KPA

Schedule looks good. I just wanted to give a heads up while I'm thinking about it. I am going out of town in February, and I will be unable to do recaps on Feb 8 and Feb 15. I will schedule the pages to post before I leave though so they will post as always. Going to escape the cold and soak up the sun in Pueto Vallarta for a bit, I can't wait! :)

Dondi,

How about just doing 2 summaries (yours and mine) those two weeks in February, the 8th and 15th?

Kara Para Ask – Black Money Love – Amor de contrabando
Episode 82 #1

Elif and Omer are having coffee at a jeweler
Elif: I wish we’d gone to my atelier. I could do the design and have it made there.
Omer: For one thing, the groom buys the rings. We’re going to have an ordinary life, right?
Elif: You are stubborn.
Omer: And you are a goat (stubborn).
(He calls to the jeweler) Let’s see the rings. We’ve got no time to waste.
A young jeweler brings out the most popular rings and tells them to have a look at them. Elif looks but doesn’t seem to see one she likes. Omer is watching her closely, so she is trying to look happy.
Elif: I actually wanted something more simple, more elegant. For example, like this. What do you think?
Omer: I see what you’re trying to do, Signorina, but a wedding ring is bought only once. We’re going to wear them until the end of our lives. Choose the one you want.
Elif: Then, don’t interfere and let me choose. Are you happy with that?
Omer: Look, you liked this one right away. It caught your eye, right?
The shop owner, Isman, enters. He apologizes for making them wait.
The younger jeweler tells him he has begun showing them rings.
Isman says to take them all away: Their rings are ready. (Omer looks at Elif, puzzled.) Isman produces a box: Here they are, specially designed.
Elif looks at them: Beautiful, so elegant. Just look at the composition of the stones.
Isman: Master Buran is the best in the Grand Bazaar. I’ve learned everything I know from him. He points to a picture on the wall that shows Master Buran with Omer’s father.
Elif: You really look like him.
Isman: Yes, they are alike in physical appearance and habits. His father had these rings made a day before he passed away. I’ve kept them since that unfortunate day. They brought me good luck. If the lady likes them, I’d like to give these to you as a gift.
Omer is speechless.
Elif begins to smile broadly. [I’m smiling, too. This is a really touching scene.]

Meeting between Tayyar and Husseyn in warehouse building
Tayyar: You didn’t say they were going to get married. You were going to make Elif occupy him to distract him from his work.
Husseyn: I have played many dirty tricks with my brother. I’m not going to stand in the way of his happiness again.
Tayyar: You’re going to. They egg each other on. As long as Elif and Omer are together they’re not going to let this business go.
Husseyn: They will for sure.
Tayyar: Still the same words. What do you think Omer is going to give his future wife as a wedding present? Her father’s murderer? And me? That’s both of us. Look at me Husseyn, you are going to put a stop to this both for yourself and for me. Or else I’ll withdraw my protection.
Husseyn: They love each other. Who am I to stop them? Nobody can separate them. Nobody has the power to do that.
Tayyar: You have the power and you find a way. Look, you managed to stab me, but I still didn’t rat on you. If this wedding happens, I’ll hand over the voice recording where you admit that you killed Ahmet and Sibel as a wedding gift for Omer.

Episode 82 #2
Husseyn: Oh, really? Go ahead and do it. Let me know when you have. I am not defenseless, Tayyar. I will burn you.
Tayyar: Burn, really? But I’m not afraid of anyone. Look, Let’s draw up a profit-loss analysis. Let’s say both of us disclose everything we knew and I went to prison. I’d be inside for a couple of years and then find a way to escape. You, what would you do? You’d lose your family. You’d lose your brother, your children. Omer will cast you out. Now, you decide. Who is losing and who stands to gain from this. However, if you try and stop this marriage….
Tayyar glares at Husseyn and walks away.
Husseyn is lost in serious thought.

Omer and Elif walk hand in hand on the street.
Omer: Elif, you really like it, don’t you? I hope I didn’t impose on you. I couldn’t do anything since Isman insisted.
Elif: Komisar, have you gone nuts? It’s the most elegant design I’ve ever seen in my life. It is also very meaningful. Do you have doubts? Aren’t you happy? Why this face?
Omer: Of course I’m happy, but you know part of me will always be sad I haven’t found my father’s murderer. It’s a pain that stays with me like as wound that won’t heal. Elif, that’s why I became a cop. I’ve worked hard, but I’ve had no success finding the murderer. But don’t worry, I won’t let the same happen to you. I’ll find your dad’s murderer, and I’m going to wear my late father’s ring with pride. I’m grateful to you because you like the ring.
Elif: Didn’t she like it?
Omer: I haven’t been here with Sibel. I bought one from Van. Truth is, I never thought of coming here before.
Elif: Before? For how many girls have you bought a ring. I want to know, Chief.
Omer: I’ve loved only one of them more than my life and that’s you. All I’m trying to do is reach you.

At a barber shop
Husseyn and Omer are getting their hair cut.
Omer tells the barber: Hey, stop working on that old man. He looks more handsome than me, but I’m the groom.
Husseyn chuckles: Don’t worry. Some people get more handsome as they get older and some don’t. You are my brother, so maybe you’ll be as handsome as me when you get older. Who knows?
Omer: That’ll be hard. Who has your charisma?
The barber: Who’s going to tip us, the one who’s handsome or the groom?
Husseyn: The handsome one. I’ll break the groom’s hands if he tries to pay for anything.
Omer: Hey, Husseyn, I know you spent a lot but don’t worry. I’ll take a loan and pay you back. I’ll also pay everything I owe for Demet’s schooling. I’ll also pay your debts to the state, too. I’ll manage, OK?
Husseyn: Don’t be silly, Omer.
Omer: Debt is debt (This was hard to hear, could be “debt is death.”) You have thousands of things to take care of. And you even have a kid, right?
Husseyn: OK, you’ll pay as long as there is someone to receive the money.
Omer: So, how did you have all that money? Be honest. We won the lottery and you didn’t tell me about it?
Husseyn: The lottery, I just won the lottery.
Husseyn seems lost in thought.
Omer: Why are you looking at me like that?
Husseyn: You’re getting emotional just now before your wedding.
The barber gets a phone call. He has to leave for two minutes.
Husseyn: OK, when I was getting married, I didn’t have anybody to give me advice. I had no mother or father. Nor do you. (This is confusing because Elvan is still alive and presumably their father was alive when Husseyn married.) But I am here for you. If you let me, I’m going to say a few words.

Episode 82 #3
Omer: I’m listening.
Husseyn: Now that you’re getting married, you’ll have kids. I’ve experienced being a policeman as a husband and as a father. It’s difficult, very difficult. You’ll see that. You realize that you are neglecting your family while you’re busy with your duties. I forgot, but you must not! Or else you’ll say I could have been there when my son took his first step. You’ll say I wish I could have been there when my daughter first said, Dad. You’ll say that I wish I stood beside my wife. You should rather say my family comes first. You can always find a job. But the family and the time they will never come back. Hug your wife often. Raise your children in the way that you want them to be. Build a good family first. (He reaches over to Omer and takes his hand.) I’d die for you. You are my life. You know this, don’t you?
Omer, very impactado: You’ll always be my brother.
Omer gives Husseyn the respectful kiss followed by the forehead, and Husseyn reaches out and kisses Omer’s head. Husseyn is fighting back tears, while Omer is grinning.
The barber returns.

In Tayyar’s O.R.
We see Tayyar on a bed looking more vulnerable than usual.
Tayyar: Will the prolonged use of these kinds of drugs cause any kind of problems?
Doctor: Nothing will happen. Don’t worry.
Tayyar: I trust you. Look, two Dundars are lying in front of you. Work your magic for us.
Doctor: Should we get started?
Tayyar gets an injection and watches Fatih, who is already under anesthesia. We see Tayyar’s eyes slowly close.

Back at the Denizer mansion.
The door chime rings. Elif goes downstairs to open the door. It is Omer with his whole family, all dressed up bearing flowers.
Omer greets Elif. Hulya takes the flowers. Omer: You’re so beautiful.
We hear Elvan greet everyone: Good evening.
Nedret greets everyone as they enter the living room.
Omer asks Nedret: How are you?
Nedret: Mr. Groom, welcome. Come, sit next to me.
Omer: My pleasure.
Nedret is seated between Omer and his mother.
Nilufer is going to take the flowers and gift away, but Nedret tells her to bring it back and put it on the table.
Nedret: Don’t open it. We still haven’t given the girl.
Melike and Omer look a little apprehensive at this comment.
Nedret: It’s wrong to open it before we’ve given the girl away. According to tradition.
Nilufer: That’s very interesting.
Nedret: Hah, a bit of tradition, bit of conversation, and a bit of reality, isn’t it? (This line will be repeated later.)
Elvan is now concerned. Elif looks taken aback. Nedret chuckles.
Melike: It is so. My mother also pays great respect to the traditions. Mother, please give me that bag.
Elvan: What are you doing, Melike?
Husseyn now looks alarmed.
Melike: I’m taking your presents out. The bag was about to explode on our way here.

Episode 82 #4
Omer is looking unsure of where this is all going.
Elvan shuts her mouth with a frown.
Melike: It’s in accordance with the traditions of Malatya.
Elif and Omer share a resigned look.
Nedret looks at everyone with those big eyes!
Elvan: What did you do, Melike?
Asli is also making a concerned face.
Nedret: Thank you so much. You’ve gone to so much trouble.
Melike: What trouble? We brought the most beautiful one for Elif.
Elif looks at Omer very seriously. He is sort of smiling.
Nedret thanks them again: So, how are you? We don’t see each other very often.
Husseyn has a very serious face (does he know he paid for all this?). Then he sees a photo of Ahmet on display.
Elvan tells Nedret they are fine, thank you, and that she hopes Nedret is doing well, too.
Nedret: I’m doing fine, thank you. Mr. Husseyn, how are you?
He manages a smile: We are fine. Work under pressure, that’s all.
Nedret: May Allah give you health.
Husseyn continues to stare at Ahmet’s picture.
Nedret: And how is our groom?
Omer: Honestly, I’m excited.
Nedret laughs with him: Of course, it’s normal.
Nedret: My girl, please tell them to bring the food to the table.
There’s a brief pause, and then Bahar realizes she is “my girl,” and gets up to do Nedret’s bidding.
Melike tells Demet to help, also.
Husseyn continues to be transfixed by that picture of Ahmet (guilty conscience, no doubt). He finally turns his eyes away: Omer, move up, let’s change seats. (He must be trying to avoid seeing the picture anymore.)
Omer and Elif are surprised at this. She offers Husseyn a soft pillow for his back if he’s not comfortable. Husseyn: Oh, no. It’s not because of that. I just wanted to set next to Ms. Nedret. This surprises Elvan and delights Nedret.
Hasan runs in the room, knocking over some sculptures or figurines (some may have broken) and this makes Asli cry out: Stop, child, be careful.
Elif: Asli, OK, it’s nothing. He got scared, too.
Husseyn calls Hasan to sit with him.
Nedret: My dear Zerrin loved these sculptures. I don’t know where she bought them, but it’s from somewhere in Europe. Goodness knows how much she paid. How could she know if it’s expensive or cheap? But at least the girls have the memories.
Elvan: He has to be careful, don’t you, my dear?
Hasan nods in assent.
Elif and Omer seem at a loss for a way to get things back on track.
Elif: Auntie, shall we go through to the kitchen?
Nedret: Of course, my girl.
Nedret to Elvan: She must be excited! (She laughs hard, more of a guffaw!) She’s afraid that something bad will happen. I’ll be back in two minutes.
Nedret closes the door so she can talk to Elif.

Episode 82 #5
Elif: Auntie, what are those?
Nedret: What do you mean?
Elif: What are all those golden things? Was that you who wanted it and justified it by saying that it’s a tradition. Don’t you know their financial position?
Nedret: Girl, what do you mean how can I do such a thing? How come? They wanted it themselves and they bought it.
Elif: OK, then how do they know about the traditions of Malatya?
Nedret: Ahhh, (like she just figured it out.) This Elvan is a very nice lady. She asked me about the engagement customs in Malatya and I told her about the 7 meter gold chain and a bracelet. I had absolutely no idea That they were actually going to buy them [what a liar!].
Elvan: Heaven knows how much debt they’ve gotten themselves into to buy these. Look, I cannot accept these gifts. Please, just tell them. Tell them in a gentle way.
Nedret: It would be unkind my girl. (She reaches out with both hands to hold Elif’s head and calls her a little lamb.) Why are you getting sad about everything? Please smile for me. Elif finally smiles and they hug.
Nedret: My dearest girl.
We see that Elif still looks very troubled.

At Pelin’s home
Pelin goes to answer the front door. Her hair is curled, she is wearing makeup, and she looks very nice. It’s Arda, similarly dressed up.
She thinks she must not look nice because Arda seems subdued.
Pelin: What’s the matter? (She is showing insecurity here, probably after the unpleasant encounter earlier with Cigdem) Don’t I look nice? I don’t, right? I’ve told the hairdresser so many times not to overdo my hair.
Arda: Leave your hair. You look very beautiful.
Pelin: What happened, then? Something bad has happened? Arda, what’s the matter?
Arda: I came across Ali as I was leaving the station. He said that someone from our section will be appointed in a mass post.
Pelin: Who? Don’t say it’s Ipek.
Arda nods: Ipek. Ipek is joining our department. An atomic bomb has just dropped right in the heart of our group.
Now Pelin looks as subdued as Arda.

Back at the Denizer mansion
Lots of activity in the kitchen with Hulya, Elif, Asli, and Nilufer.
Elif: The no sugar coffee is ready.
Asli: Why don’t you put Omer’s cup right in front so he’ll be obliged to take it.
[This is a custom where the bride to be prepares coffee for her fiancé and it’s full of salt or something bitter. The suitor, of course, has to look delighted with his fiancée’s culinary skills. I digress here, but it’s fun to compare/contrast the urban wealthier customs with those of the more humble or rural families. The sophisticated apparently keep a few of the customs (the doctored coffee, for example), but disdain things like removing shoes upon entry.] Elif and Nilufer seem surprised at this, probably because Asli isn’t one for older customs). Asli tells them their mother put the salt and pepper in Taner’s drink when they became engaged.
Asli: The groom drinks the coffee, he passes the exam and takes the girl. A bit of tradition, a bit of conversation, a bit of fun, isn’t it? (This is the same line her aunt used earlier.)
The three girls smile at this.

Episode 82 #6
Elif: Asli, I can’t. He already doesn’t like coffee.
Asli: You don’t have the heart to do this. We are not poisoning him. Hulya, OK.
Elif is still protesting.
Nilufer: He’s not going to die. We’re just having some fun.
Demet is watching this interchange closely
Elif: Asli, no. He doesn’t like coffee. No!
Asli: What do you mean by no? I’ll put it in no matter what you do. You’ll be in on this with us.
Demet has now wandered off, stealthily, to another part of the house.
Elif: You are mean. (The sisters laugh at this.) Really, you are so mean.
Asli: By the way, I’ll take Komisar Columbo’s photo. I cannot miss the moment.
Nilufer laughs as Asli adds some more salt and pepper to the coffee cup.
Elif: That’s quite enough.

Back in the living room, Husseyn is smiling and talking about being a policeman.
Husseyn: Of course, yes, we have a difficult profession. We risk our lives in order to protect people. That’s our job.
Melike looks on in pride at this: It’s difficult. Every morning we say goodbye as though it could be the last time.
Omer raises his [those wonderful, expressive] brows at her, acknowledging this part of the job.
Nedret: You are right my dear. (To Omer) I suppose, you also experienced an unfortunate accident. Elif told me you were shot.
Omer: An unfortunate situation.
Nedret: Elif was distraught, did you know? It was very difficult for her. She’s been brought up in the very best way. She studied in Italy, lived in Italy. She’s not used to this.
Omer and Elvan looked very concerned at this. Nedret took advantage of Elif being out of the room for this sobering information.
Nedret: Whatever, not everybody has to be a rocket scientist. (We see Husseyn looking at Nedret with a frown at this condescending remark.) You have a very honorable profession. Very honorable. May Allah protect you. However, (Nedret continues throwing ice on this joyous occasion) I wouldn’t be sad if you could take the reward for it. I really hope my delicate Elif copes with being the wife of a policeman.
Omer and Elvan look very concerned. Elvan is giving Nedret an Elvan-style (always polite) version of a side-eye.
Elvan: It’s difficult, indeed.
Husseyn’s frown is growing.
Upstairs we see Demet trying on things. She goes through jewelry, clothing. She no longer looks dazed but very driven, almost like a cat burglar, no wasted steps. However, Filiz (Nedret’s assistant) is collecting trash and sees this.
Back with Nedret: When my husband passed away, I inherited the business, you see. Unfortunately, you can’t just trust anybody who comes to you. I’ve raised a couple of children. You know, we have territories (properties?). All this buying and selling the harvest, etc. (Melike is rolling her eyes a bit at this long-winded story.) Meanwhile my husband got conned by a man and he bought two hotels. These two hotels also collapsed on me. Now it’s going very well thank Allah. We don’t have a problem. But it’s all very tiring. We also have the farm on top of this, so my life passes this way, by running here and there.
Hasan: Are there horses on the farm?
Nedret: Of course there are, my dear. I’ll let you ride one day. (Hasan beams.)
Filiz enters the room and whispers to Nedret.
Nedret: Oh, OK. I’m terribly sorry about this. These girls can’t survive without me. Please excuse me for two minutes. (She leaves, probably to catch Demet red-handed.)

Episode 82 #7
Hasan, always hungry, takes sweets from a jar. Melike tells him to stop it.
Melike: It might be an antique or something. Don’t get me into trouble.
Hasan, speaking with a mouth full of chocolate: it’s very beautiful.
Husseyn: Leave it, come here.
Elvan: Shhhhhh.
Omer: OK.
Hasan walks out of the room. The Demir family looks at one another very uncomfortably.
Upstairs, Demet is trying on a hat. She doesn’t see Nedret and Filiz come in behind her.
Nedret: What are you looking for my dear?
Filiz shakes her head at Demet. Demet searches for words.

We see Arda and Pelin leaving her place.
Arda: How are we going to tell Omer about this? We have to talk. (So, they are dressed up to go to Elif and Omer’s party.)
Pelin disagrees: No, we can’t do it this evening. Tomorrow we’ll find a way. There must be a way. She won’t arrive for like another week or so.
Arda: Pelin, if they arrive before we’ve told Omer, he’ll cut us into pieces. He is so unlucky. Look what happened to him. He has just found order in his life.
Just as they get to Arda’s car, a car door slams and someone calls out: Good evening. [my first thought was that this is who they are talking about, but, no, even worse, it’s Arda’s ex, Cigdem!]
Arda: Cigdem. What are you doing here?

Back at the Denizer mansion
The Demirs are still in the living room, Nedret and Filiz are upstairs with Demet, and the sisters are in the kitchen.
Nedret comes out and asks Melike to follow her for a second.
Melike: What, do you need help with the coffee?
Nedret: My girls are doing their duties just fine.
[I’m noticing more and more that Nedret is stepping into the void left by the deaths of Ahmet and Zerrin, taking a parental position for “her girls.” Aren’t they too old to need a parent?]
Nedret: I wanted to talk to you about your girl.
Melike looks at Husseyn: What could be the matter? I hope she didn’t ruin anything.
Hasan: Has my sister broken something?
Husseyn: Don’t talk so much.
The mood of the Demirs is getting more and more somber. Omer is looking less like a happy fiancé.
Demet is crying as Melike follows Nedret into the upstairs room. Filiz is not impressed with the tears. Melike sees the pile of things on the table in front of Demet.
Melike: Demet, what have you done? (She repeats this several times.)
Nedret: OK, enough. Don’t punish her too much. I understand. We have also experienced poverty. Not everybody’s born wealthy. Not everybody has such luck. She’s so young. She saw this fortune and she realized her own poverty. (Nedret tells this with great dramatic effect.) But, robbery is a crime. Also, it’s a sin.
Just at that time, in walks Husseyn who yells: Demet!!!
Down in the kitchen, the three sisters are ready to take the coffee tray out to the party, not knowing all the drama that has taken place.
They hear Husseyn yell: Demet, what did you do?
Elif puts down the tray and they return to the living room. Elif: What’s going on?

Back outside Pelin’s house:
Cigdem: Is she prettier than me? Huh? Look at this. Wear as much makeup as you like. You’re bad inside. You’re a dirty husband stealer.
Arda stops Pelin from leaving by taking her hand. He addresses his ex: Cigdem, stop talking nonsense.
Cigdem: Am I talking nonsense? Look at you. Where are you going? To go and have fun?
Arda: Cigdem!
Pelin: Arda, OK, calm down, please.
Arda to Cigdem: Don’t be impertinent.
Cigdem: The really impertinent one is right there.
Arda: Walk, Pelin, we’re not obliged to listen to this.
Cigdem continues to yell as Arda helps Pelin into the car.
She finally gets their attention: I’m carrying your baby. I am pregnant. I’m carrying your child.
Pelin is horrified. Arda is speechless.

Back at the Denizer mansion. They Demirs and the Denizer sisters are now in the room where Demet is with all her “loot.”
Melike: Allah Allah, what have we done wrong? Why are we going through all these things? It’s so unfair. What are we being punished for?
Nedret: Oh my goodness, I was trying to sort this out with her mother, but now everybody is unhappy.
Demet: I apologize.
Husseyn: Don’t you dare speak!
Demt: Dad, please.
She gets up and goes to Husseyn, who in a fury, raises his hand and hits her. Elvan is horrified.
Husseyn: Don’t you ever talk back to me. Not like that you don’t. He goes to hit her again, but Omer stops him.
Omer: What are you doing, man?
Husseyn calms down: OK. I’m calm. OK, stop. Come, we’ll have a talk. He grabs her arm.
Nedret butts in: No, no, no, she’s still a child.
Elvan is trying to calm them down.
Nedret continues: Besides, it’s Omer and Elif’s special day. Come on, please.
Elvan: Ms. Nedret is right. We’ll talk about this at home.
Nedret: Let’s go downstairs together. Let’s talk a bit. Come on.
She takes Husseyn and guides him back to the living room.
Omer: I’ll come as well.
Husseyn lifts his hand to Omer: You stay here.
Melike: Oh, Demet! What did you do?
Asli takes Melike to help her spruce up after so much crying.
Demet is left with Elvan (who is hugging her), Omer and Elif.
Demet to Elif: I sincerely apologize Elif.
Elif: Demet, if you had asked me, I would have given them all to you as a gift. There was no need for you to do such a thing. All of us are upset now.
Demet: Uncle, please forgive me.
There is silence. Omer turns away.
Elvan: Elif, my girl, I don’t know what to say to you. I really don’t. She and Demet leave.
Omer and Elif look at one another, touching, and they hug.

At Tayyar’s E.R.
There is a cuckoo clock on the wall, an odd detail!
We see solution dripping and a monitor. Fatih awakens. He can see the other bed. He is uncomfortable. He checks under his gown to see the scar. He starts to remove the lines.

Episode 82 #9

In the Denizer kitchen
Omer and Elif are sitting very seriously.
Omer: I don’t understand, Elif. How could Demet do such a thing? My brother aged so much chasing after criminals. The man worked like a dog. He did whatever they wanted. He never missed a thing. He has a right to be harsh with Demet.
Elif: She’s so young. Remember the times when we weren’t able to talk properly? Yes, what she’s done is very wrong, but instead of being angry with her we can try to understand her. We really need to try and help her.
Omer: First Fatma while I was proposing and now Demet. Allah knows what your aunt thinks of us.
Elif: She doesn’t think of anything. Don’t look at her appearance. She has a heart of gold, and she likes you a lot. Come on, don’t make your sour face. (Omer still looks unhappy.). Look, if you behave like this, I’ll be even sadder. Come on, we weren’t going to let anything make us sad, especially today. Soon we’re going to be putting those rings on. We’ll be a family. Everything will end believe me.
Omer kisses her forehead.
Omer: I hope so.
They smile and continue holding hands.
He looks down and sees the coffee cups.

Outside, Husseyn and Nedret are out getting some air.
Nedret: Ah, Mr. Husseyn. Teenagers make mistakes. Every one of us did. Don’t be so angry.
Husseyn: You said something inside. The poor are put in a difficult situation in front of the rich. Truly Omer has a difficult path ahead of him. Who is Omer and who is Elif, right? My mother always said when two people get married, it’s not only them who get married but the whole family, too. First minute, first goal. (I think that is what he said. It’s not a saying I’m familiar with.)
Nedret: Mr. Husseyn, we are two separate families with two different ways of life and traditions. We are going to have to get used to each other.
Husseyn: What you’re saying doesn’t match with what you’re thinking, Ms. Nedret.
Nedret: What are you talking about, for Heaven’s sake?
Husseyn: What I mean is you would prefer not to have any of us.
Nedret: Huh? (She laughs). Where did you get this idea from, I don’t understand?
Husseyn: The list you gave my mother. Meters of (gold) string, this and that. Who are we? You clearly see what you want. You did this on purpose. I’m right, Ms. Nedret. Since the beginning of the evening there’s been an arrogance and the pride in your speech, and you have done this on purpose. Oh, praise be, you like to humiliate, but I’m not stupid. I’m a connoisseur of human nature. It’s my profession. The way I see it, you don’t want Omer and Elif to get married.
Nedret: What exactly would you like me to say, Mr. Husseyn?
Husseyn: What I mean is, I don’t want this marriage, you don’t want it either. We’re on the same side. Let’s put a stop to this together.
They stare at each other for a long time.
Nedret: What exactly do you mean, Mr. Husseyn? What do you mean, let’s put a stop to this?
Husseyn: Let’s stop pretending. You also don’t want to see Omer as a groom.
Nedret: Talk straight to me, what on Earth do you mean by this? What kind of trickery is this?
Husseyn: Are you going to teach me Turkish now? Stop the charade. Neither of us wants this. Let’s talk honestly, Ms. Nedret.
Nedret: How do you think like that? It doesn’t matter to me. They suit each other perfectly. They look really happy.
Husseyn: Everything will be so fine and easy if these things were out in the open, but it’s not like that. No need to try to fool me.
Nedret: I don’t think we’re going to get on, Mr. Husseyn. The best thing here is for me to call Omer and Elif and tell them our problem. You tell them that you don’t want this in a clear honest way. You’ll tell them that you don’t want them to get married. OK?

Babachita: Lots of twists & turns.

Thanks, Babachita!

This was a very interesting episode... Auntie Nedret is a tough nut to crack! She's team Nedret and no one else!! I can't believe Elif is actually snowed! Heart of gold??? Really? Where?

I liked Melike's attitude here. She needed to expose the things she did.

We all knew Cigdem was going to play the pregnancy card but the question is will Arda buy it? I'm thinking Pelo will... at least they were happy for like 3 seconds.

I really want to meet this Ipek person!

I forgot to mention I am surprised Fatih is still alive!!! Why did I think Tayyar was going to take his kidney and kill him? He really his Tayyar's weak spot for whatever reason.

KPA

After a hiatus I'm watching again but I'm only on #73 currently. I'll whittle away at a few more this weekend provided we don't lose power due to the predicted ice storm. Fortunately things don't look quite so dire as a couple of days ago. I found some Spanish episodes with cc so I'm happy. I was watching the 2 plus hour versions so the numbers didn't coincide o listened to a few minutes of an English version and that I couldn't handle. Omar needs to have the dubbed voice I'm used to!

Great recap as usual, Babachita. Loved all the asides.

Nedret is an extremely insensitive person. She seems to enjoy toying with people.

I wonder what attracted Arda to Cigdem for him to marry her.

Fatih walking around town immediately after losing a kidney is totally ridiculous. Beanie time!

It’s very hard for me to watch this in Spanish or English. I watch in Turkish and check back to the shorter episodes to see where they begin and end. Nothing can match Engin’s voice and I’d rather get the translations from the original.

Kat, it’s good to see you here. How are you doing with your hip? Good luck with the storm. We are going to get hit big in NY, too. I hope everyone affected by this storm stays safe.

#83 part 1

Omer goes in for a kiss in the kitchen. Elif stops him because someone might see. Omer makes his case—aren’t we getting married? When are we finally going to be alone? When will we have our own life? Be patient, she replies, besides, someone still owes me a vacation. Omer promises, we will go. But we can’t go on vacation without a proper plan. A little kiss beforehand wouldn’t be bad. Elif says no. Omer grudgingly says, okay… no mischief. They smile at each other and they kiss, followed by loving gazes.

Cigdem issues an ultimatum—the child or this woman. Stunned silence. Cigdem demands an answer. Arda slams the car door. Cigdem continues, despite all the embarrassment, I came here trying to prevent my child from being fatherless. My conscience is clear, the rest is up to you… and she looks at Pelo… and to you. Poor Pelo looks sick.

Arda stares daggers at Cigdem. She’s not finished yet. She says Arda and Pelo have no morals. May God deal with you both as He sees fit. My baby is enough for me. Cigdem walks away and so does Pelo. Arda asks Pelo, where are you going? She’s going home. What am I going to do? What am I going to say? If there’s a child involved, I can’t be there. I can’t take an innocent baby’s father away. We are done if Cigdem is telling the truth. Pelo goes into her house, leaving Arda confused and angry.

Back to Nedret and Huseyin. Huseyin sort of calls her bluff. If you approved of Omer and Elif, you would have already called Elif and ratted me out. But we’re still talking, why? Because we are both suffering the same problem, he says. Hasan comes out and interrupts. Mom says it’s cold outside. Don’t catch a cold. Huseyin shouts at him to go back inside. Nedret stares at Huseyin.

Demet is sobbing in a bathroom. Melike enters. Why are you still crying? Wash your face. Melike continues to scold. Pull yourself together. Demet washes up but continues to cry. Melike says Demet will have to make this up with her father. He won’t even let her out of the house now. They leave the bathroom.

Omer and Elif return to the living room. Omer sees Huseyin and Nedret outside and asks what’s going on. Has Huseyin calmed down? Elvan doesn’t know.

Demet apologizes to Elif. I ruined everything, she cries, please forgive me. Elif hugs the girl. Meanwhile, Omer’s got a wary eye on the two outside.

Huseyin asks Nedret, what love are you talking about? I’ve seen so many loves that were destroyed with just one word. It will be the same if Omer and Elif get married. Nedret asks, what will happen? They are from different worlds, Huseyin replies, this will not work. Omer will come and go here and one day you will be bother by what he does. You’ll hit him with a word and Elif will be upset. Elif will say something to Omer and everyone will be upset. They will think, “did we do the right thing?” Let’s end this now before they get hurt.

I really don’t understand, Nedret says, weren’t you the one singing at Elif’s party 2 days ago? So what happened? Did something fall on your head? Okay, joke around, Huseyin answers, you’ll agree with me when you realize they are not right for each other. You need to stop this now if you really love your niece.

Omer’s curiosity is getting to him. He goes to the front door and watches his bro with Elif’s aunt.

Nedret says, I also worry about the things you’ve said, but this doesn’t sit well with me. I’m getting very angry. Nedret thinks Huseyin should leave now. Huseyin stops her, what we talked about stays here, okay? Don’t tell Omer and Elif. Nedret laughs in Huseyin’s face. Your face turned to ash. You were so strong a moment ago. What happened? Huseyin gulps.

#83 part 2

Omer can’t resist any longer and comes outside. Everyone’s inside waiting for you. It’s cold out here. We’re coming, Nedret replies. Huso gives Nedret a warning look. [what will she do?] They go inside.

Dr Batur checks Tayyar. Pinar questions why the operation happened here instead of the hospital. Tayyar’s orders, he answers. Don’t be concerned we thought of everything. The operation was a success and he’s stable. Pinar asks, when will he wake up? Then she asks, how is the other person? The one who donated the kidney. Batur says he’s alive and he will check on him soon. Pinar says she would like to see him and thank him for what he did. Do we know this person? Batur looks uneasy.

Fatih is out of his room. He is in pain and very unsteady but makes his way towards the exit. A henchie comes down the stairs. Fatih hides. He sees the man drop keys and pick them up. The man does not see Fatih.

At the Denizers: The sweets are handed out. Elvan motions at Huso to start. He begins, the reason for our visit is clear. The children have met and like each other. Our duty, as you know, is to ask for your daughter Elif’s hand for our son Omer, in accordance with Allah’s command and the Prophet’s word.

Nedret replies, you know how difficult these things used to be. Marriages, bride exchanges… it’s very arduous. This is not in line with proper etiquette. You haven’t given me any time to examine Mr. Omer at all. I’ll just have to trust you. Omer is a very brave police officer as I understand. When things are at stake, he can throw himself into the line of fire. But my Elif is very precious to me, and I don’t want her to spend her life in fear. Do you understand what I’m saying?

Things don’t look good for Omer. The family exchanges worried looks. Omer speaks up. You can be sure I will never take a single step without thinking of Elif. That’s a very nice thing to say, Nedret replies. But I’m wondering if the young ones have thought of where they are going to live after they get married. This is very important to us as well.

Omer is worried. Everyone is silent. Nedret says, so this hasn’t been considered. No preparations have been made. Ah, youngsters… Melike puts her 2 cents in—and sometimes they expect things from the elders. Of course, you will find a way. For example, isn’t this a huge house? We could even live here happily. Melike laughs. Asli looks horrified. So does Elvan. Huso scowls. Elif is stunned. Poor Omer.

Awkward silence. Huseyin steps in, both Elif and Omer have their own careers and earn their own money so they are the ones to decide about this. As far as we are concerned, we are in agreement about that. Nedret chuckles, why are you so tense, Huseyin bey? I was just joking.

Asli jumps in—Ah, hala, are you going to give your daughter or not? Tell me. They are looking between you and Huseyin bey like they are watching a tennis match. Nedret chuckles again. people want to get married to a girl but only one can have her. I don’t know if Omer is the one for my Elif. I hope it will be fine for them. But I know something very well. I have learned this over many years. If families start interfering too much, unrest eventually arises. Peace comes from the family, right Huseyin bey? What do you think about this marriage? Tell us honestly so we can all hear. He fumbles for an answer. Well, we came here, it’s obvious what else can we think?

kpa
#83 part 3

Asli turns to Elif, I think auntie won’t give you away. Don’t talk like that, Elif replies. Nedret admits, I know I talk too much. I extended it a bit to be polite. [polite?] But may it be for the best. The children like each other. I don’t have more to say. I give the girl! Hayırlı olsun! Applause. Nedret states, what are you all sitting for? Get up, there’s a proper way. Kiss our hands. Elif and Omer comply. Huseyin looks crushed.

The search is on for Fatih. The order is to kill on site. Wow, I don’t know how Fatih managed to climb high in a tree in his condition. A couple of drops of blood almost give him away.

Elvan tells Nedret they will have a simple wedding if that’s what the children choose. Nedret doesn’t agree. She has no children of her own and would like to enjoy her niece’s happy day. We will have a large wedding, she declares. If I call people from Malatya, at least 500 will come. Elvan is stunned. Of course you are right, she manages to reply, I’m not thinking clearly.

Huseyin scolds Melike for embarrassing him. Was it that bad, Melike answers, that woman made us tense after what happened with Demet. So we laughed a little. How do you know, maybe we can move in here.

Asli approaches the happy couple. How are the lovers? I can’t lie, Omer says, I thought Nedret wouldn’t give Elif. Asli answers, this was her on a very good day. You’re going to struggle with her. Elif tells Omer, don’t worry. The sisters laugh.

The search for Fatih continues. One of the men find a drop of blood. They look up in the tree. No one is there. Fatih has made it to a path, and a truck slowly drives by. Looks like he got in the back.

Tayyar is still asleep. Pinar asks Batur if he will be okay. Batur looks a bit concerned but thinks Tayyar will be alright. A henchie enters and asks to speak with Batur. They step out of the room but are still within earshot of Pinar. Batur asks the man, did you find him yet? No. Doc says you have to find him or he will die. Henchie answers, his death will be fine with me, but we can’t find him anywhere.

Pinar appears. The donor you said I wouldn’t know, was that Fatih, Tayyar’s son? Did you get the kidney from him? Silence gives Pinar her answer.

Back to the engagement. Nedret says, I know you want me to put the rings on as the eldest here, but I have a request… Huseyin bey? From what I understand you are not only Omer’s older brother, but you’ve also taken his father’s place, God rest his soul. I think it would be appropriate for you to place the rings. Huseyin would rather Nedret do it. Melike encourages her husband. How nice of Nedret to offer. [Nedret is really sticking it to Huso.]

Everyone is looking at Huseyin. He’s very nervous and asks his mom, who gets the ring first. The bride. His hands shake as he places the rings. He takes the scissors and says, Elif is our daughter. Omer is our dear. May Allah make them happy and blessed. He cuts the ribbon. Applause. Melike calls out, what are you waiting for? Kiss each other! Hugs and kisses on the cheek for Elmer. More hand kissing. Omer hugs his brother and thanks him. Huseyin stares at Nedret over Omer’s shoulder. She looks smug.

Hulya has a phone in her hand it rings. It’s Fatih calling from a shop. The clerk thinks he should call an ambulance for Fatih. Fatih makes him put the phone down. Hulya brings the phone to Nilu. Nilu looks at the phone and doesn’t answer. This gets Omer’s attention. It gets Nedret’s too, and she tells Nilu to turn off the phone.

Fatih doesn’t hang up. The clerk is worried the boss will come. He doesn’t want any trouble.

#83 part 4

Nilu hurries outside. She answers. Hello my love, Fatih says, I need you. You shouldn’t have called, she replies. Don’t get angry, come pick me up from Sarayburnu. I’m by the wall. Come in an hour. It’s impossible, she answers, I have to go. Don’t hang up, Fatih tells her, I can’t trust anyone but you. What happened, she asks, why does your voice sound like this? I’m injured, girl, I’m dying, he says.

Nilu is panicked, who did this to you? I did it to myself, Fatih says, I listened to the voice of the idiot inside me again. Nilu explains, Elif and Omer exchanged rings, everyone’s inside. How can I come? Omer is watching intently from inside. Fatih continues, I understand, my love. I just wanted to see you one last time before I die. But what can we do? I hurt you so much, I caused you so much pain. But I’ve never loved anyone in this world as much as I love you. If you feel like this too, come to me. Don’t get Omer or Elif involved.

I don’t know how I can do this, Nilu says. Fatih says, I’ll wait for you until morning. I don’t know if you’ll find me dead or alive. We’ll see if you love me or if you don’t. He hangs up.

Omer comes outside. Who were you talking too? We don’t get an immediate answer.

Fatih thanks the clerk. The clerk asks him to leave so he can clean up. You seem like a nice guy, Fatih says, I need one last thing. I don’t have any money. Can you help me so I can get home? Are you taking advantage of our humanity, the clerk replies, are you eyeing what’s in my pocket? Please go. Fatih says he will give back what he took tenfold. The clerk won’t give him anything and threatens to call the cops. Fatih breaks a bottle and threatens the clerk. Give me all the money in your pocket. Fatih takes the money and says, this money is my debt to you. He leaves.

Nilu tells Omer she was talking to a friend from France. I wanted to talk outside because my French is not so good and he speaks so fast. Melike calls from the door—it’s time to give the jewelry to the bride. Omer goes inside. Nilu is upset.

Elvan places several gold bracelets on Elif. Melike has a big one from her and Huseyin. Elif says this wasn’t necessary. It was, Melike answers, this is tradition. My mom brought me a chest of gold. Melike holds out a box for Omer to give. It’s a long chain of gold. Melike helps Omer with it. He wraps it around Elif. Elvan says, God grant you even more. Nedret says, amen. Amen, amen, my dear mother, Omer says. I’ve already found the best jewel. Elvan is overcome with emotion.

Nilu talks to Bahar in the kitchen. I need to go, don’t you understand? Elif walks in and asks, where are you going? Nilu says, I have class tomorrow. My absence allowance is ending. She looks at Bahar, as I was telling you, if you want, we can have dinner after school, or you can call me. We’ll see, Bahar answers. Nilu leaves. Elif asks, is there a problem? Bahar thinks Elif has become suspicious of everything.

Bahar says she’s going home. Elif is disappointed, she thought Bahar was going to stay. Are you tired of us? [yes.] How can I be tired of you, Bahar replies, I’m fine, but I think your auntie just doesn’t like me. I get tired from the pressure. It’s better if I go. Elif begs her to stay a little longer. Bahar stays firm and she goes.

Arda follows Cigdem down the street. I don’t understand, he says, when did this happen? We are married, she says, did you forget? Our baby is 4 months old! Arda can’t believe this. How did you not know sooner? Cigdem fires back, I never thought of something like this, my husband leaving me. He asks if she’s seen a doctor. She’s annoyed at all his questions. Are you calling me a liar? You should be ashamed. What kind of man are you?

kpa
#83 part 5

You come and tell me after many months that you are pregnant, Arda asks, isn’t it normal for me to be suspicious? Don’t believe it if you don’t want to, Cigdem replies, I will give birth to my child and look after it myself. You’ll never see it. All I want is to be sure, he tells her, I’ll come tomorrow morning and we’ll go to a doctor. She says to come in the afternoon. [how will she get out of this now?]

Elif asks to speak with Elvan. She thanks her. We’ve become a burden to you, all this gold and jewels, I feel bad about it. Elvan says, don’t be sad, this is tradition. Elif answers, my auntie told me about these traditions but they’re from the old times. Times have changed now. I don’t want you to spend your money on me. I want to give these back.

Elif starts to take of the gold chain. Elvan stops her. Let them stay as they are. If you do this, it will upset us a lot. It will be a burden on our hearts. Omer and I will be crushed. I don’t want to hear you say something like this again. Omer won’t know. You won’t say anything.

Elif nods. I don’t want to upset you, I’ll never mention this again. But there is more to come. Preparations, things will happen. My aunt likes to be extravagant. Elvan assures her they will sort it out being the elders of the family. Just be happy with Omer. Okay, Elvan Teyze, Elif says. Oh, no more teyze, Elvan replies, Elvan Anne is what you’ll call me now. Children always have to listen to their mothers, right?

Arda bangs on Pelo’s door. Please open the door! She sits inside, devastated. Arda shouts at the window. Pelin, please! Okay, don’t open it, retreat into your shell. People have split the atom, but I can’t split your stubbornness! Pelo opens the door—don’t shout! Then don’t make me shout, Arda replies. He follows her inside.

I followed Cigdem, Arda says, we had a talk. We’ll go to the doctor tomorrow. She might be lying. It won’t be the first time. He sits in front of her and takes her hands in his. Don’t close yourself off to me. Don’t give up on me, please. Pelin answers, oh Arda, I love you, I don’t want to give up on you. I ran away from you all these years. I did it so no one would get hurt. No one got hurt, Arda replies.

That’s right, Pelo says, no one got hurt. If what Cigdem says is true, you’ll be a family and I’ll be left with my disappointments. Nobody got hurt yet! Please, Arda begs, don’t be like this. Pelo shouts, it’s like you constantly blame me for being unfair to you! He pulls her into a hug, and she struggles against him at first.

I won’t blame you, Arda says. It was difficult for me to love you, and I won’t give that up. He strokes her hair. Pelo gives in and puts her arms around Arda. I exist if you exist, he tells her. I laugh if you laugh. If you leave, I cease to exist. He kisses her.

And we are out.

KPA

Thank you Dondi! Wonderful as always!

Once again Pinar doesn't do anything to end the madness while the option is available to her!!! I mean not that she should necessarily kill Tayyar herself - that's murder... but maybe leave while he's incapacitated? Disappear? Maybe just not sit by his bedside like the beloved wife?

I totally agree that Fatih already roaming around town threatening others with broken bottles is ridiculous! He thinks he's dying but he won't go to the hospital still? Why not?

Auntie gives her blessing? Just to screw with Huseyin? Or is she savvy enough to realize Elif wouldn't have been stopped by her saying no? It's a cute (ish) custom asking for permission, but the whole conversation about the 'children' sounds loony when you're talking about a couple closer to 30 than 20 (or are they 30+?).

I think Behar left because she doesn't like being treated like the help which is how Auntie was treating her. I would feel bad for her if she wasn't Behar.

OT

Since I'm so many episodes behind you all get a health and weather update today.

My new hip is wonderful. The other day I did over 12k steps. I've had minimal PT so far as it took 2 weeks to get in for the eval and then now I'm finally on the twice a week schedule starting tomorrow. I have PT at 4 which I think I'll be able to make. Honestly, I'm not sure I need PT as I have friends that are retired PTs and a new choir member I can ask for advice. Tomorrow it is 6 weeks post surgery so the dislocation danger zone is mostly past.

We had some ice overnight, perhaps .25 inches, a big downgrade from the worst case scenario. Fortunately we still have power. We rely on an electric heat pump for heat so we were worried about that, and if our lines go down we would not be a priority to get them back up as we discovered during hurricane Helene.

Here's hoping you all are ok too as a good chunk of the US has been affected by this winter storm.

OT

Kat, wonderful news about your hip! So glad to hear you are healing so well and so quickly!!

I have no idea the actual inches or totals of ice or snow here because I don't watch the news and I haven't looked it up, but it doesn't look too drastic. Still the tempature is very low with the wind chill the 'feels like' temp is going to be in the negatives through tomorrow. I haven't left my apartment since Friday and I'm thinking I won't until Tuesday. My apartment maintenance staff can only work on snow removal for 15 minutes at a time before they have to go inside (for safety due to the cold weather) for breaks, so I am not too hopeful about the snow removal in the apartment driveways before then. I could probably make it out for work on Monday, but with the temps being close to 0 when I would be leaving for work in the morning, I'm not too motivated. That's what PTO is for, right?

KPA 84 part 1 of 4

Things are wrapping up at the engagement party and Omer asks Elif if she’s heard from Pelin. She says no and Omer thinks it’s odd that he also didn’t hear from Arda, they hope everything is fine but Melike makes some cringey comments about Arda and Pelo being jealous of Omer and Elif because their relationship is going well and A+P have drama with Arda’s ex. It’s time to put this night out of its misery even though Auntie makes a hypocritical comment about how they were having such a nice conversation. Huseyin insists it’s getting late and the kids have school tomorrow. Auntie says now that they are family, they will see each other more often and eager Melike invites herself over the very next day since she has no plans! LOL But Aunties says she has some very old friends visiting tomorrow, it’ll have to be another day. Everyone is walking out and Elif gives Demet all the jewelry she tried to steal – insisting though Demet protests. Omer doesn’t like that Elif is rewarding her for bad behavior but Elif is thrilled with how happy Demet seemed and Omer concludes that Elif is going to spoil is niece and nephew, just like I’m going to spoil you she agrees.

After Omer’s family leaves, Auntie makes a comment about hoping Elif will have a happy life and says something about taking off. Darcy wonders if she truly planned to leave or if it was an attention grab as both Elif and Asli insist that Auntie stay forever because she fills the house with so much joy???? Asli says she was afraid Elif would never get married but Omer arrived to save the day! LOL and Auntie suggests they celebrate with some coffee but Nilu begs off saying she’s tired and they will celebrate another day. Asli claims to be exhausted too and heads to bed leaving Elif and Auntie to drink coffee alone.

Nilu isn’t going to bed though, of course! She’s sneaking off to see Fatih and wrangling the car from the driver telling him to some story about how her car needs a mechanic, she’s pays him extra.

Elif assures Auntie that she will love Omer in time while Nilu finds Fatih in the park and learns that Tayyar is in the business of stealing kidneys from his sons. Fatih tells Nilu that Tayyar is the center of the earth and he made him believe he wanted a reunion but he really just wanted a kidney. Nilu wants to take Fatih to a hospital but Fatih says no because Tayyar has eyes everywhere and he’ll find out; he can’t go to a hospital. Nilu wants to take Fatih to Omer! Nilu can’t protect him but Omer can! Fatih says no, that bastard Tayyar has his mother! If Tayyar finds out he is with Omer, he’ll go after his mom! Well then, there’s only one safe place Nilu can think to go… where’s that, Fatih wants to know.

Omer, Huseyin, Melike and Elvan make it home and are all talking about how bitter Auntie is and how it’s impossible to make her smile! Omer thinks they’ll win her over in time and Huseyin jokes about how he’s already taking Elif’s side. Melike offers to win her over personally. They are interrupted by the even more bitter Fatma who reminds us this family has a lot of experience dealing with difficult women! Fatma is her usually unpleasant self and Elvan makes excuses for her as always – Darcy still thinks enabling bad behavior is the worst thing they could do for her!

Nilu takes Fatih to Behar! This seems like a really bad idea to me! But Behar lets them in and seems willing to keep Nilu’s secret, probably so she can take advantage of it. Fatih is bleeding and Behar claims she has a friend who can be trusted but Fatih poo poo’s this idea too! Surely Nilu and Behar can patch him up, just google how to treat a kidney transplant wound, it can’t be that hard! Heck, there’s probably a YouTube how-to video!

KPA 84 part 2 of 4

Pinar is still by Tayyar’s bedside with the doctor hoping he never wakes up… you know she is. It hasn’t worked so far, but hope springs eternal. She asks the doctor if he should’ve woken up by now? He says soon. She looks disappointed! The doctor goes to him and shakes him and damn the devil awakens! His first question: How is Fatih? And the doc gives him the bad news, no one knows, he escaped!

Huseyin goes to bring Omer some tea and finds him trying to move his arm! He’s supposed to leave it in a sling and not move it but he’s trying to force himself into PT (like Kat! 😉) Huseyin isn’t amused but Omer says if he listened to the doctors he would still be in the hospital! Huseyin says if Omer doesn’t put the sling back on and behave, he’ll call the authorities – Elif!! No, no, Omer protests, why would you call her? Let’s have some tea!

Apparently, you CAN learn kidney care on the internet and Nilu sent Behar out to pick up everything they need at the local pharmacy. Fatih offers to buy Behar a new shirt to pay her back for the one he ruined but she says to forget about it? Nilu gets to work but Behar can’t watch as the blood makes her squeamish and Fatih makes a joke about Behar never playing doctor. It’s all fun and flirtation between Nilu and Fatih until it starts to hurt.

Omer hasn’t put the sling back on, maybe he’ll lose the use of his arm? I mean he does have another one. He’s playing with his ring and he texts Elif good night and that soon they’ll be married and she won’t be able to escape from him! Elif doesn’t want to escape from Omer but she does want to escape from that dirty cop she’s having nightmares about!!! Elif dreams about fleeing through an underground maze trying to hide from the bad cop who tormented her when she was under arrest but in the end, he catches her and just as he traps her up against the door and leans in, she wakes up screaming and Auntie is there to console her. Telling her she’s safe and Auntie isn’t going anywhere.

In next morning, Fatih is still alive too! And Nilu is still at Behar’s but she shouldn’t be! She stayed all night worried about him. He wants to make something of that but she needs to hurry home before she’s missed. She tells Behar to take care of him and Behar agrees. As soon as Nilu leaves, Behar lays down the law. Fatih can’t leave or let anyone see him. No phone calls or making anyone mad? (how’s he going to do that if he can’t leave or see anyone or call them?) And Behar can’t go to work since she has to take care of Fatih…. Fatih doesn’t think it’s necessary for Behar to stay but she said she promised Nilu. Behar is going to go make something to eat, does Fatih want anything? He nods. (Behar’s attitude is odd, she seems almost eager to be doing this. Is she attracted to him? She knows who he is and what he’s done? Anyone else still remember the hot bar tender she should’ve distracted herself with?)

The Denizer ladies are getting ready to eat breakfast too Elif and Asli think Nilu is just downstairs preparing for the day so she totally would have gotten away with it but Auntie noticed Nilu hadn’t been home and clues our sisters in. They start discussing what if she’s gone to see Fatih and are surprised to learn Auntie knows all about Fatih Dundar! Auntie even tells Elif that the money for the not-bail was from Fatih, just in time for Nilu to arrive claiming she only left to get them something special for breakfast.

Arda and Pelo arrive for work and Arda tries to get Pelo to talk about the status of their relationship but she won’t (what a surprise). Arda isn’t meeting with Cigdem until after work and Pelo says until they know what’s happening with Cigdem it’s best not to talk about them. Omer arrives still sans-sling and Arda and Pelo decide he probably knows best. They tease him about not knowing the way to his new office in the other division but he says he’s not leaving until they get Faith and Tayyar. He can’t believe he’s actually going on vacation for the first time in his life! They only have 74 (I think) days, what are they going to do in that time? They need to find Fatih and get him to turn on Tayyar but they’ve both disappeared! Pelo says that’s why they called him. They’ve got news about Pinar. Her paternity test results are in…

Pinar is feeding Tayyar soup, I bet she didn’t even poison it. He tells her to be very careful and not leave the house unless absolutely necessary. If anyone asks about him, she’s to tell them that he’s out of the country on business for a few days. He says she saved him so he’s given her his trust but she had better not betray it again or something bad could happen to her again.

Elif and Asli confront Nilu about Auntie’s bombshell and Nilu tries to defend herself by saying Fatih just wanted to help but Elif reminds Nilu that Fatih is their enemy and she doesn’t want to be in debt to him. Elif forbids Nilu to talk to Fatih even by telephone but Nilu says only she can decide that. Elif says no, we will decide for you. Frustrated Nilu says she’s tired of all of them and storms out past everyone including busybody Auntie listening from the hall.

Pinar tells her driver to take her to the doctor in secret. She claims to be feeling ill, he says he will keep her secret.

Elif calls Omer and tells him the news about Nilu and the money, and how she suspects that Nilu saw Fatih last night. Omer tells her to calm down and not worry. Omer hangs up and asks about the officer following Nilu, Murat? Is Murat trustworthy? Nilu is driving to the gym and she notices she is being followed but she cuts through the gym and switches cars with a friend on the backside of the building. There was another blonde I didn’t recognize inside the building (who is that?) that definitely clocked Nilu though.

Pinar arrives at the doctor’s office and finds Omer!!! She isn’t thrilled but he already has her results and now we know, Taner has a child!

Fatih is up and looking human-ish, and trying to self-medicate with alcohol but Behar takes it from him. Next, he wants a shower and Behar allows that but has to walk him to the bathroom and is disappointed when he doesn’t allow her to strip him. She suggests leaving the door halfway open incase he needs help and needs to call for her and he agrees but she uses the opening to creep on him as he undresses himself…. eek.
Pinar and Omer are now sitting out on the pier and Arda and Pelo are nearby. Pinar is devastated thinking her son will be killed when Tayyar finds out he’s Taner’s son.

Elif calls that office and finds out Behar isn’t there, she called in sick.

Tayyar orders his henchie to find where Fatih is.

KPA 84 part 4 of 4

Fatih and Behar are talking and laughing on the couch when Nilu arrives! Fatih says his nurse turned out to be quite fun but both ladies seem uncomfortable with this dynamic. Behar takes off to her room and Fatih tells his princess to sit down and tell him how she managed to get away without anyone knowing. Nilu starts proudly relaying her escape when the doorbell rings bringing Behar back out, alarmed. Did Nilu invite anyone? Nope. Was she followed? Behar goes to the door and it’s Elif! Fatih says get her to leave! Do something! Make something up! Behar opens the door and Elif says she came to make sure Behar was okay since she left the house yesterday and then called in sick. Behar tries to say she just needs to be alone right now but Elif thinks she has a real problem and Elif is going to be there for her. She’s coming in! Wait! Behar switches tactics…. she’s with someone. Yeah, that’s it. She called in so she could get some. Why didn’t you tell me, Elif asks. Cause I thought you’d be mad, Behar says. How can I be mad, Elif says, I want you to be happy. So, Behar is off the hook and she quickly shuts the door and Elif walks away smiling. She almost stops halfway down the hall but then she shakes her head and keeps walking.

Pinar’s luck isn’t as good as she finds out when she tries to take the paternity test results back from Omer. Omer is tired of playing things soft with Pinar. He’s tried to help her many times and she’s refused to help him and now he’s willing to going to take these test results to Tayyar if she doesn’t help him – and he’ll do it without any pity for her! Pinar says he has to understand; Tayyar’ll kill her if she helps him. Omer thinks Tayyar’ll kill her if she doesn’t. There’s a potent standoff moment but Omer doesn’t give in and he gets up and walks away with the paper, Arda and Pelo follow. Several steps later, Pinar calls out Omer!

And there our episode ends.
