A.MAR Capítulo 31 Parte 1 Notes from the Couch . . .

THE MAIN COURSE

Brisa scurries over to see Marina at work to find out what is going on with Gabriel. They agree that he is upset and they want him to be okay. Marina says that he is having problems with this guy Víctor from the Public Registry. Brisa demands to know what the problem is. Marina says that Gabriel must not have told Brisa for a reason. Brisa hits back no, he must not have told Marina for a reason. Okay . . .

In the meantime, Gabriel is turned down for a loan from a bank and he refuses to tell Marina what is going on. He loves her but he cannot tell her. He doesn't want to burden her.

Never easily dissuaded from pursuing the "love" of her life, Brisa goes to the Public Ministry where she introduces herself to Víctor. She is supposedly there to get her father's death certificate. Víctor asks how she is panning on paying him. She suggests that they go out for a drink later so they can get to know each other better. He likes that.

As they chat over their drinks, Brisa acts like she is putting the moves on Víctor. He thinks Gabriel is an idiot. Brisa agrees. They may not be novios but they are still the closest of friends sharing everything except for what is going on with him now. Víctor mentions that Gabriel could end up in jail. Brisa cannot believe that. He wouldn't do anything that bad. He asks her if it is a minor thing to rob a child and pass him off as his own son.

Brisa heads straight over to see Gabriel telling him she cannot believe what Víctor told her that Iker is not his son. Gabriel is getting increasing upset and tells her that Víctor told her a lie. She thinks not and now knows why there are no pictures of Iker's mother in the house. He insists that he could never do anything like that. Suddenly he loses it and starts to cry. He didn't steal Iker. He saved him.

There had been a hurricane and everything was destroyed. As he was helping to look for survivors at a demolished hotel, he heard a cry coming from beneath a piece of furniture. He found a baby there. He thinks that Iker's parents mush have died. He reported the abandoned infant to the police but nobody ever came to claim him. Brisa says he had no right to keep him. He never plan on being a father but ended up feeling like one. As time went on, it seemed too late to turn him over to the state and see him end up in an orphanage . That is where Victor came in. Now Víctor is blackmailing him. Iker has nobody else. He starts to sob and falls into Brisa's waiting arms. Marina walks in and is not happy.

Marina wants to know what is going on with him in the arms of his ex. She knows it is about Víctor but he refuses to tell her anything else. She leaves and he follows. She accsues hiof trusitng Brisa more than he does her. He tells her he loves her but refuses to tell her anything else. She tells him that she needs to trust the man she loves and she can't trust him. He allowed Brisa back into his home so now he should go back and be with her. She leaves him alone on the beach.

THE SIDES

While talking with Nemesio, Oliver sees Javier making out with another girl. He makes sure that he knows that he saw him. Javier insists it isn't what he thinks and that if he were to tell Yazmín about it in her current delicate mental state, it would just push her over the edge. The girl hears the talk about Javier's novia, slaps him and leaves. Later, Nemesio and Oliver see Javier with Yazmín and her grandfather. Javier tries to prevent Oliver from saying anything. Oliver cannot take it and tells Yazmín about her cheating novio. She breaks into tears while Gonzalo wants to know why Javier is making his granddaughter cry.
 

A.MAR Parte 2

Valentín calls Pascual who is doing well saying he has gotten over Perla and is only wishing her the best.. Valentín reports that he heard that somebody they know is interested in her. The line suddenly goes dead before he can confess that it is him. It seems that Pascual cut off the call because if he knew who it was, it would upset him. His religious mother tells him the story of Job who fought for his faith. She thinks that he should follow in Job's steps and fight for Perla. She prays for him and tells him to arise and walk!

Azul is out with Iker, Gonzalo, and Meche at the only restaurant in town. After spying on Fabián and Estrella on the beach kissing, Erika comes in and decides to tell Azul that her mother and Fabián are novios. Azul is upset.

THE DESSERT

Fabián has planned a lovely candle lit supper for Estrella and himself on the beach. They toast to each other. They kiss. He finds some music on his phone and they dance and kiss some more.

Jarifa, thank you for the delicious dishes you served, perfectly characterized as a delectable, full course feast.

Once again, a distraught Gabriel falls into the wrong woman's arms. I could not follow what he was telling Brisa so thank you for explaining his tearful, remorseful sobbing. "...he was helping to look for survivors at a demolished hotel" sounds similar to the scene at the decimated dwelling where he and Marina were looking for her lost child. But he would have recognized it of course, right?

Then Gabriel compounds his mistakes by refusing to tell Marina what's wrong. Thick as a brick. No loan, no prospects, no girl friend and if he doesn't get his act together, no son...

I'm hoping Yaz now has the wake up call she so desperately needed and will cut Javier loose...

With Pascual's encouragement from mama, it seems there will be no clearing the way for Valentin to tell Perla how he feels. Another road block. Great...

I have to say that Fabian set a beautiful, romantic scene for Estrella. The ocean could not have been a more perfect setting. Although things were falling apart for most, a sliver of hope for true love cuts through the clouds.

Where’s Lale????

The problem with this episode is that it was too short. I wanted more!

I loved the scene with Reha and Lale – wonderfully written, wonderfully acted. And speaking of that scene, how did he get his office decorated so quickly? For that matter, how did he and Hande get their condo decorated so quickly? Maybe Hande has nothing else to do.

Attila did well at soccer, even made a few moves that showed he knew very well what he was doing. I thought sure he’d win the game for their side, but no.

I wonder what the consequence would be if his father finds out he didn’t kill his brother. Both he and the henchman agreed they knew.

What a nerve on the part of Irmak’s suegra to bring in a caretaker, adding another person to Filiz’s household without asking. And also implying Filiz couldn’t take care of her own daughter. Grrrr.

What a pretty show! But there was our hero seeing his wife and his most trusted man smooching away passionately. And figured out they were the ones who had embezzled all that money! That made him ….. mad. His jaw clenched, he was steely eyed. That’s it? Can’t he crumple to the ground in agony? Maybe throw some furniture around? Rage at the heavens? Get roaring drunk? This is a melodrama and I think they really didn’t bring the melodrama.

I did like the horses! That beautiful black one, which must be a Frisian because look at that mane, the other horse that was so fast it overtook a getaway car.

It seemed to me that just because a groom has a wife he forgot to divorce it doesn’t mean that he doesn’t love the bride. What would be the evil advantage for him, as he seems to be rich and her family is strapped for money? Did he have his eyes on getting the hacienda?

I made this comment last weekend, but I think everybody had pretty much finished up with Caray by then. I thought I’d re-post it here because it applies:

When I’m not loathing Reha I’m really admiring how is part is written and also what a splendid job the actor is doing. I often think about the actors – are they having fun with their parts? In some of the telenovelas I wonder if they’re exasperated by the scripts. I bet the Reha actor is having a blast with his character. What a juicy part!

I finally get to watch something with you all because I watched juegos but followed its schedule when it aired in Mexicco. So those two did steal the money? Did they manage to run away? And I still don't get why that lady (haven't learnt her name yet) chose that other guy. Does anyone remember what Leonel told that friend of his at the very beginning, where he talked about it being time for him to have his own hacienda? That Alba's family is quite something...That abuelita reminded me of those parents from another telenovela who weradicted to gambling. Alba tried so hard to not lose herself as she put it. I already feel sorry for her as she is supposed to marry Leonel if I understood correctly. He is furious now. I found it touching he didn't want his kids to grow up hating their mum, though.
A bit off topic, but does anyone know if we're likely to see something similar to Juegos in the near future?

Wow !!! What a beginning episode ...strawberry fields , horses, the quaint town with ancient buildings , women wearing colorful , regional dresses , the festival with the band and singers dressed in red gowns and huge rose head dresses

It seems that Fernando is finally back to the types of roles that made him famous . ...Alborado, Amor Real, Pasion .This opening episode felt very Carla Estrada ...wow !

We even got Diego Klein .! I cannot wait to see Daniel Elbittar interact with Fernando .

So many familiar faces . Leonel's nana looks so familiar . Was she the pirate queen in "Alboarada " ?

At the start , I thought we were going to see the guy from " Jefa" play a good guy....nopis! Susan

Diana, it was quite the episode wasn't it? I think you hit it on the head with ' "...he was helping to look for survivors at a demolished hotel" sounds similar to the scene at the decimated dwelling where he and Marina were looking for her lost child. But he would have recognized it of course, right?' Who knows? I like the mystery but I was quite disappointed with Gabriel falling into Brisa's arms. He should have fallen on the floor. I cannot blame Marina for her hasty departure. What was she supposed to think with all of his double talk? It made no sense at all. "Thick as a brick Gabriel"is another keeper for this episode. : )

No, it does't look like Valentín will tell Pascual about how he feels about Perla any time soon. The plot has overstayed its welcome IMO. Oh, well . . .

I could have done with more time dedicated to the romantic beach date. It was the highlight for me.

This sure got off to a quick start. Susan, I agree that the episode was beautiful to watch. The only complaint I had was that Leonel and Alba should have sold their rings for cold hard cash rather than throwing them in the river. Loved the portrait of Leonel's womanizing father. It was Eric del Castillo! Hope we see him in flashbacks. So, Alba's family was only interested in the money that Gregorio was bringing into the family and Leonel's wife was running away with his right hand man. Looks like Leonel's sister Atocha has no use for him either. Loved the water fall scene and Colunga on horseback. This could be my new weekend binge watch if I can't keep up during the week.

Jarifa, ahh yes, Fernando on horseback brought back memories of Luis and his guys riding up in the surf to rescue Hippopotamus in Alborado.

Loved the symbolism of Leonel and Alba throwing their wedding rings into the river ..him on his steed above and her below.

OT waterlily, I wish you had commented on Juegos. Was it running ahead or behind the US showing. I really liked the show. A bit of mystery. Not too many good guys were hurt or murdered, the dog was in a cooler so we didn't see that gory scene, and no misunderstood lovers with the main protagonists. It didn't follow the standard telenovela script which I think made it more interesting.

I started watching Amanecer last night but since I watch both 9 p.m. shows I couldn't start it until after 10: 30 and I was hoping for a detailed recap to help.me with the characters today when I watch the rest of it. I thought the little girl was Sam from Receta so I looked up the cast list but since I have no names to work from yet I wasn't sure if it is the same child actress.

I had the same thought as you and Diana, he finds a baby at a destroyed hotel, and hasn’t gotten any connection to his search with Marina. I could be wrong, but when they were at the ruins I thought he mentioned a hotel higher up from the beach. That would be where someone with a house on a beach would go to in a hurricane. I’m hoping Marina will get a connection if Gabriela ever tells her about Iker. I’m pretty sure she’s his mom.

Glad the older man was with Oliver and could back his story. Hopefully Yazmin will move on from Javier.

Shame on Erika for using Azul like she is. She is getting more evil each episode. Luckily we have more than enough good people!

I couldn’t believe Reha told his kids that their mom and Atilla were lovers. That’s very different than exchanging a kiss! I liked how Karsu told him off.

I’m wondering if part of the reason Irmak is not going home yet is her awful mother-in-law.

I’m guessing if dad ordered Atilla to kill his brother, his move if he finds out brother is living with him will be to order a hit on both his sons.

All I could think of during the soccer game was that those two are hiding in plain sight.

I’m hoping Lale is alive. But she seems to be a bit of a gossip so how would he ever keep her quiet. Maybe he invented a story similar to his own, except he would be the good guy.

Kat, here is a partial list of a few characters who we saw last night. At least my best guess.

Leonel Carranza (Colunga) is married to Julia Altamirano (Andrea Legarreta). They have two children Paulina, (Mia Fabri) who was also Sam in El amor no tiene recta) and Gustavo (Dante Aguiar). Leonel’s father is Leonardo Carranza (Eric del Castilo). Leonel’s sister is Atocha Carranza (Ana Belena) whom we can recognize by her perpetually storm cloud expression.

Leonel caught Julia with his right hand man Aldo (who I think is Ivan Arana).

Alba Palacios Salvatierra (Livia Brito) is engaged to and madly in love with Gregorio Santillana (Diego Klein). Unfortunately his present wife arrives to disrupt the wedding. Her grasping mother is Covadonga de los Reyes (Blanca Guerra). I cannot identify the man who wears the cross, actor or character. Her brother?

Kat, juegos was a good show, wasn't it? It was running behind the U.S schedule by a couple of weeks, but since you had some interruptions to your schedule I believe, it nearly managed to catch up! I always wanted to see a similar show or one with mystery elements. Finally I haveproof that they can produce something that keeps you on the edge of your seat and doesn't go off the rails.

Juegos really was good. If it weren't on at 10 p.m. I may have been able to convince my husband to watch it with me. Since I was recapping it, it took me 2 hours per night and that is way past his bedtime. The actors and writing were excellent.

Thanks Diana. I am back to my babysitting duties after a week off for travel, visiting my son and 3 of my siblings and their families in Ohio (and what seemed non stop yard work in 90 degree weather at our old house that our middle son is buying from us), so I will finish this later today. I was pretty sure that was Sam. A lot of familiar faces in this. As I watched it I went to Wikipedia to get the cast list so I could recall where I had seen the actors before.

Liz I agree with the points you made about Irmak and Reha. Like Maggie, my first thought is where is Lale. Atilla has been asking to be discovered ever since he discovered Lale was Karsu's sister in-law.

Reha may have an office but no discernable job. I do not see Hande tolerating him for much longer. He is such a misogynist. I did like how she told him off about her futbol spectator attire. She is dressing to please herself. I get the feeling Atilla threw the game after his first 2 goals. He doesn't need more noteriety.

So perhaps Lale was fed a load of bull about Atilla and that he is an undercover spy or something. Hopefully she bought it and is off on her planned trip. Would hate something bad to happen to her. I like Lale.

This one looks interesting. As popular as Colunga is I don't know if I've ever watched one of his novelas from beginning to end. I don't think I have. I've seen parts of a few, but I only started watching Univision about the time I came to Caray, before then I only watched Telemundo because they had English subtitles, and I thought I needed them. Granted I did need them in the beginning, but I understood a lot more than I realized before I realized I understood more than I realized.

Anyway, I am in for this one, but I'm probably not going to be able to keep up or check in daily - too much going on right now, but I'll try to swing by the patio at least a few times a week and discuss the happenings. I'm sure there's going to be plenty happening!

ITA, Maggie, Liz, and Kat about your comments about Reha and also WTH is going on with Lale. Turkish writers surprise me a lot, but I don't think they're going with his having killed her.

I also thought Atilla might have stopped playing hard when he realized it could be 10 goals to 0. Sigh. Reha, of course, blamed Karsu for his stepping in a pothole. I was hoping to see Atilla destroy him at the game, but it was not to be.

It looks like Atilla and Karsu have decided to say...to each other...that the kiss didn't mean anything and they were just playing a game to put Reha in his place.

Yes, Lale is up for sainthood for putting up with her brother. But nothing she said could get him off the "she's still my wife" narrative.
 

A.MAR #32 Parte 1 Notes from the Couch

Sergio's Diabolical Plan
Sergio has a meeting with Porfirio and shows him his plan for his company Alfa Sur to establish a commercial fishery in the town. Porfirio acknowledges that it will put the locals out of business and also hurt the environment but is willing to do it for a price. Juanjo shows him how much his FIRST payment would be and Porfirio readily agrees to facilitate the matter for Sergio. Unfortunately, that is not all that Sergio wants. He wants Porfirio to call Estrella's debt to be paid immediately not in two months as agreed upon. He wants Porfirio to take her business, her boats and her house. He wants her desperate on the street with her family and with nobody to turn to except for him. He will call his lawyer to draw up the necessary documents and the eviction order. Porfirio assures him he will be ready to sign what he needs to.

Yazmín Makes a Big Decision
Back at the restaurant, Javier is still pleading his case with Yazmín who cannot believe he cheated on her. He then starts making veiled threats that she will be back when she "needs" him. Erika hears that and gives Yazmín a "don't worry about the pills, I got you covered " look. Yazmín tells him to leave. She is done with him. Yazmín thanks Oliver for telling her and asks him out to eat to show her appreciation. Fabián brings her some of her favorite sweets when they get home. She remembers when she was a kid and skinned her knee at the beach, her mother brought her some sweets to make things better. He reminds her that by the next day her knee was no longer bleeding and a scab was already forming. She happily remembers the story and its underlying meaning and is appreciative for the sweets. When he leaves her room, she looks at one of her pills but decides not to take it. Later, Gonzalo comforts her and tells her that Javier is the real loser not being able to be with her. She doesn't care about that because she is still alone. Gonzalo tells her that she is never ever alone. He and her father are always there for her. Fabián overhears the conversations and smiles. Yazmín tells Oliver that she wants a job so she can earn money for university to become a doctor. She wants to do it on her own. He suggests she ask Erika for a job. She answers that she doesn't really care for Erika and would rather that he teach her how to fish. He likes that idea. Erika reminds Yazmín of her job trying to break up Estrella and Fabián. Yazmín is no longer interested because she doesn't want the pills anymore. She is going to try to get off of them so Erika's threat will no longer work. If Erika tells Fabián she is on drugs, Yazmín will tell her that Erika was her supplier. That quickly shuts Erika up and removes the smirk from her face.

Guilt Gets to Valentín
Valentín can't take it anymore. He tells Oliver about his situation and Oliver says he should call Pascual and if he doesn't answer, to just leave him a message. After visiting the doctor and getting a good report and thinking about how Perla was there for him, he calls Pascual and leaves him a message. He tells him that he is the one who has fallen in love with Perla. He apologizes but Perla is the love of his life and he cannot lose her. Little does he know but after Pascual receives the message, he must have jumped on the earliest leaving bus and appears at Perla's door. They look happy to see each other.
 

A.MAR Parte 2

BRISA REFUSES TO GIVE UP
Gabriel tells Brisa that he is still short on the money that he owes. He was going to sell his truck but it would take a week for the deal to work its way through and give him his money. He decides he will have to give Víctor what he has and ask for an extension. Víctor arrives for his money and Gabriel throws a brown paper bag full of money at him. Brisa is at home watching her mother put her money she earned from that day in her money box. Her eyes do not leave the cash.

Estrella is "all-in" When it Come to Fabián
Estrella tells Fabián all about how Azul wants her to get back together with her father. Fabián admits that her situation worries him a bit with Sergio reappearing on the scene and Azul wanting a family with him. Estrella assures him that she loves HIM and that she is sure that he will win Azul's heart eventually just like he did hers.

IKER AND AZUL
hope that their school project on the lack of water will end up with the schol providing them with water to drink at their school.

MECHE is not happy to see Brisa at Gabriel's house when she drops off Iker. She thought that she and Gabriel had an agreement . . .
 

Karsu

Irmak really had fun at the dinner party insulting Hande. Feliz almost managed to give her a hug before she went out. She had to hold herself back.

It takes 2 to tango....Karsu even got to wear a flattering dress and heels in Deniz's imagination as he watched his mom and Atila dance. Atila loses his sweater, ties his hair back and voila, he is the dark knight.

Merk has a pretty nice apartment for him and his cat. I feel bad for him. I'd say his only hope if regaining his life is when his father dies. I imagine both he and Atila will have a chance to get out of the Mafia life.

Atila sort of explained away having a phone to pretend to be Osan. Karsu wasn't understanding about it, which I can't blame her.

Jarifa, another sublime and wonderfully written episode.

When Meche was counting and smiling happily as she counted the money, you could almost see the wheels turning in Brisa's head. Transparent as cellophane, isn't she?? I'm unsure of the timing here but both scenes where Brisa was coveting her mother's cash aired prior to Gabriel meeting with Victor. As Gabriel didn't say anything to Victor to the effect he didn't have the entire amount when he threw the sack of cash on the table, could Brisa already have stolen it and given it to him? If not, I've no doubt she will be snaking over to do just that at any moment.

"Fabián overhears the conversations and smiles". His look was almost beatific; he and Gonzalo have such a special relationship. I am glad Yaz will be drawn back into this circle of love and devotion. I see Estrella (and Meche) fitting in perfectly!

Sergio's "diabolical plan" is just that and I've no doubt we will see Estrella and family out on the street quite quickly. I can't see Estrella capitulating one bit but Sergio will have her over a barrel (so to speak) and it will be interesting to see what happens.

Oliver's bad advice for Valentin to leave a message on Pascual's phone is going to backfire spectacularly. Well, at least the secret is finally going to come out or already has. May the best man win.

"If Erika tells Fabián she is on drugs, Yazmín will tell her that Erika was her supplier". I also loved the look on Erika's face; she wasn't expecting that was she??

I so agree Kat – the tango scene was great. I loved Deniz’s expression as he watched them. I liked the scene on the couch, too, as they were both very subtly signaling to one another that yes, this is turning into something. I loved how slow and low-key it was, and Karsu’s beginning-to-be-flirty look in her eye. I love how the writers made it so very gradual – it brings a lot more suspense and romance than if they’d just grabbed each other and started necking.

Boy, I was wondering how Attila was going to explain that cellphone. He did pretty well.

Poor Merk stuck in that luxury apartment with his cat. He’s not supposed to go out? He’ll go stir-crazy. I hope he brought some books along. I hope there’s a view out the window.

Novelera – I’m thinking too that Attila won’t off Lale. Of course, he’s had no problem offing other people, but I’m betting the writers feel she’s a main character they can’t lose. Also, from Atilla’s standpoint, Lale is part of Karsu’s family.

Jarifa, like Maggie I fell asleep during the episode and woke up for Karsu,lol. We have our favorite show prioritized. I decided your recaps are good enough fore I'm not going to try and catch up with the episodes I missed last night.

I've never understood why Javier is so set on keeping Jaz as a girlfriend. She isn't rich nor is she close by to keep the physical aspect of the relationship going strong. I guess he loves her in his flawed way. He can now just bed the willing co eds to his hearts content.

Jaz will have to catch a lot of fish to pay for med school, if she can even get in with her sketchy schooling. If it's like the US she will have 4 years of undergrad pre-med to prove herself though. Hopefully college is more affordable in Mexico.

Well I woke up way too early again. Going to try and catch a few more zzz's. Thanks for your informative recaps again.

It was a shock to realize that it is Nicola Porcella portraying Camilo, Alba's brother! He was SO handsome as Kenzo in el amor no tiene receta but his dark hair, beard and baggy clothes completely obliterate his good looks here. :)

I thought Erika was actually trying to give Yazmin good advice when she nodded her head no to Jazmin. I was actually impressed that Erika was being kind and giving good advice for a change. But I have to agree with you, Jarifa, she was saying “I’ve got it covered”. Well, I had a few minutes of thinking Erika was being kind. I did love her look when Yazmin threw her threat back at her.

Brisa is definitely going to take the money, but will Gabriel accept it? And who gives in to a blackmailer. Does she think this will make Gabriel fall in love with her?!!

The tango scene was great. I was surprised when Atilla put his hair up in a bun. Was he once serious about dance?

The dinner party was fun to watch. I think Andan was a little embarrassed as Irmak went on and on. I’m wondering if they’ll be invited back! Or have to invite them to their house!

Atilla’s story about the phone was pretty good. I felt sorry for Karsu when she learned Osan had been killed. I’m wondering if this will change how she feels about Atilla. Who does that to hide the fact that someone was killed.

I loved Feliz and her sister getting rid of the extra help Irmak’s mother-in-law sent over!

I loved the tango, especially watching Deniz. And now we know Atilla can dance and play soccer in addition to his darker arts! He is fascinating!

So, where is Lale? It looked to me like she is under the care of Dilaver. I think/hope Atilla only kills bad people. It’s also been mentioned that she is part of Karsu’s extended family, which may protect her.

Getting the unwanted staff to quit was well done! Filiz and Turkan are quite a pair!

I can’t figure out Irmak. She was downright annoying here. She always seemed very congenial.

I could veg in Mert’s house with comfy furniture and a huggable kitty for a long time! (As long as I had books and novelas/dizis)!

Hope we find out soon about Lale!

As far as Perla goes, "Well, at least the secret is finally going to come out or already has. May the best man win." I cannot wait for Valentín to find out that Pascual is a man on a mission. Yes, Erika got a BIG surprise.

Liz, thanks. Yes, Estrella could be between a rock and a hard place. "What would Estrella do to prevent her mother and sisters losing their home." That is the real question. "Brisa is definitely going to take the money . . . Does she think this will make Gabriel fall in love with her?!!" I am wondering if that even matters to her as long as he looks like he is in love with her and Marina doesn't have him.

Not speaking nor understanding Spanish (but I can follow about 10% of the closed captions) I follow some novellas as long as some brave soul posts summaries. Followed Hijas recently and enjoyed it. Easy plot. I have watched both episodes of AMANACER so far with basic understanding of what is going on. Has anyone volunteered to do a recap of this TN? Por favor...

Anonymous, when I learn the characters I will start commenting and perhaps recapping. I just came off of solo 10 p.m. recapping Juegos and I need a break. I also was hoping someone would step in and get it started. So many love Colungo I thought for sure someone would jump on it. I'd be willing to do a night or 2, I'm already committed to Velvet on Telemundo Wed nights. I'm babysitting my 2 grands full time so I don't have daytime availability like I did with just one. I am trying to keep up with 4 shows that play from 8 to 11 and harvesting the garden around 8 when it's not so hot! Fortunately I can DVR the shows.

A great second episode of quite a dark novela if you like dark novelas. Leonel's father as well as Alba's grandmother were/are both pieces of work ruled by the almighty peso. I liked that Alba refused to be treated like a piece of meat and went to go live at the convent and remains not quite ready to deal with the real world. Leonel refuses to be like his father. His sister is happy to be a chip off the old block. Then there is the 2 yr. time jump and the kids excited about the Day of the Dead and wondering if their mother is a ghost. Daniel Elbittar's character Sebastián was up to something in a hazmat suit? He says he is a doctor or is he a criminal? Granny comes asking for yet another loan from Leonel while not paying off the others. She asks if he killed his wife and his right hand man since he disappeared, too. I don't know if I am in the mood for something like this.

This dizi keeps drawing me in and surprising me. Yes, Atilla's tying back his hair and taking off his sweatshirt to reveal a toned body (we've seen him lifting weights several times) seemed to change him out of the clumsy bookworm he's pretended to be up until now. I loved the shots of Deniz's face, jaw dropped, as he watched his hero becoming something else.

I did not think Irmak's skewering of Reha and Hande was too much at all. Adnan was embarrassed by it, but he seemed to be oblivious to Reha's fake friendliness and greed until Irmak kind of rubbed his nose in it. I found it funny how Hande, who'd tried so hard to "stand by her man" kept trying to dodge and weave as the barrage of subtle insults landed. And the capper was Irmak roaring with laughter after Reha misused some financial term or organization, not sure which. She stripped off his pretenses, and it couldn't happen to a more deserving guy.

Atilla was just destroyed when his deception with the phone was discovered. He's clearly completely in love with Karsu at this point and terrified of her discovering his real identity. There's nothing worse than having the one you care about find out something you thought you'd kept secret. Some of you seem to think Atilla smoothed this over. I don't agree, and I'm not sure how their relationship will move forward.

They keep withholding Genghis's downfall from us. He's very sad to be in that comfortable apartment. We saw him as Mert, giving a terrific performance and being who he is meant to be. Staying away from performance is, as he said, worse than if Atilla had killed him.

My husband & I view this as totally mockable. The first night was like Wow. Really? Seriously?. The wife screwing over the husband, the kids.. My favorite. The wife..jeez no spring chicken. You are running off & you gotta bang your side guy before you even leave town. WTF? Then telling the kids Ma is dead? Cause no way that will ever come out.

Creepy guy with the cleaning scene?

Now if someone pulls out a cell phone..Well I call BS. Mexico had nothing like that in mountain areas.

Diana and jarifa, I am enjoying seeing Fernando back in the galan roles that made him so famous .

Looks like Daniel Elbittar is back to villain roles. I like to see him play the good guy , but he is so good at playing bad. I watched a lot of the Tele overlap that he made when he was young in Venezuela and later for Axteca. I also watched him on a dance competition . The guy can dance...and sing . Multi talented .

A.MAR #33 Parte 1 Notes from the Couch . . .

Brisa Runs to the Rescue and Gabriel Runs to Marina
Gabriel counts the money inside the paper bag and tells Gabriel that he still owes him. Gabriel hands him the title to his truck and the keys. Víctor only wants the cash. Gabriel starts to lose it when Víctor threatens to take Iker away from him. Iker comes out ready to leave and now has overheard being taken away from his father. Gabriel tells Víctor to stop scaring his son. Gabriel sends Iker to go eat at the restaurant. Víctor tells Gabriel that his time is up and family services will be the ones who will take Iker away. Suddenty, Brisa breezes in with the 100,000 pesos Gabriel still owes and hands it over to Víctor. Gabriel asks where she got so much money. Brisa isn't talking.Gabriel tells Víctor he never wants to see him again. Víctor cannot help but tease the situation saying he will be in touch. Brisa tells Gabriel that his secret is safe with her. Gabriel sits and cries saying that if he didn't pay Víctor the money, he was going to take his son. Brisa assures him that Víctor will not be bothering him again. He insists he will be paying her back.

Gabriel goes to see Marina at her place where she is drawing with Iker. He apologizes for not being considerate with her. She asks if he paid Víctor. He says that he did. He goes on saying that he had a debt with Víctor from long ago and didn't know how to manage the situation. She is upset with the way he shut her out. He explains that Víctor threatened him and he paid him. She still isn't happy with the lack of details he is giving her. He says he loves her. She loves him, too, but things between them cannot be fixed overnight. He says they can always take a break from it all and suggest they go on a camping trip with Iker this weekend. She looks interested.

Oil Can Sergio Strikes Out
Fab finds out what Porfirio is doing to Estrella and asks him why??? Porfirio lies and says that the state is pressuring him. As matter of fact, Fabián's position as head of the union is in danger since he didn't handle the Contreras situation correctly from the beginning. Fabián still cannot see what the problem is since Estrella made a large downpayment and had made other payments. Porfirio insists that the order is "coming from above" Fabián wants to go warn Estrella. It is too late for that. Porfirio says that the legal order to confiscate all of her possessions and evicting her is being carried out right now.
 

A.MAR Parte 2

Sergio's lawyer, along with the police, are at Estrella's house ready to enforce the court order. The Contreras family is informed that all of their property, including their boats, is to be taken for non-payment of the loan. Azul starts blaming Fabián and begging her mother to call her father to solve their problem. Estrella tries calling Fabián over and over again but he isn't answering. Meche goes to her cash box to see if she has enough money to make a difference and is beyond shocked to find out that there is no money where it should be. Estrella is just about to give in and call Sergio when Fabián arrives with proof showing that a bank transfer has been made to the union repaying Estrella's loan. Sergio soon gets a call from Porfirio saying that something unexpected happened. Fabián payed off Estrella's loan. It so happens that Fabián had a bank account they didn't know about. The smile is gone from Sergio's face and he is frustrated that Fabián ended up looking like a hero. Meche still doesn't know what happened to her money. It was gone before the police were in that room but nobody broke in. A police report is filed. Brisa finally turns up. Her phone was turned off. She looks guilty when the topic of the missing money comes up but she isn't talking.

Sergio touches base with Azul by calling her. She fills him in on everything and even though Fabián paid their bill, she doesn't want her mother owing him anything. She still doesn't like him. Estrella breaks down in Fabián's arms promising him that she will make sure he is paid back every single cent. Later, Fabián gets everyone he knows in town together at the restaurant to let them know that somebody stole money from inside Meche's house. Erika thinks he is insinuating it was her. Valentín reminds her that the latest theft in town was committed by her mother. Gabriel asks how much was taken. It was 100,000 pesos. Gabriel leaves and gets on his phone. Fabián asks them all to keep their eyes and ears open for any information.

Yazmín: One Foot In, One Foot Out
It looked like Yazmín wasn't going to take that pill in the last episode (maybe I am just an optimist) but she is back at the pharmacy in this one with a leftover fraudulent prescription for ten pills. She tries to get the prescription back but the pharmacist says she cannot give it to her once it is filled because it is for a controlled substance.

Oliver tells Nemesio that Yazmín wants to learn how to fish. Nemesio fills him in that a request like that is really a secret language and that she really wants to go out with him so they can get romantic.

Oliver and Yazmín have a great time fishing and then he tries to get romantic. She rejects him on the spot. He learns that she is planning to eventually go outside of Mexico for her medical training and so being novios is basically useless because there would be no future. They agree to be just friends with NO benefits.

Valentín Learns His Lesson Apparently Too Late
Pascual tells Perla that he had left town to try to get over her but when he was gone, he felt even worse. He had made a big mistake by not having fought for her but now he knows what he wants and he wants her. He wants to take a chance because they could end up very happy. They both agree to take a chance on love. She is so happy he came back.
 

A.MAR Parte 3

They kiss and Valentín sees them and watches them in desperation. Pascual sees him and greets him. Valentín asks if he got any of the messages he sent him. Pascual says no. His phone was dead. Of course, Valentín wants to charge it for him. Pascual turns him down. Pascual says he came back to pursue a relationship with Perla and she agreed. Valentín congratulates them and Pascual thinks his tears are tears of joy.

Pascual goes to get Perla a drink. She and Valentín are left alone and look uncomfortable. Perla suggests that she and Pascual and Valentín and his ex go on a double date! She talks about how Pascual really cares for her. He accepts her for who she is and puts himself out there for her. That is why she is going to try a relationship with him. Valentín says he was surprised. He is happy for both of them but he doesn't look happy. She notices calls from Estrella. Her phone was on mute. She calls Estrella and finds out about what happened.

Jarifa, your wry titles had me smiling away; I particularly enjoyed "Brisa Runs to the Rescue and Gabriel Runs to Marina" and "Yazmín: One Foot In, One Foot Out". You captured all of the (rather improbable and a bit impossible) events to perfection; another fabulous recap.

When Brisa burst in, packets o' bills in hand, Gabriel and Victor were understandably shocked and totally caught off guard. I don't (exactly) fault Gabriel for giving Victor the money only because his back was to the wall. But I am surprised alarm bells weren't screaming in his head. Where on earth would she ever have gotten the money? Rather than holding his head in his hands and sobbing, perhaps he should have asked her. We, and he, know this was strictly a down payment as this will not be Victor's last trip to the well.

Speaking of, we knew Brisa would take the money; there was never a moment's doubt. Did she give any thought as to the severe consequences of her actions and what the recpercussions might be??

Gabriel "...goes on saying that he had a debt with Víctor from long ago and didn't know how to manage the situation". At least the second part of his declaration is true although the lie to Marina was a grievous one.

Savored Sergio's failure to strip Estrella of everything so she would have to beg him for mercy. Fabian saved the day in fine form; a very deserving galan.

I believe Perla really wants to give Pascual a chance. Poor guy. Do I feel for Valentin? Nopis. He should have manned up and spoken up.

Oliver just won't give up will he? He needs to exhibit a bit of patience; Yaz's hurt is still raw. Give her time dude.

Brisa is going to have a lot of explaining to do. She better get to it.

Help me, patio peeps! I didn’t understand some pivotal bits. I was watching it live, but I have the series set to tape, so I thought I’d just replay it to figure out what was going on. But it didn’t tape! I have no idea why. I have DirectTV, which has a feature where you can find recent episodes of shows in case you missed them. There were lots of episodes there, including the one before and the one after, but not this one!

Oh no! I had loaded up Vix some time ago since it’s free, but I’ve never used it to watch anything. I just had looked to see what titles they had available. So I went on Vix and found the episode. Except it didn’t seem to be have exact beginning the broadcast one did. In fact, I found out to my horror that our show is being cut! There were all kinds of extra scenes we’re not getting. I thought I could spot a cut show because of the choppy transitions, but I hadn’t noticed with this one at all. I’ll tell you those scenes in a bit, but right now my questions.

How did Attila explain to Lale why he was living in secret? I thought he said something about a pseudonym, and I was thinking it had something to do with writing under a pseudonym. How did he impress on her that she mustn’t say anything? I liked that after he grabbed her and tied her up and then fed her dinner, she decides that he’s hot. Later when Reha was raving to Lale about how he was going to get his revenge on Attila, why did she tell him Attila’s a mafioso? How did she know that? And why did Reha say his sister had been kidnapped? How did he know that? Why did he say Attila had held her for several days? I thought just the one evening.

What was the conversation between Hande and Adnan? How did they know each other from before? What’s the deal?

I loved the way Karsu’s gaze at spiffed-up Attila morphed from surprise to oh, yum! Great acting. And I was astonished she took his hand and led him up the stairs. I was grateful they didn’t overlay all this with thundering music like the telenovelas usually do. Great scene! Great kisses, very tender.

Karsu

I forgot to put Karsu at the top of the last post. Oops.

The episode on Vix started in the gynecologist’s office. Remember how Adnan and Irmak were looking at an ultrasound in the car? Well, Filiz is making an inquiry at the desk in the doctor’s office, and the exam room is right nearby, with the door slightly ajar. We see it’s Irmak in there getting an ultrasound. The office lady has to go do something, and Filiz lingers by the door. We can’t see Adnan, but we hear here’s there and both he and Irmak are very happy and excited. She leaves before they come out. Later on we get the scene in the car, but after that there’s another cut scene. Irmak is sitting on her mother’s couch happily staring at the ultrasound image. The young kids cluster around to see. Filiz avoids looking and Irmak notices and is sad.

Remember too the scene where Attila is sitting in front of the bookstore talking to Karsu and she says she had a fight with her daughter? At the time, I wondered what fight. Well, there’s a long backstory to that. What happened is that Tilsin brought two school friends into the bookstore and indicated they could help themselves to a book because it was her mother’s store. Karsu takes her aside and says she mustn’t say that, she is an employee, not the owner. Tilsin says she doesn’t want her friends to know – it's humiliating her mother has a job like that. Karsu is firm and since Tilsin won’t tell the truth, she tells the girls herself. The girls side-eye Tilsin.

So it’s time for a huge sulking fit from Tilsin. She hates her mother, she wants to go live with her dad. Karsu says fine. The cousin brings Tilsin to Hande who is surprised that this isn’t just a visit - Tilsin will be staying the night. Tilsin flounces onto the couch and demands something to eat. She says she’d like this, no that, no something else. No please or thank you. Hande says she’ll go cook up her order. Tilsin is being a complete little snot and Hande deserves some kind of award for being polite to her.

Back to that conversation between Atilla and Karsu in front of the coffee shop. I don’t think this was in the broadcast version: Karsu says her mother was strict and had all kinds of rules and she didn’t want to be a mother like that. Attila assures her she’s doing great.

There’s also a scene before Karsu takes the manuscript back to Attila. She’s sitting on the couch, reading it and Irmak asks how it is. She says wonderful. In fact, she’s going to take it over to him now. Irmak asks if Karsu is falling in love with him. Karsu says how kind and good he is. Irmak says she’s missed talking with her sister like that. Karsu is in something like sweats with her hair in a messy bun, and Irmak tells her to fix herself up to go see him. Karsu pooh-poohs that, then thinks hmmm. We see how that turned out.

I hope I have all this right – I didn’t have captions and lip reading doesn’t help because they’re not speaking Spanish. Also- ugh – it wouldn’t let me fast forward and had to sit through tons of ads.

Oh, I forgot. Or maybe I’m getting mixed up on which scenes were broadcast and which weren’t. Anyway, there was a scene with Adnan meeting with Reha about the business deal Reha wants. I think it’s to manufacture children’s clothes. Anyway, Adnan tells Reha he doesn’t manage his own businesses, he has people to do that. Reha is crestfallen. Then Adnan says he will invest! Reha bursts to life, ecstatic. Adnan says there’s one condition, though, Reha must not do anything to aggravate Karsu – he must let her live her own life. Sure, of course, says Reha. We know he won’t bring that off.

And there was another, unimportant scene, where the office helper guy gives the finished manuscript to Attila, and then shows him the computer AI program and explains how it works. We didn’t lose anything by not getting to see that scene.
