#19 part 1
Rewind: Pelin tells Ferit she overheard the Sanli sisters at the restaurant and Seyran said she loves Yusuf. Let’s see if this lie will backfire on Pelin.
Fuat and Suna work side by side in the yali office. He thanks Suna for her help. He says she’s incredible. She answers, it’s nice to be very helpful to someone for the first time. I should be thanking you. Today’s work is finished. Tomorrow, we have a meeting with the lawyers, Fuat says. If you’re free, I can talk to your father. Suna says she’d be glad to help.
They start to clear away the papers and Suna knocks her coffee cup off the desk. It shatters on the floor and coffee is spilled. She relives the trauma of the engagement night. She bends to pick up the pieces and starts to sob. Fuat bends beside her—Suna? Are you okay? He tells her to leave it.
Fuat helps Suna up and takes her to a chair. He holds her hands as she continues to cry. It’s just coffee, he says, they will clean it up. He gets water for her. Then he wipes her hands. She’s still very upset. He holds her hands again. Do you feel better now? She sobs, I’m sorry for spilling the coffee.
Asuman enters the room. Fuat and Suna separate. Asuman tries to stay calm and asks, what happened? Nothing important, Fuat replies, just a small accident. Suna sniffles, I’ll go see Seyran, and she slinks past Asuman. Asuman asks Fuat for an explanation. I already explained, Fuat answers, there was a small accident. Suna was embarrassed and started crying. I helped her to a chair. You saw how she was crying. Asuman can’t believe there was such drama over a coffee. Fuat gets annoyed and tells her to get someone to clean this up.
Suna comes to Seyran’s room but doesn’t tell her what happened. Suna notes how things have changed, they even bring food to Seyran’s room. There’s food, Seyro says, but no appetite. Sometimes I remember how I used to live. We’d eat Dad’s leftovers in our little kitchen. In spite of everything, we were happy together. And here, now? The best food comes to my room, but what changed? I’m not hungry. I don’t eat anything. Nothing changes.
I think you are in a hurry, Suna advises, give yourself some time. Everything is new. We’ve been through so much. Now you’re here. You live in abundance. You have such a beautiful room and an incredible view. Seyro tells her she spends a lot of time looking at the view. Suna says it’s a start. Give yourself time. Getting used to this place will be easier than you think.
Seyran sighs, inshallah. Suna gives her sister a hug and Seyran asks her, are you hungry? There’s baklava. Suna goes for the baklava. Where’s dad, Seyro asks. I think he’s in the living room, Suna replies, as she stuffs herself with baklava. Seyro laughs. Then they head downstairs.
Kazim is with Halis. He says, ağa, people don’t stop talking. I know it was fate and not by intent. But you still should have picked my eldest for a bride. Halis agrees. Kazim continues, we couldn’t leave our house from shame. We packed our bags and came to Istanbul. I’m grateful for the temporary housing you deemed worthy of us. It’s beautiful. Thank you. But I don’t know if we’ll ever return to our hometown. What can I say?
Say what you want to say, Halis replies. My family, especially Hattuc, don’t like the house. You know our mansion. When we went up into that skyscraper, my aunt didn’t like it. Could we get a house instead? I already told my in-law (Orhan), and he probably told you. Aga, we want a house like we had in Antep. Don’t misunderstand me. I’d do it myself, but we’re strangers here.

Latif enters with Halis’ medicine. Halis asks him if he found a place for Yusuf. Yes, he will be with Carlos. Halis says to buy him clothes and give him a little money. Or we could send him on errands and he can buy clothes.
Kazim speaks up, I admire you, aga. You give your employees a home and money from your own pocket. Halis explains that Yusuf came to him for help. It was the right thing to do. He said he was a distant relative of yours. Kazim is surprised—who? A young man named Yusuf, Latif answers, he just arrived from Antep. He went to the same school as Seyran. Kazim looks puzzled.
Halis asks, do you know him? Kazim thinks… no, I don’t remember, but it’s possible. We have a lot of relatives. I’d recognize his face. Halis says that he’s a good boy. Latif tells Kazim Fuat and Suna have finished working and are waiting downstairs. Kazim excuses himself and kisses Halis’ hand. No idea what Halis is thinking after this convo.
Seyran and Suna come downstairs and spot Yusuf hanging around the door. Seyran is ready to confront him. Suna tells her to calm down. They head outside to talk. Suna tells Yusuf he’s driving them crazy. He threatens to tell everything. You can’t be seen with her, Suna says, but you’ll work in her house? And you stand at the door? Seyran tells him to leave as fast as he can.
Yusuf says Ibo is bringing him sheets and he was told to wait there. Seyro is ticked—you told them we were relatives? Suna and Yusuf argue. Lower your voice, Seyro warns, someone will hear. Kazim comes down the stairs and hears this. He looks out the window. He comes outside and asks—who’s going to hear what?
Kazim addresses Yusuf—you bastard! Who are you? Kazim steps on Yusuf’s foot. Who the hell are you? I think Yusuf tries to kiss his hand, but Kazim swats it away. Yusuf says, my father was Ali, the leather merchant. When I came to Istanbul, I asked Halis Aga for help. Oh… you used my name, Kazim notes, you said you were my relative, huh? Yusuf claims he’s a relative of Esme Teyze. Kazim grinds his foot into Yusuf’s.
Yusuf tries to explain more but Kazim interrupts... quiet! You’re a classmate of Seyran’s? Yusuf clarifies, we only went to the same school. Kazim asks, so can any of your classmates work here? How dare you come here! He turns to his daughters—did you help him do this? Are you trying to get killed?
Yusuf says that isn’t so. I swear I lied so Halis Aga would give me a job. They scolded me for it so don’t blame them. I’m in a difficult situation otherwise I wouldn’t be doing this. Ibo comes out with the sheets. Kazim backs off Yusuf’s foot. Ibo asks if there’s a problem. No problem, Kazim replies, we were just chatting with our cousin from Antep. He asks Ibo to bring the car for him. Ibo and Yusuf leave. Kazim tells the girls he will want a full explanation for this.
Back inside, Kazim tells everyone they are leaving. Fuat asks permission to have Suna work tomorrow. Kazim is still angry. He says he’ll think about it and will let Fuat know. [Wonder what awaits Suna at home.] Seyran is worried and Gulgun picks up on it. Seyran says she just needs to rest.

Ferit returns to the yali and there’s Yusuf, right in front of him polishing a car. Ferit looks around before grabbing Yusuf. He bends him over the car’s hood and puts his hand around Yusuf’s neck. I didn’t hit you hard enough, he seethes, do you want more? I won’t say this again. Pack your things and leave asap, or I’ll…
Or what, Yusuf answers, will you rat me out to your grandfather? Ferit tells him when the time comes, you’ll see. Ferit walks. Yusuf calls out, Seyran still loves me, and I still love her. We’re going to walk out of here hand in hand… and you’ll just watch. Ferit laughs, çok komik… keep dreaming. Your wake-up call is coming soon.
Ferit goes to the bedroom. Seyran is nervous and pacing. He asks if she’s okay. Did something happen? I’m fine, she replies. Of course you are, he snarks, your boyfriend is outside in the garage. Go be with him. You can talk about old times. She asks him to leave her alone. Leave you alone? I’m fed up with you and your sister blaming me, he says. Leave my sister out of this, she replies, your problem is with me.
Ferit says, your sister got involved. Seyran doesn’t understand. He explains, your sister attacked Pelin, as if you didn’t know. Seyran’s mouth drops. She mocks, oh poor baby wants to cry. Poor Pelin. Tell me, that shameless flirt had nothing better to do than slander my sister? You went with your girlfriend to do whatever you want and now you are telling me lies about it? Ferit wonders why they are arguing about this. Your boyfriend is downstairs. Go run to him. Isn’t that what you want? We know he came to look for you. Go with him.
Abidin brings Kazim and Suna home. Kazim gets out of the car and walks to the building. Abi opens the door for Suna. She’s trembling and is slow to get out. She falters and Abi catches her. He asks, are you okay? She looks terrified. There’s a tear. She doesn’t answer and starts walking. Abi looks worried. He calls Ferit.
Abi asks, did Seyran tell you if anything happened? No, Ferit says, what happened? Abi replies, this man is a psycho. I thought they were exaggerating but no. He didn’t say a word on the drive. Suna isn’t okay, she was trembling. I’m worried he will do something to her. Ferit says he’ll talk to Seyran. He tells Abi to come back to the yali and he will handle this.
Ferit goes to Seyran on the balcony. He asks, did something happen today? Abidin called me. He said your sister seemed upset when she got out of the car. Seyran starts crying. Ferit puts his hand on her shoulder. He crouches beside her. Are you okay? What happened? Tell me so I can help.
My sister spoke to Yusuf today, Seyran cries, my father caught her. Ferit asks, will he do something? Ferit knows the answer by Seyran’s look. Okay, he says, we’ll go to her. Seyran thinks it’s too late. Ferit leaves the balcony and Seyran sobs.
Esme opens the door for Kazim and Suna. Suna is shaking with fear. Esme wonders what’s wrong. Did something happen to Seyran? Suna is too scared to speak. Kazim grabs Suna by the hair. Tell me! Who are you protecting? Esme begs—don’t hit her! Kazim asks, who helped this bastard! Suna barely gets the words out—I swear I don’t know.
Kazim shakes her. What the hell were you talking about with a stranger, hiding in a corner? Suna cowers. He continues, do you think it’s your right to talk and question him? Do you want me to become a killer? He throws Suna to the floor.

Hattuc comes out and shouts—Kazim! What’s happening here? He shouts back—this girl is as disgraced in Istanbul as she was in Antep! Hattuc tells him to calm down. Someone will hear and call the in-laws again. Let them call, Kazim replies, I’ll bring the whole world down on them! Kazim’s phone rings. It’s Ferit. Kazim calms himself down to answer.
Ferit asks, Kazim Bey, are you home? Yes, Kazim replies, what is it? May I speak with Suna, Ferit asks, it’s important. Kazim says that Suna is unavailable. Tell me what you want to say. Seyran has been crying since I got home, Ferit says, I need to ask Suna why.
Seyran comes inside. She is surprised as she listens. I think Kazim is surprised too. He tells Ferit, how should I know? She wasn’t feeling well this morning. How would Suna know? Ferit asks, when are you returning to Antep? Kazim is stunned for a few seconds. What did you say? Why would we go? Ayip.
Ferit tells Kazim, every time my wife sees you, she gets scared. You think I didn’t notice? And now she’s scared for her sister. I’d like to know why. I’m their father, Kazim replies, you’ll understand when you are a father. Sometimes they love me, sometimes they respect me, and sometimes they fear me. Okay, Ferit answers, then why don’t you tell me what happened today? Did something happen that I need to know?
Like what, Kazim replies, if there was something, I would have told you. If it makes you feel better, Fuat told me he has a meeting tomorrow. Suna will be there. I’ll let her talk to you if it helps. Ferit says, okay, but I’d rather take both sisters out to dinner if it’s no problem and if you allow it. Kazim is not pleased but he allows it. Ferit thanks him and hangs up.
Seyran walks over to Ferit. He tells her not to worry. Your father can’t do anything to your sister today, and he’ll think twice next time. Seyran smiles at Ferit in gratitude. The girl who didn’t want to be touched leaps at him and hugs him tight! Her tears are from relief. Ferit is stunned. He doesn’t hug her back but he’s enjoying it. Seyran finally lets him go.
Ferit tells her he didn’t do this for her. It was to protect Suna. Seyran thanks him. But Ferit adds that he won’t help her with school. You talked to Yusuf behind my back, he says, and you should face the consequences. Seyro explains, my father was here. My sister spoke to Yusuf so my father wouldn’t see. I had to talk to him, understand?
Is that all, Ferit scoffs, you haven’t told me more lies? What about all you did before? Meeting with Yusuf. You forgot about that. She complains that he’s always repeating himself. I have to he replies, because you don’t behave. What happened downstairs was a clear example. Seyro repeats that she did this for her sister. Don’t you understand? Good thing you talked to him, Ferit snarks, congratulations. Both sisters are in great shape. And you’re upset that I’m still seeing Pelin. She fires back, okay, I’ll keep my mouth shut about that.
Go ahead and speak, Ferit says, don’t hold back. Fine, Seyran replies, then let’s go back to our deal. Stop seeing Pelin from now on, since you won’t help me with school. This nonsense again, Ferit says. Why? You can’t do it, she answers, it would kill you not to see Pelin every day.
Ferit asks, what does Pelin have to do with this? A lot, Seyran says. I won’t look at Yusuf or talk to him. I’ll do everything you say, and I won’t go to uni. And what will you do? Keep going on with your life like this never happened? Of course not. You can’t see Pelin from now on. It’s over.

Ferit tells Kazim, every time my wife sees you, she gets scared. You think I didn’t notice? And now she’s scared for her sister. I’d like to know why. I’m their father, Kazim replies, you’ll understand when you are a father. Sometimes they love me, sometimes they respect me, and sometimes they fear me. Okay, Ferit answers, then why don’t you tell me what happened today? Did something happen that I need to know?
Like what, Kazim replies, if there was something, I would have told you. If it makes you feel better, Fuat told me he has a meeting tomorrow. Suna will be there. I’ll let her talk to you if it helps. Ferit says, okay, but I’d rather take both sisters out to dinner if it’s no problem and if you allow it. Kazim is not pleased but he allows it. Ferit thanks him and hangs up.
Seyran walks over to Ferit. He tells her not to worry. Your father can’t do anything to your sister today, and he’ll think twice next time. Seyran smiles at Ferit in gratitude. The girl who didn’t want to be touched leaps at him and hugs him tight! Her tears are from relief. Ferit is stunned. He doesn’t hug her back but he’s enjoying it. Seyran finally lets him go.
Ferit tells her he didn’t do this for her. It was to protect Suna. Seyran thanks him. But Ferit adds that he won’t help her with school. You talked to Yusuf behind my back, he says, and you should face the consequences. Seyro explains, my father was here. My sister spoke to Yusuf so my father wouldn’t see. I had to talk to him, understand?
Is that all, Ferit scoffs, you haven’t told me more lies? What about all you did before? Meeting with Yusuf. You forgot about that. She complains that he’s always repeating himself. I have to he replies, because you don’t behave. What happened downstairs was a clear example. Seyro repeats that she did this for her sister. Don’t you understand? Good thing you talked to him, Ferit snarks, congratulations. Both sisters are in great shape. And you’re upset that I’m still seeing Pelin. She fires back, okay, I’ll keep my mouth shut about that.
Go ahead and speak, Ferit says, don’t hold back. Fine, Seyran replies, then let’s go back to our deal. Stop seeing Pelin from now on, since you won’t help me with school. This nonsense again, Ferit says. Why? You can’t do it, she answers, it would kill you not to see Pelin every day.
Ferit asks, what does Pelin have to do with this? A lot, Seyran says. I won’t look at Yusuf or talk to him. I’ll do everything you say, and I won’t go to uni. And what will you do? Keep going on with your life like this never happened? Of course not. You can’t see Pelin from now on. It’s over.

Esme takes Suna to her room.
Ferit is on the bed looking at his phone. Seyran is drawing at the table. Ferit gets a message from Gulgun. Grandpa isn’t coming to dinner tonight, we can eat in our room. Seyran says she’s not hungry. He says he isn’t either. He lost his appetite thanks to her and her sister.
Seyran doesn’t want to fight anymore. We made a deal. We have an arrangement. Ferit asks, do you think I’m happy we keep fighting every day? Why would we keep fighting, she asks in reply. Why do you think, he answers, do you think what happened today is normal? Your ex is working in our house.
Seyran mocks, so sorry, you’re right. As if everything was so normal before this. Your girlfriend came in over the balcony like some thief. But that’s normal, right? Ferit says he’s been honest with her from day one and told her everything. You’re like a broken record, Seyro laughs, “I’ve been honest with you from the beginning.” She adds, I’ve kept nothing from you. Everything else was out of my control. Don’t you see what Yusuf is doing is not normal? He’s mentally damaged. If he was okay, he’d see things clearly.
And what does he have to see, Ferit asks. Seyran replies, that I don’t want him in my life and our relationship is over. Ah, Ferit says, that’s not what you told your sister. Seyran looks up from her drawing. What did you say? What did I tell her? You said you still love him, Ferit answers, and you’re doing this for your future together.

Ifakat likes this. She says to take Fuat along. Ferit likes that idea and says that Fuat and Suna already have a meeting scheduled this afternoon. He adds that Asuman can join them, too. Ifakat quickly says, no, she can’t. I need to speak with her privately. Besides it would be good for Fuat to get away from his problems here.
Ferit asks, don’t you think Asuman will be offended? She won’t know, Ifakat replies, I’ll talk to Orhan. We will tell her that Fuat is at a business dinner. Okay, okay, yenge, I understand, Ferit answers. I’ll go before this conversation gets more difficult. He leaves.

That was quite the exciting episode. Thanks so much for the fine recap, dondi. I think I held my breath about half of the time the episode was on.
All these women have amazing eyes. Last night the camera zoomed in on Asuman's eyes as she was adjusting to seeing Fuat holding Suna's hand. And he did exactly the wrong thing. He should have continued explaining how Suna felt badly about breaking the coffee cup. Instead, guilty, he got huffy and walked out.
I liked Ferit the most I've ever liked him last night. It was because he SO skillfully put Kazim in his place. "When are you returning to Antep?" And it was said brusquely in a demonstration of the Korhan dominance. He backed Kazim into a corner. Kazim is awful, but he doesn't want the Korhan's to have any idea of how he treats his daughters.
I hope Ferit honors the most recent agreement. No Yusuf for Seyran and no Pelin for Ferit. I've had quite enough of Pelin.
I had a real Aha! moment when Ferit went to speak with Ifakat. He didn't come up with that bombshell at breakfast all by himself. Ifakat, the puppet master, set it up. Dondi, you perfectly described her. She's the "de facto lady of the mansion" and uses every opportunity to manipulate everyone.
And it clearly seems to me that she plans for Suna to give Fuat that baby she thinks Halis needs. I hate this aspect of the dizi. Asuman is a wonderful person. And I doubt Ifakat plans on a divorce, with Suna being the wife. I think she just wants a functioning set of ovaries, get the offspring, and send Suna back to Antep.

Episode #17 part 1
Thursday March 12, 2026
Show opens Lobo is at Antonia's house. Hugo shows up with file Ant asked for. Lobo hides. Ant takes a long time to answer the door (without saying just a minute or such) that Hugo worries she is in danger. Hugo looks around the house when let in, but fails to look in the bath or under the beds. Ant finally gets him to leave after a convo.
Lobo then shows Antonia a video showing Dante's housekeeper Sida alive and well with Lobo's business partner. He kisses her and leaves for Fer's father's house.
Antonia goes to the office and overhears Cruz talking to Dante on the phone re: Dante following Santi as Santi leaves the police station. Antonia falls Loni with a warning. Lobo gets a friend to distract Dante and put sharp nails on the ground for Dante to drive over. Santi gets away, hut he declines to join Fer and Lobo at Sr. Cuevas's house. Santi has had enough.
Cruz and Dante realize someone in the police station informed Lobo about Santi's tail. Cruz thinks Antonia but Dante says his crush wasn't the one. (I feared Hugo would be blamed.) However Dante dies actually suspect that Ant told Libo. He then puts a hidden camera in a three-ring binder in Antonia's office. Antonia then catches Dante in her office so he lies. (This is the scene you caught, Steve.)

Fer and Renata are still at Sr. Cuevas's house. Papa hasn't seen Fer for ten years, so he, not following the news, thinks Renata is Fer's daughter. They don't correct him because it's safer for Ren. Presumably papa's woman Lola doesn't follow the news either. Fer tells papa that another friend maybe two, will join them. Some flimsy excuse as to why. Papa is happy to have a granddaughter, so no fuss. Lobo does join them. Santi declines. (Steve - I think IIRC the Libo Fer phone call was just a catch-up. I'm not taking the time to re-watch.)
At Graciela's, Cócula suggests to Remedios that they hire his wife Magola to be housekeeper (and cook?). Her real job will be to spy on Graciela. Gracie receives another text from her deceased sister Miranda.

I agree with you on Asuman and Fuat. I wished he handled that better. But they are trying to deal with a terrible loss and the family isn’t exactly very supportive. This is the kind of stuff that can strengthen or break a marriage. We’ll see.

But the writers keep having Antonia doubt Lobo no matter what he comes up with. Yikes, I hope Dante isn't able to spy on a phone call between Antonia and Lobo. Dante is a nutcase. He's capable of anything.

Dante goes home and watches Antonia talking to Adela in her office via his spy cameras. Anta tells Adela they are being surveilled via a note and butters up Dante for the cameras.
Santi comes to Sr Cuevas' house. He tells Fer that he can't live without him. Fer tells Santi that they have to pretend to be just friends while they are at the Cuevas house.
Zahie the bar owner tells the Cruzitos to work with the Azufreritos on selling drugs or forget about selling drugs in her bar. If they cooperate, they will get protection. (And she will have something on Fiscal Cruz.)
