VIVIR #12 Part 1

¿Se casarán

The long-awaited day has finally arrived! Tables, laden with beautiful bouquets of white mixed flowers and pristine white tablecloths, are set outside on the picturesque grounds as guests start arriving. Monica and Adolfo shmooze, Bruno’s face a study in anger, as always. Luciano pulls back Fatima’s chair as she sits.

Angel, completely distraught confronts Santiago about Dulce’s murder. Shifty eyed Santiago insists he isn’t an assassin. When Angel threatens to go to the police, there is a lot of denying but I don’t believe he says anything to implicate Misael. I thought he might have threatened her but I have no idea what he might “have” on her??

Cris tells JP how handsome he looks; he answers that he is going to marry the love of his life. She blesses him as Don Emilio smiles ear to ear.

Elena comes in and seeing Angel’s countenance, immediately asks what the matter is. Santiago answers for his sister saying she is nervous and overly emotional. Elena comforts her and leads her from the room as Angel turns and stares daggers at pitiful Santiago.

Alma and Antonio are closing up for day, Alma commenting that she hates to go home with Rebeca not being there. A woman with a young girl arrives and Alma pinches the child’s cheek smiling broadly. I think they are going to babysit as Antonio promises chocolate to the child.

Angel is greeted by JE who tells her she looks beautiful. Her two-piece wedding outfit is a bit surprising and seems out of character for her.. Oh and then she tells him they aren’t getting married.!

JE is shocked. It doesn’t appear Angel’s unhappiness and desperation have registered! He very gently talks her off the ledge telling her he loves her with all his heart. Her face clouded with grief, she does start to say “mi hermano Santiago…”, but alas does not finish. You should have paid attention to that dude. The woman that you love would ordinarily be beaming and floating on a cloud. The Angel you see before you is desperately unhappy; something is seriously wrong.

With the ceremony about to begin, Angel walks down the aisle as Sebastian kisses his wedding ring.

It is important to note that the ceremony is a civil one. JE and Angel stand in front of the crowd as everyone claps. Rebeca lurks in the background and watches with almost a sneer.

Uh oh, Monica is giving another unwanted, ill-timed speech. Both Angel and JE shut her down and Cris affirms she will not allow her to ruin the day.

JE leads Angel to a glass table where the registry is waiting to be signed.

Gi and Elena talk, Elena is concerned about Angel and Santiago adds his two cents (sounds about right for how much his opinion is worth). Gi notices Rebeca and mentions it to Cris and Renato. Meanwhile, Rebeca calls Doris asking if she is sure the poison pen letter got delivered. She says yes and stormy eyed Rebeca says the wedding is beginning. Renato stalks up, grabs Rebeca’s arm and warns her off.

JE and Angel sign the registry as Monica and Misael spar, Misael looking miserable. Fatima turns and smiles at Luciano much to Bruno’s consternation.

The ceremony finishes and there is a long lingering kiss. My initial question, will they get married, has been asked and answered.

Angel and JE have the first dance amid cheers of love and support. Rebeca scowls in the background.

Iker is looking at his phone at a sexy picture of Doris as Jimena tries to talk with him. She is so sweet to him and he is just an SOB.

VIVIR #12 Part 2 of 2

Rebeca goes to the house with some pretense and give the housekeeper some sort of bag which she puts in their room. Rebeca is right behind her and goes into what we assume is JE’s room. She starts opening drawers and then finds the letter which had fallen behind the bedside table!! She opens JE’s luggage and slips it inside. She zips the case, takes whatever it was she had the maid put in the room and leaves.

Elena congratulates the happy couple as does Santiago. Angel regards him without a smile.

Monica badmouths JE. She notices Rebeca and he explains who she is. Rebeca goes right to JE to congratulate him. She says something about Renato, seemingly implying something…Sebastian comes over and JE’s attention is diverted.

Fatima and Luciano are sitting with his children, Mati looking miserable. She makes a comment about Monica and Luciano urges her to respect Fatima.

Bruno is carping to Misael who takes Santiago aside. Santiago tells Misael that Angel knows (I think) and Misael goes to punch him. He later seems to threaten him.

Brian is handing out money to his crew but when he tries to give Lucas a (small) cut, Lucas refuses. Brian insists.

Angel flashes back to several scenes, recalling the aftermath of Dulce’s death; she holds the wall for support. Renato comes in and asks her what’s wrong, to please confide in him. The rest of their conversation eluded me, but he seemed to wish her and JE the best. JE walks in and does not look happy asking if he is interrupting anything. Horrid Santiago intervenes and wants “a word.” I think he is begging Angel not to say anything.

Bruno is begging Fatima AGAIN and the answer has not changed. I am in love with Luciano, let me by she allows as she walks away.

Night is beginning to fall and the candles on the tables now lit. Don Emilio gives a lovely congratulatory toast to the newlyweds.

We see a beautiful red setting sun against the dark sky.

In their wedding night room, there is a trail of red rose petals leading to the bed where they spell out “te amo”. There is a flurry of soon to be broken promises, e.g. they will love each other the rest of their lives; I’m the happiest person in the world and of course “I will love you forever”.

At home, Jimena starts to kiss Iker but is quickly and firmly rebuffed. The alarm is sounding, does she not hear sirens and see the red lights flashing??

Luciano and Mati have a talk about love. She asks how it feels and he tells her how special it is, as he recalls being with Fatima. I’m sure his recollections of Bruno came completely unbidden 😊. Naturally, Mati thinks he is talking about Romina which couldn’t be further from the truth. She thinks about Lucas.

An angry Rebeca sits on the bed as a shirtless Misael comes in. He starts to get romantic as her thoughts are elsewhere…

The last scene is JE and Angel in bed. Angel does not appear to be indulging in afterglow; her worried and frightened expression says it all.

VIDA #38 Parte 1/2

Here’s the recap…Not in chronological order as I have lumped subplots together. Other scenes were left out as they were not impactful. Please add or correct anything you want. Porfis.

PEPE asks Isabela what’s going on with Paula. She and Gracia say “ nothing” and deflect by talking about Paula marrying a man she doesn’t love. FFWD>>>

Andrea and Lucía make up and hug. And all is right in teen-landia and telenovelalandia.

MALAFA – Rafa tells mal that they are now free to form a family with Pepe’s blessings. Mal is ready but Rafa doesn’t seem to be. He needs time to think about this. He wonders how many other guys she has been with (NOW he thinks about this???) He thinks she is a sex addict. Mal slaps him.

Methinks Rafa has woke up, smelled the coffee, and realized that he is stuck with a woman who cheats on her husband, so if he forms a family she is likely to cheat on HIM. Well, duh.

Later, Malena’s new angle is telling Rafa she is a sex addict, has hit her bottom, and has decided to get therapy for it.She wants to do whatever is necessary to cure herself for them and the baby. This is the first time she has hit bottom and wants help to change. She seduces Rafa. (he is so easy…barf) Pepe walks up and interrupts them.

Pepe tells Malafa he has made a decision. He wants custody of Teo (I’m pretty sure that’s what he said) and you tow continue with your lives. Mal isn’t happy and consoles herself with continuing to seduce Rafa. Ewww.

EMILIANO AND RENATA – Ugh. Here’s the deal, Patio, just FFWD>>> thru all these scenes. It’s pretty obvious to everyone that Renata has a one-way first class ticket on the Train to Crazytown. The little harpy does her ugly crying, all distressed, trying to get sympathy from Emiliano. Reni is all “te amo, tea mo” and hugs or kisses Emi. Lucia walks in on them and sees this, She starts to leave but Reni leaves instead. EMiliano feels guilty about Reni’s situation. Luci says do what you have to do.

MAL tells Alex that she is convinced Emiiano will try to seduce Luciá, who is a minor, and it’s against the law. (get a grip, woman!) All Alex has to say is he reminds Mal she has until the end of the month to get her stuff off his land.
 

VIDA Parte 2/2

PAULA is at her first radiation treatment. Later she is napping and dreams of being with Pepe, smiling in her sleep. Lorenzo is there with her. Apparently the radiation is already working because when she wakes up, she tells Lorenzo that she made a mistake marrying Rolando; she wants to spend her final days with Pepe. He tells her to follow her feelings and he will support her in everything.

The doctor tells Paula she will have fatigue, nausea, and vomiting.(PSA) He encourages a healthy, balanced diet.(more PSA) Her radiation treatments will be 15 minutes/day for three weeks, with weekends off … if I understood him correctly… She plans to tell the kids she is on a business trip. Lorenzo will cover things at home. Whatever.

Natalia tells Paula that her will is ready to be signed. Paula wants to delay that task and instead, tells Nat she wants an annulment of her marriage. (Patio cheers “finally!”)

LORENZO tells Rolando that Paula started radiation treatment. Rol didn't know. This couple has zero communication skillz. Nothing new here.

ROLANDO has been a busy guy tonight. First he talks to Isabela, who tells him to stop extorting Pepe. He claims Pepe is trying to destroy his marriage. They trade threats while he shows us what a snake he is.

Rol also had a convo with Rosa, asking her how long she plans to deceive Los Lugo from knowing she is Natalia’s mother. He tells Rosa that Nat is dangerous and not to be trusted, and that Nat will benefit monetarily when Paula dies. Then he demands that Rosa leave immediately, as in….you’re fired.

ROMEO & JULIET --- Luci is mad to Emiliano talked to Mal (who told him to stay away from Luci). She’s mad that Mal threatened to call the police if Emi continues to see her. So here these kids are stuck with the Capulets and Montagues hating each other. Hopefully this story won’t have the same ending.

BACK AT THE HOSPITAL, Paula has her back to the door and calls Pepe. They share sweet nothings. Rolando has walked into her room and hears it all. He is not a happy camper. She didn’t even tell Rolando she was at the clinic. Paula says she didn’t mean to deceive him. He acts muy hurt that she called Pepe instead of him. She tells him she plans to be with Pepe when she gets out.

Doris, another superb outing with the perfect amount of spark and snark.

Also loved your rant about the radiation already working as Paula seems to be coming to her senses! If only she'd done so before marrying Rol...

I was actually embarrassed when Pepe walked up on MAL and Rafa pawing each other. Pepe handled himself admirably. Yet neither Rafa or MAL had any sense of shame or guilt as they resumed their grappling immediately after Pepe left. So much for Rafa's resolve. MAL certainly didn't seem heartbroken Pepe was filing for custody did she? Take heed Rafa...

Rol is a putrid, manipulative liar.

What do Ren and Rol have in common? Both are unwatchable.

I know Rolando is a bad guy, but it's a bit too convenient for the writers to make him bad because now I'm supposed to want Paula to end up with Pepe. How would it look if she had married a good man who is in love with her because she thought he would look after her kids and later told him she'd get involved with someone else? I know love is supposed to be selfless and so on, but no matter how good you are, you would still be hurt by something like this I imagine. Paula is now in the consequences be damned phase, but it's not much of a change if she previously was in 'work is all that matters' phase. I do think she should spend more time with her kids.
Why did Isabela go to Rolando? Is she so stupid as to think he threatens in vein? What can she do to stop him? Well, tell the truth, but she won't, so she can do absolutely nothing as usual.
Malena is quick and Rafa is still rather gullable because I bet he'll give in eventually.
It was funny that Renata at first was very 'I'm so sorry' but got mad once she learnt Emiliano and Lucia are novios. They think she took it well, but the change still seemed rather abrupt.

Great work, Doris.

If Angeli doesn't tell JE now we're in for the Mandatory Temporary Estrangement which could leave the field open for ReFrida and provide more ammo for Monica. If I'm right that could last at least two weeks' worth of episodes. The fact that she doesn't know about that little pendejo's gambling is not helping this situation. If she also ends up pregnant I will probably have a conniption.

We all know Monica will.

Monica was her usual declassee self not only demanding the wedding be stopped but doing so loudly enough to draw attention. Adolfo should have left her home.

The little girl ReFrida's parents will be babysitting is older than Suzy in Vida and should therefore not sound like her. I wonder whether Alma still needs mental health assistance.

Fashion Review:

It looks like Misael has been manscaped. Good idea.

Monica's hair is now a better colour; lipstick is still obscene.

Angeli's bridal attire was weird.

ReFrida wore red and black, both of which are inappropriate. Not to mention showing off the twin girls.

"Mandatory Temporary Estrangement" is exactly right. I fear the window for Angel to fess up is now closed. She needed to tell him before they married. It appears that letter will soon be opened and the fallout will be fast and furious.

"Monica's hair is now a better colour; lipstick is still obscene" nailed Monica's "luke" to a "T".

ReFrida's black and red was hideous. No fashion sense at all.

I'm already wondering if the little girl Alma and Antonio will be babysitting will end up being something more. I have very mixed emotions about that.

Not sure that MALena is a sex addict in the purest sense. Sex for her is the validation of her ability to attract men. Why else do we never see her in normal clothing?

Rafael seems en route to a realization of this but is still vulnerable. He is likely to be derailed by her at least once.

Rolando is becoming unhinged.

Paula needs to tear up the will and get a new lawyer.

Emiliano needs to learn about BPD.

I really wasn't expecting that the wedding would happen! Unfortunately, the honeymoon will be very short, pobrecita Angel!

Monica sure is intent on clipping Angel's wings. She has been tryin to convince JE that Angel is only after his money because the restaurant is in the red, and now she is insinuating that here was something going on between Angel and Renato ( who I finally figured out was Luis on "Eternamente Amandonos") and that Angel chose JP over Renato. What a beyotch!

Santiago didn;t threaten Angel., but he did warn her that if she told JP anything, she would lose him. Later, after his talk with Misael and after there ceremony, Santi told her that Misael had told him that the cops had a suspect, but NIsael hadn't mentioned anything to JE until they were sure of the suspect.

I think that the little girl who Alma and Antonio are going to babysit is the same little girl who helped Don E when he was lost. IIRC, her name is Lili and she is Marisa's daughter.

I(c)ker is just plain ICKY! He's just not icky, he's stupid to be looking at Dulce's pics while sitting right next to Jimena...I was hoping Jimena would catch sight of what he was looking at.

Thanks Diane, great job. I was on pins and needles wondering if the wedding would actually happen. Are there plans for a religious service at a later date or is that something we don’t know yet?

I think Misael said something about getting a common robber to take the blame. My first thought was Lucas, who is already in over his head and regretting it.

My original thoughts were Monica would hate Rebeca because she is a true gold digger, which is what she always accuses Angel of being. But last night I realized they have so much in common and will probably join forces. I think they are probably worse than Misael, who won’t be happy when he realizes what Rebeca’s been up to.

I sure wish Fatima had not told Bruno she loved Luciano. He is much worse than Misael, I sometimes think he’s the “brains” behind their plans.

Both Reni and Rol are getting that crazy, unhinged look, I think I would be more scared of those two than Nat. I fear for Lucy, Paula and Pepe.

Thanks Doris, that was great, the episode not so much. Most upsetting to me was Rol firing Rosa. I’m already worried she’ll really go and they won’t be able to find her and get her back. Who does Rol think is going to care for the house and cook. My thoughts on him and Paula are that he knew it was not going to be a real marriage and maybe he has feelings for Paula but the money is the big draw. I hate how he talks to her.

Rosa needs to confront Nat with the things Rol said. Then Rol and Nat will turn on each other.

Reni is manipulative, a future Nat. I hope Emi doesn’t go back with her. Luci is so understanding, telling him to do what he has to do. I think she is too good for him so really don’t care how that triangle turns out.

Rafa has finally realized MAL will cheat on him like she cheated on Pepe. But with her eye on a future millionaire father-in-law she agrees she’s a sex addictive and will get help. I’m hoping Rafa and Alex do go to Spain together. I can almost see Rol and MAL having a fling.

I thought the treatment Paula was getting was something new, an experimental thing. I didn’t realize it was just the radiation, which would just give her a few more months. They’re running out of time to save her!

Thank you, Diana, for a lovely recap of an odd wedding. I personally thought the wedding would be called off the second I saw the two-piece wedding outfit, but I was wrong. Angel actually didn't look bad in the outfit, cute even, just not formal and wedding-linke.

Monica is too much!!! You'd think she'd be too proper to make a public scene at the wedding but of course not... I still have problems with Monica, there's something about the portrayal that just doesn't ring true. I still have the feeling like Angel should be beneath her notice and attention. It makes no sense to me that's she so obsessed with her marrying JE. She should be preoccupied getting Misael the presidency and stupidly obsessed with keeping her sister away from her husband, even though her sis isn't interested in her husband... she's too attached to this Angel thing. If this was a different type of novela I'd wonder if JE was secretly Monica's son, cause that would explain her obsession over who he marries, but I don't think we'll have that twist here. Then again, she criticized Fatima for showing up with Luciano too, so maybe she's just obsessed with criticizing Cris's children and making Misael look better.



Santiago not only said that Angel would lose him, but also that she'd lose her mom - who would be angry with her for accusing her brother, and she'd lose JE, who would leave her if he believed that her brother killed his sister.

I actually feel torn about the Angel telling angle. I know it's novelaland and it's going to come back and bite her big time that she didn't. But in reality, Angel doesn't KNOW anything! She suspects but she doesn't know. If she did tell, she'd tell JE that Santi killed Dulce, which isn't the truth anyway.... she doesn't know what happened. On the other hand, she has really good reason to believe her brother was involved in Dulce's death somehow and that's a h*ll of a secret to keep!! I suppose I would be in favor of Angel telling JE that she realizes Santi was at the house the night of the incident because she saw the guy with the tattoo and she just realized he has that tattoo, but I'm opposed to her saying Santi killed Dulce, because he didn't, and she doesn't know what happened.

Monica tells Misael that she's found someone to testify that her father's signature is forged and he will be able to take the presidency from JE because no one will support him now..

Oh Liz, I hope that can't blame Lucas!!! He's a little boy! I would hate that! They could falsely blame Brian though, I'd be okay with that.

Thanks everyone for your comments. The story keeps trucking along, with just enough new developments to keep us watching.

I really don't see how Rolando has the authority to run off Rosa, unless he has intimidated her enough that she quits. She somehow seems crucial to the story, especially in the Gracia corner.

Emiliano got mixed up with a BSC girl and has no crucial much-needed mature adult guidance on dealing with it. These kids should not be having to raise themselves.

MAL will do whatever it takes to keep Rafa on the line and cash in on that future inheritance.

Liz, proton therapy/cancer treatment is fairly new, but it is still a type of radiation treatment. Briefly, here is what I found on it—
“ Proton therapy uses high-energy proton beams instead of x-ray beams to treat cancer. Proton beams are more precise than x-ray beams which allows for more energy to be used to attack cancer cells with minimum damage to nearby healthy tissue and vital organs.”

Thanks for the info on the treatment Rgv Chick. So maybe this is the miracle they’re hoping for. Although Paula is still making her plans, saying Pepe would be good with her kids. And he definitely would, he seems all about caring for others. That’s why Paula needs to tell him. He’d be so much nicer and caring than Rol.

"pobrecita Angel!" Oh my yes! To be fair, she was in an untenable position. Angel was still absorbing the shock of seeing Santiago's tattoo and imagining the worst. Her wedding mere hours away, she was hardly able to think straight. Yes, she should have told JE immediately, but she didn't. Every tick of the clock makes her cover up more egregious. I feel this will be the shortest honeymoon in TN history.

In (very much missed) days gone by, most TNs ended with a glorious church wedding. Having a couple do a civil ceremony (only) allows time for secrets to emerge and be solved prior to the religious "big event". Angel's two piece non-traditional wedding garb is another clue that this was just a precursor to the extravant white wedding with obligatory white veil and gorgeous gown. Only my opinion...

I agree about Bruno. He is hot tempered, hot blooded and therefore, quite dangerous.

Well, they married . The two piece wedding dress was unusual but very pretty and understated , and Kim has a great figure .

Refrida , on the other hand, did not look good in that illfitting black and red outfit.

Waterlily, I was shaking my head when Isa confronted Rol. While well intentioned, it was not a good idea. Pepe needs to fight his own battles.

Everyone had such astute comments about Rol. As you noted Urban, he is indeed becoming "unhinged". His eyes are now starting to glint, a very troubling sign as is the way he speaks to Paula now (thanks Liz).

Doris, thank you for another great recap.

Wow, Ren just keeps being Ren . I have noticed that she likes to sprinkle her lines with English, but I usually cannot understand what she's saying in English . I wonder if she thinks she speaks English well?

Rafa and MAL start going at it like bunnies in the open doorway as MAL starts her new campaign to get the rich kid who does not yet know his dad is rich. Does MAL forget that she has a bedroom with a door ?

I think Paula has started on the path to her miracle . I lost two close friends to cancer in the last five years. I wish they could have had miracles .

Onward we go to the happy , blended family I am expecting at the end ...with sweet Rosa as the upbeat housekeeper after Nat and Rol get their anvils.

Super job, Diana. ITA there are signs that this quick civil wedding is a sign that the "real" (lasting) one is yet to come.

Angel and JE are not superstitious about the groom seeing the bride in her gown before the wedding. That's a first for me.

I think JE thinks Angel was down about her finance problems. He's been offering to help out the restaurant since the TN began.

I get that things happened so fast that Angel couldn't think straight. But still she's looking like a dummy. Santiago says the cops are closing in on the real killer. How could this be when a prime witness - Santiago - hasn't alerted them to what he saw? Angel still has not been repaid the money Santiago owes her. She now knows Santiago has a gambling problem. Why does she believe anything he says? Poor Angel has fallen in a trap and is sinking fast.

Monica is something else. She even commented on Fatima dating a mere employee, Bruno.

Alma and Antonio were so sweet with the little girl. Will Refrida be jealous of her?

I'm jumping the gun here and speculation only, but I'm wondering if something is going to happen to the little girl's parents and Alma and Antonio will end up adopting her??

VIVIR #13 Part 1

We dance round in a ring and suppose, but the secret sits in the middle and knows – Robert Frost

The dialogue was far too fast and furious tonight for me, especially at the end of the week when I am more than tired. I’m unsure what I interpreted correctly, but I had the best of intentions. I tried. Please add to or correct.

We see a glorious sky and a hotel on a cliff…the camera pans to Angel wrapped in a luxurious white quilt. She picks up a rose and reads a sweet note from her new and adoring husband.

Iker leaves to start his day but little does he know Jimena is hot on his trail.

Cris and Fatima have a heart to heart. Fatima asks her to accept her decision about Bruno. As she effuses about Luciano, her face lights up with a luminous glow. She is so happy, enumerating his fine qualities and mentioning his children. Chris embraces her in a bear hug, smiling.

Speaking of the hijos, Javier is teasing Mati about Lucas. Mati insists he is not her novio! Luciano enters and announces that he better not be. The family prepares for their outing, Luciano giving Mati a shirt to wear and when she stares with disappointment, he smiles and gives her something much better.

Lucas is on the phone saying “no, no…)

Brian, our resident gang leader, accosts Rebeca near the restaurant and she hits him on the chest telling him not to ruin things for her. They verbally spar and she tells him to leave. He gives her an insulting puckered lip kiss from afar as he leaves.

Ahhh, Jimena is following Iker and sees him drive up to an apartment building.

Luciano, Fatima and the kids are in an amusement park. Miraculously, it seems they are all getting along. Lucas comes up and Luciano offers his hand, introducing himself as does Fatima. Luciano puts his arm around Mati’s neck protectively. He “warns” Lucas off and smiles, but it doesn’t reach his eyes.

Rebeca calls Misael: “hi baby” who is with Bruno.

There is an impressive sequence of Brian (literally) tumbling and free falling over high walls, falling to earth safely (but obviously not soundly) meeting up with his cronies.

Mati and Lucas share cotton candy as they enjoy rides and later, video games.

Iker arrives home, his son is thrilled to see him. Ick-er is too tired and has no time for him. Jimena confronts him as to where he’s been, with his amante? He acts righteously indignant and somehow turns everything around, saying everything is her fault! He has her crying in less than a minute.. He puts his coat on and leaves. She slumps on a chair.

Elena asks Rebeca if she is happy and Rebeca answers she is (liar).

VIVIR #13 Part 2 of 2

Back in a more joyous place (at least for a moment), Angel and JE are blissfully happy. We see the beautiful water and mountains outside the window. He pulls out a small red box AND the poison pen letter. He opens the letter and reads it, his face registering incredulity and horror. As Angel approaches with two frothy looking drinks, he explodes and demands an explanation.

We hear a drum sounding like a heartbeat. JE accuses her and Angel says yes she knew but let her explain. Your brother murdered my pregnant sister he rages. She says she tried to tell him (which she did; sort of). She denies she is Santiago’s accomplice. JE is livid…why he says, holding out his hand, showing his wedding ring. He calls himself an imbecile. He starts throwing dishes and I think he accuses her of using him for his money. He will never forgive her and stalks out. She hold the letter and seeing the red box, opens it. It was a gold heart necklace. She collapses on the floor.

Basketball, go carts, this non-date seems to be going swimmingly and interminably. Lucas kisses Mati as Luciano looks on, hands over his face.

Rebeca and Misael are in bed, she talks about Brian and something about the restaurant and the police.

In the immediate aftermath, Angel folds her arms tight against her chest. JE is consoling himself belting down shots on an outside patio. They are both miserable. Angel starts to call him but changes her mind. JE recalls a conversation with Dulce regarding Angel. She likes Angel and wants them together; she says many flattering things about Angel, saying she is wonderful. He says how marvelous he thinks Angel is. But now, his words about Angel now are bitter and unforgiving. Angel, curled up in the fetal position, cries, asking where are you??

Back at the never-ending date, everyone is having dinner joined by a 5th party, a huge teddy bear meriting his own seat at the table.

Lupe and Luis arrive home and it seems they have been robbed. Lucas runs to his room and finds a note but I have no idea what was said. Brian and his posse plan.

Doris (taking a well-deserved break from her MENSA activities), is practicing tossing pieces of popcorn into her mouth when Iker shows up in all his non-glory. They waste not a moment.

Back on the honeymoon of horrors, Angel awakens the next morning to see JE packing his suitcase, vitriol dripping from his lips. JE wants a taxi to the airport. NOW.

Monica, in a flaming red dress, is yapping at Adolfo when JE calls! We only hear Adolfo’s end of the conversation but I believe he relays the jist of what occurred. Monica grabs the phone and JE repeats he only wants to talk to his tio.

I think Santiago tells Elena he owes money but not sure if he tells her why.

Poor Jimena calls Angel in the midst of all this. JE rushes back into the room and actually grabs the phone out of her hand. He is like a raving maniac, reaming her out. She can’t get a word in edgewise; he is my brother she says in defense. His rage spills over as he says he will never forgive her as she blurts out she loves him. This was almost impossible to watch.

Monica calls Misael and I think she fills him in.

Santiago is packing his bags…

A livid Misael is driving and calls Santiago, he tells him JE knows!

Rebeca muses about JE and Misael to Doris.

Don Emilio and Cris, not knowing the world has come to an end, talk about Angel and JE. All of a sudden JE appears but even more shockingly, is not alone. Angel is right behind him. That must have been a hell of a horrible trip home. Don asks what happened. Fatima apologies to both Cris and DE and asks for forgiveness. I don’t believe she says exactly what happened and she leaves. What happened Cris asks? JE says something to the effect that Santiago is the person who broke into the house. He is the assassin who murdered Dulce!

TU VIDA # 39 Part 1/2

Here are the highlights for Episode #39. Not necessarily in chronological order. Please add or correct anything omitted that you think is crucial.

PAULA - we continue with the hospital scene where Paula tells Rol she loves Pepe, that she recognizes Rol has been a great friend to her and her kids, and she just wants to make right all the mistakes she has made. They argue until Lorenzo walks in.

GRACIA & ISA discuss the PAULEPE situation Isa tells Gracia about Paula’s tumor and prognosis. Gracia says Pepe can make his own decisions about Paula if he learns about the tumor. Isa just wants to protect Pepe and tells Gracia to stay out of all this.

ANDREA obviously read my previous recap. She points out to Luci that their families are like the ones in Romeo & Juliet but Luci’s can have a different ending.’

LOOKS LIKE ROSA is still on the payroll at Casa Lugo. She tells Natalia that she doesn’t like how she has changed and is also upset about Nat flirting with Rol. She doesn’t like Rol (who does?). She also tells Nat that Rol threatened her.

MAL visits Pepe to hand over her keys. She probably has copies, but we don’t care. She thanks him for supporting her and Rafa’s relationship. Lucia walks in and yells at Mal about her threats against Emiiano. MAL tells Lucia that she (Malena) has a serious disease --- “infamia” --- and suggests Lucia look it up. (well, I did, and I still don’t understand what she means. Whatevs.) MAL tells Lucia she never wanted to be unfaithful and is going to attend therapy. Pepe steps in and points out this isn’t an appropriate conversation in front of Lucia.

Mal finally leaves and the air is no longer sulfuric. Lucia tells Pepe she is in love with Emiliano. It’s her first love. Pepe is supportive.

ROLANDO tells Natalia she will end up in jail. She says HE will end up there for murder. Rol threatens to expose Nat. He will kill her if she tells anyone about Gérman. She laughs and calls him a small man, and points out how Paula prefers an hombre equis over him. Rol says he will not lose Paula. Natalia fires back that Paula is not going to sign the will and also asked Nat to file for an annulment of the marriage.

Natalia is determined that Paula not die intestate (without a will) and that Rolando needs to get control of all the assets. She suggests he let Paula have her affair with Pepe but stay married to Rolando, for their financial motives. Rolando says he would rather see Paula dead than with Pepe. Nat says that once the will is signed, Rol can do whatever he wants about PaulEpe.
 

TU VIDA #39 Part 2/2

PAULA doesn’t like the side effects of radiation and tells the doctor she is done. No more. Her children think she’s on a business trip in the city and how will she hide al this from them? Back home, Emiliano points out the irony of Paula uprooting them to move here to the boonies and Paula is back in the city ‘on business. (And I still don’t know if she will go back for more radiation. Did I miss something?)

ROLANDO goes to see Pepe and tells him that Paula confessed she is in love with Pepe, that he won’t oppose it, and reminds Pepe that the Castillo’s family secret (Rafa’s bio-dad) is safe with him…for now. They argue. Rolando says he is doing this because he (barf) loves Paula so much, and that he also wants him and Pepe to be allies. Antler bashing, lather, rinse, repeat.

LORISA agree that Pepe should know the truth about Paula’s tumor.

PAULA returns home very weak and walking tentatively. ’ Paula tells Rosa she hopes to cover up all the side effects of the radiation treatment.

ISA asks Pepe if he still thinks of Paula. He says yes, 7/24, but after the Malena fiasco, he doesn’t want anything to do with love.

ANDREA is furious with her dad, asking when was he going to tell her that he is going to Spain with Alex? She asks if he is simply running away from his problems (astute young lady!). Rafa says he needs time and distance from the whole mess, and … to decide if he wants to ask Malena to marry him. Rafa says he plans to return a couple of months before the baby is due.
Rant alert: Wow, this guy will never get Father Of The Year. Who plans to leave the country for a few months, without telling his own teenage daughter? Was Rafa dropped on his head as an infant? The lights are on but nobody’s home.

ROLANDO visits RENATA. He wants to know how she’s doing over Emiliano. She believes that when Emi is done with Lucy, he will return to her. Also, her bra is visible under her very. short. crop. top. every time she raises her arms. Rolando stays on task, probably doesn’t notice, and tells Reni that she can count on him to help separate Emi and Luci.

Rolando tells Paula he is willing to support her re: Pepe; he only wants her to be happy, she deserves it. The Patio peeps are rolling our eyes.

EMI & LUCI – are KISSING, HE SAYS HE LOVES HER. Mal walks up, starts hurling insults. Lucia tries to run Mal off. Emi stands up to her. Mal stomps off to "take measures."

Drama Queen Mal goes to Paula and asks if she knows her son is corrupting Lucia. Mal also brings up Paula being Pepe’s amante….in front of Susy. Mal insists, in front of Rolando and Susy, that Paula have the guts to act on what she feels for Pepe.

Later, Lucia tells Pepe about Mal and her threats. Pepe tells Luci she has HIS permission to date Emiliano, and asks Emi if he is respectful to Luci.

Diana, thank you amiga for this wonderful recap of a hard to watch episode! You interpreted it right! And it was dour.

I have a hard time understanding Brian, I don't know if it's because he's using so much slang or because he's mumbling, but I can't ever understand exactly what he's saying - even if I rewind multiple times. He does seem to be obsessed with Refrida though and he now wants to either rob or just watch the restaurant to see if Refrida is with another guy. When Refrida and Misael were talking about Brian, they were talking about framing him for Dulce's murder, they just have to figure out how to get the tattoo on him. Oh, and the note at Lucas's house said something along the lines of: This is what happens when you stand us up, you better not do it again!'

I found it odd the Fatima, who is hiding her 'relationship' with Luciano because of the kids, went with Luciano and the kids to the amusement park..... what's that, like hiding in plain sight? LOL

I had a feeling this would be the episode to make me turn on the galan, and I was right!!! I hate these stupid contrived 'I found an anonymous note telling me your the devil so now I'm going to yell and scream and break all the plates' type scenes!!! EJ immediately believed Santi killed his sister without a second's thought and turned ugly on Angel without giving her much of a chance to speak!!! How do you love someone whole heartedly one minute and believe the absolutely worst of them with minimal provocation one minute later??? Not even a second to stop and think: 'Santi killed Dulce? What? Why? How could that be? Santi wouldn't do that?' Never mind taking a second to doubt that Angel would be his accomplice. Of course, Angel didn't do herself any favors by simply saying she knew, and not pointing out that she found out (or so she thinks) YESTERDAY!!! Still, even Monica when she found out from Aldolfo's side of the conversation said something like: 'Santi killed Dulce? I knew they were up to no good, but that???' When the aunt who hates your wife and thinks she's a worthless gold digger expresses doubt at the news, but you didn't even blink, it's because you're no galan!!! Of course, it's the fault of the writers, but still, I hate this type of reaction... if they had an actual conversation and JE ended up believing the worst after hearing Angel out I could accept it far easier than this way. The idea that an anonymous note could convince the man who LOVES you to hate you so easily is just illogical to me, but then maybe I just don't know all of the wrong people, thank God!!!

Misael wants Santi out of the country before he gets arrested, and Doris warns Refrida that she's planning with fire - what if Misael finds out she's the one who told JE? Refrida says she's hedging her bets! She doesn't know that Misael will end up president, and she IS going to end up with whoever the winner is!!! But for now, her top priority is ruining Angel's life! Pathetic.

Diana, thank you so much for another great recap as this story gets darker. I look forward to reading your take on this story as it tumbles forward.

This is the point in the plot when the galan goes BSC because he thinks his soulmate is not as good a person as he supposed . yikes ...We knew it was going to happen because the stoned in love lovers have to be driven apart before they get their HEA at the finale .

I hope that acrobatic Brian is part of ReFrida's downfall. He keeps popping up even though she keeps pushing him away.

The writers are setting up Renato to step in to console The bride now that her groom ,who vowed to love her para siempre , is reeling from the news about her brother and shunning her.

Misael has no idea that Refrida is playing him. He just seems so happy to have someone to soothe his tormented soul.

Super job. Diana. Fine detailing and your commentary is spot-on. I too am surprised JE and Angel rode back together. Ditto that Luciano's daughter tolerated Fatima joining her dad and bro to the park.

I still see Santiago running away when poor Dulce and her soon-to-be-born baby were shot and his not calling 911 anonymously. That Angel didn't tell JE as soon as she found out Santiago is the tattooed one is colmo.

That said, as Darcy points out, it's crazy that JE doesn't wonder who wrote the anonymous note. Somebody please please please call that sharp detective lady so she can do her work and follow clues. But I guess JE calling Adolfo instead advances the story better. ;>

Iker putting his wife on the defensive for always thinking about herself and not him and her falling for it -- YUCK!

You expressed the righteous indignation and frustration that all of us were feeling!!

And yes, he never gave Angel any chance to speak!! Again, that ride home together must have been pure unadulterated hell.

So, can JE fall any further? Sure he can. And that would be succumbing to Refrida once she finds out he is the (permanent) president which will likely happen soon.

I'm anxious (and afraid) to see what happens next...

If it weren't for that pesky tattoo, Brian might well be behind bars as we speak. That said, I don't think he is a good choice to frame; he knows too much, especially about Refrida. The smarter thing would be to target an easier patsy.

Yes, that woman detective (wish I knew her name) is very smart. Let's hope she continues on the case.

When she got home, Paula seemed barely able to descend the few stairs even with Rol holding her. It was clear she is physically weakened and yet no one seemed to notice. Emi and Susi ran to her side, Diego sitting, staring defiantly. The crushed look on Paula's face was heartbreaking (no one does decimated like Susana).

"Rolando says he would rather see Paula dead than with Pepe. Nat says that once the will is signed, Rol can do whatever he wants about PaulEpe". Nat and Rolando really are a match made in hell.

I could not figure out what Paula is doing in terms of future radiation (or other) treatments.

How much longer will this drag on before Pepe finds out about Paula's condition?? Frustrating.

Thank you, Diana! I don't how you were able to grasp as much as you did of all the stupidity and frustrating, exaggerated fall outs. You are one tremendously talented recapper!

I was so pis...angry at JP for over-reacting, but I guess it's really the writer's fault. Angel was able to get a word in until much later, but she didn't give a very good account of how and when she found out about Santi. And how could she say that she new Santiago had killed Dulce when Santiago told her he was innocent. Just because of that darned tattoo?! I know the odds are not goo, but someone else could have gotten the same tattoo in the same part of the body. Which BTW is what Misael told Rebeca--that they needed to make sure Brina got that tattoo ASAP! Their plan is to have Brian caught stealing from the restaurant after he gets the tattoo.

And I thought the same thing about Mati's attitude toward Fatima at the carnival...she even sided with Fatima's comment that she was old enough to take care of herself. WT??

Once again, Icker is just ICK!! I wanted to throw something at Jimena for apologizing and saying she would do better and not demand so much from Ick. ARGHH!!

Rol going to tell Pepe that he was going to allow Paula to have a relationship was just so out there! I could not figure out what Rol gained by that.

When Mal told Lucia that she had a serious disease, she said she was a nymphomaniac.

Paula has to have at least three weeks of treatment. If i understood correctly, she gets 3 consecutive days of treatment then she can go home until the following week.

And ITA with Rant alert: Wow, this guy will never get Father Of The Year. Who plans to leave the country for a few months, without telling his own teenage daughter? Was Rafa dropped on his head as an infant? The lights are on but nobody’s home. He has sh$t for brains!) And once again, I marvel at how Andrea can be such a smart, sensitive girl with a father like "that" (I really find it hard to write "father" and Rafa on the same sentence!)

I cannot figure out why Rol thinks Airhead Ren can be of any help to him. She seems very out of it .Her only goal is having Emi.

I don't think Rafa is going anywhere . First of all, Andrea's mother is somewhere out there hovering and waiting to enter stage right . Second, Alex keeps telling anyone who will listen that he is " Going to Spain." ....but he never leaves .

Wow, has MAL self diagnosed herself as a nymph o manic or did a professional give her that diagnosis? Is that her excuse for her behavior?

Isabel drives me crazy . Make a choice .

It is very hard to watch Paula going through those treatments,. Sad. Too real.

I hope Jimena will find a dose of courage and leave Icky. He is just horrible.

Diana and Doris, Paula actually is going to continue the treatment. When the doctor asked her is she was ready to continue, she did say “no”, but then she added that she had already started it so she is going to complete it. She then asked if she could stay a couple of days more to recuperate. The doctor agreed and added that the ideal thing would be for her to go for the treatment on a daily basis and return home to rest. Paula worried that she would not be able to hide this from her children for much longer.

I was shocked that Santiago actually tried to deny to Angel that he was there, that it must have been someone else with the same tattoo. Wow!

Poor Angel, having to decide whether to come clean with JE and ruin the lives of her family and just about everybody except Monica, or keep quiet. I really felt bad for her, and then the camera rolled back and I saw what she was wearing, and it got worse. I was very surprised, it just seemed so out of place for her wedding. I'm as far from a fashionista as it is possible to be, but I do very much enjoy seeing good-looking women looking good. This was disappointing, especially for her wedding.

JE did a great job of convincing her to go ahead with the wedding; I'll see in a little how he reacts later.

Was that the Lady Marmalade manager there at the wedding? He got invited? Fatima was looking really good.

Monica was a bit of a shocker, quite aside from not showing any cleavage. Who goes to a wedding to say the things she said? What husband would not spirit her away before she could do more damage?

Renato has been mentioned a few times but only now have I connected a face with the name. But I still don't really know who he is -- ah, OK, chef at the restaurant. Does he have a thing for or against Rebeca? He was very nasty with her early on, but now? And later Rebeca tries to connect him with Angel, to JE. I think I have a limited capacity for remembering names and faces in novelas :-(
And maybe I need to be more careful when zipping past the commercials.

Diana, I have to agree with you, Iker is an SOB. And he might as well have told Jimena that he has a side piece after that kiss on the forehead, unless that's something they like doing, which I doubt.

I can't believe that she let him make her out to be in the wrong. How could she accept that? That's so 1940-ish.

A nice contrast was the Garza family outing with Fatima. That was fun... but for how long?

Rebeca and Bryan are interesting together, though Bryan didn't look too happy by the end of their conversation.

Add me to the list of people who found JE's reaction to the anonymous letter to be way, way too much.

Rebeca is really bad. But, yeah, I'm going to defend the bad girl. Only as a character in a novela, of course. She made me smile when she told Doris that she would eventually get JE or Misael or maybe Irving, whoever eventually comes out as the top dog. Only she matters, eventually she will need an appropriate consort, that's all.

I even liked her red and black outfit, though it was totally inappropriate for a wedding, or a funeral, for that matter.

I knew Bryan would be trouble eventually. He may also be in trouble. He is causing Lucas grief now, will Rebeca and Misael set him up as well? I hope it's not Lucas who gets set up.

As you said, "I don't think he[Bryan] is a good choice to frame; he knows too much, especially about Refrida. The smarter thing would be to target an easier patsy."
And, "I can't imagine what Misael and Refrida will say to Brian in order for him to willingly get that tattoo." The guy is not stupid, he would know he was being set up for something.

Interesting novela. When do we get to the fun part? :-p

I was so grateful for the amusement park trip which diverted us all too briefly from having to watch off the rails, out of control JE. I can't imagine how he and Angel are going to put their relationship back together.

I do think Brian/Bryan is an interesting character. As it appears he is going to be featured more prominently, I thought I should see if it is Brian or Bryan and found out it's Brayan. ☹ Drat. A much harder name to remember.

I've had an uneasy feeling for a while that Lucas is going to get framed for something...

I would also like some fun Andy. Or at least a little lightness. It's not too much to ask, is it??

Diana, regarding Brian Bryan Brayan, I use memory devices to remember names. For example to remember the name Glasbern , a name I could never remember , I formed a mental image of a glass set on a bonfire . Haven't forgotten that name since. Therefore, I now have the image of a braying donkey to remember the name Brayan. P.s. I hope we get to see him doing more of those acrobatics .

Sorry I'm late, Doris; the weekend went out of control.

Paula needs to tell her children the truth. The boys are old enough to understand, so I think Suzy must be the main reason she is holding back. The radiation will soon cause Paula's hair to fall out, which will repulse Rolando more than he claims to love her. Like most narcissists he will think that this will also repulse Pepe... who might be shocked if he is still in the dark when that happens but will understand within an episode or two.

I have to say that Juan Soler never did much for me in his galan days but he does make a very sexy senior dude! The haircut, wardrobe, and motorcycle suit him beautifully! The beard really brings out his smile.

My apologies, Diana for being so late.

I totally agree with both Daisy and Niecie about JE. He ranted at Angeli and did not allow her to explain any of this. Both should be wondering what really happened and this is compounded by that stupid buy not telling Angeli anything. She does not know that he only witnessed the shooting and that Misael is involved. As soon as she hesitated initially and got interrupted I knew it was going to go south like this.

When these things happen in opera it always leads to tragedy. This happens in the early scenes of La Forza del Destino, which I saw on Saturday afternoon.

If this had ever happened to me there would be no coming back from it. You can't unhear ugly words.

Misael is not smart enough to run a company; he doesn't plan well or make contingency plans in case anything goes wrong. That could mean that Rebecca could dominate him in future which would lead to her having less respect for him or none at all.

Luciano's daughter was "ambushed" at Fatima showing up in the park. This conflict won't be over quickly either.

I so agree that "you can't unhear ugly words"; JE's were exactly that, weren't they? Beyond cruel.

I agree that Misael is not intelligent enough to assume the presidency. In addition, I think he is very weak and susceptible to the far more street savvy Rebeca's suggestions.

I didn't realize Fatima joining Luciano and the kids was a surprise!!

Diana, thanks again for your great recaps, and now for going above and beyond to find out Brayan's actual name.

I even froze part of the scene where Lucas read the note from Brayan, but I misread it as Bryan! But you are right and it makes perfect sense, being spelled so in Spanish.

I hope they throw in a little fun tonight, not just the misery JE and Angel are experiencing.
