Juegos #56 part 1
Enrique is rushed to the hospital in I think Roberto's police SUV.
Luci is telling Dani his vision was an effect of whatever drug the psychiatrist gave him. Chofis comes in and turns on the news about the shooting. Luci rushes to the hospital.
German speaks with Mariana in the jail. He asks who beat her up. She is afraid to say. She wants German to keep Memo away. She says it's all Enrique's fault. German is confused and tells her she needs to come clean if he has any hope of helping her.
The other candidate whose name I've never bothered to learn, is listening to a recording of the beating where Mariana says she knows nothing. His assistant rushes in with news of the shooting.
Adrian is scoring some pills from a classmate at school in the bathroom. His driver is outside waiting and tells him about the attempt on dad's life.
Enrique is wheeled into the ER in bad shape. Francisco is talking to the hitman who wants his money. Francisco is like are you crazy, I'm not paying you for screwing up. He does some BP pills. Memo rushes up. Are you ok? How can I be ok with this disaster. Leave me alone.
One of the campaign workers wants Ines to talk to the reporters she says I'm in no shape have Karina do it. He informes her K quit. Adrian arrives. Roberto walks up.and Adrian insults him. Roberto asks are you drugged? Ines runs interference as usual.
Luci and Pato aren't as lucky getting into the hospital as the reporters swarm them. Pato does a good job deflecting the questions.
Roberto tells Adrian he was there at his dad's request to talk about his mother's involvement. His job was to assist anyone who is injured and trying to save him( a dig at Adrian) Francisco says he's practically your father in law. R says nobody is above the law and I will do my job. Luci and Pato arrives and she asks how is my padrino. Adrian and Ines look at her with loathing.
Q and R talk at the precinct. R wonders what Joaquin was doing at the rally during working hours.
R gets a text from an unknown caller asking him to meet her at the cafeteria Sultan. She has info about the CC case. He asks q if he wants to go?
Enrique is okay. Francisco tells him the attempt will actually help his image.
German and Ines discuss Mariana and the beating. It seems Berta is supposed to be keeping her safe. German says Memo is at the root of it all. Ines sees Karina arrive.

Juegos #56 part 2
Ines grabs Karina and tells her to stay away from my man. She mentions how she turned in her own sister, so taking care of K is simple. Memo stops around a corner when he hears his mother mentioned. Karina is routed. Memo catches up to Ines and asks her you turned in my mom?
German, getting a coffee, gets the cold shoulder from Pato. He goes to check on his dad. German asks Luci what's up. She says he's worried about Enrique and excuses herself.
Pato tells dad he should resign from running. Enrique says this country needs me and my values. Pato just stares and shakes his head.
Natalia calls Luci. She's discovered some key information. An anonymous digital information company, run by some guy they've been investigating, ingeniero Ibarra, is involved in business all around the country with important people, including Enrique's campaign.
Pato is worried about Adrian. Enrique is like now what stupid thing has he done. Pato thinks he needs professional help. E then asks how the Fevarre company is doing. Pato says there is a guy in the photos, ingeniero Ibarra. Ah yes, augustin Ibarra. He's an important man. He's working for me now. I first met him when he worked with Luci's dad.
The guy they are meeting (don't know why I thought it was a gal) is an old friend of Q's, Sapien. Maestro Sapien to you, Q. He tells them the papers he's been asked to authenticate is no more than ten years old, and the CC case happened 20 years back.
Pato gets more info from Enrique about Augustin. He says your grandfather is friends with him and bought him in. He's a freelancer. He worked for us about 18 months at the start up. Ines comes in and Pato tells her I suggested dad withdraw. Ines says he's at the point of winning, he's not quitting. Pato says take care and leaves.
Ines accuses Enrique of having ulterior motives. She just kicked K out. Why didn't you tell me she resigned.
German and Memo discuss his mom's case. Memo thinks her best bet is to get a new lawyer.
Ines and Enrique fight some more. He asks are you going to divorce me. We are at the point of getting all we wanted.
Karina calls R about Gaby. I think it's about who picks her up. He gets back to Q and Maestro Sapien. The plan is to reopen the CC case using the same judge that sentenced Mariana.

Omar and Susy talk. Looks like Omar still needs closure on who killed his son.
Pato is very astute. My grandfather formed the company. The ingeniero started his own company soon after. Luci can't believe he could be guilty ( we've heard this song before).
Adrian is with Enrique who is telling him to quit crying. This is all your fault. Adrian hears Pato's voice telling him to do the right thing
Gaby is brought to FF's place by the babysitter. Luci is there. She tells Gaby dad has to work. Gaby goes to her room.
Natalia and Manalo discuss the case. Francisco was all for finding the truth ( via the false information). Manalo says that third disc has what we need, if only Fabiola could tell us where it is. Fabiola comes into the room and sits and looks through the papers. Natalia offers her a lollipop. Manalo says this is the first time she has left her room.
Berta and Francisco talk. Not exactly sure the gist of this conversation but the shooting was part of it. Some police department will be put in charge of the investigation .He tells her she is not at his level, she reminds him she is an employee that knows all his secrets.
So the guy investigating is Brita. He talks to Enrique. Enrique alludes to his enemies wanting to off him, as in his political rival I think. German is there for the bedside interview. He looks pensive after Enrique tells his story.
Victoria is at Joachin's bedside. She gathers her resolve and pretends to love him. She wants another chance. She mentions that Brita is in charge of the investigation. Tell me the truth. I wonder if Joachin has a history with Brita.
Pato is getting all archived tapes, I think, from the Fevarre company. German confronts him. Why are you avoiding me?
The hired gun I at Fermin's bedside unpacking a duffel bag. Fermin accuses him of screwing up, I think. At any rate if Enrique has died it seems he could care less, he killed my wife by driving her to suicide. Hired gun says he was just a child. The real story is she had a liver who made her get an abortion and that's what killed her. Her lover was Francisco. Her story is in these letters, as he gives Fermin a packet.
Gaby is being mean to Luci. Roberto returns and she's mean to him also. Luci asks what's wrong. Not sure exactly what she says at first, but she finishes with it's true. Mom says you and she kissed.

A.MAR Capítulo 14 Notes from the Couch . . . . Parte 1
Sergio Guilty of Manslaughter and Murder?
Estrella tells Fabián he has a loose screw later in this episode but the character who REALLY has a loose screw is Sergio. Beatriz cannot stop laughing at Sergio. She is not the one who cannot have a child. It is the all powerful Sergio who is sterile. Since all he wants is control of the Alfa Pacífico company, she suggests that they continue on as planned. She can still be his wife and she will have the baby. Nobody has to know it is not his. He damns her, grabs her by the chin and pushes her away from him. She falls and hits her head on the ground. She is unconscious. Rather than go to her aid, he calls Juanjo. Juanjo sees Beatriz on the ground and checks her for a pulse. There is none. An overwrought hard-drinking Sergio tells Juanjo that he doesn't know what happened. He found out that stupid Beatriz had cheated on him and was pregnant with another man's child. They were arguing He doesn't know who the man is but is puts Juanjo in charge of finding him and bringing him to him. Nobody makes fun of Sergio Falcón. As for his current predicament, he tells Juanjo that he never was where he is. Juanjo says here are security cameras. He tells Juanjo that he pays him to take care of things like this. He tells him to talk to attorney Montoya who will be able to help them with his contacts. They will need a forensics expert who can declare that this was an accident. Juanjo tells Sergio he needs to leave now. He staggers out.
Later, Juanjo tells Sergio that everything is under control. They erased the recordings from all of the security cameras from his house. Nobody saw him come in or leave. They also paid off a high level official and an expert who are the ones in charge of corroborating that Beatriz's death was an accident.
In an attempt to save his own skin, Juanjo has delivered Beatriz's yoga instructor to Sergio. Juanjo says has proof that they were lovers for a long time. The instructor is tied to a chair and gagged. He looks like he has already been beaten up. Sergio starts to punch him, then asks for the gun. He points it at the instructor's head.

A.MAR Parte 2
EVERYTHING ELSE
Estrella tells Erika that she no longer has any feelings for Azul's father. She was an innocent small-town girl when she met him in Mexico City and was stupid to fall in love with him like she did. He never felt anything of her. She tells her how he offered to pay for her abortion ane disappeared. She never wants him again in her life.
Iker asks Azul if she is curious about her father. If his mother were alive, he'd like to find out more about her. Azul thinks that maybe someday she will learn more about him.
In tears, Erika tells Estrella how she fears losing Fabián and being all alone. She doesn't have a family to support her like Estrella does. Rosalba was never any kind of a mother to her. The two years with Fabián were the best years of her life. Suddenly everything changed. She feels like there has to be another woman. Estrella suggests she go and ask Fabián. Erika is afraid of what the answer could be. If Fabián didn't want her, she could take her own life. Estrella tells her not to talk like that.
Fabián cancels the fine due to the fact that the no fishing restriction had been the result of Porfirio receiving an incorrect weather report. He didn't want Estrella to fell like they were out to get her. She has a hard time believing that and tells him to put the fine money against her debt. Even though she knows it is none of her concern, she tries to put in a good word for Erika who is depressed over her situation with him. Fabián agrees that it is none of her concern. She says she would hate for his relationship with Erika to be destroyed because of some sort of confusion . Fabián makes it clear that he is not confused at all. He cannot stop thinking about her. Estrella tells him to stop saying those things. He says that he knows that she feels the same way about him, too. The rest of their interactions in the episode are the same. Fabián wants Estrella to recognize that she is just as attracted to him as he is to her. She reminds him that Erika is her best friend and is in love with him. She will NEVER fall in love with him. He tells her that her eyes do not know how to lie.
Rosalba tries to poison Erika against Estrella sayig that Estrella is after Fabián.
Fabián has no idea that Yazmín skipped her first day at her new school to spend it drugged-up and in bed with Javier at Erika's hotel.
Gabriel and Marina arrive at the island. Marina has to admit that some of it seems familiar. She goes up to the house which is totally destroyed. She sees a door and is transported to the past. She hears a baby cry and sees herself pregnant in a nursery. She picks up a baby blanket that has the name NICO embroidered on it. She opens the door and outside is an old crib turned on its side. The blanket with NICO on it is there, too. She tells Gabriel that she had a son NIco. Where could her son be? Gabriel holds her as she cries and is sure they will find her son. He says it should be easy enough to find out who owns the property.That could facilitate things.Marina concludes it was a bad idea coming here. He reminds her that the important thing is that she is starting to remember. It starts to rain is very windy. Gabriel concludes it is too dangerous for them to sail back home. They will have to spend the night on the island. He radios Fabián who tells Brisa. She is furious.
Rosalba and Erika pay Meche and Estrella a visit. Rosalba is so angry that Meche and her daughters are doing well in spite of Ulises being found dead and with a prostitute that she literally starts to shake. Meche notices it. Rosalba says it must be that her sugar is too high. Meche ells Erik to watch out for her mother's sugar.
FINALLY, Brisa tells Pascual that she is never gong to be interested in him like he wants her to be. She is interested in somebody else.
Meche tells Estrella that Rosalba's visit made her realize that she cannot condemn Ulises because of one mistake. She will remember all of the years when he was the exemplary husband and father instead.

Jarifa, thank you for another outstanding recap! You organized the explanation of the events perfectly and your insight is spot on as always.
Gabriel and Marina "will have to spend the night on the island". Now we're talkin'! 😊 Gabriel is a quiet, calming supportive presence. Not to mention easy on the eyes. What a burned out shell of a house. It looks like the house was targeted and decimated. Can't wait to find out the backstory.
Truth be told, I was completely lost in the torture scene so I truly appreciate all of your details. While Sergio is a monster, Juanjo is a spineless worm. He felt badly for Beatriz for a heartbeat yet pulled himself togetgher with blind loyalty, helping Sergio cover his tracks and sate his quest for vengeance by bringing an innocent victim into the madness.
"Rosalba is so angry that Meche and her daughters are doing well in spite of Ulises being found dead and with a prostitute that she literally starts to shake". Erika never had a chance. Such vitriolic hatred.

Gabriel and Marina "will have to spend the night on the island". Now we're talkin'! 😊 Gabriel is a quiet, calming supportive presence. Not to mention easy on the eyes. What a burned out shell of a house. It looks like the house was targeted and decimated. Can't wait to find out the backstory.
Truth be told, I was completely lost in the torture scene so I truly appreciate all of your details. While Sergio is a monster, Juanjo is a spineless worm. He felt badly for Beatriz for a heartbeat yet pulled himself togetgher with blind loyalty, helping Sergio cover his tracks and sate his quest for vengeance by bringing an innocent victim into the madness.
"Rosalba is so angry that Meche and her daughters are doing well in spite of Ulises being found dead and with a prostitute that she literally starts to shake". Erika never had a chance. Such vitriolic hatred.

It looks like things are going to get even worse for Karsu.
Atilla did a diplomatic job of deflecting Filiz’s questions about Karsu, particularly considering she’d told him he needed a glow-up, and needed to lose the glasses and oh by the way your place is a mess. But I thought he didn’t do so well with his advice to Karsu, wondering why it bothered her so much that Tilsim preferred her dad – she’s just a girl. But the guy cheated on her, his lover was there with him, and worst of all Tilsim said No te quiero!
I did think we got a glimmer of hope the episode before when Tilsim realized her mother was hurting, and also was puzzled why her mom was so upset with her best friend. Of course Reha waved all that off.
And Filiz in the shop! It was a hoot that the shop owner decided he had to go run an errand to escape her. Poor Karsu! Filiz was really in full bloom this episode.

I enjoyed the shop scene also. The two talking to their respective lawyers was a good way of telling both sides.
The maid gets let go for Feliz to save a bit of money. No available babysitter when the adults want to do their thing. Feliz needs to tighten her belt and stop getting beauty treatments if she can't afford to repair things in her rental property when they break.

I’m thinking Filiz is starting to have financial troubles. Wasn’t that a high power bill the property manager was showing her? Reha has paid her hospital bill, but who is paying for everybody’s food? I have the feeling she was able to coast along paying household help and having some beauty treatments before Karsu and her kids arrived, but now things are getting tight. Wouldn’t be a kick if she had to get a job too?

Thanks for the fine comments, Kat, Maggie, and Babachita. It seems we can have a small community without recaps. This is kind of a relief since I've done so many on Telemundo.
So...is this a Turkish thing? People just drop in all the time? My friends and family know better. I HATE people dropping in. Privacy is a big thing for me. I noticed Atilla looked toward heaven and gave a big sigh after Feliz's last visit. She really is insufferable a goodly amount of the time. She cost the poor secondhand store owner a decent sale with her behavior. I wondered if there's more to the animosity between Feliz and this guy than a bad purchase she could not return.
The two conversations with lawyers were SO illuminating. Reha lied his teeth off to his, saying he loved his wife and IIRC not admitting to infidelity. Karsu told hers that Reha was going to make things difficult.
Pulling Tilsim out of school and planning to enroll her in another without telling Karsu was outrageous!
I went through the kid returning scenario myself. My son decided to move back to CA after many years in Arizona. He and his wife, my granddaughter, a teenager, and two dogs moved into my 2-bedroom house until they could find work and rent a place. I spent a few evenings at the public library to get away from them! And, yes, the utility bills went through the roof. No need to heat the house during the day when I was at work and then... It took them around 3 months to get established.

1. Goofy Brisa thinks that Marina planned getting stranded on the island with Gabriel. Perla asks if she planned the storm with her mermaid powers. Brisa insists on trying to radio Gabriel. Problems: Gabriel isn't in his boat where the radio is and the storm is preventing communication via radio. She doesn't care anyway. She talks into the void over the microphone. Duh!
2. Fabián thinks that being stubborn is in Brisa's blood. He smiles and looks at Estrella.
3. Marina finds a mermaid pendant that looks just like her mermaid tatoo. It is engraved with "Always together." She has so many question and no answers but she is sure destiny wanted Gabriel to find her. It was his pleasure because she is a marvelous woman. They almost kiss and both of them apologize. They agree that nothing happened. The next morning they leave for the mainland.
4. Sergio's father tells him to take the time off that he needs after Beatriz's death. Sergio doesn't want to believe he is sterile and doesn't like that his father will be the head of the company indefinitely as he "recuperates" from Beatriz's death. He just keeps drinking now not by the glass but directly out of the decanter!
5. Bad news: Granny Gertrudis is in the emergency room at death's door. Yazmín blames her father for making her grandmother ill because he killed her mother and took her away. She refuses to let her father take her to the hospital to see her granny but will go with Gonzalo. Fabián tells Gonzalo that he will pay Gertrudís' bills because she spent herself into poverty trying to get custody of Yazmín back. Gertrudís dies. Fabián will pay for the funeral , too, but he doesn't want Yazmín to know. He is not going to the funeral as to not make Yazmín uncomfortable. Gonzalo goes instead to support her.
6. Estrella voices her concerns to her mother about Azul wanting to find out more about her father . Meche says it is normal. Azul is growing up. Estrella is worried she will want to meet him. Meche says there are things she just cannot control in this life. Estrella tells her mother the sordid details of her romance with Sergio.

Estrella asks who was she talking to? Azul won't say. Estrella knows she is lying. Azul's phone rings and it is Sergio. Estrella answers and tells him he has the wrong number. Sergio thinks somebody calling him and saying she was his daughter had to be a prank call.
Estrella lectures her daughter about lying and tells her that contacting her father is nothing to play with. She is to do nothing like that again unless she consults her first.

He could not take care of his daughter or himself for a couple weeks asked her maternal grandmother to take care of her. When he went back, he had lost custody. He was under a restraining order and couldn't see his daughter. His daughter thought he had abandoned her and now she hates him. He is afraid that she will never forgive him. Estrella says what he did was an act of love for his daughter. He wants to be there for his daughter. Estrella says to give his daughter time. She grabs his hands ot comfort him.

Can Estrella trust Azul to not call her father again since she never mentioned Erika's name as the person who got her his private phone number in the first place. Will Erika have more influence over her than Estrella? I had to laugh with Valentín pledging his loyalty to Pascual in finding out who Perla is interested in when he seems ot be interested in her himself.

I swear I've seen more than one or two stifled smiles from Pedro/Gabriel as "goofy" Brisa natters on and on, jealousy and resentment clearly evident. You're right of course in that there is no chemistry there, however, Gabriel and Marina's longing looks sizzle and spark.
I wonder who Marina's partner/husband was? I liked the "always together' pendant. A mysterious, intriguing past yet to be uncovered.
Fabian's vulnerability in tellling Estrella about his past was touching.
Valentín and Pascual popping up from the side of the boat to confront Oliver and Perla was another smile inducing moment.

Just the highlights.
The bad guys are getting arrested. Joachin and Berta to start. Also the auditor, Ofelia I think is her name.
Mariana is in solitary confinement for her own protection, Berta made that happen and gave her a phone which she used to call Enrique. She still hasn't managed to get Enrique to shut up long enough to tell him that he's Memo's dad. But have no fear. Fermin on his death bed tells Memo the truth.
Memo becomes Enrique's right hand man, demoting German. Mostly given the position so he gives up fighting for his mother. This happened before he learned who his dad is.
Pato breaks it off with German
Gaby listens to Luci and softens up a bit but she still wants her parents back together. Luci is still resisting Roberto. He says Karina kissed me out of nowhere.
Adrian sees Alex and Daniel together. They are both concerned about Clara. A voice message to Daniel with Mateo threatening her then abruptly being cut off they bring to the Dean's attention. I'm not sure what happened before at the architecture class. The dean addressed the students about Mateo but I'm not sure what the end result was. It seemed they found no wrongdoings on his part. Can anyone clarify?
Someone spray painted in red a confess and be free graffiti outside the Ferrer house. Adrian and I es both think it may be about themselves. The guy that did it was likely the reporter from the opposite political camp. He tries to get both of them to give a statement in front of the sign.
Adrian is standing on an overpass. He drops a handful of pills over the side as he has climbed on the railing. I think it is a walking overpass at the school. It looks like he will take a leap. Earlier Enrique and Ines have finally agreed he needs inpatient help. Enrique. Wants Luci to help convince him which causes Ines to have a meltdown about Enrique treating Luci as his daughter. Your daughter died. Gee, I wonder if there is a possibilty he actually is her father since he has proven to be a hound dog. I doubt it, but we know little about Luci's parents except that her dad was a good guy. A good guy would help a girl in trouble and give her child a name. Probably a far fetched idea....

This was a humorous episode. The other funny, sorta, scene was the aquarium trip. 3 to 1 is a tough ratio to keep track of all your kids, especially when Reha has never been responsible for all 3. Losing Deniz, telling 10? year old to stay out with the 3 year old, who wanders off to sit at a different display. I felt Reha's anguish and frustration, even though it was caused by his own negligence. Then to tell Deniz not to tell mom! I hope Deniz spills the beans.

I’m loving all the Karsu comments! This is such a great show and I’m so glad you all are watching and commenting too.
That Filiz is a treat. Her trash-tipping maneuver was a hoot. People were thinking maybe cats did it. Those would be strong cats! Here where I am if barrels are tipped, it’s bears. I live in the LA area, tight against the mountains, the next town over from Pasadena (if you’ve seen the Rose Parade you know what it looks like here), and I get bears in my yard. One was here just the other day, eating my oranges.
I somehow had thought that Filiz owned the other unit and that Attila was her renter. I’m not sure why I thought that.
The nice shop keeper is running out of patience with Karsu’s absences. She got off to such a good start with him, coming late to organize the shop and now it’s looking like she could possibly lose her job.
Does anybody else think his merchandise doesn’t look too appealing?

Well Maggie, the shop is a second hand store so the merchandise will be out of date, damaged, not appealing in the first place.
We are lucky to not have bears, but stray dogs and racoons are an issue. We keep our bones etc in the freezer until it is time for a dump/recycling run every few weeks.

If I heard right, Feliz said something to Attila about coming in and straightening out his place! That could be a disaster. Plus, I didn’t think it was that bad. Maybe that says something about me!
My son and his two boys moved in with me. They were two and six. Now 13 and 16. It’s not easy, but got much harder after I lost my husband. Feliz welcomed them and this was the first time I heard her complain.
That house is nice and it doesn’t seem like she ever worked. Maybe the ex pays her alimony. Her sister doesn’t seem to work either.

Liz, sorry to learn that you lost your husband. I find it easier when family invades if my husband is elsewhere as he can handle them in smaller doses, after a few hours he is worn out. It doesn't help that he is such a hit with the grands. I refused to remain in Colorado for 6 months alone with my kids to finish the school year when my boys were in 9th and 10th grade. Teenage boys I feel need a father's influence in their lives. I could handle his TDY (temporary duty) assignments fine, but dreaded a long term separation so we found a house in Ohio to accommodate us and our 2 dogs and horses very quickly. I figured it would be another 3-4 year assignment ( Air Force). He took 3 different jobs at wright Patterson AFB and then retired in Ohio.We ended up staying in that house 16 years, our middle son is buying it from us as we left 8 1/2 years ago and found a much nicer ( and less expensive house) in SC 30 minutes from our daughter. Her children are the 2 I babysit full time. Our eldest son also moved to SC not long after us so all 5 grandchildren are 30 minutes away from us and each other. It's rewarding for me, but it was easier when the other grandmother provided care 2 days a week. Unfortunately she developed stomach cancer just after the second baby was born so I stepped up and offered to do it full time.
It has been so great to discover this blog and patio to connect with since in a way I'm somewhat house bound.I hope your son helps around the house at least.

Maggie, ITA about all the great comments. Another Californian! It has often seemed to me that Easterners are commoner here on Caray. I live in the Bay Area. I only lived in San Francisco for a couple of months long ago. I'd rented out my house for a month and traveled to Brazil. When I got back the renters pleaded for more time. They'd rented to look for a place to buy where I live. I moved in with a good friend in S.F. as her roommate had just moved away. Of course, I visit often for theater and music.
I'm not as amused by Feliz as some of you are. Other than Feliz saying so, I don't remember anything about the area being badly managed. She's working on kicking another woman out of a job she didn't want at all until she felt some financial pressure. Yes, it's confusing the ownership here. I also thought Feliz owned the place Atilla is renting. It seems like they are condominiums, except maybe with free standing units not attached ones. The long-suffering man Feliz calls all the time also seems to work for the association. At first, I thought he was somehow Feliz's employee.
I agreed with Karsu that Feliz keeping quiet about the paid off hospital bill was very bad. And, of course, it will come up as a plus for Reha when and if this gets to court.
Hmmm. I thought the merch in the store looked better than what you'd find at Goodwill. I have shopped Goodwill for pieces of Halloween costumes. One year I went as Charlie Chaplin and found a man's suit that almost fit. Getting the moustache to stick wasn't easy.
Kat, I'm interested in your stay in Ohio. I am 4th generation in Akron, Ohio, and my brother still lives there. I'd probably never have left if my ex hadn't longed for California because he'd spent time there in the Air Force.

It’s enough to make your teeth hurt. And the baddies are 100% bad and do things so dastardly that I can’t even imagine how the writers come up with their evil doings.
But here the characters are much more nuanced. Filiz obviously is a caution – everyone around her seems wary and exasperated. Still, there’s a touch of comedy to her. But we know she has her wounds – her husband left her for a young woman, maybe her daughter, she’s been estranged from both her daughters, and she’s anxious about her looks. She needs lots of procedures, lots of compliments. But while she pretended to brush off having lost Deniz, secretly she was down at the bus station nightly trying to find him. There’s more to her than she’s allowing other people to see.
And Karsu is not perfect. She has given her mother no thanks for taking them in and disrupting her life. Filiz now has childcare duties and a house full of toys strewn around. Karsu needs to give Tilsim some love and attention. Tilsim has been very clear about saying that’s what she needs, but Karsu isn’t paying attention.
OT – wow you live in the Bay Area! It’s a stunning place. My cousin used to live there (in Alameda) and every time I’d come visit I was blown away by San Francisco’s dramatic beauty. The hills! The bay! The bits of fog here and there! The bridges! It’s such an exciting place.
