VIVIR #17 Part 1

The rain rages as JE comes across Angel’s abandoned car. The last vitriolic words he said to her reverberate in his head. The vet’s son alerts him and he runs off.

Rebeca, Sandy and Fatima are left together. No idle chatter, Rebeca tells Fatima that Angel was Santi’s accomplice. When she sees Fatima’s startled face, she realizes she spoke too quickly; and inappropriately. Fatima asks isn’t Rebeca Angel’s friend? Nopis viewerville chants loudly. Not in the slightest.

JE rushes to the river’s edge. JE pulls out a rope and descends, pulling Angel’s seemingly lifeless body out of the raging river.

Icky is having dinner with Jimena and his son. He decides to tell his son during dinner he is no longer going to be living there. And mama he asks? No she will be here with you. Jimena confronts him teary eyed and pulls him back. He is unapologetic and cruel. After he leaves, Jimena runs down the hall…

Angel is laid on the grass and JE administers mouth to mouth and CPR. Angel forgive me he pleads. He picks her up and carries her off.

Adolfo, Monica, and Misael are meeting, Monica feels a phone call to Fatima is sufficient. She calls her and they head out to the hacienda.

Icky runs to Doris who asks how his wife took the news. He starts unbuttoning his shirt the second he arrives but there is a knock on the door. He opens it and Jimena is standing there! No introductions are necessary, Jimena stares at his “amante”; Doris likewise at his “esposa”. Jimena calls Doris a zorra. Icker accuses Jimena of drama. Jimena berates herself and he tells her she is ridiculous. All these years she laments. She is so stupid. She thought her marriage was forever. Doris stares levelly but isn’t exactly remorsefully.

Lupe and Luis confront Lucas as to what is going on with him. It seems there are repercussions, Lupe takes his game box and Lucas begs and pleads.

Rebeca calls Doris bleating about JE. She says something about Renato (your “ex” Doris comments) but I don’t know what is said.

Elena, Gi and Renato are talking (what IS the Gi/ Renato connection?) Rebeca calls him and he is ice cold. When he hangs up, Gi tells him he looks like a ghost. He doesn’t tell them anything but rushes off.

Fatima calls Cris… Sandra and the young man who helped JF tell her Angel was found in the river. Is she dead Rebeca asks far too quickly. I believe Cris was still on the phone and heard all this. Monica is there to rub salt in the wound. Cris and Misael hurry out.

Rebeca picks up JE and Angel’s picture and with tears in her eyes, tells Angel she hates her.

JE holds Angel by a roaring fire, begging her to forgive him. Por favor he says kissing her. As he cradles her head in his hands, her eyes flutter and she starts to rouse. Be calm he murmurs. She is drowsy and drifts back to sleep. Te amo he says kissing her head and smiling.

Brayan and a few of his cronies are at Del Olmo. Brayan calls Rebeca who tells him he isn’t entitled to any explanations. She puts him off and he smiles.

Lily, followed by Alma and Antonio greets her mother and it seems they have been evicted.

VIVIR #17 Part 2 of 2

Cris, Renato, Luciano, Misael, and Fatima arrive at the hacienda. Rebeca beats a hasty retreat, ascending the stairs as if she owns the place. Rebeca peeks around the corner as JE lies Angel tenderly on the bed kissing her, It appears she has a nasty gash on her head. Rebeca walks in uninvited as JE trains a cool eye on her, telling her he is taking care of his wife. Love it.

Bruno calls Misael but he lies and says it’s his mother. They have to send a warning to Santiago.

Antonio seems to offer Lily and her mother Rebeca’s room. Alma doesn’t seem too sure.

Rebeca shows up berating Misael. I think Rebeca wants Misael to get Santiago out of jail right away so Angel isn’t able to testify.

Elena visits Santiago, as he swears he isn’t Dulce’s assassin. She murmurs he is innocent.

Rebeca reappears at Dulce’s door as JE comes out and seems surprised to see her. He asks to be alone; with his wife.! I think Angel tells him something along the lines of wanting to testify (is that right)

Rebeca visits a shirtless Misael.

Lucas calls Mati, I gather the X box is out of commission. 😊

Doris is actually cooking but alas Icky doesn’t like it. But he’ll live on love I add sarcastically. He complains a bit but doesn’t care. That apartment is beautiful I must say…

Romero shows his cohorts his newly minted tattoo. Lucas shows up and Brayan says something about Lucas’ good-looking mother which seemed like a threat.

Monica, in a fire red scarf shows up to confront Santiago. She tells him he must be silent.

Brayan has some nefarious plans for the restaurant which I didn’t understand. The guys don their helmets and take off on their motos.

A guard approaches Santiago’s cell and gets rid of the other guard. Santiago stands right at the bars and the guard stabs Santiago in the stomach!! He falls in agony.

Misael gets a call that the job is done.

Angel is standing before a mirror as JE comes up behind her and puts his arms around her. He pulls out the gold heart necklace and puts it around her neck. Rebeca, outside, stares, listening to their words of love. You are the love of my life he says as he picks her up and puts her on the bed. Rebeca stares evilly at the closed door.

Diana

Vivir

Diana, thank you for another great replay of all the wheeling and dealing.

Wow, JE turned around speedy quick. So...Angeli had a head wound , but he didn't take her to the hospital and let her go to sleep. Okay.

I am glad that Jimena followed Icky and found his lovenest. She should find a good lawyer . He's your problem now, Doris. Enjoy.

Fun seeing Monica in the babushka.

Susan

Is Santiago dead ?

Doesn't anyone think it's odd that Refrida is at the hacienda acting like part of the family?

VIVIR

Susan, thanks so much!

Yes, no hospital, no doctor, not even a bandage for Angel's head wound! I guess JE was the only salve she needed. Sigh...

Oh my yes, Rebeca was the uninvited, unwanted guest who would just not go away! I couldn't believe her nerve, trying to enter the bedroom not once but twice. And JE, having to literally dismiss her. Yet, she finds her way back and listens outside the door.

As Santiago was standing right against the bars, he took the full impact of the thrust of the blade which looked farily signifcant to me. I don't think he's dead though. It's too early to have such a major storyline end...

Diana

Vivir de amor

Diana, thank you for another great recap that I really needed. This chapter had me totally dazed and confused; I wasn't sure of anything. I'm beginning to wonder just how much of this novela has come in one eyeball and out the other without ever touching what brain cells I have left.

Renato, for instance. At first I thought he was a bad guy, then I wasn't sure. Now it seems he has a thing for Angel, which I didn't know, but everybody in the novela seems to know.

Iker is a little easier, he's definitely icky. Kudos to Jimena for following him and finding the love nest, as Susan said. But I suspect that Icky will not be getting a whole lot of love now. Which only serves him right.

I was not impressed with JE's rescue of Angel, but good enough, he got her out of the water still alive. Nice fire going in that, what, cave? Boy scout skills maybe.

I really do not remember falling asleep tonight, but I keep wondering if maybe I did. Thank goodness for this recap!

"Brayan and a few of his cronies are at Del Olmo. Brayan calls Rebeca who tells him he isn’t entitled to any explanations." Ah! Maybe, just maybe, something finally makes sense to me. One of the gang has his brand new tattoo, just like Santiago's. Maybe, we'll see.

I have been enjoying, somewhat, Monica's nonsense up until now. But when she and Misael get together to plan bad things it kinda gives me the creeps.

Anyway, I at first thought that the guard had killed Santiago, but maybe not. This might be part of the setup involving the dope who now has a tattoo identical to Santiago's. Much as Santiago is a real jerk, I would prefer he not be killed.

Andy

Vivir de amor

One more thing, a small thing I suppose. JE was quite nasty, almost brutal, telling off Angel. I think we all suspected (ha, ha) that they would get back together, but really, no sore feelings? all over and done with?

Ok, the whole truth has not yet come out, but nonetheless I would advise JE to sleep with one eye open.

Andy

VIVIR

Andy, thank you so much...

I thoroughly enjoyed all of your razor sharp observations and comments.

"This chapter had me totally dazed and confused; I wasn't sure of anything" had me laughing away. To be honest that has pretty much been my mantra from the beginning!

I think the writers are purposely trying to keep us baffled, especially regarding who is "a good witch" and who is "a bad witch". I'm still in the dark about Renato. Moreover, rather than concentrating on trying to figure out what he's saying, I find I'm wondering why Gi shares the majority of his scenes. Are they related? Friends? So frustrating.

"Iker is a little easier, he's definitely icky" said it all! 😊

I'm thinking Santiago survives, but maybe not. We should find out tommorrow.

Diana

VIVIR

Andy, Angel doesn't seem to be harboring any ill feelings toward JE, you are exactly right.

Forgive and forget? Well, she is nice enough that is possible. But, I think his anger and resentment will bubble up again...

Diana

Vivir

Gracias Diana, you weave this story into gold!

I don't think Renato and Gi are related. In Spanish relatives tend to call each other by their relations. You see siblings refer to each other as 'hermano/a' Last night when Fatima answered the phone and it was Monica, she said 'hola tia', cousins, you hear 'primo/a' with every greeting. Renato is the chef of the restaurant and Gi is Elena's oldest friend and probably has always been a staple at the restaurant. I'm guessing they are just friends. It seems clear Renato is very close to the family, Elena called him 'mi vida' the way you would your own child when he left last night.

The vet's son's name is Gabriel and how lucky that he happened to be hanging out in the middle of a rain storm to see Angel fall in the river, huh? Btw, later when Mati was talking to Lucas on the phone, she went on and on about what a hero Gabriel was in saving Angel, Lucas was not amused/ ie. jealous.

Speaking of Lucas, he told his parents that he robbed the house because he needed money to go to the amusement park, ie. his date with Mati. They believed him and yeah, he's grounded from gaming.

Jimena FINALLY told Iker off!!! She told him that he doesn't deserve her and not to expect her to take him back! She's calling a lawyer and he's going to pay very dearly for this, she's going to take everything!!!

Yeah, Angel's rescue....no hosptial, no doctor, no bandage, prince charming didn't even change her out of her wet clothes!!! He had her on the bed in the same wet clothes whispering sweet nothings while he himself had on an unbuttoned, button up shirt!!! LOL

Alma was reluctant to let Marisa and Loli stay with her, not because of them but because her heart still wants Rebeca in her own room, and she didn't want to give it up. She was convinced to face the facts. I thought at first the man there must be Loli's father, but when Marisa was talking all she mentioned was me and my daughter, so maybe not. Maybe he's just a friend???

When Doris and Refrida were talking about Renato, Refrida mentioned him as a possibility for breaking up JE and Angel since Renato is crazy about Angel. She decided to call Renato and tell him Angel is missing so he would come to search for her, which she did. She told Renato not to tell Elena because of her health. Did you notice how fast Refrida got off the phone when it wasn't about her and Doris tried to complain about Iker??? LOL

Yes, the cop called Angel and told her she needed to come down and identify the tattoo on Santi and say on the record it was the same tattoo, so Refrida wanted Santi gone before Angel could testify. Misael's plan (at least what he told Refrida) was to have Santi escape and to somehow convince JE that Angel was his accomplice in escape so having Angel's testimony against Santi on record would be bad for that plan. Which brings us to the stabbing, which Misael undoubtably ordered - his phone call about finding someone and then the job is done. If his stated plans are to be believed I can only guess the stabbing isn't supposed to be fatal and they are going for the escape from the infirmary/hospital trick. But we'll see.

Brayan and the gang are setting up to rob the restaurant and in his call with Refrida, she let him know that she's out of town with the owners and they won't be back until the day after tomorrow. There's only a new employee watching the place, ie. perfect time for a robbery. When Lucas showed up it was because he wanted to become more involved - to make some $$ since mommy took his brand new console - but he's in over his head now because Brayan wants him inside doing the actual robbery this time, instead of on lookout duty. Brayan's comment about Lupe wasn't a threat so much as a 'the time has come to stop hiding behind your pretty mommy and be a man' type comment. Though he did also remind Lucas in the conversation of what happens if he lets him down.

VIVIR

Darcy, how wonderful of you to give such a thoughtful, well-written, detailed summary not only in answer to my questions but in highlighting what I did not understand.

"It seems clear Renato is very close to the family, Elena called him 'mi vida' the way you would your own child when he left last night". Everything you related makes perfect sense, now I can put the question that had been tantalizing me to rest. :)

Yes, Refrida is utterly selfish and isn't interested in anything that doesn't involve her. Doris' rather slavish devotion to her is puzzling...

Loved your riff on JE who "...had her on the bed in the same wet clothes whispering sweet nothings while he himself had on an unbuttoned, button up shirt!!!" Yes, SO thoughtful. NOT.

"Misael's plan (at least what he told Refrida) was to have Santi escape and to somehow convince JE that Angel was his accomplice in escape so having Angel's testimony against Santi on record would be bad for that plan." Your clarification was superb. Like you, I do think Santiago will live and somehow escape...

My favorite line was "Brayan's comment about Lupe wasn't a threat so much as a 'the time has come to stop hiding behind your pretty mommy and be a man' type comment". I hope Lucas is taking Brayan's threats seriously.

Diana

Vivir

Thanks Diana, great recap. I was surprised JE realized so quickly he couldn’t live without Angel. I feel something is going to happen to once again turn him against Angel. Rebeca is very determined to have him. But she’s being such a pest to him I don’t see how he’ll ever turn to her. But if he does Misael will really go crazy.

I was surprised that Santiago was stabbed. My first thought was that Elena can’t lose another child. Which was the only reason I thought he’d live. But I guess helping him escape from a hospital makes sense. I had thought he might end up in a coma which would prevent him from saying anything. If they catch the other guy with the tattoo Santiago will be off the hook. So all these plans seem like too many. Plus Misael could have gotten off with a accidental death plea, but now he’s got either murder or attempted murder on Santiago.

Jimena showing up at the love nest was great. Doris isn’t going to stick around when Icky is broke.

Liz

VIVIR

Thanks so much Liz.

I also have no doubt JE's (already broken) promise to love Angel forever will not last!

Rebeca has no finesse, she is like a bull in a china shop. She either doesn't realize or doesn't care that JE is not only showing no interest in her, but is completely dismissing her. Yet, she continues to charge ahead.

Misael's plans seem to convoluted to work so it will be interesting to see how everything turns out.

I agree Doris will be gone in a NY minute once Icky loses it all. :)

Diana

Darcy, I was confused about a couple things . Yes, what was Gabriel doing milling around the river during the storm? What really confused me was JE not rushing Angeli to a hospital or at least back to the hacienda but instead building a bonfire ???? Sloppy writing . I hadn't noticed that he never got Angeli out of her soaking wet clothes . I did notice that he had some kind of black thing around her head. #notanEMT

VIVIR

Thank you, Diana! Not just for the wonderful recap but for leading this patio to some very good discussions,

I was really surprised that Angel's head injury didn't result in more dire consequences--they really did emphasize that hit on the rock. But oh well, she recovered quite quickly with Dr. JE's astute expert help (eyeroll).

My favorite scene was Jimena showing up at Icky's lovenest, but I did think she was a bit longwinded when she brought up all her expectations for a perfect marriage. I would have enjoined (at least) a slap...or two.

TU VIDA #43 Part 1/2

Some scenes omitted, others combined.

In which our plot moves forward ……

We open with a continuación from the previous episode’s cliff-hanger. Paula starts to tell Pepe what she has been withholding from him…..and (caray!) is interrupted by Susy and Teo.

THE KIDLETS - Susy and Teo want to confirm that there is nothing going on between Paulepe.
Paula tells them that she and Pepe won’t do anything to hurt them because they love their kids a lot. Paula is using LSM (Mexican Sign Language) while saying all this so that Teo understand. Pepe asks how she knows LSM and Paula says she took an online course. Wow…Paula probably knows more LSM than Malena.

Paula and Pepe take their respective kids their own home to discuss.
TEO doesn’t want Pepe to fall in love with Paula. Being a child, he naturally wants his primary family intact…Pepe back with Mal. Teo asks Pepe to NOT be with Paula. Pepe doesn’t promise that.
Pepe tells Teo that he and Mal are separated and will. not.. be. getting. back. together. ever. again, that Rafa and Mal are now a couple. Pepe recognizes that this is hard for Teo to understand.
Teo asks if he doesn’t love MAL anymore because she is mal (bad, evil)? Pepe says no, don’t think like that.

Then Pepe brings up the bullying. Kids do it because Teo is deaf. They also badmouth Malena, saying she is a “pelota” (which translates to ball and is likely slang for a woman who is passed around from player to player) because everyone wants to play with her. Pepe says leave it with him and he’ll find a solution and promises Teo that he can talk to him about any problem.

SUSY does the same with Paua. Paula tells Susy that she and Rol are very good friends who quieren but not enamorado. Susy comments on how Paula is always happy around Pepe and sad around Rol. Paula promises Susy that she won’t ever lose Rol as her padrino.

ISABELA asks Andrea what she feels for Diego….Is she in love? Andi asks Isa to swear to keep a big secret and tells her they’re fake novios, Diego is Gay, and they’re doing this because of Rolando. Isa approves(while doing a mental sigh of relief) and points out that Andi could help Diego get the courage to tell his mom.

RENATA la Rata visits Mal that demanding that Lucia and Emiliano not see each other will only make them want the relationship more. (I have to admit that Ren is right about that). Ren has a plan…she’ll take Emi out for drinks and once Lucia sees him horribly drunk, she will be disgusted and break up. She tells Mal that Emi could hurt Lucia based on his history. Whatevs.

AT THE RESTAURANT – Isabela hears Lorenzo singing a song that is from their past. We get a nice flashback video sequence which is also a break from the locura of this telenovela. Lorenzo tells Isa that he didn’t fight for her back then, so he lost her, and he is not making that mistake twice. Isa is freaking out, and Lor keeps saying let’s go to nuestro “puente”, using it more than once, and I can’t find a good translation for it. Do any of you know?? Unless he says “fuente” and even the closed captions. IDK ...
wrong? All the teens Lugo y Castillo arrive and interrupt this conversation.

TU VIDA #43 part 2/2

THE BADDIES – Natalia tells Rol he has to stay married; Paula's days are numbered. Rolando wants vengeance against Pepe. Rosa walks up and sees Nat trying to kiss Rolando and interrupts. Rol leaves and Rosa starts questioning her behavior. Natalia makes it unequivocally clear that she is not like Rosa and wants the life SHE deserves. Rosa looks concerned. As do we.

Rolando walks in on Susy telling Paula that Paula is always thinking of Pepe and asks--- Don’t you love Rolando? Susy asks that she not hurt Rol, who heard this exchange. Rol assures Susy they won’t ever separate and are together until the end. He schmoozes with Susy, earning points with her.

ROSA tells Natalia that she doesn’t like lying and half-truths, and wants Nat to tell Los Lugo that she is Nat’s mother. Nat says if she does that, she’ll see it as a betrayal; Rosa has to choose between her and Los Lugo. Nat then asks about Gracia, what she knows, and is going to make sure Gracia keeps her mouth shut.

PAULANDO – Rol tells Paula he will always be at her side. She says he’s the best. We barf. Paula says she needs to sign that revised will before her next radiation treatment.

LATER, Pepe tells Isabela that he’s sure Paula is 100% all in with him but she is holding back "something". He will not become her “amante” while she is married. Isa thinks he has no future with Paula (but can’t tell him it’s because Paula is dying) They talk about Mal & Rafa. They discuss Lor being Rafa’s father. She said that Lorenzo told Rafa that the DNA test was negative. Pepe said it’s better if Rafa learns the truth from her instead of anyone else.

NATALIA visits Gracia at the restaurant, wrinkling her nose at the whole place being beneath her. (ha!)
A verbal catfight ensues. It spill out into the dining area. Gracia says she won’t be threatened and tells Nat she won’t do the same thing she did to Rosa. Gracia announces (loudly) to everyone in the restaurant that her sister is Natalia’s mother and she (herself) is Nat’s aunt).
Gracia delivers the verbal smackdown: If you and your mom don’t want to recognize each other in public, that’s your business, but count me out. Rosa is Gracia’s sister. Caras de impactadas on the Castillo and Lugo teenagers. Emi aks, "Rosa? our ama de casa?"Yep.

They retreat to the kitchen. Natalia says she came to talk to Rosa … alone. Nat delivers her own verbal smackdown: Who do you think you are? talking to me that way? Ever since I was a little girl and my mother was sick, Rosa cried all the time, you stole her savings and abandoned her. And after all that, you dare to give ME a lecture on morals??? Gracia’s face looks stricken.
(Ooooh, we smell a backstory here and now know why Gracia asked forgiveness from Rosa)

ROLANDO visits PEPE and Rol tries to lay down the rules. He says he and Paula won’t separate, Pepe can have his romance, but the only man who will touch Paula is Rafa. Rolando implies that the newlyweds have been intimate because that’s what newlyweds do. Pepe laughs at that and points out that Paula can’t stand to be near Rol, much less touched by him. Rol tries to intimidate, saying Paula wouldn’t have anything to do with a small-town hick like Pepe, and if Pepe lays a finger on Paula, he will tell Rafa about Lorenzo being his father. Pepe doesn’t accept the deal and tells Rol “you listen to me”. He’s not going to be her amante and will hang in there until Paula divorces Rol.

ISA & LORENZO – Isa tells Lor she doesn’t want Pepe to have hopes for being with Paula, who walks in and asks “why? Why aren’t you on board with team Paulepe?” Paula asks why sh8uldn’t Pepe have hopes for Paula. Isa doesn’t answer because she is not supposed not know Paula is dying. BUT…Isabela tells Paula that Rolando threatened Pepe that if he keeps hanging around Paula, Rol will tell Rafa that Lorenzo is Rafa’s dad. Paula is all “Que????”

Vivir #17

Great work, Diana.

Others have beaten me to most of it but it is a huge relief that JE mostly came to his senses this quickly. I wonder whether this is because viewers were complaining about these things taking 15-20 episodes to fix.

This may sound ridiculous but how is it that they fished Angeli out of the river, laid her down on the grass, we heard the storm continuing, and no rain was falling on her and JE? I always wondered whether these scenes were shot on actual rainy days or the rain was created for the shoot and now I know. Just get real about this, por favor.

I agree that Santiago will live but also that he is a waste of space.

VIDA

Great job, Doris! You got the gist of it and then some!

First of all, “puente” is “bridge”. Lor is really starting to get to me. I LOVE Juan Soler, but Lor is getting too pushy. Of course the fact that Isabela gets all jittery at the sight of him, just gives him more ammunition.

Now how many episodes before Pepe hears “I’m dying” from Paula?? I bet it won’t be tonight!

Do 8-10 year olds really know the concept of being “in love”? Odd that Susy asked Paula if she wasn’t in love with Rol.

Loved that Gracia announced that Rosa is Nat’s mother in front of everyone. Calling Nat by her real name would have been the “cherry on top”. :-)

VIVIR

Thank you for your supportive words Rgv Chick...

"I was really surprised that Angel's head injury didn't result in more dire consequences--they really did emphasize that hit on the rock. But oh well, she recovered quite quickly with Dr. JE's astute expert help (eyeroll)" was excellent and had me nodding in vigorous agreement...

I can't help but believe Jimena will soon realize how fortunate she is not to be saddled with Icky. I know I would be :)

Diana

VIVIR

Thanks so much Urban...

"This may sound ridiculous but how is it that they fished Angeli out of the river, laid her down on the grass, we heard the storm continuing, and no rain was falling on her and JE?" Actually, that is a good question; unfortunately I have no answer. Great catch!

I should start calling Santi WOS (waste of space) :) Oh, so true.

Diana

Vivir

Diana, you strike again with a totally entertaining recap. Loved this zinger "Rebeca beats a hasty retreat, ascending the stairs as if she owns the place"

Rebecca hit gold earlier when she implied to JE that Angel and Renato once had a thing (not true). As soon as Angel saw Renato there, he went off on him. But, honestly, this is the first time I agree with baddy Misael, when he told Renato to take off and Cris said he could catch a ride back with Luciano (who knows how not to hover and make oneself a pest).

There's a bad storm, and all those folks who have no emergency/medical skills show up? Ridiculous. The vet's son and Luciano were the only two that were kind of realistic, at least they were wearing pancho rainwear.

I got a kick out of JE telling Rebecca, again and again, to give him and his wife some space.

I fear for Lucas. He's a good kid making mistakes. Whereas Santiago is a selfish big baby who will no doubt survive his wound and garner sympathy and guilt from Angel.

Vida

Thanks Doris, a great recap that filled in so much for me.

I hope Rose doesn’t lose her job over the deceit. But I hope they stop trusting Nat. Although I was happy to have Gracia make her announcement.

These young kids have to much say in their parents’ decisions. I don’t think Paula ever would have gone through with the wedding if not for Suzy. And the little sees she’s happy with Pepe, sad with Rol. If she’s supposed to be 10 she would put 2and 2 together.

Pepe needs to find out from Paula that she’s dying. He’ll lose all trust in her otherwise.

Liz

VIDA

Doris, your recap was marvelous.

Loved the titles, especially "The Kidlets". Very clever. "Pelota" will surely stay with me; thank you for the excellent interpretation.

"Teo asks if he doesn't love MAL anymore because she is mal (bad, evil)?" From the mouths of babes. Finally, a truthful, insightful statement.

I hadn't understood the Teo/Pepe convo about bullying. Pepe is acutely aware of what is going on, acknowledges it, promises to try and find a solution and encourages Teo to come to him any time. He is such a wonderful, caring father.

Could any of Nat’s (shocking) verbal missive be true?? Gracia taking Rosa’s money and abandoning her?? No wonder “Gracia’s face looks stricken”! There must be something more to the story, right?

Rgv Chick, I also loved Gracia announcing the world Rosa is Nat’s mother. “Calling Nat by her real name would have been the “cherry on top”. :-)” is so true!

Lor does make Isa weak in the knees and I think he senses it. In a perfect novela, he would end up with Isa, and Alex with Gracia.

“Rolando implies that the newlyweds have been intimate:” …I was relieved Pepe seemed to understand that this is nothing but a bald faced lie from a consummate liar and conniver. Ack.

Diana

Thanks, Doris.

Just the idea of Renata's plan is disgusting. It proves she has no respect for Emiliano (I refuse to shorten his name to Emi). I'm shocked that there is no classmate of either sex pointing her behaviour out to him. The flashback to the drunken incident was proof of this girl's abject cruelty.

The whole paternity issue about Rafa has a simple solution: a new DNA test. The hair Marcos took from the barber shop had a high percentage that wasn't Rafa's. A new test is likely to come back negative and we can all laugh at Malena's greed.

It's also overdue for Paula and Pepe to stop caving to their youngest children's demands.

VIVIR

Niecie, thank you so very much for you very nice comment.

"This is the first time I agree with baddy Misael, when he told Renato to take off and Cris said he could catch a ride back with Luciano (who knows how not to hover and make oneself a pest)" was fabulous. Not only did I love your comment on Luciano, I hadn't realized Renato was rubbing Misael the wrong way (just as he is with viewerville) 😊

Rebeca is relentless isn't she? I really can't fathom how she is going to weasel her way in to separate JE and Angel. To be fair, JE seems to be doing a good job of it all by himself...

VIVIR #18 Part 1

A tough episode after a very long week. Tonight was overflowing with dialogue. I only wish I had the language skills that would have allowed me to both understand and keep up.

It is evening and JE sips water as he stares at Angel recalling his loathsome treatment and cruel words. Angel sleeps peacefully and it appears she is finally out of her wet clothes. She stirs, JE next to her. He (finally) takes responsibility, knowing she almost died because of him. He asks for her forgiveness and tells her he loves her. More murmurings, promises of eternal love as his beloved wife. Soft kisses and lovemaking ensure.

“Maldita” Rebeca out in the hall yells. She calls Misael imploring him to answer as it rings. It goes to voice mail and she throws the phone across the room in a hissy fit.

Misael doesn’t answer as he is on the phone with Bruno who is at the jail.,,,, Monica wants to know what is going on. Her demands get louder. She gets suspicious but he says he isn’t an assassin. She yells after him.

Brayan and his gang are raiding the restaurant. Lucas, on lookout, sounds the alarm and they run out.

Elena frets about her children. Gi calls Renato and he tells her about Angel’s accident but reassures her she is fine. Elena doesn’t seem to be able to take his word for it, and then starts worrying about Santiago (as well she should). Then, she gets the call about the restaurant being broken into. Things always come in threes, don’t they?

During his not-so-great escape, Lucas falls and gets hurt. Ramiro helps him as Brayan and the rest of his thugs watch from on high. Lucas is in terrible pain. He and Ramiro are the only two caught and are promptly arrested.

Santiago is on a gurney being wheeled out. He is struggling to breathe as he talks with Agent Corral. There is a prisoner who looks at Santiago and nods knowingly.

Angel is dressed (bare midriff) and seems fine. She hangs up with her mother.

Sandra enters with fresh juice for Angel and HER HUSBAND but Rebeca nastily dismisses her and takes the tray. Excuse me she tells Angel and JE as she stands in their doorway with the tray. Angel is nicer than Rebeca deserves, being gracious as always. JE takes the tray and Angel gives Rebeca a hug and follows JE out.

Lucas and Ramiro are behind bars, Lucas’ ankle looks bad.

Jimena and Renato join Gi and Elena in viewing the restaurant carnage. Renato tries to cheer Jimena up a bit.

Misael is on the phone with Rebeca when Monica comes in and questions him about Rebeca and then Angel. He doesn’t have time and stalks out.

JE, Angel, Luciano, and Fatima stroll the grounds. JE tells him how happy he is. Luciano tells JE he loves Fatima. JE stares likely because Luciano is MARRIED. Fatima waxes poetic about Luciano. I believe she also tells Angel she is sure Santiago is innocent.

Misael and his parents are with Agent Corral. I cannot add as to what transpired in their discussions.

VIVIR #18 Part 2 of 2

Santiago is in the hospital. He is chained to the bed and is under police guard. He panics and begs the doctor to help him. Agent Corral gets a call and tells Misael and his parents Santiago is going to make it.

The Fab Four continue to stroll the hacienda grounds. Domingo delivers seemingly grim news. I don’t know if it is directly related to the fabrica or not but they go to a group of workers and comfort them.

Mati is practicing hoops when Gabriel rides up. Javier comes up with a game and Mati blows him off. Gabriel helps Mati up on the horse and gets behind her as Javier glares.

Misael on the phone lambasting “maldito” Santiago. He goes into the safe and pulls out papers.

Uh ho…A masked doctor arrives and injects Santiago’s guard in the neck with a needle. He goes over and starts to unlock Santiago’s cuffs and the fool starts yelling for help.

Lupe and Luis arrive at the hospital, Lupe angrily berating Lucas. It was an accident he cries. (the recurring theme throughout this, isn’t it?). Later, Lupe is at work as Angel arrives along with some men citing charges I didn’t understand regarding the fabrica.

Santiago is brought out in a wheelchair and put in a car. Bruno is the driver. I’m sure Santiago is thinking he was better off chained to the bed.

Alma and Antonio are watching Loli giving dance lessons to a group of kids. She hugs them.

At the family board meeting, it appears dueling petitions were filed? One seems to invalidate Don Emilio’s decision for the presidency; the other (submitted by JE) seems to verify the document is genuine.

Outside the factory, Armando’s car is surrounded by an angry mob pelting his car with fresh fruit. Angel and Lupe are front and center.

Gabriel and Mati are enjoying a scenic horse ride and return home. She thanks him and he tells her she is lovely. Lucas calls and she answers by calling him guapo. She tells him she just returned for a ride with Gabriel. He makes fun of as Gabriel silently strolls off into the sunset.

Alma and Antonio are baking a chocolate confection when Rebeca storms in, her bad mood palpable. Her anger is exacerbated when she sees Loli in her room. She screams at her to get out and mocks her. Then she turns her vitriol to her non-adoptive parents screaming that they got a new child. “Mi nina” Alma tries to explain but Rebeca is incensed. Rebeca hurls hurt and insults on them, screams they are not her family and accuses them of trafficking minors! Antonio starts having chest pains and collapses on the bed as Alma screams at her to call an ambulance. Rebeca does no such thing; she merely stares, expressionless.

Fatima, JE, and Cris strategize.

Agent Corral comes into Elenas office who is meeting with Gi. I believe she tells her Santiago was stabbed and is now MIA.

JE and Cris talk as Don Emilio comes up. I think it was something to the effect that Misael took papers proving he stole from him. Kindly clarify…

VIDA Ep. 44 Part 1 (several scenes combined; 'scuse the typos)

We start where we left off yesterday—After Isabela tells Paula that Rol is threatening to reveal that Rafa is Lor’s son if Pepe doesn’t stay away from Paula, Paula assures that this will not stay as is, Isabela explains that even if Rol hadn’t threatened Pepe, what’s the using of raising Pepe’s hopes. Is it fair to make plans or for her son to look forward to a life with Paula when they may not be able to be together? Paula looks at Lor who confesses that he told Isa about her brain tumor.

Meanwhile, the antler bashing continues. Pepe points out that he is the man Paula wants to be with and he will defend their love—he will fight to be with the woman he loves. Rol scoffs that Pepe always maintained that he (Pepe) didn’t want to destroy his marriage. Pepe smirks as he tells Rol that what Rol and Paula have is anything but a marriage! Paula regrets having married him! Rol then tells Pepe that he may have won this battle but Rol will win the war!

Over at the restaurant, the verbal cat fight also continues with Nat’s claws ravaging Gracia as she tells Gracia that no person would steal all of her sister’s savings and then abandon her for years. Nat continues that her mother mopped many floors and did everything to get them ahead. Gracia tries to put in a word about how Nat is denying her mother, but Nat won’t allow it and tells Gracia that she is NOT part of her family! As Nat leaves, the young folks approach led by Diego who asks why she hadn’t told them that Rosa is her mother. When Nat tries to brush him off, Diego suggests that they go home and tell his mother everything. Nat tells Emi to control his brother…and adds that she will tell Paula about Rosa in time. She then looks at Emi and threatens to tell Paula about a call she received late at night three years ago. Diego wonders what she is talking about, but Emi won’t elaborate.

Lor apologizes to Paula for having told Isa…he had to talk to someone about everything. Isa assures that she will keep the secret, but she worries since her sons have already suffered enough. After Lor interjects that is why they should tell Rafa the truth, Paula agrees. When Isa suggests that if things were different..., Paula quickly tells her not to treat her as if she is already dead…she is just as alive as they are and she is very in love with Isa’s son!

After Isa leaves, Paula upbraids Lor for having told Rosa then Isa. Lor apologizes profusely…he is in love with Isa and just needed someone to talk to. Lor them pleads that Paula focus on her treatment…it’s just two more weeks.

Pepe and Rafa have a bro talk. Rafa encourages Pepe to fight for his love; and Pepe tells Rafa to continue on with his plans to marry MAL and form a family. As Pepe mentions “tu hijo” Teo walks in and Pepe takes him home.

Back at the restaurant Lucia and Andrea question Gracia about having a sister and give her some comforting hugs. They assure Gracia that the family will welcome her sister with open arms.

Diego keeps questioning Emi, but Emi deflects and only says that Nat was cool with him. Emi tells Diego that Nat and Rosa should be the ones to talk to their mother. Diego argues that their mother trusts Nat but Nat is lying to their mother…and not just about Rosa. Diego then asks why Emi is so scared of Nat. As they continue, MAL (who is following Reni’s suggestion to get Emi to drink) walks in with a bottle and wants to get to know Emi better. After Emi has a quick flashback to a time when he was in jail and Nat helped him get out and get the arrest off his record, he turns down the drink. MAL insists, just one, or does he have a problem with alcohol?

VIDA Ep. 44 Part 2

Marcos approaches and Gracia falls into his arms as she sobs. He pleads with her to confide in him. Apparently, Gracia has told Marcos about stealing money from her sister. He then noticed that Gracia’s locket is open and asks who the baby is. Gracia admits that the baby is her daughter. She explains that when she was younger, she led a bad life...she didn't care about anything. She got pregnant; and when she told the sperm donor, he flew the coop. She decided to have the baby, but had no means to take care of it so she stole the money from her sister. BUT someone snatched her purse and stole the money. She couldn’t tell the cops that someone had stolen the money that she herself had stolen. When Marcos asks what happened to the baby, Gracia cries that she gave the baby up for adoption (and the plot thickens!)

MAL continues to insist that Emi have a drink with her. When Diego tries to defend Emi, Emi asks him to leave him alone with MAL. Before leaving, Diego warns MAL that if Reni told her something, it was just to get her riled up. Once alone, MAL mocks Emi about being an alcoholic. Emi explains how he lost control after his father died, but that’s in the past…and he doesn’t drink like he used to. MAL assumes that Lucia doesn’t know…yet.

Pepe is now at home talking to Teo who tells Pepe that he read his lips when he was talking to Rafa (which I think is impossible because Pepe had already mentioned the baby as Teo walked in!). Teo asks if the baby his mother is expecting belongs to Rafa. Pepe promises never to lie to Teo…and admits that yes, the baby is Rafa’s.

Rol enters the Lugo home to find Paula waiting for him. She point blank asks when he intended to tell her that he knows that Rafa is her half brother and why is he blackmailing Pepe with that. Paula explains that Isa was there and told her and her father. Rol admits telling Pepe that and starts crying that he didn’t mean it. He grovels that he was desperate and dying of jealousy. They continue back and forth until Paula tells hI’m that if she had known he was capable of this, she would have never married him!!

Emi tells MAL that he will tell Lucia; he just needs some time. MAL insists that they (she) will tell Lucia right now! MAL storms in telling Lucia that she (Lu) needs to know who her novio really is. When MAL accuses Emi of being an alcoholic, Emi denies it and explains that there was a time when he drank and partied a lot…until he hit rock bottom… but that is in the past.

Pepe explains to Teo that MAL and Rafa fell in love and they will soon marry. Teo thought his mother was good. Pepe assures that MAL loves him (NOT!) and Rafa loves him too. They need to accept things that cannot be changed…but they should be there for each other always.

Groveling Rol continues the pleasing (I was waiting to see him on his knees). Paula points out that this could affect her children…She ultimately tells him to LEAVE. HER. HOUSE!! And we see Rosa at a distance…

Rosa quickly calls Nat and tells her that Paula and Rol are arguing. She wonders if Paula found out about Rol and Nat, but Nat assures that “no, that’s not it” and tells Rosa to go back and eavesdrop some more. Rosa, however, refuses because she feels bad about lying to the family and Paula does not deserve this.

VIDA Ep. 44 Part 3

More pathetic groveling from Rol, but Paula points out Rol’s other mess ups. She again tells him it is best that he leave the house. Rol suggests that they continue talking tomorrow, but Paula says “No! I want you to leave my house!” When Rol asks why the hurry and if she is going to see Pepe that night, Paula replies that yes she is…and she is going to tell Pepe that she is ill but despite that, she wants them to have an opportunity. Rol is desperate and can’t take this anymore; he gets a shot glass because he needs a drink. When Paula tries to physically stop him and tells him to leave, Rol furiously reproaches that she is kicking him around…and crushes the glass in his hand (and we see blood instead of hogwash).

Pepe goes to talk to Rafa and tells him that Teo already knows everything…Rafa can now marry MAL and they can do whatever the heck they want. Pepe will take care of his kids and make sure they don’t suffer too much because of this.

MAL’s little tirade was futile. Lucia is not going to stop seeing Emi. HA! HA!

Isa is remembering old times with Lor when Lor arrives at their special bridge and comments that it’s not a coincidence that they both came to the same place where they kissed for the first time.

Paula wants to help Rol tend to his hand but Rol's groveling, ugly crying continues. He spews that the injury doesn’t hurt him as much as Paula did…because he is all torn up inside (hay, pobrecito!) He has put up with a lot! She has humiliated him! And he is still there as she steps all over him! What does she think he is made of?! (I would say cr4p!) he is doing everything for her…allowing his wife to go out with another man. He can’t even touch her…he isn’t even worthy of a caressing touch! When Rol raises his hand and lunges at Paula, she pushes him away and tells him (once again) to LEAVE. HER. HOUSE!!!

And the we END..hasta el lunes!

VIDA

Rgv Chick, you skillfully navigated tonight’s turbulence, where evil and MALevolence were all too prevalent. Your powers of observation and sharp, discerning eye missed nothing. An intriguing, amazing read.

Even though Malena has been cruel and heartless to her own children, especially Teo, her taunting and baiting of Emiliano was sickening. Trying to get him to drink, to humiliate and weaken him made her monstrous. Unlike her mother, Lucia does have a heart and there was no hesitation in her decision to stay with Emiliano. No surprise from this sweet, gentle, lovely young woman.

Nat injected venom toward Emilio as well; it was a hard night for this young man.

“Rol's groveling, ugly crying” continued ad nauseum. His pleas were just pathetic and rather than garnering sympathy, he elicited only contempt (well, at least from me). And when he “crushes the glass in his hand (and we see blood instead of hogwash)” – perfect!

And then we have “…the verbal cat fight also continues with Nat’s claws ravaging Gracia as she tells Gracia that no person would steal all of her sister’s savings and then abandon her for years”. I am still trying to understand this indigestible scenario. I cannot envision Gracia being the kind of person she described to Marcos. And who is her daughter???

I am fervently hoping Paula’s righteous anger continues and that she forces Rol to leave. Permanently.

I am hoping Paula tells Pepe about her health crisis. Now. If the queen of darkness happens to overhear something about Paula’s illness, she would be salivating to be the one to tell Pepe. That would be devastating.

Pepe and Teo were once again the sweetest (and only) happy scene.

TU VIDA

Thank you, everyone, for your comments on Thursday night's capítulo.

RgvChick - I agree, Gracia calling Nat by her given name would have added to the entertainment value of the restaurant's patrons, not to mention the teens'.

I am looking forward to watching Friday night's episode after reading RgvChick's recap.

Vivir

Thanks Diana, I enjoyed reading the events of Friday night. Watching 3 telenovelas is a first for me and they all merge into one long drama!

I don’t know if Santiago is safe or not. I guess the the that stabbed him was a professional as he missed any vital organs. But I don’t trust Bruno, he might be the brains behind Misael. He would definitely be the one most likely to do away with someone.

Don Emilio remembered that he had put the papers that he found in the safe. It was where Misael had forged his signature. He locked them up and then was yelling at Misael when he had his heart attack.

How convenient that the guy with the tattoo is the one caught. He stopped to help Lucas. He was telling Lucas he was going to get out of the gang as he wanted a good life. So now we feel bad because this kid isn’t all bad but has that tattoo that will put him in jail for a long time.

I can’t believe how cold Rebeca is. She stood their and just watched, with no emotion, as her dad was having a heart attack or something. I can’t imagine JE ever being attracted to her after loving Angel, but she sure is trying hard to be noticed by him.

Liz

VIVIR

Thanks so much Liz.

Like you, I am watching (the same) three novelas and it is A LOT to absorb...

I did realize but didn't note in the recap that Ramiro took the fall for Lucas. Thank you for adding that Ramiro was yearning for a life outside of the gang; perhaps there will be hope for him yet. But then there IS that pesky tattoo. A perfect fall guy.

"I can't imagine JE ever being attracted to her after loving Angel, but she sure is trying hard to be noticed by him" is exactly right!! I am really curious as to how that magic trick is going to pan out. :)

Diana

Vida

Thanks Rgv Chick. I enjoyed your retell, probably more than the actual show as the bad guys were very prominent, as in “in your face” last night.

Didn’t Paula throw Roll out once before. Not sure why he came back. And MAL was awful to Emi, I was actually sure he would take a drink. Both Rol and MAL were hard to watch, and Nat too.
Nat and MAL hit a new low, going after Emi.

Usually if a new person is implied, Gracia’s baby, there’s someone you can suspect, as they’re usually already on screen. But a can’t think of anyone except Reni, which seems unlikely. Maybe because I don’t like her. Gracia should have a nice daughter, and she’d be younger than Nat. More mysteries.

Liz

Vivir

Diana, thank you for another excellent report on all the comings and goings.

Luciano is more of the galan for me than fickle, petulant I'll -love-forever-until-i -don't JE.

I think lovesick Renato will end up with Jimena because they were talking and when she walked away , he looked after her and sighed. Big sigh. We know that JE ( he of little faith) will get a HEA with angelic Angeli.

Gabriel is a cutie and a good rider. The horse ride through the countryside was nice . What were those workers doing ? It looked like they were working in water.

vida
Thanks, rgv chick.
Malena really hates Emiliano, but she must hate Lucia as well because she seems to enjoy her suffering too. There's no way she simply 'doesn't care' about her kids. But she apparently can't admit that.
How longwill it be before Rolando decides to kill both Paula and Pepe? How did he become so obsessed with Paula?
Poor Gracia. The guy just left and she has lived with all this guilt. Rosa seems to be forgiving. Not many would be as forgiving as she is I imagine, given that she fell ill. I found it interesting that at some point she said she thinks she survived so she could fix her relationship with her sister.
Renata has lost all her chances if Emiliano has any sense. It's interesting she immediately assumed Lucia would abandon him. Normally I'd say she is projecting, but as she stayed with him during a difficult time, it must be something else. She wouldn't be wrong if it were any other person.

Vivir

Thanks Diana, for another fantastic recap! You capture the heart and feel of the drama every time!

One thing I disagree with, I don't think Santiago was a fool for yelling for help. He was stabbed in jail and now 'attacked' in the hospital, if he protests, he looks innocence and like he's being forced/kidnapped to escape. If he doesn't protest, he looks complicit in the escape and even if they believe the fake tattoo and blame Ramiro, Santi looks guilty of something for escaping. There might be a misunderstanding though, Santi didn't know how Misael was getting him out of jail, just that he had a plan, so he isn't panicking he's just reacting to someone stabbing him and then breaking into his hospital room.

Santi also told the cop that Misael did this to him, which will work in his favor as far as his participation in the escape, because he didn't think Misael was trying to break him out, he thought Misael was trying to kill him, so he told the cop the truth!

Thus, when Agent Corral went to speak to Misael and his parents, it was to tell them about Santi's attack and that he said Misael did it, but both Monica and Aldolfo said Misael was home all night and that he never left. Misael claimed Santi probably thought it was him because when he found out that Santi killed Dulce he threatened to kill him!!! Agent Corral isn't slow though, and she didn't buy any of this. She said it was obvious someone ordered Santi to be silenced - which is true in spirit but the only part she's missing is Misael doesn't want him dead, he wants him gone so he can't talk!

I don't think the workers were directly involved with the factory. They were local, poorer farmers who lost everything in the storm and wouldn't easily be able to recover or feed themselves while they were trying to recover, the fab 4 went to offer support and ideas to help. I didn't catch it all, but Luciano said something about setting them up with the technology for something.

I guess since Ramiro took the blame for the restaurant, Lucas's story is something like he was just walking outside the restaurant and had an accident (his ankle) and Ramiro was helping him... his parents didn't buy the lie even if the police did (which I'm guessing since they released him)

I can't tell you much about the fabrica except they were there to take the furniture. 'Furniture' might mean more than just couches and chairs, like machines? I am not sure. I don't understand financial stuff in Spanish all the much, but I think a bill is unpaid or a permit unfiled. I don't know, sorry we need another member of the patio to help us with this.

Refrida is heartless, I was thinking more so for yelling at and mocking that little girl! Sorry, I still don't have much sympathy for the child kidnappers. Which is actually what she was saying before the heart attack, that she was going to report them both for kidnapping her, Antonio tried to say it was all his idea and his fault, but Refrida said she knows it was Alma. She definitely should have called 911 for the heart attack, that is cold, but I wouldn't be mad at her if she reported them for kidnapping, they kidnapped her! It sounds harsh, but it is harsh, and they are guilty.

The board meeting had dueling positions as you thought, so they are now getting a third anonymous handwriting analyst to make a decision and break the tie. It's the board member or whoever the non-family guy in the meeting was, who will get the analysis.

DE remembered the contents of the papers!!! You are right about what he was saying but he was referring to the contents of the missing documents when he said Misael stole. He doesn't necessarily know Misael stole them the night of Dulce's murder, though you could make that logical leap, but he was telling Cris and JE that the papers need to be found because they prove Misael transferred millions of dollars into an account that doesn't exist, ie. stole the money from him!

Vivir

One thing I forgot: It was interesting seeing Lucas and Ramiro get into the police car, Lucas being the scared kid to mad at himself for being stupid to stay silent and Ramiro trying to be the hardened gangster and tell him to shut up, but you could tell Ramiro was more affected by Lucas than the other way around. Also, I could be wrong, but I don't think it was Lucas outside the restaurant on lookout, that was the other young kid in the gang. So if the restaurant has cameras, Lucas and Ramiro's story gets challenged. Their faces were covered but you could see a covered faced kid in Lucas's same clothes....

Doesn't the restaurant have insurance?

I agree Susan, definite interest on Renato's face when he turned to look after Jimena!

Vivir

Super recap, Diana. Always a treat.

When the guards find Santiago stabbed in his cell, he croaks "Misael Pastrana" (first time I noticed the last name) did this to him. I was proud of the little dummy for finally doing the right thing. No doubt he feared he was dying then. The new guy who overheard this is a frequent TN actor so I'm sure he'll turn up again.

Misael claimed to his mom that he has no plan to kill Santiago, but I'm not so sure about him or Bruno. Run Santiago run.

The police question Misael, at home with his parents present, and all claim he was there at the time of the stabbing. The police detective wisely points out that Santiago could've meant that Misael ordered the stabbing.

I was surprised the gang was stealing teapots and silverware in addition to cash. Just crazy. Poor Elena.

Yay! Don Emilio remembered.

TU VIDA

Thank you, RgvChick, for your recap. And the snark! You got a doozy of an episode with this one. Caray!

We finally find out the real purpose of Marcos in this telenovela, in that he hears Gracia's confession. He didn't appear to be judgemental about it, either.

My Crockpot Theory© is that Natalia is the child that Gracia gave up. (I have suspected this for a while) Unless Gracia said she stole from Rosa *and* her child, this has to be it, and it goes along with Liz's theory that the implied character is already known to us. Rosa forgave Gracia for the theft, likely because Rosa had the opportunity to take in her daughter, unbeknownst to Gracia, and poor Rosa is just now finding out how treacherous Natalia has turned out.

Emiliano might not necessarily be alcoholic. He had a drinking problem that brought about a very bad consequence. My theory is he saw his future if he didn't stop drinking and won't touch the stuff now, to avoid further catastrophes. True alcoholics usually continue to suffer negative consequences for a long time before (and if) they ever become honest with themselves that they have a problem.

MALena is vile and evil. I hate her more with every episode and anticipate with much interest her anvil.

Whenever Rolando opens his mouth to speak, I expect to see a forked tongue coming from this snake's mouth. He killed Germán and is capable of killing again; it's the "who" that has me concerned.
(If I ever see this actor in real life, I'd probably want to kneecap him with a bat.)

VIVIR

Susan, thank you so much...

"We know that JE ( he of little faith) will get a HEA with angelic Angeli" will undoubtedly be the case. I have a horrible feeling his promise to love Angel forever is going to be very short lived.

I have to be honest. Although I don't know how old the actress playing Jimena is in real life, I don't mean to be unkind but she does not have a youthful appearance. She looks old enough to be either Angel or Renato's mother, so her pairing with Renato would just seem "off" to me. I guess I better get "over it"! :)

"Luciano is more of the galan for me than fickle, petulant I'll -love-forever-until-i -don't JE" made me smile and is exactly righ.

Diana

VIVIR

Darcy, thank you for your always insightful and oh so helpful comments! How kind you are to provide all of your wonderful observations.

"Santi also told the cop that Misael did this to him...because he didn't think Misael was trying to break him out, he thought Misael was trying to kill him, so he told the cop the truth!" This was crucial to the storyline and thank you for clarifying everything from Santiago's viewpoint.

I hadn't understood Agent Corral told Monica and Adolfo (with Misael present) that Santiago accused Misael. "She said it was obvious someone ordered Santi to be silenced - which is true in spirit but the only part she's missing is Misael doesn't want him dead, he wants him gone so he can't talk!" was another important point.

This TN does have a penchant for random scenes, the one with the farmers being one of them. It's so difficult when they switch to something way out of the "margins" with little to go on. Thank you for explaining they were affected by the storm; I am happy Luciano is going to do something to help them.

It was definitely noted somewhere that Lucas was going to participate in the robbery so I was surprised to see what I thought was him being the lookout.

Again, thank you so much Darcy!

Diana

VIVIR

Niecie, thank you so much...

"When the guards find Santiago stabbed in his cell, he croaks "Misael Pastrana" (first time I noticed the last name) did this to him" was so important Niecie; I thank you for noting it here. I failed to hear any of Santiago's utterances of Misael's name as being responsible for his attack. Thank heavens for all of our alert patio!!

"I was proud of the little dummy for finally doing the right thing. No doubt he feared he was dying then" was perfect and said it all...

MUJER

What have they done to our amazing telenovela? Did they fire the writers? The director? This unique show has been turned into a standard trope-filled melodrama (why??) and my heart is broken. In seasons 1 & 2 I loved how they developed very complex and believable characters, slowly, layer by layer, and fed a trail of plot and backstory crumbs to us bit by tantalizing bit. While I think the standard telenovelas are campy fun, and besides, I’m learning Spanish, I’m often dinking on my cellphone while watching them. But not while watching Mujer! I was always at the edge of my seat.

The big question building up was whether Bahar would pick Sarp or Arif. I was dying to see how that worked out in the end. But right away at the beginning of season 3 they answered that. Sarp, who had been acting like a jerk was suddenly a saint. Bahar had been a wonderfully- created protagonista. Unlike others, she wasn’t perky and feisty. She was powerful, stern, stubborn. Now she was smiley and prone to trite sentimental observations. I could almost see tiny cartoon birdies and unicorns swirling around her. She frolicked with her kids.

Sirin was the best antagonista I’ve ever seen because instead of being the standard mustache-twirling baddie, she was believable, a straight-up sociopath. She had no sense of shame, and no empathy for others’ feelings due to what she did. She mostly acted to her own benefit, but otherwise just casually toyed with others to amuse herself. Suddenly in season 3 she’s a murderer! Completely out of character.

When the cranky fellow in the wheelchair appeared on screen I was crushed that they’d pulled a stock telenovela character off the shelf. I knew how it would come out – Ceyda wouldn’t take his nonsense, he’d see the light and change and then fall in love with her and they’d get married, which means she’d have enough money to live for a change. That’s not a spoiler – I don’t know how it will actually evolve, but I’ll be surprised if I’m wrong.

They also decided that what this quiet show needed was to have the entire string section gush at us, so we could feel Emotions. My emotion was to turn the sound off and just go with the captions.

Due to the changes in the characters and also the ridiculous plot devices I realized there was no point in watching further. Yes, the brilliant cast is there, but the characters are gone. I bailed.

I read that they shortened the final season because the Bahar actress had to get on to other commitments. I bet she just wanted to get out as fast as she could. I feel so sorry for the whole cast who must have been deservedly proud of their brilliant work in the first two seasons and then had to act out this schlock.

Mujer

Maggie, I was wondering if anybody here at Caray was still watching Mujer. I am still watching ,but I have to go by the visusal because I usually have no idea what they are, saying.

I can barely stand looking at BSC Sirin and her crazy eyes and devilish smirks.

It seems that the writers decided that they needed to throw something new and awful into every episode .

What is up with the guy who was supposed to be Arda's dad. He seems to think now that he isn't the father . Why? Bahar just had a new test done, and I guess we will get the result on Monday. Also , he is nowdating Kismet???

Arif is now the owner of the cafe . Ha, ha Sirin . You have a new boss

Sirin told the kids that Arif killed their abuela and dad,and Nissan closed the door in his face . Really ??? After all the Unfailing love and care he has given them ?

Poor, dear Enver was seeing Hadece everywhere , and now he has lost everything in the fire . It was pathetic seeing him in the blouse and sheet? It was upsetting when he and BSC went into Sarp's apartment followed by Doruk. Awful Sirin puts on Sarp's shirt . What was up with the pink bra she found ?

What was Arif's father up to that made Bahar so angry with him ?

I agree that feisty Ceyda Will end up with the guy in the wheelchair. Why does he want to see everyone's hands ? Does he not like nail polish? His mother hasn't been nice to her , but she seems to love Bahar.

I am ready for this show to end .

Susan

Vida

Doris, thank you for bringing us every moment .

Rol has gone off the deep end . Can you imagine dealing with someone that toxic and unhinged while also dealing with cancer ?

I have to laugh every time I see MAL wearing the sports bra and the jacket with the fur lined hood open and half off her shoulders like a college kid late for class. The writers keep showing us how petty, mean ,and vicious this woman is . It was hard to watch her taunting and baiting teen Emi. I hope Rata manages to miss that bullet .

Another fashion Don't for me is Isabel with her leather vest over those Little House on the Prairie dresses . QTH?

I still think Gracia is Nat's mother. Nat gets nastier as her plans unravel.

The best scenes are Pepe signing to Teo . Those scenes feel so sincere . I am still not a fan of the manbun, but Pepe is completely believable as a devoted, protective, and loving father in sharp contrast with MAL.

Does Rafa ever work ?

Vivir de amor

Diana, thank you for another of your brilliant recaps. I had a busy night last night and later zipped through much of this episode. Not much of it would have made much sense without your recap and also the interesting comments of others.

Now that I have a good idea of what happened last night -- and I didn't until I read your recap -- I am going to take another look at the episode.

One or two quick things... I have had a tough time with Renato, at first I didn't even know who he was. I didn't know he was interested in Angel. I didn't know if he was a good guy or bad. I'm finally getting a handle on him and he seems OK, but a bit unlucky in love.

Maybe he and Jimena will finally find good matches in each other. I think you're right, that Jimena does not have an especially youthful appearance, but there doesn't seem that much of an age difference, and the right person is the right person, no sense quibbling over a few years. And I don't think we want to be ageist about this :-)

I am confused about who was the lookout during the break-in. To me it looked like Lucas, but I think Brayan had earlier said that he wanted Lucas inside "working" with the rest of them, not just outside as a lookout. Ramiro turns out to be a decent guy. Too bad he has that tattoo.

Of course, I'm confused about a lot of things, and annoyed a bit with this novela. Too many killings, stabbings, kidnappings, betrayals, etc. And a long way to go until the HEAs, and the big one, I suppose, should be JE and Angel. I find I don't care that much about them, I'm more interested in some of the secondary characters.

Oh, well. Grin and bear it, I suppose :-)

Renato seems to be looking for love but must have realized in that early episode on his date with Refrida that there wasnt much love to be had in her . He did sigh and look wistful as Jimena drifted away . She needs a reward for that bad hubby , so these two might be a good match . How old do we guess these two are ? Maybe its not quite May December but more like July October or August November . I am never good at guessing people's ages .My mother in law's hair was completely white when she was 40. My dad still had dark hair at 80 . I wonder how old Jimena's son is supposed to be. It does seem that Jimena is closer to the age of Elena and Gi than Angeli and Refrida . Maybe Renato is somewhere between these two groups .

Susan

Vivir

I am guessing Jimena is closer to Angel’s age than Elena’s. I am not good at guessing how old anyone looks either, but everytime Jimena has been upset with Íker, it was Angel she called and not Elena, which makes me think they are peers. Plus Íker looks to be 30s and they have a younger child I think she is probably younger than we think she looks.

Gracias, RGV Chick. What a mess in this tale.

Malena was not only vicious to Emiliano, but irresponsible in drinking that tequila while pregnant. I am surprised none of the teens thought to hold that one over her head.

Rolando made a prize fool of himself in this episode and Nat showed her true colours. She may get to learn that Orange is the New Black.

Urban, good point. I hadn't even thought about MAL drinking while pregnant . I was just focused on how awful it was that she was tempting Emi with alcohol . I was surprised Diego left him alone with her. I suppose he thought she would reveal his secret to Emi.

You can’t tell by the actors ages of course because Uni casts people to play characters much younger or older than themselves all the time, however, Kimberley dos Ramos who plays Angel is 31 and Malillany Marín who plays Jimena is 43. Amairani Who plays Elena is 53. So IRL the actress is exactly in the middle of the ages of Angel and Elena.

VIVIR

Andy, thank you for your very nice, supportive words. I so wish I understood more but you always make me feel as though what I do write is of some help which I so appreciate. Everyone who has commented has been so kind.

"...the right person is the right person, no sense quibbling over a few years. And I don't think we want to be ageist about this :-)" had me smiling away as of course you are absolutely right. I've not been accused of being "ageist" and I certainy don't want to start now...😊

I also think Brayan told Lucas he was going to be on the inside for the robbery. It was a quick shot but I did think Lucas was the lookout but I probably got that wrong.

We really still at the beginning of this story which certainly hasn't suffered from lack of action. Or heartbreak.

It would be lovely if there was a bit of a break from the angst and agony, wouldn't it?? I'm not holding my breath.

Diana

VIVIR

Darcy, thank you for the information!

You are exactly right in that "...Uni casts people to play characters much younger or older than themselves all the time." I will never forget Corazon Salvaje ('09) where Laura Flores played Eduardo Yanez' mother and in RL, she is ten years younger than he!

I like Jimena and am happy she and Angel have each other. Things are going rapidly downhill for both of them and they are going to need each other's shoulders to cry on. Hopefully, their friendship will empower them to stand up and fight for themselves against their selfish spouses!!

Diana, I agree with Darcy, "you capture the heart and feel of the drama every time!" ...and you do it with your unique eloquence and sensitivity. I always look forward to reading your recaps!

Just a few comments/observations since everyone else has already pointed most of what I had to say (write).

I loved Sandra's reaction to Rebeca demanding that Sandra go prepare her breakfast. She said, "Y esta? Quien cree que es?" Which is "And this one? Who does she think she is?" High 5 to Sandra!

When Angeli and Rebeca were standing outside the house, Rebeca looked giantesque in comparison to Angeli! I'm going to have to look up their heights!

Those farmers Angeli and company went to show support for supposedly lost all of their crops due to the storm. What was odd was that ALL the farmers had lost their crops, yet when Gabriel took Mati and showed her around, those crops looked just fine to me! And I don't think those crops belonged to JE because his crops are in a controlled environment and that is why his crops were the only ones that (supposedly) didn't perish.

That prisoner who was being taken in when Santiago named Misael was none other than "Mauricio!" Mauricio is Cris's ex!

Those men at the factory were indeed there to take the furniture and carpet. If I understood correctly, it was Armando who had sent them because he was trying to explain to the ladies that he had just come for some of his personal things. Yeah right!

VIVIR

Thanks so much for your lovely words Rgv Chick.

You added so many interesting observations!

Ahh, so Beca was demanding breakfast? Good for Sandra for putting her in her place!

I'm so glad you brought up the shot that had Rebeca towering over Angel. "Giantesque" was perfect...

So the prisoner is Cris' ex! You don't miss a thing. I don't know how on earth you knew that but thank you for the heads up...

So far, almost all of the scenes at the factory seem to be outside. Are they ever going to get to go inside? :)

Susan and Maggie, I agree with your comments. I have tried to stay with this tale, having come in quite late. But, I keep skipping episodes, so I will probably not finish it. I will miss having a Turkish one, but for now, I’ll stick with Vida and Receta.

Mujer

Maggie, Susan, and Babachita, I found your comments quite interesting. I just started Mujer with season 3 and I think it is great! Far superior to other current Uni offerings.
Susan, Arif’s father was renting Sarp’s place by the hour. That’s why the hot pink bra and why Bahar blew up at him for using it as a “brothel”.
Clara

Mujer
Clara, thank you so much for clearing that up for me !!!!

Arif's father is the ultimate opportunist , so it is amazing that Arif is such a hero. This show was a sea of tears and angst since the start , but the acting was superb , and I enjoyed the peek inside Turkish culture. What kept me watching was the unwavering love between Bahr and her sweet , loving children. Their goodness and innocence was inspiring. Also inspiring were the people who eventually stepped up to help Bahar ...Enver, Arif, Ceyda. This last season seems to be unraveling which is too bad. I will see it through to the end . Susan

Mujer

Susan, since I just started maybe you could clear up a couple things?
I get Bahar and Sirin are half sisters, but is Ceyda related to them? Ceyda calls Enver “papa,” but maybe term used for family friend?
Hatice, why does everyone think she’s so wonderful when didn’t she abandon Bahar as a child?
As you said, I like how characters relate to each other and the depiction of social classes, the interiors and customs. The excellent acting, riveting.
Clara

Mujer
Clara, I don't know what the characters are saying and Wikipedia in English is vague , but I think I figured out some of the storylines . I think Bahar's mother abandoned her when she was 8 (i dont know who her dad was or why her mother abandoned her). Then the grandparents who raised her died . She met and fell in love with Sarp. They had Nissan ,Bahar is pregnant with Doruk when Sarp falls off the ferry and is believed dead . ( We find out later that Sirin was obsessed with him and caused the fall.) Bahar's mother will not help her because BSC Sirin wont let her and the mother knows that Sirin has mental problems. Enver is Sirin's biological father , but he is a good man and reaches out to help Bahar and loves her and her kids . Ceyda lives across the hall from Bahar and doesn't help her . I think she is a prostitute or mistress. I think she sleeps with Arif's weasely father , and there is a scary mobster guy who beats her and is obsessed with her. Eventually Behar tries to help Ceyda , and they become close friends . Ceyda and Bahar's work friend Yeliz know what a rat Sirin is beat her up ! They are devoted friends to Bahar . At first , Arif avoids Bahar , but he watches how she cares for her kids every day , and he starts to help the kids and eventually falls in love with her . Then Sarp shows up alive and living a new life with another woman and the father of twin boys . His father in law with Sirin's help made him believe that Bahar and the kids are dead by making graves for them . Then, Sarp learns they are alive and tries to find them . His father in law sends his henchmen after Sarp to keep him from going to Bahar and kids . I think his father in law is a rich criminal , and Sirin has an affair with him . It's complicated .

Susan, ack! Would love to see your comment. Maybe rgvchick can fetch it?

Thanks for writing it anyway!

Meanwhile, I’ve come up with another question. Who is that angry granny of Arda, the special needs child? Is she Emre’s mother? Ceyda’s?

I really like Ceyda. Seems a bit dim, but spunky.
Arif I can’t read, just his sad eyes and few words.
Yes, the child actors are amazing, such sensitive kids and it all shows in their eyes/expressions.
Clara

Mujer

Susan, looked back at your earlier comment and to clarify, Emre believes he is not Arda’s father because he has a DNA test that says so (test was required because Emre was seeking custody).
Bahar took Ceyda the hospital because Ceyda had a fever, and to do another DNA test.
Those results are what Dr. Jale is now racing to deliver (drama, she was stuck in traffic). We should find out tomorrow.

Now that i’m reading Clara’s comments, I’m remembering Arda! I love that character! So, maybe I haven’t completely given up! I’ll try to keep up with the story. The actors are wonderful and it’s a compelling tale.

Clara, okay . I will try again . my last line was " Its complicated ."

I don't understand much dialogue and Wikipedia in English us vague. Here's what I think I know ...
Bahar's mother abandoned her. I don't bound why . Font know who her father was. Her grandparents took her, but they died when she was 8. She met and married Sarp. They had Nissan , and she was pregnant with Doruk when she believed Sarp died .We !After !earn that BSC Sirin Was obsessed with him and when he rejected her , she was responsible for guys throwing him off a ferry .
Meanwhile , Bahar and her kids move into a building owned by Arif's sketchy father . Ceyda lives across the hall , but she avoids Bahar and kids . I think Ceyda is a prostitute or mistress . She has a scary, violent guy who abuses her , and Bahar helps her and they become friends . Sirin keeps her mother from helping Hagar who is poor and sick . The mother knows Sirin has mental problems . However, her husband Enver has a heart of gold and helps and loves them. He also accepts Ceyda , and she loves him like a father . Arif ignores Bahar, but he watches her struggle to care for her kids everyday from his seat outside his little cafe across the street. He starts to help the kids and then falls in love with Bahar.
I am not sure who the woman is who cares for Arda. Susan

I appreciate your fighting through the frustration, and thanks Darcy for retrieving!

A lot of background, thanks so much for filling me in. I will have to study up! Had no idea Sirin’s obsession with Sarp went so far back. Whenever Sirin and her wild hair come on the screen, my blood pressure shoots up.

VIDA

Thank you, Diana, Liz, Waterlily, Doris, Susan and Urban!

Diana, your comments are always a joy to read. "Even though Malena has been cruel and heartless to her own children, especially Teo, her taunting and baiting of Emiliano was sickening." I had never seen this actress before, but she does play evil and MALicious really well. Just thinking about that condescending look and smirk makes me sick.

Liz, yes, Paula did tell Rol to leave before; I believe it was when she found out how he had treated Suzy and not allowed her to go play with Teo. He simply ignored it and Paula didn't follow through. I reeeeally hope she follows through this time.

Waterlily, "How long will it be before Rolando decides to kill both Paula and Pepe?" I fear it will be sooner than later, Rol is becoming more unhinged and he did not hesitate to kill German whom he tolerated for several years. Pepe better watch his back; if Rol decides to "strike" I think Pepe will get the first hit.

Doris, "My Crockpot Theory© is that Natalia is the child that Gracia gave up." I thought the exact same thing, but then as I thought about it, I started having doubts. Rosa doesn't seem the type of person that would tell all to her child, thus turning her daughter against her aunt. On the other hand, if Rosa and Gracia were amicable back then, she would have known the Gracia was pregnant, and possibly that Gracia gave up the baby for adoption. There are so many possibilities to this backstory

Susan, "Rol has gone off the deep end . Can you imagine dealing with someone that toxic and unhinged while also dealing with cancer ?" No, I can't! I am totally blown away with Paula's resilience. Seems to me that it was only a few hours before that Paula was looking pale and feeling sick. Or maybe I'm wrong?? It just seems unrealistic to me.

Urban, like Susan, I hadn't even thought about MAL drinking while pregnant. The woman doesn't care at all about any of her children, the baby is only her ticket to controlling Rafa and getting money out of it. She's completely unscrupulous. The only thing that makes up for her evilness is that her schemes usually fail.

Mujer
Sirin drives me nuts. I try to look away, check my phone, anything, to avoid her!!! I think she has mental problems, so it’s fitting that she makes me crazy, I guess! I agree that must be a wig!
The kids are wonderful! I’ll stick with it! It’s nice to have a little Mujer patio!!!

Sirin’s hair, wig seems likely, so wild, so much of it! Perfect fit for her crazy self.

Clara, Maggie,Babachita, it's nice to know that we have some kindred spirits here to ride this wave to the finale. I wonder how many episodes are left and if the writers are going to continue to throw something new and weird into this simmering pot in every episode. Here we go.....
