VIVIR #14 Part 1

JE’s anger continued unabated. Santiago’s culpability was tonight’s primary theme interspersed throughout the many short scenes. Most did not seem to contain any earthshattering dialog but again, most was above my understanding. I’ve tried to include almost all of the scenes in case anything important needs to be added or corrected.

Angel is still apologizing and bids JE, Don Emilio, and Cris goodbye. What is it Cris asks, turning to JE, eyes mirroring her concern. JE answers that Santiago is my sister’s assassin! Don Emilio hangs his head and puts his hands over his eyes as Cris stares, too stunned to react.

Misael is torturing Santiago (again). “I am not an assassin” he protests; Misael disagrees and tells Santiago to get in the car.

Like a bad genie in a bottle, Monica appears on the scene and (never one to mix words) calls Santiago a murderer! She crosses her arms, nods her head and disappears (a la I love Jeannie). A devastated Cris takes her father’s hands in hers.

Fatima questions Luciano about his wife. My relationship is over he promises; my love for her is dead. Fatima is concerned about Mati and how she will handle their relationship. Javier comes by and takes him away as Fatima looks after them sadly.

The sharp woman detective is on the case and an angry JE starts spewing. Angel shows up at the restaurant and asks if Santiago is there. Rebeca pats her on the arm in insincere sympathy, smiling evilly as Angel walks by.

Angel goes to talk to Elena. It’s about Santiago she begins…She says her brother ruined her wedding.

Icky finally shows his hand to Jimena. She is already beside herself when he tells her their relationship is over. I wish she had held her head high and gone and opened the door for him. Unfortunately, she doesn’t, she cries harder and starts begging. He says something about there being consequences and as usual seems to blame her. “For the love of God” she pleads. Jimena, finally showing the intelligence she clearly possesses, accuses him of having another woman. Bullseye. He leaves and she sniffles into her hand.

Mati is in bed when Luciano knocks on the door asking if she is all right. She says something about her mother and he climbs on the bed and hugs her.

Monica marches up to the podium and demands to know where Santiago is. Uh oh, the police are with her. Monica remembers Rebeca (surprisingly) as Rebeca regards her with a barely concealed smirk. Monica strides over to Angel and Elena, cutting right to the heart of the matter, saying Santiago is Dulce’s murderer.

Romina is trying to impress Misael when Mati calls right in the middle of their talk. Misael says to answer it so Romina has no choice. She literally hisses into the phone, nastily telling Mati she is busy and hangs up. Misael leaves and Romina hits the desk, furious at the interruption.

Brayan and Lucas talk. Lucas asks him something which Brayan appears to agree to but there is a condition.

VIVIR #14 Part 2 of 2

Bruno is waiting for Fatima when she arrives home. He tells an astonished Fatima that JE is accusing Santiago of killing Dulce. She looks impactada.

Angel is thanking snake in the grass Rebeca as a concerned Gi arrives.

Monica and Alfredo are meeting with Misael and Bruno. Misael gets a call; he lies and says it is work but it is Rebeca.

JE is tracking Santiago. We hear sirens and Santiago grabs his suitcase, dons his cap and leaves.

At the apartment, Doris, in a cheap green dress, is surprised by Icky. She sees the suitcase and understanding the implications immediately, belts down her drink. He is delighted, she, not so much. An important lesson is clearly implied; nothing in life is free; sometimes, there are strings attached.

Angel cries to Rebeca, worried her brother will be put in jail. As Angel tells her JE is the best man in the world Rebeca hugs her and feigns sympathy.

Santi is walking on the sidewalk, when JE calls out his name and starts chasing him on foot.

Elena is now in the hospital as a concerned doctor talks to Angel.

Alma and Antonia talk and the sweet little girl goes they are babysitting runs to the door to admit her mother. They get them to stay a while, Alma inquiring how things are going at the fabrica.

Lucas, Lupe and Luis are having dinner. Lucas has some concerns; his father tells him to take care.

Elena tells Angel her son is not an assassin. Angel asks her to be calm. Rebeca is there, staring and then leaves.

JE is still in hot pursuit of Santiago. JE follows him up a flight of stairs, asking a complete stranger to call the police, saying he is after an assassin. He has cornered Santiago on a rooftop and Santi jumps. Thankfully there is another level right below so it is only a fall of a few feet. JE has him on the ground screaming at him, when the police detective arrives, other police holding him back. Santiago screams his innocence and the police detective stares at JE.

Gi is with Rebeca, Gi fanning herself giving Rebeca the stink side eye. Renato comes in asking how Elena is. Rebeca shows Angel something on her phone. I believe Rebeca says Santiago has been arrested. Gi holds Angel.

Adolfo, Monica, Cris, Misael, Fatima and Bruno are discussing everything that has occurred. Monica starts in with her vitriol. “Basta” Misael says to her. I think Don Emilio asks if Santiago had any accomplices.

The detective reads the charges to Santiago, now in custody. I believe she also asks if he had an accomplice. He wants his lawyer.

Detectives searched the house.

Misael is chased down by Bruno. He says Rebeca was right Santiago is an idiot.

Rebeca calls Misael. “Where are you” he asks testily. He is having trouble with Santiago, he will see her later.

Santiago calls Misael, who is livid warning him NOT to mention his name and threatens to hurt his family, calling him an imbecile.

Rebeca enters Elena’s room who is asleep. A single tear sliding down her cheek, she murmurs accusatorily, saying Angel is her favorite, her perfect daughter. She whispers who she is. She turns and sees a pillow on the chair. More murmurings about JE, the restaurant. She picks up the pillow and slowly walks towards the bed, pillow raised.

Why do I get the feeling that this Telenovela will get deadly just like the Portuguese/Brazilian Telenovela 'Lacos de Sangue' ?

Something tells me the Body Count might increase steadily. I can smell it!


 

VIDA Ep. 40 Part 1

We start with MAL and Paula. Paula demands that MAL not say anything in front of her daughter. MAL insists that she will not allow Paula and her family to make fools of her family! After Rol takes Suzy inside, Suzy asks Rol why that woman said those things about her mother.

Paula and MAL take their cat fight outside and claw at each other. When Paula brings up that MAL was sleeping with Pepe’s brother, MAL goes at Paula, but Paula pushes her away yelling that she is going to file charges against her for aggression. MAL warns that she will not allow Paula’s son to take advantage of her daughter’s innocence. Paula declares that she knows her son and he has principles; if he is with MAL’a daughter, it’s because he truly loves her. Paula will do all she can so that her son and Lucia can be happy. Paula hisses that if she doesn’t care about her own children, she surely won’t hold back to act against her son! As MAL viciously continues, Paula holds her aching head as she defends Emi.

Inside, Rol tells Susy that the woman is crazy. Susy calls MAL a witch (understatement!). Rol explains that is why he doesn’t want Susy to see Teo…not because of Teo but because of those around him. Rol promises to always take care of and protect Susy.

Outside, Paula insists that Emi is a good boy…she will talk to her son and tel him that she will support him and Lucia. Paula, obviously in pain and panting, holds on to a column as MAL calls her coward.

Meanwhile, Pepe is having a serious talk with Emi since his daughter has never had a boyfriend and he wants Lucia to have a beautiful experience with her first boyfriend. After Emi tells him that he truly loves Lucia, Pepe assures that he not only supports their relationship, but he also celebrates it. When Pepe tells Emi that he doesn’t want problems with Rol, Emi tells him that Rol is jealous of him.

After MAL leaves, Rol and Susy come outside. Rol sees that Paula is feeling ill, so he tells Susy to go get ready to go see Teo. He then helps Paula inside explaining what he told Susy. He adds that they need to be careful what they tell “their“ daughter, especially if Paula continues with her idea of being with Pepe.

Emi tells Pepe that Rol can’t stand to see how well Paula gets along with Pepe. Emi thinks Diego has good reason to think that Paula has feelings for Pepe. When Pepe brings up that Paula married Rol, Emi tells him that things are getting stranger at his house. He explains that Paula and Pepe had always been good friends and all of sudden that got married…as if it were just some type of agreement…without romance.

Rol tells Paula that he is determined to keep his word about taking care of the family. He only cares about 2 things: being a father to “their” children (THEIR???? and I'm asking why Paula doesn't correct him or say anything!!) and for Paula to be happy for whatever time she has left even if it’s not with him. (Barf, Barf, Barf!!)

At the restaurant, Alex announces that he and Rafa will be leaving for a tour in Spain.

After Rol takes Paula and Suzy to the restaurant, he returns and complains to Lor about all he is putting up with. Lor suggests that it would be best if Paula annul her marriage to Rol …which Rol does not appreciate. Rol thinks he would be a better father than Pepe. He now considers the kids as his own children …blah, blah, blah…(several scenes about the same thing…)

Pepe sees Susy and Paula. Paula tells him they have much to talk about but first she needs to ask for a favor. After Paula asks Pepe to help her get a tattoo, Pepe agrees that yes, they have much to talk about as he turns her to see Lucia and Emi together.

Paula tells Lucia and Emi that she supports them…and they should enjoy every moment because life is short. Before going to get her tattoo, Paula starts feeling woozie; she goes into the bathroom and throws up…while Pepe is right outside asking if she is okay. Struggling, Paula tells him she is fine. She gets a call from Lor so she tells him she is going to get a tattoo with Pepe’s help.

 

VIDA Ep. 40 Part 2

Now nighttime, Lor goes to see Rafa since he knows Rafa is leaving. When he tries to talk Rafa into working at the company, Rafa wonders why Lor has so much interest in him. Isabel arrives, which makes Rafa happy because they can now tell him—that Lor is his father!

Paula and Pepe are at his house. He asks why she needs so much strength; so Paula confesses that she regrets having married Rol and she wants an opportunity to do things right. When she was out of town, she realized that she doesn’t want to be without Pepe because she needs him and she loves him. They KISSSS! And Pepe tells her he is crazy in love with her.

Emi and Lucia are walking on the street talking about their parents liking each other when Emi sees someone amidst a group of young folks walk by. He tells Lucia he thought he recognized someone from his past.

Pepe doesn’t think that what they are doing is right, but Paula asks that he not say that. She has told him that one day she will explain everything, but right now all he needs to know this he is the man she wants to be with. She just need to know if he wants to be with her.

Rafa knows that LorIsa had a relationship before he was born. Lor agrees that they should talk about it…but first assures Rafa that Isa was, is and will always be the love of his life. He explains what happened in the past and why he returned. Then Lor denies being Rafa’s father! …and he has the evidence to prove it. He explains that he had a DNA test run, and it showed that he was not Rafa’s father. After Rafa leaves, Isa wonders why Lor lied, so he explains he did it for her. Lor reminds Isa of when they first met. Isa tells him that they are no longer those two young people. When Lor adds that, now that Alex is leaving, they should take this opportunity to rekindle their love, Isabel knows that is why he lied to Rafa…so Rafa wouldn’t cancel the trip; (she knows) Lor wants Alex to leave. Lor says nothing and bids her a good night,

Rafa tells MAL that he is leaving…it’s best so he can think things through. MAL seduces him to help him think better (eyeroll!)

Paula continues to tell Pepe that she wants to be with him, but she wants Pepe to agree. When Pepe asks if she expects him to be her lover, Paula relpies “no” because she plans to annul her marriage. She asks if he will “jump” into this with her…just like jumping out in a parachute. Pepe agrees…and then he gets a call from Rol informing him that he has come for Paula and Susy.

Now at home, Paula checks off another item off her bucket list. Lor enters so she explains what her tattoo signifies…it will give her strength. She will be fine because love cures all. When she is with Pepe, she feels that nothing will happen to her and all will be well. As she continues about her dream of being a family with Pepe, Rol eavesdrops and enters asking if he is not a priority for her. Has she forgotten how he has always been there for her and her children…since Lor left her alone right after German’s funeral?! Does she not care that she is hurting him? (NOPIS!! Neither do we!)

And there we end…

Diana, thanks for this excellent and very helpful recap!
I really needed it. On top of my usual not understanding a lot of the Spanish, not recognizing a lot of the cast, etc., I inadvertently turned off the DVR for a while, thinking I had turned off a printer I had finished using. Oh, well.

Happy, happy Doris was not so happy to see Iker was moving in. "Doris, in a cheap green dress..." Well, yeah, but the color matched her car!
Her idyllic part-time relationship just got onerous. Poor baby!

Whoa! Don Emilio really woke up, sharper than ever when Misael suggested there was no need to look for an accomplice to Santiago's dastardly deed. He directly asked if Misael wanted them to not search for an accomplice. Misael looked caught and unhappy. Everybody, even Monica stared at him. But that was it, Misael just looked unhappy.
And, unfortunately, don Emilio didn't continue that line of questioning after the commercial, but it was a close call for Misael.
How long is this going to go on? People almost being exposed, and then not.

Monica was no fun tonight, she was genuinely annoying.
When Santiago took that jump from the roof I thought "uh, oh!" Fortunately, as you said, it was a short drop, but it had me worried at first.
Definitely not a fun night with this novela.
But Misael and Bruno are right, Santiago is not the brightest light on the Christmas tree. Worse, I think Bruno is just itching to have somebody knocked off.

Lupe and Luis were thinking of trying to get some help from the police about the break-in, but Lucas suggested he try snooping around a little with the guys he knows, and they agree; "But be careful" his father warns. Lucas goes to Brayan.

As usual, I didn't get a lot of the dialog, but thanks to the Closed Captions I understood the conversation between Lucas and Brayan. Lucas wants all their stuff back; Brayan agreed, but with the condition that Lucas attend all the training sessions. Brayan is the Boss, period. Lucas agreed to this.
So I suppose we can expect Lucas to be in some sort of trouble soon, too. Meh.

Rgv Chick, your beautifully written recap perfectly reflected all of the emotions ranging from pure love to the deepest, darkest jealousy. A work of art.

Paula and Pepe's sweet love story continues to gently unfold, their words nourishing each other's hearts and souls. Yet Rol and MAL's jealousy and hatred continue unabated; determined to destroy their gentle, budding romance.

Your righteous indignation of Rol's possessiveness was captured flawlessly by "Rol...only cares about 2 things: being a father to “their” children (THEIR???? and I'm asking why Paula doesn't correct him or say anything!!) and for Paula to be happy for whatever time she has left even if it’s not with him. (Barf, Barf, Barf!!)."

It was hard to watch Paula so ill, her body ravaged and raging at the effects of her treatment. Yet she continued to assure Pepe all was well. If she loves Pepe as she claims, and I believe she does, she needs to tell him so they can fight. Together.

I'm starting to wonder if "Lorisa" (love that) are going to find their way back together or if they will need to be content with memories of the splendor they shared.

Unlike Paula, Rafa is weak and continues to succumb to MAL's machinations.

Rol's relentless lies are sickening as he tries every pitiful ploy to try and get Paula to weaken. "Has she forgotten how he has always been there for her and her children…since Lor left her alone right after German’s funeral?! Does she not care that she is hurting him? (NOPIS!! Neither do we!)" is exactly right. I do think he is out of patience and his anger will give him away. Let's hope it's sooner rather than later.

Thank you for enlightening me as to what Brayan and Lucas discussed. Lucas is digging himself in deeper it seems...

"How long is this going to go on? People almost being exposed, and then not" is an excellent question. I fear it will go on for some time, unfortunately...I'm still wondering how on earth JE and Angel are going to find their way back to each other. It's going to be a rocky road.

Thank you Diana for bringing us all the angst and yelling! I'd rather read your recap than watch it! Last nightT was annoying!!!

As annoyed as I am with JE for his behavior, Angel clearly believes Santi did it too, so maybe I should cut him some slack?? I won't, but maybe I should. When JE was chasing Santi down and around the building, I just keep thinking, really??? He really believes that spindly little boy looking man killed his sister??? With no pause or thought?? Really?? I'm going to turn my brain off now and try to stop being bugged by this. But before I do, I want to point out that when JE caught up to Santi and had him pinned, he told him to stop lying because Angel already confessed to that Santi had done it!!!! eyes rolling, she did not, she doesn't even know it he did it... Okay, done now.

Monica is already sounding the call for Angel to be arrested as an accomplice!!! I want to hear the justification for that one. Exactly how was Angel an accomplice? Because she saw the tattoo the day before everyone else found out and said nothing? that's not a very solid case!!!

Interesting that when arrested in Mexico, Santi got read his miranda rights!? I didn't think they did that in Mexico.

Mati got her first period, she looks a little old to me to be just getting her first period, but I guess it's possible. I have a sister who was lucky enough to avoid that curse until she was 16. She told Luciano she didn't know what she needed except her mommy and heartless Romina told her it's a completely normal occurrence and she's busy, so don't bother her for stupidity!!! Romina needs to be hit in the head!!!

Iker is not just icky, he's STUPID!!! He left Jimena for Doris and he thinks he's trading up??? I literally LOL'd at his scenes!!! It was nice to have something to laugh about.

Darcy, thank you! Yes, "annoying" was certainly a descriptive word for last night's frustrating emotional stew!

JE is taking great liberties with what he ASSUMES to be the truth.

So, Monica wants Angel to be arrested. I'm no Perry Mason but it was only after the fact she saw the tattoo; she hadn't seen it when she was questioned.

Thank you for explaining what was going on with Mati. Girls always need their mothers who are supposed to be the one person in the world they can depend on. Always. Romina is despicable.

Yeah, let's see how long Doris is going to put up with Icky hanging around. Actually, she'd be doing Jimena a favor to keep him. Jimena deserves so much better.

Dear Diana, I keep forgetting that this show is on at 7pm , so I only saw the last few minutes with angry\crazy eyed Refrida holding that pillow and gazing maliciously at her poor mom . Therefore, I especially appreciated your fine recap.

So, Brayan isnt the only one who can leap tall buildings . Lots of chase scenes .

Poor Mati. Unmotherly Romina is going to be a perfect accomplice for Mic ,I think .

Haha Doris, Sugardaddy is moving into that love nest with you.

I expect Renato to offer comfort to wounded Angel very soon.

I am very disappointed in " I will love you forever " JE.

I was so frustrated with everyone here. Paula is wrong that all Pepe needs to know is that she loves him. Pepe ended a relationship with someone who lied and now Paula is hiding something very important. I imagine he'll forgive her very quickly, but if I were him, I'd be furious something so crucial was kept from me. If Paula doesn't annul her marriage, is she actually going to ask Pepe to agree to be her lover? Because Rolando won't give-up very easily and Paula might just give into his manipualations.
I do feel sorry for Rafa because no one deserves to end-up with a narcisist like Malena, who loves absolutely no one.
It's a pity Rolando had the amunition he could use to manipulate Paula. Lorenzo did leave. I still can't believe it.
Why does Lorenzo still love Isabela? She drives me mad with her indecisiveness. Now she is displeased he lied to Rafa for her. I maybe wouldn't like it either, but she can't complain when she does absolutely nothing. She is rather lucky these two men aren't sick of her because I am. I'm starting to suspect she will stay with Alex. Only I can't tell if it's out of love or out of convenience. But what are they going to do with Gracia, who clearly likes Alex? I somehow don't want her with Marcos because his behaviour is weird. There's nothing romantic about not accepting 'no'. Mexicans really should stop this nonsense.
That poor baby will have Malena for a mother. I hope Rafa gets to raise him/her on his own. How do people like Malena become the way they are?Can you limit the effects of a personality disorder?
How much longer does Paula think she'll be able to hide her illness from her kids? At first she seemed to think no treatment meant they won't notice she's dying, which seemed so crazy to me. Surely she's read up on her illness and how it can affect her.

Diana: If Crazy Frida kills her own mother, then you know the Body Count will be increasing.
PS: How many episodes is "VIVIR" expected to have ?

The Portuguese-Brazilian original "Lacos de Sangue" had 322 episodes overall.

Thanks Diana, what a distressing episode. I was away for the weekend but will try to stick to this episode. JE finds an anonymous letter in his suitcase and just believes it, that was the first oh, no moment. And yes, Angel never said a word but he’s declaring she admitted it. I hope he has the letter to give to the police. I think that would make them realize he had no proof. But surprisingly, the police haven’t looked at Santiago’s neck yet.

I loved Icky in the apartment with his suitcase. Doris was not happy. When will he realize his wife is the better woman. I hope she doesn’t take him back.

Rebeca is so horrible, what a phony. She’ll hang on to Misael while waiting for a chance at JE, or whoever becomes president of the company. Misael looked so guilty when Don Emilio asked about an accomplice. I really think his mother must suspect him. I’m glad you described the detective as sharp, Diana. I saw one telenovela where the police were clueless. Hopefully she’ll figure things out, or at least figure out Santiago didn’t shoot anyone. I don’t like him but it’s obvious he’s not a killer.

I can’t believe Rebeca is going to kill her mother. I hope it doesn’t happen.

MAL was so vicious to Paula, over a teenage romance. I doubt she cares that much for her kids so I’d say it’s to intimidate Paula, who she really hates.

I was sure when Paula wanted to talk to Pepe she was going to tell him. She needs to before they have a romance. But I liked that he said he would not be the “other man”.

I thought it was horrible that Rol is now saying “their children”. And he already knows he’s not a priority to Paula so why bring it up. Paula needs to see the real Rol. And her dad needs to advise her not to trust Nat.

Misael did look gulity as sin, didn't he? And I also agree that if Monica doesn't wangle a confession out of him, he will likely go crying to her to protect him. Ack.

Rebeca seems to be a planner. Her wanting to smother Elena was an impulsive act, rather unlike her. She has no qualms about it, true, but out of character for sure...

Thank you for your recap, RgvChick. You got a catfight scene, too. LOL

While the sound effects thoroughly did their job in making Paula's vomiting realistic, it was not great to hear while I was finishing my tuna salad sandwich for lunch. Ugh..... (lol) I won't eat lunch anymore while watching.

I hated that Paula was physically weak while arguing with MALena. Mal took it as a sign of overall weakness, and she just wouldn't let up.

It was interesting that Lor denied being Rafa's father.

" MAL seduces him to help him think better (eyeroll!)" Obvio where Rafa's brains are located.

Rolando saying "their" children doesn't bother me...after all, he is their stepfather.

And did they say Susy is ten years old? No way. Not even with my telenovela beanie hat sitting tightly onto my head. I have a 10 y/o granddaughter who is much more mature than Susy, who seems more like she is 7 or 8 y/o.

Chickie, thank you. Oh my, where to begin? I am getting very tired of these people just going around and around ...and around.

One thing about Mexican telenovelas, they show romance for all the generations ..grandparents, parents, children . If all these couples get together in the end , it will be interesting with grandparents (Lor and Isabel), parents (Paula and Pepe) ,and children ( Emi and Lucia) paired up together . Will Susy and Teo grow up to be a couple ?

Okay....time for Andrea's mother to show up and stir this pot.

I need to drop all logic about the clues on who murdered Dulce and why. It doesn't seem like anyone will look at the specifics, except maybe Don Emilio and Cris.

JE looked uncomfortable when Monica railed about Angel being Santiago's accomplice. I'm guessing he can't stand anyone else dissing Angel.

Old guy don Emilio really came through and, hopefully, opened JE's eyes a little. How did that anonymous accusatory letter get in his luggage? As don Emilio pointed out whoever put it into the luggage was in the house. Who?

When don Emilio rouses himself he's pretty sharp still. Too bad he couldn't figure what was missing from the safe.

I really don't understand what Lucas is up to. He's gotten himself in deep, I don't know where he goes from here. Nor did I realize that Brayan and company hung out so close to where Lucas lives.

We had the two blondes together tonight. I still don't really know which is which.

VIVIR #15 Part 1

Rebeca is holding the pillow to her chest, poised to strike when mercifully, a nurse opens the door of Elena’s room. The nurse questions Rebeca as to what she is doing there. Rebeca recovers like the pro that she is, kissing her mother on her head and stroking her forehead.

Jimena and Angel have a tearful meeting and the two friends comfort each other. Jimena asks about Santiago and Angel asks about how things are going with her but Jimena doesn’t want to bother her with her problems. As the friends hug, Rebeca slithers in and Angel introduces them. Renato and Gi arrive and Renato gives Rebeca the stink eye.

JE is sitting in his room, at his desk, glowering at a picture of him with Angel. The maid, Petra, comes in effusing about how lovely Angel is and he shows his surly side, bursting her bubble.

Night has arrived and Santiago is mewling to Angel from behind bars. He protests he is innocent but she looks apprehensive to say the least. He puts his hand over hers on the bars. She hyperventilates a bit but says little, her face reflecting her hurt and devastation.

Elsewhere, Misael throws a glass against the wall repeating Santiago is an imbecile. Sympathetic Rebeca, in a short black nightie gives him a massage.

Angel, who has been rejected in every possible way, decides she has not been punished enough and actually goes to JE’s! Petra, obviously uncomfortable tells her JE is in his room. In either an act of courage or utter foolhardiness, she enters JE’s room and starts softly trying to reason with him. She pleads she is innocent but he isn’t at all receptive. He tells her their relationship is over! We see a split screen, JE on his bed upset and angry, Angel in her bedroom, lying down, inconsolable as she fingers her wedding ring.

Mati is feeling better the next day as Luciano greets her. She says Lucas in incredible as Luciano smiles lovingly at her as only an adoring father can. She asks about her mother and he says they are going to get a divorce. Startled, mouth agape, she cries as he hugs her, looking sympathetic and serious.

Said “mother” Romina has mounds of paper on her desk as Bruno crawls around her cubicle and pretends to make nice. I swear he actually tries to flirt with her! Whatever is he up to??

Breakfast with Fatima, JE, Cris, and Don Emilio. The men concentrating on the food, Fatima and her mother trying to start a discussion. JE says something about the restaurant being in financial trouble, buried secrets. JE does not have confidence in/trusts Angel. Cris looks downcast but agrees.

Angel picks up Elena from the hospital. When Elena asks where Santiago is, Angel tries to deflect but I think she does tell her he’s in jail.

Lupe is on the phone receiving a call that Lucas isn’t and hasn’t been in school for quite some time.

Sandra talks with Mati; Javier and Luciano are also there.

VIVIR #15 Part 2 of 2

Ahh Monica and long-suffering Adolfo are sitting at the dining table but I’ve not seen one scene yet where Adolfo actually eats a morsel of food. Loss of appetite, perhaps? 😊 Misael is right about Santiago (I think he says). She starts in. He quickly has enough of her and leaves.

Renato greets Elena and Angel; has he procured a lawyer?.

Santiago is in jail with a couple of swarthy looking cellmates when Elena goes to see him. He says he is innocent and of course she believes him. I love you she says holding his face through the bars.

JE is still erupting to Don Emilio that Angel was Santiago’s accomplice. Don Emilio giving a speech defending Angel, questioning him about the anonymous letter but JE is unmoved. It appears JE has decided to move to the farm…

Misael holds Elena’s hands telling his tia how sorry he is. Fatima is there and JE comes down the stairs. Misael offers his “support” (aka a knife in the back).

Misael calls Rebeca at work, he says something about JE leaving the hacienda. Angel walks up and overhearing, says what?

Don Emilio is looking for something in his desk berating himself. We see a flashback of him reviewing some documents, asking someone on the phone if something is true or not. He puts the papers in an envelope and lays them in a wall safe which is behind what we assume is a picture of his wife. Then we see him opening it.

Angel fears losing JE forever and decides she is going to go after him. Viewerville shake our collective heads at the folly of this but alas…

Fatima comes by to see Luciano; he explains that Mati is upset about her mother.

Cris enters the study and sees Don Emilio in the safe. He tells her the papers aren’t there. She tries to get him to tell her what happened but he is inconsolable as he hits his head with his hand, lamenting their loss, blaming himself. She comforts him, telling her father it isn’t his fault.

Angel is with Rebeca who has magnanimously offered to accompany her to see JE. When they arrive at the farm, Angel walks into the house, her face alit with the memory of making love with JE. Their theme music plays as she rubs her ring against her chin, recalling their words of love and promises.

Outside, Sandy happens by and Rebeca takes advantage, asking her where JE is. As it turns out, JE is with the horses as Rebeca walks up to him embracing him in a big ole bear hug.

What are you doing here he asks Rebeca, caught off guard. Angel rounds the corner and interrupts and we immediately see JE’s coldness has not dissipated in the slightest.

Mati is shooting hoops when Luciano appears with Fatima. Arms folded, Mati is a bit contemptuous but the four have an impromptu pickup game, Javier scoring and he and Fatima being declared the winners. They go for another game.

Lucas cuts his video game and his conversation short when Lupe storms in asking why he hasn’t been going to school and is jeopardizing his future! It’s not easy he says. Think his friends and video games are out for the moment.

Santiago is brought into the woman detective’s office.

Misael is on the phone but hangs up when Monica confronts him. She seems to doubt Santiago is an assassin. They start arguing.

Leaning over the outside railing, Lupe upbraids Brayan telling him to stay away from Lucas. Brayan laughs but none of the other people with him seem to.

The pickup game went well and the kids run off, leaving a bit of time for a bit of Luciano/Fatima together time.

Angel is trying to talk reason to JE but he is too angry (and stubborn) to listen. Rebeca hides around the corner, eavesdropping as usual.

In the last scene of the evening, Monica accuses Misael of being Santiago’s accomplice. She advances on him as he looks frightened, backing up. I believe he tells her the one who should be in jail is him. He tells her he shot Dulce but that it was an accident. Monica stares, as pale as a ghost, speechless.

I think I finally have the blondes down pat. They are a somewhat similar type but Jimena has the very long hair, Gi's is shorter, shoulder length. Although Gi is supposed to be Elena's friend and older than Jimena, Jimena looks much older than Angel (not to be unkind but...)

TU VIDA # 41

Here is a mini-recap. I’ve been on Zoom meetings for the past few hours, then had to watch this hot mess of a telenovela, and am wiped out. Please add anything pertinent that I missed.

THE SHORT VERSION:
- Roland and Paula continue to argue.
- Rolando acts like a jerk and threatens custody of the kids if she anulls.
- Alex leaves town. Rafa does not.
- Rafa decides to stay and marry MALena and be there for his baby.
- Renata tries to make Emiliano jealous.
- Paula’s second radiation treatment makes her very sick with a killer headache.
- Teo sees Mal and Rafa “en agencia” and runs away. Arguing ensues between her and Pepe over who and how this will be explained to Teo. (yawn)

THE LONGER VERSION
Rolando accuses Paula of not thinking clearly due to her illness and treatment, etc. Paula says she is finally thinking clearly! They argue, lather, rinse, repeat. She tells Rol she is freeing him from their agreement and marriage. Rolando tells Paula that if she tries to annul the marriage, he will fight for custody of her kid$. He is her husband and he can do that, and that any judge will rule in his favor because of her health prognosis. Cray Cray theme music in the background.

Rafa finally spends a whole night with Mal…their first. When he returns home, Andi points out he is still wearing yesterday’s clothes. Andi tells him to be careful, and don’t impregnate any women over in Spain. ( I would have been grounded for life if I talked to my father like that when I was a teenager).

Paula goes back for another radiation treatment. Rolando is spraying his hands with sanitizer while they’re waiting. I guess he hopes he won’t catch cancer.

Rafa is having doubts about leaving. MAL shows up and begs him to stay. She’s playing the victim…he is all she has. He says he loves her and knows she doesn’t love him. Mal says she wants to fall in love with him and I am LOL. Rafa’s few brain cells are firing, because he asks how does he know she won’t fail him (IOW, commit adultery while he’s gone). He decides to stay and marry her. Ew. They start making out and Teo walks in on them. Teo runs away to Pepe’s. Mal follows, more arguing ensues between her and Pepe as to who will explain this to Teo. FFWD>>>

Emi is in some restaurant, waiting for Renata, who is still wearing her suicide bracelets. They look like industrial strength sweat bands now. She tells him she is dating someone, and the guy shows up, dressed like Mr. Preppy Country Club with mucho attitude to go with it all. Ugh. Reni is obvio trying to get a reaction out of Emiliano, who says he appreciates all their years they were together and will always be her friend. She tells Emi that he broke her. (Riiiiight.)

Paula is in really bad shape after this second dose of radiation. He is sick to her stomach and her head hurts like she is dying. Paula refuses to go to hospital because an ambulance would clue the kids in that she is sick. (argh!) Lorenzo calls the doctor, who will make a house call, because this only happens in Mexican telenovelas.
Alex disapproves of Rafa staying. He leaves. Isabela finds out and blocks the taxi with her truck. She begs Alex to stay FFWD>>>lather, rinse, repat.

Watching Paula suffering is getting impossible to watch. Susana is all too believable and (as always) is amazing here.

In threatening to sue her for custody of HER children, Rol was monstrous. Just when I think he can't sink any further, he somehow finds a lower level to descend to.

Is Paula going to end up at death's door before she tells Pepe??

For some inexplicable reason, my "normal" Uni channel did not air any of the TNs after Vivir tonight. There was some sort of awards show airing although the program guide indicated the usual TN lineup.

Did this happen to anyone else?

Fortunately, I was able to watch Vida on another high def Uni channel airing a few hours later. I will have to watch El Amor tomorrow as I don't think I am going to be able and stay up another two hours.

JE's likability is seriously wearing thin. He could at least listen to poor Angel. Very annoying.

I agree that Bruno was flirting with Romina. Does he just come on to every woman he meets or does he have another motive?

I don't understand why Lucas has not been in school. Has he been playing games all this time, or something even worse with Brayan?

I took an early dislike to Misael, perhaps because of his looks and hair. But I have softened my opinion a bit. Bad but perhaps not terrible. But definitely bad and greedy. He was born into a wealthy family, he essentially had it made, but greed did him in and caused him to attempt some fraud to get really rich right away. With absolutely disastrous consequences, which he continues to make worse.

I think that the documentation of his fraudulent business transaction is what don Emilio put in his safe and what Misael went for the night Dulce was shot. I am very confused, though, about what Misael actually planned to do with the gun that night.
Well, I probably have this all wrong anyway.

I'm pretty sure that by the end of the episode, when Paula was writhing in agony from radiation side effects, she told Lorenzo that she would stay married to Rolando. I *think* that is what she said.

And so the game of tennis continues with the ball now in Pepe's court ...

And, seriously, Why on earth didn't anyone talk to Teo about the marital musical chairs??? Good grief....

So does Paula honestly think Pepe should agree to be her lover? She clearly wants a relationship with him, but she won't annul her marriage. That's not fair to Pepe, especially when she hasn't told him the truth yet. And why would the court give the custody to Rolando just because he is Paula's husband? Her father is the kids' actual grandfather. Why does he not advise Paula what to do? Why don't they talk?
Rafa has no sense.I can't believe he still loves Malena. I wonder who her parents are.

Doris, I think that while Lorenzo's handsome visage and her blissful remembrance of their "splendor in grass" remains in Isa's heart, all of the years with Alex have made her love him. Not in the same romantic way, but love nevertheless.

Alex taking himself out of the equation, at least for the time being, may change everything though.

If Misael was truly evil he would have killed Santiago. Then he wouldn’t have to worry about him telling. I think Bruno is the evil guy in this.

I remember Don Emilio putting the forged papers in his safe, or having his secretary do it. We know he’ll eventually remember and Misael will be caught. Or we hope he’ll remember.

Why is Adolfo still with Monica. They can’t stand each other!

I like Fatima and Luciano as a couple. The basketball game was fun.

So Angel saw Rebeca giving JE that hug and didn’t think anything of it. And I think Rebeca really would have killed her mom. I’m not sure what she said to her mom right after she kissed her but I don’t think it was good.

Diana, time will tell re: Isa/Lor/Alex. Seems like a 50/50 bet to me. The writers might even flip a coin to decide. :-p

In the meantime, I can't wait until MALena tells Rafa he is Lorenzo's son, only to have Rafa tell her no, that Lor did a DNA test and he is not. Will she dump him like a truckload of rocks? Oh the drama. ;-)

At beginning, JE asked Petra to move his things to the guest room. She earned that icy glare when she asked if he wasn’t going to share his wife’s bedroom! When Angel arrived to see him, she was directed to guest bedroom. Seems odd but it seems Angel is installed in JE’s bedroom.

Thank you Diana for another fantastic recap! As always, you capture the pace of emotion of the episode perfectly. I watch novelas on Vix the next day so I have no idea if my area was pre-empted or not.

I don't remember what Rebeca said to Elena before kissing her but I don't think it was anything ominous, because I probably would have remembered that. I think it was just some insincere comment about sleeping well.

At the breakfast table with JE, Fatima, Cristina and DE. Fatima said even IF (indicating she doesn't completely believe it) Santiago was the one to break in and kill Dulce, she doesn't believe that Angel could have been his accomplice. Angel isn't capable of that even if Santi is her brother. Cristina agreed and DE agreed too! Hear you have even the mother of the murder victim saying she doesn't believe it's possible that Angel could be Santi's accomplice but JE is stubborn as you noted. Among many very good points DE made about this situation, it pointed out that it was extremely odd that Santi would rob his safe, what could possibly be in the safe that would be of interest of Santi??? As DE himself said, it makes no sense! But JE just jumped to the conclusion that he must have been looking for money because the restaurant is in trouble and he was desperate.

DE made so many good points with JE! Basically everything I've been thinking, he said. He pointed out that it had to be someone close to JE, who had access to the house and his suitcase who place that anonymous note, AND that they had to do it with bad intentions!!! If not, why did they tell ONLY JE in a note? Why not tell everyone? Or go to the police??? Angel repeated that same point about the person with the anonymous note trying to hurt them but JE didn't listen to Angel either, of course.

DE remembered the papers and putting them in the safe. That's what he was looking for when he opened the safe. So, he realizes the papers are gone and that they are what was stolen. He also remembers that the papers contained something 'very bad', but he doesn't remember what! That's why he's hitting his forgetful head. He can't remember what the content of the papers was, and thus doesn't remember Misael's fraud.


One thing can be said for Angel, even if going to the hacienda to see JE was a bad idea, she held her own in the argument!!! She even told him to stop being immature at one point!!! She said she recognized that she made a mistake, but she still wasn't going to let him talk to her any old way. She told him what she should have from the beginning, that she found out about Santi on their wedding morning, and she was shocked and confused. She reminded him that she tried to stop the wedding. She had told him that they need to cancel the wedding until they could talk but that HE convinced her that they should get married and then they could face anything they needed to face TOGETHER!!! She said she went through with the wedding because she believed him, but he rejected that and said she's just making excuses.

Monica did look truly shocked and shaken when Miseal told her the whole truth!!! He also told mommy that Santi was helping him break into the safe to steal back some papers from grandpa's safe, but he didn't go into what was in the papers. He will be interesting to see what Monica's reaction is. I think I can guess, but interesting too. It's one thing to accuse someone of a bunch of horrible things when you honestly believe they did it. Do you keep accusing when you know they didn't??? I'm guessing yes, but we'll see.

I felt so sorry for Teo, and worse when MAL decided she needed to explain by telling him his father was seeing a married woman. Hopefully at an older age he’ll realize how his mother carried on while married.

Somehow I missed that Rafa plans to marry MAL. It was disappointing enough that he decided to stay and give up the trip to Spain. And Doris, thanks for pointing out MAL could tell Rafa about his parentage and he’ll tell her no. I hope it happens that way, I’d love to see MAL’s face then!

I think Isabela chose Alex 40 years ago and will choose him again. They’ve built a life together and that counts for something.

Rol threatening to get custody of Paula’s children was pretty low. Has Paula told Lorenzo. I sure wish they would talk more. But it is Lorenzo at her side when she’s sick. I was surprised Rol took her for her treatment.

I’m guessing Renata chose the new boyfriend knowing Emi didn’t like him. I guess that’s who he saw in the crowd. Hope it doesn’t cause Emi to rethink his choice.

I am totally frustrated with all the “Yes, I am…no, I’m not” in this TN. I hated that Paula told Rol that she isn’t going through with the annulment ARGGHH! And how can a man who has only been married for a few days have any claim to his stepchildren??? I really think that if Rol would fight for custody, Lor would step in and take in that responsibility (call me an optimist!)

I get so badly for Teo. How cruel of MAL to tell him about Pepe!

If Rafa does marry MAL, he’ll deserve all the grief and disappointment with that.

In regards to Isabela, I think she chose Alex because he would provide more stability. And I think that she is trying to hold on to him out of loyalty to Alex and to the “family.” Investing 40 years in your family does count for something.

Doris, thank you so much for another great recap. Having said that , I have two friends going through chemo right now, and i cannot stand watching Paula suffer. I have to change the channel during those scenes . Too real .

Isabella drives me crazy. One never forgets his\her first love , but I am really tired of watching her waffle back and forth between these two guys . Life is short....make a decision so all three of you can move on.

LOL!!! First, I am *not* a storyteller so have zero talent for weaving a better version of these crazy shows. Like the guys in Dragnet, "just the facts", and occasionally some snark.
I have a long checkered history of, and currently volunteer at, taking minutes for various groups to which I belong. Minutes, not a transcript of the meetings. ;-)

I wrote this recap (recrap) just like meeting minutes, and last night's was after taking meeting minutes for two different zoom meetings just a couple hours before watching this locura. :-D My brain was almost as fried as poor Paula's, but without the terrible side effects.

I forgot to mention earlier when they took Santi into see the lady cop and his lawyer they mentioned that they got the result of the gun residue test (I'm almost positive). This makes no sense because Santi wasn't arrested until days after the murder and I didn't think gun residue lasted that long. Anyway, Santi thinks it's great because this will prove that he didn't kill Dulce and Misael thought it was the nail in his coffin because now the cops will KNOW that Santi didn't kill Dulce; but the grim looks on the face of the cop and the lawyer made me think the result might not be what Santi and Misael suspect.

I think the cop said the ballistics test showed Santiago was not the shooter. Anyway, Santi looked relieved. I'm still ticked though that he hasn't confided to Angel or his mom what really happened and that they haven't even tried to force him to. They treat him like a baby.

Don Emilio was the MVP last night challenging JE's thinking (ie, not thinking). Don Emilio, are you sure you want this stubborn dunderhead to lead your company?

I worry about Gi. So far she's the only one who notices want a phony opportunist Rebecca is.

Santiago is coddled, that is for sure! I think he's deathly afraid of Misael and will be even more so if the finger of guilt points to him now.

Rolando is a pompous ass and appears to not know what his actual rights are, which are probably much less than he thinks.

How much time did Rolando ever spend with Paula's kids? He also has never been married before and has no kids of his own.

Paula has also not signed her will yet. She should name Lorenzo as guardian and if he is less than adequate as executor or a financial trustee she should choose an impartial banker or investment professional.

If Paula succeeds in getting an annulment, this is would be an acknowledgement of the marriage being invalid. How, therefore, could he have any right to custody of Diego and Suzy? Emliano is a legal adult despite his naievete about relationships and lack of adult experience while Diego is vociferously fighting Rolando as an authority figure. He looks about 16 so his opinion would count in family court. He also looks like a responsible young man with good grades.

And what is Rolando's net worth? Is it less than Paula's? I bet that it is.

Rafael is probably right not to go off to Spain for three months but he is emotionally immature to think that he can get MALena to love him or the forthcoming baby. Malena cannot love. We don't know how she became that way but she does not love anyone with the possible exception of herself. Her obsession is about being abandoned so she actually has very little sense of self-worth.

Reni is no better. She is playing a very pathetic game with Emiliano as she still wears her suicide bracelets ...good one! IIRC she once mentioned her parents being away on trips so we know she must feel very abandoned.

Although it is out of line I applaud Andrea for her words to Rafa about knocking up anyone in Spain.
 

VIVIR #16 Part 1

The dialog was so fast and furious, I understood only a few words here and there. There seemed to be one pervasive emotion throughout this: anger…Therefore, I am going to note what I think I understood and be purposely vague when I didn’t. Any help would be most appreciated.

Monica is still reeling from her conversation with Misael. He proclaims it was an accident; the gun is also brought up. JE explains Don Emilio has documents that prove he was stealing and would put him in jail. Monica has a mini meltdown as Misael repeats he is not an assassin. My only child in jail she muses, grabbing him by the hair.

Angel continues to plead her case, JE’s face not softening one iota. Fatima arrives and Angel tries to bat away her tears.

Santiago is still before Agent Corral and his lawyer. I could not understand what was said other than that I believe the lawyer tells him it is vitally important he tell what happened that fateful night.

Misael finally convinces Monica to support him.

The incriminating papers are found in Don Emilio’s office! His assistant’s face a stern study as she looks at them.

Misael recalls overhearing Don Emilio talking to JE telling him he wants him for the presidency.

Gi and Renato are talking. She seems to guess Renato likes Angeli. Renato admits it but knows she is in love with JE. Gi seems to approve (?)

Fatima sympathizes with her friend Angel…

Rebeca, wearing the most hideous jean jacket I’ve ever seen (replete with bowling ball size red crystal embellishments), stalks after JE. He has no interest in talking to her, but she proceeds undaunted. She tells him something about the restaurant that seems to upset him.

Fatima goes to Luciano and pours her heart out to him, telling him everything is horrible as he holds her tightly.

Mati calls Romina who immediately tries to get her off the phone. Mati tries to pull on Romina’s non-existent heartstrings but to no avail. When Bruno slithers around the corner she blatantly hangs up on her daughter!

Rebeca asks Sandy’s father where Angel is. He stares at her as if she has two heads.

Rebeca knocks on the door and Angel explains it is actually JE’s room. Rebeca talks and I got the impression she seems to tell Angel that JE will never forgive her (did I get that right?)

JE is swimming in crystal clear water with a beautiful waterfall nearby. He remembers being there with Angel, recalling their promises, now shattered beyond repair. My heart is yours forever he tells her. Liar. In present time, Angel is at the top of the ledge and JE looks furious upon seeing her. Why are you here he barks? She again proclaims her innocence but JE tells her there is no love story. She packs up her broken heart and leaves.

Lucas and Brayan have a serious talk, I think Brayan is threatening something.

Luciano empathizes with Fatima being caught in the middle between Angel and her brother. There is another loud clap of thunder in the background.

VIVIR #16 Part 2 of 2

“Angel” Rebeca calls out and hearing no reply, walks right into the bedroom. She says out loud that she likes the room as she smells the pillows, inhaling JE’s scent. Misael calls, interrupts her reverie, “hello baby” she purrs. He is angry when she tells him she is at the hacienda. When are you coming back he demands. Tomorrow she says.

Jimena arrives home and talks with her son. He wants to call his father and she gives him the phone. Thankfully Icky talks with him and he is happy. Jimena is going to prepare his favorite meal.

Some cute young man appears out of nowhere and introduces himself to Mati.

Doris is at her little boutique o’ crap when Rebeca calls her. She has a favor, it’s v very important. We only see the conversation from Doris’ end. She smirks.

JE is grooming a horse when Luciano shows up. More ominous thunder roars in the background. Luciano tries to talk reason to him about Angel. He does seem to consider what Luciano is saying but he flashes back to Rebeca kissing him.

Rebeca hides under the bed as Sandy and Angel come in. Angel is crying and turns and looks at the picture of her and JE, murmuring his name. She changes from sensible riding boots to white high heels.

Uh oh, now in addition to the thunder, we now see white hot lightning. Angel is in her car while Sandy’s father begs her not to leave, but she persists, and drives off.

Brayan and his gang are meeting when Doris, replete with a low-cut sequined blouse and skirt, shows up. She tries to entice him to leave with her but he refuses muttering that Rebeca is his love. He walks away. One of the other members smiles and lingers behind and thus, Doris gets her pigeon.

Lucas brings home a huge screen TV as Lupe stares. She and Luis give him the grand inquisition. Lupe starts to go out but Lucas takes her purse and stops her in her tracks.

Crying her eyes out, recalling JE’s s vitriolic words that she was using him to help with the failing restaurant, Angel is not paying any attention to where she is going in the driving rain.

Unable to lure the intended victim, Doris is dancing with Bryan’s replacement, going shot for shot with him, plying him with more liquor. She then leads him out of the bar.

There is a tree across the road and Angel alights from the car, soaked to the skin, walking in the mud in her four-inch heels.

Everyone at the hacienda finally realize Angel has flown the coop. JE leaves on horseback to look for her. He sees her car stopped by the felled tree; he, alights from the horse and starts walking.

Monica is pacing outside as Misael comes up. Just then, Rebeca calls, he smiles but I don’t know what she said. Adolfo comes up and wonders what is going on.

In a seedy hotel somewhere, the poor dupe Doris lured into the trap tries to come to, splashing water on his face. He stares in the mirror and we see he now sports an identical tattoo to Santiago’s!

Wind, rain and mud conspire…Angel now thoroughly soaked, trips on a rock and falls unconscious into the river! And there, we end…

Vida Ep 42 Part 1

MAL refuses to leave and realizes that Teo left school early. When she turns to him and yells demanding to know how and why he left school, Pepe grabs her and tells her to leave, but she still refuses; so Pepe calls out to Rafa to come take her away.

Lor assures Paula that Pepe will see that she has tried calling him. Paula is perturbed that she is letting everybody down and not keeping her word. Lor assures that she is stronger than she thinks and all will be better.

Emi tries to stop Reni from going with Fede. She thinks he is jealous, When Emi warns her that Fede will hurt her, she retorts that Fede won’t hurt her more than Emi did. She then asks if he has told Lucia that, at one time, Fede and he were “super brothers”.

Rol takes Diego to some place where he can see what will happen to him until he reaches the age of of majority…and hopes Diego will leave just as he said he would.

Pepe tries to talk to Teo but Teo refuses to put on his hearing aid and doesn’t want to listen.

Gracia tells Isa about Teo seeing Rafa and MAL.

Pepe goes out and reminds Rafa and MAL that all he asked of them was to allow him to be the one to tell Teo about their relationship. He rebukes MAL for what she told Teo…it won’t be easy explaining things to him. Pepe wonders how they will tell Teo that MALis expecting Rafa’s baby.

Doc Patricio tells Paula that she is experiencing the side effects of the treatment, but not all days will be this bad. Paula wonders how long she can keep this from her children; and Patricio reminds her that she could benefit from her family’s support.

Isabela arrives at Pepe’s and goes in to see Teo. Pepe continues berating MAL and ultimately tells Rafa to leave with his woman.

Rol has taken Diego to a Center of Alternative Treatments so that they can “cure” him. Diego shouts that Rol is not his father and he has nothing to change…he is not sick! When Rol tells Diego that he does nothing but destroy everything, Diego shouts that he HATES him (just as much as we do!) and runs away.

Susy arrives home feeling a bit sick and wants to lay down with Paula.

Gracia, the town messenger, tells Lucia about Teo finding out about her mother and Andrea’s father.

Rol drives around looking for Diego who is hiding from him.

Lucia arrives home and Pepe confirms that Teo knows about his mother…but Teo still doesn’t know that Rafa is the baby’s father. As he consoles Lucia, Pepe tells her that they need to be extra vigilant of Teo. Lucia then tells him that Teo’s teacher told her that Teo is always alone and doesn’t communicate with anyone but Susy.

Rosa talks Susy out of getting in bed with Paula since Paula is also feeling ill. Paula tells Susy that she is having tummy problems. Lor comes in and Paula cries that she feels bad, but not physically. She doesn’t want to reject Susy when Susy wants to be close to her. She doesn’t want her life to change so much that she will lose her children again.

Rafa tells Andrea that he didn’t leave. Andrea wonders why he is telling her that he stayed when he didn’t even bother to tell her that he was leavin. Rafa explains that he is trying to do things right…and he is going to marry MAL. Andrea is not happy! Andrea them sees Diego and he tells her what Rol did. Andrea then suggests that they tel everyone that they are novios…to shut everyone one up, namely Reni…and to stop Tol from bothering him. Andrea then tells Diego about her dad marrying MAL.

Pepe shows up at Paula’s and asks to talk to Susy so she can help him find out what is going on with Teo.
 

VIDA Ep. 42 Part 2

MAL wants to talk to Teo, but he tells her to leave…she is BAD!! MAL grabs Teo's face so he can look at her lips while she is spewing nonsense. She tells him it’s his fault that she and his father divorced. Why didn’t he get this upset when he saw the video of Paula and his father?! She has a right to be with someone who loves her too.

Isa tries to tell Rafa to stop causing problems, but he turns the tables on her and tells her that she is also causing problems…since his father left because of her. He asks if now that his father is gone, will she try at it with Lor. Isa tried to change the subject back to Teo, but Rafa keeps on that he won’t have a problem with her seeing Lor but she should be as supportive of him too. She tells him he is confused about his feelings for MAL, but he argues that he has been in love with MAL forever! And he wants to do things as God commands! (Oh puh -lease! Leave God out of this!!)

Pepe notices that Paula looks pale but she deflects and asks what is going on with Teo. So Pepe tells Paula about Teo’s problems at school.

Susy tells Pepe that a boy at school is bothering and making fun of Teo…and the boy even threw Teo’s notebooks on the floor. When Susy asks if she can go see Teo, Paula reminds her that she is sick. Susy points out that Paula is sick too. After Paula says she is feeling better, Susy tells them she is feeling better too.

Teo looks at a picture of himself with MAL and turns it over before hitting it.

Andrea and Diego tell Rafa and Isa that they are novios. Isa tells them they can’s be! But Rafa gives them his okay and tells Diego to take care of his daughter. After they leave, Rafa comments that it’s good that the DNA test confirmed that Lor is not his father.

Rafa goes to see MAL who tells him she didn’t talk to Teo…but both her kids hate her (with good reason!). Rafa tells her to give it time.

Fede tries to get fresh with Reni but she pushes him off and tells him that he is only supposed to be like that when Emi is around . Fede asks what her plan is, so she explains that she wants Emi to start drinking and hit rock bottom again so Lucia can see it and get scared off. Reni will then go and rescue Emi once more…and they will live happily ever after! (Deee-lusional!)

Emi is sitting on the dock recalling those times when he drank too much and almost drowned. After they rescued him, he cried as he asked them why they saved him…he wanted to die just like his father did!

When Teo sees Susy, he puts on his hearing aid and is glad Susy is there. Susy tells him that friends are there for each other. Pepe thanks Paula who apologizes for not showing up earlier…it’s not that she didn’t want to come, she just couldn’t make it. Pepe thinks it’s best that she didn’t show up…he doesn’t want any more problems. Paula tells him that she wants to fight for him.

In the bedroom, Teo asks Susy if she thinks there is something going on with his father and her mother. Susy doesn’t know but her mother married her godfather and she loves him mucho!

MAL plots—when Rafa finds out that Lor is his father, she will convince him to get as much money out of Lor as he can; then she will split after she destroys Pepe and his damn family! Reni shows up and has something that will interest MAL.

Paula assures Pepe that she is willing to confront everything and anything to be with him. He wants him to be part of all her life. When Pepe asks if she will separate from Rol, she replies that she can’t right now. Pepe tells he that if she wants to be with him and if she wants him to be her lover, she needs to speak to him with the truth. He continues that she keeps tellling him that there is a good reason why she has to be married with Rol…she needs to tell him what that reason is… (will she?? won't she??)

And there we END!

Rgv Chick, you masterfully relayed tonight’s non-stop angst with insight, clarity and wisdom.

“…he argues that he has been in love with MAL forever! And he wants to do things as God commands! (Oh puh -lease! Leave God out of this!!)” was the perfect antidote to this outrageous hypocrisy.

“Andrea and Diego tell Rafa and Isa that they are novios. Isa tells them they can’t be!” Hence the fallout of lies spiraling out of control.

“When Rol tells Diego that he does nothing but destroy everything, Diego shouts that he HATES him (just as much as we do!)…” is exactly right!

Watching MAL berate Teo and place the blame for her marriage imploding at her child’s feet was sickening. Rafa’s deluded adoration of her is similarly stomach churning.

Emi/Reni/Fede…I just can’t…

There are bright spots – Andrea posing as Diego’s girlfriend being one of them. But, few and far between.

Even as she fights for her physical life, Paula’s emotional life suffers as she continues to allow Rolo to manipulate and blackmail her. Every day he becomes more controlling of her life and that of her children. She (unbelievably) agrees not to leave him and continues to suffer in silence.

Paula is not without resources; she has her father and a man who loves her. Yet she continues to keep her health and her situation a secret from Pepe. What will she tell Pepe in answer to his question? How about the truth. All of it. It is time….

Diana, thanks again, I think you hit another home run with your recap. I wish I could help with the dialog, but I get less of it than you get. But I don't think we have to worry, others will fill in any important words said.

Yeah, Brayan is unhappy with the "lack of respect" shown by Lucas' mother or perhaps Lucas. He will return their possessions but keep the money. He warns Lucas that somebody might have an "accident" if he's not treated better. Or something like that, I definitely did not understand it word for word.

Uh, oh. Poor Lucas might have some competition for Mati from the son of the town's veterinarian.

[Angel] changes from sensible riding boots to white high heels. Well, of course she does. What else would a young woman wear going out into a threatening storm? And again with the bare midriff look. Why?

When Lucas brought the large TV screen back, his parents wanted to know where he got it, who stole it? They (correctly) think it was Brayan, and want to denounce him to the police, but Lucas says, No, it was not Brayan. He himself stole it.

Doris should stop wasting her time with Bruno, she seems to possess powers of witchcraft when it comes to dumb guys. AND she seems to have a wooden leg where drinking is concerned. Anyway, she needs to set her sights higher.

Poor Angel seems to have been washed away in the river. OK, I guess we've seen the last of her, right?

I don't get Malena. She outright said she doesn't love her kids, but she wants Pepe to look bad in front of Teo. If she doesn't care, why go out of her way to cause the child so much suffering? Just to get back at Pepe? I mean, is it that in her head her infidelity somehow is Pepe's fault? And why blame Teo for what happened? It appears she not just doesn't care about him, but actually hates him. Rafa needs to use his head before it's too late. But it's funny how Malena believes the family is to blame and they deserve to be punished when she is the one who caused this.
Poor Teo. Do other kids at that school know sign language? Because if he used to comunicate with them, they must have been willing to do so. If only kids in reality were that friendly.
Paula insisting she need to explain herself was a bit weird, given that Pepe's main concern was that his child was being bullied.
I was amused by Rafa turning the tables on Isabela. It is quite something when she tries to lecture him when she herself is the kind of person who buries her head in the sand and won't say yes or no or even admit the truth to Rafa. I do wonder if Rafa got a lot of 'look at Pepe, how clever he is...' talks as a child.

I am climate confused. Reni wore a cap-sleeve top and Fede was wearing shorts and a short sleeve shirt. Everyone else is running around in shearling jackets, vests, wool jackets, etc.
and I cannot figure out the season they're in.

MAL is the worst mother in the world, especially for telling Teo it was all his fault. Nobody in their right mind does that to a child...oh wait, Mal is not in her right mind and probably never was.

It was interesting to see Rafa turn the tables on Isabela, for a change.

Have the last few weeks of this telenovela taken place in three days of "telenovela time"? Why on earth hasn't anything already been explained to Teo???

Rolando is disgusting for taking Diego to a re-programming center. Diego's best defense would be to trust his mother and out himself. She won't care.

The look on Isa's face when Diego and Andi announced they are novios!!! :-o

Paula's brain must be addled by the tumor. Why she thinks she can hide her condition from her kids is stupid.

I am so over all the lies. Bring on Zaida and let's get another subplot started!

I was typing for just a second (I thought) and looked up to see the dark haired young man chatting up Mati. Thank you for identifying him! He seemed to come out of nowhere. Mati didn't seem at all impressed.

Andy, I did not notice Angel's bare midriff! It appears Angel has a penchant for showing some skin, the wedding dress and now here in the middle of a treacherous storm. Has she lost every ounce of common sense she had??

Doris does have a "wooden leg". She can drink with and drink more than the worst of 'em. I wonder what Icky would think of her little capers...

JE better find Angel and quickly! Let's hope he knows CPR backwards and forwards. :)

Thanks so much, Diane, you fill in the gaps so I get a better idea of what is happening.

I was surprised when they tested Santiago for gunshot residue as it’s been days or weeks. So it didn’t prove anything. I thought they said the family requested it but I’m not sure.

I’m relieved they didn’t have Lucas get the tattoo, but I think he’ll be arrested too. They’re trying to get Santiago to tell who his accomplice is, so the guy with the tattoo could name Lucas. Not sure why I feel he’ll get blamed, I guess because he doesn’t fit in with the gang so they’ll set him up.

I was surprised Angel left without Rebeca. I’m not sure what Rebeca was telling JE at one point, but it was probably something to make him doubt Angel even more. And it was strange that Rebeca asked the man something and he just stared.

I’d love to know what Adolfo overheard!

Guess JE will save Angel tonight!

Angel is so consumed with grief, it is as if she is in a trance. No spoiler but I also think JE will save her. I'm fervently hoping that almost losing her will bring him to what's left of his senses.

Thank you, Diana! As always you captured the heart of the episode perfectly! Your understanding and interpretations were spot on!

Santi's gun residue test did come back negative, but it doesn't clear him of suspicion because as I guessed too much time passed for the test to definitively prove whether or not he shot the gun. The cop tells him that the only reason they did the test is because the family was hoping it would come back positive and proof him guilty, they can't use it to prove him innocent! Doesn't sound like a fair deal to me, but welcome to novelaland. Santi is still under suspicion because of his tattoo and a lack of alibi. They want to know exactly where Santi was but all he will say is that he was 'working'. Later, Renato tells Gi that the lawyer believes Santi is hiding something, but they both agree that whatever Santi is hiding they don't believe he could have killed Dulce.

Misael told mommy about his grand plan to get Santi out of jail by framing someone else with the tattoo so when Misael received the call from Rebeca at the end of the episode, that's what Monica was wanting to know, if the guy got tattooed. Misael also wants mom to go visit Santi in jail, since no one would suspect her, and convince him to stay silent as they have a plan to get him released. Monica agreed to go but we haven't seen that.

I will say, the criminal sector is lucky that plan a failed and Doris improvised. I hadn't thought about it before, but Brayan was a bad choice for scapegoat! With that hair, there's no way he could be mistaken for Santi or that he could have covered all that hair. A description of his hair definitely would have been included in Angel's description if the culprit had been Brayan. Flunky #2 is a much better choice. Speaking of Brayan, the convo between him and Lucas was exactly as Andy described.

When Rebeca stalked after JE she implied that Angel was desperate to reconcile with JE right away. Thus, leading JE to believe, without actually saying it, that Angel is trying to get him back immediately so he will pay off the restaurant debts. Renato also mentioned to Gi that the restaurant is losing reservations due to the scandal so business is suffering.

Fatima told Angel that she believes her that she wasn't Santi's accomplice, but it's still hard for her to see her thinking that Santi may have killed her sister and thus she understands how JE feels. Angel said she understands how Fatima feels. I must say it's a breath of fresh air to see the family and friends being supportive of Angel instead of quick to condemn. It's a nice change from the typical everybody and their cousin gains up on the protag plot!

The conversation between Luciano and JE was really interesting because like DE yesterday, Luciano made a good point. He told JE that before you judge someone, you should put yourself in their shoes. He asked JE whether he had ever kept any secrets from Angel. That's when JE thought about to kissing Rebeca and he told Luciano that he'd only kept little stupid unimportant things from her. He asked JE to imagine if he couldn't bring himself to share the stupid unimportant stuff, how hard would it be for Angel to tell him about something like what she suspected about her brother?? JE seemed to really consider Luciano's words as you said.

Dialog wise there's not much else to add. Most of the conversations were the prerequisite novela angst with the predictable lines that your descriptions of the scenes encapsulated really well! :)

When wacky Refrida was squashed under bed, I was so hoping that Angel would drop something and see her cowering there when she picked the object up. I would have enjoyed hearing Refrida's excuse for being there. Wonder how fast she could think on her feet....well, on her stomach.

Can't wait to see if Angel has amnesia after JE rescues her from those muddy, turbulent waters ...and will he refuse to speak to her to continue his pompous hissyfit? This guy is too high maintenance to be a hero.

Thanks so much Rgv Chick, I enjoyed you recap of another frustrating episode.

Rol taking Diego to that place was horrible. If only he would just tell Paula, she will love and accept him, and throw Rol out for taking him there. And Isabella will be relieved.

Then MAL blaming Teo for the divorce was another bad parent moment. But she’s actually been placing the burden of winning Pepe back on Teo all along.

I think Isabella was upset with Rafa because she knows MAL is mal, although she doesn’t know how bad. But sleeping with your brother’s wife is bad enough. She fell for Lorenzo when Alex left her and went to Spain. I’m not surprised with MAL’s plan, can’t wait to see it fail.

I hope Paula tells Pepe the truth tonight!

I never understood why Brayan was a candidate for the tattoo. In addition to all the reasons you noted so perfectly, Brayan also knows things about Rebeca that I'm sure she wouldn't want known.

Ahh, so Luciano was gaining ground with JE; great question as to whether or not he hid anything from Angel. Hence, JE recalling kissing Rebeca. Mystery solved.

We must be at the hump now and too many of the right people still don't know about Paula's condition. Her sons are more than old enough to know and Pepe obviously should know. He would be upset for an episode or two but I suspect he would understand. I also don't like that she is concealing this and I can see Rolando blackmailing her over this by threatening to tell Suzy.

Could these writers be planning a miracle cure without anyone else knowing about it? That would be insane.

As to Waterlily's question about BPD, we have just seen what it can do to children. Malena's treatment of Teo in last night's episode was disgustingly cruel and almost beyond belief. She never loved either of her children and neither of them deserve this.

Suzy can't be 10; Teo doesn't even look like he's 8.

Renata is a junior-league Malena the way she looks to manipulate Emiliano. Here is hoping that Federico changes his mind about being her accomplice. I wish Andrea could see her antics; she can spot this kind of crap a mile away. Both Renata and Malena remind me of what a male friend once told me about a male acquaintance who was hot for a female psychopath. He said to him "Why would you want to date her? She is BSC." His reply: :But she's so beautiful."

Beauty cannot excuse this level of evil.

Finally, Rolando shanghaiing Diego to a conversion camp was beyond disgusting. Sadly, this might still be legal in Mexico. However, as I pointed out yesterday, Rolando probably lacks the authority over Diego without official authorization from Paula. He will definitely lose any he has if she does annul the marriage.

Everyone older than Diego needs to see this 2018 film The Miseducation of Cameron Post. It's a real eye-opener.

Diana, "Watching MAL berate Teo and place the blame for her marriage imploding at her child’s feet was sickening." Yes, it was!! It's incomprehensible to me how anyone who calls themselves "mother" can treat their child like this. I'm not naive though, I know that (sadly) this and much worse happens in RL.

Waterlily, you made some good points. "And why blame Teo for what happened?...it's funny how Malena believes the family is to blame and they deserve to be punished when she is the one who caused this." MAL's sole goal is to hurt Pepe through his family...and Teo and Lucia are part of that family. IIRC there was one time when MAL expressed that the kids had ruined her life...or something to that effect.

Doris, "I am climate confused." I've been confused for awhile! Seems like Lor is always wearing those scarves and winter clothes.

Liz, "Rol taking Diego to that place was horrible." Indeed it was! I do hope Diego at the very least tells Paula that Rol took him to that place. Of course she would probably wonder why, but as everyone has pointed out, Paula most likely would accept Diego's preference.

Urban, "We must be at the hump now and too many of the right people still don't know about Paula's condition." I sure hope we're at the hump; I'm getting tired of all the manipulation and of seeing Paula's suffering.

For those who also watch "Receta"--I thought it funny that two sets of teenagers decide to pretend to be novios...and on the same night!

I don't mind teen characters but usually fond little kids irritating. To your point I wonder whether these two novelas have any writers in common.

I was shocked when I saw the map showing how many countries allow those abusive places. Rolando will have a tantrum when he goes home and finds Diego there. Nat was hoping to strand Emiliano in Europe with BSC Renata, so what have they been planning for Suzy?

I knew I wasn't the only one of us who questioned Angeli's choice of footwear. Who in her right mind wears white stiletto heels in that weather?

Rebecca's fall guy could not have been Brayan with any credibility. He is not only not the same race but I think he is significantly taller than Santiago. So while both Rebecca and Doris had a motive for choosing Brayan they are better off now.

Lucas is in deep shit now. I hate how kids in this situation think they can get away with such things.

All of the "new" guy's (do we know his name?) cronies surely will be able to back up his claim he had no tattoo at the time of the murder. I suppose that even if they were to speak up, no one would care or believe them.

Yes, Lucas is indeed headed for a world of hurt and trouble.

I also find the different wardrobe choices interesting . Lor is consistent with the leather jacket and vast array of scarves. MAL and Ren dont wear much . Paula is layered up, but she is sick.

I am always changing channels when Paula appears , so I guess I miss scenes .

Has Alex actually left , or is he back...again?

Also cannot watch the scenes of MAL manipulating and abusing sweet Teo. Teo and Susy look around 6 to me , and I have been around a lot of kids.

Looks like both Angel and Mati have suitable alternatives to their sweethearts. Renata is a good guy (so far), but still I was surprised Gi gave him the thumbs-up to pursue Angel when she just married 2-3 days ago. The vet's son hopefully has no gang affiliation.

Brian went up a notch to me when he turned down Doris, dissing her parade of Ikers. But then he went down a notch when he swooned about Rebecca.

Loved all the Patio commentary on Angel's storm attire.

You are such a trouper, Diana, with your every episode recaps. You are doing an excellent job of it, especially considering the large cast and multiple villains.

The actor playing Rebeca/Refrida is really doing a good job. We'd like to smack the stuffing out of her, but she's good. She's manipulating the dickens out of Angelli, pretending to be her new best friend. Of course, last night she couldn't resist outright saying she's pretty sure JE will never forgive Angelli.

What I did notice is that, so far, JE isn't really going for Refrida's attempts to win him over. I cackled when she brought up that kiss she planted on him, and his response was it meant absolutely nothing. Viewerville didn't like that he didn't pull away when she did it, but I still think he's "not that into her". We saw some frustration on her face after, IIRC, a couple of times where she tried too hard and got nowhere.

Again, thanks Diane. I'm not sure I can roll with two novelas each night, and I am preferring El Amor no Tiene Receta. But this one is like a slow train wreck. It's hard to look away.

I so appreciate your confirming that Rebeca did tell Angel "she's pretty sure JE will never forgive" her. I try not to include things unless I'm fairly certain what was said, so I'm relieved I got that right.

Although JE lingered too long before breaking away from the kiss Rebeca planted on him I agree that (so far at least) he really insn't into her. Perhaps the fact he isn't easy prey is making him more attractive to her. That and the presidency of course. :)

It IS hard to look away from this. ITA!! I always enjoy your comments and hope you are able to continue watching. But I understand there is never enough time in a day to do everything we wish to.
