.
Isabel talks to Alberto about his wonderful father and then she’s hired! Al welcomes her to Velvet. Then she has the nerve to ask if she can tutear him, which seems like a risk, but he’s happy to allow this (he’s not Enrique). She thinks he’s like his father.
.
Lorenzo wants to give Ana some lessons on design and calls her closer (like CLOSER closer) to him, but she thinks this lesson should be for all the girls! She calls them over, over Lorenzo’s objections, and then everyone looks at him for the lesson. Ha! Good one, Ana.
.
Mommy and the Aunties fill in Mateo about the “fulanita” who visited them the night before. But Mateo, the coward, tells them she’s a friend and just a friend.
.
Clara and Marga chat about Marga’s doctor friend and how he wants to do sex things with her (although they don’t put it like that). Is Marga a virgin? Because Clara talks to her like maybe she is and asks if she wants to be with him like that.
.
Blanca overhears – on purpose – an argument between Max and Perlita (?). He says she’s in love with another woman and she demands to know who. She doesn’t get an answer.
.
Mateo talks to Clara about introducing her to Mommy and the Aunties and how important their opinion is, etc. She agrees but doesn’t tell him that she’s met them while he pretends not to know about the first meeting. He does invite her to dinner with them and this could be a fun distraction for all of us to see!
.
Marga is all gussies up for her date and she runs into Pedro. She looks great and Pedro thinks so too. Almost didn’t recognize her without the big glasses. He finally fesses up that he likes her as more than just a friend, but as things could go further, the baby momma (can’t remember her name) shows up with the kid, hangs on Pedro’s arm and tells him she’s staying in NY so they can be close to each other! Isn’t that great?! I don’t like her. Then Marga’s doctor comes to pick her up and, as expected, Marga kisses him, calls him her boyfriend, etc. (Eye roll by me).
.
More of Clara and Mateo. She finally fesses up that she’s already met the family and he’s annoyed that she didn’t trust him enough to tell him directly. The family dinner wasn’t going to happen anyway (part of his game) and he goes off in a huff, annoyed at her.
.
Emilio introduces Isabel to Carlos and he’s very nice. He gives them a nice bottle of wine and chocolates, so I guess they’re having a foursome? For dinner, I mean. Ew.
.
Marga and her doctor are at dinner and she may have had a little too much to drink because she’s talking a lot about Pedro. He starts in on kissing her at the restaurant and then helps her back to his room. He’s put rose petals all over the bed, which seems like a waste of flowers knowing where they’re going to end up. She plays with the petals a little and then goes to freshen up or something while he gets neked and sits down on the bed. She stumbles back in and points out that he’s got no clothes on and he offers to help her off with hers. I don’t like him.
Monday, #31, 2 of 3
.
The Doc is about to help Marga off with her dress when she promptly vomits. Then again. The doc doesn’t look like he’s in the mood anymore. She ends up leaving and he’s all on his own. (I laugh).
.
Pedro and Primo Ric talk about getting Ric his own place. Then whats-er-name comes out and tells Pedro to join them (her?) in bed and Ric laughs at him. And we all wonder why she doesn’t’ get her own place because it’s not like she and Pedro are married.
.
Ana and Carlos talk about how Emilio has loved Isabel for years and Carlos says something about time or distance doesn’t matter? Something romantic. They talk about the relationship that hurt her (Al) and she lost not only the boy but also the Ana that she was. I miss what he says but she’s kissing his hand so it was the right answer, probably something about waiting for her or taking it slow or something.
.
Next day. Isabel is introduced to the group as head of the atelier for Ana’s designs for Saguahattan (sp?). Blanca does not look happy about this. Luisa and Ric talk about Fernando. She finally asks him for two things- to trust her and to help her with something. (We don’t know what yet). Cris comes by and is introduced to Isabel. Isabel stares at her necklace and asks to see it closer. It was made by a jeweler in Oaxaca and she compliments its finery, although Cris doesn’t look happy about this. Don’t think these two are hitting it off. Then Isabel faints and Al catches her.
.
She comes to and blames low blood sugar and doesn’t want a doctor called. AL is very tender with her. Call of the blood? He thanks her for the background on the necklace. Missed the explanation but it was a gift from Benjamin to “Al’s mother”, it seems, and Al says Ben loved his mother very much. ( I think that’s right?)
.
Marga is about to tell the girls, including Isabel, about her night with the doc but then she sees Pedro. They talk over each other about their “amazing” nights. Isabel says it’s love. She’s caught on right away.
.
Blanca and Ana talk about Lorenzo. Blanca doesn’t like him. (No one likes him). She asks if Ana heard anything of Raul but she’s only seen stuff on social media.
.
Emilio and Isabel talk about the necklace. She knows he loved her, or she loved him?, but that’s over. He didn’t trust her and all she cares about is her son.
.
Valeria talks to Enrique about business stuff. He tries to get it on with her but she shuts him down and says they are just work companions. He laughs her off but she tells him they are over. She has her problems but I like her.
.
Fernando’s wife comes to the store (Teresa is her name) and Luisa talks to her. Luisa tells Teresa that Fer is a pervertido. Teresa looks mad. (At Fer or Luisa? Probably Luisa. But commercial so we don’t get to find out yet).
Monday, #31, 3 of 3
.
Teresa sucks. She says lawyers of his level are very expensive, Luisa needs him to deal with her ex, and also does Luisa really think she can escape a man like Fer? Luisa calls her his accomplice. Tere tells her there are only two ways to deal with a man like this- obey or pay the consequences. Then she hands over the dress that Fer wants her to wear and tells her Fer will be waiting for her in the usual place. I don’t like Teresa, even if she is in an abusive relationship.
.
Blanca confronts- because it’s not a super friendly start- Isabel about her experience in fashion. Isabel tells her about her experience but Blanca isn’t impressed and tells Isabel her dream to work in Velvet won’t be enough. I don’t think Blanca is really opposed to Isabel, just down about things not working out in her own life.
.
Cris talks to Al about changes, again, to the house. She wants it to be perfect. Then she mentions the party they’re having for Barbie and the baby. All the family will be there and also Ana and her boyfriend. Al correctly asks why? Cris gives some answer that still doesn’t make sense to me. Not sure if Cris is just nosy about Ana’s boyfriend or if she still has suspicions about Ana. (Probably the second thing).
.
Ric comes to Luisa as she cries. Luisa tells Ric that Fer wants to be with her again.
.
Cris invites Ana to the baby dinner, or whatever this is, Ana bows out because she has plans with Carlos. Cris is happy to get a name, and they chat like they are friends or something. Ana knows better, I think, but Cris? Who knows.
.
Blanca confronts Max for real in the basement. He takes the blame for his actions and says it wasn’t’ tequila or anything else. I miss what was said next but first Blanca slaps him, then kisses him, then tells him this doesn’t mean he’s forgiven. (I think maybe he is though).
.
Isabel has come up to the store floor and is seen by Gloria. Uh oh.
.
K
Thanks muchly, K, for another great recap.
I'm interested to see that you heard Isabel say that Alberto is like his father. I thought she said he looked like his father, and I was puzzled, because I didn't see much physical resemblance at all. Your statement makes more sense to me (since Isabel loved Benjamin).
I was impressed with how Ana quickly thwarted Lorenzo's wish to have her come closer. Way to go, Ana!
I think that at first Mateo tries to make Clara seem like someone he knows who is just "una amiga," but he then clarifies that to "una amiga especial." I was surprised that he said that to his mother and aunties.
Yes, I've been assuming that Marga is a virgin. And I think Clara at one point says she could explain things to Marga.
Wow, I wonder whether Marga can just make herself vomit, or whether she vomits because she has had too much to drink. (It's for sure she's not pregnant. :-) ) And later, she tells her buddies that she vomitted on her doctor friend's clothes.
If I understood correctly (always an "if"), Ana says that Raúl has deleted/cancelled his social media accounts.
Yes, Teresa definitely sucks! You mention that you don't like her "even if she is in an abusive relationship." Actually, it never occurred to me that she might be. I don't think she is, she's just a [expletives deleted].
I interpreted the scene between Blanca and Isabel somewhat differently. I think Blanca is hurt that Velvet's higher-ups didn't think she could manage both groups, and she's also furious that they've chosen Isabel, someone with very little experience, to manage one of the groups.
Well, we all knew that Gloria was bound to see and recognize Isabel. I'm surprised that Emilio never considered that possibility. Anyway, Gloria's spotting Isabel is the perfect way to end the episode.
K, thanks for the recap. I watched it today after reading your posts. The captions were in English and I decided not to change them back to Spanish. As Juanita noted, Raul has deleted his social media presence. I'm surprised no one has his personal phone number though.
I have thought all along that Isabel should have been hired as a seamstress, not as an atelier boss. Blanca was upset they thought she couldn't handle both sides. I can't believe Lorenzo made Ana change her designs when the board approved her designs. Blanca was right to tell Ana to tell Al about it. She is making a mistake. Her excuse was Lorenzo was hired to run the shop so she needs to do as he says. It seems to me they have made her a designer in her own right and she needs to do her job.Unless they hire a bunch more workers her workload of people managing would have been the same. I'm always surprised when the seamstresses are out on the showroom floor. Unless they are on their way in or out or going to lunch I would think they would be slaving away over their sewing machines.
I bet Teresa is glad her husband isn't using her anymore for his sex fantasies, especially as he appears to like it rough. Did you mention Luisa slipped a scissor into the bag with the outfit she was given and ordered to wear. I guess Francisco will find himself in some peril from Luisa tonight.
OT. I'm hoping there is no show Wednesday. We are driving to Ohio (500 miles or longer if I-40 is washed out still. They repaired it but I'm not wanting to go that route if storms are predicted which means going up past Asheville and cutting across Tennessee. I've gone that route once before when 75 was damaged near the TN/KY border but it's been about 12 years ago I think).
Loved the recap, K. Thanks.
Emilio becomes a moron when it comes to Isabel. Does he think he’ll get out of the friend zone with her? It also bothered Blanca that Emilio recommended a “friend” with little experience for the atelier job. She didn’t think he was that kind of person.
I guess Teresa doesn’t give a damn what Francisco does if she maintains her luxurious lifestyle.
Another great recap, K. I'm running out of superlatives.
Yes, Ana cleverly outsmarted Lorenzo without insulting him. It seems any attractive female is fair game to him. Big age difference between Blanca and Ana, but he tried to make a play for both. I noticed he stood up when he was talking to Ana. So, is the wheelchair a prop? Or that he can stand but not walk.
I also thought from Clara's conversation that Marga is still a virgin. And the next day she pretty much said she'd vomited on purpose. But IIRC she drank more than one of those gigantic (not very good) margaritas. A margarita is a decent cocktail served in the traditional wider at the top glass.
Max's fall from grace was with Pepita. Pepe is a nickname for José, so maybe her given name is Josefina.
I think the woman who moved back with her kid, Peter, is Susan. She left because she couldn't afford NYC, and I was pleasantly surprised. But Pedro went to visit, giving her a chance to sink her hooks deeper. She probably still can't afford NYC and plans to mooch off Pedro. Did they say something about needing to be a Velvet employee to live there? It's still not too late for a DNA test. For Pete's sake, Pedro, get the kid's toothbrush!
Blanca is back to being bitchy. I also think her snotty behavior with Isabel is about wanting control. She feels threatened by having another person with the same title working at Velvet.
I like Valeria also. She occasionally shows behavior inherited from her mother, but not always. She's gone off Enrique now that he's going to be a father.
I agree that it was a very bad move on Ana's part to change her designs to placate Lorenzo. Hopefully she'll change back before any actual clothes are produced.
Thanks for the corrections. I should probably change the captions to English on Monday’s. I like to practice listening but often get it wrong.
Poor Raul. They’re moving along quickly enough so when can they dump Lorenzo and bring back Raul?
K
Gloria again spots Isabel. She asks Max whether he knows that woman in the uniform. He tells her it's Isabel, the new atelier manager. She'll be helping Ana with the Sahghattan project.
We then see Gloria with a guy we've seen her with before. She tells him she's sure it's Isabel. She even checked with the Human Resources department. She tells him now that Isabel is at Velvet, it's only a matter of time before she tells Alberto everything. The guy, whose name I don't know, tries to assure her that if Isabel tries to accuse her, it would be her word against Isabel's. "And Emilio's," says Gloria. "He's helping her." The guy tells her to simply fire Emilio. Gloria explains that it's not so easy. Finally, she says to him, "I don't want Isabel around me. And it's your fault she's here and not dead. I need you to complete what you left unfinished years ago. You owe me."
Cris and Barbie run into Ana at the restaurant where Barbie is having her party. Cris urges Ana to join them. Ana explains that she has come with Carlos, and she wants to be alone with him. She thinks he may suggest that they formalize their relationship.
Luisa is very nervous. After what Francisco's wife, Teresa, had said, Luisa feels she has no choice but to meet with Francisco. Before she leaves her apartment, she takes a large pair of scissors and puts it in her bag.
Barbie tells Cris that she doesn't know why Cris wants so desperately to be friends with Ana.
Luisa meets with Francisco. She again pleads with him to let her go home and end their meetings. She takes out her scissors and points it at Francisco. He tries to grab it and gets cut on his hand. He tells her he could have her put in jail for years because of this, and she'd also lose custody of her son. He grabs her, but she fights back and this time she wounds him more severely. He falls to the floor and doesn't move. Luisa is terrified. Francisco's phone rings. Luisa sees that the call is from Teresa. Luisa goes over to Francisco's prone body and pushes the body with her foot. The push makes his body turn so that he's now on his back with his eyes closed. He looks as if he could be dead. Luisa is terrified that she has killed him. She picks up the scissors from the floor and opens the door to leave. But then she stops, takes a cloth and wipes the door handle to get rid of any fingerprints. And then she leaves. (I'm surprised she had the presence of mind to do this.)
Marga comes to the apartment where Susan is staying and brings a cake that she has baked for Pedro. He isn't there, but Susan takes the cake (which looks like a bread and is called a "sweet bread"). Marga leaves.
Emilio and Isabel are alone in Emilio's apartment. Isabel is expressing her gratitude for all that Emilio has done for her. He tells her that getting her the job at Velvet was the only way he could bring mother and son together. The two of them are dancing to some music in the apartment. She says playfully, "Keep this up and I'll marry you." "Accepto," replies Emilio. It's a very happy scene, but suddenly Isabel starts to cough. She recovers, but it's a reminder that she's not well.
Back at the restaurant, Carlos notices that Ana hasn't been listening to what he's been saying. He asks her what has got her so distracted. The camera makes it clear that although Barbie's party may be in another room, it can be seen from where Carlos and Ana are. Ana tells him that Velvet's management is here at the restaurant. Carlos doesn't see why that should bother her. She explains that he's the CEO of the parent company that Velvet is partnering with. Somehow, Ana sees this as problematic (or, more likely, it's the only excuse she could come up with).
Back at the apartment where Susan is staying (or perhaps it's Pedro's apartment? I'm not sure), Pedro is there very intently playing some sort of video game. Susan comes into the room and says "Now that Rick is gone and Peter is asleep, perhaps we can...." Pedro isn't really listening, he's thoroughly engrossed in the video game. Susan mentions the cake that Clara brought, no, wait, it was Marga. As soon as she says "Marga," Pedro pays attention. "Marga was here?" he asks. Susan tells him Marga was here, but with her novio. Pedro goes back to his video game. Susan then suggests that perhaps the two of them could play. I'm not sure that she meant the video game, but Pedro is thrilled at that prospect. He hands her a controller and is once again totally involved with the game. Susan is not pleased.
Carlos suggests that he and Ana go to a different restaurant, though he doesn't know of any that will take them at this late hour. Ana says she knows a restaurant that will: Kung Food. She knows the owner and is sure they'll be seated. Alberto sees them leave. He follows them and crashes into a waiter. He can't stop looking at Ana. She kisses Carlos.
Luisa returns home. The person who was watching Miguel leaves. Rick comes by. Apparently Luisa had texted him on her way home. She is terrified of what happened. "I killed Francisco!" she says to Rick.
Alberto returns home. Cris tells him that they should take a short trip somewhere. "Iceland is said to be lovely this time of year," she tells him. She proposes a "short, one-month trip to Iceland." Alberto says he wants to be alone, go for a walk, have a drink, think." Cris asks to come with him. He tells her he wants to be alone.
Rick asks Luisa to tell him what happened. Luisa says that Francisco told her he had killed Ramon. She also tells him about Teresa, who said "the only thing you can do is what he wants." Rick says, "You were with me tonight. Did anyone see you?" Luisa replies no (but of course Teresa knew Luisa was going to meet Francisco).
We now see that Francisco isn't dead. He has regained consciousness and is starting to move. As he is doing this, Teresa arrives. He tells her what Luisa did. Teresa's response: "Worthless. I thought she'd be able to finish the job." Francisco is at first not sure what she means. She goes on, "so many years of maltreatment, putting up with your infidelities...." She takes out a pistol and points it at Francisco. "How do you feel now? Where are your lawyers? Where's your money? You've always said that if you want something done, you need to do it yourself." She shoots him.
Alberto is sitting at a bar. A woman in a white pants suit comes up to him and starts talking to him. She tries to guess his profession. Stockbroker? Tech expert? "You're getting closer," Alberto tells her. She then guesses fashion expert. He recognizes what she's wearing: "Gaston St. La Nuit. 1978. Original." She's impressed. She wants to know more. Alberto says he doesn't want to bore her with his problems. She replies, "You tell me your story, and I'll tell you mine. You'll be surprised." Alberto agrees.
Ana is back home. She tells Emilio that she and Carlos left the restaurant. "I was with Carlos, and I didn't want anyone to know." (Huh? Why not?) "I still haven't forgotten Alberto." Emilio replies, "At first, it hurts a lot. But after a while...." Ana asks whether he's talking about Isabel.
Alberto tells the nameless Woman in White (TWW) that he and Ana had been very close from the time she was 10 years old. "If my father hadn't committed suicide and left Velvet at the brink of bankruptcy, Ana and I would be in Paris, living our dream." TWW points out that he got married. Alberto says that Ana knows she's the only one I love.TWW says that things were always in his hands, never in Ana's. "And now that she's taking control of her life, you feel betrayed?
TWW asks Alberto to give her his car keys. To my surprise, he does so. I'm not sure, but it looked as if she may have handed them to the bartender, saying, "No more drinks for him." Alberto complains that he's told her his story, but she hasn't told him hers. I think she says that will happen the next time they see each other. Alberto points out that he doesn't even know her name. She says she's the woman in the Gaston St. La Nuit suit. 1978
Raúl suddenly comes through the door at Velvet. Ana and Marga greet him ecstatically. He announces "Raúl de la Riva is back!" He hugs both Ana and Marga together and tells them he's missed them a lot. He explains that he left because of Enrique Ortegui.
Gloria comes to see Emilio. He knows what she wants to talk about, but he simply reminds her that Alfredo as president of Velvet is responsible for all hires. If she has an issue, she should talk to Alberto. Gloria says that Isabel is a murderer. Emilio replies that both she and he know that's not true. Gloria claims that Isabel has come here for Alberto's money. "You don't know Isabel," replies Emilio. "She just wants to be near her son."
Rick again is urging Luisa to say that she was with him last night. Calm down. You have to go to work. Luisa's son, Miguel, appears, and Rick greets him warmly and talks about playing soccer with him--not the video game, the real game. Apparently Rick will take Miguel to school as Luisa goes to work.
In the room where the seamstresses work, everyone is delighted to see Raúl. Blanca is especially happy to see him. Suddenly, one of the seamstresses sees on her phone the news that Francisco was found dead. The accounts don't say how he died. (I'm surprised there was no mention of his being shot. The absence of an important detail like that makes me think the news is being spread on social media, but not in newspapers. Even so, I don't inow why there was no mention of his being shot.)
Alberto and Mateo meet with Raúl. They want to understand why he suddenly up and left and disappeared. Raúl says it was because of Enrique. Raúl explains what Enrique did and said (which we already know from a previous episode). Alberto feels Raúl should have come to him. Raúl says that's what he was planning to do, until he spoke with Cristina before the weddiing. "Cristina herself told me to accept Enrique's offer and go someplace very far away from here."
Isabel is alone in the seamstresses room when suddenly Gloria enters. Isabel says "I knew you'd come to say hello. Aren't you going to give me a welcoming hug?" And on that bizarre question, the episode ends.
Luisa had the presence of mind to wipe only one side of the door handle unfortunately. She let herself in so the outer knob has her prints. Was Teresa wearing gloves? If not hopefully she will wipe bothe sides.
Yes, TWW did tell the bartender Al was cut off and not to let him drive. This lady looks like she could be interesting. I think al asked where she got her vintage outfit but she didn't disclose her source that I could tell.
Raul was funny arriving at the store. The girls drenching him in scent as they complain they are now also selling accessories. Seems like if it makes money they need all the help they can get. They already are selling jewelry as we saw Max steal a necklace early on.
I wonder if the cause of death is being hidden so the police can do their investigation. There may not have been any cameras in the hotel but perhaps some street cameras are in the area.
Can someone else do tonight's recap if it is on? We are going to be driving when it is on and watching on my phone and trying to recap on the same device won't work. And the next 2 nights I'll be visiting with family so I'm out of commission unless I do it during the day.
Thanks very much, Kat, for your great comments. I guess I was so surprised that Luisa thought to wipe the door handle that I completely overlooked her failure to wipe it on the outside. And yes, TWW looks quite interesting. I hope we'll see more of her.
I wish I could do tonight's recap, but I'm afraid my schedule today and tomorrrow makes that impossible. I hope someone else will step in. I should add that Telemundo's program guide indicates that both Velvet and La Jefa will be shown tonight at their usual time.
Thanks so much for the recap, Juanita. You covered it all so well.
YAY! Raul is back! And I’m glad he told Albert and Mateo about Cristina.
Gloria’s partner in crime is listed as Alessandro.
Besides Ana’s issues about moving on, I could understand if she feels it’s sort of mixing business with pleasure with Carlos and is reluctant to publicize it.
Yes, Teresa plans to frame Luisa. She was wearing gloves. Maybe Luisa wiped the outside and we didn’t see it? ITA, Kat, there may be cameras elsewhere inside and outside of the building and the cops might be withholding information.
Who the heck drives their car to a bar in Manhattan when they live in Manhattan (or anywhere in NYC)? If I can make that assumption about Albert. Cab, Uber, car service… whatever. And who the heck tells a perfect stranger their love life, complete with names? I guess drunk Albert.
Thanks very much, dondi, for these terrific comments. I've now made note of Alessandro. I suspect we'll be seeing more of him as he and Gloria plot to do in Isabel. And I loved your questions about who would drive to a bar in Manhattan when they live in Manhattan, as well as who tells a perfect stranger their love life, complete with names.
Gloria is screwed. The Mexican president put a huge price on her head.
Miguel is sent to the reformatory for shoplifting. The kid who’s the top dog lays down the law to Miguel, but Miguel bests him in a fight and becomes the top dog. Laura spends the whole episode whining and crying over her son.
Luisa continues to be Duque’s Lady Macbeth.
Mateo goes to see Yadira and Gael. They leave with the guards to take Mateo to a hideout. Mono and Duque have been staking out the place and follow them.
Mateo starts puking blood so the car pulls over. Duque and Mono stop, too, kill the guards and corner the others. Gael and Mateo manage to get the guns off the guards and turn the tables, shooting Duque and Mono.
Gael struggles with Duque; Yadira picks up the gun and shoots Duque. Duque falls down the hill on the side of the road. Is he dead? Is Mono dead? Our guys walk away from the scene.
Anderson tells Mauricio there’s nothing he can do for Gloria. Mau buys more time for his operation by telling Anderson he will give him full credit for capturing the narcos. But Anderson still wants Gloria’s head.
Daniel faints.
Yadira takes a pregnancy test.
Nacho tells a henchie to round up Gloria’s gal pals one by one, and torture them to get Glo’s location.
Erna goes out to get the meds that Daniel needs.
Gloria uses her old phone to call Mau to ask for protection. Mateo intercepts the call. He hears Daniel is not well.
And we are out.
I can put up some notes for #88 Tuesday if no one else can.
Guess this one is relegated to the weekend. This week Uni is showing some two-hour episodes of Karsu, the dizi I'm really into right now. And I want to keep up with Velvet, since it's getting the most comments lately on Caray/Telemundo.
I plan to watch Jefa until the bitter end, but can't commit to recapping at all this week.
Another terrific recap, Juanita. Let me say again how glad we are that you're back!
Come on, writers. How could Gloria fire Emilio? She's a minority shareholder and holds no office in the company.
I would prefer that the writers had made Isabel strong and vengeful rather than fragile and with a terminal illness. I suppose we'll eventually find out how Gloria managed to find out Benjamin was in love with Isobel and conspire to get her accused of murder.
Barbie, sigh. She seizes every opportunity to rag on about how lower class and unworthy Ana is. I sense that she really knows Enrique just married her for status or whatever. She admitted to Cris that she got pregnant to bind him more closely.
I think what made Luisa think Francisco was dead is that, when she pushed him away right after he was choking her, he hit his head on a sideboard or something as he was falling. He was knocked unconscious. I was screaming at my TV: "Pick up the damn scissors!"
I could see Ana's reluctance to acknowledge she's dating Carlos. Plenty of folks (Barbie, of course) would assume she got the designer role for the clothing less haute couture by bedding the head of that company.
Writers, I know you lose sleep thinking of ways to keep couples apart, but Susan is a bridge too far for me. She even lied that Marga brought the coffee cake accompanied by her boyfriend. Pedro wanting her to play video games was comic relief, but I'm tired to Pedro and Marga's games.
I sort of thought Alberto did not recognize who Ana was with at the restaurant. They only showed Carlos from the back.
Cris suggested a one-month trip to Iceland? I guess she could be that clueless. He's trying to save the family business, dummy.
I was also surprised the news about Francisco being shot wasn't revealed. This could relieve Luisa a tiny bit.
Random woman in bar and Alberto bares his soul. I'm sure she'll be back, but I can't figure out a possible role.
I suspect Alberto won't be able to resist grilling Cris about not sticking up for Raul. Viewerville was disgusted, and he will be as well. I'm bracing myself for a full Cristina nutcase meltdown.
Dondi, thanks for the high(low)-lights.
Ugh, Yadi is pregnant. Kudos to her for not hiding the pregnancy from Gael and telling him the timing points to Duque as rapist dad. A thousand boos to Laura for pushing about having the baby, joy joy.... Laura, how about shutting your yap for a moment and permitting Yadi to get in tune with her own feelings and beliefs.
I hope any kids watching this thing don't buy little Miguel climbing to the top of the heap so easily at the reformatory.
Of course, one bullet doesn't kill Duque and Nacho finds him and nurses him back to health.
Dondi356: I KNEW Yadira was preggers with Scumbag Duque's baby & at least she told Gael about the pregnancy. I am getting super annoyed with Laura & her constant whining & nagging.
The Mexican President is an ASSHOLE & needs to get knocked down a few notches.
Looks like Gloria's going down BIGLY with the Gran Final coming up soon. I am also disgusted that Creepy Nacho & Scumbag Duque both have like 900+ lives & still wreaking havoc.
Novelera: I am also planning on watching this all the way to the end & I'm afraid that Gloria's remaining friends are going to be joining the Body Count soon.
Yadira’s test was positive. She doesn’t tell Gael.
Mateo has left Yadi and Gael’s house without telling them. He catches Erna on her errand. He tells her he intercepted Gloria’s call. He pleads to see Gloria.
Erna returns with the meds and with Mateo. He tells Gloria she’s in danger. If he tracked her the DEA can.
Mau tells Dario about Anderson and his phone call from Glo. Mau feels responsible for Glo’s situation because he let the story about the tunnels leak.
Mateo tries to convince Glo to go somewhere safer. Glo says she can’t leave while Duque is still looking for her. Mateo tells Glo that Duque is dead. Glo says it wasn’t reported on the news. Mateo tells her how they shot him and left him. Glo is not convinced Duque is dead.
Dani wakes up.
Shucks, Duque’s not dead. Neither is Mono. Nacho managed to rescue them and hide any evidence of the confrontation. That’s why it didn’t make the news reports.
Laura comes to see Yadi. She shows Laura the pregnancy test. Laura is thrilled. Not so fast. Yadi doesn’t know if it’s Gael’s or Duque’s. She doesn’t know what to do. She doesn’t know if she could love Duque’s child. But she doesn’t want to abort Gael’s baby.
They look up prenatal paternity testing. Laura advises her to tell Gael. She notes the baby is also Yadi’s, her blood. She tells Yadi that she loves Miguel even though his father was a bastard.
Dani asks if Mateo can stay with them. The others talk Glo into at least letting Mateo stay for dinner.
Miguel gets in deeper at juvie. Older boys come to see him. Word got out that he sold drugs in the US. The leader wants him in their business. He turns them down. He doesn’t do that anymore. The leader isn’t happy. This might be trouble for Miguel.
Mono and another henchie are back watching Yadi’s house. Nacho warned them not to come back empty handed. They plan to break in to the house and surprise them.
Yadi and Gael walk Laura out and wait with her for a taxi. Mono is ready to make his move, but Mau and Dario show up to question our friends on Gloria’s whereabouts. Laura’s taxi arrives. The others go into the house. Mono decides to follow Laura’s taxi.
Estrada calls Glo. He wants to send guards to her. She doesn’t want them, it will only call unwanted attention. He hears Dani call Mateo and warns Glo about the danger of keeping him around.
Mau says he can only help Glo if she turns herself in. They will protect Dani. They need Yadi’s help. Yadi refuses. Besides they don’t know where Glo is. They haven’t been able to reach her.
Laura is dropped off. While she’s on the phone with Fercho a group of masked men knock her down. She manages to tell Fercho that she’s being kidnapped. She’s dragged into a car.
After dinner, Glo tells Mateo to get lost.
Luisa continues to goad Duque into killing Nacho.
Yadi tells Gael she’s pregnant. He’s excited. She’s not. He asks her how far along. She answers, a few weeks. It dawns on Gael.
Laura is brought to Nacho. Duque is present. Nacho wants info on Gloria’s location, or he will kill her son.
Mateo tells Glo he will leave the house but he will stick around to protect her and her family. She still doesn’t forgive him for working with Duque. He starts to leave and asks, what do I do with the love I feel for you? Tell me you don’t feel the same about me. Glo doesn’t want Dani to be hurt. She opens the door for him. And here comes the kisses… lots of kisses.
And we are out.
Thanks VERY much, novelera, for all these wonderful comments. I especially like your explanation for Ana's reluctance to acknowledge that she's dating Carlos.
And then there's birdbrain Cris's suggestion that she and Alberto go off to Iceland for a month. I enjoyed your "I guess she could be that clueless."
So you too were surprised that the news coverage of Francisco's death didn't mention that he'd been shot. Like you, I was aware that that knowledge might have given Luisa a bit of relief and hope.
I'm frankly looking forward to Alberto's confronting Cris about her treatment of Raúl. I'm really interested to see how she'll explain it. And yes, Alberto's anger or even just disappointment may be more than she can handle.
We see a very impactful scene between Isabel and Gloria. Gloria’s come to the sewing room to scare Isabel, but it doesn’t work. Isabel pulls her trump card. She married Benjamin in Mexico and has the documents to prove it. And she left a copy in Mexico just in case. Looks like Valeria was born out of wedlock.
Raul tells Alberto and Mateo about Cris not helping him after Enrique’s sabotage. He also has a judge’s decision clearing him of the charge of copying someone else’s designs. He also shows them Ana’s original designs and that they were altered by Lorenzo Spinetti.
Raul, the wrecking ball, confronts Enrique with Valeria there as a witness that the way Enrique forced him out had no basis in fact. Valerie looks pretty shocked.
Alberto is cold as ice with Cris. He says she kept to herself the way Raul left the company and sided with her brother against Raul. He abruptly dismisses her.
Pedro and Marga almost have a moment; but, of course, Dr. Pants shows up and with flowers. Pedro drops a hammer on his foot as if accidentally.
A woman from the company Sague (or whatever it’s called) shows up and harshly criticizes Ana’s designs. Was she the woman Alberto told his troubles to in the bar? I wasn’t sure.
Alberto lights into Enrique about their (Ana’s) designs being rejected because Lorenzo changed the ones the board approved.
Carlos tells Ana he may have a way to get the Sague company to reconsider.
Clara tells Pedro that nothing happened between Marga and Dr. Pants. He’s over the moon.
Alberto tells Ana he feels it was his fault that Lorenzo was able to change her designs. She says Lorenzo is unscrupulous and eventually tells him about the harassment of Blanca and recently toward Ana herself.
Raul doesn’t buy Cristina’s “It was my wedding day” crap”. He reminds her he knocked himself out to make her wedding perfect. At lunch he tells her he doesn’t trust her anymore. And he warns her about Enrique.
Blanca tells Mateo and H.R. about Lorenzo’s inviting her out and reprisal when she didn’t go.
The Luisa actor is, IMHO, overacting about the death of Francisco. But she does find out about his having been shot.
Cris runs to Daddy and tells Gerardo about what Enrique did to Raul. Raul could sue, and the way he was let go would damage their reputation. She also mentions that Lorenzo has produced exactly zero.
Gerardo confronts Enrique, who starts off lying. Gerardo tells him Raul may sue and the way he was let go will be out in the open. Enrique backs down and admits he “pulled a few strings”.
Raul insists on an apology from Enrique to come back. Later we see him with the women, and he’s pouring champagne again.
Cris humbly apologizes to Alberto. Then she seems to be channeling Barbie’s advice about how to keep your man: have a baby.
Blanca and Max kiss in that same back area and are surprised by Isabel.
Novelera, thank you so much for covering. We didn't arrive until 11 p.m. last night so haven't watched it yet. Yay, Raul is back and kicking butt. I'm also tired of the Pedro/Margarita comedy of errors.
Depending on my schedule not sure when I'll get to it. We only get back here at most twice a year and a lot of my time I spend doing yardwork. My son barely keeps up with the mowing and all my former flower beds are a jungle. ( He bought our house). I may just have to break down and get some round up to kill some of the invasives. My body can't handle the work anymore!
Dondi356: Things are getting much dangerous as Scumbag Duque & Creepy Nacho enjoy torturing Annoying Laura & the bullies rough up Miguel over at the so-called reform school.
Fercho of course worried about Laura & Miguel's safety, all but sells out Gloria & Co.,
Kat in SC: Things are heating up with the closing stretch.
Many thanks, novelera, for this short but very helpful recap.
The opening scene between Gloria and Isabel showed a smart, emotionally strong Isabel that I hadn't seen before. She contemptuously dismisses Gloria's attempt to buy her off and tells (reminds?) Gloria that "That man [in Oaxaca] was sent to kill me. He almost did. He was sent by someone who wanted me dead." [Now who could that have been, Gloria?] Gloria points out that she (Gloria) is a powerful woman here, whereas Isabel is a stranger.
But she's not scaring Isabel, who replies "I've lost everything, but you have a lot to lose." And, as you novelera point out, Isabel married Benjamin in Mexico and is thus his legal widow.
Thanks for pointing out that since Gloria's marriage to Benjamin may not have been legal, Valeria may have been born out of wedlock. I suspect Valeria won't be pleased to learn this.
I too wondered whether the woman from "Sague or whatever it's called" was the woman in white who met a drunk Alberto in a bar. Like you, I'm not sure.
Pedro is ecstatic to learn that Marga is a virgin, but in 2025 I find his delight immensely annoying and hypocritical.
I was glad to see that both Blanca and Ana reported Lorenzo's inappropriate behavior, and that he was then fired.
When Cris tells her father what Enrique did to Raúl, she seemed suddenly like an experienced business executive rather than the airhead I've always assumed her to be. As you say, she mentions the possibility that Raúl could sue, that his treatment could damage Velvet's reputation, and that Lorenzo had zero productivity.
I'm curious to see how Isabel reacts to seeing Blanca and Max kissing.
