La Fea Más Bella #299-300 6/25/07 La Fea Mas Bella puts out it's light after over a year, but the star will always burn bright in our hearts (and one in particular-TAN DIVINO!)
And, another tag team recap awaits you, from our wonderful, wonderful, blogging team, who through 4 time zones bonded in a chat room together through all the various airings of the show until the bitter end in the West. Realize this lasted over 7 hours, from 7pm EST to 2am EST, from when Julie started watching the rerun hour to when I finished watching Cristina out here in Pacific. Please know how devoted and what true fans of this program they are. All this to enjoy the finale, and to bring you the best recap ever!! We really hope you enjoy, and we will miss you all profoundly!!!!!
Alma starts us off:
Another board meeting is called. Fernando apologizes to his family and everyone else for nearly running the company into the ground. Then he presents the last of the loan payments to Aldo, who’s looking dapper in an off-white suit. Fern gives his thanks to everyone, especially Lety, who also looks very cool in a nice off white jacket. He walks to Lety and gives her a hug, but it’s cut short by Aldo’s curt objection of “hey, hey, hey.”
We go to Monterrey, to some sort of outdoor venue, maybe a futbol field.. Luigi is directing a commercial for family adoption. He instructs a young man, a woman, and a little girl on how to behave like a family.
It seems that Sarah is onsite to assist Luigi. She’s on a cell phone, and there is a cute little ragamuffin, about 10 years old, who is tugging at her shirt [ok, he’s not really a ragamuffin, but he should be, for dramatic effect, ya know?].
Luigi continues to instruct the little familia about their commercial. He tells them they can’t have children naturally, and the reason doesn’t matter. Then they are made aware of the “Family Solidarity” program which will help them begin a family. Luigi is excited about this public service announcement he is helping to bring to the Mexican masses.
The ragamuffin continues to distract Sarah as she tries to talk on the phone. They make faces at each other.
Back at the meeting, Don Humbo thanks Lety for all her hard work and wishes her the best of luck. Lety then thanks them too… thanks for the opportunity, yadda yadda yadda, this is the best company ever, yadda yadda. Lastly she thanks her pop for believing in her. Robopop in turn tells her how proud he is of her. He tells Humbo, “You see, I told you my kid wouldn’t screw you over!” [except he uses professional accountant lingo].
Humbo tells Lety that Concepts will always leave its doors open for her. Lety says that won’t be necessary, since going forward she will enjoy life living by the sea, at the side of the man she loves. Fern adds that’s assuming Aldo doesn’t make her flip burgers.
Luigi finishes his commercial shoot and yells “cut!” He’s sure everyone will want to form a family now. Omar tells Luigi what a great job he did, then turns to give Caro a big hug and a very sweet kiss.
Sarah and the ragamuffin kid around. They get along so well that he asks her is she would you like to adopt him.
The meeting continues. Mama Bozo says Fern has proven himself, and he is ready to take control of the company again. Fern says thanks but no thanks. He concedes that he almost took the company to ruins, so he thinks that it should go to someone who truly loves it and can do a better job. Ariel agrees and starts to thank Fern for realizing this! Fern says “Not so fast” and clarifies that he’s not referring to Ariel, but rather to Marcia. Marcia is impactada but happy. She agrees to take the helms but says she’ll need Fern’s help. Fern is suddenly disheartened. He says he can’t stay because being at Conceptos will always remind him of what he lost. A close-up of Lety tells us this is worrisome for her.
Luigi films the ragamuffin in a commercial. Ohhhh, now we can see that the boy is here to be in a commercial for the big Monterrey project [though I’m not sure why they had to shoot it in a futbol field]. Anyway, Irma and Sarah watch him. He's a natural in front of the camera. Irma asks Sarah if she’s sure. Sarah responds that she is sure that she wants to adopt him. She reasons that he’s a great kid; he’s a little punk, but he’s great. Irma gives Sarah her blessing and claims dibs on being the abuela (grandma).
Lety calls Marcia into her office. Lety says she has something for the new company prez. She gives Marcia her company ID [not sure how this will be of use to Marcia, since it has Lety’s name and picture on it]. Marcia thanks Lety profusely and sincerely. Marcia thanks Lety for the lessons she taught her, which are to appreciate everyone; to be a strong woman; to always look forward; to enjoy life; and the most important lesson, that the inside is what’s most important. She asks Lety to forgive her for all the vicious, relentless, torturous crap she put Lety through. But Lety says there is nothing to forgive, she’s just happy that a woman will be in charge of Conceptos. Nice bonding moment.
In the Vortex of Stupidity & Idiotic Inanity, Lola calls for Juana, who is in the ladies’ room, or otherwise out of camera range. Lola explains to Martha that she and Juana have a waxing appointment at a place Lety recommended. Martha suddenly looks sad. She’s worried about Fern, because he seemed so dejected. She decides that she doesn’t care if Lola calls her a gossip for it, but she needs to go see how Fern is doing.
Martha goes to see Don Fern, who is packing is office equipment and desk accessories [a.k.a. his toys]. She says it’s not fair, and that he should stay here with the people who love him. Fern says he can’t stay because he’ll die of sadness here. He asks her to call the airline and reserve a flight to Rio de Jainero. She asks him to think about it some more first. Fern thanks Martha for everything, even for the juicy gossip. She cries and they hug. She says she can’t stand to see him leave. Fern tries to compliment her on her weight loss, but it’s too late, as she’s already run away crying. A signature single tear rolls down Fern’s cheek.
Tomas vents to Lobo about his Chiquita Alicia. He regrets not consoling her ad letting her leave. Lobo asks if Tom knows where she is. Tom says he doesn’t. Lobo says maybe he knows.
Fern leaves the building. Outside on the lawn, Lety catches up to him. She can’t believe he was going to leave without saying goodbye. Fern says he couldn’t bear to say goodbye to her. Furthermore, he’s not sure he can contain himself from saying, or yelling… She stops him from finishing his sentence. He says that there is something he’s been wanting to do since that first big fight he had with Aldo. He yells “I WANT THE WHOLE WORLD TO KNOW THAT I LOVE LETICIA PADILLA SOLIS!” This seems to grant bring him great relief. He closes his eyes and sighs. Lety stares intently, though slightly confused about how to respond.
Aldo goes to look for Lety in her office. Seeing that she is not there, he walks into Fern’s open cubby hole office and finds his journal still on the desk. He grabs the journal, thinks for a moment, then walks out with it.
Outside, Fern says he realizes that he’s lost her forever. His only consolation is that he knows she’ll be happy. He wants her to promise him that she will be happy. She tells him to stop talking about it. He falls silent and begins to walk away. She grabs his hand and pulls him back. Fern sadly bids Lety farewell with “hasta nunca” (until never). Lety, in a slight panic, says “No, don’t say that.” They hug tenderly. He breaks from her and walks away in slow motion, leaving Lety staring after him.
Aldo walks up to Lety. She tries to apologize for what he just saw. Aldo shows her the book and asks her if she knows what it is. She says it’s Fern’s journal. Aldo says that it’s Fern’s journal, in which he declares over and over how much he loves Lety. Lety is taken aback to think that Aldo has been reading the journal. Aldo says he didn’t read it, because he knows word-for-word what’s written, as if he’d written it himself. He explains that he and Fern both love Lety with the same intensity. He asks her to read it, because it’s very important. She opens it and reads “I feel so bad because Lety, my Lety, has announced that she is officially Aldo’s girlfriend. I must resign myself to having lost her forever.”
Lety stops reading. With a tear running down her face, she says the she was very angry when Fern read her diary, so it’s not right that she do the same to him. Aldo calmly says that is not important right now; the only important thing now is what she feels after what she just read. He asks her what she plans to do now. She says she will return the journal and pretend she never read it. He clarifies that what he meant is, he wants to know how she feels. She admits that she feels terrible knowing that Fern is suffering. Reading his words is like hearing him weep, and that is painful for her.
Aldo says that in this world, what we need to do is cure suffering. He says he saw their embrace when they were saying goodbye, and that that embrace meant more than she knows. He says deep down she knows that as well. Lety says that yes, she knows that Fern loves her. Aldo points out that they’ve known that for quite some time. What he wants to know is how she feels. Lety hesitates, then asks if they can stop talking about this, for the sake of peace. Aldo says that if it’s peace they are looking for, then they must dig for the truth. Still cool as a cucumber, he asks her if she is worried about being honest because of her commitment to him. She admits she is. He tells not to be afraid of her feelings. She asks his forgiveness and confesses that she is deeply in love with Fern. For some reason, this makes Aldo smile. Lety says she wants to cancel the engagement. He says of course, but with one caveat, she must promise to be immensely happy with Fern.
Lety smiles as she turns away in the direction that Fern left. She thanks Aldo over and over. She turns back to him to thank him again, but Aldo is gone. Lety looks around and calls for him, but he’s disappeared. She is confused for a moment, but then calls for Don Fern instead. He’s long gone, but she calls out “Fernando, I want all of Conceptos to know that I love you!”

Tomás gets out of a taxi and asks "A panteón? Why did Paco send me to a panteón?" (a mausoleum) He salutes a bust of "Don Pedro". Alicia is at a gravesite decorated with the brightest flowers…orange, red, yellow, pink, purple, white…it's covered in flowers. She says: "Dad, there are men who don't fit in death--that is to say, death is too small for them--and you're one of them. Even though you're not physically here, you keep teaching me. I only just now realized I've spent 10 years, let's say, talking to you via cell phone. I love you, Dad. You'll always be my dad, my teacher. Thanks, Dad; thanks, Teach. You left and I was so alone. I couldn't accept that I no longer had anyone, that no one was taking care of me. But look, what things, right? Now, after so long, I had an experience that helped me accept your death and my sad reality. Dad, someone fell in love with me. Imagine it! And I didn't know how to appreciate it. But now Tomás showed me that he really loves me, because I did something really bad, yes, and he took the blame to protect me. I love him so much, dad, so much…" As Alicia has been talking, we see that the picture of her dad is that of Sergio Jimenez, the original director of LFMB (gracias, Sergio). Tomás has heard almost her entire speech and now interrupts: "Alicia…" Alicia: "Tomás!" T: "You see, I was right when I called you Chiquita, you're like a little unprotected girl. The most important thing in life to me is to be with you. I want you to give me the chance to take care of you, to protect you, to love you…" A: "Does this mean…?" T: "Shhh, Chiquita, it's all forgotten. Love means never having to say you're sorry." A: "Thank you, Tomy. I love you." Awwww, that's a really sweet kiss. And a beautiful scene. (Oh, ok, except for the "never having to say you're sorry" thing, that was a little cliché, but just go with it.)
At the Bachelor Pad, aka The Bachelor/ette Pad, aka Casa Compañia de Tres, and now Casa Marcia: Marcia invites Lety in. Lety apologizes, but she's looking for Fernando. She wants to talk to him because she needs to tell him…"Doña Marcia, I'm very much in love with him!" Marcia is surprised. "Aren't you going to marry Aldo anymore," she asks. Lety replies, "He understood me and he himself got me to make the decision because, because I, the truth is I never would have cancelled that wedding, Marcia, I didn't dare." Lety has the grace to look a little ashamed of herself here (and well she should! Bad girl! Now go make it right). Marcia: "You have no idea how much I would love to see Fernando happy. I think he paid tears of blood with all the pain we caused him." Lety: "Why do you say 'would love to'?" Marcia: "You took too long to realize you love Fernando. He left, Lety. See how ironic life is? So much suffering, you and I, we fought so much over him that in the end he's neither for you or for me." Lety: "Do you think that he would reject me?" Marcia (impatient): "Fernando left, Lety!" Lety: "Okay, he left, but where to?" Marcia picks up a note from the coffee table: "Look, when I got home to pack my suitcase to go to Monterrey I found this note." She hands the note to Lety. Lety cries as she hears Don Fernando reading his note to Marcia: "Marcia, I would have liked to leave my pain and my frustrations here, but I can't find a way to rip them from my soul. At best I'll come back one day when I can smile again. And that will happen only if I can manage to forget Leticia. Good luck, Marcia, be really happy and enjoy life for both of us. I love you. Your brother, Fernando." Lety lowers the note, looks at Marcia, and starts to speak, but Marcia takes her hands to stop her: "No, Lety, I have no idea where Fernando is, and I don't think anyone knows." She gently, sadly brushes Lety's face with the back of her hand. Awwww, nice how the girls are getting along now, no?
The Moras stroll along a tree-lined lane, arm in arm. Alicia is carrying a bouquet of long-stemmed red roses. Tomás is carrying her beaded clutch. Tomás marvels that if anyone had told him that one day he would be so, so happy by her side, he wouldn't have believed them. "Alicia Ferreira de Mora, I love you!" "Tomás Mora de Ferreira, me too." (But she says it all serious and sincere.) Tomás laughs with happiness. ("Is she good now?" my husband asks. "As in, she's not going to go around randomly embezzling money? Yeah, I think so," I reply.) "What happiness!" Tomás says. "And there's still more," Alicia says as she grins coquettishly. "What?" Tomás asks. "Well, there could be two little surprises…." "Two little surprises," Tomás muses, as though he's trying to guess what they might be. Alicia leans close and whispers in his ear, "You're going to be a daddy!" It takes Tomás a minute for that to sink in and then he lets loose a grito (a yell, specifically of the type one hears during mariachi songs; catch me when I've had too much to drink some time and I'll do one for you).
Tomás and Alicia return triumphantly to the maternal home. The noble and long-suffering Tomasa is preparing the dough for that day's bread. "Mother," calls Tomás, "come here!" "What has happened, my little dog ear?" asks Doña Tomasa as Tomás hugs her and swings her around. Tomás, in his joy, takes her hands and dances as he asks, "What is your greatest hope in life?" "No!" says Tomasa, "Don't tell me!" "Yes!" Tomás proclaims as he hoists her in his arms, "You will be a grandmother! I will be a father! And my Chiquita will be a mother!" He puts her down and Doña Tomasa, in the grand tradition of the Moras, goes to Alicia and grants her the blessing of anointing her cheeks with the sacred flour as was done of old. Alicia, not understanding the significance of this ancient rite, brushes the flour from her cheeks as Doña Tomasa embraces her son. The three join in a group hug as Alicia tells her mother-in-law that she is also happy to be bearing her a grandchild. To complete the ritual, Tomás and Alicia make a Tomasa sandwich as Tomás sings "Grandmother Tomasa."
Lety returns to Conceptos and the Bat Cave. "Don Fernando, tan divino," Lety says sadly. Awwwww, my last DFTD. *sob* "So many things we lived through here, in this little office. And now, we'll never see each other again. Never." She cries softly, and my heart leaps as the door opens. It's Marta, come to tell her maniguis she saw her arrive and she needs to speak with her. "Lety," she says, "if you knew what Don Fernando is suffering, we would cry together like Mary Magdalene, I swear. Lety, Don Fernando loves you, I swear he loves you." Lety: "Yes, Marta." Marta: "But you're in love with…" she can't say it. "No, I'm not marrying Aldo, Marta." Marta: "That's great news, Lety!" (! Times about 1,000) Lety: "Well, no, it's not good news because Don Fernando already left and no one knows where he's gone." Nu-uh! "He's at the airport! He asked me to get him some tickets to Rio de Janeiro!" See, that's why you should always make friends with administrative staff…they know everything! "Some tickets or one ticket," Lety asks. "One!" Marta exclaims. Lety: "What time does the plane leave?" Marta looks at her watch and panics because the plane is leaving, like, now, and Lety's gotta move it. Lety's busting a move and Marta tells her she's got to move it on out the door, not in the Bat Cave! Marta offers San Jorge a torta, presumable for Lety to make it to the airport on time. I hope he likes tortas, but then, who doesn't?
Julieta is packing her suitcase and telling Erasmo that it's so great that they're getting to go to Monterrey. Erasmo agrees, but unenthusiastically. Julieta asks what's up with him. He says, "Nothing. Well, you know, our girl's getting married and as much as I try to get used to the idea…" He is interrupted by the ringing phone and Julieta laughs at him, saying, "ay, my love." She answers the phone as dramatic music plays. "Lety? What's wrong? I don't understand. You're not going to marry Aldo?" Erasmo's mouth drops open (oh, we got a shot of his fillings…that wasn't well thought out!). "But what do you mean you're going to the airport, hija?"
We see Fernando at the airport, holding his ticket. We hear that Flight 540 to Rio is boarding now at Gate 38. Fernando moves slowly toward his gate.
Lety arrives at the airport with both her parents following anxiously. Erasmo says Lety hasn't told him anything concrete and asks why she cancelled the wedding with Aldo. Julieta tells him not to bother Lety. "It's simple dad," Lety says, "I cancelled it because I'm in love with Don Fernando Mendiola." Erasmo: "What? What game is this? What's this 'I'm getting married/I'm not getting married/Aldo/Fernando'? What's going on?" Dude, haven't you been paying attention? The counter agent arrives and Lety asks if the flight for Rio has left yet. In the great tradition of dramatic airport scenes, the desperation with which one is looking for information is directly proportional to the slowness with which the person one is asking for information finds said information. "Rio de Janeiro?" Erasmo asks, but is silenced by Julieta and Lety. The agent says the flight is taking off as they speak. "He's gone," Lety says, "Fernando has left."
Back at Conceptos, Marta is pacing nervously and making Celso anxious. Looks like the two of them are the only ones who haven't left for Monterrey. Celso asks if she thinks Lety caught Don Fernando and Marta replies that if she hasn't, she isn't going to because the plane left 10 minutes ago. She declares that she can't take it anymore and reaches for the phone. See, this is how we know Marta's changed for good, she didn't reach for a snack instead. Celso wonders who she's calling. She tells "Maniguito" it's better to prevent than lament and she knows someone who can help, but he should pray it works.
Fernando is squished into a coach seat next to some woman looking at him pityingly. "Goodbye, Mexico. Goodbye forever," Fernando says. The captain comes over the comm: "Good afternoon, this is Captain Ortiz speaking from the cabin. We have reached our cruising altitude of 33,000 feet. We're flying southwest toward Chiapas and from there to…" he's interrupted by interference. "Did the pilot's microphone break," Fernando wonders aloud to the woman next to him. The captain comes back on: "Excuse me, I have a message for Mr. Fernando Mendiola, I repeat, Fernando Mendiola." Fernando, surprised, looks at the woman next to him and says, "It's for me!" "Is your name Fernando?" asks the woman. "Yes, nice to meet you…it's for me! What could it be?" says Fernando. Captain: "This message is sent by Mrs. Marta Hurtado de Muñoz, from the Cuartel de las Feas." This gets a laugh from the passengers. The captain continues: "She tells us that Leticia Padilla Solis is not going to marry Aldo Domensain." "What!" Fernando screams. Captain: "Leticia Padilla Solis loves you, Don Fernando. I repeat, she loves you." The woman sitting next to Fernando, standing in for much of the viewing audience, practically smothers him with her congratulatory hug. "Thanks," he says, "but I've gotta get off this plane!" They're sitting in an emergency exit row and he reaches for the handle, freaking out his fellow passengers. (I'm so glad stuff like this never happens to me on flights! But I digress.) He tries running for the back of the plane, but is blocked by several passengers. "Okay, okay, I won't try to get off, but don't touch me, you're making me nervous…I'm getting off this plane!" The woman who was sitting next to him gets him to sit down and asks him to calm down. He says he's calm, but he has one question of a technical nature…"How do you get the door open?" This sets the other passengers to screaming again as he says he's got to get off the plane. The flight attendant tells him to control himself, he can't open the door. "Miss, are you deaf? Didn't you hear the pilot? I have to get off the plane and go back to Mexico and tell Lety I love her too! Because she's not marrying Aldo, caray!" The flight attendant and the smotherer try to calm Fernando down again.
Erasmo tells Julieta he doesn't like to see her like this. Julieta says that it's not possible that their daughter has suffered so much for nothing. She's not marrying Aldo and now Don Fernando is on his way to Brazil. "Can you imagine what she's suffering, Erasmo?" "I understand, Julieta, but we have to think that sooner or later, Lety will find true love." J: "Lety's true love is Fernando, he always was, and now she's lost him forever."
Lety is at the hotel where she and Fernando first made love. She sits on the bed and calls herself stupid for letting him go. "Don Fernando left. Why did he leave? He was here with me." She puts her hand on the comforter and as Ricardo Montaner's "Besame" plays, she remembers that night with Don Fernando. Hot! We see another hand approach hers on the bed. Lety looks up, surprised, as Don Fernando says "Are you thinking I'm just a memory, Lety?" "Yes, just a memory," she says as she touches his face. He takes her hand and kisses it. "And this kiss too?" "Then, Don Fernando, love isn't a dream? You're here with me?" "I don't know why I felt you'd be here, where you and I first made love." They spring apart and then realize they're being silly. "Yes, I remember," Lety says, "It was my birthday that day. And today's your birthday, Don Fernando." "It is, isn't it? Lety, I want to be with you for the rest of my days and the rest of my life and…of course, if you want me." "Yes, Don Fernando, I accept!" Fernando and Lety kiss, not like the hot kiss with Aurora, but sweetly. They look into each others' eyes, smiling, crying, and kiss again. Night has fallen over el DF.
Adios, Fea fans. It's been a pleasure, and I hope you've enjoyed it as much as I have!

Julieta and Erasmo sit quietly at the table, waiting for news. Julieta gives one hand to Erasmo and wipes the tears from her face with the other. Lety comes home, with Fernando scrunched down behind her. Julieta asks for a report. "What happened?"
"Hardly anything," Lety replies in her Lety-voice. Fernando jumps up from behind Lety like the world's hottest Jack-in-the-box. Julieta is still gaping as he falls into her arms! Catching sight of Erasmo's disapproving face, Fern backs off quickly. Lety tries to break the news, but Fernando interrupts. I guess he wants to do it by the book! "Doña Julieta!" (in a quieter voice:) "Don Erasmo... if you will permit me, and even if you won't, eh? I'm going to marry your daughter!" He gives Lety a big squeeze. Julieta looks delighted, as expected. Erasmo looks pissed, as usual! He steps forward and moves Lety aside (a bit roughly) to confront Fernando.
Fernando picks up some random knickknack in self defense. "Leave my things in their places," Erasmo says. "Do you want to repeat what you just said?"
"Don Fernando!" mother and daughter cry in alarm.
"That I am going to marry your daughter," Fernando says.
Erasmo turns to Lety with his arms crossed. "Is that what you want?" "With all my heart, Papa." Fernando whimpers nervously as Erasmo turns back to him, his arms still crossed. "OK, Don Fernando. You can marry my daughter!" He sends what looks like it'll be a roundhouse punch towards Fernando, but it's actually just an open hand for shaking. Fernando shakes the hand quickly and then picks Erasmo up and whirls him around! "This is such a happy moment!" Julieta adds, needlessly.
"I promise, I promise Don Erasmo, that I am going to make your daughter very happy. I promise!" Fernando still has his arms around Erasmo and is kissing his shoulder. Erasmo is still stunned and can only grudgingly acknowledge Fern.
Julieta reminds them of the airplane. Didn't Fern take it? Erasmo wiggles loose of Fernando's grasp and repeats the question. Preparing them for a long story, Fern asks them to sit down.
They all take seats at the table. Fern sits in Lety's usual seat, and Lety tries to sit there too, out of habit. They spring apart with the last booooooing sound effect of the series. Fern jumps out of the chair and beings to explain what happened.
"The plane took off, Don Erasmo." Fernando is pantomiming some of the action. Lety, seated in front of him, can't see him but somehow goes through the same motions. "And when it did, I thought we were already over Chiapas."
Fern and Erasmo get sidetracked by some nonsense that I don't get. Julieta brings Fern back to the story. "So anyway, Martha made a call to the pilot." ("Can I talk to the pilot?" Lety asks her telephone-hand, mimicking Martha's voice.) "Then suddenly we hear the pilot's voice."
We flash back to Fernando on the plane. There's the pilot, saying "We've been told that Leticia Padilla Solis is not going to marry Aldo DomensaEEN." Fern gapes. "¿¿QUE??"
"And as you would guess, I went a little crazy," Fern tells his future in-laws. Back to the flashback: Fernando is grabbing at the emergency exit. Everyone is screaming and trying to pull him away from it. He tries to explain that they don't need to alter their course. He'll put on a parachute, open the door, he'll go and they can continue on to Rio.
The pilot comes out to see what is going on. (Does anyone recognize this guy? That is, is this a notable cameo of some sort?) Fern tells him that Leticia Padilla Solis is the love of his life, He thought she was going to marry that jer-, uh, that fry coo-, er, Aldo DomensaEEn, I thought she was going to marry him, but no!"
Everyone on the plane is listening raptly. The pilot takes off his big sunglasses and says, "But Leticia decided not to marry Aldo because..."
Fernando asks the woman next to him to help him out of his seatbelt. (It's okay, she's a flight attendant, she's specially qualified to do this!) He gets into the aisle to make his dramatic plea. "You know why she's not getting married to Aldo? Because she loves ME, in fact we love each other. We love each other like idiots, like maniacs. We love each other like no one else in the world."
"So, if you can't land on the ocean for Lety, you're ready to jump out of the plane, right?" He sits in Fernando's abandoned seat and seems to be performing some type of negotiation technique. "Wow, you're intuitive," Fernando replies sarcastically. "Are you a relative of Omar Carvajal?"
"I don't know if this was explained to you, Mr. Mendiola, but we're 33,000 feet high. We can't open the door now."
"I beg of you, please, ask me, what do you want me to do, I'll slash my wrists, I'll do whatever you say." One of the many smitten female passengers has a better suggestion: they can turn the plane around and go back to the DF! Everyone agrees and cheers their support!
Coming out of the flashback, Fern mentions that during this chat, no one was flying the plane, and they almost got killed. That wasn't so funny. They told the pilot and he ran back to the cabin and righted the plane. (Lety makes a helpful sound effect and accompanying gesture.)
"Incredible! And so romantic!" Julieta sighs. "Love can do everything." Fernando shuffles over to Lety's parents and the three of them grin cutely at Lety. "Your daughter is so pretty, huh?" He shuffles back to Lety and hugs and kisses her in front of her parents. (Already they have shown more affection than Lety & Aldo ever did.)
Meanwhile, Alicia is happily sprinkling lime juice over a big mound of fried food with one hand and stuffing her face with the other. (Don't worry, she's being very ladylike as always.) Tomas hurries to her with another plate and she thanks him profusely. He hugs her and she doesn't call him a pervert, or anything. They begin to watch the early news and Alicia suddenly cries out in pain, clutching her stomach. Tomy panics and offers to call a doctor.
Alicia explains that the baby wants churros! If he doesn't go get her some churros, little Pancracito or Alicita will be born with a churro-face! Tomy whines that his kids will be even uglier than himself, Alicia takes his hand and tells him he's not ugly. "No, not ugly. Horrible!" Tomy jokes. They laugh and snort together. Tomy agrees to go for the churros. She tells him he's the most marvelous man on the face of the earth. She tries to kiss him, and he backs away, saying he'll go get the churros, and later they'll have time for that other stuff.
After Tomy leaves, Alicia says "I can't live without him. My Tomy, he makes me so happy."
The senior Mendiolas are now at the Padilla home. (It might be one of the signs of the Apocalypse.) Bozo says they're very confused. Humberto says they thought Lety was going to marry Aldo. Bozo asks, so how is it that you called us and said that you're going to marry her? Lety and Fern exchange mischievous glances. Fern says it's a long story, but the important thing is that they're going to get married.
This seems to satisfy Bozo, who strikes me as someone who doesn't do well with long stories. She wants to organize a huge wedding. Humberto says they're going to need time to send invites to all their friends. Bozo figures about 400 of them. It'll have to be a place that's worthy of the Mendiolas. (The Padillas looks somewhat left in the dust by this conversation.) Humberto says he's going to have to order champagne and French wines, And how about lobster?
"One moment, please!" Erasmo interrupts. "As far as I know, it's the father of the bride who has to pay for the celebration. Isn't that so?" Humberto protests about his 400 friends. Erasmo says he can't pay for a party with 400 guests, much less all this champagne, etc. Julieta sits him down. Bozo says they just want to make the day special for the kids. But Julieta agrees with Erasmo that she doesn't want a big wingding. They don't need to invite 400 people and serve caviar
Fern says he's thinking of something. He has an idea, which he whispers into Lety's ear. She giggles her approval. "Everyone in the world is in Monterrey, right? And they lent the cathedral to YOU, right? Not to either one of your boyfriends? And they don't care who you show up with?" ("Why not?" Lety asks, frowning. Fern indicates that he's glad she's showing up with him.) Anyway, it'd decided that they'll marry in Monterrey. (I don't even know why they needed to discuss this, I thought it was a given.)
Lety's parents agree. Fernando's parents agree. As Julieta hugs Fern's parents, Lety and Fernando prepare to kiss. Erasmo sticks his face between them to congratulate his daughter. They kiss him instead. Fernando asks Erasmo to tell them a story about his uncle Lazaro.
Now we're at the wedding. Celso is wearing a fancy outfit and performing head usher duties.
Psychic Guy Jorge Flores is there, telling some kids (presumably orphans) that happiness exists and God made them to be happy.
Octavio the Tricky Guapo is asking Marcia if Lety is going to marry Aldo DomensaEEn, the famous chef. Marcia coyly says no, she's not marrying him.
Tomy is telling Alicia how pretty she is. (She's wearing maybe the lowest-cut thing I've ever seen her in, but it doesn't look so bad without the crazy corset.) She reminds him that beauty is on the inside, and that's why she loves him. They laugh and kiss, then share a synchronized snort.
Omar is remarking to Carolina what a pretty wedding it is; Caro says theirs will be even prettier because it will be in a forest.
The cuartel are all in pink. Lopez is telling Sara that he remembers his wedding, a long time ago. "Very long time," Sara mutters. "Do you remember, my love?" Paco asks Martha. PM, who looks great with normal-looking hair, says something about finally getting to have those "tortolitos" (finger sandwiches?). Irmita crosses herself and says how much she would have liked it if Fernando could have married their Lety. Martha tells them to have faith - maybe a miracle can happen. Lola says "No more surprises! It never ends, it never ends!" (I read that the actress who played Juana was in the hospital when they shot this, having some kind of procedure done. I couldn't understand what the article was saying. If anyone knows, please comment!)
A Rolls convertible comes around the corner, to much applause. Inside are Lety and her mother. (I thought I saw Moty too, but it was just a bouquet.) Everyone cheers for Lety as Erasmo helps her out of the car. Luigi comes up and congratulates her on her beauty and perfection. He asks about her contact lenses, for which we were probably spared a product placement ad. She says they feel great and she can see perfectly. With a deep bow, Erasmo thanks Luigi for designing Lety's beautiful dress, hair, makeup, etc. Luigi whips the crowd up in noisy applause for Lety.
People start wondering where the groom is. Just then, Fern speeds up in his car. He says he got lost because he doesn't know his way around Monterrey. He jokes that Aldo got sick, so Fern is going to take his place. (I take it it's not considered bad luck in Mexico for the groom to see the bride in her dress before the wedding.) Everyone seems to approve of their being together. Fern calls for Martha and asks her for a hug. More applause.
Fernando explains to Martha that if it hadn't been for her call and a crazy passenger named Nuria Vasquez (I guess she's the woman who suggested that the pilot turn the plane around), he would not have gotten there. "Fernando, you know that your happiness is my happiness!" Martha tells him.
Marcia comes up to congratulate the happy couple and wish them well. She tells them that their wedding gives her so much joy; she loves both of them so much. Fern and Lety thank and kiss her. Marcia leads the crowd in another cheer for the couple.
"Lety, let's get married, no?"
"Let's get married."
Tomasita, who's been pointing her camera everywhere all morning, sits on the ground in front of them for a shot.
The church bell tolls, and that's the end of my segment.

And AMANDA:
Dramatic music plays while Aldo rises out of the sea like the Greek god that he is He emerges, his sexy white legs streaming out of his daisy dukes. In his arms Aldo clutches a small boy against his naked chest. How could Lety ever have let this guy go? Aldo gently sets the boy on the beach and prepares to do CPR.
The scene flashes back to earlier in the day. The boy yells out for his father. He heads toward the ocean and tells asks his father why he left. The boy says that he is going to look for his father in the ocean. The boy goes into the ocean and a wave swallows his small body. Hopefully, they used a stunt boy.
Lety’s ex begins to give the boy CPR. Despite Aldo’s best efforts, the boy does not revive. Aldo looks helplessly to the sky. His eyes plead for help from above.
The camera flashes to a shot of the Monterrey Cathedral. The future newlyweds cross themselves in preparation for the wedding mass. They kneel at the altar and the ceremony begins. Fernando, who I believe suffers from ADD, looks away from the priest and toward a painting to the left of the altar. He nudges Lety and gets her to look at the painting. In the most perfect novela twist ever, it’s a portrait of Aldo.*** The painting is a beautiful rendition of Aldo in robes smiling down at the couple. It makes sense. The word angel begins with an A and Aldo’s name begins with a name. It’s like destiny! I totally love it! This must be why Aldo and Fernando survived the motorcycle jump. The angel’s hand brought they safely down on fluffly clouds! Lety and Fernando look at the painting, impactados.
We return to the beach. Aldo has given up on CPR. He shakes the small boy, desperate for him to wake. This appears to work; the boy coughs. The boy asks for his father. Aldo the angel, frightened that the boy might turn and get a glance up the shorts, rescues the boy again by scooping him up into Aldo’s arms. He softly places the boy on the rocks. Aldo asks the boy if he has anyone. The boy again asks his angel about the boy’s parents. Aldo replies by asking the boy what happened to them. The boy responds that they went into the ocean and did not return. Aldo asks if the boy has anyone. The young one says that he’s having trouble breathing. Aldo pulls the boy to his chest, willing his own breath into the boy. Aldo wisely whispers to the boy that that the ocean will always be his friend.
The boy, inspired by Aldo’s words, plays in the surf with our angel. Dramatic music plays while Aldo swings the boy around. The pair share a few moments of pure joy. Aldo has found his new charge. Lety smiles and says that it’s Aldo; he’s an angel. Fernando spitefully says that in a way he’s like a pigeon. They both look at the photo and smile. Aldo happily peers down at them and silently gives his blessing.
The priest asks if there is anyone who wants to object to the wedding. Fernando and Lety nervously stand and look at everyone in the cathedral. No one objects, so they kneel back at the altar. The priest continues the ceremony. Fernando whispers to Lety that no one is opposing they’re wedding. Lety replies that nobody can oppose their happiness. The instrumental version of Besame plays while the ceremony continues.
The ceremony is over and we finally get to see that kiss we’ve so desperately waited for so many months. Ricardo Montaner’s version of Besame begins to play. Everyone applauds. Oh wait, Mr. Montaner is there, serenading the newlyweds. They proceed down the aisle, followed by the family. Everyone exits the church. The newlywed couple emerges and is showered with white rose pedals. Ricardo continues to sing to an empty church.
Lety and Fernando pause outside of the church and turn to each other. F (using the usted form) – “Lety I promise that I’m going to love you for all my life.” L (usted) – Don Fernando, I promise to make you happy for my entire life. I love you, Don Fernando.” F – “Don Fernando?” L (switching to tu) – “I love you, Fernando.” F (using tu) – “I love you, Lety.” They kiss again and everyone cheers. They kiss for a really, really long time.Besame continues and the parade starts. The entire cast drives around the streets of Monterrey in convertibles. What a nice gift for all the fans! Next, they play the “Club de las Feas” and continue with the parade footage.
The song finishes while the camera pans to the massive stage for the concert. An announcer greets all the friends to the grand finale of La Fea Mas Bella. The cast does a curtain call type greeting to the crowd. Jaime and Angelica, still in their wedding attire, perform “Tu Belleza es un Misterio” together. Next, Camila performs “Todo Cambio”At the concert, Alicia and Tomas sneak up on Luigi. Tomas asks for Fernando. Luigi wants to know why they want Fernando. Alicia says that she and Tomas bought him an expensive gift. Luigi asks what the gift is. Alicia says that it’s a hug. Tomas adds they got a key ring from Monterrey for the keys to their new house. I guess Teresita and Humberto took care of their son after all. Luigi sarcastically comments that the gift must have cost a lot. Tomas doesn’t care and again asks for Lety and Fernando. Luigi says that he doesn’t know. Someone was waiting for them and they…
Are totally getting it on! Lety removes the veil in one swoop. They dance around the room for a while and smile at each other like teenagers in love. They kiss and Fernando goes straight for the zipper. Within seconds, there’s nakedness and kisses. Camila continues to sing.

Omar says that he wants to give Fernando some tips. *wink, wink* Luigi replies that he doesn’t think Fernando needs them. Caro asks if they think that Lety and Fernando are… No one gets it so she just says that she thinks they need to be left alone. Luigi agrees because he thinks they’re already… Omar does one last snort to imply that they’re making love. Luigi thinks so; they’ve had crazy hormones for a while now. Everyone starts to leave, but Luigi asks them not to leave him alone. They leave anyway. Luigi mumbles to himself about men.
During the Reik song, we get to see some more Fernando & Lety lovin. Something about the part where he grips her face and you can see his wedding band gets me. It gets me right here. [Striking my chest] **sniffle, sniffle** Fernando got his girl. **sniffle, sniffle** In the last scene we see the lovers, Fernando laying on top of Lety while she kisses his neck. He smiles.
***Disclaimer: This is purely a rant of my own, please feel to agree with me: Seriously, the thing with Aldo as an angel sucked! That is the worst novela cop out ever! Remember the thing in Herdidas where the bad woman turned into a dove? That looks like pure genius compared to this!!! Who though of this crap? Angel’s do not wear Daisy Dukes, have Farrah Fawcett hair, improperly give CPR (duh, check for breath sounds first), and try to steal women from their true loves!! I hated it! The worst thing is, that poor boy is going to have to listen to months of months of Aldo’s voodoo new age wannabe crap! Ugghhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can we kiss Aldo’s ass a little more please? In 5ft’s words “That’s a four cheese blend right there!”
Well, this is good-bye. We love you all and have enjoyed re-capping for you! Now I must leave and cram my too white legs into some Daisy Dukes and exercise my first amendment right to free speech by protesting in front of Televisa studios.
Alma starts us off:
Another board meeting is called. Fernando apologizes to his family and everyone else for nearly running the company into the ground. Then he presents the last of the loan payments to Aldo, who’s looking dapper in an off-white suit. Fern gives his thanks to everyone, especially Lety, who also looks very cool in a nice off white jacket. He walks to Lety and gives her a hug, but it’s cut short by Aldo’s curt objection of “hey, hey, hey.”
We go to Monterrey, to some sort of outdoor venue, maybe a futbol field.. Luigi is directing a commercial for family adoption. He instructs a young man, a woman, and a little girl on how to behave like a family.
It seems that Sarah is onsite to assist Luigi. She’s on a cell phone, and there is a cute little ragamuffin, about 10 years old, who is tugging at her shirt [ok, he’s not really a ragamuffin, but he should be, for dramatic effect, ya know?].
Luigi continues to instruct the little familia about their commercial. He tells them they can’t have children naturally, and the reason doesn’t matter. Then they are made aware of the “Family Solidarity” program which will help them begin a family. Luigi is excited about this public service announcement he is helping to bring to the Mexican masses.
The ragamuffin continues to distract Sarah as she tries to talk on the phone. They make faces at each other.
Back at the meeting, Don Humbo thanks Lety for all her hard work and wishes her the best of luck. Lety then thanks them too… thanks for the opportunity, yadda yadda yadda, this is the best company ever, yadda yadda. Lastly she thanks her pop for believing in her. Robopop in turn tells her how proud he is of her. He tells Humbo, “You see, I told you my kid wouldn’t screw you over!” [except he uses professional accountant lingo].
Humbo tells Lety that Concepts will always leave its doors open for her. Lety says that won’t be necessary, since going forward she will enjoy life living by the sea, at the side of the man she loves. Fern adds that’s assuming Aldo doesn’t make her flip burgers.
Luigi finishes his commercial shoot and yells “cut!” He’s sure everyone will want to form a family now. Omar tells Luigi what a great job he did, then turns to give Caro a big hug and a very sweet kiss.
Sarah and the ragamuffin kid around. They get along so well that he asks her is she would you like to adopt him.
The meeting continues. Mama Bozo says Fern has proven himself, and he is ready to take control of the company again. Fern says thanks but no thanks. He concedes that he almost took the company to ruins, so he thinks that it should go to someone who truly loves it and can do a better job. Ariel agrees and starts to thank Fern for realizing this! Fern says “Not so fast” and clarifies that he’s not referring to Ariel, but rather to Marcia. Marcia is impactada but happy. She agrees to take the helms but says she’ll need Fern’s help. Fern is suddenly disheartened. He says he can’t stay because being at Conceptos will always remind him of what he lost. A close-up of Lety tells us this is worrisome for her.
Luigi films the ragamuffin in a commercial. Ohhhh, now we can see that the boy is here to be in a commercial for the big Monterrey project [though I’m not sure why they had to shoot it in a futbol field]. Anyway, Irma and Sarah watch him. He's a natural in front of the camera. Irma asks Sarah if she’s sure. Sarah responds that she is sure that she wants to adopt him. She reasons that he’s a great kid; he’s a little punk, but he’s great. Irma gives Sarah her blessing and claims dibs on being the abuela (grandma).
Lety calls Marcia into her office. Lety says she has something for the new company prez. She gives Marcia her company ID [not sure how this will be of use to Marcia, since it has Lety’s name and picture on it]. Marcia thanks Lety profusely and sincerely. Marcia thanks Lety for the lessons she taught her, which are to appreciate everyone; to be a strong woman; to always look forward; to enjoy life; and the most important lesson, that the inside is what’s most important. She asks Lety to forgive her for all the vicious, relentless, torturous crap she put Lety through. But Lety says there is nothing to forgive, she’s just happy that a woman will be in charge of Conceptos. Nice bonding moment.
In the Vortex of Stupidity & Idiotic Inanity, Lola calls for Juana, who is in the ladies’ room, or otherwise out of camera range. Lola explains to Martha that she and Juana have a waxing appointment at a place Lety recommended. Martha suddenly looks sad. She’s worried about Fern, because he seemed so dejected. She decides that she doesn’t care if Lola calls her a gossip for it, but she needs to go see how Fern is doing.
Martha goes to see Don Fern, who is packing is office equipment and desk accessories [a.k.a. his toys]. She says it’s not fair, and that he should stay here with the people who love him. Fern says he can’t stay because he’ll die of sadness here. He asks her to call the airline and reserve a flight to Rio de Jainero. She asks him to think about it some more first. Fern thanks Martha for everything, even for the juicy gossip. She cries and they hug. She says she can’t stand to see him leave. Fern tries to compliment her on her weight loss, but it’s too late, as she’s already run away crying. A signature single tear rolls down Fern’s cheek.
Tomas vents to Lobo about his Chiquita Alicia. He regrets not consoling her ad letting her leave. Lobo asks if Tom knows where she is. Tom says he doesn’t. Lobo says maybe he knows.
Fern leaves the building. Outside on the lawn, Lety catches up to him. She can’t believe he was going to leave without saying goodbye. Fern says he couldn’t bear to say goodbye to her. Furthermore, he’s not sure he can contain himself from saying, or yelling… She stops him from finishing his sentence. He says that there is something he’s been wanting to do since that first big fight he had with Aldo. He yells “I WANT THE WHOLE WORLD TO KNOW THAT I LOVE LETICIA PADILLA SOLIS!” This seems to grant bring him great relief. He closes his eyes and sighs. Lety stares intently, though slightly confused about how to respond.
Aldo goes to look for Lety in her office. Seeing that she is not there, he walks into Fern’s open cubby hole office and finds his journal still on the desk. He grabs the journal, thinks for a moment, then walks out with it.
Outside, Fern says he realizes that he’s lost her forever. His only consolation is that he knows she’ll be happy. He wants her to promise him that she will be happy. She tells him to stop talking about it. He falls silent and begins to walk away. She grabs his hand and pulls him back. Fern sadly bids Lety farewell with “hasta nunca” (until never). Lety, in a slight panic, says “No, don’t say that.” They hug tenderly. He breaks from her and walks away in slow motion, leaving Lety staring after him.
Aldo walks up to Lety. She tries to apologize for what he just saw. Aldo shows her the book and asks her if she knows what it is. She says it’s Fern’s journal. Aldo says that it’s Fern’s journal, in which he declares over and over how much he loves Lety. Lety is taken aback to think that Aldo has been reading the journal. Aldo says he didn’t read it, because he knows word-for-word what’s written, as if he’d written it himself. He explains that he and Fern both love Lety with the same intensity. He asks her to read it, because it’s very important. She opens it and reads “I feel so bad because Lety, my Lety, has announced that she is officially Aldo’s girlfriend. I must resign myself to having lost her forever.”
Lety stops reading. With a tear running down her face, she says the she was very angry when Fern read her diary, so it’s not right that she do the same to him. Aldo calmly says that is not important right now; the only important thing now is what she feels after what she just read. He asks her what she plans to do now. She says she will return the journal and pretend she never read it. He clarifies that what he meant is, he wants to know how she feels. She admits that she feels terrible knowing that Fern is suffering. Reading his words is like hearing him weep, and that is painful for her.
Aldo says that in this world, what we need to do is cure suffering. He says he saw their embrace when they were saying goodbye, and that that embrace meant more than she knows. He says deep down she knows that as well. Lety says that yes, she knows that Fern loves her. Aldo points out that they’ve known that for quite some time. What he wants to know is how she feels. Lety hesitates, then asks if they can stop talking about this, for the sake of peace. Aldo says that if it’s peace they are looking for, then they must dig for the truth. Still cool as a cucumber, he asks her if she is worried about being honest because of her commitment to him. She admits she is. He tells not to be afraid of her feelings. She asks his forgiveness and confesses that she is deeply in love with Fern. For some reason, this makes Aldo smile. Lety says she wants to cancel the engagement. He says of course, but with one caveat, she must promise to be immensely happy with Fern.
Lety smiles as she turns away in the direction that Fern left. She thanks Aldo over and over. She turns back to him to thank him again, but Aldo is gone. Lety looks around and calls for him, but he’s disappeared. She is confused for a moment, but then calls for Don Fern instead. He’s long gone, but she calls out “Fernando, I want all of Conceptos to know that I love you!”

Tomás gets out of a taxi and asks "A panteón? Why did Paco send me to a panteón?" (a mausoleum) He salutes a bust of "Don Pedro". Alicia is at a gravesite decorated with the brightest flowers…orange, red, yellow, pink, purple, white…it's covered in flowers. She says: "Dad, there are men who don't fit in death--that is to say, death is too small for them--and you're one of them. Even though you're not physically here, you keep teaching me. I only just now realized I've spent 10 years, let's say, talking to you via cell phone. I love you, Dad. You'll always be my dad, my teacher. Thanks, Dad; thanks, Teach. You left and I was so alone. I couldn't accept that I no longer had anyone, that no one was taking care of me. But look, what things, right? Now, after so long, I had an experience that helped me accept your death and my sad reality. Dad, someone fell in love with me. Imagine it! And I didn't know how to appreciate it. But now Tomás showed me that he really loves me, because I did something really bad, yes, and he took the blame to protect me. I love him so much, dad, so much…" As Alicia has been talking, we see that the picture of her dad is that of Sergio Jimenez, the original director of LFMB (gracias, Sergio). Tomás has heard almost her entire speech and now interrupts: "Alicia…" Alicia: "Tomás!" T: "You see, I was right when I called you Chiquita, you're like a little unprotected girl. The most important thing in life to me is to be with you. I want you to give me the chance to take care of you, to protect you, to love you…" A: "Does this mean…?" T: "Shhh, Chiquita, it's all forgotten. Love means never having to say you're sorry." A: "Thank you, Tomy. I love you." Awwww, that's a really sweet kiss. And a beautiful scene. (Oh, ok, except for the "never having to say you're sorry" thing, that was a little cliché, but just go with it.)
At the Bachelor Pad, aka The Bachelor/ette Pad, aka Casa Compañia de Tres, and now Casa Marcia: Marcia invites Lety in. Lety apologizes, but she's looking for Fernando. She wants to talk to him because she needs to tell him…"Doña Marcia, I'm very much in love with him!" Marcia is surprised. "Aren't you going to marry Aldo anymore," she asks. Lety replies, "He understood me and he himself got me to make the decision because, because I, the truth is I never would have cancelled that wedding, Marcia, I didn't dare." Lety has the grace to look a little ashamed of herself here (and well she should! Bad girl! Now go make it right). Marcia: "You have no idea how much I would love to see Fernando happy. I think he paid tears of blood with all the pain we caused him." Lety: "Why do you say 'would love to'?" Marcia: "You took too long to realize you love Fernando. He left, Lety. See how ironic life is? So much suffering, you and I, we fought so much over him that in the end he's neither for you or for me." Lety: "Do you think that he would reject me?" Marcia (impatient): "Fernando left, Lety!" Lety: "Okay, he left, but where to?" Marcia picks up a note from the coffee table: "Look, when I got home to pack my suitcase to go to Monterrey I found this note." She hands the note to Lety. Lety cries as she hears Don Fernando reading his note to Marcia: "Marcia, I would have liked to leave my pain and my frustrations here, but I can't find a way to rip them from my soul. At best I'll come back one day when I can smile again. And that will happen only if I can manage to forget Leticia. Good luck, Marcia, be really happy and enjoy life for both of us. I love you. Your brother, Fernando." Lety lowers the note, looks at Marcia, and starts to speak, but Marcia takes her hands to stop her: "No, Lety, I have no idea where Fernando is, and I don't think anyone knows." She gently, sadly brushes Lety's face with the back of her hand. Awwww, nice how the girls are getting along now, no?
The Moras stroll along a tree-lined lane, arm in arm. Alicia is carrying a bouquet of long-stemmed red roses. Tomás is carrying her beaded clutch. Tomás marvels that if anyone had told him that one day he would be so, so happy by her side, he wouldn't have believed them. "Alicia Ferreira de Mora, I love you!" "Tomás Mora de Ferreira, me too." (But she says it all serious and sincere.) Tomás laughs with happiness. ("Is she good now?" my husband asks. "As in, she's not going to go around randomly embezzling money? Yeah, I think so," I reply.) "What happiness!" Tomás says. "And there's still more," Alicia says as she grins coquettishly. "What?" Tomás asks. "Well, there could be two little surprises…." "Two little surprises," Tomás muses, as though he's trying to guess what they might be. Alicia leans close and whispers in his ear, "You're going to be a daddy!" It takes Tomás a minute for that to sink in and then he lets loose a grito (a yell, specifically of the type one hears during mariachi songs; catch me when I've had too much to drink some time and I'll do one for you).
Tomás and Alicia return triumphantly to the maternal home. The noble and long-suffering Tomasa is preparing the dough for that day's bread. "Mother," calls Tomás, "come here!" "What has happened, my little dog ear?" asks Doña Tomasa as Tomás hugs her and swings her around. Tomás, in his joy, takes her hands and dances as he asks, "What is your greatest hope in life?" "No!" says Tomasa, "Don't tell me!" "Yes!" Tomás proclaims as he hoists her in his arms, "You will be a grandmother! I will be a father! And my Chiquita will be a mother!" He puts her down and Doña Tomasa, in the grand tradition of the Moras, goes to Alicia and grants her the blessing of anointing her cheeks with the sacred flour as was done of old. Alicia, not understanding the significance of this ancient rite, brushes the flour from her cheeks as Doña Tomasa embraces her son. The three join in a group hug as Alicia tells her mother-in-law that she is also happy to be bearing her a grandchild. To complete the ritual, Tomás and Alicia make a Tomasa sandwich as Tomás sings "Grandmother Tomasa."
Lety returns to Conceptos and the Bat Cave. "Don Fernando, tan divino," Lety says sadly. Awwwww, my last DFTD. *sob* "So many things we lived through here, in this little office. And now, we'll never see each other again. Never." She cries softly, and my heart leaps as the door opens. It's Marta, come to tell her maniguis she saw her arrive and she needs to speak with her. "Lety," she says, "if you knew what Don Fernando is suffering, we would cry together like Mary Magdalene, I swear. Lety, Don Fernando loves you, I swear he loves you." Lety: "Yes, Marta." Marta: "But you're in love with…" she can't say it. "No, I'm not marrying Aldo, Marta." Marta: "That's great news, Lety!" (! Times about 1,000) Lety: "Well, no, it's not good news because Don Fernando already left and no one knows where he's gone." Nu-uh! "He's at the airport! He asked me to get him some tickets to Rio de Janeiro!" See, that's why you should always make friends with administrative staff…they know everything! "Some tickets or one ticket," Lety asks. "One!" Marta exclaims. Lety: "What time does the plane leave?" Marta looks at her watch and panics because the plane is leaving, like, now, and Lety's gotta move it. Lety's busting a move and Marta tells her she's got to move it on out the door, not in the Bat Cave! Marta offers San Jorge a torta, presumable for Lety to make it to the airport on time. I hope he likes tortas, but then, who doesn't?
Julieta is packing her suitcase and telling Erasmo that it's so great that they're getting to go to Monterrey. Erasmo agrees, but unenthusiastically. Julieta asks what's up with him. He says, "Nothing. Well, you know, our girl's getting married and as much as I try to get used to the idea…" He is interrupted by the ringing phone and Julieta laughs at him, saying, "ay, my love." She answers the phone as dramatic music plays. "Lety? What's wrong? I don't understand. You're not going to marry Aldo?" Erasmo's mouth drops open (oh, we got a shot of his fillings…that wasn't well thought out!). "But what do you mean you're going to the airport, hija?"
We see Fernando at the airport, holding his ticket. We hear that Flight 540 to Rio is boarding now at Gate 38. Fernando moves slowly toward his gate.
Lety arrives at the airport with both her parents following anxiously. Erasmo says Lety hasn't told him anything concrete and asks why she cancelled the wedding with Aldo. Julieta tells him not to bother Lety. "It's simple dad," Lety says, "I cancelled it because I'm in love with Don Fernando Mendiola." Erasmo: "What? What game is this? What's this 'I'm getting married/I'm not getting married/Aldo/Fernando'? What's going on?" Dude, haven't you been paying attention? The counter agent arrives and Lety asks if the flight for Rio has left yet. In the great tradition of dramatic airport scenes, the desperation with which one is looking for information is directly proportional to the slowness with which the person one is asking for information finds said information. "Rio de Janeiro?" Erasmo asks, but is silenced by Julieta and Lety. The agent says the flight is taking off as they speak. "He's gone," Lety says, "Fernando has left."
Back at Conceptos, Marta is pacing nervously and making Celso anxious. Looks like the two of them are the only ones who haven't left for Monterrey. Celso asks if she thinks Lety caught Don Fernando and Marta replies that if she hasn't, she isn't going to because the plane left 10 minutes ago. She declares that she can't take it anymore and reaches for the phone. See, this is how we know Marta's changed for good, she didn't reach for a snack instead. Celso wonders who she's calling. She tells "Maniguito" it's better to prevent than lament and she knows someone who can help, but he should pray it works.
Fernando is squished into a coach seat next to some woman looking at him pityingly. "Goodbye, Mexico. Goodbye forever," Fernando says. The captain comes over the comm: "Good afternoon, this is Captain Ortiz speaking from the cabin. We have reached our cruising altitude of 33,000 feet. We're flying southwest toward Chiapas and from there to…" he's interrupted by interference. "Did the pilot's microphone break," Fernando wonders aloud to the woman next to him. The captain comes back on: "Excuse me, I have a message for Mr. Fernando Mendiola, I repeat, Fernando Mendiola." Fernando, surprised, looks at the woman next to him and says, "It's for me!" "Is your name Fernando?" asks the woman. "Yes, nice to meet you…it's for me! What could it be?" says Fernando. Captain: "This message is sent by Mrs. Marta Hurtado de Muñoz, from the Cuartel de las Feas." This gets a laugh from the passengers. The captain continues: "She tells us that Leticia Padilla Solis is not going to marry Aldo Domensain." "What!" Fernando screams. Captain: "Leticia Padilla Solis loves you, Don Fernando. I repeat, she loves you." The woman sitting next to Fernando, standing in for much of the viewing audience, practically smothers him with her congratulatory hug. "Thanks," he says, "but I've gotta get off this plane!" They're sitting in an emergency exit row and he reaches for the handle, freaking out his fellow passengers. (I'm so glad stuff like this never happens to me on flights! But I digress.) He tries running for the back of the plane, but is blocked by several passengers. "Okay, okay, I won't try to get off, but don't touch me, you're making me nervous…I'm getting off this plane!" The woman who was sitting next to him gets him to sit down and asks him to calm down. He says he's calm, but he has one question of a technical nature…"How do you get the door open?" This sets the other passengers to screaming again as he says he's got to get off the plane. The flight attendant tells him to control himself, he can't open the door. "Miss, are you deaf? Didn't you hear the pilot? I have to get off the plane and go back to Mexico and tell Lety I love her too! Because she's not marrying Aldo, caray!" The flight attendant and the smotherer try to calm Fernando down again.
Erasmo tells Julieta he doesn't like to see her like this. Julieta says that it's not possible that their daughter has suffered so much for nothing. She's not marrying Aldo and now Don Fernando is on his way to Brazil. "Can you imagine what she's suffering, Erasmo?" "I understand, Julieta, but we have to think that sooner or later, Lety will find true love." J: "Lety's true love is Fernando, he always was, and now she's lost him forever."
Lety is at the hotel where she and Fernando first made love. She sits on the bed and calls herself stupid for letting him go. "Don Fernando left. Why did he leave? He was here with me." She puts her hand on the comforter and as Ricardo Montaner's "Besame" plays, she remembers that night with Don Fernando. Hot! We see another hand approach hers on the bed. Lety looks up, surprised, as Don Fernando says "Are you thinking I'm just a memory, Lety?" "Yes, just a memory," she says as she touches his face. He takes her hand and kisses it. "And this kiss too?" "Then, Don Fernando, love isn't a dream? You're here with me?" "I don't know why I felt you'd be here, where you and I first made love." They spring apart and then realize they're being silly. "Yes, I remember," Lety says, "It was my birthday that day. And today's your birthday, Don Fernando." "It is, isn't it? Lety, I want to be with you for the rest of my days and the rest of my life and…of course, if you want me." "Yes, Don Fernando, I accept!" Fernando and Lety kiss, not like the hot kiss with Aurora, but sweetly. They look into each others' eyes, smiling, crying, and kiss again. Night has fallen over el DF.
Adios, Fea fans. It's been a pleasure, and I hope you've enjoyed it as much as I have!

Julieta and Erasmo sit quietly at the table, waiting for news. Julieta gives one hand to Erasmo and wipes the tears from her face with the other. Lety comes home, with Fernando scrunched down behind her. Julieta asks for a report. "What happened?"
"Hardly anything," Lety replies in her Lety-voice. Fernando jumps up from behind Lety like the world's hottest Jack-in-the-box. Julieta is still gaping as he falls into her arms! Catching sight of Erasmo's disapproving face, Fern backs off quickly. Lety tries to break the news, but Fernando interrupts. I guess he wants to do it by the book! "Doña Julieta!" (in a quieter voice:) "Don Erasmo... if you will permit me, and even if you won't, eh? I'm going to marry your daughter!" He gives Lety a big squeeze. Julieta looks delighted, as expected. Erasmo looks pissed, as usual! He steps forward and moves Lety aside (a bit roughly) to confront Fernando.
Fernando picks up some random knickknack in self defense. "Leave my things in their places," Erasmo says. "Do you want to repeat what you just said?"
"Don Fernando!" mother and daughter cry in alarm.
"That I am going to marry your daughter," Fernando says.
Erasmo turns to Lety with his arms crossed. "Is that what you want?" "With all my heart, Papa." Fernando whimpers nervously as Erasmo turns back to him, his arms still crossed. "OK, Don Fernando. You can marry my daughter!" He sends what looks like it'll be a roundhouse punch towards Fernando, but it's actually just an open hand for shaking. Fernando shakes the hand quickly and then picks Erasmo up and whirls him around! "This is such a happy moment!" Julieta adds, needlessly.
"I promise, I promise Don Erasmo, that I am going to make your daughter very happy. I promise!" Fernando still has his arms around Erasmo and is kissing his shoulder. Erasmo is still stunned and can only grudgingly acknowledge Fern.
Julieta reminds them of the airplane. Didn't Fern take it? Erasmo wiggles loose of Fernando's grasp and repeats the question. Preparing them for a long story, Fern asks them to sit down.
They all take seats at the table. Fern sits in Lety's usual seat, and Lety tries to sit there too, out of habit. They spring apart with the last booooooing sound effect of the series. Fern jumps out of the chair and beings to explain what happened.
"The plane took off, Don Erasmo." Fernando is pantomiming some of the action. Lety, seated in front of him, can't see him but somehow goes through the same motions. "And when it did, I thought we were already over Chiapas."
Fern and Erasmo get sidetracked by some nonsense that I don't get. Julieta brings Fern back to the story. "So anyway, Martha made a call to the pilot." ("Can I talk to the pilot?" Lety asks her telephone-hand, mimicking Martha's voice.) "Then suddenly we hear the pilot's voice."
We flash back to Fernando on the plane. There's the pilot, saying "We've been told that Leticia Padilla Solis is not going to marry Aldo DomensaEEN." Fern gapes. "¿¿QUE??"
"And as you would guess, I went a little crazy," Fern tells his future in-laws. Back to the flashback: Fernando is grabbing at the emergency exit. Everyone is screaming and trying to pull him away from it. He tries to explain that they don't need to alter their course. He'll put on a parachute, open the door, he'll go and they can continue on to Rio.
The pilot comes out to see what is going on. (Does anyone recognize this guy? That is, is this a notable cameo of some sort?) Fern tells him that Leticia Padilla Solis is the love of his life, He thought she was going to marry that jer-, uh, that fry coo-, er, Aldo DomensaEEn, I thought she was going to marry him, but no!"
Everyone on the plane is listening raptly. The pilot takes off his big sunglasses and says, "But Leticia decided not to marry Aldo because..."
Fernando asks the woman next to him to help him out of his seatbelt. (It's okay, she's a flight attendant, she's specially qualified to do this!) He gets into the aisle to make his dramatic plea. "You know why she's not getting married to Aldo? Because she loves ME, in fact we love each other. We love each other like idiots, like maniacs. We love each other like no one else in the world."
"So, if you can't land on the ocean for Lety, you're ready to jump out of the plane, right?" He sits in Fernando's abandoned seat and seems to be performing some type of negotiation technique. "Wow, you're intuitive," Fernando replies sarcastically. "Are you a relative of Omar Carvajal?"
"I don't know if this was explained to you, Mr. Mendiola, but we're 33,000 feet high. We can't open the door now."
"I beg of you, please, ask me, what do you want me to do, I'll slash my wrists, I'll do whatever you say." One of the many smitten female passengers has a better suggestion: they can turn the plane around and go back to the DF! Everyone agrees and cheers their support!
Coming out of the flashback, Fern mentions that during this chat, no one was flying the plane, and they almost got killed. That wasn't so funny. They told the pilot and he ran back to the cabin and righted the plane. (Lety makes a helpful sound effect and accompanying gesture.)
"Incredible! And so romantic!" Julieta sighs. "Love can do everything." Fernando shuffles over to Lety's parents and the three of them grin cutely at Lety. "Your daughter is so pretty, huh?" He shuffles back to Lety and hugs and kisses her in front of her parents. (Already they have shown more affection than Lety & Aldo ever did.)
Meanwhile, Alicia is happily sprinkling lime juice over a big mound of fried food with one hand and stuffing her face with the other. (Don't worry, she's being very ladylike as always.) Tomas hurries to her with another plate and she thanks him profusely. He hugs her and she doesn't call him a pervert, or anything. They begin to watch the early news and Alicia suddenly cries out in pain, clutching her stomach. Tomy panics and offers to call a doctor.
Alicia explains that the baby wants churros! If he doesn't go get her some churros, little Pancracito or Alicita will be born with a churro-face! Tomy whines that his kids will be even uglier than himself, Alicia takes his hand and tells him he's not ugly. "No, not ugly. Horrible!" Tomy jokes. They laugh and snort together. Tomy agrees to go for the churros. She tells him he's the most marvelous man on the face of the earth. She tries to kiss him, and he backs away, saying he'll go get the churros, and later they'll have time for that other stuff.
After Tomy leaves, Alicia says "I can't live without him. My Tomy, he makes me so happy."
The senior Mendiolas are now at the Padilla home. (It might be one of the signs of the Apocalypse.) Bozo says they're very confused. Humberto says they thought Lety was going to marry Aldo. Bozo asks, so how is it that you called us and said that you're going to marry her? Lety and Fern exchange mischievous glances. Fern says it's a long story, but the important thing is that they're going to get married.
This seems to satisfy Bozo, who strikes me as someone who doesn't do well with long stories. She wants to organize a huge wedding. Humberto says they're going to need time to send invites to all their friends. Bozo figures about 400 of them. It'll have to be a place that's worthy of the Mendiolas. (The Padillas looks somewhat left in the dust by this conversation.) Humberto says he's going to have to order champagne and French wines, And how about lobster?
"One moment, please!" Erasmo interrupts. "As far as I know, it's the father of the bride who has to pay for the celebration. Isn't that so?" Humberto protests about his 400 friends. Erasmo says he can't pay for a party with 400 guests, much less all this champagne, etc. Julieta sits him down. Bozo says they just want to make the day special for the kids. But Julieta agrees with Erasmo that she doesn't want a big wingding. They don't need to invite 400 people and serve caviar
Fern says he's thinking of something. He has an idea, which he whispers into Lety's ear. She giggles her approval. "Everyone in the world is in Monterrey, right? And they lent the cathedral to YOU, right? Not to either one of your boyfriends? And they don't care who you show up with?" ("Why not?" Lety asks, frowning. Fern indicates that he's glad she's showing up with him.) Anyway, it'd decided that they'll marry in Monterrey. (I don't even know why they needed to discuss this, I thought it was a given.)
Lety's parents agree. Fernando's parents agree. As Julieta hugs Fern's parents, Lety and Fernando prepare to kiss. Erasmo sticks his face between them to congratulate his daughter. They kiss him instead. Fernando asks Erasmo to tell them a story about his uncle Lazaro.
Now we're at the wedding. Celso is wearing a fancy outfit and performing head usher duties.
Psychic Guy Jorge Flores is there, telling some kids (presumably orphans) that happiness exists and God made them to be happy.
Octavio the Tricky Guapo is asking Marcia if Lety is going to marry Aldo DomensaEEn, the famous chef. Marcia coyly says no, she's not marrying him.
Tomy is telling Alicia how pretty she is. (She's wearing maybe the lowest-cut thing I've ever seen her in, but it doesn't look so bad without the crazy corset.) She reminds him that beauty is on the inside, and that's why she loves him. They laugh and kiss, then share a synchronized snort.
Omar is remarking to Carolina what a pretty wedding it is; Caro says theirs will be even prettier because it will be in a forest.
The cuartel are all in pink. Lopez is telling Sara that he remembers his wedding, a long time ago. "Very long time," Sara mutters. "Do you remember, my love?" Paco asks Martha. PM, who looks great with normal-looking hair, says something about finally getting to have those "tortolitos" (finger sandwiches?). Irmita crosses herself and says how much she would have liked it if Fernando could have married their Lety. Martha tells them to have faith - maybe a miracle can happen. Lola says "No more surprises! It never ends, it never ends!" (I read that the actress who played Juana was in the hospital when they shot this, having some kind of procedure done. I couldn't understand what the article was saying. If anyone knows, please comment!)
A Rolls convertible comes around the corner, to much applause. Inside are Lety and her mother. (I thought I saw Moty too, but it was just a bouquet.) Everyone cheers for Lety as Erasmo helps her out of the car. Luigi comes up and congratulates her on her beauty and perfection. He asks about her contact lenses, for which we were probably spared a product placement ad. She says they feel great and she can see perfectly. With a deep bow, Erasmo thanks Luigi for designing Lety's beautiful dress, hair, makeup, etc. Luigi whips the crowd up in noisy applause for Lety.
People start wondering where the groom is. Just then, Fern speeds up in his car. He says he got lost because he doesn't know his way around Monterrey. He jokes that Aldo got sick, so Fern is going to take his place. (I take it it's not considered bad luck in Mexico for the groom to see the bride in her dress before the wedding.) Everyone seems to approve of their being together. Fern calls for Martha and asks her for a hug. More applause.
Fernando explains to Martha that if it hadn't been for her call and a crazy passenger named Nuria Vasquez (I guess she's the woman who suggested that the pilot turn the plane around), he would not have gotten there. "Fernando, you know that your happiness is my happiness!" Martha tells him.
Marcia comes up to congratulate the happy couple and wish them well. She tells them that their wedding gives her so much joy; she loves both of them so much. Fern and Lety thank and kiss her. Marcia leads the crowd in another cheer for the couple.
"Lety, let's get married, no?"
"Let's get married."
Tomasita, who's been pointing her camera everywhere all morning, sits on the ground in front of them for a shot.
The church bell tolls, and that's the end of my segment.

And AMANDA:
Dramatic music plays while Aldo rises out of the sea like the Greek god that he is He emerges, his sexy white legs streaming out of his daisy dukes. In his arms Aldo clutches a small boy against his naked chest. How could Lety ever have let this guy go? Aldo gently sets the boy on the beach and prepares to do CPR.
The scene flashes back to earlier in the day. The boy yells out for his father. He heads toward the ocean and tells asks his father why he left. The boy says that he is going to look for his father in the ocean. The boy goes into the ocean and a wave swallows his small body. Hopefully, they used a stunt boy.
Lety’s ex begins to give the boy CPR. Despite Aldo’s best efforts, the boy does not revive. Aldo looks helplessly to the sky. His eyes plead for help from above.
The camera flashes to a shot of the Monterrey Cathedral. The future newlyweds cross themselves in preparation for the wedding mass. They kneel at the altar and the ceremony begins. Fernando, who I believe suffers from ADD, looks away from the priest and toward a painting to the left of the altar. He nudges Lety and gets her to look at the painting. In the most perfect novela twist ever, it’s a portrait of Aldo.*** The painting is a beautiful rendition of Aldo in robes smiling down at the couple. It makes sense. The word angel begins with an A and Aldo’s name begins with a name. It’s like destiny! I totally love it! This must be why Aldo and Fernando survived the motorcycle jump. The angel’s hand brought they safely down on fluffly clouds! Lety and Fernando look at the painting, impactados.
We return to the beach. Aldo has given up on CPR. He shakes the small boy, desperate for him to wake. This appears to work; the boy coughs. The boy asks for his father. Aldo the angel, frightened that the boy might turn and get a glance up the shorts, rescues the boy again by scooping him up into Aldo’s arms. He softly places the boy on the rocks. Aldo asks the boy if he has anyone. The boy again asks his angel about the boy’s parents. Aldo replies by asking the boy what happened to them. The boy responds that they went into the ocean and did not return. Aldo asks if the boy has anyone. The young one says that he’s having trouble breathing. Aldo pulls the boy to his chest, willing his own breath into the boy. Aldo wisely whispers to the boy that that the ocean will always be his friend.
The boy, inspired by Aldo’s words, plays in the surf with our angel. Dramatic music plays while Aldo swings the boy around. The pair share a few moments of pure joy. Aldo has found his new charge. Lety smiles and says that it’s Aldo; he’s an angel. Fernando spitefully says that in a way he’s like a pigeon. They both look at the photo and smile. Aldo happily peers down at them and silently gives his blessing.
The priest asks if there is anyone who wants to object to the wedding. Fernando and Lety nervously stand and look at everyone in the cathedral. No one objects, so they kneel back at the altar. The priest continues the ceremony. Fernando whispers to Lety that no one is opposing they’re wedding. Lety replies that nobody can oppose their happiness. The instrumental version of Besame plays while the ceremony continues.
The ceremony is over and we finally get to see that kiss we’ve so desperately waited for so many months. Ricardo Montaner’s version of Besame begins to play. Everyone applauds. Oh wait, Mr. Montaner is there, serenading the newlyweds. They proceed down the aisle, followed by the family. Everyone exits the church. The newlywed couple emerges and is showered with white rose pedals. Ricardo continues to sing to an empty church.
Lety and Fernando pause outside of the church and turn to each other. F (using the usted form) – “Lety I promise that I’m going to love you for all my life.” L (usted) – Don Fernando, I promise to make you happy for my entire life. I love you, Don Fernando.” F – “Don Fernando?” L (switching to tu) – “I love you, Fernando.” F (using tu) – “I love you, Lety.” They kiss again and everyone cheers. They kiss for a really, really long time.Besame continues and the parade starts. The entire cast drives around the streets of Monterrey in convertibles. What a nice gift for all the fans! Next, they play the “Club de las Feas” and continue with the parade footage.
The song finishes while the camera pans to the massive stage for the concert. An announcer greets all the friends to the grand finale of La Fea Mas Bella. The cast does a curtain call type greeting to the crowd. Jaime and Angelica, still in their wedding attire, perform “Tu Belleza es un Misterio” together. Next, Camila performs “Todo Cambio”At the concert, Alicia and Tomas sneak up on Luigi. Tomas asks for Fernando. Luigi wants to know why they want Fernando. Alicia says that she and Tomas bought him an expensive gift. Luigi asks what the gift is. Alicia says that it’s a hug. Tomas adds they got a key ring from Monterrey for the keys to their new house. Are totally getting it on! Lety removes the veil in one swoop. They dance around the room for a while and smile at each other like teenagers in love. They kiss and Fernando goes straight for the zipper. Within seconds, there’s nakedness and kisses. Camila continues to sing.

During the Kalimba song, Omar and Caro approach Luigi. Omar asks for Fernando. Why do they all think Luigi would know where he is? Luigi once again says that he hasn’t seen Fernando and he wants to know why Omar wants Fernando. Omar says that he wants to give Fernando some tips. *wink, wink* Luigi replies that he doesn’t think Fernando needs them. Caro asks if they think that Lety and Fernando are… No one gets it so she just says that she thinks they need to be left alone. Luigi agrees because he thinks they’re already… Omar does one last snort to imply that they’re making love. Luigi thinks so; they’ve had crazy hormones for a while now. Everyone starts to leave, but Luigi asks them not to leave him alone. They leave anyway. Luigi mumbles to himself about men.
During the Reik song, we get to see some more Fernando & Lety lovin. Something about the part where he grips her face and you can see his wedding band gets me. It gets me right here. [Striking my chest] **sniffle, sniffle** Fernando got his girl. **sniffle, sniffle** In the last scene we see the lovers, Fernando laying on top of Lety while she kisses his neck. He smiles.
***Disclaimer: This is purely a rant of my own, please feel to agree with me: Seriously, the thing with Aldo as an angel sucked! That is the worst novela cop out ever! Remember the thing in Herdidas where the bad woman turned into a dove? That looks like pure genius compared to this!!! Who though of this crap? Angel’s do not wear Daisy Dukes, have Farrah Fawcett hair, improperly give CPR (duh, check for breath sounds first), and try to steal women from their true loves!! I hated it! The worst thing is, that poor boy is going to have to listen to months of months of Aldo’s voodoo new age wannabe crap! Ugghhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can we kiss Aldo’s ass a little more please? In 5ft’s words “That’s a four cheese blend right there!”

I didn't think the scene with the Aldo Angel painting was supposed to be LITERAL. I just thought it was just one of those crazy coincidences that happens in LFMB. I took it more like "Hey, it looks like Aldo...yeah, that Aldo IS a nice guy." But angel? Nah...he did invite Lety to go to the bedroom that one time...I don't think even THIS novela would have an angel doing that! Or maybe I'm just in denial that someone would write something so goofy...

Did it seem rushed to anyone? I have known what happened since the one ended in Mexico. It seemed to me that Rosy just put this the last episodes together. It showed how much they missed the director.
I was literally on Aldo Angel watch for some months and I only have two occassions where Aldo shows some "angel" like qualities. I agree with 5Ft Latina and Tani. It was slapped together. I guess Rosy didn't count on the power of Don Fernando.
But I am happy and sad it is over. I am glad this rollercoaster is over(My heart could't take Don Fernando crying on Lety anymore) and sad since I only have my memories(and soon the dvd).

I bow to the recappers...I am not worthy...the recap was far better than the show...
I came expecting a steak dinner and got a tufu burger instead..caloric energy, but unsatisfying...
I saw this four months ago & I watched it again, (mostly to torture my husband..who was in extreme eye-roll thruout)
See I will never think this a great love story, cause she let Fernando walk away...she would not sacrifice Aldo for Fernando, rather she would sacrifice Fernando for Aldo...Sloppy Seconds

You guys have been just fabulous, thanks for everything. Aldo in the icon = the most ridiculous lastminute save I've ever seen, talk about deus ex machina!! Heh.
Before I start my rant I want to thank all the recappers for a fine job and good laughs. So that explains the Farrah style LOL. Aldo is a angel. What I want to know is when did TPTB decide to make Aldo a angel? And if his job was to keep Fernando and Lety together, why did he come between them? Was this a way to make them fight for their love. I'm glad Lety realized that Fernando is her true love don't get me wrong, but if I was Fernando I would've asked her "are you sure" LOL. Because the sudden "te amo" to Aldo to "te amo" to Fernando gave me whiplash LOL. The tribute to Sergio was touching, but this makes me wonder the whole time Alicia was talking to her father on the phone was she talking to her imagination. Tomas better start sleeping with one eye open LOL. The love scene at the end. I would've liked to have seen more than two seconds LOL. I waited a long time to see Fernando and Lety get it on again LOL. I understand Univision had no choice but to show some footage of the concert but I would've liked to see more of the love scene. Back to Aldo being a angel. That was such a copout. Aldo did and said things that were not angelic. That's just hard to swallow. Ok rant over. I want to thank the recappers for this board. It has been great to read the recaps in English when I didn't understand what was being said. If not for LFMB I wouldn't have found this board, I wouldn't have heard of Jaime or Angelica, and I wouldn't have had the pleasure of "talking" with you all. St. Aldo the Angel, ugh. I dreaded this moment for 4 months and it was still worse than I imagined. I also wished that Lety would have chosen Fernando on her own instead of Aldo practically shoving them together after getting between them for so long. But it all turned out okay, and I'm just greedy enough to be pleased by that.

First of all, I want to thank all of you wonderful recappers. It is so nice to have other people to chat with about this show and it has been such a pleasure to read your recaps. Each of you has your own unique style, but you blend together nicely and make such an awesome team. I know some of you are taking a break from recapping, but I hope to see you around the site some time. Others of you are going on to recap other shows, some I'll follow and some I won't, but I hope to see you around as well. I really do feel like this is the last day of high school and my friends are scattering around the country, onto other things. I'm excited that at least we have next week's Cristina as our first reunion.
Anyway, I refuse to accept Aldo as an angel. I agree, I think the icon in the church was was some sort of funny La Fea coincidence. And I'm certainly not buying it based on the whole rescue from the sea thing and the noncrash of the motorcycles. La Fea has had a few less than realistic episodes, that's what I chalk the motorcycle incident to, not Aldo being an angel and saving them.
OK, enough on Aldo. I'm so happy that Lety and Fernando ended up together. It was a beautiful wedding and everyone looked lovely (could be my happiness put rosecolored glasses on me, but I thought they all looked good). I could have sworn it was Moty in the car and even thought it was strange to bring the dog to the wedding. Thanks for clarifying that it was a bouquet Julie.
I didn't even notice that Juana wasn't at the wedding, but I did notice that Simon was nowhere to be seen. Any thoughts or info on that?

I loved the concert. It was cool to hear Jose Jose sing, but even cooler to hear him sing with Jose Feliciano! And Omar in that red shirt was hotness incarnate.

It was truly a magical night. At K's suggestion, I mixed my Chunky Monkey ice cream and Cuervo Black together to form a nice concoction we dubbed the Naughty Monkey. Then we East Coasters teased K and 5ft out West with our reactions to the show as we watched... and waited a couple of hours for them to catch up and react to the same things.
Cheese was mentioned a few times, for various reasons.
I was a little disappointed that Ariel didn't get hit by a pie truck, but it's just as well, since Aldo probably would have rescued him anyway.

Huge thanks to the recapping Tag Team for a stupendous job with the finale. I wish I could give the same kudos to the show’s producers. I don’t know what to say; I’m so disappointed that my heart is almost broken. In 10 years of watching telenovelas, I hate to say it but I’ve never seen such a dissatisfying, poorly-realized gran final. I guess it’s my fault for setting my expectations too high. I don’t know if it’s the fault of the writers or editors, but the bottom line is the producer is ultimately responsible for the quality of any telenovela. So like beckster, I’ll think long & hard before investing more of my life & time on another Rosy Ocampo production. (Ok, so… if it involves Jaime, yes; I’ll be there again. :-)
For weeks I’ve been reading the angry opinions here about Lety’s behavior, keeping to myself that, in the end, I was sure she’d redeem herself, or at least explain herself. We got neither. As abruptly as she dumped Fernando for Aldo, she went and did the same thing again in reverse. No explanation, just all of a sudden this 180-degree turn on a dime, with 100% conviction but no explanation. If I was Fern, in that hotel room after his proposal was accepted (for the 2nd time), I’d have had to ask, “Are you sure this time?” And since when can someone just appear in a hotel room like a ghost, with no key, no noise, no notice? Arrrgghhhhh! My realist little brain was doing somersaults. (“It’s only a telenovela, it’s only a telenovela…”)
Not that this was the only insane gaff of the show. Some others I can’t overlook:
The “Aldo as Archangel” bit: Melinama is right; this episode was held together by chicken wire and “deus ex machina”. I was already upset that the writers had “St. Aldo” be the agent that got Lety to finally admit her love for Fernando (she should have had the huevos to finally admit this on her own), but then the saving the drowning kid bit? QUE THE HECK did this have to do with ANYTHING??????
Turning the plane around because Fern’s true love has finally admitted her love for him. The whole scene on the plane was too silly for words. The woman in the seat next to Fern was Nuria Bages, a longtime Televisa actress & veteran of many, many telenovelas. Guess they decided to use her real name. Also, the pilot was another veteran Televisa actor, Miguel somebody or other (can’t remember his last name, but I’ve also seen him quite a bit before). In post-911 world, this scene just had me rolling my eyes.
A VERY GOOD THING that I’ll end with: LOVED the scene with Alicia at her father’s grave. It was very touching that the photo of her father was actually of Sergio Jimenez, the beloved director known as “El Profe” who died during the filming. That bit of info made that scene even more touching than it would otherwise have been. Who knew that Tommy & Alicia would be the most satisfying story line when this was all said & done? What a long, strange, and fun trip it’s been. Glad I still have lots of the early, sweet moments saved so I can savor them in the days to come.

It was Moty!! He had ears and was wearing a little tuxedo. But I can see how you would think it was a bouquet. I can't imagine anyone bringing a dog to a church wedding! I was a little disapointed that Moty didn't get a bigger part in the novela. When he was brought in, I thought he would be a huge part in Lety's healing after the "big meeting". But he was just there for cameos. For me, this show jumped the shark after the big meeting. The rest was just filler. And it is too bad. There were some opportunities for good plot and character development. I sort of hoped that as Lety transformed to a confident independent woman, the other members of Conceptos would be inspired to change as well. Lola would control her anger. Alicia would learn to abandon her materialism. El Cheque would be a father to his children. Tomas would get some social skills. Marta would learn healthy habits. Luigi would stop being such a bitch. In some ways, some of those things did happen, but it seemed like when they did happen, they weren't well illustrated. All of a sudden Marta's skinny-ish? What made Marcia stop being a bitch? Do we really think that Alicia learned to love Tomas overnight when there was no physical attraction? Nope, the writers couldn't work with the characters they had, they had to bring in Aldo. To me he was nothing but filler.

Thank you to all the recappers for telling me what happened last night. Here in Tucson, Univision screwed the whole evening up and I could screamed.

Another VERY good thing about the final that I forgot: The Wedding Night scene with Fer & Lety. Very, very, well done, but much too short!! This should have eclipsed their Second Night scene, but came up a little short. FYI: This scene was only added due to fan input in Mexico. Ocampy & Co didn’t have it slated per the original storyboard, but input from a fan website convinced her that there might be heck to pay if she didn’t address the fans request! As my dad always says, squeaky wheel gets the grease!

I was so disappointed in the story I am not ready to comment.
But on the music.
I was surprised at how good Jose Jose sounded. Was that pre-recorded? Considering how often they had to dub his speaking voice over on the show, I didn’t think he could sing like that any more.
I loved that they had the man who sings Besame on. I remember that song from Yo Soy Betty La Fea when it was Betty and Armando’s song, and was thrilled they carried it over to this show as a sort of tribute. To have him appear at Lety and Fernando’s wedding was a nice touch.

I deeply appreciate the time, effort and humor that the recappers put into this site.
I do not like the saying, "all good things come to an end." Does that mean that the bad things last forever? :)

I was sooo happy last night. I just couldn't wait until the show came on. My hustband was upset because he said that I tied up 3 TV's taping. I didn't want to take a chance on one taping in case it didn't come out. I felt like I was high, high on the drug called Fernando. I was so hyped last night that I couldn't sleep.
I really enjoyed the show, the concert, Cristina, everything.

Thank you, recappers, for helping me navigate all this! Call me a cheap date, but I thoroughly enjoyed the finale! Maybe I just expect a soap to be a little cheesy, especially one that is a comedy. Yes, I loved the airplane scene. And the scene at Casa Padilla - what a gem! Delightful!
I'm just glad we got some "happily ever after" time. In movies, the tortured lovers finally discover their true love, big kiss, roll the credits. So I was glad for the 40 minutes of show after the airplane scene. Not enough, true, but as I said, I'm a cheap date.
A few questions: Do you think the Christina interviews will be on the official DVD? (With subtitles since much of it was over my head? Or translation available elsewhere?)
Also, what are the most acitve English forums/ bulletin boards for either Fea or telenovelas in general? This blog is indispensible, but I'd like to add a more dialog-type resource. (If you know one, please be specific. Pretend I'm clueless. It's a safe bet!) Thank you!!!

Am I the only person who was annoyed by Aldo's squeaky shoes in the batcave? I know sound engineering is still a big mystery on some of these shows, but all that was needed in this case was for Juan S to take his shoes off.
Just wanted to thank ALL the recappers you have all done such a Great Job.
I started viewing LFMB back in October by accident. Ugly Betty was a rerun one night and I started flipping the channels. I do not watch Univision (not knowing Spanish) but when I heard someone say Letty and starting thinking (which is dangerous for me) Letty – Betty could this be Spanish version of Ugly Betty? So, I Google “La Fea Mas Bella” and read the write up in Wikipedia. I found myself interested and tuning in a few nights a week. The actors faces were very expressive (especially Fernando and Letty) and I thought I can follow this story! Then it became an obsession, like everyone else I came down with a bad case of Mendiolaites. I had to have everything done at night so I could watch LFMB and get my daily dose of Fernando (those eyes!). I thought I was all alone in my obsession. In March I told a co-worker about my obsession with LFMB. She thought I was going nuts, really!
I started tuning in a little before LFMB so I would not miss anything, and catching the end of Dueleo de Pasiones. I started tuning in earliler and earlier. And then when Destilando Amor started I would flip while watching something else to see what it was going on. The agave plants caught my interest and I Googled “agave” to find out what they were. During a search on Wikipedia I came across this site call CarayCaray and the recaps of LFMB. I THOUGHT I DIED AND WHEN TO HAVEN!!!. There were other people out there like me. Better yet they knew Spanish and were translating LFMB here for me to read. It was strange but I found I was following along better that I thought I was. Still it was so much fun reading the recaps everyday, and actually knowing what was going on. When I told my co-worker I found CarayCaray and that you all recap the Telenovelas she could not believe it! I am so glad my courisity let me here to CarayCaray. It came when I needed a distraction in my life, having lost my mother in September and not knowing what to do with myself. I was her caretaker and now I had all this time on my hands. Thank you CarayCaray it looks like you saved a lot of us this year. God sure does work in mysterious ways.

Once again this show stresses how we're all different (and thank god, how boring if we weren't!). For those of you who enjoyed the show, I'm glad you got a happy ending and I'm so jealous and wish I was one. Maybe it's just separation anxiety but I have to lump myself in the camp who hated it. I agree it was so rushed, it's like the writers decided to completely scrap whatever ending they originally had and cobbled this one together in minutes. Then in the big meeting everyone kept thanking Lety and all I could say to myself is "why????". What did she do? Any company-saving was done by Aldo (selling everything) and Fernando (with F.E.O.)! Then they make Aldo an angel! Oh my god, I gagged on my Caramel Sutra! I loved Aldo and have always stuck up for his character, but that was just TOO much for me to take. That has to be the most lame-a**ed, cop-out ending EVER! We can't make Lety a bad guy and a heart-breaker, so we'll make Aldo an angel who was planning this all along (at least that's how I interpreted it, sounds like some of you didn't, so hopefully I'm wrong!). Lastly, the way the concert cut into our Fernando/Lety time. I loved the concert (anyone know if it will be out on cd???), but I waited a long time for some hot kissing action and really didn't get a whole lot! And what's with Alicia's dad being dead? Didn't the writers go back and re-read the old episodes? I did, and there were several times where she asked her dad for money. I know she was supposed to be in denial and all, but come on, asking for money???
Ok, rant over. Sorry, but I REALLY needed to get that off my chest.

Folks I don't have time to read all the responses because I'm rushing to the airport and will have to wait until I get home. I have to say based on what we in Tucson saw last night LFMB had the worst ending in novela history. I HATED, HATED, HATED IT and here is why. In the first hour we did not get LFMB as advertised but a half hour of one of those things that pass for comedy and then the news. Hour two was the recap of Thursday and Friday and then suddenly without credits, just junk advertising the grand final we got Lety sitting on a bed in a room with some tulips and moaning about Fern leaving. Next cut to the two of them telling her parents they are going to get married. No scene of dumping Aldo, no reconciliation, no make up with Alicia and Tomas, nada. Cut to Aldo again rescuing someone from the sea, the church scenes and then the big fiesta cut into a few kissing scenes. I was in a word PISSED big time. I did notice that this Saturday afternoon there is a three hour LFMB show but don't know if it will be what everyone else saw. I'm still screaming about the people in my area being cheated after more than a year of viewing. I may be coming back in the middle of July and asking if anyone taped it and can send me a copy.
The Cristina show was adorable and I did enjoy that but could barely sleep because I was so upset. as we say WTF and Que the hall happened in Tucson.
To the recappers and blog sisters thank you for your dedication, wit and fun times. I'll miss it all and who knows when I'll get sucked back into novelaland after last nights debacle.

If any of you speak Spanish at all, I urge you to call the Univision station and give them hell. In fact, I think you should give them hell anyway, even if you have to do it in English, French, and a little bit of German.
If you let them feel your wrath, perhaps they will make it up to you. Perhaps not. But it's worth a shot. I would be beyond furious if I had missed a whole hour of the show because of someone else's massive screwup.

Lety looked beautiful in her wedding dress. I thought that her dark hair color on Cristina looked a lot better, and the short haircut looked great too.
I was kind of shocked to see that Alicia's Papi was dead. I could see her pretending to talk to him around the cuartel but there were times when she was alone and talking to him on the phone. That's weird.
I'm glad that Aldo was an angel. That way there's no chance that he will come back to try to take Lety away from Fernando.
I really enjoyed the concert. I had seen it before on You Tube and I really liked Kalimba. I ordered his CD from Amazon.com. It's a great CD with songs in English & Spanish.
Did anybody on Cristina mention what they will be doing next?
I was kind of shocked to see that Alicia's Papi was dead. I could see her pretending to talk to him around the cuartel but there were times when she was alone and talking to him on the phone. That's weird.
I'm glad that Aldo was an angel. That way there's no chance that he will come back to try to take Lety away from Fernando.
I really enjoyed the concert. I had seen it before on You Tube and I really liked Kalimba. I ordered his CD from Amazon.com. It's a great CD with songs in English & Spanish.
Did anybody on Cristina mention what they will be doing next?

I too was bothered by Aldo's noisy shoes, but I figured it's like ZuZu Bailey from the movie It's a Wonderful Life said: "Every time a shoe squeeks, an angel gets his wings." Or something like that.

I'm from the crowd who loved the Grand finale. I had my good wine opened and enjoyed the show. Cried for real during Alicia's and Fernando's scenes. Big "angelic" surprise - I remembered why I didn't like Aldo from almost the begining - he was too positive, not real. Apparently - this was the reason. Now I have a problem with linking him as an angel to his dad and his past. Hmm...

I really loved the ending and loved that Aldo was an angel. Did he always act like an angel? Do we (mortals) really know how an angel is supposed to act? It just made me think of a quote that I believe came from the late Bishop Sheen, "Divinity is where you least expect it." Lety will never have to worry about Aldo being heartbroken now, and be totally free in loving Fernando.
I loved everything about this novela--the good, the bad, the ugly, the beautiful....loved the actors, the music, the colorful sets, the scenic outside shots, the beautiful cathedrals, etc., etc.
Thanks again recappers for all of your hard work and time. I have so enjoyed all the laughter, the tears, the joy it brought me these past months. God Bless you all, and all the commenters too.

Recappers all, this was recap nirvana for me. Since I couldn't see it last night, I read it all this morning. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Your months of loving care for LFMB were culminated in an extraordinary recap, which I felt compelled to save to a Word file for future re-reading.

I began watching LFMB in January, and discovered Caray! in February. It was like my morning jolt (since I don't drink coffee) - I always looked forward to that part of the day. LFMB was the first telenovela I had ever watched, and I never watched American soaps - couldn't understand the point of them. That said, I think I mostly watched for the comedic moments, not so much for the drama. I didn't have high expectations, so I can't say that I was disappointed in the outcome - and pretty much just went with the flow of what was happening, and just enjoyed it all (the mudslide ice cream helped a bit). But y'all have been the biggest treat - your insights, comments, and asides. Gonna miss y'all.
Does anyone know if there was a similar or comparable blog for the Mexican broadcast of LFMB (maybe I could practice reading Spanish ; ) ? Thanks again.

The plots were squeezed tighter than 6 women trying to fit into one girdle. Everything was rush rushed. What happened to Juana and Simon at the wedding? It would have been nice to see a wedding reception, where the actors could really let their hair down, and a little more private time with Lety and Fern. Tomas and Alicia's story line ended well. I feel kind of cheated, after the long wait. Oh well, it's over. Thanks again to the recappers, for doing a wonderful job, and to the commentors, for the entertainment and input.

I kinda feel like i did with everyone on the imdb.com Rebelde bord on the last episode but in a few diffrents ways.
1 i know everyone will still be around
2 empty cause i didnt watch this show only bits and pieces
3 cause its so big and the most talked about things wont be the same with it gone
4 it was with me when I first started watching these shows
I hope when it comes out on dvd its one that shouldn't be cut.
I wasn't on full focuss watching the last ep there was to much noise and in the end my mom was drunk (like always she has a drinking problem) and came up to go to bed so i was off focus. im not good with loud sounds cause of my ADHD and Autism
But I have to say i enjoyed watching the end and all the other things of this show.

Even thought there were some flaws to the plot, I really just went with the flow and LOVED the whole Gran Final! I guess I was just being very sentimental, but when they started with the Theme song I started crying just thinking "this will be the last time we get to hear it..."

I'm with Jeanne in that I don't know if I can comment because it's just too sad right now. Now heart feels as if I've just lost someone real in my life. I was ok with the ending because Fernando and Lety finally got together, and with rings on their fingers, so I think it will last. I too just wish they had given us more time at the end to enjoy the reconciliation. We needed more time to wrap up this relationship that we've waited so long for. It should have been at least a full episode, like the Cuernavaca trip, to be fully satisfying.
Also, it was kind of weird cutting to the concert and then back to the LFMB characters/scenes. That was confusing.
Loved the Alicia/Tomas wrap-up and did enjoy Fernando/Lety's wedding scene. Just give us more, por favor! At least Lety did choose Fernando when Aldo confronted her, and I guess this is the only way the writers could have ended this so late in the day without having us feel sorry for Aldo. If Lety hadn't married Fernando, Aldo wouldn't have been in Alcapulco to save the little boy. Hokey, but better than nothing, so I'm ok with that story line. Fernando and Lety are so cute together. I will miss them as I would miss my own good friends.

This is my first telenovella, and I have never been so affected by a television show. I don't think I would have been half so affected without your recaps and all the wonderful people who left comments. Just reading today how much this site has meant to some of them is mind boggling.

I was really disappointed in the finale. I wanted more wedding!!!! I wanted to see them walk down the isle, and more "I do's" Here in Dallas it seemed like we had a more than usual share of commercials...they even had a bunch of commercials interupt in the middle of the altar scene!!(I think what I viewed on Youtube was longer!) It took me over an hour to download it and it was about 4 minutes. I felt frustrated and exhausted from waiting for those few short snippets of plot in between all the commercials!!! I loved the characters and thought the actors (especially angelica and Jamie and the Moras) did a great job. I am so sad it is over. I am going to definately look for it on dvd so I can watch without interuption and see what all they chopped out!! I loved seeing the actors on Christina and wish my spanish had been better. I hope the rest of Christina will be on next monday night here in Dallas. If anyone knows it to be different please let me know. Thanks to all.

I had the Chunky Monkey and the tequila, but it wasn't my idea to combine the two. K deserves the credit for that. :) I thought it sounded horrible, but then realized that my dishwasher was nearly full, with no room on top for more glasses. It was sheer laziness that inspired me to take K up on her suggestion and pour the tequila directly into the ice cream dish. :) (Her suggestion was to use the blender, but like I said, dishwasher almost full...)

I am going to miss you all so much - what a great recap.
The only thing I was disappointed in was the first hour out here in Calif. they reran Friday's show. I knew it was going to be some kind of rehash but I really wish they could have picked out some memorable clips from the beginning till now to show us instead of what we had just seen.
That said, I will close with my favorite saying "Oh Fernie, I love you so."

If I’m not mistaken, Psychic Guy told both Lety and Fernando that they would have to fight for their love and that they would both have to work hard to find their way back to each other. Neither one of them was "grown-up" enough to look inside to "do the work" by themselves. They needed Aldo the Angel. Look at what both Lety and Fern learned as a result of Aldo the Angel. It took all of that to get them to where they were at the end of the show...both happy, more mature and able to really love each other.
Anyway, that’s my take on it. Farfetched as it was to make Aldo an angel, it worked for me.

Firstly, loved this tag team recap. You are all such excellent writers with great flair for humor! I have to say the ending for me was a big letdown. They seemed to throw even more commercials than usual in. Normally, my attention will just wander when Aldo, Tomy & Alicia and the cuaratel were around. Last nite, I actually found myself reaching for the newspaper during a Lety and Fern scene. I think the one where he was re-telling what took place on the plane. Well, at least the St. Chiclet picture had me LOL! Since Aldo is so cheesey, I think they should have discovered his image in a grilled cheese! (Like that woman who saw either the Virgin Mary or Christ in the toasted bread of a grilled cheese sandwich.) I thought when he vanished after giving Lety the diary they were going to say he was an angel. Whether we are talking about Aldo being a saint/angel in a literal or symbolic sense, I just really thought it was ridiculous. I don’t consider his behavior angelic. Angels, talking about wanting to choke people, I got a problem with that. Anyway, I don’t think Lety and Fern needed his blessing or whatever the heck they were trying to convey with that. Beckster, I agree that some of the performances looked like they were phoned in. I did think that was a nice kiss when they were outside the church. I did not like how our shirtless Fern scenes were interrupted with the concert. I have said it before, but I can’t say thank you enough to all of you wonderful recappers and to blog mom Melinama! THANK YOU! I always knew if I needed a laugh, the recaps and comments would provide one for me. I am really going to miss everyone! Glad to have shared this experience with you all. God Bless and maybe we will meet on another show here again. But for now, I need a rest from addictive on every nite of the week programming!

Jose Jose, my Mexican husband tells me, was one of the greatest singer back in the day. However, greed and illness ruined his voice. (His story is like a novella itself) To hear him sing like that must have really strained his vocal cords. But it was wonderful to hear.

I really enjoyed the finale, and I think it’s mainly because I’ve learned so much from this site due to the wonderfully-written recaps. This is my 4th novela (I’m learning Spanish) and I kept being frustrated by all the odd, unbelievable plot twists and over-the-top acting (and clothes!), though I really did love the shows.

My favorite line from last night was when the sainted (and winged) Aldo was shown in the church icon, and Lety commented that he was an angel, then Fern said maybe a paloma. That really made me hoot.
Otherwise, I mostly boo-hooed through the whole finale and had a grand time. Thank you recappers for your delightful summaries (which have evolved into an art form all their own) and for all the other commenters. It’s been great.

I haven't had time to read all the other comments, but I just have to say: Aldo as angel?? That made no sense. Angels don't have restaurants and fathers and dead cheating wives, do they?
I guess that was to make us feel less bad about him losing Lety to Fernando. Maybe it was just symbolic of Aldo's role in the world. OK, I'll keep telling myself that.

A. I think Michelle is precisely right. Fernando & Lety needed the trials caused by Aldo, to mature and have the capacity for complete, surrendered love. Given who they are now, can you imagine Fernando hitting midlife and running off with a floozie? I think not. He'll never let go of what his agony won him. OTOH, look at Omar. Yes, he got smacked down and learned a lesson. But is he grown up yet? I think not. Could he chase his secretary at mid-life? Probably.
B. Watching the Cristina show, I realized... The first time I saw LFMB, I thought (forgive my heresy) "Who's the goofy guy with the Brylcreem?" Very soon, that changed to, "Fernando is extremely sexy." And then on Christina last night, I saw Jaime and I thought, "What, he's just a mere mortal?" I realized the attraction is in the character, not the real person. I'll grant you, Jaime doesn't have to sneak up on a glass of water, he's but still mortal, not divine. Fernando, OTOH, ...

I'm beginning to think that telenovela writers have a touch (well more than a touch!) of the sadistic. We have clung to our t.v.'s night after night, waiting, yearning, longing for Fern and Lety to reconnect....we've suffered through hours and hours of blather and tedium and heart-breaking reversal for what!? a year and a half!!!??? just to get one brief glimpse of reconciliation love-making...oh my, what a merciless tease!!!
That being said, the recappers were fabulous, the bloggers now feel like dear friends, and the experience, while sometimes thrilling, often frustrating, was shared with a vast community of fellow watchers all around the world. How cool is that?
I kind of liked that Aldo was an angel (illogical though that was) because we all seem to need angels to dig us out of our mistakes and I sure am looking for mine!!!

Thanks for the number for Univision, Julie. I called and some sweet, young, thing told me the transmitter went out(yawn) and when that happens the network just takes over. "But, we're going to rebroadcast the whole show from 1 to 3 on Saturday for you." For me?
I suggested it might be a good idea to mention that on the network a few times and she said,"Oh, yeah."
I have to say a word about Melinama here. We would never had met all you wonderful, bilingual people if she hadn't started it all with "Alborada". I don't know how I landed on her blog, but when I did I was hooked for good.
She did it all herself and it was a tremendous undertaking. Thank you, Melinama, you have created a dynasty.

I was disappointed in the final. Lety would never have married fern if it weren't for aldo insisting she look at her true feelings; at least she admitted to I think Marcia that she would never have broken her promise to marry aldo even though fern was her true love. I can understand that. She would be so guilt ridden, after all he did for her from day one when she began her problems with fern. I too wanted to see her walk down the isle and fern at the front of the alter, googy eyeing her like is done in real life. Not the two meeting outside and then going in. In a sense I can see aldo as an angel in this. Notice how calm he was when he picked up the diary and then took it to lety. Remeber when Fern went to Alcapolco to tell aldo lety loves him. Aldo at one point looked in space and said something like, "that is not the last word "yet". I think he meant that God has not made a decision yet on who she loves. When he saw the diary laying there, he knew what he had to do. With Christina, I was disappointed with fern. He did not look handsome to me unshaved and his hair al curely. And lety was dressed like a little girl like she played in the novela. It did her no justice and her hair looked like she had been out in the wind. It was a shock after seeing how beutiful it was for the wedding. Alica who was a flawless beauty, looked smacked with her hairdo. This is just my opinion. One more thing. Someone commented that lety and fern had to work hard to come togehter and aldo helped this. What did lety do to work hard to fight for fern. She didn't do anything. She stayed with aldo till the last day. Fern left his girlfriend of many years and he spent the last 6 months showing her he loved her. And yes, I too will never watch an Ocampy novela.

It seems strange that in 10 min. I won't be running to my tv to check out La Fea.
I feel the need to add to my earlier comment (cuz there just aren't enough posts on here already). I was happy with the ending because Lety and Fernando got married and the all too short scenes of them together at the end were very romantic. However I still feel like I've got whiplash from the rapid fire wind up they did at the end of the novela. It was almost as if the writers had no idea that the show was going to end...then one day Rosy Ocampo came in and said I've milked this cow for all it's got, the show is over in three days. Scramble, scramble, scramble, imply that Aldo's an angel and Alicia's been having conversations with her dead dad, show is over!! Qué the heck, for sure.
Beckster I forgot about Aldo's approach to getting physical with Lety and totally agree that seems hardly angelic. I also remember that the physical aspects of his fights with Fernando were all initiated by Aldo. These are the reasons why I am not buying Aldo as an angel. Michelle your ideas about Aldo's presence needed for Lety and Fernando to grow are very valid, I just don't know if he being an angel is quite necessary for that to happen.

I found this website sadly after wikipedia and so i knew how the show would end. Nevertheless, it was total bliss when I was able to know what really happened the night before. I think the recappers are brilliant and i'm very grateful for all that you guys did. What a service! I am so sad this novella is finished and wish that they would do a follow-up. I too think the ending was rushed, but so love the characters of Lety and Fernando that I can forgive the massacre of their story. This was my first novella. Is there another out there that is slightly similiar?

I'm with Fern...I'm not buying that Aldo was an angel. I liked the joke about him being a pidgeon or a dove 'cause of the wings in the painting. I think Aldo finally had a moment of clarity and a 'que the hell?" moment after he got his money back. Seems he was looking for a way out of this. He found the diary, flipped through it (probably), saw all the 'mi lety's, amo this and amo that and put two and two together. He was waaaaay too insisting that Lety say she loves Fern. He sure did a swift exit-stage-right when Lety turned her back. He was outta there! I'll miss the sight of his godlike nakedness splashing around in the water.
Moty was at the wedding. Julietta was holding him and he was wearing a cute little puppy tux. Very cute. When the group picture was taken in front of the church Moty was standing on Julietta's hands.
I think the ending was rushed and left me feeling like I'd eaten something good, but it went down so fast I didn't have a chance to taste it.
I really feel sorry for Alicia now with Tomasa as her mother in law.

Wow, were do I even begin. I just spent the last hour reading the amazing recap and all the comments. Now I see it is 7:00, but sadly, there is no La Fea Mas Bella for me to watch. I started watching La Fea the first week of January. It was the first telenovela I ever watched. Now I can't imagine not watching telenovelas. I first starting watching when Ugly Betty was in reruns & I remembered my Mexican friend telling me that there was a Mexican version called La Fea Mas Bella. The first episode I watched was with Fernando at the bar in his blue stripped shirt, holding a pic of Lety while kissing another women. I thought "who is this funny guy?" Later, I saw him crying & I have been hooked on him & the show ever since. When I first heard Lety speak I thought, oh no her voice is annoying, but soon her voice & her little quirks seemed to grow on me & I found her to be absolutely delightful. I found myself choosing to watch La Fea @ 7 instead of shows I had been faithfully watching for years. I googled the show and came upon something called Caray, Caray. I was so excited to know there were other non-spanish speaking people who loved this show as much as I did. I even learned Spanish well enough, so much so that my Mexican friends wanted to know how an Indian girl like me could converse so well with them in Spanish. I loved each & every episode. I loved the finale too, & Aldo being an angel did allow me to not feel sad for him, because it was his destiny to bring Fernando & Lety together & make them fight for their love, like Jorge Flowers said. The part I loved the most was seeing Fernando wearing his wedding ring. It made me fall for him all over again. I loved the concert & wished they would have shown more. Some people said that certain things happend in the show that would never happen in real life. But that is what was so great about this show. To all the recappers, you did a fantastic job! This show has been a major part of my life for so long & it's hard to let go. I don't think any other show will be able to captivate me like this show has. I hope to see all of you in the Destilando recaps. What else can I say... Don Fernando, tan divino!

All I can say is: Fernando in his blue shirt at the airport and on the plane... scruptious. Or as Luigi would say super extreme scruptious. If I were the lady sitting beside him on the plane, I would have been all over him too!! I will miss this forum very much, Lety and Fernando got me through my mothers stroke, I have never laughed so hard through such a rough time. It is really wonderful how many other people here have shared their bad times and how La Fea gave them much needed time off. Gracias a todas, muchachas y muchachos.

See, the beauty of bailing in the middle of the show's run is that I still see devasted Lety trying to run a company and hide her bruised, but still there feelings for Fernie. So last night was a total pay off for me, except for the brutally short wedding night scene - I kept saying, "Yes! Oh, God, yes!" then "Away with you, you teen popsters! Give me my Fernandito!" To be fair, I did enjoy the music. And yes, Amanda, it got me right here [pressing my hand earnestly over my heart] to see the ring on Fern's hand.
I saw the Aldo as an angel thing as metaphoric - literal or metaphoric, I was going to be happy with anything as long as it involved Lety & Fern ending up together. I'm glad to see Alicia found redemption, too. She just kept having a few too many normal moments of humanity to be totally irredemable. And I'm totally intrigued (sadly, a little too late) by Tomas and/or the actor who played him. So sweet - and check out those calves after he ditches the Lety-disguise. Sorry, one track mind.
I think the more investment of time and emotion in a show, movie series, book series, etc., the greater the probability of being partially or completely disappointed by the finale. The writers & producers evidently went astray and missed the chance to let our beloved characters grow along their journey and become even more lovable...but ultimately I still love them, so I was happy.
I can't say enough thank you's to the all the recappers, commetators and Melinama. Since my Spanish is still "muy mal" I'll try something different: mille grazie e buona fortuna.

One thing ironic was lety quickly deteriorated to fea ... except a tarted up fea not an au natural bad wardrobe fea. Like when she was outside with fernando in the sun her hair color was off orangey and the highlights cartoony and her makeup all kakey. cant keep that up unless you got a clown kit!

I am sad it's over. I loved the story even if it was wacky at times. But I've watched spanish soaps since childhood and the end always leaves you feeling the same. No matter how good, it's never good enough, because you want more. I loved the Fern and Lety kiss outside of the church. I must have watched it 10 times. There "love" was convincing to me. I always liked Aldo, and always knew he wouldn't end up with Lety, but he was a great guy nonetheless. Loved to read all of your comments, and different opinions. Though I must say to some, "relax, it's just a novela, it's not meant to be real". But I can understand falling in love with the characters. Oh, and to the person who said it's Don Fernando's character and not Jaime that is who you love...I agree. Jaime is gorgeous, but it's Don Fern that makes my heart flip. His personality, flaws and all.
Finally, I will miss reading this everyday. This is my first time commenting, but I've enjoyed reading all of your comments. And to the recappers..."Thanks". I am fluent in Spanish, but your sence of humor made watching this novela much more fun! I will miss it!

So sad to see it end, but I agree with the comment about seeing Fern with his wedding ring...I nearly swooned. I can only handle the Alpo storyline if his being an angel is symbolic, but I'm not sure they meant it that way. But still, Don Fernando, tan divino!

I'm sorry but I just can't let go cold turkey. My husband said that now that the novella is over I finally have you back. But last night I had to watch the DVD of the gran final again. I have to gradually wean myself off. I can't help it. I will probably watch a little more of it again tonight.

About the angel "controversy" here.... I've just finished reading all the comments of recappers and viewers. Are you listening to yourselves? A number of commentors have mentioned deeply personal events in their lives and how La Fea helped them thru it, by not only being able to laugh at the show, but having the opportunity to read, every day, such magnificent and hilarious recaps and comments. I was ok with Aldo being an angel. As Wikipedia said, there were many hints. Many of his scenes were near water, and sometimes a dove could be seen flying by, also One time Fernando made the comment that he was just trying to win Erasmo over with his "angel face". Also remember when he was riding on the motocycle, and he flapped his hands like he had wings.
I also think that he was there to keep a buffer between Fer and Lety until Fer learned that nothing was as important than Love. Also P>G> told him he would lose everything, but in the end, he would gain it all back.
Did any one else notice the tightness of the crotch in Jaime's jeans on the Christina show. I was astounded!!

Last night at 8:00 o'clock I thought what am I going to do now. After LFMB and investing my heart into it, I missed not seeing it anymore and the goings on of Fernando, Lety, and the whole gang. So I whipped out the recording of the grand finale and watched it again. Even though the ending was rushed, I'm glad that Fernando and Lety were together in the end. My heart skipped a beat seeing the wedding band on Fern's finger too. I miss this show terribly. I guess Aldo was the one to test the love of Fernando and Lety and once they both realized the importance of it, he helped to bring them back together. That's how I look at it. Thank you to the wonderful recappers for everything. You're the best.

my last night for seeing lfmb/usa was 5/16/07. movers came 5/17. I moved away from univision's free broadcast area (northern va, dc, southern md). Now the nearest univision to me is boston. I'm in mid-Maine. The nearest regular broadcasting station is Bangor and it's fuzzy. I'm too cheap to pay for tv. I haven't had time to come in the library to use the free internet (too cheap to pay for it) and read the summaries and comments every day. (the free libr here only allows 90 min i-t per day anyhow.)
I've decided to purchase a dell laptop so I can sit here in the libr, a block from where I live, and use their wi-fi hotspot to have free internet (and use their electric to save the dell battery). Then I'll catch up on everything in your caray,caray blogger, and also on youtube.
Meanwhile I received the 35 lfmb disks from novelasrus -- all spanish of course -- so I'll start watching lfmb from the beginning. I got 18 disks of alborada and amor real at the same time to go with the chopped up official versions w/english subtitles I already owned of F.C.'s work. I'm ready for the long winters here.
Whenever the official lfmb disks are finally for sale, w/english subtitles, no matter how chopped up they are I'll get them too.
I have no idea why this telenovela got to me. I only know 150 spanish words. Mostly I've laughed myself into a condition.
If youtube still has it there are sensational comic sequences, set to music, of ald&ferni's fight scenes etc etc. I hope they leave all that stuff out there for a long time. I could watch ferni hop behind sofas, and play rock paper scissors with omar, all day. I love to giggle and this show is engraved on my funny bones.

OK, the more I think about it, the more I lean towards this explanation: No, Aldo is not an angel in a definitive sense. He could not have come down from heaven specifically to save Lety and Fern's romance, because we know he had a life before Lety (his cheating wife, discord with dad, etc.).
But maybe, he at some point in history, was someone else, say someone so-o-o-o good and so-o-o wonderful, that he was made a saint. That explains the painting resembling him in the church.
And now, in his present incarnation, he is not a saint, but still has many of those saintly qualities still lingering in his DNA. Yes, he is human and suffers tragedies, but still saintly enough to be in the right place when someone need to be saved from the ocean, and understanding enough to know when to walk away from a relationship so that faithful viewers can see their beloved novela end happily.
I feel better now.

Another thing about the finale when Fernando and Lety had that long passionate kiss outside the cathedral, it seemed liked their immense love touched everyone that was standing around them. People were embracing and showing affection towards each other (of course I've watched this scene about twenty times now LOL). Love was definitely in the air. Just thought I'd bring that up. I don't know what to say about Aldo the angel. A headscratcher for sure LOL.

I think that the bigger mystery is not Aldo being an angel but Alicia talking to her dead father on the phone for 10 years. Wassup with that?

I think the writers must have forgotten what they had written (regarding Alicia's father). He's been dead for 10 years but she is still getting phone calls from him?
That sounds more like a "whoops"! to me.
Does anyone remember in the movie "Ghostbusters 2" the faces of the ghostbusters were shown at the end on a religious painting of saints (I think).
It didn't have a deep meaning but was just something of a joke.
I can't remember what was said but the situation reminded me of Aldo's face on the picture in the church.

Some commenters were concerned during la fea that people would spoil the ending by telling about it, since they watch youtube or saw the mexican version. I saw parts of the ending months ago. I need to know because I get too upset over soaps. YET, it was still as intense. I still closed my eyes, held my ears, walked away when I saw aldo near lety, sped up the fastforward, etc. I lost sleep over it, I cried over it, all as if I never knew what the ending would be. For me, knowing the end and knowing it will turn out right, doesn't stop what is happening to the characters during. Seeing fern cry, seeing lety kiss aldo, seeing lety wait till the last minute to say I love Fern and only after aldo basically hit her over the head. Actually I am bumbed about this because she would have married aldo. She said it herself to Marcia. She would have done it out of guilt for all that aldo did for her. that sucks. I have to remind myself that it is a soap opera. See, even while writing this, the tension and frustration is still there. Sos why not know the end result???

My mother suggested that maybe Aldo was an ordinary guy with the wife, father problems etc. but then somehow died and came back as an angel. That explanation works for me.

Last night I watched the episode that I recorded about the big junta. Everyone was in the boardroom waiting for Lety to come. She came in and gave everyone the folder with the real balances and she gave Fenando & Omar a copy of "The Letter."
My husband said haven't you had enough. I thought it was over.

I watched the gran finale and read the super extreme marvilloso recaps, but just now had time to read all the comments.
Loved the update from the Fern and Lety fan club. I'm so sad that the novela is over that I like to think of them continuing.
I can see Aldo's life continuing too, since I refuse to accept him as an angel. Yes, he played a role in Lety reuniting with Fern, but I agree with Fern. He's a paloma, not an angel. The face on the saint's image looked like Aldo, but... Aldo's rescue of the boy was similar to his rescue of Lety. He was hanging out on the beach both times. Aldo adopts the boy, keeps running his reclaimed restaurant, and helps his papa enjoy the new adopted grandson. Then, one night Carmina/stalker chick shows up with her dad for dinner at Sabor de la Vida. Stalker chick's dad and Aldo's dad already know each other and start chatting. Aldo's dad calls Aldo to come out of the kitchen and meet his old friend. Aldo comes out, sees stalker chick and they are both muy impactado. Love ensues and more volumes of the sabor de la vida cookbook series are published. Fern/Lety and Aldo/Carmina run into one another again when they meet on the talk show circuit promoting new projects. They enjoy a few laughs over the old days. Anyway, that's my version.
Tomas and Alicia's resolution was satisfying, if not 100% believable.
I had no idea Jose Jose could still sing like that, and loved the duet with Jose Feliciano. Would love to hear some vintage Jose Jose.

Anya, I like your version. Thanks, it makes me feel better about the ending thinking like that. To Anon 8:49, it's wonderful that knowing the end of something doesn't bother you (take it from an anal person, you're so lucky!!!), but as I've said in many posts, we're all different. What doesn't bother you does bother other people, just as some people prefer Eduardo Yanez over Jaime Camil. I'm with everyone else who're going through withdrawal, I've also been coming back to this site over and over, I'm just not ready to let go. :o(

I just finished watching the recorded Gran Final. Recappers, I loved reading the tag team recap and the comments, and seeing the real thing was amazing after I already had the story line in mind. You really had the details there! Thanks again.
Since I had read the recap first, I knew the Aldo-as-an-Angel discussion, and realized it made sense for the plot. In fact, it occurred to me that the writers, directors and producer may have made him look a bit like the Michael Landon angel character of years past (Highway to Heaven? Also, "Touched by an Angel" had some similiarities) and gave him some really human characteristics (anger, jealousy, etc.).
It also occurred to me that Jorge Flores, aka Psychic Guy, might have been another angel they wrote in. The scenes where Aldo saved the little child, with Bach's "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" playing in the background, supported the angel concept. Okay, it might be hokey, but it's a story device that has worked before, so why not here? Aldo the Angel was sent to make sure they figured out what they wanted in life and both had enough suffering to realize what's important. They became less self-absorbed and matured.
It's been an amazing journey with you recappers and those of us who have commented almost daily, combined with those of us who commented not so often. Think about the worldwide impact of this single program. It is really enormous. For all our "critical" analysis of story lines and details, it has been a very positive group effort that probably should be studied by some sociologist researcher. It's been a bonding catalyst more than anything, and an extraordinary experience for many, if not most, of us here on this blog. I had misty eyes when the word "Fin" appeared on the screen with all the fireworks. Why? The tears were as much for losing the people with whom I've shared comments about the program as well as bits and pieces of everyday life for months. Some of you have done this for over a year. It's an experience we'll not have quite this way again. That's why it feels like such a loss and we are having withdrawal.
That's my two cents' worth after seeing the Gran Final after the fact. Thanks to all for giving me such a change from my daily routine, for so long.

It's been an amazing journey with you recappers and those of us who have commented almost daily, combined with those of us who commented not so often. Think about the worldwide impact of this single program. It is really enormous. For all our "critical" analysis of story lines and details, it has been a very positive group effort that probably should be studied by some sociologist researcher. It's been a bonding catalyst more than anything, and an extraordinary experience for many, if not most, of us here on this blog. I had misty eyes when the word "Fin" appeared on the screen with all the fireworks. Why? The tears were as much for losing the people with whom I've shared comments about the program as well as bits and pieces of everyday life for months. Some of you have done this for over a year. It's an experience we'll not have quite this way again. That's why it feels like such a loss and we are having withdrawal.
That's my two cents' worth after seeing the Gran Final after the fact. Thanks to all for giving me such a change from my daily routine, for so long.
Thanks especially again to Melinama for putting this all in place and tenderly caring for it. Thanks to the entire recap team for putting such a huge effort, totally voluntary, into each and every recap.

Question-I know this is a moot point now, but am I right in thinking that Erasmo never knew that Fernando actually slept with Lety. I know he knew about the both of them "cooking" the books, but I think only her mother knew about the seduction. Why am I thinking about this? Like I said I am numb. Will miss everyone.

LFMB has definitely become a phenomenon that transcended across the globe. Look at how it's affected us all. So much to the point that for me myself I'm sad that it ended. It was like saying goodbye to dear friends. I thought for sure that Jorge Flores would turn out to be a angel. Not Aldo. In the finale when he was wearing that offwhite outfit he did look a bit angelic (like the angels in Touched By An Angel). Aldo was the instrument that helped both Fernando and Lety realize the awesome power of love and once they fully accepted that, he brought them back together. Solid, more in love than ever, and blissfully happy. When Fernando is smiling at Lety in the hotel room while they're slow dancing (so cute) I'm smiling right along with him. Jaime and Angelica made it look so believable that I couldn't help but wonder if they were actually in love in real life. What awesome chemistry.

I loved how all the couples were together then...it was just so cute.
Also loved how Fern and Lety looked around simultaneously when the priest asked if anyone had anything against them getting married.

I am so disappointed with how this ended. I was soo obsessed, and to have this woosey of an ending. Oh, Thomas and Alicia were okay....
but, I would have liked it better if.....
...after the kiss of Aurora and Fern... It would be okay for Fern to realize that it was Lety. Lety and Fern would have had to work together daily,
and sometimes Lety in her guise as Aurora would let her self go and enjoy their interactions...... Lety is feeling more and more guilty about Aldo as time goes on. Fern.... is really trying keep himself from her (due to his promise..) but sometimes he lets himself be in the moment. Lety is really turning into a wreck is she jealous of Aurora? Is Fern really falling for Aurora? Is Fern going to lose his friendship with Omar, cause he hasn't yet hooked up with Caro and can see the sparks flying on the set? How is Fern going to tell Lety he knows she is Aurora? Should he tell, orshould he wait for Lety to know they were meant to be together as Aurora knows......
I think it could have been really good.

Lety and Aldo never had sex. He did take her to a room once but she couldn't go through with it. And after she choose him over Fernando she did make a comment about wondering what "it" would be like with Aldo or something to that effect. I don't know if heavenly beings have sex LOL. That got me wondering. In the movie City of Angels the Nicolas Cage character fell from a skyscraper to become human so he could be with Meg Ryan's character. Maybe Aldo was once a angel and he fell. But that still doesn't explain him having a father. I'm grasping at straws trying to make since out that LOL.

I think we lost a lot of the scenes we would have loved to have seen. Starting with Aurora and Fern filming when he knew she was Lety, and all the way to the end when they skimped on the honeymoon.
I don't know if in Mexico they got the scenes or more details?
We suffered through the long boring parts but were cheated out of the good stuff!!!!!!!!
All said I'd still take the boring over nothing at all.

I just read on IMDB that Agustin Arana is going to be in the show replacing Duelo, Amar Sin Limites. I was planning on watching it anyway, but now I'm definitely going to check it out! Apparently the guy who plays Orlando in Duelo will also be in it. Hope it will be good...

One of my Spanish speaking co-workers just told me that she heard on the radio (spanish radio) that Angelica Vale was approached about doing a sequel to LFMB but she declined. I guess she just doesn't want to be type cast as Lety forever. Too bad because I would love to see a sequel.

That's the downside when you play a role and do it so well that people will only see you as that character. As much as I would like to see a follow up to the show I can see why Angelica and Jaime would be hesitant to revisit those characters anytime soon. As actors they will want to play other characters even though those characters (Lety and Fernando) are now their signature character. You know what I mean. I think the original show tried to do a sequel and if didn't do as well as the original.

You saw it all...there were no more scenes, because Rosy O'Campo vowed no one would no the outcome til the very end...once the big thing was set for Monterray...well that left alot of strange filler stuff...holding off the ending...
Lots of people felt cheated cause the whole thing at the end was so rushed and if you are not looking at it through rose colored glasses...made little sense...I much preferred the orginal...but hey that is just me

Beckster - I think you may have hit upon the answer to all our different reactions to this novela: I guess I have been "looking at it through rose colored glasses" so I just enjoyed it - didn't expect it to be realistic or perfect, didn't mind if one of the actors had a cold sore or a bad hair day (Week, month . . . ), didn't try to wish maturity or good judgment on any of the characters if they weren't exhibiting it. I figured it was part of the plot and let it go at that. I just went along for the ride and enjoyed it. I'm guessing others felt the way I did about the show or they wouldn't have had such a big audience.

In that August People en Espanol on the last page there is an article called "10 questions with Patricia Navidad". There is also a very pretty picture of her. I almost didn't recognize her. She looks really cute and much younger than Alicia.

After watching the grand finale again the part when Lety tells Marcia she wouldn't have canceled her wedding to Aldo reminded me of when Fernando was still going to go through with his wedding to Marcia even though he was in love with Lety. He felt obligated. So did Lety. She felt she had to marry Aldo because of what he did for her. Aldo released her of her obligation so that she could be with Fernando without any guilt. Still trying to make sense of it all. Still love Fer and Lety and still miss LFMB.

I know there were some flaws in my part of the recap (Fern pulls Lety into his lap, she doesn't sit it in by mistake; both Moty AND a bouquet are in the car; finger sandwiches; etc.) All I can say in my defense is that I was excited, tired, and kinda crying. (Just kinda. Really.)
And yeah, I'm not sure what our record number of posts was, but I'm pretty sure we never cracked 100.

I read an English translated article that said Angelica was going to play Sandy in "Petroleum Jelly". Does that mean she is going to play Sandy in Grease?

I hope that no one shoots me for this comment, but if they would have made a scene on their honeymoon of them haciendo el amor, it would have had to be almost porno to 1 up the steamy scenes that they did befor. They probly both had to take cold showers with him doing the shirtless scenes gazing into each others eyes etc. I would have liked it if they did a video of what their life would have been like after the honeymoon. Such as them going to thier new house maybe a kissing scene in the master bedroom, and a tour of a bedroom that would be a future room for a bebe.

Yes. Angelica is playing Sandy in Grease aka Vaselina. You should see the pics from opening night Sat. She looks gorgeous. Anon 11:26 I think you're right. That second love scene was a bit racy and so they toned it down for the honeymoon night. She and Jaime still steamed up the screen with the little bit that we saw LOL.

Earlier I wrote about wanting to hear more of Jose Jose after his duet with Jose Feliciano at the Gran Finale. When I was in WalMart the other day, I thought why not check, just in case. There was one cd, sort of a great hits collection, with songs from the 70s up through early 90s. You could hear some difference in his early and later voice. The earlier ones sounded especially silky smooth and effortless. Surprised he was able to still sing on camera with his speaking voice so gravelly. Used to be better looking, as did many of us!

I checked on Amazon for Jose Jose and found a lot of cd's. I wasn't sure which to order so will read a few reviews when I have time.

re Jose Jose, I listened to samples from many off his albums on itunes. I particularly liked the 25th anniversary two discs. The cover is a white background with Jose in silhouette (sp?).
I recommend you listen to some cuts on itunes to see what you like. I didn't care for his new one, Duetos, or the trios one. The other singers were just a distraction to me.
My music store had three titles in stock, and rather than ordering the 25th anniv. one, I chose La Historia del Principe, and I'm very happy with it. It has the Por Ella duet w/ Jose Feliciano - heavenly!!!
