#34 part 1
Rewind: Seyran refuses to go with Ferit to meet the reporter. He threatens to tell her father about Yusuf.
Song: Yokluğunda/In Your Absence - Ali Atay

Ferit leaves the room and heads to the back of the yali. Seyran cries in the bathroom. Suna gets a text from Fuat: how are you? I was worried about you. Abidin has his phone out and composes a text to Suna: good evening, how are you? He erases it and pets the yali cat sitting next to him. Seyran goes out on the balcony and sees Ferit crying by the waterside.
Ferit wakes up in the morning and Seyran is already dressed. She asks, when do we go? He replies, where? I’ll go with you to talk to the guy, she says. He sits up, smiling. Really? She tells him don’t exaggerate, get up.
This is what I love the most about our relationship, he says, we’ve got each other’s backs, even when we argue. My dear Seyran, I knew you wouldn’t leave me halfway. Seyran answers back, yes, not after the threats to blackmail me. Ferit says, let’s get rid of that Taylan jerk first. Then I’ll tell you a secret. I promise you won’t hate me anymore. I’ll be better.
Seyran says okay. Ferit is surprised she didn’t put up a fight. He asks, where is this sudden kindness coming from? She snaps, what do you want? You asked for help, and I agreed. I’m tired of this, I want it over. Think whatever you want.
Halis asks Ifakat if Suna’s room is ready. Almost, she replies, we’re waiting for some furniture and she went shopping yesterday. Take care of that girl, Halis says, we don’t want to bring shame to their family. Ifakat promises and says, Seyran is a nice girl, but Suna is different. She can be trusted with both a husband and a house. I can’t lie, sometimes I get upset when I see her. I wanted her for our family. Halis considers this. Even though she’s not our DIL, treat her like one.
Latif comes in with Halis’ meds. Ifakat leaves. Halis asks Latif to call Hatice to see if she’s available. Tell her I want to talk to her about Suna. I’d like to meet somewhere. Latif doesn’t look so happy about it, but he says will do.
Seyfer wait in a restaurant. Abidin arrives with Taylan. Ferit assumes Taylan is ready to make a deal and not publish. Taylan nods, that’s what I wanted to talk to Seyran Hanim about. It looks like you’re aware of the situation. Seyran says yes, I think it’s a misunderstanding. Taylan agrees. Seyro answers, but people won’t think that when they see the photos. Ferit adds, you shouldn’t give much importance to it. It was an argument, nothing more.
Taylan asks, what were they arguing about? Seyran jumps in before Ferit can answer. Pelin is in that photo. She’s a friend of mine. Ferit looks shocked and then dismayed. Seyran continues, luckily my husband was there and was able to break it up. The other girl approached Ferit and my friend, Pelin, intervened. You know how friends feel about each other.
Taylan looks amused at this. He questions, Abidin Bey said the girls did not know each other. Ferit says that’s true. Seyran says the photos could be misunderstood. She places her hand on Ferit’s—my husband and I ask you to delete them. [I don’t think Taylan is buying the act.] He responds, is that what you say? Seyran replies, I don’t know what else to say. You don’t have to say anything, he answers smugly, I heard what I needed to hear.
#34 part 2
Seyfer wait for an answer about the photos, but Taylan thanks them and says he has another meeting to get to. They shake hands. Ferit quietly asks, what did you decide? I’ll think about it, Taylan says and leaves. Abi comes to the table and asks what happened. Ferit is angry. Taylan is going to think about it. Seyran says to stay calm, maybe Taylan will agree. Ferit doubts it.
Halis and Hattuc meet in an outdoor café. Halis starts, she’s a smart girl. I hope God gives her a good fate. Hattuc answers, she wanted so much to be your family’s bride, but it wasn’t meant to be. She suffered a lot. If we hadn’t come here, she would have wilted like a flower. Halis understands. Hattuc continues, they say that everything is for the best. I won’t lie, I didn’t want to come here but it was good for our Suna.
Seyran loves her sister, Halis notes, and Suna loves her. Hattuc says that Suna is used to staying at home and Seyran is interested in studying and is more adventurous. If Suna caused trouble, that’s why. She was like a fish out of water. Halis says, it’s not easy to adapt to a new reality and sacrifice our dreams. But that’s life.
Hattuc nods. At least Seyran is building a home with her husband. Everyone should have that, she says wistfully. They both look over the scenic view. Halis remembers, I sent you postcards of this view. Do you remember? How could I forget, she replies. I wanted you to visit, at least once, he says, just once. She answers, it’s not that easy, especially when there’s no one to hold your hand.
They are both getting emotional. Halis says, time… place… dreams… opportunity… Hattuc tearily says there was a time, and there was an opportunity. But it didn’t happen. I don’t know… that’s a question I haven’t been able to answer for a long time.
Halis turns away with tears in his eyes. He turns back—remember that necklace I sent you? The note I wrote for you? “the burden of fate will grow lighter when you wear this”. I felt the weight of my fate crush me, Hatice. That’s why nothing happened. There was no other reason. Hattuc replies, I waited 40 years to hear you say that, Halis.
Halis takes a jewelry box out of his pocket. It’s a bracelet. I’m placing all the dreams we shared in this box. Will you accept it, Hatice? It’s beautiful, she nods, thank you. They look out over the view.
Ferit tells Abidin that Taylan left without a word. He turns to Seyran, why did you have to lie? Why did you say Pelin was your friend? You asked me to convince him, Seyran replies, now this is my fault? Ferit answers, if he does any research, he’ll find you are not friends. You should have let me talk. Have you ever negotiated with anyone?
Then why didn’t you step in, Seyran asks, you just sat there saying nothing. You didn’t stop talking, Ferit says, I didn’t want him to suspect anything, so I stayed quiet. You’re shameless, she replies, you’re trying to blame me for this and you’re ungrateful. I did you a favor. Thank you, Seyran, he answers, but that reporter wasn’t convinced. He will dig further.
Seyran says she thought she could persuade him. Had you been more careful with your girlfriend, this wouldn’t have happened. Abi asks, what do we do now. Ferit tells him to just drive. Seyran asks to go home. Ferit nods.
Pelin is having coffee with a friend. Taylan calls her. The photo I took shows you, too, he says. I wanted to ask you a question before publishing the article. A friend of yours gave me your name. Pelin looks worried. We don’t hear the rest of this convo.
#34 part 3
The Korhans sit in the living room. They talk about the reporter. He hasn’t posted anything yet. Maybe he won’t. Ferit gets a call from Pelin. He tells everyone it’s a friend. He’s not going to answer. He’s not in the mood. Orhan says, good. At least you know this is serious. If that photo is published, we might have to make emergency plans for your future, Ferit. Ifakat advises, you’re both young. You need to get a hold of yourselves.
Ferit is ticked. How many times do I have to say I’m innocent? This isn’t my fault. You have to believe me. It is your fault, Ifakat replies, you went out without your wife. You’re newlyweds. It isn’t right. Gulgun agrees with Ifakat on that point. Ferit shoots back—since when are you on her side? Gulgun laughs. Seyran manages a slight smile.
Abidin comes in with news. The reporter called to thank Seyran for her honesty. He understands the situation and says he’ll act accordingly. Everyone is relieved.
Seyfer return to their room. He’s in full “Ferit Korhan” mode. Ferit Korhan fixed the issue! He’s a genius! Seyran calls him out—so you fixed it? Unbelievable. Listen, he replies, you know you lied. Even if it worked, it doesn’t change that fact. And how did I make it work, she asks. He circles around her and gets flirty. That’s your charm, he tells her, even our own people are on your side. She smiles, they just don’t want to be on the wrong side.
Ferit plays with Seyro’s hair. Okay, from now on, we will go out together at night. I need to tell you something. He admits, I was a jerk yesterday. I’m sorry. I would never tell your dad something that would hurt you. I know, she replies, that’s why I decided to help you. He’s surprised—then why did you argue with me? She says to let it go or they will start arguing again.
Seyran suggests they watch a movie. Ferit is delighted. He gets the laptop and hops on the bed. She goes to the couch. He suggests they watch “Mavi Boncuk” [the movie where he got the idea to roll Suna up in the carpet]. She says okay. Come to the bed, he tells her, we’ll stretch out and be comfortable. She’d rather watch on the couch. There’s a table here to stretch out and the couch is comfortable.
Ferit makes his case. You sit by my side at the table. You walk by my side. You can sit by my side on the bed. It’s the same thing. Come on. She sighs and gives in. He’s got the movie ready. Seyro says, there’s one more thing I wanted to tell you. But I don’t want you to get defensive and argue. I want you to trust me… and I want to trust you. I never lied to you, Ferit. Yusuf did. I want to move forward from this.
It’s okay, Ferit says, all that matters is the present. I’ve given it some thought. Even if it were true, I shouldn’t care. This wasn’t the answer she wanted. He asks her what’s wrong. She replies, if it were true? She gets up from the bed and goes back to the couch. I don’t want to watch the movie anymore. Don’t get upset, he says. Too late, she responds, you need to be more careful with your words. She picks up her phone.
Ferit is disappointed. We’re not watching the movie? You can watch, she says, I’ll listen to music. He sighs, I don’t want to watch either. The whole point was to watch together. He closes the laptop. Then he smiles—I’ll play you a good song. No need, she replies. There is a need, he says, music is life. Seyro playfully mocks, wow, spoken by the famous philosopher, Ferit Korhan. He laughs. They both search their phones and start the same song at the same time. No way! They dance and sing together. [let’s enjoy this brief pause in the marriage war.]

#34 part 4
Next morning, Kazim is at the breakfast table. He’s reading the paper. Suna serves him tea. She sees another paper on the table. She spots an article and photo. It’s Taylan’s. She tries to bury the paper under others. Kazim notices her. What are you trying to hide? An article?
Kazim reaches for the paper and reads: “Yalı Çapkını Gecelerde” (Kingfisher (womanizer from the mansion) in the Night). Ferit Korhan out on a memorable night. Orhan and Gulgun’s newlywed son was out. His wife wasn’t there when he broke two girls fighting over him. One of the two was Ferit Korhan’s ex-girlfriend, whom he defended.
Kazim exclaims--what is this? How dare you hide this from me? He grabs Suna. Hattuc and Esme come. Hattuc asks, what’s going on? He replies, read what your idiot niece was hiding from me. She reads and gasps. God help us! Kazim is livid. Suna tried to hide this humiliating article from me! Kazim looks for his tesbih. I can’t stay here, I’ll go crazy. He rants and blames them for this.
Latif takes the newspaper delivery, brings it to Halis’ room and places them on the desk. Halis says he will have breakfast in his room. Taylan’s article is on top of the pile, but Latif didn’t notice.
Seyran gets a message from Suna: Dad saw the photo in the newspaper. He’s on his way there. He’s fuming. Seyran gets Ferit from the bathroom. She shows him the message. She didn’t see it right away because her phone was charging. She panics. Ferit checks his phone. Taylan tried contacting him multiple times. He didn’t hear the phone. Ferit panics.
Seyran says they need to tell Orhan and we need to stop grandpa from seeing the news. They head to Ferit’s parent’s room and give them the bad news. Article was published in the paper and online. Orhan tells Ferit to find Ifakat. Gulgun looks at her phone. Seyran worries, my father found out, he’s on his way here. Gulgun calms her. We are with you. This isn’t your fault. We will protect you.
Ferit brings Ifakat. Orhan tells her the article was published, keep dad from finding out and tell Latif to come. Ifakat sends Latif to Orhan and goes to see Halis.
Latif asks Orhan what’s going on. Orhan tells him there’s a terrible article about Ferit that’s been published. Dad can’t read the newspaper. Latif says, I left the paper on his desk about a half hour ago. I hope he hasn’t read it, Orhan answers, go to him and make sure he doesn’t read it. Ifakat is with him now. Get the newspaper while she distracts him. Latif is hesitant, citing his loyalty to Halis. Please understand, Orhan replies, Dad’s not well. Could you live with yourself if something happened to him? Latif is uneasy but he agrees to do it. He glares at Ferit before he goes.
Yusuf is in the kitchen having breakfast when he sees the article on his phone. He shouts—no! And that sends Sefika and Sultan hurrying over to him. Sultan grabs the phone from his hands. Dicle and Carlos come over to see, too. Yusuf looks upset.
Latif quietly enters Halis’ room. Halis is at his workbench facing away from the door and Ifakat is by his side. She tries to keep Halis occupied while Latif tiptoes over to the papers on the desk. Latif is about to snatch the paper, when Halis turns and sees him. Latif? Poor Latif freezes. I didn’t hear you come in, Halis says. I didn’t want to bother you, Latif replies. Okay, Halis answers, Ifakat is going down for breakfast now. Can you hand me the newspaper? Ifakat and Latif look at each other.
#34 part 5
Sultan appears in the doorway and knocks. Halis tells her to come in. Kazim Bey is at the door, she says, he’s in a bad mood and wants to speak with you. Ifakat heads for the desk, grabs the papers, and holds them behind her back. Halis gets up. Is there a problem? I’ll be there in a minute. Ifakat manages to leave the room with the papers.
Orhan, Gulgun, Ferit and Seyran are there to meet Kazim. Ifakat joins them. Kazim waves the paper and asks for an explanation. What the hell does this mean? “Kingfisher in the night”. He calls Seyran over to him.
Ifakat steps up. What’s going on here? I’ll take my daughter, he answers, how can I leave her here after such a disgrace? What do you mean, Ferit asks. Kazim snaps back, quiet, Ferit Efendi! You’re the problem here. Orhan calmly tries to explain, it’s just some gossip. A misunderstanding. Let’s sit and talk about it, please.
There’s nothing to talk about, Kazim replies, where there’s smoke, there’s fire. Seyran! I told you to come here. Silence. Ferit looks at Seyran. She can hardly raise her head.
Halis enters. Kazim? Everyone turns to look at grandpa. Orhan approaches Kazim. He leans in and whispers, if my father sees this and something happens to him, you’ll be responsible for it. [there goes the mansion in Istanbul, buddy.]
Kazim quiets down. Halis asks Orhan, what’s the matter? What’s with this shouting so early in the morning? It’s like the marketplace here. Kazim speaks up, I hope you’re having a good day, Ağa. I was just talking with the in-law and we were too loud. Sorry.
Ifakat tells Halis, we have a situation. I’ll explain it in the room. Say what you have to say, Halis replies. She says this isn’t the place. Halis sneers at Kazim and turns to go. Ifakat follows. Orhan tells Kazim they can talk now. Kazim says he only kept quiet out of respect for Halis Ağa. Orhan tells him, you won’t fix anything by being so impulsive. Let’s talk. Gulgun adds, this is all a misunderstanding.
Kazim approaches Ferit. He rolls up the paper. Of course, we will talk about this, son. He taps Ferit with the paper. You’re playing with my daughter’s honor. Orhan calls him off. Should we sit? Your children are valuable, Kazim replies, but my daughters are, too.
Ferit speaks up—that’s an old photo, Kazim Bey. It was taken before we were married. Orhan adds, you wouldn’t listen to us.
Halis is furious. Ifakat tells Latif to get the meds ready. Forget it, Halis growls, tell me what is going on? Why is this man showing up to my house acting crazy? Latif! Ifakat! Speak! Ifakat starts to explain. There’s an article in the paper. What article, Halis barks. It’s about Ferit, she replies, I’ll look for it and show you. She rushes out of the room. Halis seethes.
And we are out.
Thanks so much, Anastasia. I really enjoyed your recap.
We are reminded that Cruz shot the killers of Gustavo de la Colina (and supposedly Miranda, something that is now in doubt) in the back of a pickup truck, egged on by El Az.
I agree. It's becoming increasingly difficult to figure out where the Good Guys are hanging out at any point in time.
The Bad Guys may not have seen the video of Miranda and Gustavo with the piece of paper. I could be wrong (not the first time for sure), but I think there were two videos. One of them is the one that, I think, Cocúla found in the safe. But maybe the other one was by Miranda, and she said that it would self-destroy after the first viewing. I have a memory of this. Not that my memory is always reliable. It seems to me that, if the Bad Guys knew exactly about Tio Raul and where the destination was, why would they need Lobo?
Episodes are running together in my mind. But at one point I thought Lobo told Graciela that El Az and/or Cruz ordered her sister and husband killed. But then she's tucked up in bed with El Az, having nightmares.
Yep, Leonor killing Guillermina was confirmed. We certainly thought so seeing her eavesdropping on Eugenio and Antonia. They let us think for a moment, based on the autopsy, that it could have been the experimental Alzheimer's treatment.
Thanks, dondi, for another very insightful recap. It seemed to me that Seyran changed her mind because she saw Ferit's crying from her high terrace. Such subtlety here; no need to spell it out.
I think Ifakat wanted Suna instead of Seyran because she sensed she'd be able to get Suna under her thumb. And, judging by everything we've seen, I don't think Ferit would have been happy with a submissive wife.
I'm still curious about why Hattuc and Halis didn't marry. Guess we'll have to wait.
Seyran and Ferit are constantly walking in a mine field. I was looking forward to Seyran sitting beside Ferit on the bed to see a movie. But, as usual, he said something (if it's true) that set her off. At least we got the dance!
Watching these dizis makes me grateful every day that I grew up where I did. I have been a free person my whole life, making my own decisions...some of them bad. I just feel like screaming when I see Kazim showing up saying he's taking Seyran away. BTW I loved the parenthetical expression: "There goes the mansion in Istanbul." Orhan knows exactly how to shut him down.
I’m sorry. This deserves a real detailed recap, but I have to rise early tomorrow. Anastasia, maybe you can expand.
There’s some tension between Adela, Hugo, and Adrian. Eugenio notices and talks with Adela about it.
Remedios tries to tell Plácido that Graciela has a thing for Cruz.
Cruz is very hostile with Adela at the Fiscalía. She gets in a dig about his being taken off the de la Colina case.
Renata wants Lobo and Antonia together. She overhears their conversation about how much they love each other and romps in, happy.
El Az works on Leonor. Sué tells Nacho that she chose Pablo.
Lobo learns about the exhumation of Miranda. [I’m confused. I thought she was buried in the back yard where Renata was coming to talk with her mamí.]
Of course, Sué isn’t getting an abortion. They never go there in a telenovela.
Renata asks if Eugenio will be her grampa when Lobo and Antonia get married.
Misael comes to see César. He’s definitely attracted to César, but fears what would happen if his macho father found out.
Cruz and Graciela are in bed again. She tells him El Az protected her. She also later tells him about Gustavo being her lover for years.
Lobo gets a message to go see Tío Raúl. The big twist is that there is no Tío Raúl. Miranda is alive. She tells him about surviving thanks to one Alejandro Antoni. She was in a coma for a while. She also says that Lobo is the only one she could entrust with Renata.
She tells Lobo about Gustavo’s crooked dealings. And that he was abusive. He wouldn’t give her a divorce.
Graciela and Cruz agree that no one, especially El Az, must learn about Miranda being alive.
Novelera: Thank you very much for the recap of last night's episode. My personal thoughts:
*Slippery Cruz & Buji Goldie Locks getting their freak on: What else is new LOL.
*No surprise that Slippery Cruz is openly hostile towards Adela.
*Misael & Cesar better watch their backs if & when El Az finds out.
*Why do I get the feeling there's more twists coming in this chaotic Telenovela ?
*Miranda is alive & well WOW. That was something which wasn't on my bingo cards.
*Percentage odds that Miranda will instigate something to busting up Lobo & Antonia ? 🤔
Episode #36
April 9, 2026
I am only going to comment and add to Novelera's recap above. I put the episode # and date in to have "for the record".
It was an episode with a major plot twist!
First, info on two smaller items. Sue told Nacho that she is back with Pablo to get Nacho to leave. Sue is never, ever, ever going back to Pablo.
Second, Cruz had a love nest apartment! And proved he wasn't impotent. I will say that while Graciela was lovey-dovey during the booty call with Cruz, we did see the scene in an earlier episode where she comments on how men use her, and how she will now use Cruz and Azufrero to get the treasure for herself.
The episode revealed that Miranda was not buried. (And I suspected as much - see my recap of episode #1). The exhumation revealed that someone else was buried in Miranda's plot. The DNA, etc. didn't match. Cruz would have gotten a permit to exhume the body, even from a private graveyard - and Hugo and Adela have access to the legal permits, so they knew Miranda's supposed body would be exhumed. Not a secret, Sr. Cruz. And good thing the body wasn't cremated. Cruz is worried that this mistake in identifying the body that was buried as Miranda's will jeopardized his career. Graciela is worried about her no longer having the legal right to the house and fortune. Gracie and Cruz think that Lobo and Miranda planned the body switcheroo.
The second big reveal is the Tio Raul situation. We wondered who would be Tio Raul, since there was no such blood uncle. As Novelera said, Lobo got a text message to go meet with Tio Raul by himself. Lobo shows up at a ritzy guarded door and is met by security taking his phone and gun. He walks in and sees Miranda, who he hasn't seen in 10 years. Miranda tells her story. She was shot. (We did see her get a little distance away from the SUV ambush in ep #1.) She was able to text Berta with the "take Renata to Lobo" message they had rehearsed because Miranda knew she was living in a dangerous situation. At some point, she contacted her old friend Alejandro Antoni, an old friend of hers. (No details given on how she left the shooting sight without being detected and fast, while still being injured. And another similar body was left near the crime scene and later buried.) She has been staying with Alejandro (whom we didn't see) while she recovered, and because people were still trying to kill her. She said she left Renata with Lobo because he was the only man she could trust to risk everything to keep a promise. (And I still really think there was a second reason.)
Another plot twist is that Miranda and Alejandro could keep tabs on Renata because a camera was hidden in Tato, the stuffed animal. This is how Miranda could send texts with current details. (I think Mir said that Alejandro also kept tabs on Lobo in prison, but I don't know how.)
Miranda said she wanted a divorce from Gustavo. He was violent to her (as well as to Graciela). Miranda stayed for Renata's sake. Lobo reaches out to Miranda and they hug. End episode.
