Duelo de Pasiones - Wed May 16 - Death Comes Knocking

Part One

After the almost wedding, Emilio confronts Don Loco telling him to leave his house, and telling Soledad that her husband tried to kill him. She is shocked and Don Loco denies this is true. He claims that if he tried to kill Emilio then he would have finished the job.

Fat Max pulls Don Loco out of the room and warns Don Loco that he won’t let a Montellano kill a Valtierra.

Castulo holds a gun to Carmens head saying he will shoot her unless Santos comes with him. The boss wants to see Santos. Santos relents as Carmen cries and goes to pray at a little alter for the Virgencita.

Thelma is pissy that Alina fainted. She snaps at her aunt and is told to calm down by Orlando. Orlando asks her if she wants to get rid of him. She tells him not to be stupid she is only complaining about her aunt.
.
Carmen tells Braulio and Rosita where Santos has gone.

In Mexico City the bow tie wearing doctor Ricardo is now a bolo wearing doctor. He tells Malena that he needs to return Mariana to Sierra Escondida to clear up the mess about Jose. Elias told him everything that has gone wrong. Malena suggests that they instead write a letter. Bolo doc tells her they can’t; it was a letter that started this whole mess. Ricardo performs some physical therapy with Mariana while she thinks that she will do whatever is necessary to get better so she can tell the truth.

The corrupt police capitan of San Mateo questions a bus driver. He learns that Mariana split town via bus. He is going to inform el patron Don Loco.

Braulio gets his shotgun to go track Santos down.

Nurse Suzy tells Emilio and Angel that the good Doc Vazquez is going to find out what is wrong with Alina. She has something real strange. The camera flashes over to Thelma and Orlando who are around the hall corner eavesdropping. Orlando asks Thelma if she poisoned Alina. Thelma calls him an idiot. Camera pans over to Angel and Emilio who decide to leave the doctor alone so he can work unpressured. They run into Thelma and Orlando. Emilio gives them the evil eye.

Soledad scolds Don Loco for shooting Emilio. He tells her he did it because Emilio raped Alina. He didn’t want to tell her this and cause her pain but its true. Orlando is marrying Alina to cover up for Emilio’s actions. Soledad is disbelieving and upset.

Doctor Vasquez tells Suzy that Alina has a weak pulse. He claims its useless to continue. Suzy looks on in horror saying Alina is going to die.

Soledad runs into the living room of La Rinconada screaming at Emilio asking why he did it. She slaps him as she continues to scream at him. Dr. Vasquez comes into the room and tells everyone he did what he could but Alina has died. Soledad starts screaming Noooooooo. Emilio’s face twists in pain and tears.

Castulo pushed Santos into a room where Fat Max is waiting. Max tells Santos that the only way they are gong to fix things is to have one of them die and for Santos he has bad luck because he is going to die.

Soledad freaks some more and runs out of the room. Emilio screams at the doctor. Orlando goes up to Emilio to offer a comforting hand but Emilio lashes out at him and shoves him down on the couch. The doctor looks sad while Emilio cries.

Luba uses a molcajete to grind some herbs. She tastes her mixture and claims it could raise the dead. She decides it needs one more herb. She starts to looks for it in her cave and comes up empty. Its missing. She leaves with Tonky to go find the missing herb.

Soledad cries over Alinas dead body. She repeatedly asks why?!?? She scolds herself saying she should have fought more.

Don Loco asks Thelma what is taking so long. Thelma tells him that Alina died.

Max tells Santos that he warned him to stay away from Rosita. Santos tells him he can’t believe he is doing this to his own son. Max starts in on how he doesn’t have any kids when the door slides open. We see the end of a shotgun and hear a gun shot. Everyone eyes are real large. Who was shot?

Don Loco is shocked/confused with the news of Alinas death. Thelma offers that perhaps sadness killed her. Don Loco emphatically states that sadness does not kill. Thelma is not so sure; he should ask Soledad who is crying over Alina’s body. She asks Loco if maybe at the bottom of his heart he cared for Alina or does he have a heart of stone. Loco looks at her with confused eyes. Doesn’t he feel sorrow for Soledad? Loco stares off in space.

Max informs Ifigenio that Braulio killed Castulo. Castulo meanwhile is lying on the floor of the room bleeding from his back. Braulio claims he should have killed Castulo earlier when he learned it was he who raped Rosita. Rosita cries.

Luba hides with Tonky as they spy on the bad spiritual guys. She tells Tonky that they will tell her where to find the herbs to save Alina.

Soledad tells Alina that she will stay with her until the last moment. Emilio enters the room and Soledad tells him to get lost. She tells him to not get near her daughter. She knows what he did to her, he abused her, he raped her, and she loved him. She adored him. Emilio is shocked to hear this.

Luba warms the dirty creepy spiritual guys not to harm her. She says Tonky knows what to do as Tonky barks.

Emilio tells Soledad that he didn’t hurt Alina; his error was that he didn’t believe Alina. Soledad doesn’t care to hear his excuses. Orlando walks in and Emilio unleashes his fury on him. He tells Orlando its his fault that Alina is dead.

Santos tells Ifigy that Braulio saved him. Max is louder than Santos claiming that Braulio should be arrested for murdering Castulo. Never mind that Castulo was pointing his gun at Santos and about to kill him. Rosita begs for Braulio to not be arrested. She begs Max to leave him alone. Max laughs and saunters up to Rosita saying If you ask me……. Santos looses it and pushed Max down and away from Rosita. All the while Castulos dead eyes stare from the floor.

Soledad tells Orlando and Emilio she doesn’t care which one of the two is worse. She wants both out. Emilio swears it wasn’t him. Soledad looks at Alina and prays/thinks of all the pain Alina had to endure.

Jaime runs into Rosita and Santos as they are walking outside. He tells Rosita that since she is crying she must know the news. What news? The news that Alina is dead. Rosita falls to the ground crying.

Coral lectures Gaspar re: Thelma’s evilness.

Part Two
Lubas back hurts as she walks through the forest. She leans on a tree to rest. The creepy dirty spiritual guys tell her they are going to kill her. She kicks at one of the guys (the ugliest one, the friend of the guy who lost his son) and he flies backward into the swamp. He floats on his back screaming for help. He slowly sinks into the water and away to the depths of the swamp. Luba looks away horrified that the man is gone.
Malena tells Bolo Doc that she is afraid that Don Loco will come looking for Mariana. She is afraid to confront him.
Vera cries to the Singing Aunt about Alinas death. She claims that Luba had something to do with Alinas death.
Don Loco walks into Alinas room to tell Soledad that they have to go. Soledad snaps and tells him that nothing & no one will separate her from her daughter. Don Loco presses and Soledad asks him if he has no heart; to see Alina like this. She tells him that now everythign has changed. He will not be able to dominate her ever again. She will never submit to him again. She is free of him from now and ahead. Loco leaves without a fight but with the promise that she will never be able to liberate herself from him. Soledad tells Alinas body that she wont let Loco control her anymore.
Luba, with the help of Donky/Tonky good little guard doggie, force the other creepy (probably smelly) bad guy into the water. I guess her aura caused him to walk backward into the swamp. She panics seeing him sink at he lies flat on his back in the water. He begs for help. She grabs a stick to pull him out but her back pain has her struggling to help. She holds the stick out for him and he grabs it telling her she will die with him.
Angel touches his painting of Alina and cries.

Vera continues her rant against Luba to the Singing Aunt. She believes that Thelma asked Luba to bewitch Alina. Thelma overhears Veras suspicions and adds to them telling Vera and the aunt that she did ask Luba to do this. She states that she doesnt doubt that Luba and Gaspar had something to do with the death of Alina. Way to go Thelma taking advantage of the servants fears.

Creepy smelly Acaido or whatever his name looses his grip on the stick. He sinks into the swamp where his friend lost his life before him. Luba talks to God that he knows she is not a murderer.
Emilio tells Angel that Don Loco told Soledad it was he who raped Alina. Emilio admits that what he feels bad about is that he didnt believe ALina, that he cant be by her side. Blah Blah Blah.
The Priest goes to Alinas room and tells Soledad that the Chapel is ready for the wake. Emilio has taken care of all the details. Soledad whines some more about why God took her child when she had so much life yet to live.
Santos fills Carmen in on Castullos death and that of Alina.
Granillo worries about Coral. A new whore is told to go dance and she sings the Bonbon Assesino song in a short skirt with a visible thong. Im thinking Chris is having a good time watching this if he is tuned in.

Don Loco finally finds the letter Alfonsia left for him. Meanwhile Alfonsia is packing up under the helpful watch of Sergio. Loco comes into the room and dismisses Sergio. He grabs Alfronsia and asks her if she is trying to blackmail him.

Alina lies on a bed a roses (the alter?) in the Chapel. Candles are lit and everyone is there praying. Emilio walks into the Chapel and goes straight to the alter where Alina is lying. He throws himself over her crying. Big crockodile tears fall down his face as he remembers better times with ALina. The necklace etc. He tells her she is taking everything with her. Boo Hoo.

Thanks for that link to "molcajete" Lynn. That was interesting...better than the actual telenovela which is amateurish...but hey, it's in Spanish and we can always pick up some interesting expressions.

Aiiii! i just made a note to myself if ever i am to drink a bottle of Luba's Prell I will make sure she has the antidote ready AHEAD of time .... it's not ready, no one else knows how to make it, and she doesn't have all the ingredients, and then she decides to have her final fight with the ugly smelly guys ....hey Thelma, can i borrow a cup of herbs?

i really cracked up when Braulio let Ifigy, the RANCH HAND for goodness sake, arrest him (the first guy to get arrested in Stupidville). He walked out like a little puppy that had just peed on the floor, his tail between his legs. Cindy

Yes, Luba is not very organized. It's like when I go to make a cake and realize ...uh-oh, no eggs. However, no one dies if I can't make the cake. Luba is a little spaced out if you ask me. Note to self : Don't drink the Prell unless Luba shows you that she has the COMPLETE, FINISHED antidote sitting on her shelf. Poor planning on your part , Lub. you will never climb that corporate ladder if you do not get your act together. Maybe it's time to invest in a Blackberry and a laptop . I'm beginning to miss Dr. Rick's bowtie and puppet...good times.

Im catching up on this and starting to get this show .Its better then i thought before. Just as long as i stop reading ahead i'll enjoy the last episodes.

Hey maybe Luba shouldnt smoke the funny weed so much. Maybe thats her problem.

Seeing Don Loco and Don Max in their black cowboy hats and black suits made me think for a moment that I had tuned into TVLand inadvertantly and was watching an old episode of Maverick . Slick dudes, for sure.

I'm so glad Tonky/Donkey Good Little Doggie is back. It's no coincidence that things go so much better when he's around. He did a great job snarling viciously. I hope he gets a telenovela premio.

People sure like to lay down and die in this show. Maybe disorganized, stoned Luba put a spell on them, or maybe they got a hold of her pakalolo and got too high, that's why they just let themselves sink to the bottom of the swamp. At least there are no pesky bodies to dispose of like with huge Castulo.

I like Cindy's comment about Luba borrowing herbs from Thelma (the much meaner witch).

I know this sounds terrible, but when the Dr. announced that Duhlina had died I thought Oh Blessed Silence! Now only one whiner (Emilio) to listen to.

I'm still loving the idea of the
Gaspar/Coral hook-up. Don't forget he was one of the early contestants in Bailando so we know he can dance, kind of. At least he's strong enough to not drop Coral on her head like one of her other partners did.

Great recap Lynn! Extra brownie points for the molcahete link. My favorite is the Oinkahete.

Lynn, thanks for the wonderful recap! Geez, a lot happened and the Padre was busy with weddings and funerals, and one more coming with Castulo. You had a chunk with this one! Neat info about the molachete, thanks!

I can’t believe that Thelma confronting Don Loco about HIS heart of stone. Kind of out of character! Probably she’s like Max, just wanting to mess with DL’s mind.

Well, is anyone sorry Castulo is dead? Darn shame that there were witnesses and Braulio is going to pay the consequences (even if he would have done it regardless).

Is anyone sorry the Cacique and his buddy are dead? Maybe Luba will be relieved enough that she can walk this earth again and not have to look over her shoulder all the time that she can live without lots of guilt. After all, she merely shoved the first guy and tried to save the Cacique. I think that should buy some “get out of guilt free” points for her (read that, “get out of jail free”).

“Maybe disorganized, stoned Luba put a spell on them, or maybe they got a hold of her pakalolo and got too high, that's why they just let themselves sink to the bottom of the swamp.” Sylvia, ROTFL! There’s that Kauai influence….I see you picked up the language fast…..

Will Luba have to dig Alina up to give her the antidote? Will she add grave-robbing to her list? Couldn’t help but wonder that as the funeral proceeded…..

Jeanne

OK..so now what happens after the wake? Will they bury Duhlina alive or do an autopsy to find out what "killed" her. *rolls eyes* Never mind. What am I thinking? Yes, Sylvia, the Tonkster is why I keep watching..he is so good looking and very convincing as a guard dog, too. Great recap Lynn. Muchas Gracias.

Jan Z, good point about Alina. Luba had better whip up her antidote and get it to Alina pronto!

No, I'm not sorry Castulo is dead, but I will miss his mindless flexing. I'm not liking the way they keep making the hunks disappear. Jose...gone, the first Hugo...gone, Castulo...gone. If they do anything to Gaspar or the Tonkster I'll be furious.

I'm also glad the Cacique and his buddy are gone. The Cacique is as mean and unreasonable as Don Loco.

Sylvia- "mindless flexing" ....ROTFL!

Jeanne

One of my friends sent me her memories about molcajetes:
"They were used in central California to grind the acorns from the California live oak tree. The live oak was made into a mush in the molcajete. A fire was made. Round stones were heated in the fire. The stones were dropped into tightly woven baskets until water boiled. Acorn "mush" (like "dumplings) was dropped into the boiling water.
I wasn't such a cook as to ask about seasoning then. Believe me, you, that when we tried it, it was bland city." Cindy

I'm not sorry that the Cacique and his sidekick are gone, same with Castulo. They deserved it.
Fat Max! Hahahaha, I like that one!
