Destilando Amor - Oct. 25, 2007 - the stinky stuff hits the fan

EPISODE - Oct. 25, 2007 - Now in its 'ultimas semanas':

* Rod and Gavi finally reunite at the assembly. As they are catching up, the witches enter and interrupt. They make their usual snide comments and Gavi is very cordial and leaves quickly. Rod and Fedra exchange commentaries about why the three witches actually appeared and then Rod leaves.

* Gavi and Alonso talk as the witches spy on her from across the ballroom.

* Lluvia stands with Dani as she talks with Fedra and her witch students about Don Amador's memory and the threesome's real reason for appearing there (to cause trouble for Gavi). Minnie drinking martinis states she welcomes the fight with Gavi.

* Don Roberto starts the unveiling ceremony and walks Granny P to the stage area. Rod stands at Granny's side while Don Roberto gives the presentation speech. At the appointed time, Don Roberto asks Granny to pull the cord and the curtains open to reveal the plaque with the building named in honor of Don Amador Montalvo.

* At home, Clara has her own little crying party while holding her photo of Don Amador.

* The assembly starts - everyone is sitting along each of the long tables. Don Roberto is speaking then presents Granny P to give a few words on behalf of herself, and her family. As she finishes, everyone stands and applauds. Pancho and Isa take the moment to sneak out into the alcove. Isa stops Pancho to rehash a new plan to throw off Sofia's suspicions about them.

* Gaspar stops Rod to congratulate him and the family. Sophia looks around the ballroom for Pancho.

* Isa and Pancho are still in the alcove discussing Sophia's suspicions and her idea of what to do about it. Pancho doesn't like the idea and tries to dissuade Isa from going through with it. Isa is forceful. As he agrees, Sophia appears and stares at the two of them together. Pancho starts to spout the cover story explanation for why he and Isa have been together all this time (as Isa had just told him to do). Sophia grimaces at the late-blooming explanation. (Ed. Note: All I taste is bile and barf.) As Pancho and Isa continue the story of half-truths to Sophia, Sophia stops them, smiles and says "let's let bygones be bygones, shall we?" Pancho is half-relieved. Isa plays happy that they are still friends. She gives Sophia a half-hearted hug; Pancho takes a deep breath and gulps as Sophia watches him like a hawk.

* Everyone in the ballroom has broken up into small groups around the room. Isa meets up with Fedra and Minnie and the witches watch Gavi and Alonso with the press corp.

* Rod says his good-byes and tells them he has to leave, he has another pressing engagement to attend tonight. As he leaves, Minnie and Isa gossip about Rod and Gavi. Before he leaves, Rod finds Gavi to say good-bye.

* Erika and her friends are having a sing-a-long at her apartment.

* Rod talks with Gavi - he advises her to be careful around Minnie. She tells him about her trip tomorrow to Guadalajara. He wishes her best of luck and then leaves. Alonso goes over to Gavi to talk with her about Rod - she's too irritated with the witches and their horrible attitudes - she needs some tequila shots to get through the event with them present.

* Erika and her friend talk quietly about Rod, as the songfest continues in Erika's apartment.

* Mama Barbara is with Pammie at the hospital - Pammie had another epileptic episode. Mama explains to Pammie where she is and why she's there, as well as that Papa Gaspar had to attend the assembly and unveiling ceremony for Don Amador in Mexico City. Mama tries to get Pammie to give up her vengeance plot against Aaron but Pammie adamantly refuses.

* Gaspar talks with Don Roberto. Gaspar has to return to Guadalajara to be with his wife and daughter. Gavi approaches as Gaspar leaves. Don Roberto tells Gavi about Pammie's epilepsy and to be discrete with the information. Gavi promises.

* The witches sit and gossip and watch Gavi (their favorite subject). Alonso and Gavi chat with the assembly guests. The witches are drunk, especially Minnie, and interrupt Alonso and Gavi and the guests. Minnie starts to spout her mental picture about Gavi the whore in Paris and London. Alonso starts to sputter but Gavi stands up and defends herself by spouting the whole entire truth about her life in Paris and London. Everyone is very interested and intrigued except for the witches who yawn and are bored. Bruno is shocked and horrified and tries to make the witches leave right now. They refuse - Minnie and Isa try again to put Gavi down as a gutter-snipe but Gavi steps up to the challenge and gives her "check-mate" to Minnie and Isa as she expounds on the truth behind their and Aaron's illegal activities at Montalvo Corp. and about Ricardo's huge debt that Rodrigo had to bail him out of. Bruno is totally impactado and humiliated.

* Across the ballroom, Gavi vents to Dani her anger. Dani tries to calm her down. Alonso comes over to offer his support to Gavi.

* Bruno confronts Isa about Ricardo's debt and scolds the threesome. He orders them to leave now. Bruno leaves the group. Fedra and Isa walk away. Minnie goes to find her purse and go to the restroom.

* Gavi calms down with the help of Dani, Elvis and Alonso. Gavi watches Minnie leave for the restroom.

* Gavi follows Minnie inside the ladies room. Minnie looks up in the mirror and makes a crack about her husband. Gavi approaches angry and starts to shake Minnie to get her to answer the question about how many lovers was it? (Catfight!)

* Gavi calmly strolls back to the ballroom and asks someone to call her a taxi as she then approaches Dani, Elvis and Alonso. Alonso says he will be happy to transport her back home, but Gavi declines.

* Fedra and Isa wait at a table for Minnie; Aaron comes over looking for his wife - they don't know where she is. Aaron walks around. Minnie comes out all disheveled, drunk and upset. She starts to whine, cry and shriek about Gavi beating her up in the ladies' room. Aaron and Bruno are mortified and in disbelief. Aaron picks up the shrieking Minnie over his shoulder and carries her out of the building. Gavi talks with Alonso. Bruno and Granny P ask Fedra and Isa what that was all about - Fedra tells them what Minnie had cried, that Gavi beat her up in the ladies' room; Bruno decides the family needs to leave right now!. Isa leaves. Fedra stands there, stomps her foot and says they need to get Gavi fired right now! Bruno and Granny P. negate that immediately. Granny and Fedra leave together. Sophia and Pancho leave behind them. Bruno approaches Gavi for her side of the story. Dani steps in and gives Gavi an alibi, as well as reveal that Minnie had been drinking heavily all event and is pregnant; Gavi is impactado. Gavi then answers Bruno's question. Bruno leaves. Alonso and Elvis join Gavi and Dani. Gavi tells Alonso if he wants her to resign, she will do so. Alonso says not to think about that. He tells her good luck on her business trip tomorrow and not to worry about her mother, he will take care of her and help celebrate her birthday.

* At the apartment, Erika tells her friend, she thinks Rod stood her up.

* Elvis goes to get the car. Dani talks with Gavi about Rod and Dr. Erika - Gavi is upset and presses Dani if there is a serious relationship building between Rod and his psychiatrist. Dani won't answer completely. Taxi arrives. Dani cheers Gavi up about the family reunion tomorrow and about Don Amador. Gavi leaves in the taxi. Dani thought-bubbles to herself.

* The party continues at the apartment. Door bell rings. Erika answers. Surprise! Rod finally arrives, bringing tequila gifts and a mexican polka band. Rod and Erika start to dance together.

* Clara is waiting up as Gavi finally arrives home. After Clara gives her own telenovela rendition of the evening, Gavi corrects her with the truth - she vents about the witches who provoked her all night long, especially Minnie.

* Aaron plops Minnie, who is totally drunk, on the bed. He is fuming angry and scolds her. She so drunk she's not paying any attention.

Tune in tomorrow for: The mystery letter from Don Amador is finally opened and read -- Granny P asks who is Clara Hernandez; Rod thought-bubbles to someone that he is in love with his AUNT (Gaviota)!

It's hard to see Rod cool to long-suffering Gaviota and then to see him lavishing attention on Erika. Erika needs to tell him that he's actually in love with Gaviota, and then turn into an angel.

JR - Thanks for the recap. I missed the first half, but, unfortunatly saw enough of the predictable behavior of the brujas. But, what a missed opportunity for Rod. He needs a major smackdown, but, I don't think even that would bring him to his senses. This is a man who never came down from the trees. From lower Ala

Thanks JR, I missed the first part and still didn't miss a thing.

I would like to see Rod suffer from all the mistreatment he's given everyone around him. Even his precious Granny didn't get much of his time to honor his beloved Grandfather-- because he had such an important appointment that just couldn't wait 24 hours.

Gavi's drinking and then going after Minnie and attacking her was silly too. I guess you can put the executive in the jornalera, but you can't take the jornalera out of the girl. (Something like that?) Or maybe that's not fair to the jornalera's...

maggie..
I fear that what you have said will come to pass. It does seem that the only one thinking Rod is in love with Gavi, is Erika..I swallow the bile that is rising up as I type this. Also maybe people do sit around in there apartments having a singfest. I know maybe if you are in a choir or chorus. Maybe it is cause I am tone deaf...but please

Now the good part would you just love to be one of the other Tequila families at the function. After all how the Montalvos have been the leaders for all those years. It was a total trailerfest.

Uh-oh. Rod is thinking that he , like the lovely Annndresss in ''Amar sin limites,'' is a tialover. Well, at least he's not an abuelo-killer. So, that's what young , upwardly mobile Mexicans do in their free time...hootenanny!I couldn't believe when Rod came sweeping in with his bottles of tequila and the band....Suddenly, he is everyone's favorite fraternity brother...big man on campus...carefree bon vivant...life of the party...sweeping a grinning Erika around the room in her bustled and belted designer gown. [I have the exact same dress, and like Erika, I always wear it whenever my friends gather at my place to sing and play guitars.] I was hoping for a tagteam match for Gavi...maybe Isa AND Minnie...and she'd beat them both down. I suppose her trip tomorrow will conveniently have her in the general vicinity when the codicil to Amador's will is read. How are Rod and Gavi going to get back together ?? How many more weeks to go ?? Are pirates finally on the horizon after this show ends??

Agree..The attacking of Minnie was a little like a redneck brawl..I think Gavi could have done much more damage to her ego by attacking the dress she had on..Minnie,Sofia,& Isadora wear enough polyester to start a bonfire..Don't they do a run thru before shooting these scenes to see how they look on screen? Cost cutting at Televisa, I suppose..

Erika comes across as way too needy..Eventually, Erika will hopefully see the light, before she makes a complete fool of herself. She knew the Rod & Gavi "love" before she began her therapy sessions at the local eatery..

This actress played a similar character on LFMB..Obviously, to make Lety jealous..

P.S. I can't wait to see Gavi de-bustle Erika !

Rodrigo was unneccesarily "cool," but I did catch the slow simmer underneath. I'm thinking that something will happen to take him to "full boil" with Gavi again. I'll be glad when that happens, because he deserves to be taken down a peg or two. I think Gavi should have questioned him though, about where they stand. Maybe she thought it wasn't the time or place. I also think Dani took the high road when Gavi questioned her about Rodrigo. She showed loyalty to her brother, while maintaining the admiration she has for Gavi. I liked that.

I will have to amend my eternal punishment for Rod. It now requires one of those wandering bands he's so fond of bringing into people's apartments late at night. He might be wearing Erika's bustle too...

Marg. in MN, back in MN

I did wonder what Erika's neighbors might have thought about the band/ The friends singing with the guitar is one thing, but trumpets are really loud.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching Minerva getting bruised and then carried off kicking and screaming, but as richly as Minnie deserved the golpe, I doubt that Gavi will completely get away with it. She'll have to pay for it in some way.

Julie, on your late night post you sure told off that ANON who made that gross exaggeration that everybody's comment mentioned that Elvis was Black. I laughed when you caught Anon in a lie and retorted that some of the comments did NOT mention that Elvis was Black. You then gave a real intelligent solution that more or less said "if you're tired of seeing the word Black, then don't read the comments that contain that word". You said that you are going to keep it going. Great! I'll help you out. Every time you send in a comment with the Black reminder, I'll send in two. That should really ruffle ANON's feathers. Now that there's a little bordom in the novela. Let's take this time to attack each other's comments. Go Girl! I luv ya! Everyone is entitled to a comment or opinion. But how dare some people send in something that we don't like. OK, I'll start. "Hey everyone, just in case you didn't know it, Elvis is Black". OK, your turn. Then I'll respond.

Anon Lisa from Alpena, here is a cut and paste of your comment from yesterday. "This is a telenovela, and everyone is entitled to make comments about any, and everything...that's what we're here for. If they happen to mention Elvis' skin color tomorrow, I'll still comment cause it displeases me". I see a gross contradiction here. If you really believe this, then why was it necessary for you to try to make me think that my comment was unwarranted and out of place? Initially when one of the recappers pointed out the fact, we all agreed that too much emphasis was put on the word Black. So, all my comment was trying to point out was Hey, we said that the writers put it in there too much and now it seems like we are doing the same thing by keeping it going in the comments. But, if you think it's still funny go right ahead. By the way, you had a lot of nerve getting bent out of shape because I mentioned something that I didn't like. Reread your post from yesterday. You started off with a hate list of everything you disliked about the novela. Yet no one questioned or gave some foolish solution like turn your head when there's a part you don't like. So, by all means, have fun with the Black word. Keep it going at nauseum. I promise to help you out.

ALL RIGHT, EVERYBODY BE NICE. We don't like flame wars here at Caray Caray.

Does last night's confrontation between Gavi and the brujas (especially Minerva) count as a falling anvil? I'd love for there to be steady, gentle rain of anvils over the next few weeks, instead of waiting till the last couple of days to dump them all. If we pace ourselves, there will still be enough for a big storm at the end.

I agree about the bustle being a butt. I have the same problem. Maybe I SHOULD try to camouflage it with a bustle.

PS to dissatisfied customer: I only recap every two weeks, so you're going to have to wait a while. Sorry to disappoint you.

Actually Allah Rajah,I wasn't trying to make it seem that you're comment was either unwarranted or unnecessary, I agreed with it to a point. My point, however, was that if people want to comment on the Black issue, or clothes issues, or hair issues or whatever, they have a right to do so, just like you. This is a telenovela, nothing more, nothing less. I remember when too much emphasis, a while ago, was placed on the fact that there are a bunch of blondes in this novela. Fact is there aren't probably any true blondes in Mexico, but so what. Whether there are or aren't, you still have the right to comment on that fact, and all that it implies, and I will still respect your right to do so. Melinama, War was definitely not my intention....but that's another issue

To Maggie

In La Fea, her boyfriend had to tell her at the very last minute that she loved Fernando. So it looks like Rod will find out he loves gav the same way (ie. confronted "you love gavi". Pathetic that he can carry on like that for Erika and not realize that he loves gav and what he is doing to her; however, Lety did the same thing to fernando.

To the others who think gav's behavior was wrong. I agree; however, I think she was finally brought to the boiling point of no return. How much can a person take; however, if I had the nerve to do what gav did, i would also have been able to wait till we were outside or someplace quiet

I agree with you Melinama. I'm retracting my comment about how I'd respond to further references to the "B" word. I won't purposely be annoying and disrespectful to others just to have the last word.

Thanks for the recap, JR.

I don't know what made me wince more - the Montalvo witches' behavior, or the sing-a-long at Erika's party. I swear I thought they were going to sing "Michael Row the Boat to Shore", or whatever the Mexican equivalent is.

Bruno was embarrassingly ineffectual at getting his wife and the brujas to leave - what an embarrassment.
Viva Aron - man of action - for slinging Minnie over his shoulder and taking her out of there!
If only he hadn't sent adulterated tequila to wherever...he does have his good points.

At least Rodrigo looked back at Gavi when he left...he still cares, the big dope.

Trailerfest! Good one and oh so true. I nearly choked when puny Aron grabbed drunken Minnie and threw her over his shoulder and his knees never even buckled. I thought I saw one of her earring fly off when he did it. I guess all that phone abuse has built up his muscles.

Poor Bruno he has the patience of a saint. Fedra needs a good shock like him walking out on her. She is useless and so self important. Bruno is a classy gentleman of the old school something that none of the younger generation of Montalvos can ever aspire to.

For a minute it looked like Sofia has actually grown a pea brain and that she didn't believe that load of crapola Isa told Frankie to spew.

Gavi made a bad mistake, although an understandable one, in going after Minnie. My mother always told me every dog has his day and she should have been the better woman and ignored the bitch. I'm willing to bet that all of a sudden Minnie will have a "miscarriage" that the coven will blame on Gavi's savage attack in the loo. So predictable.

Rod continues to be the most obnoxious, clueless pig of a galan ever and that is saying something. He acts about 5 years old. It's all about me. I want him to really, really suffer before this thing ends. He has to pay for his cruelty to Gavi as well as his endless stupidity. Those previews for tonight look like a few anvils are going to descend on his head and the rest of the almighty Montalvo's. Bout time.

Erika is a dolt with a degree. I'm dying for her to run into Gavi and put two and two together.

Dani get big points for her loyalty and discretion. She is a good friend to Gavi and a better sister to Rod then he deserves.

Anon..
Yes we are indeed heading for a big fat..LFMB resolution.

I mean I get the deal with (and I'll use their names to cut down on confusion) Erika telling Rod that Rod really loves Gavi. This however only works if Rod was with Erika cause, he protecting her from immigration, a disease, a hitman. Whatever something that can be resolved & in these cases the Rod person would already know he really loved Gavi. In LFMB & this one, it is like they have to be told. What if they were told to rob a bank? Are they that stupid?

Also I wish Gavi had pushed Rod last nite..but really what is the point. His actions have been his answered. He has blown her off & asking would have made him put it into words. "Gone Daddy Gone", besides I think he is intrigued with the idea of the buffet menu.

Thanks for a terrific recap JR. As much as I've enjoyed this novela, I'm glad to see it coming to a close. The writers have presented more than enough suspense and it's time to start the ball rolling towards resolutions. I'm really anxious to see what Rod is going to do to redeem himself and make him worthy of Gavi's undying love. I wouldn't be surprised if he suddenly sees the light and it then becomes her turn to reject him. That would make him have to cry and beg etc. For as much as he claims he loved his abuelo, leaving the occasion early wasn't a convincing way of showing it. I don't believe for one minute that Gavi is Rod's aunt. So, that's another thing they need to get the ball rolling on. Thanks for enterpreting what Sophie said when she suddenly had a change of heart after she caught Frankie and Isa together. I was in a situation years ago where I kept telling myself I needed more proof. All the proof I needed was staring me in the face. But I was just as blind as Sophie. So, you'd think I'd have sympathy for her. But, after my experience I can't stand it when people stay in denial rather than confront the problem.

Thanks for the recap J.R. Even though I feel sorry for the way Rod continues to treat Gavi, who I really feel sorry for is Sofia. She doesn't know whether she's coming or going, or what to believe or not believe. In her defense, Frankie is a pro, and has mastered the art of manipulation. Isa has also been around the block a time or two. Sofia has only had meester james, and has obviously led a sheltered, but privileged life. I do fault her for not trusting her own feelings and intuition. The only reason, besides love, that I think Gavi continues to moon over Rod, is that the same intuition that Sofia is lacking, tells Gavi to hold on. After months and weeks of Rod's nonsense, though, most women (I hope!) would at least say it's time to start thinking about a life without him??????

In the scene where Isa and Frankie were coordinating their stories just before Sofie showed up, Frankie went off on a tangent about his precious handkerchief. If you didn't understand a word of what they were saying, it was the moment when he was the most agitated. Isa had mentioned "that damn handkerchief" and he went off on how she shouldn't call it a "damn handkerchief" because it was made from the most special and expensive fabric at the most exclusive stores, etc.

It's not important, it will never impact the outcome of the story, but it's so Frankie. I am so in love with this actor. I wonder if he ad-libbed the hankie speech, because it seemed so spontaneous. I would love to know if there was a similar scene in the original novela with the coffee. One of these days I'll go on a Googling spree and see if I can find out.

Please .. a little more translated conversation..reaaly like to know what ISA and FRanc wre plotting ..thanks..tec

Anon 3:15

You really don't need a full translation of the Isa Frankie talk. Basically Frankie was worried that Sofia was catching on to them. Isa told him he should tell her that he had been talking to and seeing Isa to discuss his relationship problems with a friend. He went on his rant about the hankie and wasn't convinced Isa's idea was a good one but when Sofia appeared he went for it.

Julie,
Thanks for telling us what Frankie said. We appreciate all trouble you all go to, but we can all see the pictures, but we can't understand the language, so we need more dialogue to keep up.

What explanation did Frankie and Isa give Sophia? Somehow, I think it's too late and she doesn't trust them anymore.

Gavi behaved like a high schooler at the prom, not an executive with a head on her shoulders. She should have exercised some self-control and laid off the booze. She should never have followed the evil witch into the bathroom. She knows that alcohol impairs your thinking and your inhibitions--after all she's quite into tequila partying!

These adolescents need to grow up!

On Rod--everything he has been doing lately is juvenile and in poor taste. I can't stand him right now.

G.

Julie,

The actor does a good job with Frankie because he makes him more multifaceted then he would appear on the surface and there are times when he shows a little vulnerability. Frankie is a shrewd man who didn't want to be the poor bastard boy from the barrio. He saw how rich people lived and wanted the same thing but taking the easy way instead of working for it. He knows he has the looks and the superficial charm and has played on what he has to get what he wants. In a caste system like Mexico's it would have been hard for him to make it any other way. I don't think he is all bad as he does seem to care about the baby and I thought he once looked a little ashamed after he cut Jose at one of the CRT shindigs. I'm not even sure anymore that he really loves Isa although she has laid claim to him being "her man"

For all the talking Frankie and Isa did, and then with Sofia, that really was it, as Anon 3:56 described. It's not the translation that was flimsy - it was the PLAN itself that was flimsy. It was actually a pretty tedious conversation, spelling it all out in far more detail than necessary.

Their explanation was just good enough to satisfy a person who wanted to believe it. I'm not sure whether Sofia wanted to believe or not. If so, then the humiliation factor just got multiplied by 100.

I know what the letter is i know what it is! But im not telling i remeber clearly reading ahead of the former show! Minnie must of been off her rocker to chalenge Gavi! Gavi came out neatly as if nothing happened!
Oh its so sad this is almost over! It hasnt been said what will take its place maybe Como Ama Una Mujer will switch to its time or a show will double its hours. Anyone know yet? Amar Sin Limites is said to be over in january 2008.
Funny this is my first post in the longest while!
I missed being around!

Thanks for the recap and comments. I missed Frankie's comment about the rich qualities of the ill-fated hankie, so appreciated that. I'm not sure that Sofi was giving Frankie/Isa a pass and believing their story. I think she's just biding her time. She still has the phone bills to look at when she gets back to the hacienda. Unless Sanjuana finds them first.
The catfight was pretty good, but they cut away from it before it really finished. Loved, loved, loved Aaron picking up Minnie and slinging her over his shoulder. Yes, he must have some hidden muscles to do that.
I always fixate on the clothes like Erika's fussy wardrobe. If that black dress had only the bodice trim and a straight skirt, it would be elegant. The peplum ruffle hanging off the back, or bustle as some prefer, and those white ruffles on the curved hem were way over the top. As was the addition of the band to a quiet evening. How young was Rod when his parents died? Somewhere along the way, something was left out in his raising.

Thanks, J.R.! Welllllll! Concerning her red-neck row with Minnie, I'd say that is one way of letting your hair down, and I figure that Gavi is getting a pass as of tonight's episodio, if the previews prove true. Can't say how I'd have handled it, only that I sure as heck enjoyed it, right along with Aaron's throwing Minnie over his shoulder like the sack of rotten potatoes she is.
=========
All that guitar strumming with that crowd had me thinking "Cumbyyah", but Michael Row the Boat Ashore is even better! Either way, it was soooo not Rod and if there was ever a mismatch made in Hell, that would be it.

Julie, I'm so glad you mentioned the Frankie and damn handkerchief scene! It's so telling of his character.

How old are these crazy "kids" anyway? They're regressing...
jb

Exactly why does Rod always show up
bearing gifts? It's either music or food, except the one time he did give gavi earrings, and the plaque he gave to Erika. There must be some kind of inadequacy theory behind this? Damn, between the gift bearing and dog sniffing, along with his many other character flaws, Rod is really a mess!!!

Like everyone else, I'd like to shoot Rod. But let's not forget that except for some childish flirting, we have never seen anything serious and/or sexual between him and Erika. Not even a real kiss. And the lovesick Erika keeps saying how Rod is in love with another woman. She must know --she's a "psychologis" after all. And although I might have misunderstood, I thought in the coming attractions he said something to the effect that the "woman I'm in love with is my aunt." Did I get it that right?

I wonder about the Rod/Erika relationship. Call me old fashion, but I have had guys that were good friends at work, but that is as far as it went. None that I sat around drinking with or anything (well not for a long long time), and even back then one thing usually led to another.

So what's next for this crazy twosome..I have visions of Rod braiding her hair.

The hubster has trouble with this "friends" thing. Swears it is an impossibility and always is the pretext to what comes after..... Anyhow, Dani said to herself after Gavi left the event that she doesn't believe her brother, and that she fears it is a bit more than just amigos.

Like Anon 5:22, I think Sofia is just biding her time until she has hard proof, she’s not buying the lies anymore, just giving Frankie & Isa more rope to hang themselves.

As far as Erika and Rodrigo go - like Beckster said, one thing leads to another. If something was going to happen between the two of them it already would have. Rod is just trying to forget Gavi and playing at being with someone else. He didn’t hide the fact that he still was taken with Gavi at the ceremony (he told Gavi she looked beautiful, he didn’t pretend to ignore her or that he wasn’t looking at her), he just for once wasn’t hanging all over her like a puppy dog. Since he’s trying to get over Gavi, he left to try to prove to himself, and to her, that he could handle things without being a jealous idiot. As for Erika, for whatever crazy reason she fell for Rodrigo, but she’s always told him and herself that he was still in love with Gavi, I haven’t seen any schemes on her part. She just doesn’t have the willpower to stay away from him even though she knows things probably won’t turn out well for her.

I don’t think Rodrigo or Erika or Sophia (all favorites on the hate list!) deserve severe punishment for doing the stupid, selfish misguided things they have done. I think their actions have already brought the suitable punishments – Rodrigo is facing (or thinks he is) a life without the only women he’ll ever love, Erika thinks she loves someone who will never return the feeling, and Sophia is suffering the betrayal of her husband with her BFF. Of course Gavi is also having to suffer, which is what outrages everyone. I’m amazed she hasn’t tried some playing at being with someone else herself. My reaction to my great heartbreak of my first true love in my 20s was to do exactly that. I guess that’s why I don’t fault Rod!

I dont' think san Juana will spy for Isa any longer because if we remember well, at hillario's boss 's appartment when she hide behind the wall and listened to hilario pouring his heart out about being in love with isa, I think that change the scene for san juana as in being Isa's spy.
Yes we all criticised Gavi for attacking the wicht in the bathroom, but I think she just lost it. Not only these stupid women make her life a living hell, but now they are attacking her personality in publick, that would make any one loose it too and slap the heck out of some body. No it was not professional but minnie deserved it.
ROdrigo is in denial, he is trying so hard to forgoet about something that meant to be. He is convincing himself that he can get over Gavi, but in reality he knows he can't.
Fedra lost her place as being a respectable woman to me, she is more like the leader of super hormonalteen age girl in high school like the mean girls, if you understand what I mean. she is so out of place for her age and her status by these childish behaviors.and one last things let's not get offended by our racial differences, remember GOD IS VERSITILE he loves us just the way we are. this is a novella let just have some fun!

I don't see anything good at all in Frankie. He's a liar, a cheat, and he disowned his mother. He's watering down the stuff he's supposed to be putting on the agave and pocketing the money he's getting under the table. He bummed off of his cousin until he got thrown out, then he married Sophie just for her money. He rented parents to come to the wedding. Even if that is the way some Mexicans have to get ahead in life, that still does not make it right. I think the writers planned for Frankie and Aaron both to be villans and purposely didn't write any good deeds into their characters.

Frankie will absolutely have to die because he disrespected his mother. I guarantee it by the rules of telenovelas.

Wow, this show gets more comments every night. What fun to sit up late and read the day's conversations from you all. Thanks to JR for the fine recap and to all the commenters for making this rollicking good fun. My most fun moments: Gavi openly sneered at Frankie when he walked in in that gaudy pink ascot and matching handkerchief. She knows just how he has disrespected his sweet mother and is not one bit fooled by anything he does. He actually looked bashful in front of her like she might betray him at any moment. Isa is pushing Frankie's patience with her little tantrums to remain the princess at every moment. He doesn't like ceding the stage light and center of attention much and seems to have an inkling that they may be kissing the gravy train goodbye too soon. After all, neither one of them would be anything without draining other people's bank accounts. Well Rod's just a very good looking dickhead in my book these days. He doesn't even act sexy and steamy with Erika like he did with Gavi. And I refuse to call those sniffing scenes anything but perverse. Every notice how really skinny Minny is? I think even Aaron lifted her easily without popping out his back. Can't wait for the Amador letters to be read.

Part of me thinks that Rod was unnecessarily cruel in the way he acted toward Gavi. A handshake! This toward a woman who just a few short weeks ago was his only reason for breathing!!

At the same time, I also think that Rod is finally looking at Gavi with his big head and not the little one. He actually had an adult conversation with her and, perhaps, will finally realize that this is a woman with "grit". As one of my favorite writers, Louis L'amour would have said, "Gavi is one to walk the far hills with!"

I don't believe that Sophie was fooled for one second. If you have the episode taped, go back and check out the look she gives Frankie over Isa's shoulder. That is not the look of a loving wife that had an awkward mystery cleared up! That is a Lorena Bobbit look that says I know where you sleep and all that kitchen work I've done for you taught me where they keep the sharp shiny things!!!

I am totally in love with Dr. Erika (or at least the actress), but that dress...for once I actually looked at her face because it was too painful to look down.

Dani is the class of that clan. Elvis is a lucky man.

The two characters that I have no defense for whatever are Aaron and Frankie. I love to watch Aaron but he has knowingly and purposely caused harm to others on an ongoing basis. Same with Frankie. So I expect grand telenovela justice for the two of them!

Fedra and Minnie will be punished by having to endure whatever Aaron’s fate will be and with the fact they have surely alienated all the other CRT members and others in their social group. Isa seems to actually see things beyond her own situation in rare moments of clarity, but I think she will deservedly be punished by losing the money and position she coldly pursued, plus enduring whatever punishment Frankie will meet.

One more note on Rod – even though his behavior has caused Gavi continued pain, he is clueless to how she is feeling because (1) he is clueless, and (2) he sees her with Dr. Coffee all the time and thinks they have something going on. If Rod saw Gavi crying and staring at the phone like we do, I think he would go to her in a second.

Frankie is not a nice person, but I don't classify him like I do Aaron. Frankie has scammed his way through life. I guess he was on the outside looking in & wanted what he saw. This makes him a bit of a prick. His behavior at the ranch is unexcusable. Aaron, Fedra, Minnie..these people would club Pilar and steal her gold fillings. For so many of the wealthy, even with everything they have..it is never enough, they must always have more. I kinda see Isa as someone who got swept up in the Montalvo family drama. You would think she'd be a bit nicer to Frankie considering what she is wanting him to do. Give up his Stupid Golden Goose. Isa just totally wants to blow the Montalvo Taco Stand.

As far as the actors and the acting goes, I love (to hate) Aaron and Frankie. They're so bad they're good. Melinama says Frankie is due to die for disowning his mother. So be it. One would hope that Sophie is not being scammed yet again by Frankie. He still has the sulphur anvil awaiting him, not just baby daddy anvil and Isa affair anvil.

The out crop of the plague (or agave disease) will probably be the esteemed Montalvo estate. And after all the kudos about the haicenda output, Rod will get a reality check. And he needs one badly.

About Gavi and the fight in the bathroom. She said she was starting to fight back after the Susie scandal when the witches tried to have her fired. That's why she didn't invite them to the last get together. It was pretty cheap, but, I guess, she just had enough.

Thanks for the good news about Frankie's doom, Melinama! Now I have something to look forward to in this storyline.

Minnie deserves a lot worse than being slapped around, but that doesn't justify Gavi's behavior. Sure, she "lost" it, but that's why we respect people who can "keep" it together when angered. She'll just have to suffer the consequences of her actions. That may not be much, since so much else is happening.

Now, Rod's reality check is overdue. Not only is he well aware of his behavior, he repeats this cruel behavior over and over. Let's be honest, if he wasn't rich and good looking, he wouldn't be getting away with so much...

Oldman54,

You are too funny. :)

Thanks for the recape.

Sofie is proving to be quite strong when it comes to the Pancho & Isa business, though i think Kama is a B*tch.

Rod is a selfish B*ST*RD who has wasted Gaviota's four years the telenovela God's should have given her a better Aldo not the coffee nerd.... Rod should be ashamed of being jealous of that nerd

The Brujas have proven to be hard headed with no class at all...airing Gavi's life like that. What.........surely they could handle a little smack down from the jimadora.

I'll be honest with you, Hani. I don't think I could take a hotter Aldo.

I hated Aldo. But I don't hate Dr. Blondie so much. Call it racism. Call it what you will. At first I was uncomfortable with Aldo simply because he wasn't Fernando. But within a short time I hated him simply because he wasn't Fernando, because Fernando was knocking his ass off trying to win Lety back.

We're almost there with Rodrigo and Gaviota... but still like 6.% short. And I'm going to hold out for that .6% because Rodrigo deserves to work for something that's worth more than half a percent.

Julie i understand what u mean when u say u hated Aldo i couldn't stand him either.

Gavi's Aldo shouldn't necessarily be blonde.... she needs someone to give her a good experience about love & life... seriously Rod is the only man she has ever known she is miserable he is not. She needs a new experience but not a cup of blue mountain the good Dr wouldn't get her in million years.
