A while back, Melina kept telling Tino he had two children, Iker and Lila. That detail kept bothering me and I commented on it several times. I was surprised that she kept omitting Alex as Melina does not exactly seem like someone who forgets anything.
I can only surmise that Melina found out Lila was Alex's mother some time ago and was just waiting to spring it on the family. She is detestable.

I just dumped my recap for last week’s episodes on the previous recap page. I know I couldn’t cover everything (and didn’t understand everything), so please, everyone, fill in blanks, mention things I forgot to add, and please correct me if I misunderstood anything! I still struggle with the el campo slang and dichos.
In episode 39, I loved seeing Kiara get disappointed by Luis’s obvious disinterest in her, and in front of everyone too! That was beautiful, lol.
I am enjoying Luis’s misery, he certainly has it coming. I’m also looking forward to seeing Mercedes having to eat her words. I truly do hope she redeems herself, because she and Pedro had a lovely friendship before everything went downhill.
I hope I can try to get ahead of everything and recap more regularly, but if I am late, I apologize in advance. My schedule is weird. It’s a good thing we only have two weeks left. I’ll miss all my favorite characters, though!
After the kiss Melina tells Tino they’re going to start a new life far away. He says Iker, and she says Iker will go with them. She tells the doctor she knows of a doner that’s a patient in this hospital. She has Rino open his eyes to unlock his phone.
Bill tells the lawyer Lila’s story. He says Tino and Aide can be denounced. Bill wants to do that but the lawyer says only the biological mother can denounce them.
Serena tells Cheno he didn’t care for Poncho and didn’t even know what was going on. He says he’ll change but she says, too little, too late. She did fine before raising Poncho alone.
Aide tells Fisela that when she lost her baby she wanted to die and be with him. Any baby she saw gave her such pain. And when she found out Lila wanted to end her pregnancy she only thought of saving that baby, of giving him the opportunity to live that their baby didn’t have. She thought they would raise the baby and Lila would go on with her life. It was egotistical of her, and wrong. Gisela tells her she needs to sleep and tomorrow she and Tino can face this together. She’ll bring Aide tea. Aide sends Tino a message and he answers he needs to be alone to process everything. He’s going to be late so she should go to bed. Aide thinks that’s strange. But it is Melina texting.
Bill talks about Lila getting Alexander back. She says she knows he wants to do it through the legal system but she’s not sure that’s what she wants. Bill says they’ll never return him on their own.
Hernan is in pain. He takes the pills the nurse gives him and he tells him to rest. Melina shows up nd tells him he needs to donate his bone marrow. Tino has leukemia and his life depends on the marrow.
Tino asks a nurse to call his wife. The nurse tells him his wife has been here the whole time. He tells her she hasn’t, he needs her to call his wife.
Hernan says if she gives him the money she owes him he’ll donate his marrow, he doesn’t care who gets it. But he says now she has Tino under her control, which is what she wanted. She says she also told all his family the secret. Hernan says he knows a bigger secret, he knows who Iker’s father is. He also knows about the money laundering. He wants more money to keep that a secret, in his account by the weekend.
Aide wakes up and wonders where Tino is. She realizes he never came home and calls him, but no answer.
Tino again asks the nurse to call his wife. She tells him his wife was here all night, caring for him.. He wants his phone, she says his wife, Señora Rubio, took it. He asks for her phone but he falls asleep before he can dial. The doctor comes in. Thanks to Señora Eubio his father will donate the bone marrow, if they’re a match, this could save his life.

Elvira, as always, you covered all important parts 👍
Looking forward for tonight's episode.
I will be happy if Merceditas dies tooking bullet for Doménica, or ends up alone and miserable in prison. Same goes for Kiara, but I think psychiatric division is more likely.
Doménica acted really stupid with Genaro. Can't believe how naive she still is.
Pilar is a little bit less annoying. New discovered love is good influence.
I'm glad Luis Fernando is suffering, he needs redemption. For now he escaped false pregnancy trap.
Anon
P.S.
Does anyone know what "chango de pirul" mean?
Doménica said that to Máx when she was drunk.

Nazario runs in late for the court hearing. The judge tells him he’s late then starts to talk. He whistles at her, he apologizes for being late and says Eudolf was with another woman. Their lawyer says he’s just trying to discredit them. Nazario tells his lawyer to say something it when he stands Nazario tells him to sit down.
Emi and Scarlet are talking at school. Emi says he’s strong. Scarlet is going to call Facundo. Emi doesn’t think she should, he’s not part of the family. She says he’s her family. Emi says if not for Melina they never would have known. They both wonder why Iker hasn’t been with Melina or in class. Circe texts Emi. She’s going to pick them up from school.
Rudolf and Clara Luz stand up. They want to tell the truth. There was a woman, but not like Nazario says. They were separated but they love Pipe and Natalie and want to be truthful for them, to set an example. Nazario is ready to gloat when Prisma stands up and says Clara Luz and Rudolf deserve to have Natalie. They are are loving family. She has filed a denouncement against Nazario for abuse.
Jeni is bent over in pain. Serena wants to take her to the clinic but she says she’s fine. Serena says with Poncho in school they can get the pregnancy result. Jeni says that’s fine, then she leaves. Chofis wants to stop by to see how her dad is. Serena tells her not to worry.
Nazario tells the judge Prisma is exaggerating. She tells him she isn’t, and the last time he hurt Natalie too. Nazario loses his temper and says it’s Prisma’s fault because she provokes him. The judge orders a guard to take him away. Then she says Clara Luz and Rudolf can’t offer Natalie a stable home either, she’ll go to family services. They tell the judge the twins need to be together and she’s a big help for Pipe.
Aide is telling her mother she’s worried because she can’t reach Tino and he never came home last night. Gisela says don’t worry, nothings happened, bad news flies. Aide gets a call from an unknown caller. Should she answer. Gisela tells her to. It’s for her, she repeats her name, then listens.
The doctor tells Hernan they will do tests to see if they’re compatible and other tests. Rino wants to be alone with his son. Tino still has his eyes closed. Hernan says he never regretted abandoning him, he doesn’t care if he dies. He’s doing it for the money. He took the bank loan from them to help play the repentive father. He took El Chacal’s bullet for him, that was Melina’s idea. She shot El Chacal the night of Berta’s remembrance celebration. He tells him Melina is the devil and you, Tino, let her in your house, because of him. The doctor comes in and Hernan pretends to be crying over seeing g his son so sick. Are their risks for Tino during the surgery. The doctor says yes, but it could save his life.
The judge decides that even though separated, they can give the twins a stable home. They hug Peisma, who tells them she knows Natalia be happy with them. They ask if Peisma can have some say in her upbringing. Nazario calls them manipulators and throws a chair. Two guards subdue him.

.
Nazario texts Melina that Prisma denounced him. She says yes, she’ll talk to Prisma. They’ll also be some money for him tomorrow. As she finishes she says he’s an idiot. She looks at a new car. It’s perfect for a new life with Tino, far away from here. I forgot, when he was half unconscious she told him she had plenty of money to start their new life.
Aide is talking to the doctor. He’s apologizing for the mixup with the other lady. Aide doesn’t care, she’s worried, she didn’t know he has leukemia. Meanwhile the nurse is telling Tino she called Aide and she is here. Tino thanks her as another nurse sticks his head in the door asking if she’s seen the donor. She goes to help look as Aide rushes in and Tino puts his arm around her.
Chofis seems to be talking to Jeni’s mother, who says she’s always looking for a better life. Chofis asks about her dad. He is a good for nothythat lives in Tijuana.
Jeni and Poncho are at the doctors. She has an infection and apparently still traces of the same STD as Poncho. They both need to take more medicine. The test Jeni did was a false positive. Poncho is relieved, he’s not going to be a dad. The doctor tells them to always use protection. Jeni wonders what she’s going to do. I hope we never see her again. They tell Serena. She says they both need to take the medicine. Jeni wonders about staying with them. Serena says she took advantage of them and she’s of age to take care of herself. She says she’ll get her things.
Tino tells Aide Hernan said things to him when he was semiconscious and he couldn’t respond. Aide says he’ll have the transplant and be well. He doesn’t think so but is happy he has her. He says she needs to call the kids and get them here fast.
Circe and Uli have arrived to get the kids. She gets a call from Aide and won’t answer. The younger kids say she never calls, it might be an emergency. Uli tells her to answer. Aide tells her Tino is in the hospital and it’s serious. She tells the kids she’ll tell them on the road.
The kids are at the hospital and Aide tells them the news. They wonder why the family doesn’t tell things immediately. Scarlet says if he wants all his kids she’ll contact Iker. They wonder if he ran away slime Hernan. Wmi wants to see his dad. Aide says go on in.
Gisela is arguing with the doctor. Tino’s wife is there, she has permission to sign the papers. She doesn’t want Melina there. She’s pulling away from guards. Gisela comes in and says Hernan fled, like the coward he is. The guards take her away.
Prisma is with Clara Luz and Rudolf. She’s grateful they will have the kids. She’s worried about Nazario. Rudolf says they’ll be there for her. Clara Luz is sorry she didn’t help her sooner. Prisma has a confession. Although it seemed like their meeting each other was casual they knew about Pipe and planned it.
Serena is packing Jeni’s bag while Jeni is yelling at her. She wonders why Poncho isn’t defending her. She blames Serena for his bullying. Chofis comes in and calls her a liar. Her dad is in Tijuana with his new family, not in the US
She’s just looking for a free place to stay, she’s nothing but a lier. Jeni clutches her stomach. They think she’s faking. She passes out.
At the hospital each kid tells him they love him, he can’t leave them. Uli says he’s not ready today, or ever. He has two days to find a donar. Lila walks in and says they can stop looking. She already took the test, she’s compatible. Aide goes to hug her but she shrugs her off. She says this doesn’t change anything, she’s going to file for custody of Alexander.

Carolina is with Andres as she realizes her engagement and wedding rings are the answer to their financial crises; she intends to pawn them. They will allow them to get to Zacatillo to meet Oscar.
Moises tells Oscar he is sad because of Carolina. He then plants the seeds for going to Zacatillo and after Oscar leaves, gives himself the thumbs up. (What a sweetheart).
The wedding is in full swing. Gloria and Manuel are happily dancing when Juan David cuts in and Angelina dances with Manuel. So sweet. When Diego leaves the table, Franco walks over, asking Lucia how she is. She says she’s wonderful and tells him about the horse, she is glowing! Doris and Cárcamo watch them across the room and following their gaze, Diego turns and frowns. He then goes back to Lucia putting his arm around her proprietarily. Franco asks Diego about his daughter and Lucia (nicely) bid him goodbye. It is obvious Franco is getting under Diego’s skin. He gives Franco a bit of a shark eye on the way out.
A conga line forms and guess who is leading it?? None other than Madre Gustava who insists hermana Celeste join in. Celeste shakes her head but seems to be enjoying the festivities.
Cárcamo talks to Franco and mentions his competition but their conversation is cut short as Doris and Cárcamo have to leave to go back to the hotel to prepare for their guests.
Rosalia and Lucas are sitting in a booth looking very happy. The women line up as Gloria gets on a chair, prepared to throw the bouquet. Hugo encourages Juanita to join the others; Lucas also smiles that Rosalia should join the women but she isn’t interested. Juanita catches the bouquet and she and Hugo kiss enthusiastically.
We see a beautiful full pale moon illuminating the sky…
At the hotel, Juan David practices his English, “welcome to the hotel” among other phrases. The lobby is quite chic, there is a nice table set with bubbly, a beautiful bouquet of flowers and coffee set up. Two comfortable chairs complete the room. The newlyweds arrive, Gloria asks him to be careful with the luggage which by the way he is grimacing, seems to weigh a ton. Cárcamo pops the champagne cork which catches Juan David in the eye. Next, a toast is given. All of a sudden, Gloria gets teary eyed thinking about Father Cucho. Thankfully, she soon comes out of her melancholy. The room key is procured and the couple are on their way up to their bridal suite.
Their room is quite pretty. A quilt adorns the bed and atop it is a red heart made of rose petals. Juan David holds his hand out for a tip and Manuel shakes it.
The women get home and Madre Gustava says she is leaving the next day.
Andres and Carolina chat as he lays down to sleep. He talks about the three brothers, Moises, Franco and Lucas as Carolina smiles. Mom, I love you very much he says.
Diana
The newlyweds (Manuel dressed in a T-shirt and jeans) are woken earlier than expected. Juan David arrives announcing “good morning” in several different languages. He wheels in a cart with a lone red rose and removes the tops off the dishes. He is ignored when he asks for a tip. The couple asks him to leave. After Manuel gets a devilish look on his face and is ready for the honeymoon to commence as Gloria smiles ear to ear.
Cárcamo and Doris later remind Juan David that now that Manuel and Gloria are married they will have their house back.
Lucia is with Diego when she gets the text about meeting Achilles. Franco arrived beforehand to set everything up with Arturo.
Moises and Andres confab but cut the call short when Oscar starts yelling for his son. Moises sighs as he sits on his father’s office chair.
Gloria and Manuel are checking out; Juan David goes to collect their bags.
Lucia is sitting at the restaurant and Arturo comes up, introducing himself. He enthusiastically tells her about Achilles all of which transpires as Franco listens, unseen around the corner. Lucia is bursting! Later, Lucas thanked him for his help.
Angelina and Gloria hug as Gloria and Manuel head off to his house! Juan David and Angelina are jumping for joy to have their house back.
Once home, Manuel gives Gloria a beautiful bunch of red roses.
Hugo tells Juanita there is a note on the bar for her. She looks surprised but its’s a love letter from Hugo.
Lucia meets with Diego who says he is happy for her and they start working…
Moises and Andres are heating up their plans. Moises tells Oscar he wants to see a pelicula in Zacatillo! Please, I want to go tomorrow he pleads and pleads and pleads. He dances as Oscar finally agrees and then smiles.
After Carolina and Andres do the happy dance about going to Zacatillo, they pack…
At the hotel, flowers arrive for Lucia. Diego signs for them as Lucia turns around and walks over. With a huge smile she says “mi amor, they are beautiful”. They aren’t from me he admits. Lucia reads the card out loud; they are from Arturo’s patron. Diego is clearly put out.
Franco and Cárcamo talk and he confesses he sent Lucia flowers supposedly from Arturo’s patron. I don’t think Cárcamo is a fan no doubt thinking about what Lucia will say when she finds out the truth. Diego mewls a bit about the flowers but Lucia says her jefe is just that nothing more. She kisses him.
Diana
Lucas asks Oscar if he wants a nieta or nieto. Oscar doesn’t care as long as the baby is healthy. Lucas mentions his mother and Oscar speaks kindly to him. Lucas still calls him patron as Oscar looks after him as he walks away.
Juan David has prepared a delicious-looking dinner. He and Angelina barely sat down when there was banging on the door. They cringe thinking it’s Gloria but it’s Father Gabriel! He is uncharacteristically unaware that he is intruding. He is clearly hungry and grabs a plate and fills it, enthusing about the food as Angelina and Juan David look at each other rather sadly. The dinner is so good, the good padre stays for dessert.
Madre Gustava talks with cool nun who tells her Carolina and Andres have left the convent, handing her a note. I don’t believe the note says where they’ve gone but I couldn’t decipher what it said.
Carolina and Andres are on the bus…
Oscar, Franco and Moises have breakfast as Moises shares his plans with Franco. Oscar’s cell rings. It’s Madre Gustava and his face immediately darkens.
Lucia takes off for her appt.
Oscar arrives and he and hermana Celeste immediately butt heads (as usual). I can’t translate their conversation but he is rude calling her “mentirosa”. He stalks off as they both glare at each other.
Rosalia pushes away her breakfast plate. Are you all right Lucas asks anxiously. Rosalia cries a bit saying that her father doesn’t know he is going to be an abuelo. She doesn’t have her mother…I believe Lucas says her father will be happy (he will?) but then goes on to say how happy his family, Oscar, Franco and Moises are. They hug but she doesn’t look terribly cheered up.
Arturo brings Lucia into the stable. “Achilles” she says, clearly delighted to meet the magnificent beast. He’s more beautiful than the photos she murmurs, petting him gently.
Madre Gustavo reads hermana Celeste a letter but all I could get was that it was something about the lawyer.
Carolina and Andres arrive as she gets a call. Is it Moises Andres asks excitedly? No it’s Celeste she tells him. Celeste is not in the mood for pleasantries. Where are you she barks; she wants her to return to the convent immediately! At that moment, there is an announcement at the bus terminal which Celeste hears. Are you in Zacatillo Celeste asks incredulously??
Another great episode!
Are Juan David and Angelina ever to have a moments peace?
How long will Franco’s subterfuge stay hidden?
Will it be four for the movies? Can’t wait!!
Diana
Liz, you crafted an exceptional recap, laden with details and marvelous insight. There were a few pivotal points I couldn't follow but you shone the light where it was dark.
This was another packed episode with one surprise after another, none of them good and all of them shocking. The violence and evil just keep escalating, unabated.
There were three revelations/events that were especially pivotal.
"Hernan says he knows a bigger secret, he knows who Iker’s father is" toally caught me by surprise. So the liar and fraudster isn't Tino's father? A collective sigh of relief is heard by viewerville. That said, is Tino's father someone we know??
"Hernan says he never regretted abandoning him, he doesn’t care if he dies" was beyond cold, callous and cruel. I cringe in that his words were likely ones that Tino heard.
"Lila walks in and says they can stop looking. She already took the test, she’s compatible. Aide goes to hug her but she shrugs her off. She says this doesn’t change anything, she’s going to file for custody of Alexander". After I absorbed this, it really wasn't a shock that Lila agreed to be the donor. Nor was I surprised she will fight for custody.
I have no idea where things go from here. I only hope we've finally hit rock bottom. So much pain and angst.
Liz, thank you so much.
Diana
I still need to review this episode because I rushed through the last half, but I can cover some parts that I’m more clear about. So, part of the review will be done now, the rest hopefully later today.
Luis overhears Domenica and her family celebrating (the lawsuit being dropped) as he drops by for a visit. He assumes that Max is back in her life. He tries to leave undetected, but Cute Lawyer sees him and calls him back. Nana tries to explain why they’re celebrating, but Domenica interrupts her. She doesn’t want to give him explanations. He tells them he’ll go, and to enjoy celebrating her being proven innocent. Max gets a dig in about “almost everyone here always believed she was innocent.” I couldn’t help but chuckle.
As Luis leaves Domenica’s hacienda, Genaro is there to taunt him and act butthurt because Luis also accused him of being involved in the false land deed (which indeed is the truth). Genaro also insinuates that Domenica has picked Max. Luis looks miserable.
Prudencio is having it out with Mercedes. He calls her “Mercedes” (not patrona), and says he regretted the years he wasted pining for her when she clearly wasn’t worth it. He assumed she was a victim who was misunderstood, when in fact she was always a bitter, cold hag. (Okay he didn’t say hag.) She tries to slap his face but he blocks her. She kicks him out and says there’s no way he’s getting severance pay. He’s okay with it. He says as soon as he leaves this job, they’re “equals” and she’d better treat him with respect.
Later he tells Adelaida that they have to go, they’ll find a pension to live in, and he’s sure his friends will give him work. But, he’s really sad to leave this hacienda; he’s worked there all his life and (I think) he has family buried there.
Cute Lawyer still questions the honesty and intentions of Max and talks to his dad (Godfather) about it. While Godfather is less suspicious of Max than his son, he agrees with Cute Lawyer, that they should still keep scrutinizing Max and make sure he’s what he says he is. Cute Lawyer also felt like Max was in no position to take a dig at Luis for not trusting Domenica after all the crap he pulled. Max tries to play the “poor me, I’m facing consequences for my actions” card.
Kiara thanks Silvi for getting patients for Luis’s clinic. (Kiara had told Luis that there were all these sick kids needing medical care in town in order to persuade him to open his clinic there. However, in truth she wasn’t interested or paying attention to any supposed kids. Silvi rounded up some potential patients in town to back up Kiara’s claim.) Silvi and Kiara cackle about their lascivious plans to snag Luis and Pedro, collectively. Silvi comments to Kiara how she wishes she could have the level of confidence that Kiara has. “I always get what I go after” Kiara replies.
Osvaldo brings Nieves a fancy bouquet of flowers, she’s super impressed because she not used to getting nice gifts. He talks about being her novio but she says they never discussed that. Osvaldo gets down on a knee and asks. She accepts. They kiss and Pedro sees. He’s mad. There’s a squabble between all of them which Kiara has to stop. Kiara asks Nieves, which guy is it for her? She looks conflicted. Pedro doesn’t let her choose; he leaves with Silvi, tears in his eyes. He figures that Nieves is with Osvaldo because he’s the son of the richest man in town.
Osvaldo (I think) wants to go somewhere to be alone with Nieves, and she seems to not to get or not care what he might mean by that. Silvia massages Pedro’s shoulders and comforts him, while he remains oblivious to her true intentions.
End of part one!
Anon, did not see context but literally “chango “ is a monkey and “pirul” is a type of tree.
Diana: I'm interpreting this as the Gran Final of this Telenovela is supposed to be this upcoming Friday ? 🤔
Moisés is upset that Oscar made them leave the reception. He is missing out on the barbecue! Oscar says he will make him something tasty. Moisés answers that he knows what is wrong with Oscar.Every time he sees the real nun, he remembers the fake one.Oscar tells him not to be ridiculous. Moisés says he owes him. He wants to go to Zacatillo tomorrow to have hamburgers and play some video games. . Oscar will think about it.
Another Strauss waltz in a novela at the wedding reception this time.
Franco asks Diego if his daughter likes horses. Diego answers that she does. Franco invites them to come out to his family's ranch. Diego says maybe. Franco says they can do it any day he likes. Sensing the tension, Lucía cuts the conversation short. After Franco leaves, Lucía says it wouldn't be a bad idea to visit the ranch. Besides horses there are all kinds of animals. Diego thinks it would be better to visit the ranch where she is working. Lucía has to agree. Diego then mentions that it is time for him to leave since Belén is alone. He suggests that Lucía stay. She decides to go with him. Franco observes them
as they say goodbye to the newlyweds.
Cárcamo tells Franco he wouldn't believe the way Diego was looking at him when they were talking. Franco says Diego couldn't help it since he is so charming!
Gloria and Manuel are the first guests at the boutique hotel.
Lucas cannot get Rosalía to get in on the bouquet toss. She reminds him she isn't into weddings.
One of the women complains that everyday there are less of them living at the inn. When they arrived, there were eleven and now they are down to seven. They can't include Lucía any more since she spends so much time in Zacatillo. Mother Gustava ads that they cannot count her anymore either since she has to go back to Mexico City early the next day.
Andrés creates a fantasy that he tells his mother. What if Oscar has forgotten all about what happened and takes them to live with him on his ranch? Caroliina thinks that would be lovely. He thinks it would be rally great. She and Oscar would be happy while he and Moisés could play together all day long. He could even have his own horse or sheep and three brothers. Carolina agrees and smiles as she reminds him it is bedtime and they kiss goodnight.
After complaining about not getting a tip from Manuel, Doris tells Juan David to just wait. When the foreigners start arriving he will be getting tips in dollars and euros which makes him feel better.
Diego is explaining his enjoyment of American style football when Lucía gets an email from "Arturo". She needs to go. Diego reminds her that they have to talk about a wedding dessert order when she gets back.
They boys bring each other up to date about getting their parents to Zacatillo.
Juan David almost has a panic attack when Gloria tells him she is going back to his place. He soon breathes a sigh of relief when she explains she needs to pick up all of her stuff to take to her new home.
Elvira, thank you for reviewing all the drama and doom . Silva and Kiki watch these folks as if it were a show. Silva lusts after poor, innocent, good hearted Pedro , and Kiki thinks she should be giving the hired help advice about romance . The rich and the poor interact.
I am amazed that Prudencio told off Mercedes . I hope that Dom hires him.,and he and unsmiling Adelaide go to live with Nana.
Genero is overconfident and stirring the pot . Meanwhile, Luis and his sad face keep changing residences while keeping an eye on Dom. Susan
"Arturo" doesn't meet with Lucía. It is one of his workers Alfonso (aka Poncho). He explains that Arturo regrets not being able to meet with her because his mother suddenly got ill and he had to go care for her. It turns out that Aquíles is a two year old colt with very good height. He is a horse from a lineage of champions and Arturo's favorite. She asks how they got her email address. He only knows it as somebody in Mexico City. She finds that odd. She asks when does Arturo want her to start. He says tomorrow! Lucía looks concerned. He asks if there is a problem. She smiles and says no. He has no idea when Arturo will be back He is a very busy man. Sometimes, he is away for weeks at a time.
Lucía tells Diego that she starts working with the horse tomorrow. She thinks she was a fool to have forgotten that there is nothing in the world that she likes more than being with horses. Diego is pleased to see her so happy. They talk about desserts for the banquet.
Carolina shows Andrés the money she got for her rings. It should pay for their trip to Zacatillo as well as give her some money on the side. Now they need to coordinate things with Moisés.
Andrês and Carolina talk with Moisés and Griselda on the phone. They are leaving for Zacatillo tonight. The plan is to meet up tomorrow. Moisés will call Andrés when they get to Zacatillo.
Moisés promises not pull any more pranks on his new teacher, to do all of his homework and anything else Oscar wants if he only takes him tho see the Aquatic Colonel movie tomorrow before they pull it and he misses it all together.
Carolina decides to leave the nun in charge a note telling her they will be out of town. She prefers that to talking to her in person where she might have to answer one too many questions.
Cárcamo doesn't think that Franco was smart sending the flowers and is taking too many risks like going to the café himself. Franco seems to think nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Diego doesn't think that "Arturo" sending flowers to Lucía is proper. She thinks the flowers show how "old school" "Arturo" must be. Diego admits how uncomfortable he felt seeing her so happy talking to Franco about horses. She tells him there is no horse that can com between them and kisses him with a smile.
Lucas tells Oscar he will not be taking his last name. He has been a Bandiini his whole life and he cannot see changing his name now. His grandmother raised him and made him who he is so his child will also be a Bandini. Oscar understands and says what he can be assured of is that he will recognize him as his son. He admires how Lucas is honoring his grandmother but is a little sad his grandchild won't be a León. Lucas answers that of course he will be a León. Maybe not by name but by his heart. Oscar smiles. Lucas is happy they talked. He was so worried about Oscar's reaction. He leaves Oscar still smiling as he says good by to his pa . . . patrón.
The good father mentions how happy Juan David and Angelina must be that Gloria out of the house . . . As he wolfs down his pasta, he tells his nephew that he must make sure that nobody gets in the way of his happiness. . . Besides staying for a dessert of meringues, he asks Juan David to make him some coffee.
Carolina's note says that she and Andrés have had to leave to take care of some business. They will be back in a few days.
Andrés says that things really haven't been so bad. Before they rarely did anything together but now he goes everywhere with her. They have had a lot of good adventures together. She has to agree but is sorry he has had to go through so much. He disagrees and talks her how brave she has been in the face of it all. She answers that she doesn't know what she would do without him but now it is time to sleep.
Moisés tells Oscar not to eat so much at breakfast. They will be having popcorn and nachos with cheese at the movies!
Mother Gustava asks Oscar to tell Sister Celeste to call her. He doesn't like being used as a messenger. She tries to convince him saying if it weren't a real emergency, she never would ask him.
Diego reminds Lucía that she has to be back at 2:00 for a meeting about the banquet menu. She looks at the time (on her phone) asks if they couldn't push back the time of the meeting since she doesn't know if she can make it back by exactly 2:00. Dieog cannot believe it. The agree to this time days ago. She says she will do her best to back by two. Diego hopes so. He doesn't want to look bad in the eyes of the customer. She insists she will be back at 2:00. He does smile as she pulls away.
As Sister Celeste tells the women that they need to get a bicycle pump rather than looking for a lift to a gas station to fill their bike tires, Oscar delivers the message from Mother Gustava. Celeste doesn't know why he has to continue being so disagreeable. He reminds her she is as big of a liar as her twin. She advises him to get over it and leave the past in the past. She reminds him how small the town is and how they will be running into each other.Maybe she should wear a mask. He doesn't think it would be such a bad idea. She goes to get into his SUV to go to his ranch to call Mother Gustava and he can't believe it. He thins she should grab a bike or better yet GET A LIFT FROM THE HOLY SPIRIT!!! (Yikes!)
Lucas is afraid that Rosalía will not be getting the reaction from Néstor she desperately wants. He reminds her that her father left town without even telling her and has not contacted her since. He has no interest in being in contact with her. He thinks she should concentrate on them and creating their own family.
He sure that Oscar will end up loving her as his own daughter. And who knows about Moisés? Their baby will have the most adorable uncles ever. She finally agrees there is no reason to look for love where it doesn't exist. He loves her and assures her they will be happy.
Alfonso is surprised that Aquíles is letting Lucía pet him. He usually doesn't let anyone touch him.
Celeste makes her way to Oscar's and talks to Mother Gustava who tells her that Carolina and her son have disappeared. Mother Gustava thinks that her sister is totally unhinged. Celeste thinks Carolina must have a reason. Last time they talked was when she was concerned about talking to her lawyer. Celeste hangs up and asks NOW WHAT?
Jarifa, thank you for always illuminating all of the events so vividly. Your wordsmithing is inspiring. An awesome summary as always.
"Andrés creates a fantasy that he tells his mother. What if Oscar has forgotten all about what happened and takes them to live with him on his ranch? Caroliina thinks that would be lovely". As do I!
"Moisés answers that he knows what is wrong with Oscar.Every time he sees the real nun, he remembers the fake one". So incredibly intuitive.
Franco was bold inviting Diego to the ranch! He isn't afraid of the competion, is he?
Thank you for clearing up the names of the "owner" and "go between" "Arturo" and "Alfonso" I did mess that up as I suspected.
"She goes to get into his SUV to go to his ranch to call Mother Gustava and he can't believe it. He thins she should grab a bike or better yet GET A LIFT FROM THE HOLY SPIRIT!!! (Yikes!)" Oscar is unbelievable!!
I really felt for Rosalia but Lucas was right in the "tough love" speech he gave her about Nestor. Perhaps something will happen to soften Nestor up.
I so enjoyed the wedding, the dancing, the happiness.
I'm so appreciative for everything you contribute to make this novela sizzle and shine Jarifa. Thank you.
Diana
Liz, thank you for providing every detail of a very grim episode . Yikes
I am very confused about Hernan. Is he he Tino''s father ? Is he Iker's father ? He has told so many lies that I no longer have any idea what the truth is .He is such a callous, devious, greedy person that I believe his anvil will be death . Susan
A wonderful recap, Liz. This just finished airing in Mexico and all I can say is...bizarre. I now wish they hadn't used this sort of secret because it makes both Tino and Aide look like pretty awful parents. I mean, I can see that it's devastating for Aide, but what she says makes it clear she needed a therapist, not another child. And this also makes it seem Tino put Aide's needs first because she was the one who said 'you have to help me convince her to keep the baby.' And who on Earth thinks a woman can just go on as normal after having a child she didn't want? That's not just selfish, but also cruel. I feel as if Tino had disappointed his daughter once more, given that she already had felt neglected in the previou season. I had to get this out of my system because I got way too mad, given that it's just a story.
I even was wondering if Aide had done the same if Circe had been the one who was pregnant.
Thanks, Diana, Susan and Waterlily. Diana I thought it odd that Melina left out Alexander but I just figured she wasn’t thinking of him, I forget he’s there sometimes! But she apparently knew all the facts before she showed up. Hernan describing her as the devil just showed me he’s right at her level. Melina was there because of Hernan. Hernan told Iker he was his dad, now he says he knows who his father is. If Melina isn’t his mother he might have a decent mom, which would be her twin.
Susan, Hernan is Tino’s dad. I’m thinking if he mom was so nice there was a decent husband at one time. Iker didn’t have a dad around growing up, as he easily believed Tino was his dad, and then Hernan.
Waterlily, I think that explains why the girls were less forgiving than the boys. The thought that she could do that to them also.
I wonder when we’ll see the video Iker made where he tells Tino he’s his half brother. I thought he’d send it right away but seeing that video would have put everyone on high alert. Right now the youngest kids are the only ones that suspect he’s gone!
Liz
Liz , thanks for trying to answer my questions . Another question : Was Hernan married to good as gold BertHa? If so, i feel very sorry for Bertha .
The first season was okay , but this second season was brutal and confusing . I don't think that these writers were very good. They just kept throwing more and more awful, depressing stuff around. So many PSAs . i want it to end .Susan
Diana, thank you for the recap and keeping the coverage of this novela going especially since it is on so late. It is very much appreciated. Why wasn't this slated for the 7:00 or 8:00 slot especially with such interesting and likable kids in the plot?
I had to make a note about Andrés and Alfonso who was also referred to as Poncho. Give me a break! I hope I remember where I made a not of these names. . .
They have given Oscar some interesting lines. He always seems to go beyond the pale where a normal character, even a curmudgeon, wouldn't go. Great writers and a very interesting character.
Can't wait for the next episode.
Jarifa, I totally agree that should have been aired earlier in the evening. It's family fare with amazing humor and a great storyline. The kids are a definite draw.
One of the better TNs in quite a while, too bad many are missing out.
Diana
Bill wonders if Lila is ready to get Alexander. He says something about having to do it quickly and she asks if he’s consulted a lawyer. He says no. Liar, liar, pants on fire..
Jorge and Julio come into the cafeteria. He’s missed her smile, but still sees pain. She has to make a decision, the most important decision of her life. Uli calls to tell her about Tino. She’s shocked. Bill comes over wondering what Uli said. She tells him and he says he had no idea. Another lie! Then we see the scene we saw yesterday, where she says she’ll be his doner. They all leave and Emi stays with Tino, who reaches out for Emi’s hand.
Prisma is telling Rudolf and Clara Luz that her dad was violent toward her mom and all the kids. Nazario came along and treated her like a princess. But when she never got pregnant he blamed her and would get violent, even though he was the sterile one. Then they met Silvana. She offered her a lot of money to “rent her womb”. She didn’t want to do it but Nazario kept insisting and threatening to leave her. They can’t believe he had her do it for money.
Aide is telling Gisela Lila will be the doner. She says it’s a miracle. Bill comes over looking for Lila. Aide sends the family alway. She wonders why Bill is interested in someone so young and vulnerable. She doesn’t want him to hurt her. He says she and Tino hurt her more than he ever could and he’s going to help her get legal custody of Alexander. Aide wonders if he’s doing it for Lila or to hurt them.
Emi tells Tino he hopes he can hear him. He’s been the best dad and he loves him. He doesn’t like want they did to Lila but he’s sure they’re sorry. He reminds Tino of when Tino would tell Emi to take his hand and he’d take the pain from him. He’s going to do the reverse, he tells Tino to take his hand. Tino has heard and says thank you and takes his hand.
Jeni tells Serena and Chofis she wanted to be pregnant to solve her problems. They both chime in with sound advice, a baby is not there to help you with problems, you can’t trap someone with a pregnancy, and Poncho is young, he can’t be responsible for her and a baby. Chofis advises her to go to school, get a job, and be able to take care of yourself.
Checo had just talked to Circe. She told him Tino had Leukemia. Cheno says he knew, Tino didn’t want the family to find out yet. Checo wants him to go, when he mentions Serena, Cheno says it’s over, Checo puts his hand on his shoulder.
Chofis is telling Jeni she has to be responsible for her own decisions. Jeni suddenly has another attack and Serena calls for a doctor.
Prisma is telling them she knows they wonder why he didn’t leave him. She didn’t want to go back to her dad. Rudolf says when people are realized with violence they’re more likely to accept it. She says she didn’t expect to feel so much love for the twins, but she did. She tells them about when the twins were born. Silvana had both. Nazario wanted more money to compensate for Prisma having tow babies. She refused. He said he can get violent. She told him she wasn’t afraid, she’d have them both put in jail. Prisma comes in to tell him, let’s go. He pushes Silvana and she’s knocked unconscious.
Liz
Azario tells Prisma to take the baby while he gets the other one. As he’s at the crib Silvana comes to and reaches in a drawer for a fun. Nazario leaves and she picks up Pipe. Prisma tells them they got false papers and went to Columbia. When Nazario heard Silvana had died he researched and they came back and enrolled Natalia in the same school as Pipe. He was sure Silvana had money. It wasn’t a coincidence that they met. Clara Luz wants to know about their time in Columbia. She wonders if Nazario knew a man named Señor Brizuela.
The siblings come in to thank Lila. She says this doesn’t change things, she’s going to try to get custody of Alexander. They think she should have him. They group hug. Lila says they’ll always be family, she loves them.
Gisela tells Aide Lila has every right to Alexander. Aide knows this, but it will destroy what’s left of their family. Gisela suggests she and Lila talk as adults. They may be able to work out something that is good for both of them.
Prisma doesn’t know the name, but their was a music director Nazario worked for and lost millions. Rudolf thinks El Chacal killed Gibron. Prisma thinks Nazario and Melina were accomplices. Now she understands why each ti e she planned to leave Nazario’s Melina talked her out of it.
A doctor is with Meni, Serena, and Chofis. She tells Jeni tests show she had an abortion and an untreated STD. This has made her sterile. At home, Poncho asks her if she’s alright. As she says no Chofis enters with her mother. Jeni tells her mother she’s sterile. Her mother apologizes to the family for Jeni bringing them problems. She asks Jeni to come home and they can work on their relationship. Jeni apologizes to Serena and the family. She wasn’t a good friend to Chofis and wasn’t good to the family. Serena says that’s in the past. Take care of yourself, you’re important. Poncho tells Jeni it wasn’t all her fault, and he apologizes to him. She tells him not to trust his friend. He was the one that’s been putting g stuff on social media, beginning with posting he was a virgin. She and her mother leave. Cheno, Checo and Chacita come in laughing. They see everyone so serious and wonder what happened. Serena tells Poncho to take Chachito to his room. She tells Chofis to tell them everything that happened. She has to go to see Prisma, she texted her while they were at the clinic.
Aide asks Fisela to take Alexander home. She thinks the other kids need to go home and rest too. They don’t want to, they want to wait and see how Rino and Lila are. Fisela wants to be there too. She offers to take Alexander to the garden in the hospital. Bill goes up to tail to Emi. Aide gets a call from the guy working on the books. They found something. Meanwhile.Emi tells Poncho I’ll his dad has always been so strong, it’s tough seeing him like this. Bill thinks he should come home with him, he reminds him of what they did to Lila. Emi knows, but says they realize they were wrong. I’ll says he should live with his biological father. Emi doesn’t want to talk of this now, the important thing is that his father recovers. When he leaves Scarlet comes over and says she wasn’t able to contact Iker. She’s worried.
The C family is so hard to understand, what I got was, Checo and Chofis think he says things without thinking and is always trying to be macho. He knows. That’s how Serena feels. He’s trying to change. They tell him if he loves her he needs to go after her. Cheno leaves and Checo tells Chofis he has something to tell her. Cheno is with Poncho, he wants to be someone Poncho can talk to. Poncho says he knows his mom and he are having problems. Cheno still wants to be there for Poncho. He wasn’t before but he wants to win his confidence. He knows they won’t be best friends at first, but ay e they can begin to u derstand each other. Poncho says umhum. Cheno says umhum what and Poncho says that’s good.
Aide is talking to Gisela. Gisela tells her it will be ok. Aide says it’s not just the transplant. The guy doing the books said the money laundering points to Nazario.
Serena is with Prisma. She feels she needs to think things through without living in Cheno’s house. She needs to find an apartment for her and Poncho. Prisma says they can stay with her. She helped her be brave enough to leave Nazario. Serena asks how she feels without Natalia. She’s ok, she feels she was never really hers. Serena mentions she can’t have kids and Prisma asks why, then Prisma apologizes for asking. Serena tells her it’s ok. Remember the girl I told you about that was abused and wouldn’t leave, that was her.
Cheno is talking to Poncho about bullying. His grandmother wouldn’t allow it. But his family had to deal with a bully, Guzman. Poncho tells Cheno the bully was his friend. Poncho says tell him why and then cut him off. And keep your distance. Checoo comes in, they need to go to the hospital. He says something to Poncho and hits his arm, poncho answers back and Cheno says he’s learning.
Clara Luz is talking to Gibron’s boyfriend. He thanks her for sending the things. He thinks. Nazario had something to do with Gibron’s death. Gibron wanted to honor the memory of his father. He had felt Nazario killed him.
Serena tells Prisma her stepfather was abusive. First with her mother and that affected all of the children. Then he would abuse her. That’s why she helps people in abusive relationships. Prisma says she helped her and she wants to help others.
Melina was wearing a glove and in Tino’s house. She broke all the family pictures then went upstairs.
Aurelio offers to take Gisela and Alexander home and stay with them. Meanwhile Melina is still in the house. She gets a gun out of the drawer where Hernan had looked for the jewels. A flashback to that, when he realized she wanted Tino. In present day Hernan comes in. He’s not afraid of her. He says her ending is real close. She repeats what he says, he says it again. She shoots him.
Cheno, Checo, Chofis and Rudolf are at the hospital. Clara Luz is home with Pipe but sends hugs. The doctor comes in. All went well. Lila can go home tomorrow, Tino will be critical for 48 hours to make sure his body accepts the transplant without infection. All jump and cheer, but not Bill. He doesn’t seem at all happy.
A delivery boy knocks on Prisma’s door. A neighbor said she could take a package for Rudolf since he’s not home. She opens the door and Nazario charges in. He asks where’s the louse and throws her down and starts kicking her. I can’t believe the kid left, he had to have heard something.
Milena is standing over Hernan. She says he was so arrogant and now he’s drawing his last breath. He says he has a surprise. I played this three times and never could hear a name, but….is alive.
Celeste demands Carolina return to the convent, now! Upon hearing the loudspeaker at the bus stop, Celeste can’t believe Carolina is in Zacatillo! Talk turns to Oscar Leon as Celeste’s blood pressure undoubtedly escalates accordingly.
Lucas welcomes Franco. He asks how Julieta is and Franco says she is very happy with her family in Peru. He then starts telling Lucas what he’s been up to with his little scheme…
Moises kneels outside of Oscar’s car. The little lad is texting Andres they are on their way. He crawls in the back seat….
After hearing what Franco has done, Lucas calls him” loco”. All of a sudden, an angry Rosalia come out and yells at Franco!
At the boutique hotel we see a sign on the wall that says, “Doris Place”. There is a man who seems quite taken with the place mentioning it is a bit “kitsch” but in a flattering manner. (Not sure if he is a travel writer?) However, as he takes pictures, Doris tells him there is no internet. He apologizes but that changes things.
“Are you out of your mind” Rosalia yells after Franco has tried to explain himself. Why are you doing this to my good friend she yells indignantly. Franco pleads his case. He is in love Lucas says, trying to excuse his friend. You are putting me in a difficult position she tells Franco; Lucia is my amiga. She agrees not to say anything for now. Franco laments his big mouth.
Hermana Celeste rides her bicycle right in the path of Oscar’s truck! He slams on the brakes, stopping on a dime, almost running her over! The two start arguing and Moises reminds his father they need to get going or they will be late. OMG. Hermana Celeste turns the bike and faces his truck. He guns it, the two mere feet apart. He finally backs up and drives on.
Lucia is giving Aquiles a good workout. Franco calls Alfonso and asks how it’s going. Very good. He sends Franco a video and Franco smiles like a starstruck teenager. She sees him filming her and wants to talk to who she assumes he is speaking with - Arturo. Franco hangs up in a panic much to Lucia’s confusion. Lucia then gets a call from Diego asking where she is. She is coming but it’s too late, Diego is left to apologize to his client.
Father Gabriel is talking with Juan David and Angelina when Doris comes in, complaining there is no internet. Angelina and Juan David jump on the bandwagon.
Lucia runs in but she has missed the client. Diego is none too happy.
Carolina and Andres check in to the hotel. Moises texts them as Carolina nervously looks at her reflection in the mirror.
Juanita and Hugo have been shopping as he pulls her in for a kiss. Gloria comes out and throws cold water on them announcing this is MY house and you need to respect it. Juanita stares and repeats “MY” house” under her breath to Hugo.
I gather Father Gabriel is scoping out the grounds for the internet.
Diana
A woman comes by, greeting the group and introducing herself to Father Gabriel. Erika wheels in her suitcase.
Erika tells Father she is in search of her son; he would be about nine years old she explains. I believe she says the father of her baby was married. All of a sudden, Father Gabriel gets quiet. He tells her it’s been quite a few years. She begs him and seems to ask him if there are any children that might fit the bill. He is clearly uneasy. She is hoping to recoup her son, she is his mother! (I’m not clear how they were parted. She says something about she didn’t abandon her child, did she say she gave him up for adoption?) The good padre says she needs to be discreet. I cannot say what Father Gabriel told Erika but after writing down her contact information, she appears to leave town, boarding a bus (Jarifa, kindly explain).
Oscar and Andres get their tickets at the movie theatre and choose their seats. Andres’ phone pings and he smiles; they rush off.
Oscar and Moises are sitting watching the movie. Andres and Carolina come in, Andres sits next to Moises, Carolina next to him. Oscar is eating popcorn and watching the movie, none the wiser.
Hermana Celeste, in hot pursuit of her sister, alights from a cab and asks for directions to the theatre.
Moises says he has to go to the rest room. Oscar says he’ll go with him but Moises replies he’s fine. Andres gets up and leaves with him, Carolina sliding into his seat. “Oscar” she says quietly. Oscar looks up, shocked. And unhappy. What does he do? He leaves the theatre muttering “Moises” under his breath. She tries to explain (he mentions Carlos) but he simply stares.
Oh no, Celeste shows up and asks Andres where his mother is.
Oscar seems to think Carolina is manipulating him; She has tears in her eyes but he calls her mentirosa. Forgive me she begs, grabbing his hands telling him she loves him, tears running down her cheeks. Please forgive me she again pleads as Celeste rounds the corner with a boy in each hand.
Diego and Lucia are interrupted by the announcement that Lucia has flowers waiting for her. She looks nervous but Diego immediately explains that they are from him. He apologizes and they kiss. Te quiero mucho amor he says. They are precious she effuses.
Why are you here Carolina asks Celeste. I can’t translate but Celeste seems to ask her at one point to have some dignity. Oscar strides away as Carolina looks heartbroken. Celeste seems to ask Carolina what will happen to Andres if she ends up in jail. Carolina is in tears as Andres turns around from the next table and looks worriedly at her. Carolina says how difficult this is; Oscar won’t forgive her. For once, Celeste thaws a bit and calls Andres over.
“Padrino” Moises says trying to explain as Oscar reads him the riot act. Padrino forgive me; Oscar is livid and won’t listen.
Father Gabriel asks Angelina where Juan David is. Angelina can plainly see the good father isn’t well. He tells her that a woman arrived looking for her son and the child she is seeking is Moises! Did no one tell the good father that loose lips…he tells her not to say anything.
I believe Celeste is preparing to turn herself in. Carolina tries to smile although her heart is breaking.
Diana
Oscar and Andres return home, Oscar in a foul mood. Franco follows Moises into his room.
Rosalia complains to Lucas about what Franco has done. Lucia is my friend. Another argument ensues.
Moises upbraids Moises. He punishes him, saying he is only allowed to attend classes. Is that clear? Si Moises says. He later tells Franco what happened; Franco tells his brother that relationships are complicated. Then Andres texts him he is returning to Monteverde.
Carolina gets on a bus and pulls out a picture of her and Andres as she cries. She stares at other family pictures as she sobs, putting her hand to her face.
Juanita and Hugo run into Celeste and Andres. Senora Carolina Hugo inquires, not sure. No, it’s hermana Celeste. Hugo asks about Carolina but she retorts that it’s a long story, wanting to avoid further questions. Hugo brings the suitcase in.
Oscar sits down and starts drinking. Father Gabriel, (whose timing is worsening in each successive episode) arrives, right on cue. Oscar closes his eyes, not in any mood to hear what will be revealed, but hear it, he will. The good padre tells him a woman came to town to talk about her lost son – Moises!
Such a shame that Moises and Andres’ excellent adventure turned out to be anything but…
Oscar is such an immovable force. Stubborn to the nth degree.
I wonder exactly what Erika’s backstory is and how Moises ended up with Oscar.
Another excellent episode.
Diana
Liz, your recap was as gripping as the episode itself. Extremely well done and completely riveting.
I kept thinking surely the worst is past. And yet, watching tonight that is surely not the case. Violence, cruelty and despair permeated every scene.
Although I could not understand what Hernan's words to Melina were, your explanation seems spot on. I can't see any of the current characters vanquishing Melina but perhaps she who is unnamed will be the one to do so. It's high time.
Hernan was so vengeful, so spiteful, so hateful...I find it unimaginable that he was married to Tino's lovely mother and that he was Tino's father. How could he be so indifferent and callous toward his own son?? His hours seem numbered (not a scintilla of sympathy from me).
Nazario, such a violent abuser deserves a huge anvil. It can't come quickly enough for me.
"Gisela tells Aide Lila has every right to Alexander. Aide knows this, but it will destroy what’s left of their family. Gisela suggests she and Lila talk as adults. They may be able to work out something that is good for both of them". For the life of me, I cannot fathom what that could possibly be but I wholeheartedly hope that is the case.
"Checo and Chofis think he says things without thinking and is always trying to be macho" was spot on. Chano still has a lot of maturing to do although I agree that he is trying.
I love the closeness of the siblings.
Bill should just slink away.
Where is Iker?
Liz, this was just wonderful. Thank you.
Diana
Liz, I believe Hernan said 'tu hermana.'
I do wonder what would have happened if Melina hadn't told the truth about Alexander. I got the impression Aide and Tino were affraid to admit what thy had done. The way they kept mentioning 'a scret', I was convinced it had to be some sort o crime or something. It's a good thing the kids get on so well. Otherwise that family would be completely destroyed.
Cano reminds me of men I know-asked to do something an doesn't do it. I know it's hard for him but damn. He didn't even remember Poncho had that contest. I suppose it does reflect how women are expected to be the ones carrying all the emotional load so it's convenient for men not to even bother. Though to be fair, it's not just men who think buying things is a sho of care an that's enough. I've noticed people who grew up lacking material things do this a lot.
Jenny, what time period are you living in? I found it rather irritating that her mum was like 'you are an adult now so you have to take responsibility too.' I mean, she's right but it's a bit rich coming from her as she was the one who didn't do her job and Jenny probably had no one else. And at some point her mum even said sh felt sorry for whoever her daughter was staying with.
Waterlily, you asked an excellent question as to "what would have happened if Melina hadn't told the truth about Alexander". I think that this was laying heavily on Lila's heart and might eventually have become too painful for her to bear possibly resulting in a confrontation from which none might have recovered. I don't think Aide or Tino would have revealed the "secret"; sadly while I'm sure they suffered pangs of guilt, it didn't seem enough for them to tell the truth.
Such a fractured fairytale.
Diana
Liz, thank you so much for bravely recapping this sea of tears . I echo everything that Diana expressed in her comment . I had to turn this episode off at tines because it was so brutal and unrelenting . How in the world can the writers right all the wrongs and evil ???
So, the consensus is that Hernan said " your sister is alive." Which means evil Melina assumed her twins identity. Is the twin Ikers real mother ?
Yes, where did Iker go? Does anyone know ?
I am sorry I ever decided to watch this show. It just got worse and worse.
I have to stick with it to the finale , but it was awful. i wonder what tbe acgirs thought .Susan
Thanks, Diana. I think this episode should have been called "Times are A' changing , Like It or Not." The peculiar but charming hamlet of Monteverde will never be the same after this episode. Time is pulling it and its inhabitants along to places not everyone wants to go. Quite a pivotal episode!
Celeste tells her sister that she is tired of her only thinking of herself.
The man at Doris' wanted to stay for three weeks to work on his next architectural project and pay in advance but when he finds out there is no internet, he decides that all he can stay is two nights.
Rosalía is incapable of seeing any of the charm in Franco's plan.(as do I) What he is doing is no joke. He is deceiving Lucía and will not win her back that way. (If Lucía were older, she would have been the perfect match for Honest Abe Oscar!!!) Franco is willing to run the risk that Lucía will hate him, if she is upset with his plan. Rosalía insists that hearing this has put her in a difficult situation. She doesn't want to lie to her best friend. She decides she will say nothing about what Franco is doing UNLESS she sees Lucía in person. Franco cannot believe how stupid he is not realizing that Lucía might hear him. (You think??)
After arriving in Zacatillo, Carolina and Andrés go for breakfast since they are too early for the movie.
Sister Celeste asks Oscar why they are in such a hurry. He tells her it is none of her business. Moisés pops out of the truck letting her know they are going to the movies in Zacatillo. Celeste says it is such a coincidence! She, too, has to go to Zacatillo to run some errands. Can Oscar take her? He cannot believe what she is asking him. She has just finished yelling at and reprimanding him and now she expects him to give her a lift??? Even if he were crazy, he wouldn't take her. He tells her to get there on her own on her bike!! They face off in the street with him revving his engine and she looking like a bull ready to charge on her bike. She screams "Savage!" as he drives by.
Poncho (Alfonso) tells Franco that Lucía is doing so well with the horse it is as if she has enchanted it. Lucía asks if Rizo Patrón is an older man. (Interesting: rizo means curl/patrón owner besides being names in their own right/Franco has curly hair and owns the horse Hmmm) Poncho answers that he is a young guy. .
Diego is not happy that (ditzy?) Lucía has not left the ranch yet. The client has no time to wait around for her. (Duh!) He wants to get down to business if only with Diego.
The good father tells Juan David and Angelina that he woke up thinking about the tasty meal that Juan David made the night before. They should get together for supper more often . . . like every night so they can talk about the day . . Angelina asks every day??? The (nightmare of the) conversation is quickly ended when Doris arrives with her story about losing business due to no cell phone/internet connection. Everyone agrees with Doris that the town should be connected to be able to progress except for the good father. Juan David decides he will find a place for the antenna and leaves right then and there to find one.
Lucía comes running to the meeting only to find out that the client left. Diego reminds her the appointment was for 2:00 and it is now after 3:00. She apologizes but Diego says things cannot go on like this. He says since the horse arrived on the scene it is as if nothing else exists. She only thinks about it. She asks what does he expect. It is something that she loves. He understands but that doesn't mean that she has to forget about her other priorities and commitments. She has to be more sensible. He cuts her off explaining that he has no time to talk now. They will talk later.
Juan David points out a possible place for the antenna: on top of a building in the parish compound. The good father says it is perhaps better to wait until the internet/cellphone experts arrive to see what their opinion is. Doris doesn't care as long as it gets done. It is going to benefit Monteverde so very much. The good father thinks that is yet to be seen! (He sees their way of life slip slippn' away)
Erika explains that when she was 18, she had a baby. They told her that it was born dead. A few months later she found out that was not true. The baby's father was a married man. She had a difficult child birth and was unconscious when the baby was born. It was at that time that the bastard took her baby from her. All she knows is that the baby was put in a basket and its future left to fate. She is in Monteverde because she heard that several years ago a baby was found in a basket in Monteverde. She asks the good father if he has ever heard that nine years ago a person found a baby in basket in Monteverde. The good father never answers directly but admits he might remember hearing about that but cannot be sure since it was so long ago. She wants to go door to door asking everyone in town. He thinks that would not be a good idea. She is getting the feeling that he doesn't want to talk about this. Ever since she found out that her child is alive, she hasn't spent a day without thinking about him, getting him back and telling him she is his mother. The good father warns her that if she starts asking around the news of her arrival would certainly cause to the family, who had taken her baby in, to make sure she never found him. He takes her contact information, convinces her to leave town and let him handle the matter discretely.
Carolina tells Oscar that Carlos has nothing to do with her being there. She tells him this might be the last time she sees him.
The boys are disappointed they won't get to see the exciting ending of the movie. Moisés wonders what is going on with their parents. He is hoping that they have made up and are kissing now. Andrés has to agree that would mean that everything was good and they could move back to Monteverde! Celeste appears wanting to know where her sister is.
Carolina tells Oscar that she will be turning herself in as her lawyer has advised. Since she will be doing that as soon as she is back in Mexico City, she wanted to see him one last time. He tells her she wasted her time. He believes not one word of what she said. She tells him she had to lie because of her situation but he cannot get beyond that he told her that lying was the one thing he could not stand and she did it anyway! (I say it again: something not quite right in that noggin')He will not accept her apologies and hopes she can forget him as he is going to forget her. She says that will never happen and she knows he feels the same. Celeste arrives with the boys.
Diego tells Lucía that the flowers are to congratulate her on her first day as a horse trainer. They apologize to each other and kiss. They love each other.
Moisés sticks up for Celeste telling Oscar that she was not involved. He and Andrés planned it all to get him and Carolina back together so they could be happy. They know that they love each other. Carolina declares that she loves Oscar with her whole being. Celeste reminds her to have a bit of dignity!!! Carolina answers if loving is not dignified, then she is guilty!! (sounds like the old lyrics: If loving you is wrong, I don't want to be right!) She loves Oscar from the very depths of her heart. Moisés insists that Oscar loves her, too. He has been like a zombi ever since she left town. Oscar has had enough and is out of there with Moisés in tow.
The good father tells Erika that she can leave with no concerns. He will look into the matter. She is grateful. It would be a blessing to find her son in Monteverde. The good father blesses her as she gets on the bus.
Carolina tells Celeste she is going to turn herself in. The lawyer told her the sooner the better. Celeste asks about Andrés. Carolina says the lawyer said she is going to request home confinement for her so that should not be an issue. Celeste asks what will happen if they keep her in jail. Carolina is trying to not think about that. Celeste says she needs to make a plan for Andrés before she turns herself in. Carolina knows the only other person she trusts Andrés with is her. Celeste agrees to take charge of Andrés. Celeste says they will be in Monteverde praying that the judge finds her innocent and they are all back together ASAP.
Oscar is on his high horse telling Moisés he is sick of everyone lying to him and now that includes him (Moisés.)Moisés argues it was a small lie. Oscar isn't buying it . A lie is a lie. He doesn't want to hear another word from his mouth!!!
He will come up with a punishment when they get home.
Celeste goes on to tell a distraught Carolina that as soon as Carlos finds out that she is arrested, he will be filing for custody so he can take Andrés far away. She tells Carolina to stop fantasizing about Oscar. He is a very hurt man because of everything that has happened to him. If he ever forgives her and with God willing, they will be together. Now, she needs to go back to Mexico City and take care of this mess. She need not worry about Andrés with her. They talk with Andrés and tell him the plan.
The good priest cannot help himself spilling every single detail to Angelina about Moisés' mother. (I agree about loose lips . . . )
Carolina and Andrés say goodbye. Celeste promises that she will take him every day to Oscar's ranch so he can talk to his mother.
Rosalía insists that if she runs into Lucía she will tell her the whole truth (and nothing but the truth) a out Franco and his plan. It is a question of loyalty. Lucía is her friend.
Moisés is being punished by being grounded and having to stay in his room for a week unless it is for classes with his teacher. Moisés explains to Franco how he and Andrés hatched the plan how he finds himself confined to his room. Franco knows that what they did was with the best of intentions but the problem is that adults have are much more complicated issues than those that kids have. Franco advises Moisés if he has any "ideas" about doing something in the future, he should check them out with him first. Franco says he can feel good that what he did he did with the best of intentions.
First, Oscar pours himself yet another drink (I have those same glasses at home!) Then, the good father arrives with his news.
Jarifa, your summaries are always exceptional but you brought this to an entirely different level. Your razor sharp observations along with great wit and humor were marvelous.
Yes, our denizens are being propelled into the twenty first century, like it or not. "(He sees their way of life slip slippn' away)" perfectly described the future. Ready or not, here it comes.
"Carolina answers if loving is not dignified, then she is guilty!! (sounds like the old lyrics: If loving you is wrong, I don't want to be right!)" had me smiling away as did "She screams "Savage!" as he drives by". Just grand.
"Lucía asks if Rizo Patrón is an older man. (Interesting: rizo means curl/patrón owner besides being names in their own right/Franco has curly hair and owns the horse Hmmm)" was sublime!
"Oscar is on his high horse" (isn't he always??) made me laugh out loud.
I so appreciate your explaining Father Gabriel's conversation with Erika so precisely. I missed the critical words that of course he is going to do the right thing. So she thought the baby was dead and it was stolen by his father. I can't imagine this being any of the characters we know (except Carlos which I doubt is an option). As the good father knows it's Moises, I'm surprised he told her that the family might spirit the child away. I can't see Oscar in flight, but can see him fight...
I'm very worried for Carolina. It was so sad watching her all alone on the bus journeying to a very frightening and unsettling future. I do hope she is placed on house arrest and able to recoup Andres ASAP. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think Padilla ever gave her the USB. Carolina was supposed to sell the house to pay him. Wonder what the status of that is.
"First, Oscar pours himself yet another drink (I have those same glasses at home!)" was the cherry on a delicious, satisfying sundae.
Jarifa, I am so grateful for all your clever additions and for your clarifications that you unfailing add daily. Thank you.
Diana
I meant to add that the boys' plan to reunite Carolina with Oscar failed but it was no surprise...
Oscar remaining so hardhearted when Carolina told him she might never see him again was hard to watch. I'm looking forward to his evolution into a kinder, less judgemental and better man.
Diana
Diana, you are right. Carolina never negotiated for the USB. Maybe she will do that before she turns herself in.
Diana, yoy are right that the boys’ sweet and good-hearted plan was doomed from the start. I do wonder what will need to happen to soften Oscar’s heart especially now with Moisés’ mother’s appearance.
This is always such fun! The Lucia story could go either way. She loves horses snd should work with them IMHO.
I think somehow Oscar will have to be caught in a big whopper of a lie to get his comeuppance. Any chance he is Moises’ actual father and rigged the basket story? I keep trying to think who it might be, but there are not many appropriately aged men who would have been married (not the Padre).
It’s fun watching Africa in this. I hate her villain roles!
The boys are such fun. Very different personalities that complement. They are devoted to each other and should end up as step-brothers.
Babachita
Moises will want to be with Erika after the chewing out and grounding Oscar gave him. I had a slightly different take on the baby in the basket story. I think the bio father decided to steal him and drop him off in a remote village that he had no ties to at all, so trying to find a connection to any of the locals is a waste of time. Besides, this was a womanless town until project Genesis, so the married bio dad doesn't fit. I feel badly for Erika. Hopefully she gets Moises and Oscar can still be involved as a dad. I never felt he did right by Moises. A misogynistic man raising an infant! The baby should have been turned into the authorities and a loving couple found to raise him. Oscar did nothing about schooling until he was 8 years old. That is borderline child neglect IMO.
Speaking of Moises, he is a great young actor. I've really enjoyed the scenes he is in. Kudos to him and the cast for allowing the mouse, Griselda, to climb all over him and be a frequent cast addition! I don't care much for mice. My dog was interested in the scenes she kept squeaking in.
I agree, this should have been in the earlier spot. I just spent 2 overnights at my daughter's as she went to Long Island on a business trip so I helped with the kids. I tried watching Monday and Tuesday's episodes last night, but fell asleep 5 minutes into it. Not sure I'll make tonight's either at it's air time. I'm a bit tired....
Thanks Waterlily! I heard it tonight. Her sister is alive. Mow she wants him alive as she asks him what he did with her. A voiceover says there’s nothing more dangerous than your plans being interrupted just before you cross the limit, you end up making extreme decisions.
Nazario is beating Prisma when Serena runs in and attacks him. He starts beating her. She tells him she called the police but he says her phones on the table. Now he blames her for putting ideas in Prisma’s head.
Melina transfers Hernan’s ody from a wheelchair to her car.
Clara Luz, Rudolf and Cheno are discussing how well Tino is doing when Pipe comes in wondering where Natalia is. As he gets more anxious Eudolf says he and Cheno will go get her. Then they hear a cry for help. Natalia has come out of her room and says why is her dad being so ugly. Nazario goes for her and grabs her face. He says her mom has put ideas in her head. Serena is on her phone and he grabs her and puts a knife to her neck. The guys rush in and he points the knife at them.

He wants to talk about their relationship but Gisela says she’s never been alone, she’s always depended on a man. She wants to learn to depend on herself. When she gets a partner it will be for love.
The guys are fighting Nazario and he stabs Cheno in the arm. He runs out as Serena runs to Cheno and Rudolf calls for Natalia and Prisma.
Serena tells Cheno he needs to rest. Even though the wound is not serious it can get infected. He suggests posting on social media. When Serena rejects that he suggests something to take away his pain. She reminds him she and Poncho will be with Prisma for a while. He flexes his muscles. She thinks he needs to mature. She doesn’t think she’ll come back to him.
Rudolf and Clara Luz are laughing and joking. He says he’s strong and intelligent. She reminds him of his last “date”. Prisma thanks them for letting her spend the night with them. Clara Luz thinks they can work something out where they all coparent. She’s grateful. Then they tell her they think Nazario may have killed Gibron and tell her what Gibron’s boyfriend told them.
Nazario is asking Melina for help. She says he was able to get out of Columbia without help. He needs money, he wants to leave the country. She’ll have money for him in a few days, he can help her find someone. She wants to go to Quietarlo. He can get lost in that big city. She has something to make him feel more secure, she gives him the gun.
Tino is awake and after I love you’s asks about the kids. He wonders if they’re still mad. Aide says they’re worried about you. He asks about Lila, he wants to thank her, he wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for her. The surgery was several days ago. Rino is surprised. The doctor comes in with excellent news.
Clara Luz asks Pipe if he’s content that he’ll see more of Natalia. He says yes, and also because his parents love him. Not like Nazario who left Natalia. He’s going to tell everyone at school that his parents love him. Rudolf tells him to brush his teeth so he can bring him and Natalia to school. Rudolf thinks they should tell Pipe they’re not together. Clara Luz says not today, she’ll tired.
Chachito says the food was better when Serena made it, because she said her secret ingredient was love. He misses her and Poncho. Cheno says he can see them but he says it won’t be the same. Chofis mentions robberies in the neighborhood. They mention that’s why Serena came to stay with them in the first place.
Serena thanks Serena for opening her eyes to Nazario. She has his computer and did a lot of his work for him. She’s going to try and find something to prove Serena is innocent of the money laundering.
Poncho’s friend tells him he can get exam answers for him. He’s not interested. The friend accuses him of being a coward. Poncho tells him no, you’re just a bad friend. The friend pushes Poncho. A teacher comes by telling them no fighting. He tells the friend the director wants to talk to him. He says he didn’t start the fight and is told that’s not why the director wants to see him.
The doctor thinks Tino is amazing. His body has healed so fast. And his daughter’s marrow went to work right away. After he leaves Rino asks Aide about Lila. Aide tells him she wants custody of Alexander. Aide doesn’t think she’s strong enough for this.
Melina comes into the coffee shop to talk to Lila. She hopes she won’t have anything to do with her parents. They also treated her son, Iker, terribly, and he’s Tino’s son with her. She hopes she’ll take Alexander from Aide and Tino. She says she’ll need a good lawyer to win custody. Lila says Bill is taking care of that. She wonders what Bill gets from this. Lila tells her they’re a couple. Melina is surprised. She was friends with Paulina. This surprises Lila. Melina mentions the tragedy of Paulina’s death. And goes through what happened and she thinks El Chacal was really after her. She wants to take the place of a mother for Lila so Lila can talk to her and come to her. She gives Lila her number.
Rino wants to go home so he can sleep and rest in his own bed. Aide says she won’t leave him alone as she leaves. A murse announces a police officer wants to talk to him. He has looked into his claims about Melina but there are inconsistencies. However that’s not why he’s here. He’s here to tell him they found the body of his dad near his house.
Melina is talking to Nazario. He thinks she’s setting a trap on him. She says she would have called the police right away if she wanted that. He wants money. He knows all the stuff she’s done. She’ll transfer it but he needs to stay where he is.
Rino tells the officer he’s sure Melina is in loved in his father’s death. His father told him he had a secret about Melina. The policeman tells him they can’t interview a dead man. But they’re on the point of discovering something important..
At school the kids are talking with Poncho about the friend. Poncho says he’s not his friend. Poncho says the director wants to see him about stealing exam answers. They tell him no, it’s about a robbery. Poncho thinks back to when the two masked men came into their home. Just then the friend is led away by two policemen.
Aide comes home to find Gisela and Alexander in the garden. She tells her mom the doctor is amazed at Tino’s recovery and calling it a miracle. Someone rings the gate. It’s Lila, Aide thanks her again and says her dad wants to see her. She says she didn’t come for that, she came to see Alexander.
Peisma is talking to Serena and Clara Luz. She wasn’t able to find anything proving Nazario did the money laundering but she did discover he was using Pipe’s money for his own personal use. They talk about denouncing him and Serena decides she’ll go to the lawyer. Prisma tells Clara Luz how sorry she is, Clara Luz feels bad for pipe and Natalia but that’s not what’s bothering her. She says she loves Rudolf more than ever and he’s not interested in her. Prisma thinks she’s wrong, you’ve never been quiet before, talk to him.
Aide wants Lila to think hard score she does anything. Lila wonders if they ever thought about her future. They made the decisions for her. Fisela interrupts. Has she thought about what the child needs. They need a lot, and it isn’t free. Lila says they have a lawyer. Gisela says that’s expensive too. Aide doesn’t think Bill really loves her, he’s with them to hurt Tino and her, because he didn’t get the family he wanted.
Tino is getting out of bed and the nurse stops him. He just wants to get some air. The nurse wants him to use a wheelchair. He says he’ll get someone to walk around with him.. she relents. He calls Aurelio and wants him to meet him out front in half an hour. Aurelio thinks he needs to stay in the hospital. Tino says he’ll come back, he just wants to talk to Lila.
Rudolf says he’s written a song for Aide and Tino. He’s afraid they’ll be mad, but who knows when Maximax will open again. Clara Luz says she’ll help him. He goes out and she texts someone. Rudolf comes back in and gets the text, from the date he never met. Clara Luz thinks she might be the love of his life. He should answer her and invite her for dinner. She’s go to Prisma’s.
Alexander doesn’t want to go to Lila. Aide tries to get him to, but she says she can’t force him. Ever since Melina he’s been leery, and he doesn’t know her very well. Lila blames them for this. She leaves.
Our four detectives are talking about Melina. She’s mentally unstable. They worry about Iker. Uli wants to tell them something, but with Aide there too.
Nazario is asking Melina for money and sees she’s blocked him. Two detectives come around the corner. He’s under arrest for family violence, laundering money and suspicion of killing Gibron. Finally!,
Rudolf is at a restaurant and ClaraLuz is behind him. She says she followed him. But only to make sure the date is ok. He says she hasn’t lost her sense of humor. She tells him she enjoys fighting with him and then making up. She wants to wake up by his side every morning. He says he has a date and pushes her towards the door. He says his date is intense. She wonders and he wants to know what he knows about his date. She tells him it’s her. She made a fake profile. She tells him she loves him and starts singing a love song. She grabs an onion ring g off a table and asks if he’ll marry her.
Aurelio wheels Rino to the car, gets him strapped in and starts the car. But he forgot the wheelchair, he’ll hide it. Melina gets in, Tino asks why, she says they need to talk alone. He asks where Iker is and she wonders what kind of moths she thinks she is.
Aide wants to be with Tino but he wanted her here at home. She says there’s no telling what crazy thing he’ll do. Someone’s at the door. It’s Iker and the real Melina, her sister Selina is a nutcase, she’s capable of anything.
Father Gabriel tells Oscar that Moises’ mother has returned. No it’s not true Oscar sputters as he stands. Yes it is, Father asserts firmly but kindly. Oscar says Moises’ mother didn’t care about him; she has been absent for years. I think Father said the mother was told the baby died. Oscar rages as the father tells him to calm down. He can’t!
Hugo, Juanita and hermana Celeste return to the inn with Andres. Everyone is delighted to see him and of course ask for Carolina. Hugo assures the lad he’s not alone as they clasp hands.
Erika seems to be a good woman Father asserts. I believe he says she didn’t abandon Moises as Oscar takes a drink. In a flashback, we see Oscar walking and suddenly hears a baby cry. Indeed there is a woven basket (all that’s missing is the river and reeds!) He looks around surreptitiously but seeing no one, sits down. He pulls back the blanket and lifts the child out, a sweet, crying dark-haired infant. He coos to the baby, reassuring him. Back in the present, Oscar angrily asserts Moises is his child. Father says Moises’ mother is there and wants her son. Oscar doesn’t care, it’s not important. Father tries to talk sense to him, albeit kindly. He has to consider all the possibilities.
Andres and Juanita catch up.
Carolina greets Madre Gustava who has a few choice words for her. Carolina asks her to forgive her. She reveals that she is going to be turning herself into the police. The Madre is startled and stands up. Carolina explained that her lawyer advised her to do it. She will stay there for the night.
Rosalia is reading in bed when Lucas comes in. Lucas talks to his baby saying he is the father; Rosalia strokes his face. He rubs her stomach as they smile.
Oscar looks at the sleeping Moises and sits down on the bed. He kisses his forehead and slinks against the headboard looking unbearably sad.
Carolina awakes and recalls her conversation with Andres on the bus and grimaces…
“Good morning” Franco says to his father at breakfast. Moises comes in and Oscar envelopes him in a bear hug; Franco smiles but looks surprised. He tells him to sit down and Moises and Franco begin bantering. “Are you all right papa” Franco asks looking concerned. He seems to know Oscar isn’t being upfront with him.
“Tia” Andres says as he goes up to her as she fixes her bicycle. He kisses her and says his mother is sad about Oscar. He wants to call her and asks if he can request Hugo take him to Oscar’s “cell zone” so he can make the call. She reluctantly agrees. In the meantime, Hugo gets sweet kisses from Juanita.
Diana
At the doctor’s, Rosalia has her sonogram and she and Lucas hear the baby’s heartbeat. They are both thrilled and he kisses her hand; we are going to be parents!
At the stables, Oscar is sitting and staring darkly. Franco comes up and asks him what’s wrong. Moises’ mother is back he allows. A started Franco says she abandoned Moises, but Oscar fills him in. Oscar is going to see Father Gabriel. Do you want me to go with you? No Oscar says, thank you. Franco looks very concerned.
The gathering for the blessing and celebration of the boutique hotel opening begin. “Welcome to Doris’ place” Juan David says to Angelina in English. Kisses and hugs…
Doris and Cárcamo are greeted by Juan David’s “good morning boss I’m ready” in English. “Good morning Doris” follows. The women from the inn are among the first to arrive and are thrilled with what they see.
Hugo brings Andres to Oscar’s so he can call Carolina. She smiles happily upon hearing his voice and asks how he is. I’m doing well. Did your tia bring you? No, Hugo did, he replies. They miss each other. She will be meeting with the lawyer; he hopes she is not arrested. She reassures him all will be well. All of a sudden, Oscar walks up frowning. What are you doing here he asks and receiving no answer repeats his question. With Hugo by his side, arm around him, Andres admits he called his mother. He says he is in Monteverde with his tia. Moises runs up and is delighted to see his friend. Oscar softens and Moises and Andres run off as Oscar finally smiles.
Everyone who is anyone is at the hotel grand opening. Father Gabriel gives a speech interrupted by Doris. There is a table loaded with delicious looking goodies and champagne on a tray held by Juan David. The father uses his Aspergillum to bless the hotel with holy water.
Doris invites everyone to eat then goes over to Diego asking his opinion/approval on something. After they go upstairs, Franco rushes over to Lucia. She tells him about her latest venture and effuses about Aquiles; he is incredible she gushes, clearly glowing. Franco feigns surprise but smiles sweetly. Salud he offers, flashing his million-dollar smile. She says this is her passion, her dream; she is so happy. She is momentarily distracted by his hawtness but brings herself back rather quickly.
The boys play with Griselda and after, a rather expensive-looking hot miniature model car.
The next morning, Carolina meets with the lawyer who seems to reassure her everything will work out. I can’t provide specifics but during the several scenes they discuss the case with Carolina asserting Carlos has no scruples. FINALLY, she gives the lawyer Padilla’s card. The lawyer tells her they have to go to see the police; it is clear Carolina is panicking.
Doris asks Diego what he thinks of the hotel. He loves it! Lucia walks up and congratulates them as Franco side eyes.
Oscar is at Father Gabriel’s. He seems to question Erika’s motives although I couldn’t really interpret what was said.
Diana
Carolina tells Madre Gustava about her conversation with her lawyer. (Does she ask if she might stay there if the court allows her house arrest?) She blesses her and after Carolina leaves, she asks God to protect her. The lawyer is there and they take off.
Cárcamo gives Juan David a walkie talkie. “Yes sir” Juan David grins, trying it out.
The two friends (Moises and Andres) sit down and talk about Carolina trying to prove her innocence. Oscar listens as Andres frets that his mother might go to jail but she is innocent. Your mother is going to the police Oscar queries making his presence known.
Rosalia wants Lucas to take her to the hotel. She is holding the picture of the sonogram in her hand.
“Are you sure” Oscar asks Andres. He tells the child not to worry. Oscar (finally) looks concerned but says she is doing the right thing. A distraught Andres puts his head down on the table as Oscar rubs his back assuring him it will be all right.
Doris and Cárcamo invite Diego and Lucia to something I couldn’t interpret. Franco comes up, wishing them well and leaves. Lucia stares a bit and Diego does not have any trace of a smile on his face.
Carolina and the lawyer approach the court steps and Carolina starts hyperventilating. You are the victim of your marido the lawyer asserts trying to reassure her. With that, Carolina takes a deep breath and they walk up the stairs.
Rosalia and Lucas enter just after everyone else has left. Rosalia excitedly shows off the sonogram picture to Doris and Cárcamo. All of a sudden Lucia and Diego come down and she shows them as well. Lucia happily shares her excitement about Aquiles as Rosalia looks sad and extremely uncomfortable. Alarm bells ringing, Lucas puts his arm around Rosalia and it seems only by his sheer will does Rosalia not spill the beans. She starts to talk and then clams up. Lucas hurries Rosalia out the door as Lucia seems to sense something is off.
Carolina and her lawyer are ushered into a room. Introductions are made but then the policeman’s face freezes as he coldly asks Carolina for her license. The order for Carolina’s arrest for fraud pops up on his screen. He stands as states as much as Carolina looks like a deer in the headlights.
Diana
Liz, I can only thank you for yet another awesome recap. I hung on every wonderful word. What a fantastic job.
I readily admit I did not understand the last scene (I thought it WAS fake Melania!) so thank you for clarifying it was "the real Melina". SO relieved Iker is fine and wonder how on earth he found her!
The beginning of justice for Nazario who hopefully will be locked away for the rest of his miserable life.
There is no way tiny Melina could have picked Hernan up and put him in her car. I guess evil gives one superpowers! :)
Melina talking to Lila was contemptible.
Sadly, Melina lived to see another day. There is plenty of time for her to be up to much more mischief.
This was wonderful Liz. Thank you.
Diana
Good luck Elvira, because nothing important happened in last two episodes.
First 37 episodes were excellent, but last 5 were terrible 😤
Nothing big resolved and only 8 episodes left.
Shame on you writers 😠
Anon
Thanks Diana. I was impressed with Melinda’s strength!! That was my first thought in that scene. Hernan probably weighs twice as much as Melina but she lifts him from a chair to the back of an suv!
I hope we find out how Iker found his mom. I know they’re twins but I find it hard to believe he didn’t figure out sooner that this wasn’t his mom. Andres in Monteverde doesn’t seem to have trouble knowing his aunt from his mother.
Lila seems to blame Aide for Alexander not knowing her. But she left and hasn’t been around them the last 3 or 4 years. So she is a stranger.
I wonder how well Lila knows Melina. She did look like she thought it strange that Melina wanted to be a mother figure to her. But she was also surprised that Paulina was her friend, although setting up someone to get shot is hardly a friendship.
I looked at my recap and saw many typing errors. I try to catch them as I go. I change Rino to Tino many times each recap! And I hit the space bar instead of a letter. So I apologize for that. On a computer I can type, but on my iPad I use two fingers. Also, a heads up! I’ll do the second hour ofFriday’s episode sometime Saturday. I try to catch up with Monteverde on weekends. I’m looking forward to commenting on it soon. It’s a fun, relaxing telenovela.
Liz
Oscar wants to know if the mother wants her child back. The good priest can only answer that it is a very delicate manner and that is why he came to see him ASAP. Oscar wonders out loud what he ever did to deserve all of the things that are happening to him. The good father can understand and tells him to calm down. Oscar tells him if they take Moisés away from him, he will die. He could not take it. That boy is his life.
The good father tells Oscar that Moisés is legally his son. Nobody can take him away from him. Oscar wants to know every single detail about the woman that came to see him. The good father tells him that her name Erika and she is young. She had Moisés with a married man who was much older than she was. He was the one who made Moisés disappear telling Erika that he had been born dead all so that his wife wouldn't find out and to evade any responsibility for the child. This soulless man was the one who left the baby in a basket. Oscar thinks back to how he found Moisés and how he immediately bonded with him. He makes it clear that Moisés is his son as much as Franco is and nobody is going to take him away from him. The good priest doesn't know what to say to him or how these cases are handle. He does know that a mother has a right to be near her child. Maybe they could agree on a joint custody agreement of some sort. Oscar cannot not see ever sharing custody with a stranger. He will not share Moisés with anyone for any reason not even with a woman who says she is his mother. He doesn't care if she is a good woman or a bad one. It doesn't matter. Moisés will be staying with him. The good father understands how much of a surprise this is but it is a reality that Oscar has to face. He needs to think calmly about what he wants to do. He got her to agree to let him investigate so she wouldn't go asking around herself. Everyone in town knows that Moisés was found in a basket. As a matter of fact, she will be back and that is something that he cannot avoid. He reminds Oscar that Moisés has always dreamed of finding his mother and now she has appeared. Will Oscar deny Moisés that chance?
Mother Gustava is not happy at all that Carolina left the convent with only a note and not talking to somebody in person. Carolina explains that the Mother wasn't there she had something to take care of and now is back after only one night away. Mother Gustava informs her that her sister broke all of their congregation's rules to help her. She herself had to face Oscar in Monteverde to save the school. All of this was Carolina's fault. She was willing to help her when she arrived but then she left . . . just like that! Carolina can no longer stay at the convent. She doesn't care that Carolina has no money. She is sure she will come up with something. She will not let her son sleep on the street. Carolina explains that her son is in Monteverde with Celeste. She has come back to Mexico City to turn her self in on the advice of he lawyer so the police can start to investigate her case and she can prove her innocence. Although leaving her son was the most difficult thing she ever had to do, she had no choice. She cannot spend her life hiding from a crime she never committed. Mother Gustava changes her mind and decides to let her stay at the convent. She only wants her to keep her up to date with what is going on.
Carolina reminds herself she has to be strong and hopes she doesn't make any mistakes.
Moisés enters the dining room and asks Oscar if he can eat breakfast with him and Franco in the dining room or if he has to eat in his room. Franco looks surprised by his father's hugging Moisés, telling him he is no longer angry, that his punishment is over and to have seat at the breakfast table. Franco tells him he is one lucky kid. When he was his age, his punishments lasted the whole week. Moisés smiles and explains it is because he is the favorite child! Franco can only laugh. Franco asks his father if he is okay. In her search for her son, somebody told her somewhere that a baby was found in Monteverde. Franco asks what he will do if she wants to take Moisés away. Oscar cannot even think of that yet. He has to talk again with the good father. He will do that alone. Franco insists that nobody will split up their family.
Andrés is worried that his mother will be jailed. She tries to explain home confinement to him. That is what she is aiming for and to do it at the convent.
Oscar finds out from Andrés about Carolina having gone to Mexico City to take care of some problems. He asks if Andrés was talking to her. Andrés asks him not to get angry but he was. Moisés runs out to greet Andrés and asks Oscar to invite him to stay and eat dinner with them. Oscar invites him and Andrés accepts. Hugo will tell Sister Celeste where Andrés is and Oscar will take him back to the inn. Oscar has to smile seeing the boys run off to play together. He is going to talk to the good father.
The good father gives credit to the opening of the new hotel to Project Genesis which has renewed the whole town through the presence of women.
Moisés tells Andrés who quickly his godfather's mood changed and how he canceled his punishment. He wasn't angry anymore. Andrés says it could be that he realized that it wasn't such a bad idea getting together with his mother. Moisés wishes he knew but his godfather never talks about his feelings.

After giving Juan David his walkie-talkie, Cárcamo tell him he has to be like a fire fighter, ready to go at a moment's notice whenever he is needed.

Everyone asks why she would say that. Rosalía says she remembers when she started working on Oscar's ranch and started training the mare. Rosalía cannot make the connection between the two situations. Lucas blames it on Rosalía being tired. (Rosalía is allowing herself to be controlled by Lucas? Give me a break!!!) Lucía is clearly affected. Rosalía agrees it has been a long day and she and Lucas leave. Diego is wondering about the comment that Rosalía made, too. Lucía blames it on Rosalía being tired but the wheels in her brain are turning.
Carolina is arrested for aggravated fraud. ( Both she and her lawyer seem surprised? Is it because it is "aggravated"? )
Jarifa, your vivid descriptions and enhanced dialogue translations added another amazing dimension to everthing that transpired last night. Your ebb and flow is exceptional.
It was clear Oscar was devastated but reading "Oscar tells him if they take Moisés away from him, he will die. He could not take it. That boy is his life" showed he does indeed have compassion, certainly more than I gave him credit for. My heart sank a bit.
Still, Oscar thinks his word is law, the world revolving around him as the center of the universe. He still needs to learn that the wants and needs of others are to be respected and honored. "He reminds Oscar that Moisés has always dreamed of finding his mother and now she has appeared. Will Oscar deny Moisés that chance?" Facing a crisis of conscience and a moral dilemma, his actions will determine who he is as a man, as a father.
"The lawyer takes Padilla's card. It couldn't hurt to contact him." Finally!!
Like you Jarifa, I didn't understand the shock at Carolina and her lawyer's face at the end. They well knew she would be charged when she turned hersef in. I am sure you are right in that it must be that the charge was "aggravated" assault? Color me flummoxed...
It would make sense to have Moises' father be someone we know. But none fit the "profile" that I can think of.
Despite everything transpiring in his life, will Oscar come to Carolina's aid? I fear the home confinement may just be wishful thinking.
Another excellent episode. Jarifa, your time and efforts are so appreciated! Your words make sense of everything and are instrumental in putting all the pieces together.
I cannot wait for tonight!
Diana
Babachita and Kat, thank you for commenting.
Babachita, I liked your "The boys are such fun. Very different personalities that complement. They are devoted to each other and should end up as step-brothers". Indeed.
"Speaking of Moises, he is a great young actor. I've really enjoyed the scenes he is in"; I completely agree Kat.
Even though there are serious isses throughout, they are dealt with in a forthright manner and realistically.
The element of surprise is threaded throughout. I have no idea who Moises' father is, especially as it's clear he lied to Erika that the child had died.
Diana
First of all, thank you, Diana for your recap. : )
It seems that it took the possibility of losing Moisés to bring raging Oscar back to reality. What a welcome change! Anyway, the writers have done a good job with Oscar’s very real reluctance in taking the necessary action when it comes to contacting Moisés’ possible mother. What a nightmare for him!
I think that Rosalía should tell Lucía what is going on and let the chips fall where they may. They are best friends. Here is hoping Lucía seeks her out if Rosalía doesn’t have the gumption to do it on her own which is hard to believe. Rosalía could always give Franco a set amount of time to come clean (one, two days, erc.) before she tells Lucía herself. Lucía deserves the truth.
I am wondering if the charge of “aggravated” fraud comes with compulsory detention in a jail. Guess we will find out tonight.
Poor Juan David being on constant call!
Aggravated assault? Did Carlos claim she assaulted him. Wasn't that Oscar that hit him. I also was surprised that Carolina and the lawyer were shocked.
Thanks Diana and Jarifa. DNA test is definitely in order.
Jarifa, "It seems that it took the possibility of losing Moisés to bring raging Oscar back to reality. What a welcome change!" Amen to that!!
Lucas shouldn't try and silence Rosalia. I think Lucia will be very hurt if she finds out Rosalia knew the truth but didn't tell her. I may be alone in this but I think Franco did a nice thing. Yes, he should have been honest that it was he who did it but Lucia is so happy!
Kat, I typed "aggravated assault" by mistake. As Jarifa noted it's "aggravated fraud". My bad.
Diana
Oh my !!!Liz, thanks so much for hanging in there and providing us with all the details of the chaos. The writers have decided to torture us with awful new events until the very end. Melina ( Selena??) Is somehow everywhere all the time . She's been a busy bee...killed Hernan, disposed of the body, framed nasty Naz , and has now kidnapped Tino from the hospital. Wow !
It sure looked like Naz was going to kill Prisma, Serena, or both after Melina gave him the gun . One pleasant surprise was the police arresting him before he did. Will we get to see him in prison when those convicts won't tolerate his bizarre body and head movements and behaviors and goofy laughter??!
On a small note..Why does Lila always wear that tiny triangular scarf!?!? Weird.
So relieved that Iker is safe with his real mom , but how did she find him or be find her ?
Diana, I always !look forward to your interesting,well-written comments, Susan
Diana, I think Franco’s idea was sweet but only with a quick revelation of who Rizo-Patrón really is.
