Pasión, 01/16/08: Rules of Engagement

Ric is telling Gasparo about the camp of brigands that he and Mario spotted near the beach. Gasparo wonders how Ric knows they're pirates. The gist of Ric's answer is that it takes one to know one. "You're a pirate not by vocation, but by circumstance," Gasparo chides. Ric says he's made a pact and he's going to follow through. Gaspar says sure he will - until one of those guys runs him through with a sword. Ric retorts that in that case, he'll have the right to do the same.

Ric tells Gasparo that he and Mario saw contraband there too. Gasparo says this kind of thing is getting to be a problem for the king. Ric says he doesn't think it's fair that poor people have to pay so much (taxes, tariffs, transport, middlemen, etc.) to have things imported from Spain when they can make so many of these things locally. Gasparo essentially shrugs this off - everyone looks out for their own interests, and anyway, he doesn't make the laws.

Meanwhile, Gonzo is dining with a local dude and opines that it's quite a coincidence that Lis and Fran are traveling with a guy named Ric when they also have a relative named Ric who's a pirate. He's going to invite Ric to the inn for a drink, and he wants this local guy to say whether he's the pirate or not. The guy agrees, but I get the feeling that he'd recognize anyone for you if the price is right.

Gasparo asks for an update on Lis's inheritance situation. Ric fills him in on the Mystery of the Missing ED Letter and how he thinks Fran probably bribed the doctor to write it in the first place. He doesn't see any reason to deprive Cami of her inheritance anyway.

Gasparo says now that Bermeo has confessed to framing Ric on Tim's behalf, Ric ought to be able to sue for his own father's inheritance. Ric doesn't want to do that either. He's got plenty of money. He gets all serious and asks Gasparo if he can entrust him with something. Gasparo looks worried - like he's expecting Ric to confess to something very awful. But no; Ric is in love! Wheeeee! Gasparo's thrilled. "This is just what you need, get married, retire, live a normal life! Who's the lucky girl?"

Ric says it's Camila. "You just love trouble," Gasparo chuckles. He encourages Ric in his pursuit and says he's sure to win her over.

Jimena is trying to convince Cami that fate brought them together. She hadn't seen him in over a year, then he shows up and wants to get married. Cami still isn't as jumping-up-and-down excited about this as Jimena, but when Jimena says it's the will of God, Cami follows Jimena's eyes up to the ceiling. Jimena keeps going on about all the blessings Cami has in her life, not to mention Ursula's envy. Poor Camila says it's just happening too fast. She likes Ric and thinks he's attractive, but... Jimena says that's plenty enough reason to want to get in the sack with him!

Jorge, LaFont, and two other guys are talking about the highway attacks. They haven't found out anything yet, but it seems as though they're escalating and the guys are organized. (I'm confused about this... so are there TWO groups of highwaymen?) Jorge says, "So, are you going to nab the next caravan or not?" LaFont says it's as good as done.

Ric finally gets back to the inn, where the kid he hired to follow Gonzo yesterday reports that, among other things, Gonzo went to see Dr. Bonerfacio Gomez at the Droopy-Dingdong clinic, spoke briefly to a servant, and left. "The doctor wasn't there?" Ric asks. "Nope, poor guy died last week." Ric gives the lad a shiny nickel and sends him away.

Next day, Gasparo tells Ric that Bermeo confessed to everything. He said Tim ordered the hit, and Fran was there too but didn't say anything. He doesn't know if she'll be charged with conspiracy or not, and it will be a while before the entire case is closed. Until then, he advises Ric to go back to San Fernando while he waits for news, and continue working on Camila. He hopes he'll get to perform the wedding. Ric likes the idea, but he doesn't want to get married until he can do it with his own name.

Some people show up at the... I don't know what it's called. It's tall enough to be a door, but it's set a few inches above the floor, and is several feet above the street below, so it's more like a big window. Some people show up outside this window thingy, asking for a blessing. I don't like the window at all - it looks like a cage. If I were tuning in at just this moment and didn't know any Spanish, I'd see these two people looking up at the cardinal behind those bars and wonder if it was some kind of twisted zoo exhibit.

Gasparo seems surprised that Ric is going under a false name; I thought he was the one who got him the fake creds in the first place. Eh, whatever. Gasparo says he'll speak to the viceroy about getting his name cleared. It's not safe for Ric to stay here in the meantime. And if he brings the highwaymen to justice, the king would pardon him for his past pirately deeds.

The next boat to Mexico doesn't leave for three days. Ric declines to buy a ticket and says he'll think about it. He runs into Gonzo, who apologizes for being unfriendly to him earlier, and invites him to the inn for a drink at 5:00. (As he walks away, it looks as though Gonzo is checking him out!)

Next, Ric visits a (supposedly Chinese, but anybody can wear a long black wig and a Fu Manchu mustache) friend he addresses as "Chino." (I assume this is only a nickname... a really feeble one.) It appears that Chino... well, let's just tactfully say that he's a recycler... of contraband and stolen goods.

He's planning a boat trip this afternoon which would get Ric safely out of La Mariana. He's vague about who his customers are. Ric hints around about the Veracruz highwaymen, but Chino says it's not worth the considerable effort and risk to get involved with such people. Ric asks if Foreman is mixed up in any of it. Chino isn't sure, but he wouldn't put it past him.

Then Ric goes to the cemetery to visit his mother's grave and tell her the good news about clearing himself of the murder charge, because he knows she always doubted him. He asks what happened between her and Tim - why all the hate? But Mom's not in a chatty mood. (If anyone's wondering about the lengthy inscription on her tomb, don't worry, it's just generic tombstone stuff.)

Gonzo meets with his hungry local friend at the inn and they split a small pitcher of wine. As night falls, they realize Ric's not coming. The friend says he's going to Havana tomorrow, and Gonzo's going back to Nueva España, so they say good bye. Parting is such sweet sorrow.

Over in Nueva España, Mario strolls through the plaza with Cami and Jimena. They chat about Ric's house (it's almost ready), and how they hope he comes back soon. They run into Jorge. "Oh, what a surprise," Jimena says in a borderline-sarcastic tone. "What surprise? We all live here, don't we?" He invites himself to escort Cami to her house for a talk. Mario grumbles disapprovingly as Jorge and Cami pull ahead. Jimena, who has her arm chummily wrapped around Mario's, says Cami's no fool.

Jorge is miffed that Cami didn't tell him about her plan to marry Ric, when he was being such a nice guy, unselfishly trying so hard to find her a husband. Cami says thanks, that was nice of you, and tries to explain the mixup, with her father going to see Jorge before Ric had a chance to discuss things with Justo. Jorge accuses her of lying - no doubt Ric proposed, but no way did he speak to Justo. (Jimena and Mario look worried.)

They pull ahead a bit further, so Jimena and Mario can't hear. He reminds Cami that as the boss hog of San Fernando, he has to give his consent to the marriage, and he can also exercise his right to bang her before the wedding.

She very, unbelievably, incredibly, Valiumly calmly tells him that this "right" doesn't apply to widows, and anyway, he wasn't able to do it when he had the chance. He says that's only because she escaped. They've got unfinished business, so she has to let him do it.

Cami very composedly says she doesn't think Ric would go for that, so she's just going to have to go ahead and say no. She also reminds him that as far as everyone else knows, he already did it, so he doesn't get to do it again. He says no one else needs to know about this. If she lets him do it before Ric comes back, then he won't object when Ric asks permission to marry her.

He kisses her hand and leaves. I think they should keep a wire brush and a jug of hot bleach to wash off ofter getting a hand-kiss from him, but she doesn't even wipe it off on her skirt. That's what I call ladylike manners. She doesn't tell Jimena and Mario what Jorge said; she takes off to talk to her father.

Ofelia, Ines, Manuela, and some other people are helping out at Ric's new house. Ines says she has a tummyache and asks Ofelia to excuse her. Ofelia asks her to meet with Saintly on the way home. Lis also asks Ines to tell Saintly she'd like to come by tomorrow to admire the forge's light. (I swear she seems sincere.) Manuela and Fran wonder what's wrong with Ines. Manuela thinks she seems sad.

Ines schlumps on out of there, then begins running when the house is out of sight. She runs, not to the forge, but to the mill, where Vasco is putting in his ten minutes of work per week. She tells him how anxious she is about this whole situation. "Yeah, I realize it's a little tough." "A LITTLE?" she gasps. She's desperate. Every day she hopes that he's spoken to Saintly, but no. She doesn't care if he hits her or yells at her (maybe she should work something out with LaFont), as long as he gets permission to marry her.

He takes her in his arms and says he's been waiting for the right time, but Saintly is always in a bad mood. She begs him to just do it. He needs a few more days. She badgers him only a tiny bit more, and then he admits that what happened between them really didn't mean much to him. It wasn't love, it was just lust.

Ines gives him a well-deserved slap. He grabs her roughly and yells, "If you think that's the way to get yourself a man, you're very much mistaken!!" She begs his forgiveness and says she's desperate. He says he's desperate too. Not only would he have to face her brother, but also his father and her mother.

He calms down and says she's going to have to marry Ascanio. Then he apologizes and says he just needs more time. Everything will work out. He takes her in his arms again and kisses her.

Guess who just moved to the top of my list of people I hope get run over by a pie cart.

At the forge, Ascanio shows off his first lantern. Claudio says it's all crooked. Saintly says it's not bad for a first try. Hans said that he and Franz would show him their first efforts, except Saintly melted them down. "Are you going to melt this one?" Ascanio asks Saintly. Saintly says no - he's going to keep it around as a warning for others who would wish to become blacksmiths. "Hey, this was your idea. I always had my doubts!" Saintly says he'll learn. Life is all about learning. Thusly inspired, Claudio asks Hans and Franz for an impromptu lesson on blacksmithing.

Ascanio tells Saintly he needs to find a place to live. Saintly suggests Justo's. Ines shows up with her message from Ofelia (but not Lis). It's practically a drive-by. Claudio hurries after her. Ascanio mutters to Saintly that his sister didn't seem very happy to see him.

Ines is crying by the time Claudio catches up to her. He tries to get her to talk. He tells her that when she convinced him to talk about his mother's death, he felt better. She tells him they want her to marry a guy she doesn't find thoroughly objectionable, but she's in love with someone else. (She ought to talk to Ursula sometime about what it's like to marry a nasty old creep when you're 15 years old.) Saintly told her the guy's not good for her, but she loves him! She loooooves him!

She runs off, leaving Claudio to walk alone across the plaza... and across the path of LAZARO!!!

It is at this moment that Ric's pirates discover that Lazaro's left. Jesus (I think this guy is the one named Jesus) flips out, saying Mario told them not to leave. They worry how Mario will react if Lazaro doesn't return before Mario comes back.

Lazaro is muy, pero MUY impactado to see Claudio chatting with Mario in the street. Mario pats the boy on the shoulder and leaves. Lazaro follows Claudio to Camila's house.

Lis, Fran, and Manuela are at Ofelia's when Mario shows up. Lis says the place is now ready, thanks to Ofelia's and Manuela's help. Just a few more things to bring tomorrow. Lis remarks to Manuela how nice Ofelia is. Manuela agrees that the whole family is nice.

Mario brusquely interrupts and asks to speak to Lis alone; she pulls away when he tries to take her arm, but walks alongside him. (In the background, Manuela tells Fran that this guy is weird-looking. "He works for Ricardo," Fran replies. Manuela falls all over herself apologizing, unaware of Fran's deep disdain for the man.)

Mario tells Lis that Ric has ordered that his men should stay in the barn; he needs them to protect the place. Lis hates the idea, but says fine, go get them now and we'll talk. She calls for her aunt and says she'll tell her about it later.

As they arrive at Jorge's, Manuela asks Lis if "that man" said something to upset her, because she's been so quiet. Lis pretends to have a headache. Sofia and Fortunata ask about the house. Fortunata wants them to wait for Ric to come back before they move in; Lis says he could be back at any time. Ursula bitchily asks what he's doing on that island anyway. Fran and Lis thank Manuela for her help and excuse themselves.

"So, what are you supposed to be now, the blind girl's servant or something?" Ursula snipes. Bravely locking eyes with... um... the table, Manuela says that it's especially because Lis is blind that she thought it would be right to help. Ursula mocks Manuela some more, "You can hang around with her all the time if you want," she says, but they'll get tired of her and she'll die alone of sadness at home. She stalks off.

Fortunata tries to make excuses for Ursula, saying she's upset because her suitor's coming soon, and she doesn't want to marry him. Manuela explains that she's trying to have other friends, and and her father thought Lis would be a good companion for her. (Sofia grunts suspiciously.) Fortunata says she hopes Ursula does marry this guy, because in her opinion, the reason Ursula's always in such a bad mood is because she needs a man. Sofia says Ursula's always been in a bad mood, and she sincerely pities the poor guy who marries her.

Manuela very timidly asks Sofia about the husband-search on her own behalf. (Sofia exchanges a cautious glance with Fortunata, who looks at Manuela with sympathy. Jeez, I know she's a little mousy, but she's not ugly!) Sofia tactfully says it's taking a while to find someone with all the qualities a young woman would like. Manuela says none of those things matter to her, as long as he's patient with her and won't beat her. (Part of me feels sorry for her, part of me wants to smack her for being so pathetic.) Fortunata's face becomes even more comically pitying.

Up in their room, Lis and Fran wonder why Ric ordered his thugs to stay on his property. All Fran can say is that she doesn't want to stay at Jorge's house any longer, or she'll die of disgust. Anyway, she doesn't believe the thugs are really there just to protect them; after all, no one's threatened them. But maybe they're after Ric. Who knows why he's really in San Fernando, Fran muses. Supposedly he's there to get Cami's inheritance back for Lis, but he doesn't seem to have any intention of actually doing it. There must be some other reason he's there. "He would have told me," Lis insists. Fran says if that's the case, that he would tell her everything, then surely he'd have told her why they need the protection of his crew.

Lis gazes thoughtfully into the distance. (I swear, just as we cut to commercial, I can see her eyes focusing.)

Downstairs, Fortunata and Sofia speculate as to whether LaFont beats his daughter. Fortunata doubts it, but Sofia believes he's maybe even more cruel than Jorge. Fortunata expresses surprise that Jorge is cruel; Sofia actually has to remind her of Jorge's bad qualities. She accuses Fortunata of seeing the world through rose-colored glasses.

Fortunata asks about the mysterious trip Sofia took with Justo. Sofia regales her with an insane tale of a clandestine picnic of passion. She smirks as Fortunata scurries behind her, begging for details. (Heh, that might have been just a tiny bit cruel, too.)

Saintly and Ascanio approach the pub; Saintly sees Vasco drinking with his friend. (I just noticed Vasco and his friend are wearing matching outfits. Que the hell? Did I miss something?) He suggests to Ascanio that they go someplace else. Too bad, because Saintly misses out on a great conversation.

Vasco is saying that Ines could spill the beans on him at any moment; he's thinking of leaving town. The friend seems to think that the problem will go away on its own if he simply does nothing, but Vasco says Santiago will just spy on him. He'd like to go to "the capitol" (I'm not sure which capitol, or where), but he's out of money. The friend asks about that "information" Vasco was thinking of selling. Vasco isn't sure how to go about it.

The friend says he'll help, but what is Vasco trying to do? Vasco admits that he's considering getting some money out of his sister. He hates to do it, because she loves her. The friend says he loves her too, but need comes first!

I take back what I said before about wanting Vasco to get hit by a pie cart. I want it to be a big wagon full of scorpions. Giant ones, with fangs and claws in addition to stingers. And guns.

Over dinner, Santiago explains Ines's weird behavior to Ascanio. She's always had a thing for Vasco. Saintly loves Vasco like a brother, but he's a irresponsible, embezzling, gambling, boozing disaster. He cheated on his previous wife (actually "woman," which may or may not refer to a n actual wife) every chance he got, may she rest in peace. And now there are rumors about him and Ursula. Ascanio thinks they should just give Ines some time to get over Vasco. He doesn't think it's good to force someone to marry, and he personally doesn't want a hostile wife. He's honored that Saintly and his mom thought so highly of him, but if Saintly doesn't want to go on with the blacksmith apprenticeship, he'll understand. Saintly doesn't let him out of it so easily. :-)

At the hideout, the pirates are still flipping out about Lazaro's disappearance, and there are complaints about the quality of their liquor. Lazaro is peeping in from above.

Claudio is complaining to Jimena that the current marriage rules aren't fair. Jimena says marriage among the rich is just business. Cami says it can be for the poor, too. They could combine their properties and have more stuff. Claudio is still worried. Cami asks where this is coming from. Is someone being forced to marry against her will? Claudio clams up.

At bedtime, Cami tells Jimena all about Jorge's demand that she let him have another crack at her before he gives Ric permission to marry her. Painfully practical Jimena thinks this is the simplest way to go. Cami says no, Ric's going to have to take care of this. Jimena is shocked that Cami's willing to let Ric risk his life over this, rather than make this one little sacrifice on her own. Cami says she's not going to let Jorge bully her. She wants a man who'll promise to protect her, and then follow through.

Jimena points out that Ric isn't a god who can win every battle. Then she realizes, oh hell, now Cami really does think he's a god. Cami says no, but she has to trust someone; and she'll feel safer when he's in town. Jimena leaves, and Cami has a momentary flashback or fantasy of making out with Ric.

Mario and (is it Jesus? I don't know!) talk business on their way to the hideout. I don't get every word of this, but evidently some friend of theirs is on their way to meet them... as part of a caravan. And there's some discussion of getting the guys moved over to Ric's ASAP, because they're getting restless.

The first thing Mario notices when they get to the hideout is that Lazaro is missing. As expected, he takes the news extremely poorly. Jesus says he was out buying food when it happened, they tried to stop Lazaro, but you know how he is. Camila's name comes up, but I don't understand what they're talking about. Mario says something about hogtieing Lazalo .

He hightails it back to town to look for Lazaro. He searches all the obvious places - bars, restaurants, and of course Porky's, the bordello, where he has to fend off an amorous employee.

BAM! It's nighttime.

LaFont is in the woods with his men, waiting for the caravan to arrive. Their scout reports that there are eight uniformed guards, and a wagon with two big trunks. The rival group of highwaymen (the non-Ric pirates) also wait. The pirates suspect that someone else is around, but this doesn't bother them much.

The caravan arrives. The pirates make their move. LaFont watches the melee unfold. The noise wakes Lazaro, who has been camping nearby. It's hard to follow the action, but some guy - I'm not sure if he's someone we're supposed to know or not, he might be the friend that Mario and Jesus were talking about - is savagely beaten by one of the pirates and left for dead. The pirates ride off with the horses and other treasures.

Mario's goes back to the hideout, and is told that someone else is now AWOL. Mario isn't amused by the suggestion that this guy is out with a woman. One of the men complains (I think) that they don't know what they're supposed to be doing.

LaFont sends his men after the pirates. The man on the ground struggles to stay conscious, because he doesn't want this creepy guy with the rooster hair to be the last thing he sees before he dies.

Amar Sin Limites #123, Wednesday 1-16: Azulcena is no more, long live Azul. Or something.

Well, this is my last Amar Sin Limites recap. It's been quite a ride, and now we're on that downhill run, so buckle up and grab your beverage of choice!

I'm skipping the leftovers and heading straight to the part where Gloria pulls Diego to one side of the altar to tell him that Silvana was never pregnant and that Manuel is in on the fake-baby scam. Diego is impactado and stares at Silvana, but says nothing. Chucho looks on, wondering what's going on up there.

Diego and Gloria go back to their places and the priest begins the ceremony. Gloria whispers to Anibal that the wedding is going to stop at some point for lack of a groom. Anibal is understandably confused. Clemencia also looks like she heard something. Silvana is so oblivious that she doesn't think anything of Diego's completely bewildered look.

Emilia watches the wedding on TV (oh, come on, they're not that famous!) and tells the maid she can go home, since she's just going to watch the wedding. Oh, no! On the TV, Bruno makes a comment about the sobrio (somber) dress that Clemencia is wearing.

Arnaldo, GSD, Ceci, Azul, and LuisFe are all crammed in a car trying to get to the orphanage and hitting every red light along the way.

The wedding continues. Lidia is lovey with Tavo (awwwww, that's cute). Lidia comes up with the rings and the priest blesses them. Caty looks upset and is being comforted by Clemencia. Gloria thought bubbles "WTF is Diego still doing up there?" or close enough, anyway. Clemencia and Anibal come up with the coins and the priest blesses them. (Since I had to explain the coins to my husband, I'll do it here as well: They get poured into the hands of the bride and groom to symbolize the couple's future prosperity. My parents still have theirs in a little silver box in the china cabinet.)

Then we get to the questions, and NO, Diego says he will not take Silvana as his wife with all the etc. etc. that goes with it. Silvana says "Uh, he asked if you wanted to marry me" and Diego replies "Yeah, I heard." Diego now takes the spotlight from Silvana and spills all the beans to the assembled crowd of reporters (and I swear, there are more of them than there are wedding guests). "How could I marry a woman who, even knowing how I suffered after my wife's death, when she found out my wife hadn't died, hid it from me? How can I share my life with a woman who took advantage of my suffering to enredar (entangle) me? A woman who, as a reason for me to marry her, used something as sacred as a child? A false child. Silvana, you're not expecting a child." As he has his moment of vengeance, the priest, rather than doing the sensible thing and asking them to have this conversation elsewhere, just turns to the altar and prays.

Outside, Bruno announces that Diego has rejected Silvana. He points out all the confused faces inside.

Silvana tries to insist that she's telling the truth about the baby. Diego's like "hey, we're in the house of God, here" and "have a little DIGNITY" (very dignified of him to scream, there). He tells Silvana that Gloria told him what she heard Silvana and Manuel saying. Clemi can't believe Silvana would tell such a big lie. Oh, come on, Clemi, have a little imagination. Diego wants everyone to know that the two of them were planning to tell him she'd lost the baby.

Watching on TV, Emilia says "Silvana, what have you done?" Well, Emilia, I think Diego's explaining it pretty well, there, so….

Silvana struggles to come up with a way to deny it, but can't put a sentence together.

In the back of the church, Ceci tells Azul to get up there and tell what Silvana done, but Azul thinks this is bad enough as is and grabs LuisFe for cover.

Silvana now tries to blame her mother, since Gloria's "always" tried to ruin her life. Then Manuel comes up and, instead of supporting Silvana like Silvana thought he would, he says it was all her. So, basically "the devil made me do it." Silvana asks forgiveness and Diego tells her to ask God for it because he can't forgive her. Oh, yeah, and in case he hasn't been clear enough, he also can't marry her. Dude, we already got that memo. As Silvana screams his name, Diego starts walking back up the aisle and Clemi comes over to hug him. And cry.

Azul peeks out from behind LuisFe as we go to commercials. When we return, Azul starts having flashes of her old life more quickly than I can type. Lots of orange flashes.

The priest, quite unnecessarily (see above re: memo) says that due to what's happened here, the wedding is off. He asks God to forgive the descarriados (those who have lost their way) and send them down the right road. He begs everybody to get out and remember that God's house should be respected. See, now, if God had gone all Old Testament on everyone, the priest wouldn't have needed to make that announcement. A little smiting would do some of these people good.

Caty now pops up, poor confused little moppet, and asks what happened. She also was not cc: -ed on the memo. Mr 5ft opines that someone must have covered her ears when it all started. That's a reasonable explanation given that Diego now has to tell her they're not getting married. She asks what about her little brother/sister and Diego doesn't answer.

Outside Bruno displays more schadenfreude (joy in the misfortune of others; see, you even get a little German tonight), "We're witnessing the downfall of Silvana Lombardo." Not that she didn't have it coming, but Bruno's not exactly a saint himself.

Emilia gets out of bed (see, that's what I was afraid of). She has a little pain when she sets both feet on the floor, but she continues getting up.

As the theme song plays, Azul and Diego (flanked by Clemi and Caty) walk towards each other. Azul has a pained expression on her face as she remembers: the first time they met; the incident with the draped red fabric; Diego macking on her after he fixed the strap on her red dress (remember that? Those were the good times). Azul's pained expression makes her nostrils flare to almost porcine proportions, and the camera angle isn't helping. She does this horrid slow-mo laugh/scream with her mouth wide open that's not terribly attractive either. Finally, she remembers the Love Shack and "Amar Sin Limites" plays as we go back to real time. They say each other's names, hug, and then suck face (Diego was trying to say something, but she shut him up).

We get a shot of Silvana crying ugly (see above re: porcine nostrils and unfortunate camera angles)--and seriously, are we supposed to care that she's sad?

More Diego and Azul sucking face. The wedding extras aren't sure what they're supposed to be doing. LuisFe is impactado. I feel only slightly sorrier for him than I do for Silvana. He also knew that a lot of what he was doing was wrong, but at least once he got hit over the head with the truth a few times he started trying to do the right thing. Azul cries and tells Diego she remembered everything all of a sudden (de golpe), he's her husband, Diego. GSD leads the standing ovation. He tells her this is proof that love has a memory. She says "Papa!" and hugs him. I will admit that this is where they got me. I could care less about her and Diego, but now she remembers everyone else. Then it's hugs for Ceci, who says she was happy to know Azul was alive, but nothing can compare to looking her in the eyes and knowing she's back. Clemi is up next (and boy, with all the hand-offs here, I bet Diego would love to have a minute alone with his not-dead wife). Caty now cries for her mami (scary, scary stuff there--either this is a brilliant young actress or, as Mr 5ft suggested, they gave her a really good scare right before the scene), poor moppet's going to wonder when Mami Liliana is scheduled to return from the dead. Lots of kisses for Caty. A hug for Anibal.

LuisFe finally turns and walks out of the chapel. Um, I guess her hugging Anibal was the last straw? I mean, I know Anibal's one of the best men on this show, but I would think that Azul sucking face with her husband would have been enough. A few reporters notice him leaving.

Diego and Azul suck face some more while squashing Caty between them. The V de G looks on.

LuisFe stands outside in the garden and thought bubbles "Goodbye, my Azucena, hasta siempre" (farewell). Commercials.

Somehow, the reporters are now outside the chapel and being held at bay by some poor nun. LuisFe comes out, but all he'll say is "I'm just the doctor for the kids in the orphanage." One of the reporters tells the nun that Silvana has to come show her face. Mario meets LuisFe outside and asks for an update. What he gets is "I lost the love of my life."

Now, out in the garden/walkway area, more hugs and crying. Manuel comes out and tries to put all the blame on Silvana and wash his hands of it. I won't repeat Manuel's pathetic attempt to get back in Diego's good graces. Clemi, in the understatement of the year calls Manuel a bad person. Lidia, Clemencia, and Diego all say they're done with him. I was hoping Diego would also tell him he's fired from the boutique (cause I'm mean like that, see above re: schadenfreude) but he doesn't. Diego and Azul kiss and hug some more, surrounded by family.

Back in the chapel, Silvana cries some more. The priest asks if she needs confession, but she says it's too much. The priest says he'll leave her with God, then and walks off. Gloria comes up and tells Silvana they're both alone now. She asks for forgiveness for following her heart no matter the price, and also because she'd do what she did (I'm guessing she means telling Diego the truth) all over again. Gloria says they've only got each other now. Silvana cries.

MS tells Azul that later she'll tell her more about the time she spent there (which I would think that Azul now remembers, but anyway). She says LuisFe bringing her there was a blessing. Azul suddenly remembers LuisFe and runs off to find him.

Manuel leaves the orphanage and runs into the reporters. He offers to show them a back way into the chapel to take pictures of Silvana…for a price, though. Parasite. Bruno asks how much for an exclusive.

Azul runs outside, shouting for LuisFe. Diego catches up and tells her the nuns said they just saw him leaving. He starts to say "I know that you and he…" and right then Emilia shows up. Uh, oh, she sure wasn't prepared for this. It's another teary reunion.

Bruno, that parasite, comes into the chapel with his camera guy, narrating that we're seeing the downfall of a woman, the full expression of loneliness. Silvana tells him to get out. She shoves Gloria out of her way and says she'd rather be dead and Gloria poisoned her life, she'll never forgive her, it's all her fault. Chucho says no, she had it coming, and even if Silvana doesn't want Gloria, he does! That Chucho's a stand-up guy. He's really impressed by what Gloria did today. Silvana curses her mother and Chucho escorts a crying Gloria out, after telling Silvana she's evil. Will they even show this on the fashion show, or just put it on YouTube? Commercials.

Emilia, Azul, and Diego go back into the orphanage. (Sit down, Emilia!) GSD comes up and starts to chew Emilia out for being there. She says she had to come console Silvana. GSD's like "you could hurt yourself!" and Emilia's like, "But Azul's alive!" GSD shuts up, since there's no counter to that. Gloria and Chucho come up and Azul forgives Gloria for "acting like a mother." She says it's all forgotten and clasps hands with Gloria.

In the back of the chapel, the reporters are still taking pictures. Silvana takes off her veil and goes over to give them a piece of her (deranged) mind. Bruno tries to spout some crap about the public having a right to know (which perhaps technically, we do, but is this really the kind of stuff we need to know?). Silvana now announces that Bruno helped her out by publishing stories about her in exchange for her sleeping with him. Now the other reporters turn on Bruno. Let's see how he likes it. He brings up the pictures of Silvana and Frijolito, which Silvana says he blackmailed her with.

Emilia comes in to console Silvana and Silvana pushes her. Cause she hasn't fulfilled her quota of evil deeds for the day, I guess. She rants about how Emilia was always on Azul's side, etc. Silvana runs off and GSD tries to calm Emilia down. Manuel stands outside, just watching everything, probably trying to think of a way to turn this to his advantage.

Out on the walkway, Gaspar shouts, "Jesus, verbo divino" (divine word), "It's the devil dressed as a bride!" Silvana now has to face Ceci, Gaspar, Efrain, Chucho, Diego, Azul, Gloria, Lidia, MS, Clemencia, none of whom are looking sympathetic except Gloria. She can't take it and runs off. Chucho stops Gloria from running after her and says they shouldn't try to help right now. Emilia and GSD come over and Emilia cries about Silvana, asking if they couldn't have stopped her. Emilia faints and GSD tells them to call a doctor. Commercials

In some restaurant, LuisFe asks Mario how he's supposed to get over Azul. Mario's semi-sympathetic. He says time will do the trick. His phone rings, with Ceci calling to tell him about Emilia, and he and LuisFe head over to GSD's.

MS and Diego confront the remaining reporters. Diego tells them they were in the house of God without permission. MS reminds them it's also private property. Diego warns them they'd better not do like Bruno and publish unsubstantiated information. He says (again) that the wedding is off, that Silvana's not having his baby, and that his real wife is alive and is his top priority.

Later, apparently, MS thanks Diego for helping her get everyone out of the orphanage. He apologizes for the circus. MS says there's no need and God works in mysterious ways. I'm not even going to touch that one. Diego asks Clemi and Anibal to take Caty home. She wants to stay with him and Azul, but he says he's going to pick her up at GSD's and they may take a while because they've got to take care of Emilia. Clemi starts to talk to Diego about being worried about Silvana. Anibal decides now would be a good time to get Caty out of earshot and he suggests they go get in the car and pretend Caty's driving. Aw. Cute. Chonita goes with them. Clemi gives Diego a hug. She says she feels really bad for Silvana, but Diego says he feels nothing for her. Clemi says that when Emilia's better, she and Emilia will figure something out, but Diego shouldn't worry about it, he should just go enjoy his wife. Is she talking about sex? Just wondering. Diego says everything seems perfect, but Azul did go running off after LuisFe. Diego says she's having LuisFe's baby, so they're going to have to figure some stuff out. Well, we know they're not, but he's still going to have to be told.

At GSD's, Mario and LuisFe arrive. Mario goes into the bedroom. LuisFe and Azul stare at each other and dramatic music plays. Ceci, metiche though she is, actually leaves the two of them alone and goes into the bedroom. Wow, that's some personal growth there.

Well, that's all from me on this show. Thanks for all the positive comments. I'll be taking up Al Diablo Con Los Guapos, so I hope to see you there. Tune in to Amar tomorrow and see what happens with Emilia's baby and the barely-there LuisFe-Azul-Diego triangle.

Amar sin Limites Tuesday January 15- Who's your daddy?

We rehash a few scenes from Monday - Ceci and Clemi trying to convince Diego to give Azul a chance while Silvana again attempts to become the one in charge, Gaspar and Julio debating what to do about Silvana and hoping to come to a decision before Gaspar becomes incapacitated with horror...

Diego leaves the room to be alone and Clemi tells Silvana to go. Silvana refuses saying that Diego is the one who says who stays and who goes. This lights a fire under Clemi and she lists a few of Silvana's faults - no morals, no values, no decency. Anibal has to calm Clemi down. But Anibal tries to argue that Azul may be happy where she is but Clemi's not buying it.

Chucho finds Gloria hiding in the boutique. He has figured out what Gloria was doing in Guadalajara, helping Silvana hide Azul. She claims she was only trying to help her daughter and the baby. Chucho is not happy with her and leaves while Gaspar lurks in the background.

Back at Diego's, the family is organizing the intervention. Julio and Arny have joined Ceci, Clemi and Anibal to argue the options of getting Azul back and getting rid of Silvana. Julio leaves to tell Diego all about Silvana's methods of career advancement.

Silvana is lamenting the fact to herself that Diego will never forgive her now. It looks like she's smiling but I think she was crying.

Julio tries to get Diego to come out and talk to him. Diego won't come out and Julio must kick in the door. All we hear is a bunch of noise and then Julio is in. Diego won't let Julio tell him anything and then requests that Julio show a little respect for his soon-to-be wife. Julio can't believe his ears. Diego has that vacant loco look in his eyes.

Arny tells the family that GSD and Emilia don't know the news yet, so as not to upset them. Julio comes back with the bad news that Diego won't listen and the wedding is still on.

Gloria, looking pretty pitiful, comes to talk to Silvana. Chucho despises them, she tells her daughter, and everyone else does too. Silvana still believes she deserves to be at Diego's side, life isn't fair, good Silvana tried to do it right but that didn't work, then bad Silvana tried and it's not working either. Gloria brings up honesty and dignity, a little late in my opinion.

Diego talks to Clemi in a robotic voice, saying he's going to marry Silvana for the sake of the children, their's and LuisFe and Azul's both. Clemi gives her best arguments but Diego plays the martyr role and will sacrifice himself.

Arny argues with Ceci to take him to see Azul. He understands that maybe she doesn't want to see her husband but he's her brother. Family. She should see him. Ceci will talk to Mario.

Out in the country, Mario and LuisFe discuss the situation. Mario cannot believe that Azul's father would have acted as Silvana said, abandoning Azul so easily. LuisFe reluctantly agrees that she should see her family but doesn't want to upset Azucena any more today. Maybe tomorrow. Mario mentions that her family deserves to know that the baby is not LuisFe's, which seems to be news to LF's mother. (I thought she knew?) I didn't catch what this conversation was about but the dramatic music played so if anyone can fill in the blanks, I'd appreciate it. I think they discussed the two babies, who fathered them and that maybe knowing who the fathers are would change the situations. Mario and LuisFe's mami convince LF that he can't make a family with Azucena until they figure all this out. Mario takes a call from Ceci. Ceci asks if Azul's brother can come see her but Mario says not today.

Diego goes to see Silvana and tells her the wedding is still on. Silvana is overwhelmed with gratitude while Diego is way underwhelmed.

LF visits Azulcena, who is looking pretty awful and resting in bed. He brings her some food but she has no appetite. LF mentions that her brother would like to visit. Azulcena is impactada because Silvana had told her that she had only her father. LF tells Azulcena about her family and that he knows her father personally. Azulcena is touched that her father really does love her and that she had people who cared. She agrees to see them, to decide for herself if it is true.

GSD is pacing and Julio and Arny are waiting. The doorbell rings and Azul has arrived to be reunited with her family. GSD is so happy to see her but Azul can't remember anything or anyone. GSD starts the introductions, but Azul still has her Azulcena look on. Azul is overwhelmed and upset that she can't remember. LF is there to comfort her. They are all uncomfortable so, like all good families, they bring out the food. It seems they have all her favorite things. She eats a grape and cries, then drinks a glass of papaya juice like she hasn't had anything to drink for weeks.

Silvana is extremely happy getting ready for her wedding. Like anyone else is going to feel like celebrating! The slimy Manuel slithers in to see Silvanita. He disgusts even her. He offers his congratulations on her imminent nuptials. Silvana thinks she has pulled off quite a feat, getting Diego to marry her even though he knows that Azul is alive. Silvana thinks that all the shadows over her happiness will be gone now but Manuel reminds her that there is one shadow left, the false pregnancy. Of course, Gloria is lurking in the doorway listening. Silvana figures she will just pretend to lose the baby in a couple months. Manuel asks what will keep Diego with her then? By then she thinks that Diego will love her and need to comfort her. Gloria hears it all.

Back at the reunion, GSD is filling Azul in on her past with Mauricio (was that this telenovela?) and how they came to think she was dead. They tell her how much Diego loved her and that he refused to believe that she was dead. They tell her that Silvana is a liar and then Julio tells them all that Silvana slept her way to the top, which is news to Ceci.

Silvana arrives at the chapel in full wedding regalia to hordes of reporters. Diego waits with Caty and Gloria, who is dressed in hot pink sequins and looking very guilty. Diego goes out to meet Silvana and sees all the press. He is mad at Silvana for telling them about the wedding. Silvana begs him not to ruin her day. Silvana says a few words for the press about her dress. If I were Diego, she would be wearing a potato sack.

The family is going through photo albums and telling Azul all about the pictures. GSD tells her about Emilia's pregnancy. Azul finds out that she is a psychologist. LuisFe is being very patient and understanding while all this is going on. He announces that the baby Azul is carrying is Diego's. LF makes the mistake of mentioning Diego's upcoming wedding. Ceci and Julio try to convince her to go stop the wedding but Azul says no. She wants to be with LuisFe.

At the chapel, Manuel arrives to give away the bride. Eeewww. The attendees start to file into the church. Gloria is looking worse and worse. She sees Chucho and goes to talk to him. She knows he'll never forgive her but she's sorry for all she's done and she will try to make it right. Chucho says, too little too late and walks away. Gloria calls Ceci and tells her that she has just found out that Silvana is not pregnant. Ceci begs Gloria to do something to stop the wedding. Ceci announces the news to the rest of the family. Everyone is impactados. Ceci begs Azul to go and stop the wedding before Diego's life is ruined by that harpy. Azul says but she doesn't love Diego.

At the chapel, the wedding music plays, the groom arrives at the altar and the bride begins her grand entrance with Manuel hanging onto his meal ticket's arm. Gloria finally steps up! She calls out to Diego while Silvana hisses at her. Gloria goes up to the front of the church to tell Diego that Silvana was never pregnant. Don't mind all those people watching. Diego glares at Silvana and she looks only slightly sick.....

Until next episode...

Pasion 01-15-2008 "Justo: A Man in Search of a Spine"

Before I begin, I must confess Oklahoma lost its Univision Digital Cable and after rebooting the cable box and trying to get it, I was forced to watch it on basic cable with no captions…So hold on we are in for a bumpy ride..

We rehash the Ines, Saintly & Ma debacle. Realizing that Ines is too enamored with Vasco, Saintly & Ma have arranged for Ines to jump the broom with Ascancio. Never, Never if she can’t have Vasco she doesn’t want anyone.
Give this girl a pink notebook, a pink feather sparkle pen & we’d have Vasco & Ines 4ever.

Anyhow, Saintly runs into ever drunk Vasco and threatens to smack the crap out of him, if he encourages Ines. Dude talk about closing the barn door after the cows got out.

The editing leaves much to be desired..we now see Ines flee to Vasco. He is home and asleep. The servant gets him and he comes down to see her. Geez Ines; I certainly hope this doesn’t affect his staying up all night whoring and puking.

Ines tells him about Saintly and he says okay…play it cool, pretend that you are going to marry Ascancio & meanwhile, I’ll write when I get work. Okay I added the last part, cause we all know Vasco isn’t going to work. Anyway Ines is horrified that Vasco isn’t ready to jump the broom.
Oh little girl…

Don Justo goes to see Sofia about the Cami/Gonzalos debacle. I’m sorry but could this guy be a bigger wuss? What is the problem in this town, why to all the men above the age of thirty suffer from a serious testosterone shortage? Just slap some lipstick and a fake mole on him and he can sit around with Fortuna chowing on bon bons. He fills Sofie in on the Cami/Gonzalos prenuptials.

Meanwhile in the den of sordid secrets..Whorehey & LaFont of the seven-inch widow’s peak hair, converse over the next caravan they plan to waylay. Sofia interrupts the conversation with a “Que the Hell, is up with you trying to marry off Cami to Gonzalos?” She proceeds to tell Jorge that Cami & Ric gotta a thing goin on. He is appalled, Ric could be a bad man.
Jorge…here is a shout-out from the audience, yeah a bad man in the best way, we are counting on it.

Sofie counters, well he was good enough for Ursula.
Jorge retorts, hah he dumped Ursula cause he had a girlfriend and now he is after Cami. Hmmmm Jorge thinks Ric is up to no good.

Mario moves his belongings into Cami house of unrelated ner do wells. Jimena is giving him the flirty look.

Jorge says that if Ric stands in his way, well death is a solution. Egads the heart or other organ wants what the heart or other organ wants. If only his heart would fail like his other organ. Now I am not sure he said Ric would die, but what the hell? Somebody is gonna die.

Sofia tells Justo that Gonzalos is as depraved as Jorge. Now normally this would enrage a father and he would send his daughter into hiding or a nunnery. However, I am sure Justo will simply keep a better eye on his goat flock.

Ofelia stops by with the poor motherless child Paco of the Mullethead to visit Cami, she is a bit nervous to see Mario there.

Justo comes by to tell Cami it is a no go with Jorge.
I’m sorry, but don’t widows pretty much get to do what they want? Think Scarlett. I mean seriously once you’ve been wed and the old virgin urgin thing is done.

Cami like all good TeleNovela heroines goes to the church and pray, where she lays out all the bad things that have happened to her.

Ric is on the ship and spots Gonzalos the Depraved chowing down. I guess that seasickness passed. Anyway Ric tries to make conversation with him, but Gonzalos blows him off. Ric has a pissed pirate look on his face.

Finally it is night and Jesus; no not that Jesus comes to see Mario. The gang is about an hour away.

Ofelia tells Saintly that Cami and Ric are an item. Saintly is enraged (well not enraged like normal people are, but he is a bit miffed for Saintly), how can this be? Ric could be a bandito for all they know. Yeah he is a regular Clyde Barrow and Bonnie is faking her blindness and they are traveling with Tia Barker.

Now Ines, the unchaste comes in and says she saw Vasco. He doesn’t want to marry.
At this point my picture frozen and I had zombie Saintly staring frozen on the screen.
Please I beg Saintly, I am sorry I have mocked you through two entire TeleNovelas, breathe. Alas my cries of anguish are in vain.

Okay…I missed some stuff.
When I turn on basic no captions cable…
Mario is with the pirates, he puts a pistol to Lazarus’s? head. I think this was the guy who was supposed to free Claudio, Angel, Cami & Jimena, but pocketed the dinero instead.

Next we see Ric and others departing the ship on Isle de Somewhere. He gives a boy money to follow Gonzalos the Depraved.

The sea journey has done Ric no harm, he is sporting a fine tan and the fresh sea air has brought the curl out in his hair. He is not disguised. I guess he figures no one will recognize him with out his trademark pirate doo-rag.

Justo the spineless and Sofia are visiting Ofelia’s family. Sofia is still trying to find out if WhoreHey is the father of Saintly. I for one certainly hope so. Vasco has done Ursula, the half sister of Saintly and Ines the other half sister of Saintly. Now the way Sofia was talking ol’ Whorehey had a boatload of bastard daughters. With any luck, Vasco could nail another one and he’d have a trifecta. Well country rube relative of Ofelia, gives up the 411, yes indeed, Ofelia was accosted by a rich important man before she was wed, but never gave up the name.

Ric goes to see his padrino, he is a religious guy. Actually it is Eric Castillo, I don’t know what his name is in this. Ric tells him the story of how his Tio & Tia framed him for the murder of the whore. Padrino looks weary and tired of life. Dude perk up, it is your job. He gets up and walks around. That is an awful wig and he is wearing like a religious fat suit. That is yards upon yards of billowing cloth. Somewhere in the TeleVista cafeteria a table (a very large table) is missing its cloth.

Now Ric is checking into a hotel.
Bad editing…he is bursting into a squalid room with dirty people and a fat guy with bad teeth. He accuses the fat guy of murder. Fat guy denies it. Ric pulls out a sword and goes all Guantanamo Bay on his ass. Yep a sword to the throat and people will confess to anything. I’m glad he confessed cause it would have taken Ric sometime to set the waterboarding up.
The soldiers come in and arrest fat guy. Ric gives the poor slaves money and just in case you were wondering, yes that is where Abe Lincoln got the idea.

Meanwhile Gonzalos has gone to the Clinica de Dysfuncional Penes, alas the doctor is dead.

Now Gonzalos is having dining with some local. Not only the local but everyone in this establishment have the worst wigs I have ever seen. They aren’t even on straight. Gonzalos the Depraved is like digging in his mouth for food that has wedged up around his gum line. This guy is quite the catch. The local tells Gonzalos that he doesn’t know Lopez de Carvajal, but Lisabeth has a pirate cuz, named Ricardo de Salamanca.
Funny he should mention that cause Ricardo is back with priest guy. He does his best young boy act and tells him that he is now in love with yes, Cami. Priest guy, is thrilled for Ric yet apprehensive too about the problems that may ensue. You would just think Godfather Priest guy would just be happy that Ric is not eternally damned for killing a whore, he just slept with her which is easily forgiven with a few hail Mary’s and a couple of Our Father’s.

Also at some point Ric mentioned he has been on the lam for 15 years for a crime he did not commit. So I guess that makes him about 34 and a fine specimen of a man.

So anyway…Stay tuned
Tomorrow Cami is talking to Jorge on the street, about what? Beats me.
But Cami I do have some advice for you. Jorge is shorter that you and staring right at you bountiful breasts. You may want to wear a shawl when he is lurking.

Thanks for reading my recaps..
I think this is my last one for Pasion
as next week I get to start mocking Cesar Evera, he has a kid that was dumped off at the Church and an Amante..No Puede Ser..

Juan Q 1-15-08 - Pau on a mission, Pastor accused of an omission, and CL out of commission?

Fer is telling Moni the news...Busted!! It's Pastor's brother and he sealed the deal with Akito before he died and the girls knew nothing about it. Moni tells him to find out all he can.

Here's your public service announcement. Pastor And CL chat about the prostate exam. Pastor tells him you should do them every year, if you are over 40-he does. He tells him it's like anything else. He advises him to relax about it and your worries will go away. Cl is now afraid that he's going to tell him that he likes this exam!! Pastor says look, if you take the test you haven't lost your manhood but if you don't take it you could..... bien dicho Pastor.

Pastor wants to tell Ivy something out of earshot of Mar. He makes fun of Mr Macho to Ivy that he's so scared of a prostate exam. Ivy worries what if they find something and Pstor thinks she should be so lucky because that would get her off the hook with him.

Pau and Kike are still chatting, Juan isn't moved by her anymore so she should just leave him alone. Is she prepared to leave everything for him? She hesitates and looks unsure and Kike believes he's proved his point and that Juan's now starting to recover. Pau says in that case you do know where he is. Kike says he doesn't know, but Pau says please if you see or hear from him tell him to call me at my mother's house where I now live because I need to speak to him. She promises she won't hurt him.

Ivy fishes with Cl about the appointment and he plays dumb. He tells her to go and she's pleased that he won't need her tonight either.

Moni just then comes in and tells Cl who's behind the deal with the Anthuriums.

Kike calls Fer and tells him about Pau's visit and Fer tells him how they used Anga as the cover and Kike agrees to support that story. Fer thinks this isn't good news, because he sees Juan content now and without troubles so maybe they should just stay quiet, but Kike thinks Juan has the right to know.

Pau is on the phone to Mar buggin' her to know where he is and she swears she doesn't know. She tells Pau to forget Juan and get him out of her life. After she hangs up she says like she did.

Moni is having doubts of Pastor's loyalty and Cl defends him. She thinks this was industrial espionage and that Pastor set them up.

Pastor yells at Ivy for mentioning the urologist to CL because now he's going to be in trouble for being chismoso. She says she couldn't help it. Of course just then CL calls and wants to see him immediately so he uses that to shame Ivy and takes off.

Fer and Juan are chatting. Fer tells him Pau is looking for him Juan says he's got nothing to say to her Fer continues babbling while Juan wonders why she would try to contact him just when he's learn to life with her absense.

Moni and CL give Pastor the 3rd degree and want to know why he would open his mouth about something so delicate. He apologizes and admits it was him. They go on and on about how could he and Moni was so sure he was the traitor and Cl is impactado and can't believe he could be such a traitor and careless etc. Pastor apologizes and offers excuses for several minutes. Finally he says that woman just wrenches things out of him and so he told her about the urologist and the prostate exam appointment. Moni and Cl turn to stare blamkly at each other. She that he actually made an appointment and he that Pastor was talking about that.

Moni now turns her questioning to CL about the test. He diverts the attention back to PAstor, that he did something worse than the indiscretion he thought he did and he's really in hot water now.

Moni rehashes about the deal falling apart but Pastor swears he has no idea what they are talking about. They double team him and tell him surely he spilled info to his brother and why didn't he tell them about him being the competitor. Pastor whines that he did nothing of the sort, please he swears he knew nothing about any of it.

Back in Achi Delfi looks for Anga and wonders where he went.

Juan sees Anga in the plaza who tells him he's leaving for good, because that woman never really cared for him. He wonders about the business. Anga says he can't be in business with Aldemar and tells Juan he has until tomorrow to figure it out because Aldemar goes or Anga goes.

Moni and CL are still talking about the prostate exam. She wonders why he's going for that and he tells her that the doc found abnormal blood results etc. Moni eventually figures out that he's scared about the whole endeavor. She offers that she'll go with him if he wants and he thanks her for this offer.

Pastor cries to Ivy that he had nothing to do with all this. She's trying to make him feel better that he's not guilty until they prove it and no one has proven anything. Pastor still maintains he's doomed and rushes off. To add insult to injury, Delirio is coming in with the other pirateers and spots him and greets him before the elevator about the computer programs. He goes on and on but Pastor eventually stops listening and goes into the elevator.

Light bulbs are going off for Pau at home. She talks to her mom. She wonders if maybe Juan's in the place where he came from, his birthtown.

CL calls Pau to invite her for dinner, she gladly agrees and thanks him for the thought. Ana sarcastically says, "and she was thinking about Juan." Pau says it's only part of my therapy and nothing else. Mmm not convinced, don't think Ana is either...

Juan has a long conversation with himself about whether he should call Pau. He goes back and forth. He thanks the bell saving him because Susana shows up just as he decides he'll call. This must be the Santo Nino's sign.

Pastor goes to the market to look for his brother. He begs Kike to tell him where he is, but Kike swears he doesn't know. Kike wants to know what the problem is and Pastor cries he's gotten me into a mess and he's the only one that can get me out.

Susana distracts Juan and asks him to take her on an excursion to the countryside today. He hesitates at first but then agrees she's right that they should take advantage of the beautiful day.
Molo and Herli are running the business accepting furniture etc. and seeming to get along well. Herli seems to be warming a little to him. He tells her flattering things.

In nature Sus and Juan are bonding. He tells how he liked to come there when he was little. He tells her a story about his grandmother yelling at him for throwing rana in the sopa (frogs in the soup). He said a woman he would bring there has to be very special and she confirms that he considers her that. He leans in to kiss but can't. She thinks all this happy bubbly attitude is a front for a great sadness and wants to know what he's hiding.

Pau back on the phone with Mar wants to know the name of the village and Mar tells her that's a crazy idea that he went back there.

Sus gets it out of him supposing that it's a love pain. He tells her she's right and that it's over Pau and gives her the details. She realizes that's why he left Farell. He tells her a little more and that the dream turned into a nightmare and he tells her about him being a third wheel and CL and Pau getting married. He stops himself and wonders what she'll think about him going on like this. She says she thinks he's a real man and that he knows how to really feel love and cry about it. Back in the town he asks what she thought of the river and she loved it. She says she wasn't bored and the excursion was worth it to get to know him a little better. She kissed him on the cheek and thanks him for taking her. He says he has to pick up Juanito.

Cl has prepared a nice dinner for he and Pau. he tells her he's worried about tomorrow's test. She tells him that she hopes it's nothing and not to worry because she'll go with him.

Just then Moni calls and wants to know if she's interrupting and he says no worries he and Pau just finished dinner. Moni smirks and wants to know about tomorrow. He says oh don't worry, Pau is going with me. Moni hangs up and goes ballistic! She screams and throws the phone and scares Laura half to death. Laura counsels her to chill out, and like it or not Pau is the wife now, not the lover and essentially she's going to have to accept that.

Cl and Pau argue about Moni's interference but he promises she's harmless and they shouldn't talk about her anymore and instead enjoy the dinner.

Delirio and Nid are at dinner and he is pouring it on thick about how much they love each other and lust after each other. Nid is buying it.

Pau is telling Ana that she's not coming home again. Ana tells her she doesn't need to tell her things like that, she's no longer 12 and they bicker again because Ana is mad at Pau's flipflopping of course and CL's magic way of clouding her judgment.

Aliro in bed is "reminding" Nid of their romantic exploits. He's embellishing, just a little. He's back to his famous screaming again and of course the peanut gallery is outside speculating about the activity again. Nid wonders what is wrong with him, if she should call a doctor, but he says nothing wrong he's fully enjoying the moment and she tells him to stop screaming or the neighbors are going to complain.

The next day Pau and Cl are at the docs and he's getting his exam. They show the doc putting on the glove.

The next day at breakfast Alirio lays it on thick again and starts telling Nid that she should get him things, basically pupeteering her. Referencing the evening's events, Yadi wonders if anyone heard the cat fight last night. Marely says it sounded to her like they were being tortured, not just in a fight!!

The phone rings. Yadi yells at Perafan for taking advantage of her Mom. Yadi spils the beans that Nid is really annoyed by ALirio. Nid asks him if that's true.

Ivy is on the phone to her buddy at the urologists office. Her buddy violates any possible confidentiality convention and tells Ivy that her boss has nothing to worry aobut he's fine. Ya caigo la bomba, Ivy begs her friend to do her a huge favor. Of course we are introduced to this chick for a reason!! Next we see the doc telling CL he's sorry, the result are very clear, and he's got cancer! Dum dum dum dummmm!!!

Juan Q. Monday, Jan 14, Where Your recapper doesn’t have a smart title for you

It is complete now, again thank you for your patience
I’m cutting and pasting the end of Friday’s show from Jeanne’s recap. She is better at recapping than me and like my grandma used to say “Para que le buscas 3 pies al gato sabiendo que tiene 4” (Lit. Why are you looking for 3 paws on the kitty if you already know it has 4? In other words, why should I complicate my life?)

Enjoy

CL waits in bed for Paula, shiny royal blue jammies and all. Paula, on the other hand, looks much better in his shirt than she does in any of her own clothes. It covers way more, too. He tells her to excuse him, but she’s absolutely divine. She thinks she’d look better in her jammies. CL doesn’t care; she looks best in his bedroom. She gets into bed with him, uncomfortable, and he turns to talk…about her not getting the wrong idea. He didn’t ask her to stay to…..um…..she understands. “Until tomorrow” they tell each other awkwardly. He turns back to her yet again; could he give her a little good night kiss? Sure, one. Would she let him give her another? Yeah. She laughs. He comes back and she smiles at his game—would you let me give me the final one? The last one and that’s it. Ya. She chuckles, doesn’t tell him yes, but doesn’t push away, either. He kisses her again and it’s apparently not really the last one. He goes at her neck and we are left to try and figure out what her facial expression says—discomfort? Lust? Thinking of Juan? They get on in earnest and Paula looks like she might go with the program, stroking his back with her long fingers and recently-done nails.

And we begin

Nidia is still very confused; she can’t believe everything that Marely has told her. She is crying and can’t believe she married Delirio. While looking thru the pictures she sees a picture of Juan. She wants to know who the “bombom” (marshmallow) is; Marely explains who he is and how he lived with them for a while. In another room Yadi is talking to Kike. She is worried for her mom, Kike says they have to wait and stay united. He also wonders what happened to Delirio. Yadi is furious because Delirio hasn’t come back. Kike changes the converstaion and asks Yadi maybe they should move, live in their own hose. Impactada face from Yadi

In the Party Heriberto is trying to talk to Susana. He is very drunk and Susana can’t stand him. Juan comes and tells him to stop bothering her; maybe he should go and get some coffee. Susana says she wants some. He goes. Susana thanks Juan for rescuing her. She wants to dance with him.

Nidia and Marely are still walking the memory line. They see pictures of Kike and Yadira’s wedding. Marely tells her that yes they are married and now they have a beautiful girl. Nidia is surprised, but is happy; she knows Kike is a good guy, however she is not to happy on being an “abuela”

In the party the Tweedless (Thanks Jeanne again for the name) are talking. Heriberto is laughing at Casimiro because Juan is dancing with Susana. Casimiro swears that tonight that little fly will fall in his flycatcher.

After the deed is done, Paula and CL are talking. He is trying to convince her to come back. She is not sure ;( so… what’s new) she still has to clarify some more things before coming back. He wants to know what the problem is. She is not telling.

Juan asks Dona Delfina about her conversation with Aldemar. She is surprised that Juan found out about it. She says they were just talking. Juan doesn’t believe it he says that as long as it was just talk is fine, but she needs to remember that she has been spoken for and he doesn’t want her to “hacerle de chivo los tamales” deceive Don Angarita. Delfina feigns being offended. Juan walks away.

Anga approaches Delfina and wants to know why Juan is talking to her so much. She says they were just talking about the business. She wants to go home. Anga offers to accompany her. They leave together.

Juan and his son talk about Juanito’s crush on his teacher. Juanito wants his teacher to become his girlfriend. Juan is trying to explain to him that usually your first love is an innocent love something that you can see but shouldn’t touch. A platonic love, Juanito wants to know what “platonic” means. Juan says that is when you feel like you have been hit over the head with a plate “plato” (hence “platonico”) and because of the hit you become “todo turulato” all dim witted, like you already are (Ed. Note this was just too sweet, I love the way Juan tries to explain things to his son) Juanito is very tired. Juan takes him home.

Anga and Delfina have arrived at Delfina’s house, he wants to stay, but she doesn’t let him.

At the party Molo and Susana are looking for Juan. Casimiro approaches and wants to invite Susana to a walk. She says she is very tired and she would rather go to her hotel room. He misunderstands and thinks she is inviting him to the hotel; he pulls her and tells her he doesn’t mind skipping the walk. Susana doesn’t know how to get rid of him, but as they are leaving Molo trips Casimiro and he falls on the other side of the fence and doesn’t get up. Susana thanks him (Molondon) and since the priest is leaving she hitches a ride with him.

Aldemar comes to Delfina’s house. She receives him wearing a short red silk robe and tells him that she thought he wasn’t coming (Ed Note. I don’t understand Delfina, I thought she really liked Angarita, I know he can’t do the deed right now, but please lady, give him a chance to recover. I can tell she doesn’t know him well, Angarita is not somebody that can be messed with). Anyway, Aldemar approaches her and tells her he wants to skip the marriage and start with the honey moon, she coyly says no, well maybe, what is he thinking? Aldemar keeps on walking towards her and she keeps on backing up until they end up on the couch. Juan enters the room. She changes immediately, she starts yelling telling Aldemar to leave her alone, and how he dares to try to abuse a poor widow. Juan tells Juanito to go to his room. Aldemar tells Juan that Delfina and him were “Jacarandosos” because they were about to celebrate their engagement. At this Angarita shows up at the door and yells “over my dead body” (At this rate, I think this will be a reality).

Molo is walking Herlinda home, he is finally telling her how happy he is, how special this night was, because he danced with her, he was able to sign to her and now he is walking with her. Herlinda tells him that for her it was the opposite. This night was the worst of her life. Juan was dancing and talking to Susana all the time. Molondon tells her that she should forget about Juan. He tells her he wishes he could give Juan his eyes so that he could se her (Herlinda) the way he (Molondon) sees her. Herlinda thanks him, for her and for Juan. Molo tells her he doesn’t do it for Juan, he does it for her. He finally tells her that he loves her. Herlinda wants to know why he hasn’t say anything. He says because he has been affraid of her rejection.

At Delfina’s, Juan is trying to calm Aldemar and Angarita. They are looking at each other like fighting dogs. They are showing their teeth and growling (not really, but I’m telling you that is what they reminded me of) Juan tells them to calm down, they are civilized people and they can talk things out (Yes Juanito, like when you “talked” to CL in the garage, when you found out that he was marrying Paula) They are yelling insults at each other. –That woman has been spoken for. –Yeah? Show me the marriage certificate. –We have a verbal agreement. –So do we, isn’t so Delfinita? Delfina says that she is confused.
Juan tells them that since the Lady is confused they should wait until tomorrow to resolve this matter. Angarita stands up says good night to Delfina and leaves. Aldemar tries to talk to Delfina, but Juan doesn’t let him, he finally leaves. When they both leave Juan scolds Doña Delfina –See what you have provoked? She is unrepentant.

Outside of Delfina’s house Angarita and Aldemar are still fighting. Angarita says that they’ll see tomorrow who the chosen one will be. Aldemar would prefer to solve this right now, he wants to play cards the one that wins, wins her. Algarita refuses. Aldemar then proposes to fight for her, they’ll have a duel tomorrow, and the one that stays alive will win. Algarita accepts.

The next morning Aldemar gets ready for the duel. He wakes his son so that he can be his witness. Don Angarita is getting ready too; he goes to buy a riffle. Herlinda runs to Delfina’s house to let her know of the duel.

Paula wakes up and can’t find CL. She panics and runs out of bed. He is preparing breakfast.

Angarita and Aldemar have their little duel. Juan and Moro prepare the arms. They (Anga and Alde) walk turn and fire. Both of them hit the floor. Delfina runs to Algarita calling him “mi amor” Juan laughs and tells them to get up, he changed the ammunition. It was fake. When Aldemar sees Delfina with Angarita, he understands and tells them that he (Aldemar) is a gracious loser, he won’t bother Delfina again. He wakes up his worthless son and they leave. Juan says he has to take Juanito to school. He also leaves. When Angarita and Delfina are finally alone, he tells her that their relationship is over. She doesn’t understand why. He tells her that he won’t forgive her for accepting somebody else’s attentions.

Nidia talks to everybody at breakfast she apologizes for her behavior. She tells them that she is starting to remember a little bit, and promises that she’ll see a doctor and will take her medication.

Juan is taking Juanito to school. He is telling him about what happened with Dona Delfina. Juan hears somebody calling his name. It’s Fernando, they are very happy to see each other.

Delirio, Gutis and the software guy are talking in Delirio’s office. Nidia walks in and says hi to everybody. She asks to talk to her husband. Delirio can’t believe his ears. Nidia wants to apologize.

Fernando explains to Juan the reason for his visit, how Farrell sent him to investigate. Juan doesn’t know what to do. They decide to talk to Susana.

Delirio is very happy, he wants to know how much does she remember? She tells him that just yesterday she remembered about Samuel’s death. She says that she must have fallen very hard for him since she married so soon. He of course gives her his version of their relationship.

CL receives a phone call from the Dr.’s office. I guess it is important that we know that the name of the Dr.'s Secretary is Erika and that she is Yvonne’s friend. I don’t see the reason, but if they took the time to introduce her to us, it must be important (or not).

Nidia doesn’t remember anything of the relationship with Delirio, but since it sounds so good, she decides to give it a try. She wants Delirio to come back home.

Fernando, Susana and Juan are talking about the problem they have with Farrell. What will Fernando do? He is between a rock and a hard place. Susana has the solution. Fernando is to report that the majority partner in the company is Angarita, thus leaving Juan’s name out the report. They all agree this is a great idea.

Kike arrives to work and remolacha tells him he has visitors. It is Paula, she wants to know where Juan is, she says she won’t leave until Kike tells her where to find him impactadisimo face from Kike.

Fernando calls the company; he swaps sweet nothings with Marely while Yvonne listens. Finally he asks to talk to Monica. Monica wants to know the news. His report is condensed and to the point 1. Yamamoto is dead there was no foul play he died of a heart attack. 2. The business that Susana and Miss Yamamoto picked as new partners is legal and is run by Don Algarita. 3. Don Algarita is a rich fruits and vegetables national exporter and he happens to be Mr. Pastor’s brother. Big que the heck face from Monica

The end.

Thank you for your patience.

Pasión, 01/14/08: Indecent Proposals

Well, Whorehey is truly aggravated by Ric’s taking on airs at the party, and since he realizes Ric’s interest in Cami, he orders papa Justo to come in for a chat to make him an offer Justo cannot refuse. Justo arrives and nervously asks what he wanted. He says he understood that Justo was trying to find a new hubby (with social standing of course) for Cami, and being very fond of her he has seen to it himself and found one for her. As Justo and the rest of us hold our breath in bate, and Alberto La-Bouffant looks menacingly on, we get the answer to his question, “Who?”

Don Whorehey munificently asks for Cami’s hand in marriage on behalf of (who else but one of his perverse piggish drinking buds lacking in appropriate couth) no other than the shoe-guzzling Gonzalo. “He is an appropriate age, owns a hacienda, comes from a notable family, and (his best qualification yet) he is a friend of mine. He’s on a trip now but we spoke and he asked me to make the request as Regional Governor.”

Mario, Claudio and Jimena clown around on Camila’s patio together. Actually, Jimena and Mario are flirting with each other and Claudio starts to feel like a fifth wheel.

Justo leaves. Whorehey tells LaBouffant (enjoying another Mephistophelian moment) that he’s got no intention of handing Cami over to Gonzo. He just entered into this to gain time till Gonzalo returns from La Mariana with the ED letter from the doctor. Then he’ll come to some “arrangement” with her. Alberto asks what his problem is that he’s got to get so involved over some female. Don Whorehey says it’s not just a woman. He refuses to let some new upstart interfere with his supreme rule or to stomp on his manhood by messing with his women.

Cami, on her way back home, runs into Saintly. They discuss niceties about GRita’s expecting and about Justo looking for a husband for her. (You just know, somehow, this topic must be killing him, and secretly he’s gallantly fighting back the urge to drop trow and go for it if she’d only say yes.) They talk about Ascanio coming to work for him and possibly marrying Ines to avoid a mistake with Vasco. Lis comes up as a topic too and they agree she’s not such a bad sort cuz she has every right to object to what her father did to her. Cami says she’d love to give her back everything, but not at the cost of her freedom.

Back at Cami’s, Justo’s talking to Jimena about Don Jorge’s and his discussion. Jime laughs and pretty much tells him to forget the cigars and rum since there’s no way Cami will ever accept Gonzo’s offer. Cami has got somebody else in mind now. Justo asks who and when she says it’s Ric he sputters in frustration because he cannot understand it: two days ago she was totally against the idea.

Jime says well, she changed her mind. Justo tells her that he’s now in a bind because he already agreed to it. Jime doesn’t see the problem. He simply can go back and tell him she’s spoken for. Justo explains it isn’t that easy with a Regional Governor doing the asking. If Don Ricardo had come to him first as he should have, he would have done just that. Now he’s up a creek without his paddle.

Ines tells Lis on their way back from town how Saintly was going to marry Cami, and when he found out she had vanished he married GRita instead. Ines mentions that Ric is interested in Cami. Lis is very negatively impactada and makes a face at the news.

Back at her house Ines tells Ofelia about the incident and tells her it was obvious that Lis didn’t like the idea of Ric getting involved with Cami. GRita takes the opportunity to accuse Cami of trying to steal away Santiago as soon as she returned to town. Ofelia defends Cami and Santi due to their special circumstance and tells GRita it’s her constant haranguing of her husband that has changed his attitude towards her, rather than her sister’s return. GRita stomps off complaining that Ofelia would have rather had Cami as a daughter-in-law instead (and we’re all thinking in unison, “You’re right and who could blame her?”)

That night Lis hysterically cries to her aunt about Ric’s possibly marrying Camila. She whines (and her whining is getting to be as aggravating as GRita’s griping) that she cannot allow Ric to marry another woman, least of all that woman! Perhaps if Cami realizes he is a pirate she’ll refuse him. Or, Lis figures, she can denounce him over the false name and papers he’s got. Fran likes that idea, but Lis backs off it and says she couldn’t do that to him really.

When Cami gets back Justo complains to her about not telling him that she had decided to marry Ric after all because a father is supposed to at least know what his daughter wants before he enters into a discussion like this. Otherwise he would not have agreed and given his word about marrying Gonzo. Cami tells Justo he’s one of the gang that came for her that night before her wedding, and she’d die first rather than marry him.

Jimena takes off for the inn to speak to Mario about Whorehey’s request to marry Cami to Gonzo the Gross. He tells her Ric will know what to do when he returns from La Mariana. In the meantime she should stay in her house and not go out in town.

Justo goes to speak with Ofelia about Gonzo’s proposal and how he botched it all because he didn’t know about Cami’s decision to accept Ric’s offer. Ofelia asks couldn’t he have put him off for a while til Ric got back, invented something, lied about it? He agrees he froze up and acted like a fool. She says to speak to Sofia and see what she can do for him. He figures that will be a waste of time since once her husband gets something into his aristocratic head nothing shakes him off it.

Ines is babysitting at Vasco’s while this is going on. Vasco comes stumbling home drunk and vomits. She comes to help him into bed. He gets the urge and begins kissing her. (Ugh!) Naïve Ines thinks this is his way of showing her that he really loves her and so Vasco and she do the deed. Afterward they hear Justo going into his bedroom. Vasco sends her home and tells her not to say anything to anybody. She smiles and tells him she figures he’ll at least tell her brother since he’ll be asking him to marry her. He realizes she didn’t understand what had just happened and lies. He tells her not to hurry things like that but that he’ll take care of it eventually and pushes her out the door. Immediately he regrets it and wonders what in the world he’s just done. (Probably knocked up his best friend’s little sister. What a guy!)

The following day Vasco barely greets Ines when she comes for Paco. Saintly gives Mario the keys to the new locks they finished for Ric by working through the night.

At Cami’s that same morning, Jimena tells her that Mario suggested they tell people they’re away on vacation but instead they could perhaps stay at Ric’s place, at least till he returns. Cami says not a good idea, especially when Ric doesn’t even know yet that she’s decided to accept his proposal. Jime says well, he would the minute he came back and saw them there! Cami says she’ll stay home and if Whorehey comes to force the issue she’ll tell him she refuses and tell the truth about why.

When Mario comes by a bit later, Jimena tells him Cami’s decision. He says it shouldn’t matter: he’ll be moving in to keep watch on them, just like he promised Ric that he would.

La Bouffant tells Manuela to visit Lis but not to bring up Ric. He wants her to become close friends with Lis and to forget about Ursula for good.

In the islands somewhere Foreman is reading a couple of letters. In spite of going against the rules of the brotherhood, he orders Hernan to go to La Mariana to look into whatever he can about El Antillano’s background, but if he tells anyone anything Foreman will cut his tongue out. (That’s my kind of pirate!)

Mario tells Cami his intention to move in to protect her while Ric is away. She thinks it’s going overboard since she has Ascanio and Claudio there, but he says he’s a pirate who’s only following his orders. She eventually gives in.

Mario gets his things, leaves word at the inn to have Jesus find him at the Widow Salamanca’s. Outside he runs into Fran and Lis who figure he’s moving into Ric’s and demand his services there immediately. He has no choice but to take them over there and see what they’ll need before he can get back over to Camila’s.

As luck would have it, Ric and Gonzo end up traveling on the same ship heading for La Mariana Island, despite Whorehey’s instructions to LaBouffant to have him travel separately and incognito so that Ric wouldn’t know Gonzo was in La Mariana and raise suspicions. Gonzo is barfing over the side, upping more than a few chucks, when Ric walks up and recognizes him. He says he’s surprised seeing Gonzo on the same boat with him. Gonzo lies about having to attend to family business there and stumbles off. Ric looks at him and seems to start thinking about it being a bit of a coincidence.

On the way to Ric’s, Lis and Fran start pumping Mario for information. They want to know why Ric hasn’t been by to see them more and if it’s because he’s been spending so much time with Cami. They say they’ve heard he’s constantly over there to see her. Mario says he’s hardly paid much attention and people will always gossip about something. They ask him if he knows her and he lies and says not really, just by sight, that he has no dealings with her at all.

At the mill Vasco is guzzling down a bottle of wine for breakfast. He tells Bernabe that he slept with Ines. They agree that if Santiago finds out he’ll kill Vasco. Bernabe says the best thing is to marry her. After all, she’s decent and takes care of his son as if he were her own. Vasco says he only loves her like a sister and the woman he really is interested in is Whoresula (This from a guy who is ready to extort his actual sister. No, it does not look good for the innocent, but no longer chaste, Ines.) Bernabe says that he sure didn’t think of her that way when he slept with her.

Santi runs into GRita on her way to work at the mill. They argue again, about the kid they’re expecting and--what else--Cami, “Bet you’d rather I’d die so you could get back with her, right?” GRita struts away and Santi is ready to bang his head against the nearest wall in frustration.

Cami, meantime, tells Ascanio and Claudio about the proposals from both Ricardo and Gonzo (via Whorehey). Ascanio, from what he knows, has his doubts about Ric ever giving up “the life” he leads, while Claudio tells her that he thinks Ric is perfect for her.

Ines mentions to Ofelia that Lis makes too much about her blindness and seems to be insincere about a lot of things. Saintly arrives home and tells Ines about his interest in her marrying this great guy, then tells her it’s Ascanio. She is dumbfounded and tells him that if she doesn’t marry Vasco she won’t get married at all. He tells her that Vasco is a playboy and a drunk who cheated on his wife and will do the same to her or anyone else. Ines rushes out.

Saintly finds Vasco nearby and confronts him. Vasco thinks it’s because Ines let the cat out of the bag about the night before, but he realizes Santi’s angry that his sister can’t see what a bum he is. Santi wants Vasco to set his sister straight and admit he has no intention of ever marrying her and to do it today!

Santi races off in a huff then and Bernabe warns Vasco that once Santiago finds out he slept with his sister they’ll hogtie him and drag him up to the altar.

The Duke de Salvatierre has written in repsonse to Sofia's invitation that he'll be there in a week to meet them all. Justo visits Sofia and tells him about his predicament. Sofia is suspicious and asks if he knows just exactly when Gonzalo supposedly talked to her husband about this proposal.

Meanwhile Ursula is having temper tantrums upstairs. She's tearing up the letters and pictures from all the possible suitors. When Fortunata mentions the Duke of Salvatierra is interested and even has a title she could sport, Ursula is obviously not in the mood. She screams at Fortunata that she could give a rat's behind about the duke or his title, let alone any of the others in the pile. Fortunata wonders if she’s not just still sensitive about Ric's rejection. Ursula says she's not sensitive, she's furious, particularly because Ric ignored her during the whole party and never showed up to talk with her even though he'd promised her.

On the other side of the pueblo, Ines races over to tell Vasco about her having to marry Ascanio. Vasco says Santi told him he couldn’t marry her now and he almost beat him up over it. He makes sure she hasn’t told him about their sleeping together. She says eventually he will marry her, right? He says sure, sure, but to take things slowly because of her brother.

Knowing he’s in between a rock and a hard place, Vasco suggests Ines goes ahead and formalize things with Ascanio for now. He says he’ll try to find a better time down the road to approach Santi. She refuses, shocked that he should suggest it. Vasco says to at least go along with the idea for now. Building on the drama, he adds that he has to wait because until her brother calms down the only thing that would come of it all is either he or her brother ending up dead

Amar Sin Limites January 14: In which Gaspar gets dizzy from all the dramatic revelations and we can sympathize

This is my last Amar recap folks! We are in the home stretch with the gran final on Friday. I will be moving to Thursday to start recapping Pasion next week. I must say that I enjoyed Amar very much right up until the tacked on extenda-ending after Mo went to jail. If they had ended it there, I think it would have been one of my favorites. It had a lot of good characters, even some that I didn’t like that grew on me, like GSD and Emilia. I like a little more intrigue in my novelas and although this one had the potential to be pretty violent, I don’t think the body count will be anywhere near Duelo de Pasiones. Lets face it, the main couple in most novelas are very annoying!

On with the show!

Ceci and Mario sitting in a tree K.I.S.S… well not exactly sitting in a tree. Sitting among some trees at a little table near a waterfall. Mario has the moves and he’s made an unforgettable destination-wedding proposal for our girl Ceci. Romantic Music plays over the scene. Maybe you latin pop music mavens can tell us what the song is.

Switch to a big family dinner at a restaurant with Diego and Silvana presiding over a dismal grouping of Gloria, Chucho, Caty, Anibal and Clemi… Silvana remarks cuttingly that Emilia, her ex-sister-in-law, her therapist and (who she thought was her friend) doesn’t seem to have been able to make it. Diego responds that she ought to know that Emilia can’t leave the house because she’s on bed rest due to her pregnancy, "but she told me that she wishes us the best.” Clemi adds that Lidia is on her honeymoon in Acapulco and that’s why she’s not there. Just then Manuel staggers in drunk and LOUD. He immediately picks up a glass full of wine from the table to make a toast. Diego gets up and apologizes to the entire restaurant and gets Manuel to sit down. Silvana launches into a discussion about how she and her Mom went shopping today for a wedding dress. Manuel butts in to say "HOW FUNNY! I read in the paper that you were at a maternity shop. I didn’t know that they sold wedding dresses in a maternity shop!” Clemi tries to get him to shut up, as if he were trying to point out the breach of decorum in Silvana being a pregnant bride. (Of course Silvana is not pregnant and Manuel knows it, so we can only hope that he will let that slip too…) Manuel complains that he didn’t mean anything by the comment but Silvana cuts in to say that maternity shops weren’t the only places they went. But anyway, they didn’t have anything she wanted. She turns silkily to Diego and demands that he design her wedding dress. Diego gets a sick look on his face. Perhaps he’s recalling his various wedding dress designs—the one he made for Azul for her wedding with Mo, that ended up getting torn up and recycled as a beach sundress after he kidnapped her. Then the one he made for her when they actually got married. Yep, the whole wedding dress design thing has Azul stamped all over it.

Back to Ceci and Mario. Mario tells her that Azucena and LF have gone horseback riding. Ceci says it sounds like fun and that they should do that too. Suddenly, Azucena and LF appear around a corner, laughing and kissing. Ceci is thundering drums impactada. She chokes out “Azucena!” She runs up to them both and starts shrieking hysterically. “You can’t be with her! You can’t be with her!” directed at LF. Azucena turns snippy. “Who are you to tell me want I can’t do? LF loves me, and I love him!” Ceci shakes her head in disbelief. “You can’t be with him, Azul!” LF repeats “AZUL?” Azul asks her if she knows her. Ceci who is now crying says “Of course I know you. I am Ceci, your best friend. Ceci goes to hug her and Azul steps back and tells her not to touch her. Azul tells her if she was ever her friend, to forget her. Ceci tells her she can’t. She’s got to come back. Azul says she doesn’t want to know anything about her past and she’s not going back. She runs away and LF runs after her. Mario is incredulous. He says that he thought Azul was dead. Ceci says that she doesn’t know how it happened but Azul, her best friend, her sister is ALIVE!

Back at the dinner, Silvana is prattling on about what kind of wedding dress she wants Diego to design. Something simple…that he would like. She doesn’t seem to have noticed that Diego is very unexcited by the prospect. Everybody is pretty morose looking at the table, even little Caty. Diego finally agrees to make the dress just to shut her up. She then says that they should arrange to get together TO TALK ABOUT THE DRESS SOME MORE and Diego cuts her off, saying that he prefers to work alone, and that she should trust in his good taste. Finally, Silvana gets the hint and quiets down. She switches topics to announce to the family that Madre Maria over at the Orphanage has gotten a priest for their wedding and, Diego adds, reserved the chapel there for the wedding. (Oooh, more bad taste on the part of Silvana, his wife’s funeral was there only 2 months ago, creepy). Clemi comments “How nice. It will be intimate and discreet.” Manuel decides to butt in again to announce how there is no way that the ceremony will be discreet, what with Diego being a famous designer and Silvana being a famous model and all. (He said some other stuff but his drunken slurring of words made it a little hard to understand and probably not all that worthwhile anyway). Diego raises his voice to insist that NOBODY FROM THE PRESS will be allowed in. He turns to Silvana to say “is that clear?!” Silvana tries to backpedal to try to get Bruno in but Diego is firm and refuses to budge on this point. Manuel who has been stealing wine from other people’s glasses barely gets out that he thinks it will be hard to keep the reporters away. Anibal says not if they don’t know the date. Gloria tries to help her daughter out by saying that the paparazzi follow her everywhere, how are they going to hide from them? Diego says that if everyone is discreet, they won’t have a problem. Silvana says lets do it soon then, in 15 days. Diego says no, the chapel will be ready the day after tomorrow. Clemi is surprised. Diego says that Madre Maria advised him to get married soon, due to the baby on board. Silvana says great, the sooner the better.

Back to tearful Ceci, still outside talking to Mario. She apologizes for losing it but …in any event, Azul is MARRIED TO DIEGO! Mario says LF has got to know that.

Meanwhile, Azul and LF are inside the house. They are both freaked out by this latest revelation but Azul is adamant that she will not talk to Ceci and she doesn’t want LF’s mom to know either. LF says OK, he’ll talk to Cecilia. LF’s mom comes out in her bathrobe, it looks like she just got out of the shower. She said she heard a commotion. Azul shakes her head. Mama is suspicious.

Mario tells LF that Ceci has something important to say to him. LF says he has something important to say too. LF starts out by asking why she called her “Azul.” Ceci shoots back that “that’s because that’s who she is. She’s the daughter of Dr. Alfredo Toscano.” LF cries that Dr. Toscano told him that his daughter DIED in an accident. DIED! Ceci says that’s what everybody thought. EXCEPT DIEGO. He thought she could still be alive because her body was never found. And it turned out HE WAS RIGHT. LF says he doesn’t believe it. Ceci shoots back that it’s the truth. Azul is her best friend, the mother of Caty and the WIFE of Diego. Ceci says she has to tell Azul everything. LF says no, she’s not going to tell AZUCENA anything. Mario looks grim. His plans for the evening are shot.

Mario tries to reason with LF. He says that he’s already explained to Ceci that Azucena has to learn the truth little by little. She can’t have it dumped on her—it could harm her and the baby. LF says that Azucena already knows about her past. She knows and she doesn’t want to go back. She wants to be with him, to start a family with THEIR baby. Ceci says WHAT? LF goes on a tirade saying that Diego lost his rights over Azul when he got jiggy with Silvana and put her in his house. Ceci tries to butt in that Diego is only marrying Silvana because she’s pregnant. LF says that it just shows how sad Diego was that he couldn’t even mourn his wife before he was making a baby with another woman. LF says that Azul is the injured party here. It’s pretty obvious that Diego didn’t care at all about her disappearance. Ceci says it’s a pack of lies and she asks if he knew this whole time who she was and hid it from everybody. Mario butts in to say that that’s not true. It was Azul who found out and didn’t tell him—she only said that she wanted to leave the past behind her. LF says that “It’s what she wants and I’m going to support her.” Ceci complains that he may be able to keep her away “But not her Family.” She leaves abruptly. Mario follows her in, promising LF, he’ll try to calm her down.

Back at Clemi and Anibal’s, Diego is with Clemi and Caty. Caty is babbling about how excited she is to be sleeping over at Grampa and Gramma’s in Aunt Lidia’s room. Diego is going to the workshop to work all night on a dress for Silvana. Clemi offers to go with him, to help. Diego says Chucho offered too but he doesn’t want any help. He wants to be alone. Clemi says she’s worried about him but Diego says that he’s thinking of his child. His child will give him a reason to live, to move forward.

Ceci is now pissed and she’s taking it out on Mario. She accuses him of taking his friend’s side. Mario says no, but he’s lived this whole history of LF and Azucena’s and all the trouble they’ve had. Ceci corrects him AZUL! Mario tries to calm her down some more, explaining that LF tried to find out who she was, took her to Doctors to try to help her recover her memory. Ceci interrupts to ask how, now that he knows, he can continue with this crazy state of affairs. Mario says that he loves her. He fought with his mom, with the MS, and even with him to keep her near him. Mario adds that they were together until…SILVANA…Ceci interrupts again. Now she sees what happened. Silvana knew. Mario says that Silvana met her at the orphanage and that she became friendly with Azucena and then later she disappeared with her. Ceci figures that Silvana took Azul away to keep her separated from Diego so she could have him. Mario starts to say…I don’t know…what happened …” "AZUL!” Ceci screams at him again. (Poor Mario. Monkey in the middle. I wonder how much money he spent on this romantic getaway. ) Mario quietly tells her that he doesn’t know what happened but when Azul and LF got back together, Azul only wanted to start her life with LF. Ceci is sure that Silvana spun a web of lies to Azul to make her think she wanted nothing to do with any of them. Mario remarks that “maybe all she told her was that she was marrying Diego. That might have been enough.” Ceci isn’t so sure. And anyway, “what she did is a crime.” Silvana saw that Diego was in pain for having lost Azul and “all along she knew that Azul was alive.” Mario counters that Diego can’t have been that upset since he took up with Silvana immediately. Ceci says that, “if anybody knows how much Diego loved Azul, it’s me.”

Over at the boutique workshop, Diego is working on designs for the wedding dress. Judging from the crumpled paper. It’s not going well. He looks at pictures. He crumples some more paper. He looks at a naked toro—I mean mannequin. He drapes some cloth on it. He remembers taking measurements of Azul and making the other dress. We get a reprise of “Vuelve.” He kisses a ghostly Azul wearing the wedding dress. He returns to the drawing table and punches the paper with his pen. I think Silvana is going to be wearing a bed sheet.

Back to Mario and Ceci. Mario has driven Ceci all the way back to the city. He drops her in front of a hotel. That was quick! He asks if she wants him to come with her. She says no. She wants to confront Silvana herself. Mario looks forlorn. We get a shot of Silvana in her hotel room trying on pillows in front of a mirror. There’s knock at the door. When Silvana goes to open it, Ceci rushes at her and slaps her hard in the face. “Stupid! [Imbecile] You knew that Azul was alive and you didn’t tell us.” Silvana replies that she did it to save Diego from pain. That she’s in love with someone else.” Ceci says, yes. she knows. Silvana is surprised to hear this. “YES SHOUTS CECI. I’ve seen my friend and SHE’S ALIVE.” She cries. Silvana is impactada. Ceci accuses her of telling Azul that she was helping her, when all she did was fill her head with lies. Silvana denies this and she says she did it so that Diego wouldn’t die of grief. Silvana further lies that Azul is pregnant with LF’s child and this would have hurt Diego. Ceci complains that all these lies were for Silvana’s benefit. Silvana agrees that that might be so, but she saw nothing wrong since Diego couldn’t have Azul back. Ceci exclaims that Silvana didn’t have the right to decide that. Silvana tries the LF argument again. “If you’ve seen them together, you’ve seen the love that exists between them.” Silvana feigns that she was on the point of telling Diego but she just couldn’t break his heart like that. She starts to make the case to Ceci to help her cover this up but Ceci will have none of it. She has not the smallest doubt she says that she should tell Diego. Silvana tries to guilt trip her that “she’ll leave 2 kids without a father.” Ceci is still having none of it. She says she already knows that Diego was going to help with her kid. Silvana decides to threaten Ceci instead. She says she won’t permit Ceci to separate her from Diego. Ceci calls her crazy and says that she’s not crazy like her. She’s going directly to tell Diego that his wife, the woman he really loves is alive. She turns around and runs out the door, slamming it. (And here I was wondering if we were going to get another murder.) Silvana turns around and looks all squirrelly. She starts talking to herself about how this is going to screw up her wedding with Diego. (Yah Think?)

Ceci is getting ferried all over town by the good sport Mario. She’s at Diego’s house and Chonita is at the door in her nightgown. No Sr. Diego isn’t here. Why doesn’t she try his cell phone? Ceci says she did but he’s turned it off. Chonita says that he’s probably not coming home tonight. He even left Caty with the grandparents. Ceci is beside herself. Where do I look she asks Mario who is more at sea than she is.

Diego is asleep on his desk. Someone comes in behind him in the boutique and rubs his back. It’s Silvana. He wakes up. She remarks that the dress is lovely…but she can’t marry him. Diego is surprised. Silvana says she needs to show him something.

Back in the village, LF takes Azucena back to her room, which is filled with candles, true romance style. He starts to leave but Azucena tells him that she still wants to sleep with him. He comes back into the room and they start to make out on the bed. All of the sudden, LF jumps up and says he can’t. Now that he knows. Azucena insists that it’s OK, that she is more decided than ever to leave the past behind her. And it’s even better now that he knows the truth because now there are no secrets between them either. When LF mentions the rest of her family, Azucena says bitterly that she’s going to pay them back for not looking for her by forgetting them. She knows that they are out there but she doesn’t want to see them. She starts crying. LF hugs her.

Now we see what Silvana has brought Diego. Azul’s diary. She gives it to him to read and stands behind him smiling and crying.

Ceci and Mario are still outside Diego’s house. Ceci is still wondering what to do. It’s almost dawn. She doesn’t know who to call because she wants to tell Diego first and she doesn’t want to wake anybody else with the surprising news. It could give someone a heart attack. Ceci says she’ll wait at Diego’s house.

At the Boutique, Diego has read enough. Silvana says “So now you know, Azul is alive and in love with someone else.” Diego can’t believe it at first. Then he goes through the elation of realizing that Azul is alive…that he was right. He demands to know where she is. Silvana says “with her lover.” She explains that this lover is none other than Dr. Luis Felipe Pena. Yes, that guy he knows from the orphanage. Diego staggers around the room. At first he says that Azul would be incapable of doing such a thing to him. Then he gets crazy and puts his hands around Silvana’s neck and screams at her to tell him where she is. Silvana throws the diary at him and tells him that it’s all in there. Diego throws the diary back at her.

It’s the next morning and Diego has arrived at the village where LF lives. He bursts into the house with Silvana in tow and asks LF’s mom where Azul is. She looks at him like he’s nuts. He explains that he knows her as Azucena and that she’s his wife. He says he needs to see her right away. LF’s mom says she’s not there, she went to the spring. She’ll get her. Diego won’t wait, he follows her out, leaving Silvana there, a little nervous. Diego sneaks up to where she is sitting. At first he is excited to see Azul alive but then LF enters the picture, putting his hands around her eyes in a gesture of tenderness and playfulness and Diego freaks. Just then, LF’s mom comes up and says let her go first and warn them. Meanwhile, more happychat between LF and Azulcena. I had a really hard time hearing this because they were standing right next to the waterfall. She expresses more resentment of her past and wants to forget it. LF assures her of a bright future with him. They kiss. Just then, mom runs up and tells LF to let her go. Her HUSBAND’s here. Azucena’s eyes get big and she says that she doesn’t want to see him. She runs off. Diego sees her and tries to run after her. LF gets in front of him to tell him that she doesn’t want to see him. Diego is crazed and starts to fight with LF, Mom and Silvana who has finally followed them up here, try to pry the two men apart.

It’s morning in the city too and Ceci and poor, longsuffering Mario have spent the night in his car in front of Diego’s house. They are still sleeping when Clemi and Anibal arrive with Caty. Ceci wakes up and sees him. She gets up and runs to them. Clemi says that she thought Diego would be home by now so that’s why she brought Caty. Ceci says no but she can’t spill the beans in front of Caty. Clemi tells Anibal to take Caty inside. As soon as he does, Ceci tells her that she needs to see Diego right away. She has to tell him that Azul is alive.

Back to the fight between Diego and LF, which is a full on knock down drag out brawl. The women are still trying to drag them apart. They get in eachothers’ faces, Diego screaming that LF stole a married woman from her husband. LF screams back that Diego didn’t deserve her if as soon as she disappeared he took up with another woman and got her pregnant. LF wants to know what Diego wants to do, have two pregnant wives at his house? (Good point, LF. This sure ain’t gonna be Big Love). More trash talk in front of the waterfall that’s hard to hear. Silvana clambers on the rocks in her high heels. Silvana yells at Diego that Azul is pregnant with LF’s baby. Diego is frozen in mid punch. Ceferino, the family friend or whatever runs up and tries to stop the fight too. He’s just come back from the house and says that Azucena is there and says she doesn’t want to see any Diego guy. LF has a look of triumph. “That’s the last word, from Azucena.” He marches off toward the house. Ceferino says something about leaving marriage forms in his car. Diego is completely stunned by all of this and sits down on the ground. Silvana nearby. He tells himself that Azul is expecting that guy’s baby and that she’s going to marry him! Back at the house Ceferino says he can see that things are a bit complicated and that they probably have a lot to talk about so he’d better go. LF starts to go into the house. Mama grabs him by the arm. She tells LF that he should have let Diego speak to her. He had a right to try to fix things with his wife. LF says that Azucena said she didn’t want to talk to him. She said so. He points out that there is no way that he came here to fix his relationship with Azucena, when he brought his lover who is pregnant with his child and with them about to get married tomorrow. Mama looks doubtful but has nothing to say to that.

Diego is back near the waterfall overturning furniture now, in a rage. He yells at Silvana for hiding the truth from him. Silvana says she did it for love and so that he wouldn’t be hurt. “WITH WHAT DAMN RIGHT?” he asks. Silvana says that she decided after she became pregnant and Azul was also pregnant, reverting to the “I did it for the children” argument. And she says she wanted to avoid THIS. After repeating the “by what right…” thing again, Diego responds that Azul will have to face him and tell him that she doesn’t love him anymore. Silvana repeats that LF just asked her to marry him and that she is carrying LF’s baby. (Remember that this is a lie, but I guess Silvana figures it’s the last one she’s got so she might as well use it).
We are suddenly swept back to the boutique where Gaspar is looking at Diego’s wedding dress designs. Julio comes in and asks Gaspar if he’s seen Diego. Ceci and the others are all looking for him desperately. Gaspar says no, and he remarks that Diego doesn’t seem to have gotten very far with the dress. After Julio leaves, Gaspar recalls the dress that Diego made for Azul and how beautiful it was. “What love creates!” he sighs. He does a turn around the room and spies the diary on the floor. He pages through it. He rushes out with it and shows it to Ceci, Clemi and Julio. Ceci figures out that Silvana must have stopped by and shown it to Diego. They have to find him!

Back at the waterfall, Silvana is begging Diego to leave this place with her and marry her tomorrow as planned. If he wants, they can divorce later. (I’m sorry, but isn’t that bigamy? He at least has to divorce Azul now that he knows that she’s alive. It would make divorcing Silvana unnecessary in any event since the marriage wouldn’t be legally or ecclesiastically valid.)

Inside the house, Azulcena is crying some more and LF is trying to comfort her some more. Mama proffers tea and tells her to calm down for her baby’s sake. LF tells her that he will do everything he can to keep Diego away from her. Azulcena repeats the lie that Silvana told her about Diego causing the accident that left her in this state and says what a jerk he is for bringing his lover with him to try to see her. LF says that Diego and Silvana deserve each other but her father is a good man, she should at least see him. Azulcena rejects this and brings up the newspaper article that showed that he travelled out of the country right after she went missing.

At the boutique, Julio and Gaspar are wondering what to do. Julio says he knows what HE’s going to do. Now that he’s seen the full horror of Silvana, he’s going to tell Diego the truth about her. In fact, he’s going to tell the whole world how she got to be the famous model she is. Gaspar wants to know, he’s dying to know the dark secret of Silvana. Julio says that she slept her way to the top. She slept with anybody who would help her, the head of the modeling agency, photographers, and reporters. Even Bruno! Gaspar shrieks that he can’t take so many revelations in one day and feigns a dizzy spell. Julio doesn’t buy it which makes Gaspar over-act even more.

Diego has arrive home, looking terrible from the fight and moving like Frankenstein's monster. Silvana tries to speak for him saying that he saw Azul and she’s happy where she is. Clemi tells her to shut up. Ceci tries to ask Diego what happened, if Azul recognized him. Diego tells her that Azul didn’t want to see him. Ceci says “she did the same thing to me.” Diego interrupts her and repeats what we’ve heard a million times now, that Azul is in love with LF, that she’s pregnant with his baby, blah blah. Clemi argues that Diego is her husband. “Officially,” says Diego, I am her widower. She was declared dead.” “Yes, says Clemi, but when you show that she’s alive…” Diego says that he will do no such thing. If Azul is happy as Azucena, he will not ask for his rights to claim her as his wife. Diego stares straight ahead. Silvana looks relieved. Everybody else is left open mouthed.
