A.MAR #41 Parte 1 Notes from the Couch . . .

Estella and Fabián
Azul is not eating so Estrella brings her supper on a tray to her bedroom. (Really?) Azul is incredibly rude to her mother after her mother explains to her ONE MORE TIMEtghat she will not be getting back with her father Sergio because she loves Fabián. Bratty Azul screams in her face that she is selfish and only wants what she wants before storming off. As usual, Estrella does nothing to correct her bad behavior.

Fabián makes a heartfelt visit to Yazmín to explain to her how witnessing Gabriel so desperately afraid of losing Iker has made him remember how he felt the same when he was losing custody of her. He never wants to lose her again and is confident they will find a solution. He tells her to take her time but not to distance herself from him. He leaves after kissing her on the forehead. She has tears in her eyes.

Fabián and Estrella meet on the beach where they share notes on their difficulties with their children. They agree they are both in the same situation and Fabián is confident it will all work out. They lpve each other and kiss.

Iker
Iker escapes the police when Matilde accepts Valentín's offer. She makes plans to reignite their romance at his place that very night.

Marina ends up hiding Iker with her. Iker is curious about what is going on. He has concluded that his father is in jail. Marina says it is not her place to tell him why but if all goes well, his father will be released the next day and he can explain everything to him.

The next morning, Marina makes Iker a nice breakfast. He shows her a drawing he has made of his father slaying a monster. He has the best father in the world. He asks Marina for some apple slices. She goes to get them and by the time she gets back, Iker has escaped. He shows up in Fabián's office to ask him to take his drawing to his father. What he doesn't know is that the police and a social worker are there. He is on the run again and ends up in front of Erika's inn. Marina cannot save him and Brisa is yelling at her for not hiding Iker well enough. Finally, Iker is taken into custody supposedly only to ask him some questions with a hazy promise of returning him home soon.

Oliver
It turns out that Nemesio was not included in the plan to hide Iker. His wife says it is because of his drinking. He drinks a lot and then he has a loose tongue. Everyone knows it. She tells him he drinks too much. He tells her he will do what he wants. He goes out to drink some more. Oliver keeps him company rather than meeting Yazmín who is all dressed up for their supper date.

Late that evening, he goes to talk to Gonzalo. He informs him that he has followed his orders and has stayed away from Yazmín. Gonzalo can see that because he used the front door and not a window this time. Oliver then informs Gonzalo that, with all do respect, he has no intention of leaving Yazmín alone. He cannot be away from her. He is in love with her. He will fight for her. Gonzalo appreciates his honesty but he is not who he was picturing for his granddaughter. She needs a man who will protect her and be a positive influence on her. Oliver insists that he is unstoppable. He will never hurt her. He will do the impossible to make her happy.

Yazmín
Yazmín tells Erika that she is grateful for her renting her a room but she doesn't want to do anything to ruin her father's relationship with Estrella. She doesn't know Estrella well but she likes her. Erika warns her that Estrella isn't necessarily what she seems. She is dating Yazmín's father and also becoming reacquainted with Azul's father. If she were in Yazmín's place, she wouldn't want to see her father being made a fool of.
 

A.MAR Parte 2

The Three Stooges Minus One
Valentín arrives at his place with Matilde for their date. He sees a romantic dinner set out by Pascual. Matilde thinks that Valentín planned it for her and sits down and they eat it. After dinner, they are making out on the couch when Pascual and Perla come in expecting a romantic dinner. When Pascual sees his dinner has been eaten, he is not pleased but Perla gets him to leave with her before he says too much. The next day, he tells Valentín that living together is not working out for them anymore. They each have invested in the place, so they agree to decide who goes and who stays to chance. Pascual wins the coin toss but baby Valentín can't accept the decision and wants to go two out of three. Foolish Pascual agrees. The coin is tossed again and luckily for Pascual, Valentín loses again and will be the one to move out.

Best Advice of the Night
After Perla admits that she was not only bothered by her supper being eaten but was also was bothered by seeing Valentín with another woman, Estrella suggests that maybe she should reconsider her relationship with Pascual since Valentín and Pascual are best friends. Perla defends her relationship with Pascual because he is the only man who has ever been kind to her. He is the kind of man her therapy has led her to. Estrella advises her sister to NEVER stop listening to her heart.
 

A.MAR

Jarifa, another fantastic recap of an episode where emotions ran high as Iker's life on the run came to a quick and inevitable conclusion.

With Gabriel languishing in jail facing serious accusations things are murky at best. If only the court would allow Iker to stay with a responsible adult (Fabian? Estrella?) However, that possibility appears remote and unlikely. Gabriel needs an excellent lawyer and an even greater defense.

Fabian continues to the epitome of a kind, patient father. I liked his heartfelt declaration to Yaz, expressing confidence they will find their way to being a family again. Even Yaz was not immune to his love and sincerity.

Azul is turning into a little brat. Estrella needs to remind her that children don't dictate to their parents and that SHE is the parent and that as the child, Azul should be seen and NOT heard :). Good luck with that - ack.

I laughed out loud at "The Three Stooges Minus One" - very clever. Love has eluded Valentin and apparantly so has luck. No woman and now, no home! Hopefully Estrella has talked some sense into Perla who needs to realize her rationale for being with Pascual isn't nearly enough.

"Oliver insists that he is unstoppable". I totally concur, truer words were never spoken! He is a man on a mission and Gonzalo is just the person to guide him down that path.

Gabriel will be beside himself that Iker was taken into protective custody. Hopefully he will not blame Marina but...

Karsu

OMG didn’t you love that last scene when the camera went around the table and caught everyone’s expressions when they stared at Karsu just slaying in her micro mini dress? Check out those gams! Her hair! Whoo hoo!

Because before that she’d had a very very bad day. You go, girl! And what about Atilla, who had slicked his hair down nicely for his wedding but for this elegant event is back to glasses and untamed hair?

Also, I loved that Filiz figured out that she had a suitor. That Hassan sure does it up in style. Who would’ve guessed? But then poor Filiz had to endure Adnan’s speech about Irmak, and was even stuck sitting across from him.


 

Karsu #49

I put the episode in just because as I go back in time to old shows it helps to know where in the story it falls.

Poor Karsu. Goes to the Dr. Sounds like it is a fibromyalgia flareup and the solution is to minimize her stress. Her hilarity as she tells the doctor everything that has been going on in the soap opera of her life was priceless. And that poor Dr. The look on his face! I think rather than antidepressants and relaxants being prescribed he should have suggested therapy.

Cevdet was great in his scene. I'm trying to recall everything he is an expert on. Jewelry, check. He can find the flashiest gaudy stuff ever for suegra (and Lale it appears). I forget what else. He told Atilla that a nicely dressed customer bought a book, but that he was coming back later to pay for it. Of course Karsu believes the guy. But he didn't come back and now Karsu feels she needs her pay docked as a result. We see the same mindset when she takes the kids to the clothes store where Tilsim wants a certain overpriced skirt that Karsu can't afford, meanwhile the little ones are wandering unchecked throughout the store while eating chocolate. The inevitable happens and Selim gets chocolate on a dress. The shopkeeper says the management will dock her pay, so now Karsu has to buy the outfit. Good news, it's likely Selim's size. And right on cue Tilsim throws a jealous fit because Selim gets something and she doesn't. This girl is so annoying.

So who is watching the kids at the fancy dinner party? I thought when Adnan invited Reha he said the kids would be there. When Karsu didn't make an appearance I worried that maybe the guy that helped her on the street outside that store (was it a fashion store and that's where she got her makeover) wasn't really the store owner and she was kidnapped.

And Emir, Ipek's boyfriend. What a jerk. He prefers older woman and hits on Karsu as he drives her someplace that she needs to go. So Omer may have some luck after all if Karsu warns her cousin

Loved the scene when Filiz and Türkan brought a cake to Atilla's house and they chatted with Reha's mom. So funny.

The Fatmagul recommendation is scrambling my brain on character names as I am now watching 3 Dizis at the same time. Wow, it is an excellent show. Thanks again. Dondi, your past recaps are helping immensely.

Karsu

Oh wow, Kat! It didn’t occur to me to wonder who was minding the kids. Speaking of the kids, I’ve admired Karsu’s parenting, but letting her kids bring food into a shop? And they had their hands all over everything! They should know not to touch.

That tea shop guy – I had the feeling that was a cut scene. It felt like it was leading up to something, and then we had no further developments there. I hadn’t thought about him doing a makeover for her – good thinking!
