#53 Bolillo is told to stand down because Humberto has come to see Ed. Ed and his father-in-law have a nice talk and embrace.

The Four Musketeers are together again: Gloria, Yadira, Laura, and Ramona. Yadira explains about half of the money being gone because of her brother. She’s in a state, goes into the bathroom, but does flush the drugs from the backpack.

Miguel steals some other kid’s phone and calls his mother. Laura promises to come for him. Aargh. These $%^$# writers won’t let us even enjoy that. One of the youthful drug dealers finds the phone after Miguel drops in and rats him out. Art threatens to have Laura killed.

Ed has driven off before Bolillo can get back into the house. I remember him stealing the keys to that apartment long ago.

Gloria arrives for the meeting with the ridiculous Nacho, who’s all dressed up and perfumed to be the galán of this telenovela. He kisses her hand. He says she’s amazing, but she can’t be a queen without a king. She isn’t buying what he’s selling. He does what he told Duque he’d do. He blames everything that’s happened to her on Duque. He also says Duque has been stealing from him. [What? How’s he going to explain Duque keeping his job? And, if he kills him off, he’d be down a pretty crafter operator.]

Jacinto has a hissy fit and pushes Rocio on the floor. The writers try to make us wonder if Little Jacinto is gone, but it doesn’t seem so.

I still don’t understand Nacho’s plan. At first, I thought Duque was the one who wanted Torres killed with Gloria’s gun bearing her fingerprints. But we were shown that Nacho knew about it. Why does he want her accused of killing Ed if he wants her for himself?

Ed is visiting his son’s grave. They try to tug on my heartstrings, but this whole novela has been jerking me around. Bolillo shoots him. Ed snarls at Bolillo, pulls a gun and finishes off Bolillo (at long last). He calls her to say he loves her. Duque and a thug whose name I don't know approach. Ed is defiant and tells Duque that Gloria is too much yegua (a mare) for him and she’s going to tear him into little pieces. Duque finishes Ed off.
Martin arrives at Yadira’s former home. Looks like he’s brought the money along. She points a gun at him. She jabbers on for about 10 minutes or so. Martin finally lunges for her. It looks like she shot him in the family jewels. [Where’s Perrón and the body disposal crew when you need them?]

Laura tells Ramonia about maybe having a thing for Fercho.

Nacho finds out Ed is dead. He isn’t giving up on Gloria. He says Bolillo could be more useful dead than alive and help in trapping Gloria.

1.) RIP Ed: It was nice knowing you, but this was NOT going to be resulting in a happily ever after for him & Gloria. I wasn't shocked when Duque killed him.

2.) Guess this means Ed's daughter will be raised by relatives.

3.) The obsession with Gloria will probably include 784+ characters.

4.) No Mooching Erna & Triggered Luisa ?

5.) Wake me up when Laura finally gets whacked.

6.) What's Nacho's angle in all of this ?

7.) Creepy Martin is just that: Creepy!

8.) At least Ed finally killed Billio off before eventually dying.

9.) Gut feeling Mauricio's up to no good.

10.) Still don't like Ramoma: she's just too damn annoying.

11.) Jackass Art needs to go down too.

12.) Who's going to become Gloria's next shining knight ?

Gracias, Novelera. "... the ridiculous Nacho, who’s all dressed up and perfumed to be the galán of this telenovela" - lol!

Although Torres and Gloria didn't wow me as a couple, it's depressing to see Torres go. I'm not looking forward to Gloria dealing with the narcos all on her own.

How in blazes will Mati and Gloria keep little Amanda from losing it?

Best part of the epi: Yadi shoots Martin. At last!
Not looking forward to Gloria going it alone without Torres.

Thanks, novelera, for the Thursday recap. I just watched it last night. I’m going to watch Friday’s ep this morning and have the recap posted later today.

Sorry, not sorry about Ed. Gloria can do better. I only feel sorry for Amanda. Absolutely not sorry about Bolillo. I can’t think of a better fate for Martin.

“I still don’t understand Nacho’s plan… Why does he want her accused of killing Ed if he wants her for himself?” Me neither, but maybe his plan is to trap her so she will need him to “save” her?

Dondi356: Nacho will get his comeuppance in the end.

jefa #54 part 1

Satisfying rewind of Yadi shooting Martin in the cojones. [Duque should count himself lucky, he only lost two fingers.]

Luisa makes a house call to conduct business with Jacinto. He tells her he didn’t fly to CDMX because he had to take care of Rocio. Luisa and I are surprised that Jacinto cares about the baby and is kind of excited to become a father.

Martin shouts at Yadi—I’ll kill you! She tells him he got what he deserved—he’s castrated. She stuffs a rag in his mouth, leaves him a stack of bills, the phone, and grabs the rest of the money he stole.

There’s a commotion outside the salon, a woman comes in screaming—there’s a dead body outside! Call the police! Witnesses tell Laura and Ramona a truck came by and dumped a body. There’s a sign on the body, “if you’re not with Duque, you’re dead.” Laura kicks the body over and, gasp, it’s Bolillo!

A cemetery worker finds Ed’s body.

Before leaving, Yadi tells Martin she’s leaving money so he can smooth things over with the police and the phone so he call an ambulance. She adds, and don’t think of accusing me. She’s blackmailing him with his drug business. She took pictures for proof. Yadi leaves and Martin calls an ambulance.

Nacho raves about Gloria to a jealous Debora. Debora doesn’t get what’s so great about Glo. Nacho sits next to Deb and states, it’s true what they say, a woman’s worst enemy is another woman. Deb asks, is she going to work for you? Not yet, Nacho replies, but she will. She’ll be back on her own, you’ll see.

Nacho asks Deb to move in closer. She misunderstands. All he wants to know is if his cologne smells good. Do you think Gloria liked it? Irked Deb answers, it’s very sophisticated, I don’t know if she’d appreciate it. Nacho presses for a better response. No offense, boss, Deb says, but you’re acting like a lovesick teen.

Laura has become very tiring with her dramatics. She tells Ramona, I can’t take any more of these tragedies. Bolillo was no saint, but he didn’t deserve to die and be thrown on the sidewalk. [says who, Laura.] Laura remembers that Bolillo was locked up. How was he killed? Ramona wants to call Glo and Ed.

Mauricio comes to the salon. He asks, will you keep telling me this business has nothing to do with narcos? Ramona denies it. Did you see the deceased working here? Mau flashes the sign left with Bolillo. It’s from a cartel we are investigating, he says.

Gloria shows up and asks Mau why he’s there. Just doing my job, he answers. You just got out and the bodies are piling up. She warns him about tossing out accusations. He wonders how she got released. Meanwhile, Mau’s sidekick, Dario, plants a bug in a lamp and leaves.

jefa #54 part 2

Mau asks Glo to stop wasting time and cooperate before Glo or one of her friends turns up murdered. Glo denies having anything to do with the cartels. We cut to Esther and Dario in a nearby truck (?), listening to what’s happening at the salon. Esther thinks Mau is wasting his time, he won’t get anything out of Gloria by being nice. The only way to get info is by working for Gloria. [I guess that means Esther will go to work for Glo.]

Nacho is on the phone to a narco in Cali, Colombia, trying to set up a partnership. He tells the guy he will help him conquer the American market. The Cali narco is resistant. He works alone. We see someone, played by Mauricio Henao, listening to this convo.

Yadi tries to wash blood off her shoes while she replays her exchange with Martin. A man walks by and offers her drugs. She walks away.

Amanda talks to her grandpa. She asks him when he will visit. Humberto tells her he will be there soon, he got permission from her dad. [I really like this girl playing Amanda.]

A cop brings Humberto the bad news about Ed.

Yadi goes to an NA meeting. She raises her hand to share, and Gael walks in as she starts. My name is Yadira Castro and I’m an addict. Drugs just took my mother and brother from me. Despite being clean for a while, drugs are killing me, too.

Bocho tells Mati that today is his last day working for them. He’s going back to Mexico on Estrada’s orders. Erna is alarmed they will be without protection. Mati says let’s wait to hear what Gloria says. Dani wonders if they will have to move.

The confrontation at the salon continues. Ramona claims Mau has been harassing them. Glo wants to know who released Bolillo. Who killed him? Mau warns, one more slip up and I’m taking you three to jail. Glo tries calling Ed.

Mau goes to the truck to listen in on the salon. Gloria is worried about Ed. He said he’d be home but he’s not answering his phone. Nino put Bolillo in jail. How did he end up here? Mau orders Dario to find out how Bolillo got out. The ladies ask Glo why is Duque threatening you like this? She answers that Duque likes to torture her ever since they killed JJ. Laura thinks Bolillo was killed so he couldn’t snitch. Gloria ends the discussion, we have to put our hearts into making this business successful, okay?

Humberto calls Gloria. She worries, is this about Eduardo? Did something happen? He says, I don’t know how to tell you this….

Mau gets word that Ed is dead. Forensics sent a pic of Ed from the morgue. Esther thinks this was Duque’s doing but this was personal, not business related. Mau tells Esther to make Glo think she’s out on parole. He mentions that the murder weapon was found at the scene, and it’s being analyzed.

Yadi continues sharing. Gael is listening intently. I don’t have anyone else to fight for, she says. My mother was hooked on painkillers. If we try to overcome this for somebody else, we are going to fail. Why do we put the weight of our recovery on another person? We have to do it for ourselves. Gael smiles and he joins the group in applauding Yadi.

Rocio pukes in the bathroom and both Jacinto and Luisa are disgusted. Luisa warns him about the public finding out about his situation.

jefa #54 part 3

Gael and Yadi talk after the meeting. He heard her speak about her brother and mother. He’s sorry. He asks, how are you? Life goes on, she replies, but it’s nice to see you again. She turns to go and he reaches out. He sees blood on her arm. She tells him it might be hair dye from the salon. She adds, we shouldn’t talk or see each other. I don’t want you to have trouble with your wife. Gael confesses he’s not married. He made it up.

Glo leaves a message for Ed. Judge Ramos asked me to meet him. Did you ask him to deliver a message? He refused to say anything over the phone. Gloria panics. Humberto arrives and says he’s sorry. He couldn’t tell her over the phone. Eduardo is dead.

This can’t be true, Glo replies, it’s a trick. He planned this because of the people who want us dead. I wish it was that, Humberto says, but no, Eduardo is dead. I went to the morgue and saw his body myself. Glo cries, please, I need to be with him. I need to hold him.

Humberto tells her that Ed was killed in front of his son’s grave. He told me he was going to say goodbye because he was leaving with you. He told me he was going to propose to you over a special dinner. Gloria sinks and cries.

Gael admits he made up a marriage because he wanted revenge and to keep Yadi away. He wanted to save himself more humiliation. He adds, but I never stopped thinking about you. You don’t know how I dreamed of this moment, Yadi replies, I never stopped thinking about you. But when you told me you were married, I was crushed. You let me down, he explains, not because of the online pictures, or social media. What hurt was catching you with Martin.

Yadi fires back—I was set up by Martin. He tried to rape me. If I didn’t say anything before, it was because I was ashamed and I didn’t want to lose you. Let’s do something, Gael offers. We’re both addicts and we know the manual by heart. I propose you and I take it one day at a time. Yadi tells him that he broke her heart, and she leaves.

Duque catches Debora drowning her sorrows with alcohol. He tells her she has to see how the boss is obsessed with another woman. She replies, you get the benefit by being my consolation prize. And that’s all you get. I neither want nor expect more than that, he answers. Deb says they are the same, they will never have what we want. You’re wrong, Duque counters, I’m not the one obsessed with someone who will never see me that way. He strokes her arm and kisses her shoulder.

Humberto brings Glo to the morgue to see Ed. She wants a minute alone with Ed. Flashbacks, whatever. She swears to avenge his death. Duque will pay. Wow, Nacho is viewing this on a laptop. Glo begs for more time with Dead Ed. Humberto has to drag her out, shouting and crying. Nacho lowers the lid of his laptop down in anger. [I thought about closing mine, too. I didn’t care for Ed and Glo together and I’m not impressed with them separately either.]

jefa #54 part 4

Nacho vents to Duque about how Gloria raised her voice to him in his own house. But still, he refers to Gloria as a “hembrota”, a hottie. Don’t worry, Duque replies, her attitude won’t last. Like you said, as soon as the police accuse her of Torres’ death, it’s over. That wild animal with come begging to you with her tail between her legs.

Nacho says, I’ll wait, but we must be careful. Glo bought the story that there’s trouble between us. We have to keep faking. Duque agrees. But Nacho warns him, I think you need to watch your back. Gloria had enough reason to hate you. Now that Torres is dead, she might show up to take your whole arm.

Mau is at the police station and the analysis of Ed’s murder weapon comes in. The tests show 100% that the fingerprints are Gloria Guzman’s.

Humberto wants to take Glo to a doctor. At least let me call someone for you, one of your friends, he says. You shouldn’t be alone. She sobs and doesn’t answer. She enters the house and tells Humberto that she needs time alone to accept Ed is dead. Humberto says this is a tragedy they all have to live with… you, me, Amanda. Glo replies, how will I tell her? Humberto says he will do it as her grandfather.

Yadi returns to the salon with the money. Ramona asks, Martin had it? How’d you get it back? Yadi replies, I castrated him. I shot him between the legs. I paid him back for all his abuse. Paid him back for my family. Let’s see if he keeps ruining women’s lives.

Esther tells Dario and Mau that Glo would never kill Ed. I was there when they saw each other in prison. She was in love. Dario asks, but the fingerprints and initials on the gun? Esther thinks it makes more sense that Duque killed Ed. Ed was in danger and Glo was trying to save him. So much so that she considered snitching on Estrada. Mau says anything is possible, but there’s enough evidence to put out a warrant for Gloria.

Ramona says Martin got what he deserved. Yadi swears that she’s not bowing her head before anyone anymore. Naïve Yadi is gone. Humberto shows up at the salon and introduces himself to the ladies. I left Gloria at her house and wanted to let you know she needs help. I just accompanied her to identify my SIL’s body. Eduardo was murdered. The ladies are stunned.

Glo walks through the house and recalls memories of her and Ed. She finds the ring. More flashbacks. Lots of tears.

And we are out.

First off, sorry about the anonymous recap of Thursday's show. My desktop computer keeps trying to upgrade to a new version of Windows. It's messed things up, including Blogger. Miracle of miracles, I got my identity back. Guess you all figured out it was me anyway.

Just a splendid recap, dondi. Sooo many great asides, especially "Duque should count himself lucky he only lost two fingers.".

Insofar as being surprised Jacinto cares about the baby, narcissists may think of a child as evidence of their "potency".

Dare we hope Martín bled out?

Laura couldn't recognize Bolillo without turning him over after two years together?

I thought all along that Mauricio Henao would be the big narco. I didn't comment about it, not wanting to spoil anyone's surprise. Now it seems he's a good guy.

I agree on the little actor playing Amanda. She's got good range, from being a victim of her BSC mother to a contented child in Los Angeles.

Hmmm. I thought that in AA and NA they only used first names. Yadira used her whole name.

Humberto unintentionally rubbed salt in Gloria's wounds by mentioning the surprise proposal dinner.

These writers have ruined Débora's role. I liked her at first, getting in digs at Duque and being the right-hand of Nacho. Now she's slept with Duque and tried it on with Nacho. Plus, she's classic jealous telenovela woman now.

This whole thing about the fingerprints baffles me. They aren't even smudged after both Duque and Bolillo gripped the gun? Yes, I noticed the gloves, but Bolillo looked like a scared child gripping the gun in Ed's house.

Yadi's telling Martin she had photos of his drugs might work, but I think she'd have been better off finishing him off.

jefa

Happy Mothers’ Day to all you mothers out there.

Thanks, novelera. You make a very good point about narcissist Jacinto. What surprised me most is that he seemed surprised and perplexed about how he felt. He stated, “I have feelings, too.”

I thought the same thing when Laura and Ramona didn’t recognize or suspect it was Bolillo on the ground.

So now Debora will have it in for Gloria.

I don’t get why Gloria is so desirable and everyone thinks she’s badass. She’s no Teresa Mendoza.

jefa

Comment of the Year, dondi: "She's no Teresa Mendoza"

jefa

Gracias, Dondi. Fine recap. Looks like my original comment fell into the abyss. ITA with you and Novelera on Amanda.
