I have no idea what was said, but I am pretty sure asu has lied her patudy off while talkin to her spawn
Big bro. And then She throws nihan
Under the bus to either save kemal
Or to get him to be madder at nihan.
Or both. But I'm pretty sure she did
It to benefit herself too.
I love these recaps, waiting with baited breaths for the next one.
It sounded like she also told him the baby is emir's spawn. It sounds
Like she was singin her ass off. I
Hope kemal don't trust her.Poor guy, he's surrounded by lairs.
And family his is just Totally useless.
These Writters better let him win in the end.
Thank you Rgv Chick, AnonFri, and Clara. I think this is the best tn
On right now. But that's just me.lol
*El Dragon 2hrs starting December 30, from 9p-11p.
Also no episodes will air on the 31.
Guess Who's Coming to Dinner Part 1
Where would we be if we always say what we mean and mean what we say?
In the context of real life, could that ever truly occur? There are hindrances. Things we forget to say, things we can’t say, things we won’t say, things we shouldn’t say. Then there are lies, deliberate lies and lies of omission. “White” lies to spare someone’s feelings. An undeserved compliment just to be kind. Begrudging agreement used as a tourniquet to stop an emotional wound from bleeding. Conversely, “Mortal” lies that intentionally wound or cruelly decimate.
As human beings, we often rush to judgement and sadly, do not keep our opinions to ourselves. The often given into urge to speak before we think can be devastating. We misspeak. Sometimes badly, with or without malice. We may try to explain, to correct, to apologize but once spoken, we cannot truly take words back. Once uttered, words float into the air, criss crossing, tangling and mangling, taking on a life of their own.
A few of our characters would do well to heed these words. These and other life lessons continue…
Oso comforts Rosa with kind, smiling encouraging words.
Rafa visits Alejo, confiding his secret and his problem. Oso is my father! Alejo is surprised but thinks Oso will be happy when he learns this.
Unheeded pleading and begging ensue with Ringo being the recipient. Ivan tries to get Ringo to stay at the job but Ringo won’t. Turco calls to pester with more apologies, invoking Gloria’s name as the mother of Santi. Even Carrizo gets in on it. Mercifully, Ringo hangs up on him.
In a too late show of bravado and support, Ivan calls Llorente, angrily telling him Julia wasn’t hurt, but Rosa was. Llorente takes the rebuke with an open mouth and little to say. I’m sorry Ivan tells his daughter. Julia has had enough.
Brenda peeks around the corner and sees her father being comforted by Sandra as she puts her hand on his shoulder. Brenda’s feverish little brain goes into overdrive. She calls Rafa up and calls him her hermano!
Eva and Alejo talk, he tells her to be very careful. She lunges, grabs his tightly and kisses him. He looks shocked. Unfortunately, Max sees them and beats a hasty retreat.

Guess Who's Coming to Dinner Part 2
We next see Manuel and Max conversing. Manuel wants to hear his story, no secrets to be had. Max had “the calling” since he was a child. One day, when greeting some parishioners, he sees a beautiful, long, shapely pair of legs. He was hit by the proverbial thunderbolt (no pun intended). He marvels as his face exudes happiness and yearning. He thought God was testing him, but he couldn’t resist looking every time she passes by. Manuel wonders if he left the seminary for a pair of legs, but Max tells him that he left for the whole woman...he had never seen such beauty (it was Eva!). When he saw her face, he knew that his only vocation was to love her. The next day he left the seminary. He is now close to her but not with her; he is afraid to tell her how he feels. By omission, Max does not mention the “Ocha and Associates” name plate on the company door. Manual thinks he should be assertive and strong; women like that...though it didn’t work for him with Martita. Manuel gets a bright idea—he will help Max with the woman he is in love with and Max will help him with Martita. He has Max call Martita, but Martita knows that Max is calling from Manuel’s phone and she wants nothing to do with him!
Now for the first of many dinners at which little if any food was actually consumed. Dinnertime at the Bickersons. Turco is sporting some hideous shirt with more glitter than a Christmas tree. Uh oh. The food is laid out on the table when suddenly, Tupperware appears.
Next, Oso and Rosa. And goody, he’s cutting onions – here come the tears, like he needed any reason to cry (which he can do on a dime). Rosa had music playing but Oso marched over and turned it off, stating he’d rather listen to the news. When Rosa asked why he always got upset when he heard Benny Ibarra’s songs, Oso replied that he stole all his songs! Another plot thickens.
The third dinner (at Ivan’s) is not going well either. Diego tells Julia that the car that was used to try to run her over was reported as stolen and therefore, they won’t be able to trace it back to Llorente Dear, disillusioned, disturbed Brenda drags Rafa in (who again looks like he has a tough time keeping a straight face) declaring he is her brother. Stunned stares ensue. Ivan is understandably upset. Brenda spewx a fabricated fairy tale as Ivan makes the cuckoo motion right in front of her. I had to laugh myself. Diego asks quietly if it’s true. No I’m not her father Ivan screams to Diego.
The fourth dinner scene seems tranquil as Teresa and Santi set the table. Then, there is a knock on the door. Is it the three wise men? No unfortunately, it’s the three stooges. And we now see where the Tupperware has gone. Teresa is not happy and Santi is staring. Ringo comes in and Teresa asks him not to make a scene. Ringo swallows his pride. But there’s too much bad blood and the peace is only momentary. Ringo tells Gloria to take Turco away. Gloria apologizes to Ringo. After Turco chastises Ringo, he then assured him that Gloria never cheated on him while Ringo and Gloria were together, Ringo retorts that it was a different when Gloria was with Turco...because Gloria spent most of her time looking for him (Ringo). A fast, flash burn ensues. Turco is livid.
Brenda and Rafa end up at Oso’s .Rafa is trying to tell Brenda that Ivan isn’t his father and when he says that it is Oso, Oso pops up from behind the counter. He is beside himself and at first denies it. Then, he says it out loud. Alejo clears the room and leave the two to talk.

Guess Who's Coming to Dinner Part 3
Ringo and Julia have several scenes in which they try to define and/or change their relationship. Diego interrupts every scene without exception. Julia tries to talk Ringo into staying. He tells her that he needs to leave. It’s the best thing to do especially since she is getting married in a week. Being an employee, he can’t tell her how he feels. He needs to leave OR he can stay and convince her not to get married. He asks her what he should do. She finally tells him to stay.
Ringo calls Julia and says Lupe is there to see Diego. Julia shares this news to Diego with a look. She’s the architect of my house she tells Ringo.
Manuel and Max are paying a house call. Not to a house exactly, but a spa where the staff is very provocatively dressed. Blue cocktails are served. The “server” is all over Max who stares at the floor and tries to evade her ministrations.
Oso wants to talk to Sandra. She isn’t thee so Oso leaves a cheery message. Not.
At the gym, Brenda confronts Damasio, telling him he is an idiot for having said Rafa was her father’s son. Damasio, chin held up, replies that in every investigation, there is margin for error...even Sherlock Holmes wasn’t always right! Brenda brushes by Alejo in her rush to leave.
Instead of rejoicing, Oso is going to drown in his tears of self-pity. Oso doesn’t believe he can be Rafa’s father... a father is one who receives his son when he is born, one who changes his diapers, who sees him grow and take his first steps, who takes his son to school and takes care of him when he is sick, who plays football with him...that is a father.
And before Oso can shed yet another tear, we mercifully end…
Diana
First and foremost, I thank Rgv Chick who provided critical dialog so kindly and generously. It is due to her that so many things here make sense.
I apologize as I had work e-mails that I needed to work on while I was trying to finish this. I simply could not remember the order of the Ringo/Julia scenes so it just seemed to make more sense to do it this way.
I look forward to reading everyone's comments tomorrow.
Diana
Thanks, Alexander, for keeping us advised on the schedule.
Still haven’t watched this. Hope to this a.m.
Can’t wait to see what new novelas will be coming in the new year.
I am always amazed...and gratified...at the wisdom you can find and explore in these rather silly, over-dramatized telenovelas, Diana. Each and every one of your prologues is a treat. Your thought processes and your writing skills are such a gift to us. I especially enjoyed this nugget from your introduction:
As human beings, we often rush to judgement and sadly, do not keep our opinions to ourselves. The often given into urge to speak before we think can be devastating. We misspeak. Sometimes badly, with or without malice. We may try to explain, to correct, to apologize but once spoken, we cannot truly take words back. Once uttered, words float into the air, criss crossing, tangling and mangling, taking on a life of their own.
You have given a very well thought out treatise on the misunderstandings in this story. And a nice reflection on how we mess up our own relationships in life as well.
Loved your humor as well:
Turco is sporting some hideous shirt with more glitter than a Christmas tree.
and
Three Wise Men? No, three stooges.
Pretty sad encounter there, although I was quite glad that Abuela saved the lovely food they brought. Simply horrified that Ringo wanted to throw it away. Nothing edible gets thrown away in our house! That "saving gene" must come with age.
Felt rather sorry for Gloria (can you believe I said that!?) when Ringo told Turco how she had sought him out. And I also have to admit that while José Ron is very attractive in this, his impetuous character as Ringo is like watching a bull in a china shop. He seems to be flailing and lashing out most of the time. I can see why Julia finds him enticing, especially when compared to the slithering, calculating Diego, but in a lot of ways Ringo seems to be his own worst enemy...always acting before thinking.
Oh well. Not my drama to worry about. It's just a story!
And now we have a former teacher who has become a successful Madame and is receiving her former students as clients! Yikes. However, I do hope that she receives her retirement pension as an educator. That will certainly prove to be an interesting case.
Two-hour recaps are a nightmare. I hope that your team expands and that there are soon more hands on deck, my friend. Especially at Christmas, nobody needs extra work and longer hours.
Thank you Judy for your supportive and lovely words.
I have to say I laughed and laughed at the stooges line myself. I was pretty proud of that.
Rgv Chick provided that "Ringo sought her out" as I couldn't figure out exactly what was said. It is very interesting that you said you felt for Gloria for a moment. I didn't quite feel that but I was surprised she hadn't started her relationship with Turco until she and Ringo ended theirs. So she wasn't a cheater. Grasping, cunning, cruel but not that. Oh dear, that doesn't sound quite right but...
And you're absolutely right. Ringo is a "bull in a china shop" (perfect!) I hope he settles down a bit. I do like his earnestness with Julia.
And I'm hoping Brenda gets the help she needs. Everyone is keenly aware all is not right there.
The two hour recaps Christmas week are not the present I was hoping for :(
Judy. thank you so much for buoying my spirits.
Diana
Great intro and recap, Diana. The title really worked well. Thanks. Scenes don’t need to be recapped in order so feel free to summarize and write anyway you want to. : )
I thought that the subplot of Oso being the frustrated composer whose songs were stolen by Benny Ibarra (!) was a nice touch to showing his sensitive side. Too funny.
Something needs to be done with Brenda ALREADY and Diego agrees with me!
Well, finally Oso knows the truth about Rafael. I liked how he found out so he couldn’t shut Rafael down one more time. He wants to be left alone as he has always been. . . Yikes! The Rafael character looks like he is trying to stifle a laugh in some of these dramatic scenes throughout the series. Will Oso give him his last name??? I am wondering about that, too.
Ringo showing up with breakfast in bed for Julia? Really? Does he have a death wish?
The “Madame” aka former teacher was a hoot.
Oh, Diana, I may have given you some of the conversations, but you, my friend have spun them into gold in addition to the rest of your recap. And, of course, your prologue is something only you could write so well and with such finesse. Like Judy, I was taken by:
As human beings, we often rush to judgement and sadly, do not keep our opinions to ourselves. The often given into urge to speak before we think can be devastating. We misspeak. Sometimes badly, with or without malice. We may try to explain, to correct, to apologize but once spoken, we cannot truly take words back. Once uttered, words float into the air, criss crossing, tangling and mangling, taking on a life of their own.
Truer words have never been spoken. In addition to that, you had me laughing with "Dinnertime at the Bickersons;" "Is it the three wise men? No unfortunately, it’s the three stooges;" and, "Next, Oso and Rosa. And goody, he’s cutting onions – here come the tears, like he needed any reason to cry (which he can do on a dime)."
JudyB, "Felt rather sorry for Gloria (can you believe I said that!?)" Yes, I can! Actually there are times when Gloria does seem to be palatable. She shows sincere concern about Santi being hurt by Turco's outbursts and attacks on Ringo. And now that we know that she was faithful to Ringo, she gained a point...maybe two :-) THough she will probably lose those quite quickly.
Jarifa, I liked the way Oso found out about Rafa, too...finally! And yes, I do catch those attempts by Rafa to stifle a laugh.
Ringo taking Julia her breakfast was a bit hard to swallow. How is it that a security guard takes the daughter of his employer breakfast? Does he have free rein of the house?
Alexander, thanks for the info. I'm not looking forward to recapping 2 hour episodes :-/ BTW on Friday, December 20th, Ringo will air from 8:30 -10:00 since Amor Eterno will air from 7:00 - 8:30.
Nina, you basically got it all!
This episode featured bombshell confrontations, lies, and a lot of yelling. Bullets were dodged, and Kemal was as angry as we've ever seen him.
We open calmly enough with Kemal and Asu relaxing on the couch watching a movie. Asu has her eyes on Kemal, but he is focused on the film.
Zeynep texts Asu, she wants to get together. Asu tells Kemal she's meeting Zeynep at a cafe for some "girl talk." Kemal thanks her, and offers to drive her, but Asu takes a taxi. Kemal calls trusty Zehir to keep an eye on Asu.
Nihan, suspicious after asking Zeynep where she was going, is following Zeynep in her car.
Asu and Zeynep meet. Zeynep: "I'm sorry!" Confused Asu: "why?" Emir emerges: "She brought you to me." Zeynep: "I had to do this to save my baby...sorry." Zeynep leaves.
In separate cars, both Zehir and Nihan watch and wonder what's going on. Zehir calls Kemal to report.
Emir tells Asu they're going to a surprise place. You knew you couldn't hide from me forever, he tells Asu. They get into Emir's car. Zehir, Nihan, and now Kemal follow in separate cars.
Emir and Asu arrive at his "fortress," [a deserted warehouse I don't know if we've seen before]. Emir: you are my torment [verdugo], I will never be your brother. Are you after my inheritance? I want to know about the last 5 or 6 years, not your pathetic childhood. I should have known you had Kozcuoglu blood!
Asu: You nearly found out several times.
Emir: What happened with my mother was not my fault.
Asu: Galip is the guilty one. He is my enemy. I wanted to be with my mother and hold her hand. I did that. I wanted to see the eyes of my father. I did that. I wanted to talk to my brother. I've done all these things.
Emir: Family is important. I'm opening the road to you by bringing you to my fortress.
Asu scoffs: You brought me her to acorralarme [trap, corner, intimidate].
Emir: I want to know you better.
Emir has moved behind Asu, put on gloves, and says "I want to hear you breathe, because now I leave you without breath." Emir holds a gun to the back of Asu's head.
Meanwhile, Nihan and Kemal have arrived and are separately trying to get into the building.
Emir tells Asu that the gun has Kemal's fingerprints [flashback to Emir switching some guns]. Emir moves from behind Asu to put the gun to her forehead, "I'll blow your brains out." Asu shows no fear. Emir continues, Kemal will go to prison, it will be a killing between business associates, and I'll be the winner!
Clara
"The Rafael character looks like he is trying to stifle a laugh in some of these dramatic scenes throughout the series". Doesn't he Jarifa!? I always enjoy it when I feel there is camaraderie among the actors, and for several reasons I feel it here. We've been saying that quite a few have acted together before, so I want to believe they are having fun. And the actor had such a hard role in Caer, I'm glad this is lighter fare.
And I loved "Ringo showing up with breakfast in bed for Julia? Really? Does he have a death wish?" Jarifa. Grand. Thank you so much for your support...
Rgv Chick, well, I couldn't have done this without you! You laid the critical foundation. I'm so glad you laughed! I had so much fun with that scene. And perhaps Gloria will be redeemable. She is Santi's mother so perhaps...still, I see a wild, green eyed monster jealousy rising when Ringo and Julia start getting together. Thank you for everything!
Looks like Ringo is being pre-empted so no show tonight.
Diana
Asu shows no fear with gun between her eyes. You can't leave me without breath, because your life depends on what I can say. Do you think after all these years I never thought you'd want to kill me? All those incriminating videos are going to the police, including the audio of you negotiating with Karen. Ozan will be free, and you'll be behind bars. I have the proof to save or destroy you.
Emir: then I need those videos. Your uncle has them, where is he? and is he really your uncle, anyway? I can kill you before I find him.
Enter our hero. Emir hides the gun, says to Asu "your Prince Charming has arrived, bad timing as usual."
Kemal demands to know what's going on? Looks at Asu and says, "there's nothing you can't tell me." But Emir says "she has her secrets, too."
Pregnant pause.
Asu blurts out: Zeynep's baby is Emir's!
WHAT?????
Nihan is now in the room.
Emir: that's a lie.
Furious Kemal turns on Emir, did you dare touch her? Emir snidely replies, I don't like losers [nefasta] like your sister. Kemal charges at Emir, and the gun falls out. Kemal asks Asu, did he threaten you with this? Asu says no.
Kemal is yelling at Asu did he dare touch my sister.....turns to Emir, if you dared touch her, you're a dead man! Emir repeats it's a lie. Screaming Kemal orders Asu to answer.
Asu says "Nihan told me." Nihan to Asu: "how dare you?" Kemal to Nihan "you? You used Zeynep for vengeance?" Nihan admits it: yes, it was only fair. You betrayed my brother, so why not?"
Asu and Kemal leave [with the gun, I think.]
Clara
In the car, Kemal insists Asu tell him the truth, now! Asu is scrambling and sticking to her story that Nihan told her Zeynep was pregnant by Emir, showing Kemal her recent text to Zeynep about Nihan. Kemal sees the holes in Asu's story and has a lot of questions: what was Emir doing at the meet-up? why did Emir pull a gun on you? And the biggie, why aren't you telling me the truth?
Kemal is also flashing back on bits that suuport involvement between Zeynep and Emir, and is realizing that Nihan only admitted it just now to prevent Kemal from killing Emir.
Kemal tells Asu he trusts her, and asks if Asu believes Zeynep and Emir have a relationship. Asu says: I don't think so. It's a lie. Nihan is lying.
Frustrated Kemal says he's getting to the bottom of it right now. He calls Zeynep and tells her to get outside and wait for him.
A random scene stuck in here of Banu texting Emir: "I did what you wanted. We'll set a date tomorrow" [wedding date with Tariq? and I'm not sure why Banu does Emir's bidding]
In the glass house, a furious Kemal demands Zeynep tell him if she's involved with Emir:
Zeynep: No!
Kemal: Why would Nihan say so?
Zeynep: Vengeance. She lies about me. She [? Vildan?] also says Salih is the father!
Kemal: I want to know everything!
Zeynep: I can't handle this stress.
Kemal: You're staying HERE. You're not going back to that house.
Zeynep: I need to be with Ozan.
And suddenly there he is, Ozan has gotten out of bed. He arrives looking for Zeynep. Sleepily asks: What's going on?
Kemal answers, "your family says the baby is not yours!"
Ozan: My mother?
Kemal: No, Nihan!
Shocked and confused Ozan declares to Zeynep that he'll go straighten this out with his family and she'll come back to him. Ozan leaves to take care of this, and we end here.
~~~~~
This was a doozy and I did my best with the fast and furious dialogue. I watch only once in real time and when I scribble notes I'm looking away from the screen. The tale seems to be getting more and more tangled.
Kemal snapped defending his "innocent" sister. Have to admit impressed with Asu keeping her cool at gunpoint, holding her own with Emir, and also spinning a lie that would both deflect the situation and serve her own interests with Kemal.
Clara
I managed to see Nihan tearing up after Asu and Kemal left. I understand that she sacrifices herself a lot for others, but why can’t she just be selfish and throw everyone under the bus to save herself?
I’d hate to watch the Sezins humiliate themselves to Zeynep, all for Ozan’s sake. If only the truth could blow up in her face! I don’t think she cares for the baby, she’s just trying to trap Emir and his money. I hope Kemal realizes that something else is holding Zeynep into that hell house, and that she’s really not the innocent sister she appears to be.
Asu was really good at her lie, but what would happen when Kemal finds out she knew the whole time about Zeynep and Emir? I hated that she shifted the blame to Nihan. It was smart of her to bring the paternity question up though, because he won’t stop until he discovers the truth. How sad that Kemal is willing to confront Emir once and for all for Zeynep, but not for Nihan.
I still don’t understand how it is that Hakki and Asu got the surveillance videos of the murder. Did I miss something? They’re the ones who actually set up Linda to die, right? How else did they know that Emir planned this? Linda supposedly was wearing bloodbags. She was supposed to live.
AnonFri
Thank you, Clara. As usual I missed quite a bit of the episode so I appreciate all the details you shared.
I have to laugh at your comment that the tale seems more and more tangled because if it is getting difficult for you and AnonFri to untangle this mess, you can imagine how confused I get. But, thanks to you and AnonFri, I can get the gist of what is going on.
It seems to me that just about everyone in this TN is a master at lying. In addition to Asu, Zeynep also did a pretty good job of lying to Kemal when he confronted her.
Asu throws nihan Under the bus. I do
Not remember seeing nihan tell asu
About the baby being emir's. And She really wants kemal to hate nihan. That
Ain't happening. Nihan does not want kemal to waste his life in prison, For wiping out emir's sorry life, that's why she said for revenge for what he did to ozan.
Why why why is banu still doing emir's
Bidding? What is wrong with these nut
Bound people. Why do they work for this man. He made her abort her baby,
Tufan has been beaten up,threatened &
Beaten up again by emir and still he
Works for this psycho. What is with these people? I hope he knows that he asu cannot be trusted. She Knows how to spin a lie. Just like her liar of a
Brother. Alright kemal get to work.
Thank you Clara. This was delicious.
PS, kemal did take the fun with him.
When is nihan gonna get sick of the
Twilight zone she's living in?
(1)
Nihan is sitting before her canvas, holding a paintbrush (?). Emir sits there behind her, observing. She has enough and tells him several times to get out of her room. When he doesn’t budge, she throws her paint brush to the floor. Emir says “I can’t. You’re torturing yourself because now Kemal hates you. Stop it now.” Nihan says that she hates him with all her being, and adds “What can you expect, after you touched her?” Emir responds “I assure that me and Zeynep had nothing to do with each other.”
Nihan says with much anger: “That baby is yours, Emir. Tell the truth.” He denies with a simple “no.”
“You’re so repugnant,” she says, with much disgust.
Ozan suddenly barges in and demands: “What do you want to get out of this?”
Nihan is even more annoyed now but simply says she shouldn’t be the one to blame for that.
Ozan says in a disgusted tone: “You’ve fallen very low.”
Emir puts a stop to Ozan by telling him to keep quiet and he starts leading him out of the room, but Ozan gets even more self-righteous and threatens her: “From now on, I’ll keep my wife safe from both of you. If you ever lie like this again, forget that you ever had a brother.”
Nihan stares at him like he’s the most ungrateful being she’s seen. She stands in her room alone, sighs and throws her jacket to the floor. She sits down and can’t bring herself to work on the canvas.
Outside, Ozan asks “Why would Nihan do something like this? Why would she invent such a lie?” Emir takes the opportunity to feed Ozan’s anger towards Nihan, claiming he can’t believe that made up that lie about his wife.
Ozan says “I swear that I don’t recognize my sister. She’s so mad that she’s not thinking straight. This is all Kemal’s fault, he’s the reason she’s doing all these bad things.”
Emir offers advice: “The important thing is that you want to be with Zeynep. You’re the husband, go get her back. Act like it.”
“I don’t think she wants to come back after this,” Ozan says, “What Nihan invented was not right.”
Emir suggests that Ozan and Zeynep go off to live elsewhere, so that they’ll never be bothered by anyone ever again. Ozan claims that Kemal would never permit such a thing, and he can’t leave without the criminal case closing beforehand.
“Maybe there’s another solution” Ozan says.
“Like what?”
“I shouldn’t run away, I should confront this so that I can live freely.” Ozan walks out, determined.
Emir looked like he was thinking that Ozan is retarded.
Zeynep is begging Kemal to go back to the Sezin’s house. Asu agrees with her, saying that his home isn’t safe for her and that she should be with her husband. Kemal is thinking it over and eventually asks “Are you sure you want to be with him?” She replies: “Yes, brother. Ozan needs me at his side.” Kemal suggests that they also rent a home elsewhere. Zeynep reluctantly agrees. She tells Kemal not to tell her parents or Tariq anything about this. Kemal can’t believe that she doesn’t want him to say anything about the fact that Nihan made up this incredible lie. Zeynep says that she’ll resolve this problem herself. She begs him again not to say anything.
(2)
Ozan knocks on the glass door. Zeynep opens, but tells him that Kemal is very upset right now. Ozan doesn’t care and says that he’s there to take her with him. She claims it’s impossible, and he offers that they stay at a hotel while they resolve this issue. Zeynep wants to know how the problem will go away, and he says “A paternity test.” Zeynep bursts with “What?” but he continues “That way we’ll prove that the child is mine.” She throws a fit: she can’t believe that he believes Nihan. Kemal walks up to the door and says he will not allow him to put his sister’s honor to the test. Ozan maintains that the test is necessary for his family to shut up. Kemal says that if he accepts that test being done, then he’s also accepting the possibility that Emir may have touched his sister. He concludes that this paternity test will not happen and pulls Zeynep towards him and adamantly says that Zeynep will stay at his house tonight, if he wants to join her, he’s welcome to. Ozan claims that he will not spend the night in the house of the man who reported him to the police. Kemal says that he and Zeynep can’t be together then. As Zeynep enters the home, Ozan yells that he will find a way to resolve this. He goes home. Asu suggests to Kemal that they go back into the house too, but he grabs his coat and heads out, claiming he’s going to resolve several pending problems. He drives off, with the gun in his glove compartment.
Asu watches Kemal drive away and receives a text from Tufan, requesting a call. She walks into the patio and Tufan says that he found Hakki. Apparently he’s at the house next door from Mujan’s. Asu wants the address, but he says he’ll never give it to her because it would put her at risk. He claims he’ll get the videos for her. Asu doesn’t care; she needs to confront Hakki because if it wasn’t for Kemal she would have died.
Kemal is at the seaside, holding the gun as he looks out to the glistening sea. His eyes are tearing up and he suddenly flings the gun into the water. He thinks back to Nihan admitting that she lied about the paternity of Zeynep’s baby. Leyla interrupts his flashback and offers him her support.
“I still can’t believe this, how could this happen, how could Nihan be capable of this?” Kemal says.
“I don’t know but she must have a good reason” Leyla responds.
“It seems like she’s changed. She’s not the same person anymore.”
“What do you mean by that?” She asks.
“Maybe you’ve been right. I need to fall in love with someone else.”
“How do you plan to do that?”
He hesitates but says: “I’m very frustrated. And furious.”
Leyla rubs his arm.
Emir is home, thinking back again to the two opportunities he had when holding his gun at Asu’s head. He dials Tufan and says that he better be doing his job and keeping his eye on Asu, because if he doesn’t do as told, he’ll know that his minion is on his sister’s side. Tufan feigns not to understand and Emir clears up that he knows Asu is his sister. Just then Galip interrupts Emir. “If a father can’t reach his son, he must find a way to go talk to him.” Emir claims that he’s busy and doesn’t have time for him. He sits down facing his desk. Galip asks “Emir, you’ve found your brother, right?” Emir gets noticeably bothered, but it doesn’t stop Galip from asking who the sibling is. Emir isn’t complying and Galip threatens “Don’t make me go and investigate this myself.” Emir simply says “If I accomplish what I’m planning, you’ll soon find out.” He exits the room and Galip stands still, thinking.
Tufan is in his car with Asu, saying that Emir told him he has a sister. Asu says that Emir isn’t afraid of anything and that’s why she really needs those videos or he’ll kill her. Tufan assures her that he’ll get them, and she says that if he doesn’t, she’ll have to kill herself first before Emir does.
Kemal gets a call from Zehir, who wants to know what’s happened. Kemal simply says that it’s been a long night. “Should I continue keeping watch over Asu?” Kemal asks that he does, but also requests he find Hakki, who probably knows a lot about this.
Asu and Tufan are still in his car, discussing about getting their hands on the surveillance videos. She wants to go in and confront her uncle. Tufan tries to convince her not to go, since Hakki would very likely not hand them over anyway. He shows her realtime footage of Hakki sitting on his sofa, completely unaware of a bulky camera spying on him by the big sculpture near the foyer.
The next morning, Leyla is by the seaside patio (at her house?), wearing a bright red dress. Nihan shows up and they both sit down.
Leyla begins talking: “What did you do this time, Nihan? Why did you betray him like that? Are you not aware of what you’ve done?”
Nihan holds her silence and can’t look Leyla in the eyes.
“You’ve told me your suspicions about her, but why are you lying that way about Zeynep? I really can’t believe you’ve done this.”
“Because I had to” Nihan barely says.
“I can’t believe that you would lie, you could have just told him that you’ve been having suspicions.”
Nihan says “I had to do it. I can’t solve this problem anymore. I love Kemal, but we can’t continue living like this.”
“So you thought that by doing this you’d get Kemal to hate you and get rid of him that way? You’re protecting him? You’ve betrayed him. You need to talk to him and soon.” Leyla continues urging her: “He needs to know about your suspicions. He thinks that you lied about his sister. You should tell the truth because after this, there will be no coming back. Being betrayed is enough to end everything. He’ll stop loving you. I’m sure you don’t want this to happen.”
“I did it for him,” She coldly says.
“Don’t tell me that Nihan. Stop trying to be someone you’re not, or he’ll hate you. Stop not being yourself”
“Kemal will never hate me, no matter what happens” Nihan says.
“That’s what you’ve been thinking all this time. You know, if you keep doing this to Kemal, you’ll regret it. You’ll deeply regret it.”
Nihan looks away and thinks about what she should do.
Zeynep is with Emir in his car.
“I hope you’re excited. You should be feeling very comfortable to here with me” Emir says.
“I’m very nervous with everything that’s been happening. So no, Emir, I’m not excited at all.”
Emir claims that she’s the one who married Ozan and so they’re both responsible for the situation. Zeynep reminds Emir that he’s actually the one who started it all.
“I could have killed you, but I didn’t. It was a mistake.”
“And now that’s double” she says.
“I think you’re right.”
“Ozan will do a paternity test. I’m afraid about the results” she says.
“I’m sure that it’s his son” Emir says confidently.
“What if it’s not? What will we do?”
“The tests will prove that that’s his baby. I’ll make sure of it. You just have to tell where you’ll do the test, and I’ll take care of the rest.”
“And what do you want in exchange?”
“If you want revenge for what Nihan did to you, tell me now.”
“What are you talking about?” she asks.
“Do you want revenge?”
She bobs her head yes, confused.
“Just do as I say. If you follow my instructions, you’ll see that my plan will work. That way we’ll both win. You’ll thank me for helping you.”
Zeynep has her constipated face on.
Tufan is outside Hakki’s new home. He’s on the phone, trying to convince Asu not to go see her uncle.
Asu claims that she needs to do this. She hangs up and heads out of her office, but Kemal catches her and asks where she’s going. She says she’s going to go to a spa to relax. Kemal believes it’s a bad idea because she shouldn’t be alone, but Asu tells him she really needs to go. He watches her leave and then goes up to Asli, to ask if Asu will be coming back to the office. The secretary says that in half an hour, Asu has a meeting that she has to attend. Kemal calls Zehir, who claims to be following Asu right now. Kemal asks him not to lose sight of her and to investigate everything he can.
Kemal walks out of the Kozcouglu Holding building and gets a call from Nihan. He lets the phone ring for a long time. Nihan is getting anxious, but Leyla tells her to insist on getting through. He finally picks up and says “What do you want?” Nihan immediately starts rambling “Kemal we need to talk, it’s very important. I’ll be at the same place we always meet. It’s important that I talk to you. I know that you’ll be there.” She hangs up and Kemal looks a little frustrated.
Zeynep is alone in the backseat of the car, being driven to the laboratory. She’s thinking back to Emir’s proposition.
“What do you think?” Emir eagerly asks, “Are we going to do it?”
She bobs her head yes, not completely convinced.
“Good choice,” Emir says.
Ozan disturbs her thoughts and calls her at that moment.
“I’m almost there,” she answers but quickly hangs up. She’s looking anxious.
Banu is walking down the steps of her home, calling Emir. She’s demanding to know why Emir doesn’t answer her any of her calls. “What do you want me to do?” she asks, “First you tell me to marry Tariq, and then not to? What are you playing?” Emir tells her to do as he says, because Tariq needs to recognize what he has to lose, before she finally gets to marry him.
Ozan asks the medical technologist when the results would be ready. He gets a response of about ten days. As Ozan and Zeynep the room, he says “This isn’t about you, it’s just to show everyone that they’re wrong.” Zeynep replies “I know Ozan. This is your son. I’m just worried about something else.” She walks out onto the street fast, making him chase her. When he gets a hold of her, she says “The dr said the results will come in ten days. I don’t know if you’ll be able to wait that long.”
“I have no other choice, I’ll have to wait.”
Zeynep lays the trap: “We should runaway. I’m afraid Ozan, we need to escape I don’t want to risk losing you again.”
Ozan reminds her that he can’t leave the country.
Zeynep tries to convince him: “Let’s escape. You need to believe me, if we leave we’ll be happy together. The three of us.”
A lightbulb moment finally seems to happen in Ozan’s brain when he says “You’re just trying to punish my family.”
Zeynep doesn’t deny that. “It would be fair. I can’t be happy, why should they?”
“Zeynep, we can’t do this,” he barely tries reasoning with her.
“Emir can help us, I’m sure he can be of great help to us. This is a good idea, Ozan” She pleads.
He stands there like the dimwit he is, thinking about it.
Nihan waits by the well, looking nervous. Meanwhile, Kemal is shown walking around the forest, trying to get ahold of someone by phone. It seems like he moves a branch and sees her sitting by the well (unsure if that is accurate). At that moment Nihan dials Leyla, trying not to cry: “He won’t come.”
Kemal continues walking and finally gets ahold of Zehir. “I’m here. Is Asu ok?” he asks.
Zehir says he’s still following her and that she’s heading out of the city. Kemal says he will soon be there, and continues walking through the forest.
Alien phone call comes in to Emir as he’s driving. It’s Ozan, requesting to speak to him in person with Zeynep. Emir says he’ll let him know when he’s available and hangs up.
Hakki enters his apartment with groceries. He starts to feel unwell and is gripping the backrest of the dining chair. When he turns around, he finds Asu sitting in the living room. They both resentfully stare at each other. He asks how she found him, but she claims that she’ll be the one asking the questions. Hakki blatantly says he won’t answer any of them.
“You betrayed me, and you hid because you’re feeling guilty. Now you’re going to pay for it. Don’t you love me?” She asks.
“I love you a lot, but this is something that had to happen. There’s a reason for it, and your mother was really bothered by it. I tried to forget about it, but couldn’t. It was about either winning or dying.”
Asu looks at him with resent and says “You’re just as bad as Emir and Galip. How can you be so cruel?”
“If you don’t do it, you’ll die” Hakki says, unfazed by the comment.
“I made a deal with Emir. He wants the videos in exchange for my life.”
Hakki is unmoved and says “You shouldn’t have done it. You have nothing to offer him.”
Asu starts losing her patience and demands “Listen, I know those videos are in this house. Give them to me.” Just then her phone starts ringing. Tufan is outside, trying to warn Asu that someone is going up to the door. Kemal is the one knocking. Hakki answers it and Kemal is taken aback when he sees both of them standing there.
“Asu, why didn’t you tell me that you were coming here? I was very worried” Kemal asks.
Hakki says “I didn’t want to, but I need to talk to you.”
As Kemal enters the house, Asu looks at her uncle and shakes her head no, silently begging him not to tell Kemal the truth. Kemal begins the conversation: “Mr. Hakki, you’re sick, why are you here? Asu told me that you have enemies, tell me who they are. Please tell me everything.” Hakki doesn’t want to tell him anything, claiming that it’s to protect him. Kemal doesn’t care and begs to know what’s going on. Hakki simply tells him that he’s living there to spend his last days and doesn’t want anyone to bother him anymore. Kemal says he’ll never abandon him, but Hakki says that if he really loves him, he’ll have to do as told. Kemal stays silent. Hakki takes the opportunity to request that he protect Asu, and she protests by saying “Uncle, please, not like this.” There’s a silent pause. Hakki breaks it and requests that they leave him alone now. But he reiterates that he wants Kemal to marry Asu, that they continue on with their lives and be happy. Asu asks that he not say that, but Kemal interrupts and says “Don’t be embarrassed Asu, it’s an idea I’ve been contemplating.” Hakki abruptly tells them that he will leave the premises now. He barely hugs Kemal first, then stiffly goes to Asu and as he’s holding her he whispers “My good charity act for you.” He walks out of there like nothing. Asu asks Kemal to do something to stop her uncle from leaving, but he responds that he can’t because that’s Hakki’s last wish. “Let him define his destiny,” he says.
Tufan watches Hakki being driven away in a large black car.
Kemal and Asu are still standing in the living room, in silence. He then tells Asu that they should leave the house. Asu agrees with him, claiming that there’s nothing else to do now. They both walk out and she gets into his car. Tufan watches them drive out of there too. As soon as they’re gone, he enters the house and goes directly for the safe, which he remembers having seen Hakki fiddle with it earlier. He manages to open the safe and finds a hotel keycard for room #2214. Tufan wonders what it means.
Asu and Kemal have been quiet in the car. Just as Kemal asks her if she’s ok, she receives a message from Tufan, who claims he will get the videos for her soon, and that she should believe in him. Asu tells Kemal “I’ll be ok. How did you know where I was?” When she looks at the right mirror and notices Zehir following them, she smiles and says “You followed me, Kemal.” He replies: “I was curious and wanted to follow you.” Then he apologizes for having done that and says that next time she should tell him where she’s going. Asu sits there, unsure if she should be happy about that.
I guess Kemal really got tired of Nihan's games. She's just frustrating to watch because she's always fumbling around. She makes a choice and then easily regrets it right after. She should have never let Asu get away with the lie. Why doesn't Asu want Kemal to know that she's Emir's sibling? Does she think he'd never want to marry her because of it?
I'm guessing Zeynep is sick and tired of Ozan and really wants to get rid of him by sending him straight to prison. I wonder if Emir will try to get two birds with one stone, and kill her off.
Highly doubtful Tufan betraying Asu, but who knows anymore? Everyone betrays everyone else in this novela.
When Ozan barged into Nihan's room like that, all I kept thinking was that she should have told him his truths. But then again, he's aware he's selfish. He just really doesn't care about anyone else. This character is insufferable.
Thanks, Diana. It's been great catching up with Ringo this weekend. Super title and prologue. The running theme of Thursday's episode hadn't occurred to me, but now it's so obvio, especially: The often given into urge to speak before we think can be devastating.
Ouch, Ringo hit below the belt in letting Turco know that Gloria had sought him out after she'd hooked up with Turco. I do get Ringo's frustrations with Turco's repeated insults though. Now, Gloria's got some explaining to do.
The let's make up with Santi by bringing him a lot of dishes in Tupperware was nonsense but kind of cute. I confess I'm a sucker for men preparing food in any way. Loved it when Ringo's mom put her foot down about throwing out the food.
Kudos to Diego of all people for suggesting Ivan get some professional help for Brenda.
I had no clue what was going on with Manuel and the meeting with the ladies flaunting their boobage. Now it makes sense.
Yikes, we're headed for double episodes. Maybe to lighten the load of our fabulous recappers, we could all contribute bullets?
Well, of all the nerve! Ozan got the balls to tell his sister. "You've fallen very low".? She's gone through 5 years of hell because of that ungrat
-ful selfish spoiled brat pretending to be a man. She should have got up an
Slapped the hell out of him. But he's
Not The only one at fault, she could have spoken up. But she chose to keep protecting her whimp of a useless ungrateful jerk Of a brother. She better hurry up and Find a way to get to kemal and tell him the truth, or he might end up at The alter with that lying ass-u.
I'm glad he got rid Of the gun. Now he
Needs to get rid of some other things.
Thank you AnonFri. Very good recap.
Thanks Niecie!
I did think Ringo sunk to Turco's level by letting him know Gloria handn't let go. And I suppose that Turco is earnestly trying to make Santi comfortable (although I think needling Ringo is a bonus). It's just a bad situation and I'm grateful Teresa is there as a voice of reason.
I also think some of Manuel's scenes were cut and there's been no continuity. Thank heavens Rgv Chick understands everything where I certainly do not. :)
Recapping (or in my case even trying)to recap double episodes Christmas week will be brutal and really, just not possible for me. Your suggestion of help was very much appreciated Niecie! Rgv Chick will be commenting on this further.
Diana
AnonFri, you outdid yourself once again with the Friday recap, thanks!
I thought Tufan had found the videos in Hakki's safe, so appreciate that detail of the hotel key. The only way I think Hakki could have obtained the videos is via Tufan somehow. Didn't understand what Hakki said to Asu about what her mother wanted. Didn't Mujan lose the ability to communicate many, many years ago?
So Kemal is sadly realizing it;s time to move on. He feels alone and tired, Nihan is a mess lately, he believes she lied to him, it has been many years of frustration, after all.
Asu is the logical choice, even though Kemal isn't close to being in love with her and knows it: they look great together, have a long friend and business relationship, he's loyal to her uncle, his mother Fehime adores her, etc., etc., and she's already living in his house! Compared to Nihan, Asu has a calm temperament, and of course Kemal is in the dark about her secrets and dirty dealings.
Obvious speculation. Since TN rules will not allow them to sleep together, discovering Asu has Kozcoglou blood will likely derail things. That news will be a real turn-off to Kemal, I think. Guessing since Tufan has declared his love for Asu, he could betray her to Kemal, and Kemal remains loyal to Amor Eterno.
On to a new week and fin de temporada!
Thanks again, AnonFri!
