Destilando Amor 08/17/07: "Double, Double, Toil and Trouble..."

"...fire burn and cauldron bubble......"

During James and Rod's umpteenth heart-to-heart at the hacienda, Rod tells his best bud that he's determined to return to Montalveña to live out the rest of his maudlin days with his wife, and to raise this child there in hopes of forgetting the love of his life and to make sure she keeps her job at the CRT. Yep, Rod is going to let sleeping bitches lie rather than stir up trouble with The Family and start all the catcalls and hate speech all over again. Anyway, he figures that Isa and Minnie would know that he went running to Avellaneda to intercede for Gaviota and they'd be back to kick up another scandal at the Commission.

James asks Rod if he seriously thinks he can pull this emotional separation thing off 'cause he remembers the binge drinking and the 24/7 lude, crude, and rude dude Hot-Rod turned into last time. Rod says sure he can 'cause he and Gavi are sworn to remain friends. (Hubby smirks every time he hears this dandy little phrase, saying it doesn't work that way; men aren't put together like that and those screwball women writers never listen). Rod explains that he would rather keep Isa isolated there with him at the hacienda and just live for the kid with Isa in mommy mode in order to keep his promise to Gavi to stay a safe distance away. He is certain he can survive it all because now there no longer is any resentment or bitterness between the two of them, only beautiful memories.

Meantime, Avellaneda is recovering from Excedrin headache #99 (that's a generational joke, folks) and figuring out where he'll place Mariana Franco to avoid more problems from those malicious and meddlesome Mujeres de Montalvo, a.k.a., Minerva's Minions. Since the CRT needs a few days to set up the Guadalajara transfer, he asks Gavi to fill in at the Public Relations Department till they can hire the director over there a new secretary; then he sends her home for the rest of the day to recover.

As Mariana is leaving, Susy stops her and says she is dying to find out exactly what happened and if she's leaving for good. Mariana says things worked out and she's coming back the next day but will be transferring to Guadalara eventually. Susy asks her point blank about Rod and her, saying it's as plain as day (literally, the wall opposite them) that she had a love affair with the guy, so would she at least 'fess up about that?

Mariana refuses to go into detail 'cause it's a long, boring story she just finished burying. Instead she explains about her subbing stint in the P.R. department and asks about her boss there. Susy says Dr. Santaoeña is an egg-head but is very well respected by the whole organization.

Minerva, who seems to need the constant high she gets from the chaos she causes in others' lives, calls the CRT to check whether Mariana was actually fired or not. She talks to Susy who agrees to meet her for lunch and give her the details. Aaron finds her in the bedroom and asks what gives at the CRT and whether Rod's working-girl was fired or not.

Minnie says she thinks the shameless hussy is still there, but plans to find out for sure at lunch with Avellaneda's secretary and he and Isa are going to join them. Here, though, Aaron finally manages to find the key to Minnie's testicle lock-box. He pushes her back into the bed and tells her in no uncertain terms he will not! He is tired of her meddling like the old days at the corporation, and from now on the only one giving orders in that household is going to be him. Minnie seems momentarily impactada by his furious response as he storms out of the bedroom.

James finally tells Rod about his discovering that Meliton's unfortunate and untimely passing was a matter of self-defence for Acacia (Happy, happy, joy, joy!), since the old perv was literally in the wrong place at the wrong time when he went after her again.

Gavi meets Clarita at the neighborhood bar. Clarita orders a couple of doubles of tequila because she's certain the news is going to hit her like a huge stab in the back. Gavi explains how Rod stood up for her, and puts her mother's mind to rest. She explains they are not left out on the street, but that now they're going to have to move to Guadalajara to avoid more run-ins with Rod's family.

Clarita is sad to hear Gavi will have to give up her relationship with Young Mr. Rod again 'cause she knows how much it means to her. So much for happy telenovela endings they agree, like the one where the heroine ends up happily married to the hero and even has his twins......

James is scared and ashamed that in the morning he has got to put his new little bride in for psychiatric observation at a clinic in Guadalajara. He explains that Acacia's had two serious breaks with reality owing to her fear and guilt from the whole Meliton experience. Rod assures James this is the best thing and that the experts there will have all sorts of ways to help her get better. James is worried that they'll start asking questions and turn her into the police. Rod tells him to calm down. Let them do their examination, and once her condition is made clear then James should do whatever his conscience dictates.

Ofelia and San Juana are watching, meanwhile, over Acacia who has been drugged to sleep. SJ, never one to mince words, says pretty much that the handsome Mr. James must feel like he must be the second coming of Job. First he gets the grand brush off from Sofia and now he ends up involved with this ugly little thing who's going nuts on him.
=========

Next morning, Gavi thanks Demetrio for going to bat for her with Avellaneda. She offers to pitch in for him till he gets a replacement. Demetrio chuckles and says her new boss will be keeping her too busy. When Gavi enters the P.R. department she is overjoyed to see it's Nancy, of all people, from her first job at the hotel who is sitting down at the receptionist's desk. The two friends make plans for lunch to catch up on their time apart and Gavi tells her that she's changed her name from Teresa Hernandez to Mariana Franco.
==============

Well, at least we see that the new boss makes his own coffee. In fact, he offers Mariana/Gavi his own peculiar blend of espresso and asks her to try it and to tell him what she thinks. She says she is not exactly a coffee drinker and has no opinion. When he insists she says it's too strong and bitter and it could use a couple spoons of sugar. The way he describes what makes a fine tasting coffee is so erudite and poetic that Gavi, still a country girl in the big city, is pretty darned surprised that anybody could ramble on like that about a stupid cup of coffee.

So, their workday together starts and Dr. Santaoeña points out a number of flavored tequilas he was just sent that will be marketed to the younger twenty/thirty-somethings and in the midst of her trying to find his schedule book, he complains that his entire office is in chaos since his former secretary left him in the lurch. He adds, not just his office, but his entire life is in chaos. This makes Mariana stop and stare.

Back at the penthouse, Minnie irritatingly ignores Aaron's discomfort when he sees the gigantic picture and article in the society pages of the paper about them getting back together instead of him marrying Pamela Torreblanca.

Alonso rushes a mile a minute through a whole set of other instructions and demands without taking a single breath; and one of these includes setting up a meeting for exporters of tequila in the region. While absent-mindedly giving Mariana even more directions and asking for her response to proposals on fungicide and bactericidal product marketing campaigns, it suddenly occurs to him to ask for her name. She tells him but he promptly forgets it. In fact, she politely corrects him at least three times in a row about this. 'Nuff said. The dude is definitely ADDS challenged.......

Across town again, Isa and Minnie are gossiping about the photo of her and Aaron in the morning's paper. Minnie brags about the blitzkrieg move against Pamela and the Torreblancas, then insists Isa goes with her and Avellaneda's secretary, Susy, to lunch to find out what the CRT did to Mariana after they left. Minnie says she's afraid they didn't fire her after all. Isa doesn't want to at first and thinks she should wait for Rod to come home at noon.

Minnie argues she has to go with her since Rod's her husband and not Minnie's and Isa cannot allow this home wrecker and him to play her for a fool again. Isa is afraid to go any further with this business because she is sure Rod already knows what the five of them did there, and she's afraid he's going to take it out on her somehow; but, in the end, she buys Minnie's argument that the fight is righteous and that she should not allow Rod to intimidate her.

They hang up and Minnie the Malevolent says to herself that she will run this slut off every job she gets till she ends up starving. (In fact, the woman is so evil that the only thing we're missing in this scene is the maniacal cackle.....)

Fedra arrives and complains to Aaron about the article that appeared in the society page in the morning paper and the tacky way he chose to bluntly tell the whole world he has just jilted Pamela Torreblanca. He tells mama that the devil in red made him do it. Why, Minnie Mouse had him so tightly in her clutches that she was able to pull a fast one on him; and before he knew it she had blindsided him with it in the morning papers. Fedra asks him if he realizes the full consequences of handling it this way. It was totally uncalled for and Pamela didn't deserve this kind of treatment.

Just then Minnie glides in on her broomstick and makes a perfect landing. Aaron tries to stop the confrontation, but Minnie waves him off saying this is between his mother and her. She asks Fedra if she thinks she should have gone personally to Miami to the house there and asked Pammy to please hand her back her hubby-wubby. Besides, could it be that Fedra is partial to Pam and is sad to think she's losing the only opportunity of getting herself a grandchild? Well, no problem! Rest assured Minnie will get pregnant again. Or, isn't she happy that she and Aaron are back together now?

Fedra composes herself, then begins to slather it on thick with her ex-daughter-in-law. She says of course she's happy that she and Aaron are reconciled. However, when Minnie acts like a spoiled child, she has the right to correct her rude and ill-mannered methods. She insists that there was no need for Minerva to go running to the newspapers like this. Aaron agrees and calls her actions classless.

Minnie, on her high-horse, snaps back at him that she had every right, and anyway, how classy was it to have the slut move into her home and play house with her husband? Aaron reminds her that Torreblanca is a darned powerful member of the guild. Minnie sneers that Montalvo Corporation is much more respected and powerful in the tequila world than the Torreblanca organization. As far as she's concerned, the Torreblancas can gripe and complain to whomever and however they please, and for that matter so can Fedra!

At that insult, Fedra leaves in a snit. She tells them she's had enough and doesn't have to take that then stomps out. Aaron's jaw is pulsing he's so mad at Minnie. He tells her he was extremely upset at the way she spoke to his mother, but Minnie gets on her high horse with him too. This time he reacts and growls at Her Haughtiness that his patience is wearing way thin. Then Aaron viciously grabs her jaw and threatens her. "Understand this once and for all!! I will not allow it again!" He shoves her down into the nearest chair and walks out. She lets him leave and considers her next move.
===========

At the house in Miami, Gaspar and Barbara are eating breakfast when he begins to read the morning paper. Barbara sees the society news photo of Aaron and Minnie, large as life, with the huge black headline blaring that Aaron is going back to his ex. Gaspar is fit to be tied and Barbara is gasping for words. Pam shows up then and begins to eat. Gaspar shoves the paper in her face to show her he was right all along, and says what a joke agreeing to marry this Montalvo was. They are going to pack her things up that day and leave for Mexico on the next flight out.

Back in Mexico City at the penthouse, Minnie changes tactics and catches Aaron on the way out of the house. She says she realizes she went too far and promises sweetly never to abuse the family nor try his patience like that again, then kisses him sweetly on the mouth while leaving the rest of us with the uncontrollable urge to look for anything to wipe our mouth off with. That said, she tries to ever so smoothly roll him over and to slyly slip his collar back onto him, saying in her most ingenuous voice and manner, that they'll be late for their lunch with Susy so just wait while she takes a second to go for her purse.

Again Aaron reacts to this ruse and adamantly refuses to get involved or to join her. He's not sitting in on a hen party with any secretary! So she sweetly, and ingenuously, backs away and says he is right and she'll attend to it. Aaron escapes from the penthouse and slams the door in her face.

Just then Pammy calls for Aaron and Minnie takes the call. She lets The Other Woman have it with both barrels and right between the eyes in a confrontation at least as worthy as any seen on Sally Jesse. Minnie tells Pam no way she's letting her talk to her husband. Pam says she demands he face her to break it off. Minnie answers that whores and mistresses don't have rights to demand anything. She demands that Pam leave her house immediately or she will come there to drag her out by the hair herself.

Pam refuses to leave and says that she loves him. Minnie has a big laugh at this but Pammy insists she didn't accept Aaron's marriage proposal till he was already divorced. Pammy is, of course, totally oblivious at this point in her argument to the fact that before he and Minnie were legally separated, a little thing like Aaron's still being married never stopped her from sneaking around with him for long weekend trysts --but enough of picking nits, right?

Minnie replies that, "If he came back to me it's because I am the love of his life." Minnie threatens she'll call the police on her if Pammy doesn't leave the premises within the next 30 minutes. "You've been warned. Don't come near my husband again or you'll be sorry!"

Pam is beside herself with the pain and the humiliation and locks herself in the bathroom. She starts remembering Aaron's telling her that she was the only one who gave meaning to his life. "Aaron, you don't know how to love. If you did you'd have never cheated on your wife and deceived her or me this way." All she ever did was love him she says to herself. "You are a selfish man who loves only yourself, yourself and your work," she sobs.

Pam decides then to tell her parents they're returning to Mexico ASAP. First though, she has something else to take care of. They leave her alone. Pam takes the external hard-drive she's been handling like a toy key chain the past few days, and inserts it into Aaron's computer drive. "What I'm taking from you does not compare to what you've stolen from me: hope, faith, love! You've left me empty, empty, Bichito!!"

Meanwhile, Aaron goes to Patricio's office to gripe and let off steam. "What was it that you meant by telling me not to get upset over something that never was?" Pat tells him the truth about how Minnie really spent the two or three months she was divorced, faking the cruises, locking herself up in her apartment all day, and then eventually flying to Spain to attend to her gravely ill grand-aunt. "Why did you make me believe all this?" "--Love! Because Minerva loves you, above all else!" At that moment Aaron starts laughing insanely at some private joke and says a huge weight has been lifted from him. Pat is puzzled.

Pam downloads all of Aaron's "Agave Turquesa" files (his only set which he has never bothered to back up) and does something to the hard drive of his computer which looks like she's either erasing the main drive, or is destroying it some other way. "Bichi, this is my farewell gift to you!"

Patricio makes the call to the grand-aunt in Spain to prove to Aaron that this relative of Minnie's really exists and that is where she went for two months.

===========

By the time Mariana leaves Alonso's office to work on the huge stack of stuff he's got for her, Nancy and she cannot go out to lunch or for a coffee break together because there is just too much for her to get done. They agree to go out after work, though, to catch up on things.

Minnie and Isa corner Susy at lunch and start to give her the 3rd degree. Isa tells her it's important to know what's happened with Mariana Franco because her marriage depends on it. Susy tells them that they didn't really fire her That said, Minnie and Isa start telling her how Mariana has been after Isa's husband for the past 3 years despite Isa's now being pregnant. They add that she had tried to destroy both of their marriages before she left the corporation.

Next these two female hounds de Baskervilla warn her against ever trusting Mariana because she's power hungry, flirts with the bosses till she gets her way, and will step on anyone to get ahead. She loves stealing away all the secretaries' jobs!
Susy says she's never seen any funny stuff between her bosses but Avellaneda does appear to respect her greatly. They say it always happens like that everywhere she goes. Susy says that won't happen there because they plan to transfer Mariana to Guadalajara soon. However, she'll be working temporarily for a high ranking official till then.

Isa offers to pay her very well if she agrees to keep them up to date on anything that has to do with Mariana there. Susana definitely looks uncomfortable about now and quickly excuses herself without answering. Isa asks Minnie if the woman will run to Avellaneda first thing and expose them. Minnie says naw, the girl doesn't look that foolish.

Rod gets back to Mexico City and runs into Dani at Pilar's. She asks him what he found out about Gavi and if the others were involved in trying to run her off again. Rod tells Daniela how it went down at the CRT and that he and Gavi will have to live apart forever now to be sure she keeps her job. They agreed.

Rod admits he has spent the last three years running like a loon to catch and keep Gaviota, and he never figured it would have to end this way. He feels empty inside; but he plans to return to the hacienda and to start a new life without her. He will refuse to continue at the corporate offices to avoid the off chance of running into her.

Back at the restaurant Minnie and Isa agree that as long as Mariana is at the CRT she'll continue to be a pain in the family's backside. Isa plans to demand that Rod return with her to the hacienda until Mariana Franco no longer works at the CRT. She just knows though he'll try to find whatever excuse he can to keep on seeing her, and Isa's life will be hell. Minnie suggests they both go to Pilar and ask her to force Rod to do this for Isa.

Dani begs Rod to pay attention to her. She says trying to avoid Gaviota, let alone trying to live without her, is foolish. He knows his life will be never be complete and he will never be at peace without her with him. Besides, the last thing he should do is abandon her to that pack of hyenas. After all, as soon as those women returned to Mexico City they totally ignored his warnings and raced to the CRT and kicked up a fuss with Avellaneda to get her fired again. Those women, she continues, will constantly interfere in his life if he doesn't do something to stop them. He must stay as the head of the corporate offices to keep an eye on Gavi, because otherwise if she is anywhere within reach of their claws they'll grab her and tear her to pieces. He has to protect her........

GREAT RECAP JARDINERA,
YOU REALLY MAKE THE EPISODE COME TO LIFE AND DOT ALL THE I'S AND CROSS ALL THE T'S.
IT'S A REAL PLEASURE TO WAIT FOR SATURDAY, BECAUSE WE KNOW WHAT A SUPERIOR RECAP IS WAITING FOR US.
THANKS AGAIN.

Amen, excellent recap.
Muchissimas gracias a Jardinera,

de la peliroja.

thanks jardinera!!

if gavi and rod ever get together, they owe dani the maid of honor spot!

I can not comprehend how Rod talks of staying with esa for the rest of his life, with all that she has done. She has shown that she is a bad person, caddy, jealous, deceiving, lying and the cheating he doesn't even know about yet.

Great recap! What a pair Isa an Minnie are!! Funny that all they do is plot against Gavi. Maybe they need lives!!!??? Or get jobs! Jeez!

As for Rod...I'm afraid he will probably find out about everything really, really late in this novela!

I think what Pam did was make a copy of his dB of Blue Tequila..I went back and looked at the last computer scene and it was really blurry, but it looked like a directory listing done thru dos...maybe she did wipe out the computer, but she also got a copy of his database..I'm sure as big an AssHat as Aaron is that he had all his mal deeds in detail.

Rod just thinks that he has treated Isa badly..cause she loves him so much and he will never love her. Since Rod didn't actually reach puberty until about 45, I'm thinking a breakthru regarding his wife's bad actions will come to light like the day before the fin.

Sorry I got carried away with the computer stuff...
Thanks for a very enjoyable recap..

Thanks for the recap Jardinera. I'm glad at least Dani is there to talk some sense into Rod. The writers really need to do something new with Minnie and Isa. I won't be happy until I see their WWE style smack down and know that won't be until the end (at least it better be). At least if the coven are going to try to take Gavi out, Rod needs to man up and stop being the naive galan. Its not like the brujas will stop going after her so he needs to develop intelligent (yeah, I know) tactics to battle them. Then at least we viewers could have some pleasure knowing Minnie (and Isa) are not raging unchecked until the finale.

Muchissimas gracias a Jardinera for her great recap!
Was Pam actually aware enough of Aaron's slimy negiocios that she would make a backup? I would think that by saying this was her goodbye gift, she was erasing important stuff that he needed...Did anyone see whether the files were going into another folder or the trash?. SOOO curious.
Because I am also watching AMAR SIN LIMITES, I am a little disappointed with Rene Strickler showing up at this time. When one novela is just about to end and one of the actors shows up on a new show, I can handle it....but this is confusing to me--to see him in these 2 different roles. Does anyone else have this feeling by chance?

Anyone know just how near Gudalajara is to Tequila? I assumed it was the closest city to the hacienda which would be pretty good.
I'm also a little confused. Is the job with Rene Strickler an interim job until she goes to Guadalajara? Someone explain...I think I missed something here.

yes she did copy the database for his "famous Turquoise Tequila", that much I made out for sure. (I used to work with database, before I was a total slacker)..the other files were a directory listing in dos, but don't know if she deleted them. She did something though or you would never see the dos on a window format..

Who knew? I assumed she was just standing by the pool, but I guess she filled all that empty time thinking of something (like screwing Aaron over)

Tequila, is about 30 miles from Guad., (the Montalvos always fly in there).

I am so bias after LFMB, against anglo interlopers..I know, I know but please...I always just lump Juan Soler, Guy Eckert & Rene Strickler into the same group..it's really funny, my Mexican husband gets them confused. I just so don't want another do gooder..that is everything the galan isn't like smart & trustworthy & full of sage advice. I think it is okay if they introduce another person cause well, it happens in real life people have to make choices, but I don't want it to turn into a doubting their orginal love thing. Cause this has been set up as a be all end all, so please don't let Gavi think she doesn't love Rod and now she should go open a fish store by the ocean, until Rene Strickler tells her she really loves Rod (cause she is too stupid to know it), and then he becomes an angel and Rod becomes sloppy seconds...
Diclaimer..in no way was I referring to an TeleNovela that aired earlier in the year..any similarities are purely coincidental.

Thank you for the detailed recap, Jardinera.
I was thinking the same thing, Beckster, when I saw Rene Strickler. I kept saying Aldo aloud.
I had trouble in figuring out what Pamela was doing on the computer because she was working with DOS. It has been awhile. I do believe that she was erasing the files, but I am not sure, because she could have merely formatted her disk and what what on the disk would have been erased.
Did anyone have trouble reading Wednesday's recap?

Yvette

Ha Ha - Minnie the Manevolent- too funny! I am really starting to like Fedra- can you believe it? Even Fedra believes that Minnie is being too cruel to Pam. I hope Susy-Q does not go over to the dark side...

Fedra is concerned about the consequences when Pamela's powerful parents find out what is happening to their precious daughter.

Tks to everyone for your generous praise! 6=8 ? ))

I knew beckster, you or someone with better computer background than me, would understand what the racing DOS screen might mean. According to Esmas she copied Aaron's Agave Turquesa files onto the external drive (the white and blue portable keychain looking thing which she just pockets afterwards) off the USB(?), then activates the firewall and deactivates the anti-virus. Please explain as I know only enough to sound foolish here! Sounds like she purposely let in some major virus to thoroughly corrupt the files instead of perhaps totally erasing them. I'm happy to correct the recap either way. But, I do remember him screaming at Minnie last week that he had to go back to the Miami house because that computer had all of his Turquesa files and was the only place he could work on them.

--Maybe he didn't back them up because of all the really incriminating evidence on them and we remember that Pam eavesdropped on Aaron and Oñate when they were discussing the illegal shipments. She's been in the biz long enough to know what this might mean, and if nothing else, giving them over to Gaspar will be like lighting a cigarette inside a fireworks factory. (Yes!!)

Thanks Jardinera for the excellent detail!

I guess because the Montalvos are a powerful tequila family, Susy couldn't decline the invitation to lunch. But I'm seriously hoping she doesn't turn into an informer for the Montalvo Wifes' Club. She's seemed normal and unbiased up to this point.

I'm very disappointd with Patricio telling Aaron the real scoop on Minnie's activities (or lack thereof). Sure, it might be fun to watch Aaron's reaction, but now he has more amunitition in his ass-hat arsenal.

Lynne: Yes, I agree. Fedra is the one with all the diplomatic savvy here. If it weren't for Amador's crazy will, she might not have completely gone over to the dark side with Aaron and Minerva. For better or for worse, she's been a true diplomat and may still be able to ward off the brunt of Gaspar's anger.

However, I doubt she can for very long. Minnie has thrown one too many wrenches into the works and has really overplayed her hand by refusing to let her talk to Aaron and by not letting Aaron out of her sight or allowing him to get back to Miami and cover his tracks or to let somebody smooth things over with Pamela and her family some way. Minnie only wanted a quick and dirty revenge, not the best kind which the wise men say is always best served cold.

Minnie doesn't know from computer backups or business files and accounts or public/diplomatic relations. She only went to finishing school for rich bitch elites and, as the phrase was when I was growing up, "she only went to school to get her M.R.S."

Ha! I had forgotten this phrase from 50's and 60's! "she only went to school to get her 'M.R.S' "
OMG- This phrase so perfect for MtM (Minnie the Malevolent) and the rest of these super wealthy women in our telenovelas who do absolutely nothing but scheme day in and day out while digging their nails deeper and deeper into their treasured hubbys. I mean, what kind of life is this? I could understand if they had children or sick parents to care for. Not that we don't have American ladies like this but at least they sit on boards and do volunteer work---sometimes.
I wonder how common this is in current Mexico among the privileged. ?

p.s. --Don't get too uptight about the Argentine invasion of Mexican telenovelas. Remember you've got Fernando, Cesar, Mauricio I, Sergio, Eduardo Y and Eduardo S, Jaime and I'm sure a few others I don't know or forgot about. =/ ; ? )

I didn't see LFMB cuz I don't care much for goofy humor, but I do see that we need a test of loves for each of the leads to demonstrate that theirs is a pure and everlasting love for real.

Also, I foresee the lady psych, with Patty M., returning to help Acacia and trying her luck with Rod. I foresee René as Gavi's protector within the CRT and as Rod's impetus to either fish or cut bate and dump Isa, cuz that is long overdue, no matter whether he finds out she cheated or not.

And we thought silicone-lipped Pam was just sitting by the water all day deciding which robe to put on. But no! She had her thinking cap on, after all.
In today's NYT book review magazine, a woman was described as a "dangling participle," meaning she had no purpose in life. I thought that was an excellent description for our Mexican ladies of leisure.

Well I don't know..really but if you deactivated anti-virus, well you would have to then open something that had a virus...(see Y&R, where dumb kid surfed porn & let in a virus...most virus's now don't crash systems, they just copy data..like personal #SS numbers financial etc..) but still in all it got the job done.

Beckster: Pardon what may be a dumb question, but why are those men "anglo interlopers?" Do they have a mixed background? Please fill me in.

Well true they are by nationality whatever country they were born in or adopted, and indeed south america has a much higher percent of European stock than for example Mexico...I am just being snarky, cause these guys are always the upper class, you never see them as the Hilario type role.

When my husband and I first started watching TeleNovelas and all the blonde people would come on...he'd always say...(he is from Mx), I never saw any people who looked like that in Mexico..and I started watching the last names of the actors..well yeah..many are germanic or eastern european.

Anon. 12:53pm: Welcome!

We have been addressed in recent days by a few anonymous accusatory posters, so I don't know if you or some of the lurkers are regulars here or not, but if you read us regularly you will note that much of what we post consists of tongue-in-cheek humor, pun plays, and various other expressed types of cerebral wit which do not always sit well with people who are more literal-minded. For that we excuse ourselves with the disclaimers at the top of the site, but we do not necessarily apologize. =/ : 3 )) Around here we seem to share the attitude that President Harry Truman held: "If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen."

We bend over backwards to allow ample free expression, negative or positive, even when some gross or crude slang and descriptives come into play. The idea is that if it is tactless or gross enough then that poster will be intelligent enough by the tone of the responses to that post to realize they've made a faux pas and will refrain from repeating the socially unacceptable error. --Now, if in very extreme cases they do not and/or if it breaks Melinama's rules either she or the recapper of the episodio retains the right to censor. To date only spoilers and comments about actors' personal lives have been censored I believe.

Regarding beckster's quip, European immigrants are only 10-15% of the Mexican population. Most Mexicans are a mix of some sort with the indigenous people. It is no secret that the Europeans (decendents of anglo-saxon as well as goth populations) came to the New World. The came, they saw, they conquered. They intermarried.

It is also no secret that actors in Mexico with European features generally take the choicest roles. Fernando Colunga and Eduardo Yañez or say, Yadhira Carillo, are the most obvious mixed-featured actors that come to mind who have successfully broken the mold. There is a mold and that is all that I believe beckster was loosely referring to.

Jardinera, I give you credit for being a very good recapper. I always enjoy yours. That's the good news. On the other hand, regarding the heated kitchen remark that you quoted, the kitchen has a door that swings both ways. In other words, if you can't stand the heat of the comments you can leave. As good as you are, you are not dispensible. Apparently you havent noticed that some people seem to joining groups and blogs just to stir things up. Those kind are best ignored rather than making attempts to reason with them or make quotes or comments that can be perceived as inviting a match.

oops, that's supposed to be "you are not indispensible".

jardinera...
Thanks so much you expressed it better than me..
and just so you all don't think I have something against anglos..not true..my relatives that came on the Mayflower, were the late comers, the others were at Jamestown (seriously had to do the family thing & yeah we were surprised & everyone of them from england)..

But this is my point, I have been with my husband for twenty years, I have been to Mexico, I have been to endless festivals, functions and people do not look like the TeleNovela people. Watch the people on the TeleNovelas that are on the street or in the audience like the Machete Dance, that is how the people actually look..it is nothing like the TeleNovela.
That is why I think it is so funny, it is so unreal.

Also notice all the jimidors are dark and the check out the servants in the houses

Beckster I agree. Telenovela Land is not different from American soap operas, until recently people of color, latin and asian descent were far and few if at all.

Beckster - I love the insight you provide into REAL Mexican culture, it's one of the things that keep me coming back to this blog.

Again, Jardinera, I appreciate the great detail - since I can't use the CC (boring story), I just have to listen. I've started recording the shows and going back and watching again once I read the excellent recaps. This is helping my comprehension immensely.

I'm an outsider to Mexican culture and still a newbie to the language, so I so appreciate what this blog provides.

I know I am repeating myself from other posts, but the point I want to make is that a lot of us really appreciate your hard work and willingness to share your knowledge and insights. I don't want sour grapes and sensitive reactions to make you forget that!

Anon 5:20pm -- Thanks, I think?

Please explain your comment: "In other words, if you can't stand the heat of the comments you can leave. As good as you are, you are not [in]dispensible." and "Those kind are best ignored rather than making attempts to reason with them or make quotes or comments that can be perceived as inviting a match." I would hope "you" is meant generally, but I fear it is not. If you are making this personal, then you are validating my reason for having written that long disclaimer paragraph in the first place.

The irony is that, in fact, in addition to Melinama, the episodio's recapper has the zap button and decides who that day is "[in]dispensible". Note: I did say "Welcome!" to that questioner, AND neither you nor others were dispensed with!

Now, I refer you to the Sat. posting below and if you saw it, then you'd understand why I wrote what I did and tried to clarify, if perhaps a bit too clumsily or too harshly, why beckster and others' posts may seem to you or others to be "inviting a match" and thus needed a refereed "attempt" at "reason" by the recapper in charge of/hosting this page today.

"...Please let's not encourage anymore cruel remarks from the Anon who hates Isa so much that she wants to hurt the baby. In her (or his) twisted way of thinking, she was just going a step further with the cruel remarks she interpreted others were making. I've belonged to so many other groups in the past that didn't last because of ingroup fighting. I wouldn't want to see that happen to this blog. Last but not least, I'm coming to Isa's defense because I happen to like her."

Jardinera^^^Thanks for your excellent detailed recap. My fireman friend would call Isa and Minervaaa...oxygen-wasters. They need to get lives ...jobs, hobbies, friends....and stop tattling on Gavi all the time. Was Rene S. Joslyn's ill-fated first hubby in ''Mundo?'' ..the one she killed twice ? He seems to be popping up a lot. Maybe he just bought a new vacation home in Cancun and needs to moonlight a bit. Someday I hope that Gavi learns what a staunch supporter Dani has been. Pammie finally sees the true AAron...a selfish hombre who only loves only himself...she finally can see him clearly .[''You cheated ; you lied; you said that you loved me.''] It looked to me as if information was being sent from one file to another at one point while Pammie was watching the screen with red eyes and puckered lips. Thanks, Jardinera for the great job. I appreciate it. Has anyone heard anything about the PIRATE novela ???

Rhonda: Thanks again! Glad you are learning from this site. That's something all of us do here most of the time.
========
Susanlynn: Wondered if you were still hunched over grading final exams this weekend. Not only was he the ex-hubby for Jocelyn, but he was the galan for Lauara Flores in "Piel de Otoño" and can that man wear a mean turtleneck and blazer! If you get a chance to see that telenovela or to tape it on Grandes Historias, then do. It is worth it and a few steps above much of what Uni/Televisa has been feeding us these past few years.

As for Pirates and "Pasión", Susana Gonzales (the beautiful black-haired lawyer in Heridas) is the lead and Fernando's love interest. It starts now mid-Sept. in Mexico, which means the end of Nov. for us, I believe. tv.noti-blogs.com has some more recent pictures. Susana G. has red, wavy, locks in this one.

Thanks for the information, Jardinera~~~I finished posting my grades Thursday night, but my older daughter and I hosted a shower for her sister this weekend, so I've been too busy to drop by here. Wonder where Sylvia is...I miss her. Looks like Melinama has returned from her trip. I'm excited about the PIRATES arriving in November !!!!

Oh - Susana Gonzales was Babe Lawyer? Cool!

So... coffee is to Alonso as the sea is to Aldo. Gag. But at least this guy isn't full of pseudo-New Age platitudes. Who knows - once Gavi is up to speed, maybe she can even give this guy a run for his money.

I finally got around to Thursday's episode and I can add one little piece of info to the mystery of why Aaron went back to Minerva. He told Patricio that he did it to show her that she wouldn't ever find a man who was better than him! He was going to continue seeing Pam on the side, and as soon as Pam got knocked up, Minnie could just go to hell. But then Minnie turned on him, and got mean! Waaaaaah!!!

So there you go. That's Aaron's lame excuse.

After watching the computer scene a couple of times, I agree with the consensus: she copied over Aaron's incriminating files, and evidently reformatted his hard disk or did some other destructive thing to it - something that would take more IT proficiency than most of us were probably expecting from her. :)

I'm loving this side of Pamela, and I'm glad there's more to her than first met the eye!

And just think - now there are TWO women who have the goods on Aaron. Ah, the sweet perfume of vengeance... smells like tequila. :)

I hope that when Meester James takes Acacia to see the shrink that he has made himself an appointment as well. I have never, ever seen or heard a sane man sound or buck his eyes the way James does. Also, his whole idea about falling in love needs to be checked out by a shrink.

Susanlynn: Shower? Would this be a baby shower? I think you said all 3 of your girls? were married already.
=========
Julie: In a way of speaking, I figure Aaron was screwed no matter which babe he went for.--Personally, I don't think Aaron thinks any woman has a brain that uses more than the involuntary nervous system to function! Pammy, despite her bubble-lips, actually writes poetry on that computer of his and even knows what to do with an external drive and how to destroy information on that computer! Although monkey business has been her primary stock in trade, what she accomplished with this act is not exactly monkey-see, monkey-do. She had us all fooled!

To Jardinera - I read into that comment the same way you did. I thought wow. Definitely was not called for. Is that the same person that made the comment about Esa's baby? I know when that comment came on screen, I cringed. I thought to myself. I can't stand Esa, but to make those remarks about her smelling and the baby. That was sooooo cruel. I think I made the first comment against the remark and I sort of got the message back that we are all aloud to express ourselves, DUH. Maybe we need exceptions to the "Freedom of Speech" rule in this country. PS, I don't get the comments about Gavi's new boss being like aldo?? He is definitely not like aldo on Amor sin limites. He appears nice but he is not. Is it just that he looks like he is nice, like Aldo?? Or you all know more about him and the roles he usually plays Ret.

With regards to people on Telenovelas being different than the acutal mexicans. I was confused too. I was in cancun and alculpoco (my spelling is bad). Most of the people I saw were on the heavy side, wore colorful clothing and were dark complected with dark hair. I asked my tutor how come they are so different on novelas; however, one of the recappers on lafea explained some of the reasons like wanting to look more american and that they also get the better acting jobs??

Ret: You're right, it was more than a bit distasteful, but I didn't zap it, although I had to make a great effort not to. I think you made my point for me. The person who made it was and stays anonymous, but has not attempted to make similar comments.

I have only seen Rene Strickler in the nice guy galan roles..when referring to Aldo..that is a reference to LFMB, the role was played by Juan Soler..., he came on the show in the last six months..he was everything the very flawed hero was not, he was "swell", women and men both adored him, he was a new-age guru, who actually turned out to be an angel, but he was flawless, while the hero continue to make mistakes...but alas he was annoying and about as much fun as a STD..noble but not fun

I still say that seeing Rene Strickler in this role which most likely will be the brilliant , distracted, a little ditsy, poetic, romantic guy who sweeps Gavi away (a far out guess, but...!) is very confusing for me as I watch his subtly evil role in AMAR SIN LIMITES at the exact same time. I just don't like that. My brain can wrap itself around ONE man as two different characters within one hour of each other every night.

SORRY. I meant CAN'T WRAP ITSELF AROUND...., (not CAN WRAP ITSELF AROUND)

Anonymous 5:20, you were way out of line. You are not understanding the critical difference between a recapper and a commenter. Without the recaps there would be no comments, and in fact, no blog, so no, Jardinera is not leaving, and when people are disrespectful to our bloggers, I tend to zap their comments. I need the recappers, I do not need ungrateful, huffy trolls.

Melinama, I was wondering if you would mind telling us about your vacation. I understand the allure of Istanbul. I think you also went to Bulgaria. I know little of it - did you go there for family reasons. I love to travel - going to Italy in November.

I think I read an interesting write up about a resort in Bulgaria in Condé Nast last year. Lots of historical interest there they said. The pictures looked inviting. So how was it?

I have just been reading the comments here this morning..I live in an Hispanic neighborhood here in Florida, predominately Mexican. I never seen any Mexican in my "hood" that resemble any characters on the novelas, but more like the third tier actors and those in the crowd scenes..

I recall a few months back of a video I saw on YouTube of Martha Julie (Isadora)standing in a line at an airport in Mexico..With all the bleach hair extensions, skirt up past modesty, she stood out like a sore thumb. All around her were the real Mexicans staring at her.

Could it be possible that the stars of the novelas must have more of generic look? I think the "look" must have broad appeal,as these novelas are broadcast all around the world..

Yes, a new love interest for Gavi & possibly one for Rod,or at least a pretense,to stretch out this love story to the end..

I'd much rather see the four wicked witches of the west get their just reward as to see Gavi & Rod together..What a day it will be when clueless Sofia finds out about Frankie the sleeze & Isadora..Go running back to James?

Melinama, I am a God fearing Born again Christian. I am also Anglo Saxon. I belong to the elite Republican party. I am financially well off. So, your name does not apply to me. In any case, how do you define ungrateful huffy troll? If you're trying to say that I'm a poor whore or anything similar you are mistaken. You guys can make some pretty damaging remarks to ones ego. I'm just trying to set the record straight since you aimed your remark directly at me.

Jardinera^^^I have 2 daughters. The younger is married and is a teacher who lives near me [that's who the shower was for...she's having her first baby in early October.] My elder daughter is not married yet. She works for a big corporation . She is very organized and hyper and had ALL the baby clothes , blankets, towels washed, dried , organized and stowed away the morning after the shower ! She makes my head spin. Planning the shower with her was an experience ! She is very good at deligating tasks...many of which fell to me. It's been a crazy summer. The telenovelas and these recaps are a nice escape at this very hectic time in my life! I often say to myself, ''Well, my life is crazy, but at least I'm not one of the Destilando mujeres.'' I am way to busy to tattletail on someone at a corporation or hang out at bars singing and doing shots of tequila...although I have sipped my share of wine coolers on the patio this summer in between growing 14 pots of pink impatiens for centerpieces and making bookmarks and filling 40 glass shakers with''sugar and spice''for the favors...making a painting for the baby's room, painting flowers on a bookcase and little chair .

Dear Anonymous 10:29...I can't speak for Melinama but I can address the words which seem to be causing confusion.
Ungrateful...pretty obvious. Recappers put in hours and hours of work and editing to prepare these synopses for us. They are precious, not "dispensable"
Huffy-means offended and showing it...taking offense
troll...refers to someone acting in a loutish, boorish manner. someone with no tact or sensitivity. And you're right, words hurt, so we all need to be more careful about how we use them.

Judy B.

No attacking our recappers, who spend much of their valuable time with their insight & indepth details of the shows we love, and for making us laugh so much of the time...If you are in disagreement with anyone here, and most of us have been together thru our various novelas for a long time and recognize that we are novela friends..I say own your comments by posting a name instead of anonymous..We don't all agree,as we have different opinions of the characters we love & don't love, and I'm sure about many other things in life.. Thanks,Maureen

Thanks, Melinama for your defense of Jardinera. Most of us are very grateful to you bloggers and all the hard work you do for no pay. It's just amazing that you get these negative comments. Please forget about the nutcase fringe who occasionally stumble onto these sites.

Thanks, Melinama and others, for your supportive words. I have to admit that I don't recap just out of the goodness of my heart - I do it because it's fun and it's good for my Spanish. But it's a lot more fun because clever, insightful people are reading and enjoying the recaps too and sharing their thoughts.

But... you can't please everyone. If there are additional people who are spending time reading and commenting here too even though it offends them, well, that's par for the course on the Internet. I'm relieved that it took this long for them to show up. What I don't get is why such people don't create their own blog for recaps that are more to their liking.

Thank you to Melinama & Jardinera and all of the recappers for their hard work. This blog is not only educational it also makes life enjoyable. For those negative people, I like to call them Earth disturbers. Enough said. :)

Dear recappers!
All of you do a wonderful work helping us, less knowledgeable in Spanish, to immerse ourselves into the new culture! Also, it became like a club.
So, if somebody doesn't accept the rules of this "club" you are welcome not to read, not to post and the main thing - NOT TO OFFEND recapper!
Eve

To change the subject ( I hope ):
About Mexican looking leading men.
Are any of you ladies old enough to remember Gilbert Roland, born and bred in Mexico? His father was a bullfighter and he started in movies in early 1900's.
He as absolutely gorgeous and looked like a Mexican (yum). He also played the Cisco kid and kept his looks, physical charm and everthing else up into his 70's.
He always wore leather bands around his wrists. I don't think I ever saw him without them.
He died in 1982 and I still miss him.

Anon. 10:29 am --
I'm breaking my cover just for you, because I am extremely glad to know that now there are at least two of us elite Republicans who figure they're mighty well off and proud of it, too. I'm about as red a Red-stater as you will find; my former crumb-crunchers were Rush babies; I do not typically ride around in a truck with a gun rack and a white hood(note: trucks & gunracks good, white hoods bad) as I'm sure you don't either. I have a masters' degree and am extremely politically savvy, but you will notice I have never lit into beckster when she craftily goes after "W" and his administration. (Anyway, as his daddy used to say, it just wouldn't be prudent.....)

?; >)

I will also lay claim to being God-fearing, but not to the Born-again Christian, Anglo-Saxon, part, though I married one 35 years ago! (Well, Saxon-Goth)

Please calm down. Just sign in with a screen name and join us. We are a 21st century book club and we let our hair down here because (as we've discussed many times here) these are celophane cutouts and nothing more! These are phantoms of someone else's imagination who can never get hurt by anything we ever say about them.

alice: Yes! I remember Gilbert Roland. He was my mother's generation, but thanks to AMC and its precursors, I've seen numerous films of his. He remains one of the early greats! I used to wait for the Cisco and Pancho serials to come on in the afternoons when I was little.

Susanlynn: Wow! Now, I bet I know where daughter #1 gets her energy and spunk from!! Congratulations, BTW.

Jardinera - political convictions - funny :)). Who would really agree with everyone on everything! As for religion, I find it interesting to see the strong influence that the Catholic Church has on the characters. But again maybe the Catholic Church would not want to own some of these charcters in the novela. Beckster has pointed out with great humour how the characters use prayers for their own ends.

I knew nothing about the Virgin of Guadalupe until I saw Gavi and Clarita asking her to intercede for them - but of course always the way that they wanted things to be.

Who is Anon 10.29? What does being an elite Republican have to do with talking about the novelas here on the blog? Does it make any difference to others here that I'm a Liberal Democrat? Hell no..

Exactly.

Hi. Could you recappers who use only your username in your contact info tell us your real name so we can connect your photo on the left with your blog username. Thanks.

Lynn: Are you going to Florence? and do you plan to see the Uffizi Gallery there? I am interested in seeing it sometime. I want to eventually see all of Italy. Hubby was there during his Navy stint, but I've never been.

Well, the dialogue with our god-fearing Republican (BTW we do not do political put-downs here, this is a BLOG FOR PEOPLE WHO ENJOY NOVELAS, whether they choose to mock or not!!! And whatever your politics as long as you leave them at the gate) dissatisfied visitor has made it clear that you can offend some of the people all of the time. Once again: if you don't like the blog, don't visit. Go start your own blog.

Now, to all of our grateful, funny, articulate, interesting contributors who "get" what we're doing here: thank you. Without you there would be no blog.

carole: Do not feel offended. Others may want to but I have decided to opt out for a bit more privacy and independence; I've even opted to remove my picture. The net has gone wildly out of control what with picture phones and wireless uploads and youtube/myspace craziness, identity theft and you name it.

The only thing I fear from is God is that he will get busy and forget to save me from all the God Fearing people, but so far he has done a good job.

Alice - I googled Gilbert Roland. Very nice! :) I like those "manly" looking men. (My husband always flexes his muscles when I say that!) I might have to check out some of those older shows.

I grew up in the late 70s and early 80s. Ponch from Chips was a HUGE crush for me (I know, he's Puerto Rican not Mexican, but still!)

Wow, I've missed two days and lots of dialog! I enjoy all the different views we get with one telenovela. Many thanks to the recappers, who always make me smile.

I was just wondering what's up with Rod and Gavi being "friends" and doing the Harry met Sally thing...
jb

I love reading the recaps and really appreciate you guys. Do Political and racial likes or dislikes really need to be mentioned and can't we just enjoy the novelas?? I have lived in Mexico City and contrary to what I have read in today's responses, there are a lot of people who look like the rich in the telenovelas. They are the RICH class. I feel the novelas are popular because of this. Just like here when everyone was crazy about Dallas and Falcon Crest, etc. The rich seem to be interesting to many (don't forget Paris Hilton). If you know Mexican History, the french and spanish came and stayed. The lighter skin people of Mexico are descendants of these europeans. Just like in this country, there are different classes and colors of people.

Nancy, et al:
No, politics should never enter into this except as it might relate to a novela theme. I am sorry, but I was trying to make a point. AFter this I hope we will all just move along to the next Rod and Gavi show.

Jardinera, I was planning to go on my own - then I would have spent a lot of time in Florence. However, I decided to go on a tour as I want to go to the Tuscan Hill towns. A few years ago I rented a car in France in the Loire Valley - never againg will I drive in Europe without a navigator. Freeways are great but getting in and out of the towns with narrow streets. They are very quaint - but not for driving. So I'll have to get around to looking at the intinerary in detail. I'm going to DC for a week in September - brother lives there - so I've got a lot to read.

Jardinera^^^You would love Florence. It is magnificent. My younger daughter studied there for a semester when she was in college, and the family visited her for a week. The Uffizi[former offices of the Medici] is wonderful ..filled with unbelievable works of art. One night after dinner, hub and I walked to the Arno River which flows right by the Uffizi and a guy was playing the violin...I sat down and cried. It was like a dream come true. My favorite works were the enormous paintings by Botticelli. I stood in front of one huge masterpiece for an hour gazing at a piece of lace that looked real. We also saw Michelangelo's gigantic David..breathtaking...in a different museum [the Academia]. We traveled to nearby Fiesole [with Etruscan ruins] and Sienna and the girls went to Venice and Cinque Terra . If you get a chance, you must go to Florence. It was every art course I've ever taken come to life. The whole city is a museum. The architecture is impressive..especially the Duomo which is a huge cathedral completely made of green, white, and pink marble.

I have a comment to make about this and all the other comments that have nothing to do with the novela. I'm writing out of frustration. I always enjoy the recaps and usually look forward to the comments. I was disappointed with these comments. It took me a very long time to read through 71 comments. Yet, I can count the number on 1 hand that were applicable to the novela itself. Ladies, some people with a negative self image feel a sense of power when they are able to engage so many people in conversation. They purposely write things that are controversal and apt to rub people the wrong way. I wish there was another way to deal with distractors other than give them so much time and space on the blog.

I want to clarify that the comments I am referring to are only the ones directed at the person sending in negative and annoying coments. I enjoy the ones about other members and their likes and dislikes.

Jardinera. Thanks for replying to my question about connecting photos and usernames. I totally understand and accept your need for privacy! My 98 year old uncle always says that it is so much more fun to create his own image of what people may look like from their voice or their writing, which is why he never purchased a TV- has only listened to the radio and read books his whole life!! :)
I live for these phenomenal recaps and commentary; I confess: It is my daily therapy. I'm captivated by the intriguing mix of intellect and chistoso commentary! I am always telling my non-hispanic friends that I learn more about life from these telenovelas (and your comments) than from anything else on tv.
You cannot imagine how much we all appreciate this blog.

Lynn/Susanlynn: my mouth is watering to hear you discuss it and I am so envious! I am not formally schooled in art, but I've absorbed a lot because my kids and hub and his family are accomplished artists and my daughter has her degree in art. OMG, I am also one of those people who can stand in front of a famous painting and concentrate on the lifelike details for an hour at a time!! It used to drive my kids and husband crazy, too!

My favorites are the Flemmish and Dutch Masters. Ver Meer takes my breath away. However, I've been fortunate enough to have seen The Louvre, The Orsay, L'Orangerie (sp?), and Versaille, plus the British Museum and the National Gallery while in Paris and London. Didn't see any artworks in Andalucian part of Spain, though we were in Seville, and all along the Costa del Sol, etc. Anyway, Italy is the next adventure and I only hope I can manage it before they have to roll me through in a wheelchair!

Wow! Got home from work, did some laundry and then read Caray Caray! What a lot of comments!

Susanlynn, I hope before I die that I can visit Florence, or any where in Europe, for that matter!

Caray, Caray!!!! Gotta love it!

carole: Your 98 yr old uncle sounds like a real charmer and someone who would be a totally engaged and engaging individual. The elders of society are often ignored or shunted away somewhere these days and all that wonderful cultural history and valuable life-experience is lost on those of us who might otherwise benefit.

"I live for these phenomenal recaps and commentary; I confess: It is my daily therapy. I'm captivated by the intriguing mix of intellect and chistoso commentary!" --I would say we all are of a like mind, those of us who frequent here. Melinama has created quite an oasis. Sort of a new twist on "If you build it, they will come."

p.s. that's supposed to be Versailles with an S!! --

Sorry, but this is another comment not novela related. Yes, please go to Italy. Florence and the Ufizzi and the David are magnificent. Everywhere I went in Italy was awesome. I went with two people and ended up alone for two weeks in Italy and it was just awesome. Taking the trains between cities is easy.
