Daytime TNs....Y Mas (#2), Week of April ni
Welcome to page 2 of Daytime TNs! This page is to give those who are watching daytime TNs on any channel a place to discuss the TNs aired prior to 7Pm. If you would like to contribute a recap of just some highlights for a daytime TN, I’m sure there are those who watch the same TNs that would appreciate it.
8-10 AM: Primer Amor a 1000 x hora
10-12 PM: Abrazame Muy Fuerte (Unimas)
11-12 PM: Distilando Amor (Univision)
12-2 PM: Cuando me Enamoro (Unimas)
1-2 PM: Vivir de Amor (Univision)
2-4 PM: Los Tontos No Van Al Cielo (Unimas)
4-5 PM: Nadie Como Tu (Unimas)
6-7 PM: Abismo de Pasion (Unimas)
Labels: daytime, unimas, Univision, vivir
Since none of the shows are being shown & recapped today I figured I would ask if anyone is watching Nadie. Vivir is accounting for so many of the daytime comments I haven't jumped in with this TN. If I'm the only one watching it I'll continue on my lonesome and try to make sense of it all. I like it better than Vivir, honestly.
Hi everyone, just a gentle reminder there was no show this afternoon. It will be on as scheduled tomorrow, Friday and Monday.
However, Comcast shows VIVIR is not airing next Tuesday or Wednesday. It's strange as futbol is on, but not until later in the day so who knows what is behind Looneyvision's scheduling.
Diana
Kat, hopefully someone else will jump in and join you on Nadie Como Tu. It can be more fun when you have company watching a telenovela.
As for me, I often struggle with just one novela, I am certainly not looking to add another. I certainly struggle with Vivir de amor and would be lost at sea if it weren't for Diana's great recaps and others' comments.
Andy
More than three novelas is exhausting, especially if you also recap.
EPISODE#128/EPISODE#129:
*Connie does NOT look too pleased about Gullible Gina's complete STUPIDITY about blah-blah. We all know RENATA is Gina's daughter. Guessing once Gina has something AWFUL happening to her that the truth will eventually come out.
*Karina completely losing it....literally after Lazaro explains that the reason he's been lying to her is because Scumbag Alvaro is alive & well in prison. Karina does NOT take the news very well at all.
*Speaking of Scumbag Alvaro: he made an escape attempt by knocking out one of the doctors & stealing his outfit including the jacket. He also tried to leave the town by speed-boat.
*Karina also tells Lazaro to butt out of her life. It's her life & she gets to make her own decisions. At some point, you're going to need to cut Scumbag Alvaro loose sooner or later.
*Renata & Jeronimo still in the middle of their blah-blah-blah-blah-blah-blah romance. We all know there are more roadblocks.
*Karina is still crying: OMG!
*Scumbag Augie's obsession over Renata still escalating & his drinking isn't going to make her go back to him. Ezek comes into Augie's office: Augie yells at Ezek to get out of the office NOW.
Dr. Marina explains to Uncle Padre about the situation between her, Jeronimo & Renata plus the baby that Marina's carrying.
*Renata visits Alfonsina & her baby.
*Gullible Gina is still freaking GULLIBLE, incompetent & immaterial.
*At the surprise dinner, Honorio presents Adriana with her new official birth certificate. She is now Adriana Sanchez Beltran: She is his & Connie's daughter: HORRAY!
*Karina comes into the living room with the Bonita Gang. Karina & Lazaro have the heart-to-heart discussion. Karina asks Lazaro if he still wants to marry him.
I just turned on my TV to recordings and no Vivir. I was relieved to see it wasn’t shown. I knew the nighttime shows weren’t going to be on but didn’t realize it was all the shows.
Diana, I read your great review yesterday but had to go and didn’t comment. Then later I forgot I hadn’t commented. Well actually I went back to see what else was said and couldn’t find my comment and realized I read your recap and then started supper! But I enjoyed the recap. Was glad Cris finally realized she shouldn’t have pushed JE to marry Rebeca. Now she and JE, and Elena, need to realize what she’s really like.
I’m rooting for Renato and Angel.
Kat, I’m not watching Nadie Como Tú. I’m watching 3 telenovelas and that’s hard! Keeping the characters straight and their names is a challenge.
Liz
Hola, Patio.
Diana, thanks for keeping the conversation going. Your recaps have been on point and must-reads for this crazy show.
I wasn’t planning on disappearing (like Mauricio). I was visiting another country and didn’t realize I wouldn’t be able to contribute these past few weeks. I am back now and up to speed.
My favorite part of the last episode was their nod to Bewitched with Mauricio popping into Mónica’s mirror a la Uncle Arthur and taunting our favorite souse.
I could have gone the whole series without seeing Mónica’s amante’s unfortunate tattoos. Has this character ever made any good choices since Episode 1? I’m glad someone is finally onto him.
Poor Renato - so noble; so cute; so stuck in the Friend Zone! He had great chemistry with Jimena. LOL @ Icky messing up again. You think there’s a Doris 2.O in the wings?
I can’t with the Lucas & Mati storyline. The obnoxious acrobatics. The blatant disrespect for their parents. The pseudo high tech machinations. Hack is wack, to paraphrase the late philosopher W. Houston. Young love is cute, but I find it hard to root for these two. It is remarkable how the casting department found a mini-Romina with Matilde (as noted by Kat).
I was straining to find the outline of the worst hairdo on daytime television on the shadow approaching Rebecca. Surely it’s Misael. Guess we’ll have to wait.
EPISODES#130/131:
*We begin with the fallout over Karina asking Lazaro if he still wants to marry her. But I'm having my doubts because of the ongoing roadblocks regarding Scumbag Alvaro are still going to surface again despite the fact both Lazaro & Karina are kissing passionately before the presence of the Bonita Gang. Meanwhile in Mexico City: Matias & Adriana announcing their engagement.
*Karina makes Renata's day by announcing that it was Renata, who opened Karina's eyes & convinced her that Karina was in control of her own happiness. She made a BIG mistake on marrying Scumbag Alvaro & she has to forgive herself for that in order to get another chance.
*Slacker Berta ruins the moment of Gina's so-called happiness moment by bringing up the fact Gina is about to become Gonzalo's 3rd wife. The doorbell rings, where Renata assumes it's Inez coming to help her get ready for the upcoming wedding of Gonzalo & Regina. But.... it's actually Slacker Berta, who is obviously basking in her successful role as the wet-blanket-to-the-bride isn't even annoyed.
*Right on Cue: Psycho Fina disguised as a nun LOLZ, gets out of Taxi A-94-877. The Taxista is waiting while Psycho Fina cheerfully sauntering her way into the church. Everyone inside the church turns to look at Psycho Fina, who in turn, gives them the "WTF are you looking at" face & shrugs.
*Ruta del Vino: Dr. Marina checking in on Uncle Padre's health situation. Marina mentions that she's considering selling the house & moving back to Mexico City. Uncle Padre is of course, insulted & doesn't like the idea of Marina & her baby living in the DF with nobody to helping out. She makes a pledge of returning to Valle de Guadalupe to have her baby & this way, she can be near Uncle Padre & Jeronimo.
*Carlos is surprised to seeing Matilde's new look without the headband: she's all dressed up in spike heels & red power suit. Something tells me there's more roadblocks heading towards both Carlos & Matilde before happily ever after.
*Regina's attendants are basically attending to her of course with the upcoming wedding. Slacker Berta's EVIL grins & thought-bubbling of more chaos heading towards Regina. Uh-Oh I do NOT like where this is going folks.
*Inez sends Slacker Berta off to retrieving Renata, who stumbled upon an intriguing discovery: the box holding the missing emerald necklace. After another confrontation between the sisters, Slacker Berta is determined to destroying Renata's life for the upteenth time.
*Gina gazing at the photograph of the late Dona Cata: she wishes Dona Cata would still be alive witnessing the upcoming wedding between Gina & Gonzalo; she also blames Antonio for betraying everyone. Inez tells Gina that Dona Cata is looking down from Heaven & that Gonzalo is the perfect man for her. The BFFs hug.
*Back in the sunny Mexico City: Jeronimo & Renata congratulate Matias & Adriana on their engagement. Connie squeals that the bride (Gina) is arriving. Gina steps out of the limousine & she looks more beautiful with those dopey feathery ribbon things in her hair LOL.
*In the meantime, Chema is run into by Selena at the cafe. He recognizes her & asks Selena is she's supposed to be attending the wedding of Gonzalo & Gina. Selena explains that she stopped being friends with Slacker Berta (we'll see how long that'll last). All of a sudden, Chema has another headache episode & collapses, Selena screams for help.
*The wedding ceremony concludes with Gonzalo & Gina being pronounced husband & wife. The full church applauds in cheers, all except for Slacker Berta. However, the moment gets ruined when Psycho Fina pulls out the gun & shoots at BOTH Gonzalo & Gullible Regina in front of everyone outside the church.
Hi Liz, thanks so much!
"Was glad Cris finally realized she shouldn’t have pushed JE to marry Rebeca" was a huge step forward for Cris, wasn't it? She does seem to have stepped back a bit from Rebeca but not enough (IMHO). :)
I'm not watching Nadie either. I'm doing all I can to watch the three I'm following and recap this as well. 😊
Diana
O.S. so good to see your post. Welcome back!
"I wasn’t planning on disappearing (like Mauricio)." And thank goodness for that!
"My favorite part of the last episode was their nod to Bewitched with Mauricio popping into Mónica’s mirror a la Uncle Arthur and taunting our favorite souse" was fabulous; did that ever bring me back!
Renato did have great chemistry with Jimena. I seriously doubt she and Icky have reunited permanently so there is hope.
"Hack is wack" 😊 Just great...
Diana
I'm not watching Nadie either, sorry. Work has gotten all-consuming lately, and I can't keep up with multiple novelas right now. I even stopped watching Receta. I had to stick with just one novela for now.
Vivir
Thank you, Diana, for another fabulous recap! I like others loved all your added snark!
Well, I may be sitting alone, but I'm not all that thrilled with Renato. He may be a nice and good guy, but I don't like that he keeps asking Angel for a chance. He KNOWS, and I mean he KNOWS that she isn't emotionally available and she's in love with JE and yet he still keeps asking. There is just something so unattractive about that to me! I think a truly good guy would just be a friend to her and not try to push for something she isn't ready for. Stay friends, an don't even necessarily wait, but if/when the time comes when Angel is actually in a place to move on, if Renato happens to be still single and interested; let him take a shot then!!!
Speaking of annoying men, why do they have to turn Luis into one? Can't we have any admirable men. I get Andy's perspective on how poverty might contribute to the situation but it was still incredibly sexist of him to blame Lupe for being 'too busy' working to take care of her son! He basically said that it was Lupe's fault Lucas was a theft!! Ick! He's all proud and encouraging when the job is going well and then as soon as anything goes wrong, it's Lupe's fault because she's always working! Dude, take care of your son and support your wife!
I agree though that both Mati and Lucas are annoying in their disrespect of their parents. Lucas got all holier than thou, and 'how could you think I'd be involved' when he WAS involved.
Agent Corral - only cop in town, investigates this crime too!!! She's a homicide, robbery, espionage detective!!
Rebeca has some serious bravado claiming Angel is a husband theft when she literally stole Angel's husband. Then again, maybe it's not bravado, maybe she is just so crazy that she really does believe her own lies!!! I think she really does believe Angel is the villain here. It's only thing to paint a picture and know that it's just a picture you painted, it's another to be actually delusional.
I vote it's Misael in the shadows too!!!
Darcy, thank you so much...
I enjoyed your compelling and thoughtful comments.
Agent Corral is indeed Wonder Woman. She can do it all!
Rebeca is truly disturbed and completely delusional as you noted.
"Can't we have any admirable men" had me wondering...Indeed, the pickings seem slim. Luciano, Renato (who is a good man IMHO), Sebastian, Adolfo and the long ago departed Ulises. Otherwise, I'm stymied. Have I missed anyone??
Diana
Hola, Patio.
Diana, you left out the literal grandfather of admirable men: Don Emilio Rivero Cuéllar. LOL. Otherwise, it’s very slim pickings.
Salsero (Antonio) was quasi-decent - breaking the law to keep BSC Alma happy/sane. I praised Renato earlier, but didn’t he show his jerky tendencies in the premiere (or episode 2) when he dumped Refrida and left her in the middle of nowhere?!?
I hope Luciano and Fátima make it. Despite some unfortunate timing, they have both been admirable the whole season.
So.Far.
Yes Diana, we can’t forget Ulises!! I still haven’t forgiven the writers for killing him off in episode 1!!
OMG O.S., Don Emilio ("the literal grandfather of admirable men")!! Yes, yes. How could I have omitted him??
Yes, Renato was a jerk early on, but as it was Rebeca, I've given him a pass. Otherwise, he's proven to be a pretty good guy.
I am firmly in Luciano and Fatima's corner.
Darcy, I had to include Ulises!! The man AND the actor :)
Diana
I can't remember Ulisses.
Susan
Ulises was the girl’s dad. Killed in episode 1 while trying to rescue Frida. I suppose we can’t actually know whether he was a good guy or not based on five minutes of knowing him. But he inspired life long devotion in Elena and Angel’s memory we saw of her with daddy in the restaurant kitchen was endearing. Plus it was Christian de la Campa (Diego in Vuelve a Mi) so that’s enough said for me! 🙂
EPISODES#132/#133:
*La Bonita Gang gathers to get new developments on the conditions of Gonzalo & Regina.
*TOHIMC: Matias crying behind the glass outside of Gonzalo's room. Matias relieving the moments of their reunion after years apart because of Psycho Fina.
*Fina walking inside the prison yard. She meets with Crazy Blanca, who lures her into plotting revenge against the Monterrubio family.
*Over at the seminary, Antonio talks with Superior to confess that he needs to denounce & expose Fina's crimes, but didn't when the opportunity came before he joined up with the pastoralcy, so he needs to repent many sins.
*Inez giving Regina encouragement, but Regina is preoccupied about Gonzalo.
*Selene brings Chema home, but he doesn't remember what's happening to him.
*Special Agent informing the Monterrubio's that the charges are moving along in ensuring Fina stays in prison.
*Jeronimo & Renata visiting Gonzalo's room outside through the glass. Renata has flashbacks of young Fina introducing young Berta & young Renata to young Gonzalo.
*Scumbag Alvaro still on the loose & he accosted a young woman, who was distracted by her phone conversation. He steals her phone, wallet, etc., Alvaro must be hungry LOL.
*Marina crying inside her office, while rubbing her baby belly.
*Slacker Berta bemoaning about....... HERSELF again blahblah blah blah blah. She later plots more chaos with Scumbag Augie in busting up Jeronimo & Renata for the upteemth time.
*Carlos tells Stuffy Buji Mommy about NOT eanting more lessons for Matilde. Something tells me there's more roadblocks in store for Carlos & Matilde. We see Lazaro & Karina being happy about their love, completely oblivious to the dreaded news of Scumbag Augie being on the loose. Later at the TOHIMC in Mexico City, Antonio confessses to Regina about his complicity in Dona Cata's death.
Susan
First, a dramatic closeup of the exterior of the house followed by a shot of Rebeca’s darkened bedroom. The shadowy figure moving toward the bed is revealed to be Misael. Rebeca is awakened, alarmed and angry. Their war of words begin, he quickly getting insistent, grabbing her arm, telling her she is “his”. She glares and manages to get pesky intruder #1 out of the room, locking the door behind him.
Cris opens her bedroom door unhappily surprised to see Mau (pesky intruder #2). He wants another chance to recapture his children. She tells him he needs to tell that to Fatima and JE and says buenos noches, frost dripping from her mouth.
The burning sun rises in the sky.
Rebeca (wearing a homely “Honey” emblazoned shirt) talks with JE. He insists they need to end the marriage; he is not staying by her side. We see a suitcase being wheeled out into the hall. He declares that they cannot continue living in the same house!!
Jimena asks about the expo. Angel tells her friend if she learned anything, she knows she must forget JE. At that moment, Renato and Elena enter. Renato exclaims Santiago will be a great chef (like his father Elena adds). Angel touches Renato’s arm as he smiles delightedly.
JE is firm in his decision. JE admits he made a mistake and she is only there because of the baby. Rebeca cries and begs Elena to help her! JE is depriving her child from growing up with his father. Cris looks grim but says she won’t intervene.
Lucas and his parents are at the jail. Agent Corral shows them the tape and announces he is under arrest. Somehow, Lucas manages to flee, doing somersaults over the desks, escaping despite half a dozen officers chasing him!
Romina slips and tells Luciano “those” responsible are still roaming free. She says she sent the evidence to JE but he’s done nothing so he must be involved! Luciano looks extremely skeptical.
Uh oh, Bruno has taken a powder! Sebastian tells JE he thinks Misael tipped him off. JE nods thinking Monica must have told Misael. Sebastian relates that the fraud has put them in jeopardy of going bankrupt!
Elena’s doorbell rings and lo and behold, its Angel’s worst nightmare, Rebeca! Angel stares as Santiago and Elena react in “slow mo”. She tells them JE betrayed her and they argued, so she left. She has the unmitigated gaul to look Angel in the eye and say that if she has a problem with her (Rebeca) staying there she’ll leave.
Elena tells her errant daughter that this is your casa, your refuge. Thank you she manages as she hugs Elena. She tells Angel she isn’t going to cause any problems. Santiago (the little traitor) hugs her as Angel stands off to the side.
JE is working with Sebastian to try and find a way to save the company, there is no way they are going to fire anyone. JE tells Sebas the more he gets to know Rebeca, the more he realizes what a huge mistake he made. He is going to move into the apartment he and Angel were going to live in.
Santiago tells Angel not to take away their mother’s happiness (as I gag). Angel admits Rebeca’s presence brings out the worst in her; she knows she cannot continue to live there.
Diana
Rebeca tells Elena she couldn’t have stayed where they hated her, they only wanted her there because of the baby. Cris didn’t support her and only did what the kids want her to.
A worried Cris tells JE that Rebeca has left the house! Que? She wants him to tell her to come back! (so much for not interfering). She knows Rebeca is mentally infirm but is worried about her grandchild. JE laments Rebeca’s manipulations and that she separated him from the love of his life. JE suggests they give Rebeca some time and then he will talk to her.
Rebeca tells Elena all she would do is cry because JE never wanted to share the same bed. She doesn’t know what happened to make JE turn away from her (LIAR!)
At the market, Lupe and Luis’ friends gather around them with Doris urging their support. Meanwhile, Lucas is hiding in almost plain sight as he evades Brayan and his gang.
In his completely misguided attempt to recoup “his” family, Mau accosts Fatima. She responds “hija?” (quite scathingly), and he retorts that he IS her father. Fatima asks why he abandoned them. He replies all he can do after all these years is admit his mistakes and ask for her forgiveness. Fatima demurs telling the non-sugar-coated truth, that he was never there for her or JE. He just left! He stares and nods his head.
Rebeca is getting settled in when Santiago comes in. She says they should go out and have some fun. As he smiles and they shake on it, she thinks silently to herself that she sure will take care of him!
JE calls Rebeca, wanting to talk. About what she inquires coldly. “Our divorce” is the answer as she angrily does a mini-Sergio Sendel phone toss!
As Sebas talks to Gabriela about Bruno talking off, Icky sticks his nose in offering to help (even though he’s supposed to take care of his son after school). Sebastian thanks him. Icky then calls Jimena who is unhappy but seems to acquiesce.
At the marketplace, everyone is prepared to search for Lucas. Loli fills Pedrito in, who is ready and willing to help.
Pedrito runs into Lucas and tries to talk some sense into him. Lucas insists he won’t go back home and warns Pedrito about Brayan. Pedrito takes his hand and says he knows where Lucas can hide.
Mati needs her computer to do her homework but the answer is a firm no.
Angel won’t argue about Rebeca and she will not judge her mother. She sweetly takes Elena’s hands and tells her she understands how much she wanted to find her other daughter. Elena affirms that Rebeca is pregnant with her nieto. Kindhearted Angel hugs her and Elena does tell her she is noble.
In the final scene, Rebeca enters Angel’s room and walks over to the picture of Angel and JE. Her first destructive act is to pick up the picture and smash it on the floor, shattering the glass. She turns and assaults a dresser, emptying contents on the floor. But then, her eyes alight on THE doll, the one that played a pivotal role in the day of her abduction. The one that Angel has kept in pristine condition all these years. Picking it up, she savagely rips the doll’s head off. Next, she literally tears the doll limb from limb. Finally, physically and emotionally drained, she steps back. She sees the carnage she has wrought and stares…
Diana
Diana, thank you so much for another detailed recap . I have only seen some of this episode. I hope to watch the beginning and end soon.
Yikes ...That shirt with honey honey honey honey repeated over and over was false advertising for sure . Gala ( Rebecca) must be having fun playing this over the top witch . She is doing a great job of making us love to hate her .I can't wait to see her in beast mode destroying Angel's room and the doll !!! Crazy and petty is never a good combination.
It sure seems that Angel and JE are going to meet in that apartment .
Susan
Diana, thank you for another great recap. And congratulations to you and everyone else who said it was Misael approaching Refrida. I didn't know, didn't care, wasn't surprised.
I'm not good at recognizing or keeping track of any of the actors who aren't the most important. I did not recognize Icky until he was named, but I certainly did recognize his treatment of Jimena. She did too, and I think their reconciliation will not last. And once again Icky fails to make the short list of stand-up guys in this novela.
So maybe Renato and Jimena together before the ending, but I'm really more interested in Doris and Sebastian, if that could be a thing. Much more interesting as they are definitely not the same "sort of people". I find successful odd couples to be more interesting and fun. And despite her faults, I like Doris.
I understand why Lucas fled, he's afraid, perhaps rightly, that Brayan might pay someone to have him killed in jail as happened to Ramiro.
But Lucas did make me laugh. What!? Me, a member of the Flying Monkeys gang? Never! Now excuse me while I fly out of here.
He had learned his acrobatics well, though the local police must run a really relaxed police station.
Hopefully Pedrito will help Lucas out.
So Bruno has disappeared. Probably off to a little hide-a-way that Moniquita maintains for her favorites.
I didn't know what to make of Rebeca's staring at the end of today's show.
Andy
Thanks so much SpanProf!
I'm happy I made you smile today.
"...the shadowy figure was Misael, and he wasn't even wearing a hood--it was just the effect of the darkness, and Rebeca wasn't even particularly scared to see him" was exactly right.
"I suspect that that doll Rebeca stole was probably symbolic", oh my yes...far better her ire be taken out on an inanimate object than the real thing!! Pure hatred.
Now of course the question is, how is she going to worm out of what she has done??
Diana
Thanks so much Susan!
"Crazy and petty is never a good combination" indeed!!
I'm adding "beast mode" to the long list of things I wish I'd said. You will enjoy the scene; Rebeca went crazy on it...
Diana
Why did I think the boyfriend that abandoned Rebeca in the 1st or 2nd episode was Brayan? I didn't realize she and Renato dated until these recent observations. Obviously I should go back and watch the first few episodes now I know who the characters are. Andy, I couldn't place Iker either. I also like Doris.
Andy, thank you...
"But Lucas did make me laugh. What!? Me, a member of the Flying Monkeys gang? Never! Now excuse me while I fly out of here. He had learned his acrobatics well..." was excellent.
I believe you are completely right in that whatever glue keeping Jimena and Icky together is quickly disintegrating. She is a jewel and he is a tool.
Doris does have redeeming qualities, including being staunchly loyal to her friends. While (sadly) that includes Refrida, she has been very supportive of Lupe. She may be just what Sebastian needs to have a chance at life and happiness again.
Can Misael risk Bruno singing like a canary if he is caught?
After her tirade, Rebeca's expression seemed to me to convey "what have I done". But again, I'm sure she will weasal out of it and Elena will pat her head and comfort her without even so much a slap on the wrist.
Diana
Kat, are you talking about the scene where Rebeca was dumped in the middle of nowhere by her date? If so, that was Renato. It was not gentlemanly but he knew who she was right from the start.
Diana
Thanks so much Diana, that was great. So Elena is shocked at how Cris treated Rebeca. Maybe she should sit down with Angel and ask her to share everything she knows about Rebeca.
I replayed Santiago in Rebeca’s room three times trying to figure out what she was saying to herself. Never did figure it out but your recap of that did not surprise me. She’s going to somehow hurt the only sibling glad to have her. Maybe when Elena has her two kids move out and is stuck with Rebeca she’ll wake up.
I remember Renato making Rebeca get out of the car but I can’t remember why. But I feel it must have been Rebeca’s fault.
I wondered why Romina was accusing JE. I forgot she had sent him the evidence and he never got it. Also didn’t realize Bruno was gone. I thought it was pretty obvious that he and Misael were good buddies, and the family does seem to suspect Misael but they don’t seem to realize how closely together they worked.
Who Can Rebeca blame for the destruction of Angel’s room? She almost seemed surprised by what she had done. I’m guessing David will have to come to the restaurant and will get blamed. But will anybody believe that?
Liz
Hi Liz and thank you!
I was sympathetic to Elena, and in a way still am but she has been totally unrealistic in thinking Angel can (and worse, should) accept what Rebeca has done. In real life, years of therapy might not be able to undo the damage; certainly not a hot five minutes after JE broke her heart and turned around and married her sister.
It's funny but all I can recall of that early scene was Rebeca standing outside of Renato's car, it being clear he was leaving her there.
I don't see who Rebeca could possibly blame as a scapegoat. She WAS in a haze of fury, and yes, I agree "she almost seemed surprised by what she had done".
Diana
Yes, Refrida definitely had an "uh oh" look on her face after that epic hissyfit. . I guess she could claim that Angel destroyed her own stuff to blame it on poor , innocent Rebecca.
Susan
Susan, Rebeca claiming Angel trashed her own room only to claim Rebeca did it hadn't occurred to me.
I wouldn't put it past her :(
Diana
Hola, Patio.
Diana, any chance you teach a night class on recapping or captivating storytelling?
Things we learned today:
•Misael (Sr.) is a prowler and quite possessive yet on point with his analysis of JE & Rebeca’s relationship.
•Santiago is better at baking than he is at Texas Hold ‘Em & choosing tattoos.
•One can actually acrobat (now a verb) one’s way out of jail despite being surrounded by law enforcement and Wonder Woman (Agent Corral).
•Elena is going for gold in the 2O24 Blind & Enabler Olympics.
•Rivera Cuellar, Inc. is on the brink of financial ruin.
•Rebeca’s mental illness is the worst kept secret in town. Concerned Cris detailed her wild mood swings to serially obtuse JE.
•Icky’s new mistress (which Diane just predicted) is surprisingly the empresa….for now.
•Misael Jr. (I suspect) née Pedrito becomes an accessory to Lucas.
•Time really flies when Mónica isn’t in the episode. Nobody misses Bruno.
Rebecca’s antics (compulsive lying, Barbie-cide) are entertaining while disturbing. Should she get an anvil or board-certified treatment?
Thanks so much for another entertaining recap, Diana.
I thought Mau appearing in Cristina's bedroom in his robe and jammies was him trying to get her to take him back, rather than asking her help with his children.
Speaking of Cris, I am so glad she's realized her pushing JE into marrying Rebeca was a bad move. But she is EXTREMELY focused on being a grandmother, likely caused by losing the child Dulce was carrying.
Rebeca really wants JE. Do we think she's even capable of love, or is it entirely about a victory over Angelli?
Yep, Romina did try to give JE the evidence of the embezzled $50 million. IIRC that was the night JE was at the hacienda. And Mau intercepted the "goods" on Misael, when Romina stupidly gave it to a maid or someone who opened the door to Romina.
Sigh. Rebeca wants to poison everyone's relationships. She could have just said she wanted to be with her mother. Instead she made it sound as if Cris had been cruel to her.
¿Que? Rebeca is supposedly having a "high risk" pregnancy, but she wants her much younger brother to take her to an antro (nightclub or disco) to have some fun. After he agrees she mutters something about this being a plan to harm him. Yikes.
Yep, Icky is back to his old, take Jimena for granted ways. She needs to drop what she's doing at HER job because he has a work problem. Jimena, way too nice, agrees; but, from the expression on her face, she might be rethinking taking him back. Plus, how long until the next Doris is on the horizon?
O.S., thank you so much.
Where to even start?
"Rebecca’s antics (compulsive lying, Barbie-cide) are entertaining while disturbing. Should she get an anvil or board-certified treatment?" reflected the crux of this dilemma. Both?
Impossible to pick favorites but I especially enjoyed:
"•Santiago is better at baking than he is at Texas Hold ‘Em & choosing tattoos.
•Time really flies when Mónica isn’t in the episode. Nobody misses Bruno". So clever!
JE IS "serially obtuse." That said, Cris is now aware of at least some of Rebeca's issues. She should go to Elena with her very real concerns, who desperately needs a fire lit under her.
Diana
Hi Novelera and thank you...
I also thought Mau was going to "hit" on Cris. Perhaps he was but changed his tactic when he saw her ice cold demeanor.
"Rebeca really wants JE. Do we think she's even capable of love, or is it entirely about a victory over Angelli?" is an excellent question. To be fair, there have been a few (rare) times where Rebeca's tears did seem real. Her heart is so hardened by hate, it's hard to say if she can truly love anyone. I fear she does hate Angel with a passion and will eventually want to do away with her.
Yes, I agree Jimena is having second, serious thoughts. She deserves so much better...
Diana
Thank you Diana for another fantastic recap! I watched totally distracted this morning and missed so much!!! For example, I didn't even see Lucas flip his way out of there! But thanks to you and the patio, I know exactly what I missed!
On Rebeca, I vote that she is both incapable of love AND her tears were real! :) I don't think she loves JE or anyone, I think she's come closer to having genuine feelings for Misael but hasn't crossed to love. But I also think the tears were real, genuine tears of frustration!!! Same reason she destroyed Angel's room, she's upset because she can't win! Her whole psyche is set on beating Angel and she can't do it no matter what she tries! I have personally cried out of nothing but utter frustration enough times - of course I'm usually frustration at objects, like computers that don't function properly; and not because of my inability to successfully manipulate people! hehe
Rebeca HAD to end up living in the same house as Angel, OF COURSE!!! I'm surprised it hasn't happened sooner and I'll be disappointed if Angel moves out too quickly. How do you have a good old fashion sister vs. sister throwdown novela, if they aren't living in the same house???? That said, I am TIRED of listening to Elena urge Angel to be sensitive to Rebeca's pain!!! Yay, basta!!! I have sympathy for Elena, but she's not as delusional as Rebeca, she needs to stop asking for the impossible!
What happened to Alma? Is she dead? Alive? on life support?? Did I forget? Or did the storyline just move on and forget where it left her?
IIRC Renato stranded Rebeca in the desert after making it clear to her that he wasn't going to let her use him to gain status. It doesn't make much sense now since Renato is probably higher up the social scale, but definitely not rich as far as we've seen. But what I remember is the scene left me with the impression that he was fine 'getting the milk for free' but he definitely wasn't buying the cow. Maybe I'm just harsh on Renato, he definitely looked like a jerk in that scenario. I mean it's all well and good to avoid a gold digger, but to bed her for your own fun and then dismiss her is in the realm of 'two wrongs don't make a right' in my book.
I am glad they finally said the theft is putting the business in jeopardy! It made no sense that it hasn't been a concern! Not many companies could lose $50M and have it just be a blip. It's been weird that they just keep on operating business as usual for months with no impact felt.
Darcy, thank you so much for your intuitive insight and superb analysis.
Rebeca's psyche is multifaceted and complex. She is damaged and therefore dangerous.
"How do you have a good old fashion sister vs. sister throwdown novela, if they aren't living in the same house???? " had me nodding in vigrorous agreement. Angel is proving herself to be wise and resourceful. Evil is powerful but I think Angel has the right tools to combat whatever Beca can throw her way.
And yes, Elena needs to stop asking for "the impossible"; please, get a grip and come back to reality.
Darcy, I'm so glad you brought up Alma. I kept waiting to see or hear something and when I didn't, wondered if I had missed it!! Now I think she's likely still at death's door, but it just hasn't opened. Yet.

As O.S. asked, "Diana, any chance you teach a night class on recapping or captivating storytelling?"
And on top of that Diana fields questions and comments, a real Mother Goose for this patio of varied goslings. Some of us are very Spanish proficient and add helpful notes, some of us can't remember who half the cast is or their names. Excuse me if I don't explicitly out myself as to what kind of gosling I am :-)
One of the quirks of this novela is it seems to have no compunctions about leaving us in the dark as to what happened to different characters for a while. Mauricio is run over by an automobile and the police arrive. No word on him, dead or alive, for a goodly number of episodes, and then he just casually reappears.
Alma is poisoned and lies dying on the floor. Did she die? Was she rescued? I suppose we will find out eventually...
Lots of odd little things. Sebastian is still mourning Dulce and his unborn child, but is instantly struck by the itsy bitsy, teeny weeny bit, dare I say it?, naca Doris. And invites her to a liquid lunch. Seems a bit odd, though I liked it quite a lot, it tickles my romantic funny bone.
Odd novela, but mostly fun; I do feel for poor Rebeca, nutty as a fruit cake. And I could certainly do without Brayan and his acrobatic monkeys; without Bruno; probably without a few more, but what would the novela then do with all those Acme anvils???

Vivir is on Monday but will not air next Tuesday or Wednesday.
Looneyvision strikes again.
Diana
Andy, thank you; I appreciate your kind words.
Your smart, savvy and clever insights are evident at every turn. "I do feel for poor Rebeca, nutty as a fruit cake. And I could certainly do without Brayan and his acrobatic monkeys; without Bruno; probably without a few more, but what would the novela then do with all those Acme anvils???" 😊
"No word...dead or alive" is a strange and recurring theme. What's interesting is that while we've noticed the absences, there are so many things going on, these have become sub rather than primary plotlines.
Ever since their liquid lunch, your rationale about Doris and Sebas has made perfect sense to me. Opposites attract and Sebas needs to come to life again. Doris can be charming and vivacious. Not to mention drop dead gorgeous. Perhaps she is just what he needs.
Diana
Gracias, Diana. Always a fun time with your fine storytelling.
I'm guessing Elena will buy whatever Rebeca says on why she trashed Angel's room. Honestly, even if Rebeca weren't full of jealousy and hate and homicide, a date with a psychiatrist is in order for her and Elena after the years of being lost to each other. Will the ripped-up doll trigger Elena to get counseling for Rebeca? Probably not.
I love Pedrito being the one to have a hiding place for Lucas. That sweet street kid is a survivor.
My take is Mauricio has no feelings for his kids at all. He doesn't care a twit that Rebeca is sticking it to JE. But he's got to keep up this charade of trying to reconnect with his kids in order for Cris to keep him around. I miss Don Emilio, he sees right through that crumb.
Niecie, thank you.
"...even if Rebeca weren't full of jealousy and hate and homicide"...hate and homicide are the perfect descriptor. And yes, she and Elena desperately need counseling although I don't think the decimated doll will be enough to make Elena see the obvious.
Pedrito IS the best.
Don Emilio has been quite absent...I've started wondering if the actor had been ill. I hope he returns as he is the only one with any sense.
