Replay of the conversation of the two worst people on this show- Carlos and Gloria. Vals 1 and 2 enter the store and she looks shell-shocked. She approaches Emilio to ask about Alberto and he breaks the news to her that he didn’t survive according to Carlos’s people in Turkey. She is devastated. She cries as she walks away, and remembers her last words to him- to go to hell. She’ll never forgive herself. She’s lost her father and now her brother. Val 2 doesn’t seem to be very good at the whole comforting thing.

Gloria and Carlos. She still wants Alberto out of the way but needs her “prodigy” (Cris) (also, prodigy? That’s what the English captions say but it’s a weird way to translate “victim”) safe for a little while longer, and knowing that Al is dead would kill her. She talks to Carlos about making this happen, but Carlos is clear that Al can’t survive. I don’t know if he thinks Al for reals won’t survive, or if he means he might but will definitely be killed.

Cris goes to the store and everyone is sad, which she asks about in the least sensitive way possible. Gloria’s plan to hide his death didn’t work because the sad employee spills that Al is dead. Cris breaks down, as expected, but only after accusing Barbie of knowing that he was dead. Gloria comforts her and tells her that the “dead Al” thing was the lie but she can’t tell anyone that he is really alive. Cris seems to trust her.

Alessandro and the other bad guy are in Turkey with Al-in-a-Coma.

Cris wants to go see Al in Turkey but Gloria convinces her she needs to stay and be healthy for the baby. Gloria tells her that if everyone else knew he was alive, Ana would go to take him from her. Enrique comes into the office to give Cris his condolences. She “pulls herself together” and says she needs to be calm for the baby, and almost says something about Al but Gloria interrupts, just in case she was going to accidently spill the truth. Barbie and Enrique are confused given her previously delicate emotional state, but Gloria is like, “See? She’s in full control of herself”.

Marga has come to see Pedro and they get interrupted by Pepita, who is back on the sucks side of the scale. Pepita accuses Marga of being a spy. There is some back and forth about Marga and Pepita fighting, but in the end, Pepita orders Marga out of Velvet. Did she get a promotion when we weren’t looking?

Tia Pilar has come to Valeria and Sofia to offer her condolences. Sofia gives her a big hug and Pilar looks quite uncomfortable with this show of emotion. But Valeria talks to her about the problems with the store that she caused. Val 1 points out that with the shares sold, the Ortegui’s and that other family whose name begins with C now control Velvet and she blames Pilar. Sofia tries to defend Tia Pilar but Pilar actually looks guilty. Or maybe she’s just uncomfortable around all the sad people.

Carlos and Marco (?) talk about the secret agreement between Marco’s (it’s Marco, right?) father and Carlos. Marco is clearly a bad guy because he says he likes Carlos’s way of doing things, as a puppeteer pulling the strings.
.
Alessandro in Turkey offers a nurse some paper to show he knows Al. The nurse finally gives in, she probably has lots going on what with the earthquake and all, and lets Bad Al go to Good Al, and what? We don’t know yet because commercial.

Turkey. Bad Al notes that the nurse bought whatever he told her because they don’t have time to confirm anything now. Other Bad Guy is pleased.

Mateo cries and comforts Clara. (See this, Val 2? this is how you do it). Mateo is sad that he couldn’t do anything to help Al.
.
Barbie comes to office to see Gloria and demands to know where Cris is. She has left the apartment. Barbie worries that she wouldn’t leave on her own while they are waiting for Al’s body to be returned and obviously doesn’t like or trust Gloria. Gloria finally tells Barbie that Cris wanted to leave and made her promise not to tell anyone where, so if Barbie wants to talk to Cris, she can call or text. Gloria is smug about this. Barbie is actually being a good friend here, but it doesn’t work up against Gloria.

Funeral. Ana puts a little origami bird on the altar (I think it was an altar, or maybe the coffin) and remembers loving things Al told her. She talks to the coffin about their last moments together, while everyone else watches her. Then Ana imagines Al entering the room and slowing coming into focus, and then she passes out. So, pregnant? Emilio catches her. (Cris doesn’t seem to be here).

Al, in the meantime, has been swiftly transported to Miami, which is where Cris has come to see him instead of going to his funeral. Or “funeral”. Carlos is there too and tells Cris that they have to go. She refuses to leave his side until he wakes up. He tells her he has to go into surgery and tries again to make her leave. Cris wants to comfort Alberto but Carlos tells her not to call him that. In this hospital, his name is Gabriel Jones (or something). He finally gets her out.

Marina gets to the Keys house and is a snot to the woman who already works there when she comes to introduce herself to Marina.

Mateo is trying to work but can’t. Clara comes to see him because she’s worried, and he starts crying again. He’s been thinking about how short life is, that you always think bad things will happen to other people. She’s shocked by the images coming from Turkey. Mateo wasn’t’ in that region of Turkey when the earthquake hit. But this has made him reevaluate his life. He wants to leave with Clara. Hey could go to Europe and travel, he could show her all the beauty. She says she has to work but he offers to pay for everything. She doesn’t know what to say, but he tells her to say yes.

Raul. Yay! Raul tells Ric and Pedro that he’s going to start a men’s line and wants Ric to work for him! Pedro is like, as a costurera? Raul says as a tailor! Un sastre. Ric is happy and agrees. Also, Pepita is apparently going to be going to school so won’t be around much. Good.
.
Ana and Emilio talk about Al. She shays she hears him and feels him when she closes her eyes. Then the doctor comes to talk to Ana. They found something in her blood work and that something is a fetus. She is three weeks pregnant. She and Emilio hug and are happy about this. The doctor is glad this is good news for them, and then she leaves. Emilio is going to be a grandpa! And Ana is going to have Al’s baby! Then Ana thinks about how happy Al wouldn’t have been to hear this news. Emilio tells her when she got to NY, she filled his home with light and love, and now that baby will do the same for her.

Val thanks Sofia for her help with Pilar and points out that Sofia is the only one who brings out her human side. Sofia is impressed by her and says she’s worked hard and mentions the success of her business, despite the negatives. And Sofia is going to school and wants to study fashion and join the business. Val is pleased by this and says the business needs her.

Marga is at work and asks Pilar about time for the wake (I think). Pilar, done being humane for the day, says fine but it’s on her time and getting on with her work won’t wait. The earthquake ruined their factories and Marga needs to get to Vietnam. Then Pilar introduces her to her new assistant, Some Guy. Pilar says he speaks Spanish, English, and French. Marga says, all those, and Pilar calls him the Rosetta Stone. (Ha!). Also he was an underwear model when she found him. Marga might be trying not to drool.

Clara enters Marco’s office to bring him a package and he asks her to sit down. He’s been going over everyone’s resume and notes that she studied finance, yet is answering phones, etc. She says she was getting experience, blah blah blah. He wants to give her a promotion, which makes her happy. (But happier than touring Europe with Mateo?)
.
Gloria and Bad Al talk and she hands him a satchel of cash and welcomes him to his new life. He’s happy.
.
Marco and Mateo talk and Marco is a turd. He asks, “is that any way to talk to your boss?” Mateo is like, no, de ninguna manera, and hands over his resignation. Marco says he’s leaving at a delicate time but Mateo thinks it’s pointless to be there now. Any problem? Marco says no. Mateo says he and Clara will start packing now. He says, Clara? If she’s going to quit, he needs to hear it directly from her. He is being smug too.
.
Ana has announced the three week pregnancy to the whole atelier, including Marga. Clara, Marga, and Blanca all want to be madrinas. Maybe Raul too? They are all happy for her and give her a big hug.
.
Enrique and Barbie still want to know where Cris is, although I think they have heard from her. Gloria still refuses to tell. She says they aren’t a bad brother or bad friend, but she, Gloria, understands Cris better than them.
.
Val has heard the baby news and is happy for Ana. She’s glad she’ll be a tia and asks is she can hug Ana. Ana happily agrees so they do. And just then, Gloria and Enrique walk in and she wants to know about what is there to be so happy about. Val is emotional and Enrique wants to know why, so she tells. So now Enrique and Glroia know the news.

And now more sadness because we’re suddenly at the wake held in the store. Valeria gives a eulogy about what she learned from her brother, how he believed in her. She says he was most happy with Ana and Val invites her up to speak. She does, and Gloria, standing in the back, tells Carlos that despite being dead, Al keeps leaving “bundles of joy”. And she says, oh, what? You didn’t hear? Ana is preggers with Al’s baby! And with that, Carlos knows too. I think that’s everyone. Maybe Pilar still hasn’t heard but she will soon. Carlos is not nearly as happy about this as everyone else.

Welcome back, K. You've lost none of your terrific recap skills. You've
captured everything important and have done so with delightful humor.

I hadn't thought of Alessandro as Al until I saw you refer to Bad Al and
Good Al.

Thanks for reminding us that Pepita is leaving to go to school. Now
that she's back on the sucks side (as you rightly note), her leaving to go
to school is reason for us to celebrate.

So it looks as if Sofia will be leaving Velvet, since I think she has
decided to go to college in England and has agreed to accept Val's offer to
pay for both tuition and rent. If the school is in London, rent won't be
cheap.

I didn't catch the name of the young man Pilar has hired to be Marga's
assistant, nor the impressive array of languages he speaks. In addition to
Spanish, English, and French, he apparently knows several Asian languages,
including one I'd never heard of. Actually, I'm not sure how happy Marga is
with this arrangement. Certainly she'll need someone with laguages skills
especially while she's in Asia, but this guy gives me the impression he'll be more of a hindrance than a help.

Yes, just about all the women in Velvet want to be madrinas for Ana's baby.
I loved your "Maybe Raúl too?"

There's one thing that I'm still confused about. When Bad Al and the bald
guy with pointy ears were in Turkey, standing next to the bed where Alberto
(aka Gabriel Jones) lay in critical condition, I assumed that they were
planning to make sure that Alberto was dead. But then we see Cris standing
by the still unconscious but alive Alberto's bed in Florida. Why didn't one
or both of the baddies kill him in Turkey? And was the casket at the funeral
at Velvet empty or did it contain some totally unidentifiable corpse (in case
someone looked at it)?

The Murder Al plan was called off because Gloria needed him alive to better control Cris. I guess she thinks Cris would lose it completely if Al were dead? But Gloria also needs everyone else to think he’s dead so he isn’t brought back to the store to mess up her takeover plan. Which I also dont understand because she should be retiring with all the money she took back from Valeria. Thats what I’d do but im not nearly as evil. Anyway, not sure about the coffin but maybe they used a body that was unrecognizable? Bad Al and Other Bad Guy (who might work for Carlos?) could have arranged something. The money looked pretty good based on that suitcase of cash. (Also, why cash? Wouldn’t crypto currency be lighter and less traceable?)

Welcome back, K. Loved the recap.

Wow, the Telenovela Teleport was in constant use. Mateo returned from Turkey in a flash. So did “Bad Al” who then teleported Albert, aka, Gabriel Jones, to Miami, where Cris and Carlos suddenly appeared by Albert’s bedside. And Marina appeared in the Keys.

Who needs a church when you can have your weddings and funerals at Velvet?

That guy Pilar is sending with Marga is Chiquetete Martinez. But you can call him “Chi”. I had to look up Kuay—it’s a language spoken in Thailand, Laos and Cambodia.

I’m worried about how Carlos will react to Ana’s pregnancy.

Maybe they will hop into the Telenovela Time Machine, fast forward a few months, and tie this up with a big red ribbon.

Maggie I watched it all. I'm sleepy now though as I just watched Velvet. Let's see what I recall

Seren has 2 buns in the oven. Everyone goes over to Bahar's place to celebrate. Rengin is not invited. She tells Nevra about it, you're about to become a great grandma she delights in informing her. Nevra rushes over to celebrate too. Blondie is putting pressure on Asiz Uras to go to London. Seren (and Bahar of course) can handle 2 babies. He's thinking about it.

Timur is not ready to be a grandpa. Rengin kind of rags him on it. He tries to get a loan to cover the mortgage but is turned down.

I thought Rengin bought up the mortgage, but I guess she just made a payment on it. She's not making anymore. She hopes the bank repos the house. Parla thinks it would be fitting if she buys the house out from under them.

Bahar and Evren are proceeding slowly with their relationships.

Those were the things I remember. I should have taken notes again.

Thanks K. I watched this a little bit ago. I have a beanie question. The burned body brought back as Al was so badly burned DNA was out of the question. I would think this is unacceptable. Bones, teeth, something should have remained unless the fire was so bad the body was cremated.

Another question, the earthquake happened in Turkey but managed to damage Pilar's factories in Indonesia! That really seems far fetched. I wish the writers made things more believable.

I am SO tired of Gloria's manipulating of Cris. I agree with others here that the actor portraying Cris is doing a bang-up job. I guess Aylin Mujica is doing the same, but I think I've seen her in too many villain roles. Not to mention that she looks like she'd had a lot of work done on her face.

I STILL think it's absurd that Gloria has access to Cris's money. I know, I know. I need to tighten up my beanie. I've been on this site so long (since the early 90's) that the elastic is probably shot.

I missed that we were going to lose Pepita from the cast. Can't wait!

Yep, Barbie was nice for once. We got to see the frozen mask crack a little.

Sigh. These writers STILL believe that pregnant women faint, and before the fetus is more than an inch long.

Loved "Pilar is done being humane".

I believe I heard that the guy who's assisting Marga speaks Vietnamese.

Raúl called himself a madrino, instead of padrino, making me laugh.
 

Bahar episode # 41

Timur gives Uras so e good relationship advice. We learn he went off to the US to study when Bahar was expecting Umay. He rekindled his relationship with Rengin then and as a result he never reconnected with Bahar emotionally. Uras decides going to London would be wrong. Blondie had a letter for him to sign, which he did without reading it. He thinks he is relinquishing his spot. I wonder if the letter is actually an acceptance.

Blondie learns Bahar has a date at 8 with Evren. Timur shows up on a motorcycle and helmet pretending to be him as she hops on board. She learns it's Timur and he's kidnapped her to be at the engagement proposal. Evren shows up to no Bahar, calls her , no answer, goes to the restaurant thinking she went straight there. He sends Bahar a text.

And the gangs all there! So much for a one on one proposal. All the interns are there. She accepts, of course. Timur and Bahar dance because she is civilized. Blondie assistant and Timur's assistant bothe record them, guy intern posts his on girls advice...Rengin of course sees it. And Evren.

Rengin calls the bank about the money she plans to withdraw. Timur returns. He tells her he's pretty much with her out of obligation. Well at least he's honest with her.

Bahar is searching for Evren who is ignoring her.

Next day Blondie is kinda taunting Evren who shuts her down.

Seren visits her mom at her store. We can't get away from designers this summer! Will she get through to her that she needs her mom? Mom wants to meet for dinner with Bahar et al that night...Bahar calls Timur to tell him, he's at lunch with Nevra. For some reason he opens her purse that is full of money. She tells him it's 350,000 liras. She sold her diamonds. It's not enough he says for the mortgage. I guess it must be a balloon mortgage of sorts since none of the money seems to be enough to get the bank off their backs.

Bahar us hosting the dinner at the house.

Rengin gets the money.

Ok Seren's parents I think are divorced, perhaps just separated. Mr riza is the principal at Umay and Parla's school. Earlier in the episode Nevra and Gülçiçek were asked to leave the school hallway by him because they were bickering. Then the girls fought and he expelled them. So awkward first meeting. Rengin also arrives.(Good for her). She made the mortgage payment and is the new owner of the house I really can't hate her as a character.

Kat – you recapped! Awesome!!

I had felt very sympathetic to Rengin – up until tonight. Her walking into the family meeting with the future in-laws and announcing it was her house! I bet there goes her relationship with Timur, which will then leave him with no relationship at all.

(Why are there suitcases full of cash in TNs?)

And there he was again not taking any responsibility. He was talking to Uras and telling him that if he hadn’t gone to the U.S. when Bahar was pregnant, he wouldn’t have messed with Rengin and all these problems would never have happened. Apparently fidelity is a matter of circumstance, not of character. When I’m not with the girl I love I love the girl I’m with seems to be his M.O.

Seren’s mother is a horror. And if she’s so snobby, why did she marry Seren’s father who is just a school principal? Wouldn’t that be beneath her? Apparently they’re divorced, but still, that’s the guy she once selected.


 

Velvet ep #80 p. 1 of 2

Well, I'm afraid this will have to be a quickie. It turns out I have to be
up early tomorrow, so I can't spend as much time on this as I'd like. But
I'll do what I can.

I think the episode begins with Gloria mentioning Ana's pregnancy to Carlos.
She claims she assumed Ana had already told him about it.

Mateo says to Clara that they're saying goodbye both to Alberto (who they
believe is dead) and to Velvet. Clara tells Mateo she's not going with him.
Marco has offered her a position. She says that work isn't necessary for
Mateo, but it is for her. Mateo tells her he can offer her as much as Marco
has offered. Clara tells him not to offend her. She points out that she and
Mateo are from two different worlds. Mateo still tries to convince her to
be with him. "Let's go on a year-long sabbatical, you and me." She replies,
"I'm sorry, I can't." He tells her he can't stay here (at Velvet). He
wishes her all the best and hopes she'll go far. He leaves and she cries.

Pedro gives Marga a cloth monkey to take with her on her travels for Pima
Fashion. I think he says she can talk to the monkey when she's lonely.
Suddenly Chi, her assistant, appears and tells her it's time to go, the car
is waiting. Pedro tells Marga he loves her. Pepita has been watching. She
finds Chi very hot, and she's especially excited when she finds out that he
was an underwear model.

Ana and Carlos talk. Ana says that she hadn't suspected she was pregnant
until the doctor told her. Carlos says he thought she and Alberto had
broken up. She says they had a brief reconciliation. She tells Carlos that
Cris was determined to separate Alberto and her. Carlos says something about
Cris having a hard time right now. Ana replies, "I won't feel sorry for her
any more." Carlos tells Ana, "You'll get over it." She replies, "I'll have
to, for my baby." Carlos says he has to leave, he has business to deal with
in Central America. He's clearly bothered by Ana's focus on the baby.

Instead of going to Central America, Carlos apparently makes a stop in
Florida to see Cris. She is very worried about Alberto. The doctors have
told her that he suffered a blow to his head, that he'll need surgery, and
that he could die during the surgery. She wonders what she will do if he
dies. Carlos insists that she has to be strong. No one can know that
Alberto is alive. We could wind up in jail. As if on cue, the doctor comes
and tells Cris that the surgery was not successful.

A sign flashes on the screen: Tres Años Después (Three Years Later)

Ana has apparently been quite successful. She has won the Latina Woman 2025
award and is being interviewed. The interviewer congratulates her on the
success of her latest collection.

Val1 and Val2 have married, but Val1 doesn't seem all that thrilled with the
marriage. No surprise there.

Cris comes to New York for a brief visit. She's at a restaurant with Barbie,
but their relationship seems to have soured. Cris tells her, "I moved on
with my life. You should, too." Barbie isn't pleased.

Ana is talking to Marga. She asks whether Marga has seen Pedro since she's
come back. Marga tells her "Not since we broke up two years ago."
Along comes Carlos holding little Alberto. It wasn't at all clear at this
point whether he and Ana are married.

Cris is back in the Florida Keys house. We get a glimpse of Alberto, whom
Cris calls Gabriel. She tells him, "I love you so much, Gabriel." Cris, too,
it turns out, has a new last name, but I don't remember what it is. It
starts with an F, I think. Anyway, "Gabriel" asks her whether she thinks
he's getting his memory back. He tells her about a dream he's had. She
replies, "Not everything you dream about really happened." He says that
Tania (who I think is the cook) suggested that he get a TV, so he could find
out what's going on in the world. And perhaps jog his memory. Cris thinks a
TV is a bad idea. All it has are catastrophes and other unpleasant matters.
He's better off without it.
 

velvet ep. 80, p. 2 of 2

Uh oh. It turns out that Pepita has been working at Velvet while she was
going to school, so we haven't gotten rid of her, alas. Indeed, Marco wants
Pepita to manage the new tech tools. Blanca says that she can do that. Marco
makes it clear that Pepita has more current information and training. Pepita
assures Blanca, "I'll teach you everything I've learned."

Cris yells at Tania's husband. "I've hired you and your wife to cook and
clean, not to advise Gabriel to get a TV." The husband (whose name I don't
know) assures Cris he'll talk to his wife as soon as she gets back from the
market.

Back at Velvet, Gloria gets unhappy at seeing Alberto Jr. by himself at
Velvet. Emilio says Alberto Jr. is with him. Gloria says he should never let
Alberto Jr. out of his sight. Something bad could happen to him if he's left
alone. After she leaves the room, Alberto Jr. says "Mean lady."

Ana is upset that Marco has decided to sell the Oaxaca factory, which will
result in many long-time workers losing their jobs. Marco says, "You haven't
been part of that world for a long time. Why do you care what happens
there?" He tells Ana that no one is indispensable. Ana replies that there
are more important things than money. He tells Ana that she will have to
adapt her designs to the new manufacturers Velvet will be using.

Marga speaks with Pedro (apparently for the first time in more than a year).
Pedro tells her she looks different. Taller. As they're talking, Chi comes
over and kisses her. Pedro asks, "You're still with Chi?" Marga keeps
moving her large-brimmed hat around to prevent Chi from further attempts to
kiss her.

Clara is angry that the decision to sell the Oaxaca factory was made without
even informing her, the financial advisor. Marco tells her "We live in a
world of hunt or be hunted." He advises/warns Clara not to turn against
him. She tells him it's too late for that advice.

Ana gives a talk at Velvet on the third anniversary of Alberto's death. She
wants him to be remembered. And also all the other victims of the
earthquake.

Someone delivers to "Gabriel" a painting of a woman with her back turned.
I'm not sure whether Alberto actually painted that, but he does talk about
painting. He stares at the painting and says, "I'm sure I know her, but I
can't recall her name."

Ana, Marga, and Clara are drinking and talking about Velvet. They don't like
what Marco is doing, with his lack of concern for workers and his overriding
interest in money. Ana says they need a business plan, and she knows a good
businessman to consult. (I assume she means Mateo.)

A woman comes to the Florida Keys house hoping to find Gabriel Jones (which
of course is how Alberto is now identified). She identifies herself as
Celeste Jones, and her research has led her to this house. She is told this
is private property and she must leave. She leaves, but as she goes out she
passes a piece of paper to Tania (I think) with her name and phone number on
it.

Mateo confronts Clara. Ana told him where to find Clara. He says "We have to
talk. You've blocked my calls and my social media messages.

I've really got to bring this recap to a close. I will say that Val and
Enrique are at it again. Also, Blanca has stomach pains and Emilio says he
will accompany her to the doctor's office tomorrow.

Carlos tells Ana that he has never stopped hoping they could have a life
together. His time with her has been the happiest of his life. He can't wait
any longer. He brings out a ring and asks Ana to marry him. And with that,
the episode ends.

Thanks Juanita. I was going to speculate that a head wound is a sure excuse for amnesia, and sure enough..Al has amnesia. Chris is really happy though. Gloria hasn't locked her up in the Keys at least. I think Al did paint the girl, obviously Ana, from the back. I'm surprised she wasn't wearing the red 'Velvet' dress. I'm sure that is in his memory bank also. I saw a name passed to the maid but not a phone number. Maybe it was an email address.

Looks like Barbie is contemplating divorce. She definitely needs to move on with her life. I still think Val2's voice sounds like Carlos. I guess mother in law is working at velvet in some capacity as Val2 is afraid she and Enrique might get caught by her as they make out.

Well jumping 3 years is a way to speed the show along. I'm surprised Carlos has stuck around with Ana. I must admit he seems to have a good relationship with little Alberto. When Gloria mentioned little Al being unsupervised, I wonder if she has plans for kidnapping him.

Ana will have no more loyalty to Velvet if Marcos sells the factory. It's no longer Als legacy anyhow. Time for her to move on, obviously with Al when he gets his memory back

Poor Mrs Jones searching everywhere for her husband. I bet he's the corpse in Al's grave. I wonder if Chris ordered him cremated, that would definitely rid anyone of the possibility of taking his DNA.

I'm really surprised Emilio and Blanca aren't a couple yet. Of course if she has some awful cancer he doesn't need to lose another wife. I hope it's just an ulcer or diverticulitis though. Those are less lethal than cancer.

Thanks so much for your recap, Juanita! It was a good one, and we DO need our rest.

This big switch actually piqued my interest. I'd been more than ready for this one to be over. Too many villains, too many bad things happening to people I've enjoyed.

Gloria is so mean she even taunts her ally, Carlos. She really enjoyed telling him about Ana's being pregnant.

Clara is an idiot. Guess these writers stay up all night working on separating people in love. Clara lost 3 years with Mateo. I guess we're supposed to admire her desire for an important career. She should have gone on the sabbatical with Mateo and then returned to find a job more aligned with her studies. And the killjoys even separated Marga and Pedro, with Pepita forcing a kiss on him to taunt Marga.

Gag me with a spoon! Couldn't help but think that very old expression when I saw Carlos holding Albertito. I suspect they're going with Ana holding Carlos at bay in a sexless relationship. Will we ever see a kidnapping?

Sicko Cris is isolating a grown man from any contact with the outside world. I was surprised Gloria didn't try drugging her. And it looks like Alberto has become the Pablo Picasso of the Florida Keys. But why was the iconic dress green and not red? I had the impression from his facial expressions that Gabriel Jones isn't in love with Cris any more than Alberto Márquez was.

Kudos to dondi, who I think predicted an amnesia plot twist.

Kat, I didn't catch more than Celeste Jones' name on the paper, but I went back and looked again. This time, I still couldn't have said exactly what the second row said, but it definitely looked like all numbers, as in a phone number. And I too got a bit nervous when Gloria talked about what might happen if Alberto Jr. was left alone. And you make a good point about Ana having no reason to remain at Velvet and it being time for her to move on (with Alberto and Jr.). I wonder how many more episodes we'll have to endure before he gets his memory back.

Novelera, I loved your saying "Gloria is so mean she even taunts her ally, Carlos." It was clear she enjoyed breaking the news to him about Ana's being pregnant. I don't agree that Clara should have gone with Mateo on a year's sabbatical. For one thing, her parents need her financial help. And I would imagine that Mateo would wind up paying for the year's sabbatical, something Clara wouldn't want. I loved your referring to Alberto as the Pablo Picasso of the Florida Keys. Perhaps his making the dress green rather than red indicates that his memory is returning, but slowly.

I agree that Clara made the right choice. If the trip was a mess, then she’s out of a job. It’s a job at Velvet, but still. It’s money. She was right to point out to Mateo that he has less to lose. Plus she’s mad about the Oaxaca place being sold so good for her.

I was more annoyed with Marga and Pedro. Three whole years later and they are right back to the immature nonsense they started with. Major eye roll. And Pepita? Really? She’s been in school this whole time and couldn’t find anyone that suits her ambitions better than Pedro? These people really need to get out more. Try the other bar in NYC.

I think we might end up liking Tania. And maybe Barbie too, if she puts the booze down and gets to bleeding Enrique dry and then dumping him. Like Gloria did but maybe she could skip the murder stuff.

Velvet #81 part 1 of 3 (or 4, time will tell)

Ok Carlos got a rather underwhelming ring for a supposed millionaire. Ana remains speechless, he closes the box and backtracks saying he chose a totally inappropriate location to propose (are they at the only bar in town? I've forgot.). Oh now he's pulling on her heartstrings. When he was at the park with Albertito earlier in the day the boy supposedly looked at another happy family with longing like that could be me. Right? Who else is gagging over this line of bull. He goes on to say I never longer for kids but now everything has changed. He loves him like his own. He wants to be part of his life. He even helped me pick out the ring. Ana tells him to ask her again. He does and she accepts.

Mateo is asking Clara how she has been. Looks like they are at the same bar. He's heard she has been named to some financial position at velvet, so her aspirations have been fulfilled. Clara says and you went on your year long sabbatical that turned into 3.. he says first he concentrated on finding himself . She says did it require being so far away to find yourself ( Italy then Dubai). He asks have you been keeping tabs on me? No, someone mentioned it at velvet.
Ana approaches them to show off her ring, Carlos in tow.

Ana is home, finally gets Al Jr to bed. She sits with Emilio. He sees the ring and realizes she's marrying Carlos. She says he caught me by surprise. I was going to say no, but I remember what you told me about life going on. Also Albertito is getting older and deserves a complete family. Emilio argues he already has a complete family. Ana says you don't like Carlos, you remember what Isa said about him. But he loves Albertito, treats him as his own, he protects us Emilio argues you don't marry someone for protection. You marry for love. She says I loved and lost. I want a tranquil and safe life now. Emilio will always support her.

And back in the keys Chris is meeting the real Mrs Jones in a cafe. She has tracked her husband down to a hospital in Miami and thus to Chris. Chris shows her a photo of her Gabriel (Alberto) and says his name is also Gabriel Jones but he was injured in a car accident, not an earthquake. She wants her to leave them alone.

Mateo is in the atetier speaking with Ana. He compliments her on her successes. She wants him to come back to work at Velvet (who gave her this authority?) and save the Mexican factory. Val is on my side but Gloria using Chris's proxy voted against us. Raul, in on the convo, says Chris never comes around and has moved to parts unknown. Ana wants Mateo to help come up with a financial plan that justifies keeping the factory. Mateo doesn't give an answer one way or another. Clara walks in and time stands still...
 

Velvet #81 2/4

Blanca gets the results of the tests. Possible malignant tumor. Emilio says then have the operation right away. She's doesn't do well with anesthesia, and wants to be an ostrich and bury her head in the sand. Jenni calls her to see how the tests went. Blanca lies and says all is fine, just hormones out of whack. Her voice is a bit broken up. Pretty sure Jennifer suspects she's lieing.

Al is searching through papers at the house. He can't find anything about his past he tells Chris when she comes in. No photos, nothing. She tries to calm him down. He says I need to see some photos of myself or my family before this happened to me.

Mateo and Ana are in Marcos office. Mateo wants to come back to work at Velvet.(If this works I will be shocked, I wouldn't rehire him!). Ana throws in her 2 cents. He has a lot of experience in the fashion industry ( that entire year he worked for Al is such a resume filler!) and has ideas for cutting costs so you don't have to close the Mexico facility. Marcos says, aha, so that's your plan to override plans the board have already approved. It's not happening.

Sparks a d insults are flying between Clara and Mateo. Mateo has not been rehired. But Ana thinks there's still a way to win.

Al is having a meltdown. He doesn't want to take the mind numbing medicine anymore. His parents names, that Chris has told him, mean nothing to him (because they aren't their names) etc.

Raul and Rick give a presentation of their male line of clothes to the board to I guess good reviews. Val and Enrique liked them. Enrique has been to Miami and spoken with Lau Pontes who they hope to collaborate with. Raul has no idea who he is (nor I is he a real or fictional famous soccer player,). Rick sets him straight. Clara brings him in (so I guess she is still performing secretarial duties, lol). The actor looks like an actor from Sed De Venganza so I'm guessing Lau is fictitious.

Rick joins Pedro in the cafeteria. Pedro is hungover from his date with Pepita. Rick imagines they had a fun time, wink. Pedro says no, he saw Margarita. Rick says it's time you are over her, it's been 2 years. Pedro calls Rick out for being hypocritical. He saw Rick stalking Sophia's social media the other day. That shuts Rick up

Chris tells Alessandro they need security cameras installed everywhere. Some lunatic broke in asking about Gabriel. Well, she is the real Gabriel's wife, but ..Al tells Chris it's not possible to set them up without internet. Al comes in and asks why isn't there Internet here? Alessandro says there aren't any lines there. They've been trying to get them for 3 years.

Ana and Mateo track down Enzo at some art show. There goal is to get him to block the factory sale. He won't undermine his son. Ana is willing to sign an 8 year contract with velvet and freeze her salary during that time. He looks interested. My son will be furious he laughs.


 

Velvet #81 part 3/4

Val and Enrique play handsy in the men's clothing. Barbie sees them.

Carlos asks to speak to Emilio. He apologizes for not asking Emilio before proposing. He says no problem. Ana makes her own decisions. Emilio says now we are about to become family, tell me about yours. Carlos says he was orphaned young and has no other family. That's maybe why he and Ana click.

Barbie follows Val into the elevator. She congratulates Val. She won, but then she points out what Enrique is doing to her, he sleeps with you whenever, you're the other woman, he doesn't present you to society. Your just his sex toy. Barbie is done with him, she deserves better, he's all Val's. You will see. He is incapable of love

Marco offers Mateo a job after all. It all hinges on the success of the new collection. Ana is in the office too. Marcos wants to speak to her alone. He yells at her for undermining his position and she can't do it again or she's out. Ana says his threats don't scare her.

Enrique barely has an accent when he speaks English! Barbie has come to see him. He's forgotten it's their anniversary (like her forgets her and their daughter's birthday). She says I'm tired and I'm leaving. Now I understand why you continue to work her rather than the shipping company. It's so you can be near Val. He hands him divorce papers and her ring. She's taking her daughter with her. Enrique says you aren't taking Lourdes. Barbie reminds him her family are all lawyers and they won't allow that. You're still Val's lover and we can build a car around that. Your infidelity, your violence, how many hr cases against you at the shipping company,? Barbie reminds him, I on the other hand am squeaky clean.

Lau wants to design his collection, lol. Raul is not amused. Rick is star struck, especially when Lau gives him a championship ring (I assume).

Mateo gets to share an office with Clara, and he is her immediate supervisor. But she doesn't have to fetch the coffee anymore.

Alessandro gives Tania an expensive smartphone so she can video call her kids (Grandkids? I've forgotten what he said, neither she nor her husband look old enough for grands, nor for grown children)in Mexico Of course it only works if she drives 15 minutes away. She refuses the gift. He flatters her. She says I'm married. If you want to give it to my husband, fine. Jacinto, said husband, yells for Alessandro. The car is ready. Jacinto leaves. Alessandro leaves the phone on the counter and advises Tania to not tell her macho man about it or he might forbid her using it.

Ana tells Val about her engagement. The two have a nice friendly talk together. I guess the past 3 years and Albertito has brought them together. She asks Ana not to invite her to the wedding though. She can't bear that because of the memory of her brother. But she'll watch Albertito while they are on their honeymoon.

Marco, Gloria and Pilar are in cahoots ...

Margarita and chi share a kiss at work. He asks about them living together. She spies Gloria and Marco and wonders what they are doing there. Chi says they were meeting with Pilar. Rita (the bumbling) spy is born ..

Val2 gives Val1 a really nice diamond necklace. She is underwhelmed and asks what do you want? A child he tells her. She's not ready. Wow, she is a total bi$ch to him. His mom didn't talk to him for a year because she didn't sign the prenup. If we have a baby that will smooth things over. Val sneers, ah you just want to please mommy. She starts choking up I want us to have a child but it's not happening. I'm afraid I can't get pregnant she says all choked up. If course Val2 is apologetic.

Ana and Marco argue about who is creative director and why is Lau making design decisions. Raul and Lao hate each other. Marco says he's in charge because he signed a multimillion dollar contract.

Raul and Ana talk. Ana will deal with Lau.

Raul spies her ring and congratulations are given.

Marco is flirting with Clara. I guess they have become a couple. Mateo walks in and sees them.

Al is painting furiously, it's the only thing that calms him. Chris has spoken to his psychiatrist and he has agreed that Al can take the next step in his recovery, meeting his best friend. Al is excited.

Boy, this show is never dull!

I can’t figure out why Seren wants anything to do with her mother. What a horrible woman! Seren should go no contact. Of course, the in-law visit went comically bad. Seren’s mother had already thought the family was white trash (with MDs!) and then all this wild drama came to a head for her to witness. Then Seren’s dad keels over.

Now Bahar is in jail. It seems to me that her defense would be that she thought she was living in her own home.

It was touching when Parla told her mother to just leave Timur and Rengin says I just can’t. She obviously should have given up years ago but… she just can’t.
