ETERNAMENTE AMANDONOS #114

Notes from the couch . . .

Page 1

PAULA (aka despondency personified) is still in her funk.

Paula asks Eva to leave her mother's grave reminding her that she is one who really has the right to be there. Paula cries her heart out to her mother. She cannot imagine how anyone could reject a child but is not judging her. When she found out that they didn't want her, it broke her heart and ruined her fantasies but it turned her into a strong woman. She is sure that if she met Jazz, she would love her. She is going to reconstruct the past she needs to be happy. She thanks her parents for giving her life and will honor them with every step she takes.

A suddenly more compassionate Rogelio tells Paula he is worried about her being so closed off. She acknowledges that she saw Eva at the cemetery but does't want to talk to her. Rogelio asks what about him. She reminds him she is talking to him right now but she's tired. She leaves the room.

Rogelio goes to talk to Cecilia about how to help Paula only to find out that Paula is also angry with her. She assures him she will help him when Paula cools down. Cecilia wonders to herself what Paula is doing.

Blanca talks to Paula reminding her what advice she gave to her when she tried to commit suicide. She told her that she had to face her problems. She learned that life is beautiful. Blanca says she and everyone else misses her. Blanca loves her so much. Paula loves her, too, and thanks her

Th new and improved Imelda tells Paula she she is also worried about her. She admires and respects Paula. She cares about what happens to her and hopes that some day Paula can forgive her for all of the mean things she did to her. She has hopes for a more healthy relationship. Paula is grateful to her for telling her all of that.

Rogelio visits Eva to see if he can find out more about what is going on. Eva isn't talking but does tell him that she made a mistake. She wanted to rescue Paula when she was little but she went about it in the wrong way. She doesn't know what she will do if Paula doesn't forgive her. Rogelio doesn't understand but comforts her and says he is going to help her. Rogelio fills in a worried Fidel on the conversation and tells him that he didn't find out anything new.

Rogelio calls Paula and invites her to come to Pedro's restaurant for a surprise. She doesn't feel like it but finally gives in with the promise that she will try to be in a better mood. Paula gets to the restaurant and is overwhelmed when after telling her that he bought the restaurant, Rogelio shows her that he has named it "La Cocina de Ana." Seeing the sign brings back a memory of a similar sign that her parents had for their restaurant. She sees herself as a child seated in the background listening to her parents argue. Her father tells her mother that if she had never gotten pregnant, they could have made a go of the restaurant. She asks Rogelio why he used that name. He said that the did it for her thinking it would bring back good memories. It was supposed to be a surprise. She gets teary and angry and tells him he doesn't understand a thing. He counters with he has no idea what is going on. (DUH! If she doesn't tell him what is going on, how is he supposed to know? He is not a MIND READER. Time to wrap up this plot)

That was the end of the episode.

EVERYTHING ELSE:

IMELDA AND FERNANDO decide to give their marriage another try.

MICAELA makes some pumpkin buñuelos for Felipa and Melitón to thank them for getting her to notice Honorio. She asks whose idea it was. Felipa wants to take full credit but Melitón won't let her. Felipa wants to know what Honorio thought when he got those notes from an admirer. Honorio answers that he thought the person had terrible handwriting. (Ha!! HA! This was my favorite scene)

BEATRIZ is not giving up trying to get her foundation going and orders close to three thousand dollars in blankets for a shelter. She does a bank transfer when they are delivered. Rubén calls her immediately and is upset. She doesn't know what the problem is. He tells her one more time that he doesn't want to be involved in any of her nonsense. Beatriz could not care less and tries to buy some food for the shelter only to find out that Rubén has changed the passwords on the account. He will not allow her to take any money from the account without his approval. Then he will give her the money in cash. Beatriz is not happy but will not be bested. She reorders the food and takes one of Rubén's designer watches and gives it to the delivery man for payment. He is reluctant at first but when she includes the original bill of sale so he cannot be accused of theft, he takes it.

IGNACIO picks up his son at the music school. Cecilia witnesses him and Rciardp getting along extremely well as Ricardo gives him tips on babies. It is as if she isn't even there. (I liked this scene , too)

GABRIEL asks ANDREA if she is sure about getting married. Andrea says that Marcelo is a great guy, he understands her and she feels really good with him . Gabriel says "feeling really good" with somebody is nothing to base a marriage on. He has always respected her feelings but is going to give her one last piece of advice. She needs to always follow her feelings. ALWAYS.

LUIS comes to see ANDREA before her wedding ceremony. He finally has mustered up the guts to tell her how he feels. He loves her. She says he can't do that to her now but he says that is exactly what he is doing. What does she feel for him? She knows that she will learn to love Marcelo. He only needs to know if she loves him. She hates him! He admits that he has been coward but no more. It is up to her. He is willing to disappear from her life forever. She feels terrible he has taken it to this extreme but grabs then him and kisses him anyway.

Andrea and Luis try to sneak out out of the wedding venue but run into Martina and Gabriel on the way out. Martina knows exactly what is going on and smiles. Gabriel tells Andrea to be careful running in her shoes she has on. Martina tells them to hurry out of there. After they leave, Martina chuckles about "those two kids". Gabriel asks "Now what?" They fill Marcelo in on what just happened. He is disappointed but since he loves Andrea , he only wishes the best for her and would never say anything bad about her. He will tell the guests.

Luis and Andrea go to a restaurant for tacos only to find out that the restaurant is being used as a movie set. They pretend to be the actors for that particular scene and order champagne.

That is all from me. Please add anything I left out.

Minas

This week has been very busy, only now I had the time to thank Diana for her splendid recaps. Something of course had to pop up last minute, so both Thursday's and Friday's recaps will be up in the weekend. Sorry everyone.

Eternamente

Jarifa, thank you so much for another fantastic recap from your view on the couch. I am very busy right now ,so pausing for a few minutes to read your wonderful account of all the ups and downs of this show are an appreciated break.

The writers really played with us about Luis and Andrea. Will their drama stop after they get married ...I doubt it.

Paula, everybody's advisor and rock, is using everyone she loves as a punching bag. Some people do that knowing these people love them. It isn't easy to love them when they do that. What will suddenly bring Paula back to her old positive, hippy self ?

Beatriz is out of control. Ruben will divorce her . She is wasting her golden years being a bitter itch looking for power and recognition.

MINAS

Weirdo, thank you for your kind words!

I did take a few nights from last night's airing, I will post if that would be of any help. You can add what you'd like as your recaps always capture far more than mine. If not, at least something is up.

I can't take notes for tonight though if you could do it and post whenever you are able that would be wonderful.

MINAS #45 Brief Notes On The Fly

A placeholder with brief notes. Kindly add anything that I missed (which was quite a bit)

More posturing at the mines between Tigre and Roberta’s factions. Screaming and saber rattling ensue; Leo stands by his mother’s skirts. Roberta is spirited away as all hell breaks up; she calls Orlando and one of the men attacks Tigre. Oh goody, Sebas has Leo in a headlock, screaming at him about Sara and the two butt heads. Ezequiel arrives, firing shots in the air. Rob wants Tigre arrested and Ez trains his gun on Seba, Leo pushing it down. Orlando shows up and lets everyone go, the crowd dispenses. Tigre says something to him about La Patrona. Leo gives Sebas the stink eye.

Emilia and company meet the doctor and plastic surgeon. Aleida and Danilo say something about Emilia or her ghost. Roberta is a monster Aleida assures everyone.

Gigi gets defensive of HER decision to give her marriage another try. Addled is furious Sara told Sebas about his love child. She is scornful and dismissive.

Nico and Joaquina have a cute scene. Fidel and Shelob mate (my eyes, my eyes!!).

On his way home, Sebas is accosted by two men and beaten and kicked senseless. Yet after the savage beating, he gets up and stumbles home.

There are several cringe inducing scenes between Roberta and Leo. Roberta coos to him she is only concerned with your child, my grandchild; a wary Sara looks on, arms crossed. She wants them to get married. Tomorrow. Sara puts her hands up. Roberta cries crocodile tears.

Gael and Zaira minister to Tigre’s black eye.

Addled, eating while reclining tries some stomach churning “moves” to entice Gigi. She high kicks and her moves are far better. She talks about Roberta, his socio. He starts to put the moves on her, she rebuffs him, leaving with a terse “good night”.

Roberto lays it on thick as to how much she loves Leo. She gets up on her knees and hugs him. Pushes marrying Sara again. Leo is not enthused. They hug and she kind of rolls her eyes behind his back. Fool. After he looks at a picture of him, Emilia and Leo and recalls having a hugging session, collapsing on the couch and then taking the picture. He sobs in frustration seeing another pic of Emilia and Nico on the mantle. Laments out loud.

Pre-surgery, Emilia is also looking at a pic of Nico. She takes a picture of the Virgin down from the wall and asks her to protect Nico.

Geez, it’s wedding day. Sara is a short white lace dress her hair up with a veil halfway down her back. She looks nervous and unhappy.

Sebas is at his table when there is a knock on the door. He stumbles to open it and it’s Miriam. He collapses on the floor as she screams and cries over him.

At the not so happy wedding, Leo sits inside looking like a condemned man, which he is. Joaquina comes in. she says something about Emilia to which he says por favor. His tie is too loose and his pocket square too big. He talks about his child (which isn’t his).

Emilia has her mask off and is ready for surgery Aleida by her side. You are very brave she tells Em. She is given oxygen…

Jarifa,

There was intermittent joy here and there which I enjoyed immensely. Thank you for explaining exactly what was said and done in your always fine fashion. I could happily read your writing all day…

Felipa, Mica, Honorio and Meliton, the fab four are my favorite! “Honorio answers that he thought the person had terrible handwriting” was a gem I didn’t understand so thank you for translating that!

I also savored Cecilia watching the (almost unbelievable) scene where Ignacio is actually cordial to and accepts advice from the always affable Ricardo! Are pigs flying??

I was surprised Paula didn’t soften even the slightest bit meeting Eva at the grave! And yes, Rogelio has many faults but he “is not a MIND READER”. Enough with Paula’s dark funk…

I did like Blanca’s sweet speech to Paula; even Imelda is ready to tell Paula “basta” 😊

Luis and Andrea, no real surprise there. Marcelo deserves better…

Beatriz has passed the point of no return,..

Diana

Minas
Diana, thank you so much for the notes.
Leo asked Roberta to swear on Mauricio's memory that she didn't try to kill him. They make him stupider and stupider in every episode. Why would he trust this? She comes up with a story of how it was some woman whoblackmailed Roberta and whose son had died in the mine.
Than joaquina has to tell Leo he can still avoid a huge mistake by not marrying Sara. No paternity test and he just gives in to her threats. Didn't it occur to him he has a right to see his child and only needs to prove it's his? This plot is really absurd at this point. And i still want to know why they wrote Leo's character like this.
Sebas' desperation in the previous episode made me really believe he was suffering. I still am completely indifferent to Leo's mysery. He can talk all day long about how E was the love of his life, but in his case it's just empty words.
Stupid Sara put Seb in danger by taunting her father with her'he will give the child his surname' talk. I already am angry about the redemption she'll get. Why is it that the writers want to redeem someone like her? So is her reason for marrying Leo a fear everyone will know she slept with a random guy? Because she shouldn't be miserable if marriage was all she wanted. Unless she was stupid enough to expect Leo will jump for joy or will marry her willingly. How is it that some don't realise they had already lost the battle?

eternamente
I don't understand how Rogelio thought naming the restaurant after Paula's mum was a good idea when he knew something was going on. He has this habit of resorting to grand gestures. But it doesn't work every time. But I don't get why he went for this particular 'solution' when he had so little info. Why assume the restaurant will bring her good memories if she was so upset after reading the diary? And in general, why do something like this assuming it will make things better when Paula is clearly not in the kind of situation where this kind of thing would make her feel much better. I just honestly find this a weird choice for this situation. She asked him for space so why not give her what she wants instead of assuming you know what she wants?
So the groom isn't mad at all his bride dumped him. That's just nonsense. What is this plot doing in this story anyway? And it's apparently funny to Gabriel and Martina. Luis and Andrea deserve to be hit over the head with a pan. A good sartenazo is what they need. And what possessed Andrea to keep calling him and invite him to the wedding? Why do it if you are oh so happy? Luis apparentl just can't say know because who doesn't like a bit of emotional torture. Such a nice couple.
Imelda suddenly being so introspective is odd to me. It's hard for me to believe that someone as selfish as her would just start caring about Paula. I wonder what made her change.

Thank you Jarifa for your always fantastic notes from the couch! You always have the best notes in class! Or on the patio, lol

It's interesting how fast you can get tired of someone who is being bratty, even someone you like. Others are talking about snapping Paula out of it, I'm getting to where I'd like to slap her out of it! She's being insufferable, especially to Eva! I tried to imagine what my reaction would be if one of my nieces or nephews told me they were the ones who deserved to be at my sibling's grave... a) may it never happen! I'd like all my siblings to outlive me please, and b) I have known each and every one of my siblings at least twice as long as any of their children have and much better.... the entitlement of that, I am the one who deserves to be here! Wow!!! I could go on and on but I won't.

I know Eva feels guilty and I understand why, but I don't agree that it's her fault that Paula's parents are dead. Paula's mom and dad were fully functioning adults who made a CHOICE to help Eva and the result of that choice is what the result is. I am not clear on how exactly the accident happened, if the thugs caused the accident, then it's the thug's fault and if it was an accident, it was an accident.

I agree that Rogelio isn't a mindreader but I also agree with waterlily. You don't have to be a mind reader to get that a person who is having issues with discovering something that is troubling to them from their childhood might not be comforted by something that reminds them of childhood, you just have to be a not self-absorbed BLOCKHEAD. :)

I agree highlight of the night was the link about Meliton having bad handwriting!

I find it interesting that Paula talks a lot about the value of family and how you have to do this and that for the family. Hell, she even talked about not divorcing in order not to upset Rog's mum or something similar. But her parents did exactly that: wanted to help a family member. That it ended the way it did is not Eva's fault. Or does Eva take the blame for Paula's parents' decisions in Paula's mind? And what she said to Eva was entitled from my point of view. Paula and Rogelio sounde alike now. Rogelio is in general more focused on himself. But Paula is spending a lot of time just using everyone as her punching bag and it doesn't seem to be helping because she isn't getting any better. I think what makes this hard to watch is that if someone else was in this position, I'm willing to bet she would insist that person had to be understanding or just had this attitude 'I know how to fix it' I found this a bit annoying because it's easy to lecture other people. I am feeling a bit spiteful and think she needs a taste of her own medicine. Because interfering, even well-intentioned, can be insufferable. I still remember hertrying to convince Martina to go to Olimpia's shop openning, which irritated me to no end. It's like on some level she thinks she knows what's best/the right thing to do and you just have to give in. Where is my freedom of choice then?

MINAS

Thank so much waterlily!

Thank you for "Leo asked Roberta to swear on Mauricio's memory that she didn't try to kill him". The lie from Roberta was implausible, wasn't it??

I also appreciate your noting Joaquina tried to dissuede Leo from marrying Sara. I thought she might be trying to discourage him but I just couldn't understand enough...

Leo is becoming almost unwatchable! As you noted, "He can talk all day long about how E was the love of his life, but in his case it's just empty words". EXACTLY!!

"Others are talking about snapping Paula out of it, I'm getting to where I'd like to slap her out of it! She's being insufferable, especially to Eva!" Darcy, that was pefect - I laughed out loud!!

On a more serious note, I thought it rather ironic that Paula forgave her dead mother for supposedly not loving her, but could not forgive Eva, even going so far as to blame her for her parents' deaths. Hopefully, Paula has an epiphany and comes out of her morose fog quickly.

I am on the road. Love the comments. Paula needs to talk to Ignacio and get the name of his therapist. He credited her with getting him to think about things in a different way. She can’t go on crying 24/7. What will snap her put of it or who will “slap” her out of it? LOL. Good one Darcy!

Gotta go!

ETERNAMENTE AMANDONOS 1 # 115

Notes from the couch . . .

Page 1

1. Rogelio asks Paula to explain what is upsetting her. She explains that she recently found out that her parents didn't want her and fought about the restaurant because of her. Rogelio apologizes telling her that he had no idea. If she has said something earlier this never would have happened. She explains that she is barely able to assimilate the information she just found out herself. That is why she didn't tell him. Remembering has made her feel that her mother didn't love her. She asks him not to pressure her because she is trying to put the puzzle together herself. Rogelio only wants to be near her. She says if he wants to be near her, he should not pressure her. He is sorry that what is a new start for him is causing her such pain. She is aggravated that he never told what was going on with the restaurant. Decisions should be made together. She doesn't feel comfortable and leaves. Rogelio follows her.

2. Back at home, Paula doesn't want to talk Rogelio is disappointed that what he had planned for Paula didn't come out like he wanted it to. He knows how she feels but has no idea of how to help her. He suggests that she find professional help since she is going through such complicated problems. She understands his concern but all she needs is time to assimilate everything. He nods.

3. Ignacio wakes up from a dream abut Romina. Cass is hoping since they are married that the adoption process goes more quickly. He gets a phone call from Cecilia that the baby is sick with a fever. She has called the doctor and is waiting for his call. She tells Ignacio he doesn't have to come over but he does anyway.

3. Paula wants Rogelio to be honest and admit that he didn't get the restaurant for her and that is okay. He starts to defend his position and she cuts him off. She has heard that all before but he hasn't heard what she has been saying. She needs his trust, support and space but he has not given her that because he has only been thinking about himself and his doubts. Rogelio has had it and asks if she realizes how she is alienating everyone who loves her the most. That would be Eva, Cecilia, and him. She answers that he has no idea what happened with Eva. He agrees because she never told him. He wants her to tell him. He is all ears. She gets upset saying that she isn't ready. She tells him not to pressure her. She decides to go to sleep. He finds that an easy way to get out of talking.

5. Ignacio comes over and stays up with Camilo all night so Ceciia can sleep because she isn't feeling well either. He is happy theo-out.

6. Fernando tells Imelda she could always come back to work at the company. She would rather start her own business. He doesn't think that is a good idea with the investment of money and time. She disagrees. He sees her response and tells her he trusts her to go ahead and do what she wants. He is only asking that she not ignore the kids and he will step up as a father. He wants her to have her dream. She can count on him she needs money. She thanks him but tells him thatches time she wants to do it all on her own. They kiss.

ETERNAMENTE

7.Rubén tells Imelda that it is commendable that she wants to start a business but he can help her. She says she really wants to do it on her own. He suggests if she doesn't want the house he wanted to give her, he would like to help her out with the business before her mother leaves them destitute. She asks what is going on. He tells her about her mother and the money she has been spending and trying to spend on her foundation in her obsession with Martina. He promises not to leave her mother out on the street but their marriage is over. He hasn't told her mother yet but his mind is made up. Imelda tells him tithing about it.

8. Rogelio is working at the restaurant talking with Pedro. Pedro asks how things are going with Paula. Rogelio says this morning they were barely talking. Pedro ask what is going on. Rogelio admits he unintentionally hurt Paula. She told him that the memories of her parents' business weren't good ones.He wishes he would have know that before he named his restaurant what he did. Pedro has advice. Rogelio should have a lot, a lot of patience and not to pressure her. Rogelio doesn't know how this will all turn out. He is afraid that Paula will fall out of love with him. Pedro assures him that although he is in Mexico City, he is always there for him. Rogelio is grateful.

9. Blanca asks Paula how hard is it to be a mother. She says it is had but she is sure Blanca will be a very good mother. As they chat, Paula finds out how much she has missed lately. She had no idea that Blanca had been fired because other pregnancy and the lawsuit. Paula apologizes for not being there when she could have needed her. Blanca is interested in talking later. She asks if Paula is gong to the music school. Paula says no because she does;t want to talk to Cecilia. Paula remembers what Rogelio said about alienating those who love her most. She changes her mind. yes, she is gong to go and talk to Cecilia. She doesn't want to be distanced from the people who love her. Blanca smiles.

10.. Martina wants to talk to Paula. She asks her what is gong on with her. Martina is worried about her. She sees she is not doing well and is very distanced from Rogelio Paula confesses that she discovered that her life is not what she thought it was. It was an illusion that she invented. Her mother didn't want her. Martina is the closest thing to a mother she has ever had. Martina grabs her hands and says she has seen her as a daughter and that is why she wants to see her happy. Paula starts to cry. Martina tells her that you need your partner the most when you confront them. Pain wants to isolate you. Life is very ironic. Martina recognizes that Paula feels like her life has been a lie while she feels like her life is escaping her before her very eyes and she cannot do a thing about . What they do have is the present, this very instant. Paula says it hurts to not feel loved. Martin understands her pain but tells her nothing is to be gained by looking back when everything that is most valuable is in front of her. Martina calls her marvelous s daughter who has a family that loves her, a husband who adores her. . . . Suddenly, Martina changes. She thinks that Paula is her mother. Paula plays the part and gently takes her up to bed.

11. Luis proposes to Andrea again and she accepts again. He suggests a simple church wedding. She is agreeable to that.

12. Felipa finds out that the twins are a boy and a girl but she refuses to tell Melitón right away. .

13. Cecilia thanks Ignacio for staying and taking care of the baby. The baby is now fever free. Before he leaves, he lets her know that he and Cass got married earlier than they planned because they are going to adopt a child.

14. Ricardo stops by sorry that he couldn't help out with Camilo but he had to stay with Regina. He asks Cecilia to live with him. Ignacio emerges from the washroom. He is heading home to get dressed for work. Cecilia is acting weird so Ricardo asks what is going on. She explains that Ignacio and Cass got married but they plan on adopting and she is afraid that Camilo will lose his father. Ricardo cannot see that happening with Ignacio. He adds that everyone has the right to recreate their lives as they choose to make themselves happy. She has that same right. He asks her f she wants solve together. She is very happy with him but she feels it is too soon.

15. Paula puts Martina to bed. She texts Cecilia she is going to come by the school to talk to her. Cecilia agrees to see her. She kisses Martina on her forehead and leaves. She makes sure that Micaela knows that Martina is in bed so that she can keep an eye on her. Shetells Micaela tha she looks luminous.

16. Ignacio promises Cecilia that he is going to be the best version of himself with his children. Camilo will never want for anything. Ceciiia wants Ignacio to be happy but she doesn't want Camilo to be missing a father. Ignacio is excited that they are planning on adopting a little girl called Romina but he makes it clear that she can be assured that he will always be there for Camilo.

17. Rubén is angry because he cannot find his watch. Beatriz blames the maid and wants to fire her. Rubén says no way. The maid didn't steal it. He talks to the maid on these side and asks her to make a list of everyone who has been at the house lately.

18. Gabriel calls Honorio to bring Martina to a restaurant and to tell her that he will meet her there.

19. Paula arrives to talk with Cecilia. Cecilia says she had no right to tell her about Eva's past. She had no idea about her parents. Paula apologizes for reacting like she did. Cecilia smiles and says "apologize for what?" She adds that Paula is going to have to talk to Eva. Paula knows she will. They agree to change the subject. Cecilia tells her about Ricardo asking her to live with him and about Ignacio getting married and he and Cass wanting to adopt. Paula tells Cecilia about Rogelio and his new restaurant that he named with the same name as her parents' restaurant. She was upset that he never mentioned anything about the restaurant or the name either. Cecilia asks if she is not being a bit unfair. Did she ever tell him about Eva? Paula has to admit she didn't. Cecilia has to ask what did she expect then? Cecilia says that the one she hasn't communicating is Eva and if she wants to fix things she is going to have to g with her heart in her hand and talk to Rogelio. Paula says she only wanted space but Cecilia is right.

20.. On the way to the restaurant, Honorio leaves Martina in the SUV as he runs into the drugstore to pick up some pills. As soon as he leaves, Martina emerges from the SUV. She starts to wander down the street looking fan calling out for her father. honor comes back and finds Martina is gone. He calls Gabriel that Martina is missing.

21. Marco tells Fernando that it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a daycare center at the company. Fernando says that Imelda suggested that, too. It is a done deal!

22. Paula talks to Rogelio at the school. She apologizes for not being clear with him. He starts to respond saying he felt she was a bit unfair when she asks him to just listen. She explains why she is angry with Eva. Eva was with her parents when they had their accident. Her parents died because of her. Eva was running away from some guys who were pursuing her and her parents were protecting her. Rogelio is sorry.

23. Paula's phone rings. Martina is missing. Fernando, Marco and Ignacio get the call to come to downtown Morelia to help find Martina.

ETERNAMENTE

Page 4

24. Martina wanders up and down the streets of Morelia shouting out for her father. A vendor who knows her give her a balloon as she passes by. He tries to get her to stay with him but she insists on continuing her search.

25. Paula says that she should have stayed with Martina since Martina was very restless until she fell asleep. Rogelio asks why she didn't call him that Martina wasn't doing well. Paula says that she asked Micaela to look after her. Paula adds it is not time for the blame game. Paula thinks Martina had this crisis because she was worried about them. Rogelio says they will have to make sure that they behave in front of her like nothing has happened considering they clearly are not at their best moment as a couple. Paula agrees.

26. Martina is sitting on her parents' grave stone. Her balloon goes flying away. A caretaker sees her and calls Rogelio. He and Paula go to her. The caretaker tells them that Martina is not feeling well. She thinks that Rogelio is her father. It takes Gabriel loudly calling out her name to get her her back to reality. He asks if she is well. She looks around in horror and tells him that she doesn't remember anything. Rogelio tells her everything is fine and not to worry. She now recognizes Rogelio.

27. At the Villa, Fernando is talking to Marco, Imelda and Blanca. The time has come to talk about the care and safety of their mother. What to do? Imelda knows that Martina will not want a stranger in the house. She thinks each of them should take a day to stay with her. Oblivious to Martina being lost, Luisa and Luis arrive and tell everyone they are together again.

28. Martina arrives home on the arm of Gabriel with Rogelio and Paula. Rogelio wants a doctor to check her out. She refuses. She wants them to let her do what she wants while she still can.

29. Gabriel wants her to go for a second opinion. it can't hurt. She does't know how many instances of lucidity she has left . She doesn't want to waste them with a doctor. He asks her to just think about it. She promises that she will. She wants to talk to Paula.

30. After refusing to tell Melitón the sex of the twins all day long, Felipa finally tells him.

30. Martina tells Paula that she never thought that she would lose herself so quickly. Her illness is advancing silently without being able to be stopped. She can't control when she is lucid nor does she know how much more time of lucidity she has. From now on , she wants to live each moment to the limit. She wants to be the Martina she never dared to be. Paula is impressed by her strength. Before her mind abandons her, she wants to tell Paula to fight for her marriage and to not let the past affect her present. When everything is forgotten, nothing matters. She is going with Gabriel to another doctor in Mexico City to please him. She needs Paula to take care of everything. Paula tells her not to worry, she will along with everyone else. Martina makes it clear that she wants Paula to be the one to take care of the family. She first saw Paula as a rival when she arrived at the Villa because she was a self-assured woman who knew what she was doing. It took her a long time to realize it but Paula is her little girl, the daughter she never had. Paula represents what she always wanted to be herself. Paula says she never had any intention of taking Martina's place. She only wanted a mother, and a family . Martina knows when she is no longer around, Paula will be the only one who will be able to keep everyone united, together no matter what it takes. She is capable of seeing their hearts. She never should fear taking control. She tells her to never forget that she loves her. She will be the next Monarca.

That is all for me tonight. Please add anything I left out.

ETERNAMENTE

Who knows what the last five episodes will bring. Things just keep popping.

Best scene: last scene between Martina and Paula. That was a heartbreaker.

Most grotesque scene: Martina waddling along with her balloon looking for her father.

More mañana.

Jarifa,

Tonight, there was great pain amidst much love. Jarifa, you captured every thought, word and deed exquisitely. Just extraordinary.

“Martina tells Paula that she never thought that she would lose herself so quickly. Her illness is advancing silently without being able to be stopped. She can't control when she is lucid nor does she know how much more time of lucidity she has. From now on, she wants to live each moment to the limit” had me in tears.

Paula and Rogelio are experiencing a turbulent, tumultuous time in their lives. Sometimes, the answer is found in solitude and quiet reflection. Not every situation is resolved by trying to talk things out. Time, patience and understanding need to be freely offered to allow a loved one to find their way back.

“Martina tells Paula that she never thought that she would lose herself so quickly. Her illness is advancing silently without being able to be stopped. She can't control when she is lucid nor does she know how much more time of lucidity she has”. I can’t imagine knowing you are losing yourself, your essence, your thoughts, your memory. Your identity. An unfathomable cruelty.

Watching Fernando and Imelda snuggling in bed after Rogelio and Paula continue to argue made me wonder if I’d awoken from a bad dream.

Luis and Andrea at this late date aren’t endearing although I wish them well.

A girl and a boy for Felipa and Meliton! A few moments of joy, an oasis in a sea of sadness.

Tonight was all about Martina, passing the mantle of responsibility to Paula, her daughter of the heart.

Dear Diana, a huge THANK YOU for your recap and your kind words. I always love reading your recaps, you manage to catch the emotions of the characters perfectly, something that I'm struggling to do. ¡Mil gracias!

Waterlily, thanks you SO much for adding additional dialogue. I honestly think you should start recapping, you'd do it so well!

As for Friday's recap, it will be up either today or tomorrow. I'll try to finish it today though :)

That conversation between Rog and Paula was like some weird tennis match. He says she is alianating people, but then admits he doesn't know what's happened with Eva. He isn't wrong, but why say something and then admit you actually don't have all the info? He is affraid Paula will fall out of love. Is this really his only concern? Paula's issues have nothing to do with him and she told him this already. Can he please start thinking about someone that isn't himself? Even when Paula came to talk, he still started saying how he felt she was being unfair. Rogelio really hasn't learnt what 'listen to what I have to say' means. Pedro told him the same thing Paula did. I doubt he was listening because he didn't acknowledge it. And he made a choice to give this specific name to the restaurant and is now upset it turned out the way it did. Who asked him to do this? He is upset Paula didn't tell him everything but he still went ahead and did what he thought was fine when he knew something was up. I struggle to sympathise with him the way Ceci did.
Martina's 'don't be afraid to take control' advice is frightening because both Paula and Martina interfer way too much in things that are none of their business. I know Martina is the monarca and so on. But it's her need to control that brought Rogelio so much pain at one point. I didn't like how she treated her family members so I'm not impressedby the 'passing on my duties' scene as Paula can be just as irritating as Martina. At least Paula isn't a mean person whereas Martina could be pretty awful even when doing a good thing.

Minas
Weirdo, you are being way too nice about my recaping abilities!
Friday's episode really could be named 'everyone is leaving'.
I bet Sara is going to be not especially nice to Nico because she won't be able to avoid it. Nico goes from saying Roberta is the only one who loves him to saying he wants to live with Leo. What made him change his mind?
Orlando seems to have woken up a bit. I'm not very hopeful, though.
When Aleida was encouraging E to eat, I nearly expected her to say, with every spoon, 'this one for Nico...this one for tigre...for Zaira.'
Sara is apparently surprised she is miserable. She even told Roberta she could have told Leo 'to behave himself'. What the hell is she thinking? It's like she thinks Roberta should be interested in being a saviour of her marriage or something. I remember watching another telenovela where a much younger girl was unhappy a guy she blackmailed into marrying her wasn't trying to be what a husband should be according to her. She was way younger, though. I remember being amused by her complaints. Sebas told Sara she can't build her happiness on the ruins of other people's happiness.
So is Seb really going away with Miriam. The guy really deserves better. I think what makes it worse for me is that with E he had a friendship that lasted for years. These two really don't have this strong bond. I suppose they can bond over unrequited love, but that doesn't sound like a very nice idea. Besides, Addled is an ass and it was Miriam's own naivete that got her into this mess. She also lacks integrity whereas sebas is painfully honest with himself and others.
Jenifer is upset because her dear sis is sad. But why can't she admit her sis is stupid and hersadness is entirely of her own making? Maybe because she is no better herself.
Will there be any useful people left in that town after everyone leaves? The rest are either greedy fools, just plain stupid or corrupt. I hope Sebas gets to be the town's mayor in the end.
I can't remember who won our stupidity medal. But both Sara and Leo are in desperate need of another one.

MINAS

Weirdo, I am really looking forward to your sure to be marvelous recap whenever you have time to work on it :)

waterlily, I totally agree with Weirdo that you would be an awesome recapper. Loved "When Aleida was encouraging E to eat, I nearly expected her to say, with every spoon, 'this one for Nico...this one for tigre...for Zaira.'" You captured that scene exactly right.

"Sebas told Sara she can't build her happiness on the ruins of other people's happiness" were wise words.

Thank you Jarifa! Your notes once again capture the whole tone of the episode. Which was kind of hard to watch, but your recap was a treat to read.

I don't know what else I can say about the Paula storyline that hasn't been said all week. I'm looking forward to and hoping for a different focus next week.

Gabriel's insistence on a second opinion has me wondering if Martina could be misdiagnosed? There are certain aliments that could cause confusion on and off, such as a tumor.... probably not, but it just stood out to me as odd that they are talking about a second opinion at this late date.

Minas

Waterlily , thank you so much. I wasn't able to watch the Friday episode. I cent wait go find out what happened.

Poor is everybody's punching bag. He deserves someone better than conniving Miriam.

Did Sara absorb any of Seb's truer than true words? No. She has roped and tied whipped dog Leo .

Does Leo crave Mommy's love so
Desperately that he refuses to see her as she really is...bad to the bone?

Jarifa, wow, you have been our champion taking this show on solo. I am so grateful.

When are the family members and servants going to finally realize that they cannot leave Martina alone for one minute ??? They have had enough scares, close calls, and near tragedies to realize that.I think the writers have been sending out a strong PSA.

Igy is improving , but I still think he is moving way too fast marrying again so that he can adopt after just welcoming a newborn son.Slow down hombre. Susan

Gracias, Jarifa. Your recap is brilliant, capturing each sad and shining moment.

Martina's mind slipping and Paula's anger - little to cheer these days. I have nothing but questions. My biggest one is how this TN will end on an upbeat note, with Martina diminished.

So Imelda wants to start a business all on her own? Hmmm, let's see how the financing goes.

Did Paula even finish reading her mom's diary? Seems to me she stopped at the point when her mom learned she was pregnant and worried about it.

Paula and Rogelio's couple arguments are sounding too real, with each talking to himself and not the other. Kudos to the actors. Like in real life, I wanted to back out of the room and pretend I didn't hear them.

Looking forward to Paula pulling herself together. She's got a right to feel down, but turning off everyone is not her.

Eternamente #115

Great work, Jarifa. You captured all the essences of this episode.

Martina passing the scepter to Paula was an important moment. Both of them are buttinskies in their ways but Paula has no mean intent in her actions. Martina likely envied her big time for the opportunities she had in life and to have control over her own life, perhaps especially to marry for love. Martina should be proud that a woman like Paula chose Rogelio who despite his faults is a good man. Paula needs to face the fact that any lack of love felt by her own parents was not her fault and should feel fortunate to have won the love and respect of a suegra like Martina had been.

Watching Martina getting out of the car and getting lost reminded me of something my mother told me about maybe 20+ years ago. Her last boyfriend had to put his mother in a nursing home because of Alzheimer's. She got out somehow and went missing for ten days. She was found in her childhood neighborhood looking for her parents. She did not recognize her son when she saw him next. The cemetery scene was heartbreaking. I hope the actors took nice vacations after they wrapped this series up.

ETERNAMENTE

Diana, thanks. "Tonight was all about Martina, passing the mantle of responsibility to Paula, her daughter of the heart." It was a surprise to me that they ended up as close as they did but this novela never fails in surprising me.

waterlily, I agree that most of these characters' actions make no sense at all.

Darcy, Thanks. " I'm looking forward to and hoping for a different focus next week. " Me, too. There are so many storylines that need to be finished and in only five episodes. Yikes!!

Susan?, thanks. "When are the family members and servants going to finally realize that they cannot leave Martina alone for one minute ??? They have had enough scares, close calls, and near tragedies to realize that.I think the writers have been sending out a strong PSA." Well said. It seems that there is some lack of understanding with Martina's condition by the family or a reluctance to accept the reality of the situation. Not good.

NIecie, thanks. "Paula and Rogelio's couple arguments are sounding too real, with each talking to himself and not the other. Kudos to the actors. Like in real life, I wanted to back out of the room and pretend I didn't hear them." You can say that again and I will say no more! : )

Urban, thanks. I agree with everything you said about Martina and Paula. I hope the actors treated themselves to some "nice vacations". They sure deserved it up now and who knows what the last week will bring.

Minas de Pasión - Capítulo 46, Viernes, 3 de Noviembre, 2023

Reborn from the ashes, the ashes caused by the fire of the past - Part 1/2

Emi's surgery begins, so does Leo's marriage with Sara.

Emi thinks that they're going to pay for what they did to her before she loses consciousness.

Rob approaches the priest and tells him to do the marriage quickly. I guess she's scared Leo will change his mind or something.

Míriam and Seb FF-->

Emi's surgery isn't going so well. Her heartbeat rate drops. The doctors are trying to save her from death.

The doctor tells Aleida and Dan that it's not looking good. Let's just remind ourselves that the writers chose to make Leo marry Emi's enemy while she's fighting for her life. What a galán move!

Leo is walking down the aisle with Sara, who I have to admit is looking beautiful in that dress. The priest skips everything to the part where he asks the crowd if there's anyone who disagrees with the wedding. As expected, no one talks.

Emi is going from bad to worse. The doctor tells her to fight, she can do it.

The priest asks Sara if she accepts Leonardo Santamaría as her husband. She does. He then asks Leo if he accepts Sara Quintana. He doesn't respond for a LONG while. Sara gives him a death stare, but he's not even looking at her. The priest asks him again and he says "I do", half-heartedly. The priest names them husband and wife. Nico runs away as Leo and Sara kiss. Gigí, who I'll start calling Berta again because of her latest actions, looks happy in the background. In fact, only she and Adalberto (who mentioned to Fidel something about not losing (?) presidency) look happy in the whole reception.

Emi's heart beats go back to normal. Finally!

Leo, Sara and their families take pictures. Afterwards, Leo goes to talk to Nico, who has locked himself in a room. Leo says his love for him won't change just because he's married now. Nico doesn't seem to believe that.

Zaira sees some pictures of Leo and Sara's wedding. Gael sees her upset and Zaira shows him the pictures. Marijó calls him, he doesn't accept the call. Zaira tells him to answer it, he does, but he's mean to Marijó like going off to Ireland or wherever Rob sent her was her fault. Ugh.

Sara is whining to Roberta about Leo not being here with her in their freakin' wedding! Roberta says her son is Sara's husband now and leaves her to deal with it. Berta comes to console Sara, who says she thought she was going to be happy if she married one day and she's not now, by some "think of the baby" talk.

Adalberto celebrates his reconciliation with Berta by telling Fidel he'll upload pictures of them with the title "we're stronger united" to show he's a man of family. Where's the laughing sitcom crowd when you need it? He goes on and on about his future political career. While Fidel is looking like he's thinking of escape routes, Orlando comes and asks Adalberto to sign some papers; he quits, he doesn't want to be involved in their shady business stuff anymore; a bit late for that, bud, no?

Some lawyers arrive in the mines (on Rob's behalf, I'm sure) to kick Tigre out and it's legal, too! Tigre rips the papers. Seb and all the miners take Tigre's side. There are some police officers who are armed, but Tigre's gang have some weapons too.

Jenny (who's also looking beautiful in that dress) is whining to Orlando that they can't be together. A bit weird, considering her obsession with Mau. Orlando informs her he quit. Jenny hugs him.

Did I mention Rob told Sara she wants Leo to leave at some point? Well Nico now wants to go live with Leo... Okay... Why such a sudden change?

Minas de Pasión - Capítulo 46, Viernes, 3 de Noviembre, 2023

Reborn from the ashes, the ashes caused by the fire of the past - Part 2/2

Aleida somehow has pictures of the wedding, which she shows Emi. Dan sees them and says Sara looks really beautiful. Aleida asks him if he knows her, he starts mumbling something I didn't catch and doesn't get more questions from Emi and Aleida. Emi cries about Nico. I'll honestly FF--> that because I don't think there was anything THAT important in the convo. Aleida says something like "you'll return when they least expect you".

Leo says he won't let Nico down as a father. Sara is upset because Leo didn't even ask her. I have to say, Leo, I hate you for making me agree with Sara on anything. Leo asks Roberta to let them adopt Nico. Roberta, weirdly enough, agrees. That hyena has a plan.

Things are looking better for Jenny and Orlando. She says she's very happy he quit, but she's worried about him. She'd die if anything happened to him. Jenny and Orlando, as unlikable as they are, are weirdly the only couple I like in this show so far.

The police have taken Tigre to the station. An angry Ezequiel even attempts to hit Tigre with his gun, but is thankfully stopped by Zaira, who does anything in her power to get them to release Tigre. That malagradecido gets pissed when she says she'll call Leo because he's the only one who can help.

Leo and Nico are packing their bags when his phone rings. He picks it up and says he'll come to the precinct. Nico wants to come too, but obviously Leo doesn't let him.

Roberta is whining to Fidel for not being able to manipulate his son. Addled is also there. There was a conversation, the exact words of which I didn't catch, but that was the main point. I think Fidel mentioned Aleida and him needing some more time (to manipulate Orlando?).

Leo tries to help Tigre. The problem is that Roberta told the cops to remove Tigre's ownership of the mine. I don't know if that makes any sense but I'm too tired to figure out how to say it correctly. Ezequiel tells Leo he's just following orders.

The problem wasn't resolved, but Tigre is at home now (huh?) with Zaira and Gael. He's whining to ZAIRA about her calling Leo. She FINALLY snaps and tells him she's been running around trying to get him out of trouble. Tigre whines he's completely useless now. Zaira and Gael leave. Tigre cries.

Aleida tries to convince Emi to eat, for her son.

At night, Zaira and Gael return. Stupid Tigre has left a note saying he's leaving because he doesn't want to be a problem for them. I think he leaves them something in a small bag (gold from the mines?) Zaira cries and says they want him here with them.

Míriam wants to leave town with Seb. Seb looks like he considers it.

Fidel tells Rob he will inherit Aleida's uncle's fortune now that she's dead. Leo overhears and asks Fidel when his wife died or something similar. Fidel says she died a few months ago, but if you love someone that much you feel as if it yesterday I think and then says "something I don't see you doing for Emilia". OOOOH, ROASTED! Come on, now. Even a VILLAIN can see that Leo's moves aren't galán moves.

Emi, Dan and Al are in the airport. Dan hands them new IDs. From now on they'll be different people.

After Fidel leaves, Leo mumbles something about Emilia and Ignacio's wishes and Rob says they're dead and she's here to free him of these wishes. She explains that she'll give Leo Nico's custody only if he gives her ownership of the mine and leaves with Sara and Nico for the capital!!!

And with Leo's "I knew you'd ask for something in return" look, we have the Fin del Capítulo.

MINAS

This was marvelous Weirdo!

I loved “Reborn from the ashes, the ashes caused by the fire of the past” which could not have been more fitting. Simply perfect!

“Emi's surgery begins, so does Leo's marriage with Sara”. Deep in her subconscious, and her soul, Emilia sensed she was losing the love of her life. I believe she was purposely pulling away from her unbearable pain. I sense it was Nico who brought her back to the land of the living.

It is slim pickings, but yes, I too am rooting for Orlando and Jenny. So Orlando is talking the talk about not being manipulated by Fidel, but will he walk the walk? Jenny has a lot of growing up to do. That said, I do hope they make it.

“Dan sees them and says Sara looks really beautiful. Aleida asks him if he knows her, he starts mumbling something…” I didn’t understand that conversation from that point on either Weirdo, but Dan’s face showed he clearly is still smitten. If Sara were not carrying his child, this likely would have been it but, she is so it is not yet the end.
I can’t abide watching either Fidel or Roberta. “That hyena has a plan. She explains that she'll give Leo Nico's custody only if he gives her ownership of the mine and leaves with Sara and Nico for the capital!!!” Surely Leo isn’t entirely devoid of brain power; did he really think she would let him waltz out of her life with Nico with nothing in return??

And Tigre!! He had a terrible break but life is full of trials. Instead of being strong for Zaira and Gael, he drowns in self-pity and decides to wander off so he won’t be a burden. They didn’t have enough to worry about but now have to track him down and beg him to return. He is utterly selfish.

I was sorry Gael has seemingly abandoned Marijo. As you noted, none of this is her fault!!

I really hope Sebas doesn’t take off with Miriam. He deserves SO much better.

Looks like we get Emilia’s big reveal on Monday!

Diana

MINAS RECAPPING

This week, I will do a tinycap for Monday. I have a meeting Tuesday early evening but will plan on doing one Tuesday as well. I may be able to do Wednesday as well....

Diana

Minas #46

Sorry to be so late; I only got to this episode last night.

If the intent of the plastic surgery is for all three to appear again, shouldn't there be three different actors taking over these roles?

We are almost at the hump, so something has to give ASAP.

Here's hoping that Leo has the sense to not surrender Nico's inheritance with or without having adopted him. Roberta wants to destroy him because he is not the son she wanted.

MINAS

Urban, I've been wondering about the plastic surgery, especially Emilia's character. How different are they going to be able to have her look?? Her face was scared but not disfigured.

Aleida will be easy to do, get rid of the fright wig and makeup and better clothes will transform her to her real life, lovely self.

As for Dan, a haircut will help but certainly not disguise him.

Diana

Minas #46

Dan will probably go back to the Clark Kent look that this actor usually has. Maybe even to wearing a suit.

Alieda might dye her hair some other color.

I hope Emilia doesn't. Livia Brito is beautiful but light hair would not suit her.
