La Fea Más Bella #281 5/23/07 Fer serenades himself, beautifully, Lety and Aldo make it formal, Tomy gets a tele, and your recapper goes to Miami to see them in the Flesh!!

Greetings FEA FANS!!!! Tonight I post to you from my Hotel Lobby in Miami where I have just now returned from attending the taping of the La Fea Mas Bella special of Cristina!!!!

Fue magico!! I don’t want to give too much away because it won’t air until after the novella is over, but…… I got to enjoy live and in person Jaime, Angelica, Angelica Maria, Jose Jose, Sergio, his wife and baby, Luis, Augustin, Elizabeth, Julio, Paty, & Niurka!!! Amazing!!! You will love it, as did I!! I need some pinches because I still can’t believe it!! Maybe you’ll see me in the audience when it airs. (I’m not wearing my pink hat though, hats aren’t allowed…) PS In honor of Caray Caray, I told Jaime and Augustin that they have English speaking fans!! They smiled. What beautiful smiles!!

******************

We open with Caro and Omar finally making out. Thank goodness this frustration is about to end!!!

Fer walks into the Padilla compound announces himself and calls around for everyone, anyone? He yells that the door was open. He wonders why no one is there.

At departamento Mora, Tomas is arguing with Alicia about going to the “formal hand asking” party. Alicia doesn’t want to go, but he says Lety and Aldo are his best friends and he can’t miss their special day, and she’s his wife so she has to accompany him. She tells him to go alone. She mentions she is waiting for someone, and can’t go. Just then the doorbell rings and deliverymen show up with a PLASMA TV!!!!

Now most men I know would be frothing at the mouth if their wives bought a 42” plasma, even with the husband’s money. Bless his heart. Not Tomy. He wants to know what it is and where it came from. Alicia snidely tells him, duh a TV and double duh, from a store. She ends up telling him it’s a gift from her Papi after she orders him to tip the guys. Darn, I really want to meet this Papi. Something tells me, though, soon we’ll find the charge appearing on T’s credit card!!! She tells him to hurry up and connect it because he has to go see the Garnacha. I don’t know, but any one whose tried to mess with electronic devices knows that it can end up to be several hours before it’s quite right. I’m wishing Tomy luck with a quick connect!

The cuartel is at the Don Quixote Restaurant. The maitre‘d says that you can have this table here, but that only one person was expected. Sara says we are one person but with six personalities! He says he remembers now that the invitation was only for one person, to which Juana replies, not to worry, we’ll only eat a little. Mr. Colunga will arrive in half an hour. All the cuartel is excited except for Irma. Turns out she is worried about Fer, that he was in really bad shape.

We then go to Fer sitting alone at Lety’s reminiscing about her smile, her perfume, her flavor, and not of life of course, instead, of the enchilada that she gave him. He laments that she is going off now with Domensolin. He then gets an idea to go up to her room. He confirms no one is there.

I guess the kiss turned into more than a kiss as we now flash to a presumably post-coital Omar and Caro. Funny, I didn’t know that one of the side effects of getting it on was a flushed face in the form of perfect make up!! Ugh, and they even emphasized that she wasn’t dressed in the previous scene! I was so pleased that they finally had someone look natural and now this. Oh well. At least they look happy. Omar with his watch still on. Don’t guys usually take that off? I wouldn’t want to be caressed with that thing touching me!!

Flash back to Fer entering Lety’s room, he asks Lety’s permission to enter, and thanks her. He says here is where my Lety sleeps. Before I lose her I’m going to stay a little while with some momentos of her. I would love to touch her dreams. I wish she was here. He moves over to touch her bed then notices that giant seascape. He curses that Aldo has even gotten up here. He says something about being up to nostrils, his or hers, in essence conveying that someone is full of him. He complains about the picture, that he can’t even turn it upside down cause it’s on the wall!!! He says he should write that he loves her and sign right on it. He makes marking motions, but he reminds himself that he promised to leave her alone. He double checks no one is around and notes how much pain he is in.

At T&As Tomy is still begging A to come to the party. She says she won’t go there for anything. He asks her if she doesn’t really care for him, she ignores him in favor of the TV. He tells her if he goes out of this door by himself, he won’t come back. Finally he goes out, then she thinks, what if he really does leave her alone in the street without a TV and a bed, she screams after him, and of course he immediately turns around and runs back in.

Irma is worrying again about Fer, the cuartel wonders what she can do, they suggest she call his cell. He answers, turns out he’s in the Plaza Garibaldi with Mariachis. He says he wants to go somewhere far, maybe Central America, but he will do legitimate work, nothing illegal. She tells him not to do that, he says he’s got no reason to stay here. She tells him to stay there that she wants to accompany (accompagnar) him, but he thinks she said she wants to sing (cantar) with him, and he excitedly tells the groups she’s going to sing with them and he holds up the cell phone. She says no she’s coming there, so don’t move. She tells the cuartel she’s sorry, but she has to go get him. In a rare moment of unselfish solidarity, they decide she shouldn’t go alone and that they will go with her as they beg for Colunga’s forgiveness for flaking on him. Martha makes sure to bring her comida.

We then get a wonderful taste of Fer singing the Vicente Fernandez classic Me canse de rogarle (I’m tired of begging her)

Me canse de rogarle
me canse de decirle
que yo sin ella de pena muero
ya no quiso escucharme
si sus labios se abrieron
fue pa decirme
ya no te quiero
yo senti que mi vida
se perdia en una abismo
profundo y negro
como mi suerte
quise allar el olvido
al estilo jalisco
péro aquellos mariachis
y aquel tequila
me hicieron llorar

Me canse de rogarle
con el llanto en los ojos
alse mi copa y brinde por ella
no podia despreciar
era el ultimo brindis
de una boemio
por una reyna
los mariachis callaron
de mi mano sin fuerza
caya mi copa
sin darme cuenta
ella quiso quedarse
cuando vio mi tristeza
pero ya estaba escrito
que aquella noche
perdiera su amor

We are back at Casa Padilla where suddenly everyone is back home and Aldo and his Pop arrive bearing Champagne. They all want to rush the wedding, except Robo who says that back in his days they waited at least 6 months after proposing. Julieta interjects that in their times, the land was still warm (the earth was forming). Robo Pop thinks it’s a good thing they got the champagne because the last bottle of Cidre that he had somebody drank for the expo celebration and he looks at Aldo very sternly. Aldo tells him not to look at him, Julieta remembers that was when Aldo proclaimed he was in love, but wouldn’t say with who. He says well now you know it’s with the most marvelous woman in the world. Lety. Everyone smiles and laughs.

I think is one of the greatest sequence of scenes ever…..Back at the plaza Fer is pouring tequilitas for all the mariachis, but he is not taking any, he tells them he doesn’t drink and they should drink for him. Just then the cuartel on their emotional rescue mission shows up and wonders if he is ok. He slurs and sways but kids them that he’s not drunk, the maris are drinking for him. The cuartel tries to get him to go back to his house with them. He says no way, the night is young and we have to enjoy it because today Lety told Domensolin that she will marry him. He miraculously pulls plenty caballitos out of his pocket, enough for each of the cuartel, and bids them to drink.

the Mexican poet Alvaro Mutis wrote in “Tequila: Panegyric and Emblem”:

Tequila has no history; there are no anecdotes confirming its birth.
This is how it’s been since the beginning of time, for tequila is a gift from the gods
and they don’t tend to offer fables when bestowing favors.
That is the job of mortals, the children of panic and tradition.

Fer continues that this is the first of many nights of suffering. This suffering is unending. Who suffers, he continues, Domensolin? Nooooo, not him, ME!!!!!

He knows what he should do! Bring a serenade to Lety to say goodbye. They say no. He says yes, what’s better is a song to try and get her back, muchachos. Let’s go to her house. They try to talk him out of it, and he back downs. The mariachis sing “Que seas Feliz” (That you are happy) Some of you may remember this from Apuesta por un Amor sung by Luis Miguel, and covered often by Patty Manterola who ended up in that story with none other than our beloved Juan Soler!!:

Que seas feliz, feliz, feliz
es todo lo que pido
en nuestra despedida
no pudo ser despues
de haberte amado tanto
por todas esas cosas tan absurdas
de la vida.
Siempre podras contar conmigo
no importa donde estes
al fin que ya lo ves
quedamos como amigos.
En vez de despedirnos
con reproche y con llantos
yo que te quise tanto
quiero que seas feliz, feliz, feliz
Siempre podras contar conmigo
no importa donde estes
al fin que ya lo ves
quedamos como amigos.
En vez de despedirnos
con reproche y con llantos
yo que te quise tanto
quiero que seas feliz, feliz, feliz
En vez de despedirnos
con reproche y con llantos
yo que te quise tanto
quiero que seas feliz, feliz, feliz

But not with Domensolin!!!!! He shouts! The cuartel swept up in the moment agree!

Julieta serves what looks like delicious cream and salsa covered stuffed chili peppers, and announces dinner is served. Right on schedule the human vacuums show up to eat their fill. Ali makes nice nice with Lety and ends up telling everyone we shouldn’t waste time talking and we should go to the kitchen to enjoy the lovely dinner because we are hungry, no? Robo remarks that it was bad enough with one greedy gut (Tomas) and now there are two! Funny, I noticed the table set for six, but there are seven people. Hmmm. Maybe they’ll put Alicia out to eat with Moty….

Fer is glad that the cuartel joined him and says he will never forget that they did this. It looks like they are on the march to Lety’s house. The mariachis are singing :

Te vas porque yo quiero que te vayas,
a la hora que yo quiera te detengo;

(You leave because I want you to go, until the moment that I want to stop you...)

Fer stops them and yells at them that they shouldn’t sing about her going, they should be singing about her coming back! He remarks that they must be drunk to be singing such a thing.

Irma begs him again not to do this, that he is just going to hurt her Lety. He says he’s not going to hurt her he’s going to make her happy because with this she’ll know that I love her even more than that fool Domensolin!!! He continues that the whole world show know about this love. The mariachis say they don’t know it, Fer confirms that’s because it’s not a song!

They are now out front of Lety’s Fer is remarking how drunk they must be, they’ve sang these songs hundreds of times. He tells them to sing well, that this is the woman of his life. Do is Do and Re is Re. He tells them to begin, Irma rushes up to stop him and he tells them to wait for him. This happens again when Martha rushes up to tell him that Lety is really happy with Aldo. He tries to entice her to eat something. He decides that he should sing again “I’m tired of begging you” and he tries to start the mariachis again. The cuartel stop them this time. The mariachi comes over and tells him not to be like this and just decide. He says indeed, ok, you should stop then. He pays them for their time and sends them on their way, but quietly he asks. As they leave they loudly start playing again which of course irritates everyone.

The cuartel tell Don Fer that they are there for him and they want him to be ok and that he is their hero. He tells them he will be alright and he thanks themand so one by one they take their leave, and take the opportunity to kis and hug him goodbye. Some more than others, like Juana and Sara who practically knock him over squeezing him to death. I died laughing during this entire parade. Really I think this was one of the best ever!!

Inside Ali asks for more food. Lety asks if they will get married at the beach. Everyone thinks that’s great. Tomas thinks of course because the sea is Aldo’s life. He corrects that Lety is his life. Tomy says yes, like Ali is my life and the woman that fits him. Ali says no none of that, she thinks it would fit better for her to be with Aldo and Tomas to be with Lety, that would go better. Lety says no, actually opposites attract, and those that are the same repel. Tomas agrees it’s all physics, so a Feo belongs with a bella.

Sadness has caught up again with Fer who now sits alone on the front stoop. He is scrawling something on the sidewalk and mumbles to himself that maybe he should leave her a message here, but it’s the only way he has to show her how much he cares.

Bozo returns. She and Mar are having a heart to heart. Bozo thinks it would be great if she and Fer were together not just as siblings, but married. Mar assures her that she is fine about everything and she’s gotten over all that. Teri hopes Fer gets his happiness too. Mar says he will, you’ll see. She begins to rehas the telvision project and how her son is going to be the star.

Just then Fer walks in and wonders what his Mom is doing in this part of town. She wants to know more from him about his tele debut. He remarks how the gossip flies and refuses to tell her anything that it is a surprise, that it’s something different. He essentially tells her to go home to her humble house and not worry about it and he says good night. Teri tells Mar that she is going to come to the business tomorrow because she doesn’t like that he is being do mysterious about this.

Everyone leaves the Padillas. Aldo remarks that his Dad probably had the best time of anyone. Julieta says that they are going up to bed now and Robo agrees, but after Aldo leaves. Juli tries to persuade him to go now and let them say goodbye as they like. He says fine we’ll go now but he gives Lety 2 ½ minutes to get up to her room.

Aldo asks her if she’s sure that she loves and wants to marry him she says yes and then Lety and he kiss. Robo yells down to make sure that she comes up like she’s supposed to.

We finally go back to Omar and Caro, and Omar is leaving and doesn’t want her to fix anything because he thinks it’s best if he goes home to get some sleep because he has a lot of work tomorrow. She says that’s right tomorrow begins the filming of the program with Aurora. He says Aurora a couple of times and then says that he actually forgot about that. Caro is surprised but glad. They say long goodbyes very happily and think of each other and they fade off.

Back at Casa Padilla Lety and Aldo wander out to say their goodbyes only to find Fer’s message on the side walk. “Lety I wish you much happiness” Lety is clueless, but Aldo is much more cynical. He knows right away it’s Fer and not someone who lives in the colonia and he’s not happy. Lety wants to know why does it always have to be Fer?

Aldo tells her of course it’s him, it’s always him trying to blackmail you. He knows we are inside talking about our wedding date and plans and so the orphan of love has to be out here writing this stuff. She doesn’t understand why he’s so mad. She doesn’t think he tries to black mail her. Aldo wonders then why didn’t he come in and congratulate us to our faces, of course he’s blackmailing you. Lety says she doesn’t care and isn’t interested and he says how can you not be interested in someone blackmailing you and we close with a wickedly angry face of Aldo staring at us like Jack Nicholson in the Shining.

Dum Da Dum Dum Dum…are the tables turning?????

Thanks for the recap! You're so lucky to have been at the taping. I'm so jealous. You must tell us what happened during commercial breaks during the taping, if not now, then after the show airs. Did anyone else from here happen to go to the taping as well?

Esther

Thanks for the recap, K. I'm so excited to hear you went to the taping and told Fern and Omar of our fan club here. I wish I could have gone but I'm sure I would not have understood anything and just stared at Jaime and Agustin and waved at Angelica and her mom. Like Esther said, when its appropriate please do tell us all about it!!

I too enjoyed Fern with the cuartel. They were great scenes and quite funny. The fact they left meeting Colunga to rescue him almost redeems their ridiculous behavior.

Aldo looks like his becoming like Rodrigo from Destinlando Amor (loco y celoso). Interesting (read ironic) he described what Fernie was doing as blackmail as many of us thought that's what he did to Lety.

Karen

Thanks for this great recap, done from a hotel room! What dedication!

Seriously, you are so lucky to have gone to that taping, and you must tell us more about it when you can. How did you get tickets for the most important (at least to us) show of the year?

I loved this episode too. The mariachi scenes were magical. Fernando's singing was really very good. And finally we got to see cracks in Aldo's new-age love-everyone exterior.

I just want to know why Lety and her Mom were wearing costumes stolen from Paul Revere and the Raiders.

Alicia's new jewelry $$$$
Alicia's new plasma tv $$$
Alicia having dinner at Lety's house- $PRICELESS !!!

Do Not compare Rod (yeh, he is really really dumb, but he has human fraility) with Aldo (I have never liked Aldo...like that is a big secret) as someone said Aldo is the guy at work that you act like you like cause he is so darn nice, but every sentence he says is some small put down...some little one ups-man-ship, he is the only one with all the answers...I have known AssHats like that my whole life (whoops wow this is about me, oh well I am shallow)...
Since Aldo came on he has used subtle ways to control every situation..ie
winning over the cuartel
manipulating Tomas
decorating Lety's office with reminders of the sea
the parents...
always standing next to Lety as a barrier between she and Fer...

He did not control Fer asking Lety to marry and instead he ran away and acted all broken hearted..with the OMG, I sold everything for you...

I never never never trust the selfless ones...there was only one Mother Theresa.

Now K...thanks for the recap..did cristina have on her trademark..poncho?

Fantastic, joyous recap - you remind me that we all used to love this show. Congrats for seeing the taping, don't forget to remind us when to watch!

Last night it crossed my mind that May 23 was the Christina taping. I'm so glad you got to attend, K, it's great to have an ambassador there to bring us the news.
The cuartel was sweet to Fernando last night and I loved the mariachis. I'd be happy with a Fern singing episode, "Don F. Sings of Love and Heartbreak."
Alicia really is a pig, isn't she? Just when you feel a little sorry for her, she goes way over the line. I hope there's some karmic payback coming to her. Tomas acts idiotic, but he's a mostly honest guy at heart. Don Erasmo was funny with the deeply disgusted looks he gave her.
NinaK, I almost choked laughing when I read the "Paul Revere and the Raiders" costumes. Spot on.
I don't mean to be obsessive about Caro's makeup, but she looked just fine with her natural look when Omar came in the door. Then they're undressed in bed and she's wearing her standard dark eyeshadow. So what's the deal? Is Omar that great of a lover or did she sneak into the bathroom and slap on some makeup? A definite lapse in continuity, but why should that surprise me? There've been other moments of confusion in this show.
Aldo was getting all freaky over the sidewalk chalk. Now, if he can get pushed over the edge when the Aurora mystery is revealed, Lety can give him back the Crackerjack ring with a clear conscience.

Wow, that is very cool that you got to watch the Christina taping. I'm so very excited for you and for Caray Caray! Imagine, we actually had an ambassador at the show. I can't wait to hear the inside scoop when the time is right. Wonderful recap, thanks for all the extras.

Thanks so much K!

I wondered if you were close to the actors or made your comment from a distance as part of the audience?

Great recap!
Carrie L.

Wow, Kris. I don't think I would have been able to recap after going to THE Cristina taping of a lifetime. Thank you! You also succeeded in making the episode sound a lot more interesting than how I remember it.

Bozo really surprised me last night. I can't believe she's still whining about Marcia and Fern being splitsville. You know, Mama Bozo, some people prefer to marry outside the family. ;)

And I'm so glad that Aldo got so ugly last night. Sometimes, he'll do something that's a little bit nice, and then I feel guilty for disliking him so much. But then he gets all jealous and controlling again, and ahhh, all is as it should be once again.

You are so lucky K to see the Cristina taping. I can't wait to see it and hear more about it. YOU GO GIRL!

Crackerjack ring, HA, good one.

I am glad Fern wasn't drunk. I did like his sininging though that was cute and funny. I liked the part when they the mariachies were singing "te vas porque yo quiero que te vayas" and Fern got mad at them. I was cracking up.

I did not like the Aldo jealous scene. I thought was rude. I mean its not like Lety changed her mind about him at any point so why the jealousy. If Lety didn't say yes to Aldo or not said "mi amor" a gazzilion times letting us know how much she loves him then I would understand not I am okay with jealousy but it woulda made more sense.

How can Aldo possibly say Fernando is blackmailing Lety? What??????? It was him who used guilt to get Lety to choose him over Aldo. I think Aldo sees others through his own motives and actions. If Fernando had come into the party, Aldo would have been even more upset. Aldo seems to always be smiling and rubbing Fernando's nose in his loss and lording it over him. I can't believe he called Fernando the orphan of love. What a jerk! I would like not only to see Aldo go back to the sea, but pushed into the sea.

How wonderful is serenading and why don't we have more in this country? It is so romantic to have mariachis serenade someone-- much better than flowers or candy.

I was actually kind of annoyed with the cuartel for leaving the 'Colunga' dinner because they felt sorry for Fern. Altho I love Ferni to death, it just seemed like typical self-sacrificing, chicas! And they wanted to go to that dinner so much! That's definitely the kind of thing you look back on later and kick yourself for!

Julie, I cracked up at your comment to Bozo that, "some people prefer to marry outside the family". Right on.

K, It is so cool you got to go see our stars. It makes it all more real somehow, almost as if these characters do have real lives since you saw them in person. How fun!

Thanks for the recap after your exciting day! Can't you tell us a little more about the taping without revealing the novela's end?
Like, what was Jaime wearing, who did he sit by, is he as cute in person, etc.

Would have liked to have Fer sing a entire song. I wondered if "Seas Feliz" was used as a in-joke, given that it was the theme song for Apuesta w/ Juan Soler?

Could not believe how upset Aldo was about Fer's sidewalk writing.
I was glad to see Lety stand up to him, for once, but I was disappointed that she truly seemed to believe what she was telling Aldo, that she loves him, not Fer.
Grrrr.
And telling her mom later that she is sure of her decision to marry Aldo. What an idiot Lety's become.
I'm hoping it was just the champage talkin'.

anon - noticed the Caro eye makeup apres sex. Quite a good trick.

Thanks for the great recap! Lucky you, it must have been wonderful to see Lety and Fern in person.

I knew it wouldn't happen, but wouldn't it have been funny if, during the scenes with Fern and the cuartel outside Lety's house, they would have cut to Fernando Colunga having dinner by himself in that restaurant?

Absolutely loved the comment about Paul Revere and the Raiders!

Thanks for the recap, K! The Cristina show must have been great. Thanks for telling Jaime and Augustin about their English speaking fans. They smiled. Oh, how sweet.
Did anyone think that Colunga was going to make a cameo on this show? I am not familiar with him, but I thought I might see the guy. Seems like kind of a tease to me. And, yes, Ellen, cutting to Colunga eating alone in the restaurant would have been funny. Too much to ask from TPTB on this show! Caro and Omar make a hot couple! I hope it works out. The make up on afterwards cracked me up. She looked fine without, don’t know why they did that. Plus, after having some fun fooling around with Omar, her makeup would have been all messed up anyway. : ) But this is TV. The Paul Revere outfits, that was funny and accurate. Beckster, AMEN to your comments. The blackmail comment--unreal. Uh, no, AssHat, you are the blackmailer, Mr. I sold everything so you could be free. Blech!! Stalker chic needs to come back and take Domensolin off our hands. I believe Aldo would have a lot of respect for someone who knows how to stalk after what they want.

Teresa

Cheli, I'm with you. The Colunga dinner wouldn't have taken very long, and they still could have visited with our Ferni afterwards.

More importantly - we could have seen Colunga. :)

Ellen - brilliant idea about Colunga eating alone at the resturant. And ITA Julie - any opportunity to see him is great.

Though I'm not an Aldo fan, his psychotic moment takes him out of the running for a potential person for Marcia, who has become quite fun. I wonder who Marcia will get?

I guess we are supposed to believe Lety is having second thoughts about her "choice" b/c of the expression on her face at the close of last night. Well if Aldo was screaming blackmail last night (again no sir that was you), can you imagine what he'll do when Aurora is revealed?

...to see Jaime and Agustin live and in person...WOW

Karen

WOW! I really wanted to go to Miami but it is too close to Paris and I can't afford two long flights ;-( One question about the taping - are Agustin's hands as big in real life as they appear on TV? In the Tuesday episode when he and Caro were in the cafe and he held her hand hers just disappeared into those mitts of his.

I though the make up was another continuity lapse but missed seeing his watch. And I thought there were 5 place settings at the table not 6 and they would have needed 7 anyway. I have a tendency to catch odd things like that when I watch novelas. Also Aldo accidently bumped into his father when he was walking over to grab Lety. He has to keep that leash short.

The Mariachi scenes were great fun and some pretty good music as well. But Aldo is a psycho to go off on Lety over chalk marks on the street. Obviously he was built up to be mister nice guy, sweet, polite yada, yada, yada and now we have to tear him down and show him for the possessive control freak a lot of us have always thought him to be.

Loved the Omar/Caro parting scene it was like he didn't want to go but is so confused he doesn't know which way to turn.

Bozo still thinks she live in the backwoods of Kentucky forcing kinfolk to marry. It will be interesting to see her at the taping and we can compare that red orange hair dye both she and Aurora use.

Mercifully we were spared anymore of Tomy whining about his sex life. Yuck!

You told Jamie and Agustin they had English speaking fans LOL more like fanatics. I'm looking for a good picture of Agustin to add to my I-Pod along with Jamie's.

Caro and Omar are just adorable together ana at least we have an interesting couple to watch instead of Aldo and the future Stepford Wife. Where is stalker girl when we need her.

I thought that there was an awful quick cut from Fern sitting on Lety's bed in an empty house and then suddenly popping up with the mariachi's. I was wondering if he was going to leave her a secret little note.

Well looks like we are really getting close to the end with previews for two new shows. I'm guessing that the one with Eduardo Santamarino will replace LFMB and Tropico replace one of the afternoon shows.

johanna

I had heard that Yo Amor a Juan Querendon was a comedy and it does look like LFMB's replacement however, I just check the cast list and a synopsis of the characters and if it is a comedy it will only be because of grossly inept acting.

Tropico is slated to begin June 4 which puts it in the afternoon and in addition to El Puma the female lead is Scarlet Ortiz. This novela is Dominican and entirely filmed in the Dominican Republic.

I suppose Caro's new eye makeup after a roll in the hay isn't too implausible. In my very young and insecure days I would sometimes go put makeup on in the morning and then go back to bed. A woman once told me her husband had never seen her without her makeup and they had been married for years.

I wouldn't mind being Fernando's secretary if I knew I would get a good night kiss from him! I'd also like to hear him sing more (and maybe singing from the two Angelicas as well). I've heard them all on youtube and enjoyed.

-Toni-

Hey all, just able to check back in. I'll tell you a little about the show. First, thanks to Michelle the commenter for joining me here in Miami and thanks to you all for your enthusiasm. It's great to be able to share this with all of you. Just wish more of you could have been here too!

Second, the very first thing I noticed at the show was how stunning in person Angelica Vale is. She looked amazing and is really so beautiful. Cristina, of course, wore one of her beautiful ponchos, and she's not the only one! (just a small appetizer of what's to come) The other thing I noticed is how much all the actors look the same in person as on TV. I took that as a testament to the fact that Mexican TV does not retouch them tons or filter or airbrush or otherwise digitize or enhance their appearance too much. They are all as or more beautiful in person as on TV!

Jose Jose is a riot. Angelica Maria is adorable. And I forgot to mention that my favorite character also appeared, but I will leave that as a teaser as well.

I did not check Augustin's hands, I was too busy watching his lovely face!!!

During the commercial breaks Jaime, Angelica Maria, Luis and Augustin, (and Angelica icha a little) wandered around to greet the audience. It was during one of these breaks when Jaime brought Augustin around to "introduce" him, that I talked to them in English very briefly to catch their attention and told them they have English speaking fans that love them! I was in the audience because you are not allowed to move from your seat, but they were only a few feet away. I wish I had the opportunity to plug us a little more, but it was just a little chaotic as you can imagine everyone wants their attention, so I was grateful for the time I had.

They did give special recognition to the Fea Mas Bella Club (feamasbellaonline.tk) because they had 35 people here from various parts of the world and threw an event the night before which Paty, Augustin, and some one else attended (and are sponsored by Univision...). Some of them also attended the finale in Mexico and provided some ideas for that last show. I think they may have gotten to meet some of the actors afterwards, but, alas I was not wearing the signature white shirt and jeans and just couldn't blend in enough to sneak away with them.

I should have written a card or letter to hand to someone to explain everything that we do, but did not think of all this. I was just stoked to be there!

You will love this Cristina show, it will be a great event after the let down of the fact that the telenovela is over. They revealed nothing really about what happens in the end so I still don't know anything about the future, although I have an inkling, obviously. Anyway, it was a great time and I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity at all to be here!!

Jeanne:
thanks for your Monday comment encouragement - I got a good landlord&landlady
(I gave what-the-landlord-is-like priority over what-the-apartment-is-like -- finally wise-ing up.)

I'm thankful for these recaps since I can't see lfmb eps anymore. One of the libr machines over in the corner has java script (I whizzed round looking them all over) so I've srounged some youtube clips to watch for a few minutes so I can keep within a day or two of you. bestIcando - I've sent my money order off to get all the disks so in a few weeks I'll start seeing the whole thing -- If I look at 15 min/day it'll last me three years or so.

Fabulous you gave me a feel for what to expect and it is nice to know that these people seem to be nice in person not the hoity toity snots we so often see in our own entertainers.

Laughed out loud about not noticing Agustin's hands because you were focused on his beautiful face. That would be me as well.
Did they give you any hint of when the show would be aired. i know it it usually the Monday after the Grande Fin but I'm dying of curiosity.

Terri

Thanks so much K!
I couldn't imagine what it would be like to be only a few feet away from Fern and Omar!!!!! Oh my gosh, I don't think I could stand it!

I too was surprised by the cut off of Fern in Lety's room. What happened???
Did he just leave suddenly?
All of a sudden he was with the musicians?
Sometimes on this show we just have to fill in the empty spots with our imagination, I suppose.
It's very frustrating.

I too thought it was stupid of the cuartel to leave the restaurant. Maybe let Irmita go but there's no way I would have left and given up the chance to meet Colunga.
Fern would have still been there in an hour or so.
I thought just maybe Colunga would have a quick spot but it looked like no way.

Carrie L.

I don't know Carrie, he might still show up because it seems to me I read that he made a cameo appearance. In any event I don't much either way because I'm not a fan of his and never have been going back to his novela. In a way the poor man probably got a break not having to deal with the loud, annoying cuartel. I cringe thinking of how they would act.

Thank you for this terrific summary, especially for the lyrics - lovely!
And thank you for reporting on the Christina taping. It's an exciting day here at Caray! Caray!

From where did you order the LFMB dvd's? I'm interested in purchasing them.

Thanks so much for posting that additional info about the show. How wonderful. Imagine being near Jaime Camil! I am having palpitations just thinking about the excitement of how you described the whole show. I think I have a guess about your favorite character, but I won't spoil the surprise.

OMG 'a few feet away' from Jaime! I would have floated out of the studio after that kind of experience. Thank you so much for the great recap and sharing your visit to the Cristina show. Can't wait to hear more. I hope that includes finding out that Jaime sang a song on the show!

K, it's awesome that you got to go. I have to admit I'm a little jealous!

About the ending of the show, did anyone else's episode end like four minutes after the mean Aldo face? Mine did and I don't know if that was just a local thing.

That was so funny a look of Jack Nicholson in "The Shining". SOOOO funny. He looked totally psychotic. Maybe that is why his wife left him. He has a suddenly violent temper and that look could scare a pitt bull. On a lighter note. I have been staying away from the program and listening to the talks afterwards. When it is good, I play what was taped; otherwise I don't. Can't bare to watch lety and aldo. It is sickening. Their kisses are like sister and brothers. If I soul search to find something good about Ocampy which is hard to do, but may I can come up with "she is trying to spare us some of our anxiety about lety being with him, by only letting us see that they kiss, since they are engaged; yet nothing passionate like lety and fern did. What are you thoughts on that.

Mine too. The made up and started laughing...

I can't feel sorry for O'Campo and the ratings dip this show took after the extension. She basically turned a charming and interesting character into a brain dead dolt who fawns all over a smug, babbling, pain in the rear. Thank God we still have Fern/Omar and Omar/Caro and even a new improved Marcia to focus our attention on.

Just looked at tonight's previews again and Aurora's face when she sees the Fern character. Do you think he painted on a mustache or heavy eyebrows to let her know the game is up?

I LOVED this episode, and am glad i taped it (for once in the last several months)! Jaime was adorable, and the cuartel was actually tolerable when they came to his "rescue". I heart Irmita! and laughed when juanita and sara tried to smooch don fernando more than once. I also wondered at the poor continuity, which happens daily on this show. it would never fly in the US, that's for sure.

I was watching an episode from a few weeks ago, when Luigi was upset because all the actors refused to sign on to the proyecto, script unseen, and Angelica said "this is gravisimo" and Luigi said, "this isn't grave, it's gravisimo" and Angelica laughed because she said his line and he repeated it, and the directors left it in there! ah LFMB, how I will miss your goofy ways.

Just an FYI, for LFMB fans who live in the Los Angeles area: Novela Day - June 9.
Show your love for your favorite telenovela (Spanish-language soap opera) stars at Six Flags Magic Mountain on Saturday, June 9. Join Jaime Camil, Lorena Herrera and Raul Magana for a hot, hot, hot concert at 3 p.m. in Golden Bear Theater.

I'm not sure about tickets, but here is the link:

Jaime does have a tendency to not show up at events, like this, but it was confirmed by his web team, per jaimecamil.com.

cheers!

I thought this episode was mainly filler with very bad (total lack of ?) editing. The Omar-Caro story line was great despite the obvious make-up discontinuity. However the Fernando breaking & entering parts followed by the Mariachi wanna-be and side-walk artist parts were disjointed and plain weird. Like most of us, I just can't take much of Alicia/Tomas now-a-days and I get so tired of the Cuartel except for Irmita.

I'm not normally this critical of LFMB episodes but this one could have been SO much better condensed to just 15 minutes!

LAURA

Mine didn't cut off after the Jack Nicholson face, it went on for another few minutes. A car drove by with a couple that were coming from their wedding (Just Married sign, cans tied to the back) and rolled right over Fernando's message, so Lety and Aldo took it as a sign and made up (mush, mush, mush, giggle, kiss, more mush). Lety went into her room where Mama was waiting. She tells Lety it's hard to choose between two good men who love you. She asks if Lety knows what she wants and Lety says she's making mistakes in a lot of stuff EXCEPT deciding to marry Aldo, but when Mama leaves Lety has a doubtful look on her face.

Liz- If you want to order the LFMB DVD's go to this site: http://www.novelasrus.com/

They aren't cheap and don't have any subtitles but they will include every episode rather than a condensed version likely to be put out later.

Regarding the Fern in Lety's bedroom scene. I thought for sure he was going to open the trunk and find the red wig or something to confirm his suspicions. I too was disappointed they cut away from it with no explanation.

K- thanks for filling us in on the Christina show. can't wait to see it.

Wow, Kris, this is impressive! A fabulous recap AND you were at the taping....and you did the recap from the hotel. Little do Jaime and Agustin really know how fanatic their English-speaking fans are....Thanks!!! Wish I could have been there, but it's graduation week.
