Wednesday will be the NFL season kickoff game in a rematch of the New England Patriots at the Seattle Seahawks. The game starts at 8:20 Eastern. Telemundo will be broadcasting in Spanish. Telemundo will have a pregame period starting at 8pm Eastern. Extrapolate that to your time zone. I don't know what they are showing on the west coast after the game.

Series 2, episode 39
"La separacion es inevitable"

The episode opens with a rewind of the end of Boran's hearing. Cihan and Alya's marriage is declaraed null and void, and Boran's marriage with Alya is restored as valid. Cihan reaches for Alya's hand as he turns to leave the room. Alya smiles and gives him her hand. They leave together. Ecmel shows up in the courthouse hallway afterwards. Boran makes a scene in the hallway. Boran tells Cihan to let go of Alya. Alya tells Boran (again) that she will divorce him. Sahin and Kaya restrain Boran. Ecmel gets in a shouting match with Sadakat. Ecmel repeats his support of Boran.

Back at the mansion, Cihan and Alya now have to explain things to young Deniz. Alya is afraid Deniz won't want to leave the mansion to go with her to the ranch or farm. In that case, Alya will have to stay at the mansion.

At the mansion, they all argue again about where Deniz will live. Cihan and Alya take Deniz to Cihan's room to talk to him. Deniz gets upset about the divorce and runs out. They worry that he has run up to the terrace on the roof. Everyone looks for Deniz. Eventually, they realize he has locked himself in the washroom near the family living room. He is very upset. Alya is finally able to get Deniz to come out. Deniz asks if Cihan and Alya will get back together. Boran says no, they won't. Alya says she will explain everything to Deniz when he is older. Deniz decides to go with his mother. Boran tries to get him to stay. As Alya and Deniz head to the door to leave, Kaya helps to hold Boran back. More suitcases come out of the mansion. Standing by the SUVs, Boran volunteers to take Deniz to the farm. Cihan insists that Pakize ride in the car with Deniz and Boran (to avoid any funny detours). Cihan and Alya follow in another SUV.

The show spent a lot of time with Boran, Alya and Cihan repeating the same arguments over and over again. That's true to life, but made for a tedious episode.

The episode switches to Demir. Demir visits some room in the hospital. It's the neonatal unit. He visits Zerrin's daughter! (Not on my bingo card!) I believe, if I understood correctly, she has the typical under-developed lungs of a premie. She was seven months along. (With medical care, her lungs should continue to develop the alveoli air sacs.) Demir says to himself that he is going to save this girl. Probably the phone call Demir made yesterday to a cousin had something to do with this baby. Does the cousin work in the hospital? Or the funeral home? (Who, if anyone, was buried?) Zerrin did not get the chance to hold her deceased baby, as sometimes happens. (So we have the repetive plot device of a dead person who is alive. Also, we have the extreme cruelty and obsession of Demir in taking away Zerrin's baby.)

9-7-2026, S2 E39 - Part 2

The scene shifts to Cihan's office at the business. Cihan is meeting with Sahin and Kaya and Hassan. Nadim barges in, saying to Cihan "You kept part of my shipments". Cihan reminds Nadim that Nadim did not take Cihan's 50/50 deal. Instead Nadim changed his declaration in order to free Boran due to Ecmel. Nadim lies and says that the reason he changed his original declaration to free Boran was because Ecmel threatened Nadim with death. Then Nadim says to Cihan "You look bothered. Does it bother you that Boran is now married to Ms. Alya?" Alya walks into the office then. Nadim says "Isn't Boran married to Alya again? Everyone knows that you want Boran in jail so that you can stay married to Alya". The guys chase Nadim out of the office. Hassan directs Nadim down the stairs.

Alone in the office, Cihan and Alya talk about how everyone in town knows their business. Cihan says he will continue to wear his wedding ring, But Alya gives her ring back to Cihan so people won't think it's Boran's ring.

Zerrin and Nare arrive at the office with Erol. Erol teases that divorce is in season in Albora. If anyone else wants one, he is running a special. Nare speaks up, "If you are going to stay mad, Sahin, let's sign up." Everyone wonders what that comment was about. Nare says that Sahin doesn't want her to work. Zerrin and Alya get down to business signing powers of attorney for the divorce petitions, to get the cases started. Alya smiles at Cihan and Zerrin smiles at Kaya. Kaya says hopefully there will be a double wedding in the future. - End episode.

*Consuelo & Isidro working together along with Los Casillas in trying to find Leo, who was kidnapped by Cifuentes's henchmen.

*Leo still alive, but he's tied up & held prisoner at the Cifuentes compound.
We see Dalila & Armamdo getting married.

*Slippery Mauricio admits to Gullible David that he killed Daddy Dearest & will kill anyone else, who gets in his way.

*Alfaro's henchmen ambush the wedding ceremony of Dalila & Armando by opening fire on everyone in sight.

*Fernando Garcia (the security guard) & Julieta (Armando's daughter) likely are dead. Mauricio is pissed off when he learns Constanza is still alive.

Thank you, Anastasia, for the recap! I was not expecting that Zerrin's baby was alive. Is no one above being bribed there? Demir is demented. Does he not think that he could be killed for that?

I wish the pacing went faster. We all get.the picture: Boran is nuts and Cihan and Alya love each other. Time to move on. ¡Ándale!

Martes Part 1 of 3

Wow! Tonight's episode is not sitting well with me. We are treated to two awful, obsessive men using a child to get back a woman who doesn’t love them.

Sahin keeps, as my granny used to say, showing his heinie. After the divorce papers are signed by Alya and Zerrin, he starts griping about Nare taking a job at the hospital. Cihan and Alya gang up on him, and he reluctantly gives in. Alya thanks him, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

Kadir approaches Cihan to say they’ve been invited to a new club. The place is hosting a Syrian night. Cihan and Alya decide to bring Deniz. This is another happy scene, softening us up for later blows. Fidan, Kaya, Zerrin, Sahin and Nare are also there. Deniz has a mike in his hand and sings badly. This is interrupted by a call to Alya from Boran. She leaves the table to answer it. He’s snarling about having received the divorce papers. He gets weird about hearing background noises. Alya tells him to leave her alone. She doesn’t want to see him. She hangs up.

The big baby runs up to the balcony to tell Sadakat that Akya might be enjoying herself. Then he asks if everything is ready. Uh oh. Gurgun has climbed the stairs and tells Sada that what she’s doing isn’t right. She’s furious that Boran told him “the plan”. Gurgun repeats that this is a bad thing, and she looks a bit contrite. Boran tells him to shut it. Then he tells Sada, when she rags on him some more about telling Gurgun, that Gurgun’s contacts make the plan possible. They leave and Sada, alone, does a little Shakespearian soliloquy, trying to convince herself she’s doing the right thing.

The happy evening at the new club is interrupted by Demir.

Whoa! Boran tells Gurgun that, if he backs out of helping him, he’ll tell the Bulgarians where Gurgun’s daughter is. She’s in some prison. And the Bulgarians will find her. Gurgun won’t be able to arrange her escape. [If I were Gurgun, I’d be seriously regretting keeping this jerk alive.]

At the club Sahin tells Demir to leave his sister in peace. With his resting gloat face in place, Demir says Zerrin will want to return to him. It takes several guys to restrain Kaya. Demir gets an opportunity to perfect his evil laugh.

Everyone's gone home, and Cihan calls Alya from the mansion. They each say how much they love each other. Alya tells Cihan that the war they’re involved in is awful, but moments like tonight are precious.

Cihan then sleeps on that green chair where Alya spent many a night, after assuring Alya he would not sleep on the sofa. He has a dream. [I once again mute my TV so as not to hear the wretched Me estoy doliendo. Alya and Cihan are in a snowy field. [Rather like the one we see later.] They are embracing. There’s a shot. Alya is shot. Cihan lowers her to the ground and sobs. Cihan wakes up from his nightmare and goes out to stand on the balcony, looking haunted.

Martes Part 2 of 3

Sadakat and her waste of space firstborn are plotting in his room. She tells him not to make her wait when she calls him. She goes on to say they’ll be finished if Cihan finds out.

Some doctor is showing Nare around the hospital. She runs into Alya in the corridor, and they embrace. Nare is then shown into her office. Sahin shows up, and Alya gives him crap about his jealousy. He leaves to buy Nare some flowers. Nare barely warms the seat in her office when Dr. Yalcin shows up with a huge bouquet. Whoops, Sahin also walks in with a smaller bouquet. Fidan and Zerrin have arrived to congratulate Nare. Fidan erupts about a man who’s not Nare’s husband having bought her flowers. Sahin finds out the flowers were from Yalcin and leaves with a sour look on his face.

Demir gets a call that the premature baby is going to make it.

Sadakat comes to see Ummu in the kitchen. She tells her that she wants Ummu to help with some changes in the “cave”. [Is this the same place where they had comatose Boran?] If it was that place, it’s completely changed. Sadakat has insisted that Ummu leave her phone in the kitchen. Ummu sees food and drink there and questions it. Sada tells her they are so she won’t be hungry or thirsty. She locks Ummu in.

Sadakat shows up at the farm where Alya and Deniz have moved in. Muzaffer and Pakize exchange worried looks. She embraces Deniz and fusses over him. When the boy runs toward his pony, Sada tells Muzaffer that Ummu is not well. She wouldn’t listen and go to the hospital. Of course, Muzaffer can’t reach her by phone. He and Pakize leave. Some guards remain there. Sada calls Boran to come.

Pakize is worried, and she calls Alya.

Zerrin is putting flowers on the grave of her child. Demir is lurking around the corner and calls her. [People in dizis and telenovelas never listen to me and let villains go to voice mail.] Zerrin picks up. She rants at him some. But he tells her that the baby in the tomb is not her child. [Yikes! Did he kill a baby?] He ends up telling her to go to an address he’ll send her. He’ll be waiting. Then he calls Idiot Ipek to tell her to buy another wedding gown, since she’ll be marrying soon.

Alya comes to the house at the farm, sees Sadakat and asks for Deniz. She’s told he’s not there. Alya, looking frantic, searches the house. Sada tells her to be calm. She’ll take Alya to Deniz. She asks for Alya’s phone and leaves it on a table.

Martes Part 3 of 3

Muzaffer breaks in and frees Ummu. She says she doesn’t know why Sadakat locked her in. Muzaffer says he does know why. He calls the guards at the farm. They tell him Boran took the child. And that Alya left with Sadakat.

Muzaffer calls Cihan to let him know what’s happened. Cihan tells Kadir to speed up.

Alya tells Sada in the moving vehicle that she won’t be separated from her son, nor from Cihan. Sadakat tells her that, when it comes to a child, nothing else matters. [This from the woman who’s tried over and over to make each of her children, with the possible exception of Boran, miserable.]

Boran is with Deniz in some snowy expanse. Alya runs to her son and tells him they’re returning to the farm. The kid doesn’t want to go with her. A helicopter arrives. Alya grabs Deniz’s hand and shouts: “What’s happening?” Sadakat tells her not to worry. Her son is taking her grandson for a helicopter ride. Deniz starts begging. Alya tries to grab Deniz, but the kid is determined to have that helicopter ride.

Sadakat has Gurgun take Deniz to the helicopter. Boran grabs Alya so she can’t get to Deniz.

Sadakat says that she has the boy’s passport. The helicopter will take Boran and Gulgun to Istanbul. And they’ll go to a country where you’d never find them. She orders her to get on the plane.

Alya is aghast. What crazy thing are you doing? She turns on Boran. What kind of man are you? You’re una escoria (scum, vermin). He just stands there, expressionless as always. Alya begs Sada not to do this. Doesn’t this bother your conscience. What kind of mother are you? Sada gets angry and replies that she’s a mother who would risk everything for each of her children. She goes on to say that she told Alya time and again to go. You were the disaster of my sons. You’ve destroyed my family. Your only option is to go with Boran. If not, you’ll finish us. Take your son and leave.

Alya, crying, begs them both not to do this. Boran puts out his hand. Let’s go. When she doesn’t take his hand, he starts walking and orders her to follow. Alya begs Sadakat one more time. Then she walks toward the helicopter, ignores Boran’s hand and looks inside the helicopter.

Big cliffhanger here. Everyone please remember we don’t discuss those little scenes after the current episode ends that are supposed to whet our appetites.
 

Lejos - Novelera - When Telemundo has the big cliff hangers, they only repeat the last impactful scene in the cliffhanger for the "preview". They don't tip their hand. The real problem is that we have to wait until Thursday for the next episode. The NFL season opener is being simulcast on Telemundo in Spanish tonight. (Good - I can catch up on my novel or Masterpiece Theater, which they inexplicably started over the Labor Day travel weekend.)

Thank you, Anastasia. Great recap. Nice asides.

I wonder why CihAl thought Deniz wouldn’t understand a slightly more detailed explanation of their separation. What’s wrong with saying they needed to sort out some issues related to Boran’s return first? Instead, the kid was told you’re too young, we’ll tell you when you’re older. I can’t blame the kid for being ticked. I never liked such explanations when I was young.

I had a hope/suspicion that the baby didn’t die. Then I saw the funeral and was disappointed. But then Demir came through for me! I won’t question how he managed it. I’m sure that Zerrin and Kaya will be reunited with their baby soon enough. The writers can’t be that cruel.

Sahin and Ecmel return to the konak after the hearing. Zerrin and Fidan ask how the hearing went. Ecmel immediately answers it went very well. Your brother Boran got his wife and son back. The ladies disagree on the result and of course, so does Sahin. Sahin says that what Boran is doing is immoral and Ecmel is using this for his own benefit. Ecmel accuses Sahin of being jealous of his “new” sibling and worried that Boran will supplant him as heir. Fidan says that Ecmel has ruined his children’s lives. Try being a good father and husband for once. Sahin says he won’t fall for Ecmel’s tricks and he hopes Boran won’t either.

Another edited kitchen scene! Ummu tells Pakize a child’s place is with his mother. Muza, Kadir and Cihan enter. Cihan tells them that Alya will go to the farmhouse and Deniz is going with her. They are relieved. He wants Pakize to stay with them. He doesn’t know how long the divorce will take, so she might be away for a while. Pakize is okay with that, but Kadir doesn’t look pleased and says, “olmaz” (can’t be), how will that work?

Muza is ticked—oh, here we go again! What’s wrong with you Kadir Efendi? Go ahead Pakize, dear. He tells Kadir that he will stay at the konak. Kadir asks, but who will protect Alya? Muza blows up, I’ve been pretending to ignore this for quite some time! But Kadir Efendi is obsessed with Pakize!

Cihan looks a bit baffled and frustrated. Kadir tries to defend himself. He tells Cihan he’s not objecting… Muza shouts, stay on topic! Pakize, why haven’t you gotten up? Kadir claims the topic is protecting Alya. Muza replies, I’ll protect Alya, you stay here! Cihan puts his hand to his head. Please give me the answer I need, he says, is Pakize coming? Muza answers, of course. Pakize nods yes. Muza adds, but Kadir stays here. Cihan sighs and shakes his head and utters, bismillah (in the name of Allah) and leaves.

Kadir asks Muza to come outside to talk. Muza is furious and doesn’t want to talk. He turns to Pakize, this is no joke! Kadir will stay here, understand?! Ummu defends Pakize. Why are you yelling at my daughter? If you have a problem talk to Cihan Bey. Muza says he’s not shouting and goes.

Zerrin opens a box of baby things and cries. Kaya calls to see how she’s doing. She cries, I’m not okay, but I will be. We will be, won’t we? He replies, they will be. She mentions Cihan and Alya. Kaya laments, have we ever had an easy day? Nare comes up on the terrace and listens to Kaya. He tells Zerrin, I’m going to the company now. Nare will come pick you up. We will discuss the divorce.

Nare and Kaya hug. She tells him getting divorced isn’t easy. Both Alya and Zerrin have a long journey ahead. Be patient. Sadakat comes down to the terrace and interjects, be as patient as you need to be. Resist as much as you want. You won’t be able to get these women. Kaya and Nare leave without responding.

Nare comes to pick up Zerrin. Fidan is drinking coffee. She asks Nare, what if you stayed home one day, made this coffee, and put it in front of me so I can see how you measure it? Nare doesn’t answer. Zerrin comes out of her room, ready to go. Nare asks, where is Sahin? Fidan talks about Sahin being stressed out. Sahin enters. He asks what’s happening at the Albora konak. Nare tells him Alya went with Deniz and she’s going to file for divorce.

Fidan is more concerned with Zerrin’s status. I want to think positive, she says, but that husband of yours is bound to cause trouble. I’m scared. He’ll find something to corner you with. He’ll find a hole and crawl in. Sahin asks his mom not to be so negative with Zerrin. Fidan answers back, mothers speak!

Nare tells Sahin they are going to the company to meet Erol about the divorce. Sahin sort of grunts an okay and barely looks at Nare. Fidan picks up on this and asks, what’s wrong? What happened to that dazzling energy you had? Nare explains it has to do with her working at the hospital.

Zerrin congratulates Nare. She asks her bro, what’s wrong with that? Fidan tells her not to interfere. It’s what Sahin wants. He wants a child. She questions Nare about this. They start to argue. Sahin shuts it down. It’s tense. Zerrin and Nare leave. Fidan tells Sahin he shouldn’t keep quiet about this. He sighs and leaves.

I’m still backed up from my trip. I’ll catch up on #40 later since we have the night off.

Trying again. Thinking of the Monday episode- thank you so much for the recap Anastasia! I was thinking we were running out of story and that the show was winding down. And then we saw the baby was alive! Great plot twist! Love it!

Now on to Tuesday. Really enjoyed your recap Novelera with all the funny bits.

This was a shocker. What will happen to Alya? Where is her passport? They keep saying Boran isn’t the Boran de antes. We can only guess what he was like. Great catch Alya wouldn’t have married him unless he had a lot going for him. Now he’s weird in the extreme. Would she be safe with him? Could she get raped or even murdered?

Great acting on the part of the Sadakat actress. And did you notice in one quick shot by the helicopter that we glimpsed an actual modern city with tall buildings in the background? Before we’d always had vast emptiness and a few historic little cities.

A few other things: snow! The actors sometimes wear light clothes and sometimes warm ones but they never sweat or shiver making me wonder what season they’re shooting in. Now we know definitely winter now.

Nare shows up at work her first day in the same pencil-thin stilettos Alya wears. I worry! My stepdaughter fell off her high heels and broke her leg in three places. She now has a rod in her leg. The tiniest misstep and you can go down. Alya often has to clamber around the landscape in hers.

Boran complained Monday that he didn’t have anyone. What is Gurgon, chopped liver? That poor man gets no appreciation.

The noche de Sira looked like a blast. I’m thinking the Turks have more fun than we do.

Thanks, Maggie, for your comment and your questions. Yes, I hadn't thought about Alya's passport. I remember she kept hers and Deniz's in a sort of safe in that bedroom that adjoined Cihan's office. If she packed her things and moved into the farmhouse (a very nice, comfy farmhouse) you'd think she'd have both with her.

I have noticed people's breath steaming lately when they're out on that balcony. Since I moved to California and even stopped cross-country skiing some years back, I get a bit of nostalgia for snow. Not enough to move back to Ohio, though!

I am just SO over the Boran actor. Most here have commented he seems to have the emotional range of a guppy.

Wow, Sadakat has serious regret about what she’s planned. [Edited scene below.] But the witch went through with it anyway.

Please, Bulgarians, hurry. Come get rid of Boran for us. I do feel sorry for Vurgun, though.

Yalcin should know better than to give Nare flowers. Is he not from Mardin?

About the “sıra gecesi”: it’s a traditional folk music and food gathering in this area of Türkiye, specifically from Şanlıurfa (Urfa). People take turns hosting these nights. It is not a Syrian custom. If you watched “Karsu” on Univision, there was a sıra gecesi scene. Google it if you want to know more.

Cihan was hesitant about going sira night. Kadir had to do a bit of coaxing. He told Cihan, the host is Nusret Bey. By the way, he buys half our yogurt supply for his restaurant. In other words, it’s necessary to go. Ha, Kadir asks if Pakize will come. Cihan says yes but he warns Kadir that her parents will also come.

And of course, they edited the sıra scene. The Albora party enters. Cihan explains to Deniz what it’s about. Kadir parks himself in the seat next to Pakize and Muza parks himself next to Kadir. Rakı is quickly poured. Alya wants just a little. Muza warns Kadir to go light. I thought he’d try to separate them, but he just glares at Kadir. Kaya sits next to Zerrin, Fidan scolds them when they hold hands under the table. She says she’s not there to have fun. She’s on duty.

The singer finishes his song and the crowd applauds. He looks at Kaya and asks, how about a nice Mardin folk song tonight for the sister-in-law (Zerrin)? Fidan snaps at Kaya, what is this guy talking about? You come around here on the sly and sing folk songs? Kaya quickly answers that he (the singer) must be confused. He tells the singer to sing one, and they'll join in. Cihan explains to Alya that Kaya brought Zerrin here before and he sang to her. [I had to think about that and remembered this happened very early in the dizi.]

Drinking continues and everyone loosens up and starts to have a good time. Deniz starts singing along to the folk song, Mardinli Güzel Yarim/My Beautiful Sweetheart from Mardin. [How does this kid know all the words?] Someone brings a microphone and gives it to Kaya. He sings to Zerrin. Fidan tries not to smile. Kadir downs a glass of rakı when Muza isn’t looking. Deniz asks for the microphone. Alya sends him under the table to sit between Kaya and Zerrin. Deniz sings. That’s where we came in.

But there are more cuts! Kadir gets philosophical. He tells Muza, oh these folk songs, they either wound you or heal your wounds. Muza coolly replies, so how is that medicine? Kadir says the sound just enters you. And who is this medicine for, Muza asks, for whom do folk songs provide solace? Kadir curbs his enthusiasm and says, it’s just a general thing. Pakize is smiling.

People start to dance. Fidan makes sure she’s between Kaya and Zerrin. Cihan jokes, hold on tight, auntie! Kadir removes his jacket. Muza won’t get up to dance and won’t allow Kadir or Pakize. Kadir makes an urgent appeal to Cihan. Cihan waves his hand at Muza to get up. Muza can’t refuse the boss. Pakize lifts her father up and Muza tells Ummu to come. Deniz dances between Nare and Sahin. Cihan wonders how Deniz knows all this. Alya smiles, my son was born for a sıra gecesi!

Dancing continues and Fidan takes the handkerchief and the lead from Sahin. A singer holds a mic up to Deniz and he starts singing again. A man taps Muza on the shoulder, and he drops out of the line to warmly greet the man. This allows Kadir and Pakize to join hands. It doesn’t last long, though, Muza breaks them apart in seconds. This is where Alya gets the call from Boran.

Sıra night continues. Men are playing a game. They balance a glass of rakı on their heads. Pakize turns to Kadir, look how beautifully they do this. Muza agrees. Kadir says he can do it and gets up with his glass. Muza tries to stop him. Kaya encourages Kadir. Muza tells Kadir, okay, let’s see what happens. Go ahead and pour the raki over your head. Cihan gives his approval.

Kadir places the glass on his head and slowly starts to dance the Reyhani. Pakize is impressed. Everyone holds their breath, watching. Is that a wobble? Kadir issues a challenge to Muza, you said I couldn’t do it. What about you? Muza gets up with his glass. Ummu looks worried. Muza states the most important thing is balance. He faces Kadir and places the glass on his head and starts to move slowly. People gather around them. Sahin thinks they are not doing the dance properly. Cihan jokes, don’t drop it.

A singer comes over and starts talking about betting on who will drop first. Maybe put some money on it. Deniz thinks that Muza will drop.
