Mentir Para Vivir #26 Mon 11/11/13 Mentir para engañar a la tonta de Lila

Jose Luis is explaining Eliseo that he bailed on Raquel’s inauguration party because he can’t be seen by his wife just yet. Idiot Eliseo thinks this is Corazon Indomable and some beard and a different hair could forbid Oriana from recognizing her husband, but JL knows better.
Joaquin calls just then and JL explains that he found the company to use for their lavado de dinero (money laundering) – they don’t need the capital, but he’s sure he can pull off the transaction. We don’t hear how much money they’ll “invest”, but it’s a lot.
Eliseo tries to find out what is the deal, but JL puts him in his place.

Casa Bonita is getting ready for the big opening, with a pool filled of flower petals. Nice.

Ruben is getting all dressed up to go to the party; since Madhilde wasn’t invited, she wants him to refuse attendance, too – normally, I’d agree with the wife in situations like this, but this is Maddy, so she has it well deserved.
She thinks they should have at least invited her as a gesture and if she can’t go, then Ruben won’t either. But he really, really wants to go – and he states this in a ridiculous childish voice, like he was a 10 year old going to his first sleep over.
Maddy accuses him of sleeping with one of the women, el desgraciado!

Oriana, Alina, Ricardo and Paloma arrive at the party; Lucina welcomes them, as Raquel looks on. Then she notices that Lucina is searching for Ruben in the crowd. Raquel explains that Francisco isn’t attending because he’s in a business trip; Lucina implies that something might be going on between Raquel and Francisco, because, you know, she’s Raquel.

Oriana is upset to see Berto at the party, but Ricardo thinks it’s better to have the enemy close by.  Alina wonders if the man is dangerous, and Paloma gets the line of the day, in saying: “Es tonto y eso es suficiente.” (He’s an idiot and that’s enough).
Ricardo goes to talk to him just to warn him one more time that he needs to stay away from Ines. Also, does Lila know Berto is blaming her for having killed Gabe? No, of course not, Berto only said that to help Ricardo. He still doesn’t know the name of her lover, though.
After Ricardo leaves, Raquel asks Berto what the talk was about, but he dodges the question.
At her hotel, Lila wants to smoke and JL obliges, lighting up her cigarette. They start chatting about his wish to invest in a business in town. As luck would have it, Lila is a partner at one, so how about if they make a deal? If she wants more shares and he has all that money lying around, why not get into business together? Lila is very interested!

Ricardo tells Lucina they shouldn’t confide in Manolo with the Oriana story, because he might not agree to help. The risk is too big, they better keep their mouths shut for now. And here comes Ruben, with a huge bouquet of flowers for Lucina. A lot of flirting and gazing ensues, with Paloma looking on at the public display of affection.

Raquel grills Berto about Ricardo again, but he tries to play it cool. Lila calls him just then, asking to meet him – they need to talk something muy importante.
At the hotel, she tells Berto about the negocio Fauxcisco suggested; Berto thinks it’s silly to trust a stranger – apparently, he’s not the complete idiot he appears to be, but Lila is plenty stupid for the both of them. She doesn’t care where the money might come from, as long as the guy is willing to help her; and Berto better not forget that the shares belong to HER. She needs Berto’s help to back up her story that she and Fauxcisco have been friends a long time, otherwise Ricardo would never agree to the investment. Berto thinks Ric could suspect the guy is her lover, but Lila doesn’t care what Ric might think – because she obviously doesn’t know what Berto is telling Ric about her supposed lover.

JL is remembering the kiss between Oriana and Ricardo.
Maldita sea! (Damn her!) he says – he doesn’t look happy.

The big inauguration party even has a band singing. Cesar shows up and Raquel doesn’t lose the opportunity to welcome him properly, shoving him into a corner and kissing him. He blows her off, though, the guy is such a party pooper.

Alina is getting bored with the very boring party (and so do I, a pool party where nobody ends up almost drowning, in a fight or passed out drunk is not a party. Where is Madhilde when we need her?)
Lucina tells Oriana there is a park nearby, and Ricardo offers to accompany Alina there. Lucina thinks Oriana won the lottery with this man and Paloma is happy they got back together.
At the park Alina is playing with Ricardo lovingly watching her, when Maria comes to fawn all over him. He explains her he’s there with Ines’ daughter and gets distracted long enough for Alina to scrape her knee and a stranger to offer his assistance.
Ricardo shows up just in time and the stranger leaves – of course he’s JL, wearing a hat and glasses as a disguise.
Back at Casa Bonita, Oriana is cleaning Alina’s scrape, while Alina explains how a gentleman helped her.

At home, Maria is upset because Ricardo blew her off because of Ines’ daughter. She wants to see Sebas, to tell him that she has to leave this house. The nurse tries to calm the crazy out of her… Good luck with that.

Arriving home, Oriana explains Paloma that Alina’s bruise wasn’t serious and then goes to say goodbye to Ricardo.
He’s ever so sorry for the big non-accident. Luckily, the guy who helped Alina was a decent person and not someone who wanted to take her. Oriana is not as worried, though, Alina knows she’s not allowed to talk to strangers – which is exactly what JL isn’t for her.
Later with Alina, Oriana inquires her about the man who helped; Alina quickly explains that he was very gentle and he had her daddy’s voice, even if it wasn’t him.
Cara impactada de Oriana, who tries to get a description out of Alina. The girl even tries to mimic the man’s voice in a very cute way, while explaining how nice he was with her.

Oriana immediately calls Ricardo, telling him she’s sure the man in the park was JL because Alina recognized his voice. She’s sure he is following them, so Ricardo runs to see her.

Madhilde whines to her daughter about Ruben going to the party. Fabiola doesn’t see what the big deal is, but Maddy is sure Ruben has an affair with Lucina – her life is derrumbando (collapsing, over), she only has Fabiola left.
Well, about that… Can Fabiola go out with Sebastian?
Absolutely not!
Fabiola tells the servant about her mom’s controlling ways, but she knows that if she tells Paloma or Ruben, she’ll only cause more troubles, so there is nothing much that she can do about it.
But the servant runs to tell Paloma all about it. She thinks Fabiola is in love with Sebastian. Also, the servant remembers that Lucina called Ines Oriana twice, what could that be about? Paloma thinks it was a simple mistake, she’s never heard this name before.

JL is back at his hotel, sad and thinking about his daughter. Eliseo thinks they could take her away, and make Oriana follow them. But JL can’t do this, his wife will never forgive him. Besides, they need to get into business with Ricardo, Joaquin said so, this is not the moment to leave Hermosillo.
Eliseo thinks they could kills Ricardo, but JL knows that’s a stupid idea, because in Mexico they have no contacts to pull it off and, besides, Ricardo is very important in town, this could create a great ruckus.

Ricardo arrives at Oriana’s and finds her in a complete panic over JL probably being in town, spying on them; Ricardo thinks Alina might have made a confusion with the stranger in the park, but Oriana thinks there have been too many clues that JL is there. Ricardo promises to hire a bodyguard to watch over Alina and he’ll also call Manolo in San Carlos, to see if the Colombian authorities are sure JL is dead. He’ll be there for her every step of the way, as long as she promises to never leave him again.
They seal the promise with a kiss.

Ruben is still at Casa Bonita, drinking with Raquel and Lucina. They’re all very happy the agentos turisticos were impressed with their hotel. Lucina suggests that maybe Ruben should leave now. Ruben goes all independence day for a second, saying he doesn’t care what Maddy says, but Lucina insists.
After Ruben is gone, Raquel assures Lucina that he’s hitting on her sooo bad. No, Lucina, denies, and even if he did, she’s a free woman. Yeah, but he’s not, suddenly moral Raquel points out – and he is also broke…. That’s it, that’s our Raquel.
Lucina insists they are only friends. Definitely just friends. They decide to go pick up their stuff from Paloma’s the next day – Raquel can sleep in her underwear, it’s not like it would be a first for her.
Lucina calls Oriana to let her know and then Ricardo tries to comfort her some more, kissing included

Lila and Berto meet Fauxcisco (is Diego Oliverira ever so dreamy?); they start chatting about the negocio. Berto tries to find out where would the finances come from, they’re not by any chance laundering money, right? Fauxcisco gets all offended about it, pretends he wants to leave and this is enough proof for Berto that he’s honest.
Lila is already drunk and more than willing to get into business with Fauxcisco. She and Berto get into a fight over her drunkenness and Fauxcisco takes her to her room.
Lila starts blabbing about all the secret stuff JL wants to know about: Berto tried to blackmail Paloma’s granddaughter, who had an affair with him, but is also involved with Ricardo. Now Ricardo has the gun Gabriel, her ex, was killed with, but she didn’t do it, she thinks Oriana Caligaris did!
This gives JL food for thought.

Ruben arrives home, Madhilde is waiting for him. He thinks they should talk and she agrees – she wants to get a divorce and, for the time being, she throws him out of their room. He thinks she’s loca, she reminds him she’s not an idiot, she knows something is going on between he and Lucina. Ruben storms off.

The next day Ricardo talks with Manolo, who tells him they’re not 100% JL is dead, they couldn’t identify some of the bodies in that explosion. After, they talk about Villa Descanso being completely empty now and the fact that Manolo doesn’t remember the name of the company who bought it, but Lucina surely will.
Oriana comes to visit Ricardo. He greats her all nauseatingly lovable and they talk about Manolo’s information – they can’t be sure JL is really dead. Oriana, however, is certain he’s still alive and she’d like to starts giving classes at Alina’s school, keep an eye on her daughter, if Mariano agrees, too. It’s not like they need her all that much at the company anyway.
Lila and Berto arrive to talk with Ricardo and Ricardo asks Oriana to stay, too: confronting Berto could be the first step in learning how to confront JL down the line.
Lila is all cheerful with Oriana and then she starts explaining their great business idea: she has an investor group interested in Aresti Bretton – they could open a new branch in another country.
Ricardo wants to know who the investors are. Well, for now she’s talking with only one of them, his name is Francisco Castro.

Great recap, Adriana. I laughed out loud at your very first paragraph. Indeed, this is not CI!

I love this cat and mouse game. JL thinks he's one step ahead of Ori, but then she and Rick find something out that puts them one step ahead of him. They already know his fake name and now they know he's trying to invest in the company. What will their next move be?

I felt for JL when he was crying over his daughter, but didn't feel the same sympathy when he was remembering the kiss. Too bad, JL.

Adriana Noel - Terrific recap. Thanks for the fun. Love "Fauxcisco."

I felt for JL too. But hey buddy, you caused your innocent wife to have to flee the law in Colombia, so it's kind of ALL your fault.

I'm thinking JL doesn't buy Lila's story that Oriana had been involved with sleaze Berto, but we'll see. I like watching JL think. Eliseo is hilarious trying to be helpful. Hey, why not kidnap your daughter, or just kill Ricky? My favorite moment was JL throwing him out of the room.

Sorry to say I'm siding with Madhilda. Sourpuss should've been invited. Then maybe the party wouldn't have been so boring. There certainly would've been fireworks when her hub gave Lucina flowers.

During the mob meeting, I caught the briefest glimpse of Luis Gatica with a gray crewcut. I wonder if this was just a cameo, like Doberman Pinscher man earlier who saved Oriana in the park.

Gracias, Adriana! I agree about the best line being Paloma's...he's an idiot and that's enough! But then when he and Lila met with Francisco, suddenly he was the brains of the operation. Or maybe his idiotic babbling just happened to be right for once.

JL should be pretty baffled by now, thinking his sweet, innocent wife killed a guy and has already had 2 lovers since she had to go on the run. If he really believes the rumors, wouldn't he think twice about trying to threaten her?

Good work, Adriana.

Just the idea of grabbing the child to get the mother is repulsive. if JL goes down that road later I will be very peeved.

Glad to see Ruben telling off Madhilde. He's probably been waiting for that through their entire marriage.

Thanks Adriana, I loved Fauxcisco too. And I just realized and remembered he played the priest in that one show where his mother was a crazy religious lady who killed people.

I love the intrigue in this story too. Since they know that he's trying to invest in the company, what will their next move be? Hmm.

I think the actress who plays Lila is stunning. She has lost some weight since the last TN I've seen her in and she is absolutely beautiful.

Will JL try to use the knowledge that Oriana is suspected in killing Gabriel to get her back?

I may be alone in this, but I think the scenes and chemistry between Ruben and Lucina is hot. Way hotter than the main couple. I suppose it may be because I like them both and I would like to see them together and because they are in a somewhat forbidden situation. Lucina sure does like her married men though.

I think that both Ruben and Lucina are much more personable than O&R, and more fun to watch together. O&R are just a little dull.

I am loving Eliseo. Everything he does cracks me up.

I hope JL shaves that beard sometime soon.

I agreed with Matilde to a degree because we do know that Ruben is having an emotional affair with Lucina, if not a physical one. Everyone, including her, can see it. But that's just a manifestation of some deep problems in her marriage that have been there a long time. Time for her to take a hard look at herself, her husband and their marriage, and stop blaming external factors and people (Lucina). There are so many reasons that this marriage should come to an end that have nothing to do with Lucina.

As for going to a party without your spouse-- it might be a generational or cultural thing, but I have no problem with that. You and your spouse or significant other might not have all the same friends or interests. No need to be joined at the hip all the time, IF you trust each other (if you don't, that's a problem).

Plus, she has been rude to Lucina from day one (even before Ruben's eyes started flashing each time he saw her), so she really can't expect to be invited.

I'm so surprised, because I never agreed with Maddy's metods, but here I read some comments, who sympathize with her. But somewhere I feel, partly you have right, because not all things/characters are black and white. This is why I loved MPV.

About the episode:

Firstly, I loved your recap Adriana. I always loved when it is compared with CI. :D I tell it in confidence I don't like CI or I could have said the NL novelas.

I loved common scene of Ricardo and Berto on the fiesta. From today Ferdinando Valencia is my second favourite male actor by Televisa. Amazing guy! And the other scene, when Lila poured her alcohol drink into his face, so good. (Berto, the water is similar thing as alcohol drinks, only the water is used to having bath, hairwaishing and etc....)

I might not say yet, but my loves also are the black-haired actresses.

Eliseo is an idiot, but so funny, he has a stupid head.. What is he? A fag of JL? He doesn't seem a bodyguard.

Maddy was so histerical after the fiesta, real shrew.

Thanks Adriana, this is great and hilariously funny. My favorite line:

"Lucina implies that something might be going on between Raquel and Francisco, because, you know, she’s Raquel."

Isn't that always the way? A girl has sex with ten or so different guys and all of a sudden she gets labeled as a slut.

Carlos

So funny Adriana & the reference to CI

Imagine JL showing up to the party in beard & wig. Raq would immediately say, "what are you doing in the beard & wig?" Yep,Eliseo is definitely a refugee from CI.

Alejo-

Ferdinando Valencia is one of my favorite non-galan young actor. He has been so different in each of the many roles I have seen him in. He really is very talented.

Excellent title! Very funny!

Thanks for the recap, Adriana!

This time I agree with Matilde. Lucy should have invited both of them or neither of them. AND...don't Lucina and Raquel still live in the same house with her? That is really super tacky! But, it still doesn't matter what the hell they do.

Ruben should have respected his wife and not gone to the party without her. She's a witch, but she was deliberately left out of the celebration. He knew what they were doing.

But, now, I'm going to change my mind again. I forgot that Cesar lives at the hotel. OK, so scratch everything that I said previously. They couldn't invite her because Cesar was there.
