La Fea Más Bella #185 1/10/07 Fer gets whooped and, makes nice nice with Marcia, Aldo's past haunts then goes, & he and Lety spend the night together!!!!

And your recapper enjoys her first with the clarity of captions. Ahhhhhh....

We open with Marcia getting the bar address and running down the people mover at the airport to get to Fernando’s rescue at the bar.

At La Fuga bar (The Flight – as in escape – I figure it’s a play on Fern’s rush from Mexico City.) our famous guest actor bar man, Leonardo, uh Librado, uh, Liberetto uh Libardo helps pick up Fernando AGAIN. Fer keeps saying he’s sorry. The barman tells him to stop already. As he staggers around trying to get a balance and still swinging randomly in front of the guys, the lady in red begs her friends to leave the poor thing alone. Fer’s so distraught and drunkenly arrogant that no one is off limits. He starts in on her now too. He tells her boyfriend how beautiful this girlfriend is that she has compassion for him (Fer) and that he doesn’t deserve it, nor does the boyfriend even deserve it, he continues towards her with his arms open asking if she would like to console him. She’s not that shy though, and she asks him why he said that to her boyfriend and then he dared to punch him too. She calls him desgaciado as she too smacks him across the face! He starts to push her and she pulls away.

Uh oh. That really does it. He earns the group soccer practice exercise. He’s the ball. Ouch. Ouch Ouch Ouch as all five Luchadores kick him repeatedly! He says it doesn’t hurt a few times, then at the end, he agrees it hurts now.

Julieta and Moty continue from the diary. I’d really love to see more of Moty. “It’s not worth bringing up again because this is the same story that has repeated since I was born. Is to be ugly to be so fragile? Is that why I fall for the first one that gets near me, even though I know he’s engaged, and that I know very clearly that I’m doing the wrong thing?"

They carry Fer out to the entrance again. Why don’t they put him outside already! If I were the bar owner I wouldn’t want a drunk laying in my entryway; that can’t be good for respectable business, you know! Fer remarks that he doesn’t like this spot where they have put him. Our guest bartender of the day comes out and says they shouldn’t be inhuman and that they should probably call a paramedic. He remarks that a woman called and she is coming to get him. The bouncer remarks "Don’t worry this poor guy isn’t going to get up, not unless they bring a crane!" Libardo tells the doorman to take the cell to give to the Senora.

At dinner, Aldo’s papa talks about how the construction business depends on the economy of the country. Aldo interrupts, but you yourself have been fine, no? Papa continues well yes, in the last few years his business helped construct two hydroelectric plants, 3 freeways and the airport for an intermediate size city. Lety makes faces from across the table for Aldo to keep up appearances with a smile. Papa sort of catches her and she kind of fakes like it’s hot or the food is spicy or something. Aldo eventually can’t ignore her and he starts laughing. Papa -Why are you laughing when I’m telling you about business deals? A-It’s just that my friend Leticia would like to say something to you but I don’t understand what it is. Lety what would you like to tell my father? Oooh, he put her on the spot to cover his butt, sneaky.

Lety struggles but then has to shout “if both of you are sure you want me to say something.” “You two have had a problem for many years and you haven’t seen each other and now you are meeting as if nothing happened? Sorry, but I don’t understand.” The men look at each other sort of impactados.

Fer does manage to get up again and tries to offer the doorman a tip to let him in again, but he won’t have it this time, even for a tip, so Fer pretends that he wants to hug him and apologize, that he needs some affection, but while he’s doing this and calling him his brother, he knees the guy right in the nuts! That smarts! He exclaims that nobody prohibits him from anything and he walks, well, staggers back into the bar. Now that was a class A A-hole move.

Back at dinner Papa confesses to Lety it’s always been very difficult for him to talk about his feelings and emotions. Aldo says that’s why he just wants to forget it all and leave things behind them. Aldo says the only important thing is that we are together again. Lety apologizes for saying something so imprudent. Papa says, “ No on the contrary after you left that message, I told myself that thanks to you I got back in touch with my son. Thank you. A-Papa – Pa – No, let me speak because I have much to say: With the passing of the years, and the loss of your mother, and as I get older I realized that I was too uncompromising with you. A –Well, and I was stubborn because I wanted to be a chef. Papa it’s just that I want you to understand that I was only defending my ideals. Papa- Of course, I understand your ideals. I missed you very much. Every night I wanted to look for you but I didn’t dare. Aldo agrees they have the same pride. Pa -Did you get want you wanted? Are you a great chef? A- I don’t know if I’m such a great chef but what’s important is that I’m doing what I love, living as I want. I swear I’m truly happy, Pa. Tears by both. Awe…..

Fer goes back into the bar and all the patrons are impactados that he came back and start screaming at him. Librado pleads and begs him to leave saying they will kill him. Fer gives him a hug and mumbles that his life isn’t worth anything. Fer then collapses on their table and knocks over the drinks. Our red dress lady screams.

Back at dinner Aldo and his Papa argue over the check and Aldo tells him to please let him pay for the first time; that it would be a great honor to pay the check for his Dad, so the Dad agrees. Lety says that Aldo is a great chef with a beautiful house and an incredible motorcycle, he’s writing a book and he wants to open a chain of restaurants. This pleases papa. Aldo says papa will think he brought her here to spread propaganda. Lety assures him she’s not lying and she could keep going on. Aldo tells his Dad that next time he can come to visit. Don Fausto tells him how happy it has made him to see Aldo again. Aldo agrees. Papa apologizes for having to leave but the helicopter is waiting for him, he has to go to Monterrey in the morning to supervise a building site.

Leti! Papa says what a real pleasure it was to meet her. She too. He really cares about both of them. Pa – I’m so overcome with emotion that I almost forgot, two years ago this letter arrived at my house. Because we were distanced from each other, I saved it. He gives it to Aldo. Turns out it’s a letter from Esther Barhona. Lety asks who that is?

Back at the bar, Fer is passed out on the table. The lady in red asks if he wants them to take him someplace in particular. Her boyfriend searches him and pulls out his wallet. The girl reads aloud that he is the President of Conceptos? He arouses and yes EX, EX. The girl says now you aren’t president? He says no, just put me here, leave me here please.

Marcia runs in screaming his name and asking what they did to him. She asks what happened to him. Barman says he came in acting as if he wanted someone to kill him. The guy says Fer was an aggressive drunk and he kept attacking us, and really we did nothing. They say he’s an aggressive guy and he should be locked up. M quiets him and they get up to go. Fer yells after the luchadores as they leave, “You are going now? It was a pleasure to meet you.” He finally get the barman’s name right only to screw it up again. She is bawling. Her cell phone rings and it’s Mama Tere. Marci tells her that she’s with Fernando now. Fer yells “Mama.” While on the phone to Tere M is crying and telling Fer that’s enough. Tere should be wondering in what dire straights M has found him since she’s bawling so much, but, it doesn’t appear she asks, so Marcia tells her “yes, ok” and hangs up.

Lety and Aldo are now wandering on the beach. Aldo holds the letter and says he’s going to throw it in the ocean. Lety stops him, “she caused you that much pain?” He tells her yes, that the letter is from his sister-in-law and from the date it looks as if it were written just after the death. L- You really don’t want to know what’s in the letter? A continues that he abandoned everything after he found out about his wife, his house, his job, and the sister was probably looking for me and it is probably just a condolence letter that arrived a little too late. L- Ok, well if you are afraid to confront the past then don’t, I’ll make a roll and throw it in for you. A-Ok, how come I always understand your message? Let’s read it then, and he tears it open.

As Marcia carries Fer out, the doorman covers his privates as he passes. Fer says he can do it himself. M asks where is a hospital. The doorman starts to explain when Fer pulls her back and says he’s not going to any hospital. Marcia tells him this is enough already. He says ok and gives her a hug. She says let’s go your car is just outside. He says no, he wants his car in here. Besides I want to go to my house right now. She says well your house is really far in case you don’t remember you drove like a crazy man to Acapulco! You are in Aca! F -Aha, of course, the boat! Regardless, he wants to go by himself. She tells him they’ll make a pact. He comes with her and she promises not to take him to the hospital and she’ll be quiet the whole way back to the City. He hugs barman again. He says, but he'll drive then, because he knows how she is when she is all emotional, she might crash. She rolls her eyes. F mutters to his instant best friend bar man that, “I’ll come back. I’ll leave her in the City and then I’ll come back here in a bit.” Barman says no thank you. Go.

At the beach Aldo begins to read the letter:
My beloved Aldo. As I write I’m still crying about the recent death of my sister. I didn’t know where to find you so I sent this card to your father’s house. I thought it was urgent because it didn’t seem fair for you to go around with the wrong idea of Leonora. Yes, it’s true she was going with your best friend. But she did it because she loved you too much. Leonora was afraid that you didn’t love her as much as she loved you. She decided to test you and to make you jealous, so she slept with your best friend, and the only thing that she got was death.

Aldo asks why so much insanity. My only error was loving her without jealousy. Why would she try to demonstrate her love by making me jealous. Why? Lety says she doesn’t know, that jealousy is the tomb of love.

Julieta now having read everything, tells herself she knew that Lety was suffering for something, but she never imagined it was this bad. She’s mad that Leti told her diary instead of her mother who gave her life and could get rid of her tears. [Um, I get that one....] Erasmo calls her and she snaps out of it and runs down.

Aldo rereads passages from the letter and Lety notes he’s doing the same thing she did when she kept rereading Omar’s letter. Aldo asks if it made her feel better or at least not as bad?. She says no worse. Each time more offended and hurt. He says Leonora died two years ago and he’s over it now. She asks him if her betrayal still hurts him. He says no, for that this letter worked. I see that it was my ego that was suffering, my vanity offended. Deep inside I felt indignant because I was traded for my best friend. Lety says no one could exchange you for anyone else. You see she didn’t, she just wanted to make you jealous. He says how unhealthy, but I have to understand that was her story.. L- And now what is the fire saying to you? A -The fire tells me that I need to cleanse my heart and get rid of this absurd resentment. It also tells me that jealousy isn’t love and it needs to disappear forever. He bids his dead wife adieu forever as he throws the letter into the fire.

Back at Casa Padilla Julieta is summoned by Erasmo for his daily feed. He is mad that he goes around the streets trying to earn the daily bread and when he gets home there is nothing ready for dinner and not even a pot on the stove. Ooooh I just wanted to punch him!!!! But alas, it’s their world. Julieta tells him she’ll fix something in a jiffy, and he remarks how he doesn’t like improvised dishes. She says it’s not improvised, just quick. He reaches for a bottle of tequilita and she asks him what he’s doing telling him she doesn’t like to see him drink alcohol and reminds him the last time he drank he lost his daughter. He says fine he won’t. She is upset for reading about what happened but of course can’t let Erasmo know. She does admit she misses Leti very much and wants to hold her. E does too.

Marcia and Fer are back in Mexico at her apartment. It would have been close to a four hour drive in the middle of the night (assuming they didn’t leave his cute little car in Aca.) and doesn’t her hair just look so smart!! She leads him to the bedroom calling him her love, he looks at her and she says sorry, Fernando.

At the beach in a tender moment Lety touches Aldo then retracts and ruffled says she better get back to the hotel because it’s almost morning and she will have to sleep a few hours. Aldo asks her if she doesn’t want to wait to watch the sunrise with him. She says without sleeping? He tells her for him it will be something very important, it will be like being reborn after the insolent night.

M thinks they should call a doctor. He thinks it’s better to summon an exorcist to conduct an exorcism on him. He can’t stand it any more. She says she’s going to take care of him, and give him a sedative so he can sleep. He says he can’t sleep here in her house. He tells her he doesn’t want to offend her. He thinks it’s unjust that she came to Aca just for him. She tells him she could never abandon him. He wonders why she is doing this and he feels bad she saw him in this state. She says not to worry about that. M –Even though there is nothing between us any more I can’t just stand back with my arms crossed and let you destroy yourself…She tells him what she feels for him is greater than anything.…Fer leans up to look at the picture of them together that is still on display in her room.

Back at the beach Lety and Aldo are in the sunlight of dawn (though I swear from the position of the sun it looks to be near afternoon. Oh silly me, I keep forgetting we are in telenovela land. ;) She says she’s never seen the sunrise on the beach, it’s marvelous! Ok it’s a gift to you, Aldo says, the beach, the ocean, the dawn, all a gift to you. She says no it’s our gift. Anyway, Aldo tells her to get up to go to the water, She is nervous, into the waves? She tells him not to let go of her after he takes off her glasses. He says yes. They hug and dunk under waves then KISS!!!! They rush out of the waves holding hands and Aldo leans in for another Kiss, ok get ready for this all you Fern addicts in withdrawal, turns out to Lety, it’s really lovely locks Fernando planting a long succulent kiss on her! Darn, I actually wanted to see a real kiss from Aldo. Oh well, more mystery. When Lety opens her eyes Aldo is smiling and wants to kiss her again. She gets upset and runs to collect her things, she’s sorry. He wants to talk about it, but she says no, later, please, later, and she’s back to calling him Senor.

Marcia asks Fer if he’s still in pain. She tells him he’ll awake tomorrow more swollen and she thinks she should have taken him to the hospital. She’s focusing on his face, but man with the whooping he got from five guys kicking him, I’d be more worried about his ribcage, no? She asks what he did. He says what did they do to him. She says no, he went to a place where they would kill him. She says to seal everything, one more thing to cause his family pain if he was gone. Fer asks Marcia why the picture is still there, he thought she would have thrown it out. She doesn’t want to touch the subject. He asks if she is still in love with him. She tells him that the heart is a traitor that unfortunately we carry inside with us.

Back inside Lety reflects on it all and realizes she still loves Fernando and wondered why she kissed Aldo and seems troubled. In contrast Aldo continues walking on the beach talking to the sea. He is reflecting upon their kiss. A- We kissed! It was a kiss of love! I needed and wanted to kiss her! I feel like I’m cured!! He is excited that he feels he can love again and he does a goofy dance in the ocean flipping around like a wounded fish, yet obviously very confident about his manhood in his pink shirt. And yeah, those white pants get pretty translucent so I’d agree he’s got nothing to concern himself about. Yum!

Back at Marcia’s, hair still perfect, she kisses him on the cheek, and he jokes that he imagines that kissing him must be as bad as kissing a monster. M-I would kiss every one of your wounds if you were still mine. I fought and sacrificed much for you, but now it’s time to think about myself. She tells him to get some sleep.

Lety is asleep on the couch and Caro calls her to wake up and get ready. Aldo is on the beach in his sexy Village People out fit and he prepares an illegal size mesh net, praying to the ocean to give him it’s fruits, that tonight he wants to prepare a special dinner, because it’s a special day for him.

Fer gets ready to go and he realizes that his things are still in her bath cabinet. [He must have had a fresh shirt there too.] She knocks and brings him his breakfast. She already ate. She says they have to go to Conceptos and rhetorically asks him if he remembers how important today’s meeting is. She gives him a suitcase to take all of his things home. Dramatic music and cut. Just one thing I want you to notice, that Marcia’s hair is fluffy and curled.

Also, for those of you fighting back and forth between liking Aldo or Fernando, I want to point this out. I know Fer is the favorite son, but objectively, man, unless you are a masochist, I don’t see how you could prefer Fer at this point. Aldo has done everything right. Treated Lety like a queen, talked philosophy, is stable and confident, has an incredible house in tropical Acapulco, successful, takes her around town, carriage rides, romantic dinners, diving, meeting the father who also finds her enchanting, and asking her to watch the sunrise on the beach with him without trying to score in the sand. When you rack that up with Fern’s deception, wussiness and hiding of their relationship, capricious whims, asking her to cook books, failure to fess up, questionable success due only to his family position, parents think she’s a gargolita, nice house but in tepid Mexico City with 22 million other people, no view, and pollution; drunken tirades treating other people like crap, etc. I’m thinking we are pretty sick in the head to want her to be with him. Why is it again that we want her to be with him?? :)

How romantic, Lety & Aldo sitting on the beach watching the sun rise.
It's a shame how far the President of Conceptos has fallen. He has been reduced to a drunken bully in a bar. Why couldn't Lety have recognized him while he was laying on the sidewalk. I wish Lety had rescued him instead of Marcia but at least Marcia did come to help him.
Thanks for a very thorough recap. You did a really great job.

K, interesting end to your recap. I have to admit that while I was trying to fall asleep last night I was thinking similar thoughts. This is what I came up with....

Right now Aldo is doing all of the things that Fernando should have done to woo Lety. Aldo is being the perfect gentleman. The only fault he has (well, except for the huge teeth and the poor taste in casual wear) is that he is not Fernando. Otherwise, he'd be perfect.....for someone else (I had to add that).

Meanwhile, Fernando is feeling like the schmuck that he is and since Lety isn't there to personally punish him, he's taken it upon himself to do the job. He is miserable---because she is gone and he is the reason for it. I can totally understand his reason for self-destruction. I think some good therapy would be a better option than picking fights in bars and driving drunk all over SE Mexico. However, in novela-land, Fer sitting on an analyst couch talking about his feelings and short-comings would not be as entertaining than what we've gotten the past few weeks from him.

With that being said--- we, as viewers, were led to fall in love with the mismatched couple of Fernando and Lety. For six months
the writers did a fantastic job and pretty much all of us did as they intended---we fell for the ugly duckling and the handsome prince. Now, they want some of us to fall for Aldo and Lety---that's pretty hard when they did such a wonderful job selling us on Lety and Fernando. So, some people want to jump ship and join the Lety/Aldo bandwagon---obviously people who are more open to change than I am. Of course, the writers are going to maximize this viewer conflict...hoping it will generate higher numbers.

Meanwhile, I'm still holding out for Lety and Fernando. Not because Fernando is perfect, he's just who Lety loves. He's not whom she trusts (rightfully so), but he is who she loves. Aldo on the other hand offers Lety someone to trust (not the same as love, but a very important component in the love equation). Could she learn to love him, sure she could. Would that make me and 90% of the other La Fea viewers happy---probably not.

So now, if we are heading toward a Lety and Fer reunion (which I ultimately think we are) we've got a long road ahead of us, with a big Aldo roadblock. Fer has to win back Lety's trust, which will not be an easy task. Aldo's presence will make it even all that more difficult. Lety will have to learn to trust Fernando again, which will be even harder. With Aldo around, she's going to be comparing the two men, left and right. Again, more to add to the drama and hopefully provide some comedic moments, because I'm really missing those.

So I'll be sitting back on my couch every M-F at 7pm to see how this all plays out, enjoying the ride. Then I'll the next morning I'll jump online to see what everyone is talking about here. :-)

Also, have to add that Aldo looked rather cute when he was shouting to the ocean about the kiss. And, I couldn't help but love the transparent white pants. Yummy!!! (I still love Fernando, but I'm not totally blind to Aldo's, errr, charms.)

One final note, the fantasy kiss between Fernando and Lety was way hotter than her dream kiss with Aldo.

Extremely well said Cathy. Exactly how I feel but expressed so much better than I could.
Aldo and Lety just don't have the intense passion and chemistry that Lety and Fernando do. It helps to feel that chemistry when you are so smitten with Fernando and his intense looks yourself.
I'm confused with the Lety/Aldo relationship and just living for more Fern/Lety!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Carrie L.

Have to agree the Aldo/Lety kiss was tepid compared to the one with Fern. I think that one of the reasons I like the Fern/Lety pairing, aside from the fantasy aspect is that deep down in addition to really loving her Fern needs her. And, Lety needs to be needed. Aldo is pretty self reliant and I can't help but wonder if the sister-in-law will show up for him.

Let's see we have a very important meeting today and Fern is going to show up looking like the wrath of God. Wonder what the feas, Omar and icy Humb will think of that. I'll be curious to see if Jamie remembers to act like someone with badly bruised, at least, ribs. I was in an accident and can tell you bruised ribs hurt like the very dickens.

I also wonder what Julieta will do now that she knows the story - go down and confront Fern or just keep silent. And will Tomas tell Lety that Fern looks really really awful like he has been beat up or in an accident and if she will care?

I too can hardly wait to see what everyone is thinking but I punish myself by making myself do my chores first and then reward myself with a trip to the blog.

Agreed with Kris and Cathy on all counts. In addition, I like any chef who can proudly proclaim "I haven't poisoned anyone yet."

I prefer Fern because he's the one we started out with. His love for Lety is real, while Aldo's love may be more like a delayed rebound thing mixed with gratitude for Lety bringing him back to life.

But I will be happy for Lety with any man - Fern, Aldo, Tomas, Omar, even Ariel - as long as that particular man can evolve and change to a point where he can accept, appreciate, and love Lety for the person she turns out to be. Lety's very much a work in progress, so I'm not sure how that will turn out, nor how any of those guys will turn out, so there's just no way to call it yet.

For the sake of dramatic satisfaction, I'd just as soon it would be Fern, but man, he's got a long way to go.

Great recap, followed by excellent analysis. Aside from Jaime's hot looks, intense kisses, and skilled acting, I wonder if Fern's appeal as a character comes from the spoiled little boy who just needs The Love of a Good Woman to make him grow up and fly right. Lety, of course, being the good woman. Last night, I wondered if Lety's closet is as bottomless as Fern's flask. She jumped right in the sea and ruined that purple dress with no hesitation.

What I still don't understand is why Lety's so trusting of this man after what she's just been through. For all she knows, he could totally be playing her. You would think she would have some armor around her heart for awhile after the whole Fern thing. Not that I'm saying he's a bad guy, I'm just saying it doesnt seem normal to me for someone to act this way so soon after a broken heart. Plus, she's not wondering about Fern at all (i.e. the repercussions etc) - which even after someone hurts you so bad, you tend to do. I think he's going to start wondering the same thing. How would she be able to be happy (as PG said she was) when she knew what was going to happen after the meeting.
Fern started out by deceiving her, but then genuinely fell in love with her, warts and all. Can we say the same for Lety?

I too wonder how she jumped into this new relationship so fast. It makes no sense, not that novela's ever do but it seems so odd. I wonder if part of it is the casting when they brought in Juan Soler the hunk as opposed to Ernesto Leguardia who is more of a puppy dog.

I also have to say watching the sun rise in West is certainly a new thing for me who lived on the Pacific ocean her entire life. ;-)

Thanks for the great recap. Loved the illegal fishing net and pink shirt lines.

I was disappointed that Marcia took Fern back to MC so fast. I thought it would be better if they stayed in a hotel and maybe Fern would see Lety in the morning. I couldn't believe they drove back to MC late at night. It's over 265 miles. By that time, I would think Fern would be passed out.

I agree that Aldo sounds like a better catch on paper. But the guy is a fool. It has taken him 2 years to get over his wife and somehow he thinks Lety is giving him "kisses of love" three days after her heart was broken. Come on...

Loved the Fern/Lety dream kiss and am glad that Lety realizes she still loves Fern. I wish she would just break down and call him...even if she hangs up. Give the guy a little hope, some light in his hour of need.

I must admit that I was worried Marcia and Fern were on the road to recovery. But, was glad when she gave him a suitcase to pack up all his stuff from her apartment. The timing wasn't the best, but they are better off. Marcia shouldn't be pining for a guy that doesn't love her. Alicia keeps pointing out what a great catch Fern is and Mar should hold on to him. But, Marcia, in the same respect of social status and dinero, is a pretty good catch herself.

I also notice that they do a lot of "sunrise" scenes in the late afternoon. Maybe it looks better with the the sun over the water than behind the camera.

Jewels

That's funny what you guys say about the sun looking like it should be afternoon, cause I was thinking...if they were watching the sun rise over the ocean (which is the direction they were facing) wouldn't that have been west?? No super up on my geography, but it seemed a bit odd to me.

I felt it was kind of sneaky of the writers to tempt us with what we thought would surely be a Fern/Lety reunion (Fern in Acapulco...why ELSE would the writers take him to Acapulco??) then snatch it away from us. It does seem like the ground work is being laid for a possible Fern/Marcia reunion, but I don't think it would take them toooo long to remember how much they can't stand each other in the light of day.

As for Aldo v. Fern...Ummm in my very very humble opinion Aldo is the only one in this equation who is "self-actualized" enough to really be in love. Fern might come close but Lety has a loonngg way to go. She's probably getting so close to Aldo so fast for the same reason she fell into a bad relationship with Fern...he makes her feel good/lovable/desirable.

I agree that the writers were playing with us thinking that Lety and Fern would get together in Acapulco but it is still possible for him to go back as he said he would. Of course he'll have to heal first. I'm still wondering if that picture they took when Lety was dressed as Miss Puebla could show up in the papers and clue Fern in as to where she is. I'd like to think he went to Acapulco in the first place because of that strange psycic connection that he h=and Lety hav, that he was drawn there because that is where she is.

Yikes I should have checked that post. I meant to say the psycic connection that he and Lety have. Seems my fingers flew faster than my brain.

Check out this mapquest view of Acapulco.

As you can see, it's possible to watch both the sunrise AND the sunset over the water there.

Thanks for looking up that info Julie. I am glad to know that it is possible for them to be on the beach and watch the sunset.....now if only it wasn't filmed in the middle of the afternoon.

I did read online somewhere that the Acapulco scenes were filmed around three different huricanes. So I suppose they took whatever chance they could to get clear outside scenes.

should have said sunrise....I should check what I type before I send it......oh well typos keep me humble.

just can't do it....I can never become an Aldo shipper.....he is so darn special...

Amanda, where did you find out that Fernando Colunga might be in an episode? Is there a particular site we could go to and read about it?

Kris, thanks for the super recap!! Last night I was in the lobby of a hotel watching and they couldn't get the remote to work to turn the captions on; there was no "menu" button on the front of the tv, either. Also, the (whispering) bartender (normal voice again) kept asking me questions about LFMB, so I got distracted and couldn't follow. I'll be glad to get home tonight and watch it before I watch tonight's episode, now that I've read Caray, Caray.

Your details (and I agree, the lines about the pink shirt, etc., are nice touches) and the analyses of our colleagues are very good. I have begun to just watch and hope for the best (to me, that'd be Fern and Lety, with Marcia finding someone nice for her, and Aldo and Caro finding nice people for them, etc.) I am realllly hopeful he'll quit drinking. Sitting at the bar where I ate dinner and watched was a little painful, since he was in such bad shape.

Julie, thanks for pointing out the position of Acapulco and how the sun rise and sunset can look similar there. We lived at Waikiki for seven years, and often experienced this when we were walking early in the morning or later in the evening. Especially at the point of Diamond Head there was that "where is the sun coming from" effect. It's lovely, but I bet a non-local could get pretty confused. I know I wandered for an hour one night in a half mile area looking for a hotel because I couldn't get my direction right with the sun and went in circles around Diamond Head in the car. I was a newbie. :-(

While I'm dismayed by Fern's condition, I am pleased we're getting a little less peripheral action (like the Rafael/Irmita side story, not that Irmita is unimportant, but Rafael surely was!). We're getting more of the main characters in the last couple of days. I want to slap Teresita. She reminds me of the creatures in the animal kingdom who eat or otherwise incapacitate their young.

Here's a sidebar for y'all: the chef in the hotel lobby/bar where I ate is Mexican. He had a break and came out (the place was deserted at that time) to chat with me and the bartender. LFMB and reading the recaps has given me enough of a refresher and some confidence that I explained the basics to him, and also explained that Heridas de Amor will conclude tomorrow to be followed by Dueles de Pasiones. It really surprised me that I could pull it off. He told me he doesn't watch much television because he works 65 to 70 hours a week, and apparently loves it. He's worked for the chain in this area for 25 years! (His English is better than my Spanish, but he still struggles).

Amen, Sister, amen. I read on esmas.com that Julissa was complaining about her part being too small. Now that she's become more of a regular, I find myself wishing she'd lobbied for a more flattering wig instead. Her obsession to see her son married to her adopted daughter is vaguely creepy.

Actually, with the debate about the sunrise I suppose I should clarify that the term "amanecer" that Aldo used really means "dawn" more than sunrise, so he wasn't speaking literally about watching a sun rise out of the sea. Besides, from their position on that stretch of beach in Acapulco, and really from almost all points on the Pacific Ocean Coast period, the sunrise isn't really visible sprouting from the water, per se, as it would be from say the Atlantic side. There are just too many pretty high mountains that get in the way of the angle. Even from the Playa Grifo looking back east toward the city, all you really get is the light coming up over the mountains because there is just not a great enough expanse of water in front of your view. Still a watchable sunrise of course, but don't want to mislead you all into thinking they would have watched it come up staring over the ocean where they were. It's just that the amount of light at the time they filmed that scene would have been way more than even hours after a recent dawning from what I could tell. I found a picture that illustrates it pretty well, so if I figure out how to post the darn thing, I will.

You can tell this thing is dragging, when so many people weighed in on the position of the freakin sun. I didn't even notice the sun - I was too busy yelling at Lety, thinking she's all that because she go Aldo and his father back together.

Ponderings:
What happened to Fernie's coche? I think Aldo's father ate it.

Does Aldo ever work or is he (and Robopop for that matter) the Ozzie Nelsons of LFMB?

Terrific point taken! LOL!

Wow, great and very complete recap, I am way too lazy to do this good a job when it's my turn. Thanks. Thanks for sticking up for Aldo, too. I of course adore Fern and hope he grows up, but realistically he's a callow disaster at this point.

Thanks K, for the great recap. I agree totally with you about wanting to hit Robopop for complaining about Julietta not having dinner ready when he walked in the door. Thank God we've mostly gotten past that way of thinking here in the US. I can still remember my father coming in the door an doing the same thing when I was young. It was so tense.

I know Aldo is a saint and deserves a lot, but Fernando is my choice for Lety no matter what he does. The Chemistry between them sizzles. I feel sorry for Aldo now because he felt the love Lety feels for Fernando when she was kissing him and thought that love was for him. Aldo is going to yearn for that again.

Poor Lety in this Aldo/kiss situation. It is so uncomfortable for someone to have amorous feelings toward you that you don't return. Since Lety really cares for Aldo as a friend, she can't just stay away from him. Nothing will point out how there is no chemistry or love between two people like kissing someone. It would just make Lety realize even more how much she misses what she had with Fernando. That alone would be enough to make you cry. And, of course, Lety won't want to hurt Aldo's feelings. I get claustrophobic just thinking about being in Lety's situation.

I'm disliking Marcia less after her Fernando rescue. I don't want Fernando in too close proximity to Marcia, but there was no one else on his side. At least I do think Marcia really does love Fernando. Maybe it's more like the love you would have for a brother and she doesn't really realize that.

It's been brought to my attention that people down in Mexico, who love this show as much as we do indicate Lety is off into the sunset with Aldo..If this be the case, I will never watch another novela where Rosy Ocampo is the executive director.

I've been glued to my sofa nightly going thru the lives of my favorite characters and shedding my crocodile tears..To think Lety will end up in a restaurant in Acapulco as an assistant chef, chief cook and bottler washer to the second coming of Dr. Phil-Aldo,makes me want to spit.Mo
