Al Diablo Con Los Guapos #48, Wednesday 3-26: Dinner is served and Andrea plots revenge

I don't know what last night's cutoff was exactly, but Granny gives Alejandro the "fight for your luuuuurve" speech and Alejandro appears to have put his big boy pants on and is heading out of his room. He's on the move, people!

What's not on the move is Mili's hair, what with all the Aqua Net Lina's putting on it. We only see Mili from behind, so I have no idea what she looks like. She whine's that she's going to screw things up and that the family only sees her as a servant, but Lina tells her to suck it up and go represent for all the other servants. What with Mili's "you can take the girl off the soccer field…" track record, I'm not sure she's the best representative the downstairs crew could find.

The family is growing impatient waiting for Alejandro and/or Mili to show up. Lina runs downstairs to get out of the way so Mili can make her grand entrance. As she walks down the stairs, I wonder what she needed all the hairspray for--she's just got a rhinestone headband on and is wearing her hair straight. Regina and Hugo are the only ones excited to see her. Hugo greets her with a kiss, which makes Luciana roll her eyes. Constancio's response is, "OK, let's eat now!" Damian finishes his drink and as he walks behind Mili towards the dining room, I swear I thought he was going to smack her on the behind. He had that look in his eye. Hugo and Mili follow the rest of the family into the dining room.

Lina, Gloria, and Socorro run back to the kitchen after watching Mili's entrance. They think she looked wonderful. Braulio comes in all nervous because the salad should have been served already. Lina runs out to serve it, making Braulio nervous again in anticipation of lettuce flying everywhere. Gloria and Socorro just laugh.

OK, now, Socorro is a terrible, terrible friend. Even if someone else had decided to serve lobster, she should have foreseen the inherent issues and served something else. Like tacos maybe. That's more Mili's speed. Mili fights with her lobster-eating implements as Regina tries to telepathically give her instructions on exactly how she's supposed to get any food out of that thing. Luciana and Valeria make fun of Mili's lack of lobster-eating skills. She just can't make it work and gives up. Valeria calls her a naca. You know, I don't know if there's a Mexican Miss Manners, but I'm sure if there were, she would say that it's not polite to call someone a naca at the dinner table. Mili rises above it all and says Valeria's comment does not upset her. After she winks at Regina, she then slips down in her chair to give Valeria (who's sitting directly across from her) a good kick. Then she makes fun of Valeria's bad manners for screaming at the dinner table. See above re: soccer field.

Lina runs back to the kitchen to report that all is well, no one can take their eyes off of Mili. She compares her to the princess of Mono-naco…no, wait, Socorro corrects her, it's "Monaco." Hm, isn't the royal house of Monaco somewhat cursed? Perhaps it's a good comparison, then.

The family is now having after-dinner drinks back in the foyer/living room/confessional. Damian toasts to everyone's happiness, but Mili and Hugo specifically. Luciana doesn't drink. That's a first. Damian hugs Hugo and takes him off for a father-son chat. Is Hugo now going to find out where babies come from? Or is this the, "Hey, I once tried to rape your fiancée--no hard feelings?" chat? Alejandro's downstairs and he goes over to stand next to Mili once Hugo and Damian leave. Alejandro quietly tells Mili that she's beautiful ("I know") and he loves her and he's considering screaming it out. Mili taunts him that he's too much of a coward, so of course he does. This gets everyone's attention, including Hugo and Damian and people start asking Alejandro what he's on about. Mili says they were just singing flamenco and she twirls away form Alejandro singing "I love you, I love you with all my soul…." Then she says "That's how you do it cousin…you obviously don't have any Andalusian blood." Constancio asks if Mili does and that stops her in her tracks, as she admits she has no idea since she doesn't know her dad…but hey, she says, maybe he's a flamenco singer! Luciana and Valeria get cranky again about all the "stupidity" going on. Valeria hints it's Regina's fault for letting it happen and runs upstairs. Hugo chases after her yelling that he's tired of her rudeness. Alejandro goes back to Mili and tells her she's a liar, she knows the "I love you" was for her. Mili comes right back with, "No, you say it to a lot of girls in your bed." She tells Alejandro she knows he's a liar and she won't believe him anymore. She goes off "to give [her] fiancé a kiss," but Constancio asks her for a chat in the study.

She acts like she's been called to the principal's office. She thinks he's calling her on the carpet for singing and dancing in the living room. He says it's about something more serious. He says Damian should be having this conversation, not him…he's worried about Hugo's future and wonders if Mili marrying Hugo is what's best for him.

Andrea is calling Peralta (aka, the puppet-master). She asks for a private meeting and they set it up for the following day.

Mili thinks Constancio is rejecting her just like everyone else. She's really hurt because she thought he was different. He tries to explain it's not what she thinks. She tells him his heart is frozen and he only lives for his image. Meanwhile, Constancio's just sitting there like a fish, opening and closing his mouth with no sound coming out. As her parting shot she says she doesn't deserve this and if she had a decent dad he'd kick Constancio's ass. That's quite the mental image--it would look something like Constancio re-enacting that scene from Fight Club where Edward Norton beats himself up. Mili leaves, but Constancio catches up to her in the hallway and asks her forgiveness. He says he shouldn't have said it. Mili gives him a big kiss on the cheek and says of course he's forgiven. He shambles back to the study and has a "I'm never washing this cheek again" moment. He goes to a little safe on one of the bookshelves and talks to a picture of Rosario "She has your look, that proud look." Regina bursts in and asks to speak with him. She tells him he has a weird look, a sad look. She takes the picture of Rosario from him and says he never forgot her and she adored him. Regina says Mili reminds her of Rosario, but says it's better not to think about it. Constancio reminds her she wanted to talk to him. Regina says she's worried about Mili and the wedding, but she doesn't think Constancio can help. She says good night and leave. Constancio tells Rosario that Mili reminds him of her too.

The next morning, Chamuco brings in the groceries and tells Mili not to call Lina. She hangs on him a little too much, he says. She ends up coming in on her own and making eyes at him. Mili tries to do that throat clearing thing, but Lina doesn't get it. Mili tries to leave, but Chamuco won't let her, he keeps making pleading faces behind Lina's back. Mili's stuck, but eventually decides to leave Chamuco to his fate. He and Lina start unloading the groceries. For all his complaining, he's still giving Lina his best come-hither smile.

Padre Manuel and Constancio conference in the study. He spontaneously calls Mili "my daughter" which really makes Padre Manuel happy. Constancio tells PM that Mili's marrying Hugo. He tells PM that he tried to dissuade Mili from marrying Hugo and he really felt like he was talking to his daughter and he saw Rosario in her, but with Regina's character. He didn't talk about it to Mili, though. PM tries to convince him he needs to, but Constancio says he can't do it--he can't even look her in the eyes. He asks PM where Rosario is buried and PM says she's in a little cemetery near the convent, "in a tomb without a name." Constancio repeats this last like he realizes (a) how sad it is and that (b) it's partly his fault because he's too chickenshit to tell the truth. Although, I guess we can also blame Braulio, since he knows the truth and isn't doing anything to put a name on his sister's tomb either.

Mili has a man-to-man talk with Chamuco about being straight up and telling Lina he's not interested. She has to explain to him that he shouldn't lead her on like that. Mili then tries to convince Chamuco he should be interested in Lina. He tells her he likes Gloria instead. Mili's like "oops!" Chamuco exits and PM enters. She agrees to walk back to the convent with PM and tell him the whole story about getting engaged to Hugo. She picks a bunch of roses and then goes upstairs to change clothes. Alejandro watches from inside.

Peralta and Andrea have their meeting. She gives him the full-on come-hither. She tells him there's a smear campaign against Constancio and he thinks Peralta is behind it. Peralta freaks out…he thinks Constancio has forgotten he's the puppet master. Andrea spins a tale about him not trusting Peralta because of the Sergio thing. She says she's there of her own accord to warn him that Constancio and Damian are going to start a campaign of their own against Peralta as revenge. It may be because I'm not BSC, but I don't get what she hopes to accomplish. She's like someone stepping on anthills just to watch them scurry.

Thanks to Mili's roses, Constancio easily finds Rosario's grave. He tells her he wasn't good to her.

Alejandro comes to the convent and runs into Padre Manuel. PM knows he's looking for Mili. Alejandro asks where she is.

Constancio tells Rosario he found their daughter and Mili's like her, beautiful, sweet…. Mili busts him at there. I guess those roses were from earlier, as Mili's still holding the bunch she just took from the front yard. She yells at him and he says he just wanted to meet her mom, he was curious. Oops, wrong answer. He keeps trying to work it, "she's your mom, you're living in my house." Mili says she wouldn't believe it if he said he cared about her or was interested in her. He says she's wrong and he leaves. Mili puts the roses down and says hi to her mom. Alejandro now comes up and tells Rosario to tell Mili that she's making a mistake, she can't marry Hugo. Eyes get teary, chests heave, mouths hang open, end scene.

Peralta tries to call Constancio to clear things up, but Andrea says "I don't want him to know I talked to you." Andrea says she's been more than a secretary to Constancio and she's looking to move up to the major leagues. Also she wants revenge on Constancio. Peralta calls her dangerous. They mack. Gross. She's like a walking hormone. He tries to tell her he won't be sucked in that easily…that's because he hasn't seen her trick with the hose and the tennis balls (thanks, Beckster!). Andrea says Constancio's trying to go over Peralta's head, but he's not having any of that. He says he can destroy Constancio and gives her an envelope and tells her that she's got to get Constancio to hand the envelope over to the president of the party so that it will look like Constancio's working with the opposition. Andrea tells him she can't give the envelope to Constancio or he'll suspect. Peralta says to use Damian to do it so Andrea and Peralta won't take the fall for it. "How can I ever thank you?" Andrea asks. Peralta asks his secretary to hold all calls so they can get busy. Gross.

Mili's running away from Alejandro. She tells him he can't use her mom like that and to stay out of her life…she stays out of his! Alejandro disagrees. She's in his heart or wherever and he can't get her out. He thinks of her 24/7, he loves her. Mili doesn't care and she says he's out of her heart and now she's got something else going on. Mili runs into Sor Cachete and uses her to run interference, thinking Alejandro will leave her alone if she's with a nun. She's right.

Luciana stands in the front yard and cries about her roses being cut. Regina comes out asking what's up. Luciana tells Regina to tell Mili to quit it. Regina's like, whatever, they'll grow--and quit insulting Mili. She asks why Luciana hates her so much. Luciana makes some lame excuse. Regina says that if she gets into it with Mili again, it will be like she's getting into it with Regina herself. Luciana complains some more. Regina says she feels sorry for her and walks away.

Mili and Sor Cachete walk back to the house. Sor Cachete thinks if he said it in front of Rosario's grave, he can't be lying. Sor Cachete doesn't think Mili should marry Hugo if her heart belongs to Alejandro. They meet with a cute little street urchin. He lives on the street and has no parents, as per the street urchin union code of conduct. Sor Cachete tries to sell him on coming to the convent, but he's like "no way!" and he kicks Sor Cachete and runs off.

Andrea is cleaning out her desk at Belmonte Co. Damian comes up to taunt her. Andrea throws the envelope in the trash, saying it's something Sergio left, trying to get back in Constancio's good graces. She makes what's in the envelope sound like the Holy Grail. She tells Damian she's not going to give Constancio anything that will help him out after the way she was treated. Damian, of course, fishes it out of the trash once she's gone. He really has no idea how easy he is to manipulate. He pulls out a big sheaf of papers, probably written in legalese, that I bet he's not going to bother to read. How he's going to get Constancio to give it to the party president without Constancio reading it and realizing it's bad for his career is beyond me.

Sor Cachete and Mili chase the urchin around a parking lot and a park area. They drag him back to the convent and try to convince the Mother Superior to take him in. She tries to say they can't take anyone in because there's no money and they can transfer him somewhere else. Mili already gave him the goods on this convent, though (Padre Manuel is cool, Sor Cachete is an awesome cook, Mother Superior is…um…ok). Mili says she'll get a big fat donation for the convent, but not from the Belmontes. She's going to get the money her way. MS agrees to keep the urchin, but someone needs to give him a bath. This sets him to running again. As per Street Urchin Union local #101, bathing is only to be done once per year needed or not and he's got at least six more months to go.

Valeria and Pilar sit out on the lawn while Karla serves them drinks. Karla hangs on every word as Valeria complains about Mili's bad table manners ("all she lacked was wiping her mouth with the tablecloth") and about how Hugo and Alejandro are both idiots for being into her. Pilar tells Valeria to not be so snobby and brings up the Andrea thing ("It gives me chills to think that she would go so far!"). Valeria would love for Pilar to get Alejandro's attention away from Mili and while Pilar isn't quite seeing it from that angle, she does say that she fully intends to get Alejandro back. So far, I'm not sure what to think of Pilar--is she really a decent girl or just faking it? Do we have a junior Andrea on our hands?

Mili and Sor Cachete act like they're planning to give a cat a bath the way they approach the street urchin. He threatens them with a wrestling move and says no way are they seeing his private parts! They make a coordinated strike.

As expected, Damian comes into Constancio's office with the envelope. I'll spare you his spiel. He leaves the envelope with Constancio and Constancio says he'll look it over. He and I are probably both wondering what Damian is expecting in return. Constancio takes it out of the envelope after Damian leaves and the cover page looks like a 3rd grader's idea of what a political proposal would look like: "Law Project" in big letters with the slightly smaller subtitle, "Law Project of the Political Party." Puh-leez! Constancio starts reading.

Tomorrow: Luciana lets Braulio know she knows the truth about Mili…and then my DVR cuts off, but I imagine some other stuff happens as well.

La Traición, Wed., March 26 - Alcides is alive; Dr. Chirac is dead and Aurora is born

Holy Mackerel! We're back to hurtling forward in the story.

It's all happening at the train station, which looks like a Greek temple. Soledad sees Hugo. She is distracted for a second by Ursula and when she looks back Hugo has disappeared. Meanwhile Hugo tells the doctor what happened and Team Hugo splits up to meet later at the hotel. Soledad is running around looking for Hugo. Ursula convinces Soledad that she should concentrate on finding Dr. Chirac and Ursula leaves her to go have the doctor called (you should know better Ursula). Behind a giant column, we can see Hugo making himself look like Alcides. Dr. Chirac comes out and introduces himself to Soledad. She asks him to attend at her delivery. He says that he is more of scientist than a practitioner. He is here to investigate an illness called... At this point Hugo shows himself to Soledad to keep the doctor from blabbing about catalepsy to Soledad. She runs after him.

Ester runs into Rebeca at the train station. Warned just in time by Paquito, she whips off her ML wig and hat. Ester asks for Rebecca's help in identifying the ML because she is involved with Lucas. Rebeca promises to help Ester all she can. Antonia overhears the conversation.

Dr. Max has come to meet Dr. Chirac. When Chirac tells Max that he can't come to his laboratory right away because he is going to attend a birth, Dr. Max stabs him. Boris and Marina find him and with his dying breath he says that Hugo must find his son and give him the doctor's papers. His son is familiar with his research. Unfortunately, Dr. Chirac does not manage to tell Boris and Marina who stabbed him. Paquito sees B & M huddled over the body and raises the alarm. B & M flee.

Los Burque are having their same tiresome argument when the police come and try to arrest for illegally diverting a train. They manage to escape.

Meanwhile Soledad has chased Hugo into a forest. Why there is a forest right next to the train station in a big city is not clear. Hugo hides behind a tree and apparently turns to stone. First, Soledad runs around yelling, "Hugo, mi amor," then she hears a noise and runs off. Hugo doesn't move. Los Burque are in the forest. They hide from the police behind a bush and when they stand up, they see Hugo standing there looking at them. Of course, they think he is Alcides and run away in terror. While they are recovering from this horror, the police arrest them. As they are being led away, a policeman comes to tell Inspector Duarte that Dr. Chirac has been murdered. Still hiding behind the tree, Hugo hears the news. "No puede ser," he says.

Eloisa is having a fitting of her wedding dress and she notices that Gladis is sad. Apparently, today is Beatriz' birthday and Gladis misses her. Poof! We see Nurse Beatriz having a birthday cake with Dr. Pablo and the other nurses. She is so happy that nursing has cured her of her psychological problems. Dr. Pablo says that she is an excellent nurse.

No one can find Soledad. Maybe she got on a train. Lucas and Ester can't understand what she was doing. Ursula tells them that Soledad thought she saw Hugo. Ester and Lucas decide to wait at home for news. Rebeca tells Paquito what Ursula said about Soledad seeing Hugo.

Boris and Marina are at the hotel waiting for Hugo. Boris is very concerned but Marina says that Hugo can take care of himself. Boris says that he hopes no one has seen Hugo. If someone sees Hugo, they are all dead.

Besides Soledad, only two people have seen Hugo but they have big mouths. Arturo is walking with Eloisa. Arturo says that Beatriz is dead to him. They encounter the police taking Los Burque to the station. Los Burques are telling anyone who will listen that they have seen Alcides. Arturo is interested to hear about what they saw.

Finally Hugo stirs from behind the tree and immediately Soledad finds him. She embraces him, doesn't tell him anything useful and faints as she goes into labor. Hugo carries her to Dr. Max's house. Hugo tells a deeply suspicious Dr. Max that he is Alcides and then acts as birthing coach for Soledad but she can't see him.

A campesino tells Beatriz that there is a guy who has been living in a cave for months who needs medical attention. Beatriz goes there with him but the campesino won't go into the cave. I'm thinking it's a trap and it's Fabio but it's Alcides and he's doesn't recognize Beatriz - he's lost his memory! (For a guy whose been living in a cave for months, Alcides' hair looks really good).

Jeremias the ghost comes to get Enrico to help Soledad. Enrico goes to the Obregon's house and tells them that he knows where Soledad is and she is about to give birth.

Eloisa tells Rebeca and Paquito that Los Burque are claiming that they saw Alcides.

While lightning flashes and thunder crashes, Soledad's baby is born. Soledad asks to hold the baby. Dr. Max says he has to examine the baby. Hugo tells him to give her the baby. The credits roll.

Scenes from tomorrow are very confusing.

Guapos 03-25-2008 "If you can't be with the one you love...Honey"

Well we figuratively see get to watch Mili cut off her nose to spite her face. The episode starts with Hugo making the announcement that he & lil Mili are an item. This leads to shocked expressions all round.

Luci is staring off in space as Consti is yapping on the phone. Luci looks like she and her best beau Jack Daniels, had a rough night. Consti is on his way out.

Consti hooks up with Andrea, he will give her no help, other than to return the apartment, car and I suppose a running tab at Victoria Secrets. Andrea looks like she just found a fake nail at the bottom of her drink, a fake nail in a shade she doesn’t own. Oh no, poor Andrea of the much discussed womb, has been cast into a golden cage, but a cage still in all. Consti, doctor shopping and having a tremendous supply of Viagra, plans to vote early and often. I’m not really following why she looks so unhappy with the situation, it’s not like she hasn’t driven down this road before, she literally knows every bump.

Meanwhile, back at the hacienda for a reason that escapes me, the servants have all gathered about the table and are playing the rich folks. Gloves is Hugo, Lina is Regina, Gloria is Val, Rocky is Consti, Socorrito is Luci, & Horacio is her brother Damien. Mili plays Mili, actually it is kinda funny. Socorrito does a good drunken Luci and Horacio does a most excellent sniveling cunado to Rocky’s Consti. Gloria is awesome as snotty Val & Mili holds her own and acts above it all. –See this is why as incredibly wealthy as I am, I don’t have servants, they will stab you in the back, I prefer to just buy slaves, same difference, but no messy rights.

Rocky gets a shot at the Taco Naco business over at the main bar and dance emporium Rodeo.

Al’s old girlfriend Pilar (Bwahhhaaa she was Karen in de Mundo) comes to visit Al to see what she can do about becoming his old new girlfriend. Al answers his door and old new chick comes in. Al is wearing only his towel slung on his hips. Personally I’m not feeling it, but for those of you who do…enjoy.
Pilar starts talking to him about his much crumpled heart. No, not Andrea, but someone else. Someone who made him feel as never before, so in love, so passionate. NOTE: to oldnew girlfriend, seriously no dude that was into you in the slightest would tell you that drivel, he tells his Granny that nonsense, are you feeling all romantic now?

Anyway, Mili who is lurking about, sees her come out of Al’s bedroom of broken dreams, lamenting and teeth gnashing. Mili hides around the corner, of course, we are destined for months of half-truths, innuendo & a failure to communicate. Mili looks like she is going to puke and wanders in circles, granted they are small circles and she finally reaches Hugo’s door right before she falls from exhaustion and is eaten alive by hyenas and vultures. Hugo seeing her crushed expression; inquires to her crestfalleness. “Are we Novios?” She is yelling loudly, she wants to shout it to the whole world or at least two doors down the hall to Al’s room. Hugo looking like he has just been told that he is on Prom Court grabs for her hand with glee.

Consti is getting dressed at Andrea’s. He is all grins and she looks like she has just been just been told that not only does she have head lice, egads they have spread. Consti continues to talk in that patronizing way. She asks if Luci will wonder where Consti spent the night. Frankly my dear Consti doesn’t give a damn.
He tells her he’ll be back and she better behave.

He leaves. Andrea calls some friend who works for a newspaper, she is gonna give them the big scoop on Consti’s business.

Val is talking to Pilar, who is trying to get the low down on Al’s great love. Val says it was nothing. Consti comes home. Andrea’s apartment must be in the toolshed. Meanwhile, Regina comes in and OldNewGirlfriend Pilar gets up and skips across the floor, reminding me of Heidi of the Alps. She is soooooooo happy to see Granny. Granny says she is looking for Mili. Val says Mili is serving them coffee. Mili comes in carrying the coffee and Hugo says he has an important announcement. Mili will no longer be serving the family as he and she will soon be joined in wedded bliss. Jaws drop all round.
Snotty Spice of course has to say that Mili is just after the money. Yeh, so unlike the married guy that Snotty almost married, he was only interested in her sweet pure personality. A cat fight breaks out with Consti in the middle yelling at both girls. Mili tries to force people to congratulate them. Damien says he will talk to his son. Luci appears to be scanning the room for a hidden bottle. Granny wants to talk to Mili. Hugo appears to be the only happy person in the room. Mili really tries to force Al to congratulate her. He just runs upstairs to change his clothes and go with OldNewGirlfriend.

Granny says she can’t support Mili’s decision to marry Hugo. She doesn’t love him. Mili says she loved that RatBastard Al, first it was Andrea, then not five seconds later…he was semi-nude with Pilar, locking lips. Granny has that well, boys will be boys look. So I guess Mili has decided it is better to marry crazy Hugo rather than wait til like her 19th birthday. My advice to Mili is, honey life is a banquet, so the Taco Asada gave you heartburn, there are plenty more items on the menu, no reason to settle for the Poco Loco Omelet.

Andrea, the BSC calls Hugo and says she has to see him. Hugo goes. ---See I was right, this girl does totally live in the past and not just her wardrobe choices, she wants Al back and thinks it will be no problemo. Hugo says Al will never take Andrea back. She thinks it is cause of Mili. Well no, not so much it is cause you are a crazy pretend baby killing psycho. Andrea says if he doesn’t help her she will say he was in on the deception. Yeah let’s see it was Hugo, Damien, Doctor buddy, Consti and maybe Luci, but she was too drunk to remember.

Damien tells Hugo, he is happy for him and he thinks Mili is great. He is glad Hugo has some new obsession.

Rocky goes around giving invites to the whole staff, to come to Taco Naco’s tonite. Great everyone is going, well not Snotty. The girls (Gloria, Lina and Mili) are sitting out on the lawn talking about going to Rocky’s big night. Of course the conversation turns to guys, but Mili does not want to talk about Hugo.

Pilar comes up and wants to talk to Mili. They walk and talk, I think Pilar is playing Mili, she talks about how in love she was with Al, he was her first. She wants to continue with him.
---Oh my gawd this was such a deja vu moment for me. I fondly recall walking with the staff on Martha’s Vineyard while regaling them with my first time story’s about the rich and powerful frat boys playing football on the front lawn---Well I didn’t specify which first time. Anyway, I know the servants were quite enamoured with my “Kickin it with the help” attitude.
Anyhow, Mili invites Pilar to the TacoNaco fest.

Mili tells Granny about the Taco fest. Granny tells Gloves they are going out.

Miss Perky Britches cons Al into going to the TacoNaco fest. Do it for your Prima. My Prima? Well she is marrying your Primo.

Now over at the Rodeo. Rocky has an eatery set up back behind the dance floor. Gloria, Lina & Grocery delivery boy, Hugo & Mili, Horacio & Socorrito. We go through some father, keep you hands off my baby between Horacio & grocery boy. Al & Pilar come in and he is all huggy with her. He and Mili fire barbs at each other. All retreat to the dance floor.

Mili is dancing all kinda flirty with Hugo putting her cowboy hat on his head and so on. Of course all is dancing with Pilar (Al & Mili) watch each other. Granny is sitting with Gloves, who is wearing his bow-tie and gloves (Que the Hell?). Gloves comes up and tells Mili & Hugo, that Granny says Tacos for everyone.

The whole group is in the back and Rocky makes a heartfelt speech about how they are his family and they are their to share in his success. He chokes up. Maybe I would have too, but I didn’t really pay much attention. You go guy.

Next day….Damien and Consti are pacing the floor there is some big newspaper story about how the business is in trouble. Consti is not happy.

There will be a family dinner tonight for Hugo and Mili, oh good times good times. Mili goes into Hugo’s room, Al creeping around in the hall, see her and stands outside the door. Mili is nervous, but Hugo says be cool, he will be right by her side. They kiss, Al comes in and does the clap, you know the one that people do when they are they only one clapping and they do it real slow. Hugo appearing to be the sane one says, What are you doing? He congratulates Hugo, much happiness primo. He offers Mili congrats too and sweeps in for a kiss, not a full fledged tongue hockey kiss, more of a hit or miss off the side of her mouth. She es muy impacto and not in a good way. She slaps him and Hugo grabs him. Al turns to walk away and then says, you got quite a deal, she is really good in bed. Mili screams and runs at the door, but Al is already gone. Hugo hugs her.

I would have forgiven a lot with this show, if they would have only shown Al doing the stiff leg five-year old pout walk down the hall. I have suffered through good looking guys crying over bad dressing angel dating ugly girls, I have suffered through forty year old virgins with equipment problems, I have suffered through pretty boys looking for a new husband for his beloved wife while the pretty boy suffers silently from leukemia, but damn Al you are a bit of a spoiled prick. I mean if Al did it cause he was evil, well okay, but he does it and he is so clueless of his pretentious golden boyness. No other guy on this show can even get any action, except Consti & Damien and face it, they have to pay for it. Al is a bi-hemisphere galan, he has women in Mexico and now the oldie, but you were my first and I swear only shows up from Europe, cause yeah there are no hot guys in Europe.

Now the family from hell are seated in the living room. Val makes some nasty little speech to Hugo about how she is so freakin happy he is marrying a Naca. Luci tries to make amends, but soon veers into if you want my honest opinion. Consti interrupts and plays it off. The rich and famous are now getting distracted and wonder what is the hold up. It is Al, who is in time out in his room. He is sitting on his bed remembering the day he and Mili had the fake marriage at the Church Festival. How could things go so wrong. Well if you would keep your various appendages to yourself. ….Anyway Granny comes in and tells Al, he has to suck it up OR stop the worst lie since “Weapons of Mass Destruction” and stop this nonsense. Mili can’t marry a man she doesn’t love………………………………………………

The End…
OMG we are left to wonder….Will Mili marry Hugo? If Hugo does and paints a full nude of Mili, won’t Damiens and Hugo’s conversations become even more vague and awkward as Damien stares at the painting? Fearing a repeat of history, will Luci take to hiding the bottles, knowing it is only a matter of time before Mili starts drinking her way through a loveless marriage? Luci may share Consti, but she sure the hell ain’t sharing the booze.

By the by…Consti is having a conversation with dead Rosario at the grave tomorrow night, choking back tears or maybe his eyes are watering from a reaction to whatever massage oil he forced Andrea to use on him, he is telling Mili’s Ma that she is sweet and beautiful. Mili runs up demanding to know what he is doing at her mother’s grave.

Also I must add here that soon a new one is starting…I keep seeing the commercial for the Tres Mariachis,
Just my name for them. But Rod from Destilando, and he is screaming….Hee good times good times.

EPISODE 73:
* Rico climbs down into panga and directs Mario and crew to row towards shore.

* Justo speaks with Sofia in her private salon. Sofia is impactado to learn that Lis won't let Cami have visitors. Sofia leaves room calling for Consuelo.

* Rico and crew come ashore carrying the chests.

* Sofia forces her way past the guard at the door. Cleo opens the door - Sofia is aghast to see Cami on hands and knees scrubbing the pavers. Sofia picks Cami up and orders Cleo to get Lis for her. Cami hands Sofia her note for Justo. They hug and Sofia prays for Rico to return and everything to be resolved.

* Rico, Mario and crew on horseback with chests. Rico is anxious to return to town.

* Rico and crew meet up with Chino and crew on road. Chino asks if Rico met with men Paisana sent to Posada Iguana. Rico and crew came ashore at a different point. Chino tells Rico that Cami's family knows about Rico's true background and that Lis has Cami with her. Rico is impactado; Mario tries to talk him out of returning to town; Rico doesn't listen and gallops away - his crew follows.

* Sofia and Lis have strong discussion about Lis not permitting Cami to have family visits and Rico's reaction to Lis' decision about enslaving Cami. Lis will only sell Cami to Rico and that decision is final. Sofia warns Lis about Rico and leaves. Fran warns Lis about making an enemy of Sofia.

* Sofia is fretting and worried about Cami as she talks with Jorge at the mansion. Sofia hates that Lis won't sell Cami to anyone but Rico. Jorge argues for Sofia to stay out of this matter.

* Sofia goes to house and talks with Ines in the yard - Ines tells her that Justo and Santo are inside discussing how to pay off the debt because Cami doesn't want Rico to do it. Sofia can't believe it.

* In salon, Justo and Santo are discussing how to gather enough money to pay off Cami's debt - Justo thinks Jorge may be the one with enough money to help. Ines enters to tell Justo that Sofia is waiting outside.

* Outside in the lawnchairs, Sofia talks with Justo about letting Rico pay off the debt, he is her husband and is obligated to do it. Justo is torn. Sofia gives Justo the note from Cami. Justo reads it and everyone is excited to know that Lis has cancelled the debt. Sofia says read what the condition is. Justo reads and says there isn't anything more written. (Uh-Oh!)

* Rico is determined to return to town. In woods, Mario and Rico argue over why Rico shouldn't go into town - in case the authorities are pursuing him as a pirate. Rico is impatient and angry and barks at Mario to give suggestions.

* As they clean the patio, Cami finds out from Candida about Alberto and Lis' engagement as well as Uriel and Ursula's engagement. Cami is also upset about not attending her niece's baptism. Cleo comes out, interrupts and gets after both of them for gossiping on the job. Cami scolds Cleo and goes inside. Cleo scolds Candida and forbids her niece from talking with Cami anymore.

* In the storeroom, Cami cries and prays to G-d to understand why she is suffering from so much heartbreak.

* Uriel waits and talks with Jorge in the entry salon - first they discuss business; Mateo is away helping deal with the shipments. Uriel asks Jorge when they will formalize the engagement for him and Ursula. Jorge tells him about Rico and because of their business with the pirates, they need to keep a low profile right now. Uriel agrees. Sofia and Fortunata come downstairs. Ursula has a headache and won't be going with them to the baptism.

* At the church, Santo and Rita watch as Padre Don Agustin, and godparents Ofelia and Justo baptize little Ana Maria Marquez Darien.

* Outside the church, everyone congratulates Santo and Rita. Justo invites Jorge to the reception at the house. Jorge turns it down. Jorge congratulates Santo and asks him to come by the mansion after the reception to meet with him. Santo agrees.

* The whole family walks over to the house. Justo is talking with Sofia and Fortunata as they situate themselves around the table in the yard. Fortunata blabs about Ursula and Uriel's upcoming engagement.

* Jimena comes to the mill and asks Higinio where Ascanio is. Higinio says in the office. Jimena goes upstairs.

* In the office, Ascanio is hard at work sorting through the files of paperwork as Jimena enters to greet him. Both received invitations but declined to attend the baptism. Jimena is upset about the situation with Cami, Rico and Santo. Ascanio continues to sort through the files as he talks with her. She bugs him to take a break and walk into town. He agrees.

* In the woods, Rico agrees to wait there. Mario and crew will deliver the chests to the authorities. Rico commands them to leave now - he's impatient. They leave.

* Manuela visits Ursula in her bedroom. Manuela asks Ursula why she didn't attend baptism - Ursula wasn't interested, Manuela wasn't interested in attending either. Ursula chides Manuela over her secret love for Ascanio. Manuela is nervous and gets after her for it but Ursula doesn't stop right away. Ursula offers Manuela some cherries and asks her opinions about Lis - Ursula thinks she is a snake and a rat.

* Mario and crew arrive in the plaza and unload the chests from the horses.

* Mario and crew bring the chests into the chambers of Don Eustaquio. Mario explains the chests are the money Rico promised to pay off Cami's debts. Mario also explains why Rico didn't come himself. Don Eustaquio explains to Mario they never had been pursuing Rico for piracy, and how Cami is now in servitude to Lis. Lis is now living at Cami's old house, not Alberto's. Don Eustaquio is pleased that Rico returned and completed his promise. They discuss Lis' decisions and the effects of this on the Darien family.

* Ascanio and Jimena are on the plaza - Jimena gets a pastry snack. Manuela rushes passed. Ascanio tries to stop her to talk; Manuela excuses herself and continues on her way. Ascanio is really concerned and Jimena chides him about it, until she sees Mario walk out of the municipal building. Jimena runs and hugs him on the plaza. Jimena asks him where Rico is. Mario holds up his two fingers to keep her quiet.

* In the cafe, Ascanio tells Mario how he and Santo met Don Molinar Pastor and the real Don Ricardo Lopez de Carvajal and Santo's reactions to Don Ricardo's story. Ascanio says Santo won't report Rico to avoid disgrace to the family. Jimena adds that Cami had to make a deal with Santo to keep him from telling the authorities - she had to promise to separate permanently from Rico. Mario is worried.

* Mario goes back to the woods and tells Rico what he learned from Don Eustaquio, Jimena and Ascanio. Rico is furious, mounts his horse and gallops towards town. Mario and crew follow.

* Alberto is trying to hug Lis in the courtyard. He wants to have a huge party and announce their engagement to everyone in town. Lis only wants a small private reception. Alberto really wants to marry her soon. Lis makes excuses why they have to wait. Alberto is frustrated and acts like he understands. He brushes her hair back off her shoulders; she makes a really nervous, disgusted face as he kisses her neck. Alberto leaves. Lis calls for Cleo and asks her to get Cami for her. Cleo helps Lis inside the house.

* Rico stops, Mario gives him instructions of how to get to house. Rico, Mario and crew ride to town.

* In the salon, Lis orders Cami to convince Rico they have to separate. Cami says he's not stupid. Lis says to do whatever she has to convince him. Cami remembers her deal with Santo in the jail cell. Cami asks what's in it for Lis? Lis tells her that Alberto suspects Rico is Antillano.

* Rico and crew arrive outside the house. Rico barges into the courtyard and orders the nervous nilly Cleo to tell Lis he is there to speak with her. Cleo runs inside.

* Cleo finds Lis with Fran in the bedroom. Cleo tells Lis that Rico is outside waiting to see her. Lis is excited and says she'll see him in the salon. Cleo leaves. Fran seems curious and bewildered.

* Cleo escorts Rico to the salon.

* In the storeroom, Candida sneaks in and tells Cami that her husband is in the salon, he wants to speak with Lis. Cami is excited that he has returned. Candida has to leave so her aunt doesn't scold her again. Alone, Cami prays for strength and the words to convince Rico.

* Lis enters the salon and greets Rico. Rico asks Lis why she won't permit Justo or the family to visit Cami? Lis says it wasn't her idea, Alberto forced her to do it. He's cruel, he threatened to report Rico as Antillano, and abuses his daughter. She's scared of him. Lis turns on the crocodile tears and asks Rico to take her away from there. He asks to speak with Cami. She agrees and begs him not to leave her there. She lays her head on his shoulder. He doesn't really believe her but plays along anyway.

* In the storeroom, Rico and Cami have a tender reunion with hugs and kisses. He knows about Santo and the deal; he assures her all will be resolved and everything will be okay. Cami tells Rico the truth about Alberto, Lis and Santo. Cami also tells him about Lis and her canceling the debt. Rico tells her that he already paid off the debt. She asks where he got the money; he says he asked Foreman for a loan. She's worried about the consequences; he isn't worried - he has two ships and is a merchant. He asks if Santo had told Jorge or the authorities. She doesn't think so, because of the deal she made with him. Rico won't accept the deal. He will only leave town if she goes with him. He doesn't give a darn about Santo's jealousy or Lis' perverse fantasies. He only wants a normal, happy life with her. She's worried about the dangers to his life if Santo does report him. He gives her strength and assurance to keep fighting to be together. Rico asks her to run away with him tonight. She asks to leave a parting note for her father. Rico will explain a cover story with Lis. He tells her she is life, his time and gives her his silver shell pocket watch. They kiss.

* Lis yells in the salon, thinking Fran entered. Rico says no, it's him. Rico tells Lis what he knows she wants to hear, that he and Cami have officially separated, and that he and Lis will leave soon - he will return for her and she is to prepare her things. Rico leaves. Lis believes him and thinks she's finally won.

* Rico leaves the house and tells Mario he spoke with Cami and Lis - Rico, Mario and crew gallop away.

* Lis goes to courtyard and finds Cleo. Lis tells her to tell Fran and everyone that she doesn't want to be disturbed at all.

* Cleo goes to Fran's bedroom and tells Fran that Rico was there, he met with Cami and then talked with Lis and then left. Cleo says that Lis is in her room and doesn't want to be disturbed. Fran is concerned.

* In the hallway with Cleo, Fran knocks on the bedroom door. Lis, inside packing her small suitcase, calls out that she has a headache and doesn't want to be disturbed. Fran is concerned and leaves to get some tea for her.

* Santo, Ofelia, Rita holding Ana and the twins leave the house. Justo is sad that Cami wasn't there. Ines tries to cheer him up. Justo and Paco talk as they walk to the house. Ines and Vasco sit at the table - Vasco asks her about Rico and Ascanio. As Ines talks so positively about Ascanio and his advice, Vasco asks her about her friendship with him. Ines explains. He asks if she would consider marrying Ascanio. Ines pauses and says, if Ascanio asks her again, she would say yes in a heartbeat because Ascanio would be a better husband than Vasco. (Oo, harsh words.) Ines leaves.

* Santo brings Ofelia, Rita and Ana back home to the bedroom. Santo has to leave to meet with Jorge - he doesn't know what the meeting is about. Santo leaves. Rita is excited hoping Santo has accepted having a relationship with his father. Ofelia just glares at her.

* In the storeroom, Cami cries as she writes a letter to her dad explaining her decisions and her love for Rico. She asks for his understanding and forgiveness.

ADVANCE: Cleo the blabbermouth fouls up the plan for Rico to run away with Cami right ahead of Mario leaving with Lis.

Juan-Tuesday March 25 2008 A Time of New Beginnings--Most of Them Painful

Folks, it's been a bad week and a sad evening for me. And for the characters in Juan Querendon, life has been tough as well. Here are the highlights...or low points, if you wish, of tonight's show.

We start out with a rehash of Cesar Luis and Paula, discussing whether or not their marriage can be saved. She says 'no', he says 'yes'. He blames all their troubles on Juan, including his rageful attack on her after the miscarriage. She says their marriage was doomed from the beginning.

He asks her to put herself in his place. She won't and can't. He asks her to be honest and admit that her affection for Juan has something to do with the decision to not go back to him. He assures her she'll be ashamed to have that third-rate chauffeur, that oranguatan Juan for a husband. What will you talk about together?--mechanics? You'll ruin your life if you go with him! That's not your problem, she replies. Body language very closed. Her arms are crossed, her face is tight. I can't believe this is happening to ME, Cesar Luis laments.

In the meantime, our beloved naco-oranguatan is at the warehouse trying to get together the money to buy Monica's shares in the business. Things are sounding good as Herbierto talks to his papi Don Aldemar on the phone, but when Juan actually hears what little money Aldemar has deposited in the account, he pushes Herbierto asides and shouts "I couldn't even buy a used car with that much money".

There's a brief scene with Yvonne and Pastor. She tried to get into Marely's computer to find him the data he needs to firm up the Campeoni deal but couldn't access it...and what's worse, was caught trying to do so. Pastor frets that he HAS to pull this one off for Cesar Luis.

Since Angarita is loath to invest in the Farrell stock, Juan calls Fernando to find out if the company is in good shape, with Kike coaching the questions as he talks. We switch to the school where Juanito is getting pelted with spit balls and generally enjoying a miserable day. Now back to the warehouse where Fernando has arrived and wants to know what's up. When he finally realizes that Juan has a chance to buy Monica's shares in the company he tells him to go for it...it's a great deal...in fact he can't believe she's ready to sell the goose that lays the golden eggs ("gallina de huevos de oro"). Angarita still won't invest but if Juan gives him his shares of the anturio venture, he'll have enough for the down payment on Monica's deal. Juan makes him promise that Angarita will keep on Molondron and Don Aldemar as "socios" partners. Angarita makes a face but then agrees. General rejoicing and jumping around followed by a trip to the bank to get the money and firm things up with Monica.

Monica is cuddling with the ever-patient Gustavo on the couch...promising him that after she wraps up a few things, she'll be ready to leave tomorrow. Thanks for arriving in my life and awakening what I thought was dead, she adds. Looks like there's a happy ending for at least two folks here, friends, but there's more drama ahead for the rest of the cast.

Dona Ana is doing the mother thing with Paula. Are you sure of what you're doing? Is this about Juan? The usual. Paula assures her that she's doing it for herself, in order to heal her wounds...away from Cesar Luis. She admits she should have listened to her mom in church and never even married the guy. And now, all she needs from mom is her unconditional support. And Ana promises to give her just that.

Cesar Luis doesn't have a mom to qvetch to (probably never had!) but Pastor Gaytan is doing the honors, as usual. She wants a divorce, Cesar laments. Pastor opines that love forgives all, even a nasty temper like CL's. But then, maybe she never loved you, he guesses. But no...she'd have to..an intelligent, successful, charming....Don't suck up, Pastor, CL fires back.

Pastor takes a new tack. All right, divorce. You're young, you can find someone else. Things turn sinister here. Cesar says quietly that he'll never give her a divorce so she can run to that oranguatan Juan. If she tries, she signs her death sentence. If she thinks she can do this, she doesn't know Cesar Luis. Very menacing in an understated way. His cold anger is even more unsettling than his rages.

Juan is closing the deal with Monica. Laura is upset she missed him. Monica protests that he showed up unexpectedly and her cousin says she could have at least alerted her on her cell phone! Did he ask for me? she adds hopefully. Monica douses that hope quickly...and moves to douse another hope by calling Cesar to say she won't be in today either (and thanks for asking how I am...he didn't) and how are you, Bad, he replies, but he perks up when she invites him to dinner...and at the apartment no less. Hope springs eternal with an ego like his.

Juan arrives at the school to pick up Juanito and in typical obtuse parent style manages to ignore all Juanito's signals that he's miserable in the new school and never wants to return. It ends with Juan hoping to make everything better by giving Juanito something to eat. Poor little guy...hope the school nightmare doesn't last too long. The adults have brought about their own troubles and misfortunes, but poor little Juanito has just had this pesadillo thrust upon him.

Monica and Cesar are finishing up a lovely meal...white tablecloth, flowers, candles, the works. He's doing his flirty charming bit with her and that's when she tells him she's leaving. He laughs. Doesn't get it. For how long? Forever I'm going away far from here...far FROM YOU. It's beginning to sink in. Cesar turns the focus back on himself. You can't leave ME. What can I do to change your mind? How can I lose the two women I have loved in one day? What did I do wrong?

Monica is more than happy to answer. First of all, she assures him it took him more than one day to lose them and he did it by playing dirty with both of them. But he doesn't have to feel codemned...he can learn from his mistakes. Be wiser in the future. Learn! Cesar feels he's done all he could to save the marriage. Your ego is so big, you think anything you do is great, replies Monica. But I hope you'll be happy one day. Cesar starts to move in for a clinch but she stops him with a firm hand on his chest. He acquieces and settles for taking her hands in his. Her face is conflicted...there's firmness of purpose but also pain. His face is closed. She looks on the brink of tears, but holds steady. And he leaves.

While this is going on, Paula and Juan have been talking and Juan has been doing a bunch of talking to himself, berating himself for not saying enough, saying too much, saying dumb things, the whole enchilada. But what comes out of all this is that Paula is not going back to Cesar Luis and she intends to divorce him. Juan babbles that this is a serious step, not easy...painful (shut up Juan!) but God never sends more trouble than we can handle. After the storm comes the calm, adds Paula and so it goes.

Dona Ana gets her oar in (as Nidia will do later, but in a much more dramatic fasion). Out of earshot of Paula, she thanks Juan for being her daughter's guardian angel (in boots) and lets him know she's aware that he's still in love with Paula. Then goes on to warn him that her child is not ready for a new relationship yet...she needs time to work through the divorce, get her feet back on the ground. It's a process. Juan says he understands but thought bubbles that yeah, he understands, but does he like it? no! He promises to do what's best for Paula.

Now the drama and divorce mode switches to casa Cachon. Yadira storms into Marely's room, complaining about Kike showing up anytime he damn well pleases without letting her know his whereabouts...what does he think this is, a hotel!?, hiding her own hurt under stormy anger as usual. The creepy professor Topete is hanging around outside the house like a hormonal teenager, throwing rocks at the window and finally going all modern by using his cell phone. I have to see you, he begs Yadira...if only for a minute or two. Are you crazy, she shrieks, in full Yadira mode. Topete doesn't seem to notice that his sweet student is becoming more strident with him every day. He keeps begging (gag) and she finally agrees to come down for a quickie (rapidito) meeting. After more cajoling she finally agrees to a tight-lipped peck of a kiss which is doused with a pail of water by Dona Nidia (alerted by Juanito who eavesdropped on the phone).

Now our two fiery Cachon women get down to a verbal slugfest. You have no right to interfere in my life. I'm not going to let you ruin your life and engage in a quickie adultery...not while you're living in my house. That's what mothers are for...to protect their children...and you're acting like an adolescent. Enrique arrives. The fight escalates. Yadira says she's tired of pretending and they both tell Nidia that the one thing they agree upon in their contentious relationship is that they should divorce. Nidia goes into a faint, crying that this is the worst news she's ever heard. Marely points out that there's more...and Yadira finally admits that she plans to go live with Nacho Topete (can you believe that name?!)

We get a brief respite from this with scenes of Paula with mom and Paula with Juan. In the first, Ana is cautioning that Cesar is not used to being defeated and will fight the divorce. Paula assures her she's made it clear and if he won't listen to her, he'll have to listen to her lawyer...whom she promises to contact quickly. And later, talking with Juan, she invites him to breakfast the next day, promising chilaquiles Davila, but he has to bow out, knowing he has a business meeting. As she closes the door, she smiles dreamily and wonders, What's that crazy up to now? (And as we see from the previews, she's going to find out tomorrow)

Lots more painful scenes at Casa Cachon. Nidia is begging Yadira to stay married for the sake of the little one. Her daughter downgrades Kike as mediocre and uneducated. (And Yadira is brainy!!!???, please!) Nidia reminds her a little girl doesn't need a philospher for a daddy, just someone who loves her. Don't tell me what's right and wrong, fires back Yadira, you're hardly an example! Elsewhere, Kike is pouring out his heart to our ever sympathetic Marely, explaining that Yadira always saw him as "less" and he put up with it. Accept her as she is, counters Marely. Accept her infatution with Topete!? I'm tired of trying, tired of fighting. If divorce is what she wants, so be it.

He goes into the bedroom to get his things, says a tearful farewell to little Nidia Michaela. Yadira looks miserable, drenched from the dousing and struggling between grief and anger, but alas, anger as always wins out. While Nidia and Marely try to talk Kike into staying, she tells him to go. And when he comes back to visit the baby, try and do it when she's not around! Marely just shakes her head sadly. As do we.

Poor little Juanito has gone outside to intercept Juan and tell him of the big fight inside...no, not between Nidia and Perafan this time...but between Kike and Yadira. What craziness is this, where are you going with your suitcase asks Juan. Then he and little Juanite encircle Kike, Juanito gently stroking Kike's paunch in
consolation.

And therin ends a very painful episode for most of the characters...and for us! Tomorrow it looks like more drama at Farrell.

La Traicion, Tues., March 25 -people get ready, there's a train a-coming and Hugo's aboard!

Not a lot happened in this episode - just setting things up for the birth that will probably happen tomorrow.

We pass the remaining three month of Soledad's pregnancy. (She barely looks 6 months pregnant, much less 9 months). During this time, the Mysterious Lady (ML) show gets back in business thanks to Paquito. Elena smashes Guillermo's violin and he walks out on her. He is mobbed by beautiful ladies during his performances.

Rebeca scolds Eloisa for having an affair with Paquito behind her back and Eloisa says that once she marries Arturo, she won't see Paquito again. Rebeca warns Eloisa that Arturo is a violent guy and if he finds out she is cheating on him with Paquito, he'll cut her throat.

Arturo refuses to bail Hercu-less out of prison after the tavern fiasco but Hercu-less writes an appeal to Gladis, his mother, and she defies Arturo and hires him as her coachman & companion.

Ester throws Lucas out of her bed and they behave so strangely to one another in the house that Soledad is afraid to ask what is going on.

Dr. Max sobs over a picture of his dead wife and promises that he will succeed in bringing them together again and for this he needs Soledad's baby.

Antonia apologizes to Soledad about supporting Dr. Max's decision to abort her baby. However, once she is outside Soledad's room, the evil Antonia takes over and once again she says that Soledad will suffer unless the baby is taken from her. Antonia suggests to Ester that the baby should be put up for adoption but Ester says that she would never do that to her daughter. Dr. Max overhears this conversation and he tells Antonia that he agrees with her that the baby should be taken from Soledad. The baby will probably have physical and mental problems. If they work together, they can prevent another tragedy. Dr. Max will say that the baby was born dead and Antonia will make sure that he continues as Soledad's doctor. Dr. Max promises Antonia that the baby won't be harmed. If it is a boy, he'll leave it at a seminary. If a girl, a convent. To make sure this happens, Dr. Max has run the other doctor out of town.

Meanwhile, team Hugo is travelling back to the city. Hugo tells Marina that he doesn't love Soledad any more but he has to make sure that his nephew does get buried alive during an attack of catalepsy. Before boarding the train, Hugo dreams about his mother. He tells himself that he is helping Soledad so that she doesn't suffer like his mother did (You might have thought about that before you got Soledad pregnant, Hugo.) Hugo says that he will help Soledad but he won't forgive her betrayal.

During the journey, Boris makes arrangements for a closed carriage to take Hugo to the hotel when they arrive at the capital. However, Dr. Chirac has telegraphed Dr. Max about his arrival. He tell Hugo that he can use Dr. Max's laboratories. Hugo tells Dr. Chirac that that was a mistake. Dr. Max is not trustworthy. This necesitates a change of plan. They will all go to San Marino.

Since Paquito has bribed a person at the telegraph office to give him copies of all incoming messages, he writes a story about the arrival of Dr. Chirac. Rebeca decides she wants to be photographed with him as the ML. Soledad also hears about Dr. Chirac's arrival and she impulsively decides to meet him at the train. She has a premonition that Dr. Sirac is the only one who can help her.

Guillermo takes Margot to the Hacienda and tells Elena that he wants to buy it and that he and Margot are engaged. It's not true but Elena chases them out of the place with a shotgun. Later Guillermo gets a note from Elena saying that he has made her sad and she is going to throw herself in front of a train. Guillermo goes to the tracks and diverts the train from the track where Elena is.

It turns out that there is trouble on the San Marino track and the train won't stop there. Hugo and everyone on the train will have to get off at the capital. Soledad and Ursula arrive at the train station. An employee tells her that Dr. Chirac is not an arriving passenger at that station; he's going to San Marino. Soledad is upset that all their effort was for nothing but Ursula wants to ask someone else at the Station. She goes inside and Soledad sits on a bench. Out comes Hugo cleverly disguised with little sunglasses and they look right at each other.

Tomorrow - Our worst fears are realized - Hugo wears his hair like Alcides! Oh yes and Soledad goes into labor.

Pasión 03/24/08: “Vengeance Is Mine” Sayeth Santiago and Lisabeta

In her prison cell Cami and Saintly Santi are still arguing over Ric’s fate and Saintly’s honor bound duty to report his sorry backside to the authorities for piracy on the high seas. Cami is certain Santi wants to report Ric as a means for vengeance on his part, though Saintly insists that he has to report Ric only because she was tricked into living in sin with the deceitful SOB. In the end Cami pleads for mercy from Saintly and she promises to break if off completely with Ric if Saintly will promise not to turn Ric in to the authorities after all.

Saintly who, at this point is apparently suffering from one hell of a Gawd-complex, relents and agrees to this, as long as Cami leaves Ric and sends him away, AND as long as Ric agrees to give her up. (If Saintly Santi believes for one minute that he can actually force “El Antillano”, such a ruthless, thieving, murdering pirate from Hell, to put up with this sort of self-righteous, supercilious malarkey, let alone Antillano having his ex-rival separate him permanently from his WOman this way, Santi has got to be delusional.) Cami gets up off her knees, sobbing inconsolably and Santiago, like some father doling out punishment to a child, tells her he knows that she hates him right now but she will thank him for it in time. (Am I the only one hearing fingernails scraping a chalkboard somewhere?) She can only cry and nod as he pats her shoulder and leaves her to her punishment.

At the Palace Mancera that night, Sofia and Jorge discuss the outcome of Lis’ lawsuit and Cami’s fate. Jorge says it was to be expected. (Well, if your pal Al hadn’t continually forced the hand of the judge in Lis’ favor, perhaps not so much.) Sofia says it’s just so unfair and Jorge says he had no input in the matter, that the judge handled all fairly and squarely to the letter of the law. “What a bitch that Lis is,” says Sofia. Jorge quickly agrees but insists that what’s done is done and that’s the way it is. Sofia mimics him in frustration, “That’s the way it is! That’s the way it is!” So Jorge warns her she’d better stay out of it because it…er… might be very embarrassing for Sofia to find herself being refused something by the guards or the civil authorities.

Talk turns to Uriel and Ursula’s relationship. Jorge wonders how the two are getting along. Sofia says she’s not sure, but she didn’t much care for Uriel’s spiteful gossip the other day about Ric possibly being some sort of pirate. Jorge plays the sympathetic dolt again and nods.

Across town Vasco and Ascanio are chatting in Justo’s house when Ines comes in and says that she didn’t want to tell Justo, when she was giving him his bedtime tea, about Lis’ petition to have Cami put under her care as a bail precaution. Justo appeared to be very nervous already anyway. Ascanio explains they were talking about Santi and Vasco mentions that Santi’s hatred toward Ric is personal since he cannot stand it that Cami stopped loving him for another man. Ines naively defends her brother and insists Santi is only upset that Cami has been living in sin all this time. (This and an American greenback at today’s exchange rates might just buy you a cup a coffee…..) Ascanio suggests that if Santi is so set on demonstrating his evangelism that he should remember that Christ forgave those who sent him to be martyred. (You got to love the cool head on this guy’s hunky shoulders, not to mention the apparent religious education he must have gotten from those monks that has apparently stuck.) He leaves then to tell Jimena that the two of them have no worries now of being sent back into servitude.

When Ascanio is gone Ines turns to Vasco and warns him to mend his ways or Justo will never forgive him. He asks if she has yet but she says nope. He’s still in the doghouse and that she is sleeping in Paco’s room tonight on a cot.
==========================

On La Salamandra the next morning Mario tells Ric they’ll be arriving ahead of schedule as the wind is favorable. Ric gives Mario instructions to divide up the money from Foreman, take what they owe towards Cami’s debt and then give the rest to the pirates’ families at La Iguana. Mario laments that Ric is in love again. Mario advises Ric that falling in love isn’t good because it makes them vulnerable and besides, love is painful. Ric replies, “Yes, but one doesn’t choose when, how, nor with whom.” Ric tells Mario that just because he got hurt once doesn’t mean that all women are the same, but Mario says he prefers not to take the risk. Ric wonders if Mario has children or if not, doesn’t he at least miss his family?

Mario teases him about breaking the rules of the fraternity by asking, but Ric says hey, they’ve been doing that together for years already. They’re brothers and he knows Ric’s whole life story by now. Mario answers that he doesn’t think he has any kids. Ric says he remembers Mario’s father is supposed to be a soldier in some prison…”Valladolid” but Mario insists he has no desire to see the man again. “Why, so the guy can hang me for piracy?” he laughs bitterly. “—One more reason for us to retire and change our lives,” says Ric. “—I don’t think that I could handle it,” muses Mario.

Back in San Fernando Jime and Ascanio are on their way over to the prison to visit Cami. Ascanio has told Jime that he quit his job working for Santiago due to their disagreement. Jime thinks it was foolish because Santi wouldn’t have taken it out on him, but Ascanio says that even so, it was a matter of self-respect since he disagrees with the way Santi has treated Camila. Jime scoffs at the way men are always hassling themselves with the idea of “dignity.” Just then Ursula and Uriel go galloping through the plaza. Jime asks what’s up with them now. Ascanio says he’s Ursula’s latest in husband material. Jime hopes that means she’s forgotten about Vasco and Ascanio says “God willing.”

Jime and Ascanio enter the prison cell and greet Cami with lots of hugs and kisses. Cami asks them if they know that they don’t have anything to fear about returning to servitude again, They tell her they know and that’s why they’ve come to visit her. She confesses to them then, in tears, what she had to promise Santi in order to keep him from turning Ric in to the authorities. Jime says she’s crazy if she thinks Ric will ever agree to that, but Cami insists he will if she asks him to. Jime looks at Ascanio who again cannot believe what he’s just heard come out of Cami’s mouth.

Across town at Frankenstein Mansion, Lis and Fran are packing up to leave. Mannie says she was worried Lis and her father had had an argument, but Lis says he actually approves of the idea. Once Mannie has left them Fran mentions that Mannie had bruises on her face and Lis asks if Al had beaten her perhaps. Fran covers her apparent mistake and says she doesn’t think so, that the girl probably just fell. Al comes to take them over to Cami’s former house.
After they arrive to take possession and move in, and while the servants bring in the luggage, Al tells Lis and Fran that next week they will be formally signing their marriage contract. Lis says fine, but she’s not going to have any party because she’s uncomfortable about the business with the inheritance. Al is a bit impactado to hear this and figures this would be rude considering Jorge and Sofia will be present, but stops himself short. He says they’ll discuss that later on once the papers are signed. Lis gets goosebumps as he whispers good-bye in her ear saying that he’ll be by in the evening to see her again.
=========

Ascanio visits Santi just long enough to tell him he’s quitting and that he also knows about the pact Cami made with him. He doesn’t agree with it or, with how unhappy Santi has made her just because he doesn’t like Ric and does not choose to believe Ric’s side of things. Santi says if Cami stays with Ric she won’t be just unhappy, she’ll be disgraced and her life will be in danger as well. Ascanio says true, but anyway he’s still quitting because Santi no longer trusts him over the reason he stayed quiet. It was simply because of his loyalty to Cami and because he felt he owed Ric since he had contributed in part to his hard knocks.

Back at the prison, Cami tells Justo and Ines that she’s decided to break it off with Ric and send him away for good. Justo says Ric deceive them and it’s best she does this before the whole town discovers her (and no doubt, the Dariens’) “shame.” Cami adds, though, that now she will not accept Ric’s paying off her debts. Justo is mighty impactado to hear this financially cumbersome change of events because it means she’ll be in jail for years. (Can’t have it both ways, Justo. Ric is either a very rich saint of an SIL or an SOB of a sinner.) He agrees and says the family will find some way to get the money together.

Afterwards Justo goes to the palace to discuss all that’s been happening with Sofia. Justo tells Sofia the business about Cami’s new bond arrangement with Lis. Sofia commiserates and says that she already knew about it, but that according to Jorge it was all done according to the law and that they cannot is intervene on her behalf. She recommends being patient and waiting for Ric to return home. Ric will certainly buy her back from Lis and give her her freedom, so, problem solved. Justo just grunts and, it seems, doesn’t dare tell her what he knows about Ric’s true identity nor that he doubts any of this will take place, considering.

Outside the jail a few of the guards take Cami hand-tied over to what is now Lis’s house. Justo comes out of the palace at the same time and walks over towards his daughter, but the captain of the guard prevents him from accompanying her to the house because now that she’s a servant he says she does not have the right to even speak if she’s not authorized too. (That makes her less in rank socially than even that sad, saucy gossip, Clothilde!!)

The townsfolk are incensed to see Justo and his daughter being treated this way and start throwing things at the guards. Justo screams back at the captain of the guard through the noise that he’s still a free man and can walk through the streets anywhere he chooses to and nobody can stop him! Then he yells in Cami’s ear that he just spoke with Doña Sofia but she has said that nothing else can be done for her. There’s a great tug of war between the guards and Justo over Cami. The captain screams at Justo and the crowd that this is the law and he’s only following orders, so if any of them continue to interfere he will put them in jail.

Meanwhile, El Chino and La Paisana come out from the inn and watch with their mouths open as Cami is being dragged through town to Lis’ and are disgusted at the way she’s being treated. The two agree that Paisana should go to Antillano’s house to get someone there to get word to El Antiano and tell him what has happened to Cami.

The guard drops her off inside the courtyard of Cami’s house and Clothilde is there to take charge of her. The captain says he’s putting a guard out front to make sure she doesn’t escape and suggests they take measures inside to do the same. Clothilde takes a cruel delight in telling Cami that Lis has put her in charge of Cami and in short she’ll be working from sunup to sundown. She tells Camil she’ll have to change into dowdy duds and will also have to sleep in the storeroom since she and Candida share the only other bedroom.

Cami insists that Clothilde is not to address her informally (“tutear”) because she always treated Cloe with respect and now demands that she do the same with her. Cloe reluctantly agrees, then Cami adds angrily that she prefers the storeroom and not to bother showing her the way as she certainly has not forgotten that she used to own the place and stomps off to get cleaned up.

El Chino visits Jorge at the palace and they discuss their business arrangements. El Chino tells him he’s got to get back to the hideout to get his merchandise ready for transporting into San Fernando. Jorge takes the opportunity to grumble about his friends all leaving him alone these days while they have developed various new relationships and marital obligations. Time was he says when they all used to get together there in the palace or the local whorehouse and party hardy but no more.

El Chino asks about his family and Jorge tells him he has a family including a bastard son who is the local blacksmith but who, because of certain “problems” in the past, refuses to accept his formal recognition. El Chino seemingly notes that Jorge has a family in name only and Jorge doesn’t seem to take any comfort or pleasure in it. Jorge mentions then that his son is lame from a former injury. El Chino tells Jorge that in his culture there are people who can cure the lame with needles (acupuncture). He describes the method to Jorge who then tells El Chino that if he brings him someone who can cure his son he will pay him anything he asks. El Chino agrees.

At Ric’s, JImena, Pablo and La Paisana discuss Antillano’s need to be warned that his true identity has been discovered, and that even if Santiago has promised not to say anything, he will need to know what has happened there in San Fernando so he can be prepared. Pablo agrees to go warn him since he knows where and when La Salamandra will be pulling in to shore.
On La Salamandra at the same time Ric and Mario discuss the best place to land; Ric figures they’ll save a day or so by putting the money into smaller chests which are lighter and will allow them to travel cross country more quickly on horseback rather than in a caravan.

At Justo’s GRita and Ines discuss the money situation with him. GRita says once Cami’s husband gets back he’ll have the money and things will get paid off. Then Justo lets the cat out of the bag unwittingly and says, yes, but his wonderful son-in-law now turns out to be a pirate. Ines is dumbfounded he should mention this in front of GRita and tries to make a quick save by saying they aren’t sure of that; but Justo seems puzzled and answers her. “--but your brother found out already! When GRita hears this she blows a gasket because Santi never said word one to her about it. (As if!)

Across the yard Santi is watching the excited chatter from his forge when Chip and Dale walk up and want to know what’s been going on around there recently and why Santi doesn’t trust them enough to let them in on things anymore. They explain that they know Camila and Ric have both been in prison and they just saw her tied up and being dragged to her house but now as the blind lady’s servant. Then they ask why Ascanio didn’t bother to come in to work today either. Santi tells them that he had a falling out with Ascanio and he quit then gives a quick rundown about Cami’s inheritance problems and walks off. They know he’s still not telling them everything.

Now Santi can’t stand it any longer and walks in on the discussion on his front lawn. GRita comes at him complaining that Cami now refuses to have Ric pay off her debts and there’s no way they are going to do it either. Ines explains to him that since Cami made the pact with him to leave Ric she logically didn’t want him stuck paying off her debts. GRita starts in again that she refuses to have Santi sell his forge or her father to be forced to sell off his mill all because of Cami and her being such a fool. Santi knows he’s stepped in it now and yells back defensively that there will be some solution and he’ll find it. He stomps off leaving the rest of them looking forlornly at one another while GRita harrumphs and snorts in disgust.
===========

Lis sends for Cami and tries to shoo Fran out to speak with Cami alone. Fran refuses and tells her to stop treating her like one of her maids. Cami comes in. Lis tries to play the benevolent mistress and tells Cami with feigned sweetness that she is sooo sorry that she is there and in this situation now. Lis asks her if she knows what her duties are, but Cami doesn’t buy the sweetness and light act. They argue. Cami answers back that of course she does since Lis obviously remembers how she was her father’s servant at one time. Lis laughs at this and says that Cami was never her father’s servant because from the first day he had ordered her put into one of her mother’s best dresses. Cami bewitched her father just like she’s done with Ricardo.

Cami snickers at this and asks if Lis really believes she uses spells on people, because otherwise she’d have already zapped Lis into a toad (now, that I’d like to see!) and run out the door laughing merrily, but that isn’t the way things are, are they? Lis laughs at her condescendingly and says Cami knows what she is referring to: the way she whored her way into the inheritance and then did the same with Ric. Cami yells that she is not a whore and is tired of arguing over what they both know for a fact: that if her father gave her his money he did it of his own accord and if it weren’t her it would have been some other woman.

Lis spits back at Cami that she’s going to get even with her but not for the matter of the inheritance at all, but for taking Ric away from her. “He was mine!” Lis tells her. Now it’s Cami’s turn to snicker. “Who says? Did you dream it? Was it your imagination or what?” Cami tells her that if Ric had been the least bit interested in LIs he’d have made his move toward her a long time ago. As it was, he preferred herself to blind as a batty Lis. Lis sneers and tells her that in the end all she ever was to Ric was a mistress.

Cami sees her opportunity to possibly bargain with Lis and takes advantage of it. She offers to leave Ric definitively if in exchange loony Lis forgives the rest of the debt. “If he and I separate he shouldn’t have to repay the debt, and neither should my family, not that even if they sold all they have, could they ever come up with that amount (All things considered, I wouldn’t trust LIs as far as I could throw her at this point.) Fran objects loudly. “No way! That’s a small fortune!” “—A favor for a favor, Lisabeta,” Cami taunts and pushes her advantage.” Lis doesn’t think twice and accepts the deal. Fran objects again but Lis turns to her aunt. “I said I agree!”

Smiling to herself, Cami goes back out to her room. On the way she asks Candida to get her a pen and paper so she can write a note to her father. Candida is happy to help out.

Inside in the living room Fran tells Lis she’s dreaming if she thinks that Cami, much less Ric, will ever abide by this agreement. “Besides,” she asks, “what does your cousin matter to you now if you’re getting married to LaFont?” Lis says at least he should be left with some of the inheritance from her father. Fran says she’s certain Lis has something in mind, but whatever it is she has a strange feeling that things are going to turn out badly for Lis in the end. Lis just sits there smiling to herself lost in her own world.
=================

Back at the inn El Chino and La Paisana worry about where Ric might hold up. El Chino says he’s a big boy and can take care of himself; he’s too smart to let himself get caught. Chino mentions then that he’s got to get back to the hideout and arrange for the transfer of the merchandise so he’ll be gone for a day or so. He tells La Paisana that he’s also going to arrange for another oriental, a healer, to come try to cure Jorge’s bastard son, the blacksmith’s, limp.

La Paisana says she’s going to stay on there, partly because of Pablo, but also because she wants to be there in case Antillano might need her help. Since he has always treated Pablo decently she figures that if he gets in a bind she can kidnap either Jorge’s wife or his daughter and barter with Jorge if need be. El Chino says it’s a nice idea, but with people like them diplomacy works better than trying to force them into doing something.
=============

At Santi’s Ofelia reminds her son that Justo wants to avoid anymore scandals so no reason to turn Ric into the authorities. GRita asks him why he can’t just let Cami leave with Ric and be done with it. He says because they are not married. She asks him if that is the real reason or is it he figures with Ric gone he’s free to try to make Cami his mistress. Santi forbids GRita to mention her again, let alone insult her like that.

Ofelia loses her patience now and tells them to stop the constant bickering back and forth. GRita asks why in the world they can’t just let Cami follow her husband, or whatever he is, and let her be. Santi explains that if she’s caught during one of the pirate raids with him then she ends up being accused and punished right along with him. GRita agrees that she doesn’t want that kind of thing happening to Cami and shuts up.

Justo and Vasco offer Ascanio a job working in the mil and he accepts in exchange for no more than his room and board. Justo is still upset though at the thought that Ric, as good as he’s been to them, should go off with Cami to a life like that. Ines says they shouldn’t give up and they can still hope for a miracle of some kind.
==================

That night Cami writes a note to her father telling him about her agreement with Lis to forgive her debt if she leaves Ric for good. She worries then how she will tell Ric about this and what she should say to convince him to leave her. At the same time Ric is thinking inside his cabin whether he should forget about winning his pardon from The Crown and run off with Cami to some foreign shore. Then he decides that what he really wants is to get his good name back so that she and his children will have it and whatever rightfully belongs to them. Cami deserves that much from him.
At the palace Jorge is bored and goes to visit Sofia in her bedroom for a nighttime chat.

Ursula is apparently receiving male visitors in her room again. This time it is Uriel, who admits he’s not used to visiting women in their rooms by coming in through the entrance to the garbage dump. Ursula giggles and greets him in her fancy skivvies. He tells her that if her daddy finds out he’ll kill him. Of course she says Daddy won’t be finding out. Uriel begins by taking off his jacket, but he is not exactly prepared for Ursula’s forward and rather loose personality, but he eventually takes it all in stride. He mentions that Al and Lis will be marrying the same time they do. Ursula laughs and says she doesn’t think Al will be that lucky since Lis, hypocrite that she is, still has a thing for Ric.

Jorge comments to Sofia that he is going to try to ingratiate himself with Santi by bringing in a healer who might cure his limp. She says that it would be better if he does what Santi is asking him and announces publically that he never actually “deflowered” Camila. Jorge, out of pride, refuses to do so. “No way, woman, am I going to humiliate myself telling folks I couldn’t get it up!”

In Ursula’s bedroom Uriel is getting more and more comfortable and wearing fewer and fewer bits of his clothes. She teases him into taking his shirt off and modeling his pecks for her. Eventually she and the Uriel get started doing the nasty with him with that crazy goatee and Dali hairdo looking like the mythical goat-man, Pan.
==================

The next morning Clothilde refuses to let Justo and Jimena in to speak to Lis and Fran and spitefully slams the door in their faces. The guard tells them also that Cami is not allowed to have any visitors whatsoever. Justo goes over to tell Sofia what just happened. Sofia says she is going over to Lis’ herself to see what’s going on.

Ric lands with some of his men and they go on horseback with the small chests of money.

Sofia arrives and Clothilde apologizes for not knowing apparently that it was Sofia at the door this time. Sofia gets angry when she sees Cami scrubbing the walkway on her hands and knees and says she never did this while living at home let alone having to do this in a stranger’s home. She promises to take the note Cami wrote to her father and deliver it to him and promises to try to correct a few things while they wait for Ric’s return.

About four hours out from San Fernando Ric and Mario run into El Chino on the road. Ric finds out through El Chino that they have now discovered who he is in San Fernando. Ric asks who exactly and Chino says that at least his wife’s entire family knows his true identity. He says that La Paisana also had sent a message to warn him of this and to tell him that Cami is in under guard in Lis’ house. Ric gets angry when he hears this since Lis promised him to let her stay at her father’s. He races on towards San Fernando with his men and the money.

Sofia, Fran and Lis are in the living room. Lis categorically refuses to sell Cami to Sofia, making the excuse that she agreed on selling her to Ric alone. Sofia doesn’t swallow that story either and accuses Lis of trying to take out her vengeance on Cami for something that wasn’t her fault. Lis claims Cami was at fault for driving her father to do what he did. Sofia disagrees and says it is apparent that her father was some sort of old pervert after young girls. If he chose to leave Cami his money it was by choice.

Lis politely answers maybe so, but she is not selling Cami to anybody but Ric and that is her final word. Sofia says let’s see if he doesn’t spit in your face when he returns and finds out the way you’ve been treating her. Sofia finds her own way out and leaves Lis standing there with the fake smile still plastered on her face.

Fran tells Lis that she’s made a powerful enemy now out of Sofia and warns her that sooner or later Sofia is going to get back at her. Lis says, sweet as sugar, that she won’t give Sofia that pleasure. Fran asks her just what she has in mind and exactly what she means by that.

Yo Amo a Juan, Mon. Mar.24 So Many Deals in the Works

I feel humbled to be following Maricruz' magnificent Friday recap and culture lesson but just glad that I can be helping push the story along as we all must do. Taping screwup makes this an event partly from memory.

Marely has been called into Cesar Luis' office assuming he wants some project done or call made but he assures her it is nothing to do with work. He probes Marely for what she knows of Paula and what she may have said to Marely about him. Having exploded with such uncontrolled fury, he portrays the wistfully altered, not too sympathetic but somewhat pathetic husband that everyone is aware of and not entirely comfortable that he won't let go again.

Juan, Angarita and Heriberto who are in the conversation so well explained by Maricruz and Juan pushes Heriberto to call his father to get mortgage funds to make the purchase of Monica's interest in Farell possible. Angarita to demonstrate his cautious attitude for money is more worried about who will pay for the long distance call. Juan steps up to assure that he will pay, just make the call already.

Laura and Monica discuss Juan and Laura's instant full blown plan to remake this good basic man with haircut and Italian shoes. Laura seems newly animated with her plans to get him. Monica tries to explain that Paula will be a weighty rival not an easy enemy.

Heriberto is involved with Dad and Angarita is losing patience after a half hour long distance call, Juan insists he will pay for it. The deal slowly chugs forward.

Cesar Luis is still prying and pleading with Marely but she doesn't want to divulge confidences. He continues pulling on her to tell what Paula has said about him or their relationship but Marely hods firm that he really needs to talk to Paula directly. He whines that he can't reach her she isn't answering phones but Marely insists she is at Ana's house.

Back at the fruit market [Editor is sorry for cheap shot but cuteness has it's own power] Heriberto is spotted by approaching Gaitan who gushes about having seen Heriberto a few days before at the restaurant. Heriberto seems surprised and not sure if he remembers Gaitan. Anga mentions that Heriberto is none other than Juan Dominguez' personal assistant and Heriberto nearly shakes Gaitan's hand off in his pride at this acknowledgement.

At the airport in Miami Ana is saying a good bye to he new companion (played by Marco Muñoz) as she worries about getting back to her daughter in her plight at the expense of ruining her own new promising future in the art world. He tries to give her a tender kiss on the lips as he says call him about anything if he can help. She deftly turns her head at the last second so he lands it on her cheek.

Juan is on the phone as Anga complains, he tries to pass off the call to Juanito but Anga realizes it is a call to Paula. Juan says he realizes Paula is impulsive and perhaps she will go back to her husband, but the wise Anga who has taken an interest in promoting this relationship says CL has crossed a line that she cannot forgive.

And to punctuate this statement we see a speechless scene of CL at Ana's gate with Paula peering at him from behind curtains. He rings the bell repeatedly in staccato stalker fashion. He finally drives off in his convertible.

Juan is having a deja vu moment thought bubbling that he recognizes that Gaitan is being swept off his feet by Heriberto (habia flechado / also pierced by cupid's arrow). Juan swings into frantic motion to get Heriberto out of the market. They have so many things to do. Gaitan drawls that he will have them come for dinner (cena) and will cook something delicious. Juan can't hustle them out of the market fast enough, he insists that he has to spend quality time with Juanito and yes, Heriberto has to come with him and yes, it's gotta be right now. Shortly afterward, Heriberto is in the back seat of a cab with Juan quickly dumping a disappointed Heri back at his hotel who finally realized he is being dumped off, and the friendly Gaitan who invited him for a beer isn't going to show up and Juan is not taking him with him to see Juanito.

Yadira asks Marely how things went at the office and if Fernando is a problem. Marely is trying to forget that Fer exists. They discuss Juan and Yadi insists that Paula will make a move to end up with Juan. Marely believes Paula is too devastated to think about any relationship but, wise in the ways of love and lust Yadira, smirks that Marely just takes information in one ear and out the other.

After the break, Paula tells Juan she is afraid of CL, he was outside of the house but she didn't open the door. He mentions that he tried to get a hold of her all afternoon but the phone was tied up. She admits that she wouldn't answer. She insists that tomorrow she will talk to CL and make things clear with him. Juan thought bubbles that he would like to say more but is a coward. She asks how things went with Angarita, he says fine.

Angarita is slurping his soup (sorber) in loud satisfied inhalings which is obviously irritating Gaitan's more sensitive nature, it's ugly and the conversation immediately becomes ugly as the real problem to the last tuft (copete) is actually Anga's irritation with the ridiculous spectacle Gaitan made over Heriberto with his peacock feather display. Gaitan defensively admits his show and sassily asks if Anga has a problem with it.
Paula cries while she combs her long lovely wet black hair.

Back to Angarita and Gaitan who are prickly as two old hens with each other. Gaitan challenges Anga that when he invited him to move in, he knew very well who he was. Now Anga seems to want him to correct his faults (enderezar). Gaitan brags that he is very happy with who he is. Well, Anga is not a bit happy with it and suddenly they are flinging threats of moving out and right now!! Yes, fast, now...

Juan thought bubbles about Paula's plan to make things clear with CL tomorrow while riding in the cab. Shortly after he pops into the bedroom where Marely is reading Juanito a bedtime story. He apologizes for missing dinner. Marely tries to get out of the room citing all the many things she has to do, Juanito lobbies for and end to the story which Marely tells Juan he can do nicely. He calls her the cream of actresses (comediante nata). Juanito talks about how much he prefers Marely and loves her perhaps as much as he loves his dad. Changing the subject, Juan asks for any news, Juanito pops off the pillow to announce that Perafan has returned, Nidia is really irritated but the police didn't come. Then the deadly conversation that has been coming: tomorrow instead of going to work with papa, Juanito is going to school. NOOOOO school! Yesssss school. We'll go to find Professor Pomposo.

Anga and Gaitan part company while tossing epithets at each other like so many pebbles. Anga calls Gaitan a maraca player (maraquito) not being either decent or a man, and Gaitan counters with calling Anga a prehistoric, a caveman who will end up a bitter old man in his solitude.

Paula calls CL and says she wants to talk to him tomorrow, he of course wants to have all his grievances, loneliness and needs heard right now but she insists that tomorrow is when that will happen.

Juan tries to tell Nidia it his only humane and a good citizen to do all he can to help Paula. Nidia counters with these duties actually belonging to her husband. Juan can't leave her alone in the big house with CL menacing nearby, but Nidia knows that Ana is on a plane on the way home to be with Paula. Shortly later Paula hears scary noises and throws a soft pillow at the intruder at the door but it is Ana home to comfort and console her daughter about the loss of the baby and give her a big Mommy hug. sigh, it's always good when Mom gets home...

Kike and Juan are discussing separations. Kike says Yadira wants to hurry with their divorce but it isn't always so easy. Juan thinks the CL/Paula separation will be just like this but Kike warns him that it is different. He and Yadira really loved each other once but can't get along. CL's behavior has gotten him a yellow card (soccer warning, two yellows lead to a red which mean expulsion from the game) But Kike is trying to warn Juan that this is not necessarily the end for Cl and Paula, she may return to him yet. [Oh I love it when guys compare love relationships to soccer games, but it actually works here.] Juan smiles to himself that CL will be knocked down a peg when he learns what all is happening.

Paula expresses regrets that Ana had to leave the exhibition and perhaps hurt her chances of promoting her art, but Ana is clear that she wanted to be with her daughter. She lost a piece of herself too through Paula's loss. Paula is sure the baby didn't want to come into such an unhappy family life but Ana again assures her that's not how it works. She councils her not to blame herself and later she can find peace and choose a life of love and a new being will come to her like Paula came into her life.

Paula and Juan coo into the phone to each other. Mommy is home and cooking something for dinner but Paula will miss the caldo Dominguez. She sends kisses to Juanito. Juan says hasta al ratón [Ed note: cute but does until the rat, mean anything to you, Maricruz?]

Professor Pomposo is grinning outside the school at Juanito who is stiff in fear and full of resistance to the notion of going inside to school. Juan and Pomposo leave him no out, his doom is sealed.

Early in the office, Gaitan and Ivonne share confidences of his removal to a hotel and her still moping over Fernando who is still moping over Marely and his spoiled plans. She still cares for Fern, but Gaitan steals the rest of the scene with his swoon over the super galán who is Juan's new assistant.

Monica is smartly at home checking with Marely at the office to find out that CL is a veritable panther. She hopes Juan can convince his business partner to go ahead with her offer so she can get out of here now.

Kike and Juan are in the truck surmising that CL will be crazy and jealous there will be a hammer with nails falling from heaven. Kike gets wind that something more than Paula is afoot. Juan finally slips that he promised Miss Monica . Kike seizes on ... MONICA?? Juan who is never great at secrets lets out that Monica has offered to sell him her shares in the company

Ana chastises CL for his actions. When CL admits that it was not his finest moment, she says no indeed it was his WORST. He protests that he suffered greatly too, he wanted this child more than anything.

Poor Juanito is in front of the classroom full of uniformed students/judges and when they hear the name Achichipico, they laugh with derision at the miserable tyke.

Kike, juan and Angarita discuss Monica's offer. Anga is full of doubts of what he wants to do with HIS money.

Cesar Luis fumes while Paula tells him that nothing he can say now will change what has already happened between them. She doesn't want to talk or hear more, in fact she wants a legal separation.

Back to the big business deal. Angarita expresses his reluctance and fears about what is behind this deal that he can't see, there are no brakes on this coming at him. Juan assures him that he doesn't have to do much, he just should see it as an investment. Anga continues that he is not about to mortgage all his properties for this. Juan is so sure it will work, but Anga brings it home: Juan can risk his shares in this company if he wants to pursue this acquisition.

Paula and CL get one last struggle in. CL is sure that he has been justified in being crazy and jealous, they have laughed behind his back. Basically, it was his anger talking not him. [The old you made me do this beastly thing argument]. the scene trails off with them continuing to struggle that he wants to save the marriage and she, well she doesn't. Then the mad gleam of jealousy flares again and he accuses her that Juan has to do with this decision of Paula's. Paula's glaring back at him speaks volumes of what she thinks about being thought incapable of deciding this herself. [Ed. thought that last thought but I am right I bet] FIN

Guapos: Monday 3/24/2008- "The Great Galán Debate"

Al and Hugo return home from their forray to the hospital and come across Connie and Andrea talking in the foyer. Al is very angry and accuses Andrea of lying about being pregnant and faking her miscarriage. Andrea insists that she can explain and Hugo makes an exit before he gets dragged in even further. Al lights into his father and asks him if he’s got anything to say. Connie asks what it is exactly that Al wants him to say. Al is upset that his father is in cahoots with this liar. Connie pretty much says that all women lie. Al insists that isn’t true, his mommy wouldn’t lie. Connie jumps on that and says why don’t you ask her about how she lied when before you were born, when she was pregnant with you. Meanwhile, Andrea is hanging in the background as the two men argue, probably hoping that Al will be distracted enough by his father to forget all about her evil deeds---fat chance! Al insists that his father tell him all about the lies his mother told. Connie says nope and walks away. Al turns back to Andrea and demands to what type of person she is. How could she fake a pregnancy and then a miscarriage. She claims it is because she loves him. He’s not falling for it. He rants on about how she even made him think that Mili was at fault and she had absolutely nothing to do with it. Now he knows he’s got to go beg Mili for forgiveness. Andrea pleads with him, he’s got to understand.

Luci’s in bed, crying her eyes out to Damien. She tells her brother that she’d be lost without her children, they are her only source of strength. She’s a fickle woman, having forgotten about her old friend the bottle…..

It is a blue uniform day and the downstairs group is breakfasting and wondering where oh where Karla could be.

She’s at the airport, getting a harsh lesson in the need of a passport in order to travel to the US. The airline clerk suggests she find a destination within Mexico. She decides for Cancun.

Back at the mansion, Damien has discovered her note and that she took the loot. He starts asking the servants where Karla might be. Lina tells him they don’t know. Connie approaches Damien whilst he’s searching for Karla. He wants info on the ransom money for Snotty Spice. Damien says he’ll get it and that he would even make the payment drop. Connie agrees (why oh why does Connie continue to trust Damien with this kind of stuff?).

Hugo and Mili wander the gardens and Hugo confesses his love, once again. He asks Mili to agree to become his wife. She hesitates in answering. He says he knows that he feels more for her than she does for him, but he’s OK with it because he knows in time she’ll learn to love him more. Meanwhile, he’ll care enough for the both of them. I have to interject and say it just feels creepy to me. Mili tells Hugo that she cares for him, but……He says just as a friend, you’re still thinking of my primo. Mili doesn’t like to be reminded of Al, so she says that she needs time to think about it, to mull over the idea. Hugo says he’ll give her a day.

Damien scours the airport and finds Karla reading. She tries to talk her way out of taking the money. While they are engaged in conversation, another man sits down on the other side of Karla and gets up after a few seconds, with her carryon in his hands. Damien demands to know where the money is and Karla says right here in my bag---They realize the bag has been taken!!! Karla freaks out and Damien subdues her, he doesn’t want to draw any attention.

Connie heads upstairs and finds Luci in bed with her bottle. He’s upset that the first thing his daughter might see when released from the kidnappers is her mother drunk. Luci wants to call the police, but in the middle of this conversation, Snotty returns home, no worse for the wear. A group hug is given. Connie tries to get some details about the kidnappers, but Val swears they had her blindfolded and she saw nothing.

Mili tells Regina about Hugo’s proposal. Regina tells Mili to be careful and reminds her that she’s really in love with Al. She warns Mili that she could end up hurting Hugo badly. Mili swears that Al is in the past and that she’s leaving it behind her.

Snotty assures Slushy that nothing happened while she was kidnapped (makes me think something a la the “Ransom of Red Chief” by O. Henry. Perhaps Snotty was so bad, the kidnappers were willing to pay to get rid of her---or at least it seems like they let her go without getting the ransom). Snotty asks Slushy to promise not to drink. Al comes downstairs and finds his mother and sister in the middle of another hug-fest. He gets hugs from Snotty and she starts to tell him what happened when Connie stops her. He pulls Snotty aside and tells her it is best forgotten and not mentioned to anyone else. While this little side conversation is taking place, Al pulls his mom aside and tells her they need to talk. Luci and Al leave. After they’ve gone, the doorbell rings and enter Pilar. One of Val’s friends, who just returned to Mexico after living in Spain for three years.

Al fills Luci in on the whole Andrea fake pregnancy thing. He then mentions Connie telling him all women are deceitful and that Luci lied. He wants to know what happened when Luci was preggers. She weaves a story about how a similar thing happened back in the day, she lied to Connie and told him she was expecting. He found out she wasn’t telling the truth and he left her in Paris and went back to Mexico. After he’d gone, she found out she really was pregnant and they ended up getting married before Al was born. Al remembers parts of this story from a conversation he had with Regina. He wants to know why she lied in the first place and Luci says she was afraid that he would abandon her. Luci then says that Andrea must have had the same motive, poor baby, she was afraid of losing you. Al seems disgusted with his mother siding with Andrea. He says, well she lost me anyway and leaves the room.

In the dorm room, Mili is filling Gloria and Lina in on Hugo’s proposal. Lina is on team Hugo. Gloria, on the other hand, opts for following the heart, so she’s on team Al. Lina actually makes a stronger case, but I think that’s because she doesn’t stop talking so Gloria didn’t have a chance for rebuttal. Lina says that Mili shouldn’t suffer for someone who’s not worth it in the first place.

Pilar and Val catch up. We find out that Pilar’s parents are divorced. She was living with her mom and step-dad in Barcelona, but now she’s returned to Mexico to be with her father. We also find out that Pilar still has the hots for Al (we knew that from the previews for today’s episode, but Val obviously didn’t watch them, so Pilar needed to fill her in).

Damien returns home and finds out that Val’s been released. He whines to Connie that a phone call would have been nice. Connie says that he’ll never forgive Damien for taking advantage of the situation, and manipulating the return of his stock shares (ya’ think a little bit of the pot calling the kettle black ?). Oh well, Connie decides the one thing has nothing to do with the other and the two men share a toast to Snotty’s return.

Bobby thinks he’s a genius because he figured out that Andrea was lying about expecting a baby. Al anguishes over the possibility of Mili forgiving him for not believing her. Al decides that he’ll need his abuela’s help in convincing Mili to forgive him. Pilar and Val interrupt this conversation. Al is surprised to see Pilar back. Val manages to get Bobby to leave, giving Pilar a chance to make a move on Al.

Down in the kitchen, Andrea confronts Mili, and she caresses the knife block during this conversation---scary!! Mili gives attitude right back at the Skank. She says that one day Al will know the truth about what a liar Andrea is. The Skank says he already knows, but she’s not going to sit around with her arms crossed. She intends to win Al back. Mili is excited to find out that Al knows the truth. She rushes out of the kitchen to go find him, she’s sure he’ll apologize.

Pilar tells Al that he doesn’t know how much she missed him. Al is surprised. Pilar says a girl never forgets her first time. She goes in for a kiss. Mili’s got bad timing, because this is the point where she enters the room. She sees the kiss and leaves before she can see Al push Pilar away. He tells her that he doesn’t feel it, in fact he’s hopelessly in love with another girl. Pilar says what a pity.

Mili runs to Hugo’s room, crying. She tells him that she came to say yes to his proposal (stupid girl!!). He’s just crazy enough to not be bothered by her crying. She’s made him the happiest man in the universe. After that little jump for joy the other part of his brain kicks in and he notices that Mili isn’t exactly ecstatic about the whole thing. She tells him to give her some time. He starts making plans. They’ll have a dinner the next night and tell everyone in the family. Mili says she’d like to tell Regina first. Hugo says she’ll have to quit her job, Mili doesn’t like this idea. Hugo goes in for a kiss, but Mili turns and it is a very chaste kiss.

Bobby and Val walk outside. He’s happy that she wanted to talk to him. She lets him know that she pulled him away from Al so Pilar and Al could be alone. Bobby is crushed. Morky sees Snotty’s returned and he runs up to her and proclaims he’s glad she’s alive. He grabs her and gives her a kiss. Bobby ends up splitting the two of them up, and Val looks sorta confused about what just happened. Val takes off and Bobby and Morky argue over who’s the best suited for Snotty.

Connie questions Karla about Damien. Did she give him info that helped Damien get his shares of the business back from Connie. Karla swears she hasn’t talked to Damien in days. Oh well, Connie says, surely she knows that he’s no longer going to be giving her any money.

Mili fills Gloria and Lina in on finding Al kissing another girl. Typical outraged reactions from Team Hugo and Team Alejandro really has no response---just shock. Karla comes into the room crying because her gravy train is gone.

Al fills Regina in on Andrea’s treachery. Regina is upset. Al says that he’s worried that Mili won’t forgive him, so he needs Regina’s help. Braulio interrupts them and mentions that Hugo and Mili are together. Al gets jealous at the news.

Damien meets up with the man from the airport. He gets the bag of money back. He’s happy because he’s got the money, his company shares, and a large check from Connie.

Regina has Brau pack Andrea’s bags and in front of the whole family, she kicks the Skank to the curb. Andrea begs her madrina to listen. Regina tells her to never call her madrina again. Val and Luci light into Andrea as well. The Skank turns to Connie for some help and he tells her she’s fired. Al, showing some spine, tells his mother and sister that they are hypocrites---they were all for Andrea before and so quick to blame Mili.

Mili hangs out with Hugo in his room, painting. He starts making moves and Mili is obviously uncomfortable, but crazy Hugo doesn’t pick up or refuses to pick up on her non-verbal clues. Mili leaves, but first has to promise Hugo that she’ll talk to Regina first thing.

Lina and Gloria fill the downstairs group in on all the latest happenings---Hugo and Mili’s engagement. They all get a little slap happy and start doing imitations of the upstairs group. Socorrito does a drunken Luci, Gloria does a terrific Snotty (Rocky thinks she’s too harsh), Horacio nails Damien’s stammering, Lina attempts to do Regina, and Rocky does a pretty good job with Connie’s voice. Karla walks in on the silliness, and ever the buzz kill, tells them they are all loco.

Luci scolds Connie for putting his lover above his son. Connie says, son? Same old crap, no new information.

Braulio tells Hugo about Andrea’s bags being packed and Regina kicking her out. Hugo’s a little concerned that Andrea might have ratted him out, so he tries to feel Brau out for any info. Brau says that Andrea got fired, and Hugo says she’ll find work. Unable to keep his joy to himself, Hugo blurts out to Braulio that Mili agreed to marry him. Braulio is shocked. END OF EPISODE.
