PAPAS #59 Part 1

Previously, Aidé’s face mirrors her concern as she asks her beloved daughter what is wrong. In a whisper, Scarlet says she is praying and hands her a picture (likely the sad self-portrait Emi drew). After Aidé gently asks Scarlet to tell her, we see her whisper to Aidé.

After navigating a difficult curb, Jason assures Emi that the US provides more accessible accommodations for people with disabilities than Mexico. Tino agonizes that he does not have the funds for Emi’s surgery. Despite the anguish being away from his son will cause, he wants Emi to go to the US with Paulina and Jason to have the lifesaving surgery he requires.

The brother forewarns Clara Luz that Guzmán is taking Pipe out of school and sending him to Switzerland in just three days. Clara Luz goes into panic mode. We see a taxi arrive and Clara Luz gently shepherds Pipe inside, eyes darting furtively…

We open with Tino telling Paulina and Jason Emi needs to go with them to the US. Paulina is not gracious but Jason says the most important thing is that Emi makes the trip and has the operation. “Muchas gracias” Tino says as Paulina walks off.

Aidé and Scarlet are finishing their conversation and she asks her daughter to trust her as she hugs her tightly.

Fugitive Clara Luz is kneeling before Pipe, giving him a pep talk…He asks about Rudolf to which she stares.

Facundo is at the gym doing sit ups as he talks with Aide about Scarlet.

Tino brings Fed up to speed about Emi. She feigns concern and he stupidly tells her she is a great woman.

As our stomachs churn, we are forced to see Guzmán carrying on to Chofis, continuing to pretend how sad he is. He stands up and being the kind girl that she is, she empathizes with him. I am alone he laments; you aren’t she says. You have me and my mother. He “chokes” up and asks her if she is sure. He moves toward her like a lion stalking its prey and then leans forward and then kisses her on the lips! As viewerville recoils, Chofis is startled and uncomfortable. He then backs off and smiles, supposedly reverting back to his “old” self. He brandishes a gift (a new phone?). Gracias she replies but no, her parents won’t let her keep it. He says it will be their secret. He says it’s an innocent gift from her tio. She looks like she is weakening then grabs it and puts it in her bag. They pinky swear and Lichita comes in. As they leave the smile disappears from his face.

Tino and Jason leave Paulina with a sleeping Emi and Fed, the hyena. Fed seems to gloat at Paulina, likely delighted she is getting rid of Emi and that Paulina is being “saddled” with him.

PAPAS #59 Part 2

Scarlet is hand in hand with Aidé on one side Facundo on the other. They get in another argument about Emi and then in a later scene, about Fed. Fast Forward…

Rudolf gets back frantically looking for Clara Luz. She texts him as he stares thoughtfully. (I don’t believe she told him she took Pipe).

Igor and Guzmán are meeting when Brother Cervantes calls saying Pipe is gone. Guzmán is furious, telling him his only job was to take care of Pipe.

Aidé complains to Dámaso about Fer. She glows talking about Emi saying how noble he is. Dámaso mutters something after Scarlet returns and she and Aidé leave.

Everyone gathers at Emi’s bedside at the hospital, Scarlet holding his hand. Circe, Uli, Lila, and Bertha offer words of encouragement; everyone clasps hands.

There are several scenes with Fed and Dámaso plotting, thick as thieves. I can’t supply much here.

Guzmán is at Lichita’s with Chofis listening at the door. He rages at her but then backtracks a bit.

Brother Cervantes calls Rudolf telling him Pipe is gone.

As “the” operation is supposed to take place in the US, I’m not quite sure what procedure is being performed on Emi at the hospital. It’s time for Emi’s extended family to wish him the best. "Te quiero" Circe says, kissing him. Uli calls him brother and kisses him on the forehead as they shake. “Hermano te quiero mucho” Lila says, encouraging him, holding his hand tightly, kissing him on the forehead. Emi whispers to Scarlet “you didn’t tell my secret did you” he asks? Looking guilty but before she can answer, Fed comes in. She and Aidé stare daggers at each other and then Bertha and Tino come back in.

We next see Emi on the operating table. Tino is in the waiting room with a handsy Fed as Aidé sits in a chair. Bertha leads family in prayer.

A frantic Rudolf tries to enlist Lichita and Chano’s help.

PAPAS #59 Part 3 of 3

Paulina gives Jason another reason as to why he should smarten up and leave her. They are “different” but she “loves” her children. Finally, Jason asks her to look him in the eye. Did you abandon your children? She denies it of course but not being born yesterday; he stalks off.

We see someone taking pictures of Circe, Uli and their friends at school.

Paulina joins Tino, Aidé and Fed in the waiting room. Aidé goes to talk to Tino, Fed watching. The doctor comes out and it seems as though everything is all right at present. Paulina taunts Tino who vows he will love his son forever.

I think Guzmán quizzes Lichita as to whether she knows anything about what Clara Lu was up to. She doesn’t know anything. Clara Luz then texts Guzmán.

Checo texts Circe who takes a series of selfies; Checo sends her some in return as “Grease” like music plays. All of a sudden someone sends Checo the pictures we saw them take of Circe. He reacts worriedly. (We need to remind ourselves that El Calacas is still out there, somewhere).

Paulina is back arguing with Tino as Aidé listens. He tells her how wonderful the children are as Aidé smiles.

Rudolf’s phone rings but no one answers at first. It’s Clara Luz whom he scolds for taking Pipe. To our (and his) surprise, they run down the stairs, Pipe flying into his arms as Rudolf stares at Clara Luz.

All of a sudden, we see someone at Emi’s bedside…We see gloved hands pulling the plunger and injecting all of the bag of solution into Emi’s IV. The mask can’t hide Fed’s evil eyes!

Paulina seethes making it obvious it is Lila she wants and cares for. In the bombshell moment of the night, she scornfully tells him “Emi is not your son; he is the son of another!!”

Did anyone see this revelation coming???

So much flashed by so quickly, I tried so hard but was at least one to two scenes behind throughout the entire episode. Kindly fill in what you can; I am so appreciative for all of your gracious assistance.

Las hijas #63 part 1
Val and Arturo enjoy their romantic breakfast. She doesn't want to talk about mom, but she is saying with her because she looks bad and can't stay alone. Arturo understands, she is your mom after all.

O calls Rocio with the good news, she's moving on up to the better life with her daughter. Now she is closer to Arturo and will facilitate Rocio getting close to him.

Arturo tells Val that dad is pissed at her and Nick for taking off without saying anything. Val is harping back to not wanting to model and having everyone stare at her on the runway. Arturo talks her off that ledge.

Hurray, O and Rocio agree they need a DNA proof, finally. But how? O has seen on TV that saliva or hair can be used. Rocio asks are you sure? O decides she'll offer him a glass of water and keep the glass. She'll let Rocio know when she has it. Rocio asks for a small favor, put in a good word for me. O says how can I do that about a stranger. Rocio gives suggestions on how and o says ok I'll try. O hangs up and says she first is going to see Luis Portillo.

Breakfasts at the mansion, with the tainted tea. Leo says you usually take coffee at breakfast. He says I'm too stressed so I'm skipping coffee. Leo and Paula trash talk Val Nick and Arturo about the active wear line.

Nick and Pedro are excited about sales of the line in department stores and I think about where the kickoff will be held. Then he tells Pedro after the launch I'm going to Boston for a while. I need some space. How long Pedro asks?, dunno, a few weeks or months.

Susana is giving Cami matrimonial advice. Cami feels neglected. Juan is working double shifts to provide for his family. Babies are expensive.

Another launch meeting and this time Arturo and Val are no shows ( or late). Luis blows u again. Paula smirks.

The lovebirds arrive a minute or two after Luis stormed out. Paula says it'ss obviously the non professional models fault. We need a new model, yours truly. Val to goes to talk to Luis.

Val tries to tell Luis about O but he doesn't want to hear it. This campaign needs to be a success. She promises to do her best.

Arturo won't hear of Paula being the model. Leo and Paula I think quit the launch campaign. They leave. Val comes in having talked with Luis and the event is still on again,bi think
 

Las hijas #63 part 2

Paula tries to calm Leo down. Your brothers won't drop Val, but don't worry I'll make sure the launch is a fiasco.

Luis looks like death earned over sitting at his desk at the mansion. Mar brings him the launch invite. He feels bad, he can't control his anger. Dimwit Mar of course doesn't connect the dots of the drops she has been giving him. She really is stupid. Doesn't everyone know you should consult a Dr. before taking herbal supplements if you are on medications to make sure there are no contraindications? At any rate she seems to convince him to go to support his kids.

Cami received an invite also, along with a dress to wear. She doesn't want to go. Susana thinks this would be a good opportunity to reconcile with her family. Cami thinks it's only about making a good impression and not hurting the brand by having discord amongst the family ( I guess amongst the rich and famous this could be an issue, I think she thinks too much of herself that she would be missed). Susana thinks she should make the first step in healing the rift. ( Susana is full of good advice this episode, I can almost start liking her).

Leo calls Paula from the office. He can't find his cell. She says it's not here as she takes it from a drawer and puts it in her bag. I'll see you at the event she says.

Val is a nervous wreck eating breakfast with a beaming O who is so proud of her. O wonders if Mar will be there. Val says she's invited but I don't know if she is coming.

Paula runs into Mar in the foyer as she is leaving. Mar says she looks great. Paula goes into how exciting it is to model, rubbing salt in the wound as Val has the role Mar always dreamed of. Then she butters her up, next launch you can help me and after the baby is born we will get you into modeling, you are much more beautiful than Val. Mar hugs her gratefully.

At the event some unfamiliar guy arrives, he's the sound guy. Pedro, Nick and Arturo are confused. The other person had to cancel, he's the replacement.( Obviously part of Paula's sabotage. I don't see the point though, if it is a failure she is the one that planned it, right).

Cami is in a little black dress ready to go to the ball, but she wants Juan to go with her. She wants to mend fences with her brothers. He'd rather not. She says I want to go, but not without you...

Paula hands off a thumb drive ( she got it from the drawer where Leo's cell phone was hidden) to the sound guy. Manuel takes it and says he'll use it as she wants him to.

Val is all made up for the event. O says she is beautiful. ( I've only seen fashion shows on TV but using only 1 model seems ridiculous. Will they have to wait 5 minutes between costume changes?). O tries to calm her nerves but isn't doing too well at it.


 

Las hijas #63 part 3

Cami and Juan arrive, not wearing the little black dress, but a white one with flowers on the bodice. Juan is in a nice suit jacket. Nico welcomes then. Is papa coming? Not sure. It's fine though, this is my project, not his. Your usual seat up front is reserved for you.

Paula comes into the dressing room to give a non pep talk to nervous Val. Don't worry if you fall I'll help you.

O enters the event and she and Juan collide as he isn't paying attention. She thanks him for saving her life. He says I'd never let someone die or be hurt, unlike you. Mar then arrives. She gives mom the cold shoulder.

Arturo and Nico arrive in the dressing room to give Val a pep talk. ( Arturo does not look good in his grey suit jacket buttoned up with no tie, Nico looks much better). Both brothers stare at her with silly grins on their faces.

Paula and Mar compliment each other on their looks and hug with O looking on in disgust. Luis arrives and the press swarms around him asking questions that he refuses to answer.

The sound guys are ready. Manuel gives a guy the flashdrive. Manuel smiles as the guy downloads it to the laptop.

Arturo keeps kissing Val. Won't this mess up her makeup? Everything is ready you can do this.

Paula as MC welcomes all to the show then presents Nick and Arturo, the masterminds behind the sports line, Momentum Wear Sport. The show starts and yes there are lots of models, male and female. I guess the star gets a private dressing room because this is the first we have seen them.

Luis and Mar talk about the show. He is proud of his boys. Val is the star at the end, a position I should have had Mar mutters, but Luis doesn't hear her.

Coca cola ad time in casa Susana. She raves about the sports line show to Jacinto. He says I have a much better show as he sashays in front of her. I thought they were going to rush to their room as they actually have an empty house for the night, but I guess the writers didn't want to subject us to that spectacle.

Arturo and Nico present the face of the brand, Valeria Sanchez Garcia. She walks on stage I guess she is supposed to say something. But ten the thumb drive is played. It's a conversation between Nico and Arturo, I think, where they talk about her. I'm not sure what all was said, I don't remember the conversation from previous episodes. Can someone fill me in on this? Val says I can't believe it. Paula lurks in the background smiling.

OT. For those following Juegos, I'll post something tomorrow. I had two molars extracted today so I'll watch it tomorrow. The Tylenol is starting to wear off, time for another dose.



 

Clara luz is telling pipe they are on an adventure of hide and seek, sorta. They don't want anyone to find them so they win the game.

Guzman asks Chofis if she will give tio a hug to make him feel better she agrees, then he kisses her. He then gives her a state of the art smartphone. She initially refuses because her parents wouldn't approve. It's our little secret he says.
 

Fede and Damaso talk about Fede needing some more herbs to use on Tino, something that works within 2 hours it thinks. Damaso warns her they can be deadly she has to follow his exact instructions. She agrees. He'll get them to her after she pays up.

I agree, the writers got the plot confused I think and are doing the operating in Mexico. Maybe the follow up treatment will be done in the US.

Clara luz has decided the best place to hide is in plain sight. I sure wish she would ask Felipe for monetary help or a lawyer to help in regaining her son.

How's it going with the political thriller Telenovela ?

I’m all caught up but there were surprises in this episode. Aide was smart enough to not leave Emi alone before the operation, but guess she thought Fed was not around after. I too was surprised they did the surgery in Mexico. But now poor Emi has that awful drug in him that made Tino so crazy.

I wonder how long it will be before Guzmán finds Pipe, and makes another move on our inocente girl. It’s hard to watch him pulling his “poor me, I’m all alone” stuff.

Tino not being Emi’s dad was a real shock. I wonder if Paulina felt guilty for cheating when Emi was born.

It was a bit sobering that Mar wouldn't even acknowledge her mother. So pliable, so gullible.

Paula continues to sprinkle her poison as Luis looks as though he is about to keel over any second!

I understood none of the taped conversation they played so cannot even hazard a guess.

Thanks Kat, I enjoyed the recap. I found it hard to believe someone on a telenovela doesn’t know how to get dna! I thought that would be a prerequisite to getting the part! Ofelia is not capable of minding her own business and it’s hard to feel sorry for her. Although she does have Paula’s number.

Mar has turned out to be real dense. I don’t want to call her an idiot, guess I’ll go with “not the brightest bulb”. Paula tells her she’s beautiful, much prettier than her sister, and Mar beams. She always seems to forget she never went for the job, she sent Val.

I couldn’t tell what was said. I figure it’s stuff she took off Leo’s phone, with the brothers talking about Val. But I can’t figure out what she gained by doing this. She upset Val and everybody connected with the sports line. But if she took it from Leo’s phone everyone will know it was her. I do wonder why she’s not modeling as she seems to want Val’s job. But there are other modeling jobs if she was a model. If Leo covers for her he deserves whatever the writers do to him. I can’t stand her smirk. Are we the only ones that see it?

After all the talk, the agonizing over Emi's going to the US for the operation, the writers get amnesia and decide "oh, ok, we'll just do it here without a specialist?" I better get my beanie out of storage.

This was crucial "Fede and Damaso talk about Fede needing some more herbs to use on Tino, something that works within 2 hours it thinks. Damaso warns her they can be deadly she has to follow his exact instructions". Heinous. Both.

"Clara luz has decided the best place to hide is in plain sight" doesn't seem the best strategy to me, but what do I know?? It is regrettable Felipe didn't stick around but I gather the writers wanted him out to move forward with the Pipe/Clara Luz/Rudolf storyline.

What a blockbuster ending!

Liz, I hope you are feeling a bit better today and that you continue to improve.

"But now poor Emi has that awful drug in him that made Tino so crazy". Liz, thank you for your always sharp and observant eye. I knew she was injecting something poisonous but not understanding what Fed and Damaso had discussed, didn't realize it was the same concoction that almost killed Tino. As Emi is a small child, I wonder if she lessened the dose. My vote is no as I fear she wants to kill him. How chilling.

Even if she had overheard Paulina telling Tino Emi wasn't his son, I think Fed would have done it, she hates the poor child. What a monster she is.

Liz you jogged my memory on the taped conversation. Didn't Leo surreptitiously tape it when they were trying to get Val to be the face of the line and she was refusing? If Val thinks on her feet we'll she could turn this to her advantage, but I doubt she will..

You know it is a meh episode when the highlights for me were Susana scenes, lol.

I'm still not convinced what Fede gave to Emi is what she wants to give Tino. She has designs on his body she wants fulfilled. I don't put it past her raiding the hospital drug supplies to get something else. I guess we will see.

OT Diana, yes I'm on for tonight....I am relieved of babysitting duties as it's spring break for the 6 y.o. and they are on a 4 day getaway. That is why I scheduled a dentist appointment. If I'd been on top of things I would have tried to get an Ortho appointment. I've needed a new hip for 2 years but since I can still walk a few miles a day, albeit in pain, I have stalled. I'm not sure how long I will have driving restrictions after so I really hope to make it 2 more years when I imagine preschool will be in order for my granddaughter. I hate giving up the "job", they are only young for a little while and then we aren't so cool in their lives.

Kat, it will be interesting to see what Fed "gave" Emi. I know he will pull through but this is very disturbing development, especially with what he's gone through not only with Fed but his cold, calculating mother as well.

It is clear how much you love being with your granddaughter and I have no doubt she is thriving under your care. What a wonderful bonding experience you've shared. I'm so sorry that your hip is painful. Waiting two additional years to have a replacement seems challenging; perhaps you can figure something out...I hope so.

Diana, thank you so much for yet another great recap as the evil is ramped up and the innocents suffer . Kat, thank you for the extras .

I can't believe why Fede has this intense hatred toward Emi. I understood why she was threatening him to keep him from telling Tino about her and Facundo, but that secret was revealed . Then, I guess that she was somehow pushing him to convince Tino to be with her, but why does she want to kill Emi ?

What a surprise that Pauline revealed that Tino is not Emi's biological father . Why did she reveal that now if she doesn't want Emi to go with Jason and her ?

I am with all those who are confused about Eli's operation happening in Mexico. Did the doctor feel that the operation could not wait?

It is hard to watch despicable Guzman pursuing young Chofis. I hope either Chano or Checco find out .

Well, the one thing that I appreciate about telenovelas is that as our Judyb used to tell us they are actually morality plays in which the good are rewarded and the evil punished . Bring on the anvils. Bring on the HEAs. Susan

Wow...Kat , you are a warrior .!!! You have been through a lot. Let me just tell you that my best friend had hip surgery , and I couldn't believe how fast she bounced back . She told me that she followed her doctor's instructions exactly . She also told me that knee surgery was harder to recover from than hip surgery. My sister is 8 years older than I am , and she has had both knees replaced. Susan

Kat, thank you for an excellent review of all the drama. I haven't had a chance to watch this episode . Looks like the only smiles are from scheming Paula .

Even after O being so down and out lately, she cannot stop interfering as she plots with Rocio. O is exhausting .

Mar has proven herself to be not only dim but shallow . The writers have managed to make me dislike everyone in this show except loving , empathetic, loyal Ampara. Telenovelas used to have more of a balance between good characters and bad characters. Now, the scale seems to have tipped toward the evil characters . ..so depressing . Is it a sign of the times?

So sick of Val whining about a job that has given her a beautiful apartment and nice clothes and food to eat . boohoo..poor you. Lots of people would be so grateful for that job. I suppose she will get a HEA...don't care. Susan
 

Juegos #20

Alexandra's Birthday celebration continues. She leaves a drunken Adrien for some time alone. Daniel finds her and they talk a bit. Later they are back talking at the party and Adrien beats him to a pulp. Alex screams for someone to help but Memo is holding her back and every else is just watching the spectacle. Daniel has a flashback to the accident and recalls a female voice saying we need to help him. Finally Pato and Luciana show up and break up the kick first on Daniel. After the pummeling of Daniel Alex gives the promise bracelet back to Adrien.

Enrique tries to break up Lucia and Roberto, he's a married man...

Enrique is at his wits end with his younger son. They go with all the press on their heels to Daniel's house to apologize. Daniel invites them in to get away from the paparazzi. Elena is playing some sonata which triggers a happy memory for Enrique. His mother, at an old upright piano plays the same song and invites young Quique to sit beside her as she gives him a lesson. We see Enrique comes from a very humble background.

Daniel loses his TA job with Manuel. He has just delivered him some reports Manuel had asked for. Daniel took the report back after learning he was fired. He needs the job to pay for school. I think Manuel suggests he take a payoff from Enrique, but he refuses he will get another job.

Memo convinces Pato to let him be his helper on Enrique's campaign so he can get closer to him.

Adrien manages a reconciliation with Alexandra, with the gift of a chunky smartwatch that he says looks so good on her. I personally think the chunky smart watches are ugly!

Looks like a celebration for Lucia's graduate degree completion is being planned by Enrique and Ines.

A few weeks later Roberto and Karina divorce is finalized. Roberto is doing PT at home and I'm thinking good for the writers keeping it real as he groans in pain using the stretch bands. Lucia arrives and gets the good news. They celebrate with shirts falling off and no hint of a scar on Roberto..

Enrique makes a call. You've made your point. I need you. You need to return to me. Pato overhears and questions dad.

Not as many characters made an appearance in this episode. Bertha did show up at Roberto's apartment to tell him the case against brown has been dropped as he is dead. Roberto mentions accomplices, 8 other people died, but she seems to put the kabash on him going further with it. The boss man from the agency also showed up to tell him that the internal investigation absolved him from any wrongdoings.

My friend who had hip replacement asked her Dr how she would know when it was time to get the surgery and he answered " You'll know." I guess that he meant the pain level. Susan

I haven’t been able to watch yet and I can’t until tonight so I don’t know if I am guessing correctly or not but I seem to recall when Leo was recording the brothers argument didn’t Art bet Nic that he could get Val to go out with him? I think I remember a bet!
 

OT Susan, My Dr said the same. That is why I'm waiting. His wife apparently was delaying for the same reason. The biggest reason I haven't is my cousin had a hip replacement and 6 months later she died. Not sure exactly what her official cause of death was, but she had just received her second COVID shot the day before. Rather than having it be a possibility, the story goes she had a blot clot from the prior surgery. So it was either of those 2 things, though honestly she did not practice the healthiest lifestyle so who really knows ....at any rate I now have a paranoia about having surgery....

You are right; Fed's hatred for Emi is inexplicable. By committing such a desperate (and evil) act, I can only think she believes Emi is going to tell someone about her abuse (too late fortunately).

Tino just been dealt a harsh blow learning Emi isn't his son. It appears certain Emi will suffer some sort of medical crisis as a result of whatever Fed injected...

I'm sure Aide will sense what happened right away. Speaking of, did she really think she could keep Emi safe just by loitering around his beside? I'm surprised she didn't tell Tino immediately about what Scarlet told her, surely she will do so now, right??

Kat, thank you for the recap. This is a good show . There were a lot of bad guys , but there are also several good folks in this one.

At first, I felt sorry for Adrian because nasty Memo was pushing him to cover the accident up. Now , be just seems like a spoiled rich kid . This actor looks like Enrique. He is as tall as Enrique .

Daniel is such a good guy .This actor looks younger than when I saw him in " Fugitivas. " He will probably end up with Alex.

Susan, I like this show the best of the ones I'm currently watching. I even like just putting up a short recap as I can watch it then mention what happened without getting bogged down in the minutiae. Yes, Memo has a thing for Pato. It was mentioned in the Synopsis of characters that someone gave before the show started. It's funny, I hadn't heard the name Chofis before either. Now 2 shows have characters by that name.

I had a large Fitbit but it died just after it was a year old. Also 2 smaller Fitbit died young so I swore off that brand.Now I have a more dainty amazfit brand that is going strong 4 years later. My only complaint is if I push a shopping cart or stroller it doesn't count my steps. I end up attaching to my shoe when I walk with my granddaughter.

After watching - yep, it was Art betting he could get Val to fall for him and Nick saying Val was too smart to fall for him... bad things ahead for Art and Val and probably Val and Nic too!

Susan, I agree with you to an extent about Val not being grateful enough for her job which has given her a lot but I kind of forgive her for two reasons 1) she still puts full effort into it. She's not one of those complainers that sits back refusing to try and making excuses - Val has put the work in even while feeling uncomfortable and 2) it's really her insecurity talking. Of spent her whole life convincing her she doesn't measure up and Mar is the pretty one, Val is just plain uncomfortable being noticed for her beauty and you can see it in every interaction. She can't make herself be comfortable with it any more than one could make themself feel anything else. I do feel like her complaints come out more when Of is around and that's probably because Of amplifies her insecurity issues.

I'm 100% with you on missing the days when there were more likable characters though!!! This trend toward more and more drama and less and less likable characters is disturbing. Like the flawed galans and the 'HEAs' that come after the couple has been through so much that you no longer care whether or not they are together. I want to see romance make a comeback, heartwarming, true love, true friendship, good conquerors evil - lots of good guys, and only one or two evil doers.
 

Las papas #60 part 1

Paulina repeats the fact that Emi isn't Tino's, angry that he isn't reacting. He tells her it isn't news to him, he's known for a long time. The truth came out 6 years ago when Emi needed a blood transfusion. Tino wasn't the right type. Then the doctor goes on to explain they ran a rapid DNA test which disclosed the truth. ( This sounds fishy medical practice to me, running a DNA test to check for blood type! Beanie time). Tino insists Emi has been his son all along regardless. Just like she , unfortunately is his bio mom. Paula calls him a fool. Aide listens to this all from the doorway probably thinking, no wonder he accepted my twins as his own.

Poor Emi is suffering seizures. A doctor comes in. To inform Tino, Paulina and aide that Emi has suffered a medical crisis, probably from the surgery. Paulina asks will he get better ( probably hoping he won't). The doctor advised them to keep the faith, Emi has shown great strength from the day he was born.

Pipe is happy to be home, though home looks different. Clara says it is because somebody else bought it and made changes. But his room is unchanged. He runs upstairs to play.

Guzman is bashing Clara. Igor says call the police. Guzman doesn't dare. It's will be his last resort. Where can she be. Igor offers suggestions, none viable. Pipe's inheritance is mine Guzman states. Silvana bullied me and I deserve it.

Checo and Circe talk on the phone. He sounds strange to her, but he says everything is fine. He wants to formalize their relationship since her mother seems to be on board. A changed Circe says she doesn't need jewelry or fine clothes, his love is enough. Her 2 school friends cheer her on as they have overheard her side. The one that likes Uli asks about her mom being ok. Circe says now we are both lower class she is ok with it.

The Dr comes back. It isn't the surgery site, it's something systemic, and now he is in a coma

Chano is at Fede's beck and call for three hours in her office to do work. Confusing scene.

Rudolph tries to reason with Clara. You'll end up in jail. She needs to figure out a legal way to get costudy. She plans to keep pipe in the house and homeschool him, which Rudolph scoffs at. Pipe runs in, one of his toys is missing, he wants to go to a store and buy a new one. See, Rudolph says. Clara tells Pipe they can't leave right now.

Sure wish someone had recorded Paulins who I think says I hope Emi doesn't make it. Tino calls her heartless. Jason comes back and she pulls her woe is me act and faints on cue.

Chofis shows off her new phone to her friend, whose name I've also forgotten. She says, ooh, who is your sugar daddy. Chofis says he's not, I got it for passing all my exams.

Aide comforts Bertha at their home. The kids come home from school, see their long faces. Aide explains his condition to them. They all want to go see him. Aide says it's not in his best interest for visitors right now. She and Bertha go pack some things for Emi and Circe enlists Augusto's help to take them to the hospital.

Paulina is in a hospital bed recovering from her fainting spell complaining to Jason that aide and Tino called her a hypocrite. Jason believes every word.

Aide tells Tino the kids understand and are awaiting word. She contacted Felipe and he also understands, take all the time you need to deal with this crisis. She also called Rudolph. He's keeping up with the View fan ( some sort of YouTube application perhaps). They work side by side at the tablet Aide brought until Fede shoves herself between them. Stay away from my man she tells Aide. Tino, why didn't you tell me about poor Emi, as she hugs him tightly. He barely hugs her back. Aide rolls her eyes.



 

Las papas #60 part 2

Chofis shows up at maxiclik for her tutoring session. She notices influencer Facundo and is dazzled. She asks her mom about him. Guzman drags her off for her lesson, Facundo flirts with Luchita. I wonder if she supposed to butter him up so he sells shares? I thought they wanted her to work on Brezelian? Maybe she has 2 targets. Chano spies their interaction. The two argue as usual. She reminds Chano they are nearly divorced, he has no right to be jealous. They both now have better careers and can help the kids in their studies, etc.

Aide goes to Paulina's hospital room to chew her out about her behavior towards her children, she also knows Emi isn't Tino's. No he didn't tell me I overheard you.

The nurse walks down the hall. The kids are on their spy mission to see Emi. They make it to his room. Scarlet is shocked to see all the apparatus used on him. Lila explains it is to help him. We have to be upbeat for him, that is what he would want. Circe wonders what can we do. She walks to his side and starts singing.

Guzman asks Chofis how do you like your new cellphone..she loves it. He's the best uncle in the world. Brother Cervantes calls

Paulina tells Aide she doesn't understand. She had to get away from the poverty she was living with Tino. Aide says she would never abandon her children. Paulina tells the story of Emi's parentage. She worked in a hotel. Some guy offered her the moon and state, but it was a lie. Then she birthed a damaged child she couldn't live with the proof of her infidelity that was handicapped. Paulina scoffs at aide, the perfect maternal figure. Aide tells her you never deserved a guy like Tino.

All the kids are singing to Emi now, Scarlet and Lila weep. Circe tells Emi she hopes the music helps him. Uli says he is the light of the world, he gives meaning and color to everything. He can't wait till he is better and they can play video games together again. Scarlet tells him mom says love cures everything, and I love you so much Emi. Emi squeezes her hand. Tino and Aide find the kids in the room and drive them out. It is not safe for them to be with emi, Tino tells them he will fill them in on anything that occurs. Scarlet tells them Emi squeezed her hand when she spoke with him.

Tino and Aide discuss the kids breaking into the hospital, with Augusto's help. They both agree they have forged a family full of love for one another. Aide tells Tino he is a great father and she is so proud of him. The Dr comes in needing Tino for something. Aide kisses emo and says she is there to watch over him. She notices the wheelchair. She doesn't find any microphone or cameras, though I don't think she searched hard enough personally. She figures Fede was just messing with his head telling him she put a microphone in the chair. Facundo texts, he wants to see Scarlet. She texts back, Augusto is bringing her to your apartment.

Chano and Luchita talk in their home. Luchita says we need to sign the papers but we have 3 beautiful children. We can still be good friends. I guess the tutoring session is over since Luchita is at home. Chofis gets through another day unscathed.

Facundo once again chatting with his fans on camera. Bored Scarlet lies on the couch and recalls what she told Emi, about him wanting a costume party. She begs dad to play with her, without the cellphone. Costumes please. He sends her to the closet. She finds the red bear head, or whatever the nightmare Uli sees, in it and thinks it's a cool costume.


 

Las papas #60;part 3

Paulina grabs Fede into her room. Smart thinking Fede starts her phone to record her. But she gaslights Paulina, she denies everything they discussed about Emi staying with Tino, that hopefully the surgery would go badly, etc. Fede claims she would never hurt a hair on the head of her darling Emi. Bye

The kids discuss Emi. Lila is having an attack if conscience, she treated him badly. She's afraid he won't wake up and she won't be able to tell him how much she loves him, and is happy he is her brother. Circe calms her down. Everything will be ok. Lila now wants them all to get on board with the costume party, but with music, and I think with some group.

Damaso, by phone, is trying to talk someone into investing in his business, private streaming of his brand I believe. I'm wondering it is will be pornography, he has an associate that is experienced in streaming (Aide?) . Are you in?

Tino is talking to Emi with love. We all want you to wake up. Return to us. Emi squeezes his hand.

Aide confronts Fede about her terrorizing Emi. Fede tries to play it off as he imagines things. Aide pushes her into the wheelchair and threatens her.

Uli is waiting for Scarlet to show her costume. She pops into the room with the Mask. He has a panic attack. Where did you get that mask. It's dad's Scarlet says. Uli yells it was Facundo....
 

Papas

Fed asked the yoga guy for more of the drug but said she wanted a lower dose. Something about Tino’s actions and she wanted less in him this time. This was Monday night.

I feel a little better each day. Hope my life will soon be back to normal, but not sure.

Kat, your recap was simply superb.

I rewatched the later airing of the episode while reading your insightful summary that illuminated so much that I hadn't understood.

Tino really is just about the perfect father (a 9 out of 10 with a deduction for him failing to see how evil Fed is). What a good man with an ever expanding heart.

Paulina "...birthed a damaged child she couldn't live with the proof of her infidelity that was handicapped" is beyond cold and callous. She is a formidable enemy but she isn't quite as smart as street savvy Fed who always manages to stay one step ahead. Her recording Paulina was a fortunate flash of inspiration. I cannot wait for both to be revealed for the slimy snakes they are.

I enjoyed Aide warning Fed about Emi, pushing her in the chair. Her muttering "you are the monster" was perfect. I completely agree with you Kat that Aide's rummaging through the wheelchair was not thorough enough. I am dismayed that "she figures Fede was just messing with his head"; she has been shown often enough that Fed is the epitome of evil.

I am hoping whatever terrible plans Guzman has for Chofis are thwarted; he is so heinous and dangerous.

Is Facundo so stupid he would throw the mask in a closet, making no attempt to hide it? Well, yes he is, but I am still leaning toward it being planted there. Poor Uli!

Las hijas, Capitulo 64
Part 1/3

Everyone is in shock, hearing Arturo's voice on tape betting that he will make Val go out with him, while Nick thinks she's too smart to fall for his games.
Mar feels very bad for her sister, Luis wants to intervene but Leo stops him. Camila whines about unworthy Val ruining everything, but Juan feels sorry for her.

Val remembers that she is the protagoista of the story and saves the day by saying they meant to have everyone listen to that taping. Because the press loves the Portilla scandals, isn't that so? Yeah, she was a bet, and a very risky one, because she has no previous experience. And that's why she was chosen, because this line is for regular women, real people with real feelings. And Arturo and Nicolas have worked very hard to make the product a success. She is smiling but when she goes back to stand between the two men, she pushes Art's hand away.
Luis is impressed with her, but very mad with his sons. He remembers very well this is the audio that Leo once made him listen and accuses his older son of provoking the whole mess. Leo tries to defend himself, he lost his phone earlier; but Luis is too dissappointed in him.

Val is very mad with Arturo, he wants to follow her to her dressing room, but she throws him out!

Ofelia is ery proud of Val. She tells Mat she was humiliated the same way she had been, but for Mar it's not the same. Ofelia accuses Paula again, Mar won't listen.

Leo confronts Paula about the taping, his father knew about it!! How could she do it? She insists she only did it for him, the others always treat him badly. She loves him so much, but he's such a disappointement.

Val is frantic, wanting to leave. Art keeps insisting they need to talk, Nick arrives, also, saying they will investigate to see what happened. Ofelia is there to stand guard, they are both thrown out.

Pregnant Mar (who looks anything but) has anothet brainwahsing session with Paula. She feels bad about what happened, Paula thinks this proved Val that Art was never serious about her, at least now she knows the truth.

Back home, Ofelia tries to comfort Val by calling Art a desgraciado. It's not working. Val is a mess, she's tired of being strong. Ofelia says she needs to turn her pain into anger and that will give her strenght. Val wants to be alone.
In her room, she cries about being Arturor's toy. Ofelia follows her and tries to tell her all the things she should have said years ago: she is beautiful and she is worthy, and everyone will see it now. Art is doing her a favor, everyone is seeing her shine.
Val can't believe she could be so stupid, how could she trust him? Ofelia feels bad for bringing that stupid contest into their lives. Wow, I didn't think she had it in her!

Later Val has changed into her pyjamas. Ofelia tells her no man deserves her tears. Val says she's not crying because of him, but because she was stupid enough to believe that he'd be different with her. Interesting! She is broken hearted, but is it more about her pride or about love? Ofelia says all men are trash, but she will pull through. Val doens't believe she'll ever be able to trust nyone again, but nobody will ever hurt her.

Art is furious, Nick asks Perdo about the audio. Leo says he has no idea what happened, he lost his cell. Nick calls him a traitor, Art thinks he wanted to destroy them. Leo didn't but he's worried about dad, he asked to see them.

Part 2/3

Camila and Juan arrive and Cam is furious because Val ruined everything. She doesn't appreciate it when Juan takes Val's defense. Susana thinks Ofelia was surely the one to blame, it's always her.

Luis is so mad, he's about to burst. The brothers are fighting about Leo taping them. Luis says regardless of the onversation being taped, Art used Val. Nick défends his brother saying that was at the beginning. Luis accuses them of ruining their good name, he'd rather sell the company than leave it in their hands. They're all fired! They took it all as a game, making a bet and playing with that girl. Art says Val saved the launch, but Leo's actions are unforgivable.
Nick will make a statement saying that the sportwear is no longer part of the company. Art says he will resign, also. As they both leave, Leo still wants to say something, but Luis asks him to get out. Is he also fired?
Mar is putting some more drops into Luis' drink. As if things weren't bad enough.
She tries to make him drink it, he screams at her also, he wants to be alone. Will his head explode tonight?

Art has come to see Val at home. Ofelia wants to ask him to leave, but Val would rather face him herself. She no longer wants to see him. He begs to talk to her, she asks him to go cash in his bet, he won, she fell in love with him. She shuts the door as he keeps knocking and begging to talk. This should be sad, but I'm just blah…

Nick asks the sound guy what happened. He doesn't know.

The next day, Leo is upset because his brothers were fired. Paula thinks that great, Luis won't be mad for long. Leo, however, is mad with her for stealing his audio, she says once again that she did it for him.

The press is saying great things about Val, but Arturo's reputation has taken another hit. Val feels to bad to be happy about her good press.

Mar puts some more drops into Luis' drink. He sees the front page news, his sons made a joke out of his company. He drinks his glass. Paula and Leo arrive and Luis tells his son they need to talk as soon as he's done eating.

Camila tells Susana that it makes sense that everything was a bet, why else would Art be interested in someone like Val?
Nick has come to visit, he's saying goodbye. He plans to go to Boston for a while. It has nothing to do with the launch, he already wanted to leave. Camila is sad. Nick asks her to tell the others that he's gone, he can't bare do it himself.
When he leaves, Camila is very sad because Nick has always been her defended (yeah, the one who dragged her out and didn' even allow her to take her private things with her). What about her other brothers? Art is with stupid Val and Leo is with stupid Paula (as in they have lives). She no longer has a famlily. Susana says that she has a new family now, and a baby on the way. Camila looks as happy at the prospect as the Patio is.

Part 3/3

In the study Leo once again says he's innocent, but Luis doesn't believe him. And yes, he is also fired. What else could he be capable of in order to get what he wants? Leo tells him he will investigate what happened, Luis reminds hilm he only taped that discussion to show it to him after and make his brothers look bad. So his intentions were malicious. Leo starts to play the victim card, he was never good enough for him, he always preferd his brothers. Luis insists he's out! He can't stand his lack of loyalty. And he won't change his mind.

Nick comes to see Val. She's not as upset with him as she is with Nick, she thinks that's why he was distant (huh?). She doesn't want to talk about Art, from now on it's all business. Nick says both he and Art have resigned, they need to be on their own from now on, find a new place to work. There is no more need for her to go back to the company. Val is sorry everything turned out so bad, who taped them? Leo did, but Nick thinks Paula is behind the leak. Val says she won, she destryed her. But Nick disagrees, the press loved her. And he caresses her face. Val deosn't care about the press, but about her pain.

Art has come to gather his things from his office. Luis is sorry he had to make this decision. Art thinks he made a mistake, and no, he will never come back, he'd rather starve to death.

Val tells Ofelia Nick came by and told her he and Art no longer have the Portilla money to help. And he also thinks Paula was behind it all. Ofelia once again tells Val no man deserves her tears.

The press wants to talk to Luis, but he's in no mood. He screams, then stumbles… and loses his balance. He drops to the floor.

Adriana, excellent. I'm with you on the not feeling sorry for Val. So she doesn't need to go back to work. Won't she lose her apartment perk then. O lost putt on grabbing some DNA when she through the brothers out of the dressing room. She should have grabbed set by the hair and dragged him out.

I've never seen the Luis character before but from all accounts he makes a good villain. I bet he prefers this furious dad role to the grieving widower from the early episodes. He sure can tell and look like hell burst a blood vessel. I wonder if pretend anger raises blood pressure. The actor is in his 60s, may not be good for him IRL.
 

O lost out on grabbing some DNA when she threw.....should have grabbed Art by the hair.

Let's see how much I recall from last night's episode. Sure enough, makeup department had no scar from the bullet on Roberto, unless he was actually hit on the inside of his bicep, which I guess is a possibility since he was wearing a vest I guess sex is less painful than PT.

Daniel gets a text with a first photo of his soon to be nephew or niece and shows it to Alex. Alexandra and Daniel share a kiss in the classroom they both are taking another class together. No other students arrived and Alex hightails it out of the room. She tells Adrien she has another class with Daniel and she doesn't want anymore jealous scenes from him.

Daniel has been using Mom's pills to handle his anxiety. He tells Memo they aren't helping. Memo plans to get him something stronger.

Speaking of Memo, I wonder if he is actually Enrique's son. Memo only wants his uncle's approval, he could care less about his dad. Mariana married Mateo because he was useful at the time. Definitely no love in that marriage. She attempts to seduce Mateo and he refuses. Who needs a 50 something woman when you have a willing 20 year old on call.

Luciana's congratulations dinner happens. Francisco and Enrique are seated at the head and foot of the table. Francisco asks about her future plans. I can help you get a scholarship in the US for your doctorate. She declined. She wants to take a break and spend more time with Chofis, who is also at the dinner. She also says she has a beau, but doesn't disclose who it is Chofis says good idea, until you know it is the real deal, given your closeness to the presidential candidate. But then Pato arrives with a special guest, Roberto, so the cat is out of the bag. Poor Adrien can barely look him in the eye.

Bertha nearly gets it on with Joaquin in her office, but then as he goes to shut the door Victoria sees them and he switches it up and he tells Bertha I'll get right on the assignment and leaves. Not sure if Victoria has a romantic interest in Joaquin, Roberto teased her about him so it's possible.

Susy, unlike most Telenovela pregnancies, appears to have popped over night and looks about 6 months pregnant already. Omar is upset about something. I think Elena still wants to sell the apartment, but she also wants Susy to live with her so she can help her.

Francisco calls Enzo, one of his henchmen I assume, to tail Enrique if he goes out. Enrique goes to see Karina. You lied, Gaby is at camp ,( a fact Roberto made known at the dinner party). By the way, guess who he is dating. Your nanny, Luci. Karina is furious. So they start making out

Luis’s health crisis will hopefully get us out of what I term as the “telenovela doldrums.” The “doldrums” usually happen a little after the halfway point and can extend to the three-quarter point or even beyond.. Nothing seems to be happen except marking time to crank out a certain number of episodes. We are on #64 out of 82 episodes. Guess it is time for some action . . . or so I hope.

Val gets on my last nerve, too, with her constant whining.

Poor long suffering Luis! So far, he is a good guy. Will some unsavory fact about him and Rocío and the baby reveal him to be something else?

Nick scatters like the wind. Everything shattered and in disarray.

Ofelia FINALLY tells Val she is worthy, far too late.

"He screams, then stumbles… and loses his balance. He drops to the floor". An ominous note as yet another shoe drops.

Thanks Kat, that was an excellent recap. At first I liked Hijas better but now I feel anxious for the next show in this. I am glad Tino already knew Emi wasn’t his. I was thinking he took the news calmly. I have seen Tino in two other shows, both where he is a dad. He’s always a great one.

I feel that Fed did give Emi that same medicine as Tino took. Demaso mentioned coma when he and Fed were talking. He didn’t mention seizures, or if he did I don’t remember, or couldn’t translate!

I don’t see Facundo as a child molester. Of course I could be wrong. I wouldn’t have believed Guzman capable of it but he’s sure trying.


Kat, you are a trooper! Two teeth pulled and you go on. Then I read about a hip replacement that you’re not ready to do but you still do a lot of walking. I have heard hip replacements are easier than knees but don’t think I know anyone that had one. I guess you could ask the doctor about time off from driving.

I am off the oxy-stuff and just doing Tylenol. So far it’s been fine. Trying to increase my walking everyday. Thanks everyone for the healing thoughts and prayers. These telenovelas are a lifesaver. And the blog too!

Liz, I refused the controlled pain killer for my teeth. They were 2 back molars in the same side. Last night was a bit rough as I tried to only take Tylenol twice. Learned that lesson so I'll take it every 8 hours today.

Jarifa has a good point about the Telenovela doldrums. Hijas definitely is in that category currently. Papas keeps changing things up at least. I may have seen the actress that plays Bertha in Marea de Passiones. Was she the mother of the guy playing Juan in hijas. Other than that I have seen none of them before to my knowledge. The kids are all pretty good actors.

Good luck on your recovery. Sounds like you are making progress.
 

OT

Kat, a friend told me to stay ahead of the pain. She’s had 5 major surgeries and said to take the medicine as directed and rest and the healing will be easier. This was probably my first major surgery and I was surprised at what they expect you to be doing by day 2! I did save the strong stuff for nighttime as they give you a very limited amount. I decided I’d rather sleep through nights than wake up to take the every six hour Tylenol.

Kat, I had a wisdom tooth pulled years ago. the dentist gave me a prescripcion but I didn’t feel any pain and we left to visit family 500 miles away. I left the prescripcion at home and ended up with the worse pain ever. My mother-in-law gave me something that lasted four hours, then the pain would return. It would wake me up at night.

When Paula made that comment to Mar about Val now knowing how Arturo feels I was sure Mar would have a lightbulb moment. Of course, Leo’s just as bad as he knows Paula did this and it’s destroying his dad and the family.

Ofelia still puts too much on beauty. As that’s what she says to make Val feel better. But Val did an excellent job of rescuing the event with her talk.

If Nick leaves the country I don’t see this clothing line taking off with just Arturo in charge. Although Luis may be at death’s door so plans might change.

I've heard a lot of actors say they are very tired after long days of crying/ screaming/ etc... even if it's just pretend. The brain knows it's not true, but the heart doesn't. They are emotionally exhausteur and unable to disconnect from their characters.
Cantu must be getting tired with Luis' screaming, but the one who has yto be absolutely exhausted is the actress playing Camila.
