PAPAS #16 Part 1

Appearing at Chano’s house, Tino learns with a start that Checo is Chano’s son!

(Previously) Meanwhile, said son is flying down the highway from hell, Circe ensconced on the back of his fiery red moto. Roaring like the wind, she taking selfies, the faster he goes, the more thrilled Circe is. Then Checo makes a(nother) very bad decision as he makes a move to pass as they see a huge truck directly in front of them!

We do not see what transpired but now see Checo and Circe (obviously unhurt, no visible bruises) by the side of the road as the police arrive.

Fed and Aidé have several conversations, mostly how do you solve a problem like Facundo. I think Fed teases about someone she is interested in (Tino I say to myself).

Checo fills Chano in about his son and urges him to watch him like a hawk. He tells his astonished friend that Checo has fallen into bad company. In fact, they tried to kidnap his son Emi a few days ago! Chano gets very upset, Tino tells him being a father is very hard. Lichita appears and Chano gives the impression all is well. He and Tino verbally banter when Chofis arrives, needing her mother.

Rudolf and Clara Luz have a quick argument about the possibility of his involvement with Silvana/Pipe.

At the police station, Circe gives Checo lip and tells him to talk to the hand. Checo and Tino are on their way…

Bertha calls Tino and he takes off to get Circe.

Facundo and Scarlet and the adorable Chiwawa are shopping. He dangles the poor dog on her chain like a toy. One of his followers approaches for a selfie. When she sees how he treats his daughter, she walks off in disgust.

Aidé is trying to track down Circe but Tino reassures her all is well.

PAPAS #16 Part 2

Tino and Checo arrive at the police station. A policeman tells them they were in an accident. The kids come out and Circe thanks Tino. To my shock, Checo introduces his father to Circe as their gardener as Checo’s face mirrors his hurt. Tino simply stares. Later, Tino calls Chano on it but Chano seems not to want to make a big deal of it. Tino continues to make the point Checo is an accomplice of El Calacas.

Berta watches as Facundo and Scarlet arrive home; Bertha has his relationship with his daughter pegged perfectly.

Circe seems to forgive Checo as they nauseatingly engage in baby talk and hugs.

Circe begs Tino to keep what happened to himself. Aidé calls him and he tells her all is fine and Circe chimes in confirming that. Tino tells her later the important thing is that she is fine. She thanks him for keeping her secret and he gives her a hug. He tells her she is his responsibility and he will be there for her no matter what.

Dinner at Lichita and Chano’s ends with her and Chofis leaving the table. Checo berates his son and tries later (unsuccessfully) to talk some sense into him.

Oh no. Rudolf and Clara Luz are in another club with a few sleepy, bored and drunk patrons. He finishes a song and no one claps. He is sarcastic with the audience although Clara Luz applauds in an effort to encourage him (a lost cause if you ask me).

Tino brings the children some sort of toy, a bird. Scarlet admits to Emi that she didn’t have a good time with her father and they press their hands together in a show of solidarity. Lila and Tino talks, she says how much she misses her mother, Tino knows it is difficult.

Circe confides in Fer…

Aidé has visitors, Tino, Scarlet, Circe, Uli and Tino. Uli badmouths Checo to Circe’s annoyance.

Facundo and Fed are sunbathing as he paws her leg and makes childish sounds. He is so annoying Fed pushes him into the pool (she should have sat on him and kept him underwater I say wistfully).

PAPAS #16 Part 3 of 3

Clara Luz is with Pipe. She has Silvana’s notebook and manages to get him dancing. As she watches him, she has a vision of Rudolf dancing and as she notices the similarities, a light bulb goes off as she says “claro” to herself.

Aidé and Tino talk about her illness and the children who are the most important thing to her.

Clara Luz, Rudolf and Tino strategize.

Guzmán and his no-good assistant Wormtongue err, Igor plan and plot.

Facundo comes in asking for Guzmán as Igor gives him attitude.

Clara Luz tells Rudolf he may be Pipe’s father. We see a flashback to years ago where he met with Silvana. I couldn’t interpret, but it seems clear he does not want to be a father. In the present, Clara Luz seems determined to find out the truth. She tells him that if Pipe IS his, he has a responsibility. Strangely, this turns her on and they end up kissing.

In the last scene of the evening, by complete accident, Tino barges into the Maxiclick boardroom and learns the shareholders want to oust Aidé as president of the company.

I apologize but most of the dialogue was way above my understanding. I noted a few placeholders in case something important was said. Thank you in advance for adding to or correcting what I misunderstood.

Las hijas #20 part 1


The three brothers are now searching together for their spokesmodel. Leo surreptitiously starts recording on his cellphone.Nick feels Mar would be the ideal, but Leo vetos her on the grounds of being the housekeeper'daughter. Arturo wants someone real and spontaneous ( a set up for Val, but Leo will nix that on the same grounds as Mar).

Mar is worried about Juan. Val tells her to calm down, no news is good news, Mar wants to go look for him, ask a neighbor or someone.

Back to the drawing board. The brothers look at the designs still discussing the type model needed. Leo says something about Arturo staring at the gym girls too much and buying his girlfriend the house. He says she needed a place to live, but she turned me down. So now Sra. Garcia is paying dad back for the house.

Mar hears Susanna ( still crying) in her house and fears that Juan is worse, knocks on the door calling for him. Susana tells her he is in jail and it's her fault. Val looks on in shock.

Nick and Leo tease Arturo about trying to win the girl with a house. She didn't fall for him. They tease him. Nick says she is a challenge or very smart. Let the games begin. Arturo bets Nick he is going to make her fall for him ( in some timeframe which I'm not sure how long) or he will forfeit a year's something (dividends in the company perhaps). Ah, Leo now cuts off his cellphone. He has proof to sabotage Arturo and Nick with Val, depending on which one wins the girl in the future.

Susana informs Marvthat her mother filed a kidnapping report against Juan and he was detained as he was leaving the hospital. Mar stupidly says that can't be. I'll talk to my mother ( the police you numbskull, talk to the police). Susana tells her if anything happens to Juan it's all her fault. Mar runs to Val who just as stupidly says let's go home.

The three brothers continue to talk about the model. Arturo wants to get his photography equipment and take some more photos and make a choice tomorrow.

Juan declared his innocence as the cadre of inmates ridicule and mock him.

Arturo has the design team ( I believe) in his office ( I know because the shelves full of sheep is in view). He has the perfect model. He puts the smiling candid shot of Val on the projector. The theme will be women in motion.

Ofelia is dusting a coffee table when Cami comes in sporting a maxi denim skirt ( which I like). She pretty much accused Ofelia of causing Gloria's accident thus ensuring her job. I think she threatens to fire her, but Ofelia says senor Perillo is her boss. Cami doesn't let her pas as Ofelia insists she has work to do. Cami then tells her to clean this as she dumps her water bottle on the table and floor as she leaves.( Well water is easy enough to clean. She should have had coffee or something sticky like juice in that bottle). I keep wondering if there are any security cameras in the common areas of the house.

Val seems to be searching for a replacement phone for Mar in her drawers. Mar comes in and Val says I couldn't hear what Susana said. Mar tells her Juan is in jail. Mar is going to go to the police and clear things up. OMG, Val tries to discourage her from going! Leave well enough alone she advises . Mar can't believe her mother did this.Mar insists on going so Val offers to go with her.


 

Las hijas #20 part 2

It's nighttime at the Portillo estate. I guess the 2 security guards only work at night as we see them guarding the entrance again. Arturo isn't at the dinner table. Nick tells dad he's working. He finally chose a model for the line. He sent Nick a message. It wasn't one of the models from the casting hunt though. Ofelia, who is serving the dinner, drops her tray on the floor and looks quite faint. Once again none of the dishes break! Luis asks are you ok as she apologizes. Paula adds her 2 cents, with such a campaign it isn't just about having a pretty face ( bet she thinks she got the job. She is in for a rude awakening).

Val is shivering in the cold outside the police station waiting for Mar. She comes out and says it took forever to give my statement. They are going to send the information to the jail. Hopefully it helps his case, she cries and brings her hands. ( I blame a lot of this on Val. She saw Mar willingly go with Juan but didn't speak up when her mother put in the false kidnapping charge.). Val should have gone in the station with Mar also and added her statement!.

Juan is rattling the jail bars still declaring his innocence. The guard smacks the bars with his billy club and tells him to shut up, you kidnapper. Juan tells him again she's my girlfriend (novia...is that also a fiancee, prometida?)would that have more weight.) Anyhow the guard scoffs at him and tells him to tell it to the judge. One of the guys in the holding cell insults Juan, I'm not sure in what way, another guy then attacks the first guy and the next thing you know half a dozen or more guys are in a middle of swinging fists as Juan tries to protect himself. This can't be good for his gunshot. Mar may never forgive her mother, with good reason, IMO.

Ofelia is crying and praying. Mar is the most beautiful girl that has ever existed. This is her place. God, she deserves this.

Oh great. A guy is on the floor in the jail with a gushing head wound. All the guys say the new guy started the fight. The guards drag Juan off and just leave the injured ( dead ) guy on the floor of the holding cell. No cameras in this place?

Ofelia returns home with her full suitcase. She complains to Mar how hard traveling with a suitcase on public transportation is. Mar interrupts, we need to talk. You accused Juan of kidnapping me! Ofelia tries to justify her actions. Mar says she went to the station and explained everything.

Another shake my head moment at Textiles Portillo ( it was in bright red letters on the skyscraper, a TN business that has a name and function, wow). Arturo has his model ad with the candid cell phone photo of Val and he is sending it off to the publicity department. Shouldn't he have a contract with the model and professional shots of her in their active line, not someone else's tank top?

I am shaking my head so much in this episode. Can you believe Ofelia really wants Juan to remain locked u. She tells Mar if he's free he'll come looking for you! Mar you don't deserve a poor man, especially one that's in jail. Mar rightly tells her he is in jail because of you. Ofelia tries to justify her actions. I only want what's best for my children, when you are a mother you will understand.

Val, who had taken Ofelia's suitcase to her room, is unpacking it for her mother. She finds the sweater of her father. It's has a bunch of holes in it, courtesy of Priscilla. She is heartbroken at the damage and asks dad's forgiveness as she cries and clasps it to her bosom.

Arturo arrives at the breakfast table in a great mood because with his brother's input he has found the perfect model. He drops his bombshell. It's Val. Shock all around as he grins in delight.

Val and Mar are off to the jail to see Juan who hopefully is being released. Susana and dad racist her outside. Mar says I told the truth he is being released. Dad says no, he is being held at least a couple of months for fighting in the jail and it is all your fault.


 

Las hijas #20 part 3

Paula tells Arturo this is a joke, right. She is no model. Gabriela asks, the other daughter? Luis is upset also. Ofelia arrives with a china coffee pot held in her trembling hands as she sees Val in the ad.

Val reassures Mar Juan will be fine, it's just a couple of months. The two comfort each other as we see in the background a billboard of what I thought was just a mockup of the ad campaign. Mar notices it and says "it's you!" Val says, no.no.no. Arturo is playing with me.

Back at the table Luis continues to chew Arturo out and Cami says something about Priscilla that I missed. The family told Ofelia to leave the coffee pot on the table and go. Around the corner we see Ofelia ecstatic for Val. Nick asks Arturo why Val. Arturo says I told you why. Luis says it's your campaign but is still mad. She isn't a model. If it doesn't work out it's your problem.

Now Mar accuses Val of getting close to Arturo to get the job. Now she understands. Ok, Mar is no longer in my good graces. I expected her to be happy for her sister. No Val stole her dream she cries. Val calls her out on that, iits mom's dream. If it were really your dream you would have gone to the casting call rather than going off with Juan. Mar will never forgive her, as Val continues to insist this wasn't her fault.

Back at the jail Juan asks his mom for help. She tearfully tells him they have no money to help him since he took the jewelry and they have no more. Juan wants to see Mar. Susana can't believe it. It's all her fault for everything that has happened to him. Juan looks pensive.

Paula and Leo are in their room. Leo tells Paula he bets Val got the job so he could win the bet with Nick. What bet? So he tells her and adds, I recorded it. Big smile from Paula. When the campaign fails dad will see you are the brains and successor to him. And Leo says you will be the model!.

Leo goes to Nick's office to discuss the model choice. Arturo chose her to win the bet. Nick isn't so sure. I didn't follow all this convo and it's getting too late to backtrack and figure it out.

Luisis in his office . Leo comes in with his story of why Val was chosen and he has proof because he recorded the conversation between his brothers and will play it to dad. Luis is furious with Leo, so that backfired on him.

Nick gets some paperwork from one of the lawyer?in the business, who then tells him the models contract is missing. All the other models signed contracts but this one. Arturo isn't answering my calls. We didn't get permission to use her image. We need that signature ASAP or it can cause big problems. Nick tells the guy Val's name and says you can find her address in the files of the other models, her sister was one. Call our house if you have more questions, Val is the daughter of our housekeeper.

Leo tries to justify why he recorded. Dad is still furious at him.

Val rushes home searching for Mar who is t there. She leaves the house and runs into a smiling Arturo who is delighted to see her. She furiously demands who gave you the right to plaster my photo all over town. He says I didn't think you would react this way. "Quit thinking (you idiot). "" I want you to remove all pictures of my face. Arturo grabs her by the hand as she tries to leave. He caresses her face and says believe me, you are beautiful and everyone deserves to see this beautiful woman. Val says I'll never believe you

Mar is walking along an overpass she opens her phone to the ad with Val. She can't believe Val stole her dream now she has nothing. Will she jump?

Val still is railing at Arturo, you abused my confidence. Delete the photos and quit toying with me. I'm not, he insists. Why is every word out of your mouth a lie! He says no it's not. Is so. I loaned you my papa's sweater and you ruined it. Que? He asks, It's in my room. Liar, Val yells. Stay away from me. I want nothing to do with you.

Diana, thank you for another excellent recap. Neither of us is fluent in Spanish, but you manage to extract a lot more than I do and generally get anything of importance.

I rely on both Closed Captioning and being able to back up the episode that I have recorded.

Right now my major interest in this novela, and it seems to change from week to week, sometimes day to day, right now is the odd couple Clara Luz and Rudolf. They have been a mystery of sorts right from the beginning. Anyway, in flashback Rudolf remembers telling Silvana that he would not donate sperm under any condition, sorry, not sorry. He does not want to be a father even if Silvana waived any responsibilities whatsoever. I think he might have been saying that he wasn't sure of the morality of the offer, and in any case he was not interested.

And then all of a sudden we see some passion between Clara Luz and Rudolf. Say what??? They are definitely a weird couple. But interesting.

I can put up a small recap for Tuesday's capítulo, but I'm not sure just when. My computer was acting up a bit today, but then it cleared up. We'll see.

I understood he did not want to be a father but not the first, critical declaration. You cleared that up perfectly. Now of course I'm wondering how Pipe was conceived.

That kiss between Clara Luz and Rudolf seemed to come out of nowhere. I didn't quite believe it but maybe the spark will intensify over time.

Arturo still has no clue who Val is, does he? Despite good intentions, he continues down the wrong path. Seeing her image here, there and everywhere, Val's righteous indignation was completely justified.

So Ofelia finally realizes she has not one gem, but two.

Mar's very bad day continues. She and Juan are separated, her mother refuses to withdraw her complaint and now Val commits treason...

I felt badly for Juan...

I'm no Kreskin but I'd wager that tape is going to come back and bite Arturo at the very worst time.

Nothing is formulatic and I like the twists and turns.

Diana, that tape can come back to bite Nick also if he and Val become the pair we hope for. It would look like he chased her so Arturo would lose the bet. I really enjoy this show also. I'm going to have to pull out my old laptop, I think, to write recaps. I'm not a fast typist so haven't felt the need, but it takes so long on the phone and is so hard to type and edit, although I do like the app format for viewing the blog. Also, then I can then use the phone dictionary app more easily to look up words. The most annoying thing is when a section is too long. It's especially hard to parse it down in the app.

I didn't enjoy watching more of Susana!!! Let's go to Ofelia begging and pleading but approach Mar with venom, insults, and 'it's all your fault!!!' Make it make sense!!!?? I just can't stand seeing that woman come on screen which probably means the actress is doing in excellent job.

I don't blame Val for Juan being in jail either, mostly because Juan shouldn't be in jail. Even with Ofelia's accusation, even with Val staying silent, don't the police have to do any type of actual investigation??? How did they arrest Juan and throw him in jail without so much as speaking to Mar? How is it even possible that Mar doesn't even find out that she was 'kidnapped' until AFTER the man who supposedly did it is sitting in a jail cell? That to me is 100% on the police. Why can Ofelia walk into a police station and accuse Juan of a crime without absolutely no proof that a crime even happened and they just go arrest the dude no questions asked? I also blame Susana, because she's ridiculous, yelling and screaming at the one person who could clear things up to stay away while her poor little fully grown man-baby falls into Ofelia's dumbly laid trap.

Yeah, Art messed up big time publishing that campaign without Val's consent, now can Nic step in and convince her to go along with it and save his project? Will mom convince her for the 'we need the money' aspect of it? I'm not going to guess if Mar's going to jump because we all know she won't. Her reaction to Val was irrational but she's been through the wringer emotionally in the last few days and sometimes we overreact when we are at the end of our ropes, so I'll forgive her for now.

Yay for Luis laying into Leo for betraying his brother's trust, Leo is just clueless as they come, I definitely wouldn't want him running my company. He's actually the last of the three brothers you would want to give the reigns to because he's a spinless jellyfish, with no judgement who would be wifey's puppet. Nic and Art would make mistakes surely, but they have the intelligence to learn from them and they would help each other.

Mar really made my shit list last night. Valeria has never been against her in anything and Mar should have the intelligence to know that Val is a straightforward and honest person. She became as whiny as Miss Priss after seeing the photo and as accusatory as Camila when she should know better. There were a couple of shots of her with such a vacant expression that tells me that she is actually quite empty-headed, which stretches beyond naive.

I know I've written this before, but shouldn't she have ID that has her date of birth? If she's 18 or older all she would have needed to do was show that to the police and Juan would have been released. Of course, she isn't intelligent enough to realize that.

Ofelia should also be consequenced for filing a false police report.

As soon as Valeria saw the sweater was damaged I knew she would blame Arturo (whom I wish would lose that earring).

No poster is up that fast, even with current technologies. Deals and contracts need to be made and signed. Valeria could sue for significant money over the use of her image without her consent although we all know this is unlikely to happen, as they would lose the house and scandal would affect her as well as Arturo's family. Arturo now needs to win her consent and participation.

As a retired advertising professional I would have suggested the total ad campaign start with identifying Val as the fitness professional she is and show her at work. Give her a full-line wardrobe of the fitness wear so she can talk about comfort and performance and not from a script. That might result in mass orders from health clubs, even uniform orders for staff.

Paula would not be a good model for this line. Her snobbish attitude is too obvious.

Thanks, Kat, for a recap better than the episode. I am getting bored with the same old same old. Great comment by Urban who noted the actions that Arturo took are clearly illegal. I would love Valeria to sue. We need some new action to push this story forward. Currently, I am at a YAWN!

I wondered if something was cut out because at the end of Monday's episode , the young and the foolish were headed right for that big truck and then....on last nights start...they werent! What happened ?

Check telling Circe that his dad was " the gardener" Was terrible . Chano should have called him out right there . I am surprised that Tino didnt.

Guzman and Igor ...ha.Now there's a pair. Does Guzman ever smile ? We haven't even seen many EVIL smilies . Fede , in contrast, seems strangely giddy with EVIL.

Fecundo...meh...poor Scarlet and the pup have to be dragged around the mall with him because he has no friends evident!y and Fede is busy insinuating herself into the family while terrorizing Emi and trying to get close to Tino.

It did seem like something was cut. I was confused and shocked to see (nary a scratch) Circe and Checo by the side of the road, no signs of an accident in sight!!? Even if they veered away just in time (which seems unlikely given the close proximity of the truck), they would likely have spilled onto the road, right??

Facundo is a waste and am not a fan of the constant "mugging" and strange expressions (blaming the director, not the actor)...

Checo is cringeworthy...

Thanks so much Diana. I realize how much I miss when I read the recaps. I did not realize Checo introduced his dad as the gardener was pretty bad. At least Tino is on to him, and hopefully his dad too.

I loved when the fan walked away from Fecundo. I feel sorry for Scarlet, I know she lives her dad but she’s going to learn to dislike him. And not want to spend time with him!

Thanks Kat, great recap. I’m starting to feel sorry for Arturo! I guess he thought Val would be thrilled to be a model. He really is clueless when it comes to her. I guess he’s used to women like Pris and his sister.

Mar needs to grow up. I’m glad Val pointed out she skipped the photo shoot to go out with Juan.

I feel bad for Arturo and the sweater incident. He doesn’t have any idea that Pris destroyed it.

I loved How Luis turned on Leo. And Luis is right, they were supposed to be working together.

I’m enjoying this show. I’m always surprised when it’s over, it passes quickly.

Incidentally, I believe Rudolf said he would be willing to do a DNA test to show he is not Pipe's father. He should do it, that would settle any doubts!

Susan, they didn't show how Checo avoided the collision. But later, by the roadside, Circe tells him he is "super" with motorcycles. So he did some sort of maneuver that saved them. Then the police arrived, and Checo had no license, he left it at home :-)

One thing that popped out to me was Ofelia telling Mar that when she was a mother, she will understand, uh oh ...Is this foreshadowing that Mar is pregnant from that one night of Juan bliss?

We all knew that Val would jump to the conclusion that Art disrespected her beloved father by ruining her dad's sweater ...that Prissy did that aggressive dance on.

Gee, I thought Juan was being accused of killing the prisoner . Thank goodness he is just being held for fighting .

Leo is such a tattletale. It is disgusting watching arrogant, whiny Paula making him jump through hoops for sexytime with her. Pathetic.

Okay, is Val going to stop yelling and start modeling to help pay off the house?

Thank you, Kat, I didn't get to watch because my daughter is sick and needed me, but your words make up for missing on the show.
Of course Val doesn't want to become a model. It's a profession that is looked down on by many people and that's too bad, because it's very hard work. Val might think it's too superficial a job, but she will end up taking it surely.
I still didn't get why Mar was not OK because she was Ofelia's daughter, but Val is perfect. Because Art has the hots for Val maybe ?

Leo is an idiot but that video will definitely come back to bite Arturo when he 's n9t expecting it. I didn't think it was to bad for Nick, Art was the one offering a bet, right?

Papas #17 part 1


Tino walks in on a meeting of board members and finds they are there to push Aidé out of Maxiclick. He is astounded and argues with them until Igor walks in and asks him what he's doing there. I suppose he left after that.

Meanwhile Facundo, always a great guy, is accosting Aidé in the hospital, asking why she didn't tell him he had shares. He was funny, "This is how you pay me for giving you everything?" What a guy!

He goies on about how he had always wanted to work in Maxiclick. Aidé remembers differently, that he never wanted to work, period. He gets excited, says she leaves him no choice but to use his shares, and if she wants to talk to him, talk to his lawyer.

Then in walks the doctor, they are ready to place her stent tomorrow afternoon. She nods OK.

Meanwhile, our love birds, newly love birds, Clara Luz and Rudolf talk it over, but are interrupted by Tino with news that there is a plot afoot to push out Aidé from Maxiclick. Later, they are still trying to talk it over, but there is always something interrupting. When they go to see Pipe they find Pura unconscious.


Circe considering what Tino said to her wants to know more about Checo, his family, everything. Checo was also eyeing some money in the cash box at the gym. Checo really needs to straighten up and fly right. Chano gets after him for spending too much time on his cell phone, he doesn't want to see any more of that, or "matanga, dijo la changa." I don't know what that means, but Chano wasn't smiling. He wants Checo to avoid Circe, go to school, and basically act decently; Chano was very firm.

Guzmán and Igor plot some more. Guzmán is feigning a sore throat but he knows that Aidé will be operated on the next day so he wants another meeting to take place while she is out of the picture. Igor has hacked Aidé's email, so anything important goes to the spam folder.

Lichita visits Aidé in the hospital with some documents that need to be signed and can't be signed difitally. They talk a bit and Aidé has a proposal, if Lichita wants to demonstrate her loyalty she can send Aidé a daily resume of important things that happen at Maxiclick, not gossip, just important business. Lichita agrees, and Aidé stresses that this is between the two of them, not even Guzmán or Tino should know about this. Lichita agrees.

Fede presents Emiliano with a brand new wheel chair, a more modern chair. Tino is grateful, wants to pay Fede over time, Fede refuses; it's a gift, she says.

Facundo and Tino clash a little at Aidé's home. Scarlet wants Facundo to go to her school tomorrow, it is an open class for parents day. He promises to go and says it would make a good video. Tino secretly listens to all this.

Wow! Fede really is worried about Emiliano saying something about her and Facundo. It seems the new motorized wheel chair has a microphone implanted that allows her to spy on Emiliano's conversations, and she has a remote control that can override his controls. Very scary!
 

Papas #17 part 2 of 2

Scarlet and Emiliano are definitely buddies and bonding. Scarlet is all excited that her father will finally go to her school.

Naturally, next morning Tino finds Facundo at Maxiclick and reminds him Scarlet is expecting him at her school. He replies, basically, that she will understand he has other things to attend to. He calls Tino "Intestino". Tino does make it to Scarlet's school, just in time, and she beams.

Checo, at the gym with Chano and Chofis, gets or makes a call to his prepa, something about new books, can he come for them? (I am quite suspicious of this call.)
Chano lets him go.

At Scarlet's school a few parents are called up to be especially recognized, I have no idea why. Anyway, Tino is one of them, of course, and the audience votes on them by applause and Tino is the favorite. Tino and Scarlet hug. Goofy, but cute.
Scarlet is still upset that Facundo didn't make it, but she tells Tino a secret, she is beginning to love Tino.

Checo visits Circe at her prepa, but it doesn't go well. Checo starts in with a new story about his family, that they are involved with organized crime. Then Tino arrives and Checo leaves. Tino calls Chano who is extremely upset. I am confused about what he did after that. It seemed he was asking for help from someone else on his phone, but I didn't really understand. When Checo arrives back at the gym Chano lets loose on him and plans to send him to Chiapas and Checo's uncle Chilo for discipline and military training. Oh, boy.

There is another meeting of the board, but no Aidé, probably because of Igor and Guzmán keeping her in the dark, and not informing the board that she was in the hospital. There is another meeting scheduled for the next day, if Aidé doesn't show up, she's out.

Lichita overhears two of the board discussing things and pays attention.

Checo calls Circe and sticks with his organized crime family story. He wants to see her to say goodbye.

Uh, oh! Chano is served with papers for theft at the gym. I don't think it was Chano who took the money.

At Aidé's home idiot Facundo tells everybody that Tino is hiding something, that Aidé is critically ill and possibly dying. Everybody is shocked.

That's all folks! Please fill and correct, there was quite a bit I did not understand.

Thank you for the get well wishes!
My daughter actually looks a lot better today. She had a strange stomach bug; tired for a couple of days, some fever and throwing up yesterday night and nothing since. We're keeping an eye on her today, she'll be home with her dad, but she's almost back to her old self. Funny how kids sometimes almost heal themselves with sleep and rest.

I'll be posting a recap shortly, stay tuned :)
 

Las hijas, Capitulo 21
Part 1/3

Some lawyer calls Ofelia at the Portilla mansion to find Valeria. It’s about her contract so Ofelia states that she’s her daughter’s manager, she can deal with the contract herself. Because of course she can.
At home Val is in hysterics over finding her photo online. I mean, calm down a little, it’s not porn, it’s just a pretty picture of you smiling.
Priscilla sees the same advertisement and is talking to her mirror self, saying she’s prettier. Then she somehow spins out and starts bawling: “Why, why, why?”
Later her father finds her in bed, asks what is going on. Priscilla goes off on Valeria not deserving to be the brand image. “Arturo would rather be with a maid’s wife than me.” Whaaah!!

Ofelia is in a bus, a guy fell asleep on her shoulder (haha). She sees Val’s photo in the bus station, she is very proud.
She goes to meet the lawyer and tells him Val won’t be coming. She sees the money they are willing to pay, makes big googly eyes (it’s a big amount), but still negotiates, they need more. The company is already using her image without her consent, so what she is asking is for a million pesos – about 48 k in dollars.
The lawyer says Val won a contest, the prize was being the image of the brand and she is being paid the normal amount considering she is at the beginning of her career.
Ofelia is no fool, she says Val was never part of the contest, so what he’s saying is not valid. She never signed anything or agreed to any of the competition terms.

At the company Luis scolds Arturo yet again, accusing him of wanting to use the company for his love life. He knows about the bet! Since buying her house didn’t work, now he’s getting her a job? Using the family company?
Arturo says the bet was just a game, he has no bad intentions.
Luis says he no longer supports them, the company money is off limits. And he better not disappoint his brother, Nicolas, who trusted him with this project.
Then Luis scolds Nick, too, how could they go so far for a bet? He never thought he’d follow Arturo in his nonsense. Nick apologizes for playing along, but he will keep an eye on Arturo. He still trusts in this project.
Luis says they are on their own from now on. Just as Arturo, Nick says that they can’t do it without the company resources, but Luis doesn’t budge.

The lawyer goes to see Arturo, who gets frantic, he doesn’t have the kind of money that Ofelia is asking for, especially since his father is no longer funding the project.
Yeah, but we’re trapped, the lawyer says, Valeria never signed anything, and we are already using her image.

Arturo then sees Ofelia and he tries to play nice with her, says that the budgets have already been voted on, no model ever wins that much. These are just some photos, not the whole campaign. And Val doesn’t even want to be the brand image. If Ofelia helps him convince Val to sign on for the whole campaign, he will get her the money she asked for. Ofelia smiles.
She will help him, but she needs to trust him first. Give her half the money up front. She knows they must be winning millions on a daily basis. Arturo agrees to make a check on Valeria’s name. Ha! Ofelia frowns, but she agrees to these terms. They shake on it.

Val is searching for her mom all over the neighborhood. Amparo doesn’t know where she is, Val thinks she’s not answering because she’s upset, thinking she lied about Arturo.

 

Las hijas, Capitulo 21
Part 2/3

Mar has come to visit Juan in jail, she sees that he’s all beat up. He doesn’t think her coming here is a good idea. She says she loves him, she told the cops the truth, he never kidnapped her, he will get out soon. He’d like her to leave, she can’t see him like this. Mar wants to be with him no matter what, she will do whatever she can to get him out of here. Then it’s time to go and Mar says “I love you” several times before the guard takes her away.
It’s pretty awful, because they are in a common room, with a lot of other prisoners talking trash at Mar and the guards won’t even allow her and Juan to touch.
When Mar is gone, the other prisoners start bothering Juan, telling him how “yummy” his girlfriend is.

Camila is worried about poor Priscila, she is destroyed over the fact Arturo chose that Valeria girl for the campaign. Paula enjoys the scene, Camila gets mad, Graciela tries to keep the peace.
Priscilla is still crying her eyes out when Camila comes to visit. She won’t be able to stand this. Arturo gave everything to that woman! A house, a contract! He never treated her like this, she is worthless to him. Camila says her brother is an idiot who doesn’t deserve her. Prsicila asks her help to remove Valeria from the way.

Ofelia is happy with the cheque she made Arturo sign. This is just the beginning, she says to herself.
She arrives at the mansion, dancing and singing, tells the other maids she had serious business to tend to. They better get to work. Cooking, cleaning, whatever. Then she leaves again.

Arturo is sending Val a message when Nick arrives to confront him. How could he do this? He only wants to win Val over. It’s his own fault for allowing Art to go this far. And Art is only acting on impulse.
Arturo is certain Val is the right choice. Nick reminds him they even lost their father’s support, so Art says he will sell his car or watch if need be. He knows people who owe him favors, he will find a way to make it work. Nick reluctantly agrees.

Val is still calling her mom when Mar arrives. She is still upset because she thinks Val betrayed her. Ofelia arrives adding fuel to the fire by telling Val: “who would have thought you’d be so pretty?” Mar gets even madder, storms out.
Ofelia says she will apologize to Mar later, but she is so proud of Val. She is the new brand image of the Portillas. Val doesn’t want to work for them, but Ofelia won’t have this. They can’t lose all that money! What money? A million pesos.
Val is in disbelief, but then her mom shows her the cheque. Why did she accept this? She already said no to Arturo. She won’t sign a thing, she will never work for the Portillas. She grabs the cheque and tears it up. Ofelia picks the pieces off the floor, this money can solve all their problems.
But Val won’t budge. Arturo took advantage of the situation to take her photo. No matter, Ofelia says. It’s the minimum you can do, take the money and help out. It’s been a while since you had job. Val thinks something will come up, but Ofelia insists that money will give them power. She’s made so many efforts over the years to give them the bare minimum.
Then she says Arturo was right when he mentioned she won’t take his offer. She didn’t think Val could handle the challenge, anyway, she lacks self-confidence. But for whatever reason Arturo believes in her.
This obviously hits close to home for Val, who denies it, but she has tears in her eyes. Ofelia knows she never felt pretty and she’s afraid. She always says she’s not scared of anything, but whenever she has a good opportunity, she never takes it. She’s not as strong as she pretends to be. It’s a shame because Arturo really believes in her. And it’s a shame because he will be disappointed, just as many have been before him.
At first, I thought Ofelia was using reverse psychology, but I think she really hit a nerve. Val does lack self-confidence, and she always hides it by protesting to everything that might take her out of her comfort zone.

 

Las hijas, Capitulo 21
Part 3/3

Leo and Luis talk business. Then Luis scolds Leo, too, they are all acting badly. Yes, he did try to warn him about the campaign, but he went about it the wrong way. When will his kids they start using their brains? Leo is sorry for his actions, but how will his brothers be able to solve the situation they caused?
His brothers will have to deal with it, Luis states. But his actions were premeditated, which is worse. Leo says that he only wanted to film their brainstorming, he had no bad intentions. Did he cancel the shooting? Luis asks. No yet? He will do it then. How can he trust him if he’s not even capable to listen to a simple order.

Graciela has come to visit Gloria in the hospital. She asks the doctor about her condition. What can they do for her to get better? A neurological consultation could help, the doctor says and Graciela assures him money will be no issue, they will cover the costs. Alone with Gloria, she tells her she needs to get better and come back at the house. When she leaves, Gloria’s vitals spike, all these people should just stay away if they want for this woman to ever get better.

It's night time and Camila tells Luis about Priscila’s crisis. Then Art arrives and Camila accuses him of causing harm to her bestie. Art tells his sister that he can’t be blamed every time Priscila feels bad about something, she’s old enough to handle her own emotions.

Ofelia talks to Mar, who is still pouting. She is sure good things are coming her way, too, she will make sure of it.
One day Val will be famous, and she will get her turn also. She is much prettier than her sister, after all. Mar stops her, she is sick of hearing this. And she is sick of her!

Leo and Paula meet at a restaurant for dinner. He wanted to be out of the house to tell her that things are going badly at work because of the campaign. Dad withdrew his help and is convinced Leo went against his brothers, so he no longer supports him, either. No puede ser… Paula doesn’t think this will affect her front-page cover, she’s sure Luis will get over being upset with Leo in a few short days. What they need to do is think about a strategy to obtain all they ever dreamed of.
She has also decided to restart her modeling career. Haha, Leo’s face when she says this! She is certain she can easily overshadow Arturo’s little girlfriend. When Luis sees her front-page cover, he will realize she is so much better than Val and Leo made the right choice choosing her. Leo smiles, he is so very whipped.

Luis summoned Arturo to his office. He’d like him to explain what is going on with this girl. Why buy her the house and pick her as the brand image? Arturo says he never met anyone like her, she is so different! She is strong and doesn’t care about whatever he tried to give to her. And his choice is about her being the best for the brand. She has a great face, strong features and she can be the best for Nick’s project; Luis asks if there is not more to the story and Art admits that he’s in love with her.

Ofelia is trying to put the cheque back together. This could have helped them so much! How could her daughter do this?

Those problem-solving skills I predicted yesterday are on display in Art today. Daddy withdraws his money and Art says, 'I'll sell my car, I got some friends who owe me favors, we'll make it work!' The kid brother might have more chops than anyone is giving him credit for - but it's certainly doing enough to earn being underestimated. It's also really weird that you would withdraw company money from your new product line because you don't like the model choice, but I'll just adjust my beanie.

Ofelia the negotiating shark!!! It's quite bold to try to gauge the guy who you already owe your house to! Makes you wonder how she hasn't already made it further than she has.... why did it take until Val and Mar were 20 somethings for her to get a leg up if she's that calculating? I kind of admire her drive in some ways and then she says something stupid like Mar is prettier than Val, or Oh I didn't know Val was pretty too, and then I just want her to go sit in the corner and be quiet.

Checo tells Circe his family is part of organized crime and it rings no warning bells? Circe isn't as bright as she would like us to believe.

Fed is a dangerous character. Barely concealing her disdain for the doily Brenda gave her, Fed does a great eye roll. But her overt cruelty using the remote to control Emi's chair was chilling. I had no idea a mike was implanted in the chair, an important nugget of info Andy. Fed has a heart of stone with a comedic flair.

So Chano is gainfully employed at some sort of health club??? I liked Chano admonishing Checo and warning him he would have to change. Not that he will of course...I can't believe he took the money knowing his father would surely be blamed.

Guzman's mewling call to Lichita was unnerving. He has plans for her and they are not honorable.

All I kept thinking last night while watching this was "thank God Andy is doing this". Because I understood almost nothing, I stayed up and watched the later airing on high def as well which really didn't help.

Thank you for doing this despite your computer issues Andy!

I will do tonight but I ask everyone to please keep your expectations very low. My fondest wish is to understand but one word Aide's doctor says. :)

Mar should have worn a less revealing top to the jail. As the catcalls began I noticed she tried hiding her cleavage with her hair.

I agree with Darcy, Ofelia is quite the negotiator. I'm glad you did the math on the million pesos. I didn't even bother to try. It also seems like she is using reverse psychology on Val. I was hopeful we would be spared a Paula viewing this episode, but no such luck.

So much vanity in this show. Priscilla insisting she is more beautiful than Val, Mar subconsciously feeling the same because of her mother constantly praising her beauty, and of course Paula. At least Cami spares us that defect in character.

Ofelia was in her element, negotiating like a shark, managing to wring every possible peso out of the deal her daughter has no intention of accepting. I can't wait to see how she is going to make/force Val into agreeing to all this.

Arturo isn't reacting to Luis' cutting the funding off in an angry manner, he really seems to want to make things right. I still like him with Val...

So Juan hasn't been the brightest bulb, but he does not deserve what is happening. It's ridiculous he hasn't been released of course but as you pointed out Darcy, not seeing Susana was the one positive thing that happened last night.

Things haven't been going too well for Mar either. After years of Ofelia's brainwashing as to how beautiful she is, I can't be too upset with her reaction upon seeing Val supposedly steal the limelight and everything she has always been told should and will be hers.

Thanks Andy. Of course Checo has an uncle Chilo. I missed that when I watched. Not only do they all have "ch" names they also use a lot of "ch" words. It's so confusing. I must say that toddler is so good. Never a peep out of him. So I guess Chano works at the gym. ChNina needs to just watch Chbebe at home and not bother dad at work. 14 or 15 is certainly old enough to take on that chore. Of course Checo stole the money. He definitely is bad news and sending him to reform school is a good idea.

I 'think' the take your parents to school day was to showcase their jobs and Tino and the 2 other parents apparently had the top 3 interesting to the kids jobs. Then they had a show of applause run off to see who won.

Here is hoping Luchita can get the information to Aide about the board meetings she has been missing. She sure is surrounded by people out to sabotage her at work. With Guzman and Fede working in her company it's amazing it is so successful so far.

Ofelia will definitely be on the next list of Toxic Mothers. She is all about herself and to hell with everyone else. At least she hasn't committed murder.

Interfering in your adult child's career is so beyond the pale I have no words for how bad this is, doubly so because not only did she go into this blindly, her real motive is her own greed.

The other felonious offense is "You are much prettier than your sister." No wonder Valeria has no self-esteem. If this has been going on all their lives it can't be fixed. I know this one all too well.

We haven't met Prissy's mother but she must be or have been a real piece of work. It also looks like her father babies her and that is another kind of toxic stew.

I'm off to put another story's puzzle pieces together.

Thanks Andy, I enjoyed your recap. It was good to see Scarlett excited when Tino showed up at school. She’s forming a bond with him and Emi. Meanwhile Fed continúes terrorizing Emi. What a cruel woman.

I was surprised the people at the meeting thought Aidé was just a no show. I hope Lichita reports this to Aidé.

Facundo is a real idiot. Announcing to the kids that their mother is near death. He and Fede really are perfect for each other. Hard to say which one is the most cruel.

Thanks Adriana, for the great detalles recap. Ofelia is a great example of what not to do to your children. Poor Mar has just been told her beauty will make them rich, and poor Val was probably mostly ignored. And hearing about Mar’s beauty.

But both girls are more put together than Camila and Priscila. They don’t need to wear signs saying they’re the mean girls, it’s Just so obvious.

I liked the way Arturo handled everything thrown at him. Now if only Val will take the job.

I don’t like Leo at all. Poor guy has to jump through hoops to get Paula’s love. But he did that to himself. I’m pretty sure Luis knows exactly why Leo acts the way he does.

I'm team Val on this one. Yes, she does have to get a job and yes she does have to eat but that doesn't give Ofelia (or Art) the right to obligate her to do the campaign or force her into it without her consent. The fact that she looked all over the city for a job and even created her own flyers for personal training services shows she was serious about getting a job - it's not like she was laying on the couch watching novelas. Turning down the model job might not be the smartest financial decision, but there's waitressing, housekeeping, store clerk, taxi, whatever admin job Luis might have offered her, and presumably any number of other alternatives out there to keep from starving. Ofelia shouldn't get to manipulate Val just because of she happens to be unemployed. And the lack of job really is just her excuse, Of wants to feed her ambition of being rich and famous, she isn't worried about what's for dinner.
 

PAPAS #18 Part 1

Previously: Checo covertly watches as Chano makes change from the gym cashbox. But when the money is stolen, it is Chano who is served papers.

The Maxiclick board (not knowing Aidé is hospitalized) is set to oust her if she doesn’t show up at the next (morning) meeting which of course she knows nothing about thanks to Guzmán.

Summoning every ounce of (nonexistent) earnestness, Facundo stares at the children assembled around the table, spewing lies that Tino is keeping secrets and that Aidé is critically ill and possibly on the verge of death.

Is it true Uli asks? Tino refutes Facundo’s assertion; the surgery was not life-threatening. He lovingly reassures his princess Scarlet as she starts to cry.

Poor Chano is arrested…

Rudolf tries to rouse Pura as Pipe rushes to her side. I am all right she reassures the beloved child. She certainly doesn’t look it and Clara Luz wants to call an ambulance.

Having failed to stir the mutiny he wanted, Facundo decides on flight rather than fight. He tells Scarlet to come but she doesn’t want to. Tino warns him off.

Tino gets a text from Fed; Aide’s surgery went perfectly. Circe seems preoccupied with her phone.

Chano is declaring his innocence as the owner (I think) comes in. I can’t understand all his protestations but he (rightfully) denies, denies, denies.

Looks like Checo is being stood up.

PAPAS #18 Part 2

Rudolph tells Pura they know she is terminally ill. She denies it but Clara Luz (in a lovely blue paisley ruffled short-sleeved dress) backs him up.

Aidé wakes up to see all the children and Tino in front of her, each holding a single red rose. They complain about Facundo, Scarlet calling him horrible. Aidé, clearly touched, thanks everyone as they all cheer and gather round her.

Rudolf and Clara Luz have several conversations with Pura regarding Pipe. Rudolf seems to tell Pura that Pipe is not theirs to raise, much to her consternation. Pura tries with Clara Luz but I believe she says no and suggests Guzmán who is Pipe’s uncle after all. Pura seems not to want to consider that option.

Fed, dressed in all black, wears a cropped black leather blazer as she talks with Circe in the hospital.

Chano was released and is home as Lichita frets.

I believe Checo makes a video for his parents and then texts Circe who is naturally preoccupied that her mother is in the hospital. She puts down the phone when Tino come in. Tino is sweet to her but she says the only thing important to her is her mother (she certainly quickly forgot everything Tino just did for her). He does tell her he and Aidé aren’t romantically engaged but she continues her sarcasm saying she wouldn’t accept it if they were.

Chano leaves a voice mail for Checo and after, looks sadly at a picture of them in happier times, side by side.

Facundo knocks on Fed’s door (I can’t tell if she is still wearing her day wear or a negligee). He start to unbutton his shirt but she rejects him with a smile on her face.

Tino has a sweet scene where he reassures Emi. He later talks with Emi’s doctor who mentions something is a “grand opportunity” (?)

Lichita listens to Igor’s phone conversation.

Chano gets Checo’s video and text. He can’t get him and sits back with a desperate look on his face.

PAPAS #18 Part 3 of 3

Clara Luz and Rudolf brainstorm with Tino, soon a presentation complete with pie charts are created amidst much smiling and hugging. He asks Lichita if Guzmán is back, no he’s sick. He asks for some documents and as she answers, he rushes off.

Igor is in the boardroom with the members as Tino rushes in. Tino has the presentation. All I could ascertain is that the idea he presents is “Maximas.” Igor is ignored as he tries to interject his (worthless) two cents.

Checo darkens Circe’s door.

Chano goes to Maxiclick where he tells an alarmed Lichita what is going on.

Clara Luz visits “sick” Guzman who wears a mask. She talks about Pura being very ill and about custody.

Aidé walks into the board room, fresh as a daisy. I cannot translate any of their conversation but it seemed to end on a positive note.

Chano plays Checo’s video for Lichita who gives an impassioned plea saying you are the father of my children.

Aidé and Tino end up in each other’s arms and kiss. Just at that moment, we see a camera coming around the corner held by Facundo!!

Some of the dialogue completely eluded me. I did my best. Kindly fill in and/or correct. Thank you in advance.

Diana, thank you for another excellent recap. I think you got everything of any importance.

There is something I have been meaning to mention that I find really funny. You have said a few times that you can't understand what Aidé's doctor says. This cracks me up, as he is one of the very few characters I have no problem understanding. He does speak quietly, though.

Chano defended himself with don Rigo, the owner of the gym; he had told him they should have some security cameras, etc., etc., etc. Don Rigo had to agree with everything Chano said. Chano said that nonetheless he was in charge and he would pay don Rigo whatever amount was stolen though it might take some time, and he was quitting, he would not return to work at the gym.

That's about all I can add to this episode.

Las hijas, Capitulo 22
Part 1/3
Still at the restaurant, Paula goes to the bathroom and meets some guy who she has a history with. From their talk we understand that they used to know one another back in the day, they did stuff together and she was paid for doing this stuff. He is willing to pay her again. Paula pushes him away and runs back to the table, asking Leo to leave immediately because she doesn’t feel well. Leo notices that some guy is watching them, she brushes it away and they leave.

Val gets a text from someone who saw her advertisement and is interested in personal lessons. She is happy but I have a bad feeling about this.

The next day Val goes to the Portilla company to meet with the lawyer. She tells him her mother is not her manager, and she doesn’t want their money. The photo they’ve been using was not authorized, they can’t use her image any longer. The lawyer asks her to sign for the cancellation of the contract. She reads it quickly and then signs. But how can she cancel a thing that she never agreed on?

Luis, Leo, Nicolas and some guy talk about the campaign. The guy says Val’s image helped them a lot, it became viral. Their lady customers love the fact that Val is a real woman, and the press has been promoting their product, also. This woman can help this new line and the entire company. Luis is pleasantly surprised and Nicolas is smiling ear to ear, but Leo is pissed. What about the scandal involving accident? That’s been pushed aside, everyone is interested in seeing more of Val. Leo still has doubts, but Luis is happy with the news. However, he warns Nick that they need to be careful to keep up the good work, they need to follow through. And they are still on their own. Nick wants to move ahead.

Ofelia goes to the bank, but her cheque is no good because it has been ripped apart. She demands to see a manager, when she is denied, she makes a scandal, even as her name is not on the cheque.

As I suspected Val fell into a trap. Her “new client” is Priscilla, who has made her come to her house to insult her and whine about stealing Arturo from her. Val says she can keep him. Priscilla shows her pictures of Art with many other women, she will never be more than just another one of his conquests. She is no better than the others.
Val points out that Art has obviously cheated on her many times, why does she put herself through this pain? Priscilla says she was the one to ruin the sweater, Val is mad, but also says she feels sorry for her. They get a bit physical when Priscilla offends Ofelia. Then Val leaves, and Priscilla grabs a flower vase and looks like she’s about to throw it, but then she stops.
Sometime later the maid finds her on the floor with a big wound on her head and glass all over the floor. Priscilla tells her father Valeria caused this. After they go to the hospital, she promises Francisco she will make Val pay.


 

Las hijas, Capitulo 22
Part 2/3

Ofelia needs to go to work and wants Mar to come with her. Mar points out she’s not a baby, but Ofelia insists.
When they arrive at the mansion, Arturo asks Ofelia if she convinced Val to sign the contract. Not yet, but she will do it, she only needs more time.

Val sees her picture in the bus station and is recognized by a girl who wants to grab a photo together. More people gather, asking for photos. Val runs away.

Nick tells Art the photo was a success, they need to move forward. Yeah, that’s great, but Art has a little problem. Val doesn’t want to work with them. Nick is shocked they used her image without her approval. Art needs to convince her to work with them!

Camila sees Mar and they get into it again. Camila actually says that she hates Mar because she pretends to be a saint, but she’s surely jealous of her and she’s a miserable person. She will make sure her life will become a living nightmare.
Mar tells Ofelia she doesn’t want to be here any longer and runs in the street. Nick is driving home, Mar practically jumps in front of his car. She falls and hurts her elbow, Nick offers to take her home. Ofelia comes outside just as they are getting into the car.

Camila calls the company Juan works for since Juan is not reachable anymore. But she’s not able to get a phone number. Graciela asks who she was talking to, and realizes a boy is involved. Camila says she likes him a lot but she thinks his phone doesn’t work. Graciela tells her to go search for him (really?). Camila asks if Graciela ever fell in love. No, she answers, she kept waiting for prince charming, never realizing some real men were actually in love with her.

In the car Nick asks Mar what is wrong with her. She tells him Camila hates her, she also lost her father and never acted this way. Nick says some people are stronger than others. Mar points out that he’s different from his siblings and Nick thinks it’s the fact that he studied abroad. That changed him. Mar thinks it’s great that he had this opportunity.
As they arrive home, they see cops knocking on the door. They have come for Val and they are taking her away; she is being accused of aggression against Priscilla. Val says she’s innocent, Mar tries to help but doesn’t know how to. Nick asks what the charges are and is shocked to hear Priscilla is involved. As the cops leave with Val, Mar says her sister would never hurt anyone. Nick offers to drive her to the cop station.

Part 3/3

Jacinto visits Juan in jail, trying to encourage him. Juan is having a very hard time, but he will try to stay away from trouble. Jacinto feels guilty for hitting him, had he not been this hard on him, Juan would have never left home. Juan thinks it was his fault, he did things wrong. Jacinto insists he’s to blame and apologizes to his son again.
Outside he tells Susana Juan is suffering a lot. They need to get him out as soon as possible. He doesn’t deserve this. They both cry.

Priscilla and her father come to the Portilla house to tell them what Val did. Priscila tells a bunch of lies about Val aggressing her and boasting that she stole Arturo from her. Art is sure Val would never do or say any of this. Francisco swears that woman will go to jail in order to pay for what she has done. And he warns Luis that his company image is in danger.
As they leave, Arturo insists that Valeria would never do that, but Priscilla is capable of anything. And he will prove it. Both Camila and Graciela believe in Priscilla’s story, Luis is upset because Arturo is causing so much pain.

At the police station Val tells a cop about everything that has happened. But the cop shows her photos of Priscilla’s bruises. Val says she only pushed her, but never hurt her, she was OK when she left. The cop says she risks up to 3 years in jail. Val insists she’s innocent.
Mar and Nick arrive, and Nick goes to inquire about Val, while Mar calls Ofelia. She tells her about Val being arrested.
In the cell, Val is about to “get” the welcome package from the other women, when she is being called for a visit. It’s Ofelia, who gives her a big hug and asks if she is OK. What happened? Val says she didn’t do anything. She was tricked into going to Priscilla’s house. Ofelia thinks this is a good moment to say “I told you so”. She could have agreed to work as a model. Val is upset Ofelia would rather believe Priscilla. Ofelia promises to help.

Jacinto and Susana talk about a way to find money to help Juan. Maybe the car insurance? Jacinto thinks about finding a night job, also. Susana once again accuses him of beating his son, he would never have left if not. Jacinto says he doesn’t carry all the blame, they need to figure out a solution together.

Outside the police station Nick is on the phone with someone (a lawyer?) when Arturo arrives. He wants to see Val, Nick explains he barely managed to get Ofelia a quick visit. He thinks Francisco is putting pressure on the cops to be very strict. Art insists Val couldn’t have done this. He needs to see her.
Inside the station Ofelia tells Mar that Val is going through something awful. Then she asks Arturo to help, Priscilla is hurting her a lot. Art promises to help.

I appreciate your explaining the conversation with Don Rigo. He seems fairly reasonable...So how will Chano make up for the lost income??

Aidé looking like she was blooming like a rose after her surgery was quite the trick. I wish I knew how everything was resolved. Or not...:)

Best scene: Ofelia’s bulldozing ways being thwarted with the taped ripped check and not being able to cash a check not her own name. Too funny!

2nd Best Scene: Valeria FINALLY getting over her never-ending self-destructive tantrum and dealing with her situation with the Portilla company.

Worst scene: the Priscilla set up.

2nd Worst Scene: Valeria starting to get bullied by other female inmates. Why do we always have to have these jail scenes?

This was so well written, you explained everything perfectly including "Art has a little problem. Val doesn’t want to work with them. Nick is shocked they used her image without her approval. Art needs to convince her to work with them!" Perhaps the bros should try to get on the same page first! :)

I'm trying to find some sliver of light but with both Juan AND Val in jail, things are looking glum indeed.

So now that the public seem to be embracing Val and Luis seems proud of Arturo and Nick, everything goes awry.

The only miracle seems to be that Ofelia has kept her job. Val in jail, Mar being heartbroken, continuing to be subject to psychological abuse from all the women in Luis' home. Still, enough is not enough as Ofelia blindly soldiers on.

Pris is cunning and extremely dangerous; how could her father be so blind??

The bright spot for me was Paula and a stranger (to us) meeting as "...we understand that they used to know one another back in the day, they did stuff together and she was paid for doing this stuff. He is willing to pay her again". Busted! Couldn't happen to a more reprehensible person.

I have no sympathy for Susana or Jacinto, but do feel for Juan.

Adriana thanks. I knew that call was Priscilla as I wondered a few episodes back why she went to that spa and took a photo of the help offered board. When Priscilla picked up the vase I thought, oh she is showing restraint when she didn't toss it. I'm sure the maids cleaned up the mess, but if I were a lawyer, I would be demanding the glass to look for fingerprints. Here's hoping Nick or Arturo can hire a great lawyer and set her free. I would have to rewatch the scene but a maid witnessed part of their altercation. Of course the first punch is never the one people see, but the subsequent self defense. Priscilla is so damaged, she needs a good psychiatrist. All those magazines of Arturo with other women. Why she has continued to pursue him is beyond my comprehension.

I wondered about that contract also. Val did read it, initially I thought maybe the lawyer was trying to slip something in that gave them permission to use the photo already plastered all over. Perhaps it is in it somewhere in legalize that Val doesn't understand.

Susana once again is the master of crying. Can you imagine winning that role in the show. Ugly crying and screaming are the traits needed for this role, all others need not apply.

I am buoyed up by Tina's unfailing positivity and kindness . He is such a loving father , including Scarlet and bratty Circe.

It looked like he has recruited ClaraLuz and Rudolf in some kind of project, and the three are turning out to be a super team. . I was surprised when Aide showed up at that meeting . At first , I thought she was upset with Tino for presenting his ideas , but then the kissing and smiles came.

I got a kick out of Guzman's on again off again face mask. Clara Luz 's expressions seemed to indicate that she wasn't happy with the thought of Guz having custody of Pipe. So, exactly why is he claiming he is sick and staying away from Maxiclick? Igor is a little weasel.

Fecundo has gone over the line telling the kids , including hos own daughter that Aide is in very bad shape . He isn't just stupid. He is dangerous and without scruples. He is the polar opposite of loving, kind Tino.

Kat, I forgot to add it to my recap, but the maid did see the end of the altercation and saw Val left while Priscilla was still unharmed. After Pris started to create a scene in front of her father the maid did try to say something but Pris sushed her with a killer look.

Diana, I definitely feel no sympathy for Susana, but Jacinto did make me feel for him, but this is only because the actor played the scene so well. I still remember how he beat on his son and yeah, made him want to run away from home.
Juan and Mar's story is the perfect exemple of what happens when toxic parents interfere.

Jarifa, ITA agree with you about Val's tantrums. They don't make her very likable, she could say no without screaming and screaching so much. With a gh like her and a suegra like Ofelia, Art doesn't know what he's getting himself into.

Susan, I think Guzman is staying away so he could have plausible unaccountablility if Aide loses her position. I think in the board meeting Aide offered to buy up the board members shares at the end of they were unhappy with how she runs the show. Tino's ideas, with Clara Luz and Rudolph's, help included movies, concerts, etc. now I'm not sure if they plan to sponsor them or just offer them on their platform ( think Amazon Prime on TV) to bring in a lot more members.

I'm confused about Guzman. When his cousin died I thought he actually wanted to gain custody of Pipe and all his glorious money left to him by his mother. So being "not it" in the guardian race confused me.

Did anyone mention that Pura didn't know until recently she had cancer? I think on her 3 day MIA she discovered the diagnosis. She was keeping it to herself as she digested the awful news. I may be getting episodes confused, but Pura asked Clara Luz and Rudolph to leave after they invaded her privacy and since they don't want to become Pipe's guardian.

I thought Art made the best and most pointed comment when he said at the end that he knew both Val and Prissy perfectly well. He knows what Pris is capable of and what Val isn't. And that's what bothers me most about this fallout. Francisco knows his daughter well enough to raise an eyebrow before running off to imprison Val. But if Prissy and Art have been off and on for years then Cami, Luis and Graciela also know Prissy well enough to know what she's capable of. No one raises an eyebrow??? Not even an odd look between them as they just immediately assume Val did this? And why would she? Exactly what motive would Val have to seek Prissy out to hurt her??? The whole store is nonsensical....and once again someone needs to throw someone else in jail is a baseless accusation? No proof needed??? Of says Juan is a kidnapper, throw him in jail. Pris says Val attacked, throw her in jail. Crazy.

The mistake Val made was admitting any kind of altercation happened at all. I'd like to say more, but busy day, gotta run. Thanks again!

I rewatched the scene with Priscilla. Val only lost it when Priscilla mentioned Ofilia as being obsessed with Val and Arturo as a couple. She told her to leave her mother out of it. Priscilla grabbed Val by the throat which is when Val pushed her off. The maid was about 3 feet away when this occurred so she should be a reliable witness. Of course Daddy may threaten the maid with termination since now he has to protect his daughter from false testimony against Val.

Darcy, I totally agree the police are seriously stupid in this show.

I love how Facundo feels so superior to Tino and Aidé but meanwhile he is sleeping with Fed in Aidé’s house. I thought it was interesting also that he feels he did so much for their marriage but it seems he never was willing to work.

It was a shock seeing Aidé at the board meeting the day after her surgery. I guess Lichita called her.

You are also right in that Lichita was likely the one who called Aidé. I'm still having a hard time reconciling that the Lichita we are seeing today is the same person who bullied Aidé years prior.

Did Priscilla and Arturo ever really date. Val was correct when she told her she was obsessed with Arturo.

The mean girls seem to be getting worse. I can’t believe Nick told Mar his sister changed when their mother died. No one can change that much.

I was wondering if Nick and Mar could become a couple. But I’d be very surprised if Mar isn’t pregnant, so there is that.

Ofelia at the bank was something to see. And her name isn’t even on the check. She’s a but too much for my liking.

So it seems Paula was more than a model at one time. I can’t wait for the truth to come out!

All the yelling in this show makes my throat sore!

How will Art and Nick get Val out of this ?

Kat, yes, when Prissy picked up that vase of flowers to toss , I thought she paused in a brief moment of sanity and was actually going to save that poor maid from cleaning up one more mess caused by her hissyfits. I did not expect her to hit herself in the head . This girl is BSC. I have no idea how they can prove that she did this to herself. Pris pushed Val down into the chair at least three times before Val shoved her back . I cannot stand people bullying others.


I, too , thought that the writers were literally throwing Mar and Nick together when he hit her with his car (que???),and then I thought he was driving her to the emergency room...nope ...to her house ???

Gee, four burly cops to pick up one tiny girl . I guess the writers thought that we didn't bet enough depressing scenes of innocents being terrorized in jail .

Okay, bright spot was that guy sudden!y popping up from pushy Paula's dark, mysterious past....and dim , besotted quick saw him !!! Yay. Its time the bad guys got some trouble . susan
