Tres Veces Ana - Episode 13 - Number of cliches reaches 1000: lies, misunderstandings and stolen letters this episode

Llora

We start with the depressing scene from yesterday's episode, where Llora agrees to decline trip to Costa Paraiso in exchange for a hug. She doesn't even get that. Instead she goes back to her room to cry some more, where she is later joined by Abuela. Abuela is outraged Ramiro turned out to be such a shady despicable character.

(Somewhere Ramiro's ears were ringing during this conversation, such was the amount of "love" dumped on him.) Abuela will never let Ramiro come close to her nietas again, and so what that Llora is in love with him - with time she will meet someone else. (Ok, I am outraged too, along with some of you based on our comments. Outraged that a person of Abuela's age and supposed wisdom does not really recognize the character of either of her granddaughters, as well as a close family friend. Oh well, another cliche in Count's and Urban's lists!)

Later at night Valentin calls Llora to wish her good night. She whines a bit about her difficult night and he expresses compassion. They agree to meet the next day. Valentin hangs up and...stares at the pictures of Llora and her entire family - abuela, Mariano, Ana Le, etc. on the wall!! Their meeting was definitely not by chance. Valentin Montecristo is out for vengeance.

Abuela

Abuela spent part of this episode agonizing over slapping Ana Le with Leonor consoling her. She then busied herself depressing Llora some more by expressing her anger at Ramiro's behavior. And when that was checked off her list, went to Ramiro's father to ask him to take swift action to knock some sense into his son and to make sure he never comes close to her nietas again. This was a tough episode's worth of work for Abue, so I am sure she is now pooped and somewhere taking a nap.

Ramiro

Poor guy's day went from bad to worse again (seems to be trend?) and after having been rejected by the love of his life and thrown out of their house, he comes home to his own father demanding he turns in his keys and leaves. He heard from Abuela what Ramiro has done and will not have it. No amount of explanation seems to convince this very un-sharp looking father of his. Ramiro must give all of this love for Llora and search for Ana Lu up, or leave father's house. Ramiro collects his things and departs.

He arrives to the sad dark mansion of crying next day and meets up with Leonor, who believes him unconditionally and will help him. Ramiro must be patient though and wait his turn. Ramiro agrees and gives Leonor a letter to give to Llora. Leonor promises to do so. Anyone wants to place any bets on whether the letter will get to Llora?

Ana Le

After thoroughly depressing Llora, Ana Le spends some time at the club and then at tio's office, where Inaki stood her up yet again. She then manages to get home, see Leonor speaking with Ramiro, and fly down the stairs and swiftly grab Llora's letter out of Leonor's hands. She taunts her with the letter and warns her against saying anything to Llora. And even though that letter is right in front of Leonor's nose, she does not think to use the same tactic and grab it back.

Ana Le goes back to her room and reads the letter, where Ramiro professes his love for Llora, says that Ana Le was bothering him since before Marcelo's death, he is not interested in Ana Le and Llora is his only love. He will prove himself worthy by returning to San Nicholas and finding Ana Lu. Ana Le, predictably, is not fond of this idea and tears the letter to pieces.

Ana Lu

Meanwhile Sole's pretend faint worked and Ana Lu is not going to San Nicholas, but Sole is about to be disappointed once again. Ana Lu leaves to go to pharmacy and runs into Evaristo. That was fast finding! She is suspicious, as no one knew they were in Mexico. Ev tells her he is a talented investigator and her mother is hiding lots of things from her. He wants to talk. Now is not the time, says Ana Lu and they agree to meet over coffee.

She does not tell Sole she ran into Ev, though she takes Santi to the meet. Santi sees Ev and says he does not trust that men. No memories triggered though. Ev does not see Santi and Ana Lu goes to meet Ev alone, while Santi stands the guard. Ev spins a ton of stories, offers Ana Lu money which she refuses, and finally tells her he asked Sole to leave, because a dangerous man was after them. He shows her a picture of Santi and tells her that man is a criminal.

Other

Elsewhere Inaki got a new apartment and bragged to his brother about it and we found out that Remedios, much like us, watches telenovelas and actively participates in the lives of its characters. We end of Soledad joining Remedios for a chat to ask for something to do at the hostel to keep busy, while Rem watches her TN. Soledad sees a picture on the wall - picture is of Rem's dead husband and his former business partner Evaristo. First time in the series Soledad actually does not feel well at the news.

Sorry this is a bit on the compact end, but I am packing for a trip and will be away for the rest of the week. Please fill in if I skipped over anything.

Overall I found this episode both faster moving (we finally found out about Valentin, and Ev is on the move as well), and aggravating with the stolen letters and other misunderstandings. Interesting to see what Evaristo's next move is going to be. I'll have to do a catch up session of Thu & Fri episodes over the weekend!

Ria, I enjoyed your recap. It was excellent. Enjoy your trip!

Valentín's hair is reminding me of Harpo Marx. Very distracting. I start thinking of horns and stupid hats. : )

Evaristo is just everywhere, isn't he? Looks like Soldad cannot escape him.

Now that Evaristo has branded Santiago as a criminal and a murderer, will Ana Lucía tell him what Evaristo said about him? About who he might have been? This is going to be an interesting one.

It was hard to believe that Edmundo Ramiro's father would throw him out of the family house because of what Ernestina told him. The viewer has been led to believe that Ramiro was a good egg, so why would his father think differently so quickly and easily.

Another easy to watch episode.

Thanks Ria, it was brief but was a very good read, especially while packing for a trip. Hope you have fab time.

Jarifa, I think Edmundo knows Ramiro is not guilty
of those things, he is mad because Ram does not want A Let and because he obviously cares
more about Ernestina and her business.

I am intrigued about Soledad not liking Evaristo when he looks like he has been very protective of her, could she be upset because he never married her mother?

So ironic Valentin looking all noble and nice, when he
is obviously bent on revenge n the family. Poor Ramiro, hope he finds A Lu. Even so, you gotta know A Let is not done giving him grief. I am glad that one person, Lourdes, knows his character and A Leticia's character too. I Hope A Let doesn't murder her.

Urban, you found perfect word for A Let,
una "devorada."

Leticia

Safe travels, Ria! Have fun. Thanks for recapping for us before you had to leave. If you are still around, please label this or it will disappear once it falls off the main page.

Poor Ramiro is having a hard time of it. The writers are going a bit overboard, having not only Ernestina believe something so stupid, but also his own father. Nothing that he has done or that any of them has ever seen has shown that he's a golddigger (they look pretty well off to me), or that he had any interest in Ana Leticia. He spends all his time with Ana Llora. Talks about her All the time. Brings her flowers. If he were secretly romancing both sisters, he wouldn't have been so obvious about his preference for one. These people are stupid.

Ana Lucia has less reason to believe in Santi, but I hope she does some research. Find out his real name from Evaristo, and then go to the police to see if the name given matches with a picture of a wanted criminal, and that the picture is of Santi. If she does this, she'll find that Ev is lying. But I bet she won't.

Glad Ramiro decided to defy his father and move out. Wish he would give up on Ana Llora. Any person who supposedly loves you, has known you all their life, yet would believe the worst of you like that, isn't worth it. Even if you blame Ana Leticia's influence on her, that's not a problem that's likely to ever go away. She will always put Leticia above him. Plus, she's just looking for an excuse, any excuse, for why a man like Ramiro would be interested in her, because it couldn't possibly be love.

Vivi - labeled it! Thanks for flagging it! I also set a discussion page to post tonight for tonight's episode discussion. Also, wholeheartedly agree with you about Ramiro, Ernestina and Llora.

Jarifa - I am wondering as well whether Ana Lu will share this information with Evaristo. Maybe in a lack of faith in Ana Lu's common sense though(but fits the trend we've seen so far on this show), I think that like her entire real family Ana Lu will believe a total stranger (not that Santi isn't one for her at this point really either!) and do none of the investigating Vivi mentions above. Definitely will be interesting to see though!

Gracias, Ria, y buen viaje!

I'm adding to the cliche database on this series with the priviso that all or most will be ongoing. The additions to the list will be published in Monday episode discussions.

Ana Leticia showed unusual intelligence (vis a vis novela characters) by destroying the letter rather than saving it as a trophy. Both Ramiro and Leonor will have a hard time proving that it existed in the first place.

Ramiro's father's attitude all this time has been puzzling. WTH is he thinking by saying that Ana Llorona is "incomplete"? She wears a prosthesis and can walk, she can play the piano well, and she is at least of normal intelligence (except about people). There is no reason to believe she can't have children (which is what "incomplete" usually means). He's a superficial idiot about people no matter how smart he is at his profession. His greatest display of stupidity so far is that he bought the lies about his own son hook, line, and sinker. He should know his own son better than that, but he is the mirror-image of Ernestina, who doesn't know her own granddaughters as well as she should.

Ria, this is great. Enjoyed every word, safe travels.

"I am sure she is now pooped and somewhere taking a nap"

finally got us a decent bad guy, Valentin.

"and she is at least of normal intelligence (except about people)" you so funny UA

I'm glad Ramiro refused his fathers manipulation and left the house. I absolutely hate TN's manboys still living at home in their 30's. If you want me to take you seriously have a real job and a key to your own place.

Evaristo is such a creepy old man. Even handing Lucia the card gave me the creeps.

Gawd, even Lucia was weeping last night. Stop it. Only joy I saw last night was when Inaki won at the track.

"Valentín's hair is reminding me of Harpo Marx" hehe, yes Jarfia it does

Thanks, Ria! I thought your recap was just the right size. Have a good trip!

I was frustrated that no one asked Ramiro for his side of the story. Ram's dad listened to a tale told fourth-hand and believed it wholesale. Who the hell does that??

I am very sad that so many (fictional) people believe that all of a woman's self-worth is located in her right leg. I think Ana Llora should leave this story and join another TN where people will treat her like a regular human being.

I don't know what Valentin is up to, but whatever it is, I'm into it. It's the first time I've ever seen this actor play an even remotely sinister character, and it's kinda crazy. I like it!

Thanks Ria. Have a great trip!!

As I'm always a day behind I don't have much to add. Sounds like another depressing episode with ALet holding all the cards.

Off Topic:

Last week I discovered a cute/funny series on Netflix that I think some of you would really enjoy-- Dramaworld. It's about an American woman who is a super fan of K-dramas (Korean telenovelas), who magically gets sucked into a k-drama and becomes a character in the show. There are 10 total episodes in the series (looks like additional seasons will follow) and each episode is about 15 minutes-- super easy to watch the whole series in one sitting. If you don't have Netflix, you can watch the show for free where it was originally produced, Viki TV. Here's Episode 1: https://www.viki.com/videos/1097562v-dramaworld-episode-1

Ria I hope you have a great time and thanks for the concise recap.

Bet you don't' miss much while you're gone.

So last night I guess we moved officially, though rather early, to the "misunderstanding and stupid pill stage". People will trust someone they don't know and not give their loved one a chance, facts they should know in their gut are lies will be held as truths for at least another couple dozen episodes, and stupid actions will result from these "misunderstanding". Always a fun time...NOT!

Wouldn't it be fun to have one whole episode without someone weeping or mopey? Good lord, I keep expecting Ruffio to come around the corner in this TN any minute.

What the heck is Ev's end game in this? He's everywhere and involved with everyone.

Thanks Ria. Loved the title. Yes, after having been spoiled by Hotel de los Secretos, here I am back in cliche land, with stock characters, stock situations and ridiculous misunderstandings. BUT...it's in Spanish.

I also liked the way you organized the recap by character rather than, what shall I say, "linearly". The scenes change so quickly, zig-zagging back and forth, it sometimes becomes quite tedious for a recapper. Better to change it up a bit.

Safe travels and thanks for all you do.

Thanks Ria and its not over compact, its just right, hope you have fun:)

I would like to thank each of every of the Caray bloggers who participate in the recapping for people like me and my husband. While I understand slow speaking Spanish, my husband doesn't understand it all. But my husband is the one who loves TN. I came across the blog by accident while trying to find, ironically something like this, not knowing it actually existed, to fill in the parts I missed. Our last TN was Teresa, played by Boyer, and my husband has faithfully been looking for another since. 9pm is a little too late for us but he really likes Boyer, so were up watching.
