Destilando Amor -- Tuesday August 7

Pamela and he Bichie are arguing...Pamela is upset, she feels that Aron just wants a fertile womb for his child. Aron doesn't deny it...

Gaviota, at the hacienda, sees her old house burnt. She cries wand wants to stay the night next to the burnt house...Rosa and Serafina say they can't stay with her, cuz they have to be up for the jima next day. She says she'll help with the jima. She cries as she recites that these ashes are all that are left of them and that the place is now "empty like her heart". She drinks tequila... Rosa comes to console her; they decide to have a bonfire and accompany each other.

In Miami, Pamela and Aron are arguing at the cocktail party. Aron leaves; Fedra tells Pamela to give him back the documents. Pamela cries to Fedra asking for mercy...little does she know Fedra is not capable of any emotions except for her little boy. Fedra hisses back asking her to give her son his documents and compares Pamela to Minnie. Pamela is tired of not being allowed to an opinion. Aron walks in and hears her....he's mad....you know when he's dead serious and the side of his head (right next to his eye) comes out like a blowfish??

At his home, Mr James remembers what Acacia told him about killing Meliton. Meanwhile at her house, Acacia is crying inconsolably that Mr James left her and even after dead her uncle keeps hurting her....then she hears Meliton laughing...she yells hysterically asking him to leave...

At the coctail party, Fedra is trying to console Pamela with some alcohol. Aron abruptly goes to the piano where a guy is playing and bangs his hand against the keyboard... he asks for everyone's attention: ladies and Gentlemen...I have news for you!! Fedra jumps in and interrupts...quietly tells Aron that pamela took his passport to prevent him from going to Minnie. Aron gives pamela the look of death as she gives him his passport and tells him: I lost you already, right bichito?? I'm sorry...I'm sorry...!! They hug. Aron's still mad though, cuz the little bone on the side of his head is out again.

At the hacienda, by the bonfire, Gavi is drinking as she remembers her good ol times with Rod. Meanwhile, Rod, in his sleep, says "te amo gaviota...". We get a reminder of the chronological order of past events. Next to Rod, Isa, sleeping wakes up and hears Rod talking to Gaviota in his sleep.

Next morning, Gaviota is cutting agaves...not bad considering she must have a hangover. She sings, while wearing completely different and more sensual outfit than everyone else, while the 'ay gavotte' CD playas in the background.... I wish they didn't make that so obvious. In his room, Rod wakes up to her singing. He looks out the window, gosh, I must say the scenery view out his window is gorgeous...the mountains....ah. He gets ready to leave... Isa wakes up, hears Gavi. Isa: is that Gavi?? Rod: I don't know. Rod leaves as she yells at him to say. We see a closeup of Isa and I notice her makeup even though she just woke up. Anyhoo, soon everyone is singing along with Gavi. Serafina: hehe...Gavi ur singing pretty loud...didn't u say u didn't want noone to know ur here..?? Then we see Rod standing behind her....she turns around...surprised to see him...?? He says..."Gaviota!!" as he cups her face with his hand. "I cannot believe you're here!! I cannot believe you're here! Cannot believe ur no longer a dream...!" There is a little dreamy moment between them... until a car pulls over... Isa shows up, with her pregnant belly hanging and a tummy ring conveniently located to attract extra attention. Gavi sees her, gets shocked, looks at Rod with a face that clearly reads: what da..? didn't u say you couldn't...???.

After commercials, we get a zoom in of Isa's belly, then she runs away. Gavi looks at Rod...he says "gaviota, let me explain...". Gavi doesn't let him talk...LOL..the things she says are pretty funny. "Mr Rod, are you gonna tell me some of your sperms mistakenly fell on her...??...You are worse than the most disgusting worms and plagues that ever existed!! I hope u get chicken pox!! I hope you get measles!!" She screams towards the jimadores and tells them not to believe anything he says, because he'll never value any of them or their work; he's an exploiter... she persuades them to quit, then leaves. The coworkers are all gathered now, striking.

Back in bichie-landia, Pamela is up early; she's worried about Aron... He gives her a kiss..."Belleza, I'll see you Monday". P: do you swear to me? I'll pick u up at the airport. I love u, and could not live without you. A: I love u too...

At her place, Minnie is talking to Patricio. She says, OK, he can bring Lluvia but she will not talk to her. She then proceeds to her lingerie cabinet..."Aron, lace is your weakness.... I'm going to look great for you..."

At the hacienda, everyone is getting the place ready for the wedding.

Isa is upset at Rod...asks him how long this has been going on. Rod tries to explain, Isa threatens to lose the baby. Rod is mad, Sofie comes in and tries to calm Isa. Isa tells Sofie that Gavi is back. Isa is acting hysterical.

At their hotel, Gavi asks mom to come see her ASAP. She tells her Isa is pregnant.

Isa is yelling at Sanwanna; she presumes they all know Gavi has been here for a while. Sanwanna says she didn't know about her. Isa and Sofie are discussing this, Sofie is worried that Gavi will tell Rod the truth about Aron's lies. Isa asks Sanwanna to find out more about how Gavi got there. Sofie asks Isa to please not ruin her wedding day "help me make this day unforgettable..." Isa, in sneaky jealousy thinks: "it will be... no doubt about that!". Ach, I cannot help myself by saying: you snake!!!! Her and Fedra are right up there in a tight race for the snake trophy. She's the kind of friend Minnie deserves.

Bichielandia: Pamela is typing a poem about her and Aron.

At the airport, Aron and mommie are waiting for the plane. He's mad cuz the plane is late. Fedra calms him down by reminding him he'll soon have a baby with Pam. Aron gets happy as he remembers he will have a beautiful baby...."like him"...! Hehehe... I cannot help but imagine.... A baby with neon-red hair, piggie eyes, mustache, and rubber lips. Oh well, who said life's fair.

At the hacienda, Sofie is getting ready while Isa whines at her with the only purpose of ruining her day. Sofie can be annoying, but right now she gets my props for not strangling Isa and shutting her off!! I can only take so much of Isa's whining, because her voice gets high-pitched and starts shaking.

In the next scene, LOL... ok, Frankie is getting a pampering massage....he's wearing something that looks like a diaper, and has people putting some sort of gauze on his face. We then hear that annoying shriek of peroxide hair lady....... ok, I've had my dose of Isa for today. They can't do that to us, expose us to more than 10 seconds of her yelling "Enriquetaaa!!" or in this case "Sanjuanaaaa!!". So, she comes in to Frankie's room, asks everyone to leave, and tells him about Gavi. In her attempt to ruin this day, she tells him there is lots of money in this family, but he won't have access to it. He says he's not here for the money, and asks her to leave. She tries to convince him that Sofie is not a good 'business' for him, that marrying her will be the biggest mistake of his life, and decides she'll tell him her story with Rod from A to Z. Thank goodness we get commercials.

In his office, dressed up to die for, Rod is conversing with Meester Jaimes about how Gavi is back and he's so happy. Gosh, one smile and I forget how stupid he can be. Anyhoo, he talks about what the family would do to Gavi if they knew she's here.

Meanwhile, the jimadores are talking among each and decide not to work anymore until they talk to Rod. Roman convinces them that he'll talk to Rod and calms them down.

Back to Isa and Frankie...Frankie wonders how Isa is pregnant if she didn't boink Rod. As Isa is going to tell him the truth, someone knocks on the door....but she no longer needs to tell him, Frankie already suspects. He looks scared...but continues with his rejuvenation session.

In the living room, the family is gathering for the wedding. Isa walks in and makes a scene, forcing Rod to tell the family that Gavi is back. Ok, usually I like Dani, but WHAT did she do to her hair??? To me it kinda looks like a mop after you finish wiping away red Hawaiian tropic you just spilled on the floor. Rod and Isa argue about Gav. Roman breaks the news about the jimadores. Rod leaves. The family talks, talks, talks... Bruno tells Isa to calm down and not ruin Sofie's wedding.

Sanwanna is trying to get some juicy news from Rosa. Rosa won't tell her anything about Gavi.

In her hotel, Gavi is sitting in the bed remembering when she saw Isa earlier that day. She cries "no puede ser...!!!".

Tune in...! Tomorrow:

- Isa and Minnie are alone...Isa rubs in that she's having a varon.
- Gavi is talking to her mom about Rod's baby...Clarita: that baby is not his!
- Rod and Aron are fighting...seems like Rod found out all the truth about Gavi...

*** Have a wonderful day! 8-) ***

Thanks so much for this fun recap Tash. I so agree with you about Rod "dressed to die for" and with one smile I almost forget how dumb they have made his character.

Can anyone explain why Minnie wants Aaron back? He put her through hell, he constantly cheated on her, she realized she lost her self-esteem because of him and after all that she wants him back? I wish she had some devious plan to torment him (and there is a possibility she might) but I don't know if she's strong enough to continue to torment him. If she goes back to him she'll eventually join forces with him and have to burn for her wicked deeds.

Tonight's episode look like fun!

Aarons women are weak. Look at pam. His treatment of her. She says she knows that she has to be in a pleasant mood at all times, basically kiss his A.. and never think or feel the things she wants, yet she still said, in the end, that she loves him. His anger is sooo scarey and his attitude. This is a pure narcissitic (I'm a mental health therapist). Did anyone notice how he stood straight, put his arms out and motioned with his hands only, "come" and she went to his arms. It's as if he thinks he is a God. I hate his attitude and the way he is portrayed in this novela, but the acting is sooo supreme on his part.

A woman without a job is very likely to base her self-esteem on the ability to get and hold a man's love. In most societies, we are encouraged to do this, even if we do have a job and career.
Minnie's status, place in society, and financial security are all linked to Aron...she wants him back to feel good about herself again (I win! I beat Pam!) and to recover her status as part of a powerful family. As a divorced woman she would not be viewed positively by others. Sorry, that's just the way it is. I understand the character's motivation.

Tash: full of giggles for me this a.m. like "Gaviota is cutting agaves...not bad considering she must have a hangover" --that was choice.....Loved the mophead after wiping up Hawaian Tropical punch imagery, too. Thanks!

Anon 7:30 am -- Sergio plays these types of narcissistic villains so well, it's like poetry in motion. I wonder, being in mental health if you read our weekend discussion based around Isa suffering from Obsessive Relational Progression (ORP) or "Obsessive Love Syndrome"?

I think you and judy b put Aaron's little ladies' emotional deficiencies into perspective rather nicely, I believe.

Thanks for the recap , Tash^^^I won't be able to read it until after I get home from work today, but I enjoyed the comments. I , too, noticed AAron beckoning Pammy to him with that subtle hand signal. What a piece of work. He is the poster boy for the conceited , morally bankrupt . He thinks the sun rises and sets on his 60s ducktail, and these women encourage that idea. Come on , Minerva and Pammy, find some pride ...get a job...tell AAron to disappear...find a good guy who will treat you with respect and think about you instead of himself. But that's not going to happen, is it ? Well, got to go . P.S. That scene of Frankie in the weird face mask getting a spa treatment was freaky. He looked like an evil clown...well, he is an evil clown...another morally bankrupt character.

I read a little of the recap...so now we all know AAron's weakness.....LACE !!! AAron and I do have something in common after all !!! Who knew ??? Note to self : NEVER wear anything with lace ever again. I love lace , too...but now, AAron , you have ruined it for me forever... Maldito AAron. You are EVIL.^^^Susanlynn, staring at her lace curtains

I hated Dani's hair too. Really hated it. I realize she wanted to do something different with her hair for the wedding, but "different" isn't always an improvement!

Frankie's beauty treatment was soooooo Frankie. Notice how it was much more elaborate than Sofia's! And when Isa burst in and started talking to him, I cracked up when she said "don't make that face at me." He was still wearing the gauze mask. :)

I was confused by his befuddlement as to how Isa got pregnant. Does he not know how babies are made?

I've been thinking about the complaints about the actors who play Pam and James. I am wondering if this is coming from a lack of direction. Both actors played lightweight but very different roles on LFMB, and did quite well (you can really see the difference if you compare the roles).

While it would certainly be nice if the actors could just come up with something on their own, perhaps they aren't even sure where their roles are supposed to be going.

I'm not talking about plot direction, but the characters' motivation and emotional state. I know I sure can't figure out what's going on with them, based on the way they're written - first Mr. James is willing to do anything for Acacia and then he runs away when she really needs him (to take her to the police, hospital, whatever). Pam seems to have a humanizing effect on Aaron, then suddenly he's treating her like dirt.

It might be difficult for the actor to know how to play this sort of stuff without some guidance.

IMHO, Joana Benedek is getting better, Carlos de la Mota is still terrible. Did anybody notice that James acted like NOTHING was wrong back at the ranch in last night's episode.? He went from a shaking wreck in the evening, to smiling normalcy the next day. They could have hired a native English speaker with Spanish as a second language for this role, someone who could act. The studio system again. However, in their defense, they are all working very long hours to make these chopped-up scenes and yes, they probably do need to be reminded of their motivation at times . ("Carlos--stop smiling--there's a dead body in the barn and a crazy woman back at your house!")

Great recap, Tash! Rod certainly looked good, no, great, and I'm not a big fan of his. He is very impressive when he's not drinking and crying. I just know he'll talk the jimadores out of their strike, and give a big smile, to boot.

Loved Pilar asking Isa to get change and get ready for the wedding. I don't know how Pilar has stood Isa's "Baby Huey" look with her stomach showing. Not what an upperclass woman would wear!

I think Minerva's as possessive of Aron as he is of her, and it's all about not losing. No one deserves them like they deserve each other.

Aron has a narcissistic personality disorder, and boy, is that fun to watch. Fascinating and scary, too. A great novela villian!

I'm going to write off James's apparent indifference as profound denial. Not because I think it's plausible (he's always had a firm, if weird, grip on reality before), but because I need to find a way to retrofit his bizarre behavior into the story.

I wondered why he didn't ask Rodrigo for advice, but then I realized that there'd be no point... it'd be like the blind leading the blind.

Question: It looks like the Sofia/Frankie wedding will take place outside. Does that mean it will be a civil ceremony only?

Very good recap..Fedra what a piece of work.

Well yes Aaron is BSC, but I disagree with the comment about Minnie would be ruined...nah she must have come from some kind of social standing or she never would have been in the Aaron sphere in the first place and yeh, if they divorced she would get $$ and be right back on the market. Plus she has the rich aunt in Spain..nope Minnie is just as BSC as AAron and it is a power thing.

About Aaron, he is the Alpha Wolf..Bruno, Pat & Rod have deferred to him, he has done most of the business activity..(they have rarely called him on it), he has had countless women. Sorry to say but Aaron is the "Leader of the Pack". If this was on Animal Planet, the rest would be bringing him meat.

Tash, thanks for the great recap!
" A baby with neon-red hair, piggie eyes, mustache, and rubber lips. Oh well, who said life's fair" - I was laughing loud on this one!
Poor Miercoles has to go to the hospital before she does something more disturbing like ... kills herself?
May be they filmed episodes in a wrong order, how else could you explain James' complete indifference to whatever happened last nite after he was completely devastated and ran out of the house.
Completely agree on Dani - this is just ridiculous, Tash's description " looks like a mop after you finish wiping away red Hawaiian tropic you just spilled on the floor" is very funny and very true.
And, like somebody mentioned before, I didn't think that upper class ladies form Doña Pillar's family would show their pierced bellies at all, not to mention pregnant. And I don't recall any previous "Pierced belly showing" before Isa became pregnant. May be it was some kind of special ritual to pierce belly AFTER you become pregnant to "make it look beautiful"? Hmm...
And I think Gavi drinks too much, she can do a bottle of teqila all by herself without any food. But when she was without money - it was the only type of food in their appartment so may be she used to it.

Eve

Regarding James - I think he's in complete denial. And Rod was too in the sense that he was happy to see Gavi but didn't mention how they fought, how she probably never wants to see him again and encouraged the workers to quit. The two of them were just having a nice chat and not thinking about anything that could make them depressed (as their real lives do).

By and large I enjoy Aaron's (Sergio) craziness but his violence towards women is not enjoyable to me. Like all bullies, he needs to pick on men his own size. Oh, I hope Rod beats him down tonight!!

I agree with you Eve and its not just Gavi who drinks too much. Rod is up there too. But I think we are supposed to believe they only drink like that when their depressed.

Karen

I think Dani is supposed to demonstrate the artistic bent...lots of TeleNovelas have had one girl who has pink hair or purple and they are usually the artist type. Dani has crimped her hair. She wears a lot of funky bohemian clothes too. Don't hate me, but I like it...Dani is edgy, maybe you've noticed her choose in men, it different from the others.

No, I like Dani, totally... I just hate what she did with her hair for the wedding.

She has different taste in men? I hadn't noticed. ;-)

Unlike our reconstituted 30-something actors, Dani is genuinely young enough to carry off that style. Speaking of style, if you want the Isa look the next time you're expecting an heir, PS body jewelz sells expandable belly bars for your pierced naval--they grow when you do! Also offering a line of stretchable belly jewelry is www.mom4life.com.

I haven't posted in a while since I was only watching this periodically until lately. I have a problem with casting actors that are so much older than the parts they are playing and worse look it, like our dear leads. Anyway I've had hysterics over the comments re the belly piercing. I almost choked the first time I saw it and these people are supposed to be high class?

Wimpy James gets on my nerves more than any character I can ever remember in a novela and there have been many.

Like to see the girl playing Sanawana doing a lot more then all the moping and crying she did the last time i saw her in LM.

I actually thought Pam might have been typing a suicide note since I sure that sooner or later her lips are going to explode.

One more thing Gavi's singing in the fields loud enough to wake Rod and Isa? How close to the house are those fields? Trained opera singers with huge voices wouldn't be able to project at that kind of distance especially tequila fueled. Oh yeah I forgot Noveleland.

Funny recap, Tash! Why is it that all these women are so insecure? And Aaron...thinking he's God's gift to women! Can't wait to see what happens to him in the end!

Yep, Rod is sooooo good looking....I forget how stupid he can be until he smiles..........

And James is acting very strange righr now.

they are ALL acting strangely right now- Meester James ignoring corpse and wacked-out bride at home, intent on attending his former fiance's wedding; Isa making last attempt at slime-mold Frankie, jeoparidising her financial future; Rod happy to see Gavi, oblivious to the consequences, Inner Tube Lips defying asshat Aarongant; he wants to get back w/ Minnie, etc. none of it really makes much sense to me. one question- how does Clarita know that the baby isn't Roddy's, that was a real surprise to me in the preview... And that goofy day-spa scene w/Frankie- hope that Aaron doesn't see him with the lace on his face...

So, according to the preview, Isa knows that she is having a varon. Do you think Rod knows? And, how does Clarita know that Isa's baby's daddy is not Rod ? Is it just hopeful thinking on Clarita's part ?

Dave and I must have posted at the same time. So, we both want to know how Clarits knows that Rod is not the father of that baby. Any thoughts? Is it like when people say, ''Gosh, no...he would NEVER do THAT !!!!'' Wishful thinking.

Bwaaahhaaa
Clarita is thinking 52" plasma right about now...all her electronic dreams would be dashed...
She's bettin the kid ain't his against a $10,000 gift card to Best Buy.

I also like how there is only so much hatred to go around....so Minnie will direct all her hatred to Gavi and overlook Pat's novia. Damn with Aaron it would be way too hard to track his conquests.

This comment has been removed by the author.

I guess we will find out tonight, but I think Clarita's just bluffing, based on the fact that she's sure Rod would never "cheat" on Gavi with his icky wife.

I'm skeptical that Isa knows the sex of her baby yet... I don't remember for sure, but I think it's too early in her pregnancy to know... I think maybe she just said that to mess with whoever she was talking to (I forget, was it Minerva? Fedra?).

I also was surprised to hear how Clarita declared that baby is not Rod's. May be she was having some kind of "bruha's" moment or more likely that it is what Beckster mentioned.
But I don't understand how adult woman can think that man in his thirties ( or late twenties) have to be almost celibate even though she doesn't want to do anything with him ( we all know that he hasn't touched any other woman but Gavi). And she became so furious with Rod and gave her communist speech to her fellow jimadores and jimadoras. Gees, get a grip, Gavi!

Eve

Frankie has lace on his face--good one, Dorado Dave! No, I don't think Aaron goes that way. But Frankie's wedding approaches, can his "parents" be far behind?

Yes, I can see Isa wanting to mess with Minerva. These people are adept at pushing each other's buttons. I am hoping that we eventually get to see Rodrigooo wipe the floor with AAron....not just for the sneaky soulless snake he is in this telenovela...I am still ticked that Sergio's character Ceasar/Sleazer didn't suffer more in ''Heridas''...getting hit by a car was too quick and easy. I want Rod to beat up AAron. It will be like in school when the bully everyone fears and hates is punched out by the really strong and silent nice guy who gets pushed just a little too far and WHAM...that bully goes flying. Come on, Rod...do it.

I'm not sure it is all esteem issues with Minerva. Some but not all. She likes the rich life and she will do whats necessary to maintain this life style. She knows she would not have it without Aaron. I have a sister in law who is married to a millionair and totally narcissistic. I asked her why she tolerates his emotional abuse. She stated, "I pick my battles". "I do what I need to do". This woman had been in a marriage a few years to a weathly person. They divorced. She got a good job, had two condos one of which she rented out . She met my brother in law who lived with her for 20ish years (she didn't want a big wedding so he told her F it then. No marriage). Well 25 years later, they did and it was quaint the way she wanted. this woman had money and two homes and lived well; however, nothing like she can live with the husband. Is this self esteem or is this liking the good life?

To dorado dave. The inner tube lips was just awesome I had to laugh at that one.

Eve - I think you may (maybe) be misunderstanding why Gavi's mad at Rod. No one in her right mind would expect Rodrigo to be celibate while married... except for one thing: he has sworn up and down that he's never ever touched Isadora, that he couldn't even if he wanted to. And after originally telling Gavi that he was going to have a kid with Isa, he then said no, he never would.

And then Isa shows up all pregnant.

So to Gavi it sure looks as though he is still a LYING LIAR who wants to have his cake and his other cake too, because he keeps pursuing her while apparently being happily married to his totally PG wife.

Of course she could have given him two seconds to explain, or he could have blurted out "ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION!!!," but that would have been too sensible for either of them.

Yes, Julie- That about wraps it up in a nutshell. I especially liked your very pragmatic suggestion that Rod could have just yelled ''ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION.'' Too easy...and just not the telenovela way !!! What a crazy ride we are all having !!! It's 8 pm , and my cable went out suddenly about an hour ago , so it looks like no Destilando for me tonight. Instead, I am with Luis and the team hiding out at the old hacienda after the debacle at the convent. I'll have to check tomorrow's recap to find out what happened to Rod and team. Gotta go...Luis just started putting the moves on Hip....that just never gets old for me.

Julie,
you are right, I missed the part where he was sworn that he is unable to touch anybody but Gavi. But still, she was convinced that he lives with his wife together and she haven't seen him in 2 months, so ther could be possibility... But this IS a telenovela world so everything has to be completely screwd up.
Let see about varon tonite and how Clarita would explain her vision - "It's not Rod's baby"

Eve

In the caste system of farm workers in Mexico..the migrants or jimadores are on the bottom of the food chain...Roman/Ofelia/Hil/SannaWanna would be higher. My husband had to go with his father when he was a boy and do this. First off Gavi wouldn't look like Gavi after years in the fields..second she would have married some good looking Jimador somewhere around the age of 15. She had no schooling and no opportunities, really Clarita would have encouraged her to marry as a male would increase the family income. Chances are Hil and that group would never marry one, Hil is like middle class. Sad to say, but think of field hands and house servents.

And odds are really slim that one would even be spoken to by a Montalvo much else married to one..although a roll in the agave is not beyond possiblity..just any responsiblity for what might happen

Thanks for the great recap Tish!

Wish I could hold my tequila like that Gavi. She was up all night, drank like a sailor, and still up at dawn chopping those agaves in high heeled boots and a new sexy shirt.

Also, I wish someone (maybe an extra) would slap Isa every time she goes BSC and starts shrieking at a rapid rate...
jb

Thanks so much for the last 2 days of recap/comments. I'm on vacation and the place we're staying doesn't have Univision. They had it last summer, so I'm really ticked off. Shame on you for making me almost burst out laughing in the library again and again. At least I can keep up with the recaps.
