VIDA Ep. 53 Part 1 (not too much to snark about... 'scuse the typos)

Isa gives Paula an ultimatum--either Paula tells Pepe about her illness TODAY or Isa will! Paula agrees that Pepe deserves a relationship without lies. All Paula wants is to love Pepe and his kids...but she hasn;t found the right time to tell him (because of all the interruptions!). Isa advises that keeping secrets will end up badly...she kept a secret for several years trying to protect her children, but she only ended up hurting them more.

Rosa asks Gracia why she is now interested in that child. Gracia replies that she didn't have the courage to fight for her child back then,...but now she does.

Andi explains that she privately took the photos of herself because she wants to be a model. Rafa thinks this is WRONG and erases all the photos. He is going to file a police report so they can find the culprit!

Lucia threatens R_ata that she is going to the cops, but R_ata counters that if Lucia goes to the cops, she will upload all the other photos of Andrea...and some are even more revealing! Lucia stands her ground, but Rata smugly adds tah her family has muchos contacts so she will get out of jail quickly, but Andi...well once the photos are on the web, they are there forever! They continue their little verbal cat fight that ends with Rata demanding that Lucia end her relationship with Emi by tomorrow.

Paula calls Pepe and asks that she has something to tell him. She will message him the place where they will meet. After she hangs up, she tells Isa that she will talk to Pepe today.

Diego has run to the restaurant to tell Andi tha he already revealed to his family that he is gay...and how Emi reacted. Andi tells him about Lor being her grandfather...and the photo.

Emi rushes to get to work as Paula enters and talks to him about Diego who needs their support. She needs her kids to support each other, especially now. Emi needs to accept Diego. When Paula adds that her greatest fear to to leave her kids unprotected..Emi pleads that she stop talking like that...she is not going to die!

Gnat wants to talk to Alex about how Paula and Lor have hurt them both.She disses Paula and lies tha Paula has always treated her as a mere employee...and Paula married the man Gnat loves. Alex should know how she feels because the same thing happened to Alex. Alex comments that they are not friends...and dismisses her.

Emi arrives at work and MAL tells him to put on a vest. She salivates and licks her lips when he takes off his shirt.

Pepe arrives at the dock where Paula is waiting for him...with a basket of goodies so they can go for a boat ride.Once out in the water, Paula trembles as she starts talking to Pepe. She goes through a loooong explanation of how she thought she would never love again...until she met Pepe who gave her back the will to live. She mentions marrying Rol because she doesn't want to leave her kids alone...she doesn;t want to leave Pepe. FINALLY she tells Pepe about her tumor and the short time she has to live.

At the restaurant, Andi tells Rafa that she and Diego are no longer novios since they are cousins. Rafa tells them that he has already reported the photo to the police.

The group Emi is going to guide arrives...and Rata is part of the group. (Note: Emi is wearing his shirt under the vest....so why did they make him take off his shirt...jist to make MAL salivate????). He then goes to get Lucia so she can be with him on the first workday. As he leaves, he sees Andi's picture taped on a boulder. He grabs it and goes to show it to Lucia who, in turn, shows it to Andi. Emi then asks Lucia to join him on his tour since Rata is in the group. Lucia makes a beeline to Rata and confronts her about the photo (and Emi walks on without noticing??? Que????) Rata tells Lucia that this is war...to the death!
 

VIDA Ep. 53 Part 2

Lor suggests to Isabela that they go far away to make a life for themselves.

Back on the boat, Paula knows she should have told Pepe earlier...but she was afraid. She didn't want him to leave her, but having him close scares her because when one is told that they don't have long to live, falling in love is not the best option. She takes a deep breath as she continues to (again_ explain why she married Rol. But then Pepe appeared and everything changed...she wanted him in her life. When she cries that she doesn't want to die now that she has him, Pepe grabs and kisses her passionately. Paula loves him, but she knows how difficult her illness is and it will only get more difficult...that is why she is letting him go. Paula tells Pepe that he doesn't need to stay with an ill person...he doesn't even need to give her a reason. She turns away as she cries that she is letting him go. When she crouches in a fetal type position to cry, Pepe turns her to him and assures that he is not going to leave her alone in this...no way. He too never thought he would love again...but here she is and he is hopelessly in love with her. NOw he understands why she sometimes feels ill. If she wants to get rid of, she has a serious problem because he is not going anywhere; he will be with her...whatever comes. He then asks where she is with her illness, so she explains that she is getting the proton therapy. When she adds that she has therapy the next day, Pepe insists that he will go with her, he wants to be by her side in this.

Lucia and Rata continue their little verbal catfight FFW--

Lor continues to talk about leaving with Isabela. They should leave far away where no one will judge them. Isa can;t nelieve her life would chance in such littel time, She asks that they wait until Paula gets cured; then they can figure out if they are still in love or if they are in love with what used to be.

Now at home, Pepe has Paula in his arms as he tells her that he appreciates her honesty and asks that she let him be with her. Paula worries that as her illness progresses, it will scare Pepe, but Pepe will not be scared off. Pepe then suggests that they go to the city today and spend the night there since her appointment is so early.

Arturo joins Andi and Diego. He saw the photos and assures Andi that she will be a very good model. Andi and Diego inform Arturo that they are no longer novios. Artiro then suggests that they all make plans together.

Paula tells Rosa that she has already told Pepe about her illness, Rosa gives her Virgen de Guadalupe medallion to Paula.

After Rafa finishes playing the piano, Gnat approaches and tells him she has many plans for him.

Rol enters the Lugo home with a psychiatrist. He tells the doc that his wife has been acting very strange for several months. He thinks her tumor is affecting her mind. Paula arrives and asks who the man is. Rol quickly explains who the doc is and as that the doc is there as per the judge's orders. Paula is shocked and doesn't understand; so Rol explains that the doc is there to evaluate her mental state. He had already told Paula that he would protect their family. Paula gets agitated stating that she has NO mental problems! Rol won't allow her to make thoughtless decisions.

And there it ends!

Rgv Chick, your marvelous recap reflected all of tonight’s trials and tribulations flawlessly. I savored every single well written word.

Paula unburdening her heart to Pepe was truly touching. She conveyed her emotional turmoil, with all its pain and fragility, beautifully.

How ironic that Isa, (who has mastered the art of concealing the truth), was the one to force Paula to reveal her illness to Pepe. No matter, finally, at long last, the truth is out there. “When she cries that she doesn't want to die now that she has him, Pepe grabs and kisses her passionately” was perfect. As Pepe is a good man at heart, his reaction should not have been a surprise. Yet, as so much here has gone awry, his immediate declaration of love and steadfast support “he is not going anywhere; he will be with her...whatever comes” was a relief.

“After Rafa finishes playing the piano, Gnat approaches and tells him she has many plans for him”. Yeah, I just bet she does. Speaking of maneaters, just when you think MAL can’t get any worse, upon seeing the teenage son of her rival, she “salivates and licks her lips when he takes off his shirt.”

I’m not sure what Gnat hoped to accomplish by her talk with Alex. I’m not a huge Alex fan, but I love the way he looks at her as though she crawled out from under a microscope.

When Paula spoke to Emi about Diego, I was glad she told him he needed to support Diego, However, did she also tell him Diego is confused or did I imagine that?

R_ata’s (love it) obsession with Emi is straining all credulity at this point. Andi being attacked and threatened is loathsome. I wish Rata would just disappear…

Paula just cannot have even a few precious minutes of happiness. Rol (recoil) bringing in a psychiatrist to torment her further seems almost unbearable.

I do wonder when Paula would have told Pepe about her illness if Isabela hadn't forced her to do it. In a way it feels almost unfair that she gets to demand Paula tell the truth when she herself hid it from Alex. If in Rafa's case she might say it's to protect him, she definitely lied to Alex out of fear. I do understand her concern, but I found her a bit annoying with all her'Pepe deserves to know the truth.' After all, she herself told the truth when she felt she had no choice.
Why do I feel Lorenzo and Isabela won't leave?
Renata's voice grates on my nerves. I find it interesting she helped Emiliano because she thought he'd stay with her forever. I get it's painful, but she seems to think he is forever in her debt. It apparently doesn't matter she needed him as much ashe needed her.
Why did Nat approach Alex? I can't imagine him all of a sudden trusting her. Unless she thinks he'll side with her because of 'I know how it feels to be dumped'.'
Rafa on the other hand is again in danger.
Nat is another one whose voice I cannot stand.

Diana, I also remember wondering about that 'he is confused' bit so I think it was there. Two people can't be imagining things, not in this case at least... I was like'do you mean he is confused because he doesn't know that he really likes women and not men?'
Paula really missed a lot if she had no idea Diego is gay. I remember hearing a guy tell his mother immediately knew he 'was different' even when he was a baby. For some it does come as a shock I suppose. But Paula doesn't get it if confused is how she describes him. Diego is many things, confused isn't one of them. In fact, he is the one who from the start knew what he wanted and what was what.

Regarding “he’s confused”, I didn’t think Paula meant that Diego is confused about his preference. Emi had just questioned how Diego could bring out his “mess” now, when Paula was (dying)….and that Diego was being selfish. Paula quickly reminded him that Diego doesn’t know that she is ill, and Diego is not selfish, he is scared and confused…. So I think Paula meant that Diego is scared and confused about everything that is happening with her and the family.

More later…lots to do with the animalitos…

I agree; Diego was confused about how to tell Paula in the midst of all this craziness. Renata's threat of "a fight to the death" is disturbing. It would not surprise me if she were to try to kill Lucia because her sense of entitlement is just as bad or worse than MALena's.

Speaking of that she-devil I can think of very little being worse than a woman who demands "respect" from a daughter's boyfriend whom she later lusts after. This is the one situation I can see Lucia dumping him over. MALena's Karmageddon should include losing her beauty. She did once attempt to kill Paula and has yet to pay for that.

Here is hoping that this psychiatrist is smart enough to see through Rolando.

Rgv Chick, thank you for explaining "Paula meant that Diego is scared and confused about everything that is happening with her and the family". I was surprised at Paula's remark and definitely misinterpreted it. I'm glad this was cleared up!

I wonder when Paula is going to tell Diego the truth. I think he will have a very hard time and may well rue his rather ridid and unforgiving attitute toward Paula for not being as involved in his upbringing as he wanted.

Thank goodness Paula finally told Rafa. We knew that he was a truly good soul who will stand by Paula . I am hoping that the writers give them a HEA unlike reality .
Yes, its " The Graduate" all over again with MAL giving Emi the once over . Well, you know, her addiction , her constant excuse fur bad behavior.

Why is Gnat buzzing around Alex and Rafa ? Is Gracia her mother? Poor Gracia.

Where is Zaida ? I need her to storm in and shake things up with MAL. I'll bet she has some secrets .

So..Lot wants to run away with Isa....what about his sick daughter and her kids ?

I was never in the horrible situation Lucia might soon face. I speak of Malena, not Renata.

Whatever her backstory might be, Malena's insecurities are driving her toward proving that she is a "better woman" than every other woman in her world, including her own daughter. This is beyond despicable. I am imagining what Renata would make of that.

The Paula/Pepe boat scene was very well done. And out on the water leaves no room for interruptions. It was a relief to see Pepe take Paula's news so well, too.

Rosa's body language, when Gracia was talking about finding the daughter she gave up, was interesting. Her arms were crossed while she was standing there. That is a defensive pose, indicating someone is closed of to ... whatever. Still, it makes me wonder if Gnat is that baby.

The gratuitous shirtless Emi was just .... silly.

So, we have a PSA for teens about putting photos on the internet and social media. Yep, Andy did not make a good decision when she did that.

R-ata is dangerous. It wouldn't surprise me if she tries to kill Lucia. That girl is muy cray cray.

I hope the whole court-ordered mental eval on Paula plot goes away, and soon. Rol probably paid the guy under the table to come up with an eval that favor's Rolo.

TU VIDA #54 Part 1/1

By the end of this episode, everyone (except Diego and Susy) knows Paula is going to die of a brain tumor. Are there any secrets left, besides MAL not being preggers anymore?
Some scenes are combined, some omitted, and plz excuse the typos in this mini-recaplet.

PAULA - is incensed that Rolo is having her evaluated by a psychiatrist per court order. Rol acts all worried about her and her judgment. (yeah, like marrying you) He even has a video of some of her weird behaviors as proof, etc. etc.. She runs him and his shrink out of the house. We probably haven’t seen the last of this guy.

Next, Paula calls traitor Natalia to ask for legal help about Rolo’s latest stunt. Nat acts appalled. Paula is desperate and needs to trust Nat; have her on her side. Nat’s eyeroll is so typical. Nat says leave it all in her hands. Paula says please don’t fail me now. If only Paula knew!

NATALIA - tells Rafa all the grand plans for him at Lorenzo’s company. He says he doesn’t see himself working in an office. Nat says he needs a good lawyer (her!). She seems surprised when he tells her he’s going to marry Mal and have a baby. She gives him her number and says she expects to hear from him soon.

ANDI - has a plan to get Arturo as a boyfriend. She’s all good friends with him now and hopes to slowly show him that she’s more than a friend. Diego warns her that he is not boyfriend material; he strings too many girls along at the same time.

EMILIANO - tells Luci that his mom has a brain tumor and could die. Luci tells him it was R-ata who put the altered pics of Andi on the internet. She asks him to not confront R-ata and wants to be friends to not incite more bullying by R-ata. Emi doesn’t want to be friends with Luci. He needs her and that battles are to be fought and won. He’s going to fight for “lo nuestro.”

PaulEpe are in Mexico City for her proton treatment. I’m not sure where they are staying (the main Casa Lugo?). Pepe says he has seen mansions like this on TV but never in real life. (this place is huge, but then their vacation home isn’t too shabby either) Pepe assures Paula that everything will be okay. They exchange Te amos and go into the same bedroom where we are pretty sure they knocked boots.
The next morning at the clinic, the doctor tells Paula her treatment is delayed by three days due to mechanical problems with the radiation machine. Pepe points out the bright side --- they can celebrate Susy’s birthday.
 

TU VIDA # 54 Part 2/2

RAFA - visits Alex to talk. He apologizes to Alex for all the ugly things he said when he learned Lorenzo is his bio-dad. Alex says don’t worry and besides, he wasn’t honest with Rafa all his life. Nice convo about how Alex always loved him and please don’t leave him behind. Alex isn’t sure Malena will make Rafa happy but he’s on team Rafa, so, whatever.

NATALIA - and her fake boobs tell Rolo she’ll solve all their problems, in spite of Paula running of the psychiatrist. After rolling in the sheets, she tells him that his job is to take care of Pepe and she’ll take care of Rafa, but the problem is he’s going to marry Malena tomorrow.

ROSA - tells Gracia that she had a regularly scheduled checkup in the city and the news is bad. Her cancer is back and stronger than before. It has metastasized. Gracia promises she will fight alongside Rosa against this relapse.

RENATA - confronts Emi at his job (at Mal’s). He asks why she altered the photos of Andi. Renata plays dumb and says “what photos?” but Emi sees thru that. He reminds her how she was always there for him during his hard times, but the Renata he sees now is NOT the same person. It hurts him to see the person she has become. He loves her as a friend, but WHO ARE YOU ANYMORE??? R-ata is upset, tears, major distraught drama queen. Emi says he loves her as a friend but he is in love with Lucia, so he and Renata are OVER.

Renata’s shining moment is when she tells him he owes her his life for her standing by his side all those years. (so, clearly in her twisted mind, she earned and owns all rights to him) R-ata goes on to tell him that --- it isn’t fair that Luci benefits from all the time and work she put into Emiliano. (yikes! massive red flags here) Emi says he won’t leave Luci; he needs Luci more than ever because his mother has a brain tumor and might die. At this news, R-ata says fine, she’ll cooperate, but she will never ever stop loving him. And we probably haven’t seen the last of her shenanigans, either.

RIGOBERTO comes to visit Mal. She slaps him and is mad because Rigo‘s wife is causing problems and she even went to talk to Pepe!!! BTW, tomorrow she is going to marry Rafa. Rigo is cara impactada and asks how can she prefer Rafa to him??? Rigo is NOT taking this well and won’t leave without a hissy fit. Rigo swears that Mal won’t marry Rafa, he (Rigo) is capable of anything for her.

Rosa asked Nat to come over so they can talk. She tells Nat that her cancer came back.

ALEX visits Isabela and tells her he wants to sell the restaurant and start a new business on his own (*** I think that’s what he said)

Rolo visits Mal at her business and tells her that Paula has a brain tumor and is going to die. He says that although they couldn’t separate Pepe and Paula, that life itself will destroy this ridiculous live story of theirs. Then he asks her (*** and I’m not sure I got this translation right***) --- do you want to be with Rafa, or want to be available for Pepe when Paula checks out?

Between Rigoberto and the Mal/Rolo plan, there's probably a good chance Mal won't be marrying Rafa "tomorrow." Except Rafa *is* the heir apparent. So who knows? Stay tuned.

Before she and Pepe left, Diego gave Paula another dose of his always sour attitude. While I didn't understand exactly what he said, he left no doubt he disapproves of what Paula is doing, yet again. Loving and undaunted, Paula knocked on his door and kissed him, refusing to give into another mood of his, letting him know she loves him.

I liked Paula and Pepe's romantic scene, sweet and heartfelt.

MAL will "...take care of Rafa". No one doubts you will darling. When she was sitting and talking with Rafa, she looked so ravenous, I half expected her to pull out a knife and fork. Oh my.

Based solely on a gut feeling, I don't think it's Andi Arturo is interested in...

"Nice convo about how Alex always loved him and please don’t leave him behind". That was a heartwarming scene Doris. Alex isn't my cup of tea but he's been a good father to his boys.

As much as Rafa and MAL deserve each other, I don't think the wedding will go forward. MAL's pride may want her to make another pitch for Pepe but the lure of Lor's money will likely give her pause. There could also be a spoiler (my scenario of choice) such as Rigo showing up to ruin the wedding.

Diego had a temper tantrum over Paula going out of town. Again. (for her secret proton therapy treatment) He told her he thought she was going to start to listen to him, or STTE, and that caused his hissy fit. (it really made no sense to me)

She did say they needed to have a big talk, and I thought she would come clean. Honestly, if she would just tell him The Terrible Truth. . . . . Lather, rinse, repeat. I'm so over it.
Can you imagine how angry he will be if she dies without telling him?

I called "gaydar" on this, in my recap, a week or two ago when Arturo was introduced to the story. It's just a feeling.

Doris, thank you for another great review of all the trouble and woe. I will continue to surf in and out . I can't believe that the writers didn't think the despair in this show was dark enough and decided to bring back Rosa's illness. Uff. I think Paula will get a miracle , but Rosa won't .

Ha...watching Gnat stalking Hulking Rafa was interesting . When Rafa says he can't see himself working in an office, I snickered because we haven't seen him working ANYWHERE.

I noticed that whipped Rigo brought a bouquet to MAL ...pearls before swine ...and he dropped them on the floor as he left . I guess it may have now dawned on him as to the only part of him that MAL had any interest in .

Paula's city mansion was like a luxury hotel.

I wonder why we now have technical difficulties with the proton machine. What ??? Yikes.

The bike scene was cute. It reminded me of hub teaching our girls to ride a twowheeler .

Rata needs help. She has severe problems and evidently no family who wants to help her .

Diana, I think you are right about Arturo . Have we seen this actor before ?

I am tired of sour Diego ...and the bucket hat. Basta.

I am ready to move on from this show ...too depressing . What's coming after this show ends ?

Pepe is just a really nice guy and I wasn’t really surprised with his loving reaction to Paula’s illness.

Paula’s reaction to Rol and the psychologist bothered me. I hope the guy is honest and can read people. Rol has always made my skin crawl but I wish Paula had been calmer in her reaction. She should have calmly pointed out that they are not family, they’ve been married about a month and he became very cruel after the wedding.

Arturo looks so familiar but i looked him up and I didn’t see the two or three telenovelas he’s been in. And I have the same feeling as Diana. I think being the ladies man who goes from one girl to another is a clue. But also, in his first scene, when he watched Andi and Diego, I felt he was watching Diego. Plus, he really wants the three of them to hang out.

I wonder how the wedding will be stopped, by Mal, by Rigoberto, it will be interesting. It seems like Mal might be working with Renato on the internet pictures. Surely that would make Rafa realize how bad Mal is.

Poor Gracia, i think I’d rather not know who my daughter was than find out she’s horrible. But it should be interesting when Nat finds out.

Paula is a fool for still trusting Nat. Why hasn’t Lorenzo told her about what she did. Or her kids.

I believe the therapy has been canceled because there's been some change if Paula's tumour and so they need to adjust the machine that they use for that therapy or something similar. Keep in mind my Spanish isn't perfect so I could be wrong, but that's how I understood the explanation.
Does anyone know if this treatment is what actually helps with tumours like this?
I think Rosa's acceptance of the situation is something I can't understand. I have heard people do reach this stage, but I have no idea how.
Why would Paula still trust Nat? This, along with Pepe's trust in Malina, is one of those things where I struggle to suspend my disbelief a bit. I mean, you can be a nice person, but those two are rather naive, which after what they went through is a bit strange. Paula herself admitted she's had suspicions about Rolando and Nat so trusting her word on a matter so serious is risky.

I don't get why Diego was so upset that Paula was leaving. He did remind her that she had said she wanted to get to him better, but why does he want her to stay? So he can continue putting on that sour face, badgering and reminding her that she is a "bad mother"???

And just to clarify, the doc told Paula that there was a change in the pattern of her tumor, so that is why the recalibration is needed--to make sure they target the correct area. I'm hoping that this is a sign of a cure for Paula!! Maybe if the tumor moves, it can move to a place where they can operate and remove it???

Susan and Liz, Pedro Balda (Arturo) was in "Tierra de Esperanza". He was Rutilio's son who was an artist.

And I tend to suspend my disbelief in how trusting Paula and Pepe are of Gnat and MAL. Do these two literally have to have that knife in their backs?

Thanks Rgv Chick. I had read the titles of the things Arturo was in but none of them sounded familiar. But when I googled Tierra de Esperanza it all came back to me. I need to put my cheat sheets(of character names)in a book so I know what I’ve watched.

VIDA Ep. 55 Part 1

Very mini-recaplet tonight. Very long day! Feel free to add any details...some scenes skipped.

Rol encourages MAL to not marry Rafa since Pepe will be all alone once Paula dies. MAL agrees that this changes everything.Rol suggests that she prepare the way so that she will be there to comfort Pepe when Paula dies. He laughs when MAL reveals that the baby won;t be a problem because there is no baby. He then hints that he won;t let Rafa get any of Lor's money.

Alex is upset that Isa wants to sell the restaurant. Isa argues that this will close chapters and open new ones..he can open the music school he has always wanted.Alex refuses to make any decision; he will go get the property deeds so that their sons can also be part of whatever decision is made about THEIR restaurant. Gnat buzzes all over the place with her emotions. She cries because her mama is doing this to her again. WHen Rosa reveals that Gnat is adopted, Gnat blows up since a mere servant adopted her instead of a rich family. Then she thinks of all the money she spent on Rosa's treatment...AND THEN she cries pleading that Rosa not die. Gnat then reproaches Rosa for not taking care of herself.

R-ata is upset that Paula is going to die but this is her opportunity to get Emi back since EMi will not be able to handle Paula's illness...with her buddy's help.

Chinita flirts with Marcos and kisses him to (try to) make Gracia jealous.

Paula and Pepe arrive with all the makings for a party. They explain to Lor why Paula's therapy was postponed.

Rafa is excited about getting married while MAL thinks of Pepe...

Sourpuss D complains that he was not told about Susy's surprise party. He then wants to invite his cousin, Andi. This is a surprise to Emi, so Lor explains tha Rafa is his son. When Paula adds that now there are no more secrets, Diego reminds her that she was going to tell him something important and demands that she tell him NOW. Paula pleads that they wait until after the party; she wants Susy to have a great time...before she tells Sourpuss D and Susy this very difficult thing that she needs to tell them. After Diego storms out, Pepe worries tha Paula is not ready to tell the kids, but Paula feels pressured by DIego.

Outside Diego and Emi argue and reproach each other. Emi gives him a well deserved PUNCH after Diego says that sometimes he wishes his mother had died instead of their father!

Paula worries how Susy will react with her news. Gnat comes in crying because her mother's cancer returned and she isn't gong to win this battle. Gnat doesn't want to stay all alone.

 

VIDA Ep. 55 Part 2

Paula tries to get Gnat to go rest in her room, but Gnat has too many things to do because of what Rol has done. She tells Paula that Rol has been named temporary guardian...meaning that Rol can make (limited) decisions for Paula. If Rolando wins the legal battle, then he will have the right to make all decisions for Paula.

MAL has an idea...a risky one to stop the wedding, but needs Rol's help.

Paula tells Rosa that she will be there for her and will take care of her. They will fight together and win!

Pepe and Lor want to tear Rol into pieces, but it will only make things worse; so they will join forces to protect Paula.

The party starts and Sourpuss D makes his sour comments that he is glad Andi is there because only she supports him,..and he criticizes that NOW their om is pretending to be Super Mom.

Gnat goes to see Gracia. There's lots of mudslinging--bottomline is that Gnat wants Gracia to stay away from Rosa; and Rosa says NO WAY!

At the party, Lor welcomes Andi to the family...who adores her. He then takes Andi and Diego aside and assures them that he will help Andi find her mother.

Emi and Lucia go out and talk about Diego. Lucia urges Emi to try to support Diego. Emi tells her about his talk with R-ata.

Pepe tells Paula that he will leave with his kids so Paula can talk to her children.

Paula and EMi come out in camouflage protective gear...and the family plays together (with water guns)

An upset Alex tells Isa that the property is under Gnat's name!

Rosa reveals to Gracia tha Gnat is adopted...and Gracia is her mother!! (not really a surprise, right?)

MAL fiends concern as she tells Pepe that she found out about Paula's illness.

The water fight continues until Paula gets very tired and sits down. Once all the kids sit with her, she explains that they are dressed in fake battle gear because they are a family of soldiers....and she needs them to help her win a battle that is difficult to win. She explains that she has a tumor in her head and that there isn;tmuch the doctors can do. Susy cries as she asks id Paula is going to die

Rgv Chick, you continue to bring these (mostly) dark and murky episodes into the light with your discerning eye, omnipresent wisdom and marvelous humor.

"MAL fiends concern" was a gem...

MAL was almost giddy upon hearing about Paula's illness. Cold and callous don't begin to convey the cruelty her reaction conveyed.

Gnat being able to actually shed tears was a shock. Sitting and crying in front of the family, all eyes were sympathetically on her. I did think it strange though that when Rosa arrived, (the person who actually has cancer and is dying), no one immediately rushed forward to console her! Granted, Paula did so shortly after but...

So Gnat's duplicity with the property is finally revealed. I can't wait to find out exactly what she had Rol sign. I was so happy he was in few scenes tonight; I cannot stand the sight of him.

With his cold, dismissive stares and smirks, Diego was completely unbearable. He purports to love Susi yet he scowled through her entire party. Thank heavens he wasn't able to dampen everyone's spirits. That said, I am sure his guilt over the way he treated his mother will come back to haunt him, now that he knows the truth.

I do not think Paula should have had Suzi present when she told Diego about her illness. I would have done so in a quiet setting, gently explaining everything in terms Suzi would understand. Paula saw how Emi reacted, she should have expected that all of this would be far too much for her daughter's young mind to absorb.

"MAL has an idea...a risky one to stop the wedding, but needs Rol's help". I can hardly wait to see what happens as I sigh and shudder. 😊

Thank you for your recap, Rgv Chick! I'm on the run all day and won't have time to watch this episode, so this helps me know where we are for tonight.

Well, the writers didn't waste any time confirming our Crockpot Theory© that Nat is Gracia's daughter. Nor did they waste any time in exposing Gnat's nefarious act of recording the restaurant and lands into her own name. The good news is this way, there's time for that to get sorted out and hopefully fired from her job at Lugo industries inc. and be shown to be NOT trustworthy. Unless Alex decides to keep this a secret, and then, why would he?

The question --- Is gNatalia redeemable? We know Rolando is not. Malena is not. I think there might be hope for Gnat by the end of this show.

And finally! Diego knows about Paula's tumor. Gah...

For me, it's a telenovela beanie hat moment to believe the proton therapy machine has to be recalibrated over three days because said tumor moved or STTE. But what do I know? My beanie hat needs to be tighter. Maybe with chin strap engaged.

"I can't believe Emiliano believes talking to Renata will make her see reason."
Emi can't see the forest for the trees. We humans always hope or think there will the right phrase or words that reach someone like her so that they'll get help for themselves.

I can't stand to see Rol either..and writing about him is even worse, so I too welcome the least amount of air time for him.

I agree about MAL being all giddy. Sometimes the actress seems a bit too giddy; I'm sure she is enjoying the role.

I also agree that Paula should not have told Susy at the same time that Sourpuss D was told. But i did like the idea of dressing in "battle gear" as a precursor to the revelation.

Yes, Alex did say that he wants to start a business of his own; and Isa was the one who suggested selling the restaurant. I have no idea where Alex was planning to get the money for a new business, your idea about a loan does make sense.

Gnat was definitely all over the place! She seemed sincere when she was crying, but I have a hard time believing that she actually has a heart.

Chickie,,I am still surfing in and out of this show which is very hard for me to watch having lost several loved ones. I find myself focusing on a commercial they keep showing of a dog walker with long, flowing red hair which is the same color as the Irish setters he is walking . The song lyrics are " All the pretty girls walk like this." Oddly, it helps me shake off this study in angst and tragedy.

Wow...What is up with GNat ? She was almost human at times as she cried for Rosa , but then she was snarling and yelling at her...and then crying and hugging her. QTH ? I thought they were at Gnat's house, but then Gnat was suddenly clutching Paula and weeping about Rosa. Then Rosa was in the doorway, but nobody seemed to notice her . WTH?

There is a huge anvil hovering right above harddhearted MAL's head. I wish we had some of her backstory . Something made her this cold and calculating .

Diego is exhausting . I have had enough of his hissyfits.

Mal was gleeful when she heard Paula was going to die. Is she really that foolish that she thinks she’ll be able to get Pepe back?
I’m curious as to how she’s going to dump Rafa. How could it be risky. Also, she seems to put her trust in Rol. I thought she’d be smarter than that.

I’m really tired of Diego. He just mopes around and blames his mother and brother for everything. He’ll be wishing they were in his life if Rol gets custody of him.

I wonder if everything Nat said is true. I think she said Paula couldn’t get the annulment because they’re going to say she’s not competent.

I sure hope Alex and Isa go straight to Lor with the news about the property. And he confronts Nat. Paula needs to learn she can’t be trusted. Although she should already know this.

If they sell the restaurant they will all still live right there. That seems strange. They need to throw Mal out and Alex can have his music school there. And keep the restaurant, which seems to be their only income.

I don't see *why* Mal would dump Rafa and his future inheritance in favor of Pepe, who is of more modest means. But maybe money is not the carrot on the stick for Mal.

MAL has to know that at some point, Rafa will find out there is no baby anymore.

Liz, yes, Gnat did say that the annulment couldn’t be pursued until the judgment was made about Paula‘a mental competency.

Adding to all the comments I agree with, if Isa and Alex sell the restaurant and open a music school -- Does he even have the credentials? -- How will Pepe support his family?

Diego is being a megabrat and I give him three episodes to get over this.

Gnat might be the villana most deserving of redemption, but that isn't saying much.

Emiliano needs to wake up to Renata's crazy. I think she's past the point of no return.
