La Fea Más Bella #204 2/6/07 yap, yap, yap
Second, please, please, please, be conscious of other readers when leaving comments.
This is a spoiler free zone. If you hear that in the Mexican episodes Lety's having Humberto's lovechild and Marcia has run off with Celso, please keep that information to yourself or pop over to telenovela-world.com and comment about it there. We all love this show, and it's easy to get excited about the news in Mexico, but we must be considerate of each other!
Okay, so on to the show!
Aldo excuses himself for asking Lety if she was still suffering for Fernando Mendiola. Lety says she's confused because they were talking about Aldo's project ands she doesn't understand why he all of a sudden thought of Fernando. Aldo works his way around the question and asks again if Lety still thinks about Fernando. Lety meekly shakes her head no. Aldo says that's all he wanted to know. He gets up and backs out of the room saying he'll see Lety later. Lety guiltily watches him leave and then thinks about her conversation with Fernando outside of El Santuario when he told her that he still loved her. Lety questions herself why she thinks about Fernando when she has so much to do. She stalks out of the boardroom with her head down.
Once Lety reaches her office she runs into Lola who is leaving Lety's father's "office." Lola enthusiastically tells Lety that she thinks Erasmo completely understands Conceptos' files. Lety thanks her. Before Lola leaves the office, Lety sits in her chair at the president's desk and asks Lola how she looks. The both giggle. Lola quickly pulls a 180 and gets on her knees begging to know if Lety is going to fire her. Lety replies that she's going to speak with Marcia. She asks Lola to tell Marcia to go to the boardroom. Lola replies that if she goes into Marcia's office, at the very least Marcia will kill her. Lola says that non of the cuartel may show up in Marcia's office until their problem is solved. (Meaning knowing if they'll get fired.) Lety gets a great idea. She picks up the phone and calls Alicia who sweetly answers to Lety. In a very haughty tone, Lety asks Alicia to tell Marcia to go to the boardroom. Lola and Lety laugh quietly during the whole conversation. Alicia asks Lety what she and Marcia are going to talk about. Lety replies that they're going to talk about things that Alicia would never understand. She also asks Alicia to advise Fernando the same. Alicia tells Lety that Fernando has been there for a while and is in Omar's office. Lety repeats to Alicia to give Marcia the message. Alicia very politely and sweetly replies that she will do so with much pleasure. Lety and Lola share a laugh after Lety hangs up her phone. Lola changes the subject back to the prospective firings. Lety looks at her with a desperate face.
Alicia enters Marcia's office and rapidly tells Marcia that Lety wants Marcia in the boardroom. Alicia says that it's an order and that she's giving it in the exact same tone that Lety used with her. Marcia blankly stares at Alicia who tells Marcia not to look at her that way. She's just delivering the president's message. Alicia tells Marcia that she needs to hurry up because Lety wants to talk to her before the meeting. Marcia replies that Lety does not give her orders. Alicia says that she told Lety the same thing.
So Erasmo has just received a lesson on the computer system in Conceptos. What excites him? The calculator in the accessories! To each their own, I guess. Never mind, he's not that impressed. He needs a manual calculator. Lety tells her father she'll get him. Lety overhears Lopez telling Lola that she better have her settlement in her hands. Lety distracts him by asking if he'll get her father a calculator. Before Lopez can do that, Luigi comes out and asks Lopez about Yazmin and if they are going to re-contract with her. Lety interrupts and says that in a little while they're going to have a meeting. Luigi turns from her and asks Lopez again about Yazmin's whereabouts. Robopop jumps in and asks Luigi if he doesn't realize that the president of the company is talking to him. After telling speaking to Lopez one more time he turns to speak with Erasmo. Luigi tells Erasmo that his part of the business is separate from the rest and that he is autonomous and alone. (Ah, bow down to the all powerful Luigi! Yeah, right!) The cuartel steal glances at each other, wondering how this will end. Luigi says if Lety doesn't like it she can fire him. Luigi also warns Lety that just because she's Aldo's friend, it doesn't mean she deserves his respect. He demands Lopez find Yazmin and leaves the room. Lety tells her father that, yes, Luigi is the creative director. Erasmo asks Lety why Luigi speaks like a bee that's outside of its hive. Everyone laughs at Erasmo's imitation of a bee. Erasmo warns Lety that she should not allow people to speak to her like that.
Back in Marcia's office, Alicia continues to talk. She says she can't tell Lety that she doesn't give Marcia orders because Lety will fire her. Marcia says she's not going to tolerate this so she'll tell Lety herself. Alicia gets excited and describes all the things she would like to do to Lety. (Let's just say they're not so nice.) Alicia asks Marcia to take care of her job so that her debt to Marcia won't be for forever.
Lety agrees with her father but says there are different ways to establish authority. She wants to be respected for her work and her ability. She's not going to let anyone humiliate her. Luigi tells Lety that was well said and then takes Erasmo with him to find a calculator. PM walks into the room complaining about someone making her crazy. Lety tells PM that she should be in the reception area. PM says she's avoiding a problem. Saimon is very, very mad at her. He's always yelling that she betrayed him. After attempting to get the cuartel to agree that she didn't betray Saimon, she changes the subject (yes, again) to not being fired. Marcia comes into the room and asks if Lety needed her. When Lety says yes, Marcia asks why Lety wasn't in her office. Lety thought it would be a better idea to go... Marcia walks away before she can finishing her sentence.
Marcia sits at the head of the table and asks what Lety would like to discuss. Before she lets Lety talk, she warns Lety that she does not give orders to Marcia even if Lety is the president. Lety doesn't play along and says if Marcia is so capable why didn't she take the presidency. They bicker for a while and Lety ends saying she just wants Marcia to know that she's free to do whatever she wants. Marcia accuses Lety of allowing the members of the cuartel to arrive whenever they want and for ignoring discipline. Marcia says she will not permit this. Lety says she will not allow Marcia to put out employees who have all worked at Conceptos for more than ten years each. Marcia says they will never come to an agreement, but they do need to resolve this.
Tomas stands in his office and complains about having Alicia so close but not being able to talk to her. He decides to have her near him by placing her photos all over his office.
Marcia and Lety go on about how much they don't like each other but that they have to deal with one another. Lety tells Marcia that Lety knows Marcia does not want to fire the secretaries. She's always defended them and they look at Marcia as a just person. Lety understands that Marcia is mad because the cuartel celebrated Lety's position as president. Lety points out that Alicia arrived late as well. Lety states that neither one of them have an objective perspective on this because Marcia talks with Alicia and Lety talks with the cuartel. There is a lack of communication. Marcia asks what Lety thinks they should do about the lateness. Lety says that they should apply a sanction without firing them. Lety thinks that they should dock a day's pay and warn the cuartel and Alicia that the next time, they will be fired. Marcia asks if Lety will continue with Alicia as her secretary.
Outside, the cuartel listens to the conversation. Marta attempts to shush them while she listens. Alicia sneaks up on them and asks what they're doing. They try to shoo her away. Alicia wants to know who will be fired. Marta implies that they're only going to save six jobs, which would mean there is no room for Alicia. Alicia calls them liars. Sara points out that Alicia hasn't always been all that nice to Lety. Alicia tells them off and walks away to her desk.
Alicia cries at her desk because she thinks she's going to be fired. The phone rings. It's Lety asks Alicia to get Lopez, Luigi, Tomas, Omar and Fernando. They need to come to the boardroom for another meeting. Lety asks Alicia what's wrong. Alicia says she's going to be fired, the cuartel told her that she would. Lety tells Alicia not to give that any weight until she and Lety personally talk.
Marcia says that she didn't know that Fernando was coming to the meeting. Lety replies that she thought he would have told her. No, Marcia replies. Lety assures Marcia that Fernando's participation was initiated by him because he wants to help the business. Lety also tells Marcia that Fernando will be working in Omar's office. Lety says that she will not go near Fernando, but if Marcia does not want Fernando at the office then she needs to tell him.
In Omar's office Fernando tells Omar that he didn't have time to tell Marcia that he'll be working at Conceptos. He doesn't need to tell her everything that he does. Alicia comes into the office and sarcastically tells the men that they're needed in the boardroom. Fernando doesn't understand why Alicia is not using her favorite nickname, Tlacoyo. Alicia acts offended at this. When she walks out of the office, Omar points out her torn stockings. Omar wishes Fernando luck in the meeting. They leave for the boardroom.
Fernando enters the boardroom and sits between the women. He kisses Marcia's shoulder. Omar comes in and does his best Alicia imitation, sweetly greeting Lety. Alicia stabs him in the hand in with her pencil. Omar totally screams like a girl! Marcia thinks it would be a good idea if she attacked Omar as well. Omar gets on his knees and begs for forgiveness. Oh, it was just a dream! Fernando asks Lety if she's okay. Lety says she's very well.
Alicia orders Marta to tell Lopez to go to the boardroom. The cuartel laugh at Alicia giving them orders. Alicia says these are not her orders, they're Lety's. Lola tells Alicia to go tell the executives herself. Alicia complies by shouting for Lopez. He flies off to the boardroom. Lola asks if Alicia is going to tell Tomas.
Tomas is in his office. Alicia enters and says that Tomas's girlfriend is waiting for him in the boardroom. Tomas says that he and Lety are over. They're just friends. He's single now. Alicia makes it perfectly clear that she's not interested. Tomas runs to the door and marvels about Alicia.
Marcia tells Fernando that Lety told her everything about him having an office. Apparently, he was unable to tell her. Fernando explains that he's there to help. Yes, Marcia confirms that she knows that. Fernando and Marcia spat for a while. He says it was a last minute decision. She's upset because he didn't tell her. Lety excuses herself and tells Marcia that when she returns she wants her spot at the head of the table.
Lety goes to the executive bathroom. She talks to herself about how exciting it is that she's going to occupy the president's position. She happy because has Aldo's program to propose.
Aldo talks on his phone with Guillermo about the project. Alicia comes in and jokes that she got lost going Luigi's office. Alicia assures Aldo that she respects Lety a whole lot. Aldo humors Alicia's story about how she and Lety competed for the same position. Aldo tells Alicia that he would rather talk about her. Alicia immediately gives her measurements. She says she's a natural blonde. Alicia starts to write down her phone number when Luigi walks in and interrupts. He wants to know what Alicia is doing. Aldo is busy. Alicia repeats her story about getting lost looking for Luigi's office. Luigi does not believe her. Luigi pulls Alicia aside and says he does not want to see her there (in Aldo's office) again. They walk out to the hallway and argue about trying to get the same man. Luigi thinks he has rights to Aldo because he brought him to the business. It's the "I saw it first" argument. Alicia points out that technically Lety knew Aldo first. Luigi doesn't care about that. Luigi says he'll be the only one working with Aldo. Alicia remembers that she has a message from Lety.
Lety enters her office. Fernando is standing alone in the office. He asks her about her conversation with one of Luigi's friends in the boardroom. He nervously talks about how weird Aldo's last name is. "You were shut in, shut in with him." Lety says that she was not shut in with anyone for a long time. She also tells him that Aldo is her friend, not Luigi's. Fernando asks her what she was doing with Aldo. She tells him not to worry because he'll find out very soon. Marcia enters the office and says that they're ready for the meeting. Lety leaves. Marcia stays with Fernando and asks him if this is how it's going to be. Fernando says he knows that Marcia will be watching his and Lety's every move. He leaves her alone in the office, with a sour look on her face.
Luigi and Alicia talk more about possession of Aldo. Alicia reminds Luigi that he needs to go to the boardroom. Luigi freaks out when Alicia says that it was Lety who told him to go. He points out that Lety should know that he's not going to take orders from her! The only authority in this business is Marcia. Luigi sees Alicia's stockings and wants to know why she hasn't changed them. He asks if this is the latest style. Alicia replies to his jokes that this is a way to show her poverty. She hasn't bought new ones because she hasn't been paid. After she leaves, Luigi comments on how much Alicia suffers. Irmita walks over to Luigi and advises him not to bite the hand that feeds him. She thinks he should go to the meeting. Luigi says that if Lety wants to fire him, then she should fire him. He gathers his books as though he's packing to leave. He tells Irmita that she must be on his side. He cannot believe that they named Lety president! He cannot accept her. Luigi decides to go get Aldo so that they may get to work.
Lopez enters the boardroom. Alicia enters the boardroom to give a message. Marcia interrupts and demands to know why Luigi isn't there. Alicia tells her that he's not coming to the meeting because he doesn't recognize Lety as president and, therefore, will not obey her orders. He'll only obey Marcia.
Loved, loved, loved Omar's scream! I hope everyone has a great night and stays warm! It hit 20 below with wind chill today. I hope your days are warmer. ;-)

Sorry you got such a dull episode. Nice fast recap though!
This was a great episode to come home to after a long day of meetings and driving. I think Lety's administrative ability is shaping up quickly. I have high hopes for her being the very best manager ever to come through the door at Conceptos, and Robopop will be a good support. I think Aldo will, too. His presence gives her strength at the moment.
I envision Lety and Marcia seeing eye to eye on things and Marcia being ticked off that they do because she so much doesn't want to like Lety. She just wants to hate Lety and it won't be too long before she can't. That's my thought bubble.
Now I have to get some sleep because heaven knows, I got none last night.
Jeanne (warm and relieved, off the highway)
I forsee quite a few of these filler episodes in the next couple of weeks. They've got the advance the story, but none too quickly. So we'll probably be treated to some more fantasy/dream sequences. I really miss those, so I'm glad that Lety's one tonight was a hoot!!! Omar does scream like a girly girl. I kinda wish she would have stabbed him for real---but that wouldn't have been Lety's style.
Did you all notice Fernando leaning in to kiss Lety when he walked into the sala. I get such a kick out of those little things.
Didn't Luigi say something about buying some nylons for Alicia? So, perhaps there is a heart in there after all? Or is it just because her "fashion" is being marred by the holey stockings---like her binding outfits aren't a fashion crime in and of themselves.
I got a kick out of Luigi calling her Alibubi. Has he called her that before? If so, I must missed it.
And "AliBubi" had me spitting the sip of water I had just taken. What a great nickname for her. Seriously, if those get pushed up any higher they are going to be shoulder pads. My question is this...how does she breathe??
Amanda....Wow!! Super fast recap. Thanks for your hard work. I can go to sleep tonight with all of my questions answered.
Melinama...thank you for reminding people that this is a spoiler free zone. I really appreciate it. As much as I would love to "skip to the end of the book" on this novela, I guess deep down I really don't want the ending spoiled.

Like the rest, my favorite scene was when Fernando entered the boardroom and instinctively bent down towards Lety....then Marcia says "no me vas a saludar"? and all he can bring himself to do is give her a kiss on the shoulder...not even the cheek!!! Poor Marcia...I do sometimes suffer for her as well as Lety.
Alibubi is going to be right up there with "mimisquis assesinos" as my favorite Fea expressions. Judy
I enjoyed this episode very much even it's kinda draggy. I was ROTFL when Robopop asked Lety why does Luigi talk like a bee (he said another word/adjective that I didn't catch) and then immitated him. I loved the Lety/Fern meeting and Fern questioning her meeting with Aldo very cute Fern all jealous. I am anxiously awaiting 8:00 p.m. I even loved Lety putting the Moty mug in bathroom, I like that the old Lety is still there. Very cute.
Aldo, my local little league team is looking for their missing gloves..please dis-assemble that jacket and send them back...
Personally hiring Tomas was probably a serious mistake...I do not see this guy doing any work other than stalking.
Very poignant, I make out the words "besa me en la boca", male vocalist. Very haunting. I would love to get this music but know neither the title or the artist. Judy
I think the song to which you're referring is Besame. The only version I know of is sung by Ricardo Montaner. It really is a beautiful, haunting song.
Ah, Lety's wardrobe. I wonder how long they're going to have us stare at this outfit?
I did not think this episode was nearly as boring as the one from Monday, but that's because I can't stand the lengthy rehash scenes between Fern and O, no matter how gorgeous those two are.
So... Lety & Humberto, you think? I really was hoping for Lety & Ariel. ;)
My favorite scene was when Fern leaned over in the boardroom to "almost" kiss Lety! She looked very surprised and maybe happily so?
I suppose Marcia and Lety will come to some kind of working relationship. I wonder what happened to Humb and Mama T.? They have backed right out of the story.
I was sorry Erasmo will have the office next to Lety. I was hoping Fern would have a chance to sneak in occasionally but this will make it more difficult.
Fernando is even more gorgeous when he is jealous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My poor little dog can barely stand to go outside and is having a real problem with her feet on the ice and snow!
Now if only she could use the litter box like the cats!
Looking forward to spring!!!!!!!

When Fernando does slapstick, it sometimes reminds me of the slapstick that Jerry Lewis used to do.
In any event if the bloggers never posted a word of dialouge from the cuartel I wouldn't miss it. They never have anything interesting to say and their shrieking rubs my nerves something awful. Simply add "five minutes more wasted with the menapausal and premenepausal set yakking.
Laughed my head off with the Omar pencil scene. For a second I though only the bit of him falling on his knees was the dream. For once Marcia and Lety were on the same page.
Caught that subtle move of Fern's toward Lety. He just can't help himself and I know it is going to hurt to watch weeks and weeks of him trying to win back what he had.
The infighting over Aldo by Alicia and Luigi is amusing but the real fight appears to be coming between Luigi and Lety over Aldo's project. I suspect that Aldo will break Luigi's little heart when he turns the big progject over to her. Luigi needs to be taken down a peg and the project can save Conceptos. I expect mucho whinning and OMG's from the little bee.
Time for the cuartel to be put in its place. Lety made the first move by sending the supremely annoying PM back to the reception desk. And, didn't she say something to Marta about the food? I'd love to see her initiate some type of dress code.
I feel for you all with the cold. It was cold and nasty here last week and we had snow the week before (one day in the last 10 years) but it was a wonderful 80 yesterday and is headed for the high 70's all week.
I loved Lety telling her if she didn't want Fern working there she would have to tell him.
I did enjoy that sour look on her face after her little conversation wih Fern. Give it up girl - he is long gone.
Diane
Even though I was getting a little bored with all the yapping, there were some great parts:
1) Alibubi
2) the Omar pencil stab
3) Fern leanning to kiss Lety
No doubt Don H is resting, worn out by disciplining the kids. She’s watching telenovelas and knocking back a pitcher of margaritas.
So now Lety has all her protectors in place at Conceptos – Aldo, Tomás, and Robopop. And speaking of Don E, it was a bad idea to let him have the hueco with the door that just begs to be listened through. I just know he’s going to do it, never mind that he’s such an upstanding guy from una buena familia mexicana con valores. It’s the nature of the door. It’s there for eavesdropping.
Lety treated Marcia and Alicia better than they deserve. And I too loved the near-kiss in the sala de juntas. And Omar getting the pencil in the hand (Like in the original movie version of La Femme Nikita). I really wish Fernando would give him a good beating.
Thanks for the heads up about the futbol match. I knew about it and my newspaper didn't indicate it being on the same channel as LFMB.
In Arizona LFMB is also pushed back to 9:30 and what is WORSE it will only be a half hour. Let's see that means 5 minutes of what happened yesterday plus 2 sets of commercials and with any luck about 15 minute of real story HOPEFULLY minus the caurtel.
Anyway, loved the scene with Lui and Alicia in Aldo's office. They must have so much fun working together. I know Lui's an Ass, but I think his over-the-top attitude makes him fun to watch.

But about last night. Marcia is right to still feel threatened by Lety. She isn't completely stupid, (although some of that Botox might have leaked into her brain) she knows Fernando does not love her the way she wants him to. And I doubt he ever will. He needs a strong woman and he initially thought he'd found that in Marcia. But he gradually came to realize that he was confusing possessiveness and tenacity with strength. Lety, on the other hand, has the kind of strength he needs -a faithful partner he can rely on, who really does have his best interests at heart. Marcia doesn't really want Fernando so she can make him happy. She wants him so he can make her happy. And because she's fought for him so long.
I've double checked but my station might run the full hour. In any even thank good for caray-caray if I get screwed. Poor Mundo fans, having to miss one more hour of that godawful mess. I bailed on that one weeks ago.
I'm in Tucson so this game is a very big deal.
Anyway, I found it interesting that they really gave her a hard time about her new "Look"!
Also, I thought it was interesting when she informed Luigi that he was way off base with Aldo, because she didn't see anything "Gay" about him. He completely blew that off, like "no problem, I can win him over, anyway".....yeah, right!
Loved the Moty cup! Dogs, pets in general, always have a way of keeping up your spirits-no matter how depressing the day (or weather) may be, right?
Sorry for all of you up in the frozen tundra-won't make you feel bad by telling you about the nice weather here-love you all too much for that torture! Just hang in there and remember it won't be too much longer til Spring!
My boyfriend is pretty excited about it!
Janet
No I haven't seen that clip on youtube, but I love Lara Fabian! I'll have to check it out after class.
Rhonda - I went jogging in shorts too...on my treadmill. ;-)
It's so great that this novela appeals to such a big age group. My 80 year old dad who doesn't understand any Spanish loves to watch La Oxy and I think she is very funny with her Ayyyy Marcia!! all her name calling lets us learn some other words too.
I have to feel for Marcia, she has been in love with Fer forever (really who wouldn't be) and she wants to believe what he says and that he will change for her but I think she is starting to understand the error of her ways.
Omar and Fer scenes are so great!! They have teriffic chemistry too. The scene with Lety stabbing his hand was a hoot. There is a blooper video on you tube www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVB4Y-pprOw that is so funny and includes the blooper of this scene. Don't think there are any spoilers on it and it is really funny.

Q#2: Any comments on the role of 'machismo' among the male characters?
Thanks again for the recaps and comments - they make my day. They really come in handy when I am trying to watch Ugly Betty and LFMB at the same time. Y'all are a great community. Take care.
With any luck she wouldn't even know Humb wasn't around.
Is anyone planning on catching the Fern interview on esmas (tonight I think)?
I don't understand much Spanish so it won't do me anygood to listen but I sure would like to know what is said.
I think he is suppose to be in character.
Carrie L.
I'm so busy reading closed captions that I often miss the physical humor but when I went back and saw the twin-goodbye-scene of Luigi and Alica in Aldo's office, I had to laugh...that combination is the funniest in my book. They were great in the whole Aldo-fight scene.
Judy
Rhonda, I'm from Texas, also, and have a sister named Rhonda in Austin, Texas. I assume that isn't you.
I've been gone to Costa Rica for almost two weeks for surgery and had major LFMB withdrawals. In my second week I stayed up by myself in the TV room with the TV turned very low after I discovered LFMB was televised in Costa Rica also. Unfortunately, it must run the same versions as in Mexico. I was so desperate I watched one episode but it was too jarring to fast forward and I didn't want to spoil the ending so I stopped. So, thanks for the no spoiler rules. It just didn't feel right watching the show so far ahead. The only thing I did every day was walk to an internet cafe to get my LFMB fix here for my local time.
THANKS SO MUCH all you recappers for keeping me going. It felt so much like home logging in and reading the recaps and all the comments. Felt like I was among old friends.
Sorry for the long post. It was all stored up I guess.
Connie from Texas
Ah, yes, good old Eduardo, one of Lety's first mentors from Gurus R Us. Now why didn't they just bring him back instead of springing Aldo on us? (Not that I'm anti-Aldo, I'm actually a sucker for Argentinians.) But I digress. How many gurus has Lety had by now? I count six: E, Caro, Cristina, Anaís, Jorge, and Aldo-from-the Argentine-with-the-silly-Basque-surname.
weel yesterdays episode was pretty much the most boring ever we only saw aldo two times and it didnt get to seem anywhere
one funny part is when luigi says hel lend one of his medias or stockings for alicia
im actually watching the next show rite now all i got to say is fernando is a really good actor u will know what i mean soon
of course, Jaime alone would keep ME glued!
I would hire Lety as an executive in my company any day!
What the heck does "utilidad" mean- profit>
I'm in Waco., about 80 miles north of Austin. While it was great Tue. and Wed., ya'll can laugh at me when its 105 in the summer and I can't jog outside because I can't find any air to breath.
