Mundo de Fieras - Friday, 10/13/06

Jos has just found her mother in her office and was telling Miriam it was strange that she had her cell off and couldn’t be located. Miriam is very uncomfortable after having gotten a little bit of “afternoon delight” with Demian and swears to her daughter that she would never hide a thing from Jos. Jos just keeps on looking her in the eyes and doesn’t believe a word.

Demian, for his part, is coming back from his bit of nookie with Miriam and should be feeling more generous of spirit, but when the supposed nun calls out to him he says don’t look for any donations from him. "We don’t give alms to the poor here." The nun asks, “Don’t you remember me, Demian?” He stops and stares and is surprised to see Dolores in a habit and out of prison. “Yeah, ok. Dolores. I’ve come back to recover my son and to find out who killed Edgar.”

Gabe finally sees Mariangela crossing the street in town somewhere and asks her what she’s doing. She tells him she’s been looking for work and doesn’t feel comfortable returning to the mansion to work for him, so not to make it any more difficult than it is now that Luisito and Don C found her and begged her to think about coming back there. Gabe begs her too. He needs her. HE needs her, too. (Puh-leese! Have some dignity. She must be Paulina’s age or less! Can we say ‘mid-life crisis’ here?)

Demian starts laughing and smirks, “So where’s the costume party?” (Great line, and a great delivery from Cesar, as always.) Dolores refuses to be intimidated (that habit is working its magic on her) and says she isn’t going to give him any explanations. Delores says, "I want to see my son, Tiberio. I want to see our son." Demian refuses, saying since he thinks his mother is dead, and since Delores is an ex-con, a murderess and such, it just wouldn’t be suitable. Delores spits back that it is all a lie and she will prove it.

Gabe is still trying to beg Mariangela to come back to the mansion for his sake and she says, no. What happened between them is impossible to let go further since he’s a married man. Eventually she gets tired of this sing-song and runs off embarrassed and frustrated.

Back in his office, Demian is lost in thought over Delores’ return. He knows she means trouble and wonders if she’s really taken the vows of a nun. He figures it will be very amusing her proving that!

Delores returns to the nuns’ chapel and, with wonderful strains of (I believe) Albinoni’s Adagio in G Minor in the background, prays that the Lord will illuminate the way to her son’s heart.

Mariangela returns to Leo and Candy’s house when perky Teresa returns and reminds her that she’s nothing more than a mooch.

Gabe returns home and Jos glides over and offers lunch in a most (irritatingly) cloyingly sultry voice. He ignores her and runs upstairs to Luisito’s room. The two talk about how they all failed to get her to come back. (This boy cries, I swear, anytime anybody says a word to him.) When Jos comes in and asks what the great tragedy is, Gabe tells her their son is upset that Mariangela won’t come back. Lui says he loved her from the moment he met her and that she and he got along so well. He bawls and screams, “Why did you have to run her off, Mommy?”

Mariangela sits in the small living room at Candy’s and remembers her mother’s words to return to the care of Don Clemente at the mansion house. She cries as she remembers Little Lui’s visit with Don C, begging her to come back with them. She prays for direction and cries over her mother’s sickness.

At the Alzheimer’s hospice Don Clemente is visiting with Aurora and again she’s in a state in which she doesn’t recognize him except as the man telling her the most beautiful love story she’s ever heard. He continues his love story that is really their history and we find out how the two fell in love back in the day.

Pedro is still typing very late into the evening in his huge bedroom suite when Diana walks in and starts chatting with him. He tells her he’s finishing and besides, his hands are hurting. So she picks up his hand and looks as if she’s going to massage it when her husband, Rogelio walks in on the two of them. Rogelio accuses them of having a lover’s tryst behind his back and threatens the two of them not to try anything further because it is so obvious to him that Pedro is in love with Diana. He leaves and Pedro, embarrassed for the two of them, tells Diana not to worry about this since Rogelio is only boasting in front of him and wouldn’t do anything.

Delores is praying still at the chapel and the Mother Superior comes in. Delores asks her for guidance and says she’s resigned to living a life of pain, but she doesn’t want her son to suffer because of her. (Of course, if she only knew what a worthless creepy jerk he’s become thanks to his real father, Demian.......)

Speaking of Tiberio, he’s literally wining and dining Belan, Simona’s daughter, at lunch. The animal is eagerly waiting to see her get tipsy and lose control of her good judgement. In fact, Belan warns him she’s not used to drinking alcohol, but he insists. Belan tries to please her new boss. Unfortunately, for him, she passes out there at the table before they get to order and he’s forced to take her home to her momma. He lies and says it must have been something she ate. (I’m thinking, just smell the alcohol on her, Simona!)

Diana enters her bedroom suite and finds her husband making a date with another one of his “entries” in his still current, little black book. Disgusted, she walks out and sits down on the living room couch when Gabe walks in and sees her staring woefully at a photograph of Rogelio. She apologizes for being the cause of such a scandal, but Gabe tells her he knows someone warned the media just to kick up such a fuss and that was not her fault. He asks if she’s still in love with his son. Diana says yes, but with the way he despises her so she’s uncertain of things. Gabe assures her that if she wants to divorce Rogelio some day he’ll back her and make sure she is taken care of. She says not to worry, she doesn’t have the courage to leave and Rogelio would prevent it in any event. (This is definitely another woman who needs to get her priorities straight! Take the money, honey, and RUN!)

At the cabstand, the guys are listening to Mayeya’s story about the couple she had as a fare, and how she beat the boy up with her shoe when he told his girlfriend that she could only prove her love for him by letting him take her to bed. Leo and the guys told Mayeya they couldn’t believe her attitude, but Leo says she did the right thing by chasing him off and refusing to take the couple to the hotel. “Those men are not men, only cowards!”

Ingrid and Miriam are returning home and they pass Rogelio as he is leaving. Ingrid stops Rogelio and rubs herself all over him like a purring cat begging to be petted (in more ways than one). “Wow, what a scent!” Miriam just ignores it all and continues reading her mail. He looks disgustedly at Ingrid and walks out the door. Miriam keeps on reading her mail while telling Ingrid not to have any illusions about Rogelio, that he’s too particular a man to ever be interested in the likes of her. "So, don't even think about it!" She walks off towards her office with Ingrid frowning and stomping angrily, following behind. (Perfect deadpan delivery in this scene from Helena Rojo!)

Leo and Candy are dreaming of his graduation day. Leo is also wondering about his real mother and why she abandoned him.

Miriam calls Karen in Barcelona to see if she’s finished the job she was sent to do. Karen says not yet, but tells her Paulina is on the way back to Mexico and she’ll learn all about it when she arrives. She tells her that Paulina fell in love with Demian’s son, Juan C. This makes Miriam hang up and remember making love with Demian earlier. She confesses to herself that Demian is the only man who’s ever made her feel that way (gets her blood boiling) in bed. If they’d not been so ambitious their lives would have turned out differently (and perhaps they’d be a permanent item?).

Joselyn tries to seduce her husband again, but he’s not in the least bit interested. Pedro saves him by running in yelling excitedly that Paulina has come home from Spain. Gabe races out leaving Jos angrily sulking and frustrated once again.

Downstairs Paulina and Gabe hug and he wants to know why she and her boyfriend broke up. She finally tells him that she and Damian’s son, Juan Cristobal, found out they were first cousins and she is going to try to put him out of her mind and start over. Gabe could tell her the truth, that she’s an adopted daughter but thinks it might cause her too much grief. (Selfishness on his part is more like it.) So Gabe later calls his lawyer, Nicolas, for advice. Nic, of course, suggests he just ignore the truth and suggests Paulina just probably has a simple, passing crush on the kid. Gabe agrees.

In the meantime, Karen pays a visit to Juan C who is thinking about his "Paulina problem". Juan opens the door and in walks Karen. First thing she does is try to play the vamp and drops her dress and tells Juan she’s there to help him forget Paulina. Juan C. looks a bit tempted, but in the end tells her that he’s not going to dirty her memory so quickly. He tells her to “cover up” and get out. She leaves in a pout.

Demian arrives home and finds Regina sitting in her dressing gown in front of her mirror. He tries to seduce her again but Regina begs and pleads for him to leave her alone. She cannot take him near her any more and tells him not to touch her ever again. He answers back that she is his wife and must fulfill her obligation. It can be willingly or forcibly, but she belongs to him. He begins to paw at her again but she breaks away screaming that he’s raped her from the first night they were married. She asks him why he had to and he says he enjoys it that way. They fight at the top of the huge staircase where he accuses her of rather having Gabe in her bed (who wouldn’t?) and she screams to let go of her, twists away, and falls all the way to the bottom, unconscious.

Demian is shocked to see her possibly lying dead at the bottom of the stairs and limps down the staircase pleading for her not to die. He admits how he really loves and idolizes her, but cannot stand how she despises him. This he then blames all on his brother who will never let him be happy. Simona comes running in then and finally he comes to his senses and sends her to call for an ambulance. Then he goes back to crazily telling the unconscious Regina how he needs her to love him and that she is going to love him over and over and over.

Leo, Candy and Mariangela are now eating in their little house. Leo tells Mariangela that his professors have told him her mother has no hope for a cure for this disease. There isn’t one. He hugs her as Teresa walks back in and sees them hugging.

In Spain, Karen swears that she won’t let Juan get rid of her that easily and will make him hers. Juan gets a call from Simona about his mother’s fall and she asks him to return home. He’d just decided to return to Mexico anyway (to find Paulina) and tells Simona he’ll be there first thing.

Gabe then gets a call from Simona about Regina and says he’s going to the hospital immediately. Jos walks in and is upset that he’s going to see Regina, but Gabe insists if she’s trying to become a different person then this is as good a place to start convincing him as any. He leaves and she curses at the thought of Gabe now running off to Regina.

Leo is called in on the case with one of his professors. Regina only says she cannot remember how it happened and only wants to forget. Gabe arrives in the waiting room and Demian immediately yells at him for daring to come.

Jos tells her mother she just isn’t patient enough to continue the farse. Miriam tells her that she won’t accomplish anything without patience and will only drive Gabe away if she harasses Paulina. Jos says she’ll kill Gabe before letting him leave her. Miriam advises her to persevere and continue to pretend being patient. Jos replies that she is not to doubt that she will see Gabe dead before allowing him to be another’s.

Great work! Didn't Dolores say to Demian: "OUR son Tiberio?"

Tiberio looks as old as Demian.

And isn't Miriam Gabrield's mother-in-law? So this is quite a May-December thing with Demian... the problem is, all the so-called moms in these soaps have had so much plastic surgery in an attempt to look a generation younger that you don't really get a sense of how old ANYBODY is.

I did double-check, and Delores does say, "I want to see Tiberio. I want to see our son." Thanks for the pick-up. I knew it was in there somewhere. I'll amend it. ;?)

a lot sure happened in this episode. Nice job recapping all of it!

All the face lifted characters are creeping me out. Their faces look like they are made of wax, especially Tiberio's. And when he opens his mouth it always get that odd rectangular shape like it will only stretch so far.

Is Belen Nutria from Barrera? I checked the IMDB and the names don't match up but she sure looks like the same person to me.

good recap

Your right about all the plastic surgery, Sylvia. The guy that plays Tiberio creeps me out! I don't know if it's because he has beady eyes or what! I feel sorry for Dolores.

Sylvia, you are right. Belen was Nutria in Barrera. Also Clemente was Jacinta's brother Sergio.

I miss abondigas (as my husband use to call it)I was a big time Alborada watcher.... these other novelas don't catch my attention.... does anyone know if another period novela will be shown... i check in at Pratie Place once and awhile... then remembered Caray!
