TELEMUNDO Y MÁS (#2): Velvet: El Nuevo Imperio, La Jefa, y más: Week of June 2, 2025

TELEMUNDO WEEKEND EDITION (continuación)

Here's Page 2 for the week. The current telenovelas are as follows (all times are Eastern Daylight Time):

9 - 10PM - Velvet: El Nuevo Imperio**
10 - 11PM - La Jefa**

**On Friday, June 6, there is some uncertainty about which novelas will be shown. The Comcast program guide shows Velvet airing at 9 PM and La Jefa at 10 PM, as usual, but Zap2It shows Velvet at 9 PM but La Casa de Los Famosos at 10 PM. My guess is that Comcast has it right, but who knows?

Everyone is welcome to join in the conversation. Since discussions of all the novelas share the same page, please remember to put the name of the telenovela you're referring to at the top of your post, so readers can easily find the conversations they're looking for.

By common agreement, this group DOES NOT discuss previews, trailers, or any other plot information not found in a current or past episode of the current production. Spoilers WILL be removed by the admin. This includes reference to earlier productions of the story, and even the original novel. Thanks for your cooperation!

There was an announcement tonight while I was watching Velvet that said that tomorrow, Friday, June 6, La Casa de Los Famosos would be shown at 10 pm.
I guess that means that there will be no La Jefa this Friday.

"JEFA"
Juanita: Bummer 😔

Novelera, indeed the "big money mule plan" was a bust.

I'm feeling for Laura and I don't remember who's taking care of her son Miguel. Fercho, I guess. No pity for Ramona.

I'm surprised that Jacinto is actually gone. I figured his henchie would save him and he'd be around till the end. Hip hip hooray for Mateo saving Gloria.

Ernestina seems genuinely sad about Jacinto, while Louisa seems genuinely scared to death (that Glo will come for her too?).

Nice to see Yadi in control of herself.

Velvet #14 1/2

We get some backstory about Isabel. Gloria overhears Benjamin and another guy, perhaps his brother, talking about Isabel having a lover, her fingerprints were on the murder weapon. Not sure if she killed the lover. She is pregnant claiming it is Benjamin's, but they want a DNA test to prove it. Benjamin will raise the child if it's his. The lawyer says there is a way. I imagine this is how the marriage to Gloria came about. She is the one having the flashback. She needed to sign a prenup or no marriage.

Max is not Blanca's. He returns the money and admits he lied. He and her real son, Nick , were adopted by a cruel couple. He was always sickly. He found you and knew the story. He got sick though and died. Max after meeting her felt guilty and decided she was a good woman and he needs to change his life around. Blanca is broken, cries that she hates him and runs off

The cute guy, Rodrigo, works on wall Street and is interested in Ana. I think Margarita is as pretty, and she thinks he's cute, it would be nice for her to have a love interest besides Pedro. Ana leaves the bar. He is sad he didn't get her number. Pedro says I can't give it to you, but we were at Velvet and she is a designer there.

Christina drags Ana away for breakfast as she's one of the bosses. She talks a mile a minute about her non night of passion with Alberto. I got drunk. Di you think he is mad at me, he's not answering my calls. Do you think he has another woman. Spy on him and find out for me.

Alesandro, a lawyer perhaps, tells Gloria Isabel is still in jail but he has to pay off the judge. Isabel has been a model inmate, studying, behaving for the past 25 years ( does that mean Alberto and Ana are just 25? ). The math isn't matching if they have been meeting in Miami for 10 years. They each had to have been 18 at least when he was sent to Spain to study. Gloria says so now she is a model prisoner, when we know she is a killer. ale says, no we know she is innocent and saying otherwise doesn't make it true. The two of them framed her.

Emilio gets a call from Isabel. My appeal was denied. I think money changed hands. I just want to see my son before I die.

Raul gives his design presence. Gloria hates it and won't approve it. Valeria votes in favor.

Blanca goes to the workroom and nearly faints. Raul takes her home leaving Margarita in charge

Raul asks for a few hours off from Emilio to take care of something. He has set up.a sting operation and the bad guys get arrested for dealing drugs.

Time to make dinner, will finish later.

Velvet #14 2/2

I half watched it as I cooked so I missed a lot of the second half. Margarita gave Rodrigo Ana's phone number so they have a date. Seems to be at the same bar from the night before. She's not taking care of Emilio very well.

Jennifer is concerned about Blanca, but Blanca is col and dismissive to her. Jennifer leaves and runs into amax in the hall practically in tears at her mother's chronic aloofness. She blames herself. Max comforts her with a hug.

Clara corners Pedro, who is still trying to avoid her, in the apartment building hallway. She asks him what is going on with you. Peter runs up yelling daddy and hugging him, much to her surprise. Then Susan shows up. Seems perhaps they were friends in the past, but like a middle school chum who is your BFF one day, and gossiping behind your back the next. She asks Clara if she's put on weight? Clara tells Pedro look at the clown, points down the hall and slaps Pedro.

Gloria is plotting with Gerardo. She thinks the designs are a mistake and wants him to use his influence. Christina keeps calling Alberto, who isn't answering. There was a scene at the Ortigue's. House but I didn't watch that one because I was stirring my pot.

Alberto goes to the bar with a bouquet of red roses for Ana. She is dancing with Rodrigo. He puts the flowers down on a table and leaves.

Kat, thanks VERY much for doing this second recap. I confess that I'm still quite confused about Isabel and what happened more than two decades earlier. Yes, I think Gloria is the woman listening to the conversation between Benjamin, perhaps his brother, and a third person--a lawyer, perhaps? But I am really confused about the situation. Presumably, Isabel has been set up by I-dont-know-who to take the blame for killing someone, someone apparently said to be her lover. So she had a lover and also was sleeping with Benjamin? Who set her up? And why? Benjamin apparently did prove he fathered Isabel's baby and thus gained custody. And I'm assuming the baby is Alberto. Is Benjamin told to stay away from Isabel because he's planning to marry Gloria? Yuck. He'd have been much better off with Isabel, IMHO. Anyway, as you can probably tell, this scene totally confused me. Why is Gloria remembering it now? Because Isabel may be getting out of prison after 25 years?
And apparently she isn't getting out of prison, in spite of deserving to be released. And how does she know Emilio? He's clearly unhappy that her application for parole or whatever was turned down. Was he the 3rd man in the room when Gloria overhears the conversation? I wish I could provide some insight into this part of the novela, but as you can see, I can't. All I can do is ask question after question.

I was a bit confused, too, with how Max managed to set up Ugly Man to be arrested. Was he carrying drugs, or just money? I thought he was just carrying some money to give to Max.

I was also surprised to find that Clara and Susan knew each other from the past. It seems likely that Pedro is going to do the supposedly right thing and marry Susan so that he can be more than just the sperm that became Peter.

OK, I've embarrassed myself enough by all these questions and comments. I'll stop now and just say that I very much appreciate your doing this recap. I hope some other folks will contribute to the discussion as well.

velvet

I nearly typed Velveeta at the top. Shades of cheese I actually ate as a child and as a very young mother. Fed my kid a grilled cheese made of the stuff. Now I eat very little cheese, but aged Swiss or imported cheddar occasionally.

Where'd that digression come from? Thanks so much, Kat, for your very good recap despite being distracted. You are a real trouper!!

Why does Cristina have any role in Velvet at all? She's so entitled she feels she can drag a Velvet employee away for a gossip session. Alberto is clearly fed up. He told Mateo that he'd texted her he'd be busy all day with an investor's meeting. But she keeps on calling and gets livid when he doesn't pick up. Talk about a Devil's Bargain!

So...Alberto is Isabel's child and, she's probably not Ana's mother. Thanks, Kat, for elucidating that Albie and Ana seemed to be the same age, this making them siblings and children of Isabel pretty impossible.

Yes, Gloria somehow managed to get Isobel framed so she could land Benjamin as a husband. She didn't get to cash in because of the pre-nup, but she had a life on the gravy train. So maybe Ana's mother really did die in that warehouse fire. This also explains the early scenes when it's pretty clear that Gloria dislikes her stepson. She's still bearing a grudge because Benjamin was really in love with Isobel, Alberto's mother. Interesting the way this family history seems to be repeating itself. Rather reluctant man marries his second choice when the first becomes unavailable.

We're seeing a better side of Jennifer, now that she seems less power hungry. It seems she always felt that her mother didn't deeply love her, likely because of grieving the first child that she lost. Only in telenovelas! In my worldview, you'd love the child you got to keep even more.

Loved "like a middle school friend", Kat. Really funny. Clara's not that into Pedro, but she's outraged about the kid? This is confusing. Sounds like they all knew each other 9 years ago, but Pedro and Clara are only an item for 3 of them.

Alberto just won't give up, will he? In Miami he agreed to be friends, but he keeps stalking Ana. I got a big kick out of his spying her dancing with Rodrigo. It appears he put down the flower and left, but I doubt we'll be spared a jealous scene the next episode.

I was really surprised Max set up that trap for "Ugly Guy" and the henchmen in the car. Blanca needs to stop being hysterical and have a bit of gratitude Max didn't abscond with her money.

jefa

Niecie, I thought about a recap. It was certainly an eventful episode, but I had a restless night's sleep Wednesday night. And then I actually watched THREE novelas. That's a lot, even when skipping the commercials on recorded episodes! So I went to bed instead.

Can't remember enjoying a villain's demise more than I did Jacinto's. And, at the very end, I half expected Jacinto to jump up inside that metal coffin, with one of his patented evil grins, and shout: "Surprise!"

Mateo should have come clean with Gloria after rescuing her. But, of course, this is a telenovela. So we get to watch him squirm when Gloria thinks he's a hero.

Again I mull over the same old, same old. Why are the two DEA guys so despicable, instead of just being businesslike? Mauricio's underling was also doing the grinning, gloating thing last night.

Ramona was scared silent, for sure. They did give us a back story on her, an orphan, living on the street, getting involved in some bad job I didn't quite understand when Mauricio was describing it. That's another farfetched thing. I wouldn't think Mauricio could come up with her whole life story that easily.

Another cliffhanger. Gloria issues an ultimatum to Nacho. Stop using kids as drug mules in tunnels or she's out.

Velvet

Juanita, I think , Novelera answered many of your questions. Novelera, I don't blame your falling asleep. I too watch 3 in a row and sometimes add the 4th if I'm not recapping. Tonight it caught up to me and I dozed through half of A.mar and Karsu. I'm rewatching the beginning of Karsu as there is no official recapping being done of that one.

The one thing Novelera didn't address was Emilio. In an earlier episode we discovered that he also loved Isabel but she was wooed and won over by Benjamin. Gloria was his fiancee at the time of the affair, or perhaps just his girlfriend with expectations. Like Christina, she wanted her man no matter what, though in her case it was for his fortune more than for love I think.

I'll watch tonight's episode tomorrow. I'll add some about it then if nobody recaps. I'm not sure who picked Friday to recap, if anyone.

velvet

Many thanks, novelera and Kat, for clarifying some of the issues that were confusing me. Novelera, I especially appreciated your discussion of the flashback Gloria has. And Kat, I'd forgotten that Emilio too was sweet on Isobel. That helps to explain his staying in touch with her and her phoning him in this episode. And yes, Gloria and Cristina are both determined to get their man, but I agree that Gloria is in love with Benjamin's money, whereas Cris does seem to be in love with Alberto. She has grown up with wealth, and I think she simply takes it for granted.

velvet

I will do a recap since there's no Friday Jefa. And thank goodness it's going into últimas semanas.

velvet #15 part 1

Rodrigo and Ana dance, Alberto sees them and leaves. Ana suddenly tells Rodrigo she has an early start in the morning and needs to go home. She thanks him for helping to take her mind off her troubles. He offers to see her home.

Clara whines to her mom and Marga about Pedro’s instant fatherhood. I was convinced he only had eyes for me, she whimpers. Mom takes Clara’s side. She always knew Pedro was a shady guy. Marga defends Pedro. She calls Clara out—you’re no saint either! Clara claims she’s no cheater. She looks at Marga and adds, I’m not like others on dating apps. Mom scolds Marga for doing dirty things. Marga is fed up and leaves.

Valeria notes that the Marquez siblings are both alone and at home. She asks Alberto if he’s okay. I could be closer to you and help with the company, she says, but you have me selling clothes. I know your plans. You want to modernize the brand and recover our status as leaders in fashion. I could help you. How many more times do I have to prove it?

Alberto answers, I know you’re talented, but you let your mother manipulate you. Gloria knows nothing about the business. This isn’t a power struggle. Velvet must be managed smartly. Valeria asks, is that what you’re doing with Cristina and Ana? Just know that I’m your sister and I can do much more for the company than sell. She adds, Raul’s designs are good, but we are taking a big risk.

Marga meets up with Pedro who is drowning his sorrows at the bar. He thinks he’s lost Clara. Marga comforts him. If anyone is at fault, she says, it’s Susan for not telling you sooner. He cries over Clara, I want to marry her, Margara. Marga is blunt, you think she wants to marry you? You put all you hopes and dreams in Clara, it’s time you came back to Earth. Pedro puts his hand on Marga’s shoulder and says, stay with me tonight. Don’t let me be alone.

As Luisa unlocks the door to her apartment, Ramon shows up with a gift for Michael. She won’t let him in, saying, you can’t just show up without notification. He replies, since when? This is my house. This isn’t your house anymore, Luisa states, and we’re getting divorced. He doesn’t want the divorce. He gave her time to cool off. I love you and want us to be together, he says. He tells her he even found a job for her, but he doesn't say what that job is. Thankfully Max appears in the hallway and Ramon can’t try anything. Ramon leaves.

Pedro and Marga are both very drunk. His mind remains on Clara. How sweet and thoughtful she is to him. Marga says Pedro is the thoughtful one, a nice guy, funny, and a gentleman…. and handsome… with a perfect nose and white teeth… Pedro tells her, you’re the best… an incredible woman. You’re always with me when I need you. I don’t understand why you’re alone.

I’m alone because I’m waiting for the man of my dreams, Marga replies. A man like you. My sister never appreciated you, but I do. I’ve always been in love with you, Pedro. I want to kiss you so bad. He responds, what are you waiting for? Kiss me. Marga moves in, and there’s the smallest of kisses. [I think this part must be Marga’s imagination.] Pedro shouts, Margara! She snaps out of it and falls. He catches her. Time to go while they both can walk. He pays and they leave, holding on to each other.

Next morning, Luisa tells the girls that Ramon came to the apartment. She needs money for a good lawyer, so she doesn’t lose custody. [I can’t believe that would happen, but…] Luisa has the support of the Velvet Girls.

Marga has a hangover from her night out with Pedro. Clara calls her sister a traitor.

velvet #15 part 2

Alberto doesn’t want to think of Ana with another man. Mateo thinks Ana is moving on while Alberto is punishing himself over what might have been. Alberto is certain that Ana loves him. Mateo says that when women decide, they don’t turn back. Ana decided to move on, and you should do the same. Alberto can’t. Mateo says the solution is Cristina. Turn your attention to her. Forgetting Ana will become easier.

At break time, Clara continues to play the victim and rags on Marga for being a traitor. When Clara walks away, Marga explains that Pedro had no idea about the boy. The woman just showed up and gave him the news. Marga says that Pedro is a good guy and will take responsibility. [he should also take a DNA test.]

Marga also tells Ana that she kissed Pedro. [I still think it was her imagination.] She explains that Pedro was feeling bad, so she drank with him—a lot. And then she kissed him. Ana asks, does Clara know? Do you think I’d still be alive, Marga replies. Ana advises Marga to talk with Pedro. What do I say, Marga asks her, Pedro, I’ve been in love with you for many years?

Gerardo barges into Alberto’s office. The new collection is risky, he says, it’s a mistake. Raul’s designs are too outlandish for Velvet. You’re jeopardizing the brand’s reputation. Alberto figures this means Gloria spoke with Gerardo. Gerardo admits it. Is that a problem? Yes, Alberto replies, the board made a decision, and Gloria has no right to reveal that information. I’m the president of the company. And I’ve invested a lot of money, Gerardo shoots back.

Alberto says that money was not an investment, it is a loan. Gerardo reminds him of their agreement. You haven’t done your part, he says, and my patience is wearing thin. Put a stop to this collection or I’ll have to take matters into my own hands. He tells Alberto to call Cristina now.

Blanca returns to Velvet. Marga is disappointed that her stint as supervisor is over so soon.

Max hops into the elevator with Blanca. He needs to speak with her. She’s furious. She never wants to see him again and says she’s been tempted to call the police. Do it, he replies, but first we need to have an honest talk. They go to that “secret” storage area that everyone goes to. Blanca asks Max, what will you come up with this time to swindle me? I don’t want to hurt you, he replies, I mean it. I cared about your son. We grew up like real brothers. Blanca’s not buying it.

Max shows her pics on his phone of him and Nick when they were kids. He gives her a copy of Nick’s adoption papers. It’s true that I came here to get money from you, he says, but after getting know you, I want to start over with you. At first, I thought you were a bad person for abandoning Nick. I thought you lived in luxury and never gave a thought to your son. But now I can’t judge you. You’re not like my mother. She and my father never cared about us. Nick and I grew up alone. He was the only family I had.

Teary Blanca says she should never have given up Nick. We’ve all done things we regret, Max says, I’m not proud of what I’ve done, but that’s life. It’s part of our nature. She asks, what do you want now? I want to stay, Max answers, I want this to be my life. I don’t want to go back to the streets. I sold out my accomplices and there’s no going back. [but I’m sure they will be back with a vengeance.]

Alberto complains about Gerardo to Mateo. Mateo laughs. If you want to keep Gerardo away from the business, get closer to Cristina and make sure she’s on your side. Make her happy and keep the Oteguis at bay. Make her suffer and you’ll pay a very high price. Tell her about the collection. Make her feel like her opinion is important. Being Raul’s friend, I’m sure she will love his designs. You’d get immunity. No matter what trouble Gloria causes, Gerardo won’t go against Cristina.

velvet #15 part 3

Ana is alone in the workshop and Alberto comes in. He tells her he was at the bar last night. She says she didn’t see him there, but she sensed him. I had flowers, he says, a peace offering. But I saw you dancing with a guy and you looked happy. I needed to clear my mind, she explains, and went out with a friend. Alberto asks, who is he? A friend, Ana replies. Now I understand how you feel when you see me with Cristina, he says. It’s not the same, she answers, I have no commitment like you do with Cristina. Alberto says the difference is Ana had fun and looked happy. Ana says he has no right to be jealous.

Pedro brings Clara Chinese takeout for lunch. She stomps on the fortune cookies. She starts in about the kid and calls him a liar. Mateo walks in on them. He’s hungry and asks Clara to order him escargot Rockefeller. She hands Mateo the takeout bag. Here’s your lunch—rice and vegetables. She states, I’m not here to make coffee or order weird food. I’m a qualified financial assistant, not your personal waitress! Mateo backs off and takes the bag. Pedro leaves Clara with the crushed cookies.

Marga apologizes to Pedro for last night. She drank too much and got carried away. Pedro says he’s the one who should apologize. I took advantage of you. Marga is confused—you took advantage of me? How? He replies, I forced you to drink when you didn’t want to. You fell and hurt yourself. She asks, nothing else happened? He answers, well, you were blowing kisses in the air, and then you fell. She laughs. What a relief. Marga asks Pedro if he’s spoken to Clara. She doesn’t want to talk, he says. Please help me out with her. I’ll help, she replies, but no promises. He gives her a big hug in gratitude.

Blanca comes clean to Jennifer. She shows her Nick’s foster care form and a baby pic. He was my son. You had a brother. Jen asks, why didn’t you tell me? It was before I met your father, Blanca confesses, I fell in love with the wrong person. A man who lied to me and abandoned me when I got pregnant. I was depressed and I didn’t know what to do. I felt I couldn’t raise the baby.

Jennifer asks, who was the father? It doesn’t matter, Blanca replies, because your brother is dead. He died a while ago, but I just found out. I had tried to look for him, but he was already adopted. Did my father know, Jen asks. No, he didn’t, Blanca says, I never told him. Jen asks, what about me? When you got pregnant with me, was it an accident or did you want to? Your father was very excited to have a child, Blanca answers. So you had me because my father wanted it, Jen says, not because you did.

Blanca says that’s not what she meant. Jen says now she understands why Blanca always treated her like this. Blanca tells Jen that’s not it, she loves her very much. She says, I dedicated my life to you. Jen replies, what life? One of bitterness with the weight of the world on you? Did you really love dad or were you with him so you wouldn’t be alone? Everything about you is a lie! You don’t love anyone. Jen runs out of the apartment and Blanca cries.

Alberto has dinner with Cris. She scolds him for not contacting her. He apologizes. He was busy with the new collection and had no time for anything else. Alberto tells her the board meeting went well but Gloria talked to Gerardo. He came to Velvet this morning to tell me he didn’t like Raul’s ideas. Cris is surprised, she saw the sketches and loved them. Alberto replies, too bad your father and Gloria don’t feel the same. I’m worried. If they stop the collection, I don’t know what will happen. Don’t worry, Cris answers, I’m going to help you. I promise to be your greatest ally. But I need you to let me be part of Velvet. Can you do that? She leans in and kisses him.

velvet #15 part 4

Pedro meets Clara at the bar. She agreed to see him. He’s got fake flowers for her. She starts to speak, but he stops her. He wants to speak first. There’s something I’ve been wanting to tell you. I prepared this a long time ago. He takes the ring box out of his pocket. No, no, Clara says, not here Pedro. There’s no stopping him. He gets down on one knee and opens the box. Will you marry me? You’re the woman of my dreams. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. People gather and start recording.

Pedro continues, I know I’m not perfect, but I’ll work every day on becoming the man you deserve. A man you can be proud of. A man that makes you happy. Clarita, will you marry me? Clara looks around and blurts—no, Pedro, I don’t want to marry you! Are you happy now? Look what you’ve done. Now all these people think I’m the bad guy. She grabs her bag and runs off. Pedro is stunned.

Rodrigo sends Ana a video about Mr. Wong’s fried rice. She laughs. Tio Emilio catches her. She shows him the video. Emilio comments, he looks like a good kid. Ana nods, he’s very funny, and nice. But I don’t want to get his hopes up. I told him I’m not looking for a relationship. Emilio advises, you don’t look for relationships, they just happen. You need to give them a chance. And right now, you’re looking for reasons to forget. She reminds him to take his meds.

Jen’s drinking at the bar. Max arrives. He asks if she’s okay. She answers, I have some questions for you, if you’re not scared. He’s up for it. She asks, do you find me attractive? Sure, he replies, you’re a very pretty girl. You’ve got a temper, but we all do. She laughs, you’re not without charm, and you know it. You act so macho at Velvet. They down a shot. I don’t beat around the bush, Jen says. I really like you, Max. She moves in for a kiss. He gently pushes her back. Jennifer, I said you’re very pretty, but I like you as a friend. I’m not interested in anything else. She asks why. I can’t get involved with you, he responds. Thanks for the drink. He leaves.

Two weeks later. It’s Barbie and Enrique's wedding day. Rodrigo is at Velvet in his tux. He’s going to be Ana’s assistant during the event. Ana thanks him for accepting the offer. He saved her from being alone. Alberto walks in and rushes right over to Rodrigo—I think I know you. Ana introduces Rod to Al. He’s going to be my assistant for the Otegui wedding. The men shake hands.

Alberto has a mini meltdown in his office. He bangs on his desk and exclaims to Mateo, how could she bring that idiot to my company? How could she do this to me? Do what, Mateo replies, you have a girlfriend and Ana is free to do as she wants. Alberto fumes, she didn’t just bring him here. She made him her assistant. Cris had the brilliant idea to tell Ana to attend the reception in case something happened to the dresses. And Rodrigo offered to help her. It’s only been two weeks! I don’t know if I can see her with another guy! Mateo warns him that Cris and Gerardo and many of their friends will be at the wedding. The last thing needed is a public fit of jealousy.

Wedding prep gears up at Velvet. Raul arrives. Showtime! The bride and bridesmaids come down to get their hair and makeup done before getting dressed. Cris complements Ana for setting this up. Ana gives credit to Raul and Marga. Cris tells her, I hope that for my wedding you’ll all be together supporting us. Cris meets Rodrigo. She refers to him as Ana’s novio. Ana quickly corrects her, Rod is a friend and he’s there to help.

velvet #15 part 5

The bride is ready, and everyone applauds. Alberto is guzzling champagne, and Mateo warns him to go easy. Alberto can’t take his eyes off Ana and Rodrigo.

We get cheated out of a church wedding and skip right to the newlyweds and guests out on the dance floor. [This looks like such a modest reception. Is Barbie’s family is not so well to do? I guess Telemundo is saving up for a more important couple.] Gloria is at a table with Gerardo. Alberto is still drinking. He’s at a table with Cris and Mateo. And he’s got his eyes on Ana and Rodrigo at a table across the room. Mateo has his eyes on a woman he’d like to meet and excuses himself.

Cris asks Alberto to dance. He declines. She talks him into it. Gloria and Gerardo are happy to see this. Cris plants a kiss on Alberto and they really start to go at it in the middle of the dance floor. Gloria gloats over Ana’s distress.

And we are out.

Velvet..wow dondi, what a complete recap. The only thing I can add are observations. First, what was coming out of the back of Pedro's hair in the scene with Margarita when she tried to get his attention as he was using a cordless drill on an electrical outlet. It distracted me, especially since someone mentioned that Pedro is wearing a wig.

Perrenial bachelor Tio Emilio giving relationship advice! Ha, ha.

The other shocker that I didn't get is why are the bride and bridesmaids getting ready at Velvet? It almost seemed like the wedding occurred there. Barbie's dress was very flattering. Christina with the bodice slashed to her navel left nothing to the imagination. And did you notice Gloria seems to have nabbed Gerardo as her date to the event.

I don't know how this will end. I really don't like Arturo so I keep hoping a better guy will come along for Ana. Seems like Raul was eyeing Rodrigo when he left the room so there goes my hope he was straight and a possible partner for deserving Margarita, who most likely will end up with Pedro.

I knew immediately that the kiss between her and Pedro was a figment of her imagination. Now Clara has rejected him so publicly, will be give u on her. Clara resenting a child conceived 9 years ago when they've only been dating 3 years is just wrong.

velvet

OMG, dondi, another magnificent recap! Wow! And even though I'm not watching La Jefa, I am VERY eager for it to end, since perhaps that will mean we'll have more of your amazing recaps for Velvet. Fingers crossed!

I have nothing to add to what you've said, but the episode did raise some questions in my mind. One is why does the mother of Clara and Marga clearly prefer Clara? That in itself is enough to tell me the mother is not a good person.

And why does Alberto say that Valeria lets her mother manipulate her, when we (and Alberto) have just seen her vote in opposition to her mother's negative vote about Raúl's designs?

Ramon tells Luisa he has found a job for her. Huh? Doesn't she have a perfectly good job at Velvet?

Wow, Clara calling her sister a traitor, when Clara has been cheating on Pedro with Mateo: the pot calls the kettle black.

And yes, yes, yes, I agree that Pedro should definitely have a DNA test. (Indeed, I thought that as soon as Susan appeared to introduce Peter to his "father.") I suppose it's possible that she's telling the truth, but I don't trust her. And why would she wait 8 or 9 years to contact Pedro?

I know Blanca is Jennifer's mother, but who is her father?

What does it mean that Rodrigo is Ana's assistant at the wedding? What is he supposed to do?

Like you, dondi, I expected a grander, more elaborate wedding. Is the wedding being held at Velvet? Neither Barbie nor Enrique works there.

I apologize for all the questions. ¡Muchísimas gracias otra vez for this wonderful recap!

Velvet

Juanita, Ramon saying he found a job for her means he found a job for himself because she wanted him to get a job. She is afraid to ask what work he got, probably shady as that's the kind of guy he is.

Jennifer asks Blanca did you even love dad or did you just not want to be alone. Jennifer's dad died, also part of that conversation. Also part of the conversation was that Blanca had only been in the US a little while when she had her son so she had no support system to help her. I still don't see how that 20(25) year necklace fits in unless she was a factory worker in Oaxaca before moving to NY. I wonder if Benjamin's brother, forgot his name, Ernesto or something, wooed her in Mexico and brought her back to the States. I feel for Blanca, she has had it rough. Unfortunately, because she was so hurt, she was aloof to her own daughter who desperately craved her attention and affection.

I continue to have laptop problems that delay my viewing and prevent me from posting. I thank all the recappers and commenters who have kept me current. It’s been very helpful.

Jacinto had a very fitting end. Erna will always annoy me. It’s time for Ramona to go. What happens to Luisa now? Will Duque come to her aid? I don’t like Alina. She’s a know it all who got fooled by Dario. And BTW, he’s not that hot.

Thanks Kat and Juanita.

Kat: Pedro wears an earpiece for communication when something needs to be done.

I suppose Emilio knows something about relationships and heartbreak because of Isabel. He doesn’t want Ana to go down the same road.

So Velvet became the prep venue for Barbie instead of her going to a salon or a crew coming to her home. I wonder if Velvet gives that sort of service to anyone who is willing to pay. Yes, I noticed Cris’ dress! How do those dresses stay put?

Glo leeches onto Gerardo as often as she can. He always looks disgusted.

Raul is such a flirt. He also gives Mateo the once over every chance he gets.

Clara is using the boy as an excuse to dump Pedro.

Thanks for clearing up my awkward sentence about Ramon finding a job.

Esteban is Benjamin’s brother and Blanca’s ex. Maybe he gave her the Velvet necklace before he left.

Juanita: I can’t wait for Jefa to be over. I’ll definitely save Fridays for Velvet. Ugh, Clara and her mom are birds of a feather. Very selfish people. How did Marga turn out so nice?

I think Valeria does whatever is in her best interest at the time.

I also thought it strange to have Rodrigo as an “assistant” at the wedding. But Ana didn’t want to be there alone, and she didn’t want to invite him as a date.

Another fantastic Friday recap, dondi! Thanks a million for such good storytelling and asides.

I guess Mateo is just meant to be a loyal company man. His refrain is urging Alberto to go along and woo Cristina. I think Alberto is not a fave here on the Caray patio. So far he's been called Antonio and Arturo and maybe Alejandro.

I discovered I could buy a "preloved" Patek Phillippe watch on Amazon for $34K. Cris gave him a new one and it was gold. Does Daddy see her credit card bills?

This novela seems to be a mishmash. It's the classic rich boy/poor girl plot. But it also seems to me to be loaded with slapstick comedy. A good example of that seems to be recent scenes with Clara in them. She's the classic "dog in the manger" about Pedro and has heaving chest moments of lust for Mateo. ¡Ya basta!

I did admire Alberto's response to Gerardo getting heavy handed with him. He IS the President of Velvet and Gerardo needs to butt out about the new line. OTOH: how clueless. NOW he understands what Ana has been going through re the green-eyed monster. But she's certainly handled it well.

Jennifer's response to her mother was annoying overreaction. She went from finding out about a deceased older brother to Blanca only having given birth to her to please her father. 0 to 60 in no time at all.

Juanita beat me to "pot...kettle", with the exception of the characters she referred to. She meant Clara being angry with Pedro when she's lusting after Mateo. I mean Alberto calling Rodrigo an idiot during his rant in his office.

I guess Barbie was meant to be a bridezilla. She was certainly all over the bridesmaid's dresses. As for the smallish number of attendees, of course Telemundo would not spring for a large number of extras.

Again, I think both Pedro and Alberto are wearing wigs. No one has hair that uniformly black and you don't see any signs of hairs beginning on the high forehead with either of them.

I got a kick out of Raul eyeing Rodrigo when he first saw him.

Alberto is the classic hoist with his own petard. And he's snippy about following through on the deal he made. And, of course, driven nuts by Ana coming to the wedding in any capacity with Rodrigo, he's drunk too much and is inappropriately kissing Cris on the dance floor

Oops, I'm guilty of calling Alberto by the wrong name. Though I did get it correct on my recap night. That's what happens when you watch half a dozen shows at the same time and the cast names from a few weeks ago are still in your head! And I don't really care for the name Alberto so I keep forgetting it!
