Amar Sin Limites #66, Wednesday 10-17: The 3/4 Monty

Last night on Mentir Sin Limites: Diego warns Daddy he'd better show some R-E-S-P-E-C-T for Mama, or else! Ivan delivers the message that Eva has proof of Mauricio's dirty deeds. Caty pouts. Emilia wants to spill the beans to Azul.

Mansión Malicia v 2.0: Emilia wants to talk to Azul, but Azul already has plans to meet Arnaldo for dinner at the restaurant where he now works. Emilia really, really, really wants to talk to Azul, but not if it will upset her plans. Azul says she'll call later and give Emilia the address to the restaurant . I've decided that if I can swing it, tonight will be words-that-sound-like-one-thing-but-actually-mean-something-else night…"dirección" sounds like it should be "direction" but actually means "address". Leo comes in leading Mauricio and hands him off to Azul.

Boutique…or possibly my dirty mind, I'm not sure: I may have to rewind this a few times, just to verify, but if I'm not mistaken, Andres, clad only in bright yellow boxers, takes a running leap off the runway. Hubba, hubba. Wait, wait, it gets better! He runs in the direction of the front door, presumably looking for Ceci…or possibly me, I don't know…and ends up running into Julio. Instead of being appreciative, Julio is appalled! This is the worst thing he's ever seen! Ceci's holding a shirt, as Gaspar holds up a pair of pants and (I hope) pretends that Julio meant the pants and not the mostly-naked man in his place of work. I smell another firing for Ceci unless someone can do some fast talking. I need to rewind though, and make sure I'm understanding all the nuances of this pivotal scene…Okay, I'm back and nothing vital was missed. Julio fires Ceci and Gaspar, having already warned them once, but Andres saves the day (I guess the yellow boxers are his superhero outfit) by telling Julio he's a client and is prepared to pay for the ruined jacket, plus spend a whole lot more. Ok, now Julio's ok with it, but shame on Ceci and Gaspar for making their poor customer run around the store in boxers. "Cliente" does sometimes mean "client" depending on the type of business, but also means "customer".

Mansión Malicia v 2.0: Azul wants Mauricio to tell Caty the truth about how bad off he is, but Mauricio doesn't want Caty to worry since she's already had one parent die. Azul says she disagrees and the truth is always better, but it's Mauricio's decision. Mauricio cops a hand-holding, which, seriously, is that as creative as he can get with the whole "I'm blind" thing?

Casa Moran: Clemencia wants a divorce, seeing as how she'd already forgiven Manuel for cheating on her the one time and now he's gone and done it again. Manuel spouts some BS about how he was looking for what was missing in their marriage. Clemencia wants him out of the house, but Manuel says if she wants a divorce, she's the one who's going to have to leave. Seriously? I don't know what's worse, Manuel's logic or Clemencia's bruise. I guess the actor who plays Andres hogs all the good makeup people. "Cinico" sounds like "cynic" or "cynical", and despite that being the meaning listed in several online dictionaries, I've never actually heard it used that way. More often it means "callous" or "unfeeling" or "jerk-like".

Casa S&I: Diego tells Isela he can't believe what she did and now he's the one who wants nothing more to do with her. Isela is understandably confused, seeing as how she didn't actually sleep with Manuel this time, but since she doesn't know qué the hell Diego is talking about she doesn't tell him that.

Mansión Malicia v 2.0: Maurico plays on Azul's (a) sympathy and (b) need for a job by attempting to hire her as Caty's nanny. Caty obligingly comes up at just the right moment and begs Azul to accept. Azul agrees to take care of Caty, but she refuses to do it for pay. Sucker.

Casa Moran: Lidia catches Clemencia packing up to leave and gets filled in on her daddy being a 2x cheater. Lidia's sage advice to Mama is to take back Daddy like she took back Piero--when Piero gets back the money his crazy ex-not-wife cost him and comes to enjoy his good fortune with Lidia, Mama will see that Lidia's got the right idea. Clemencia slaps her for actually being married to the guy, but turning into his lover. Clemencia says at least she will leave the house with her head held high because she has nothing to be ashamed of. "Frente" sounds like "front" which is correct, but in the context of the human body means "face" (I used "head" in the previous sentence because that's idiomatically correct for English).

Mansión Malicia v 2.0: Piero fills Mauricio in on his jail stint, the deal with the lawyer, and Eva's involvement. Mauricio attempts to look bothered, but actually looks like he's trying to remember where he left his keys.

Swanky Restaurant: As Diego (in a tux) is led to a table, we see Emilia (in a red dress) at a table drinking a glass of wine. What kind of restaurant would one need to wear a tux to? That seems like overkill. Anyway, he gets led to a private--though not completely isolated--dining room. Eva walks in with her shoulders back to a ridiculous degree, wearing a hot pink-ish dress and carrying a folder. Diego stands up to greet her, but won't sit back down until she shows him her proof. She hands him the folder and he sits.

Mansión Malicia v 2.0: Mauricio reminds Piero that he did meet Eva once. Mauricio says Eva did all this just to annoy him and he wants Piero to tell Diego what Eva did. Why Diego would listen is beyond me. Piero says that Diego seems like a pretty square guy…Mauricio agrees and says he's sick of Diego.

Swanky Restaurant: The papers in the folder are "evidence" that Mauricio started out trafficking in expired meds and then moved on to manufacturing shoddy meds. Diego is all upset about all the poor people who were hurt by Mauricio's dirty business. "Porqueria" sounds like it should have something to do with pork, but means something dirty, crappy, trashy, etc. He wonders why Mauricio wasn't busted and Eva says a corrupt official got him off and now her "organization" is "using" Mauricio. Diego wants to show the info to Azul, but Eva says it's not enough and that Ivan is flying to Europe to get the whole file. Diego wonders what Eva wants in return for this. She wants 2 things: 1) for Diego to keep working with her to bring Mauricio down and 2) to dance with her. *gag* Sorry, just a little acid reflux there.

Casa A&C: Azul is all dressed up to go to dinner (and looks 20 years older in that makeup) and is leaving just as Ceci and Andres are coming in. Like the good friend she is she "asks" if Andres gave Ceci the good news that Leo's not dying after all then takes off since the two of them will have so much to talk about. Poor Andres has no idea what she's talking about, but Ceci is pissed of anyway and won't kiss him goodbye when he says he's going to the house to find out qué the hell is going on. Gee, thanks Azul…heaven forbid anyone else be happy if you're not.

Mansión Malicia v 2.0: Mauricio confronts Leo about not passing on Lidia's messages. She tries to make an excuse, but Mauricio reminds her that she's only there as long as she's useful and once she's not….

Chez Swanky: Azul walks in with Arnaldo, conveniently not seeing Diego. Arnaldo snarks about her having dinner with "dad's new girlfriend". In a strange fit of actually being a decent person, Azul tells Arnaldo that Julio's been looking everywhere for him so he can apologize. Arnaldo walks Azul over to the table where Emilia's been waiting.

Wine Bar: Julio complains to Burgay about Eva and Azul catfighting in his boutique. He says it cheapens the place. He doesn't think it's a good idea to have Diego there if he's the lust object of those two women. He talks about returning the money and getting his receipt back, but Burgay laughingly tells him that's not the way it works. Julio remembers Ceci saying that Eva would do "anything" to get Diego.

Chez Swanky: What Emilia wanted so desperately to tell Azul is to talk to Diego. Then she sees him with Eva and says never mind, there's no point. Eva tells Diego she can't change who she is, but she wants to help him. Diego tells her she doesn't need to be involved in that world and should start over. Eva wants to know what Diego will do if he doesn't come back to work for her. He fills her in on his new dressmaking/designing enterprise and Eva insists they need to celebrate by dancing. The sound guys are piping in the sound of thunder, or something like that, as Diego and Eva dance and Azul cries. *yawn* Azul gets up, but Emilia stops her. She says GSD was right. Azul cries. Emilia is confused because she thought all their drama was about a bunch of misunderstandings. Yep, and now you've contributed to them Emilia, thanks. Eva tells Diego her dress is a Julio creation. She gives him the sob story about how she saw her mother killed and wished her prince would come save her…and then they'd dance. Yeah, yeah, it's sad, but still *yawn* Eva whines some more about what a great guy Diego is and how he's in love with Azul and she just wanted some of that sweet, sweet, decent-guy loving for herself. She says she's gonna love him even though he doesn't love her back. Azul can't watch anymore and goes off to find Arnaldo. Diego asks if they can go back to the table, but he's going alone since Eva needs to touch up her makeup. Thank goodness that's over!

Casa S&I: Silvana comes home and finds out that Diego's mad at Isela for (allegedly) sleeping with Manuel. Isela's upset that Diego didn't give her a chance to explain. Silvana says she'll make him listen.

Casita Malicia v 2.0: Andres confronts Leo about not actually being sick. She tells him she only just got the confirmation that day. Andres congratulates her and says he's glad…because now he can go live his life the way he wants. He leaves and Leo cries. I think we're due for a suicide attempt on Leo's part to get Andres back, or has she not yet exhausted all other possibilities for keeping him close? Just please not the dominatrix outfit again!

Chez Swanky: I think Arnaldo's the sommelier rather than a chef since he presents Emilia with a burgundy he says is indescribable. Emilia tells him they're leaving since Azul saw Diego there, and not alone. Arnaldo says this passion will finish off his sister. We can only hope. Azul and Eva run into each other outside the bathroom and have a verbal catfight about who gets Diego. Azul has wiped off her dark lipstick and looks much better now. Eva returns to the table and Arnaldo comes over to present them with the same bottle of indescribable burgundy. He tells Diego that if he'd known Diego would be there, he wouldn't have invited Azul there. He tells them the bottle is courtesy of Azul and Eva asks him to uncork it. Diego walks out in search of Azul and finds her out front. He tries to explain about Eva, but Azul's having none of it. Diego grabs her, but Emilia shows up and leads her off.

Casa D&DC: It appears Clemencia has moved in and she goes to answer the door to Isela and Silvana. See, this is why you should always check the peephole first. This should be interesting. Silvana says they've come to see Diego, to clear up some stuff, but Clemencia slams the door on them. Well, not as satisfying as a full-on catfight, but ok.

Mansión Malicia v 2.0: Andres wants Mauricio's help with Leo and Mauricio says he'll make it ok with her that Andres moves into one of the rooms in the house. Andres says he also wants revenge on Eva and Ivan for poisoning Leo and Maurcio says he'll take care of it.

Casa A&C: Azul fills Ceci in on Diego and Ceci fills Azul in on Andres and Leo. Azul cries about how Diego is romantically involved with Eva. *yawn* "Comprometido" sounds like it has something to do with compromise, but actually means "committed to" as in "having a commitment to someone or something" or "being engaged to someone".

Eva's hotel room: More weeping and desperation on Eva's part; more rejection on Diego's. Eva thinks it's because he knows too much about her, but Diego says it's because he needs to admire in order to love. And what's so admirable about Azul? Oh, that she was willing to give up everything for love. I call BS on that. Double-o-Diego and his honorable tux of honorableness leave the room. *yawn*

Casa Moran: Silvana and Isela are taking their show on the road and Casa Moran is the second stop on their world tour. For their trouble, Lidia slaps Isela and has to get pulled off her by Manuel. Silvana and Isela demand that Manuel tell Lidia the truth, which he does. Lidia says she's still glad she slapped Isela since that can count for the last time, when she did actually sleep with Manuel. Then Lidia berates Manuel for lying to Clemencia. Isela tells Manuel he'd better come clean to Clemencia and Diego, because Isela doesn't want to lose Diego over this. Then she and Silvana leave.

Casa D&DC: Double-o-Diego comes home to find Clemencia fixing up the couch to sleep on. She's nuts if she thinks Diego's going to allow that. She explains that Manuel wouldn't leave the house and said she had to be the one to leave, which Diego thinks is not fair. He wants to go talk to Manuel about it, but Clemencia distracts him by telling him that Isela and Silvana showed up and she'd like him to tell Isela not to come around while Clemencia's living there. She's really hurt that Silvana is taking Isela's side. Diego tells her she can stay as long as she likes. "Bronca" is not the feminine form of a word referring to a wild horse, it means "a fight".

Wine Bar that Apparently Also Serves Coffee: The next morning, Burgay tells Eva that Julio wants more money on account of (a) Eva and Azul getting into a catfight over Diego and (b) Diego being a crappy tailor who can't even sew on a button. Eva calls BS on that because Diego told her that Julio liked his designs. She says she won't give Julio another cent and she'll make him accept her conditions.

Casa D&DC: Clemencia lets slip to Diego about Lidia carrying on with Piero even though he's living with Lucia again. Diego, in his Dallas Cowboys jogging suit, frets over Lidia being with Piero again.

Undisclosed Location: Piero, on his cell phone, thanks Lidia for giving him someone's address and says he's going to do what Mauricio asks in order to get Mauricio's financial help, but he's also going to stay with Lucia to make her pay for all the humiliation she's caused.

Casa D&DC: Piero comes to talk to Diego and tells him that Eva made him do it. Well, that has a nice ring to it.

Tomorrow: Diego confronts Eva and Silvana gets busted for interrogating Caty. "Chantaje" sounds like it has something to do with "chanting" but means "blackmail".

Querida 5ft.Latina, I really enjoyed your recap for thorough coverage and all the charming word studies you dropped into the entire piece. I am particularly enamored of studying Amigos Falsos and false idioms when words look like ones we know in English but, as you point out, may mean something quite different.

That was such an enjoyable recap, 5ft., and I too enjoyed the embedded vocabularly lesson. The only one I didn't know was "cinico" which I got wrong in describing Manuel, but then he probably is cynical too knowing him.

I'm with you in not understanding Julio's reaction to a barely clad Andres in the shop. That hottie can scamper around my boutique in any state of undress he chooses!

Thanks, 5ft, for the great recap and interesting editorial comments and vocab lesson. I appreciate the laughs. I ,too, noticed Eva's exaggerated stance with her shoulders pulled back...perhaps to hold up that strapless frock. I was fascinated by her ''scarf ponytail.'' What was that about? I wonder if Marcelo Cordova [Anndress] has a clause in his contract about how many times he must appear shirtless . He looked mighty fine, and , like you, I would have thought that Julio would have appreciated the show.

Thanks for putting in the vocab. I was stuck on porqueria. Like Cheryl I'm into this to mejorar my Spanish. But, I find the recaps to be even more entertaining that the novela. Thanks.

I watch this only so often in parts, but man this title is really great: Mentir sin Limites. Definitely seeing that, not really seeing a whole lot of love on the show. Funny, thanks for your efforts 5ft!

5ft great job again as usual. Was it my imagination or did Mo have a name for the Mansion malicia? Like los cocotales (because of the coconut trees?) or something like that. He mentions this when reminding Piero of when he met Eva, which was at the mansion.

Also, I couldn't pay attention to the whole thing but did Emilia ever get to tell Azul anything after all that build up in the last epi? All I remember is Azul spying Diego, falling to pieces and leaving (after confronting Eva and Diego).

Arnie is the new sommelier of this fancy restaurant? How hard can it be to get a job (like they keep telling us) if he's already got a posh job like that?

Great recap 5ft. I too loved the title Mentir Sin Limites. That's awesome. Karen said she still wasn't able to recap Thursday this week, so I'll try and cover both in my recap for Friday. We'll see how that goes, or if my wife breaks my computer over my head for spending that much time recapping. Wish me luck.
