La Fea Más Bella #216 2/21/07 A Brand New Day, Unibomber sighted in the DF, Aldo conquers his final foe Don E

Don Fer is here outside. He wonders if he’s crazy because Julieta or someone else might call the police and he’ll spend the whole night down at the station so he better go. Lety looks again and he’s gone. She’s not sure if it was a dream or real. She asks Moty if he saw. He’s not tellin’

OK IT LOOKS LIKE IT’S A NEW DAY FINALLY!!!!! YIPPPEEEEEE!!!!

Aldo is walking in jogging clothes in the park recalling his and Lety’s kiss in the ocean and hoping he’s get to hold her again. Enter the pastel Unibomber. Now here’s an improvement over the wardrobe that lasted two weeks. L She apologizes for being late and tells him she saw Fer outside her window and begs him to help he forget. Lety starts running like loco. Aldo stops her and wonders what is the problem he tells her she has to just get him out of her head. He not the man you thought he was. If you don’t you’ll never get over this pain. She thanks him for his compassion. He almost mocks her and asks her if she thinks he’s doing this because of compassion and she says of course, you are always so compassionate with me and then Lety decides to invite Aldo back to her house for breakfast.

He says ok, but wait, he lost what he was carrying for her and he freaks out looking for it. Lety discourages him from looking any further because they eat at a specific time and her Dad will be mad if she doesn’t show up on time. He wants to look, she wants to go. Look...go…look…go…go. He proclaims that is what signified his love for her so he has to find it. Alas, he doesn’t. Is this a sign?

At Conceptos a new day has dawned finally. But Celso who seems to work 24/7 is sleeping at reception with Sanson. Can you blame him? Fer asks Sanson to wake him up. Fern startles him. They exchanged words about how secure the building is from his vigilance. Fer tells the dog to take care, and for them not to fall asleep on their jobs.

Fer then goes into Lety’s office he makes fun of her Caracolon Erotica and her “Zen” garden.

Back at the house, Juli is excited to see Aldo again and Aldo is getting excited to eat Julieta’s cooking. He picks some smells out of the air and says they smell like the flavor of life. He is enchanted with the house and family. Juli is flattered but lets Lety know they might have a problem named Robopop. He was already mad that she went running so early by herself and he surely won’t be happy to meet Aldo. Sure enough he waltzes in wondering where the woman of dawn went and gives Aldo the thrice over. He wants to know who this man is.

Fer, still in Lety’s office, calls Omar who is still sleeping and says he’s crazy for being in the president’s office at this hour and besides remember he’s not the president anymore. Fer asks him why Aldo gave her a Caracolon and Omar says let me guess, he couldn’t find a seahorse. Omar wants to know why he’s there this early and he says he couldn’t sleep all night and I wanted to leave before Marci woke up because he can’t stand being with her and in her room etc. [Why won’t he just leave her alone then!!!!!!!!!!]

Fer tells Omar that Aldo went out with Oxi. Omar is impactado. Fer says it’s in bad taste to paint shells and that he saw Aldo leave in a taxi with Alibubis. Omar says he told him so but Fer never believes that he has the mouth of a prophet. Ok kids, remember to add that to his short list of attributes. He says, poor Aldo, because he doesn’t know what he’s getting into with her. Fer says he can’t stand this jealousy and he’s annoyed and asphyxiated with it. Omar tells him he better get over it because they need to go to the restaurant association and he needs to be bright eyed and bushy tailed etc.

Back at Casa Padilla Erasmo begins his interrogation, for one, because it’s not proper visiting hours that early. Julieta introduces him and Aldo manages to charm Don Erasmo as well by breaking out that existential stuff. He asks Robo when was the last time he watched the dawn. Aldo says if it only came once a year every human being would set his or her alarms to get up to see it. Robo reminds him that essentially Lety was raised with family values.

Tomas is walking and muttering to himself recalling seeing Ali with Aldo and he kicks a can to the crazy gods and it doesn’t come down for a bit.

Fer walks over to deface the painting with what looks like a green pen. He seems to draw all over it, but I think he was pretending. Instead he gets some on the wall and has to rub it off. Fern in his jealous rage calmly turns the caracolon upside down, and then makes blowing/ spitting noises at it. What was that all about?

Does it look more or less erotic now? Still evil? To me it looks less evil but more erotic.

Aldo continues to charm Erasmo by saying how much Lety talked about them and how important they are in her life etc. Erasmo starts to cave, as Al continues to describe how much he too values family. Finally “the family” sits down to eat, and Erasmo welcomes Aldo, that their home is now his home. It worked. That guy is soooo smooooth.

Tomas walks and talks cursing Alibubi’s escapade with Aldo and wondering why. He happens upon a street poster advertising a place to change his look. He curses all attractive people.

Erasmo yells at Moty for having bad manners in front of guests. Heck, for a dog they scooped off the street, I think Moty does pretty darn good. Have you understood that I like Moty?!!!

Aldo praises the food. And Erasmo says they know this stuff because they are Pueblan. Aldo knows that, because Lety has indicated how proud she was to be from Puebla. Lety says Aldo knows of what he speaks because he’s a chef. Erasmo is shocked that a cook could not be a woman. Lety says, you know the best chefs in the world are males. Yeah, take that Erasmo, men are not automatically born with a gene that keeps them from being able to cook. YOU SHOULD TRY IT SOMETIME ERASMO!!!!!!

The door bell rings it must be Tomas, he greets everyone, then, uhoh, he’s ripe with rancor for Aldo.

Omar and Fernando are now awaiting the meeting at the Restaurant association and Fer continues to kvetch about Aldo. Omar reminds him of the 2 million he’s getting them. Fer goes on about Aldo being an idiot and that he doesn’t like him, etc. Just then Aldo walks up in another hip blazer and surprises them. They change their tune and greet him enthusiastically.

The cuartel is out front of Conceptos now also finally in different clothing and Irma is glad that they are all punctual after being kept awake so late the night before (in the bar) so they don’t get in trouble and they babble on about that. Lety then drives up in her new putt putt mobile and the cuartel is impactada and PM, most of all, gets all excited for her; cheering her. They all contemplate what they might be able to do with a car. Sara thinks somewhat sarcastically that it would be a burden, all the traffic, etc.. Lety confirms the car isn’t a boyfriend’s and not for the president, but is for her because she paid for it with her salary.

Alicia is back on the microbus and she falls asleep on her neighbor. Of course she insults the passengers and beats the driver up to stop, and then again realizes she wants to go backwards a little bit to avoid the cuartel. The driver offers to give her a hand getting down but she refuses, saying it would be dirty, and she’s glad he’s finally opening the door because it started to look like he was taking her home. He said he would take her home but to do things she doesn’t know how to do, wash, clean, cook etc. Ja Ja, she calls them nacos and pigs, etc. as she disembarks.

She then exchanges insults with the cuartel while they are admiring the car. Lety then tells the cuartel she needs to talk to them about their bathroom conversations because Marcia is walking around thinking something about her. They decide to go in, but not before Marta begs Celso to buy her some snacks.

Tomas 007 is behind the plants moving again, spying on Ali I guess.

Over at the ARM the bobsy twins are still trying to cover about anything Aldo might have overheard, and that they do like him, to which he replies he’s glad he likes them too. Everyone is introduced when Gui arrives and wow, we finally get to see new people on the set!!!! But, they are representatives from the government's publicity board. [I guess they are going to have a say in how the project promotes the foreign gastronomical tourism.]

Alibubis is kissing a picture of Aldo saying she’s getting married. Lety and the cuartel pass through and Lety invites the cuartel into the meeting room. They make like it’s a privilege to go into the meeting room of the presidency in front of Oxi.

Tomas shows up to Ali still incognito and begs her to come to his office. She wonders why he’s dressed so funny and says to herself that she hopes he doesn’t give her another pair of stockings because she’ll make him wear them himself and they will go very well with his ridiculous outfits.

Lety tells the cuartel that Marcia is going around thinking Lety broke up their wedding. She wants to know how they came upon such gossip. They try to blow it off that Mar heard wrong but Lety says Marci is not the kind of woman to make such a thing up and she presses them harder. Marta says the Edicion. Lety says no, I know it wouldn’t be from there, Gina is my friend anyway.

When Lety realizes she’s getting nowhere, she patronizes them and makes like she’s going to get up. Irma tells her if she’s not satisfied with the answer she got, she should just say so and demand to know once and for all what’s going on.

With the set of the ARM they finally got closer to the idea of a camera friendly table position, at least in this meeting they are using ¾ of the available space. The group begins talking about the project and Gui asks for Aldo to explain his concept. Before he can start jealous Fer interrupts and starts telling them about how Conceptos will be in charge and what ideas they have to spread the word. Gui then interrupts him saying before we get to the mediums and methods, he’d like Aldo to explain more about the concepts and ideas. Aldo says the usual about the Flavor of Life and Fer mocks him in a high baby voice. Wonderfully professional, not, but funny as hell!!

Mundo -- Wednesday 2/21 Meet Leo, "the ever-ready bunny"

*We leave off with Reg going into cardiac arrest... *gasp & roll-eyes* Delores screams for the always available Leo. They tell her to cough... (that's a new one on me...) Leo puts something under her tongue and tells her to cough ( are you supposed to cough when you're having a heart attack? hmmm...) She wheezes saying she's going to die and calls out for JC.

*Joz goes to see Gabe in his office, he's short with her... she reminds him they have a child in common... he says "anything else?"... she says no and leaves...

*Meanwhile, MA's been chatting with Diana about the whole situation with Dam pretending to be Gabe... Diana says she totally understands. They chat about what women feel when men cheat on them. MA tells her how horrible she felt when she saw Dam pretending to be Gabe and kissin-up Joz... MA says she recognizes her mistake in not trusting Gabe and how he's now distant and cold... she doesn't blame him for it.

*Back at the hospital Leo is injecting something into Regina's IV, who is whining and whimpering... Pau and Ti come in and Leo tells them to get out... they resist but Dolores scoots them out... Pau whimpers and they both leave. Reg whimpers that she's in pain... Leo cradles her face telling her to be calm...

*Nic gives MA a magazine telling her she has great review in it and he congratulates her on her achievements and leaves. The magazine has her on the cover and it's called Éxito (success). She looks sad and pensive...

*In Dam's office he receives a phone call about Regina's condition... Ti tells him Regina has turned for the worse... he yells no, no and "runs" out of the office...

*Joz visits MA in her office and says to MA that she imagines that MA feels like she's on cloud nine. MA smiles fakely and says yes, she's quite proud of herself and what's more, she is all the more proud cuz she didn't have to connive her way to the top... Joz smiles fakely and struts out of the office...

*Ti is in the waiting room when Dam comes in and grabs him by the collar and shakes him asking what is happening!?! Ti informs him that Reg had a heart attack but the docs are stabilizing her... Dam runs down the hospital corridor yelling, "Regina, Regina!"

*Pau calls Gabe to let him know about Reg... he leaves right away, MA walks in and runs out the door with him.

*Dam, leaning over Regina's sleeping body, cries "you are the most important to me..." blah, blah... and yells "por que, por que." The nurse tries to calm him but he's having none of it. He yells at her and she walks away. He exclaims that Regina can't leave him alone...

*The nurse has returned with Leo, always a few feet away, and a couple of hospital henchmen... who attempt to cart him away... it's not an easy task for the henchmen, to say the least... Dam swings them all around the room but they are eventually successful and drag him off while he yells, "suelte me."

*Regina looks catatonic...

*At Miriams designery, or whatever its called, she's telling Joz that she told her not to do that stupid trick on MA with Dam... the phone rings... It's Karen letting Mir know she can't make it to work cuz Reg is having big troubles... Mir tells her she belongs with her family and what happens to Regina means nothing to her. Kar tells her she's sorry but she's staying at the hospital then hangs up. Joz asks what's up and Mir lets her know about Regina and Karen staying at the hospital instead of coming into work. Joz decides to go to the hospital... (big surprise). Mir says she's making a mistake and cannot count on her (Mir) for help. Joz glares at her.

*Gabe and MA reach the hospital and Karen tells them Leo is tending Reg. Also, no one is to tell JC what is happening... Gabe ruminates that Dam is capable of anything...

*Dol tries to stop Dam out in the hospital hallway... he screams about how this is all JC's fault... Dol tries to stop him from going further... Gabe comes into the scene and Dam tells him to mind his own business... Dam and Gabe and Dol go back and forth about how they aren't going to let him in to see JC...

*In JC's room Pau hears them outside as JC sleeps... JC wakes up and they both hear Dam and Gabe fighting outside the room... JC tries to go see what is happening and Pau stops him.

*In the hallway Gabe tries to talk Dam into being calm. Dam accuses Gabe of being at fault for what is happening to Regina. (Where did Dol go?) Leo comes into the scene telling them to calm down... Dam grabs Leo by the collar and blames him for Regina's condition. He tells him that if
something happens to Reg he (Leo) is going to pay... Pau runs into the scene telling Dam to calm down, Dam tells her to shut up. Dam says they are all to blame, he was against this even if it meant JC had died. Pau is flabbergasted and says, "he's you own son!" Dam reveals that it doesn't matter, the only thing that matters to him is Regina. Leo hopes God forgives him... Dam says if they are such believers to go pray for Regina but no one is going to calm his anger. My closed captioning says someone said "AH!"

*Diana gets off the phone saying she's on her way... and tells Ingrid that Regina has turned for the worse... Else is very pensive... Ingrid says since she came back from her honeymoon it seems like she doesn't care about anything and ruminates about how a woman in love is supposed to be... Else thinks getting married was a mistake.

*At the hospital Gabe tells MA that Dam is like a wounded wild animal. Joz waltzes in asking how Regina is... MA rolls her eyes... MA asks her if she hasn't already caused enough harm... Dam tries to calm everyone down...says they'll all talk about this later... Joz slinks off.

*JC asks Pau what is happening as she comes back in from Dam's tantrum... she says it's just an argument about the constructoria, as always...

*Karen laments about what is happening to Regina and how it affects JC and Pau... Rog is surprised to hear her talk that way. She says she wants to change and not live an empty life... I couldn't tell if Rog was touched or sickened by her feelings...

*Dolores attends Regina... Reg says her time is up and she asks Dol to care for JC.. She says she's not suffering because she's done this for her son. Dol begs her to fight for her life, but swears she's be there for JC all the while saying she (Reg) is going to be fine. Reg asks to see MA and Gabe...
(I think this is going to be one of those long final speeches...) Dol goes to get them... Reg sobs.

*JC knows something is up... he demands Pau to tell him what's up...

*Gabe and MA walk in to visit Regina... Reg starts with the deep gasping breaths... she lets them know her life has been full and asks them not to let anything like anger or envy get in the way of their happiness. They all hold hands... she tells them to be happy and fight, fight.

*Ti walks up to Dol who is outside of Regina's door... he asks why she's crying and she tells him that Reg is leaving them. He's surprised Reg is that bad off. He's surprised she gave her life for someone else. Dol goes off on how that's what Mom's do for their kids and she'd do the same for him...
blah, blah... They look lovingly at each other, Ti grunts a few times then yells mamá, mamá, mamá, mamá, mamá, mamá as he squeezes the living heck out of her, then starts to sob uncontrollably. (Wow!) Then asks for her forgiveness and rushes off. Dol sobs.

*Somehow Pau has made it into Regina's room with Gabe and MA's gone. Reg tells her this is goodbye. All I can say is she MUST be dying for all the long winded goodbye speeches she's making to everyone. She tells Pau to take care of JC. Reg and Pau sob together. Regina goes into some sort of spasm or something and Gabe runs for the doctor.

*Dam stomps into JC's room and lets him know that his mother is dying and it's all his fault.

*Regina has kinda come around but the look on her face is like, well, she's all red and her eyes are about to pop out of her head. She looks more like she should be in a horror movie than a novela... I know that's mean but good grief she looks horrible!

*Leo, the ever-ready bunny, comes running in the room... both Regina and Pau are gasping, it's like, gasping in stereo!

*Reg tells Leo not to work too hard cuz it's over for her... he wants to take her somewhere but she refuses, convinced that her time has come. She begs him to let her say her goodbye's. He's looking convinced when several people make their way into the room, it's Candy, Dol and MA, oh, and the priest, then JC. She looks terrorized but I think she's actually trying to look immensely sad... JC stagers and coughs his way to her bed...

*JC says it's his fault she's dying... she says no... he has an obligation to God and to life... her grandchild needs him.... She tells him to raise his son to be a good man like him. They cry at each other... She asks God to help her accept that she won't be at his side anymore.... then she gasps several times with her eyes wide... the camera flashes briefly to the Priest... she tells JC she'll be waiting for him and that his happiness is all she asks. Then she passes out; the sound of the hart monitor goes flat.

*JC caresses her head and cries telling her to go in peace... The Priest prays over her while JC sobs... Dam enters pushes JC onto the floor and screams Regina, Regina Regina...

*Dam demands that everyone gets out. He accuses JC of killing her... He pushes half the people out... then Dam & Pau help JC out of the room. Dam sobs and kisses Regina's hand... he screams, "AHHHH!"

*JC is helped into bed by Leo and Gabe. He is saddened by his father and despondent over his mother...

*Meanwhile, Dam is also despondent and blaming JC for her death as he caresses her hand. He says she's not dead, just sleeping... and seems to be loosing his mind.

*Gabe knocks on the door, jiggling the handle telling him to let him in... but Dam seems not to hear anything and continues caressing Regina's dead hand... ew! and sad...

For Internet Explorer viewers who can't see the whole page...

I don't know what happened, I'm trying to figure it out, but in the mean time a weird fix is to go to your menu bar above, click view / text size / smaller and everything will appear. Then you can , again, click view / text size / this time click back to medium and everything will still be visible! Or you can switch to Firefox browser. I will try to get someone to help figure out what happened.

Duelo de Pasiones, Tuesday 2/20 - In which Don Loco and Thelma should be locked in a room with riding crops. Who would win?

Filthy Flor/Alina thanks and hugs Gaspar. The camera can barely see around his bulging triceps as Flor waves goodbye and begins her journey to San Mateo.

Emilio tells Orlando that when he went to look for Flor he was horrified to find Thelma instead, and Thelma told him that she married him in "articulo de muerte" (on the deathbed). In reality it was an "articulo de traición," an article of betrayal, a betrayal by Orlando, Thelma, Flor, by all of them. Orlando says Emilio is disrespecting Thelma, she is carrying his child. Emilio insists that Thelma was always interested in him but their relationship was never serious. She is using the child to ensnare him because she couldn't get him on her own. Maybe she's not lying about the child but he wishes it could be different. She's not the woman he wanted to marry or have a child with. The only one he has ever wanted has disappeared.

Sergio takes Don Loco (who is wearing a cowboy-shaped rain cap over his cowboy hat) to the bog where Flor was trapped. Don Loco thinks Flor has perished so he slugs Sergio and aims his pistol at him. Sergio begs for his life and sinks to his knees where he sees footprints. "The idiot Gaspar must have rescued her," he says hopefully. We now see that Sergio has been holding his rifle the whole time. What a wimp. How unfortunate for us that Don Loco and Sergio didn't shoot each other when they had the chance.

Blanca, who is having a very bad hair day, tells Elias that Don Loco has hidden Alina/Flor in a cave somewhere. Blanca couldn't get more details because everybody is afraid of Don Loco. For some reason they decide Soledad is the only one who can help them find Alina and off they go. Maybe Adela can help Blanca with her hair during the visit.

Luba is cleaning cobwebs off the ceiling of the cave with a big stick when a furious Don Loco enters, whacks her with his riding crop and demands to know how Flor could have escaped yet again. Thanks to Gaspar helping her escape she has fallen into the bog and can't be found. Luba is impactada.

Don Loco says if some animal has eaten Flor then Luba will be responsible. Why? Because Luba is a stupid idiot. He makes a crashing exit, knocking over all her shelves on his way out. "Alvaro Montellano," she vows," you're going to pay, someday you're going to pay and I'm going to kill you! Oops...sorry about that Virgencita," she says to her shrine, "but that jerk just busted all my stuff!"

Filthy Flor wanders by a river and splashes a few drops of water on herself. She has to clean herself and search for Doña Carmen.

Orlando tells Emilio not to blame Flor. He doesn't know for sure if Thelma paid Flor off, nobody heard what was said between them. Flor was helping him. They would be married if Alvaro hadn't arrived. Emilio doesn't seem to hold a grudge against Alvaro although he is the one who injured Emilio and stopped the wedding. That man really seems to hate Flor. They go on with the same old conversation they always have, Emilio steeped in self-pity and Orlando working all the angles. Emilio says he will return to being the Emilio Valtierra from before, whatever that means. Somehow I don't think it means an improved Emilio. Maybe he will be the singing Emilio.

There is a knock on Soledad's door. Blanca enters. I'm confused, I thought Soledad was locked in. Oh right, the kidnapped walk freely, never mind. Blanca's hair looks better! Her whole face looks better. Adela must have attacked her with a curling iron and makeup bag on her way upstairs. Blanca says Elias is downstairs, she told him everything. They want to know exactly where Alina is. Soledad says they should ask Adela. They must be very careful or Don Loco will suspect her "madness" is feigned. Oh, I just thought of something, of course Blanca got spiffed up because she's visiting her hubbie's old flame. NOW I get it.

Elias paces downstairs. Don Loco enters and is surprised to see him. Don Loco looks angry but Elias throws him off by thanking him for his hospitality to Blanca. Blanca told him about Soledad's unfortunate mental illness. "Yeah, too bad about that," says Don Loco," you can't see her, she won't recognize you. Tell me all about the work you are doing on the highway."

Luba has been busy; the cave is tidied up after hurricane Alvaro blew through. When Gaspar gets back to the cave Luba sees his dirty knees and asks what happened, where's Flor? Gaspar says he rescued her from the bog and she's on her way to San Mateo. Donkey is outside pining for her and Gaspar is sad too. Luba says she is also sad, she'll miss Flor but at last she'll be free. She holds Gaspar's head and says, "Son, I hope one day you and I will also be free."

A slightly cleaner Flor shows up at Carmen's restaurant. "Don't you recognize me? I am Alina Montellano," she tells a stunned Carmen. We don't know if Carmen is stunned to see Alina or stunned to see a smelly bog woman in her cafe.

Santos is happy. He got a job with the new highway, will make lots of money, and can take Rosita way from the odious Don max. They share a mutual hate-fest over Don Max. Santos says Flor will be sure to find his mom in San Mateo, everybody knows Doña Carmen Garcia.

Carmen is glad to see Alina/Flor but wonders how she got all the way to the puebla. Alina asks if she can telephone her godparents. The phone rings three times and Alina hangs up, there is no answer. Carmen suggests that Flor go to her house to clean up. You can't blame her for not wanting swamp girl in her cute little cafe.

Adela is afraid to show Blanca where Luba's cave is. Hell, Adela is afraid of frigging everything. Next scene.

Elias is in Don Loco's office. Elias tells Don Loco how great the new road will be, it will provide jobs plus people can actually get from point A to point B and back again. Don Loco argues against it, the highway will bring problems, he doesn't agree with the ridiculous notion of progress, and he doesn't like outsiders meddling in his business. Elias counters, "Why worry? There is nothing to hide in Sierra Escondido...or is there????" Don Loco scowls. Elias chuckles and raises his eyebrow. Elias = 1, Don Loco = 0.

Central America - Felicia, she of the busting out boobs and bubble butt, is taking food to Jose. Her brother, boss of the drug runners is very irritated by this. He doesn't want her hanging around with "those types." We don't know what type he means exactly, stupid? honest? stud-muffin? Felicia says she'll like whom she wants and she likes Jose, and just to be clear, she was his woman. (Did the nasty I think she means.) "Damn it," curses the brother, "how dare he!?!"

Don Loco is threatening Elias about the highway when Blanca enters and says Soledad is doing very badly. Don Loco runs out and Blanca tells Elias it is a ruse, they need to go right away.

Doña Loco is acting loca, yelling for her daughter, yelling a lot. Don Loco tells her to calm down, just a little while ago Soledad told him Alina was in her cradle and that's where she is. Doña Loco messes with his head, "Her cradle? But I thought she was a young girl?" Don Loco looks confounded. "Stay with me," she coos, laying her head on his shoulder. It's fun watching Soledad try to out-loco Don Loco.

Alina and Carmen are in the comandante's office. Alina must have borrowed some clothes from Carmen; she is wearing a fetching red skirt, white peasant blouse, and red wedge sandals. She tells the comandante she is the daughter of Alvaro Montellano. She has come to denounce her father for treating her badly and kidnapping her mother. The comandante needs to go to Sierra Escondido and arrest him please.

The comandante asks if she can prove the allegations. Alina says yes, there are many people who will testify against him. The comandante asks why no one has come forward before. "Because they are all afraid of him," she answers, without explaining why they would now be unafraid and would testify. The comandante says he will gather his men and go arrest Alvaro.

Sergio returns just as Adela is trying to sneak out to help Elias and Blanca. He says she has to stay there because he and the patron have to rush to San Mateo.

Don Loco is in the house yelling for Adela. Sergio arrives and says he is sure Alina is alive. They feel certain she has gone to town and they are going to find her.

Adela gives Elias directions to Luba's cave. I notice there is no warning about the whirlpool, I wonder if this will be a problem? Adela says the patron is in a hurry to go to town. Elias is suspicious about the reason. Blanca is to remain with Soledad while he searches for the cave.

Thelma is in bed. She isn't feeling better because she has a pain in her soul (what soul?) and Emilio hates her. She cries and says she will do everything she can to make him love her. She will be affectionate and understanding, she will be the woman he has always dreamed of having. I'm thinking...NOT!

Don Max has a surprise for Emilio, it's Coralita. Emilio seems genuinely happy to see Coral and takes her hand. Don Max cackles lasciviously and leaves them alone. Coral tells Emilio he looks much better. Emilio replies "don't let looks fool you, I'm worse than ever."

There is a full moon over Edelmira's joint. Edelmiro and Granillo are waiting for Coral and they aren't the only ones. The creep Jeremias is also waiting. Granillo doesn't like him (no kidding, dressed as a woman he beat the crap out of him just last week) and calls him ugly and stinky. Edelmira reminds Granillo that Jeremias is rolling in dough, he's the only store owner in the area. Jeremias fans himself with his wad of cash, possibly not the wisest thing to do in a sleazy strip joint.

Hoorah! Elias has made it to Luba's cave without falling into the whirlpool. Luba sneaks up behind him and puts her big old knife to his throat. She demands to know who he is and what he wants. Elias manages to convince her that he is there to help Alina. Luba says Alina is no longer there, she escaped and went to town. Elias is worried, he says that must be why Alvaro was in such a panic to get to town. Luba is impactada, her eyes dart around wildly.

Carmen's House - Alina tells Carmen that she is worried about her mother. Suddenly there is an official-sounding knock on the door. It is the comandante...followed by Don Loco! "At last I have found you," he says to a shocked Alina.

Don Loco and Alina argue about whether or not she is his daughter and whether or not her name is Flor or Alina. Same old same old. He says Soledad is very sick and Flor should return home with him. If she doesn't then he'll tell her mother that Flor doesn't want to see her.

Luba viciously stabs another hole in her table and tells Elias to sit down. She asks him why he's so nervous. (Uh, maybe because you held a knife to his throat and then jabbed it into the dining room table?) But no, Elias says it's because Don Loco may have gone to San Mateo to recapture Alina. Luba says, "poor Flor." "Who's Flor?" asks Elias.

Luba fills him in on Sierra Escondido's dirty little secret. Aha! That explains why nobody answered him when he asked about Alina! Elias snarls, grabs the knife and HE stabs the table.

Luba gets pissed. Only she is allowed to stab her table! She pulls out the knife and brandishes it at Elias, "Ehhhh??? NO!!" Elias wisely moves around behind the chair. Luba continues, "The patron is a fiera and nobody can calm him. He took a shot at Emilio Valtierra when he tried to marry Flor." Elias is impactado,"Emilio? The owner of La Rinconada? Tell me all about it." These two could be dangerous together.

Carmel tells Alina to stay with her in San Mateo. Don Loco says shut up, her name is Flor. Of course FlorAlina folds and decides to go home with Don Loco. Her freedom was brief but at least she got a new skirt, blouse, shoes and sweater out of the deal.

Angel tells Emilio that he should talk to Thelma. Emilio refuses. Rebeca the singing aunt tries to talk to Emilio about his wife. "My wife," he scoffs! Rebeca says yes, Thelma is his wife and is carrying his child. She is crying uncontrollably and in her condition it could be fatal. I'm surprised even the self-absorbed Emilio didn't laugh at that one. Rebeca gets nowhere and Emilio ushers her out of his room.

Don Loco pays off the comandante who says he and his men will keep an eye out in case Flor tries to cause trouble again. As Flor sadly gets on her horse Don Loco recalls when Alina was young, he was teaching her to ride. "Ah Alina, how I loved you, why aren't you my daughter? I adored you," he thought bubbles.

Luba and Elias compare notes and figure out that Don Loco has headed to San Mateo to look for Alina who has gone to San Mateo to call Elias and Blanca. Elias says if she doesn't return he'll go looking for her.

God help us, Emilio is STILL in his room having flashbacks of Flor. Now it's Angel's turn to visit. He says he's feeling better and intends to leave in a few days, he wants to see Flor. Emilio says he prohibits it. Angel says he'll do what he wants and Emilio can prohibit nothing. Angel says Flor is a good woman and he could give her everything. Emilio is impactado. heh heh

The comandante tells Carmen not to flap her yap about this FlorAlina business or her son Santos will pay the price.

It is nighttime and the road from San Mateo to Sierra Escondido is dangerous so Flor gets to spend the night in a hotel while Sergio and Don Loco stand guard outside.

Thelma has a fantasy that she drags Flor out into the great room by her hair. She throws Flor to the ground and violently whips her again and again with a riding crop. It was very convincing and the actress that plays Thelma now scares the heck out of me. Back in reality, Thelma has a crop in her hand and it bears her monogram. She says if Flor gets in the way of Emilio loving her she will have to kill her.

Auntie Rebeca enters and asks Thelma where she got the crop. Thelma says she got it when she was learning to ride. Auntie is concerned about Thelma riding in her condition. Thelma says of course she's not riding. Now she's going to use the whip to punish anyone who gets in her way. "You're crazy," auntie says, " you're not thinking of..." Thelma says yes, she would love to undo the face of that stupid Flor with this whip of hers. "You're crazy, crazy," Rebeca repeats over and over as she rushes out of the room.

Elias comes to Soledad's room where Soledad, Blanca and Adela are waiting. He tells them that Alina left the cave for San Mateo. "No Puede Ser!" the ladies exclaim, "Alvaro went to San Mateo!" All they can do is pray that Alvaro doesn't find her.

Alvaro talks to Sergio outside Alina's window. He asks Sergio what if he is wrong about Alina not being his daughter? What if Soledad didn't betray him with that foreman? But then he recalls shooting at Jose and Jose vowing to return for his daughter. Yes, Flor must be Jose's daughter.

Flor listens as Don Loco says he loved her more than life, when she was born he held her in his arms as if she were a part of him, he was full of pride for his daughter, but NO, he CAN'T love the child of another man, he must forget her. FlorAlina cries. Don Loco weeps as if he were the victim instead of an insane incarnation of satan. Flor prays to the Virgencita that her papa isn't bad. (What????) She sniffles on, he is tortured, he has a sickness, help him Virgencita, help him to see the truth.

Meanwhile Emilio asks the air "Flor, where could you be? My brother loves you so even though I was ready to dump you I now have renewed interest in you. I love you when I should hate you. God help me to forget her, I must forget her."

Advance for tomorrow: To the tune of Ase's Death Flor insists to Don Loco that she is his daughter and he knows it. She loves her papito. He is the person she most admired and looked up to, the person she looked to for care and protection. Don Loco weeps, but will he succumb? We're not holding our breath.

Mundo de Fieras: 2/20/07 "Chickens Coming Home To Roost"

The transplant operation turns out to be a success and everybody is relieved. Leo once again has saved the day. Regina is fine and out of harm's way as well.

Dolores runs into Gabe in the hospital lounge and mentions to him that Mariangela has returned. He lets out one gi-normous sigh.

Mariangela is visiting with Candy in the old neighborhood again. Candy asks her why she doesn't stop putting things off and just confront Gabe and discuss whatever it is that's come between them. After all, she tells her, "You love him. Don't be so bitter about things." Mariangela thinks about facing up to her fears.

Rogelio with the same kind of confused look as his daddy's (like father like son) thinks back to what El Coyote was telling him. He wonders if Coyote was hinting that Demian had killed his mistress, Raquel.

Mariangela returns to the manse and runs into Jos in the hallway. Jos suggests she go ahead and sell her part of the house and leave already, because there isn't room for the two of them either in the house or in the construction company. Mariangela tells her that just like she told Miriam, she has no intention of selling. Jos says if she insists in their confronting one another there'll only be one ending: one of them will lose and only one will win. Mariangela tells her then she, and not Jos, will win the battle .

Gabe comes over to see Mariangela to ask why she left without saying good-bye. She tells him not to touch her or to even come near her. "What's happened to you?" he asks her. She tells him she doesn't want to see him again.

In Reggie's room Damian cries at his wife's bedside while waiting for her to regain consciousness. He tells her he doesn't know what he would do if he ever lost her. (What is he talking about? This guy is still fooling around with every woman who even blinks in his direction!)

Back at the manse again, Mariangela is screaming at Gabe for cheating on her with Jos. He tells her repeatedly that he has no idea what she's talking about. She says to stop pretending because she saw him and Jos together in his office, making a fool of her and kissing each other, talking about swindling her out of her father's inheritance. Gabe is impactado once more.

JC wakes up to find Pau at his bedside. He again asks who the donor was and Pau tells him that because she is doing fine now she will tell him. She tells him it was his mother and JC is close to tears because his mother has saved his life and so has given him life again.

Gabe and Mariangela are still in the middle of their fight when it finally comes to Gabe in a flash that it might have been his hateful, jealous twin who was out to get even by mascarading as him. He asks her didn't all this seem even a bit suspicious to her, considering Jos is the woman he most despises in the world? How could she have just judged him outright like that? (In effect, she knew he had a jealous twin as well as a crazy, jealous, constantly scheming ex-wife, that would do anything to cause problems for him, but Mariangela, Mexico's most recent and most brilliant rising star of industry, didin't have the common sense to consider this as a possibility.) Mariangela realizes Gabe definitely has a point here.

Gabe tells her it is obvious she doesn't love him as much as he loves her. Her love is fragile and weak. It didn't matter to her a bit what he might have been thinking or feeling. He promises her though, in the end, that he will show her the love he has for her and how she has been totally wrong about everything. Disappointed in her, he shakes his head, and leaves, slamming the door on his way out. (All right! He does have some cajones. I thought either Jos or she had put 'em in a lock-box somewhere!)

After Gabe leaves, Mariangela realizes she owes him an apology.

Eventually the doctor gives JC permission to be wheeled in his wheelchair to his mother's room. So, the next day Pau takes him to see Regina and JC tells Reggie that he has one more reason to admire her. He tells her that he is what he is because of the kind of mother she has been with him. (Ok. A little syrupy sentimentality is nice, but this is reaching diabetes-inducing range.)

Gabe goes to Demian's place and finds Demian there talking with Tiberio. He tells him he knows about the little subterfuge with Jos and how the two of them tried to separate Mariangela and him in order to cause trouble. Demian lies and says that was impossible because he was out eating breakfast with Ti. Ti backs his daddy up and Gabe, apopleptic about now, calls them both liars. He says that Demian and he are now back to square one and the merger is off. He storms out. (Score another one for Gabe!)

Mariangela, still at the manse, goes downstairs and confronts Jos about her trying to trick her and nearly destroying her relationship with Gabe. When Jos pretends she doesn't know what Mariangela's talking about, Mariangela becomes furious and tells Jos not to think that she is going to get her own way in this. Jos tells her to give up because she'll never get the better of her. She should realize that she and Gabe will never be happy together. Mariangela warns her that she is going to fight for what is hers. Jos warns her not to let her guard down with a wild animal because when she least expects it, the animal strikes. "Then I will just end up caging you, Jos!"

Elsa is sneaking another swig of hooch out of her pint behind the coatrack when Otilia comes up and surprises her. Elsa begs her not to fire her or to tell her mother. Otilia says she has no intention of firing her, but suggests she attend Alchoholics Anonymous to get help. Elsa says she doesn't think she can force herself.

At the same time Sylvestre comes over to speak with Candy and he tells her that he found Elsa's bottle of hooch during their honeymoon. She had fallen off the wagon after all. He says he loves her though and will see that she eventually stops drinking. Candy is heartsick at the news that Elsita has fallen back into the "clutches of alchohol".

Ti has a conversation with Dolores, who apologizes for missing out on celebrating his birthday with him. He realizes now it was for a good reason. She asks if his father celebrated with him instead. He answers that Demian didn't but he never has bothered to. She says she'll discuss that with him. Ti says not to bother. Demian has always had only one interest and that has been Regina. Never once, he adds, has he shown a bit of affection towards him, nor given even a word of encouragement. He tells her then that he realizes that his father has never loved him as a son. He is just one more employee to Demian.

Mariangela finds Demian at the office and tears him a new one for trying to trick her by impersonating his brother and getting her to believe Gabe was double-timing her with Jos. Demian tries to verbally swat her away and denies everything. He even accuses her of setting him up to get him in trouble with his brother, but Mariangela tells him to stuff it. She warns him she will not be as foolish next time.

Demian threatens Mariangela, saying he is worse than her worst nightmare. She answers him back that if he tries anything again, he is the one who will find out what she is capable of doing and she will make him pay dearly. He should not doubt that she can hurt him and she will. She storms out and the first thing Demian thinks to himself is that she's sexy when she gets angry....... (What was this about Regina being his whole world and the love of his life? How quickly he forgets. I think this is called compartmentalizing......)

Gabe goes back to the manse to look for Jos since she never came in to work that morning. He finds her and complains about the trick she played on Mariangela with Demian in his office while he was gone. She of course denies this, which makes him even angrier. He tells her he's certain about it and yells at her about when will she ever come to realize that he wants her out of his life for good. "Enough already! You are going to pay dearly for this!" He turns around and leaves, slamming the door in her face. (Gabe is 3 for 3 tonight. He is so angry he is smokin'!) Jos begins to look worried that the jig is finally up.

Demian, in his office alone again, is furious with himself about joining in Joselyn's little intrigues. Now that the merger is off he knows that eventually Regina will find out the truth and he will never be able to live it down.

Once Gabe has returned to the office he fills Nicolas in about what has happened between him and Mariangela due to Jos and Demian's antics. He tells Nic that he's backing away from the merger. Nic says they'll have to call another major shareholder's meeting because that is the only way he can renig on the merger. Gabe says no they won't. He is the major stockholder and what he says goes, period.

Mariangela comes by to apologize to Gabe for her doubts and her rotten behavior towards him. He says he can forgive her, but it has been too painful an experience for him. He suggests they give each other some space for a while. She asks if he wants her to stay away. He suggests that it would be best but before she comes back she should think long and hard about whether she really loves him as much as he loves her.

Dolores goes in to visit with Reggie and they talk about how mothers will do anything to save the lives of one of their kids. Reggie tries to take a nap as Dolores says she'll stick around for a bit to watch over her for a while. Dolores is looking out the window when all of a sudden Regina begins to choke and gasp.

La Fea Más Bella #215 2/20/07 It's not over yet...

Lately, anytime Erasmo enters the room I hear the "Imperial March" in my head. Duh du du du dun da da dun da da... Anyway...He asks why no one told him that Lety was home. Lety smiles and tells him hello. He asks Lety for news from Conceptos. Lety sighs. She almost slips and confesses that it's the same as always [Anyone else guessing she's talking about Fernando?], it's the cuartel. She peeks at her mom for some support. Julieta winks and Lety grimaces.

The cuartel sits at the bar with the lawyer and make a toast. He personally salutes Sara. She rolls her eyes. Like a typical man in a bar, he takes this as a sign that Sara would like to dance with him. [Sorry to any gentlemen, but it does seem like the less attracted I act towards a man in a bar, the more attracted he is to me. I'm sure the ladies can attest to that!] Lola encourages Sara to dance with him. She doesn't want him to get mad and take El Cheque's side. She begs Sara to think about Lola's kids. The girls tell PM to dance with him. Everyone take note - for the first and only time PM refuses to dance with a man! Martha refuses to dance with him too. Irmita saves the day by volunteering to dance with him. They make a cute little couple when they take the floor and begin to dance.

Could it be? Is it a taco stand? The taxi stops. No! It's even worse! It's an authentic Mexican restaurant! It smells like fried food! Alicia asks for the good restaurant. Aldo says that it's here, and Alicia will love it. Alicia thinks that Aldo is messing with her. Aldo says he only brought her here because this restaurant has the best tostadas de pata that's he's ever eaten in his life. Alicia looks scared. Could it because the recipe for tostadas de pata calls for 4 pigs
feet? Here's a recipe in English. Yup, it's the pig thing that grosses her out. Aldo asks if she wants to give it a try. Alicia replies that if it's with him, she'll eat the whole pig. [He should take her up on that offer and put her on Fear Factor. That $50,000 will get her back her car!] Alicia and Aldo enter the restaurant.

Erasmo proclaims to Julieta that everything in Conceptos is very good. Well, except for that one secretary. Geez, I wonder which one... The one eating a whole pig as he speaks? Erasmo thinks she could stand to cover up. Julieta doesn't understand which secretary. Erasmo uses this opportunity to take a shot at how Alicia dresses. [He must have been reading
this blog's comments]. On top of her wardrobe, she's rude and insolent. Lety asks her father to change the topic. Julieta asks if Alicia is really that bad. Lety replies that on a scale of one to ten Alicia's a twelve. Julieta asks why Tomas is so enchanted by Alicia. Erasmo thinks it has something to do with Alicia's state of undress. Erasmo wonder aloud why Tomas has not shown up to eat. Lety says that Tomas has become like a panther. He became really jealous when he saw Alicia with Aldo. He was so mad that he did not want to come with Lety.

The white belt lives on! Marcia, like the good pushover that she is, serves Fernando dinner. She talks a little business, asking if Fernando and Omar have a meeting tomorrow with Guillermo. Fernando confirms; he wants to ask Guillermo about Aldo. Marcia replies that Aldo's a very pleasant man. Plus, he brought them "The Project." Yes, the project about tacos and chalupas, Fernando agrees. He's worried about something else. What's going on between Aldo and Alicia. Marcia says she doesn't know about Aldo, but Alicia is fascinated. She wants to conquer him. Fernando cynically replies that Alicia wants to conquer every man, especially well-off ones. Marcia thinks that Alicia's a little more serious about this one. She even
said she would go out with Aldo if he did not have money. Fernando believes this for about .000001 seconds. Marcia mentions that Alicia is very good-looking. Fernando replies that is a question of how you focus on her. [He must be talking about her really big...hair] She doesn't even have one neuron in her brain, or maybe half of one. Marcia replies that Alicia is pretty sure that Aldo is interested. Fernando responds by saying half of Alicia is a lie and the other half is not sure. Marcia explains that Aldo defended Alicia in front of Ariel. Fernando starts planning the wedding and marriage of Alicia and Aldo. They could go live in Moscow! Marcia has a moment of awareness and says that Fernando wants Aldo to go away so he
will be far from Leticia. Bad, bad Fernando tells Marcia that he doesn't want to start that again. He wanted a normal dinner conversation and she always ends by talking about Lety. If you have a DVR, check out Marcia's evil glance at Fernando! Classic! He doesn't stop and says that Marcia is obsessed with Lety. Now he's not even hungry!

The waiter serves up to platters of tostadas de plata. Alicia nervously takes a bite. Aldo seems impressed by Alicia's appetite. She makes the excuse that she works so much that she doesn't have time to eat. Aldo changes subjects and asks Alicia about the conversation she wanted to have about Lety. Alicia says she'll tell him after they're done eating. She asks him what is his dedication. He replies that he likes to enjoy life. She wants more. How does he live. From the air, from the water, from land; from everything that nature has gifted to him. Alicia thinks this is weird. She clarifies. What does he do for a job? He says that he's a chef. This makes perfect sense to Alicia. He overheard him talking on the phone about a restaurant. He explains that he's building a restaurant. She asks how much he plans to earn in a month. A week? Aldo says he has no idea. It's been a while since we last hear this, but Alicia explains to Aldo that she studied six semesters of finance in a prestigious university. How could he not know what he's going to earn? Aldo says that he guesses he'll have a reasonable salary, but he's doing this because he loves to cook and it's his dream. Alicia understands, but money is very important. She reviews her money troubles. She asks for 500 thousand pesos.

Back with the cuartel and the lawyer [Am I that obvious that I don't remember his name? Help, please!]. He tells the cuartel that they have overstepped their bounds. He wanted to dance with Sara, and they didn't let him. The other lawyer walks into the room and greets Sanchez. [We have a name!] Rosales cannot believe that Sanchez is having some tequila without him. [The travesty!] Rosales personally greets Juana. Me thinks his breath does not smell good. The two lawyers go to the side to discuss the current situation. Rosales wants to know if Alicia is there. Sanchez replies that she is not with them. Rosales asks Sanchez if he wants to begin a romance with Sara. Meanwhile, in the foreground, Sara whispers to Juana that she doesn't want to do this. Rosales asks Sanchez why all the women are there. Sanchez replies that they're the chaperones.

Alicia wasn't kidding when she said that she would eat the whole pig. Aldo tells Alicia that it bothers him that she's so worried about her car. It's nothing more than a material object! There are millions of happy people who have never had a car. Alicia replies that's because they never knew what it was like to ride in a luxury convertible. Aldo asks what will happen if Alicia never gets back her car. Alicia says this will never happen. She's not the same woman without her car. Aldo says he sees more in her; a woman with incredible potential. Either Alicia has a bad sunburn or even her bust begins to blush. She pardons herself from the table.

Julieta enters Lety's room and says that she's very worried. She wants to know what's going on with the cuartel. Lety explains that Marcia thinks she told the cuartel everything about her relationship with Fernando. She has no idea how they found out about it! Now everyone's talking about it. Julieta worries about her daughter, but Lety puts herself in Marcia's place. Lety says she can't even imagine how Marcia feels. Julieta's impressed that Lety would think of Marcia. Lety thinks that Marcia has the right to fight for Fernando; she's very much in love with him. She was going to marry him. Julieta asks if there is any problem between Fernando and Marcia now. Lety tells her mother that she needs to get up at dawn to go running with Aldo. Julieta really likes that idea; she thinks that Lety should invite Aldo to come eat breakfast tomorrow. Lety worries about Erasmo's reaction but Julieta thinks it would be a good idea because Lety is around Aldo so often.

Alicia stares at herself in the mirror. She recites Aldo's line about her being a enchanting woman, sympathetic and with incredible potential. Alicia gasps! Aldo must have been talking about her sexual potential! [I just choked on my water.] He's hitting on her in an indirect but still direct manner. Alicia thinks that she is in, but she has to be careful. It wasn't enough asking him for the money, he's very spherical, no esoteric, no philosophical, no metaphoric, no metaphysical. He's a very spiritual man! She has to come up with a good plan to conquer him!

Lety asks her mom why she said that with such a tone in her voice. Julieta replies that she only meant that Aldo will always be close to Lety. Lety replies that Aldo is a very good friend. Julieta thinks he's more than just a friend. Lety replies that she continues to think about you know who. [It didn't work for Harry Potter and Voldemort. It's not going to work for Lety. Fernando will not just go away!] Julieta changes the subject back to Aldo. She wants to know if Aldo also thinks that his and Lety's relationship is a friendship. Lety thinks so.

Alicia seductively approaches the table. She asks Aldo if she can read his hand. In the background Tomas jealously watches as Alicia rubs Aldo's hand. Alicia sexily looks at Aldo and acts as though she found something important.

As if the belt was not unflattering enough, the wardrobe people decide to dress up Marcia like the cookie monster. She asks Fernando to sleep her. Fernando replies that he feels a little smothered and he's going out to get some air. Marcia says she can get dressed and accompany him. Of course, Fernando says no and that he won't be out late.

Back at the restaurant Tomas watches the scene. Alicia says that Aldo is a very ancestral man. He understands this about as much as I do. He's from ancestors, many past lives. She sees something strange. He was his own great-great grandfather; his own grandfather and his own father. He asks Alicia how he could have been reincarnated before his former existence died. Alicia says she does not know. She also sees that he has a big hand, but it would be better if they changed subjects.

Lety tells her mom that Aldo is very tender with her (Lety). Yes, he loves her, but like a friend. They're very much friends. Just like Lety and Tomas, only Aldo is more handsome. Lety begs off and says she needs to go to bed because she's getting up early. After Julieta leaves, Lety sits on her bed and pets Moty.

Alicia must have decided to remain on task. She's found Aldo's love line. It says that in his very immediate future he's going to fall in love with an incredible, beautiful, elegant and refined woman. It's someone spectacular who will give him much internal peace. He's going to be very happy with her. Aldo asks if the woman is morena (dark haired, dark skinned) or blonde. Alicia replies that she has a great body and she's going to love him a lot. Aldo pulls his hand away from Alicia. Alicia says that her palm reading was exactly the same as Aldo's. "That you're going to encounter a marvelous woman?" he replies. Aldo holds her palm like he's going to read her hand. Tomas decides to leave rather than suffer, but not before he yells her name.

Rosales and Sanchez sit with the cuartel. Rosales plots to get rid of the chaperones. He walks over to the women and says they need to liven things up. He says he'll tell them a joke about his buddies, lawyers. It's about using a cat to determine the type of lawyer with whom one is negotiating. First, Put a cat on the desk of the lawyer. If the cat runs away, then the lawyer is a dog. If the cat attacks the lawyer, he is a rat. None of the women laugh, neither do I. Sanchez says he can't wait anymore. He approaches Sara and asks her for a minute. He complains about the women being around and interrupting their conversation. Lola thinks this would be a good time to interject and complain that she wants to talk business. Is she going to get half of her house? He begins to explain the legal process, but she interrupts and replies that he doesn't know here history with El Cheque. She wants to tell him everything. The cuartel doesn't like this idea. She shushes them and begins her story.

Aldo reads Alicia's hand. The only important thing is the present. Alicia thinks to herself. Why is Aldo so interested in the present? It must be because he's caressing her hand! Aldo teases and says that he and Alicia share the same essence. She interprets this to mean that she and Aldo are soul mates. He says that their shared essence is infinite. Alicia interpretation: "Lety's get married!" A cameraman comes to the table and takes a photo. Aldo looks shocked.

Lola continues her story. She cannot forget her husband. Irmita does not understand why Lola wants a divorce if she really wants to go back to El Cheque. Lola thinks she should send Efren a serenade. Sara approaches Sanchez and asks if he can see what this is doing to Lola. She insists that Sanchez hurry with the divorce. Irmita urges the women to leave. They give the bill to Rosales. Sanchez asks Sara if he can see her without all the chaperones. He looks at the bill. He cannot believe he's a lawyer who doesn't have the resources to pay a bill, but it's all worth it for Sara. He offers the waiter a thirty percent tip.

Alicia calls Marcia to tell her the good news. She wakes Marcia, but insists on telling Marcia about the evening. Aldo told her that they're soul mates. It's just a small step to marriage! Marcia hangs up on the overly optimistic Alicia. Alicia admires her photo with Aldo.

Aldo walks in the park in order to enjoy the night after such a long, long, long day. He smiles when thinks about Alicia. He says he feels compassion for her. He hopes she understood what he was saying to her.

Lety restlessly snuggles in her bed. Outside, Fernando drives up to her door. Somewhere mysterious, Jorge Flores prays for Lety and Fernando and their true love. Once Jorge finishes his prayer, Lety violently awakens. She senses Don Fernando who is stepping out of his car at that exact moment. He sits on his hood thinking about how he would like Lety to know what he really feels for her. Back in the house Lety wonders why she senses Fernando as if he were there. She gets out of bed and walks to her window. Who does she see? Don Fernando! She cannot believe it. Fernando is there, outside!

Because it's Black History Month and because I love quotes:

Now, I say to you today my friends, even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream. I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: - 'We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.' - Martin Luther King Jr., Speech at Civil Rights March on Washington, August 28, 1963
Hope everyone had a fun and safe Mardi Gras!

La Fea Más Bella #214 2/19/07 the end of a long day approaches but has not yet arrived.

First, a word from your recapper. Why no recap last night?

11:30 pm Monday - get home from rehearsal, settle in with my tv and vcr. Note this is a filler episode, feel sorry for person who has to recap it, fast-forward quite a lot. Go to sleep.

6:30 am Tuesday - wake up with a start, realizing I'm the one supposed to be recapping. Sigh and turn the VCR back on.

It comes on at the end of Duelo - Alina, stuck up to her ears in quick sand (or quick mud, it seems) screaming? Gaspar comes to her rescue. My first thought as he's hauling her out: lucky Chris, wet tshirt contest! Second thought, as I realize she's coated in mud: Those readers who are always wondering why her tshirt is spotless and brilliantly white after years of living in the cave without Miracle Whiteners will have a field day with this!

Commercial break: stuffed orange creatures singing on roller skates? I want one.

7:50 am - finish taking notes on the show and then have to get some actual work of my own done for a bit. Be right back.

8:23 am - OK, I'm back, on to the recap.

1. The cuartel

El Cheque has evidently been instructed by Jazmin to make nice with lawyer Sanchez, as tomorrow his case will come before the judge and alimony will be set. He makes a brusque but unctuous testimonial, telling Sara what a great guy Sanchez is, and urges her to go out with him.

She doesn't want to go but a quick huddle with her pals convinces her that, for Lola's sake, she should. She accepts. Sanchez wants to go someplace quiet where they can knock down a bunch of tequilas (or whiskeys, if she prefers). But she says there is one condition: she'll go with him only accompanied by chaperones - the entire cuartel.

He checks his wallet anxiously. "Take it or leave it." He takes it and all leave.

El Cheque waves his lame bundle of flowers at Jazmin and whines that he tried to do as she asked - he tried to toady up to Sanchez - "but look what happened." [I am so aggravated by her little rock hard breast implants I can hardle look at her -- Ed.] She's annoyed but they leave together.

2. Alicia, the convenenciera

Don't you love that word? convenenciera = a woman who uses people.

Ariel is ragging Alicia about the new stockings, is it a lover inside Conceptos, it certainly isn't your friends cause you don't have any, did somebody lend them to you ("I would never wear used stockings!"), well MY friends would prefer you without stockings... she starts to cry.

Tomas steps forward, terrified and stammering, but says Ariel should respect Alicia, not humiliate her. "Oh, is THIS the lover who bought you stockings?" Alicia churlishly denies it, "How could you think so?" Tomas: "I'm a gentleman and I don't allow ladies to be abused." Ariel mocks his stutter and tells him to stay out of the way. Tomas: "You think it's macho to be cruel to women?"

Ariel calls Tomas an insect and says he won't fight, and mocks Alicia for her bad taste in men.

Aldo, who heard the end of this exchange, inserts himself 3" from Ariel's face and says ¿Hasta adonde puede llegar el abuso del agresor?, how far can an aggressor's abuse go? (thanks marycelis)

"Ah, Aldo DomensaEEEn, I"ve barely met you and already I see you are an insufferable meddler." [Shout of agreement goes up from our anti-Aldo contingent.] "And I've seen what class of person is Ariel Villaroel. He hides all the good and noble he has and shows his dark side. What do you gain by offending people? You only gain their antipathy. How does it feel to experience such aloneness?" [Even you Aldo haters must admit this is a classy approach.]

"You haven't seen my darkest side yet!" Ariel threatens as he leaves.

Alicia falls all over Aldo, stroking and cooing, to Tomas's chagrin. Aldo tells Tomas, who's complaining: "You were valiant, you showed the beast you have inside, I'm proud of you." He peels Alicia off his body and says he needs to see Lety.

In Lety's office

Aldo and Lety have a few cheery words before the phone rings - it's Mom - "Your father wants to know when you'll be home?" Erasmo snatches the phone and emphasizes that Lety promised to be home early. "You may be president but as long as you live in this house there are rules."

Aldo whispers it's ok, don't worry about our dinner date, so Lety says she'll be home soon. She tells Aldo she wanted to go to dinner with him, he says he had important things to say but they can wait, how about they go running at dawn? "I'm dying of curiosity to know what you want to tell me." "Don't you know why I came to the city? It wasn't for work. I want to talk about you and me."

He leaves. Lety flashes back to Marcia [who's been wearing this hideous white belt for aeons] complaining about the cuartel Knowing All about the great secret of Fern and Lety. Lety can't get them on the phone. She goes in the hall and Alicia says the cuartel's been gone for hours. "Oh, I didn't notice how late it is. Well, Marcia has a complaint..." "Oh, are they going to get fired?" Alicia asks hopefully. "No, it's just about gossip, and I'm not going to spread it any further." Lety leaves and Alicia says "I suppose it's about her and Fern, I know all that, I'm no fool."

Lety goes back to her office and writes in her diary, which she now keeps at Conceptos to be "safe" - "I need Aldo, he illuminates me with his gorgeous smile, we're good friends..." (Cut to Aldo thought-bubbling: "Haven't you noticed I'm in love with you?") "If it weren't for Aldo," she writes, "I couldn't resist Fern - I'll keep struggling to forget him until he's not my first and only thought every day." (Cut to Fern, flipping through the Cards of Memory and fondling Lety's stuffed animals. "I had to rescue them, they are my mementos of a beautiful love - well, it's a little sad now - but still beautiful.")

In Omar's office

Fern is pacing. "Can't you be still for one moment? You're like a referree at a soccer game." "I suppose Lety will go out with that Alllldo." "The theme of Aldo, which bores me profoundly, is beginning to wear you out, look in the mirror, you're a wraith, and you're like a br-br-broken record. I, for one, have a date with a chocolatito from the Czech Republic. How do you say 'I love you' in Czech?"

Fern makes up some ridiculous guttural nonsense which Omar practices on his way out the door, offering over his shoulder - "you can use the chair now."

Fern jumps into the chair, fires up the computer to pictures of Lety, and mopes.

desgastarse = become tired, wear oneself out

In the hall and Luigi's office

Alicia snags Aldo as he passes, asking if he's ready for dinner. "Actually, I'm kind of tired..." "But I have a super secret secret to tell you ..." when she looks away to pat and stroke herself he grins at her ridiculous behavior but when she looks back he snaps his serious, concerned face of "grave interest" back into place. "Why not tell me here and now?" "It's about (thrusts boobs even further than usual) our Pre-si-den-ta, about what kind of person she is."

He's saved by Luigi, who runs her off and says Aldo needs to talk to the composer of the music themes. "We'll talk later, Alicia." She thinks tonight is her lucky night. Strokes and pats self. [I can't stand any more of this - Ed.]

Luigi complains to Caro that Rully has become so possessive, "we're light-years apart." "Have you given him reason to be jealous - like, say, ALLLDO?" "OK, as always you're right, Aldo makes me nutty, he's the man of my dreams." "Does he feel the same?" "I'll make him feel the same." "As your friend, I must tell you he's in love with another woman." "Can he forget her, do you think?" "Luigi, listen, I don't want you to suffer, Aldo isn't g..." "NO I WON'T LISTEN LA-LA-LA..." Caro leaves.

Luigi complains to Rully por telefono and says: "you never tell me anything." As Rully starts to speak, Aldo comes in to say goodbye. Luigi says, "Yes, Aldo, you go rest, because it's been a LLLOOOONNNNNGGGG day." [Tell us about it -- Ed.] Luigi watches longingly as Aldo leaves, in a reverie, the phone drooping limply from his hand. When he remembers it, he discovers Rully has hung up. "Rully, this is exactly what I was talking about," he scolds the dial tone.

Marcia in her awful belt is subjected to the Oxy's recount of her rescue by Alllldo. Marcia notes Ariel's part in the story and muses: "I'm worried about my brother," but Alicia is focused on one thing: "Aldo wants me." "No, he stood up for you because he's a gentleman, it doesn't mean he wants you."

Back in Lety's office

Tomas comes in to take her home. She tells him she'll be running in the morning with Aldo. "Lety, be careful, if you go too near the trees you'll scare the squirrels." "Well, if I scare them with my ugliness, Aldo will bring them back to life por guapo - with his sexiness."

OK you non-Spanish speakers, I expect by now you have learned this word, let's all say it together and from now on we don't have to translate it: GUAPO = GOOD-LOOKING & SEXY.

"So Aldo is guapo?" "Yes, very." Tomas sulks, she asks why, he hesitates but then says, "Don Ariel was offending my girl (chica)" "Your chica?" "My chica, my love, my life, Alicia Ferreira... I defended her with energy and decisiveness, but then sexxxy Alllldo came meddling in the fight... he stole my victory..." "I'm sure sexxxxy Alldo was only trying to help." "Why does everybody love Aldo?" "Because he's a great guy - but so are you - your only defect is that you keep trying to conquer Alicia." "That's love - the heart rules."

Back in the hall

Marcia knocks on Fern's door to ask his plans, he says he'll go back to her apartment with her. As he gathers his things, Marcia asks Alicia where the new stockings came from, and Alicia is forced to admit Tomas gave them to her. "Tomas? What shame!" "I prefer one humiliation to two dozen humiliations - everybody here - including you - except Aldo - kept making fun of me."

Alicia asks when Marcia's coming to pick her up in the morning - I'm not - well I can't take the microbus - if I come it's with Fern - ok I'll take the microbus... "Alicia, why don't you ask Aldo?" "Oh I can't do that, we've just started dating, I can't give my address. That'll have to wait one little week more."

Tomas and Lety, leaving, pass Fern and Marcia in the hall. Fern and Lety exchange a brusque goodbye, Marcia says nothing. Fern is silent. "Amor. Amor! Do you want to leave with me?" She takes his arm with a look she wishes could be a securely smug one. They leave.

Alicia lies in wait and springs out as Aldo passes, saying "You're punctual, remember, you invited me to dinner." "I don't remember a formal appointment?..." "I don't want to pressure you but - where's your car, I want you to take me to a great restaurant!" "I don't have a car." "QUE????!!! (Muy impactada) I thought you'd have a spanking new sports car." She snags a taxi which zips right past Tomas and Lety to stop at her feet. Neither Tomas nor Lety is pleased to see Aldo getting in the taxi with the Oxy. (Fern and Marcia see this, too.) Tomas runs after the taxi and Lety thought-bubbles: "better alone than with bad company."

At the bar (as if you cared)

The cuartel and Sanchez enter, table for seven, they are loud and rowdy, their hi-jinx keep Sanchez from pawing and dribbling on Sara. "I'm so near [to Sara] and yet so far."

In the taxi

"Aldo, I know a great place where we can eat quietly, it's delicious." "What type?" "It's Le Noir (he rolls eyes at pretentiousness), when you get to the door there're all these guys with really really expensive sports cars, everything is luxurious, high society ..."

"But I meant, what kind of food?" "It's international and from all over the world (he rolls eyes again), the menu doesn't have prices in it, having prices would be in bad taste, besides it's really really expensive..."

"Alicia, has nobody ever suggested to you that the most expensive isn't always the best?" [TELL IT, BROTHER!!! - Ed.] "Are you serious?" He laughs, saying she enchants him. "Ah, others have said so too, but I'm glad you think so." He suggests he take her to a place 'de lujo' which he knows. "Yes, OK, because I want you te be comfy and relaxed when I tell you what I know - so take me where you like."

Lety gets home

She tells her mom about the picture Aldo gave her a month ago (I mean earlier in the day). Mom says, "I thought about Aldo all day, he's a sweetheart." "Yeah, I guess." "Why so disenchanted?" "I saw him leaving with Alicia." "You sound a little jealous." "I am, but just as a friend - it hurt Tomas to see that. ... but why HER? I know him, and she's such a materialist, he doesn't go for that."

I was never so glad to see the golden circle of goodbye. It is now 9:36 am, friends. Goodbye till next time.

Duelo Monday Feb 19-Grouchy Emilio pouts and rants while Gaspar and Tonki save the day!

Orlando is talking to the recuperating Emilio who is seated in a chair. Emilio demands to know where Flor is and why he can't see her. Orlando puts him off saying that the doctor wanted her to stay away until he was totally better and that maybe today or tomorrow…but right now he (Orlando) needed to go to meet with the civil engineers from the construction company who had arrived on the site for the new highway yesterday. Emilio is ticked that he can't go and do his job and he can't see Flor.

Santos, Flor and Gaspar are sitting by the river. Santos gets up and says goodbye, he's going to try to get a job building the highway. Flor and Gaspar plot to escape from Sierra Escondida. Gaspar frets that the bus routes are too far away, maybe a horse? Flor suddenly remembers that Don Max promised to help her escape. Gaspar is doubtful, he doesn't trust Don Max. Flor says, what the heck, might as well ask. And they set off for La Rinconada. (For all the drama of being kicked out of La Riconada, Flor has certainly been able to come and go as she pleases, right under everybody's noses). Gaspar says my munequita! and jumps up to go. Tonki comes too.

Frank and Orlando are walking through the hallways of La Rinconda, chatting about Emilio. Orlando's in uniform and Frank is in his civvies. Frank is lamenting that Emilio still thinks he's married to Flor, not Thelma and also shouldn't they be telling General Ochoa about what happened to Emilio? Orlando puts him off saying, I'm taking care of it and he orders Frank not to do anything on his own to tell Emilio or alert the authorities. Frank says he and Jaime are going into town and he leaves Orlando in the Great room.

Orlando sits down and smiles wickedly to himself. " I'll go see Flor. I have to make her mine now that Emilio is not my rival."

At Don & Dona Loco's hacienda Adela is greeting Blanca, with her roll aboard suitcase. Blanco asks if Soledad is at home, or Alina. Adela says that Soledad is unwell and then gets very nervous and says she'll tell Don Loco that she's here.

On his way out, Frank has stopped to talk to the convalescing Emilio. Emilio tries to pump him for information about Flor but Frank says he doesn't know anything and his buds are waiting for him in San Mateo and he has to go. Emilio says not to tell General Ochoa anything about what happened. Frank says no problem, Orlando already gave the order. Frank leaves and Emilio is left, still confused.

Blanca and Don Loco have a cordial meeting. She tells him that Elias is heading up the construction team building the highway. Don Loco is impactado to know that Elias is nearby. Blanca says she's supposed to stay with him at some temporary shacks built for the workers but she was wondering if the Locos could put her up at the hacienda instead. She says that she knows that Soledad is unwell. Don Loco says, here, let me get you a drink and explain things to you.

Meanwhile, Adela is doing some cleaning in Soledad's room and they are talking. Soledad says, "so Blanca is here?" Adela tells Soledad that she told Blanca that her mistress wasn't feeling well. Next thing you know, Soledad is getting that pleading look in her eyes that she always gets when she wants Adela to do something against Don Loco's wishes. Yes, she wants Adela's help to help her talk to Blanca so that she can tell her what Don Loco has done to us (i.e. Soledad and Alina). Adela doesn't even try to argue this time. She's says she'll do what she can, even though she knows that Don Loco will make this difficult.

Flor makes a run for it into la Rinconada. She orders Tonki to stay behind and Gaspar waits for his chance to sneak in and see his munequita.

Emilio is with Angel and Nurse Susi who is trying to get him to take his medicine. Emilio complains that the meds make him sleepy. Angel says good, you should be resting. Emilio is still upset that Flor is not around. Angel says, we've already explained to you why she can't be around. Emilio pouts.

Another scene with Thelma bitching to her Auntie about the nausea and discomfort of her belly. Ends with her flopping on her bed yet again.

Gaspar is down in the kitchen of la Rinconada whining that he wants to come in to see his munequita. Vera and her husband are alarmed and tell him he should go away but he just keeps whining that he wants to come in.

Back at the other Hacienda, Don Loco and Blanca are talking about Soledad. Blanca asks, what does the Doctor say? Don Loco says that Soledad's madness has no explanation. "Does Alina know?" asks Blanca? Don Loco shakes his head. "Alina's still in Europe. Her life is there now." Blanca asks if she can do something for Soledad. Don Loco says that there's nothing to do, Adela takes care of her. In fact, its better that she not get any visitors, it just freaks her out. Blanca asks if she can at least see her. "Maybe she'll snap out of it if she sees me." Don Loco says he'll think about it and talk to Soledad. But in the meantime, he'll ask the servants to prepare a room for her. He wants to know more about the highway.

Don Max is messing with his bullwhip when Flor comes in. " I was told that you wanted to see me," he says in that oily way of his. Flor says, I need your help. I want to escape from Sierra Escondida. Not only is Don Max impactado but he starts choking on his cigarillo. Flor is a bit taken aback but she says she can't take it anymore. Her Dad hates her, Emilio is married, there's nothing to keep her there. Don Max says, you'd leave your Mother? Flor says, that's why I want to leave. I want to end her suffering. Flor says all she wants from Don Max is a horse to get to San Mateo where she can pick up the bus. Don Max says yes. Smiles all around, Flor leaves and the plan is for Gaspar to come very early in the morning to La Riconada to pick up the horse. As soon as Flor is out the door, Don Max starts having second thoughts. He's worried about what Don Alvaro will say.

Now for a stint in Mexico City with the Marianita-Mariana storyline. In her hospital bed, Marianita is laughing at a puppet show with a puppet doctor being put on by Dr. Love, aka. Dr. Fonseca, aka Dr. Chirin (the clown doctor). Dr. Fonseca even has a clown bowtie and a fake red nose to accompany his usual hospital whites. He is really getting into it. Mariana enters the room and Dr. Fonseca makes time with her using the puppet, which I find a little creepy actually. Mariana plays along. Marianita is so well recovered that she sits up to wave the puppet goodbye but first she tells the puppet "a secret" (which is audible to both of the adults) "I wish I had a Daddy like him (meaning Dr. Fonseca). Dr Fonseca and Mariana look at each other a little uncomfortably.

Of course the next stop is Central America where shirtless Jose, sweating like a mule is chopping firewood for the rebel/drug runners with Arcadio. They stop for a minute and two of the rebels come to rebuke them about taking a rest. (Sidebar #1: Man, I want no part of their revolution.) ( Sidebar #2: Jose appears to be wearing a scapular, which is like a religious medal made of cloth. I don't remember him wearing it before and it looks awfully clean and fresh if he's been in the mountains chopping wood from dusk to dawn for months. I don't think the rebels would be stocking them.) Felicia shows up and tells the men to leave Jose alone, which they do, grudgingly. She hands him a bag with some bread inside and asks him if he wants to see her tonight. Jose says, you've been very nice to me…"Yeah yeah," says Felicia "I know, you've got a woman waiting for you. I never said I wanted you to marry me…But we're both alone right now." Jose isn't really interested in anything else either, he says. He thanks her for the food and sets it down and gets back to work. Felicia stands there looking pensive.

All the way back at Luba's cave, Flor is packing her few items. Luba is cross. She's afraid of what Don Loco will do to her when he finds out she's gone. Flor says just to tell him that she escaped. (Like she's done a zillion times already.) Luba then admits that she is unhappy that Flor is leaving, because she will miss her. Flor says she'll never forget her nor Gaspar, and she asks her to take care of Tonki. Plus she's coming back soon, she has to save her mother. When she gets to San Mateo, she'll stay with Santo's mom Carmen and then it's off to Puebla to find her godparents Blanca and Elias. (Uh Oh!)

Don Max is talking to Emilio. Emilio asks about Coral. Don Max explains that she's still living at the hacienda, but she's working at the Meson de Eldelmira as a dancer. "And doing quite well," says Don Max laughing. "She'd like to see you." Emilio says no, he doesn't want to see anybody…except Flor. Don Max says Flor isn't at la Riconada. Emilio says he knows this but he wants to know why not. Don Max holds him off saying, "You're not well enough to know the truth." Emilio immediately becomes agitated and says "What truth?!" "Max hastily beats a retreat, saying he has to go tell Coral that she can't see him." Emilio fusses over this "truth" that nobody is telling him.

Back to Soledad. She's wrapping a bunch of sheets together, whispering to herself that she's got to make Alvaro think she's really crazy. When he enters the room, she picks up the bundle and cradles it, like a baby and calls it Alina. Don Loco tells her that Blanca is there and Soledad pretends not to remember Blanca and when he tells her to be careful not to tell her anything about what's going on, Soledad says "about what?" Don Loco seems satisfied by these answers and leaves.

Don Max and Coral are hanging out together in Don Max's study. Don Max wonders aloud what will happen to Emilio when he finds out that he's not married to Flor, he's married to Thelma. Coral is impactado. I guess she's been out of the loop.

Orlando is over at Luba's cave, asking after Flor. Luba gives the standard answer. She doesn't know where Flor is. Orlando complains that he's been there a bunch of times and she's always gone. Luba says, yeah well, she's always out. Orlando leaves in a huff while Luba puts another hole in the table with her knife. Flor is actually around and is glad Luba covered for her. ( I just noticed that the shirt she's wearing has something in handwriting on the chest. I can't make it out though. It looks like "Guyababellisima"? "Gringobellisima"? No clue. Maybe somebody else with a better TV than mine can. ) Flor just wants to get out of there.

Blanca enters Soledad's Room. Blanca looks ready to be convinced that Soledad is nuts. She's holding her fake baby. Without a word, Soledad goes to the door to check if someone is watching and closes it. She rushes back to Blanca and says, "I'm not crazy!" and hugs her.

Meanwhile, Emilio, sleeping, has an orange flashback of what happened, how he got shot at the wedding by Don Loco. He is agitated again that he can't figure out what happened after that. He has to find out. He goes back to sleep sighing about Flor.

Back at the cave, Flor is thinking of Emilio and crying. It's one of those telenovela telepathy moments.

Soledad has just finished telling Blanca her story. Blanca is impactada. She can't believe Don Loco would accuse her of such a thing. Blanca is ready to help her old friend. In the meantime, Soledad says, she'll continue to fake crazy until she and Blanca figure out a way to stop Don Loco, save Alina and free Soledad.

Don Loco at the same time is trying to make his own plans. Blanca is trouble. She'll figure out what's going on eventually. And Elias, "he was always after my wife." "I've got to find a way to get rid of them." He says, puffing away at his long cigarillo. There's knock at the door. It's Don Max who has come to fink on Flor, that she's going to try to escape Sierra Escondida tomorrow. Don Loco is impactado and chokes on his cigarillo. He says that she's going to be sorry for disobeying him again.

The next scene is tomorrow. Gaspar has gotten the horse and he and Flor are riding across a little stone bridge and a beautiful arch covered with purple bougainvillea. Vera's husband wishes them well on their way.

Cut to Emilio who is yelling at Nurse Susi that he's not going to take any more of that disgusting stuff (referring to the medicine). He uses one of my favorite descriptive words in the Spanish language, "porqueria." It just sounds so awful. He tells Nurse Susi to leave him alone. He decides to get out of his room and go for a walk.

Flor and Gaspar are continuing to try to escape from SE, when they meet up with her Dad's henchman, Sergio (guess he's not needed to guard Soledad anymore, since she's supposed to be crazy). Sergio points a shotgun at them and says "Where do you think you are going?"

Emilio starts poking around in the various bedrooms and finds Thelma in her nightie and robe. Thelma starts in with the "what are you doing walking around, my love…"yaddah yaddah but Emilio will have none of it. He wants to know what Thelma is doing there in his house. "I thought Orlando had already told you," says Thelma. "Told me what?" replies Emilio. "I came here to talk to my wife." "Your wife?" says Thelma, "But I'm your wife, honey!" Emilio should be impactado but instead he just looks grouchy. He insists that he remembers being married to Flor in church by the padre. Thelma tells him that before they got to finish their vows, Don Loco shot him. "And then I showed up and Flor convinced the padre to let me marry you on your deathbed."

Back to Gaspar and Flor, with Sergio brandishing his weapon. Gaspar dismounts and tries to grab the gun from Sergio. After a brief struggle, Sergio hits Gaspar on head with the butt of his gun and takes off looking for Flor. Gaspar has sacrificed himself so that Flor can get away!

Emilio is having it out with Thelma. He's supremely P.O.'d at her for taking advantage of him while he was unconscious. He yells at her that he's going to anull the marriage. He grabs her and starts shaking her. Thelma cries for help. Auntie rushes in and tries to pull Emilio away. Next Don Max and Angel. They convince him to leave and tell him to calm down, that this was the reason they couldn't tell him in the first place. Meanwhile, Aunt Rebecca comforts Thelma. Don Max gives them a strange look. I wonder if he's thinking what I'm thinking. Lady, like you didn't KNOW this was going to happen eventually.

Blanca is having Breakfast with Don Loco. Blanca agrees that Soledad is completely off her rocker. Don Loco says, really she shouldn't see her anymore and it would be better if she would go stay with her husband. Don Loco gives in for the time being and says he has to hurry off to the coffee fields but he asks that she not disturb Soledad "Because she was really upset from your visit yesterday." After he leaves, Blanca says to nobody in particular, "Alvaro is completely crazy. And Alina, What my poor godchild must have suffered."

At that very moment, Alina/Flor is making her way though a thicket trying to evade Sergio and his shotgun. Maybe she should have found something else than a white shirt to wear. Eventually he finds her.

Orlando is back bugging Luba about Flor's whereabouts. Eventually, she gives it up that Flor has left the Sierra and probably won't be back. Orlando is ticked. Luba slyly hands him a bunch of marigolds to help him change his luck in love, or something like that. Orlando taking it as the insult that it is, throws the marigolds on the table and leaves.

Thelma is in bed complaining of pains and nausea from the shock that Emilio gave her. Auntie tries to comfort her. Don Max is less gracious. "Why'd you have to tell him?" Thelma sticks out her chin, "He had to know sooner or later." Don Max slips out to go call the doctor. Thelma continues to rant that Emilio will just have to resign himself to being married to her. She's going to be his wife until she dies. (Oh Ho, Lady, be careful what you wish for! I can see where this is headed. The only question is now is how?)

Angel is still trying to calm Emilio down, back in Emilio's room. Emilio is ranting about how can he calm down, he's married to THELMA! Angel goes to check on when the Doctor is getting there.

Alina/Flor manages to break free from Sergio and takes off. Sergio fires a shot at her and misses (what is it with these guys?) and she continues to gallop down the road.

Back in his room, sitting on the edge of his bed, Emilio is stewing about Flor and why she lied and said that she was married to him. Angel comes in announces that Dr Vasquez has arrived. Emilio says he doesn't want to see anyone.

Sergio is catching up to her, so Alina/Flor jumps off her horse and tries to cross a creek. But it's not a creek, it's some kind of muddy hole. She cries out to Sergio to help her but Sergio just tells her to go to hell and leaves.

Blanca is with Elias at his "shack." It's actually pretty nice, albeit spare with rattan furniture and Ikea type lamps and furnishings. Blanca fills Elias in on what's going down at Hacienda Loco. Elias agrees that they've got to do something to help Soledad and Alina. He's ready to rush over there right now but Blanca stops him and says that he's got to wait while they figure out a plan, otherwise they'll expose Soledad's trick of faking madness.

Flor is sinking fast in the pit and crying out for help. Along comes Tonki, she tells him to go find Gaspar.

Back in Mexico city, in the hospital Malena is visiting Mariana and Marianita (who is asleep). Malena prods Mariana about Dr. Fonseca and how "that" is going. Mariana dismisses her lurid speculations. Mariana insists that Dr Fonseca knows that she is engaged. Malena sighs and says she's going to end up waiting…and Jose is probably already hooked up with some other woman. Mariana says she doesn't believe it. She has an orange flashback of her and Jose getting it on in secret and making plans and promises for the future. Malena tells her to wake up, that years have passed and she hasn't heard a word from Jose.

Every time there is a Mariana scene, we are getting a Jose scene, so here it is. Jose and Arcadio are sitting down eating. Jose is lamenting his fling with Felicia. Arcadio says he has nothing to worry about with that. Men have needs…And this chick is flaunting herself at you and saying she just wants an affair. The only thing you need to worry about his that Felicia is the big guy's sister. And if he finds out… Jose says, he knows, and that's why he's got to make another attempt at escaping soon. Arcadio shakes his head and tries to argue with him that he's tried and failed to escape many times. All he does is make his life harder with these guys.

Emilio is chastising Angel. "How could you all let Thelma do this to me?" Angel begs off, saying he had nothing to do with it. He was sick in his cabin, away from the Hacienda. Angel says there's nothing that can be done, he might as well get used to it. Angel says he'll talk to him later about his own feelings about what went down.

Orlando is out looking for Flor on horseback. Tonki finds the unconscious Gaspar and tries to wake him up. Flor is still sinking in the mud.

Don Loco, wearing a white hat for once is stewing about the highway. He's now combining his hatred for Elias, "who was always in love with my wife" with his hatred of the new highway, since Elias is there helping to build it. After awhile he tells Rutilio that he has something to do, he's got to go somewhere. Just then, Sergio rides up and tells him that he's got Flor trapped in a mud hole, sinking. Don Loco blows a gasket. He doesn't want her dead, just back with that old witch in the cave. They go off to try to save her.

Thelma is having pains and she says she hopes that she miscarries "esa maldita esquinkle." Don Max brings the doctor in.

Tonki manages to wake up Gaspar and he gets up to look for Flor

Emilio and Angel are still arguing. Emilio insists that he is going to annul the marriage. Angel asks him about the child Thelma is carrying. Emilio still doesn't even believe she's pregnant. "We'll see in a few months." Just then Doctor Vasquez enters and confirms that Thelma is pregnant and what's more she was in danger of miscarrying. He gave her something and now has ordered her to rest. And Emilio too should get some rest. Emilio looks grouchy again.

Flor is now up to her neck in mud and is still crying out for help, she's got Don Loco and Sergio, Gaspar and Tonki and Orlando all out looking for her. Who will get there first?

It's Gaspar! Even though he is supposed to be an idiot, manages to rip off a branch and she grabs hold and he drags her to safety. He tells her to calm down and she is worried that her father knows where she is so they have to get to San Mateo before he finds them.

Orlando, who had apparently given up searching for Flor is back at la Rinconada and is complaining to Emilio about some problems with the highway project, getting machinery up the mountain. Emilio only wants to talk about how everybody screwed him over by letting Thelma marry him while he was unconscious. He calls Orlando "amigo," with sufficient irony. "What I still can't understand is why Flor let them do it." "What did Thelma do to convince her? How much money was she paid?" Orlando looks disapprovingly and shakes his head. I agree with Orlando this time. What a jerk you are Emilio, to blame Flor for this fiasco.

Gaspar and Emilio are on an overlook viewing San Mateo from afar. Gaspar says that he can't go on, he has to take the horse and Tonki back. But there's the road. "The road to your freedom," says Gaspar, in a moment of peculiar eloquence. They hug each other and Flor starts down the road, completely filthy from the adventure with the mud hole. Tonki barks and Gaspar holds him back. Flor turns around and waves. She's on her way!
