FUGITIVAS #80 Part 1

Gran Final

Freedom’s just another word for nothin’ left to lose – Kris Kristofferson

PREVIOUSLY: Arturo marches Lorena and Gabriela outside, furtively attempting to hide the gun in his hand. Lisset watches them from the car realizing the women are being abducted. Rather than calling Alejandro (unfathomable), Lisset calls Erick. Erick gives Dario a phone (is HE calling Alejandro??) Lisset take off in hot pursuit after the car, trying to maintain sufficient distance, but unfortunately Arturo does see her. Livid, he mutters “maldita”, pointing his gun even closer to Lorena’s side. He floors the car but comes to a red light and is forced to stop. Lisset stares ahead grimly, clenching her fists even tighter on the steering wheel, and guns it, hitting the brakes mere seconds before crashing into the back of Arturo’s car. His windshield shattering upon impact, Arturo lies slumped behind the steering wheel.

The crashed cars are literally smoking due to the impact. As Arturo seems to be blacked out, Lorena grabs the gun and unties Gabriela. All of a sudden, Arturo is right there, animated and angry. He grabs Lisset who tells Lorena to run which they do. Lisset tells the approaching police who she is, holding her hands up in a gesture of surrender. Lorena and Gabriela are running down the street when Lorena stops, wanting to go back. Gabriela conveys the folly of this decision and they continue their escape.

Lisset tells the police it was an accident which Arturo backs up. The police take Lisset away when Erick runs up frantic, stroking her cheek with his finger, completely distraught. Lisset stares at him from the back of the car as it pulls out.

FINALLY Erick calls Alejandro and tells him what’s occurred. Where is Lorena he asks, I don’t know is Erick’s honest answer.

Amanda tells Patricio that Lisset has been captured. And Lorena he queries? No.

Frida, Dario and Matias eat as Frida frets. The doorbell rings and Lorena and Gabriela rush in, Gabriela relates what happened. And what happened to Lisset? I don’t know. The doorbell (seemingly always) rings twice. Alejandro enters and makes a beeline for Lorena, hugging her tightly.

“Lisset” Patricio addresses her in the interrogation room. All of a sudden, Nico walks in, rudely flapping his hand, motioning for Patricio to get up and give him his seat as Amanda glares. He opens her folder and mentions Lisset’s past indiscretions and that she was turned in by her mother. Then he asks where Lorena is. ”Contesta” he roars. She scathingly mocks him, obviously unafraid. Then, he throws a cup of hot coffee at her! Patricio angrily interjects and Lisset sort of laughs. Nico starts berating Patricio pulling rank saying he is his superior. Patricio counters stating Nico’s unprofessional behavior. Later, Amanda, Nico and Patricio reenter the interrogation room. Where is Lorena he repeats but she isn’t talking. He slams the table as Lisset smirks.

A dazed Erick returns as everyone approaches him, asking where Lisset is. With the police he admits. Matias collapses in his father’s arms and Lorena kisses Gabriela’s head. “Mi princesa” Erick cries as Lorena embraces him in a hug.

Arturo is late getting home where Florencia and Vincente await him. Vincente brings up Alejandro but Arturo dismisses him angrily. He wants to meet with Florencia alone. As Vincente eavesdrops, he tells her what happened as she starts crying. We see a flashback as Florencia admits she was the one who killed Juan Pablo! She came upon him strangling her father and in order to stop him, took a hammer and hit him in the head. We see Arturo pulling her away. However, we next see Juan Pablo is not dead. Yet. He struggles to get up and walks over a small stone bridge over a shallow small pond but then collapses and falls in, face in the water. Realizing Lorena has been railroaded, Vincente denounces her. Florencia screams that he leave her alone as Arturo pushes her out the door.

FUGITIVAS #80 Part 2

Ismael confronts Nico when he sees that he doesn't want to honor the deal he offered to the fugitives and assures him that it cannot be modified since there is a verdict involved and explains that now he will be in Lorena’s corner.

Alejandro and Gabriela talk, he offers to take her home. Vincente shows up and tells them the Reader’s Digest version.

Lisset is put in jail and ends up in Montse’s cell. The girls hug.

At the police station, Vincente told what he knows. Alejandro calls Lorena with the revelation that it was Florencia who killed Juan Pablo. She is incredulous as everyone there with her stares.

Vincente asks for Gabriela’s forgiveness; she does just that, understanding how difficult it is for him to go against his family. Alejandro thanks him and shakes his hand.

Alejandro sends Ismael a text that Florencia killed Juan Pablo. Ismael grabs his keys and heads out.

Dario and Lisset kiss outside the police station as she and Lorena head inside. The man they speak to at the desk stands up and looks after them. Thinking they are entering Ismael’s office; they are shocked to see Nico. “Lorena Martínez and Frida Segovia” Nico mutters. Alejandro then introduces himself as their lawyer. Ismael comes in and Nico asks him why he is there, ordering that he leave. Ismael seems to tell him off but I can’t relate what was said.

Arturo is putting Florencia’s suitcase in the car when the police roar up, lights flashing. The police train their guns on them as they are handcuffed and arrested.

Erick and Matias update a startled Marta on everything that occurred.

Arturo tells Florencia something in a clenched tone; something about her child who will be born in jail. She looks scared.

Lorena and Alejandro are in the interrogation room as Nico conducts the interview. He doesn’t seem to believe it and leaves. Patricio on the other hand treats her civilly as she smiles.

Florencia is giving her statement to a rather impassive officer. She seems to try and justify her actions saying, “it was mi papa”. “Lo siento” she later says and receives the first look the officer has given her. She also says something about Vincente I couldn’t interpret.

FUGITIVAS #80 Part 3

Ismael visits Lorena in her cell saying Florencia is the murderer. He asks her forgiveness and she says it’s not important. He tells her how much she means to him; her look reflects a tinge of regret but the exact words eluded me.

Lorena walks into Montse and Lisset’s cell with Frida. They briefly embrace and the girls are shocked when Lorena imparts her news. The four fugitivas hug as Lorena thanks her hermanas. They put out their hands one on top of the next.

Vero is rather shellshocked as she watches the news revealing that Florencia is Juan Pablo’s murderer. Ahh, and Arturo is also sentenced to 30 years in prison. Nico is also in trouble although I’m not sure on what charge.
Florencia calls an unshaven and seemingly unemployed Nico in tears, hand on her very pregnant stomach. She asks him to forgive her; she begs him saying she was confused! “You are a murderer” he states, don’t bother me and hangs up. She cries as it is clear he has hung up on her.

We see Lorena being released as she rushes into Alejandro’s waiting arms as he spins her around. Gabriela and Vincente are there too as she joyously hugs her sister. Vincente apologizes and she thanks him for taking care of her Gabriela. “I am free” she screams as they walk off.

At Oasis a celebratory banner is being hung. All of a sudden, we hear a melodious baritone accompanied by Patricio’s handsome visage. It appears all is forgiven and just as Marta and Patricio are about to kiss, Lisset and Dario enter, Lisset looking better. She thanks Patricio and he wishes her the best. All of a sudden, Lorena and Alejandro appear (it seems Montse was already there).

“Mi amor” Amanda says as she hands Ismael an ice cream. Sweets and sweet kisses as she strokes his back. They are clearly in love.

Frida tells Dario she has never been so happy; she is free! He gives her plane tickets and her face is glowing with happiness as she says, “gracias mi amor, te amo”.

Lisset is released and runs into Erick’s arms, picking her up, spinning her around. “Mi princesa” he says as they passionately kiss. We see the rest of the gang there, Montse as well although we didn’t see her release.

We have now fast forwarded. Montse seems to have a new man although I could not tell what her new career was. Lisett and Erick have opened a pizzeria. Lorena has become a pharmaceutical chemist!

FUGITIVAS #80 Part 4 of 4

There is a celebratory picnic with Lorena and Alejandro, Marta and Patricio, Montse and her man, Matias, Frida and Dario. Everyone looks gloriously happy! And the biggest news is that Frida is pregnant!

In the last scene of the evening, we see Lorena, Lisset and Montse on a grassy green hilltop with a sweet young girl holding a single daisy. We immediately realize that we are seeing Frida’s daughter who has left this world and journeyed onto the next; much loved and much missed.

As FIN appears, the curtain closes on this touching and bittersweet ending.

I thought this was an excellent novela. I was delighted that Marta and Patricio ended up together. It appears a happy ending was had by all except for the undeserving Florencia, Nico, Arturo and Vero.

I know I missed a few things this evening but hopefully nothing earthshattering. Kindly add to and/or correct anything I did not get right.

First and foremost, thank you Jarifa for your very generous and gracious time. Your laser sharp insight and superb wisdom shone a bright light on so much shrouded in mystery. I could not have done this without your marvelous “extras” that illuminated and explained so very much.

Thank you Kat for your witty comments which were greatly appreciated. Susan and waterlily, thank you for your kind comments. A small but stalwart, supportive patio.

Las Hijas #6 part 1

Luis tearfully wanders around his wife's art studio. Gloria brings him a coffee. He asks about Ofilia, she wonders is there a problem with her. He says no. She tells him O is a neighbor of her cousin and came highly recommended. She's a widow and needs work. Luis asks about her trip, she doesn't feel this is the right time, she should be with the family. Luis thanks her for helping them but her family needs her. If there is anything he has learned in the past few days, it's being close to your family.

O refuses to val about her success at the big house. Val reminisces about her father, he would read Mar bedtime stories, he would help them(?) with math homework He dreamed of her becoming a Doctor, while the only thing O was concerned about was beauty and money. O tells Val she didn't see things that way. Val says of course not. Then O says you see things just like your mediocre father. Val yells , don't talk about him like that. You killed him.

Nick comforts Luis. Luis is worried about Arturo and his drinking, etc.. Nick will always look out for Arturo, with his own life if need be.

Val rants about how her mother's ambition and need of money killed papa. O says this place, with the humid walls ( black mold probably) was the death of him. I wanted money to get out of this awful place. Val isn't buying any of it and continues to blame O. ( I've had enough of Val's histrionics already).

Luis and Nick talk some more, then Graciela enters. She will spend time with Luis, they send Nico off to bed. She asks how he is doing, badly. Cecilia was so much closer to the children than him. He says I saw Rocio. What was she doing there. Cecilia says it happened long ago. There is no point speaking of her.
Next day...in the barrio the local women gossip about all the yelling coming from the Garcia place. One of them is friendly to Val who overhears their discourse. not sure who she is. The dark haired lady kissed her on the cheek, Val heads off. Lady calls the others old gossips and huffs away.

Arturo is passed out in the drivers seat of his car outside the mansion gates. Paparazzi click away. Nico chases them off and wakes Arturo. Arturo says this house has no meaning for me any longer. The only thing beautiful about it was our mother. Nico encourages him to go eat breakfast, but Arturo gets back in his car and drives off.

Mar is sleeping through her alarm. O goes in her room and wakes her up. Mar rushes to the bathroom to get ready. O goes to the girls vanity, brushes some makeup on her cheeks and opens a drawer and finds a large denomination bill in it ( Val's payoff by Nico). And pockets it for herself.

Luis tells his dad he found Arturo, he slept in his car all night, he left again. Luis feels guilty for putting Nick in such a tenuous position with his siblings. Nick leaves. Graciela enters and tells Luis he is a great son. Luis agrees.

FUGITIVAS

Thank you, Diana, not just for this recap but also for all the other ones you consistently wrote that kept us going.

An extra tidbit:
Nico ended up being fired for abuse of power. (Yay! )

It was a very fulfilling and enjoyable ending. I loved Flo trying to throw her daddy under the bus for JP’s murder. That was rich! We did get Patricio and Marta together, too.

Las hijas #6 part 2

Back at the gym. Val is leading a class, Arturo is running on the treadmill. One of the class attendees, or perhaps another trainer, says she is happy Val is back. She talks about Arturo and how hard it must be to lose a mother.

Juan is outside the Garcia abode, looks like he is texting Mar. O sees him through the window and chases after him as he tries to evade her. He says Mar and he are in love. She asks what will that love get you. He says it's not all about money, she retorts it's also not about dying of hunger. The gossips gaze from behind them . Juan wonders why she hates him so much. I don't hate you, you mean nothing to me. You should thank me for getting you the job at the Portillo estate. I put your name forward to have better relations with each other. O is not grateful. She shoos him off .

At the gym val and her coworker continue to talk about Arturo the exercise fanatic. Priscilla chases him down. He has been ignoring her calls she wants to talk with him about his pain and console him he insults her, think he said he wants her help by being miles away from him. She storms off.

Gloria has her bag packed and is giving O instructions and tells her where her uniform is . Why is your daughter here again? Mar smiles sweetly but keeps silent. O says she is a good worker. Gloria says well keep her in the kitchen and nowhere else in the house. The master doesn't like strangers about. Gloria leaves. Mute Mar says I think I should return home. No way we have a lot to learn about this place. Welcome home daughter.

Paula is writing a shopping list assuming the role of matron of the house. Graciela tears the page from her notebook and says nothing is changing, it will be done as Cecilia did it. Graciela puts Paula in her place.

Ofelia is wearing the uniform, Mar, as a tagalong is not. They are making a bed and raving about the sheets etc. Ofelia sits at the vanity and helps herself to some anti wrinkle cream ( which was likely left open. This is either Paula or Graciela's room). Mar helps herself to some lotion and smells the perfume. Ofelia tells her to use it. ( So this was Cecilia's stuff). O says the dead don't need perfume. Ofilia is off to clean the sala, she tells Mar to find Arturo and see if he needs anything. Mar spritzes her wrist with the perfume and a maid comes in looking for her help. Mar pockets the perfume as she had no way to put it back without being seen.

Gloria knocks on Juan's door. Are you sure you know this Ofelia well? I have my doubts about her. Juan reassures her she and her daughters are good people. Gloria is reassured and leaves asking him to have his mom call her when she returns from caring for his sick grandparent .

FUGITVAS

Thank you Jarifa!

Seeing Nico so unkempt should have made me realize he'd been fired!

I hadn't realized Florencia tried to point the finger at Arturo. Both are ruthless; like father, like daughter.

I enjoyed the glimpse into the future as we were given a good sense of where everyone ended up. A satisfying ending.

Diana

Las hijas #6 part 3

Priscilla is now at the Portillo estate. Luis tells her Arturo isn't there. She knows she wants to comfort him but he won't let her close. She has loved him for years. I can help him. Luis says he needs space to cope with his grief. She says he is the love of her life. Luis tells her you can't force love, (i.e. Arturo doesn't share your feelings). She insists they are destined to be together. She hugs him and Cami enters looking at her a bit suspiciously. Ah, she is crying, not hitting on papa...Cami invites her up to her room to talk.

Mar is washing dishes. O comes in angry that she isn't casing the joint (looking for a husband). Sweet Mar says the maid set her to this job. O says they don't give you orders, they are just employees. Mar correctly points out so are we. Lady O thinks otherwise. When the maids enter she pulls rank, telling them they don't tell her daughter what to do. (I'm not sure Mar technically works there as she is helping mom and not wearing a uniform, so in a way O has a point.). She threatens them with dire consequences if they cross her and whisks Mar out of the kitchen.

Luis drives out the gate and pulls up short. Rocio is hiding outside the gates. What are you doing here? I'm sorry about Cecilia. I want to see my son. He brushes her, I don't know what you are talking about. Stay away from here, and for your good you better not return.

Camila is complaining to Priscilla, she so angry. The last time she spoke with her mother they fought, it's all awful Paula's fault. I hate her. Priscilla can't believe Leo married her, a lingerie model of all things! Cami says things are going to change, a lot. ( Another candidate for duena de la casa?)

Rocio tells senor Portillo she has nothing to lose. ( Does this mean he is not the father or is she just insulting him? One can speculate that the child is a nephew perhaps, did Luis or Cecilia have a brother that fathered the child with Rocio). So Rocio says Cecelia searched for her. Ofelia is taking out the trash and witnesses their exchange. Luis tells her this is neither the time nor place for this discussion. Rocio gives him her address. He tells her to quit looking for him or coming to his house. He returns to his car and drops the address on the ground.

Priscilla has a plan to show Leo who his wife is truly is. Cami doubts that will work. Back to Arturo, Cami tells her the more you pursue him the further he wants to run. But I love him, I don't want to lose him. Cami says, give him space. Slowly he will come back to you. P, But what if he doesn't?

Las hijas #6 part 4

A distraught Rocio stumbles to the concrete border ( drawing a blank on what to call this) of the drive and sits down. Ofelia rushes out to see if she is ok. No I'm not. I'm alone. Only one person could (can) help me. Not sure if she is referring to Cecilia or Luis. I'm not great on tenses yet. Rocio walks away, Ofelia says to herself, who are you. Then picks up the post it note with her direccion. ( I couldn't read it).

Cami comes downstairs. Graciela asks how are you? Bad..I should note everyone is still wearing black. Is it a thing in Mexico to keep wearing black for a period of time? I know at least one day has passed since the funeral. Graciela tells her things change. With your mother gone it's time for you to assume her responsibilities. Cami doesn't want things to change ( so I guess she wasn't thinking about ousting Paula from the position she aspires to). By the way where is Gloria. That's her job. Graciela says she isn't part of the family. She needs a guide to supervise how things are supposed to be done. Your father and brothers work at the business, you don't want to work there, so it is your responsibility to run the house ( just what any 20 done year old wants to do). Auntie, I don't want to take my mother's place. She ran this house perfectly, (wah, wah. I'm not belittling her pain, just describing the action,).

Mar carries a cup of tea, or coffee in a hallway ( probably searching for Arturo per moms orders) when Paula wearing a black outfit which shows how she became a lingerie model, opens the door and collides with her spilling the drink down her cleavage. The harpy yells at mar. Leo on her heels says it was an accident. Mar picks up the cup and scurries away, (not in the direction from which she came.). Paula knows her face. Aha, she was one of your brother's model finalists....what is she doing cleaning the house.

Graciela spells out what will happen if Cami does not assume control of the house Paula will...

Conversation between Leo and Paula. She complains he promises to make his siblings respect her..FF

Marvis crying in the kitchen. She wants out of this house. Mom comes in, you aren't here to work you are here to see what this world has to offer. Mar says she hates me, she treated me something awful. Who? The wife of the eldest son. Ofelia says you can leave after you have passed this course. You will laugh about it some day. She encourages Mae to persevere. We are strong.

Luis returns home. Graciela enters his office, he has her close the door. Rocio was here. Cecilia has her come. She is going to discover the secret I've guarded all my life.

Fin.

Fugitivas
A very satisfying ending. Arturo tried to get Flor to somehow discredit Vincente, they needed to tell the same thing. She didn't...I never saw Montse released either. How coincidental that all 4 bunks in the same cell were waiting for them in jail. Honestly, none of them had a long sentence except for Lorena. Finishing their sentence and moving on ( with half the bounty Arturo paid out) made a lot of sense.

Montse opened a beauty shop. I could see that.

The only unresolved issue was Florencia's baby. It would be Vicente's niece or nephew. I expected him to end up being it's guardian. I would think he and Gabriela would have taken over the company, but it was never his calling.

La hijas

Kat, thank you for your recap, it was a great read with my morning coffee. I can take over for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
If anyone else would like to recap, speak now or forever hold your peace - nah, jump in any time you want, the more, the merry :)

Valeria is so adamant about how great her father was, I'm starting to think the guy must have had some major flaws. Time will tell...

I'm starting to think that Nick is such a hothead sometimes because he has to keep it together for the crazies in his house and lashes out at other people. That's not an excuse for how he behaved with Val, but it is common for people who have a lot of pressure in certain areas of their lives, to be unable to keep it together for the rest.
Could Graciela telling Luis that Nick is a great son be a clue that he's really not a "blood" son?
From the interaction between Rocio and Luis, I gather that he is not the bio dad of the secret son, too. They didn't interact like people who used to sleep together.

Of course that Priscilla is the crazy ex who is capable to humiliate herself for the likes of Arturo, who is no prize!!

Mourning clothes (wearing black) can last up to a year (or even more) in some countries. Especially widows are known to wear black or darker colors for a very long time after the death of a husband. (yeah, queen Victoria was quite the trendsetter).

So the contest for "The next lady of the manor" has started. My money is on Ofelia, who is not even in the running (as far as they know). And it's obvious that she will be pushing Mar towards Arturo, which will only make things worse with Val, who already has a crush on him.

Las Hijas
Adriana, I thought the same thing about Nick possibly being the adopted one. I'm ready for that actor to be a smart protagonist. My first show I saw with him was Vivir de Amor and he was a typical dumb galan half the series.

My brain block on what to call the concrete outside the gates came to me as I was driving to my daughter's house to babysit. It's a low 'wall' flanking the drive. If anyone has a better name for it chime in because I'm sure there is one and all the Spanish vocab I have learned in the past 2 years has pushed it into the netherworld.

Diana I am looking for your take on the wardrobe. Fugitivas didn't give you any scope to mention clothes much. Cecelia wearing a white man's tie. Mar really not dressed for maid service, but pretty as a picture, and of course the shockingly black bodysuit of sorts of Paula.... Ofelia looked quite frumpy in her maid uniform. If she is going to catch Luis eye it will be for her personality and common experience of widow/widower hood.

LAS HIJAS

Kat, you've outdone yourself. This was sensational.

So many wonderful lines but my favorite was "Mar is washing dishes. O comes in angry that she isn't casing the joint (looking for a husband)". Perfect!!

Adriana, I don't think there was any "relationship" between Rocio and Luis either. An abandoned child? Far too early to tell.

Kat, I really appreciate all of your details as finishing the recap for Fugitivas took my full attention last night. I saw little but did see "the shockingly black bodysuit of sorts of Paula". She looked amazing!!! Agree that Ofelia's uni was not figure flattering. Wowza...I'm sorry to have missed Cecelia's tie but look forward to seeing some interesting fashions going forward.

I was surprised that Val was so forceful (and frankly a bit vicious) in her accusation that Ofelia killed her father. Not physically I'm sure but there is much darkness and pain there.

Diana

Gracias, Kat. Very clear and thorough.

Graciela is a voice of reason in the midst of insanity and should take over as mistress of the house. Camila needs to grow up first. At least she has Paula's number, so she might be useful to wake Leonardo up to the reality that he is only a means to an end for Paula.

Priscila is just pathetic. A spoiled little rich girl with a one-track mind. Arturo will never love her after all this time. As for who will be good for him, I think it's Valeria. She is a real person with a brain, principles, and enough of her own pain to understand his. This will take some time and she will need to cool off.

For Ofelia and Mar to dig into Cecelia's vanity is not a smart move and it will backfire on them.

So, who is Rocio's son and how long will it take for that reveal?

FUGITIVAS

Kat, thanks for noting Montse opened a beauty shop. I was furiously typing and saw her but didn't catch the background.

At least Florencia didn't try and bring Vincente down with her; Arturo's wanting to do so was despicable.

Florencia's baby was one (if perhaps only) dangling plotline. I hope she did end up with Vincente and Gabriela; it would have been reassuring.

A great finale overall.

Diana

Las Hijas
Thanks Kat, that was great. Oralia is so obnoxious. She can’t even be nice to Juan, who got her the job. And she acts like she’s so much better than the rest of the help. Then she takes her daughter’s money. And going through Cecilia’s makeup. I thought Mar had just taken the perfume, so was relieved to hear she kind of had to slip it in her pocket. I hope no one notices she smells like Cecilia!
To me, Mar just has no personality. And she’s not any prettier than others on the show. I don’t see her catching Arturo’s eye. I did feel sorry for her when Paula went berserk on her. And she probably is not happy doing her mother’s bidding.
I wonder why Juan lied to his aunt about Ofelia. I guess once you recommend someone you can’t backtrack!
Liz

Fugitivas

Dear Diana, wow you are a warrior . You faithfully recapped every single episode, a Herculean feat!! I appreciate you talent, time, and effort so much !! Jarifa and Kat, thank you for the extras . These recaps were fun times in my day . I looked forward to them every day . This show was unique , and it gave us some good characters as well as villains to jeer at !!

I was a little confused . I always thought that Flor was somehow involved with JP's death , but I never figured that she hit him to stop him from choking her farher. She could have turned herself in and explained that , but I suppose Art told her not to because he killed JP's father. I am surprised that Nick wasn't involved in killing JP because he seemed to be Art's minion. Guess he was just a horndog.

Also, I guess the maid wasn't JP's mother as I thought at one time . I guess she just liked him ...for some reason. Anyway, it was a fun ride. Susan

Fugitivas,

Susan, yes I was surprised Flor didn't turn herself in either. A good lawyer I'm sure would have helped her have a light sentence. I would have assumed the autopsy would have discovered he actually died by drowning and not the blow to his head. An argument could have been made that Flor and Arturo tossed him in the pond, but no way she could get him there on her own. Shockingly she was sentenced to 45 years, Arturo only 30. Dad was worse than daughter, imo. Especially when he chose Lorena as the scapegoat.

FUGITIVAS

Susan, thank you for your always kind, supportive words. You always make the recappers feel so valued and appreciated. I look forward to us watching many more TNs together.

Yes, I remember you did think Florencia was involved in JP's murder all along and you were certainly right although we certainly "...never figured that she hit him to stop him from choking her father"!! That was indeed shocking.

I also thought Charo was JP's mother, aunt, someone! But I guess not.

Diana

Fugitivas
Kat, yes. I suppose Arturo didn't want Flor to turn herself in because he actually killed JP's father, and he didn't want that investigated and discovered . Horrible but not surprising that he pinned the murder on Lorena. I thought Nick did the killing because he was also so intent on blaming Lorena and so hotly pursuing Flor .
Well, at least the telenovelas are still morality plays that regard the good people and punish the evil. Susan

Fugitivas

Fugitivas
Diana , I always love sharing a telenovela with you. We have shared so many over the years with so many patio peeps . ...friends who have never actually met . I remember Anita managed to have some folks from the patio get together in Washington DC , including Vivi. Do you remember her ? Life was too busy for me to attend . Well, it's nice that we always have a story to look for are to . p.s. I hope you are staying warm and safe . Susan

Las Hijas
Kat, thank you for that great recap as our story unfolds . O is insufferable . What a bold schemer.

Urban ....loved your observation..." Enough of her own pain to understand his" ..how wise and insightful. People who have been hurt often can sense hurt in others and offer compassion and solace . Susan

L'as Hijas

I'm glad you guys mentioned the wardrobe because I do have some notes on that haha.

Mar's skirts COULD NOT be any shorter. I keep waiting for us yo get a glimpse of you know what..
The dress Val was wearing the night she met Nick was also dangereously short. And not that pretty.

And then there is Paula. You can actually count her ribs through the fabric, any tighter and she wouldn't be able to breathe. Who dresses like this just to sit around the house? A gold-digger does.

I'm thinking Ofelia won't keep that uniform for much longer, she is smart enough to find a reason to remove it - hopefully not in front of Luis - the poor guy has suffered enough.

Susan, I remember Anita well. Such an intelligent, witty and warm woman. I think of her, Madeline and Carlos often...and Vivi's voice is greatly missed.

Wishing you sunshine and warmth during this long and frigid winter!

Adriana Noel, I actually belly laughed at this. Too, too funny. Thank you!

Thanks, Kat, great job. Ofelia is hell-bent on taking control of that house. She is a real schemer! I am also tired of Val's over the top reactions.

Ha...Adriana, those short, tight dresses. I was surprised to discover from teens in my family that their very short dresses actually have shorts attached !!! Kind of like the skorts I wore but instead of sorts attached to shorts , they wear very short dresses with shorts attached . Observing fashion through the decades is interesting .

I agree that pushy , arrogant , grasping O won't be wearing that uniform for long because she does not see herself as a servant . I wonder how she is going to justify Mar hanging around the mansion, especially now that Mar has incurred the wrath of Paula. Susan , wearing lots of layers in this frigid weather brrr

Hmmm.....Priscilla seemed to be hugging Luis a little too long . Perhaps she will now go after the dad instead of the wild son. Race for the wealthy widower. Since females are programmed at birth to live seven years longer than males,, widowers seem to get lots of women interested in them..especially wealthy widowers . Susan

Adriana, regarding wearing black for mourning . I discovered how long some women wear black after a loss when I was teaching a young woman from a country in the middle east . She was probably in her 30s and wore black every class . The next semester , I had her sister in !aw ( they we're married to brothers ) and she told me that her husband was killed in a car accident ironically coming home from a funeral. Some cultures wear other colors for mourning ...like white.
Where I live,, I have noticed that many people no longer wear black to funerals, but I still do. Susan
