Angel / Aurora #58

The recap will be on this page as soon as finished. I want to provide as much detail as possible of the confrontation of Antonio and Pascual, which is the pivotal element of this episode.

From here it looks like I will mostly need two viewings per episode. Since I have an all-day medical appointment o Monday, can someone else take care of that episode?

Angel / Aurora #58

It looks like there is no episode today, so tomorrow will have #59. #58's recap will be up in two hours or less.

Angel/Aurora. Thanks, Urban!

El Angel de Aurora #58
Part 1 of 3

Demon was pushing his luck saying to Vicki that social classes meant nothing with regard to the soul. But he did confirm that he and Helena were together again, lying [also to himself] that she felt nothing for Angel.

Angel saw Helena on the ground floor, their social classes made obvious by their attire. He wanted to talk to her. They walked out of the building.

JC had a bad encounter with Luis, telling him he has had too much freedom. Luis said he was leaving.

Angel told Helena that Demon was paying for Vicki's treatments. Angel told her this trip was a farewell because Vicki didn't have much time. Helena was genuinely sorry to hear this. He was not sure about whether he would have a family. Anita and Rolando were watching them from the pool and they had a plan. Anita called it and Rolando pretended to be drowning. They got their attention and both Angel and Helena jumped into the pool to help. Anita then admitted this was an AI experiment as she joined Helena's and Angel's hands. Demon came out and did not like what he saw.

Luis and JC argued about Aurora, with Luis objected to her scolding of him. JC said that if that was what she did it was because he was being stubborn. In fact, he needed a good spanking! He had spent ten minutes complaining “and now you are going to listen to me.” Luis refused and took his suitcase to leave. JC took the suitcase back, telling Luis he was going to leave with it empty, then walked off with it.

Antonio found Pascual on the beach. Pascual was frightened.

JC told Luis he could not leave with anything he didn't buy with his own earned money. Luis was as entitled as it gets but JC pointed out that he earned his own fortune and that his duty had been to raise him and help. If he wanted to continue living with him he would need to obey the rules of it. He did not want him working for the Campero company for obvious reasons. No mooching off him and he pointed out that Jezabel had very expensive tastes which he (JC) refused to bankroll. [as we applaud him as though he were an opera star ending a great performance of “Di Provenza, il mar, il suol”].

Aurora looked at a framed photo of Gabriel, saying “I know you are alive, my son.”

Antonio showed the same photo to Pascual who became nervous. He finally said “It's my son.” Antonio told him this was Aurora's son. “No. This is the son of Victoria Bonilla and me. He was given to me by his grandfather. His name is Angel Santos.”

Demon went to Helena's room to ask her out for the evening. He had buried his anger so he didn't freak out when she said the kids had pranked her [except for him saying that she would not make the same mistake twice]. Briana lurked nearby and took photos of them kissing.

Pascual described the events and what was said the night Miguel handed Gabriel to him [as we see the flashback]. He explained that Miguel was a monster. “I saved the baby. I raised him. He is my son.” Antonio asked if he had worked on the Campero property and he replied in the affirmative. He described walking home from work in the wee small hours of the morning when Miguel shoved Gabriel into his arms as though he were an animal, saying “Take the brat!” He said that Gabriel wasn't a brat, just an innocent child crying because he had been ripped from his mother's arms. He described the death threat. He took the baby so that his own grandfather would not kill him. He changed the boy's name so Don Miguel would not find him. He got on his knees before Antonio and begged him not to take Angel away because this would kill Vicki before her time.

El Angel de Aurora #58
Part 2 of 3

Angel called Aurora and they talked about Vicki. Briana arrived in a sexy dress and started eavesdropping on him. He told Aurora that Helena and Demon were in the same hotel. He didn't want to go into detail about this but told her he was going to go back to university.

Pascual begged to not tell Angel and Antonio got him to stand up. He feared they would go to prison. Antonio only wanted to talk to him, to find out what happened, telling him nobody wanted to send him to prison. He said they'd go to the hotel.

Angel complimented Briana's look and a few comments later she took out her phone to show him the picture [His reaction says he did not see it all that clearly].

Demon and Helena were in the club. Dance music was playing in the background. They talked briefly about their parents, he said he felt peaceful, and they looked like the normal couple they were not.

Antonio asked for the whole story. Pascual narrated the flashback in which Gabriel calmed down when Vicki held him. [There must have been a full moon that night, as Aurora looked up in the present with the photo in hand.] Pascual explained that Vicki had recently had a miscarriage. She had so wanted the child they had lost. He then described what happened the next day when he tried to return the baby to Aurora because that was the right thing to do. He had encountered her evil sister, followed by Miguel's violent reaction, including the physical abuse – despite that he was holding Miguel's grandson – and the threat to have him arrested for kidnapping. Antonio could not believe this, saying it sounded like something out of a horror film. “How could he want to hurt one of his own blood?” “You did not know what kind of man he was,” Pascual answered. He continued, saying that Jezabel had called the police, asking for a cop named Valuelos. Pascual now feared for Angel's life if Jezabel found out he was alive. Because now Angel is a man.

“Jezabel has done bad things but she isn't a killer,” Antonio said – horrified – but Pascual replied “Jezabel didn't love her sister's son. She took her father's side or why did she not tell Aurora at that moment?” Antonio asked Pascual why he didn't call police then. He told Antonio “Think of what would have happened to my wife and me. We would have gone to prison. And Angel's destiny would have been tragic because this man would have made good on his threat. You are a good person so you don't understand rejecting your own blood because you are society's standard. No feeling, no tie –” Antonio replied that Pascual should have contacted Aurora by any means possible. Pascual said he had not because the same thing would have happened. There had been a report and he had saved the newspaper article. They had lived in fear ever since. Antonio declared that Aurora deserved to know and Angel/Gabriel deserved to know. Pascual then said “He is her blood son, but not of this.” indicating the heart. “She could not protect him from his grandfather,” “You don't know Aurora's pain,” said Antonio. “No, Señor Antonio. Who doesn't know is you because you left. You abandoned her. You want to redeem yourself with Señora Aurora without regard that this kills my Angel and I will not allow that.” Antonio's face was shocked, thoughtful, and sad all at the same time.

Angel and Briana went down to the club. When they saw Demon and Helena together Briana hid her gloat very well. They sat down and ordered drinks.

El Angel de Aurora #58
Part 3 of 3

Pascual went on about how Antonio could not have known what they went through in the barrio. Just as they had found peace Angel's destiny crossed with Helena's. He wanted Angel to have the life that his grandfather denied him. He was sure that Vicki only had two months left. He begged Antonio to say nothing until then. Give them two months and he would return Aurora's lost son to her. Antonio refused at first. Pascual asked as one father to another. He should use this time to prepare Angel for the future. He said Angel was a diamond in the rough who knew nothing of rich people's intrigues. He would need to learn this before being revealed as Aurora's son. Finally, he tearfully appealed to Antonio's better nature by saying he should not take Angel away from his dying mother. “You cannot be that cruel.”

Aurora was still at her window looking at the moon.

Aurora and Jezabel went on in their usual way. Jezabel started by saying that it was a pity that they were still fighting like this at their age. Aurora wasn't buying this, accusing her of blackmail. “First you hurt me by saying that I will never know what it is to be a mother. And then you come like this, as if nothing happened in our lives.” “You are too sensitive.” “And you pretend to accept that I take your stabs in the back with a smile. But, no. That's not going to happen.” Jezabel then said that their – her – father prepared her to confront life. To take the reins of a business dominated by men. “That has nothing to do with how you treat me and how you behave before others.” “If that has to do with it, because I live tied up in that world while you live in... let's see.” She held out her hand for the photo. “I'm trying to understand your pain. Let me see him.” Aurora reluctantly handed her the photo. She looked at the Gabriel, saying that this is what made Aurora who she is today. “You are a strong woman who caves to nobody. You have something I lost a long time ago.” [Crocodile tears.] Jezabel then said she did not want to argue, that they should keep looking to the ends of the earth if the DNA shows that the bones did not belong to Gabriel. Aurora had recently received another anonymous note saying that her son was alive and living in Mexico. As Aurora looked at it Jezabel asked herself whether whether Patricia sent it.

Antonio told Pascual that Aurora had been looking for her son all his life and it was unjust to make her wait any longer. Pascual pointed out that Angel had enemies that Vicki was dealing with. Demon – Angel's cousin – and he were in love with the same woman. “And think of who his mother is. Because of this, it needs time for you to guide him so he is ready and not lose it all before he could reunite with his mother.”

Demon suggested to Helena that they go to “a more exclusive place.” Angel went to their table. Both he and Demon asked her to dance.

Carmela had found that note in the mailbox. Aurora said they needed to look at the security footage. Jezabel tried to talk her out of this. She started to gaslight her about “crisis”, then said she would look at the security footage in the morning. She suggested that JC should help her, then said they should go up to bed and began leading the way.

Helena told Demon she didn't feel like dancing. The two roosters almost fought. Briana stepped into the middle and Helena walked away.

Luis was with Glorio when JC tried to call him. Luis blamed Aurora; JC told him he was wrong. Luis ended the call suddenly.

Jezabel tried to BS Carmela into thinking that Aurora was mentally ill without knowing it. She told Carmela that Aurora was not to know that Patricia had been there and that there was a shrink involved. She offered her vacation time.

Antonio showed the work roster to Pascual who said he knew Juventino Macias.

Angel / Aurora #58

My prediction is that Antonio agrees to Pascual's plea and will pay for that later when Aurora finds out from the wrong person.

There is also the chance that Jezabel will find out first because Pintas could demand a major amount of dinero for this information. She might try to kill Angel herself knowing that Pintas could be the sperm donor and therefore reluctant to risk the ancient gods' wrath at shedding kindred blood. Of course this leads to Novela Clliche #9 of the emergency hospital stay and either a rare blood type and/or DNA test, the latter of which could be tampered with by Jezabel and a paid accomplice.

Finally, kudos to Roberto Blandon for his performance in this episode.

Angel/Aurora. Excellent recap, Urban! Bottom line: Pascual saved Gabriel's life, and that certainly merits his not getting in trouble with the authorities. I can't believe that Antonio won't take Pascual's word about how dangerous Jezabel is--a real psychopath. She has already engineered one plot against Angel's life, and if she finds out he is Gabriel, his life will be in even more danger. Btw, Pascual understands the Mexican social system better than Antonio does. On a slightly more positive note: Aurora finally seems to be getting on to Jezabel. And thank goodness Vickie is becoming suspicious of Demian and his motives. And I wonder if Jezabel is really sick. Good luck with your medical treatment, Urban!

Angel / Aurora #58

Antonio is a man who employs blue-collar workers and treats them fairly. He has probably never dealt with anyone who did not, so he is a little naive about the kind of cold-blooded evil that is Jezabel. He had never seen the nasty side of Miguel either because Miguel was careful about keeping it hidden from everyone at his social level except his daughters.

After all these years I doubt that any but the most corrupt judges would want to throw the book at Pascual and Vicki, especially with her medical condition. Why is she not getting chemo? Antonio probably has enough influence to protect them if it comes to that. Aurora would also be forgiving since they raised her son to be a good person. She would also never want him to abandon them.

Aurora should read books about narcissism; I think Antonio has already described Jezabel as such. The mental heath community describes this as a Personality Disorder and mostly regard it as incurable. Narcissists typically resist treatment. Other narcissists in this tale are Demon, Patricia, and Briana. But Jezabel is the most malignant of the lot because she is a sadist who preys on the vulnerable. She is responsible for two suicides that we know of and I think she is looking ar Luis as her next victim.

Angel/Aurora

Thanks Urban, that was excellent! I really thought I had already commented on this, so sorry this is late. Antonio seems a little too trusting of people. Because he’s decent he thinks everyone else is. And I’m assuming the photo of the kiss was pre planed. Briana seems to think she’’ll get Angel by default. I agree with Pascual that Angel is too innocent of the world he was born into. They need to prepare him to be on guard always.

Angel / Aurora #59

I agree, Liz. Both Pascual and Antonio should work at this and that can be best accomplished if both Pascual and Angel go to work for Antonio.

Briana did plan that; remember that she is not interested in Demon for his dinero as her egg donor had wanted. This is likely to have been a collaborative effort. It has never occurred to her that Angel will never feel the same way for her as he does for Helena.

The only thing that could possibly change that would be a DNA test that says that Antonio is Angel's father which would also necessitate a paternity test on Helena and Antonio. Is Briana intelligent enough to think of this and does she have enough dinero to bribe a false result? Probably not, but Demon would probably foot that bill for his own benefit.

Angel/Aurora

I really feel Antonio is the father. I’ve always felt that because he hugged Antonio right from the start, the same way he hugged Aurora. That does mean Helena can’t be his. And maybe that’s something he’s always known. He has to realize there’s a good chance he’s Gabriel’s father, and now that he knows it’s Angel he doesn’t seem too worried that Helena could go back to Angel. Or that they were in love.
Liz

Angel / Aurora #59

That would mean that Helena is an affair child or she is adopted. The writers left that open: We know nothing about Antonio's 2nd wife. Only that she died when Helena was about 10 years old.

Angel/Aurora
Helena could have been very young when Antonio married her mother. I don’t like to think his wife had an affair and Helena is the result of that affair. Or it could be that I find Pintas really creepy and hate to think Angel carries his genes! Antonio is a good father to Briana so I don’t think he feels only a biological child will do. Guess we’ll find out some day!

Angel / Aurora #59

Antonio is more than capable of loving an adopted child, a step child, or one switched at birth. While I am not a person who believes there is any connection between genes and personality I have to think that Antonio is Angel's biological father. However I have seen enough novelas to remember that writers will defy logic if the ratings demand it.

El Angel de Aurora #59
Part 1 of 3

Pascual ID'd Juventino Macias as a former co-worker. Antonio pressed for an address. Pascual said he had not seen him in a while and did not know. It had been a long time since they had worked together and Juventino was an alcoholic. Antonio said that he had been in Don Miguel's house the night before Aurora was attacked and that another worker recalled seeing him near the house in progress, Pascual had difficulty seeing him as a rapist. Finally, Pascual asked again for the two months of silence.

Aurora picked up the pieces of the anonymous note from the floor.

Antonio met Angel on the ground floor and hugged him.

Aurora told Esperanza she and JC had gotten married. Esperanza was happy for them and the hope that she would soon find her son. Aurora told JC about the note and that she would trust Elvia with the ongoing investigation.

Antonio told Angel it was important to prepare for the future. He was glad that Angel went back to college. He assured him that he had not interfered in Helena's love life. He commented on how he looked like his mother, which confused him.

Aurora told JC they needed to check security cameras near the house and ask police about the nearest street ones.

Helena and Demon were on the boat again. She agreed to marry him and he put the ring back on her finger. However, she did not look happy.

Patricia talked to two men who looked like gangsters. They were being hired to hurt a couple whom she was accusing of destroying her family. She virtually threw money at them and said they were to frighten the wife... by raping her. The bearded man's grin was disturbing. [Patricia now deserves the same fate that Jezabel does].

Esperanza was leaving and JC mentioned the difficulties with Luis. She advised him to let Luis have his wings.

The Santos family arrived home. Vicki said she will be seeing the doctor the next day. There was a small argument when Anita accused her father for eyeing a gringa on the beach. They had not talked on the return trip. Pascual then began assuring Vicki that he loved her and he would not trade their humble home for a palace.

El Angel de Aurora #59
Part 2 of 3

Jezabel and Patricia poured red wine and mmade a joke about them being brujas. Patricia commented that “Your Biblical name means something else.” [Aha!] She asked why that name and Jezabel replied that she has never said stupid things ever since she was a child. She then showed Patricia the pieces of the note, adding that the security cameras on the house did not capture the mailbox. She watched Patricia carefully as she looked at the pieces. Patricia looked like she was getting nervous.

Angel said that he would see Antonio the next day. He described the encounter with Antonio in the lobby and that he was invited to a convention. Pascual got nervous again. Angel pretended not to care about Helena, but Anita wasn't fooled. Pascual lied when Vicki asked whether he saw Antonio.

Next Morning

Antonio went to the Campero mansion with the intention of seeing Aurora who had left early for work. He ended up talking to Jezabel instead. As he approached the library he overheard the tail end of her phone conversation with Pintas, which “Well, kill him now so he doesn't escape again.”
After thanking the office staff for their kind words about Fabrizio Demon announced that he and Helena were to marry. Briana stood near Angel, rolling her eyes.

Jezabel gave an excuse over the fatal verb as she put her burner phone into her purse. Antonio asked her and she answered that if he had left her at the altar she would have killed him. She laughed, then said if Demon, her company, or herself were in danger she would be capable of killing. He noticed she did not mention Aurora, and she said she would not have to, as Aurora has two suitors willing to do so. She touched him in a flirtatious way and commented on how he should feel about Angel ditching Helena, saying she could kill him for that, then laughed and said she was kidding. She led him out of the library and suggested they have breakfast. He was scrutinizing her face through this entire scene.

Elvia came to Aurora about the DNA test on the bones. JC logged into the computer and found the negative result. Aurora was relieved.

Everyone in the office congratulated Demon. Glorio said they wanted to say a mass for Fabrizio; Demon thanked him. Briana played the dutiful sister.

Aurora thanked Elvia. JC said they should keep her on the case to find Gabriel. She was certain that Gabriel was in the city.

El Angel de Aurora #59
Part 3 of 3

Antonio told Jezabel that murder is no laughing matter. It felt like Jezabel was coming on to him, implying they would make a great couple and that he had the hots for her... which he did not like. He got up to leave but in her often roundabout way she told him that Aurora and JC were married.

Angel and Aquiles talked about Acapulco. Angel told him that he knew Helena did not love Demon. Aquiles reminded him that he sacrificed Helena's love for Vicki's health and he had to see it through.

Elvia took leave of Aurora, saying she would talk to Antonio about investigating the workers named Juventino. Aurora's hope was the best outcome of this so far.

Demon had made the announcement without discussing it first with Helena. She was not happy with this. MORE There was no passion in the next kiss.

Jezabel tried gaslighting Antonio about him needing a shrink because of Aurora and JC. He told her he wanted to know about that night. “Where were you when Miguel took Gabriel?” She said she was with Aurora. She asked him if he sent the latest anonymous note and said he spoke of Gabriel as if he were alive. “Do you know that he is alive?” Ha answered that he did not know, only that he felt it. He left/ [Methinks he is finally seeing through her].

JC approached Edgar to tell him off about making fun of Luis. Edgar said it was not his fault if Jezabel liked young guys... and that Luis was no competition for him. He went on about Luis taking advantage of his father's willingness to protect him. He got a little too cocky for his own good.

Rolando and Mario sat down to eat.

Briana showed the photo to Demon, who was pleased. He teased her about the naco. She told him that Angel had changed her life and asked him to leave them alone. He gave her a mocking round of applause and suggested she leave the company.

Elvia came to see Antonio but Aurora overheard them talking about Juventino.

Angel and Helena ran into each other at the office. He told her he knew she did not love Demon. She froze up, finally saying he was a mistake in her life and she was moving on.

Angel/Aurora. Another excellent recap, Urban! Of course Pascual left out the crucial detail that Juventino is Pintas. At least he now knows pretty definitely that Angel is the kidnapped baby Gabriel. And Antonio is starting to "tutor" Angel a bit to help him fit in a little better to the upper middle class--kind of an interesting social commentary. At least Aurora can be pretty sure that Angel is not dead and that the first detective's report was a fraud. Still, it seems as if a lot of time will pass before everyone knows Angel's true identity.
