CON ESA MISMA MIRADA

The drama "Con esa misma mirada" starts on Monday at 8:00 EST replacing A.Mar. It is a series that has only been shown on VIX (the Univision/Televisa streaming service) until now. It has two seasons for a total of 16 episodes. I have seen a few episodes and have enjoyed it.

To paraphrase the VIX blurb: After 25 years of marriage, Eloísa discovers that her husband has been unfaithful to her and decides that they need to separate. Her unexpected solitude forces her to look within and find some value in herself in order to find love again.

The main cast: Angélica Rivera-Eloísa Obregón de Hidalgo
Diego Klein-Pablo Casas
Iván Sánchez-Octavio Hidalgo
Ximena Herrera-Renata
Iliana Foz-Leticia
Blanca Guerra

I will not be recapping this one but will be watching and hopefully commenting.

This is the 3rd remake, I think, of the wonderful Televisa novela Mirada de Mujer.

I am surprised it is being done as a very limited series.

CON ESA MISMA MIRADA

Thank you for the cast listing and description Jarifa!

Angelica has been away for quite a few years now...The plot seems interesting; I like Diego Klein and Blanca Guerra is always excellent.

Diana

CON ESA MISMA MIRADA

Diana, I thought I had never seen Angélica Rivera in a novela and then found out she was the evil sister in Mariana de la noche so, indeed I had.

MIRADA

Wasn’t she Gaviota in Destilando Amor? If so, I think she was also First Lady of Mexico not too long ago.

Babachita

MIRADA

Yes Babachita, you ae exactly right! Yes, she was Gaviota in Destilando Amor, the only thing I'd seen her in.

She was First Lady of Mexico but now divorced which is perhaps why she was seeking to return to telenovelas.

Diana

Hi. I hope that I can watch a new show with you guys. It's been a hectic , stressful spring and summer . I need to fall back to the patio of caraycaray now that fall has arrived and maybe thing will calm down . Susan , hopeful

A.Mar

I just finished watching and reading your recap. What a great ending. I can’t remember one I liked more. I’m going to miss this show! Jarifa, great job recapping this whole telenovela. I wish I could write as well as Diana to truly express my appreciation for all the wonderful recaps you turned out. Just know I enjoyed them as much as I enjoyed the show.

Our unlikely, reluctant hero was such a surprise. But I’m glad he turned into a nice guy. And it was nice to see him punch Sergio. I feel like Adriana probably worked very hard at seducing him and he probably was a nice guy at the beginning of their marriage. I’m glad he’ll be able to see his Iker, and be a part of the extended family. And I was so pleased when he actually called him by his correct name!

The stand the townspeople took was great. They all worked together to stop Sergio’s plans. I felt sorry for Nemesio. I guess he finally figured out he was on the wrong side! Loved how his wife was blocking the street with the other woman. We know the town will forgive him. Brisa apparently switched sides! I guess if you love a fisherman you have to be on his side.

The wedding was beautiful but I’m with Maggie. It’s the bride’s day and an engagement can wait a day. Estrella also had the baby announcement. But they’re her sisters so I’m sure she was thrilled. And Brisa trying to talk Azul into giving her the bouquet was typical of Brisa! I guess she didn’t realize it’s the one who catches it who’s the next bride!

Thanks for the name translations. I only knew Estrella meant star. The other names are fitting. Although Meche is a force to be reckoned with. Not sure what word would fit that. Through this whole series I wondered why you’d name a baby blue. But I felt sorry for Azul when Sergio was so mean to her.

The jail scene was great. I’m not sure how Juanjo got to be the top prisoner. He probably was locked up minutes before Sergio. But he had all the prisoners on his side. I guess he always hated Sergio but probably liked the money he made.

Count me as one that loved the houses and the colorful town. And I also wondered how they’d spend the day fishing in skimpy tops and not get sunburned. Estrella was the only female that looked tan. I loved the starfish hairclips too. This was just a fun “summer” telenovela. I really enjoyed it.
Thanks for all the recaps Jarifa. And I enjoyed all your comments, Diana.
