Destilando Amor, 04/27/07: "Drunk as a Skunk and In Such a Funk"

Minnie walks into Aaron's office as he's rushing to get last minute things done before his 4 PM flight. She informs him that Isadora is divorcing Rod and that Rod is so obsessed with that jimadora hooker of his, he couldn't care less about Isa's leaving. They agree that Aaron needs to convince Rod to ask Isa to come back and to have her persist in her useless quest to seduce his cousin. Otherwise, if Rodrigo finds his migrant "working girl", she'll end up pregnant and Aaron and Minnie forfeit the fortune if their baby turns out to be a girl.

Aaron calls in Gavi and tells her to call up Rod at the hacienda so he can talk to him. Back outside the office door, Gavi freaks and asks/tells Elvira to make the call, but Elvira snaps back that Gavi doesn't give her orders and refuses. "Get back and do your job!" Gavi makes the call and Sayinyawanna answers the phone.

Rod has turned from the Gentle Green Giant to The Hulk on steroids. He is out in the back screaming and threatening poor Crispin that he has only one more month to find the real Gaviota. He says he's more in love with her than ever and it is just killing him. Then he throws the old guy out.

At the same time SJ tries to tell him about the company being on the line for him, but Rod screams at San Juana that he doesn't want to be interrupted when he's busy. SJ runs back to the kitchen and tells Gavi that he isn't in right then and has no idea when he's getting back.

Hilario is sulking there in the kitchen. SJ has been trying to get Hilario's attention and to cheer him out of his strange mood, but he snubs her and just walks off.

Minnie says Rod is just refusing to come to the phone. They need Grammie P's help with this. Aaron tells her to settle it herself. He doesn't have the time or the inclination because when he gets back he's got to convene an important board meeting with the family and Rod's got to be there since he's in charge of the other half of the family enterprise. Talk over. Aaron sends her off to Grandma's house, then tells Gavi to try Rod again and to make sure his cousin gets a message that there is going to be an important board meeting for the entire Montalvo family on the 27th. Above all, Elvira isn't to touch anything of his while he's gone away.

Grammie P and Sourpuss Sofia are not going to stand by and let Rod's marriage go to hell in a handbasket because who needs all the baggage a messy divorce leads to. Minnie comes by then and is hot under the collar because this new foxy Mariana has slyly managed to twist Aaron's arm into not just giving her the receptionist's job; but the brass-balled b!tch has now gotten him to throw out Minnie's handpicked unsexytary and to replace her with Mariana herself.

Grammie tells Minnie to lay off Mariana despite her jealous suspicions and Aaron's track record since she is in a "delicate" state, and upsetting herself could jeapardize her pregnancy.

Aaron is anxious to discuss the progress of the newer, higher priced tequila manufacturing project with them all. He fancies himself gaining the admiration of the entire Montalvo family with the success of this new product.

Icedora meets with Minnie and Sofia for lunch just to tell them she has definitely left Rod and isn't ever going back. She has had enough humiliation and rejection to last a lifetime. (The woman has her pride, ya know?) Absolutely nothing she tried got his attention. (My hubby says he gives her an A with two thumbs up in a circle for those efforts.....)

Minnie suggests she hold off and wait for the family meeting so they can take advantage of it to corner Rod then. Icedora says it's too late for that. She's going to collect for all her spilled tears and she is going to take Rod for half his entire fortune. If looks could kill right then, Sofia would have already sliced and diced Icedora and fed her chum to the sharks.

Rod is in a super funk. He closes himself up in his office with a fifth of tequila and listens to Gavi's tape. The guy is desperate to find Gavi and to make mad passionate love to her after that witch's brew from the night before it seems. He is on a drinking binge and screams to everyone who comes to the door to leave him the hell alone. He is one sloppy mean drunk, too, breaking and smashing everything in sight, including his grampy's picture. He is on a tear and is crying over his tequila. He blames himself for screwing up with Gavi so badly because of his macho man jealousy. (If Gavi only knew the pound of flesh she was collecting out of this.....)

Gavi calls again, but SJ cannot get Mr. Rodrigo to even talk to her let alone take any phonecalls, so she says he's still not back yet and has no idea when he's returning. Gavi then leaves Aaron's message about the important family board meeting on the 27th that he absolutely needs to attend. Rod, in between T shots, remembers the first time he and Gavi drank Tequila together and thinks about how much he needs her now.

Hilario tells Roman that he is too afraid to bother Rodrigo, but he is actually just suffering one hell of a guilt trip over getting it on with the boss's wife, figuring there is definitely no long term job security for him if and when that little news nugget gets out. Ofelia worries about Isa's sudden leaving being the cause of Mr. Rodrigo's going on a wild drunk. She's afraid he'll do something crazy to himself. Roman shakes his head and explains that his wife leaving him was actually an act of liberation for the man. It is Gaviota he's going nuts about, not Isadora. Ofelia is all a big wide-eyed OMG.

Since Roman is worried about his boss he tells Hilario to go grab the truck and bring back Mister James. James will be the only one who will be able to get through to Young Mr. Rod.

That same evening after work, Margarita has invited Gavi to join her and her boyfriend for a drink. Margarita's boyfriend has a buddy who will be sort of a blind date. At the club Blind Date Buddy (Manuel) of course asks Gavi if she's got a boyfriend. She answers no way. She doesn't need that kind of debilitating suffering and then laughs that love gives her a rash. Bind Date Buddy is forward enough to ask her if she's not interested in guys with small wallets, then, like him. Gavi laughs and says they're there to have fun. Margarita says she figures she got badly hurt by some guy sometime in the past. Gavi won't admit there was or is anyone in her life.

James gets Rod to open the door up and to let him into the room. Rod tells him he knows Isa left him when she realized the truth of the matter. He can't even breathe anymore he is so taken with the need to find Gaviota. James is so flustered he tells Rod that what he needs is a priest to exorcise him. "You're possessed, Rodrigo!!" (No. I'd say it is just the other way around, James, considering your guest stay at the Addams' family ranch.)

Rod asks him if he really thinks Gavi actually bewitched him. "--What are you saying?" Would she need to do that to entice her man? "You got to be crazy! Women usually do that sort of thing to attract men, not to keep them away from them." (No, guys. It was Isa who did this to the Rodster, and she botched the job 'cause she didn't bother to tell the old gal when she bought the potion that her Burly Bear was already in love with somebody else before marrying HER.)

James blasts Rod for losing his wife and destroying his marriage over a woman that he'll never see again, who probably doesn't want to have anything to do with him ever again and who is probably already involved with somebody else. Otherwise, she'd have contacted him somehow. (If it was the blind leading the blind before, it just became the blind being led by the deaf, dumb and -----.)

Rod refuses to accept the thought of giving her up forever and always like that. He begins yelling like a wounded wildebeast. He pounds on Jame's chest and screams at his best friend over and over that Gavi is coming back in the spring for the harvest, and that she will want to see him.

Rod tells James that he was never in love before and then when he fell in love with Gavi he wanted to live it to the fullest. His damned sense of responsibility made him go back to England. Then when he came back things with her just got so complicated. He just let his damned jealousy take over his good sense and now all he's done since he got back is step in it over and over again. Other couples break up but they get back to gether and get to give it a second chance, but he says that doesn't seem to be in the cards for him. (I think I started looking for my own tequila bottle about here.)

James says he needs to rise above this like he did with the tragic deaths of his grandfather and parents. After all, James adds, if he got over Sofia's dumping him and then found love again with Acacia, then Rod can fall in love again also. (Wha-?? I don't think you even wanna go there, Baby James. Nope. We don't really wanna have that discussion, you an' me.) Rod tells him that if he met Gaviota again even if he had to suffer it all over the same way, he would fall in love with her just like before, however much it hurt.

In the meantime, Sayinyawanna tries again to cheer Hilario up with another roll in the hay, but Hilario snubs her. This time around, though, she tells him to get stuffed.

Finally James tells Rod to get back with Isa and to make an effort, to find the desire to make things right with her. "Echele ganas". After James leaves him, Rod picks up the tape player and says out loud to Gavi, "If you knew how much I am suffering, we'd be together again already. We'd be loving each other now." He goes to sleep still playing her songs and calling out her name.

At the apartment in the city later that same evening, Icedora tells her mother her real plan is to frighten Sofia and her grandmother enough to get the family to force Rodrigo to take her back. Seduction didn't work. She doesn't have to lift a finger. She only has to sit back and wait now, or one-half of his fortune is her consolation prize. Isa's momma is thrilled with her daughter's ingenuity.

That night Grammy P and Sofia discuss the upsetting news about the impending divorce also. "Isa took her claws out." Those eyes bug out of Grammy P's head again, and she is really starting to sound like a stuck record. "I told Rodrigo there will be NO divorces in this family!" --particularly if that divorce is just to let her grandson free to go running after some whoring migrant and shame the family.

Sofia worries that because of some stupid whim of her mush-for-brains brother, they stand to lose half of their possessions while Isa ends up taking it to pay off her father's business debts!! She suggests that Rod will only listen to reason if Grammy talks to him. "Do it then, Grammy. Do it!!"

At the same time, Sofia thinks to herself that if Grammy really knew the truth about Gaviota, that she really went innocently to Europe looking for Rodrigo simply to tell him about their baby, then Grammy might just sit on her hands. Sofia figures that wouldn't do at all and would wreck her plans to get Isa pregnant and put the fortune securely under her brother's control.

Grammy P tells her to buy plane tickets for the two of them to go to the hacienda and speak to Rodrigo ASAP. "Right away, Grammy!" Sofia thinks to herself there is no way she is really going to let Grammy P talk to him let alone about his Gaviota "problem". Once they arrive she will make sure they don't get a chance to speak to each other.

Since it's aparrently a kareoke night, Gavi gets to sing her heart out and afterwards the whole bar cheers for her. It's late so Gavi decides to take a cab home then, instead of sticking around with the group any longer. She figures Clarita is probably worried about her. Blind-Date Buddy Manuel tells Margarita that Gavi seems to be a woman already in love, deeply hurt, but definitely in love.

When Gavi gets home she tells her mother about the nice evening she had. Gavi also suggests Clarita should go looking for a nicer and more comfortable apartment now that she's to get a raise in pay. Clarita then asks her if this new young man she met today might just be the prince charming she needs now. Gavi says no. Despite the pain of a lifetime hurt Rodrigo caused her, she will always love him.

Gavi and her mother discuss the phonecall to the hacienda. Clarita asks what Gavi will do if and when Rodrigo Montalvo finally does come up for the board meeting, and they see each other again. She'll suffer for sure. Gavi admits that even though she wanted the job to get some good business experience by working there she somehow feels closer to him. Either way, she plans to have everything ready and then to let Elvira take the bows in front of the family during the meeting. Eventually she'll find work somewhere else where she won't be haunted by Rodrigo's memory, as soon as she's gotten enough experience.

When James gets back to Melitón's ranch Acacia is sitting outside moping. She asks him where he's been off to. He explains and then asks her if she would spend the night with him. Acacia says no, she can't because of her uncle. "When are we going to speak to him?" "--Never!" She wants him to swear he'll leave as soon as the peanut harvest is over and never look for her again. Then she surprises him with another desperate kiss.

Melitón starts screaming for her about then and she runs off. James gets this puzzled look on his face, like "what the heck is happening here?" (Can he really be that naive about Acacia's relationship with her uncle after the other night??? How can he still be after her if he suspects anything at all like that? Yechhh!)

Inside the house, Acacia enters her uncle's room, but stays by the door. Melitón gets out of his bed and starts scratching himself in all the wrong places. He orders her to get into his bed but she refuses point blank. He beats her face with his fist, knocking her down and against the wall. Her nose is bleeding. He grabs her by the hair. "My house, my rules!" (My Gawd.)

While all this is taking place Roman finds Hilario sulking near the house. Hilario has been remembering Icedora's insults towards him. He 'fesses up to his daddy that he fooled around with another woman. Roman can handle that news and says hopefully SJ doesn't know, but somebody will eventually get hurt if he doesn't break it off with one or the other. Hilario admits then that it was a married woman. Roman jumps up and runs off telling him that was foolish and has to stop immediately. Hilario agrees it won't happen again.

Before going to sleep, Clarita and Gavi have one more conversation about work. Gavi mentions that Aaron Montalvo's wife is crazy jealous of every woman, but with reason. This surprises her mother who tells her to keep her eyes wide open so that he doesn't take after her skirts the same way, then take a broom to her (in a manner of speaking) like playboys generally do. Gavi says he's so far been decent towards her.

The next morning Gavi gets in trouble from Elvira for supposedly keeping her out of the loop for the meeting preparations. Gavi says it wasn't intentional. She just thought to learn the ropes herself and save Elvira the prep work. Elvira yells at her and accuses her of trying to take over her job responsibilities also just to shine in front of the Montalvo family. Gavi says it wasn't that way, but oh well.

Rod comes downstairs with a a hell of a hangover. He is asking Roman to go with him to the distillery. Ofelia runs in to advise him that there is another call from the corporation. Aaron's secretary is wanting to speak to him. Ofelia gives him the message about the meeting on the 27th and says they've called a few times now. Roman tells him they've been trying to reach him for a while. Rod says he doesn't want to go to talk to anyone and is in a rotten mood. "Let's just settle this business once and for all. Give me the phone." He starts speaking rudely into the receiver (without knowing it is Gavi on the other end). "Hello. You tell my cousin I'm not interested and I am not coming to any board meeting!!"

Great recap Jardinera. You gave excellent details. I love your description of Rod changing from the gentle green giant to the Hulk on steroids. That was so funny, I'm still laughing. Something tells me he will be at that meeting. I cam just see a near hit and miss encounter between the love birds.

Thanks for the great recap...always adds a little to my weekend. I'm loving the new vocabulary and expressions I'm picking up in this one...each stable of writers seems to have a different language slant. New telenovela, new challenges. But thank God for you recappers because it often goes by too fast for me to catch it.
Judy B.

Thanks, guys. Judy B. If you can, but haven't thought to already, do yourself a favor and remember to turn on your closed caption option. They will be in Spanish so you can read along. Also record the show and then you can review the dialogue at your leisure. =/:>)

Great recap..loved Rod beating himself up...things got so complicated...yeah, AssHat...you married someone else, then tried to make lil Gavi your Amante...Now then in the event Rod returns to DF, does Gavi think everyone will just be cool with his jimadora working there? Like yeah, but she has sweet life skills, like nunchucks and she speaks three languages plus a little German? Gavi needs to save her money cause this can not work out well..unless she becomes him amante...in which case she & ma & all the lil spawn would be set for life, but I know Gavi isn't gonna go for that...

ahhh i can't take it anymore
this novela is torture! can't he find her already?

it was moving along nicely and now we get variations of the same thing every day

Thanks for the recap.

I cant wait to see Rod's reaction when he first encounter's Gavi....will he tell everyone she is Gavi or will it be there little secret.... or will he over understand and accuse her for trying to steal the company.

LOL! u have to love this novela nothing stays in the closet long.

I can't help but think that Rod will end going to the meeting. He'll call back and talk briefly to Gavi on the phone but since she answers the phone with a different name, he won't recognize her. When they do hook up she'll let him know that her scheme (working for Aaron under a false name)was only to find him. Rod and Gavi won't reveal her identity initially. Meanwhile, the family will be pleased that Rod has fallen for the beautiful secretary and forgot about the jimadora. By the time the rest of the family finds out who she really is, it'll be too late. She will have charmed them to the nth degree. Of course there's still some tough waters that the lovebirds have to tread so the first time they are back together there will undoubtedly be another crisis to seperate them once again. Afterall, it's a bit early in the series for them to find lasting love. What are the rest of you thinking is going to happen soon?

Thanks for the recap Jardinera. Hey Anon at 10:48, your conjecture on the future of Gavi and Rod was good. At this point I can't imagine Rod seeing Gaiv and not screaming out her name and blowing her cover. Also the writers are setting us up for Gavi and her mom being in a bad financial situation after they move and Gavi's get fired because they find out she's Rod's love or lying on her resume.

Karen

My best guess is he gets intrigued by her voice. Eventually he sees her there and she lies about her name but then he figures she's lying and she admits it. They keep it as their secret and things progress for a while positively.

I hope it's not another ''Duelo''. You know, when Emiliooo didn't recognize Florina because she was in that clever disguise...a tee shirt the jeans. Que????? I hope that we aren't expected to suspend our disbelief enough to believe that HotRod does not recognize Gavi because she's wearing a business suit and heels instead of her quaint little jimadora frock. Please, no. Also, Do you think that Icedora [good name] might be pregnant by Hilario and try to pass the baby off as HotRod's ????^^^Susanlynn, ready for HotRod and Gavi to be reunited [shout out to Peaches and Herb]

Oh Susanlynn, say it ain't so. Rod's gotta recognize Gavi/Mariana if and when he sees her, even in her new "disguise." If Rod even approximates Emilioooooo's idiocy I'll scream. I'd prefer the version where he recognizes her but somehow keeps her secret. Either that or she manages to evade him.

I thought E Yanez did a fantastic job playing a drunk. He even had that confused, unfocused, slits-for-eyes thing going on. Very convincing. The Hulk on steroids is right. But I don't feel too sorry for him because he brought it all upon himself.

Jardinera, this was a great recap. You really outdid yourself with the excellent comments and descriptions. 'Scratching himself in all the wrong places,' very graphic!

Thanks, and I hope you're right Jardinera, it would make it more suspenseful if Rod didn't blow the id immediately.

I think Icedora will have problems finding maternity clothes.

Also, for being so intent on getting ahead, Gavi blows every cent she makes. Why not stay there a while and save a few bucks for a rainy day? I can see a thunderstorm brewing...
jb

EY did do a good job portraying the done-in, depressed, I-dun-u-wrong drunk. The red, puffy and squinty eyes were a very nice touch. Shout out to make-up! The soliloquy's were well-written and credible. My favorite scene was when he picked up the tape player off the floor and told Gavi if she only knew how much he was suffering over what he had done to her. I hope that is some real fore-shadowing on the writer's part, because I would say we've gone through enough self-flagelation to justify a poignant reunion by the end of the upcoming week.

If Icedora turns up pregnant, will Hilario confess? Will Gavi and Rod have a surprise or prearranged meeting at the cathedral (previews)? The other Montalvos, I think, will be thunderstruck when they learn Gavi has been right under their noses. And poor James . . . he needs to get the heck out of Dodge!

During a radio commericial about Destilando Amor, my interpretation of what I heard was "Rodriquez tells Gaviota that he doesn't love Isadora". Now, maybe he says that over the phone without knowing who he's talking to, but at least it's progress. (Providing it happens in this lifetime). I've said it before, but here I go again. These recaps are great. I can follow the obvious especially with my subtitles. But I would miss the fine points (like Sophie's manipulations and those talks with grandma. ie: I couldn't figure out whether she was friend or foe to Isa.) One last comment, whether you like Aaron or not, you have to admit that he's playing his part to the max. I happen to like him because he's not just a pretty face, he's a darn good actor. I've known a lot of guys/dawgs like him in my lifetime and he deserves an oscar for his imitation of the type guy you love to hate.

It may be possible that TWB is constipated..oh ment pregnant but i dnt think her sleeping with H is going to be kept a secret for too long Rod will find out, what he does with the information is going to be a definately LOL moment.

TWB thinkin she is going to get Rod's money...she is definately in for a shocker. Epecially when she finds out that Rod's family already know that her father is bankrupt.

JE!JE!JE! wait..... when the Grapevine reaches Pilar,TWB has been sleeping with the help.LOL

Anon 1:03, It's Sophie that is constipated...and needs a life...
jb

I would have been really disappointed if you hadn't mentioned The Incredible Hulk.

When Creepy Uncle smacked Acacia I noticed that her teeth were awfully nice and even for someone in her situation.

Gavi must really be in love with Rodrigoo if she can turn down the likes of her old boss from the hotel, and her double-blind-date guy Manuel. Those guys could have been the lead in some other novela.

Julie: I thought exactly the same thing about these guys who've been attracted to her that she has just blown off. The Max guy has been a character/supporting actor in many novelas, but I haven't seen him as a lead at all. He could carry it off if Uni would let him. The same with Blind Date Buddy Manuel character. He was way too young looking for AR but very handsome. He could be some "fresh meat" for Uni if they'd let him.

Anon 1:13

I think Sofie has a job she is making sure the family's money dnt end up with Aaron...this is the kinda work that needs her 24hrs attention.

Jardinera -thanks for the wonderful recap. I hope your right about a poignant reunion between Rod & Gavi by the end of the week, because I, like Andrea, can't take much more of this. I also think Isa will turn out to be pregnant by Hilario.
I can't help but think that the whole, James, Ocasia, Creepy Uncle situation is going to turn violent.
Thanks everyone for your comments. I love this novela.
Miranda

Can you imagine if Isa gets pregnant from this encounter with Hilario? What becomes of him and his child, particularly if Isa doesn't want it or uses it just to win Rodrigoooo back. I can also see trouble brewing after a reconciliation with Gavi or a lack of a reconciliation with Gavi because of her using this baby and pretending it is Rodrigoooo's.

thanks Jardinera for another excellent and well detailed recap.

loved your description of Rodrigo's drinking binge... and the Hulk -- too funny!

I hope your right about the Rod and Gavi prediction because at the of this episode, I was ready to jump through the tv and slap Mr. Rodrigoooo.

You go girls. I love these predictions. They're nice fillers. While we're waiting to see what's gonna happen, at least we can dream. I agree with the person who said that Hilario is going to confess having sex with Isa. I can hardly wait, she deserves it. That just might be the thing that will alert the Hulk to the fact that he needs to take time off from his endless, fruitless searching and boozing to either get a divorce or an annulment.

Okay, here's a thought. Aaron offered to "be there" for Iceadora. What if he is "there for her" in the near-ish future and THEN she finds out she is pregnant? Hillario will want to know if it is his and will spill the beans, but Aaron will want to keep it on the down low and try to keep her quiet about it. I wonder if Gramp's will has provisions for the "winning cousin" impregnating the other's wife? Seems like that should earn a game misconduct...

unless Rodrigo believes in the Stork, there's no way Isadora can pass of a baby as his... being that they haven't done the deed yet

Isa cannot claim any baby as Rodrigooo's can she? I mean, she has told her sisters-in-law and Grammy and Aaron have been told 3rd hand, that he will not touch her as the reason she wants a divorce. So perhaps Isa pulls a Mundo or she divorces/anuls the marriage and has an affair with Aaron and tries to give him a boy for part of the family fortune.

I am with Gavi....Boss Max and Blind Date Manuel do nothing for me...nada. They are not in Hot Rodrigoooo's league. You either like linebackers or you like quarterbacks and Gave obviously likes the big guys. I am at a loss as to how they will get Gavi and HotRod back together again. As for Icedora being pregnant by Hilario, perhaps she will try to convince HotRod that they had sex one night when he was drunk as Esperanza did with LuisAlborada. I think Luis's responsewas 1] ''I've never been THATdrunk. and 2] ''Maybe she slept with the devil , but she didn't sleep with me.'' Then , he swooshed his sword around a lot and said ''Maldito !!!'' over and over. If Icedora tries this approach, I think that HotRod's reaction would be the same as Luis's ...but without the sword part. He might , however, rip out a few agave plants. What purpose would the triste with Hilario be for if not to have Isa turn up pregnant after telling EVERYONE that her husband has NEVER slept with her. Talk about a one-woman man. I thought for sure that like in other telenovelas, one time HotRod was going to get drunk and through a tequils haze think that Icedora was Gavi [Think Manuel-Antonia-bathtub here.]^^^Susanlynn, having no idea where this show is going....and...let me just add.....PIRATES

Not a bad idea Susanlynn.I was also think, If TWB did end up pregnant and Aaron found out he would keep the infore on a down low, then drop the juicy secret when they met for the final will reading.

Or TWB may not be pregnant but she will keep tryin.

I have been waitin to hear what the sex of Aaron's baby i have a feelin it a boy.so when the last will is read the question of Gavi's baby will come to question

Anonymous, that is a very intriguing idea, the sex of Gavi and Rod's baby. It's been touched upon before and I think we shouldn't forget it.

By the way Jardinera, that was me up there, anonymous 11:50 a.m., guess I forgot to sign my name. Let me say again what an outstanding recap this was. I like the idea of Isa doing it with Aaron for a share of the fortune. That's pretty diabolical.

I felt i should share this !

-OK this is the last time.
-Don't be so superstitious.
-Now watch this....

Our group spectulation is pretty good. I like the idea of TWB and Aaron hooking up (hee, hee). I also think Susanlynn brings up an excellent point about the obvious set up of TWB telling the whole family he hasn't touched her and her night of passion with Hilario. Since novelas are famous for the you only need one brief liasion to get pregnant and add to that her complete dismissal of Hilario, she's preggers.

I also loved the Alborada reference (hearing Placido Domingo singing in the background) Susanlynn made reference to Don Luis (swoon) and Esperanza's ill fated attempt to pass her pregnancy off as Don Luis's!! I just want TWB to get exposed at least partially as the manipulator she is. I just feel badly that Hilario got involved with her.

Karen

I hate to bring up this subject but my curiosity is killing me. I missed the recap or original comment where Isadora was dubbed TWB. I know the w stands for whore. What does the T and the B stand for? A while bace one Anon didn't like the name but I think whore is a good name for the Bitch.

Thanks to the person who posted the ''famous last words''---I loved them. Also, TWB ---the T is for ''trophy,'' and the B is for ''Barbie'' [as in Barbie doll. I hope that they get this party started ...I want to see HotRod and Gavi mix it up with AAron and Nasty Minervaaaaaa. Bring it onnn!!p.s. Did anyone watch ''Bailando'' last night. It was a whirlwind of dancing. Manuel was magnifico. He did 7 different styles of dance!!! The man is a dynamo !!!! Poor Liz's new partner almost dropped her. That girl is fierce and fearless. She is my idol. I have a funny feeling that Susana and Enrique are going to win. I think that Iran and Romeo were eliminated...that made me very sad. Romeo has given it his all and seems like a really good guy.

I watched most of Bailando last night. I thought it was one of the best so far, maximum dancing and minimum filler. Manuel was amazing. He always is but even more so last night. He danced all those dances then the judges dinged him on his last dance for "lack of enthisuasm." Those jerks! They sit there like lazy slugs all night long watching him dance his heart out and then have the nerve to mark him down for not being energetic enough. Except Edith, of course; she was fair to him.

I thought for sure Liz was going to land on her head! I can't believe she was able to keep going. Her temporary partner was a really good dancer but he couldn't pick her up and throw her around like Edgar does. She's so muscular I imagine she must be heavy. Anyway, for once Ema the sourpuss seemed to be giving Liz a break last night.

Weren't Romeo and Erika (his girlfriend) amazing? I don't remember seeing them dance together before. I think Romeo and Iran are actually the best couple overall. Romeo is extremely talented. Unfortunately, they did get voted off last night thanks to the vote of the people, the popular vote, and Josue/Jacqui got to stay. At least R and E got some good prizes out of the deal, and who knows what else. That guy is super talented.

Bailando really seems to be winding down, only four couples left!

Regarding TeleNovela & Soap hook-ups...for those who watch Lost...it is the Jizziest Jizz that ever Jizzed...one time and she is pregnant...ie: both Marianna & Joselyn, GL, Jonathan & Lizzie...ah, Super Swimmers...Hilario nailing SanWannnaWanna for a year and please you can't tell me that girl practices Birth Control & no kid, but now...TWB...Rod and his one time shot with Gavi..I guess only on LFMB do people actually practice BC & well PM, one kid later I guess became a believer.

I was thinking that if Icedora (like the nickname!) ends up pg by Hilario, she might not have such a tough time convincing Granny, Sofie, and maybe (slightly possibly, if the timing is right) even Rodrigoo himself to pass it off as Rodrigoo's, if it means screwing things up for Aaron.

Well, in Mexico adultery is still grounds for divorce.... maybe if Icedora gets pregnant this would be the way Rodrigo can divorce her......just a thought.

Hey, Spanish experts! I'm wondering about a couple of phrases in the last episode:

"Echele ganas" - what does this mean?

principe azul" (blue prince??), how Clarita said that Gavi just needed a prince charming.

If you have any info, please tell. Gracias. :)

Yeah, blue prince is like a prince charming. Not sure where the blue is coming from, but that's how it's meant.

I don't know about the other one.

My understanding is that "Échale ganas" means do it as best you can, go for the gusto is the connotation.

Trend carefully on youtube, they already have posting of destilando amor..... clips of what we obviously haven't seen since Mexico is two months ahead of us.

Gavi's two recent suitors were both attractive men and actors I'd like to see if future productions. And they seem so much more appealing than Rodrigo in light of his recent tantrums.

Thanks to Marg. and Becky for the info!

Do we really know for sure that Acacia's aunt is out of the picture? Maybe she's been preserved in one of the rooms at Arroyo Seco -- until James discovers the truth!

PRINCIPE AZUL - ORIGINS:
I'm copying this from Wikipedia de Español and then in English to avoid anyone griping that it is a racist response to a legitimate question. If someone takes offense, then it is unfortunate because facts are facts. They may be considered "unpleasant truths", but no amount of revisionism changes a fact, only the perception/requisite perception of a fact. There are a couple of ideas presented, but Wikipedia is not necessarily always footnoted or "refereed". People can add or change the information of a given topic without consequence.

IMHO "Príncipe azul" refers to a blue-eyed and blonde (lighter) haired AND lighter skinned European, i.e., a rare specimen as is Sebastian Rulli/Sergio Sehdel. Blue eyes in particular are genetically rare. The darker the skin-tone of a population, the rarer the appearance of blue eyes and thus the greater the attraction. This fictitious characterization stems from Spanish populations who were intermixed for centuries with more olive-skinned or black-skinned Moorish populations having generally brown and black eyes compared to the other more northern European populations. Once Spain set up colonies in Latin America the darker skinned indigenous populations with their dark hair and eyes mixed into the gene pool and made the odds against being born looking like a Sebastian Rulli or a Sergio Sendel even greater. Therefore, there is a reason that these characters usually have a British or a French accent.

"Príncipe azul"
De Wikipedia, la enciclopedia libre

El príncipe azul es típicamente un joven bien plantado...... En muchas representaciones habla con acento francés o británico......El color azul alude al carácter real del personaje, teniendo posiblemente el mismo significado que en la expresión sangre azul: la aristocracia acostumbraba a alejarse del sol, por lo que estaban pálidos y las venas eran más visibles en su piel blanca. [The blue color possibly alludes to to the real character of the person, meaning literally a blue blood/ bleeding blue since aristocrats were in the habit of staying out of the sun and keeping their skin pale, thus their veins would show more readily against their whitened skin.]

Prince Charming
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Prince Charming is a stock character who originates in a number of fairy tales. These characters are often handsome and romantic, a foil to the heroine, and are seldom deeply characterized, or even distinguishable from other such men who marry the heroine. In many variants, they can be viewed more as rewards for the heroine rather than characters."[1]

Wikipedia In English: Prince Charming is typically a well groomed adolescent.[citation needed] citation needed] In many depictions he speaks with a French or British accent.[citation needed]

Thanks, Jardinera! Interesting to hear about the connection between principe azul and blue blood.

Sylvia~~~I feel so sorry for Romeo and Erika. I think that Romeo had a very poor childhood. They showed his hands in one show, and they were slightly deformed or arthritic. [I guess through hard physical labor.] I also think that he was the contestant who had an alcoholic father. He seemed to have such a sweet nature, and Iran seemed to sincerely like him. He danced his heart out every time. He and Erika were wonderful dancing together, so maybe they can use that talent in the future. Jardinera~~~Thanks for the Prince Charming info. Blue eyes are from a recessive gene , so you have to have two parents each supply the recessive gene for blue eyes in order to get a blue-eyed child. If one parent gives the recessive gene for blue eyes and the other gives the dominant gene [brown eyes] , you get a browneyed child. I also noticed that the leading ladies in many telenovelas are redhaired with green or blue eyes. [Matilde, Hippolita, Gaviata]^^^Susanlynn, a browneyed brunette with a browneyed brunette daddy and a redhaired, hazeleyed mommy and a redhaired, hazeleyed sister who got really sick of hearing ''So, why don't you have red hair like your mother and sister?'' Even at 5 years old, I'd glance at my daddy and think ''Look at my Daddy, Asshat.'' Well, I guess at 5 I didn't think the Asshat part.

I always enjoy your sign-offs, Susanlynn!
