VIVIR #40 Part 1

Dead Man Walking…

Fatima walks in and confronts Misael and Monica as to what she overheard. Monica swills her cocktail and doesn’t really respond.

THE dinner continues as Rebeca tries to garner sympathy from Elena and Santiago (poor, poor Refrida) saying she was afraid they wouldn’t accept her. They lap it up like a cat lapping up cream but Angel is not so inclined. Angel drops Brayan’s name and Rebeca gets fire in her eyes, leaning forward. Elena takes Rebeca’s hand like a mother hen, uttering the ever-present argument Rebeca is your hermana. Death stares between Angel and Rebeca continue.

Loli comes into her room where Pedrito is hiding under a chair. She brought him bread and a drink as he smiles happily.

Alma tells Lupe she is grateful Angel isn’t going to have her arrested. She recalls slapping Rebeca in the hospital for stealing her sister’s husband and telling her she is infirma. Alma doesn’t share these thoughts with Lupe.

Back at Elena’s, Alma’s name is brought up. Just then, Alma calls Angel. Angel answers, bidding her a good evening and asking how she is. Rebeca stares murderously.

JE talks with his family and Cris brings up the pregnancy as Fatima looks on seriously. Don Emilio is clearly uncomfortable, stating the obvious that your wife is the sister of your ex-wife.

Elena asks Angel what Alma wants. Angel says she doesn’t know but Alma wants to talk with her tomorrow. Angel gets up, signaling the end of this pathetic party. Rebeca also gets up and Santiago shakes her hand; Elena gets a hug.

The housekeeper comes into the room, starting to stutter looking like she has seen a ghost. Someone has arrived…

Fatima questions JE, are you sure the child is yours? JE harkens back to his conversation with Misael in the hospital. Fatima comes clean that she overheard Misael and Monica talking.

Outside the mansion, Misael grabs Rebeca who tries to wave him off asking him what he wants. It’s my child he insists angrily. When she says it’s JE’s baby, he tells her he isn’t stupid! She tries to get by and he viciously grabs her, seeing the earrings. Finally she is able to break free and stalks into the house ahead of him. As she bursts into the living room, there, in plain sight, very much alive and in all his non-glory sits Mau! A quick visual assessment seems to reveal the only external injury seems to be a broken arm. Cris says he was hit by a car and it is a miracle he survived. Monica and Adofo join the fun. Rebeca is impactada. Ironically, Misael is the only one who offers a semi-kind word saying the important thing is that you are all right. Monica asks after Rebeca’s health as she says fine, looking away, chewing on her thumbnail.

Cris gives Mau the you better behave speech and Mau seems agreeable and grateful. He reminds her how important she is and that it is his family too. Cris stares. He tells her he still loves her!

VIVIR #40 Part 2 of 2

Rebeca asks JE if this is his bedroom and is given a sweet and short no. Rebeca thought she and JE would be sleeping together. The marriage is over JE tells her. She pours it on saying she is a victim of circumstances. He questions her as to why she waited to announce the baby just when he and Angel reconciled. She pleads that “it just happened that way”. She says she loves him but he asks how that could be true when they just met. He asks her if she wanted his money but she denies it. He won’t forgive her betrayal and manipulation. She runs her hands down his face and asks what she could do to make him believe her? He tells her that when the baby is born, he wants a paternity test!! He turns his back and walks away.

Elena is STILL asking Angel to give her sister a chance as Angel dissolves in tears.

Don Emilio and Adolfo talk. He assures Don Emilio everything is going well with Gabriela’s case. Don Emilio wants him to investigate Mau’s story to see if it is true. DE believes in Adolfo and is confident he will find out everything Mau is hiding.

Mau tells Cris he wants to do things “right” this time. He asks about JE and she tells him he and Rebeca are married! He tells her what a wonderful woman she is but she isn’t beginning to buy it. He smirks.

JE calls Angel who answers exasperated. He (finally) takes responsibility for everything that has transpired. Things are spiraling out of control and he needs her. As they both cry, Angel says they are finished and asks him to stop calling her. They both cry…

Answer me Misael Monica demands! She saw how upset Rebeca was and wants answers! Monica keeps asking him if he had anything to do with running down Mau. Then Adolfo interrupts, telling them about his conversation with Don Emilio. Both Adolfo and Misael walk off in Monica’s face.

Rebeca, clad in a towel, returns to her room to find Misael there. Misael thinks Mau is up to something. Rebeca thinks he is playing with them. “Us” Misael asks. She is the one who ran Mau over! Next they discuss trying to find the papers Mau has that indite Misael.

The family has breakfast the next day. Cris asks everyone to try and be tolerant of Mau, he needs their support. Fatima tilts her head, looking at JE showing her patience has evaporated. Don Emilio is not a fan, saying she shouldn’t be so naïve, he doesn’t believe anything he says. Then, Fatima brings up an article she read about a woman who lost everything when she was required to have a paternity test! Rebeca stares angrily

Loli is trying to sneak Pedrito out of the house when Alma comes home. Loli pleads and Alma tells her it’s OK…The three hug and she kisses them both on the cheek, promising she will help him find a good home.

Elena is berating Angel for wanting to meet with Alma. She isn’t a bad person Fatima responds to which Elena says Rebeca isn’t a bad person!! Oh my…

Renato asks Angel to go to an expo they’ve been invited to this weekend. Angel happily accepts, a few days away would be great. They hug.

Rebeca visits Alma who tells her she is going to reveal everything to JE and Angel who are on their way. Lying through her teeth, Rebeca agrees that JE and Angel deserve to know the baby is not JE’s and offers to wait there with her. As soon as Alma leaves the room, Refrida puts poisonous drops in her drink. Alma starts choking and convulsing on the floor!! Rebeca coldly asks if Alma wants her to call an ambulance. Of course she has no such intention, and with Alma writhing on the floor in agony, Rebeca coolly takes her bag and leaves.

Vivir. You've outdone yourself this time, Diana. Even more excellent than usual! So the lost earring in the envelope with the warning note did come from Mauricio. And now that he's back (and alive) who knows what kind of havoc he will sow!. Oh boy! Rebeca strikes again! I presume that Alma will not be killed but just incapacitated as before (though who knows) . And another opportunity for the truth to come out foiled! I thought the scene with Rebeca and Misael kissing while she was clad only in a towel was intriguing. Even if her marriage to JE did last, would those 2 still be carrying on? Evil + Evil.

One correction would be when JE was refecting back on the hospital encounter, it was with Bryan saying he was Rebecca's ex novio I laughed at the scene with Monica, for once she wasn't holding a drink after arguing with Misael. Can someone refresh my memory, how did Mau find the incriminating papers, did he find them in the potted plant in the library, or are they still hidden there.

Diana, wow, you rock !!! What an amazing recap of everything that happened . Thank you so much.

So...Mau suddenly appears ! I guess he was in a hospital somewhere , and nobody contacted his family . okay. ...suspending my disbelief . Whatever . He's bacccckKk and trying to win back Chris ...ha ha...good luck with that. Well, it will be barrels of fun watching Mau terrorize Refrida. Good times.

I hope Brayan keeps skateboarding and tumbling by now and then to keep harassing Refrida , who just wants him to leave her alone as she schemes and strategies.

Gala is doing an amazing job making me despise her . Those cold, calculating, cocky looks...brrrr. You can almost see the tiny wheels spinning furiously in her head . She and Misael are sure taking chances meeting in her room.

I am confused about Gala's hair . Is it naturally curly and has been straightened , or was she wearing a curly wig? Evidently Refrida now has smooth , straight Hair because she feels that she is now a part of the upper class, and she sees the upper c!ass ladies do not have curls .


Diana, I was thinking about that long ago show " Enimigo Querida" that you commented on. It was the first time I saw Gabe Soto, who was the galan who played Alonso. I liked to refer to him as Alonslow. He had one expression and always looked dazed ,confused, and lackluster. The guy who miraculously ended up with the leading lady was a hot chef , so maybe Chef Renato does actually have a chance ending up with Angel ...but I don't really think so. I am quite sure that JE is going to end up with Angel. Well, it will be fun to watch JE fret and fume about this trip that Renato and Angel are going to take . ha ha.

Refrida has a heart of Stone , poisoning her mother again and leaving her writhing in pain on the floor . Her anvil is going to be very big .

Initially, Refrida's hair seemed curly but is nicely coiffed now.

"It will be fun to watch JE fret and fume about this trip that Renato and Angel are going to take". It doesn't take JE much to get riled up does it??? Can't wait for him to be seething with jealousy!

Refrida is heartless, agreed.

Diana, as always I thank you for another great fun recap. This time I have read the recap before seeing the entire episode. My Spanish seems to be a little better when I already have some idea of what the characters will say :-)

No, no, no! This is not cheating in the slightest, says I. Just priming the pump a bit, so to speak.

At this point I have not yet seen the whole episode, so I will comment further later, but I wanted to thank you for the enjoyable recap before it gets too late in the evening, as it sometimes happens.

Here's hoping somebody drops by in time to see Alma. Dang that clueless JE for telling Frida her mother would be meeting with him later that day.

Elena and Cris' feelings are understandable but they need to start keeping them to themselves. They getting on my nerves with their incompetent advice to Angel and JE. I'm glad Angel is taking a break and getting away.

Santiago is getting on my nerves too keeping his mouth shut about everything and apparently he has forgotten all about poor scapegoat Ramiro, who saved his butt in jail.

When I miss an episode of a TN and can't watch til the next day, it's a huge help to read the recap beforehand or read it while the show is airing. "Priming the pump" can be very helpful! 😊

I will look forward to hearing your perspective once you've had a chance to see the show in its entirety.

I have to say, I am amazed (but pleased) there has been some sort of revelation in almost every recent episode. This was no exception...

Niecie, thank you. Over the years, you've made many wise predictions that have come to pass. I thought Mau was gone, dead and buried. I only got suspicious as we went along. Sometimes, it takes me a while...

I agree neither Cris nor Elena is dispensing good advice to their children at this point.

Santi is useless...still mum about what happened when Dulce died and Ramiro (as you noted).

I wonder if Angel and Renato will have a "moment" on their upcoming trip!!?

Susan I was so confused when you were saying how Gala was making you despise her. I'm like, no Gala is a sweet teenager, how can you hate her, and maybe you were confusing soaps. I'm watching 'Amor no tiene receta' in the evening. I'm guessing Gala is the actresses name that plays Frida. I may be in the minority, but I thought her hair was pretty curly.

Kat, Gala Montes is the actress portraying Refrida. She usually plays a good girl, but she is certainly doing a ggod job of being the bad girl in this show.

She had very curly hair in this show, but since the wedding , she has smooth , straight locks .

Diana, the recap was great and a big, big help!

JE is "lucky" that Refrida wants him, though because of his money and position. That "I want a paternity test!" might have ticked off our Rebeca, who does not abide being ticked off or threatened. But I suppose JE is safe enough, at least until and if Rebeca gets enough stuff transferred into her name. Then she could play the disconsolate widow for a while. But what would she do then? I suppose she could find a few people, at least, to kill off.

Don Emilio is the only one in the family who has a functioning brain, and the functioning is temporarily impaired. When he is totally back we will know they are wrapping things up.

I have some small hope for Adolfo, we'll see if he finds out anything about Mauricio. But sooner or later he will have to deal with the fact that Misael and Monica are involved in some very bad business.

I am also tired of seeing Angel's midriff. What's the point?

I am very upset about Alma, and I hope she is saved somehow. But this show doesn't much mind expending characters. I was sorry to see Antonio go, and Ramiro too. Yet the bad characters seem to be spared.

Gala Montes is definitely killing it (ahem!) as Rebeca. Well, we have all heard how actors enjoy playing villains over goody-goody people. If so, she must be having a great time.
And while she is definitely hot in this novela she could still give somebody nightmares.

No, Rebeca "doe not abide being ticked off or threatened" does she?? One need look no further than Alma.

I think Adolfo has some added incentive for trying to find something "on" Mau. Namely Cris whom he seems to pine for, quite quietly.

Ramiro who deserved so much better was a tragic loss. But I have hope that justice will be served in at least some measure, for all those who deserve it here. And I'm including Monica although that might upset you. 😊

It does seem villains are likely far more fun to play, certainly for Rebeca who gets to scheme to get everything she wants, sleep with whomever and terrorize her enemies without a care in the world. Meanwhile, Angel, whose life should have been a fairy tale has had her heart broken and has had to cry buckets of copius tears just about every day. Not fun and hard, hard work.

OT, I obviously have too much free time on my hands while babysitting my toddler granddaughter. Just discovered Nadie Como Tu and I am 7 episodes into it.....anybody else watching it?

That "family dinner" was awful. Santiago buys Refrida's act. Big surprise. This is the dummy that almost lost the family business because of gambling. And he's too dumb to throw Misael under the bus.

I'm so glad that JE didn't give Refrida an inch. And that's amazing gall on her part to think he'd actually sleep in the same bed with a coral snake.

I love the flashes of insight that Don E. has. He's put the right guy on Mau. Adolfo would be the happiest guy in Mexico if he could find some more dirty linen on Mau.

I really enjoyed Fatima sticking to Refrida at the breakfast table, telling that "story" about some woman losing her nest egg because of a paternity test.

I think we're all waiting anxiously for the moment when Elena realizes she's the mother of a "bad seed". Anyone else old enough to remember that movie?

What is up with preppy , clueless Santiago with his sweater draped around his shoulders ? He seems happy as a clam with not a care in the world with no memory of the chaos,he caused or poor Ramiro who protected him in prison . Pass the potatoes, Sis. QTH?

I can't wait to watch Mau stir the pot as he hovers around Refrida whispering threats and taunts.

Susan, yes, he does seem to be fairly carefree and he has much that should weigh heavily on his shoulders.

Novelera, I also look forward to Adolfo fining out the truth about Mau, but I suspect Mau will have some time to torture Refrida in the meantime and I look foward to it.

I do remember the Bad Seed! I fear it is going to take time for Elena to take off her rose colored glasses.

I’m afraid Alma will not survive. But how good are the police-oh, never mind. I can see it being solved, she was poisoned, Rebeca had whatever drink she wanted sitting there-an easy solve. Or do I watch too many cop shows! I’m not sure telenovela police are payed to solve the crimes. If Alma lives she’ll have to fight for her life, too early for JE to discover the baby isn’t his. And I figure Monica will pay to get the results they want. If JE discovers he’s not the father I think it will be because Misael will be a proud dad.

I guess if JE won’t sleep with Rebeca Misael will do. But who moves into a family’s home and doesn’t either dress or use a robe after they shower. How far was the bathroom, it wasn’t in the room!

What will happen to Lupe if Alma dies? I can see Rebeca throwing her and Loki out. Although Rebeca will be playing the sweet grieving daughter. Chris will be swayed for sure. But will JE?

Thank you Diana! Your wonderful recap covered the tone and mood of everyone so perfectly, as always! I personally don't think Alma is going to survive this time and I can't seem to feel sorry for her... not only because I refuse to see her as a good guy, but also because she's just plain stupid for doing this the way she did. She should have told Lupe right then and there what she wanted to tell JE and Angel - which was that she suspected Misael was the father of Refrida's baby because she'd seen them making out in the hospital! If she'd told Lupe, half the cast would know by now, and her life wouldn't be in danger, because why kill her over something everyone knows? If she wasn't going to tell Lupe, she should've gone and told Angel and/or JE in person instead of calling to make an appointment that Rebeca could hear and/or be told about. Or called and told immediately over the phone!! Or not told Rebeca that she was about to tell the truth! She knows her daughter and knows she's off her rocker and she swings a big ol' 'Kill me' sign in front of the bull, and I just don't feel bad for her!!!

All this talk about playing the bad girl vs. good girl has me wondering how Kimberly dos Ramos is liking playing the good girl when she's so used to being oh so bad!!! I wonder if she's jealous of the fun Gala gets to have? I would think scheming is more fun than crying! I am sick of the mid riff look in general - I wish that fashion choice would die!!! But I have to say I've noticed on Kim (Angel) that she is very muscular, you can see her ab muscles when she turns in those bare mid riff shirts! So, she's not just thin, but in shape. It takes some pretty serious gym routine to get that sort of definition, I suppose her hard work should be noticed.

I'm glad Mau is alive to torment, like others have said! This is another person, even more entitled than Romina, how could he possibly think Cris would take him back after DECADES of mistreatment!?! He's entertaining though, so I vote to keep him!

No one in a novela can ever just let anything breathe! Of course, we wouldn't have the drama if they did, but still. Elena discovered her long lost daughter and everyone has to get along and be the happy family TODAY!!! You can't form your own bond, take your time, give Angel a month or two or maybe a couple years to get over the whole husband stealing of it all?? It's gotta be TODAY!!! smh! Even Refrida's reaction to JE wanting a paternity test! You gotta act all shocked and offended and say something TODAY - the baby is months away, but it's gotta be discussed TODAY! Not that I'm advocating assistance to Refrida's schemes, because I'm not; but if I were her, I'd just agree to the test. It looks supportive, it makes you look innocent and like you have nothing to hide. Then you have seven month to get back in his good graces and to make him fall in love with the baby!!! JE is an idiot, I'd bet a lot of money she could get him to forget all about that test by the time the baby arrived if she played it cool, but no, we need resolution TODAY!!! Of course!!!

That said, I did find Fatima's comment about the paternity test hilarious!!! I also thought it was funny when Fatima confronted Monica and Misael and Monica about the need for a DNA test, and Monica was just like 'Oh, I was just wondering about all the possibilities, you know how I am!' LOL such a good coverup, because if Monica didn't know that there were other men, she def would be suggesting the possibility that there were, it's totally who she is!
 

Vivir. I too remember The Bad Seed. It made quite a splash when it came out, though I didn't see it. I think it might have been Adults Only. It starred child actress Patty McCormick, and if children couldn't see it, I did wonder about a child acting in it. I had a classmate who was adopted and was obsessed with it. I don't know if she read the book or somehow managed to see the movie, but it was sad the effect it could have on someone who didn't know her true origin.

VIVIR #41 Part 1

Rebeca tries to leave Alma’s unobtrusively but Pedrito is outside and sees her! Rebeca takes off in a cab.

Mau has hidden the incriminating papers on the bottom side of his nightstand. He mutters to himself, wondering who sent the papers to JE.

Bruno shows up at Romina’s to her great consternation. What are you doing here?? He mocks her and says she is done helping them. She needs to convince Luciano to leave the hacienda! He urges her to make haste as the quicker they leave, the less likely one of them will suffer an accident!

Sebastian ushers Monica into an office. Woo Hoo Monica crows! She’s hit paydirt, a fully stocked liquor cabinet. She is swilling her drink as she listens to a threatening message from Mau. Bruno comes in and informs her he couldn’t find anything in the records to incriminate Luciano. She says he has to find someone to get rid of Mau; someone who won’t implicate them. Guppy kissing ensues.

Gabriela kneels down thanking Don Emilio for getting her released. He knows she is completely innocent and asks her to return, he has complete confidence in her! At first she refuses but when Adolfo and Cris, standing firmly behind Don nod in agreement, she agrees. She conjures up a mental image of Bruno but says she does not want to say anything as to who might be guilty for the moment.

Fatima knows Bruno came to tell Monica he couldn’t find anything wrong at the hacienda and that he wants to get rid of Luciano. If they want to find the “estador’ they look no further than the company.

Angel arrives at Lupe’s with Pedrito greeting her. She speaks kindly and knocks on the door. Smart girl, she opens the door when Lupe doesn’t answer. She runs to Alma’s side who now is foaming at the mouth. JE arrives on Angel’s heels picks Alma up effortlessly and they head out to the hospital.

Seb gives Angel an invite to the Expo. She is going to go as DE has always attended.

Luciano and family are at a fair. Romina sees and approves of Gabriel but Mati tells her they are just friends.

Angel and JE are at the hospital and JE wonders why Alma wanted to talk with both of them. Rebeca flies in, crying asking how Alma is. JE gets up and tries to comfort her. Angel keeps her seat although she looks distressed.

Luciano sends Angel a voice mail saying he won’t give up on her.

A somber and serious Fatima calls the hacienda and learns they are at the Charreada.

VIVIR #41 Part 2 of 2

The doctor arrives and tells them Lupe was poisoned and is in serious condition. He has reported it to the police and they have already arrived to question her in case she does not make it. JE and Angel blanche in horror. He tells Rebeca they will want to question her and JE and Angel too. The nurse suggests they might wish to visit Alma to calm her down.

Fun at the fair continues and Gabriel has joined in the fun and games. Romina tries to pry as to what JE might have told Luciano about the fraud. Luciano can’t understand why she won’t tell him who set her up. Javier brings ice cream to his parents.

Rebeca arrives to talk with Agent Corral. She is investigating Alma’s poisoning, an attempted homicide. Rebeca acts as pure as the driven snow.

Gabriel tells Mati she can talk to him about anything. She tells him Lucas is going to set up Brayan.

Speaking of Brayan, he has grown suspicious of Lucas and demands he steal something immediately or he will kill him! Lucas steals a wallet and Brayan is mollified, at least for the moment. However, he is not unseen. Marisa’s friend witnesses what happened!

Alma is hooked up to machines as Angel and JE enter. The nurse explains that Alma can communicate yes and no by moving her finger. Alma indicates she doesn’t want Rebeca there. Angel asks if she want to talk about R’s baby and she answers yes. Before they can react, Rebeca bursts into the room.

Reb rushes over screaming Alma can’t die! She starts mewling that Alma does not’ want them to upset her because of the baby. Of course Alma starts hyperventilating as JE drags R away as the crash cart is employed.

Adolfo shows up at Lupe’s again but she sends hm away. She tells Luis she feels badly for lying but they have to protect their son/

Mau meets with Monica who is upset he picked such a public place. She tells Mau Rebeca acted on her own. He says he’s given evidence to the police in case something happens to him. He wants 60% of what they stole. She agrees but says it will take some time but she will get it to him.

Pedrito brings both Loli and Marisa flowers. He picks up a photo of Rebeca and her father and actually says he saw her leaving a while ago and she was very rude!

Sebastian is at work and receives a message from an unknown person saying that if anything happens to him, look under the drawer! Sebastian looks confused and shakes his head. Then, he is summoned to Don Emilio’s office. Don thanks him for all his help in securing Gabriela’s freedom. He says she is returning and will help him with the investigation.

Alma survived her heart attack but she is in the ICU and cannot have visitors.

Lupe arrives at the hospital and wastes no time asking Refrida what she did!! JE tells her Alma was poisoned. Lupe stares at Rebeca and swears if she had anything to do with it, she will pay! Rebeca, a sad expression on her face, bats her eyelashes and tries (in vain) to look innocent!

Vivir. Another excellent recap, Diana! That scene with Rebeca in Alma's hospital room was incredibly intense! I didn't think Alma would survive after just about coding, but evidently she did. I guess the writers aren't done toying with us, and I wonder if Alma will survive the novela. Also, when will important people know that Pedrito saw Rebeca at Alma's despite her lie that she wasn't there? I don't understand how Lupe thinks she's protecting Lucas by just telling him to stay away from Brayan. Of course that's impossible, and despite his plan to foil Brayan, I expect Lucas will be the one who ends up in jail--at least for the short run. And I guess Monica and Bruno are planning to hire a professional hitman to kill Mauricio. Wonder how that will work out.

A few clarifications, Lucas stole a cell phone, not a wallet. Pedrito was acting as a shoe shine boy in the entrance to the barrio so he wasn't directly outside Alma's house to see that Rebecca left from there. Also, if the police suspect poisoning, why aren't they searching her house immediately. Loli's mom comes home to the children and washes the cup Alma drank from, only with water, no soap or scrubbing, so maybe there is still a bit of poison in it. Of course Rebecca never touched the cup so except for finding the source of the poison, it wouldn't have done much good. Rebecca lived there so if she left fingerprints behind she can explain them away.
OT couple of days ago I started watching Nadie Como Tu. Ironically, another young girl was stolen from a family and 21 years later Ximena is a lovely young woman with a heart of gold. It's about 14 episodes into it so if anyone wants to try it out. I like it so far(I'm on episode 10 so until I'm caught up I wouldn't even try to recap it and as everyone else knows, learning character names and relationships in the beginning is the biggest challenge.)

"Intense" is the perfect word to describe the aur surrounding Lupe in her hospital room! Rebeca was unshakeable and didn't even blink when Lupe made her threat!

When Pedrito told Loli he had seen Rebeca that day, I didn't think Marisa was listening. But yes, I'm sure his seeing her will come up at some point!

I think you might well be right about Lucas ending up in jail. Brayan may not be the brightest but he is the crafty and lethally dangerous.

Refrida should have paid attention in chenm class. Now she has another reason to smarm all over dim JE. My mother!!! My bebe!!! Poor me!!!

Meanwhile, Angel stands by looking all torn up.

Kat, as you are new here, I wanted to give you a bit of background that I've shared with our patio.

I do not speak Spanish and my understanding of the language is limited, mostly to words here and there. I recap by watching what transpires, with particular emphasis on facial expressions and actions. Dialog often eludes me, some times I happen to guess correctly, many times I don't. I don't have a DVR, I watch live and type as I go.

I began recapping this as I thought the story was a good one and wanted to see if enough interest could be generated.

The intuitive patio here has been immensely kind and generous with their comments. Together, we've been able to make sense out of just about everything and for that I am extremely grateful. Although approximately 98% of my recaps have been done solely by me, today, a dear friend took the initiative and sent me some crucial information that I incorporated into my recap. She knows that by Friday, I am wiped out.

My recaps won't always be accurate but they will reflect my best effort.

I've got to say that generally I hated it when the trajectory of a novela was interrupted by a day's futbol game, but in the case of this one we're overdue for some sort of respite (except for weekends) from the back and forth, back and forth of all the relationships, the embezzling scheme etc. Things seem about to be resolved, then they aren't, then the same sort of conflict between JE and Angelli is replayed, the same sort of evil plots by Monica, Masiel, Rebeca, etc. Let's have either a rest or a new plot line if this novela is going to last 125 episodes!

Susan, for someone who doesn't speak Spanish you are doing an amazing job. I started learning with Duolingo a year ago so I'm not far behind you. You must type really fast . I couldn't imagine keeping up with everything going on. I type with one finger on my phone words I hope to learn in the Spanish English dictionary app, and then promptly forget what word I just learned! Keep up the good work, it is appreciated.

Diana, I was a Spanish Professor for 40 years, am reasonably fluent in Spanish (though I do find the closed captioning on my tv--in Spanish--helpful, just because my hearing's not as sharp as it once was), and I would never have guessed that you don't speak Spanish. You must be more skilled in the language than you think you are.

Diana, thanks once again! I would really love to know just how good your Spanish really is. (That's just a way of saying I think you are much too modest about your Spanish skills.)

Of course something can always be gleaned from watching the action, the faces, the reactions, etc., of the characters. But you go waaaay beyond what I might expect from watching without understanding all the Spanish dialog. And you do it with one viewing! I can hardly imagine that. I have to record things, occasionally back up a scene or two, turn on subtitles, etc., etc. And still I know I have missed some things.

In any event, your recaps are a gift and a treat.


I don't know if I have to say this, but anyway I am sick and tired of Brayan, his acrobatics and gang, and whatever. Bryan's anvil should be Rebeca, marry them off, make them live together, see who survives longer. My money would be on Rebeca.

Some novelas have the "only restaurant in CDMX", this one has the only police detective in CDMX, Agent Corral. Maybe it's just anything to do with the Rivero Cuéllar family, she gets assigned.

This chapter, amazingly, had me laughing at some points.
I have seen this in comedies, but this is no comedy. JE, Angel, and Rebeca were getting excited and arguing, paying absolutely no mind to poor Alma who was having difficulty breathing while her heart was jumping out of her chest. I'm glad the nurse and doctor(?) rushed in finally. Again, I hope Alma makes it, but with Rebeca around, poor Alma's chances are not great.

More (unintended?) comedy, Lupe knows Rebeca and accuses her, and even threatens her. Rebeca is astonished, of course. Who, me??? With a totally puzzled look on her face.
Meanwhile, JE, a true imbécil, just looks from one to the other, not knowing what to think. If he can think, that is.

At least Lupe knows the true Rebeca.

Diana I did take 1 quarter of Spanish in college 41 years ago, but I got so mixed up because I was taking 3rd year college French at the same time I didn't stick with it. Andy I "hear" you on needing the subtitles.....also I have always preferred reading to TV watching so it's like reading a picture book., I got sucked into TNs in the hopes of improving my ear for Spanish, my DIL's family is from PR, via Colombia and mi consuegras no habla ingles.....so I have hopes of being able to understand them next time we meet.

Diana, what would we do without you! So many things about this novela drive me crazy, but I keep tuning in.

I have had many years of studying Spanish at the Adult Evening School in my town, going from beginning to intermediate, to advanced. Since the pandemic my advanced class is on Zoom. But I still really like captions. Most of the actors have excellent diction and I could get by. But it's just sort of comforting to have the words up there as well.

From what I understood, Mau actually taped the document proving Misael was the embezzler on the underside of the nightstand in JE's room. He believed, correctly, that no one would search there.

Sebastian set up an office for Monica at the company. I don't think she's ever done a lick of work in her life, but she likely wants to be around to protect Misael and screw with everyone else.

"Guppy kissing"...Loved it!

Sigh. I believe the folks here at Univision Central call this "the patio of delayed gratification" or something like that. Luciano sends Fatima a fond text, but when she calls the hacienda discovers he's off on a family outing. Definitely delayed gratification.

Alma was answering some questions from JE and Angelli by raising a finger once for yes and twice for no. But, of course, Refrida rushed in, made a scene, and made her mother much worse. It's weeks and weeks too soon for all that Refrida has done to come out.

I don’t see how they won’t discover Rebeca poisoned her mother. Although I was upset that Lupe washed the cup. At first I thought the chauffeur had driven Rebeca. But even a cab driver should remember. And Pedrito saw her. Plus Alma wanting to speak to both Angel and JE. But not wanting to see Rebeca. If those two would sit down and think they’d figure this out.

I didn’t realize Sebastian got a phone call about where the papers are hidden. That seems to indicate Mauricio won’t survive. I’m still hoping Alma will.

I agree Lucas will end up in jail. His parents are so sure everything’s ok, so we know he’ll get caught.

I’m glad Fatima is suspicious of Bruno. And of Rebeca. She needs to add her aunt and cousin to her list.

Such a shame that Angel wasted one of the yes-no questions to Alma with "Does Rebeca love JE?" Who cares, you know Rebeca's life goal is to destroy you. Alma gave the finger for "yes," but truly Rebeca loves no one. Too bad Lupe wasn't present for the yes-no with Alma. She would've asked "Did Rebeca poison you?"

Funny when Rebeca faked distraught and hysterical over her mama and draped herself all over JE, but the doctor taking her blood pressure said it was perfectly normal.

Maybe Pedrito hawks different stuff at different times? This time he seemed to be selling a jug of cooking oil when first Rebeca rudely rebuffed him and soon after Angel sweetly said "no thanks." Wondering who will eventually take him in off the streets.

I actually LOL'd when Bruno told Monica that the hacienda's paperwork was in order and Luciano hasn't misused any of the hacienda's funds, so they had no way to accuse him of misconduct!!!! I mean they've been accusing innocent people of nefarious things since day 1, why is it an obstacle now???

Darcy, telenovela legal is very weird indeed. I was under the impression that Romina somehow confessed to "not being careful enough" about the money that went to IIRC a Swiss bank. I don't think she confessed to taking it from the Rivera Cuéllar company in the first place.

I also thought that Alma was a goner but it looks like ReFrida isn't as smart as she thinks she is. It also has to shake her up that Mauricio is still alive.

As to comments about Monica, I think Misael needs protection from her. She always seems to be forcing him into things he'd rather avoid and she took a child away from him before. I think Pedrito is that child.

Fashion Review:

Romina: The plaid shirts do nothing positive for her. She needs her city wear.

Monica: Her outrageous lipstick wardrobe and the extreme outlining must be causing the actress to make exaggerated lip movements to avoid those colours overshadowing her teeth.
