Article about over-botoxed movie/tv stars...

Over on my other blog I posted extracts from the Wall Street Journal's article about The difficulty of finding older actresses who actually look their age to play moms, etc. on tv and in movies. Reminds me of how, in our telenovelas, the moms are usually trying to look the same age as their supposed daughters...

Melinama I know that this has nothing to do with the post, but I wanted to tell you and all that the telenovela Lazos de Amor protagonized by Lucero the best telenovela of her career interpreting three triplets, the good one, the bad one and the blind one. It is starting on Tuesday, May 15th at 10 in the morning on Telefutura. I am taping this one.

I will leave you two scenes from youtube so you can get a taste of it.

BTW this was made in 1995 o 1996, it's a classic.

We appreciate this over at Acorralada. One of the stars has a completely immobile face. She is supposed to be the mother of people 25 to 30 years old.

It's damned if you do, damned if you don't. How many actresses who look their age get cast after 35 or 40? How many roles are written for them, beyond "mom' roles?
Of course, they do what it takes to compete for the few roles available. Usually, the "younger looking" actress get the role, unless it's a horror show.
As far as botox, at any age, I'm reminded of androids in Sci Fi tv/movies.
