What Pilar used to look like before she looked like an alien. She already looked botoxed, though. Back then, they used airbrushes.

Martha Roth (Pilar) was born in 1932, in Padua Italy. I couldn't find a fan club site but here are a couple pictures of her way back when.

Wow, she was really a looker! (No "eye" pun intended!)

Whoa! the picture on the left looks like my Mom's college graduation portrait. They are almost identical, the dress, the hair, the eyes. Maybe I should post a picture of Mom now to show what she should look like now....

Marg. in Minnesota

She's really got that heavily-plucked then drawn-in eyebrow thing going on. She was very beautiful.

Marg, you're funny. I'd love to see what Pilar should look like without all that frightful plastic surgery.

Wow! Very pretty. In the one on the left, her eyes remind me of Sara Maldonado.

Is she only 75 ??? She looks older to me. I think that's what happens to people who have lots and lots of nips and tucks...after a while they actually start looking older than if they had just aged naturally ,,,not to mention looking unreal...and not being able to move their facial features to show any emotions . So, do you think Emiliooo has had some nip and tuck work done ??? ^^^Susanlynn, remembering what a 16 year old student told her when she was 26 in regards to growing older : ''Consider the alternative.'' [he meant death..not plastic surgery]

Thanks for the picture Melinama. Your student was very wise Susanlynn. Plastic surgery for television and film stars seems almost mandatory for women but after you've had too many visits you can't show expression in your face which is what actor/actresses do. It is best to age gracefully and pray your genes hold up for the long run.

I have erased a spoiler comment and will continue to do so. I don't allow negative comments on actors' personal lives because it spoils the shows for me and for our readers. Please respect the NO SPOILERS rule.

No difference talking about character's plastic surgery,as that's very personal and none of anyone's business here than something noted from Telemundo.Such hypocrisy.

Anonymous 3:53, if you think I'm a hypocrite, feel free to read your recaps elsewhere. I'm doing the best I can.

The picture on the left reminds me of 1950's Elizabeth Taylor with the eyebrows and short hairstyle.

Melinama - !Órale! Like your style!

Excuse me, but stars have plastic surgery to change the way they look for their public, which is us. Cosmetic surgery is part of their public life so it's fair game for our comments.

But even though public figures must accept a good amount of exposure they are still entitled to have some sort of private life. This is the aspect that we wish to respect at Caray, Caray. Also, too much "reality" tends to spoil the fun of what we do here. So why is it hypocritical to comment on some over-the-top plastic surgery while at the same time not wishing to discuss someone's sexual preference or most recent trip to rehab? Answer = it's not!!

Anonymous 3:53, in the future please be more thoughtful before rudely insulting our Blog Mom, our blog, and us.

I agree. We comment on the faces we see in our novelas. That's quite different from discussing what these actors do on their personal time.

It appears that her high forehead flattered her striking eyes. Now her hairdo covers most of her forehead and makes her eyes look even bigger. Since her eyebrows can move (I noticed tonight) I wonder why she is wearing such an unflattering hairstyle.

I would like to know wherer you found those photographs, Melinama. The woman has hardly a reference and NO pictures that I could Google up.

I googled "martha roth" and found them. Have you by chance got your search engine programmed to bring up only results in English?

Wow! She was beautiful! Why do they think that they shouldn't get old??? I noticed that she has a lot of trouble blinking! Her eyes are too big now!

You know, I agree with Sylvia and Julie. These actors choose to have this surgery and they do so to "look better". But it depends on the surgeon they use. (Look at Joan Rivers, Michael Jackson, Burt Renolds) They look so scarey now. What they don't realize is that their faces aren't "normal" looking anymore.-Becky T

It also bothers me that, with so much plastic surgery, the concept of "normal" is starting to vanish. It is now "normal" for skinny starlets to have large, hard breasts. It is now "normal" for old people to have huge, tightly stretched-out eyes (I just read there's a huge increase in "dry eye" syndrome among people who've had plastic surgery because they can't close their eyes completely any more!!!!) It's going to start to seem strange when people let their faces age naturally...

15 comments and nothing about the Destilano Amor. It appears that the comments for this soap opera area is just a group of people that like to discuss the stars and it has nothing to do with the soap.I am disappointed. I hoped to get feedback on last nights' show.

Anon. 12:00. These comments are about the PICTURES and not about the novela. Those recaps will be printed WHEN the recappers (who don't get paid to do them, by the way) have TIME to recap them!

As my teenaged daughter says...duh-duh!!!!!-Becky T, a little miffed, because I appreciate all the recappers!

Anonymous 12:00, I am confused by your complaint. The recap for last night's "Destilando" was posted last night and is concurrently receiving comments. I had it up less than an hour after the show ended! Is that not fast enough for you? You can find all the recaps in the left sidebar.
