Destilando 11/07 - in which loyal Enriqueta loses her job and it just isn't fair.

Rerun: Gav's jealous, sarcastic hissy fit confronting Rod and his "best psychologist in the country," said psychologist caught with her hands in the masa, in a sexy dress and tons of makeup. "Ah, Doctora, I so appreciate your excellent professional techniques, which have included long weekends away with your patient, and dinner in expensive restaurants. And Rod, y'oughter marry this woman who cured you of me." Erika looks embarrassed.

Gav flounces out, Rod in pursuit, and there is another tedious rehash of grievances. He says he lost a piece of his life that day she told him to get lost. "I thought I'd died, I needed Erika so I could heal, I was going to hell, I kept asking 'Why, Gaviota?' but gradually I saw I didn't know how to love you, I made so many mistakes, I made so many wrong decisions in my demented jealousy. I was a romantic imbecile, I hurt both of us."

She taunts him: "Changing your life must have been easy with her." "You think it was easy to stop calling you? To tell myself you were better off with Blandie, that smart, cultured, successful guy with a great future, a guy who doesn't make scandalous scenes? Your life is all set and mine is in pieces, I can't pick them up. Remember when I said I'd be back when my life was together? That moment seems farther away all the time..." (she cries)

This tiresome exchange is interrupted by the waitress: "Lady, you didn't pay your bill." Rod says he'll pay, Gav says no, he says don't be stubborn. He pays.

In relentless resumption of the never-ending dispute: Gav says she's giving the hacienda back to the Montalvos tomorrow. "No, keep it, don't let Aaron have what's yours." "I want nothing from your family. Anyway, in conclusion, I'm glad you have a good companion. I'll pray you find the peace you seek." She leaves.

Rod drags hisself back into the restaurant where poor abandoned Dr. Erika is paying the bill. She says she thought he might not have been coming back, and that she understood Gav's outburst. "We better think everything through carefully." He agrees.

At the hacienda, SanJuana is agressively rehashing the latest gossip from the Big House with James, Roman and Ofelia as unwilling audience. She gleefully blabs that Isa cuckolded Rod with Hilario, too, and that Hilario asked her to go away with him.

Conversations between Clarita and Gaviota never advance the plot. "It's all over, he's exchanged me for another, como asi" is plenty of recap for the first bit. Second bit: "L'il Ricky is Jose's grandson. Aww screw it, let's move to London." "What about my hacienda?" "Clarita, it's not like I want to tell you what to do with your stuff, but - we'll give it to charity. As of today, I bury Rodrigo."

Gav imagines Rod and Dr Erika as having a romantic night; actually each is brooding alone in a dark room.

In his dark room, Rod summons Enriqueta, the maid, and summarily fires her because he is closing the apartment and selling it - and everything in it - to erase all traces of Isadora. "Your check's in the envelope. If I ever get my life back together, I'll give you a call." Thus do the lower classes suffer when the upper classes boink irresponsibly.

Next morning, Gav does not arrive at CRT at 6 in the morning as she'd promised Blandie (he'd wanted another all-nighter to finish some of his always-top-priority lists lists lists of whatever). Blandie is running around all peeved and yelling NANCY NANCY NANCY!! Nancy whispers to Gav, "He's wearing yesterday's clothes, he's been working all night." "Nancy, I had a dog's night, I didn't sleep, ok, where are those numbers?"

Suddenly, here's Aaron, all menacing! He sends Nancy away. Gav says she knows what he wants but she still refuses his demand that she sign over the hacienda to him. He says he knows Rodrigo wants her to have Mirasoles as compensation for her "services." She says "Your tongue is longer than an iguana's."

Aaron: "Y'all have no rights to any of grandfather's property. I guess HE was compensating your mother for HER services. I'll sue! I'd forgotten how unscrupulous and voracious you are."

She slaps him and says "Bring on the lawyers, you'll never get Las Mirasoles." He slaps her right back and glares izpodlobya which is a cool Russian word meaning "out from under the eyebrows."

Gaviota's in the midst of a furious fantasy, involving hair pulling and worse abuse, when Blandie blunders in nattering about xeroxes. He inquires rhetorically: "Do I have to do everything myself?" She says she had a bad night and snatches the notebook. "I had a bad night too," complains Blandie accusingly. He interrogates Nancy: "Gav saw Rod last night, didn't she, did she talk to him?"

Rod to Videgaray: "Sell the apartment, the furniture, I want nothing to remind me of her." "Duarte called, he knew nothing about Isa's doings and was indignant at her behavior, he gave me a message for you - he's sorry, but he can't keep his word, he can't pay you back now, but he'll pay every cent some day." Oh, yeah. Rod will give a good chunk of change to Isa in order to keep legal rights to L'il Ricky, for whom his love is unchanged. He wants to keep being Rickie's legal father.

Simultaneously, Isa is telling her lawyer she wants L'il Rickie to have his Real Father's name. The real father is sitting next to her in sunglasses and a mostly-unbuttoned shirt, looking like a juvenile delinquent wannabe. She says that, since L'il Rickie is a pawn in the Montalvo winner-takes-all varon sweepstakes, the Montalvos would end up stripping him of their name anyway. She'd rather have the lawyer concentrate on grabbing for her the biggest possible share of Rod's goodies.

Frankie interrupts to ask about fees. The lawyer requires a goodly sum up front and a percentage of the take. Frankie offers lists of all the income the hacienda produces, the better to divvy it up between man and ex-wife. "When you have the list for me, we'll contact Rod's lawyer." "Please hurry," pleads Isa, "our financial situation is desperate."

Then she takes L'il Baby and Big Baby and goes to a jeweler to sell her baubles. The jeweler says "They're great, but I can give you only half the price you paid." She acts all surprised. [Somebody with better eyes or a bigger tv, tell me - what exactly is Frankie looking at inside his unbuttoned shirt? HIS jewels? Is he admiring his own nipples? -Ed.] Isa's for leaving to find another jeweler but Frankie stops her, saying, "This is the third jeweler who's told us the same thing. We need the money. Tomorrow, I promise to get with my 'contacts' and find work. Trust me." They take the dough.

Rod is concluding with Videgaray, asking him to find Clarita and Gaviota, when Aaron bursts in shouting "Gaviota said she doesn't want Las Mirasoles, so when can I have it?" "No, Aaron - Grammie, my sisters and I all want to comply with Gramps' will." "You may have that stupid romantic idea, but I think completely differently, completely rationally!" [Aaron screams in non-rational fashion. I look around to see if there's a cellphone he could throw. -- Ed.]

"Anyway, why give Mariana Franco the hacienda if she's going to live in London?" Rod is impactado. Aaron, delighted to be the one to give the news, says she's going with her gorgeous boss.

Jose hyperventilates when she hears that Li'l Rickie is her grandson.

The Doctorcito is having a temper tantrum against Gaviota, which he shows by addressing all his annoying orders to Nancy instead. "I want to work with somebody who isn't tired," he snottily explains.

As Gav follows him into his office a cascade of complaints and resentments ensue, throttled only by her second iteration of this dramatic vow: "I'll go with you to London!" [Now folks, as a former child-rearer and current donkey trainer, I have skills applicable to dealing with the Doctorcito! I say Gav should not reward his bad behavior. She should wait until he behaves nicely before rewarding him or he'll think tantrums are good. --Ed.]

With Gav's announcement, the sun comes out! Blandie is all smiles and running around in a happy dance and "NANCY NANCY NANCY tell Av* the good news!" He inquires in an annoying, falsely self-deprecating manner: "Do you really want to go away with your inhuman, bad-humored boss?" "True, sometimes I want to strangle you." He promises to improve.

He tells Nancy they'll bag the rest of their work and go celebrate, but she starts crying (get that girl a Paxil) and says she doesn't have any reason to celebrate.

I especially wanted to punch him when he concluded, "Gaviota, you've made the best decision of your life." Later he tells her she can't change her mind at the last minute this time. "Doctor, there's nothing keeping me here - my thing with Rodrigo is over."

Rod gives Margarita a bunch of work and then tries to find out how Gaviota knew which expensive restaurant he'd be in with Doctor Erika. Margarita admits it was she who spilled the beans and promises not to do it again. He's pleased to hear how very interested Gav had been in all things Erika.

Gav tells Clarita what's been going on. Clarita suggests they give the hacienda to La Beneficion (a nunnery maybe?).

After the commercials Minerva shows up at Aaron's office with pictures of her sonograms - she is 16 weeks pregnant with Aaron Jr.

Aaron Sr. thinks it's a joke, or that she bought these sonograms, but no, they're the real thing. She says they have to be very careful because the doctor told her this was the last pregnancy she'd ever have. [Que the hell?]

Then Aaron has two surprises for Minerva. Number one: As of the next day his old man is signing over the corporation and Aaron will own it completely. Number two: Aaron Jr. has no competition in the Montalvo Varon Sweepstakes.

Minerva immediately assumes that Aaron has murdered L'il Ricky. However, she's just as happy to hear the real reason Rickie's been scratched from the race: "Isa wasn't inseminated, she got pregnant by more - natural - means, it was Pancho de la Vega, the both of them have been thrown out."

By habit, Minerva starts complaining: "With Isa out of the way, Rod can run to the husband-robber!" Aaron says no worries, the home team now has an unbeatable head start, and anyway, Gaviota is off to London with Blandie.

Then Minerva worries Aaron Jr. might turn out to be a girl but Aaron Sr. sez "NO! Cause we're on a lucky streak."

Showing some sense, Isa is telling Pancho they need to conserve their resources but he, hypnotized by the wad of cash from the jewelry store, wafts past her to the phone and orders a bottle of the best champagne to celebrate. [Frankie's time horizon is short. -Ed.]

Finally Rod arrives at Dr. Erika's place and starts telling her what a great gal she is and how she restored him and [I think] proved to him he could get it up for another woman, and she's just the woman he'd fall in love with, but he's already in love - with Gaviota.

Thursday: Latin Grammies. Friday: Rodrigo, in fine old style, yells at Aaron: "Tell the whole family what you said about Clarita and how you threatened her!" and later whacks and smashes a vase of roses, multiple times, over a car window, snarling and shouting; Dr. Blandie tells Gav he'll teach her to love him, and kisses her; in response Gaviota looks like a cockroach flew into her mouth.

I couldn't believe Erika clutching Rod's award to her breast and crying. This from the BEST psychologist in Mexico??

I wasn't sure that Aaron actually hit Gavi back. It looked like he pushed her or knocked over a chair, because Dr. Blondie picked it up when he came in the room and asked her what happened.

What is the matter with Gaviota???She had her opening when Rodrigo told her how distraught he was when she rejected him, and how she is now with a bettr man than he. I think her problem is unrealistic PRIDE. But if nothing else, it is interesting how the show keeps making you change your sympathy and liking for Gavi and Rod.

Bwaaahhhaaa..
You nailed it with cockroach in her mouth. I got the big eyeroll from my husband when I said thank gawd there was no tongue or she would have spit..I'm sure the next scene will involve gargling and wiping her mouth off.

I seriously think Aaron is either a coke freak of mass quanities or shaking school kids down for Ritalin...He is just way to wound up all the time. In Oklahoma, we'd say he was tweekin, but I don't think Aaron would do meth..it is just too common, he be a coke freak. Seriously maybe that is why he is always making those wierd snort noises.

Blandie is such a baby..if he ever gets her off to England..she is doomed.

It's is gonna be Erika's turn to cry Erika's turn to cry cause Johnny's come back to me..wait I think I am getting confused..

Thank you Melinama for an excellent recap.

I'm a bit bummed that I don't get to do a recap for DA this week. Oh, well.

Wheeee, things are heating up now! What WAS Frankie looking at? Perhaps he was admiring his newly waxed chest?

Stoopid Aaron. If he'd keep his fat mouth shut for once then maybe things would go a little easier for him. I wonder what he'll do to screw up Minnie's pregnancy? Didn't he throw her down the stairs once?

Fun recap, lots of laughs, and so fast! You posted before DA even started here on the west coast.

Great title, very true!

yeah, what's with Dra. cluthching the award, indeed, what was with Rod giving it to her to begin with? And why did Rod bounce off her couch?? I think that gavi will go to Londres, la capital de Inglaterra, Rod will track her down there, and they will start anew. She will run from Blandie and his espresso machine, and return to Tequila with Rod. Isa and Frankie will run off somewhere, run out of pesos, and he will evaporate. She will give the head to Rod to raise. Meanwhile, Clarita will have held on to Las Mirasoles, Rod will be in desperate need of good agave for his tequila, and Clarita will supply him, bail him out of the jam that he's in, and all will be well with the world. Something like this. Alegria para siempre? Lo dudo...dorado dave

The moments of truth are sweeeeett, no? Frankie shows his truth with his adoring look not at his son or hard won beloved Isa but at HIMSELF. I think nipple worship was about where his eyes fell. Isa is looking impactada every other minute as she begins to realize the sexless life with Rodnothot was at least full of lovely lunches and endless shopping sprees.
And honestly, Erika the bestpsychologistinMexico was beyond pathetic. I was disturbed by her actions and phony talk but her coyly cocked head while talking with Gaviota was such a tip off. Don't they teach the bestpsych's to hold their heads erect and look people square in the eyes....
Aaron, aaaahhh AAAAron. He did break something on Gavi's desk, probably thought it was a phone and he has the rights to all phones in a room.
Good writing with the surprise ending to Rodrigo's long speech to Erika. Finally some retribution!

Hah, great comments, thanks y'all! Dorado Dave, good guesses except Frankie must die. He may evaporate first, but for dissing his mother he must die. I stake my blog on that. The head is an unattractive baby, isn't he! Maybe chosen because he would stay still. Remember that lethargic toddler in Alborada? Or maybe they dope them.

Beckster, drugs seems obvious, except (as noted before) some people truly are this rageful like my ancestor who burst into an apoplectic rage when his valet set out the wrong tie and died right there and then.

Cheryl, glad you like recapping. If you like I'll give you the next available spot, let me know.

Thanks for the recap. This seem to be the "loss" episode. Enriqueta looses her job. Erika looses Rod, Rod looses his only female friend, Rod looses Gavi, Gavi looses Rod, Nancy looses a friend, Isa looses her jewels. Clarita looses her land, and home, Bruno looses his job, Dr. Blondie looses his mind, there are agave loses at the hacienda, etc...The only ones gaining something here are Aaron and Minnie, talk about justice......

Melinama thanks for a great recap. I loved the line - your tongue is longer than an iguana's. I hope I can use it on someone even though I'm not sure exactly what it means. Was she calling him a liar? And, she looked like she had a cockroach in her mouth - you nailed that one. I'm going to lauph about that all day.

Anyway, I didn't think Aaron hit Gaviota. I think he knocked over a chair on his way out. Gavi would have gone after him if he had slapped her. She is not a wimp and not about to give an inch to the most evil one.

From lower Ala

Thanks, Melinama . Does ''your tongue is longer than an iguana's'' have any connection to Gene Simmons of Kiss ?? Also, thanks for the sage advice regarding donkeys, children, and positive reinforcement. But...would it really work with any of these people???...probably not. Rod calls himself ''a romantic imbecile'' which I think is a little off. I believe that a romantic imbecile sends you like 6 dozen red roses and has a perfume created just for you and makes sure the chocolatecovered strawberries are ripe and fresh and always chills the Asti Spumante to the right temperature and buys you teeny tiny lacy things to wear. [I have thought about this A LOT.] I think that Rod in actuality was ''a jealous imbecile''---those are the ones who have permanent parking spaces outside your apartment for perpetual stalking and accuse you of sleeping with all your coworkeres, neighbors, and visiting soccer teams, and marry women they don't love just to spite you . And Dr.Dollface, I'm afraid your ship has sailed...and you were sooo close. The Love Boat just left the dock without you on board. Que lastima...back to the drawing board...maybe a nice investment banker with emotional problems will make an appointment with you, so keep those frocks pressed. Frankie is indeed a legend in his own mind ....but Frankie...reality bites.

Someone asked about Minerva's tumble down the stairs when she was pregnant last time. Just to be clear, it was a joint effort between her and Aaron - he didn't actually push her. She was running down the stairs in a jealous rage, he tried to haul her up by the wrist (or arm). She pulled free from his grasp, and the momentum sent her rolling down the stairs, Scarlett O'Hara-style.

The best psychologist in the country certainly failed to make herself useful (indeed, managed to fuel the fire a bit) during the dinnertime showdown.

And I thought Rod had a lot of nerve to claim that his life was in pieces. His kid is currently MIA, but he'll be back if Isa wants money; the bank loan vs. the rotten agaves is a little scarier, but none of that has anything to do with Gavi and there's no reason to throw them in her face. Meanwhile, he's still rich (at least for now) and has an internationally acclaimed tequila product (the organic agaves are being tended by James, so they're fine). Pretty cushy for a life that's in pieces.

I'd like for Dr. Erika and Dr. Blondie to get stuck in an elevator together. I don't care whether they become an item or simply rot in there, as long as I don't have to see them again!!

Melinama, I read your recap again this morning. Thanks all over again. The more I write these as guest recapper the more appreciation I have for the sheer mountain of work it is. I know it goes faster in time. I would love to have a spot as a recapper but I am specifically obsessed right now with being a Pasión team regular or alternate. I expect that old recappers are going to rise from their tombs to get on this ship but that is what I would like to be wait listed for....call me crazy!

Yes, Melinama, Frankie must die, but it must be in some truly appropriate and poetic way. Maybe stepping in front of a garbage truck while admiring his reflection in a store window. Somehow his narcissism must be his downfall... Aaron didn't slap Gavi, he wouldn't have survived the ensuing battle. I couldn't figure out waht the noise was till Blandie almost did a Frankie-in-the-airport on the tipped over chair. Again- what was that scene where Rod almost bounced off the Doctora's couch? Didn't see a broken spring. Thanks for the excellent recap, i missed a bit of the show when my lady called. dorado dave

I am SO annoyed with Gaviota for assuming she can dispose of the hacienda without taking Clarita's wishes into account. Clarita, poor migrant all her life, finally gets something she can call her own, and Gav takes it away? Bad donkey.

Great recap...thank you:-)!

Aaron didn't hit Gavi back (he would have died instantly ---yep she'd have kill him with her bare hands jeje)....what he did was to knock her phone (and some papers) off her desk. It seems this fool have a thing against phones.

Regarding Aaron with the phones. I'm sure at first it was just an automatica way to show annoyance. Lately, though, the phone abuse has become so spectacular that I can only assume that the actor is overdoing it on purpose because he knows it cracks the fans up. :-)

Can someone tell me what Rod was saying to Erica when he see her in her apartment
after the restaurant incedent?
was he dumping her or telling her
that he loves her. Please can someone tell me. I would really appreciate it !
thanks,
sp

Thank you for the great recap. How about Frankie having a mud bath at a spa and there are flesh-eating creatures in the mud??
Susanlynn, -"sends you like 6 dozen red roses and has a perfume created just for you and makes sure the chocolatecovered strawberries are ripe and fresh and always chills the Asti Spumante to the right temperature and buys you teeny tiny lacy things to wear."- you are right on the money. All of my favorites - yum! I'll check my video to see if Aaron hit Gavi - I don't think so. He would be taking the elevator straight down to the hot place.
B from Mass.

In the preview, is Rod wants to
reconcile with Gavi? please ! !
can someone tell me what's happening in the preview?
thanks a lot for your help in translating . . .

Great, great recap. My Spanish is slowly improving, but still leaves a lot to be desired, (as evidenced by the question I am about to ask:)
What is the difference between the land where Rod's agave crops are and the land that Clarita now owns. I've only heard the name "Las Mirasoles" in reference to the land willed to Clarita. Are there 2 seperate parcels of land? Someone please explain. Thanks.

oh by gawd, Just in case you all are wondering who the heck zsjntxm is I mistakenly wrote the code where I was supposed to write my name.

--yes, Rod dumped Erika in the sweetest way possible.
--yes, he wants to get back with Gavi, but the flower-bashing episode looks like he's crossing tracdks with Alonso again
Los Mirasoles is a separate hacienda from La Montalvena, a small but desirable parcel of land.

For a split second I though Aron hit Gavi then later saw the chair on the ground. It was just bad sound editing. She certainly would have gone after him in a flash and there would have been a mark on her face which would have sent Dr. Blandie after him or off for a soothing cup of coffee.

I'm sick of Gavi deciding what to do with the the hacienda. It's her mother's and they should keep it if for no other reason then to bug the living hell out of the haughty Montalvo's. Let's see Montalvo agave are withering away of disease and Gavi's are healthy and happy. That's the best revenge.

So the previews show Rod beating a car to death with roses. Seems a total set up for yet ANOTHER misunderstanding. He thinks Gavi is in the apartment getting it on with Dr. Bland and meanwhile she has left to probably go find him. Que the Hell isn't it time for someone to grow up.

"Dr. Blandie tells Gav he'll teach her to love him, and kisses her"..
Everytime I read this I have to STOP everything, get up and go find my skin, which keeps crawling off to a corner...

Now if Frankie had said that it would be well worth a hardy smirk..but Blandie...ewwww Learnin from the Master. Eeeeeehhh..

As for Rod, yeah he did the "Thank you for being a friend..but I'm never gonna lay on top of you again", it could have been a song. Cheer up Dr Erika hopefully this will save you from a lawsuit..I wonder if Erika has a history of this? I can't believe she was that charmed by crazy ass Rod.

Also I need to know..do I have to give up my new found love for Tequila and replace it with Rum once the pirates begin? I hope we never have a Dickens one cause I can't even stand the smell of Gin.

Hot Rod jumped off the sofa like it burned because he remembered what almost happened there with his sexy psycho. Now that he's here to give her the heave-ho, he doesn't want to be reminded he almost did her.

Now that Mariana and Rod will be in London--suppose her baby didn't really die? She was in bad shape for months, I think. What if the nuns took the baby so Gavi wouldn't be an unmarried mama with no means of support? In the best interests of the child . . . of course.

That would really put a crimp in Minnie and Aaron's plans.

Destilando Cafe, thanks for clarifying the difference in the two parcels of land. I'm sure the big house and the house that Rod burned down is on Montalvena right? Has Las Mirasoles been in the "news" before? Who lives lives there now? Also, does "hacienda" refer to the big house or the entire farm? I remember in elementary school singing a song about "In my adobe hacienda" and it meant brick house. I wonder what will become of Las Mirasoles in the long run? Clarita's saints have protected her so far. I sure hope the saint who rules over common sense will intervene before Gavi donates it to charity or). However, if she keeps it, I can't imagine Rod settling down land that belongs to his mother in law.

I think someone mentioned it before. If Clarita takes the land it will eventually pass to Gavi and then Rod wouldn't have any problems since it would be coming back to the Montalvos. In any case i just wish this thing would end. We still have a lot of stuff to either come out or disappear into the great telenovela void where characters like Acacia and lately Hil disappear and story line fizzle out.

Those previews from pirates don't look promising in any way shape or form. God save us from yet another yellow fog story. A couple of those women look like their wigs and makeup were applied by Brittany Spears.

Lisa- we haven't heard of Las Mirasoles til now, i don't think. The Montalvena is the main agave farm, house, cattle ranch, stables, etc. Las Mirasloes is probably a small parcel, planted with agave, too. I t must be good land, or else Aaron the Avaricious wouldn't want it. thhe word "hacienda" can mean various things, form a tiny house to something like the Montalvena, but it always refers to something in el campo (in the country, or rural). I don't think that anything bad is going to haoppen to Clarita's land,it's hers, no one can take it from her, and Roddy wouldn't let it happen, either. He still loves Gavi, and would do anything to protect her and Clarita...dorado dave

Great recap! Yep, if Aaron had hit Gav, he would have had a much higher voice by now!!

And Minerva will have a baby girl....which will cause Aaron to have a coronary...the end!

Rod and Gavi are made for each other.....they are both stubborn and never tell each other the truth, that they still .ove each other. Very frustrating!!

Duh! I meant to say they still LOVE each other! My typing is not the best!

Thanks Dave for explaining. As much as I love the novela, I have to depend on the recaps and the comments to fine tune many things. By the way, your comments/ predictions seems right on target

Melinama,
Great recap, as usual!. The last few episodes I like much better in the written form on this blog than originals.
I think closer to the end some actors changed for the worse and some - for the better. I agree that actress that plays role of Isa is much better then a few months ago, as well as Pancho. In the same company I might see D.Pilar. Aaron is excellent, the same goes for Minerva. But I really got tired of Doctorcito with his changes form furious to honey-sweet, never ending whipping Rod, Gavi, Clarita and James.
On the other hand I was very surprised that Melinama absolutely properly used not so widely known and used Russian word "izpodlobya" (исподлобья) - how do you know this word? Do you know a lot of Russian?

Eve

From what I understood about the inheritance, Las Mirasoles is a small hacienda with a few very good agave-producing acres. That means there's an actual house, not a hut or shack. It's probably one-tenth the size of La Montalveña. That's why Aaron wants it so bad.

The question is: Did Pilar and the family know about the property or did Amador buy it on the sly? Either way--he sure as heck took his sweet time giving it to Clarita. She toiled the fields for 35(?) years while she could have had a little place to call her own.

Gavi, get off your high horse. It's not your property yet! Don't decide for your Ma.

She says she wants nothing to do with those Montalvos. She knows Rod, Dani, Pilar, Bruno, and now Sofia are not out to get her. Also, two fewer Montalvos--Isa and Pancho. So there's really only Fedra, Minnie, and Aaron.

G.

Hah, Eve, I'm DELIGHTED you noticed! I was a Russian major in college but ya zabyla pochti vsyoh. However, a few choice words stuck with me, and this was one of them - because at the time I made a mental note, "This is a word we should have in English but we don't." That was back in, say, 1972...

Since it's pretty much a foregone conclusion that Gavi and Rod will end up together, wouldn't it be cool if that could happen right now? That way we'd get to enjoy their happy ending a little bit, PLUS the enjoyment of watching them deal with the falling anvils as a team.

G/anon, I've noticed the same that very few Montalvos are out to get Gavi now, and the only Montalvo by blood is Aaron, and he treats everyone that way. Gavi has won over most of the family At the rate that things are going, soon she won't have many enemies at the Montalvena...by then she'll likely be la patrona...dorado dave

To anonymous. I had said months ago, What if the nuns took the child, because gav was too weak to take care of it and would give the child back later. You mentioned possibly the nuns taking the baby cause she wasn't married. Spooky. We were still both on the same page.

I've been looking at a lot of the videos about Pasion on Youtube and it looks good to me..except perhaps for some of the lasdies' wigs. I was surprised to see that the actress who played Marie on Amor Real [Manuel's cousin who tried to rip him off] has a part in Pasion. I can't wait. It looks good to me. Great scenery and costumes. As for the word ''hacienda''--the dictionary I looked in stated that the term could refer to the house or the land . I agree that Gavi has no right to tell her mother what to do with her inheritance. Gavi is foolishly proud . I am also tired of her whipping her head around as she goes off on a rant. She seems to have only 2 settings 1] sitting by the phone pining and 2]ranting and whipping her head back and forth.. Get a grip.

Thanks for the great recap!
I'm upset that Minerva "suspected" she was pregnant...and still drank copious amounts of alcohol - at the CRT get together, the brujas meetings, etc. Does she not have a brain (the baby's is pickled by now)? Really, she should never be a mother!

Rodrigo is finally on the path of reconciliaton with Gavi, even as she packs for Londres. He'll be doing penance for awhile, as he should, and then all will be well.

Melinama, that recap was of the highest quality, sorta like Rod's organic tequila. Loved the cockroach in the mouth, very accurate description of Gavi's expression.
--La Paloma

Aaron didn't slap Gaviota. He knocked a phone and a couple of things off her desk.

What will we do when D.A. ends and there are no more phone homicides courtesy of Aaron Montalvo? I'll miss that tightly wound stripe wearing gigolo..

We don't need Aaron to ruin phones. There's plenty of phone abuse in the telenovela world. There was a great deal of telephone abuse (mostly by Marcia) in LFMB, for example. Not as spectacular as Aaron's, but now that Aaron has raised the bar, others may follow suit. :)

Well, there won't be any phones to ruin in the pirate saga, for sure. The only thing I can look forward to is the nickname Beckster will think up for the character Colunga (ugh) plays.

Destilando cafe ... about your suggestion of assigning that character that you dislike a name, would you consider letting the rest of us get to know him first. I enjoyed the multiple names Rodrigo had because they changed according to whatever he was doing at the moment. Same with Dr S. He well deserved the Dr Coffee name. On the other hand, it got rather boring hearing Isa referred to as TWB throughout 100 episodes. Her character was so colorful until there would have been many humorous and other names for her. Same with SanJuana. The first time I same her name spelled that way, I thought it was a mistake since (almost) all the commenters referred to her as San Wanna. What is your opinion of the character you want the nickname for? My guess is that you don't like him.

Destilando Cafe and i are in the same boat it seems. i can't stomach Colunga, never have, going back to his very first telenovela when he looked a lot better than he does today and he was beyond terrible as an actor. I love Pirate themes but the previews are not grabbing me at all. I'll probably give it a couple of stabs in the beginning and then rely on you guys and your commentary to lure me back. I'm going to France for a while so I'd have a gap anyway. I wonder what is going to replace ASL and Juan Q.

Got to add that Colunga does nothing for me. I enjoyed watching Alborada and he was in great shape. But, that really long hair in pirates--belch!

Thanks Deci Girl for your comment. I had never heard of Colunga before. According to previous comments I thought everyone was anxiously awaiting the "pirates" because of him. I thought he was going to be a poster guy for what a real hero is supposed to be like. I was all hyped up for Rod and Gavi to go ahead and do their thing so that I could get to meet this Colunga. So, maybe I spoke too soon since you guys know him and I don't. Meanwhile, I hope the commentary is such that you will rejoin the group after your trip to France.

Recaps are the my main reason I watch these novelas. Before I found Caray Caray English recaps, I tried watching a couple novelas, but didn't understand the story line enough to make it a part of my "learning spanish daily routine". My current plan is to give Pirates a try, and if I don't like it I'll switch to one of the others that's being recapped here on the Caray blog. My main goal is viewing as a learning experience.

ANON 1:52

Don't let my comments keep you from giving Pirates and Colunga a chance. I don't want to be hung, drawn and quartered or forced to walk the plank by his fans. You may very well find him your cup of tea like so many others do.

He's made a lot of Novelas over the years and I've seen him in many of them. I have to be fair and say that through the years he has improved as an actor but he is not and probably never will be one of the great ones that you can see in novelas. He works hard at his craft and gets big points from me for doing it. I find him awkward at times like he doesn't know how to really use his body. Really good actors can convey a great deal with the way they use their bodies. Good actors also develop quirks for the characters to convey personality traits like Frankie's collar adjusting or Aron's phone abuse. I've never seen Fern do that.

I will also admit Colunga's looks don't do it for me, I think he looks coarse sometimes, like Eduardo Yanez does. God know I have nothing against olive skinned, dark eyed, dark haired men - I married two of them but something about FC turns me off.

Now back to DA. I saw a picture of Avril Levine the other day and darned if she didn't have her hair done just like Dani. Is there no originality anywhere these days. LOL

Well, the good thing about the Pirates novela is that for those who don't like Fernando Colunga there's a big variety of other galanes to choose from. This novela has lots of eye candy..there's Santiago (Sebastian Rulli), Ascanio (Marcelo Cordoba? he was in Alborada), and for those who like Brad Pitt, there is Vasco (i don't know his real name; he's new, and kinda talks like Frankie from destilando).

Fer is definitely my cup of tea :) I've never seen a body like his before, and I love his stubborn jaw, big hands, and tan skin....ah...he could be used as a model for romance novels.

I am loving the Pasion previews and songs...the plot looks amazing. Can't wait! ...wearing an eyepatch, bandana, and got my sword ready :)

Tash~~~I'm with you, Chica. Different strokes for different folks...in life and in telenovelas, si ???

Yep--Sebastian Rulli can carry off the long-hair look. But the girl always goes to the guy with top billing on the credits--so it looks like Colunga is our galan. Que lastima. As for our protagonista, she's got one primo set of implants that don't make up for her thin lips and sharp features that would look good over a business suit, but contrast horribly with the traditional pretty young wench outfit she wears. Pretty and young she ain't. Word is in Mexico, they're cutting its run from February back to January. But, as you say, it would be a very dull world if all of us liked or hated the same things--so enjoy. I'll just savor the last few episodes of THIS novela (Flower-bashing tonight!!) and wait for y'all's commentaries on the next.

Rulli...not a big fan..too sensitive. I don't care who is in it or what they do as long as I don't have to watch the male lead whine and cry thoughout..If they do I hope they walk the plank..
Exhausted after LFMB & DA, thank Gawd this is before Sigmund Freud

is Minerva really pregnant? I thought she was just faking it... and if she is the baby most likely won't born healthy i mean she got plastered at least two occasions during her "pregnancy"..i hope i didn't repeat anybody else's post

While I am sure doctors would not recommend drinking during pregnancy..and chronic use does indeed lead to Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. Since many people don't know they are pregnant until at least two months have passed, I am sure this happens more often than people say. I don't know the exact stats..but I am willing to bet there is a very good chance the child would be completely as normal as the kid can be considering the parents are whack jobs.

When will the recap of the episode
from last night be publish?
I can't wait for it's translation
it's confusing to me,why was Gavi
running to the airport again?
didn't she just met Rod?what was the preview . . . can someone be kind enough to translate the preview?
thanks a lot
ev
