I enjoyed this episode. It didn’t seem too chopped up – at least it seemed straightforward without confusing bits. Oh wait, there was one part I didn’t get. What exactly is Tulgra up to? Why is he having his assistant spy? What information is he looking for? And why do they seem to be saying that the head doctor election was rigged? Didn’t it go to Evren who then demurred and passed it on to Timur? Obviously Rengin has her eye on it to get revenge on Timur and probably just because. Great resumé stuff!
Scary warning about Tulgra. Will they warn Rengin?
We finish up with Efsun putting her foot right in it. As usual! But I don’t think she was aware that Bahar hadn’t announced her pregnancy yet.
Friday’s the last episode, right?
I meant to weigh in on the pregnancy. I don't think Bahar really is pregnant. If I were her I'd be doing an ultrasound on myself. I think she is in perimenopause and the pregnancy tests are giving a false positive. I've read stories about this happening (on social media so maybe they aren't true, but it sure seems plausible). Also, I'm not a fan of abortion, but the effect it would have on her health and the fact she is on anti rejection medications for the liver transplant makes this a really high risk pregnancy I think. Wouldn't the meds adversely affect the fetus?
Tugra needs Timur out as the chief so he can cook the books in his money laundering scheme. Timur is on top of all that and nothing gets past him. If Ahu can find just cause to fire him then Rengin will likely get the job and he is grooming her to accept anything he does I think.
I wonder if the original Bahar second season ended with the proposal on the hospital roof. Then since the ratings stayed hight the story was added to. Not sure if tonight is the last episode. You can find season 3 on YouTube in Turkish. If nothing good comes to Telemundo maybe Dondi can do a weekly episode recap of them, lol. I hate these unfinished storylines! (Karsu, I'm looking at you). I guess if we knew in 6 months that Telemundo would air the next season for sure I could wait. I've always been the type of person that would stay up all night reading a good book to see how it ends....
You make some excellent points Kat! Interesting about perimenopause and the possibility of a false positive. And about the anti rejection meds. Could they be a danger to the fetus?
My amiga who has been watching the Turkish shows on our Spanish channel is confident that future seasons will be shown later. Mujer came back! I hope Karsu and this one will.
Maggie
I skimmed through the Turkish episode and there wasn't any significant edits.
Kat, your theory on Bahar's pregnancy is a good one. I suppose we will find out tonight. And also about America and the wedding.
We are near the end of Turkish ep #41 and I'll guess we will end with the end of that episode. The Turkish second season ended with #48 so there's a lot more drama. I think it will be back, but this is getting so good, I don't know if I can wait!
Ye Gods! What else will these writers inflict on our heroine? I can't even imagine reaching the stage of grandmother (which I have) and discovering you're pregnant. They really rubbed it in with the scenes of Evren playing with a little boy, looking like a candidate for Father of the Year. I think she really is pregnant, and I wish they hadn't gone there.
I was confused about the scene with Cagla doing "something" to a woman's face until the big reveal. I've never had any "work" done, and it probably shows! So not only is Tugra in the process of robbing the hospital blind, he's also a batterer of women. Can they resolve any of this tonight? Or will we have to await Telemundo's finishing off the one starting Monday to see how things turn out?
Turkish courtship and marriage customs still confuse me after having seen at least a half dozen. Apparently Evren's proposal on the roof wasn't enough. Now there's a ceremony with the whole family involved. Poor Bahar. She probably was wanting to reserve the option to abort and maybe talk Evren down a bit from his giddy enthusiasm. But, no, Efsun walks into "the only bar in Istanbul" and hears the news from Timur, who heard it from one of the staff, can't remember which one.
The last couple of weeks Aziz Uras has been quite annoying. He was one of my faves when the dizi began. Hearing about his mother's pregnancy caused a look of such horror that I'm bracing myself for an outburst tonight.
I haven't quite gotten all the way onboard with the Efsun redemption tour. She might have just thought everyone knew, or she might have wanted to drop a bomb and get in one more dig at the woman she's feared has supplanted her in Seren's affections.
Kat, thanks for clarifying Tugra's motivation for getting Timur out and Rengin in as Chief Medical Officer. OTOH, considering what Timur did to ruin Cem's big night, I won't feel sad if he's ousted. And he only got the job by threatening Evren with that video of Cem pocketing the bracelet so Evren would say he didn't want it.
Dondi, I know. The drama is great. I've watched a few of the future episodes but didn't understand anything but names so I can't give spoilers even if I wanted to. We need an off caray caray way to discuss this, lol. I'm really keeping the transplant story front and center in my critique as my sister in law has a full transplant 2 years ago. She has an alarm to take her pills at the same time every day. We rarely see Bahar take her pill cocktail!
I’m still processing. What the heck was all that? Why does Bahar decide no? Was it what Timur said? Was it her reflecting on how happy relationships don’t turn out? Was is the pregnancy disappointment?
Anyway, we do like us a boda at the end of a series and we got one at least, but not the one we were expecting. It was terrible to see Evren so crushed. This whole show has been about their romance. Were they writing him out and we wouldn’t see him the next season? Then surprise – there he was at the very end. There’s hope! But it looks like they’ve written Timur out. He’s been a real driver of the story and the actor is amazing. Darn.
I am shocked and disappointed! This is one of the worst things Telemundo has done. They didn’t even finish Turkish ep #41, did a “meses despues”, and skipped 7 Turkish episodes to give us a few minutes of #48, the second season finale! There was a “Fin” at the end, so it seems that’s the end of this for us on Telemundo. I suppose they think we will be satisfied by a fake happy ending.
Maggie, you’re on the right track when you wrote “Was it her [Bahar] reflecting on how happy relationships don’t turn out?” We would have gotten a better explanation if the story continued from there. When we saw her after the time jump, Bahar was no longer an assistant, she is now Bahar Hoca with her own office. It looked like Bahar and Timur were on good terms at the end. We didn’t see that Timur had a heart attack in the wedding venue bathroom while Bahar and Evren were at the wedding table. Maybe that caused Timur to reassess his life and make positive changes.
I already went ahead and I’m going to watch the rest of this dizi in Turkish. I’m not waiting to see if it comes back to Telemundo. Anyway, they ruined it by cutting so many episodes. Unfortunately, I already found out some massive spoilers for season 2 and 3. Don’t worry, I won’t tell.
I’m planning on watching Lejos de Ti/Uzak Şehir. I already saw the first 3 Turkish eps. It’s currently in it’s second season in Türkiye and it still has strong ratings.
Dondi,
Amazing what they did with Bahar! I have gone ahead a bit with the Turkish original and I feel like it’s two different stories.
In the preview for the new one, did I see the actress who played Sancar Efe’s mother in Hija? She looks even meaner!!!
I wonder what Telemundo will do to this one! If you’re watching it, I know you’ll keep us informed of weird cuts and local info. I remember Mardin from Hercai, IIRC.
Babachita
SEVEN episodes? I feel so ripped off. I wonder if this had bad ratings. Certainly we were are glued to it. Or did they plan this from the get-go?
I’m wondering if it’s worth investing time in another one just to have the story cut to pieces. I’m like Bahar - relationships with TNs that start out with us so happy with them don’t work out.
Dondi- did you watch the missing episodes? Can you shed any further light on Bahar’s decision?
Maggie
I thought the voice actors in Bahar were wonderful. Also, I wonder how they do it so that you never have somebody’s lips moving with nothing coming out, or that the dialog never goes past the lip movements. It’s really amazing. How do they do that? How do they match it up so perfectly?
This is just my third dizi so generalizing is dangerous, but what I’ve noticed in these three is a tenderness that you don’t see in the Spanish language TNs. In those they talk incessantly about amor, how it’s the greatest thing there is in life. They are always saying te amo in several different ways, over and over (yawn), un amor TAN grande, sometimes having a character shout it to the general public (just no, don’t do that). They also talk about el amor de mi vida, even very young adults who couldn’t possibly know. It’s like amor is another cast member.
But I find these dizis much more loving. There’s a gentleness and a forgiveness to them. I like too how the men show more affection to one another – their hugs are not the bro hugs we usually get (a quick hug and a couple of back pats) but they really give nice long sincere hugs. And aren’t afraid to cry in front of one another.
Dondi, if you have it in you to recap.the skipped 2 d season episodes I would be so happy. Since Telemundo is the only live station I now get on my TV provider I'm not watching anything but this and KPA on you tube. I bet all us regulars would comment on it and watch the Turkish version as you give us the scoop.
Dondi - ooh yes, what Kat said! Maybe not recaps even, just some highlights so our curiosity Is satisfied.
Do they usually not put FIN when they come to the end of a season? So we’re sure they won’t show another season?
Maggie
