La Traición, Fri, June 20- Dr. Dan, Alcides and Antonia want Soledad's forgiveness; Alcides and Arturo exchange threats; Hugo takes a pointless trip

Do you recognize these boots, Judge?

Andres says Michelle never returned from San Marino

Hugo wonders where Michelle could be

Manuela, Dr. Dan's greedy wife

Alcides makes 'promises' to Arturo

Soledad asks if Antonia has spoken to Dr. Dan. She says yes, he told her everything. She says that Dr. Dan is in a bad way. He is destroyed at the thought of never seeing her again. Soledad says that Dr. Dan deceived her. Antonia replies that there are lies and then there are lies (‘Hay mentiras de mentiras’). There are white lies, there are innocent lies that are told for love to keep from losing someone you love. There are black lies that hurt and destroy. Antonia says that Dr. Dan is a wonderful person. Soledad won’t find another man like him. But Antonia says that she doesn’t want to influence Soledad’s decision. She should rest, sleep and clear her thoughts. Tomorrow is another day.

The judge asks why Arturo has asked to see him so early in the morning. Arturo says that he wants to open a new investigation into the kidnapping of Soledad’s daughter. The judge asks if this is a joke. Arturo is the principal suspect in the investigation. Arturo says that he wants to open a new investigation in which the principal suspect is - the Judge. The Judge is annoyed. He demands an explanation. Arturo produces the judge’s boots and asks if he recognizes them. Arturo says that these boots leave the same prints as those found at the crime scene. If he is being accuses simply for wearing military boots with these types of soles, then every man in law enforcement in San Marino should be accused as the principal suspect starting with the judge.

Soledad receives flowers. She thinks they must from Daniel. Ursula opens the box and reads the card: Dear Soledad: There is no excuse for what I have done. (‘no tiene perdón ni de Dios, ne de los hombres,’) I only ask that you give me another chance. I love you.
Soledad says that she knew it was Daniel but Ursula says no, the card is signed, Alcides de Medina.

Hugo has arrived at Michelle’s house and is greeted by Andres. Andres says that he got Hugo’s telegram. Hugo asks him to tell Michelle that he is here. He has brought her a special gift he knows she will like.

Ursula says that the flowers from Alcides must be poisoned. Soledad says that Alcides is very stubborn. He will do any thing to prove his love. Soledad says that last night Eloisa told her something that got her thinking. Ursula says that Soledad shouldn’t believe too much that Eloisa says. Soledad says that Eloisa told her that Alcides could have taken advantage of her and he didn’t so that means he has changed. (Alcides told you that himself about 50 times. Weren’t you listening?)

Dr. Dan brings his own flowers. He says that he didn’t write a note because in this case what he has to say should be said personally.

The judge lets Arturo out of jail. Arturo says that he is a discreet man and he won’t tell anyone about the judge’s fondness for women of easy virtue. Alcides appears and asks why this criminal is out of his cell.

Boris has come to see Marina at the Hacienda. He asks if she put the photo in the workshop. Marina says that she knows Boris missed her. She asks him to sit. Boris says that he’s come to ask for a divorce.

Hercu-less has come to visit Dr. Dan’s wife, Manuela.

Dr. Dan says that he thought about Soledad all night. He doesn’t want her to hate him or to stop going to the hospital. Dr. Dan starts to says that he knows he should have told her about his wife from the beginning… Soledad interrupts. She doesn’t want to talk about this now. She had a bad night. Dr. Dan asks her not to turn him away. She is the most important thing in the world to him, he will spend his whole life proving that to her, etc. Soledad says that there is nothing to prove. The damage is done. Dr. Dan says that he won’t give up that easily. He sees the flowers from Alcides and asks who else sent her flowers.

Andres tells Hugo that Michelle didn’t return. “If she’s not in San Marino, then…” says Andres. Hugo asks if Andres is telling him that Michelle has disappeared. Hugo says that Michelle couldn’t have disappeared. She left San Marino to come directly back here. Andres asks Hugo how he can be so sure that she was coming here. Hugo says that she sent her luggage ahead with Andres. Andres says that on the way back, he got a telegram saying that she was going to stay. Andres says that he has been waiting for instructions to return. Andres asks Hugo what happened after that. According to the telegram, Michelle and Hugo worked things out. Hugo flashes back to his conversation with Alcides that Michelle overheard. Hugo tells Andres that they never got back together and that he is sure that Michelle overhead a conversation he had with Alcides where he said that Soledad was the great love of his life.

Dr. Dan says that he doesn’t have any right to ask but he wants to know who sent the other flowers. Soledad pretends that she hasn’t read the card. Dr. Dan says that it was a mistake to come. He gets up as if to leave but detours over to where the flowers are and grabs the card and opens it. He reads what Alcides wrote. Dr. Dan is surprised. He thought it was from Hugo. He asked what Alcides did for which he is asking forgiveness. (That is none of your business, Dr. Dan.)

Alcides tells the judge that this criminal is accused of kidnapping. Arturo shoots back by saying that Alcides is the only criminal present. Arturo says that he is an honorable man, an ex-soldier with medals for serving his country. “And who steals children,” snaps Alcides. He asks the judge what kind of justice there is in this city. There is overwhelming evidence that Arturo was involved in he kidnapping of his niece, a small infant. The judge flashes back to Arturo giving him his boots and saying that he would be discreet about the judge’s recreations. The judge says that the footprints found at the scene of the crime were made by the same military boots worn by lots of law enforcement personnel in San Marino. The evidence doesn’t incriminate Arturo at all so the judge says that he has to let him go.

Hercu-less tells Manuela that she is very beautiful. She asks why he has come. Herc asks if Manuela’s husband is Dr. Dan. Manuela asks if something has happened to him or did he bring her the excellent news that he is dead and she has inherited all of his fortune. Herc says no. He has come with information that might interest her. Her husband is in San Marino and he plans to get married to another woman.

Marina asks if Boris wants a divorce to marry that home wrecker, Ursula. Boris tells Marina not to say bad things about Ursula. This confirms to Marina that Boris loves Ursula and that he wants a divorce to marry her. Boris says that he and Marina are finished. Their marriage ended when she sold her soul to the devil. Boris says he doesn’t owe her any explanations about his life, much less his decisions. Marina agrees that she sold her soul to the devil and therefore she will never ever give him a divorce.

Andres says that it is no wonder Michelle left San Marino. Hugo says that everything changed that night. Andres says that he doesn’t think Michelle will forgive him. Hugo asks if Michelle isn’t really in the house and just doesn’t want to see him. Andres says that Michelle isn’t the kind of woman who runs from her problems. If she were here, she would see Hugo. Hugo asks where can she be then. He shows Andres the letter that he got from Michelle. Andres says that it is her handwriting but the paper is from her personal diary.

Dr. Dan keeps harassing Soledad to tell him what happened with Alcides. She wants to talk some other time. Dr. Dan says that he is here to protect and love her and he won’t permit Alcides or anyone else to hurt her. The guards are outside to protect her because Alcides would come into the house all the time. Soledad says he is right. Dr. Dan says that she should tell him. She tells him that she went to see Hugo and when she got there it wasn’t Hugo that was there, it was Alcides. She stops. Dr. Dan asks what happened with Alcides.

Alcides tells Arturo that he is sure that he is guilty. The judge says that the case against Arturo is closed. Until some more evidence is uncovered, Arturo will remain a free man. The judge leaves. Alcides says that he isn’t fooled. This is the second time that he has kidnapped Alcides neice. Arturo says that he doesn’t care what Alcides thinks. He starts to leave and Alcides stops him with his cane. Alcides tells Arturo to be very careful because he will be watched. Arturo replies that then Alcides will see that he has nothing to do with Alcides’ family. He also tells Alcides to watch his back because when he least expects it, Arturo will send Alcides to hell. Alcides laughs and says that Arturo is alive because of him. When he changes his mind, Artruro will go to hell preceded by Doña Gladis. Arturo tells Alcides that he will pay for what he did (indicating his missing hand) and he mentions the eye for an eye thing. Arturo leaves saying that if Alcides wanted to win Soledad’s admiration at his expense, he is glad that it was a total failure (‘rotundo fracaso’). He leaves and Alcides says to himself that Arturo should enjoy his victory because when Arturo least expects it, Alcides will be offering toast on his tomb.

Hercu-less tells Dr. Dan’s wife that his boss is interested in the woman Dr. Dan wants to marry and he will pay her for never divorcing Dr. Dan. Manuela says that depends on the amount Herc’s boss is willing to pay. She asks how much money Herc is talking about.

Boris accuses Marina of refusing to divorce him for spite. Marina says that they are still married and he can’t leave her. Boris says that their marriage is over when she went to the dark side. Marina trots out the tried and true – you care more about Hugo than me. Boris say that he respects Hugo because he is a good man unlike her. She tricked and deceived him. He thanks her for opening his eyes so he could realize that she is an evil woman. Marina tells him to leave. Boris says that he will start divorce proceedings on his own and accuse Marina of things like trying to steal the money of the mine investors.

Hugo tells Andres that to him, the letter is clearly a goodbye letter from Michelle. Andres again says that it is Michelle’ handwriting but why is it written on a sheet from her diary? Hugo asks if he is sure and Andres says that he bought the diary for Michelle. Hugo suggests that Michelle was in a hurry to leave and that was the only paper available. Andres is not convinced. He asks if anyone saw her leave and did she have her sword. Hugo says that Boris saw her leave the hotel with her sword. Andres still has doubts. He says that the letter doesn’t look like it was written in a hurry.

Dr. Dan urges Soledad to tell him what happened with Alcides. He says that if Alcides took advantage of her, he will kill him. Soledad tells him to calm down. Dr. Dan begs her to tell him what happened. Soledad says that Alcides pretended to be Hugo, they argued, she left, that was all. Dr. Dan asks if she is sure that is all that happened. Soledad says that she is fine, nothing happened. She says that she doesn’t owe Dr. Dan any explanations. The only person who needs to know is Hugo, Alcides’ twin brother. Dr. Dan says fine, he has no right to demand explanations (that didn’t stop you.). Maybe if Soledad were his fiancé but she isn’t wearing his ring anymore. Soledad says that wasn’t meant to be. Life must go on. Dr. Dan says that his life has no meaning without her. He says that he has written to ask his wife for a divorce. He will move heaven and earth to show her that his sorry. He wants her know that she is his whole life. Without her, his life his meaningless. He loves her and no one will love her as much as he does. (You’re getting a little creepy here, Doc.) Soledad says nothing.

Manuela is impressed with the sum of money that Herc’ boss is offering. Herc says they need to take the next train to San Marino. Manuela says that she needs to prepare for the trip but Herc says that his boss has authorized him to cover all the transportation and lodging expenses plus whatever else Manuela may need. Manuela is impressed again. The maid brings Manuela a letter from Dr. Dan.

Marina says that if Boris wants to play dirty, she knows all the bad things that he and Hugo did when he was pretending to be Alcides. She repeats that she will never give Boris a divorce. She hopes that Ursula doesn’t mind waiting her whole life for him. (I doubt that will be necessary – you just signed your novela death warrant.)

Hugo says to Andres that there must be an explanation for why Michelle is nowhere to be found. He asks him to think. What would Michelle do in these circumstances? Andres finally flashes back to Michelle telling him that she was going to Europe to try and clear her head. Andres tells Hugo this. Hugo says that he has to know that Michelle is ok. He asks Andres to let him know when he hears from her. Andres agrees. Hugo says that if Michelle wants to be alone, he will respect her decision. He gives Andres a letter he wrote to Michelle earlier in case she wouldn’t see him. Hugo says that he doesn’t have the means to go to Europe right now but they could communicate by letter. Hugo also gives Andres the sword he made for Michelle and asks him to get it to her. Andres agrees. Hugo leaves. Andres says that there is only one place in Europe Michelle could be. He will write to her there.

Dr. Dan asks if Soledad will ever forgive him. She says that it is not about forgiveness. She asks why they can’t leave things as they are. Dr. Dan says that he is going to the hospital. He says that soon he will hear from his wife and a new path will open for them. (Soledad and I are both rolling our eyes.) She asks him not to pressure her any more. He starts again with his protestations of his love and that she will be happy with him and he made a mistake but he’s sorry, etc. etc. Soledad says only that she will see him later at the hospital. He finally leaves. Soledad asks herself what is wrong with her. Dr. Dan has offered her the earth, the moon and the stars and all she can think about is Hugo. Why?

Antonia comes in. She tells Soledad that Dr. Dan is the right man for her. This is her advice and it comes from a sinner. A person who has experienced more than Soledad can imagine (and this makes her advice better?).

The judge comes to see Margot and he doesn’t seem to be in a very good mood. (He’s probably still hung over.) Margot flashes back to what happened at the cabaret. The judge says that he and Margot have to have a very serious talk.

Manuela is ready to travel. Her husband’s letter convinced her to go. Herc says that she is a determined woman. “Ambitious too,” says Manuela. To herself Manuela says that she regrets returning to Dr. Dan with bad news. She thought they could divorce and she could keep part of his money but she never thought it would be to her benefit not to do so.

Dr. Dan thanks and pays the guards at Soledad’s house. He repeats his instructions that neither Alcides nor Hugo are permitted to enter the house and that if Alcides sends flowers, they are not to be delivered.

Soledad asks Antonia why she says that she is a sinner. Antonia replies that she is a sinner. She has done terrible things. Antonia says that Soledad has to make room for forgiveness in her life so she doesn’t end up like Antonia – a bitter old maid who finds sin everywhere. Soledad says that it sounds like something terrible happened in Antonia’s past. Antonia flashes back to being raped. Antonia doesn’t want to talk about the past. She wants to talk about Soledad’s present and urges her to be happy with Dr. Dan and leave San Marino. Soledad says she doesn’t want any more pressure. She is confused and something terrible happened yesterday. She tells Antonia about going to see Hugo and finding Alcides pretending to be Hugo but nothing bad happened. Soledad then says that she doesn’t want people to tell her what to do. She will make her own decisions. Antonia says that sometimes people make the wrong decisions and pay for them. Soledad asks what is the matter. Antonia looks like she is suffering. Antonia says that when she first came to this house, she did terrible things to Soledad. Antonia says that she was responsible for the disappearance of Soledad’s baby right after she was born. Soledad is impactada.

Hugo is on the train back to San Marino. The train stops in Alcala. To himself Hugo says that Michelle went to Europe. She didn’t want to have anything more to do with him. There is no possibility of her returning and that’s probably for the best. He says that it could be a sign that he should continue to fight for Soledad. Hercu-less gets on the train with Manuela and sits behind Hugo. Hugo hears Herc’s voice and wonders what he is doing getting on the train at Alcala. The credits roll.

Tomorrow: Alcides sets a trap with Manuela?

La Traición, Thurs, June 19 - Alcides' confession that he is not Hugo does not get the desired effect; Soledad confides in Eloisa

Alcides and Soledad before

My God, I've made the worst mistake of my life!

Somebody stole the Judge's boots?

Eloisa is surprised to learn that Soledad was with Alcides

Soledad tells Alcides/Hugo that this is crazy.
Some nice dialog-free lovemaking scenes.

Andres gets a telegram. It says that Hugo is coming to see Michelle. Andres is confused, of course.

Boris says that he should leave. He says that he will come tomorrow to see Lucas about visiting Ursula. Antonia says that they will come with her and talk to Lucas and Ester right now.

Eloisa rubs salt into Dr. Dan’s wounds by saying that what he had done will separate him from Soledad forever. Dr. Dan says that it was enough what Soledad told him, Eloisa doesn’t have to make it worse. Dr. Dan says that even though Soledad doesn’t want to see him now, she will change her mind. Eloisa replies that she doesn’t think so since Soledad is very stubborn (‘terca’). Paquito comes for Eloisa. Before she leaves, she tells Dr. Dan that she hopes he gets Soledad back and kisses him on the cheek.

Paquito takes Eloisa into the back room and she sees the sleeping Judge. At first she thinks he is dead but Paquito assures her that he is only drunk. Eloisa recalls that Margot was drinking with the Judge. Eloisa wonders if Margot killed Deborah but Paquito rejects that idea. He says that Margot isn’t a killer. Then he says, “She doesn’t bray (like a donkey) because she can’t (‘No rebuzna porque no puede,’ meaning, I guess, that you can’t be something you’re not). Paquito says that it is very strange. The judge wasn’t robbed. He has all his money, jewelry, etc. except his boots. “Margot stole his boots?” says Eloisa.

Arturo says that Margot can go home and rest. He should be free tomorrow and she can come and visit him at his house. They bid each other goodnight and Margot leaves. When he is alone, Arturo says that now we will see how Alcides proves that he was behind the kidnapping of the baby. He says that he wants to see Alcides’ face when he finds out Arturo is free.

Lovemaking.
A: (to himself) You are so beautiful, so delicate, sweet and soft. The scent of your hair, your skin. The taste of your lips drives me crazy… crazy.
S: Today I realized… I can’t escape you. I love you above all things. I love you as the father of my daughter and as a woman, with passion and craziness of my very first love because you are my first and only love. Why so silent, my love? What’s wrong? Why do you torture me this way.
A: (with tears in his eyes) Because … because (he undoes his hair) I’m not Hugo, I’m Alcides. I’m sorry Soledad. I’m not Hugo. Believe me that I’m sorry Soledad. But I’m not Hugo.
S: Alcides? It can’t be. My god, the story repeats itself.
A: No, my love. The story doesn’t repeat itself. This time it was different. I just confessed that I’m not Hugo. I am showing you that I am a different Alcides.
S: But I hugged and kissed you thinking you were Hugo and you kept quiet..
A: I could have kept quiet. I could have kept quiet and gone all the way. I could have gone all the way but I didn’t. I didn’t and you know why? Because I’ve changed. I’ve learned. I’m a different man now who is incapable of deceiving you. A man who doesn’t want to hurt you. I want to win your love cleanly, Soledad. Because of that I didn’t make love with you.
S: You pulled back you hair like Hugo and you took off your necklace so I wouldn’t know you were Alcides.
A: That was pure coincidence. My hair was getting in the way while I was checking the footprints and all I had at hand was the cord of my talisman so I used it.
S: I was on the point of giving myself to you. Today, the day I decided to start over with Hugo. My God. I’ve made the worst mistake of my life.

Ester says to Boris that his boss, Hugo de Medina, is pursuing his daughter and now you’re courting Ursula. “And in hiding,” says Antonia. Boris tells them that he was going to tell them about their relationship. Ursula says that they were waiting for the right moment. Lucas says that he doesn’t think it is fair that Boris and Ursula have to sneak around just because Boris works for Hugo. Ursula asks if that means Boris can come and visit her and Ester replies that the relationship between them cannot be.

Marina is back to al fresco bathing. She flashes back to seeing Boris kissing Ursula. “Damned Ursula,” says Marina, “I won’t let you be happy with Boris. You’ll be with him over my dead body.” (Happy to arrange that, Marina)

Dr. Dan comes home to Dr. Max’s. He hears Antonia as ‘George’ telling him that he should have been honest with Soledad. He hears Soledad saying that he has made a huge gulf between them. He says to himself that he has lost everything. He says that he has to learn to get up. No matter what it costs, he will get Soledad back. She’ll see.

At the cabaña, Soledad and Alcides are up and dressed.
S: You and your brother will drive me crazy.
A: Don’t say that. Destiny brought us together to meet here. (Soledad slaps him.)
S: You should have told me you weren’t Hugo the moment I walked in the door. But you kept quiet like a coward because you wanted to take advantage of my vulnerability, Alcides.
A: My love, it was a mistake. I admit it. I admit it. But your scent drives me crazy, that angelic face of yours. My love, a kiss from you is heaven. Forgive me. Besides, you kissed me first. I just went along with it. I am dying for you.
S: Shut up. Don’t say that because we will never be together, Alcides.
A: No, my love, don’t say that. I’ll fight for another chance. Especially now since I’ve tasted your kisses, that I was able to smell your perfume. Especially now that I drank from your breath, felt the sensualness of your skin and the heat of your body.
S: Shut up. Can’t you see that I’m appalled at what I just did? I was on the point of being yours Alcides!
A: That never would have happened. I never would have taken advantage of this innocent confusion. You know why? I’m showing you that I can win over your heart cleanly. My darling, I love you.

Ester tells Boris that he still a married man and they’ve had enough of that in this house (‘ya tenimos de esa tela una buena colcha,’ literally, ‘we’ve already had a good quilt from that fabric). Boris says that he will start divorce proceedings immediately. Lucas says that he can visit Ursula when the divorce is final. Lucas asks where Soledad is. Ester says that she was in the garden but Antonia says that she did not see her there. Ursula says that Soledad went for a walk. She wanted to be alone. Lucas tells Ester that they need to talk privately and they leave. Boris wonders else there is to say about him and Ursula. Ursula says that it doesn’t matter. She tells Boris that Soledad isn’t taking a walk. She went to the cabaña to see Hugo. Boris tells her that Hugo isn’t there. He went on a trip. Ursula wonders why Soledad hasn’t returned and who she is with.

Alcides and Soledad-
A: Do you know why I’m convinced that it was fate that brought you here today? Because I came here today because of your daughter.
S: I won’t permit you to draw my daughter into your wickedness (‘bajezas’).
A: I’m investigating Arturo de Linares as the principal suspect in the kidnapping of your daughter.
S: What are you talking about?
A: Look. See these footprints. They’re of the man who kidnapped Aurora. I came to find evidence to incriminate Arturo de Linares as the principal suspect in the kidnapping. I want him to pay for what he did.
S: I don’t believe you.
A: You’re upset and I understand. Please, my love, accept my heartfelt apologies. If you don’t believe me, you can ask Boris, Hugo or the judge. Realize that fate brought us together to meet.
S: The only thing fate has taught me is to stay away from you and your brother forever or I will never find happiness. (Soledad moves to leave.)
A: My love, Please don’t go.
S: Alcides, don’t you understand? What just happened makes me feel dirty (‘sucia’), I just kissed you thinking that you were Hugo.
A: Soledad. I confessed. I’m not Hugo. I told you the truth. I didn’t let anything happen. For God’s sake, understand, your kisses and your aroma lured me. (Soledad tries to leave and Alcides grabs her) My love for you was stronger than the passion I felt for you. Forgive me (she leaves). (Alcides sighs) I couldn’t restrain myself (‘no me pude contener’). I couldn’t. The love I feel for her is much stronger than my will. Ayy, my God, I love her so much. I love her so much (‘cuanto la amo’).

Soledad is walking and crying. She flashes back to Hugo telling her that he wouldn’t seek her out again and that she must come to him. Then she hears Alcides giving his justification for what he did.
S: How could I confuse Hugo for Alcides? How? My God. I need to get away from both of them. My mother was completely right – only misery and disgrace awaits me by their side. But I can’t. I love Hugo.

Back at the cabaña-
A: With time and a little luck, Soledad (‘con tiempo y un ganchito) you will be mine.

Boris comes into the cabaña. He asks if Soledad is ok. Alcides says that Boris has come too late. Boris says that he doesn’t understand. Is Soledad ok? Alcides replies that Soledad is fine. She just left. Alcides says that he needs to talk to Hugo. Boris tells him that Hugo went to find Michelle. Alcides says that isn’t possible. Once again, Boris says that he doesn’t understand. Alcides says that he has to leave. Boris asks if Soledad is ok again. Alcides replies that for a servant, Boris meddles too much in things that don’t concern him. Alcides leaves and Boris says to himself that he only hopes that Soledad is ok.

Dr. Dan is writing a letter to his wife. He says that he is not reproaching her for her betrayal of him that happened so long ago. He tells her that he has found a wonderful woman that he wants to marry and spend the rest of his life with her. He hopes she will sign the enclosed document so that he can initiate divorce proceedings. He keeps looking at a picture of Soledad.

Soledad has come to see Eloisa (this isn’t good) at Rebeca’s house. Soledad says that she needs to talk to someone. She says that she is dying. She is in pain, she’s angry. Eloisa says that they are friends. Soledad can tell her everything.

Lucas wants an explanation from Antonia as to what she was doing away from the house in the middle of the night. Why didn’t she tell him that she was working out of the house at night? Are they trying to make him feel more ashamed of his inability to support his family? Antonia says that she is sorry but she can’t stand around doing nothing when the household needs money. Lucas says that it isn’t her obligation. Antonia disagrees. She is prepared to sacrifice for her family and she has to expiate her sins somehow. She flashes back to burning Soledad’s baby clothes when Soledad’s gown caught on fire. Then she flashes to playing the piano in the bar. Ester asks if she ok and Lucas wants to know what sins she is talking about. Antonia asks them not to question her anymore. She only asks to help with the household expenses.

Eloisa says that she ran into Dr. Dan at the cabaret and he told her everything. Soledad says that that was bad too. But it wasn’t only that. Eloisa says that it must be about Hugo, then. Soledad says that it’s about Alcides. Eloisa is surprised. Soledad says that she was almost intimate with Alcides. Eloisa is super impactada. She says that she doesn’t understand anything. Soledad explains what happened with Hugo and then her decision to go to the cabaña where she mistook Alcides for Hugo and almost had sex with him but fortunately he told her the truth. Eloisa says Alcides used to be a pervert but he has changed. What happened speaks well of him. Soledad asks what she means. Eloisa starts pitching for Alcides. She says that he is a man who respects Soledad and loves her deeply or he would have said nothing and made Soledad his. She says that she can tell Alcides would do anything for Soledad’s happiness. (Soledad turned her brain off some time ago so she struggles to process this.)

Lucas decides that he can’t tolerate being supported by his women. He has to do something that doesn’t require physical strength. Ester notes that he wrote her the most beautiful love letters when they were courting. He could write letters for people who can’t express their own feelings. (That’s going to bring in a lot of money.) Lucas is happy with that idea.

Margot reads a note from Hercu-less saying that he’s gone on a business trip. Margot says that is good. She can help Arturo without making Herc jealous.

Soledad does not agree with Eloisa’s characterization of Alcides’ behavior. Eloisa says that Alcides is in love with Soledad. She probably drove him crazy and people in that condition do crazy things. The important thing is that he stopped to think about it. Soledad is wondering what she should do when the doorbell rings and Alcides announces that he has come to see Eloisa. Soledad asks what Alcides is doing at Eloisa’s house. Eloisa goes to open the door, pretends outrage to see Alcides at that hour and manages to warn him that Soledad is there.

Back at the tavern, the judge wakes up. Paquito says that it’s almost dawn. The judge has a headache. Paquito says that he drank too much. The judge flashes back to being with Margot and says that he remembers. Paquito tells him not to worry. His cabaret has a motto (‘un lema’) – prefiguring that of Las Vegas - what happens in the cabaret stays in the cabaret (‘Lo que sucede en le cabaret de Paquito, se quede en el cabaret,’). The judge notices that his boots are gone. Paquito goes to lend him a pair of shoes.

Margot and Arturo are having sex. This has to be somebody’s dream. Arturo says that he wants to marry Margot and have sex with her every night. It’s Arturo’s dream. He wakes up in prison and says that one day Margot will be his.

Alcides pretends that he came to Eloisa’s house to apologize to Soledad for what happened. Soledad says that they discussed this already. The only thing she wants is not to be near him. Soledad leaves. Alcides says that he is going to follow Soledad to make she gets home ok. Now more than ever he wants Eloisa to use her friendship with Soledad to convince her that Alcides loves and and respects her. He leaves. Eloisa laughs.

Ursula is holding the blanket named Aurora. Soledad comes in. Ursula says that she was worried. “If you only knew,” says Soledad. Ursula asks where Soledad was. Soledad says that she was at Hugo’s cabaña and that Alcides almost deceived her into making love with him. Antonia interrupts to say that Soledad has to get away from both Hugo and Alcides before they destroy her life. Soledad doesn’t want to talk about it.
Antonia says that she wants to ask Soledad’s forgiveness for all the bad things that she did in the past. She is very sorry. She wanted to be the judge of her own family and she has ended up accused in the dock (‘el banquillo de los acusados’) herself. Soledad asks what she is talking about. Antonia says that it doesn’t matter. She is sorry. She says that what made her think about this was Dr. Dan. The credits roll.

Tomorrow: Hugo arrives at Michelle’s house and Dr. Dan resumes courting.

La Traición, Mon. 6/18 - If you can't recognize the twin you love, make love with the twin you're with

Margot gets the judge drunk

Boris and Ursula are caught

Arturo checks out the Judge's boots

Alcides, pretending to be Hugo, profits from Soledad's stupidity

Soledad and Hugo-
Hugo holds out the ring.
S: Why do you have it? I thought I lost it.
H: You didn’t lose it. I took it when I kissed your hand just before leaving the mine.
Soledad takes the ring and flashes back to when it happened.
S: Why Hugo? Why?
H: Because my heart took over my reason. I didn’t want you to leave with the ring that represents our separation.
S: No, that’s not what I mean. What happened to us? Why your revenge? We could have been so happy. I wish I could forgive you. I don’t know how to make you believe it.
Hugo kisses her.

Things are hoppin’ at the cabaret. Paquito is running around like a chicken with its head cut off. Eloisa tells him not to be so paranoid. She won’t tell anyone that his pianist is ‘that old woman Antonia.’ Paquito says that’s not what he’s concerned about. He has to keep an eye on his girls so that none of them end up dead. Eloisa asks if he thinks that the attack was directed at him personally. Paquito says that he doesn’t know. Eloisa points out that the Judge is in attendance. He is sitting with Margot. Paquito hopes that the Judge has come to amuse himself and not because he has any suspicions about Déborah.

Margot plies the Judge with drink and sticks her boobs in his face. To herself, Margot says that she hopes things work out. She doesn’t want to get arrested on Arturo’s account.

Alcides comes to visit Arturo. Arturo asks what the hell he is doing there. Alcides says that he came to warn Arturo to prepare himself. He won’t escape from this one. Arturo again protests that he is innocent of the kidnapping. He says that he thinks Alcides did it and is trying to put the blame on him. Alicides snags Arturo around the neck with his cane and holds him, “Find yourself a good lawyer to represent you. A lawyer of my caliber. Because I am going to destroy you (‘aplastarte’) in court.” Arturo tells Alcides to let him go. “I warned you about coming near my people, imbecile,” says Alcides, “I warned you. Now you will pay the consequences.” Arturo responds that it will take more than Alcides and 20 lawyers to take him on. He says that he will be out tomorrow. “We’ll see about that (‘Eso está por verse’),” says Alcides.

Hugo and Soledad kiss.
H: You’re free to wear that engagement ring from von Chirac if you want to.
S: I don’t know what I want anymore. I just found out that Daniel is married. Yes, he too betrayed me.
H: So it’s true.
S: You knew?
H: My brother Alcides told me.
S: Alcides?
H: Yes, Alcides. He found the evidence that von Chirac was married. Alcides.
S: That’s why you came? Because you knew I found out that Daniel was married. Is that why you are here? You’ve deceived me again, Hugo.
H: How can I make you understand how much I love you? How? I’ve never loved another woman as I love you. I’m yours (‘Soy tuyo’) Soledad.
S: How could you?
H: My body and soul are yours.
Soledad just stares at him.

Antonia is walking home from the cabaret in her disguise. (She wouldn’t change at the cabaret?) She says that she has to change quickly so as not to miss the celebration of Soledad’s engagement. She finds Dr. Dan sitting under a tree (Of course, it wouldn’t make sense for him to go into the cabaret in his condition but Antonia has to be in disguise to hear his confidences.).

Hugo and Soldedad-
H: For the love of God, Soledad. (he sighs) Don’t reject me any more. What do I have to do to make you forgive me? What?
S: It’s not that I can’t forgive you. What I can’t do is believe you.
H: Then I’ll move heaven and earth to make you believe what I feel for you.
S: Hugo, please don’t continue. You don’t know what your words do to my heart. You haven’t changed. You’re the same person. Look what you just did. Did you come here to make sure that I knew that Daniel was still married? Why? Why do you keep playing with me?
H: Soledad. Forgive me if I offended you. It wasn’t my intention. I don’t know what else to do to make you understand that I love you. Can’t you see that I’d hold on to anything to be near you? Don’t you understand that I need you like the tree needs the soil to survive?
S: Enough. I don’t want to hear more. Do you realize that your love hurts me? It’s killing me. It’s driving me crazy and I’d like to escape from this madness. Please. Leave me.
H: My love. Without you I can’t continue to live. I can’t live without your kisses. I can’t live without your caresses.
S: Please…
H: Look at me. Without you, my life is meaningless.
S: Stop.
H: Soledad, look at me. Please. Give me one last chance to prove that I love you. I promise you’ll never shed another tear because of me. I promise that I’ll make you the happiest woman in the world.
S: I’m tired of promises, Hugo. I don’t want to listen to you. Once again, you are wrong about me. I don’t love you anymore because it goes against my logic and well being.
H: (sighs) All right. I won’t beg ('rogar') anymore. No more. But if you wake up one day and your wounds are healed and you want to return to my side, find me because I’ll be waiting for you.
S: I don’t want to see you. I don’t want to listen to you. Seeing you hurts me. (Soledad leaves.)

Antonia asks Dr. Dan what’s the matter. Dr. Dan tells ‘George’ that his fiancé lost her engagement ring and the night he thought was going to be his happiest turned into a nightmare. Someone had set him up or maybe he did it to himself. He had told Soledad that he had been married but he didn’t tell her that he had never gotten divorced. ‘George’ says, “What!”

At the cabaret, the Judge is three sheets to the wind. He asks Margot to come to his house where they can be more private. Margot says that they don’t have to go that far. There is a room right here where they can be together. Paquito comes over. He is shocked at the judge’s condition but agrees to let Margot take him to a room.

Eloisa interprets the Judge’s condition as an indication of the success of the cabaret. Paquito says that it will make him rich and then he hopes Eloisa will take him more seriously and want to marry him. (It’s going to be hard to compete with that treasure, Paquito.) Eloisa tells Paquito not to behave that way in front of everyone. He should wait until they get home.

At the Hacienda, Alcides tells Hercu-less to bring Manuela Marin, the little doctor’s wife, to San Marino. He gives Herc lots of money in case of eventualities. (looks like another trip to the treasure vault is in the cards for Eloisa) Herc must bring the doctor’s wife to San Marino whatever it costs. Herc says that he will leave right after he says goodbye to his woman. He won’t say anything to her. Alcides says that by the time he returns, his former boss, Arturo, will be sentenced to many years in jail. Herc is pleased that in future he won’t have to worry about having him bother his wife when she is alone. Alcides says that he has to resolve a personal matter with Arturo. They leave together.

Soledad returns to her bedroom. She flashes back to Hugo swinging her up on his horse and saying that they were born to love one another and a bunch of other scenes from yesterday and a few minutes ago. Ursula comes in with some tea that she says will make Soledad feel better.
S: The only way for me to feel better is to be by Hugo’s side. (That was quick. If you hurry, you can catch Hugo before he leaves.)
U: Are you serious?
S: I think it’s time to let my heart decide. It’s time to listen to what my heart is shouting and stop thinking, turn off my mind.
U: Then do it. Listen to your heart. It’s the only way that you’ll be happy.
S: Ursula, Hugo said that he wouldn’t come looking for me anymore, that I’d have to decide if I wanted to be with him.
U: Then what are you waiting for? Maybe all that has happened with Dr. Dan was a sign from heaven that you should be with the only man you have ever loved – Hugo de Medina. Don’t think too much. You might lose if you take too long. (Ursula leaves.)

Hugo is packing. Boris tells him about the commission to make a sword but Hugo isn’t listening. Finally he says, “It’s all over between us. I won’t keep begging Soledad to forgive me. Her heart is too destroyed to listen to reason. So I’m leaving right now to find Michelle.” (You just told Soledad that you’d die without her and that you’d wait for her to come to you and now you’re going after another woman?)
Boris says that seems like a good idea. Hugo says that at least Soledad won’t marry Dr. Dan because he is already married. They leave the cabaña. Hugo has changed into a spiffy traveling outfit and left his blacksmith getup behind.

Dr. Dan says that he should have kept looking for his wife and gotten separated so that he could have avoided this disaster with Soledad. ‘George’ says that Dr. Dan should have told Soledad everything at the beginning. Dr. Dan admits that is true but there is no turning back. ‘George’ says that she has to leave. Dr. Dan hugs ‘George’ saying that he loved Soledad but he made a mistake. ‘George’ tries to comfort him. (This must look pretty strange – two guys hugging?)

Alcides bangs on Hugo’s door. He says that he has come to look at the footprints. He decides Hugo isn’t home. To keep the hair off his face while he leans over to examine the footprints, he takes off his talisman and uses the cord to tie his hair back like Hugo. (We can see where this is going.) Alcides studies the footprints. He says that they will make Arturo rot in jail. Soledad is outside the cabaña. She comes in.
S: Hugo. I thought about what you told me. I came to talk to you because I want to give us another chance. I’ve been thinking a lot. You words made me wake up. You are completely right, Hugo. After all we’ve been through, all we’ve had to live through.
A: (to himself) She thinks I’m Hugo but what is she talking about?
S: What am I doing here? I made a mistake coming here.
A: (to himself) She’s forgiven my brother. That is what she is trying to say.
Soledad goes to Alcides and hugs him.
S: Hugo, my love. (Alcides smiles like he can’t believe his luck, his 'ganchito'.)

Hugo is sitting on the same stupid train with Boris. Boris says that he has a secret date with Ursula. Hugo tells him to be happy with the woman he loves. Boris says that when Hugo returns, they can start making swords like the one he made to give to Michelle. They could specialize in swordmaking. They could become famous. Hugo says that he would be happy selling some to make a living. Boris wishes Hugo good luck. Hugo tells him to be happy with the woman that he loves.

Now Dr. Dan has come into the tavern. He sees Eloisa. She tells him not to give her that look. She has already forgiven him his lies. Dr. Dan says that doesn’t concern him. Eloisa says that shouldn’t he be celebrating his engagement at the Obragon’s? Dr. Dan says that there is no engagement. Eloisa asks why. Dr. Dan says that he bets she is responsible for what happened. Eloisa says that she doesn’t understand. Dr. Dan says that he is sure that it was she who took his marriage certificate to Soledad.

Paquito tries to warn the ‘Paquitas’ to be careful without telling them why. All of a sudden he notices the Judge, bootless, sleeping in the corner.

Cut to Arturo getting a visitor. It’s Margot. She’s got the boots. Arturo looks at the sole and says that it is exactly the same as his boots. Margot says that she hopes he appreciates what she went through to get them. Arturo asks whose boots they are: a cop; a soldier? Margot says that they are none other than Judge Fernández’s boots!

Hercu-less comes looking for Margot to say goodbye but she isn’t there. He wonders where she is at this hour.

Boris sneaks past the guards to see Ursula. They kiss. He says that she is more beautiful than ever. The stars light up her beauty. Ursula says that she likes it when talks like that. She didn’t know he was so romantic. Boris says that in truth he isn’t but her beauty makes him that way. Ursula says that she can’t stay long. She has to take care of Aurora and... Antonia appears (She is dressed as a woman. Where did she change? Behind a bush?). She asks what Ursula is doing and then she sees Boris.

Soledad and Alcides-
S: Why don’t you talk to me? My love. Why don’t you say something? You said you would always be waiting for me. I think you are completely right.
A: (to himself) She can’t tell that I’m Alcides.
S: My love. I was wrong. Forget the past. I forgive you. I forgive you. Let us have another chance to be happy. Just like you said, you’re mine and I want to be yours.
She kisses him.
S: My love. Let’s forget the past. Make me yours.
A: (to himself) Of course, I want that more than anything in the world – to make you mine, mine once and for all but later, what will happen later when you discover I’m not Hugo, that I’m Alcides?
S: You said you couldn’t live without me. Neither can I. You were right. I tried but I couldn’t, my love. I love you. I know this is crazy. I shouldn’t have come.
A: (to himself) The die is cast (‘Las cartas están echadas,’ literally, ‘the cards have been played’). It’s now or never, Alcides. You either don’t say you are Alcides and make her yours or confess the truth and let her go. (Alcides goes for the lip lock. I guess he’s made his decision.)

On the train, a young lady sits opposite Hugo. Hugo introduces himself. He tells the woman that she reminds him of a very dear friend that he is going to visit: Michelle Philips. Hugo has a flashback to telling Michelle that he has to go on with his life. To himself, Hugo says that at least when he comes back, he won’t find Soledad married to Dr. Dan.

In the tavern, Dr. Dan accuses Eloisa of sending his marriage certificate to Soledad. Eloisa denies that she knew Dr. Dan was married. Dr. Dan apologizes but Eloisa points out maliciously that Soledad will never forgive him for this.

Antonia tells Ursula that what she is doing is unpardonable. How can she be alone with this man? Boris tells Antonia that he and Ursula are friends. Antonia says that friends don’t hide. Ursula says that they were hiding because Boris isn’t welcome in this house because he is Hugo’s servant. Boris admits that he was wrong and says that he will come tomorrow and tell Lucas of his intentions towards Ursula. Antonia replies that is what decent people do.

Arturo tells Margot that she is the bravest woman he has ever met. Margot says that she is terrified. What will happen to her when the judge wakes up and finds she has taken his boots? He’ll send her to the gallows. Arturo swears that won’t happen. Margot tells him how she got the judge drunk and then took his boots. Arturo says that she is his salvation. They kiss.

Alcides and Soledad-
A: (to himself) Soledad doesn’t suspect that I’m Alcides. My God, she doesn’t know what she is doing. I love her so much. This is my opportunity.
S: My love. I know all the times that you’ve asked me for forgiveness and I wouldn’t give it. It doesn’t matter that you’re silent now. I love you and I want you to make me yours like that night at the cabaña. Make me yours, my love.
A: (to himself) You’re asking for it, Soledad. You came to me. All by yourself, you came to me. Even if you think I’m Hugo, I’ll make you mine.

Tomorrow: No soy Hugo, soy Alcides.

La Traición, Tue. 6/17 - Dr. Dan finds out that's it's not a good idea to lie to Soledad and Hugo finds out that his brother has done him a favor

Hugo

Alcides

Antonia asks Soledad if she is sure that she lost her engagement ring. She says that it must have happened in the mine with Hugo and… She pauses and flashes back to when Hugo kissed her hand. Antonia says, “and Hugo what, Soledad?” Soledad says that there was a lot of confusion when they rescued Hugo in the mine and… Antonia says that it’s not a good sign. Soledad asks what she will tell Daniel. Antonia advises her to tell him the truth. He is an understanding man. Antonia repeats her statement that losing the ring is a bad sign. Apparently it means that the relationship won’t prosper. (We knew that already.)

Ursula and Boris finish kissing and she leaves. Boris finds what Marina left: a photograph of the day he married Marina. He wonders how it got there.

Hugo asks since when Arturo lost a… He gives Arturo back the glove and says that he didn’t know he had lost a hand. At that moment, Alcides shows up.
A: Little brother (hermanito), little brother. You’ve been getting into too much trouble with the law lately. I feel for you having to share a cell with this vermin.
H: What do you want, Alcides?
A: I came as soon as I heard you were here. It’s my defect as an attorney. I can’t stop litigating. I want you to tell me what you are charged with so I can get you out of here. (to Arturo) Tell me what villainy (‘fechoria’) you’ve done so I can sink you (‘undir’) deeper.
A: Sink me more. Wasn’t it enough that you left me one-handed (‘manco’)? (Alcides winks at Hugo.)

At Dr. Max’s, Dr. Dan is getting ready for his celebration with his goofy clown smile. He flashes back to when Soledad accepted him. He thinks to himself that no matter how much Soledad loves Hugo, he’ll win her over regardless of what it costs. (Good luck with that.) He says out loud that today is the beginning of their happiness.

At the cabaret, Margot has shown up in her bar girl outfit. She starts to put the moves on a cop. Antonia comes to the cabaret but she asks to leave early to attend a family celebration. Paquito is annoyed but he agrees saying that she has to remember that the show comes first. Then Antonia is accosted by Eloisa, who makes it clear that she recognizes Antonia.

Hugo is leaving the prison with Boris. He says that he didn’t expect to be released so soon. Boris says that Soledad didn’t file a complaint so they had nothing to hold him on. Alcides is in the police station. He says to Hugo that he was lucky this time. He advises Hugo to be careful. Judge Fernández has it in for him (‘te tiene ganas’).
H: I have to thank Soledad. In spite of everything, she still loves me.
A: Yes, by your good fortune, that is so (‘para tu fortuna así es’). See how love is: I would do anything for Soledad (‘cualquier locura’, literally, ‘any craziness.') except kidnap her, of course.
H: I don’t want to talk to you about that.’
A: You always said that I didn’t know the way to a woman’s heart. But this time you have to recognize that you were wrong.
H: (sighs) Alcides, I’m exhausted. Goodbye. (Hugo and Boris start to walk away.)
A: The little doctor can’t marry Soledad. (Hugo turns back to look at Alcides.) It’s the truth. Chirac is a married man.

The celebration is in full swing at the Obragon’s. Soledad looks like she is attending a funeral. Lucas is drinking water. Ester is the life of the party. She proposes a toast to the newly engaged couple. Ursula says to herself, “My poor little girl.” Everyone toasts to a future of happiness and peace. Dr. Dan asks why Soledad isn’t wearing her engagement ring. Before she can answer, one of the guards brings an urgent letter that has just been delivered for Soledad. She wonders who it can be from. Ursula suggests that it could be from Michelle and Ester thinks it might be a surprise from Dr. Dan. Soledad opens it. Everyone asks what it says. “You lied to me,” says Soledad to Dr. Dan. “It’s a marriage certificate. You are a married man.” Dr. Dan takes the document. Everyone asks what this means. Dr. Dan asks the guard about the person who delivered the note. The guard replies that it was brought by a boy who then ran away. “Daniel, please,” says Soledad, “Tell me that this marriage has been annulled. Tell me that this certificate is wrong. Please, you can’t let me down too.” (It looks like he can.)

Hugo, Boris and Alcides at the polices station-
H: What do you mean von Chirac is a married man?
A: What it sounds like: Chirac is married.
H: Where did you get this information?
A: That doesn’t matter. For your information, his wife is named Manuela Marin and they were married several years ago.
B: Excuse me for butting in, Don Hugo, but I don’t believe a single word of this.
H: von Chirac wouldn’t deceive Soledad this way. He wouldn’t get engaged to her knowing he was married.
A: Listen to me. von Chirac and Manuela may not live together but they are husband and wife under the law. They’re married.
H: You’re deceiving me, Alcides. This is another of your schemes.
A: Your eyes are gleaming, little brother. (‘Cómo te brillan los ojos, hermanito’) You’re hearing wedding bells (‘campanas de bodas’), right? This will benefit both of us. Now, more than ever, our race to conquer Soledad goes forward. Now there is only you and I. Just us again.

Eloisa says that she knows that George Wilde is really Antonia de Obragon. Eloisa says that she knows that under those clothes and mustache is the very conservative aunt of Eloisa’s best friend. She rips off Antonia’s moustache. Antonia runs out. Paquito comes in and asks Eloisa what she is doing. She says she isn’t doing anything but discovering his secret. She holds up the moustache. Paquito grabs it and goes after Antonia.

Margot continues to make the moves on a policeman. She wonders how she can get his boots off him.

Dr. Dan reminds Soledad that he had told her that he had been married. Soledad replies that she didn’t think he was still married. Lucas asks Dr. Dan to explain. “Before anything else,” says Dr. Dan, “I want ask your forgiveness. I never wanted to hurt you Soledad. This certificate has no importance to me.”
"If marriage isn’t important to you, it is for me,” says Soledad, “Did you think I was a woman you could deceive too? I thought you were a different class of man, Daniel.” Dr. Dan says that he is a different class of man. He loves and respects Soledad more than anything. “Then prove it to me,” says Soledad, “tell me that this paper has no validity.” “I can’t,” says Dr. Dan, “Legally I’m still married. I never divorced Manuela Marin.” Soledad is impactada, Ester and Lucas are weeping and Ursula looks pleased in an understated way.

Hugo and Alcides-
H: You took the time to find all this out about von Chirac?
A: I told you I’d get him out of our way. Now the fight to win Soledad’s love is between you and me, brother.
B: I still find this hard to believe.
H: I don’t think my brother is kidding (‘esté jugando’) about something this serious.
A: Well said, brother. Well said (‘bien dicho’). (Alcides applauds with his cane.) And you Boris, learn from your master. Hugo, I deserve some thanks, don’t you think?
H: (approaches Alcides) I never thought the day would come when I would have to thank you, brother. Thanks, Alcides.
A: So you have another reason to be grateful. Tell me. Tell me about the evidence against Arturo in the case against him for kidnapping my niece. I hope that creep rots in jail. Tell me.

Gladis goes to see Arturo and brings him some food. She says that he should get a lawyer. Arturo replies that Margot is going to get him out of prison faster than any lawyer. Gladis shakes her head.

At the cabaret, Margot tells the policeman that her greatest fantasy is to wear police boots.

Antonia is taking off her disguise. Paquito comes in and apologizes for Eloisa and says that she won’t say anything but the show has to continue. He begs her. Antonia says that George Wilde no longer exists and she won’t play the piano in this bar anymore. When Eloisa tells her family what she has been doing, they won’t forgive her. Paquito assures Antonia that Eloisa won’t say anything. He brings Eloisa in and asks her to tell Antonia that she won’t open her mouth. Eloisa says nothing.

Soledad tells Dr. Dan that she can’t believe it. He not only deceived her but her whole family. Dr. Dan asks that before she judges him, she listen to him first. He says that he could have gotten divorced. Not doing it wasn’t for lack of will. He just never returned to see his wife. (That explains everything - not) Ester asks how he could have deceived them all when she opened the doors of her house to him, etc. Dr. Dan asks Ester not to take it that way. He says that he was married (‘estaba casado’) to Manuela. “You are married (‘estás casado’) interrupts Soledad. Dr. Dan acknowledges the correct tense of the verb. Dr. Dan says that when he discovered that Manuela was betraying him with his best friend, his life was over. He was on the point of doing something crazy and that is why he ran away, very far away, to Africa where he worked as a doctor to lose the memory of that betrayal and never come back to Manuela. When he did return from Africa, Manuela had disappeared. He never returned to her from that day until now and that’s why he couldn’t get a divorce. Soledad says that she understands all that. What she doesn’t understand is why Dr. Dan was incapable of telling her that he was married. This is an outrage.

Hugo and Alcides:
H: The only proof we have are some footprints that were found in the place where the baby was left at the cabaña in the forest.
B: The judge made some drawings and compared them to those of Arturo de Linares. They are identical. Because of this, he was arrested while the investigation is onging.
H: But I’m convinced that this criminal was the person who took my daughter.
A: Fine. At least you know it wasn’t me, little brother.
H: Alcides, What did you do to Arturo? What is this about you cutting off his hand?
A: I didn’t cut off anything. He’s lying to you.
H: You tried to kill me. You let them bury me alive.
A: Look Hugo. I swear by the memory of our parents. I swear by the love I have for Soledad that I didn’t do it. He cut off his own hand. But if you prefer to believe that criminal who was capable of kidnapping your niece, go ahead. Tell me how you found the footprints.
B: We found them in the cabaña in the forest when we were moving Hugo’s things in there.
A: So you finally decided to accept my help.
H: I’ll pay you for it little by little
A: As you wish.
H: Brother, I have to leave. I have to get ready for my trip to find Michelle. Later.
A: No, no, no. You’re not going anywhere, Hugo.

Eloisa grudgingly says that she won’t tell anyone that Antonia is playing the piano in a bar. Paquito makes her swear. (I wouldn't depend on that.) “All fixed,” says Paquito, “Please. I need you. Get ready.” Antonia (who looks kind of like a werewolf with half her disguise on) says no. She goes back to saying that she is a respectable woman and won’t work in a den of iniquity like this. Paquito says that if she leaves, he will tell her family that she worked in his bar disguised as a man. He says that she can decide and leaves. Antonia starts putting cold cream on so we’re not sure what her decision is.

Soledad asks Dr. Dan if he was going start a relationship with her based on a lie. “You know the significance betrayal has for me, Daniel,” says Soledad, “if there was something that drew me to you it was that you were an honest man – what a huge disappointment.” Dr. Dan says that she is right. He has no excuse. Ester and Lucas ask Dr. Dan why he didn’t tell them about this before. Dr. Dan says that he never thought about it. For him, the marriage didn’t have any validity. It had been many years since he had thought about it up until he met Soledad. When he met Soledad, the memory was completely cleared from his heart. Soledad says that the marriage is a reality. Dr. Dan says that it’s a piece of paper. In his mind and in his heart, he is a completely free man. He hadn’t seen Manuela in more than two years. Ester says that he should have gotten a divorce from his wife. Dr. Dan says that after he was betrayed he didn’t think of engagements or marriage, he only wanted to kill himself until he met Soledad. Soledad (who is completely dry eyed during all this) says, “You don’t know me, Daniel. If you knew me, you would have told me the truth from the beginning. You’ve just opened an immense chasm between us. This celebration doesn’t make sense now. It’s over. I’m going to my room. Excuse me but I don’t feel well.” She leaves. Dr. Dan cries. (You blew it, buddy, big time.)

With Ursula in her room, Soledad says that she finds it hard to believe that after everything she did to convince herself to start a new life with Dr. Dan, she finds out that he is married. He lied to her all this time. He’s not divorced. She can’t believe it. Ursula asks if she ever asked him if he was divorced. Soledad says that isn’t something you ask. If he was courting her, he must have been divorced. It’s logical. Ursula asks how Soledad feels. Being lied to again must be very painful. Soledad says that she feels like she is being punished. It’s one lie after another and she is sick of it. She says that if it weren’t for her daughter, she would have left San Marino long ago.

S: When we were in the mine, Hugo asked me to take off Daniel’s engagement ring and I was tempted to do it but I didn’t. Hugo was going crazy. He kissed me and swore that he loves me. And I felt like dying. When I kissed him, every pore in my body wanted to be with him. His eyes. His scent. Everything … but I didn’t give in.
U: Enough, no more. I don’t like to see you like this.
S: I told him I couldn’t because I was engaged to another man. Even though my heart was telling me the opposite, Ursula. My heart yearned for him because not a single day has passed that I have stopped loving Hugo. That’s the truth.
U: Then do it. Listen to you heart. I hate seeing you like this (que a mí parte el alma,’ literally, ‘how it attacks my soul’). Say what you will, Hugo loves you like crazy. I know it.
S: But insanity isn’t enough for people who love one another. That’s why I decided to step aside to let Hugo find happiness with Michelle.
U: And you?
S: Nothing. What can I do?

Hugo and Alcides:
H: What is it?
A: I heard that Michelle Phillips sent you a letter saying that she was leaving you forever.
H: Brother, how do you know about that letter?
A: Because Soledad told me. There’s no point in your leaving. She lives so far away.
H: I don’t want her to suffer because of me.
A: Then she is in love with you?
H: Brother, I won’t discuss my private life with you.
A: I need you here, brother, to build a strong case against Arturo. To testify. I need you here.
H: I wasn’t a witness to anything. You have the footprints from the cabaña.
B: I’ll make sure they are not destroyed.
A: Fine. You know what you are doing. But if you leave now, you’ll stop Arturo from spending a long vacation in jail. I’m warning you.
H: Goodbye, brother. (Hugo and Boris leave.)
A: (Flashing back to when Michelle died.) If my brother finds out that Michelle never returned to her country, things could get very complicated.

Dr. Dan says that Soledad is right. There’s no reason to celebrate. He should leave. He hopes they can forgive him. Lucas tells him to find his wife right away and divorce her. People make mistakes. Lucas has made mistakes, serious mistakes. Ester says that she has made mistakes too but Dr. Dan is a good guy and didn’t mean to hurt Soledad. Dr. Dan says that he understands Soledad’s feelings. He should have told her that he wasn’t divorced when he started courting her. Ester says that he should give Soledad time. Soledad has a lot to think about. He leaves. Lucas asks where Antonia is.

Antonia is playing the piano at the cabaret. Manrique is impressed at her talent. The judge comes in. Margot sees that he is wearing military boots. If Margot can get his boot, Arturo won’t go to jail. She dumps the police officer for the judge.

Soledad and Ursula-

S: I don’t know how I was strong enough to resist the temptation to be with Hugo, Ursula. One of the reasons I stopped was Michelle. I don’t want to betray her friendship.
U: Michelle would never reproach you. She knows that Hugo loves you.
S: Do you think that obsession could be mistaken for love? How can I love a man who has hurt me so much, betrayed me, tortured me. A man I don’t trust. I don’t understand, Ursula. I feel that I love him. I feel that I hate him. Couldn’t that be an obsession? You’ve been a witness to this. I tried to get away from Hugo. I tried with all my strength even to the point of giving Daniel a chance because he is a good man and then he lies to me. He did the same thing to me that Hugo did when he was pretending to be Alcides.
U: But no one has done what that man did for you. He came to your house and kidnapped you for love. That seems so romantic to me. Don’t keep suffering. I know I don’t have much experience but you just said that love involves sacrifice. Don’t you think that love is also about forgiveness?
S: I would like to forgive him, Ursula, but I can’t. I’m afraid. I don’t know.
U: Hugo has changed a lot. He regrets everything that he did.
S: Hugo is for Michelle.
U: You know that’s not true.
S: I don’t know. I think.. I need to be alone. I have a lot to think about.
She leaves the room.

Lucas asks Ester where Antonia is and she gives him the millionaire piano lessons story. Lucas is ashamed that not only do his women have to work to support the household, they have to work at night. Soledad comes in and says that she needs some air to clear her head. Ester starts promoting Dr. Dan. He didn’t mean to hurt her. She should try and understand… Soledad asks who is going to understand her. She asks her mother not to interfere in her decisions. Soledad goes out on the porch, “Could it be that in spite of everything, I have to marry Daniel and leave San Marino to get you out of my life Hugo?” she says and flashes back to Antonia telling her that losing an engagement ring is a bad omen. “A bad omen,” she repeats. A hand on her shoulder, it’s Hugo. She asks what he is doing there. “I came to bring you this,” he says, “it’s your engagement ring from Daniel von Chirac.” The credits roll.

Tomorrow- Alcides pretends to be Hugo.

La Traición, Mon., June 16- Soledad is stupid; Hugo is crushed; Arturo is arrested; Alcides is in funds and Paquito is trying to clean up

In the mine, Hugo tries to get Soledad back

Antonia asks Eloisa where she got the pearl necklace

Alcides tells Hercu-less to go find Dr. Dan's wife

Doña Gladis lowers herself to visit Margót

'Houdini' Hugo steals Soledad's engagement ring while kissing her hand

Soledad pulls away from Hugo’s kiss:
S: I can’t. It’s not fair.
H: Of course, it’s not fair. You think two people who love each other so much should be separated? It’s not fair.
S: Hugo, don’t you realize? I’m wearing the engagement ring of another man.
H: A man that you don’t love!
S: Hugo, please. We have to end this. Let’s try to make new lives for ourselves.
H: Yes, let’s do it, let’s do it together. With our daughter we could live far, far, far away.
S: I can’t do that, Hugo. Daniel has been so good to me. He’s never treated me badly. On the contrary, he’s been wonderful.
H: If he’s a good man, he’ll understand. I don’t want to lose you. I don’t want to and I can’t (“no quiero y no puedo’).
S: Don’t you realize that every time you kiss me, it reminds me of the kisses you gave me when you were pretending to be Alcides.
H: Why? Why do you insist on making me think that you can’t forgive me?
S: It’s not about forgiving. We can’t be together. Please don’t pressure me any more.
H: I love you. Even if you run from me, do what you will, no matter what happens, I will never stop loving you. I adore you.
S: Stop! (She runs away.)
H: Where are you going? Soledad?

Eloisa can’t believe that Ursula has told her that Hugo kidnapped Soledad. Ursula says that it is true. It caught them all by surprise. Eloisa says that they have to notify the authorities. Hugo might hurt Soledad. Ursula says Hugo is a not bad person. He was upset at learning that Soledad had gotten engaged to Dr. Dan since he is still in love with her. The Obragon witches and Lucas come in. Eloisa again says that the authorities should be notified about Soledad. Ester says that Dr. Dan and the guards went after Hugo. Antonia’s eagle eye spots Eloisa’s new string of pearls right away. She flashes back to asking Eloisa why the door to Soledad’s bedroom was locked. She tells Eloisa that when she saw her a few minutes ago, she wasn’t wearing this necklace.

Arturo tells that judge that the mere suspicion that he had anything to do with Aurora’s kidnapping is an insult to his reputation, his military career and his name. It’s crazy. The judge says that he doesn’t see any problem with Arturo showing them the sole of his boots (‘la suela de sus botas’). The judge pulls out a drawing of the footprints that he wants to compare Arturo’s boots with. Arturo says that this is truly humiliating. The judge says that we can do this the easy way or my men can force you to do it. Arturo shows the judge the sole of his boot and the judge compares it to the drawing.

Alcides repeats the information that he has just received with evident satisfaction – Dr. Chirac is a married man. “That’s to your benefit, isn’t it?” ask Hercu-less who is always a little slow on the uptake. Alcides says that for some obscure (‘turbia,’ literally, ‘like a muddy stream’) reason, Dr. Dan hasn’t divorced his wife. He tells Herc that he has an important mission for him. “At your service,” responds Herc. Alcides turns around and looks at Herc saying that he seems to be in a very good mood today. Herc replies that it is true. Margot came back to him. “You took her back from Arturo without my help. I congratulate you,” says Alcides, “You are one up on that idiot.” He asks for his bowl of nuts and tells Herc to listen carefully. He has to find Dr. Dan’s wife.

Dr. Dan is still riding around looking for Soledad.

Hugo runs after Soledad and grabs her.
H: Don’t go any farther. Don’t go deeper into the mine. It’s dangerous.
S: Let me go!
H: Listen to me. There’s no way out that way. This is an unstable mine. It’s dangerous.
S: It’s dangerous being near you.
H: Don’t say that. I would never hurt you.
S: You wouldn’t hurt me. Hugo, you’ve hurt me so much.
H: That’s in the past, in the past. I made mistakes because you married my brother. I was jealous and confused but that’s in the past. (He kisses her hand.) It’s in the past.
S: Even if I forgot everything that happened in the past, you still hurt me today, right now. Don’t you realize that every time you speak of love, it’s as if you stab a knife right into my heart (‘es como si me clavaras un puñal en el corazon’)? Your kisses hurt me. Hugo, your touch kills me because I love you and I don’t want to love you.
H: You see. We can’t run from our destiny. We can’t run from our feelings. Our love is stronger than everything. It is. If this ring is keeping you away from me, then let me take it off for you. (Hugo starts to take the ring off Soledad’s finger but she snatches it back.)

Ester and Lucas scold Antonia for being rude to their guest but Antonia holds her ground. She insists that Eloisa was not wearing that necklace when she came in to Soledad’s room earlier. Eloisa tells Antonia that she hopes that Antonia isn’t accusing her of stealing the necklace from Soledad. Ursula confirms that the necklace is not Soledad’s. Eloisa says that she had the necklace in her hand because it fell off when she lay down in Soledad’s room. Eloisa says that Antonia is confused just like Eloisa was confused when she thought that Antonia was related to the pianist at the club. Antonia backs down immediately and apologizes. Eloisa says that she has to leave. She will do everything she can to find Soledad.

Gladis comes in and asks what is going on. The judge says that he is on a criminal investigation. He puts Arturo under arrest for suspicion of kidnapping Aurora. Gladis is impactada and Arturo protests his innocence. The police take him away. (They didn’t put handcuffs on Arturo. When Hugo gets arrested, he always politely holds out his wrists for the handcuffs.) Gladis says that there has to be a mistake. The judge tells her not to interfere with the workings of justice. If she wants to help her son, she should do it through legal means. That’s what lawyers are for. He leaves.

Hercu-less says to Alcides that this means he has to travel and find von Chirac’s wife. Alcides says that he wants Dr. Dan’s wife here in San Marino. Herc says what if she doesn’t want to come. Alicdes says that they will resolve that with money. Alcides looks at his watch and says to himself that if Eloisa doesn’t show up in half an hour, he’ll have to go after her. He tells himself to relax. She can’t have betrayed him. He tells Herc that they’ll discuss what to do when he finds Dr. Dan’s wife.

Dr. Dan has found Hugo’s horse and deduced that he took Soledad into the mine.

Hugo and Soledad in the mine-
H: If you don’t love von Chirac, why are you doing this?
S: Because one day I will love him.
H: That day will never come.
S: That day will come when I tear you out of my heart. That day I will really be free, Hugo. Please, find Michelle. I am going to keep my word with Daniel.
H: I can’t go find Michelle because she left me.
S: It was our fault, Hugo!
H: Because she realized that I could never stop loving you.
S: Let me go, please. (Hugo releases her hand.) Hugo, I’m so sorry. I’m engaged to Daniel von Chirac and I’m going to get married. Find Michelle. Make her happy. She deserves it. (She leaves.)

The Obragon witches are worried about what has happened to Soledad. Lucas says Hugo would never hurt her. Ester and Lucas leave the room. Ursula says to Antonia that it is strange that Eloisa would lock herself in Soledad’s room. Antonia agrees. She found Eloisa there before Hugo came. Antonia says that she doesn’t trust Eloisa. She is up to something.

Hercu-less says that he needs money to go on this trip. Alcides says that he will have it this afternoon. Eloisa slithers in and she’s not wearing the necklace. Alcides asks why she is so late. “Did you think I betrayed you?” asks Eloisa. Alcides sends Herc away. Alcides asks if she brought what he asked. Was she in the treasure room? Eloisa asks him to check for himself. She raises her skirt to show one of the gold bars.

Soledad is walking out of the mine alone. She looks back. She starts to go back but Dr. Dan appears. He asks if she is ok. She says that she is fine. He asks about Hugo. Hugo appears and sees them together. He calls Soledad’s name really loudly. The mine collapses. Dr. Dan and Soledad are ok. Hugo doesn’t answer. Soledad and Dr. Dan start to move the rubble to find Hugo.

Antonia tells Ursula that whatever Eloisa was looking for in Soledad’s room, they won’t find it. They should concentrate on finding Soledad. Ursula hesitantly volunteers that she might be able to find out something. She is friends with Hugo’s servant, Boris. She can go ask him. Ursula asks Antonia not to mention this to Ester. Antonia agrees and Ursula leaves.

Boris is in the workshop when Manrique and another guy come in. They ask for Hugo and Boris says that he isn’t there. The guy is a weapons collector and Manrique has told him that Hugo makes good swords. Boris has the one that Hugo made for Michelle and shows it to him. The guy has never seen a better sword. He offers to pay a lot of money for it.

“I will get about 50 thousand pesos for these two gold bars and with that I will be able (‘podré’) to survive for a few days,” says Alcides. “You mean we will be able (‘podremos’),” says Eloisa. Alcides says that he will give Eloisa her share this afternoon when he exchanges the ingots for cash. He asks if anyone suspected anything. Eloisa says no, everything went fine. Alcides asks if she buried Michelle’s body and Eloisa says that it was horrible but she put it into the catacombs like he said. Alcides asks if there is anything Eloisa wants to tell him. She asks what he is referring to. Alcides says that if she could have stolen anything from the treasure vault and if that’s the case, she should tell him.

It’s nice to see Arturo in jail for once. Gladis comes to see him. She is babbling about how they have to get him out of the prison before everyone finds out. Arturo tells her to shut up. If she wants to help him, she has to go get Margot and bring her to the jail. Margot is the only one who can get him out. Gladis shakes her head and walks away.

Soledad hopes that nothing bad happened to Hugo. Dr. Dan says that they will get him out. Soledad says that she doesn’t hear Hugo’s voice. Dr. Dan should hurry. Soledad starts screaming Hugo’s name and Dr. Dan tells her to be careful or she will cause another collapse. Finally, she sees Hugo under the rubble. Dr. Dan digs him out. Hugo says that he is ok, just a few bruises. Dr. Dan says that he should be checked out. The impacts could have after effects. “At this point,” says Hugo, “nothing worse could happen to me.” Dr. Dan offers to help him crawl out of the rubble but Hugo says he can do it alone. “I’m used to having my world crash down around me." (‘Ya estoy acostumbrado a que el mundo me caiga encima,’ literally 'fall down on top of me.') Soledad says again that Hugo should go to the hospital but Hugo replies that he should go to the police station because he tried to kidnap Soledad.

Alcides is waiting for Eloisa to answer. He asks if she took any jewels from the treasure. Eloisa says that she is offended. Alcides points out that there are so many valuable things in the vault. Eloisa replies that they are partners and she wouldn’t risk him cutting her throat by stealing what doesn’t belong to her. She says that instead of suspecting her, he should listen to what she found out at the Obragon house. It is a barrel of gunpowder about to explode (‘un barril de pólvora a punto de estallar.’) Alcides asks her to tell him. She tells him that Soledad accepted Dr. Dan’s proposal and Hugo kidnapped her the moment he found out. She says that she isn’t telling him this so that he will go crazy but just so he knows what’s going on. She says that Hugo kidnapping Soledad isn’t the problem but Soledad accepting Dr. Dan’s proposal is. Alcides says that marriage will never take place. Dr. Dan is a married man. Eloisa is impactada.

Someone is knocking at Margot’s door. It’s Gladis. She tells Margot that although she can’t stand her, Arturo needs to see her. He’s in jail.

In jail, Arturo tells himself that he has to persuade Margot to help him. She is the only one who can get him out of jail. He flashes back to putting the baby in the cabaña. He castigates himself for not realizing that he had left footprints. He tells himself to relax. He knows what he has to do.

Boris says that the sword is not for sale. Hugo made it as a gift for someone very special. Manrique says that they are offering him a lot of money. Boris says that he is sorry but only Hugo can make the decision to sell the sword and he’s not here. The guy leaves money for Hugo to make a sword exactly like that one. Boris takes the commission. Manrique and the guy leave. Ursula comes in and asks if Boris has any news of Hugo and Soledad. Boris says no. He tells Ursula not to worry. He is sure they are fine.

Dr. Self Righteous says that there is no need for the police. What Hugo did was terrible but sometimes people act on irrational impulses. Hugo says that nevertheless he deserves to go to jail. Soledad says that she won’t file charges. Hugo takes Soledad’s hand and kisses it. “Forgive me,” says Hugo to Soledad, “Forgive me. It won’t happen again.” Dr. Dan says that he ran into the judge at Hugo’s cabaña and told him what had happened. Now he has to see the judge and tell him everything is ok. Hugo says that the judge was at his house investigating Aurora’s kidnapping. Hugo says that he wants to find the guilty parties. Dr. Dan asks if Soledad is ok. She says yes. To herself she says, “My God, why must I give up the man I love?” (why indeed?) She asks Hugo again to go to the hospital. “No Soledad,” responds Hugo, “no doctor will ever be able to cure my wounds.” Soledad and Dr. Dan go off hand in hand. Soledad looks back at Hugo. “Why, Soledad? Why?” asks Hugo, “I love you.” He says “Yo te amo,” to her silently like he did on the gallows and then we see that he has Soledad’s engagement ring.

Hugo looks at the engagement ring and gets on his horse. The guards show up and ask where Soledad is. Hugo says that she has gone home. They don’t believe him. He starts to ride away but they fire a warning shot. Hugo returns, gives them his gun and rides off.

Arturo has a visitor. It’s Margot. He is glad to see her. She asks him to tell her that he did not commit this atrocity. Arturo says that she can prove his innocence. She asks him again to tell her that it isn’t true. He asks her if she thinks he is capable of kidnapping a baby. She doesn’t think so (you don’t know Arturo very well, Margot and he didn’t tell you he didn’t do it). Arturo tells Margot that she has to help him prove his innocence by going to the cabaret and stealing one or more of the boots of police officers who frequent the place. All guys in the legal field wear the same kind of boots. Arturo will be able to show that his boot print is not unique. (Couldn’t a lawyer make that argument, Arturo?)

At the cabaret, Paquito is trying to clean the couch where Deborah’s body was but the stain won’t come off. Eloisa comes in and gives him a fright. She asks if he can’t afford someone to clean the furniture. She realizes his hiding something from her and finds the bloodstains. She asks who he killed.

Ester is worried that it is so late and Soledad hasn’t returned. Lucas announces that Dr. Dan has brought Soledad back. Soledad explains that Hugo took her to the mine. Ester says that the mine is a dangerous place. Dr. Dan says that Hugo was the one in danger. There was a collapse and Hugo was trapped but he and Soledad got Hugo out. Lucas asks if Hugo is ok and Soledad replies that it wasn’t anything serious. Ester wants Soledad to file charges against Hugo. Soledad says no and Dr. Dan agrees. He says that Hugo acted on impulse and has already admitted he was wrong. Soledad wants to go take a bath but Dr. Dan asks if it is ok if they have a celebration of his engagement to Soledad that evening. Ester and Lucas think that is a fine idea. Soledad asks where Ursula is.

She’s kissing Boris in the workshop. Boris says that her kisses taste like honey (‘saben a miel’). Ursula likes Boris’ kisses too but that’s not why she came. She came to find out about Soledad. Boris says that Ursula knows that Hugo and Soledad love each other very much. Ursula agrees. Boris says that his how he is starting to feel about Ursula. Of course, Marina comes in and sees them kissing passionately. She leaves a card and goes out.

The police put Hugo in jail. I guess they only have one cell because he is put in the same cell as Arturo. Hugo says that he needs to speak to the judge. Hugo turns around and says to Arturo that if he is in jail, it is because he kidnapped Hugo’s daughter. Arturo says that he didn’t do it and he’ll prove his innocence. Hugo asks how Arturo is capable of committing such cruelty against a baby that can barely walk. Arturo repeats that he didn’t have anything to do with it. Arturo stands up and Hugo punches him a couple of times and discovers Arturo only has one hand.

Paquito explains how the stain got on the couch. He found Deborah there dead. Eloisa asks Paquito where the body is. She asks if the police took it. Paquito asks if she is crazy. If the police found that that there had been a murder on the night of the inauguration of his cabaret, he’d lose everything. He hid the body. Eloisa commiserates Paquito on the bad day he is having while she thinks to herself that she has just had the best moment of her life while looking at the giant treasure. She regrets that she can’t tell Paquito about it.
Paquito notices how happy Eloisa is. She says that Alcides gave her money and she wants to spend it at Paquito’s cabaret. They kiss and Paquito closes the door.

Soledad is in her bedroom. Antonia comes in and tells her that Eloisa was in her room while she was out and even more strange, she locked herself in. Soledad is not very concerned. Eloisa is her friend. Then Antonia notices that Soledad doesn’t have her engagement ring on. “The ring,” says Soledad, “I’ve lost my engagement ring.” The credits roll.

Tomorrow: Dr. Dan’s lie is exposed.
