Bahar #50

Efsun is alive. A comedy of sorts as all the family converge on her home. Bahar and Evrin go out the door they came in, and after the gang shows up they come in also. Bahar would never win at poker! In the hospital Efsun raves about things. She is out of it because of the knock to her head. Leg is broken. In recovery she is more lucid. Once again all converge on he in the hospital room. After they leave she does recall that someone was in the house, after the maid, Zeynep,said it looked like things were searched through. Her ex, Risa, is in the room. He has a retired cousin, Edip, from the police force that they want to look into it. He concludes they all have a motive.

Rengin gets her job back after Bahar tells her to talk to the foundation head. Don't let selfish Timur keep you from what you love.

One of the cellmates has been beat up. They go to Bahar's hospital. The lady of the night was punched in the stomach and she is in a lot of pain. Rengin is paged. It's ovarian cancer, advanced. There is no insurance course but Bahar offers to take care of it. Rengin asks how, then offers to take care of it. Will these two become friends in the end? That would make good TV.

The two decide they should start a foundation to pay for the uninsured and use SM to raise money.

Efsun tells Seren, Aziz Uras and Bahar about someone being in the house. Bahar leaves and tells Evren they celebrated there not being found out to soon.

Bahar is back in the big house. She calls Umay to show her she's back and misses her. ( Timur and Bahar need to just have joint custody. He has a good point in a earlier episode that she is his daughter also.)

Bahar tells Cagla about her not house breaking and all that happened.. cousin is a funny character with his hat that makes me think of Sherlock Holmes! It's the comedic element.

Evren goes to Bahar's house to spend time with her.

Patient also has damage to the intestines so Evrin is also involved in the surgery along with Rengin.

I think Evren has something going on with his hands.

I was afraid it would run too long. The retired detective is playing Clue as he calls all the possible house breakers to Efsun's room. The house didn't have cameras, but neighbors saw something. The guilty person is ...well find out tomorrow if he's right
 

I don’t understand how velvet filmed 94 episodes and wednesday is the finale while we’re only on 90 tmrw….

Final Monday recap! Thanks, All, for the encouragement and assistance on all the things I miss. It’s been fun. I won’t be around for the El Senor show (had enough of drug dealers after the first three seasons) but I’ll keep an eye out for the next Turkish show or whatever else looks good for a reality break at night.

Rehash of Marga and Clara getting close to the truth of Carlos.

Gloria comforts her daughter, who is still mourning her dead husband and her pregnancy that might be Enrique’s, but telling her she looks terrible. She also tells her about Cris wanting to sell the interest in Velvet, and assures Val that she will not defraud her daughter in whatever it is she’s planning, but Val is in no mood for business. Glo also made an appointment for her to get the abortion to protect her financial interests, even though Val is independently wealthy and shouldn’t really need Glo’s “help” anymore.

Raul is in the atelier with Ric, chatting, and Lau comes by with a bottle of what looks like champagne. He’s decided to come out of the closet! What!!

Blanca and Esteban have dinner that he cooked. She asks if he’s found a job and he (probably) lies about putting out resumes and getting some interest. She talks to him about recovering his relationship with Sofia, and about her relationship with Ric. Enrique sounds almost normal as he talks about what a good guy Ric is.

Back to Raul! Ric congratulates him while Raul is still picking up his jaw off the floor. Raul asks Lau if he’s sure. Lau says that because of Raul, he is ready to come out in the open with their relationship. He says his career isn’t important when Raul asks about it. What’s important to him is accepting himself and being with Raul, and he asks if he can count on their support, which they both, obviously give. Yay! Lau is so off the sucks list.

Val and Glo are at a clinic, I think, where Val is still crying and saying Val2 loved her. Glo is not the least bit sympathetic about Val2 being dead. It was an accident and whatever. Val1 says it wasn’t an accident.

Cris tells the staff in the Keys that she’s leaving and they won’t have jobs soon. Jacinto and Alessandro are a bit surprised at this. She doesn’t care one bit.

Back to Val explaining what Enrique said about the death/murder. Glo is like, told you so, about Enrique being after the money. She also calls him a killer while the only Val left cries. She tells Val it’s ok because Val has her and she’ll always protect her daughter and definitely maybe not steal all her money like Enrique was going to. She seems to be having a hard time at being comforting and is saying Val was an easy target and easily manipulated, or some such. But when Val is called in, she says the baby is not to blame and that she is not as easy to manipulate as mommy though. Momma don’t preach. She’s made up her mind and she’s keeping her baby. She’s gonna keep her baby. (because that song popped in my head. Sorry).

Marga is at the rich people’s bar with Katy’s mom, who is crying after, I assume, talking to Marga about her daughter, and telling her how dangerous Carlos is. Mom talks about the darkness in her eyes. Marga asks if she still has Katy’s things and asks if she can see them. Mom asks why and eventually agrees. Who wouldn’t trust Marga?

Clara runs into Mateo and tells him about something going on between Ana and Carlos. Mateo is like, yea, they’re getting married. Not sure where they are but then they see a painting of the origami bird in a gallery (?) and Mateo recognizes it as something very much like what Al painted once before. And then Clara sees the dress. Or the painting of the woman in the dress, more accurately. They are shocked!

Jacinto is in cahoots with Carlos! (Did we know this already?) Jacinto talks to him about Al until Carlos gets a call from Gloria telling him she’s got the situation under control. He tells her he’s busy and things to do and he hangs up. Meanwhile, Jacinto is trying to keep Al and Tania from leaving the house. Al doesn’t take orders from him and he’s not a prisoner so he’s leaving. He asks Tania to take the kid to the car while he punches Jacinto, warns Alessandro, and calls Jacinto a wife-beater as he leaves. But as they are getting in the car, Jacinto has found a gun and holds it on Al.

But there is another masked man outside the compound who shoots at Jacinto! Or shoots at Al and hits Jacinto. Al goes to help Jacinto while Ale, who has also found a gun somehow, shoots at the masked man who looks suspiciously like Carlos.
.
Mateo asks Art Gallery guy about the artist, who tells them his name is Gabriel Jones. When they tell him about the dress, Art tells him this adds to the mystery. He tells them about the artist’s loss of memory, “Fiorella” being controlling and her craziness. Mateo shows Art other older works by Al on his phone, and they are the same style. Then Art sees a pic of Al and recognizes him as Gabriel!

Al and crew are back in the house where Jacinto is demanding to go the hospital and blaming Al for this. Ale says if they leave, they are dead.

Back to Art, who tells them how the wife wanted all the pics back, got violent and threatened him to get them back. Clara and Mateo recognize the description as Cristina. They also know Barbara was recently in Miami and that Carlos was down there as well. They are very worried, as is Art.
.
As they should be because the group is still holed up in the house. Marina shows up and they tell her to help Jacinto, but she says she’s a clinical nurse not a doctor. She should still know about putting pressure on the wound but Al seems better at this than her. Marina follows Alessandro to the kitchen, whining about him betraying Cris. She tells Ale that Cris chartered a helicopter for them all and Ale thinks this whole thing doesn’t make sense, which it doesn’t. Marina is more worried about the money she’s expecting from Cris than the dying guy in the living room.

Valeria is having a heart to heart with Blanca. She tells Blanca that their situations are different. Her dad is dead, her brother is dead. (Seems like the same all alone situation Blanca was in, really). But Blanca offers her encouragement, and Val says she needed to talk it out with Blanca because Blanca is a good person. And she has this secret that she wants to tell before she explodes. Blanca says she’s a tomb and won’t say anything. Val tells her that she and Enrique were lovers and that he killed Val2.

Cris is still in the Keys house. Where was she during all the shooting? Al wants to call the police but Cris says no. Seems the shooter is maybe gone, they think, but Cris is crazy adamant about no cops. Al insists she listen to him. He walks out and she says, sure, I’ll listen, and then goes to the wall safe and pulls out a gun. Not sure where that helicopter is or why it’s taking so long to get there.

Ale is very scared of the shooter. They don’t see him but he’s a good shot and Ale says it’s dangerous out there. Cris yells at him that this is why they need to leave. When Al and Ale go out, Cris asks Marina to drug Al and Cindy to drug Al and Cindy so she can get them in the helicopter. Marina hesitates because this might just be a step too far, despite the money. Cris wants it done, stat.

Val is still talking to Blanca. Val says no one will believe her or care about the truth. She told Glo who didn’t care about the killing or about the baby. Blanca assures her she doesn’t have to do anything about the pregnancy if she doesn’t want to. Her body, her choice, and Blanca will be there for her.

Unlike how Esteban will be there for Blanca because he’s busy trying to steal her savings. He succeeds and makes a call to someone telling them he has the money he owes. I hope it’s that Chinese gangster who beat people up so many chapters ago.

Back to Val. She tells Blanca that Enrique is blackmailing her about telling everyone what she did. She didn’t want Val2 to die and doesn’t want to be blamed for this. Blanca asks for her trust and that she’ll think of something.

Clara and Mateo are at the airport. She’s kinda excited about the investigating. Mateo tells her that he saw Al the other day and she’s annoyed that he didn’t tell her. They’re still friends, right? He needs to solve this now by going to Miami, and talks about missed chances. He kisses her!
.
Glo interrupts Val. Val yells at here that she’s having the baby and she doesn’t care what Glo thinks. Glo pretends like she’s a good mom to Val, etc., but Ale interrupts with a call demanding to know what the heck she did and if she’s trying to kill them. Glo has no idea what’s going on. Ale tells her that Cris is leaving on the copter without Jacinto, and if anything happens to him, it’s coming back down on her. Gloria tells him not to worry. She’ll find out what’s going on. As she leaves the house, Val recognizes something bad is happening and gets in a dig about Glo only being able to control Val’s life and not her own.

Mateo and Clara. He says he understands that she’s with someone else and a woman like her will always be able to move on, but she’s a bit shaken by him. They tell each other to take care and Mateo goes to the plane while Clara catches her breathe.

Raul! Lau is back and has something else to tell Raul. One reason he wants to come out of the closet is because someone has a compromising picture of him. Not with Raul. Lau was with a teammate and a paparazzi took a pic even though they thought they were careful. The photog has been blackmailing Lau. Raul asks if this is why he wanted to come out, the counter the blackmail. Lau is sheepish about this, and says now his agent has made an agreement with the paparazzi and the company that was going to publish the pic. They lose the photo and Lau gives them exclusives (of his stories, I assume, and not more neked pics). He’s going back in the closet and going to announce his marriage to Mia. Raul is very disappointed in him. So am I. He’s very much back on the sucks list for what he’s doing to Raul and to Mia. This isn’t fair to either of them.

Tania is crying over Jacinto for some reason while Marina provides some medical aid. Then Jacinto dies and Tania cries harder. Ale looks over this. He brings over a towel to cover Jacinto, quite sympathetic for a bad guy, while Marina doesn’t seem to care. Ale tells Tania that this was all a kidnapping but he can offer her all the money she needs to set her and the kids up in Mexico if she goes with him. But she’s not going anywhere. She didn’t want Jacinto dead and the kids will be devastated. Ale is irritated so maybe not so sympathetic. Al talks to Cris about escaping with Tania and Marina. Cris fake cries and he hugs her while Marina comes up behind him with a shot to the neck of the drugs that knock him out immediately. Cris is all done crying and snaps (literally snaps with her fingers, so rude) at Marina to tell Ale to come around with the car. Then she crazy laughs and tells Al to have a nice rest.

Blanca confronts Enrique about knowing about the murder. She says she knows everything and demands money from Enrique to keep quiet. He’s says no way. Blanca says fine, she’ll ask Valeria for money then. She’ll for sure pay up and it was probably her idea to kill her husband. Enrique grabs Blanca’s throat and hisses that Val had nothing to do with it. The murder was all him. And he continues to squeeze her neck. Risky plan, Blanca, but I have hope for her! It’s too late to kill off a good guy. Right? Right?

Wow, K, what a delightful recap! You've got a great comic gift, which makes
your recaps special. And even when you're not trying to be amusing, you say
things in a clever way, such as "while the only Val left cries."

I'm wondering why Marga wants to see Katy's clothes. Is it merely to confirm
that she had dresses from Velvet? Surely there must be more to it than
that. Would there be some of Carlos's DNA on Katy's dresses (or perhaps on
her underwear, though I doubt the mother would show Marga such items).
The presence of Carlos's DNA might prove that he did know Katy, in
spite of his denials.

Mr. Art Dealer has arranged a showing in his New York gallery of "Gabriel's"
paintings that he had bought in Florida. And that's where Mateo and Clara
see them. It's great that Mateo has photos of Alberto on his camera, and
also at least one that includes Cris/Fiorella. The mystery is unravelling.

Yes, as you say, the masked man looks suspiciously like Carlos. For me, it
was his BSC eyes that gave him away.

I felt badly for Raúl for getting his hopes up when Lao/Lau announces that
he's decided to come out of the closet, and at first it sounds as if he did
so because of Raúl. You say you're putting Lao/Lau "back on the sucks list
for what he's doing to Raúl and Mia." I'm not sure he's hurting Mia. My
assumption is that she knows he's gay and knows that she's helping him cover
that up. His coming out of the closet and marrying Mia is not hurting her,
IMHO, as long as she's aware of the situation and content with it. There's certainly some plusses that might appeal to her: Lao's fame, his money, and with any luck he's a fun person to be with.

The end of tonight's episode doesn't make it clear whether Enrique's angry
choking of Blanca will kill her. My guess is that it won't. But it puts
Enrique more firmly in the sucks list. Perhaps there should be a "Really
Sucks" list for Enrique, Gloria, and Carlos. I'd be tempted to add Cristina.
I'd reserve the plain old sucks list for folks like Marco, perhaps Susan,
Jules, Marina, and probably some others that I can't bring to mind right
now.

Babachita and Anon – I’m so glad you’re watching! And yay, Kat, you did a mini recap! This show is so good and it’s great to have you all to talk to about it. I do have a friend from Mexico who’s trying to watch but she gets up early for work so she mostly falls asleep before it comes on. It ends up with me just telling her what all happened.

And Babachita, thank you for your very kind words!

I thought this episode was great fun. It was very gratifying to see Bahar help out her prison pals, and for her and Rengin to work together to create a foundation to help poor women with medical expenses. Never underestimate the sisterhood! It kicks in even after they’ve been romantic rivals.

I liked the scene with Bahar and Cagla eating pizza and their talk, and then Cagla making herself scarce. I very much appreciated that after Evren arrived it wasn’t the usual “alone at last!” romantic scene where they fall in each other’s arms, but that Bahar instead got all nervous and shy and nothing happened.

But the very best was the detective. What a hoot! His cap at first – not a deerstalker but close, and then later his hat and trenchcoat! And then he calls them all together to announce who the culprit was in the very best Hercule Poirot style. The writers were having a wink at famous detectives and I got a tremendous kick out of it.

I wonder what the neighbor’s cameras captured. We’ll find out Tuesday I bet.

This episode was a nice mix of serious and humorous parts. Watching the cellmates watching Bahar intently contrasted with the previous scenes when Bahar first arrived in jail. They seem fascinated with her healing powers.

I really like the growing rapport between Rengin and Bahar and hope their daughters will eventually join them. Rengin has always seemed sort of socially awkward, in a way, especially compared to Bahar. I liked that they are working together and want to set up a foundation. The advice about selfish Timur so was very true.

I agree, Maggie, the detective was unexpected and very funny! I chuckled a lot while I was also increasingly worried when it looked like he might actually be a competent detective! I worry about what he has found! Fingers crossed for more humor, but Bahar and Evren may be in for a rough time.

I still heartily dislike Efsun and wonder if the writers will be able coax me out of this by providing background that makes her likable or at least worthy of sympathy.

I agree Carlos was the masked man. He is evil and I hope Marga is able to connect him to the disappearance/murder of Katy. I’m sad for Raul and really worried for Blanca.

Definitely Carlos was the shooter. And Chris teleported back home from somewhere.

So Clara also wants to see Kathy's apartment. Who keeps an apartment in NYC for 4 years! The clothes at Mom's house I understand. I think maybe Marga wants to prove she received Velvet clothes from Carlos.

I think they are cutting scenes as people teleport from place to place.

OT, K, if you haven't seen Kara Para Ask, another Turkish show, 4 of us are watching and giving comments on it in the daytime page. It can be found on YouTube. We are at episode 35 currently and mostly recapping on the weekends.

And yes Elfsun is just awful. That whole wedding design thing was the height of toxic suegradom. The actress is doing a great job though.

Let me chime in on how much I've enjoyed your clever recaps, K. There's always a number of gems that make me chuckle. I'm also not up for the Casillas thing. I guess there must be fans, but I don't seem to be in the target audience. Think I watched the earlier Señors until, IIRC, he killed his wife.

I've seen some bad telenovela mothers (Azela Robinson may be the gold standard), but Gloria is right up there with the best of them.

I'm trying to remember how many times I've seen this. I'd say lots. Scared, vulnerable young woman is in the waiting room for the abortion, and she runs out with trembling lips, vowing to love the inconvenient offspring.

I was hissing at my television when Esteban cleverly managed to get Jenni's DOB out of Blanca. So, I assume the password is Jenni5/15/2001.

Cris offered the Keys "staff" a year's salary. I assume this is for shutting up purposes.

I also liked "the only Val left". And Gloria "definitely, maybe not steal" Valeria's money. And the callback to Madonna...so clever.

How did Clara and Mateo, who aren't a couple anymore, end up in that gallery with Alberto's paintings?

Marina drives me nuts. She has the moral code of a pit viper. She always looks scared and appalled and then does whatever BSC Cris wants her to do. I have NO idea how Cris is going to end up. I'm pretty sure the little girl who's no biological relation at all will end up with Alberto, Ana, and Albertito.

I agree with Juanita. Mia knows she is a "beard" and probably well compensated. I hated seeing Raúl's sad face as he saw his dream of a family fade away.

Yep, the Cris actor is very good at crazy laughs and crazy eyes.

I just finished watching the additional chapter of the story of Adnan Syed which was a NY Times Serial podcast and a television documentary. They mentioned that the people trying to get his conviction vacated were asking for the clothing of the victim. They were trying to prove his DNA was not on her clothing and this was after more than 20 years. I think DNA sticks around, so maybe Katy's clothing will solve her murder.

Kat, I read your appeal for help on the Wednesday two-hour finale. Those are brutal, and I don't know why Telemundo does that. But then I don't know why Telemundo gives us, I think, 15 years of Aurelio Casillas, plus MUCH worse Spanish subtitles than Univisión.

I do remember some of us back in the day splitting the duty on those marathons. I'd be willing to recap the second half, if we have another volunteer for Part 1. I also read, Kat, that you're having some awful dental things happening the day of, so maybe there's another volunteer for Part 1.

Novelera, I think I can do the first hour. The two hours is tough as I get up at 6 a.m. To go babysit my granddaughter. I had 2 molars pulled in April and went out digging up hostas at a friend's in the heat right after it so I'm pretty resilient. Also my son in law is coming home early from work so I don't have to go back to babysitting. You are on west coast, right? I should get my half done before you start watching it.

I think I felt bad for Mia because of Lau's in the closet-out of the closet- back in nonsense. They were talking about having a baby and his hokey pokey with the press would make that decision a little tough. She really should dump him too. He's too wrapped up in his image to be a good parent right now. Raul definitely needs someone better.

More detective fun! I love his super deep voice. I wonder if the Turkish actor has a voice that deep. Now some of the characters are commenting that he’s useless. He just seems happy that he got called to do a job, and he’s obviously relishing every minute of it, though yes, he’s useless. Great outfits, though!

Timur sure was a pill about Bahar bringing Umay back a bit late.

I thought for sure there’d finally be a smooching scene with Bahar and Evren, but no, they were thwarted. I loved that she dressed up all sexy at Cagla’s behest (awful shoes, though!) and had forgotten to take the tag off her new dress.

Evren is actually going to give up his cool boat and water view for his brother? And the brother is crushing on Umay? This will be interesting.


 

Velvet Ep. 90 1 of 3

The episode opens with Blanca asking Enrique how much he's willing to pay
for her silence. He says not a centavo. Blanca says she'll talk to Valeria,
who will do as she asks. Enrique angrily insists that Valeria had nothing to
do with this. Blanca says Valeria wanted everything, so she killed her
husband. She asked you to kill him and you did her dirty work. Enrique grabs
Blanca around the neck and tells her no one asked me to do anything. I
wanted to kill Valentin, and doing it felt so good. Valeria could never hurt
anyone, but I can. I can be dangerous when provoked, and you're provoking
me. He squeezes her neck harder. Suddenly Emilio appears and orders
Enrique to let Blanca go. Pedro then appears, and Emilio asks Pedro whether
he got it all. Pedro says he did. Blanca tells Enrique "You've just
confessed your crime, and it's been recorded." Pedro assures Enrique, "It's in the cloud, dude."

The scene shifts to Carlos sitting in a car in Florida. Gloria calls him. He
denies he's in the Keys. Gloria warns him to leave. Jacinto has been shot.
She again tells Carlos to leave. Otherwise, he'll be a suspect. She tells
him she'll say you were with me the whole time.

Valeria is with Sofia. Enrique bursts in. Soon afterward, the police arrive
and arrest Enrique for Valentin's murder.

Marco and Clara are talking. He's concerned that Enrique's killing Valentin
will be a big scandal for Velvet. Pilar and Gloria will have to find a way
to deal with it, because we're on our way out. Clara is surprised. Marco
tells her that his father left him in charge of all the companies, and
apparently he's bailing out of Velvet (I found this rather confusing, and I
may not have it right.) He says he's the president of all the companies, and
he offers to name Clara Vice-President of the Cafiero Group. She seems
stunned and very pleased. He tells her that if she accepts, she'll have to
leave Velvet and come with him to Europe.

The police come and apparently either arrest Valeria or ask her to come with
them for questioning.

The scene shifts back to Florida. Alessandro tells Marina they have to
leave. She says she doesn't want to go with him. She just wants her money,
and then she's gone. Cris hands her a large leather bag that is apparently
filled with money. Then Cris leaves to get Alberto/Gabriel so they can leave
for Zurich. Oops, Mateo arrives thanks to Telenovela Airlines. He sees no
one in the house except Jacinto's body. He's about to leave when he hears
someone calling out. He finds Tania bound and gagged and stuffed in a
cabinet. He frees her and tries to get information from her. He shows her a
photo of Alberto, whom she identifies as Gabriel. He then shows her a photo
of Cris, aka Fiorela. He tries to explain to Tania who these people are and
are not. He begs her to help him.

Cris is in the process of trying to get Alberto out of the car when Mateo
appears. He stands there staring at her and Alberto. Finally, Alessandro
takes Cris away, while Mateo takes the drugged Alberto.

Tania explains to Mateo that they always kept "Gabriel" drugged. She also
says that he had lost his memory in a bad car accident Mateo tells her it
wasn't a car accident, but rather an earthquake in Turkey that caused
Alberto to lose his memory.

Pilar brings Valeria to Elena (Valentin's mother). No lawyers are present.
Valeria wants Elena to know the truth. She starts by telling her "It's true
that I was Enrique's lover." Elena accuses her of having married Valentin
for him money. Valeria says Elena is wrong. "I fell in love with Valentin. I
realized no other man would love me like he did. He called me his goddess."
Elena says, "If you really loved him, you wouldn't have been Enrique's
lover." Valeria admits that "What happened with Enrique was wrong, but I
felt alive. I never thought Enrique would commit a crime. You lost a son,
and I lost a man who loved me. I don't want you to hate me. That's why I
want to give back the mines. They're yours. I never wanted Valentin to die."

Marga has been investigating Katy Mendez's death and the possibility that
Carlos killed her. Marga also met with Katy's mother. Now she has arranged
to meet with Carlos's boss, Sara Sahgun. Pedro offers to go with her. Marga
tells Sara she's investigating Katy's death and the possible role Carlos
Aristizabel may have had. Sara tells her this is old news. The police
investigated at the time and concluded that Carlos had nothing to do with
Katy.

Gloria meets with Cris. She asks where Alberto is. Cris says that Mateo saw
him and ripped him from her arms. Gloria then tells Cris about Enrique being
arrested for the murder of Valentin. Cris says lets get lots of lawyers.
Gloria says I need access to your accounts. It will take a lot of money to
pay for the bail and the team of lawyers. Cris takes a piece of paper,
writes something on it quickly, signs it, and gives it to Gloria, telling
her "Just fill in the amount of money you want." Gloria then promises to get
Enrique out of jail and to get Alfredo back to her.

Clara meets Marga at a cafe and tells her that Alberto is alive. Marga is
stunned. Alberto Márquez?? Yes. He doesn't know who he is, but he's alive!

Gloria meets with Alessandro. She tells him Jacinto is dead. "Yes," replies
Alessandro, "the hitman you sent to kill us killed him." Gloria adamantly
insists that she never sent anyone. Alessandro asks who else knew about what
was going on in the Florida Keys house. Gloria replies, "Carlos
Aristizabel. He seems very sympatico, but deep down there's unimaginable
darkness." She goes on to tell Alessandro what she has in mind: "We're
going to pin everything on Cris--the kidnapper and murderer's sister."

Mateo tells Alberto "I'm Mateo Andrade. Your best friend. You were held for
three years under the name Gabriel Jones." Alberto stares at Mateo and
tentatively says "Mateo." Mateo then shows Alberto a photo of a painting
Alberto made while in high school. Alberto asks, "You and I went to school
together? What about Fiorela?" Mateo informs him that her real name is
Cristina Otegui. "You and Cristina were married. Cristina's daughter isn't
your daughter. You didn't have children with her." Alberto replies, "But
that girl--she's my daughter." (Good for you, Alberto!)

Gloria meets with Carlos. She tells him Alberto is with Mateo. "That can't
be!" Gloria says "It is. Mateo discovered that Alberto was in the Florida
Keys and went looking for him. But nobody knows where they are." Carlos asks
what Gloria wants to do. She replies, "Wait, and place all the blame on
Cristina." Carlos points out that Alberto might talk. "Only if he's alive,"
she replies. She continues, "Maybe Cristina in her unbalanced state of mind
could end up killing Alberto and Barbara."

Valeria comes to Emilio's place. There's a loud knock on the door. It's
Gloria, who announces, "I've come for my daughter." Valeria tells her "I'm
not going anywhere with you. My only mistake was trusting you again. All you
care about is money. I'm giving Elena back the mines." Gloria is shocked.
You're an imbecile! You can't do that!" Valeria responds, "You're an empty
husk who has always sought a happiness she will never find."

Cris comes to see Enrique in jail. He says he's innocent. She tells him she
has another problem to deal with: Alberto. He's alive. Enrique asks her who
has helped her? Who else knows? Cris replies, Gloria. Cris begins to sound a
bit weird. Enrique tells her, "You need help. Come back down to earth.
Otherwise Gloria will take all your money. Stay away from Gloria."

Gloria is sitting in a cafe and someone sits down at the same table. Without
even looking up, Gloria says "that seat is taken." "Yes, by me" replies a
rather different looking Marina. Indeed, the first thing Gloria says to her
is "You look...different." Marina acknowledges that this is true, and says
that the money helped. But she quickly moves away from small talk. She says
to Gloria, "If I open my mouth, all of you go to jail." Marina also points
out that the media would probably love to have this story. Gloria replies,
"Cris already gave you one million dollars--what more to you want?" Marina
quickly replies, "Three million dollars in cash." Gloria asks, "How can I
be sure you won't ask for more?" Marina, nobody's fool, replies "I know you.
I'll stay far away from you."

We see Blanca, Raúl, and Ana, probably at Ana's apartment. Ana is in her
wedding dress. Clara arrives, and I thought she might be planning to break
the news about Alberto, but no, apparently not.

Gloria and Alessandro are together, perhaps in Gloria's house. She goes to a
safe and takes out large piles of bills. Alessandro asks, "Where'd you
get all that money?" Gloria tells him it's from Cristina--"she won't need it
once she's dead." A somewhat disconcerted Alessandro starts to ask, "Are
you wanting me...." Gloria interrupts him to assure him that "no, you take
care of Marina, Carlos will take care of Cristina." She then hands him a
hefty pile of bills. "This is a small advance. I'll give you the rest when
that woman is no longer a problem." She adds: "I want you to kill her
today. Is that clear?"

The scene shifts to a courthouse. Everyone is there for the wedding of Ana
and Carlos. As Ana appears, Carlos says "You're just in time to make me the
happiest man in the world." Ana walks up to him. Suddenly Mateo rushes in,
saying "Ana--you can't get married!" A second or two later, Alberto slowly
makes his way into the room. He walks up to Ana and says her name as the
episode ends.
 

Bahar

She dressed up for the date but kept a sweater jacket on during their meal until she pulled a drink on herself. Then Evren got to see the full effect of the new dress.

The detective is a fun addition. Bahar chewing Aziz Uras out was spot on. But I wouldn't have called him to young to have children. He's 24+.

Is this the episode where Timur names AU the chief resident. Bit of nepotism there. Timur telling Efsun that she kept wasting his staffs time, they have a hospital to run. We say that all the time

So Bahar knows about Evren's hand weakness. Not sure when she discovered that. I guess Drs make the worst patients, they don't want to be seen by another. I'm sure it is because he is afraid of what the results may show. Could be carpal tunnel as he is a surgeon.

This episode revealed a bit more of Evren's history, via Cem. It doesn't mention Evren's mother not being on the scene. If she had passed then their dad had the right to move on with a new relationship. It sounds like he just abandoned Evren and the grown sister. That was certainly wrong to do to Evren.

Good job. I also wondered why Clara didn't tell Ana that Al is alive. I guess a last minute stopping of a wedding makes more of an impact. I must have been distracted when Marco talked to Clara about Velvet because that was all news to me. Of course I'm not vested in his stories so I was distracted by Duolingo or something!

OT, it took 30 minutes for the dentist to pull 3 broken teeth. I go back next week for a bone graft so I can have an implant done. I'm getting the teeth fixed because the orthopedic surgeon says he won't replace my hip unless they are taken care of... So far the pain is minimal so hopefully I can do tonight's first half recap justice. I probably should take a nap as I woke up at 4:30 this a.m.....

Clara could have provided some warning to Ana! Hey, happy wedding day, Friend, but maybe have a change of clothes ready just in case this doesn't happen. Something.

Should have known Blanca would be too smart to not have backup. Even Pedro proved useful for a change! Good for him.

I missed the threat to Barbie's life. I'm disappointed in her not telling someone about Alberto, but she doesn't deserve to be murdered. Marina, maybe, but she might be too smart to get herself killed. Barbie is just not that smart. Her only hope now is that the show won't kill off a mother.

Speaking of, I was thinking that Cris got pregnant with Cindy in Florida. Forgot that the earlier fake pregnancy didn't end in a miscarriage. Good thing she didn't have to explain the 12 month gestation! But trusting Gloria is proving to be her downfall. I look forward to Gloria getting what's coming to her.

Splendid recap, Juanita! That was a very exciting episode and riveting to the very end.

So, they were planning to leave that house in the Keys with Tania in a closet to die of thirst and starvation?

Cris really vacillates wildly between being very shrewd and spoiled rich girl stupid. Anyone with any amount of spidey sense would be aware of how amoral Gloria is. And she gave her a scribble giving her access to her money. Guess we're dealing with Telenovela Banking because that scribble apparently got Glo enough money to pay Alessandro to murder Marina.

Wow. Carlos's face when he heard Alberto was with Mateo...priceless.

Yikes, Gloria has to come to a very bad end. I guess it can be rough being a stepparent, but to cold-bloodedly work with a psychopath to kill a kid who grew up under your roof? That's next level bad to the bone.

Guess Marina felt pretty confident. But, if Gloria called her bluff, wouldn't Marina herself end up in the slammer as an accomplice?

I just saw a show available on PBS under their Walter Presents series (foreign show) called Bajo Sospecho. It stars Yon (Alberto). I’ll have to check this out since I need fillers until the next novela that doesn’t revolve around a drug cartel.

This show has deviated quite a bit from the original (from what I remember) and it’s interesting to see. I actually like it better.

Velvet #91 gran finale first hour #1

It starts back with Mateo saying Ana, you can't marry Carlos. Al saunters in with his curly locks. Blanca and Emilio are shocked, Carla and Marga give each other knowing looks. Segue to their song and flashback to their first meeting as children, their teenage years, Ana wearing the crimson dress. Al says mi amor. Carlos says Ana. Ana reaches for his face, saying his name and promptly faints away into his arms. (Saw that coming from a mile away.)

Alessandro meets Marina in a bar and tells her you should have left with the money Christina gave you. Marina calls him Gloria's lapdog who only gets called when she wants dirty work done. She wants him maybe I have a gun in my purse. Ale says you didn't come back for the money, you came for me.. "you wish," she laughs. He says we could only get 2 million, take it or leave it. They leave together.

Al wakes Ana up from her faint (without a kiss). His memory is coming back. He recognizes Emilio and Raul. He and Mateo are going to the police to report the kidnapping. I love you he says.

Carlos says Ana, let's go the judge is waiting, lol. (Really dude. You're too late!).

Mateo and a dazed Al. Leave Velvet. Al's like she was about to get married! Mateo assures him she never stopped loving you. Carlos comes out and fishes for information about the kidnappers. Only Christina he remembers. Carlos goes into his let me help mode. Clara comes out and asks can I let everyone know now. Carlos thinks it's a bad idea. Mateo gives her the green light.

First on the list is Val! But she doesn't know how. Val thinks it's more bad news. On the contrary, it's the best! Alberto is alive. She gets the kidnapping info. He's alive! Big hugs. Who kidnapped him? Chris. Val doubts she worked alone. ( Mommy dearest is what she is likely thinking). They are making a police report then going to Ana's apartment. I want to tell everyone, Clara says, but you first

BSC Chris and Barbie enter Velvet. Chris wants to explain all to Gabriel. Barbie tells her to stop calling him Gabriel. Chris retreats to her fantasy, he lives me and my daughter. I kept him alive, blah blah. Aren't you my friend. Yes Barbie says but I don't want to be accused of being your accomplice. Don't be a coward Chris advises her.

Chris now wants to talk to Gloria. Barbie rolls her eyes in frustration at not getting through to Chris.

Carlos calls Gloria furious that Al showed up just before he married Ana. Gloria, ever vigilant asks did he recognize you? No, but he knows Chris did it. Gloria reminds him this is good, all part of the plan. Carlos is losing it. Al saw me in the keys. At any moment he'll remember. Gloria reminds him he takes care of Al, she's got Chris. They hang up. Chris gets off the elevator and talks to Gloria about the trip to Zurich. Gloria tells her to wait in the office.

Kat, I'm glad you too wondered about why Clara didn't say anything about
Alberto's being alive. I think you're right that her NOT saying anything made
the episode more exciting. But OTOH, if she's not going to say anything,
what was the point of having her appear in that scene? And I agree that
Marco's scenes tend not to be all that interesting. The only reason I made
sure to watch is that I was recapping.

K, I loved your "Hey, happy wedding day, Friend, but maybe have a
change of clothes ready just in case this doesn't happen. Something."

As for the threat to Barbie's life, Gloria is determined to get rid of all
"loose ends" (cabos sueltos), and she mentions Barbie as one of the
Loose ends. I think she doesn't mention killing Barbie at that moment, but a
bit later in the episode she includes Barbie as one of the people a deranged
Cristina might murder.

Novelera, I actually hadn't thought about what would have happened to Tania
if Mateo hadn't come along and heard her making noises. But you're right--
all the Keys people except Tania are absolutely dreadful. We're all rooting
for some terrible fate for Gloria, but she's hardly the only one who
deserves to suffer a horrid fate.

And yes, Carlos has an amazing ability to say things with his facial
expressions, as when he heard Alberto was with Mateo. I think this role was
perfect for Danilo Carrera. I don't recall seeing him in other novelas. I
would bet he's most often cast as a galan, without taking advantage of his
BSC facial talents.

And finally, many thanks to Kat, for being willing to recap in spite of
today's dental surgery, and to novelera, for sharing the 2-hour recap
chores. I'm not sorry that the novela is coming to an end, but I'm going to
miss all the great recaps and commentary.
 

Velvet GF part 2

Gloria goes down to the ground floor of velvet and sees Enzo. She tells him Al is alive, excitedly. Barbie is watching. Gloria says that Chris kidnapped him and held him at her house in the keys. They found a dead man in her house. It must have been her. Barbie is running up the stairs. 2 police witness her speech to Enzo.

Barbie tells Chris we need to leave , Gloria betrayed you. Enzo reassures Gloria that no one will believe Chris. Everything will be ok.

Ana singing her he's alive refrain to Marga. (She has been such a wishy washy character, and here is more of the same.). Margarita fills her in on Carlos dastardly deeds. No he would never she bleats again. Margarita says he is involved in his kidnapping. He used a saghan plane to get him out of Turkey. Who broke the news he was dead. Ana finally sees the light.

Sara, with HR, goes into Carlos office. She excuses them and tells Carlos about Katy mendez. Her body was found in a national park. Carlos plays the shocked and grieving former boyfriend. Sara goes on to tell him Margarita found some links to him and Katy. You'll need to explain to her and the police who have reopened the case.

Al and Mateo are at the Queens lodging building. Clara and Val come in too. Val says hermanito, I didn't lose you, and hugs him. He reciprocates. Al pulls her name out of his memory banks. Oh yeah, the bad guys are going down , but we know it will be with a fight as there is still over 90 minutes in the show.

Sara suspends Carlos until everything is cleared up. He goes whacko threatening her. She will call security. He pulls himself together and apologizes.

Al sends Mateo and Clara into Ana's as Val has told him her life is falling apart. He gets filled in on her marriage. 2 days ago he died. (Seems like it's been longer). She really misses him. She didn't realize how much she loved him till he was gone. More hugs. Chris and Barbie now come up to them. Chris still in her fantasy world. Al really remembers. Tells her Ana is the only woman I've lived. You are crazy. Barbie pulls her away, Chris turns back to face Al and pulls her gun out of her purse. (How did that make it through airport security?, wait, she had the helicopter ride. Did they fly her all the way to NY in it?). Al tells her to put the gun down. She continues with her plans for him, we are going to Zurich together and you will love me. Barbie tries to stop Chris, the gun goes off, missing Al and Val. Barbie is out of there. Chris continues to rail against him not living her. He says Cindy needs you. Two residents come out to see who shot the gun, then go back to their apartment when they here the crazy one. Chris puts the gun back in her purse and leaves.


 

Velvet GF part 3 (34:08 into the show)

Alessandro has driven Marina to some warehouse type parking lot, or maybe an airport lot. Can't tell. Where's my money. He tells her it's in the trunk. Get out. And he has a gun he's hiding from her sight. At the trunk he tells her to cover her eyes with a scarf and get in the trunk at gunpoint. She asks him to help her., turns her back, pulls some sharp objects from her purse and stabs him in the leg. He feels over into the trunk and she slams the trunk on him and runs away like a girl. (She should have grabbed the gun).

Mateo and Clara run to Val and Al. They heard a gunshot. It was crazy Chris. Al has a flashback to Carlos in the keys telling jacinto to take care of something or he won't get paid. Al sees money exchanged. He thinks he knows Carlos. Jacinto tells him he's the refrigerator repairman (dressed in a dress shirt and nice pants, haha!l). The money is given back to Carlos by jacinto for fixing it. Al tells Mateo, et al, that Carlos was at the house in the Keys. Also your mother was there, he tells Val. Al feels he needs to talk to him (of course he does, God forbid they have the police handle it). Mateo and he are off.

Emilio is telling Blanca what he knows about Al. She can't believe it. Blanca got a text(bet from the bank). It's her savings account. This morning she realized her atm card was missing. She was going to report it after the wedding (dumb de dum dum). Huge sums are being withdrawn. Isn't there a $400 limit per day on ATM cards? I have to get to the bank right away.

Carlos still seems to be at his office, but in a common area. Al and Mateo find him. You helped Chris. Also you are going down for the murders is Katy and Rodrigo. He says you have no proof. Al slugs him when Carlos says he doesn't deserve Ana. Carlos retaliates and hits Al and Mateo and rushes off. Al chases him outside and more fisticuffs ensue. Carlos head bitts him, runs across the street but stops in the middle taunting Al, you know what your son calls me? Papa. Slam. He's hit by a SUV! 1 down?

Alessandro is limping with a bloody leg into Gloria's office. He says that is one clever girl. She stabbed me. Where is she, Gloria demands. No idea, she got away. He wants his money, he's out. You should git also. She's not going anywhere. She's marrying Enzo and she has access to Christina's money. He still wants his money. You'll get it after you go to the police and turn in Chris. Are you crazy, he asks? I'll end up in jail. True, but when you get out you'll be super rich! He refuses. New plan. I'll turn you and Barbie in and claim you threatened to kill me if I said anything. Who will they believe? It's either me or you. Believes me ale, I'll protect you if you turn yourself in.
 

Velvet GF part 4 (47:00)

Emilio and Blanca catch Esteban trying to leave her apartment with a bag. Blanca grabs it and pulls out her money. It was you! You robbed me! I promise I was going to pay you back,! Liar. They are through...get out of my house. Do it the easy way, Emilio suggests, or we can call the police.

Alessandro I guess is at Velvet. He tells Val everything her mother has done, including what she did to Al's mom. She is trying to pin the kidnapping on Barbie and Chris. Barbie had nothing to do with it. He's taking Gloria down with him. Val is in tears.

Emilio is escorting Esteban out of the apartment building. Sofia exits the elevator. Emilio tells her what he's done. She never wants to see him again. Emilio calms her down and hugs her. Esteban leaves.

Val confronts Gloria. Gloria tries to stick to her I'm innocent story. You have no proof, Val. Are you really going to make an enemy of the one who gave you life? That's a bad idea. Especially since you are implicated in your husband's death.

Ana and Al. Reunited and it feels so good...she wants him to meet someone. Our son.

Looks like Marina has found Alessandro in a bar. I think she drugs his drink. Yup it was her. Soon you can't talk or walk. I spiked your drink.

Part 4 of 6

Blanca and Emilio arrive at her apartment just as Esteban is about to leave. Looking like a storm cloud she tells him the bank contacted her about some large withdrawals. Emilio says surely he won’t mind their looking at his bag. Blanca pulls out wads of money. She tells him he’s just the way he always was. “Get out!” He whines that he has nowhere to go. “This is not MY problem!”, replies Blanca.

Valeria has come looking for her mother and finds Alessandro. He’s furious at her willingness to have him serve a prison term. He snarls that Glo was behind what happened to Alberto, working with Carlos Aristizábel. “Alberto lost his memory during the earthquake, and they had him practically a prisoner in Florida. Alberto’s mother was innocent. Your mother sent someone to kill her, but she killed him in self-defense. Then Gloria paid some corrupt lawyers to be sure she stayed in prison. I’m not going down alone!”

Esteban meets his daughter on his way out. She can’t believe he robbed Blanca. She never wants to see him again.

Valeria confronts her mother. She runs through it all, chapter and verse. Gloria, of course, is unrepentant.

Alberto has come to the apartment in Queens. He and Ana kiss. He tells her he didn’t remember his own name, but he remembered her face. She then introduces him to a surprise, his child.

The two people with zero morals are in a bar. We see that Marina has put an eyedropper full of something into Alessandro’s drink. She gloats about it to his face as he begins to feel weak.

Alberto says he feels reborn. He also says he now understands what Carlos said to him (the crack about Alberto’s son calling him papá). Mateo arrives and says they need to go to the police station again.

Gloria marches into Marco’s office, highhanded as usual, because Enzo isn’t picking up. Marco knows about Alberto having been kidnapped. She tries to wiggle out of this, but Marco says that, since she’s the one who’s handling Cristina’s money, she must have known. Marco pulls no punches. “What? Do you think I wouldn’t have investigated you and what’s his name, Alessandro? The guy who worked for an Italian mafioso?"

Mateo and Alberto come to the upscale bar to ask Barbie where Cristina is. She wastes some time saying that she’s very sorry and didn’t know he was alive until recently. She also tells him that Cris left Cindy with her. She tries one last evasion, saying something about Cris having a plane fired up at the airport. Then she finally caves: “Cristina is at Velvet.” Alberto: “¡Ana!

Ana is gathering her designs and telling Emilio they’ll leave soon. Emilio says he’ll check the doors because an alarm went off. Guess it’s Bring Your Kid to Work Day in NYC because Albertito is by her side. She is telling him his father is back, and they’ll be a family when Cris walks in. “Are you sure?” She’s still packing the gun that went off earlier and has one of those big red plastic cans of gas that seem easy for villains to come by.

Part 5 of 6

Looking awful, mascara running, she says that Ana took what she loved the most. She starts raving that, if Ana hadn’t met Alberto, he’d have loved her. “We were caring for our daughter!” She shoots a round into the ceiling. The red dress is not in its History of Velvet place, rather it’s in the atelier. Cris orders Ana to put it on; it’s her big night.

Alessandro is in the passenger seat of his car, in and out of consciousness. Marina returns, saying she knew Gloria had given him lots of money. Sounds like she’s already grabbed it, although we don’t see it. Cool as a cucumber she puts on some gloves. She also seems to hint they had a romp in the hay a time or two in Florida. She puts a gun in his mouth and tells him to say Ah. The camera moves outside the car, and we hear the shot and see the muzzle flash. I think those crime scene people will figure out it wasn’t suicide.

Cris agrees to let Albertito leave the room. When the door closes behind him, Gloria approaches, telling him grandma will take care of him (more like the wolf dressed up as grandma).

Ana has put on the dress. Cris pours gas all over the room, saying the best way to be the most famous designer of all is to die. She swans around looking nuts. She snarks it’s a way to honor her mother, who also died in a fire. She fires up a lighter and throws it into the gas on the floor. Whoosh!

We don’t find out what Gloria planned with Albertito because Emilio stops her. Alberto and Mateo run into the building as well. We hear sirens. We also see Ana and Gloria struggling for the gun. It goes off and hits the gas can. Big explosion that knocks the two women off their feet.

Clara is with Marco. He doesn’t want to live in the past. Why should they not just leave for Europe tomorrow?

Ana the Saint is in the hospital asking if Cristina got out. Emilio brings in Albertito and then tells Ana that Christina didn’t make it. Alberto says that Cris made him believe Cindy was his, but he loves her. The Saint tells him a father is not the one who engenders a child, but rather the one who raises them.

Sigh. Clara is dolled up arm in arm with Marco and bidding Mateo goodbye. Raúl intervenes. He begins saying what Mateo should have said. That he loves her. Mateo takes over and says that if she leaves, he’ll become the most pathetic bachelor in New York. “You are the love of my life.” Clara bids Marco goodbye. He takes it pretty well.

Sara tells Valeria that they investigated and discovered that Carlos had used one of the Sahgún planes to get Alberto out of Turkey using a false name. He then used company planes to go to the Keys.

Gloria is just about to fly to Oaxaca when the cops grab her up and read her her rights.

Sara has come to see Carlos in the hospital. He doesn’t seem to remember how he was injured. He complains that he can’t feel his legs. Sara tells him he’ll never walk again. Apparently, they did a deep dive on him, and she says he’ll have to answer for his crimes in a wheelchair. She calls him a monster.

Part 6 of 6

Alberto assures Tania that she won’t face any charges. She’s also a victim. He’s getting her a ticket to Mexico to be with her children, plus he’ll be paying for their education. They embrace.

THREE MONTHS LATER

Gloria is in a huge cell wearing her orange jumpsuit. A guard appears saying she’s bringing a cellmate. It’s Marina. Marina is grinning, saying she now knows why they say there’s no such thing as unpaid debts. “You just have to be patient!” She gets close and grabs Gloria by the hair.

Something legal has happened. Papers are signed. Enzo has signed over the ownership of Velvet to Alberto and Valeria. Nothing was said about money. Pilar looks on, snippy, and remarks that they’ll put the business in ruins in no time. Valeria and Alberto offer her some kind of deal for Pima working with Velvet. She says she’ll think about it.

Valeria tells Alberto that her mother has been sent up for 25 years.

Pilar tells Sofi that Esteban is working in a tailor’s shop in Spain. They both hope he’ll change but both doubt it. Pilar has bought a small flat in London where Sofi and Rick can live. She won’t take no for an answer.

Pedro and Marga finally are shut of their undesirable partners and fall into each other’s arms.

Valeria visits Enrique in prison. Another orange jumpsuit. He still insists that Valeria loves him. She says that he’s incapable of love. She lays it out for him. He did everything he did for himself. She says that she fell into his game for having low self-esteem. She goes on to say that he didn’t get her a huge fortune by doing away with Valentin. She gave it all back. He can’t believe it. When she’s about to leave he tries on one of his old smirks, saying they’ll be intertwined because of the baby. She pulls out a test. It proves the baby is Valentin’s. The camera moves away on Enrique sobbing in the visitation room.

At the church Emma begs Clara for some grandchildren, even though she now has an exact copy of Emily the dog. Clara proposes to Mateo. She would have knelt if it weren’t for that tight red dress.

Ana looks gorgeous walking down the aisle. Their children are Flower Girl and Flower Boy. Emilio gives her away. We hear their vows. Emilio and Blanca are holding hands in their pew. Ah! Some man is staring fixedly at Raúl across the aisle of the church. It turns out Valeria invited him. He’s a French designer. Things look promising for Raúl.

Ana and Alberto exit the church showered with folded cranes. They talk about coming through so much adversity. Lots of kisses. They pick up their children, smiling

Novelera. Thanks for picking up where I left off. Juanita may rescue my part 4.

I haven't watched the last half yet, but I am happy that Carlos wasn't killed and gets to suffer instead. I am assuming Barbie is free from repercussions. Yay, Val 1 and 2 are the parents. Will it be a boy, thus Val 3? Cindy and Alberto would be Christina's heirs so I bet he bought back the company. Pilar buying Sophie and apartment was nice. I never thought she really sucked, and having some affiliation in velvet will be good for them. Maybe bankruptcy won't be in their future. Did Al keep the tousled hair look? I'll watch the last hour later.

Kat, I just woke up, saw your message, and retrieved your part 4. So there are now two part 4s. This may confuse people, especially since I deleted the brief messages between you and novelera about your part 4 having gone missing. But better more than less, I think, especially for this 2-hour grand final.

Thanks Juanita. Some day I'll label 3/4, etc. but I'm never sure if it will be that many till the end of the third comment and rather than going back and editing I just hit publish. Novelera went into more detail. I wanted to finish so I could get to Duolingo before midnight so I get my bonus points in the morning and evening.....
 

Kat, I always write my recaps on a text app first, and I don't post them until all are finished. That way, I can deal with one segment being refused because it's too long, etc. Since I have all the parts, it's easy to go to each one and simply change 3 to 4 (or whatever) on each of the parts. Again, thanks very much!

Al's hair was slicked back in the wedding. I realize why it bothers me. He looks like a grown up Eddie Munster with that widow's peak. I wonder why they are called widow's peaks?

Little Cindy is older than Alfredito, but he towered over her. I was going to say they cast the kids wrong, but some toddlers are petite and others are giants .

So Al really hated Chris. When he rescued Ana he could have put her outside the atelier and gone back for Chris. Beans fell on her in the fire, but they haven't shut down the building the next day? Or whatever the timeline was. I guess since it was in an old building sprinkler systems weren't mandatory?

Val proved to be a strong woman in the end, having toxic Gloria out of her life can only help. Perhaps Elena will forgive her as she is carrying her grandchild.

I'm glad this is over, it was an ok TN in my ranking. Would have bailed without the patio. Not sure anything great is coming down the pike. Fellow recapper added a lot to the enjoyment. Thanks again Novelera for stepping up. My teeth extraction went well. Go back next week for a bone graft, one of the teeth pulled id my front left so I now look like and year old losing their teeth. Wish God gave us 3 or more sets, or better yet be like a starfish that throws a limb when they lose one, or a shark that constantly regrows teeth, I think.

OT, Juanita tell me more about this app and do you use it on your phone? I don't use my laptop, I find I can type quite quickly on the phone so that is what I use.

Wow! Many thanks, Kat and novelera, for this terrific joint recap of the grand final.

Kat, I think the "flashbacks" may be what's going on in Alberto's brain when
he sees Ana. Her presence is helping him get his memory back.

I like to think of Ana as basically quite strong, and so I was somewhat
disappointed when she faints in Alberto's arms.

Carlos's stopping in the middle of the street to taunt Alberto seemed
somewhat farfetched--not the taunting, but doing so in the middle of a
street with traffic. Oh well, I'm not complaining. One very bad guy down, a
bunch more to go.

Should we have a vote on who is the baddest of the bad? At one time, I
might have voted for Carlos, but I've decided instead on Gloria. She even
turns on her daughter (after asking her "Are you really going to make an
enemy of the one who gave you life?" she then threatens her, saying
"Especially since you are implicated in your husband's death." I think
there is NO ONE that Gloria wouldn't hurt or kill if it serves her
interests.

Gloria tells Albertito that grandma will take care of him. I loved the
follow-up: "(more like the wolf dressed up as grandma)."

I loved the scene where Raúl says to Clara what Mateo should have said,
starting with "I love you." Fortunately, Mateo picks it up from there.

I also loved it when Rick, noticing the goodlooking guy across the
aisle eyeing Raúl, says to Raúl something like "check out 3 o'clock," and
Raúl looks at his watch!

So apparently there's no redemption for Esteban, but there seems to be for
Pilar (who buys a London flat for Rick and Sofia), and perhaps for Marco and
Enzo, both of whom were at one point nasty pieces of work, but not at the
end.

Again, thanks VERY VERY MUCH, Kat and novelera, for putting together such a
wonderful recap of the novela's grand final!

K, I’m going to miss your very entertaining recaps that were often better than the episode. Juanita you and novelera are the master recappers. So that’s that! The last few eps were so choppy to the point of wth? People teleported all over the place. Closures happened in a sentence or two.

Happy for Valeria. She’ll be okay. I liked that Albert and Pilar are trying to find a way to reconcile.

I lol’d when Carlos stood in the street and got hit by the car—the special effect looked so cartoonish.

Gloria’s punishment is not enough for my liking. She only gets 25 years? The cop said she committed crimes in the US and Mexico. Big deal they put Marina in her cell. I hope the guards make Glo’s life hell.

I may be in the minority on this but I didn’t like that they killed Cris. Kat, I think it was too dangerous to just put Ana outside the door. ITA about no sprinkler system. The whole place is full of fabrics! Then we had a jump of 3 months so I guess everything was renovated.

As far as I’m concerned, Barbie never did the right thing. She was a b*tch for most of the show and cowardly when push came to shove. So, she kinda sucks in my book. Rich and stupid is no excuse.

Enrique rots in jail. He’s got no one who cares. Fine with me.

Lol, I wondered why Glo’s lapdog had an Italian name, Alessandro. Turns out he’s from the “Italian Mafia”! Must have been a reject—he’s done in by a clinical nurse! Good grief.

Keeping with the formula, Ana and Albert get their HEA. At least we got a real church wedding at the end and not another Velvet special event.

Since I’m a glutton for punishment, I’ll check out Los Casillas in October. I won’t recap though. I can catch up on Bahar now and I’m rewatching KPA with the Daytime y Mas patio.

Dizi season has started in Türkiye and I’m checking out a couple of new ones that look promising.
