La Fea Más Bella #294A 6/11/07 Well, it's hit the fan now!

Aldo wants to know what's going on. Lety thinks it's just because she forgot her glasses, so she puts them back on, but then notices what she's wearing. To cap it off, Tomás hands her a mirror and she's so impactada that she takes the glasses back off. Fernando and JR come over and JR says "Que impresion" (what an impression; how impressive). Tomás is trying to tell Lety "I told you so," but it's way too late for that…there's just no way to come back from this. Fernando says he thinks they're busted. Lety tells Aldo she can explain, but Aldo coldly says it's clear what she did with the help of Fernando and Tomás. Fernando then tries to explain, but Aldo cuts him off and says nothing can justify what Lety did. Now it's Tomás' turn, but Aldo cuts him off as well saying that he could have expected anything from Fernando, but Tomás? "Que desilusion tan grande" (What a big disappointment). Lety asks Aldo to listen to her for a second and Fernando pulls Tomás and JR away (but it looks more like JR sticks around to listen).

Lola and El Cheque: El Cheque is being released and the guy behind the desk tells him he hopes El Cheque will think twice next time before he gets behind on his payments. El Cheque swears he'll pay them first out of his paychecks from now on. Lola looks pretty doubtful. El Cheque gets his manila envelope of belongings back. El Cheque tells Lola he's not going to live with Jasmine anymore, he doesn't love her, he won't pay her bills and so now there won't be any more problems, "mi amor, Lola." Lola replies "Dolores" (ooh, burn!). She wants to know if he understands that this is all the fault of Jasmine, that quita maridos (husband-stealer; homewrecker), bandida (thief). El Cheque wants to have a chat with Lola over some taquitos.

Tomás and Fernando lament the failure of their brilliant plan. JR says this was a totally awesome evening. He thinks it rocks that Lety is Aurora. Millions of people are going to watch the program and it should be a big hit because of what happened tonight. Fernando wants to know what tonight has to do with it, but JR says nothing, see you tomorrow. They don't know what JR's planning, but Fernando swears he'll kill JR if Lety gets hurt any more and Tomás says he'll help.

Lety has apparently told Aldo the whole truth. Aldo's all bitchy that she didn't trust him with the truth earlier. Shut up, Aldo. (I know, I know, she had it coming, but that doesn't excuse him for being patronizing about it!) Blah, blah, blah, Lety lied to herself, blah, blah, blah, revenge, lies, making others suffer, blah, blah, blah, you haven't learned anything…again, Shut up, Aldo! Aldo says Lety finally found what she really wants in life…Fernando. Ooh, you know what, I take it back, Aldo, you are wise and you speak only truth…preach it, brother! Lety denies it (no, Lety, embrace it, embrace the Fer side!). Aldo's not buying what she's selling either. He says he didn't imagine the kiss between Aurora and Fernando. He calls it a bajeza (a despicable thing to do) that Lety had to dress up as a diva to kiss Fernando (I changed my mind again, shut up, Aldo, I'd do it too!), he calls it mezquindad (a miserable thing to do) and barbaridad (an atrocity). He says he's desilusionado (disappointed) with Lety and walks off, telling the guys to take Lety home. Fernando says Aldo's being unfair to Lety. Lety cries her overly-made-up eyes out and asks Fernando what to do. Fernando consoles her and says he and Tomás are there to protect her, but Tomás remembers Alicia is waiting for him, so Fernando will take Lety home. Lety says she's got to take off her makeup and change clothes. Fernando looks like he's sad, but he wants to jump up and down all at the same time. He settles for holding Lety. Ay, Don Fernando, tan divino!

Lola, El Cheque, and los taquitos: El Cheque is trying to put the moves on Lola, but in a kind of desperate, pathetic way. He's finally realized that Lola's a good mother and was an "excellent" wife. Lola's taking this well, not eating out of his hand, but not griping him out either. She doesn't think he's understood things yet. She thinks they can stay friends, since now she knows she can make it on her own and doesn't have to depend on anyone. She thanks El Cheque for the tacos and leaves.

Tomás comes home to find the bedroom door back up. He overhears Alicia (allegedly, I thought) talking to Papa about how Tomás runs around at night without telling her where he's going, he doesn't feed her, he doesn't give her money, she feels so alone. Tomás wants to talk to Papa and clear things up. He takes the phone and greets his "suegrito" (little father-in-law) and calls him "Don Papa de Alicia"…but alas, Tomás says "he hung up." Alicia weeps and says he always hangs up, he always leaves her, he always goes, he always does the same thing to her. She cries and lies down on the bed and Tomás looks worried. Sorry, I can't help it, but I feel really sorry for Alicia. It doesn't excuse her behavior, but it sure does explain a lot.

Aldo's on the phone to Carmina telling her he just needs to be alone, but Carmina is getting in the Carminamobile to rush to Aldo's side, whether he wants it or not. Go, Stalker Chick! Now's your chance!

The Moras: If you cry at the drop of a hat, you might want to get the hankies out now. Tomas: "Chiquita, understand me, I felt really strange when I heard what you said to your dad. I suddenly think I don't know you that well, Alicia Ferreira. I always liked you, I fell in love with your beauty, but you don't let me asomarme (you don't let me in) what you have here [in your heart] hidden. I never thought you were capable of…" Alicia: "Tomy, I'm going to explain it to you." Tomás:" No, Chiquita, I understand" Alicia: "Really? You're not mad?" Tomás: "Of course not, I just found out something that moved me." Alicia: "Ay, Tomy, what are you talking about?" Tomás: "Alicia, you have a great pain and even you haven't realized you're carrying it around." Alicia tries to laugh it off: " Ay, Tomy, I don't know what you're talking about, of course not." Tomás: "You don't know? Well, I do. But I'd like to understand more, know what's happening to you. Chiquita, I don't want you to suffer." Alicia: "But I don't suffer." Tomás: "Yes, you do. And now that I realize it, I don't know how, but I love you more." He moves in to kiss her, and it looks like she was going to kiss him, but Tomás kisses her on the forehead. Alicia: "But I'm great, look at me. You know." Tomás: "Yes, Chiquita. Good night." Alicia: "Good night, Tomy." He hands her her phone, leaves the room, and closes the door as Alicia looks, dare I say it, thoughtful. That, ladies and gentlemen, is the only scene I've seen with the two of them that hasn't completely grossed me out. I only pray they don't regress!

Fernando is driving Lety home and she has re-Lety-fied. It looks like she's wiped out from crying. Fernando tells her not to cry any more because it breaks his heart ("parte mi alma", literally "splits my soul"). He says Fry Daddy will be back once he realizes Lety did it for him. Lety says Aldo hates lies and he'll never forgive her. Fernando says it gives him flojera (he's sick of), Aldo with his intachable (impeccable) morals, but then he tells Lety he's kidding. Lety says Aldo is right and they were a couple and no se valen los engaños (it's not good to deceive). Fernando says she shouldn't be sad, he'll start getting over it with every soup he makes. Lety says she's lost him and she won't see him again. Fernando says she can count on him for whatever she needs. She thanks him and says he should go home and he can take her car if he wants (oops, I didn't notice they were in her car!). He says he'll get the door for her and helps her out of the car. He says he doesn't want to leave her alone, but she tells him not to worry and to go home. Fernando says "están las llaves pegadas" (the keys are in the car) and walks off.

JR is on the phone to the dude from the gossip show. They have some kind of brilliant plan that comes complete with creepy music. Everyone will watch the show. Mexico will have a big surprise tomorrow, and Leticia Padilla will become a public figure. Creeps. Those two make me sick.

Lety is in bed crying and Mama comes to visit. Lety says she made the worst mistake of her life. She tells Mama about the crazy evening. Mama's supportive, but she asks how Lety could think the plan for the evening was a good idea. Lety tells Mama about Aldo and what he said to her and that she lost him forever. Mama consoles Lety as we go to credits.

Tomorrow: Well, we don't exactly know, but we're on the road to the grand finale and there are more surprises in store.

Fern is so sweet and tender lately. Awwwwwwww.

I'd fallen off the LFMB wagon a while back, taping some but not necessarily watching. In retrospect, I should have at least kept reading the recaps because they are always just as entertaining as the show. Julie crystallized my thoughts exactly...I felt the same way when "Buffy" ended. I watched last night's ep of JQ, but I'm not sure I'll ever get hooked like I did on LFMB. In spite of a equal share of knucklehead behavior, I've really come to love Lety & Fern. Melinama, thanks for the photo of my Fernandito! And thanks to the recappers for your dedicated and delightful work!

That was a recap tan divino. I especially enjoyed the roller-coaster ride of Aldo's lecture. ("Shut up Aldo!... Preach it, brother!" etc.)

Great recap, thanks!
This episode didn't have any filler - everything was meaningful for a change. May be because it's only half hour long. Even Lola with her exit from dining with her ex was very impressive. And definitely Tomas with Alicia episode was completely different from any other of their encounters in front of us.
Aldo, Aldo. It was really hard for you to be deceived like that but may be now finally you've recognized that Lety is not for you. And the Aurora-Ferni kiss opened your eyes. Lety never kissed you like that - hasn't she?
Well, it's too bad that it nears to the end but, at least, it will be the right one!

FRY DADDY!!!!!!!!!! ROTFL! What a perfect name for him. 5ftLatina, great recap!!!!!!

Thanks for the entertaining recap, 5ft. St Loopey, it's good to see your name again.

Aldo sure didn't seem to want to listen to Lety's explanation. Did he ever really let her explain? Lety should have told him she would talk to him in the morning when he was mas tranquilo. If anything, Aldo's unforgiving and judgmental attitude has just made him even more unlikable to me. No me gusto. Lety better thank her stars that she's rid of him. Can you imagine a life with that morally superior know-it-all? My only problem with this is that now LEty will be turning to Fernando on the rebound, and I hate that. Fernando deserves much more.

Both Aldo and Carmina don't seem to be wasting any time to turn to one another, do they? I think Aldo is so unforgiving of Lety because he wants out of the relationship in order to be with Carmina and this was just a convenient excuse. He lies to himself saying he loves Lety.

I want a man just like Fernando!! Do you think we could clone him and then we would all be happy with enough Fernando tan divinos to go around.

"Lety should have told him she would talk to him in the morning when he was mas tranquilo." LOL, Connie! You said it!

Now let me say something that I'm feeling a little grumpy about:

Everyone in the cuartel has had a subplot, or at least a few fun moments, except for Juana. For the amount of time we spent watching the whole bunch of them talk about nothing, it would have been nice if she could have been given a little bit of a story. With the show drawing to a close in the near future, it seems unlikely that this will be rectified.

I don't care any more about Juana than I do the rest of the cuartel... I just think it's unfair that out of the whole useless bunch, one of them got snubbed. I figure either give each of them a story or don't give any of 'em a story. It doesn't make any sense to me to leave just one person out.

Or did Juana get her moment during the first few months of the show, maybe sometime between when Chris was recapping and when I started? I know she told Lety's fortune, but did she ever do anything else?

Very nice recap 5ft, Fry Daddy, LOL I like that one.

I was moved during the Tomas and Alicia seen. My eyes welled up.

Fern consoling Lety. So sweet, ayyy. I second cloning him.

I am going to miss this one despite everything and it's been a long time since I have said that about a novela.

I'm wondering if Lety is so broken up about aldo dropping her, because she feels guilty. She always loved him as a person and the person who picked her up in alcapulco when she was grieving over fern. He showed her love and caring and "in public" He even sold his empire for her. Wouldn't she then be this tearful that she hurt the very person that was there for her?? "but" not love him in the sense of romantic and forever love?? If I can believe this in my heart then I am going to be troubled with the rebound issue too. I would wonder, "Would she have cancelled the wedding at the last moment because of her love for fern, or would she marry aldo knowing that she doesn't love him. worse yet, aldo drops her and she returns to fern on the rebound. To me, this marriage would mean nothing to me. I would obsess on whether fern would always ask "Did you marry me because Aldo dropped you" However, I realize the story ends when it ends and there is no wondering, because there is no future for the soap after the finale ROTF. It's like wondering if cinderella and the prince are going to have a family DUH. There is no continuence; but I would continue to wonder about lety and fern and the motives. We need a clear ending and a satisfying ending.

Maybe lety and aldo get back together and then Lety tells him "later". I would be ok with that, but not lety picking fern on the rebound. She could explain to fern that she was going to marry aldo but that it was out of respect and admiration for all he did for her "BUT" her love feelings were only for fern. I could accept an excuse like that, if Fern did. Any suggestions/ideas

Great recap, thanks! I agree about the Tomy & Alicia scene. I could not understand what they were saying, but he did seem very caring. Glad to see he can speak without the cartoonish whine. The Carminamobile—haha. Fern’s right, Aldo is too moralistic.
Connie, you are so right, Lety should have used that talk to me in the morning line.
Aaayyy Lety, don’t waste any more tears on Aldo and sell the ring, it should give you enough money for 2 thrift store blazers.

Teresa

5ftLatina (are you really only 5 feet tall?) - thank you so much for that, probably your last, LFMB recap. You helped me with precisely what I wanted to know: the exact dialog between Aldo and Letty after her "coming out" appearance, and the exact dialog between Tomás and Alicia. I always know what's going on when I watch the show, but I don't have closed captioning and I'm just not good enough to get all the words in those important conversations. Many, many thanks to you and all the recappers!
Ann

i thank aldo is controling person by taking over the conversationwhy dont he go with the stalker chick they can controled each other and be happy i love fer he told lety that she is his heart and i belive that he would go to the ends of the for her go and be her rock and hold on to her

Thanks so much 5ft! You do a great job recapping!

I'm all for cloning Fern, where do we sign up?
I would love to see his sweet face each day! (sigh and sob)

I think Alicia is very pretty but not so much in the ultra close up with Tomas. Her cheeks, lips etc. looked done.
He was very sweet to her and for once I liked him very much.

I hate, hate, hate the shortened version. I miss my hour even with all the fillers.
Is Friday the last day or how long do we go with the half hour show?
My dish network guide is no help as it still lists it as on from 8 to 9.

Carrie L.

Great, funny recap! Thanks 5 ft.

I felt sorry for Lety, but have to say, she was as harsh to Fernando back when she thought he deceived her, so the it's all coming full circle. Everything Aldo said was true.

Lety has to accept that she loves Fernando, he's changed, and they make each other better, more whole and belong together.

It's very touching how loving Fernando is to Lety. I'll miss him. :(

The person who commented that "Maybe lety and aldo get back together and then Lety tells him "later" is exactly what I'm hoping for. Maybe Aldo will consider that he's been too hasty and wants to get back together with Lety, but she'll think about how unsupportive he's been and realize that her "true love" is Fernando Mendiola. Otherwise, it's just too soon to have her switch her allegiance to Don Ferni after being so upset over losing Aldo. Sure, I can understand it if she is upset because she is losing someone she admired and loved as a friend and is feeling guilty over deceiving him, but the writer's will have to make that very clear or they're going to ruin our happy ending.

I'm glad they had that sweet scene with Tomas and Alicia so we can see their relationship turning into true caring, instead of each using the other for lust or money.

Also, I'm happy Lola didn't fall right back into El Cheque's arms just because Yasmin dumped him. Maybe he'll have some time to appreciate what he had with his family that he has now lost so this doesn't repeat itself in the future.

It was so sad having just 30 minutes of LFMB last night. There was such a sense of loss when the new Juan Querendon came on La Fea's place. Reality didn't truly hit me until that shortened episode happened. I'm going to be so bummed after Friday's final that it's going to take a lot more than ice cream to see me through the night. Does anyone know yet if Friday is the gran fin and how long it will be? I just realized I made another commitment for Friday evening and will have to cancel immediately. It looks like Univision could let us know this close to the end for planning purposes. Thanks.

Julie, you are right. Everyone in the cuartel had a subplot except Juana. Although, I don't remember Sara having one either. I think they spent way too much time on Irmita's story about her dying husband.
I was just speculating about Alicia's Papi. Maybe she is just talking to his answering machine hoping that he will pick up. Maybe he disowned her and will not speak to her. Anyway, we will soon have the answer to this mystery.

Thanks 5ft for the great recap.

As always, I'm with Aldo on this one, sorry everyone. Lety lied to him over and over when she should have just come out at the very beginning and told him she was Aurora. There was never any good reason NOT to tell him (that whole "he won't love me if I'm pretty" shtick was just too stupid, yes it's definitely better to lie to the guy than to admit you're actually pretty). If he was too pissed to listen to her so-called explanations, I don't blame him at all, I would have been too. I don't know why people think he's being moralistic and judgmental just because he was pissed at being lied to, WAS that really a good thing for her to do? And that's not even throwing in the hot kiss he saw "Aurora" and Fernando share. Still not a big Lety fan here!

I agree that Fernando was very sweet though... he's definitely a much better person! And too adorable for words, of course!

Kim P.

Connie, you are so right about Aldo. He is a sanctimonious ass and life with him would be hell on earth for the free spirited Lety that lurks under her fea persona. Not only was he such a pig he would not let her explain he double betrayed her by running off and blabbing to Carmina. I want Lety to face her true feelings and tell Aldo sorry dude but it was all smoke and mirrors and my heart always belonged to Fern. I don't want her passively turning to Fern when St. Aldo dumps her. Fern deserves much more than that.

I too welled up with Alicia and Tomy and could have slapped him upside the head when he wouldn't let her explain. Maybe he didn't want to know the story but I sure as heck did.

Fern's behavior ever since he read the diary has been nothing short of magnificent. I'm with Lety - Don Fernando - tan divino!

How come on TV...drunk people sober-up instantly? She was like a trash can away from puke drunk?
jest wonderin...
Thanks for the good recap..
Now then I agree that Aldo is an Ass, but I do think he was kinda justified...he is just such a cursy prick about it...
Free spirited Lety? Let me know when she appears cause I haven't met her yet!

Sara had a little bit of a story during the lengthy filming of the underwear commercial when she was smitten with one of the tall bodyguards, and was hoping for true love. Didn't happen of course.
I'm no Aldo fan but it's understandable that his first reaction would be righteous anger and inability to listen. Supposedly men are more in the "old brain" than women and therefore are so flooded with emotion when they're angry it is totally impossible to reason with them for AT LEAST 20 minutes (20 years with some guys!)...so it's understandable that he was such a jerk about it.
And hey, if it lets the door open for Lety to see that Don Fernando tan divino is the guy for her, so be it!

Judy B.

Yeah, the security guard from the underwear commercial is the closest thing I remember to a subplot for Sara too, but at least it was something. It was hilarious, too. :) And there was also the time when one of the lawyers had a crush on her and Lola was trying to get Sara to be nice to him so she'd get a better divorce settlement.

It just seems to me like if you can't come up with something for a character to do, maybe you don't need that character. They could have combined the Sara and Juana characters - a tall woman who tells fortunes and makes jokes about her height. :)

I just realized, Celso hasn't had any subplots either, but I don't think of him as a member of the cuartel. I think of him more as eye-candy. :)

I too hope there is a little more with Aldo before (hopefully) going back to Fernando. Not just because it is right, but maybe I just want the stalker girl to wait a little longer before she becomes the Carminiance.

I enjoyed the tender moment with Tomas and Alicia. I may be wrong, but, maybe if there is no Papi, when Tomas said he understood, perhaps he realizes there is no Papi and that this is the way Alicia has dealt with many of her problems. I like that he said it made him love her more. I hope their love blossoms.

Is it too late to ask Fern to leave some of his DNA with a local cloning lab?

--Toni from Mass--

Hi everyone. I'm back from L.A., and in response to Jewels yesterday, and anyone else who might be interested, the Novela Festival was both bad and good, but I'm very happy I went. One chief bad part was how short it was, and I do mean SHORT! Each performer only got about 15 minutes of stage time, so the show was actually under an hour. Far too short considering how long many people (including me) stood in line waiting for it. I had an excellent seat, I was in the second row right at face-level with the performers (front row was a little below stage level and you had to look up to see them, so I picked the second row).

One good thing was Raul Magana. Suddenly I'm an Ariel fan! He was SO much cuter in real life and had the most adorable smile and personality! I guess unlike most of the rest of the LFMB cast he doesn't sing, so his bit was actually a little silly but he was so cute it was ok! He got strangers up on stage (4 men and 4 women) and had them act out scenes as Fernando and Lety, love scenes that is. It was actually funnier than it sounds and, as I said, he was adorable. But again, he was only on about 15 minutes.

Then the woman came on, sorry, I don't know who she is. She was good, though, sang mariachi and was obviously very popular with the crowd. I have to say, here, that the show was completely in Spanish, which as you all know I've mentioned before I don't speak. But I met some great people in line and they translated for me when necessary. Anyway, this lady (I think her name was Lorena something) sang two songs and talked some and then she was done.

Then Jaime Camil came out and OMG! He was ADORABLE!!! Sadly, he also only sang two songs and did some talking about LFMB, then he was done, but while he was on he was really playing to the crowd and he was so cute it was totally worth the wait!! I took some pictures, I hope they turn out. I'll try to get them developed asap, and hopefully someone can tell me how to get them uploaded so y'all can see them. He really was so danged CUTE (ok, yes, I'm still drooling!).

The final bad thing was that they had all 3 performers out in front signing autographs. Those of us who waited all day in line for the show were first into the theater and got great seats, but the exits were in the back so we were the last ones to be able to get out. We therefore were the last ones in line to get autographs, and of course the line was HUGE and the actors only stayed about an hour, so not even half the line got autographs. It was nice they'd set that up, at least some people got to meet them and get autographs, but sadly I wasn't one of them.

So, all in all I was glad I went and I loved seeing JC in person, and now I'm a big Raul fan too, but I'm glad I didn't JUST go for the show, I'm glad I made a little mini-break and spent a couple of days at the beach as well. I'd have been much more disappointed.

Sorry for the long post, hope I can get the pics uploaded before this all ends.

Just want to add that I'll miss all of you once LFMB is over. I don't know if I'll be moving on to other shows, it was Jaime, Juan, Augustin, Sergio, and the guy who plays Celso that kept me watching a show in a language I don't understand, and without them I don't know... I watched Juan Querendon last night and it just didn't do it for me, though I'll hang on for a few more episodes to see if it grows. Mostly if I keep watching these telenovelas it will be so I can keep chatting with this excellent (and always entertaining) blog group. And once again, thanks to all you recappers for keeping me informed!!!

Kim P.

Kim,
Thanks for the update! So close to JC....sigh. Was his hair curly or slicked back? JC tan divino!...sigh

Speaking of Ariel. He kind of dropped off the face of the show. I'm surprised they never gave him more of a back story. I hope he shows up for the finale.

Fry daddy! love it

Where the heck are Caromar? Don't tell me their story is over! I want more.

Thanks for the report, Kim. I've been curious about Raul for a long time - he really seems to enjoy his Ariel scenes. I always imagined that he was probably a super-nice guy in real life, and that's why everyone thought it would be a great joke to put him in the bad-guy role. :)

I remember reading, many months ago, that he was getting a talk show (or was part of a talk show cast, or something like that) so I figured he must have some personality. Thanks for confirming this. :)

Jewels - "Caromar" - I love it. Sounds like a candy bar. Much better than my "Omarlina" which I never got a chance to use (sounds like a cooking oil anyway). :)

Kim P - only 15 minutes of Jaime? I'm surprised the show was that short. Still, to be that close to him!!
Glad to know he's adorable in person, too. Can't wait to see your pictures!

As far as Juan Q., the story might be fun, but he's no Fernando, at all...(sighing sadly).

I'm truly thankful for the recaps and comments. I'm on vacation and only had them to rely on. I did get to see last night's episode and loved Fern's understanding for Lety. She needs to realize Aldo shouldn't be her life companion.
Tomas was really sweet to Alicia. I still want to know more about her Papi. Did he abandon her, ignore her, abuse her, what??

According to IMBD, Raúl Magaña was part of the group "Mestizo," with whom he recorded three CD's, so he's a musician of some kind, whether vocal or instumental.
I guess Juana's subplot was early in the show, when she was reading the caracoles.
I hope Lola doesn't take Sr. Cheque back, although I have a sinking feeling that she will. For the children.
Whatever happened to Psychic Guy?

Jewels, it was curly, but not unruly. He was smiling that adorable smile and winking at the crowd and waving and just generally acting like he might really be a nice guy for real. Thank god I wasn't any closer or I'd have been up on rape charges for sure! Still, I was so glad I was as close as I was so hopefully the pictures will turn out. It's one of those disposable cameras and you know how they make everything look so darned far away! I'm going to get them developed on paper, but also on cd. If anyone out there can tell me how to upload them once I get the cd back, I'd really appreciate it!

If they give Raul Magana a show, I'd watch it. He really was just too cute! And woo hoo, he is built way better than you would guss from seeing him as Ariel. Dang, now I'm drooling twice!!!

Anon 2:28, it must be as a musician then, because I can't imagine why they wouldn't have had him sing if he was a singer, the other two sang. Ah well, now I have to get a tivo or other dvr so I can set it to search for any of those actors!

Kim P.

I'm still in camp Aldo. That guy has been so jerked around by lety then by mama J. Lety doesn't let him give her more than a chaste kiss--always keeping him at arms length, acting and talking like a toddler. He's tried to get enthused about the wedding but everyone is harshing his joy--especially the bride-to-be. the Aurora reveal was probably the last straw for him with all that he's been through with that crazy bunch. I too wish he'd just drop lety and say if you need me I'll be in Acapulco.
Barb

Thanks for another funny, wonderful recap! This site is pure delight and I’m going to miss the summaries and comments as much as the show. I’m going to give Juan Querendon a twirl since, though last night’s starter wasn’t amazing, still it had some fun parts.

I think Alicia’s papi exists, since she seems to have back-and-forth conversations with him and I recall much earlier in the show that he seemed to be reproaching her for spending her money on expensive clothes and the Mercedes.

How ‘bout under Jaime Camil’s photo (instead of “we’ll miss him”) “tan divino”?

I second Maggie on "tan divino"!
But I ( and all of you ladies) REALLY going to miss him!

Maggie, I like that "tan divino" label for Fernando's picture since that is how most of us think so fondly of him.

Also, good point Anon. Whatever did happen to Psychic Guy. You would think he would make one more appearance.

Kim P, thanks for letting us know how the show was. Glad you got to see Jaime in person and had a good seat. Also, Judy B, I meant to thank you yesterday for recapping that Angelica article for us. (I think it was you.) I envy the relationship she has with her mom. I don’t like that we don’t know the exact end date. I think it is kind of cruel. Is this the way Univision normally operates when they end a telenovela? If so, I think they are asshats. (Haven’t used that one in awhile.) If we have half hour episodes (more like 15 minute episodes) for more than a week, it is going to feel like slow death to me.

Well gosh, glad you all (Lola, Julie, Jeanne, Teresa) appreciated the synopsis...what I'm really hoping for is an article on Jaime Camill with LOTS of pictures. The description of his hair as "curly but not unruly" by our lucky spectator gave me a hot flash! Lordy, I'm too old to be this ga-ga over an hombre...but he is tan divino.

Judy B..

Okay this is the way I see it...
The debt can now be paid and the door has been left wide open for Lety to pick her twue luv...
so if she goes to Aldo...done deal
if she picks Fernando, she now has every reason without looking like she dumped Aldo...

So let us see where her little glitter pen heart lies...

Judy. Re what you said about age--" Lordy, I'm too old to be this ga-ga over an hombre...but he is tan divino" BUT, isn't it nice to see how wonderful Jaime treats Julieta----kisses, hugs, confidential tete a tetes.....I mean, he is so much respect for older ladies (like me!). Boy, what I would give for a son-in-law like that.

Kim P....you're so lucky. Kris and I weren't able/allowed to take pictures when we went to the Cristina taping in Miami. (sigh) I can tell you that Jaime was sweet and nice while he was talking to the studio audience in between segments of the show. I think that he really is that way in real life. I told of friend of mine that he appeared to be pretty ego-free.

He's handsome, sweet, easy on the eyes, talented in so many ways....(SIGH)!! Tan divino!!!

I know that Angelica's article in People En Espanol was re-capped yesterday but here the direct link to the English version:

I'm not too happy about Lety going back to Fern on the rebound. I want her to choose him. period.

I still think she is scared to love again after her burns in the past, so she is mistaking friendship for love with Aldo.

This is pure speculation: I think Lety will go to apologize to Aldo and find him in bed with Carmina.

Ooch! We'll find out soon enough...

For the one who said they watched last night's Juan and could not get into it. My spanish tutor, who discusses La fea each week with me, in spanish, kept telling me about the Destillando that was coming on and how what a hunk Rod would be. She kept telling me he is on a horse with a hat on. I would see the commercials and think UGGG. I was comparing him to Fernando. I said he sucks; owever, I watched the show when it started. I did not get into this Rod for about 10 or 12 nights of watching. Now I am fixated on the sweet looks he has for Gaviota. It is weird. His soft looks are sooo handsome but his anger looks make him actually ugly. I have to admit, the other night when he picked gaviota up in his arms on the beach, swung in a circle and threw her in the air, catching her and besandola. Oh my god!! Fern and lety have not topped that yet. BBBBUUUTT Fern is the man of the year, the day, the month, the century ROTF. He is it.

I don't feel sorry for Aldo. He knew from the beginning that Lety was still in love with Fernando and he came between them. I still believe that Lety is only with him out of gratitude because he was there when she really needed someone and he gave up everything for her. She loves him, but she's not in love with him. I don't want her turning to Fernando on the rebound however. Fernando deserves better than that. He was so loving and tender with her. If she don't want him, I'll take him LOL.

Jewels, love the "caromar" . . . As Julie suggested, it
brings to mind the Caravel and Malomar, 2 childhood favorites.

Dear Univision, please make a "La Fea" meets "Mystery Date" board game so we can play at home after the show ends.

5ft, thanks for the recap.

Unless I'm losing my mind it seems to me that Raul Magana was one of the original members of the Solo Por Mujers show along with Sergio Meyer and Jorge Salinas. There was a lot of dancing in that show if I remember and Raul has done several novelas over the last 10 years always playing a prick like character like Ariel.

The question does Univision always handle a novela ending like this the answer is NO. In all the years I've been watching novelas I've never seen them stretch an ending and introduce a new show in half hour segments. I've seen them stretch an end by replaying almost a half hour of the previous day before getting the new stuff which is annoying as heck when your'e taping. Normally a week before the final they begin heavy announcements that the end is on X date and then running similar ads for the great new show along with its start date. So the way they handled this is aberrant all the way around.

Duelo is in its last weeks phase and still not a hint of what will replace it. Destilano has months to go since only weeks after it began showing here they announced that it had been extended 100 episodes so Rod fans can look forward to a lot more drool time.

Speaking of drooling I just saw the new copy of TV & Noverlas with some shots of Colunga during the filming of Pirates. Hate to say this to his fans but I thought he looked awful, bad costume and he even - gasp - looked old and not because of his makeup.

Roseanna

Poor Caromar - last seen kissing in Saimon's house. I'd love to know where they are now and how happy they are. Is the Three's Company pad now down to two? And I want to see Marcia's mystery man.

Terri

Hopefully, Omar won't take the Lety/Aurora news too hard. I know Caro helped deceive him, but that was before they fell in love. If anything, the lies brought them together. It opened Omar's heart and Caro's mind.

Suddenly feel like singing, "I'm off to see the wizard..." If Omar only had a heart, if Alicia only had a brain...if Lety only had a mirror...

Roseanna, I wonder if that's out on dvd. I would LOVE to see Raul Magana dancing! I mean, I can't believe I'm saying this about ARIEL, but he really was just too adorable (though still not up to JC's caliber) and looked mighty fine in tight jeans! Guess I'm gonna have to check my Netflix and see what's out there that he's in. Thanks for the info!

As pathetic as Alicia might have been last night, she's still stolen money from the company. Is she EVER gonna have to pay for that??? Come on writers, crime isn't supposed to pay, remember?

I think this may not end Friday with the Gran Finale after all. I just found an updated web site for Univision in Albuquerque that now shows LFMB as half an hour each day this week and each day next week. The schedule only went as far as Frday 22nd, so I don't know after that. I don't know if I'm happy to have it stretched out another week or not???
Ann

Didn't they do a three-hour finale on a Sunday in Mexico? If that's the deal, I need to know when it ends so I can clear the decks for Sunday night....no way am I missing the finale!!!!!

Judy B.

I'm really sweating the final since I'm leaving the country on June 26 and will be royally PO'd to have to wait to get home to se the end while praying no storms screw up the time or my cable. Maybe we need to call Univision. I remember doing that once before and they hedged but did give me an end date. This is really Mickey Mouse of them and not a smart way to handle fans.

Thanks for all the positive feedback. I'm glad you're enjoying the recaps.

In answer to Ann's question: Yes, I'm only 5ft tall. When I start shrinking to 4'11" and 3/4, I know it's time to do more yoga! Someone asked last week about a picture, I just haven't had time to go digging for a good one.

About Caromar: I like to imagine that since Saimon and PM are off on their honeymoon, nobody ever noticed that Caromar never came out of Saimon's apartment and they're still there :) They have a lot of catching up to do!

5ftlatina:
That's perfect. Maybe the door is still locked and Caromar are chilling at PMS's house and finishing off the soda and finger food from the wedding while catching up...

That was a great recap on an extremely funny episode. Lety was great. Now back to "el sabor de la vida". If he was so wonderful, his wife would not have left him for his friend. He is so patronizing, an Elrasmo wanna be. He does not want Lety to grow up. He wants her to remain as an overgrown child. I am sorry to see this show end, and I can't wait for it to come out on DVD legitimately. Not a ripoff copy. (hopefully with english subtitles). I can understand it pretty well, but I can't translate it word for word. I am going to miss this site. The translaters have done a great job.

Great idea! Please Melinama put tan divino over his pic.

I second the tan divino!

Marie from Mass, Instead of a board game, I would really love to have a sequel to LFMB. It would focus on the lives of all the married couples (Tomas & Alicia, Omar & Carolina, and hopefully Lety & Fernando). I just don't want to see an end to this novela. The American soaps go on forever.
I could never get tired of looking at Jaime Camill.

So come on Univision, "La Fea, the Sequel"

Thanks for the great recap, 5ft! whew, they packed a lot into a short time and you captured it all. And, very little cuartel whining! That’s such a plus. Thanks for the vocab (bajeza, mezquindad, etc.), which will be very useful at some point!

Aldo is just plain being self-righteous. I actually liked him up until now. He’s not much into forgiveness (his theory of living is that if you always tell the truth, all is well. Otherwise, look out, there’s no forgiveness!) He turned me around tonight. I was thinking I didn’t want to see him hurt, but he was just looking for a way out of marrying Lety (deep in his heart, but he’d never have admitted it if anyone pointed it out) and she gave it to him. Plus, he can be fully justified in doing so because he is the VICTIM! She wronged him! (Okay, she did, but I’m just sayin’. All the deep philosophy in the world isn’t worth a tinker’s d*** if a person has no forgiveness in his or her free-spirited, new wave soul.) Lety’s intent was never to hurt Aldo, in fact, it was the opposite and he doesn’t know her well enough to give a second thought to his indignation about her true motives.

On the other hand, I applaud Lola for letting El Cheque suffer a bit. After all, he deliberately humiliated her with the tart publicly. And lots, lots more. I think she’ll forgive but she won’t say nasty things to him, she’ll just keep her distance and not let him use her again.

Tomas really came through last night. He’s looking like he’s maturing nicely. Maybe Alicia has a chance to grow up now, too, with the support of someone who loves her so much.

“That, ladies and gentlemen, is the only scene I've seen with the two of them that hasn't completely grossed me out. I only pray they don't regress!” Hear, hear! I second that motion!

Everyone's comments were really interesting for this one....

Jeanne
