Acorralada - #14 - 2/1/07

This episode begins with a repeat scene between Max and Diana, in which she points out that Camila didn't seem to take the news well that Marfil was alive. Max tries to justify keeping a girlfriend on the side while his wife was doing the coma thing. Diana sympathizes with his predicament and says that now is the time to step up to the plate and be a good husband to M/D. Your love is the best medicine for "Marfil." I could just gag. Max states it is too late; his love for Marfil is gone for good.

Larry is wearing a Speedo. He is still at the shoot. He asks one of the models what it was she was going to tell him about Pilar. The model says nothing, it was just a joke. Larry believes her and doesn't push the issue further.

Peyote shows up at Pilar's apartment and basically catches Pilar and Kike. Not in the act, but just after the act. A fight ensues between Peyote and Pilar. Peyote screams "You're supposed to be marrying my brother in less than a month and you're cheating on him with THIS imbecile? Lots of screaming among Pilar, Kike and Peyote as they head out towards the pool. Pilar and Kike are telling Peyote it's not what she thinks. We're talking Peyote, not Flor/Alina, here. Peyote pushes Pilar and Kike into the pool.

Camila confronts her brother Emilio at their apartment. C - "You're Max's best friend. Why didn't you tell me his wife was alive?" Camila stomps off and Emilio tells their cousin, Sylvia, that he is going to confront Max. Emilio seems to have pointed out that Camila never fessed up to Max about the baby she abandoned. I wasn't really clear on this scene. Does anyone out there know if Emilio was aware Marfil was alive? I'm confused.

Diana is talking to her real grandmother, Miguelina, and telling her about the scene between Max and Camila. Grandma M says that men are scum. Diana defends Max by saying she can't blame him for finding a "friend" since wifey had been out like a light for two years. Grandma M asks if Max still loves Marfil. Diana says yes, but that Marfil "adores" Max.

Pilar walks into Psycho Mansion and slaps Gaby.

Paco (the bar owner who loves Fedora/Gaviota) is looking at some picture that we cannot see. He is asking, "Alicia, why have you disappeared from my life?" There's a knock on the door and Paco hides the photo. Pancho walks in and Paco asks where all Pancho's money is coming from. Pancho says the money comes from his business and the "business" is legal and decent. I don't recall Paco even bringing up the legitimacy or decency of Pancho's business, but I may be wrong. They go on to discuss his reluctance to marry Caramel. Pancho states that's why he's there. He wants to have Caramel move in with him. Paco gets mad (rightly so) and asks "You want to live with my daughter and treat her as a concubine?" Pancho apparently doesn't realize he's made a career-limiting move.

M/D and Max are discussing her therapy (physical, not psycho). M/D is again whining about how much she loves him and begs him to kiss her. She needs to feel his breath and lips ***I kid you not, that's what she said. I couldn't begin to make that line up.*** He leans in for the kiss, then psyche! He can't do it and pulls away. He tells M/D she needs to rest. M/D is pissed.

Gaby asks Pilar "why did you hit me?" Pilar accuses Gaby of telling Peyote about Pilar doing Kike on the side. Peyote walks in and they send Gaby away. Pilar is groveling to Peyote that she doesn't know what got into her. She begs for a second chance.

Gaby runs to her room crying saying she never said a word to Peyote about Pilar's affair. Pilar is just an evil person and doesn't love or deserve Larry.

Diego shows up for Peyote's piano lesson while Peyote is confronting Pilar. While Diego is waiting, Max shows up. Diego tells Max about what a good person Diana is. She doesn't deserve some married guy who's going to treat her as a plaything on the side. She deserves an honorable man who will treat her right; and Diego is just the man to do it. After Max leaves, Diego asks Diana (who has suddenly appeared) if Max is bothering her and treating her capriciously. Diana says no, that Max loves her but a relationship is impossible. She adds that the saddest part of all is that she loves Max as well. The camera then pans to Bruna who is lurking at the top of the stairs.

Peyote tells Pilar to fess up to Larry about her indiscretions asap. Pilar is begging Peyote to not say a word, because it would hurt poor Larry. Pilar swears she'll dump Kike, but "please don't tell Larry what happened." Peyote agrees to keep the secret. Pilar is in a quandary and doesn't know what to do. She loves Kike (who I later find out is a total creep) but is engaged to Larry.

Bruna calls Octavia and tells her Diana is back. O is not happy and wants to know why she wasn't told about it. "We'll talk later." Max catches Bruna and yells at her, threatening to throw her out.

Sylvia now has a pink wig. The dogs are all piled on Camila's bed with Camila, who is completely stressed out. They discuss what happened with Max and how his wife was really alive. Camila then brings up seeing Diana and wondering why Diana looks so familiar.

Meanwhile Diana is in the library alone with Max. Diana reports back on M/D's progress. Max wants Diana to sit for awhile and not run off so fast. Diana reminds him he's a married man and "don't touch me or I'll have to quit."

Andres is talking to Dr. Evil who is laid up in the hospital. Doc Evil says he doesn't want to die, but if he does, he makes Andres promise that Diana will pay for what happened to him.

More angst between Max and Diana. He loves her and wants her but she won't let him have her because he's married--he needs to be faithful to his wife.

Andres is thinking Diana is a babe and that he'd like to have some fun with her.

Sylvia tells Camila to fight for Max's love. Camila is going to go to the mansion and "confront the enemy."

Emilio asks Octavia why no one ever told his sister Camila that Marfil was alive. Max led Camila on. Octavia says it was a family secret and that Max had never promised to marry Camila any way. Too bad, so sad for Camila.

Bruna visits the real Marfil. Isabel, the real Marfil's caretaker, comments how Bruna has dedicated her life to the twins and that they should know the truth. Bruna becomes unglued and says they can never know the truth. Jamas! Bruna reminds Isabel that Isabel is paid well to keep her secret.

Andres shows up at Psycho Mansion ***Do they not have some sort of entry gate to screen people? They don't even seem to lock their doors because everyone just walks in.*** Andres threatens Diana that he is going to tell Max "the truth" that she is a thief, etc. if Doc Evil dies. He begins molesting Diana. M/D is listening in from the top of the stairs. All of a sudden there is a blood-curdling scream! Grandma DS (Dona Santa) catches "Marfil" walking and becomes hysterical. Max comes running and Andres runs off.

Max and Diana run upstairs. Grandma DS says Marfil can walk! No one believes her, however. M/D is now sitting in the wheelchair and Max wants to know how she got there if she is paralyzed. M/D denies being able to walk and that Bruna moved her to the wheelchair. Lots of accusations flying. Marfil walking vs. Grandma DS imagining things. Ultimately Grandma DS admits her mind is getting worse every day.

Andres is mad that Grandma DS's screaming interrupted his attack on Diana. "Sooner or later you'll be mine." says Andres.

Pilar and Kike are fighting about Pilar's plans to marry Larry. Kike doesn't want his son (I guess Pilar is pregnant) being raised by that moron. If Pilar goes through with her plans to marry Larry, Kike will show up at the church and tell everyone she is pregnant with his kid. Kike stomps off.

Larry is wearing a towel. Gaby walks in by mistake and is embarrassed. Larry asks Gaby for her advice about where to take Pilar for a honeymoon. He refers to Pilar as "Bella, Bella." Gaby says she doesn't know what to tell him since she's never been out of Miami. Larry then announces he is going to ask Octavia if Pilar can come to live with them at the mansion. Gaby is heartbroken.

Pilar runs after Kike and the fight continues over her upcoming wedding and Kike's threats to expose her pregnancy. As Kike walks off again, Pilar says repeatedly, "I can't marry him, I can't."

Larry is babbling on and on about Pilar, how much he loves her and can't live without her. That's as sure a sign as anything that disaster is looming. Gaby tells him he deserves to be happy. She then says to herself how much she loves Larry and wants to tell him about Pilar's affair, but that Pilar had promised to break it off. . . Besides, Larry could never be interested in someone like her (Gaby).

M/D tells Bruna she saw Andres talking to Diana, but she couldn't hear what was said. ***I believe Andres knows about Debora's past. Can anyone help me out with this?***

Octavia is mad that no one told her about Diana coming back to work at the mansion. She had to find out from Bruna.

M/D is complaining to Bruna that she's never alone, she hates Diana and plans to destroy her.

I am still trying to figure that out. I saw an episode earlier where Deborah's husband was reminiscing about how they used to commit carjackings together. What fun!

Deborah was the bait--she would pretend to hitchhike in a skimpy dress, then when she was getting into the car, husband would draw a gun. Just like Bonnie and Clyde. Sorry for my confusion just yet with all the character's names.

Great recaps! I loved your previous recap where you (I mean Gaby) rubs lotion on Larry's back. I'll admit, I'm very confused about all these different characters, but the recaps help a lot. I'm thrilled that you, Nina and hopefully Alex are taking this on! I can assure you that the work pays off big time in helping to learn Spanish. Welcome!!!

Thanks for the kind words, Sylvia! I'm glad to be here.

I believe you're right about the work paying off. I can tell a huge difference already. I have come a long way since a year ago when I walked up to a woman in my office and said "Hola, me llamo. . ." It's nice to see some new synapses being formed again!
