Emilio fills in Isabela on the whole Alberto-Cristina-Ana situation. She thinks that’s nuts because things have change. But Emilio explains that no they haven’t and she should know what it’s like to go up against a powerful family.
.
Pedro nurses Marga. Boring until he tells her that he’s falling in love with her. Then she almost falls asleep because this was not the time for this convo. But she does manage to tell him that she’s loved him but falls asleep as he kisses her. Then Clara comes in, freaking out Pedro, but she just wants to watch her sister for now.
.
Ana argues with Mateo about the whole “we’re dating” lie. Mateo defends this nonsense by reminding her about the store (because who cares about Cris’s feelings about being lied to).
.
Gloria reminds Alberto about the importance of Cristina and her money, and that if the marriage doesn’t go through, it’s Ana who will suffer.
.
Luisa talks to the skeevy old man (SOM) who offers to talk to a lawyer for her. She thanks him and gives him a hug. Francisco is his name but he’s still a SOM.
.
Raul comes to Al’s office the next day and says he still works there. Yay! He explains his arrangement with Gerardo and the new collection he’ll design.
.
Marga is all better and at a park with Luisa telling her about the Pedro thing the day before but she thinks it might have been a dream. Luisa starts to ask about the doctor who helped her before Pedro interrupts. Marga asks him if he was in her room the day before, but then she takes a call from the doctor himself! Not sure Pedro can compete with Dr. Handsomepants.
.
Isabel comes to the store and almost faints when she is helped by Ana. Emilio comes by and asks what the heck she’s doing there. She’s happy to have met his niece and he introduces her as an old friend of her mother’s from Oaxaca.
.
The henchman is talking to Gloria in a bar about Isabel. He doesn’t know where she is because his men lost him, but he doesn’t think she could be in NY. She doesn’t have money and doesn’t know anyone here. But Gloria knows one person she might know. (Dramatic music).
.
Ana fills in Marga about the whole Cris-Mateo’s lie situation. Marga is like, What? He has a girlfriend and she is my sister! Ana knows how dumb this whole thing is, but Cris was loca that night. Then Clara comes in all excited about going to the big fancy wedding with HER boyfriend and she bought a fancy Carmen Garza dress that cost a fortune but it’s ok because she’s going to a society wedding with HER boyfriend. No one fills her in yet about the Situation.
.
Blanca and Max talk She thinks they should chill but he wants to know why. He doesn’t care about what other people think. She thinks he wants something more that she can’t give and she ends it. He’s sad. (And I guess I was way wrong about thinking that he might still her real son because ewww).

.
Ana and Mateo talk and are interrupted by Barbie who is a complete bitch. Sorry, but she is. She wants a pic of the happy couple and neither of them smile. And then Clara comes in and Barbie talks up the happy couple (I assume Barbie knows that Mateo and Clara are together? Or maybe not and she’s just just being a jerk?) Clara says “Que?”?! (Enrique is garbage but I’m not going to feel sorry for Barbie when her marriage blows up). Then she says she’s leaving because she’s bored, Clara storms out, and Mateo follows.
.
Clara is crying about him and Ana. Mateo wants to explain and he actually manages to do this. She forgives him for saving Alberto and Ana and she hugs him. Then she slaps him, as he deserves, for doing this to her. And he gets another slap when he tells her he has to go to the wedding with Ana.
.
More of Max trying to convince Blanca that they should be together. But there is nothing he can say that would change her mind. He leaves and sad music plays.
.
Hey! The doctor is back! And he’s talking to Marga! He checks her hand, for free, and gives her chocolates, which is way more that I get from my doctor. But then he tries to feed her a chocolate, which is weird, and she tries to feed it back to him (still weird), which Pedro sees. He drops whatever he was carrying and they rush over to help.
.
Enrique talks to someone but I miss the convo. He remembers how Raul got the better of him y going right to Gerardo about getting his job back, so I think he’s targeting Raul now. Mega-sucks? Is that a new category? Because Enrique and his beautiful eyes can stuff it.
.
Blana and Luisa talk about getting her kid back. She has the law on her side and she is not going to play dirty. She’s happy about this decision. And then we see Ramon getting the crap beat out of him by a couple guys who work for SOM, who threatens him. He drops drugs by Ramon and leaves just as the cops show up with guns drawn on Ramon. (Not sure if I’m upset about this, except for how it’s going to come back to bite Luisa).
.
Clara is crying and eating all the chocolate over the Situation. She had a dress by CARMEN GARZA? Don’t they understand that??? And then Marga spills that Ana IS Carmen Garza!
.
Emilio comes home with a dress for Isabel because Emilio doesn’t want her to miss her son’s wedding.
.
Ana goes to work on a dress for alterations and finds it missing. It’s Cris’s wedding dress. Uh oh.
.
Ana is distraught over the loss of the dress and Clara, Marga, and Pedro look. Pedro is looking in random boxes, which doesn’t seem helpful.
.
Raul wants to take Mateo and Al out for drinks and he doesn’t care that Al isn’t in the mood. He has decided this is a time to party. Al tries to get support from Mateo because he wants to work, but Mateo agrees with Raul.

.
Emilio shows Isabel some of the dresses that Ana has designed. Isabel can’t understand why Al would accept this. Then Emilio gets a call of some drama and asks “what happened?”
.
Quick scene of Blanca seeing Max come home with some chica. He looks at her, seems a little unhappy, and goes into his room.
.
Then Emilio gets to Blanca’s to tell her about the dress. Back to the atelier, they decide, for some reason, that Al needs to be told in person when they find out where the boys are from Raul’s (I assume) social media post. Clara stays behind, just in case of ?
.
The boys are talking work and drinking. Enrique shows up with someone who is not Barbie. He acts nice but everyone knows he isn’t being nice. Al says he should go home to his wife and he tells Al to know his place. Enrique is all Enrique-like and digs into Al about just marrying Cris for her money. This is true, of course, but Al still has to punch Enrique. (I’m ok with this). Raul and Mateo break this up. Mateo apologizes to the bar and Raul pours out more booze which seems like a mistake.
.
Cris is all sad and looking at pics. Gerardo comes by to ask how she’s doing. She talks about how she wished her mother was here and how much she misses her. Then she asks why her mother killed herself. (And this convo makes me hate her situation and Gerardo even more- they are rich and could have afforded some real therapy instead of the “just marry her off” plan). He gives some reason and she hugs him in the end but he’s still wrong. (The actress is very good at looking sad. And unstable. Gerardo is also in the new megasucks category. He’s worse than Gloria even. She has a reason for being evil but Ger is just too lazy to even pay someone to get his daughter some help).
.
Back at the bar, Ana and Marga have gotten there and tell Raul what’s up with the dress. He thinks it’s a joke but no. Everyone- the atelier folk, Emilio and Blanca, Raul- are all back at the workroom panicking about the dress. I guess the wedding is tomorrow? Because Raul orders fabric to be brought over and demands the table be cleared! Then he passes out and everyone realizes he’s wasted. They all turn to Ana. Carmen Garza to the rescue! Maybe! We’ll find out tomorrow.
.

Thanks very much, K, for another sparkling and helpful recap.
Did Francisco really tell Luisa that he would talk to a lawyer for her? I must have missed that. I thought he had offered to help her because he was a highly accomplished lawyer who knew a lot of influential people, including judges. Until tonight's episode, I was unsure what to make of him. Yes, I remember him looking at Luisa trying on the dress with the curtain slightly opened, but I wasn't really convinced that he was a "skeevy old man." But his having Ramon beaten up by two thugs AND planting some drugs nearby for the police to find have convinced me that he's in the "sucks" category and not someone Luisa should trust. (I have to confess, though, that I rather enjoyed seeing Ramon on the receiving end of nasty, deceitful treatment.)
I don't think Barbie knew that Mateo and Clara are together. I agree more with the second possibility you propose: "she's just being a jerk."
Probably as a result of my watching too many crime shows, when the doctor tries to feed Marga a chocolate and she wants him to have one first, I immediately wondered whether she was trying to make sure that the chocolate didn't contain a drug of some kind (a la what happened to Jennifer in an earlier episode).
I wonder how many people Enrique [hiss here] wants to harm. It's not enough that he wants to get rid of Alberto, he also wants to get rid of Raúl, to teach him not to go over his head (as Raúl did when he convinced Gerardo to let him stay at Velvet). K, I like your "mega-sucks" addition. It seems the right designation for both Enrique and Gloria.
I wonder what happened to Cristina's wedding dress. And is it really possible to make another one overnight, especially with Raúl out of commission thanks to all that alcohol? I hope you're right about "Carmen Garza to the rescue!"
I think Enrique is behind the missing dress. That Asian looking guy he was plotting with probably orchestrated it. Have you ever watched the great British Sewing Bee? 10 hours is plenty of time, especially with half a dozen women working on it. As Raul said, fewer rhinestones on it. The tough part is not having the bride available for the final fitting.I think it is totally weird that these brides get ready at Velvet though when Gerardo has a perfectly lovely mansion to serve as a backdrop to a lovely photo session. Why the bridesmaids dresses were delivered makes little sense though. I would assume they are all prepping at the same location.
So Francisco is a hot shot lawyer with a firm. He has some of his best looking for proof Ramon created the fake profile. And he is going to talk to the judge, he knows where she eats lunch. I think he made a tactical error threatening Ramon though. If Luisa goes back to court then he may be identified by Ramon and his law team. Of course if the drug charges stick( no fingerprints of Ramon on the bag dropped) then Luisa regains Michael without a court case I would think. Did you see all that gold jewelry Ramon was wearing. He probably is dealing drugs. Even if his family is wealthy I doubt he has that big an allowance, especially since he was stealing the lottery pool money from Luisa.
Ana has to be in 2 places at once tomorrow it seems. She has that interview as the new design head at the fashion house, and a wedding.
Great points, Kat! I've never watched the British Sewing Bee and am happy to learn that it's possible to make a similar wedding dress in 10 hours, given Velvet's staff working on it. And i agree with the other points you make in the "dress" paragraph, points I hadn't really thought about. I also found your "Francisco" paragraph stimulating. Many thanks!
You again knocked this one out of the park, K! [The Giants are winning, so....
Isabel is right and Emilio is living in the last century. I do not think the "social standing" matters as much as he thinks it does. That seemed to be his main reason for not wanting Alberto and Ana together.
Loved SOM. Perfect! And this is not what Luisa wanted. She wanted SOM's first-rate lawyers and the judge that seems to be in his pocket. Plus his IT people were supposed to expose the photos Ramon put up as NOT being put on a dating profile by Luisa. Does he have cops on his payroll or did he call in a 911 thing about seeing a guy with drugs on the sidewalk?
I don't get chocolates from my doctor either, K. The one I had for over 20 years retired last year. I dropped off a card extolling her years of being the best doc ever at her clinic. The new one is meh.
Raul convinced Alberto to come out for a bachelor party. Of course this resulted in his passing out drunk.
Clara, pfft! She should be putting money in a 401K instead of blowing it on designer dresses to "measure up" to others at the so-called society wedding. I'm pretty tired of the Mateo/Clara thing anyway.
ITA about the Cristina actor being very good. She brings it in every scene, especially when she's portraying her instability.
Laughed out loud at Dr. Handsomepants! I don't know if they needed to throw in some competition for Pedro. I'm more than ready for Pedro and Marga to be a couple and let's move on.
I agree that the Cristina actress is outstanding! She is very attractive. Her expressive face conveys so many feelings. I feel sorry for her with her father and brother manipulating her.
I’m looking forward to seeing the frantic “Sewing Bee” tonight. I agree we all like Raul. I also want Blanca to find happiness with Max.
I almost felt sorry for Ramon. Francisco is dangerous, and Luisa may be in real danger.
That’s all I have time for! Great recap K!
Babachita
Thanks, Everyone, for filling things in for me. It’s hard enough to get the details when I’m paying close attention. Trying to type at the same time makes it extra hard.
But I can’t wait to see this dress they come up with! And see Raul’s reaction to the dress he “designed” while passed out drunk. Unless they just copy the original, which, boring.

We begin again with Duque telling Nacho over the phone that Gloria is working for Estrada. This is while Nacho is in Gloria’s hospital room.
Stone faced Nacho tells Gloria about Estrada having gone to the new Governor of Baja California, telling him he knew about the money Gloria had given him for his campaign. And that the Gov needed to let Estrada’s product pass through. Nacho also says that Duque said that she works for Estrada. Gloria stays cool.
Mateo finds out Nacho has threatened/bribed an official at the hospital to make Gloria’s room inaccessible.
Miguel finds out the results of his acting out at school. He could end up in foster care. He promises to behave from now on. Long story short, Gloria is going to marry Fercho. This will give her legal residence in Mexico.
I’m not writing the loooong conversation between Nacho and Gloria. She makes a good point telling him she’d never work for Estrada because he failed to protect Eduardo.
Mati comes home angry because she couldn’t get in to see Gloria. Luisa rolls in for her usual nasty comments.
Violeta gives some soup and some good advice to Yadira.
Nacho has Gloria call Montoya. Montoya picks up, which he hasn’t been doing for Nacho recently. But she manages to say Nacho is with her, so nothing is said about their deal. Later Montoya rags on Estrada thinking that Gloria really is still with Nacho.
For her trump card Gloria tells Nacho that Duque and Debora were lying in wait to kill her. Nacho doesn’t know that Gloria knows that Duque never left his employ, so this was a good move.
Duque presents himself to the boss, asking how things went with Gloria. But he gets a surprise. Nacho asks if he was behind the plan Debora had to kill Gloria. Nacho then points a gun at his head.
Mati tells Dani that they’re moving. Once the tunnels are blown up, they all need to hide away from Nacho.
Duque tries to talk his way out of his predicament. He swears he was always loyal. He says that he could easily have killed Gloria anytime, why would he wait so long. [But he doesn’t bring up the fact that Nacho told him all along not to harm Gloria.]
Mati tells Luisa that they have to move away and to hide. She doesn’t think Luisa can come with because she doesn’t think she can trust her.
Duque and Nacho both pull guns on each other. But one of Nacho’s guys points the gun at the back of Duque’s head. Nacho is too dumb to kill him off, or the writers want to keep him around as a threat.
They take about 10 minutes to blow up the border tunnels. Yawn. Mauricio is there for the explosions and then he calls Gloria to say it’s done.
Gloria has a plan to sneak out of the hospital and disappear before Nacho finds out about the tunnels.
The episode begins with a repeat of the scene where Cristina's wedding dress goes missing. They have 10 hours (mostly overnight) to make a new one. Raúl tries to calm down by taking deep breaths and then passes out. Blanca doesn't think they can make a new dress in time. Ana says, "Yes, I can."
Luisa, Marga, Blanca, and perhaps some others all get to work helping Ana. Ana is apparently having lots of mental flashbacks to times when she and Alberto were a happy couple. And then not.
Morning comes. They seem to have succeeded. Marga hugs Raúl, who has emerged from his drunken stupor. He asks/says "I did this last night?" Marga tells him that no, he didn't. He passed out five minutes after he arrived. Raúl is nonetheless delighted with the new dress. He tells Ana that she has elevated his design, and he thanks her.
Elsewhere in Velvet, we see Gloria in a somewhat sexy black dress. (Why is she wearing black on the day Cris is getting married?) She sees Emilio and tells him to remember his place. "You and your niece. If I find you are not loyal to me, I'll kick you out of Velvet.
Valeria wishes Alberto (who, I keep forgetting, is her half-brother) all the best. She urges him not to ruin his deal with the Oteguis.
Cris comes to see her wedding dress. Raúl breaks the news to her that the dress has disappeared. But not to worry. He shows her another long white dress. She starts to have a fit--it's not the right color or fabric or design. It turns out that it's not the one they made last night--I don't understand why he showed her this one. Anyway, he then shows her the one they slaved over to make that night. He tells her that Ana turned the design into something magnificent. Cris says nothing. Just as I'm about to think she'll reject it, she declares "It's fantastic! I love it!!"
Enrique orders Rick to take all of Raúl de la Riva's work out of the showroom.
Cris apologizes to Ana. She says, "When I saw the cards in the wastebasket, and then I saw you with Alberto, I thought you were the slut who had sent the cards. I was wrong. I'm sorry." She wants to give Ana a gift to make up for the misunderstanding. She offers Ana money to take a trip to any place she'd like. Ana says she cannot accept the gift. Finally, Cris proposes that after Alberto and she return from their honeymoon, she and Mateo join them for dinner. Mateo is Alberto's best friend, and she'd like to be good friends with Ana.
A furious Raúl comes to see Enrique, demanding to know why all the clothes he designed have been removed from the store. Enrique tells him the industry is unstable, and times change. He then takes out the article about another designer accusing Raúl of stealing his designs. Enrique points out that Raúl didn't mention this when he was hired at Velvet. Raúl claims he was innocent, the other designer had stolen his designs. Enrique insists that Raúl leave Velvet. If he doesn't, the charges against him will all come out (thanks to Enrique) and Raúl will be "cancelled." Raúl replies, "You're disgusting. I should have let Alberto finish messing up your face." Enrique says, "Alberto will get his, too."
Ana and Blanca are talking in the Velvet showroom when they hear Cris yelling. They go to see what's wrong. Cris has discovered a rip in the new wedding gown. She insists she can't wear it. People assure her that it can be fixed. Cris insists that Ana be the one to fix it, "she's the only one I trust," she says. Ana says she can't do it, she has another appointment (to present her designs to the committee that will select a creative director to work with the best European fashion houses). Cris is adamant--only Ana can fix it. Gloria insists that Ana can't let outside appointments take precedence over her work at Velvet. Ana reluctantly agrees to fix the dress.
Max and Blanca run into each other in a hallway at Velvet. Max would like to continue their relationship, but Blanca, who had seen him with a young woman soon after they broke up, says "We broke up and you found a replacement." He suggests that she's jealous. She replies, "I thought I was important to you." Max insists she is important to him: "I want to spend my life with you. Just let me be around you. No labels." They end up kissing passionately.
Raúl tells Cris that she's beautiful, and then informs her that he's leaving Velvet and asks her not to tell anyone. She is stunned and asks why he's leaving. He tells her about his discussion with Enrique and his threat to spread word of the plagiarism accusation unless he leaves. To my surprise, Cris tells him he should have mentioned the accusation when he was hired, and she thinks it's best if he quits! She then says she doesn't want to think about this now, it's her wedding day. She asks him to help her with her vest. Raúl looks stunned (me too).
Having succeeded in fixing the rip in Cris's wedding dress, Ana races off to go to present her designs to the committee that will hire a new designer. Clutching her design portfolio, she races down the street, trips, and almost loses the designs. She retrieves them and arrives at the place where the committee is meeting. Her former professor greets her and informs her that the committee is very strict, and when she didn't appear when they called her name, they dismissed her from consideration.
A disheartened Ana returns to Velvet and tells Luisa that the committee wouldn't even look at her designs. She asks Luisa whether she's going to the wedding. Luisa says no, she is waiting to hear from Francisco about the custody battle. Luisa asks if Ana is going. "Yes," says Ana, "I need to see them get married to realize that it's over."
Alberto tells Mateo that he doesn't love Cris, he loves Ana. Mateo replies, "Ana is in the past. You have to grow up."
Cris and Gerardo arrive at the wedding site. She's very happy until she learns that Alberto hasn't yet shown up. Gerardo tells Enrique to find Alberto.
Francisco arrives and tells Luisa that things are looking good. Ramon was arrested for drugs. There were drugs near him and others in the car. Luisa is puzzled. Ramon drank too much and stole from her, but as far as she knew, he never sold drugs. Francisco assures her that she will soon have custody of her son. He asks Luisa to come to his office tomorrow so they can discuss her case. "I don't know how I can ever thank you," she says. (I suspect I'm not the only one on the patio who groaned.)
Alberto rushes into the church after everyone is there. He stands at the altar to await Cris's entry down the aisle, accompanied by her father. Emilio is in the audience with Isabel, who observes that Alberto doesn't look happy. She crosses herself. The ceremony takes place, and we get to the key part: "Alberto Márquez, do you accept as your wife Cristina Ortegui?" A LONG SILENCE ensues, followed by commercials. Finally, "Sí...accepto." And then he turns and looks at Ana instead of Cris. Cris says her accepto, and the priest proclaims them husband and wife, and tells Alberto he can kiss his bride.
Mateo looks at Ana and asks whether she feels well. She says no, she doesn't. "I want to go home. It hurts too much." Mateo says he'll figure out an excuse.
We see Ana stand in front of Velvet. There's a big "closed" sign on the door. A nice-looking guy comes by, stops at the door, and asks when Velvet is likely to open. Ana tells him it's closed for a wedding and will open the next day. He holds up the clothes carrier he's been holding and says "What do I do with this? It's lovely, but it doesn't fit me." It turns out to be Cris's wedding gown, which was erroneously delivered to him. Ana tells him about the saga of the second wedding dress that was made in one day--or, more precisely, in one night. She tells him she oversaw the project. He asks if she's a famous designer at top of the line Velvet. She replies that no, she's just a seamstress. He introduces himself as Carlos Balcarcel and tells Ana "I believe in coincidence. I think there's a reason why we met." He then goes on to say, "Why don't you repay my returning this dress by joining me for dinner?" Ana gradually smiles and says, "Perhaps." And on that positive note, the episode ends.
